Reviews (page 5 of 13)

Used to love AC/DC, then stopped cause all their songs started kinda sounding the same. Fast forward to today and I realize that I’ve never actually listened to an AC/DC album all the way through. This was a fun time. Real rock and roll grooves, it was a little grimy, and hearing Angus on the guitar is never a bad time.

Oh wow Highway to Hell? Well I have definetly never heard this before XD. This was not a bad listen, but I knew all the songs inside out already.

Great songs and great flow throughout, easy rock to listen to and to spend the time. Good riffs and one of the best rock albums that have ever existed, sadly the last one with Bon Scott as singer, and leaves a great legacy with this one.

Good classic rock album.

One of my early favorites as I turned from a boy to a man. My adolescence reeks of this record. Not my favorite AC/DC record but one I did listen to a lot.

i got to see ACDC in concert may 2025. they were amazing. this album is amazing too. i'd give it a 7.5/10

Hell yeah, this album goes hard!

Fun album

Solid and easy to listen hard rock, tho the hits are a tad above the average compared to the unremarkable other tracks

Pretty sweet album

Actually pretty good

high octane rock and roll

AC/DC’s sound is instantly recognizable and damn near bulletproof. Even their weakest album still kicks the doors off most bands’ best efforts. Spinning one of their records feels like running into an old mate you haven’t seen in years, everything clicks right back into place, and you suddenly remember how much garbage you’ve been wasting your time on when you could’ve just been blasting AC/DC the whole damn time.

It's easy to see why this is considered a classic AC/DC album, it's pretty much all killer no filler. I know a good amount of songs from these, having been into rock music for over half my life, but never listened to a full album by them. There's a few surprises I've really enjoyed like Walk All Over You, and the high energy Beat Around the Bush which has some killer riffs. They've been called "one trick pony" in terms of their formula but it works.

Iconic band, with an iconic voice. Highlights: Highway to hell & Shot Down in Flames.

Very good, just not my taste

You know what you're getting with AC/DC. And it's good. It's catchy rock songs either directly about one thing or heavily hinting at one thing. It's just a steady stream of bangers.

I liked it more than I wanted to 4/5

Son great rock and roll! The title track is so incredible.

Outstanding sounds and fury! I love the sound of Bon Scott and the band was still doing fresh songs, they weren't yet in the, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" mode. Sure, a bit of it is repetitive but it still makes you want to get up and dance and bang your head.

(devil horns emoji)

On se edelleen menevä levy!

Geht gut nach vorne - 4.5

It's Basic. Basically good.

Balsas nepakartojamas. Labai geras abumas, labai geros gitaros. Problema, kad man visos dainos tiesiog skamba thunderstruck lol

I would never consider myself a fan of AC/DC. Everyone i knew as a teenager had the Live CD and Back in Black. They were never my choice when it was my turn to play music. Be that as it may this album is really good. Beyond the title track the remaining songs are well produced and sound good.

Blistering Riffs, screaming vocals, a bit samey musically gotta be AC/DC but it’s just what the Dr ordered!

A few years back I listened to Back in Black alot and really got into the album - but did not explore the rest of the ACDC catalogue. Very much enjoyed Highway to Hell - not quite as polished as BiB - but it rattles along at non stop pace and is a great undemanding listen. Not quite a 5 but a high 4. No stand out track as they all pretty much sound the same - not really a criticism as I enjoyed the whole.

second ac dc album and i love this. genuinely gets me so excited and hype

нуу нормально. все песни очень одинаковые, но вроде бы даже хорошие

Classic AC/DC that doesn’t go wrong, and I don’t care if many of the tracks sound similar. Lot of new songs to me and I did enjoy them all, great album length so nothing overstays its welcome. 4.25/5

Solid after solid, not much variety but that’s not what you come to AC/DC for. You enter this house for energy and fire and then you leave

I always through they were more like the Ramones. Tight 2 minute bangers. These songs were all a lot longer than I expected. I’ll leave that up to you wether it’s good or not.

Great stuff.

4/5 8.3/10 has some bangers.

Anther classic album by the Aussies in this collection, and a fitting swan song for Bon Scott and his distinct vocals. I never really idolized AC/DC the way I did bands like Van Halen or even Iron Maiden, but I always respected their commitment and consistency, and this album is probably their finest moment. Curiously, there aren't too many outstanding tracks on this album for me, aside from the indelible title track and "Shot down in flames" and "Night Crawler", but taken as a whole it's a whole lot of heavy-duty rock filling your eardrums. Sadly, the videos to many of the tracks are incredibly boring faxu-live performances, and so clearly lip-synched/air-guitared that they kind of tarnish the otherwise fine songs. But very interesting to read how they chose/recruited "Mutt" Lange to produce the album and how transformative he was for helping them be better musicians.

A bangin ride. Wasn't coming into this with high expectations given I'm not the craziest about the vocals on the biggest AC/DC hits but I ended up liking Bon Scott's vocals more

a lot ofsongswere alike but i enjoyed them

I found myself comparing to back in black...this was great but black is a notch better.

Amazing album with many iconic tracks. 4.5

If you are expecting anything more than classic AC/DC, then you will be disappointed. Fortunately, I knew what I was getting into. It sounds great, and has some great songs. Is it my favorite? Probably not, but I liked it anyways.

This album starts so strong... and then I kept chasing that next great song on the album, and while they are all solid rock songs, I didn't find the next great AC/DC hit. If you played "Get it hot" in your right ear and "Highway to Hell" in your left, you'd hear they are essentially the same song!

Of COURSE it's good. It's a classic. Thank goodness for rock.

Classic, straight-up rock and roll. Simple but brilliant. 4/5

Awesome rock!

It was cool. I definitely respect their classic jams. I’d definitely listen again.

AC/DC doing AC/DC stuff. What’s not to love…?

The title track is a timeless classic - AC/DC also being one of the first rock bands I've ever listened to brings up some nostalgia and love towards this song and a band. Hooowever, this album is not perfect. All of the other songs feel like... Your average AC/DC songs. Which is good! This band has a particular problem of sounding the same since they started their career which was more than 50 years ago - I can respect their consistency though. But sounding the same for 50 years is something that kinda bores me. But, back to Highway to Hell. Great, enjoyable album with a classic opener.

Favorittbandet mitt fra 2003 jo

Loved this. Old school epic rock album

Good, as expected from AC/DC

Everything else aside, I miss Bon Scott.

Great fun, I enjoyed most songs

so electric. felt so pumped. they really kept the energy up!

hell yeah 🤘

A really good A-side gives way to an ok B-side. No bad tracks on the second half, but they don’t quite reach the rock n roll boner standard of tracks like Highway to Hell and Touch Too Much. All in all a solid album

Solid rock album. High energy. Didn’t feel any down spots.

This album is aptly titled, since it is "Highway to Hell" followed by a bunch of tracks that remind the listener of "Highway to Hell." That's not really a bad thing, though. Favorite track: "Highway to Hell"

Bangers all the way down.

Rocks pretty simply

There's no denying that the iconic sound of AC/DC is extremely enjoyable. The roaring guitar riffs, iconic vocals and heavy production always makes for a great listen, but I have to say that this album doesn't hit the same as Back In Black. Some of the tracks here blur into one, and 2-3 of the middle section feels very much like filler material.

Classic banger.

Good classic rock vibes

Pure rock without frills.

just some good classic rock. AC/DC gives you what you want and nothing less from the genre. Yes, a lot of it is samey sounding but therein lies the charm. Sick riffs, predictable drums, clear and loud vocals. Pretty great all around. Perfect garage mechanic soundtrack.

Just some classic AC/DC. No bells and whistles, just catchy guitar riffs and vaguely sexual lyrics. “Shot Down in Flames” is a great tune as is “Girls Got Rhythm”. I was going to give it 5 but it’s more of a 4.5 so round down!

Aussie aussie aussie

Very good voice, but a lot of the songs sounded the same. Hells bells was besg

Very easy listen. Reminds me of a childhood car ride with Scott Dudek. Classic rock at its finest. That said, many of the songs sound very similar to a sense that when it starts I’m like “oh I’ve heard this jawn before,” but in reality I have not— it just sounds very similar to something I’ve heard. Still very good, 3.8/5– would listen with Scott on a drive through CVNP.

As a lot of other reviews have said, this is a fun enough album, but it is 10 slight variations on the same song. A low four, as that song is quite good.

Yah this is one of the greatest hard rock/early heavy metal albums of all time. It literally starts with one of the greatest songs in all of rock music, which is truly saying something. I do think it hasn’t aged perfectly, but that’s mostly because of the music mentality at the time. For example when I was a kid and all I listened to was AC/DC, KISS, Aerosmith, Poison, etc. you can hear very clearly that the goal is to find a sound and refine it but NOT to stray from that sound ever. I think the two biggest and best examples of that is AC/DC and KISS. They both riddled out their rock sound and never tried to truly stray from it. Now financially they clearly knew what they were doing. But in hindsight, when you are listening to an album where every song is intentionally made to sound like the last song, it gets stale quicker than 14 yr old me would like to admit. Once again, literally one of the greatest straightforward rock albums of all time. But yah don’t go into expecting variety.

Riffs for days, solos rip throughout the project. The lyrics are pretty standard sex, drugs, and rock and roll type stuff. But if you take it for what it is, it’s pretty easy to jam out to.

This was fun!

AC/DC’s Highway to Hell. Bon Scott’s last ride. Mutt Lange produced. They figured it out here. Scott died six months later. Greatness becomes myth becomes legend. Fuel of the gods.

People weren't kidding, every AC/DC song sounds like every AC/DC song. Even if they wrote one song eleven times, it's one damn good song and it was a good time. Not really much to say past that.

Classic hard rock, good songs, great guitar. Must Lange’s production really helped them sound their best.

Rock in

Solid Rock & Roll, right here. Do I enjoy bands that are constantly putting out new and different music that evolves over time? Yes. Do I enjoy AC/DC who mastered their craft and cranked out a bunch of similar albums that all rock the fuck out? You’re god damn right, I do 🤘🏻🤘🏻. I wish Metallica had stuck to the AC/DC formula instead of evolving their way to Load and St. Anger 😒 *Gwar’s cover of If You Want Blood is superior

Pure rock & roll. Like the definition rock & roll. But I do like Back in Black a bit more.

A solid rock record all the way through. Not sure if anything on the album is as good as the title track but a good listen none the less.

Good and fun Rock and Roll. Not quite perfect, but very good and glad to have listened to it.

Dropping the horny-ass rock n roll sledgehammer, as they always do. Bon's a beast. Malcolm's the riffmeister general. Tight rhythm section for Angus to go apeshit over. "[She had] the body of Venus with arms."

This album is not my favourite from AC/DC but a sure go to when I'm I want to listen to rock.

AC/DC often gets criticized for never changing their sound. It’s a fair criticism to be sure, but how much does that matter if the songs are mostly good? I suppose the sameness isn’t a real problem if you’re a fan (which I am), and in some ways the similarities in the music make it easier to distinguish the great from the merely fine. This album has two really great tracks (title cut and “If You Want Blood…”). The rest are mostly fine rockers with the exception of “Night Prowler”, which is a letdown as an album ender. There’s a grittiness to the album that makes it stand out from its contemporaries, but this is solid hard rock for all times.

Dropping the horny-ass rock n roll sledgehammer, as they always do. Bon's a beast. Malcolm's the riffmeister general. Tight rhythm section for Angus to go apeshit over. "[She had] the body of Venus with arms."

Just a bunch of horny Aussie lads playing classic blues rock, but they do it so very, very well.

Sure, it feels like the same song played 10 times over, but it still rocks hard! 🤘🤘

classic

This is a good album. Most of the songs on this album sound exactly like AC/DC, which is awesome, but actually hard to do. Sometimes an album sounds like the same iteration of the same song again and again and that gets boring. This manages to sound exactly like them and unique enough across the board that it doesn't make it boring or tedious.

Big album

Great vocals. Great guitar. Awesome, fat bass sound. This rips

ROCKS.

There can't be many acts that generate such a feeling of being a cliche, parody of, well themselves. The opening song is no longer a song, it's a cheesy movie/TV montage that going to end in explosions. And then the next song starts and its pretty much the same, just with different lyrics, and what poetry. ACDC give you exactly what it says on the tin, they do it well as long as you aren't looking for too much variety. But don't get me wrong, I like the album sometimes basic is what you need, if only occasionally. And I guess it's not the records fault that it's been assimilated into every action film/advert. 3.5 Star, cause sometimes it what you need.

AC/DC as a fantastic band if you’re drunk as hell on a boat on a hot summer day, otherwise they’re kind of hard to listen to

Not a lot of variation but their formula also works so well it’s hard to hate.

Solid classic rock, didn’t really have any skips but don’t know if I’d put it in a regular rotation

Really iconic and entertaining

Liked this! Favs were Get It Hot and If You Want Blood

I've never heard an AC/DC album all the way through, and I have to say it benefits from pausing between the A and B sides. This is a lot of rock music at one time. And it's AC/DC - they don't do ballads, or low tempo numbers, or, well, dynamics, even. But they lay it down like very few bands can. I really like it, actually. The first two tracks are rock radio mainstays, so I was familiar with them, but the let-off in quality I was expecting after those wrapped up didn't happen until the second to last song. Which might have just been Rock Fatigue. "Love Hungry Man" might be the worst song on the album but it is at least trying something a bit different than boilerplate AC/DC, which is fun. Hey ya know what screw it FOUR STARS

Returning back to rating these, and can’t really go wrong with AC/DC. Always consistently good, but also not surprising in any way - so no “wow” factor here either. Enjoyed the tunes though.

Never heard an AC/DC album in full. Beyond the hits of Highway to Hell and If You Want Blood (You Got It) lies an incredibly solid slab of hard rock. While it can be one dimensional at times (as with a lot of AC/DC's music) it was an enjoyable listen none the less.

A great rock album, for sore a very iconic album Fav song - Highway to Hell and Girls Got Rhythm 4/5

One of the greatest rock ‘n’ roll albums of all time.

Classic, simple rock

Not what I would listen to but I understand why this is such a classic

Solid and consitent but lacks stand out tracks. Light 7

Pretty good, love the energy. Favourite Song: Shot Down in Flames Honourable Mention: Highway to Hell, Walk All Over You

very good

Good stuff

he songs are fun, the guitar riffs stick with you, and the title track is an all-time classic. Some parts feel a bit samey, but overall it’s pure energy start to finish. 4 stars

Solid rock, good fun

I'm not sure I'm cool enough for this album.

Might be ACDCs best album.

Hell yeah. If I were growing up when this album came out, and also happened to be an adolescent boy, I imagine I would feel mischievous and badass listening to this. Listening to this felt easy, which made me understand how AC/DC is the Pop artist of the rock genre. Their songs on this album were structured similarly, which felt repetitive at times, but was still enjoyable.

Like A Body Needs Blood 1001 Albums Generator 117 (09/12/2025) Every AC/DC song (and thus every AC/DC album) pretty much sounds the same. But when the sound is this good, you can't really be mad. Highway To Hell is the sixth album by AC/DC and was the last album they recorded with their original vocalist, Bon Scott, before he tragically died. It features their biggest song in the title track and is their second biggest album ever. The title track opens the album and it is so obviously awesome. The chorus, riff, solo, and verses are all iconic. Girls Got Rhythm is another hit that is quite good, especially with the group vocals in the chorus, and Walk All Over You has a bit more of a restrained tempo and a less predictable structure. The opening riff of Beating Around the Bush is really cool; I had not heard that song before. It's bluesy and fun with great call-and-response between the guitar and vocals in the verses. If You Want Blood is a super hype song that just gets me real fired up. I kind of understand people's hesitation when it comes to Bon Scott's vocals; they are definitely quite shrill at times, but it just really works on here honestly. I will also say that although all the songs here are kind of the same, some of them are less than others, with Touch Too Much and Get It Hot being my personal least favorites. Highway To Hell is a great, classic example of a hard rock powerhouse that deserves its iconic status. 4/5. Favs: Highway To Hell Beating Around The Bush If You Want Blood (You've Got It) Least Fav: Get It Hot

Rating: 8.5-9/10 The second half is not as good, but this is amazing. This album is banger after banger track that's head-banging heaven. Simplicity can equate to greatness, and these guys simply have it.

Great album with some great songs. Gets a knock because every song sounds kinda the same; not much range.

Just a lot of fun. It's almost all the same song over and over again. But what a song it is.

Standout Songs: Highway To Hell Girls Got Rhythm Touch Too Much Shot Down in Flames If You Want Blood (You've Got It) Night Prowler

What to say, AC/DC still keeps remaking this record, but for good reason... Not the biggest fan, but the record is fun.

AC/DC found one thing they did well and went all-in with it. I sure wish today's good time party music sounded like this!

4/5 Best Track - "Highway To Hell"

yeah ac/dc writes the same song every time but they all rock

Best AC/DC album in my opinion. Solid pretty much all the way through and filled with awesome riffs. Favorite track: Highway to Hell (Shot Down in Flames a close second)

First AC/DC album that I've listened to in full. It's kind of cheesy I guess, but eh, it's still pretty listenable and I can see why they're popular. Not high art by any means, but it's fun.

Um verdadeiro clássico. Para compilar tudo o que foi o AC/DC com Bon Scott, só faltou a gaita de foles.

Not their best, and kind of all sound the same, but I also like a "usual".

A couple of standout bangers in the title track and Touch Too Much make this album a guaranteed 4 Stars. Rip Bon Scott.

This is easily their best offering. Some real bangers on this one.

Þessi plata byrjar af svo miklum dúndurkrafti að maður æsist allur upp. Lögin sem á eftir koma eru ekkert síðri. Ég viðurkenni alveg fúslega að ég er alltaf til í svona tónlist og mun alltaf gefa henni háa einkunn óháð gæðum tónlistarinnar en þessi fær 4 bara af því að ég veit hvað þeir eiga mikið inni.

You ever heard AC/DC before? Yup. In standard AC/DC fashion, the songs all sound very similar. It's good fun, though, so it's hard to be too cynical about it.

Really great album. I liked it. It brings energy.

Rock and roll.

Clearly, DDDDC > HtH. Why isn’t the former on the list, I wonder?. Still a very enjoyable experience to revisit this classic

Not fancy. Gets the job done. Addresses the issue of middle men in fancy clothes who sit on the fence.

not sure what to say here but uh yeah pretty cool

Much better than the previous offering. More accessible musically to the layperson. The voice can still be quite grating, but it really is some enjoyable rock/metal (Beating Around the Bush was fantastic). I think they’ve earned a 4.

I really care if all sounds the same I really enjoyed it

Consistent

Riffs riffs and more riffs. This is guitar driven with bluesy beats. ACDC at their finest. Much cleaner and cohesive than their previous albums. Although those are great too. This one shows they were ready for the big time. No skips press play and enjoy

They had their formula, and it worked. Fair play. 15-year old me would've given this 5 stars, but they lose marks for the lack of musical bravery. Did it change the world? Yes. Is there better rock music out there? Also yes.

a classic, maybe a little dusty - all great sonds heard 1000 times

Awesome album.

So much energy

Raw, anthemic, rock and roll. Straightforward heavy riffs. Bon Scott's raspy vocals. Angus Young's eclectic, electric soloing. The call and response style backing vocals. Everything ties together to make a proper iconic, energetic album. My only gripe is that later in the album some songs did start to sound just a touch repetitive in places. But overall a great listen. Favourite track - Touch Too Much. 8/10

Felt younger than I expected

Even if you don’t like AC/DC, you have to admit they do what they do well. It’s a great album full of dirty hard rock songs played by great musicians, what more could you ask from AC/DC? It’s not anything life changing, but it’s a good time.

This is another one of those late 70’s / early 80’s bands that remains part of the cultural zeitgeist, but that I never really gave much thought or attention. For me, this period of Rock always fell a little flat. It missed the ambition and experimentation of the 60’s and early 70’s, but didn’t fully lean into the absurdist party vibe of the mid to late 80’s. It feels like a middle child of Rock that didn’t do anything particularly unique or memorable. That said, there’s nothing wrong with this album, and my rating reflects that. Throw it on at a party and no one’s mad, but it just leaves me wanting something more. 4/5 Highlights: Highway to Hell Touch Too Much Beating Around the Bush If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It)

Almost as good as their best

i like. Highlights: title track, “walk over you,” “touch too much”

Gøyalt rockealbum. Gode låter, mye høres helt likt ut så klart. Man merker tydelig at det er noen bluesreferanser i låtene oppbygging og tekst, men ellers en helt egen sjanger. Selvfølgelig er klassikeren her.

As songs, they go hard, but as an album it's very tiring to listen to. Pretty much all Heavy Metal albums have this issue to me, great for being mixed among other songs but as just the album front to back is exhausting.

4 out of 5. Classic rock staple, doesn't deviate but doesn't get boring.

Bon Scott's vocals just hit differently. RIP to a legend, would have loved to see what the band could have become had he not passed away so soon. This thing is pure 70s metal awesomeness.

Just hella fun!

Already knew this one cause classic you know ?

un clasico!

I loved this album!

Ui, das ist schwierig. Natürlich ist das legendär, vor allem im Sound und seiner schlichten Genialität, aber halt auch entsetzlich breitbeinig. Immer diese harten Männer... Musikhistorisch 4-5/5, rein musikalisch 3,5/5, also 4/5

I wasn't sure about this ... I do NOT like the singer for AC/DC. But this wasn't bad. I read Bon Scott was lead singer at the time, but he died after this album was released. So sad, because I liked his voice. The next album - Back in Black - brought us Brian Johnson and was a big hit. But I just can't stand his voice - sorry.

I have a pretty big soft spot for AC/DC. Does every song they’ve ever written sound pretty much the same? Yep. But thankfully, that song is pretty fun. And I could listen to Angus Young solo pretty much all day. Highway to Hell is a classic. 4/5

Yeah, solid.

It's a classic, but not my favorite highway

40 minutes of scorching and horned up hard rock and heavy metal. Incredible to open with “Highway to Hell” and then maintain that energy for an entire album. Bon Scott’s screaming wail is absolutely insane. This is a fun and ridiculous album, but a good time for sure.

I'm glad that "Back to Black" is on this list, which I rated as a 5, because it's a good gauge to help me rate this one. "Highway to Hell" is one of the great rock songs of all time. No other song on the record comes close to that, and even though it's packed with some great other tunes, they are just that... "other tunes" and not huge standout tracks. Regardless, AC/DC are amazing, and this record has no weak spots which I find really impressive. Sure, maybe it lacks a bit of depth because of that, but I think that's a fine tradeoff- don't experiment too much and give me the sound that I want when I put on an AC/DC record. 4.1/5.

Classic! Listened to it on my way home from work 😛

Last album with Bon Scott. To me, this was the end of an era. Truly their last great album. Back in Black is good, but was just not the same as the Bon Scott era. 3.65/5 stars = 4 Can't miss songs: Night Prowler Highway to Hell Walk All Over You Get It Hot

It’s AC/DC. Classic but not fantastic…it’s just AC/DC.

-Highway to Hell is a great song, even if you don't enjoy heavy music. It's also a fantastic way to kick off the album by setting the mood. The singer's voice does get a bit repetitive but I like the guitar solos.

I can now say I thoroughly enjoy AC/DC lol

And I’m going down! All the way down! Sorry, just had to get that out, this album is a lot better than I thought it was gonna be. I’ve liked AC/DC, but I’ve never loved them as a lot of their songs are played a lot, so I figured that this album would basically just be a collection of singles, and it was…But it was a collection of really good singles. Singles that actually work together due to most of the songs having a similar subject matter. So what I’m saying is it actually works as an album. This album was the last album to feature the late Bon Scott, whose vocals are great, though unnatural. Everyone would agree that both AC/DC frontmen have strange voices. The Young brothers are a great addition the band, with Malcolm laying down some crunchy rhythms, and Angus dishing out some great riffs and solos. Cliff Williams bass and Phil Rudd’s drumming are both essential to giving the album that hard rock sound that AC/DC is known for. Overall, I’d say it was definitely a great album, and I feel as though it got me to change my tune on AC/DC.

C'est douche, c'est cave, y'a pas de balade. Bravo.

I enjoyed it! All the songs sounded more or less the same but Highway to Hell is really good and so are all the other songs love it! ACDC is cool and I like Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap I'll give it a nice 4

Talk about iconic. You hear that lick and you're a kid again, no matter where you are, what you're doing. You're in a hot rod on route 66 probably. Angus has always been a firecracker and a really capable, steady frontman. It's got that fun firey nature a lot of rock albums completely fucking forget about. Electrifying really. Rock was everything back then. This album makes me wanna go shoot pool and drink beers all night. I mean as a rock band, AC/DC was everything a rock band should be-- and what they should sound like too. I like the speedier parts a bit more than the meat and potatoes bits- Beating Around the Bush being a standout for sure. A lot of this album is meat and potatoes driving drums, searing guitars and licks, Angus being Angus, and that's all good fun for the cookout. Night Prowler is for sure the blusiest on the album and It's honestly a great closer. The 80s were off to a great start. Also kinda odd that for an Australian band like, how big they got in the USA. Your parents fucking love AC/DC.

There's nothing subtle about AC/DC, but if you want high energy Rock...

Yes, every song sounds the same. That just means every song sounds like Highway to Hell, which is an all time classic. The rest of the tracks run together, but it's all good. Back in Black is better.

Does anyone care about anything on this album beyond Highway to Hell?

God yes. I accidentally turned the volume down while listening to this briefly, and shamed myself for doing so. This requires full throttle. What’s that you say?? Every AC/DC song is the same? Perhaps you should shut up, nerd, and let this ballad free session of rock shower over you. Also the last one is in 6/8. Shows what you know.

Just some good ol rock and roll. I still don’t hear “season ticket…” Solid all the way through

Solid straight down the fairway rock. Reserving some points for the album that comes next... 4/5

No daje kopa. Taka trochę naiwna, ale pełna dobrej energii muzyka. Nie za ciężka (to jak o deserze - nie za słodkie), ale no jak sama nazwa zespołu wskazuje elektryzująca. 7/10

good i liked

Ac/dc basically have one song but that one song is good. Back in black is a better album but this is great

4/5 stars 5 star - "Highway to Hell" Classic album Starts high octane, levels out 4 tracks in. Last Bon Scott album.

I loved this. Probably because of my dad haha. I do think a lot of it sounds similar but that’s ok because it’s a damn good song. I really liked if you want blood (you’ve got it).

me ha sorprendido para bien, aunque ya dana dolor de cabeza la voz del cantante. Es literalmente como me imagino que suenan los 70’s. Me he guardado algunas canciones.

I mean lets face it, it is one of those albums that he word "classic" is made for! ACDC, especially the Bon Scott era, cannot be fucked with!

solid and emotional album

Sounds great, still. New favorite ‘Beatin’ Around the Bush’

The album is decent, but pretty samey. It pops off with Highway to Hell at the start, Touch Too Much is even better, and Night Prowler is pretty good, but the rest of the album is just good for background music.

Crass, simple music for knuckle dragging cretins. What a fun album.

Glorious rock from go to woah. Shot Down in Flames is a song I hadn't heard but has flavours of Thunderstruck. Give the people what they want.

Most of this album is a light version of the songs we know so well from them.

I liked it

Täytti odotukset!

Kyyyl!! Pari ei niin hyvää rallia mutta kokonaisuudessaan rautainen levy.

Olihan se kova.

AC/DC, known for their bluesy-rock and schoolboy outfits, brings their Catholic Faith into full view on this album. This rich concept album begins with the tales of a young man (absolutely NOT autobiographical on Bon or the Young Brothers part) journey starting with their subjugation to sin as they reconcile their Highway to Hell (very Catholic). Songs like Touch to Much and Walk Over You masterfully represent the moral conflict the protagonist is feeling toward his lustful habits as these are a continue part of the Highway monologue. But, while in an amorous moment he meets a girl whose is of Catholic Rhythm methods (Girls Got Rhythm) squelch his sexual desire leaving him open to the concepts of redemption. This trial is graphically detailed in his fall from grace with songs like Shot Down in Flames and Get It Hot, where the fear of eternal damnation overtakes him, and finally he finds salvation in You Want Blood where he accepts the sacrifices of the divine and Love Hungry Man where he accepts his need to spiritual growth. But, he is aware that the Night Prowler is ever lurking to take him back. It is spiritually uplifting and should be played in every church at high volume. …and completely crap. After 340 albums. I thought I’d mix it up. Great album though, and a cheers to the great Bon Scott.

Random thoughts: * If Back to Black is the Mona Lisa of cock rock, Highway to Hell is the Vitruvian Man of cock rock. * Not as loaded with well know hits but all the songs rock. * Highway to Hell is pretty ironic considering Bon Scott's fate. * You can't really go wrong with rocking out to this not quite a classic. Rock on!

How many billions of streams??? What an incredible energy for an album to have, and those guitars! If I recorded this album, the police would have had to shoot me to death.

Love it. Great album

You can hear the seeds of AC/DC going from the world’s greatest bar band to arena rock legends over the course of this album. It’s just a shame that Bon Scott couldn’t hold it together and would go on to die at 33 the next year. The band is tighter, precise, at the top of their game, with the kinds of riffs that would propel them to superstardom. And yet the key is Bon, who is slowly turning from raucous emcee to masterful frontman over the course of this one record. Honestly, AC/DC never sounded better than this, and as shown in the muddle of Back in Black, they never really would reach this height again.

Great rock album.

Classic for a reason. Starts off very strong with highway to hell then just keeps that going. Short sweet and gets you in a good mood id say. Specific rating - 4.4 Fav song- highway to Hell Least fav- love hungry man

Knew that I liked these guys, but never had the chance to listen to the whole thing. Thanks for the suggestion.

This is the album where AC/DC got their shit together, integrated the targeting systems on their love/hate missile and reinvented rock music. I prefer Malcolm Young's vocals to Bon Scott's (who died shortly after recording this album) mostly because Back in Black and For Those About to Rock dominated my adolescence, but the corralled chaos of him makes this album largely perfect except for the blues drag of "Night Prowler."

Bon Scott went out on a high note. Or, rather, a raspy wail. RIP. Are all the songs on this album perfect? No. They never are. That was never AC/DCs thing. But even the worst AC/DC song is still stupid fun.

Brilliant album. First time listening to it all the way through.

Well what can you say about this? It's an absolute classic. The last one with Bon as front man. The title track is as, whatever the word is, today as it's ever been. And there are some great rock songs on here beside the 3 singles. I do possess this album, and had it on tape with Back in Black, the first Brian album. They complement each other so well. Back though to this one, it's a great album, but not perfect. Sorry Bon, Angus, Salcombe, et al but it's not a 5 a very strong 4 definitely

Despite so many suspect lyrics I really like this album. I’ll prefer to assume that all of their obvious hornyness is aimed in completely legal ways. That way I can just enjoy the great and cliched ‘rock’ style and the gravelly vocals.

Reminds of poker nights and guitar lessons! Fun!

Music to suit my parental status. 666 stars

Bon scotts vocals are primally powerful and down under. This is classic high powered sex drugs and rock and roll.

Rock and fucking Roll.

Omg yesterday I listened to Pet Sounds. I wanted to cut my ears of. This is the perfect antidote. Dirty, loud, simple. No theremins or clown horns or fricking harmonies. Get some. Four stars. (Fuck Morrissey)

Excellent, timeless album. It also happens to contain my all-time favorite AC/DC song: If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It). Its only real flaw is that it’s not Back in Black, but I think it proves that they’d have still taken that leap with or without Bon Scott.

Opens with a banger and stays strong from there

AC/DC albums are always just fun. I was very happy to see this come up in the rotation. Obviously nothing artistically deep is going on here but meh, I'll take that over something that's a chore to get through.

All time classic album!

Pretty average but gets an extra point for Highway to Hell

One of my favorite AC⚡️DC songs of all time!

It’s hard to dislike this. 70s/80s hard rock is by no means a favorite genre of mine, but where most of their peers tire me out by seemingly trying too hard, going over the top more often than not, AC/DC appear more concerned with keeping everything “in the pocket.” They know what they’re good at and they keep it pretty simple. That approach, I think, fits the genre so much better. This album, while not offering a lot of range, is fun as hell, sounds great, is full of energy, and doesn’t overextend itself. (I must also admit that Jack Black’s character from School of Rock, Dewey Finn, was a huge influence on my feelings about various “classic rock” bands, and AC/DC gets a lot of prominent love in that movie.) Must-listen #151!

Solid rock and roll. Light 4/5.

Some really good songs, but it feels kind of like listening to the same song a few times in a row. With enough re-listens I think this feeling might fade because on the second listen I didn't feel that way as much. Favourites were: Highway to Hell, If You Want Blood, and Night Prowler.

Much better tolerating the vocals then I expected! Good music for vacation Beating around the bush Got it hot

3.75 There are some elements that I really like here but somehow I can't see myself listening to this too much, I feel saturated after a few songs (Night Prowler is quite nice though). It would probably sound better to my ears with cruder production and audio quality lol.

Classic

A classic. Anybody will like this rock style.

Every once in a while this is really on point and solid to listen to. The problem is classic rock radio has worn out these songs so much it losses all of its impact. The guitar is so distinct and punchy, the vocals are top shelf and the composition is just appropriate and perfect for what they're trying to convey.

Album #500!!! Halfway complete! AC/DC has a signature sound that is hard not to love. The album is a bit uneven, with the hits being great but the rest of the album being a bit of a slog. But while it ebbs a bit, it's still a pretty good listen. Night Prowler is pretty creepy and is the low point of the album IMO. Fav song: If You Want Blood (You've Got It)

The songs all sound the same, but hey it works. Normally that kind of thing would get boring but I'm not even mad. The guitar and vocals are sick

Bon Scott was one hell of a front man. I still stand by AC/DC being a guilty pleasure, and I especially enjoy their early stuff.

It's a rock classic, obviously. It encapsulates very well the AC/DC sound, and it's very consistent with it. The tracks are pretty high energy, good instrumentation and pretty compact and well written. The topics are varied and pretty light, very on par for the genre without getting too deep. Scott's singing is very distinctive and intense, the delivery is good although at times his tone can be a bit much. My favourite song was probably "Highway to Hell", it's just a classic and it remains as good as ever. Overall, the album is pretty cohesive and works well, it doesn't outlive its welcome but instead just powers through for the whole lenght.

It was okay but i've listened to it a lot of times before so it's not new.

AC/DC’s 1979 release neatly summarizes the metal of the ‘70s and paves the way for the metal of the ‘80s.

Rock and roll!! Awesome sound here

Stone cold classic

Energypilled. Previously listened to 4 songs off of This album (Highway to Hell; Girls Got Rhythm; Touch Too Much; Night Prowler) AC/DC has got to be the only band that can sing the same song in different variants without boring me. This rocked. Favorite Song: Night Prowler

Great album

If your life depended on rocking and rocking hard for 3.5 minutes I'd hit you with some AC/DC. They get right to the essence of rocking. That's about all they do though. A one a tool player that fucking crushes that one tool. Feel like this is a 3 but giving an honorary 4 because I'm not sure how much AC/DC we'll get. I'm a Bon Scott guy and frequently listen to "Jailbreak" and for some reason his cadence at the beginning of the song make me laugh every time.

I’m not sure why I love AC/DC but hate Van Halen. Both bands play simple three chord lighthearted hard rock about the joys of being a dickhead, but with AC/DC I find this ethos completely charming and even life-affirming, but w Van Halen find it repugnant and depressing. Maybe it’s the subtle difference between being cheeky (bon scott) and cheesy (Roth). That, and Angus Young just fucking rocks, where VH always feels like he’s trying to impress you. Every song is basically the same thing but who cares? There are few bands in history better to drive a car too than AC/DC

One of the first albums my parents let my brothers and I buy was AC/DC Live -- a compilation of their live hits. We had those songs in our iTunes library forever. One of the funniest things I remember was that the song titles were not automatically scraped from the CD, so we had to name the tracks ourselves. In order to protect ourselves from the profanity, we named Highway to Hell "highway to..." 😂 Us good catholic boys doing our best to let Satan only have a small slice of our lives Theres a lot to love about this album, but I'll go right ahead and say it that its not ACDC's best - Back In Black is far superior. Highway To Hell, Touch Too Much, If you want blood, love hungry man and night prowler are great power tunes. The stories in the wikipedia were really fun to read. I didn't know that a third Young brother (George) was involved as the original producer for the band and was practically kicked out by the record company. Sounds like producer Mutt really brought the band to new heights though.

I am the panopticon of music your dad enjoys. No take escapes me. The wheel remains unchanged, but I'm not convinced there’s anything wrong with that. It rips without any major hiccups. 7.7/10 Favorite Song: Walk All Over You

Quite a bit better than I expected and actually really enjoyed it. 4 stars

This was awesome. Great rock album.

Is there anything of intellectual value on this album? Of course not. But if you want that, go listen to jethro tull or something. AC/DC’s simplistic style of rock n’ roll works wonders and establishes this album as a classic. Bon Scott gives a tremendous performance, his last before he would go down his own highway to hell less than a year later. Night Prowler kicks ass. If I was a serial killer (Richard Ramirez) it would be my favorite song too. Also the title track is an all time classic. The eight songs between them ain’t too bad either. Beating around the bush has a great guitar riff, as does if you want blood you got it. A lot of the songs sound alike, but that’s kinda the point. The world has enough music that takes itself seriously. We need more music for delinquents.

Its AC/DC so everything sounds the same, good or bad at least you know what your getting. This has always been a fun album.

This is #day269 of my #1001albumsyoumusthearbeforeyoudie challenge, and... here's to my second AC/DC album on this list. If I gave this a 5, that would put AC/DC among my favorite artists, and I'm not sure that's the case. I'm fine with hearing this band on classic rock radio, but I rarely put it on by myself if ever. That said, this record is fun. Forty minutes of sheer hard rock classics. There's something darkly ironic about calling an album Highway to Hell and then losing your frontman right after, though... What came next, of course, is one of the greatest comeback albums in rock history, and I've always preferred it. This is a 4 out of 5. Looking forward to #day270.

Fav: If You Want Blood (You Got It) Least Fav: Night Prowler They’re not trying to reinvent the wheel, they’re just playing what they know best, and it’s not bad

Pretty cool story of how these guys tightened up their sound for this album -- eventually leading to even better stuff in the 80s. Less cool story of how the lead singer died of alcohol poisoning just after this release. I had no idea.

Besides the iconic title track, the rest of the album was enjoyable but not necessarily spectacular.

I half listened. I like highway to hell lol i m just not feeling loud rn

Very good and iconic classic rock album. Strong individual tracks, and generally enjoyable to listen through, although like most hard rock has an obviously intense nature that doesn’t quite lend itself to all settings for listening.

Bien mais tu as eu trop le temps d’écouter. Commencer à regarder la série last of us. Promenade vers les bas sablons avant de récupérer les enfants. Démarrage de la FMD (diet)

Classic hard rock. Typical AC/DC.

Not as good as Back in Black but still legendary

Classic Rock.

L'album qui m'a fait découvrir le Hard Rock dans les années 80 ! Toujours un plaisir à écouter, même si mes gout musicaux ont beaucoup évolué depuis ce temps là. =>4/5

Evergreen

yeah you already know i like the title track. my guilty pleasure is also screamer hard rock and i appreciate how this album is inching towards that. “touch too much” was pretty good as well. overall a solid album, would probably rate 4/5.

The album is great would rate it an 8/10

I've not fully listened to AC/DC before this, only catching them on the radio. Great album! Definitely want to check out more of them now

Kickass

I like AC/DC. I don't love them. They wrote one song, changed the lyrics and the timing on that one song, and played it 10 times on every album. And no one got tired of it. AC/DC's music is so similar from track to track it's commendable to even have a career with that much same old same old. But they had/have a hell of a career. But hey, one hell of a single song. 4/5

Great album. Bon Scott will always be the best AC/DC frontman.

Parhaat: Highway To Hell, Girls Got Rythm, Love Hungry Man

Great rock songs Becomes a bit one-liner and chorus heavy and therefor becomes slightly repetitive

What can I say? An absolute classic rock album. Fantastic

Solid rock album. Probably 3.5 stars

there is perhaps no brighter example of the fact that ppl's articulated opinions on art are not necessarily a 100% consistent barometer for their actual visceral perception of the universe then the fact that i rly enjoyed this lol. and rly just the fact that, in general, for a variety of contradictory reasons based on my own attempts at articulation, i have Never had an anti-ac/dc period. im not sure i can do any guesswork as to why that wont seem embarrassingly date/off the mark in the couple years like the last few times i tried to explain myself FSFHJSFHJ but this Is the first time ive actually sat down with a record of theirs in full (the fact that ive heard every fugking deep cut on back in black get radio play doesn't count!) so my Sustained Enjoyment across more than just some comfortably nostalgic singles does imply that there is some underlying enabling factor between me and them...certainly for this period it's bon scott, who carries none of the reservations i sometimes have about brian johnson and just in general kind of illustrates all the little idiosyncrasies of their monolithic personality as a band...grimey, precise, earthy, confident, affable, performatively nasty in the most obviously harmless way possible. definitely feels like hanging out with a Specific Kind Of Person who u know well enough to have that bubble of safety over every dumb tasteless thing they say. and despite my general lack of aptitude for mid tempo stompers, it rly does speak to the young brothers that every same-sounding riff and anthemic chorus and song structure they slap together still tickles my ears in a perfectly enjoyable way, they have their formula down to a science and its hard for it to feel lazy when they just genuinely seem to get something out of it every single time. one of my previous Bad Guesses at why i liked ac/dc was that they "dont take themselves too seriously", i think its more that there's a strangely vulnerable quality to the entire enterprise, so many easily mockable or dismissable things inherent to their whole thing, and they are just so confident in it that they never miss a beat or feel beholden to any kind of outside pressure. its kind of comforting! im sure ill enjoy back in black too when it pops up

It’s AC/DC man, you need a road map? Highway to Hell might be my favorite of the Bon songs. The greatest loss the band took when he died was his sense of humor. Bon was fucking funny, something Brian can’t match.

Det må va att jag aldrig gick igång på hårdrock före Metallica. Men jävlar villa gitarrer! 4 plus!

Banger

Liked this a whole lot more than I thought I would. Dig that song from Empire Records.

Have on vinyl: Yes. Rating: 8.15 Fav Song: hard not to pick the title track, but going with If You Want Blood (you've got it)

Have on vinyl: Yes. Rating: 8.15 Fav Song: hard not to pick the title track, but going with If You Want Blood (you've got it)

"She had...the body of Venus with arms" - let's go Touch Too Much! A rock guitar and stadium rock clinic, era defining sound, guitar riffs that'll make you want to kneel and pray to the fretboard gods, fantastic vocal screeching with those fist pumping rhythms. Sexual innuendo throughout that inspired the eras other greats, definitely one to listen to loud.

Classic. That being said, there is validity in the criticism that all of the songs sound the same.

Hell yeah.

God I can’t wait for public transportation to be more mainstream

not as good as Back in Black but still really good

Muy bueno

I remember being a kid in the early 2000s downloading all the music Limewire and Kazaa could provide me. AC/DC was one of my favorite bands, and I remember listening to a bunch of these songs. So this has given me a lot of nostalgia. All of these songs stick to the successful AC/DC formula, which is great, but I can't give it more than a 4 for that reason. Lots of great songs, but if you're looking for variety, well, you're probably not listening to full AC/DC albums.

ok i actually fw this one a lot more than back in black

When I first heard these Aussies I thought it was some sort of parody band. A parody of what… I had no idea. But then I got it and realized they were an original rock band. Heavy Metal had been recharged and these guys did it.

I may be a little biased in my liking for this album given I come from a country where this bands lyrics could be used in dictation tests, hell I wouldn't be shocked if giving this less than a 5 will have me flagged by ASIO. I have heard this emanating like an aura from most if not all construction sites. I have seen actual religious iconography used of Bon Scott beyond the Let There Be Rock music video. Aside from the title track there are a few other standouts, some of which may or may not bring back memories of my family members playing these songs on full blast with their copy of AC/DC Live: Rock Band for the Wii. I'm also of the camp that thinks Touch Too Much is better than the title song.

WHICH WAY AUSTRALIAN MUSICIAN SONG ABOUT FUCKING SONG ABOUT HOW MUCH OF A MAD CUNT YOU ARE RIP BON SCOTT DRINKING A SLAB OF MIDDIES IN YOUR HONOUR

Yeah, it rips. AC/DC still crushing it here. Minimal duds, mostly just rock to listen to while doing manual labor and/or drinking. 8/10

Good old fashioned head banger! Straight up!

AC/DC - stuff of the legends for sure, not a daily listen, but no taste acquire needed unlike I presupposed

What Len used to call his 12th wife’s Brazilian! 4.1
