Reviews (page 7 of 13)
One of my fav AC/DC albums!
The songs really rock, and it is clearly a great album, but it still doesn't fully connect with me. I think I would want to hear AC/DC live, as sometimes the potency of these radio hits is reduced when you hear them as background music your whole life.
4.5 really
Not their best one - OK!
A classic record, carried mostly by its opening track. Can’t really go wrong with an album with Bon Scott and his energy. [0106/1001]
Simple songs I listen to from time to time. Get a good feeling then.
AC/DC is always a party and this record is no different - I somehow can’t resist a good romp by this band - and maybe this is not their best outing - but I still enjoyed the brainless fun it exudes.
A very engaging rock ‘n’ roll album. I really liked the lead vocals, his voice was very unique, and of nostalgic of that era. The opening song was of course, the best one on the album, but the rest were not half bad. I am excited to keep listening.
Classic rock and roll album. Great from start to finish
The title track "Highway to Hell" is a great classic hard rock track; the rest of the album is also good, but not great, although I really liked "Beating Around the Bush".
I'd listen to those lead vocals sing anything. Normally not something I'd love, but the vocals sold me. I don't think I'd wanna check out more of AC/DC if their lyrics are all the same, though.
All time classic. But to me not the best acdc album, it is too slickly produced. Has a commercial American sound that to me doesn't suit them. Still great songs though
great to hear the songs on this album that weren't big hits / singles
Night prowler, highway to hell, touch too much,
AC/DC does one trick, really well - making music for cruising down the open road with reckless abandon. A highway to hell, for instance.
Rock solid album. Not my favourite from AC/DC, but it has some awesome tracks. While I don't think this one is perfect front-to-back, it still scores big points for hosting iconic songs. Great listen overall. Fave tracks: Highway to Hell, Beating Around the Bush, If You Want Blood (You've Got It)
Every high school and college boy's heavy metal dream, Highway to Hell is a classic... if you like that sort of thing. It's puerile, aggressive, and misogynist (seriously, Love Hungry Man?). Despite that, Highway to Hell and, especially, the lead off song of the same name, is pure party music. If you are uncomfortable with music that no longer would be considered politically correct, then why the hell are you listening to AC/DC at all? If you can see it for what it is - pure, loud, obnoxious party music - and not be bothered by it then you'll love this album.
Solid album, reminds me of movies with Adam Sandler and Jack Black growing up.
If you love high energy power guitar (which I do) then this is the album for you. I felt like I was doing dishes at triple speed while headbanging to this. I knew the majority of the songs going into this so it was cool to listen to the rest of the album. It did not disappoint on the shredding level. Love Hungry Man was such a change of pace, but I really liked it especially the little bass lick that would come in every so often. I have never gotten super into ACDC even though I know a huge amount of their songs, but I am really hoping another album comes up on this list because this was awesome to listen to a full album by them
I really don’t know much AC/DC but Highway to Hell is so iconic and instantly reminds me of Little Nicky. Great tune. The rest of this album is consistent as hell. Usually not a huge fan of a lot of these arena type bands but this album rocked. Also huge appreciation for Bon Scott’s voice. Never realized how great it is besides the usual AC/DC hits.
Very listenable and great to work to.
So, so very good.
Very good rock album
Brainless hard rock music but I'm here for it. Stand-out: If You Want Blood (You've Got It)
I really like AC/DC's straightforward rock. Great riffs, good solos. I like the vocals. Gotta get it at least a 3.5, so we'll go 4.
Very overplayed but still a timeless album. A plethora of songs in here eligible for the most notorious rock song ever.
Always love some AC/DC. This might be my favorite from the early years.
Rock and roll distilled to its purest essence: driving guitars, thumping bumping bass, and simple hard-hitting drums, AC/DC perfected a formula and figured, why fix what ain't broke? Highway to Hell establish the tone, and the rest of the album follows closely after. As one review wrote, it's big ol' bowl of chocolate ice: each bite tastes the same, but that's not the fault of the ice cream. You either dig it or you don't. Got to admire their consistency and dedication to creating fun, energetic music without pretensions. Not something I would play regularly, but it sure makes for good driving music, or if I ever needed to drink a 30 rack of P.B.R while pretending to fix my car, this would certainly be a fitting soundtrack.
Van dik hout zaagt men planken rampetamp ouwemannenrock.
This must have been insane back in the day, lol
Solid throughout. Don’t know if I like this or Back in Black more. Rating: 4.2
i had fun
I mean, it’s an AC/DC album but they go so hard. If you’re in the mood for it, it could be a 5. If you don’t like the AC/DC sound this album won’t convert you since it’s almost the same song over and over again
You know what you’re gonna get with the thunder from down under. Heavy riffs and old school rock n roll lyrics. Not a classic like Back in Black, but still rocks hard
Title track and Touch Too Much are standouts, the rest is just consistent head bopping toe tapping rock n roll.
Bangin' head-shakin' rock from Australia's best ever band. Don't expect anything sophisticated, just enjoy.
Rockin’
hard not to enjoy
It is straight up 10 headbanger songs. For some almost, for some just... legendary. 4.5/5.
What can we say. Epic rock legends with the songs we know and love. Hard now to believe it was "hard rock" as it sounds like classic rock to hear it again today. Nice to hear, a staple band and one I'm pretty much always up for the way some dudes like Metallica.
16/20
Good old school rock and roll.
marge simpson
It’s got highway to hell and then all the songs sound the same.though there’s nothing wrong with that.Bit disappointing tho.
"Highway to Hell" is an historical track. Reaching almost 1'5B streams on Spotify, it display stats usually obtained by recently released #1 tracks. All of this while being a 70s record. AC/DC's sound is impossible to dislike and it is constant during this album. There are no bad songs included. However, at times, I would not be able to tell different tracks apart. I miss more songs that do their own thing within the album. Great listen.
L'àlbum comença fantàstic, amb una de les cançons més icòniques de la història. Però després d'unes quantes cançons perd força i passa a ser molt normalet. Si no fos per un parell de temes que el salven, es quedaria en 3 estrelles.
AC/DC is one of the instantly recognizable bands of hard rock, and Highway To Hell is one of their most recognizable songs. This probably AC/DC’s second best album (behind Back In Black), and one of the two AC/DC albums I own (along with Back In Black). They’re very good at what they do. That said, they’re a bit of a one trick pony. 4+/5
Classic, the opening is iconic, not my everyday listen but love it
I was always a Bon Scott man. Brian Johnson era AC/DC is great, but they lost a bit of that heavy, almost thrash metal, grit after Bon Scott. This is up there as AC/DC's best, short of High Voltage and Dirty Deeds.
Always playing when I was a baby
Classic rock.
Classic.
God bless Angus Young for those sweet sweet guitar hooks he was put on this earth to provide us with.
I have a soft spot for AC/DC, meaning I love their version of hard rock. But one star off for being over played, which isn't really their fault but still there's only so many times I can hear them scream the song before it gets old. Can't wait for that long awaited acoustic coffee house version of the album to come out...
Bon Scott's last studio album with AC/DC saw them lay down some convincing blues tracks with some memorable riffs. Still sounds good today
Classics
A hard rock classic. Catchy riffs, anthemic choruses, tight sound. Highway to Hell, Touch Too Much, Beating Around the Bush are standouts, but Love Hungry Love Man gets a mention for having a disco-ish rhythm. Overall a great album!
Fun album, Highway to Hell and Girls Got Rhythm best tracks but all solid. Some headbangers, solos, cool music
Bon Scott era AC/DC Is a bit too before my time for it to have really been on my radar but I have to say this is my kind of music even though classic rock isn’t my first rock love. From the song everyone has heard of in Highway to Hell which of a little cliched you have to admit is a cracking opening track, to the final slightly plodding finale Night Prowler there isn’t a bad record on this album. I’m giving the prize for my favourite song to Beating Around the Bush. And a solid 4/5 for the album
Highway to hell ❤️
Good album, well done.
Very good
Not their best album, but definitely up there.
Well that was AC/DC, they have a sound and they stuck to it for all 10 songs, good job guys
I do love ACDC. They are great fun. I think they are a band that people take too seriously, for me they are basically a big pop band doing heavy metal, it's silly, it's fun, a lot of it sounds the same, but that's fine. However, I do find that the best ACDC album is a greatest hits, because, each album only has a couple of bangers on it. This album only really has Highway to Hell and Shot Down in Flames, but the rest don't hit those highs. Still, I do love it.
Good
Great guitar tone and iconic vocals from the late Bon Scott, but overall this album can get redundant sounding very quickly.
Second favorite album. A lot of rock and roll going on with Angus and the boys.
Starts to all blend together as you progress through the album, but it rocks from start to finish.
My favorite AC/DC album.
Some iconic tracks (Highway to Hell, If You Want Blood) and some other highlights (Night Prowler). Also, some samey sounding songs (most of the rest). Bon Scott has such an iconic voice and sounds great on this album! Oh course the rest of the band always sound great too. 4.5/5
8.3
Solid, simple hard rock to bang your head.
cool to listen to but very repetitive
Enjoyable classic album
Good album. One if their best
Pienenä ac dc sekasolmuun hirveä tapahtuma.. Pamahdus ja puf pof.. Mies sentään ennallaan... Heh.. Sähkö kirpas vaan ei tapa.. Sähkö on sinistä.. sinivalkone on lippumme.. Great album. From Bon Scott’s tongue-in-check lyrics combined with Angus Young’s lead guitar riffs and solos, and Malcom Young’s rhythm work (whose timing that you could set a watch to) the album just rocks. The album doesn’t have a bad song on it. Aside from the hit title track, my favorites are “Touch Too Much”, “Beating Around the Bush”, “If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It) and “Night Prowler”.
Loved it! The worlds best pub band? Was good to do my work out to! No surprises but good solid rock !
Very School of Rock
A classic rock album, only one known song so didn't have much connection going through so It doesn't reach the highs of other ACDC albums.
I like rock and this is perfectly adequate.
Rock on!
Great bar rock album. Would listen again.
Perfect dose of energy.
8/10
Damn I'm old
Perhaps one of the records that shaped bands a lot musically in the oncoming decades! While I don't love AC/DC that much, I appreciate what they did in music and it's just fun music. But I could put on almost any album by them, and have that same fun feeling. They have their own special place in music. I'd like to think if it wasn't for this band, a lot of later bands would sound quite different. 8 out of 10
4.5
AC/DC Really simple and generic rock but they do it well. All kind of sounds the same but that’s fine. Highway to hell is great. Tough to rate- 3? 4?
Classic great sounding rock album. Pretty generic, I feel like if you’ve heard one you’ve heard them all. Still fun to listen to
I enjoy AC/DC but I’m never going to put it on willingly. Compared to most of the stuff we have been listening to recently this is like a 100 but no song captures my attention for long.
-highway to hell is literally one of the most known songs ever -however it is very good -i mean cmon, its ACDC -all these songs are very good but i was expecting that -kings of rock fr fr -every song is really good and also iconic -so for that, it is getting four stars from me
Great album that mixes thrash metal with pop sensibilities. Its to bad dads ruined this album for me.
Is it weird that I prefer Highway to Hell to Back in Black? The songs on it just tend to be faster paced than those on the next album. Anyway, AC/DC have always been a great band, but not amazing. Both their records in the book deserve to be here, but they’re not super amazing or anything. Title track is a classic. Songs are great. Give it a listen if you like this kind of classic rock.
Excellent.
Surprisingly good, I was expecting all the songs to sound the same...they didn't! good album.
Banger! amongst bangers. Classic, rough and growly, and lovely.
"She told me to go to Hell." R.I.P Bon! Fav Track: Shot Down in Flames
quite good Aerosmith vibes
The body of Venus WITH ARMS
Album 93 of 1001 AC/DC - Highway to Hell Rating : 4 / 5 Favorite Track : Girls Got Rhythm Won't go down in history as the most though provoking album, but a good way to spend your listening time. Starts out strong and keeps up all the way through. A couple of songs stronger than the others, but all are very much AC/DC. Enjoyable album.
I used to hate this lot when I was a kid. Hated all “metal” because I was a bit of a mod. So I started listening to them a while ago and they’ve done some bloody good albums and this is one of them.
If you like AC/DC this album is perfect. I like AC/DC well enough, but not enough to give this album a 5. All of the songs sound pretty similar.
Classic Hard Rock album but in my opinion not the best of AC/DC as I prefer Dirty Deeds. Still great to listen to and the last with Bon Scott's amazing vocals. 3.5/5 Highlights: Highway To Hell, Touch Too Much, If You Want Blood (You've Got It)
Highway to Hell is one of the most iconic Aussie rock albums, in the history of rock albums. Who can beat the thumping beats of Angus Young's guitars, and Bon Scott's piercing vocals? Best: Highway To Hell Worst: Beating Around the Bush
Decent album, like most of the songs but some are not my fav.
There’s something so comfortable about AC/DC. They’re just so damn good at what they’re doing and what they’re doing is damn good. Love Hungry Man was the only miss for me but it wasn’t even that bad. Sharp, fun rock here 4 stars
Is the album more than the single? Walk All Over You has a strong showing. Beating Around The Bush is another strong track. Night Prowler is a strong closer. So this album is mid at best, but I am partiatal to the AC/DC sound. The lyrics are pretty cringe at times but I love that classic guitar tone.
Before listening to this album today, I had only heard Thunderstruck, Back in Black, and Highway to Hell. This album was literally 40 minutes of Highway to Hell, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Yes, they could've been a little more creative, but what works works. What can I say. 4/5 stars easily.
Entraînant, motivant (même pour travailler hehe)
Title track is played to death and doesn't do anything good for me anymore. Girl's got rhythm is really good though. Record has really good drive (tempo, guitar riffs and drum rhythms). Didn't expect this record to be this impressive overall.
Not as good as Back in Black, but still a good time. You know what you're in for from the title track and there are no surprises beyond how fun the same song ten times is. It's a driving fast album, simple as. 16/06/23
LP
Classic rock at its finest
Great album, very pure sound that shines through on every track. Positive energy all around. Positive surprise: Girls Got Rhythm, didn't know this one but it's nice.
Not the best AC/DC album, but it's AC/DC. A good album with some of their best songs on, particularly the title track. Well worth 4 stars.
Just as sure as a Gibson SG's tone is dirty and sweet, if you liked rock of any kind in the 80s, you had to acknowledge AC/DC. Like maybe you put a button or patch on your jean jacket on one end of the spectrum or at the other end you knew Highway to Hell at least and would throw horns when it came on. Coming out in '79, none of this was my soundtrack and it definitely wasn't my look, but all them older kids made sure I heard it. Maybe you're like me and find it hard to truck with an album oozing objectification out of nearly every pore, but casual, mid-tempo eighties rock rarely sounds as good as AC/DC's output here and on Back in Black.
This a decent rock album, not too audacious, just plain good solid rock and roll. You might find it a tad flavorless after a bit (like gum you've chewed for too long), but it will still be enjoyable.
Surprisingly enjoyable. Used to lambast a childhood friend that he only liked acdc because his dad did. Turns out his dad was just cooler than I realised. If I'd grown up in this era I think this would be my jam. Pass me the air guitar
Love a bit of AC/DC and this album starts with a banger. Not sure I had listened to a whole album of theirs before but thought this was great. Does get a bit samey by the end but it didn't put me off. Highlights: Highway to Hell Walk All Over You Touch Too Much If You Want Blood (You've Got It)
Classic rock
Bon Scott better than Brian Johnson?
A classic. Not really my style, but still good classic rock that paved the way for other artists. 8/10.
Pulsing riff-rock, pretty catchy tunes
It's a good album, but let's be honest, it's only got one great song. But wow, what a song. On that alone, it gets four stars. If it had another great song, it could be a five. Like "Back in Black".
A rock classic, some great songs and only a small amount of filler.
4.0 - If this album were a sexual encounter, it’d be the one random pickup at the bar who’s a little rough-looking but has a smoking body. You rush home together, and with no preamble they get on top to grind and thrust you both to climax. You catch your breath but before you can drift off to sleep, they’re back on top for round 2. When it’s over they give you a playful thigh slap, and throw on their jeans before slinking off into the night with a lit cigarette. You see them around town once in a while and give a smile and a nod.
Solid album in terms of vocals. Bon Scott was very talented.
Title track is an all time banger, album maintains a nonstop frenetic pace. It does suffer from the typical acdc problem that everything sounds a bit samey, can feel a bit one note at times but it sure is one hell of a note.
Fun album, opens up with a classic. Background of the album is more interesting than the music itself
Simpel, en veel van hetzelfde, maar dat is in dit geval niet erg! Heel lekker.
There is a definite accuracy to the complaint that all AC/DC songs sound the same. But this was still a great listen, and super fun. If an album is just a great song rehashed 10 times, it’s still made up of 10 great songs…. Best tracks: Highway to Hell, Walk All Over You, Touch Too Much Worst track: Love Hungry Man
Hard rock's finest, I remember listening to this while on a road trip, good times.
It's AC/DC, what's not to love? Their sound is a little formulaic in that every song is pretty similar, but I like it.
While I think this album pushes the intro verse chorus verse chorus solo chorus pattern to its absolute limit, it is undeniably fun. The first chords and drum beat of the title track are like candy. A lot of cringey lyrics but I had a good time.
HL: title track, "Touch Too Much", "Shot Down in Flames", "Love Hungry Man", "Night Prowler" After more challenging rock albums by Sebadoh & Lightning Bolt, AC/DC is just like a big bowl of chili (surprisingly, 1st time I've heard the entire album). February 13, 2023
Not my cup of tea but undoubtedly good
Felt more influential than enjoyable, but also like it would reward a repeat listen.
Gas op die lollie! 🤘 En ik moet zeggen dat de zang van Bon Scott echt wel een stuk beter is dan die van zijn opvolger.
fino
Great album
i have 2 copies on vinyl for a reason
Solid!
Classic rock really needs to bring interrest with the vocals before I like it. Where Black Sabbath and ZZTop failed, AC/DC rises in glory. Highway to Hell rocks hard.
Great Scott era album
This still holds up all this time later. Not as good as Back in Black though
Lean, mean, tough as nails and a lot of fun. Best Bon Scott-era AC/DC album. Fave Songs: Girls Got Rhythm, Highway to Hell, Shot Down in Flames, Night Prowler, Walk All Over You, Get It Hot
AC/DC is so unapologetic about their sheer kickassery. They do their thing and double birds to anyone who doesn't like it. As an aesthetic, I'm here for it. "Highway to Hell" is as unrelenting as an oncoming train. From the moment the needle drops to the closing chord, it just pushes forward and never stops. It would be exhausting if it wasn't also so good. I mean, come on. It's AC/DC. You know what you're getting into. And, if that's your jam, "Highway to Hell" delivers on all counts.
Nothing to say really, its a basic but amazing rock album
Not my usual thing but a fun album
Solid arena rock. Obv. One of the best the genre has to offer. No Appetite for Destruction though
I’m always down for a little AC/DC, plain old rock of a similar vintage to myself. This comes with my usual reservations about most heavy rock - the sound can get repetitive and the lyrics a little meathead. This band at least benefits by not taking itself too seriously and staying out of portentous, “wait here’s our hot take on the state of the world” territory (looking at you later Metallica). This is about as well as this style gets done. RIP Bon Scott.
He hit the sack
Angus Young once said 'I get so made when critics say we have made 14 albums that sound exactly the same. We've actually made 16 albums that sound exactly the same.' I've got lots of AC/DC on my running play list. Very fun. Solid 4
Songs to play in between periods at a youth hockey game
CLASSIC AC/DC ALBUM 🤘
Just classic hype album - great to clean to
Охуенно под это ехать в забитом автобусе на пару в 10 утра с еще даже не начатым дипломом На самом деле наес, но как-то очень однообразно
I Like ACDC, but it was a little much to listen to first thing in the morning
Such an iconic start to an album--lets see where it goes--like how much do I know? Obviously I know AC/DC. There are moments when it sounds like riot grrl to me--I guess that's kind of a backwards way to look at it. I ended up not recognizing a lot of it, but I did enjoy the album.
No need to go into the Bon Scott/Brian Johnson debate as this should be considered on its own. I admire AC/DC. They are who they are and never strayed too far from their formula. This is the first of their work that put it all together. Better material and cleaner production (courtesy of Mutt Lang) were responsible. They might not have been an arena band yet, but this sounded huge, as if it was only a matter of time. There is a precision to the production and good songwriting (genre adjusted) throughout. Highway to Hell is an all-time great.
Rowdy rock and roll for teenage boys. Songs are simple but fun and Highway to Hell is an all time classic
For 1979, it's pretty good.
Never listened to an AC/DC album but it's fun stuff - 4 stars
not as good as back in black but still a pretty solid album
Very good album, no low points, was interesting throughout, definitely listen again
A great album, lots of fun and attitude. Not the best AC/DC ever produced but a banger none the less
Classic rock n roll
Is there a more critically acclaimed band that has never changed their sound than AC/DC? Not that there is anything bad with having a sound that works and not changing it, this album is good, but really is carried by its title track. I would rank back in black head and shoulders above this album.
Classic, not as heavy as I might have expected, but absolutely great
Its strength is in its simplicity. Big riffs and big singalongs.
Bon, long gone. "Highway to Hell," holding up well.
A classic
Pretty good album but I'm not into ACDC as much as I once was
I confess I am a beginner drummer and like AC/DC for their easy beats. This album didn't challenge on that front, but it had stronger instrumentation and variety than I was expecting. Some of the tracks like "Beating Around the Bush" were more up-tempo and "Night Prowler" was a rare slowed-down adventure for them. Overall, it's pretty canonical for the band, a breakthrough in terms of getting them into the mainstream.
Pretty Iconic, still hear a lot of this on the radio.
Favorittbandet mitt fra 2003 jo
my goodness. no denying the catchiness of ac/dc's songs! that opening guitar riff to "highway to hell" is unmistakable and can bring a dead man back to life. ac/dc, in their last album with bon scott, is at the top of their game here. every song is so solid. the non-singles go just as hard as their hits. there, uh, is a certain topic that all songs here revolve around, to say it delicately. easy to figure out what was on their mind, just like all of the eighties bands who followed in ac/dc's footsteps. but the truth is despite the consistent subject matter, every song is a banger. i don't know how they made it work so well! scott's grizzly voice and the fact that each guitar, drums, bass are relentless, and mutt lange's producing, of course.
4.5 Classic
Buen disco, pero me lo esperaba mejor la verdad
The title song is a classic of hard rock, and the rest of the album keeps the tone with no surprises or much deviance from the formula. I got a little weary by the end, but I thought it was overall very good at what it was doing.
I don't believe that I have ever listened to this album, and it sounded like i expected. It was fine, but a bit one-note to me. I suppose that if I am looking for some old school hard rock that this could be a go-to.
Rocked my socks off for the first half or so. Got a bit repetitive but still a good time for the most part.
The album is a little bit repetitive but has powerful music. I think that rock n' roll was never the same after AC/DC, which is a mark in musical history.
Highway to hell baby
Hell yeah AC/DC! Rock on! Nothing else needs to be said.
I'm not the demographic of dusty dad rock and rock-'n'-roll but this one had enough pizzazz to keep me interested.
Loved this. I had the Back in Black cassette in my car at all times but never strayed to some of the older stuff beyond the title track.
I enjoyed this. It was a bit samey, but a lot of fun.
I wanted blood. I got it.
Famously one-note band but this is their best even if it does get samey by the end of it.
Easily my favorite AC/DC album. I know some people don’t like how crisp Mutt Lange’s production sounded compared to their earlier releases, but I think that this shows off how talented the band is, and brings their sound to life. This is still the same band from before, but a little more mature. I wish we could have seen what they would have been like if Bon stayed alive. It’s funny though, as overplayed as the title track is, the rest of the album barely exists on classic rock radio. There are some choice cuts that deserve more spins, though. B+
Good grooves, 4 great tracks (title, Touch Too Much, Shot Down in Flames, If You Want Blood) but the rest is just solid. 4 Stars, but still gotta love the Bon Scott era of the band.
A fine example of "butt rock". RIP Bon Scott.
idk kinda slaps 😔
Great classic album. A joy to listen too again
Fun!
I’ve never been a huge classic rock fan but I really enjoyed this. The tone was perfect for what I was doing (traveling/working/running errands). The guitar is absolutely insane.
Highway to hell is an all-timer but the rest of the album is a standard AC/DC album: Ultra listenable, 70s rock
First time properly listening to ACDC but really enjoyed it.
This album hit the spot for me today. Maybe, I just needed a straight-forward rocker with most songs headed in one direction (don't go there). "Highway to Hell" is AC/DC's sixth and final album with lead singer Bon Scott. Evidently producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange had a major impact, influencing Bon Scott's vocals and Angus Young's guitar riffs. This a great album highlighted by Bon Scott's scratchy, screaming, raw vocals, the guitar interactions of the Young brothers and a rock solid rhythm section. The songs tend to fall in the sex, lust and partying categories. Imagine that. Scott said he wanted to loosen up the lyrics since he thought the previous album "Powerage" ones were too serious. "Highway to Hell" starts things off with an absolute classic guitar intro leading into Bon Scott's vocals. The meaning of the song is either being on the road touring for a lkng time or a horrible desert stretch of highway in Australia. Both work for me. "Girls Got Rhythm" might be my favorite song on the album with absolute killer rhythm guitar. "Walk Over You" is the most rockin song on the album and is some of the hardest music I've heard from this band. "Night Prowler" ends the album with a slower, dark song about a guy sneaking into his girlfriend's room. The song became famous or infamous for serial killer Richard Rodriguez's liking it. I had "Back in Black" a few months ago and I can't tell you which album I like better. Both have great high points and rock throughout, so....flip a coin and play one.
Rocking. Many familiar songs. Crank it up.
Solid rock album, with an incredible opening track
Classic album, amazing classic rock
AC/DC. Every album of theirs, to me, sounds like the previous album. It's an amazing thing. A friend of mine took me to one of their shows. Concerts you can clearly divide up into shows where you get drunk and shows where you get high. At least in shows where you get high, you kind of stay within your own personal bubble. Drunks kept bumping in to me. Swear to god, I was ready to throw one off the top level. During the show, they had the cameras focused on women basically egging them on to take their tops off. Which some of them did. It was very surreal. Anyway, anytime I listen to their stuff I cannot feel a progression, one album to the next. The only difference is going from Bon Scott to Brian Johnson. That's a big leap to Back In Black. But this is about Highway To Hell. Each of the songs here has that sloppiness, vocal-wise. Like the guy is half-drunk. That was the beauty of Scott. He sounded like that all the time, but he was always on. Even though the albums are same-y, the songs vary to some extent. They're not all exactly the same. And there are a few deep cuts I recognize, like "Night Prowler," which I have always liked. So I don't say I hate them, but I get bored easily by them is my point. One album, like this one is good. Good enough.
I feel like every AC/DC song I like (quite a few) is not overly complex but still rocks. Gotta give some credit to simple, smart arrangements. But can't be a 5 unless every song is a classic. Not this album. A few songs are great fun - Highway to Hell (still weird it's timing before Scott's death), Girls Got Rhythm, If You Want Blood. The rest are are pretty good (last song a bit meh). The start of Beating Around the Bush shows they do have some musical chops (at least Angus on guitar). If you like rock, you'll like it if not love it. But if you don't, I can understand if you wonder what the appeal is.
Great rock album. Chalk full of classics.
4/5
A retravailler

Their best album. It's tough to listen to in one sitting. You can't hear the same song repeatedly for too long, even with Bon Scott singing.
4/19/22 Very classic rock! Enjoyed the album a lot as a whole. No one song stood out to me as something I would want to add to my music specifically but I enjoyed the album and genuinely liked every song. Great guitar of course! Overall very enjoyable. I’m glad I finally listened to a full AC/DC album! Favorite song: Highway to Hell
Great rock and friggin roll album
Classic metal
I'm a big fan of this band and this album. Such fun rock music, to put it succinctly and ineloquently. Crank it up and rock it out! Dang, I love the Young brothers. Speaking of the Young brothers, interesting trivia that this album's appearance in my rotation made me remember to share here: in Dire Straits' 'Sultans Of Swing', the “Guitar George” and “Harry” who are mentioned in the lyrics are George Young and Harry Vanda, who were guitarists in the band The Easybeats. George Young is Malcolm and Angus Young's older brother, and Harry and George helped get AC/DC recorded.
I get why this is a classic now
I'm not a fan of classic rock, but I definitely like AC/DC more than most classic rock bands. This album was fun all the way through. Not crazy about the last song, but other than that, great album. Made me tap my feet and put me in a good mood, what more can you ask for?
4/5. Ac/cd be ac/dc 😎🤘⚡️⚡️🔋🔋
it rocks
Classic rock. Good album. Highway to Hell and Touch Too Much are favourites. Prefer Back In Black though.
The bad boys from down under take off with this album. There are some gems here. The title track is an SCC (Stone Cold Classic), Girls Got Rhythm and Touch too Much evoke the dirty AC/DC vibes wholeheartedly. AC/DC were nearing their peak writing around this album, depending on your point of view you might say this was the peak.
Badass music to clean the kids' room to.
YES! Bon Scott last record with AC/DC, this is their magnum opus in my opinion. All of the fucking Bangerz are on this Jawn. Kind of the archetype for 80s hard rock, don’t know if that’s a bad thing or a good thing.
Hell yeah. I've listened to this many times before. I mean what do you expect? It's AC/DC. You know what you'll be getting. Is this the most intricate music every made? No. Will it rock you? Absolutely. This is just pure rock and roll and doesn't claim to be anything else. 4.5/5
Is good not for the background though
Love it. A classic
AC/DC is one of my favorite bands. I saw them perform at coachella and they NAILED it. I feel lucky to have seen them. <3
Banger
Super fun album
Classic album. Even if you don't like the genre, you'll still have something to like here. Highlight Tracks: 1, 2, 6, 10
I've historically not got on with AC/DC and now this is my second album by them within a week, and you know what? It didn't suck! Maybe it's like acquiring the taste of olives or other pungent flavors, and you need to be exposed on a certain number of unique occasions, I dunno. Anyway, that was a fun enough listen, and I didn't find the vocals too grating. Fave track - "Highway to Hell", by a mile. Which reinforces my olive theory, as it's been featured in so many soundtracks...
Crunchy classic screamy rock and roll. Read that Angus regretted Get it Hot, and I can see why. Fun. Not something I listen to on the reg, but definitely fun.
4.5
Listened Before (in entirety)? N Pros: Nice, peppy, rocking listen. Not too long. This must have been wild to hear in the 70s. It's HEAVY rock (probably not quite metal by today's standards). Highlights: Girl's got Rythmn, Beating around the Bush has a GREAT main riff. Night Prowler was a great surprise! Guitars were spot-on (I'm a sucker for blues licks), Bonn's voice doesn't really lend itself to blues, but the riffs and solos more than make up for it. It's easy to see why AC/DC are considered an influence by so many later bands. This was a good intro to their pre-Brian Johnson days. Cons: It's a shame that I started this album by skipping track 1. Highway to Hell is probably one of the greatest hard rock songs of all time.... unless you listen to hard rock or classic rock radio. It's so overplayed in my world that I could go without ever hearing it again. As expected, the lyrics of the album are overtly sexual. It's fine, just not what I choose usually. Added to Library (Y/N/partial)? P Added: Girl's Got Rhythm, Beating Around the Bush, Night Prowler
AC/DC may be a 3 chord band but they know how to make the blood rush and necks sore. Wall to wall pub rock with classic guitar solos and riffs along with some really great lyrics from Bon Scott (Touch Too Much for example). Admittedly it isn't the most deep, sophisticated or intelligent album by a mile, but it's honest good fun to rock out with. Highway to Hell is a classic Aussie album and the majority of songs on it are great (not so much Get It Hot or Love Hungry Man).
I've known this album since it came out. Classic. Not their best, but so good. 4/5.
Like most AC/DC albums you’ve got 50% filler and 50% absolute masterpiece of rock history. Highway to Hell is probably their signature song but there are more iconic albums. Fave tracks: “Highway to Hell” “If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It)” “Girls Got Rhythm”
Pretty fantastic, just not as fantastic as Back in Black.
This is a classic rock album
I really love this album: it's a blast of energy that really reminds me of my adolescence - interestingly enough, back then I thought that I was going to remember Blink-182 and Green Day as the soundtrack of my adolescence, and now I think of AC/DC and Led Zeppelin. This unconstrained energy and impact that AC/DC can channel through this record, as well as the very explicit sex theme, are really enjoyable and a ton of fun. But, because there was going to be a "but", the problem with this album is that it gets a bit repetitive. Still, there are many great tracks such as "Touch too much" and "Night prowler" that are worth checking out.
Very AC/DC. Not too compelling but still enjoyable.
Most of the songs sound basically the same

Lots of songs about wanting to have sex with women. Good flow throughout. Classic rock.
Great tunes 4.4
Good album. Hadn’t heard most of these songs before.
YEAH! TURN IT UP FUCKIN' LOUD! I murdered a toddler listening to this.
Thought I’d know a few more on it, but only a couple. very driven album, would probably grow on me with more listens. Highly expected to whale after Scott’s death, the band have gone on well.
Fantastic classic hard rock with all the usual fixins. Powerful guitar riffs, high energy vocals, and banging drums abound. If you know one AC/DC song, it's "Highway to Hell", and for very good reason. My primary complaint with the album is that it runs just a little bit too long and the songs start to all sound the same. It's a minor criticism and if I could give it four and a half stars, I would.
Not my cup of tea, but great nonetheless!
Solid.
Classic. Good, solid rock.
Solid, the hits are hits and the album tracks are similar but less memorable.
I don't know what rating to give here because I only listened to highway to hell and then the next song was too sleazy. So I'm treating it as a single
Enjoyable. Dumb, but enjoyable.
Classic Rock. Energetic
Obrigado por colocar rock na cabeça.
Another solid one.
Great finale for Bon Scott
This album's energy is high AF and fun. If "You Want Blood" is super underrated. 8/10.
Great stuff
Big choons
Ok I'm not a fan, but the first two songs are great! The next song is great too, but at 5:10 way too long. These boys should know any song longer than 3:30 is just too long. But I'm going to have to concede 4 stars to these hard-drinking, hard-rocking nut boys. What saves it for me is the guitar histrionics rarely descend to wankery and the riffs are impressively HARD and accessible. Closer to sex pistols than to Van Halen... I had no idea. 4 🌟
Rating: 8/10 Best songs: Highway to hell, Walk over you, Touch too much
Amazing, power rock. Catchy, great vocals.
I’ve cooled a bit on AC/DC over the years but this album rocks. Power vocals, timeless lyrics and killer instrumentation. This was one of the first albums I owned and it’s held up well.
Trevlig skrevrock.
Great album, classic solid rock
Not as good as earlier Bon Scott albums but still wildly fun
4.5
slaps but they guy on the cover looks scary. he also looks like harry styles kinda
nice
Expected a rocker. Got a rocker
Of course, Highway to Hell is the final album AC/DC recorded with Bon Scott, the lead singer who provided the group with a fair share of its signature sleaze... AC/DC has never sounded so enormous, and they've never had such great songs, and they had never delivered an album as singularly bone-crunching or classic as this until now.
Good classic rock!
Great album…. Loved this one!!
Like the Foo Fighters but old.
Some classic tracks - brilliant album but as is always the way with AC/DC and me - I find it a little repetitive and one dimensional which just stops it hitting 5 stars - such a fun album tho ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
With a band like AC/DC, which is really basic rock 'n roll, you can't dun them for not being more sophisticated. That wouldn't be fair. You have to evaluate them on how well they execute their concept. You need riffs which intersect with the vocals in ways that provide forward momentum to the tunes. AC/DC does this very well. Since you're going for basic, you have to make your point and get out--no long tunes, no extended solos. Check. You have to keep the proceedings high energy--check. The production has to be dirty enough to provide grit, but clean enough to put the tunes across--check. And it helps if you come up with choruses that beg to be sung along with. The title cut obviously qualifies. But even on the deeper album cuts, the band never lets up on energy or professionalism. AC/DC may not be breaking any new ground here, but they are very, very good at what they do. (It actually surprised me a bit that this band was famous for partying and substance abuse, considering how precise they are in the studio.)But I would be lying if I neglected to say I was bored halfway through. Okay, the hell with it. I'm going to break my own rule and subtract a point for lack of ambition. If it helps for fans of AC/DC, this is a perfectly performed and recorded album. If I was evaluating it on that basis alone, Highway To Hell would be an easy 5/5.

Classic rock
It's AC/DC. You know what it sounds like. BT: Highway To Hell, Walk All Over You, If You Want Blood (You've Got It)
Classic banger *4
I mean, it's AC/DC. It's hard to complain about this album!
No hubiese empezado por aquí, pero ahí vamos. Mente abierta y a ver donde nos lleva este proyecto. Disco sorprendente y chute de energía
Redefining heavy metal with both style and substance
4/5 It's a great album for what it proposes to do, I really like it. Special attention to the three first tracks (Highway to Hell; Girls Got Rhythm and Walk All Over you) and to the last one (Night Prowler) as well. The middle songs are somewhat forgotten because of the power of the first ones but it doesn't make them bad, just not as attractive I guess. It was a good experience and I'll definitely listen to it again.
+++
Great guitar album, enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Fairly homogeneous but lots of fun. Really rocks.
no problem listening to this one :) wish I had a beer though
I liked it. I obviously recognized a few of the songs, but the ones I didn't know were really good as well.
Classic
AC/DC en su punto. Highway es Highway no y no hay más qué decir. Girl's Got Rhythm mantiene la tónica y Walk All Over You disminuye el tempo para retomarlo al final. Touch y Beating continúan entregando poder y después llega un pequeño bache con Shot Down in Flames y Get It Hot. Songs: Highway To Hell, If You Want Blood, Touch Too Much, Night Prowler.
Solid and fun romp full of bops T to B.
