Great album!

Some bangers

A classic. Great stuff, straight up rock and roll.

I can see why the hits were hits and continue to have a lasting impression on music, but there were a couple of bland tracks, so, it's not quite a perfect album for me. Also, not a huge classic rock fan, but that's not the albums fault

Turn it up loud and don’t overthink it.

Classic AC/DC. Good stuff

what a buncha bogans

AC/DC is a band I have generally tried to avoid. I’ve never enjoyed anything I’ve heard by them enough to deliberately seek out more. But I actually really liked this album. Is the band one note? Extremely. But it’s a pretty fun note at that.

It's AC/DC. I've never been a big fan or anything, but I really can't say anything bad about them. They figured out a formula and made it work with the occasional surprise. Plus, Mutt's contribution punches things up nicely.

Your criticisms are probably warranted, but I sure like their music.

Not a huge AC/DC fan, but I can appreciate some of their songs. This one is a hard rocking album with some classics on it, but the other songs aren't too dissimilar. At the same time, it'd be hard to lump this one in with the other 3s that I've given out, so I'll put this as a low 4 for me.

Solid album. They're not one of my favorite rock bands, but still enjoyed overall.

26/02/25 3.5/5 or 8/10 The first album! AC/DC - Highway To Hell I knew the album but had never listened to it fully. So many of the tracks on here are great classic rock tunes. Would definitely listen again and add to the collection! A good start, and let's see how long this thing takes huh!

I really like the sound of this album, but I found that a lot of the songs sounded the same. Saved three songs

A really good way for Bon Scott to go out. You can tell that this band had been doing this for a while, and that there are two brothers in the band. Everyone’s very in sync, not that this is super complex rock or anything like that. As per usual, AC/DC knows what their hits are worth, and open yet another album with a classic. “Highway to Hell” is so anthemic and indicative of the bands whole brand up to that point. “Touch Too Much” is another memorable rocker for its repeatable chorus. “If You Want Blood” is basically the same sort of song too. Which is a fair criticism levied against the band, for this album and in general. They don’t really stray from the formula at all. Which is a shame because some of their most memorable songs have those artistic liberties (with Bon Scott or Brian Johnson) like the “oy oy oy” chorus on TNT or the canons on For Those About To Rock. This record lulls into scuzzy rock monotony at points, but otherwise is a fantastic, wired-up crescendo to Bon Scott’s career and life. Soft 4/5

The metal greats with the last Bonham album. It was different with him, but the fundamentals remain. Probably not quite the full album of Back to Black but it’s got some punch.

There’s probably not much I can say about this album that hasn’t been said before but this album is brilliantly rich in it's simplicity. AC/DC are by no means making a masterful composition with HTH but it’s lucidity is its greatest aspect; laden with guitar solos, Bon Scott’s screeching voice and simple and effective guitar riffs make it an unpretentious and brilliant album. ‘Girls Got Rhythm’ is groovy, 'Night Prowler' makes sure to take its time, and 'Highway To Hell' is infectiously catchy. The AC/DC formula , riff, rest of band, 2 choruses then a solo, would have you assume that each track is 'samey' but you'll find the variation to make each track sound fresh. 9/10 Great listen. Top tracks -> Highway to Hell -> Girls Got Rhythm -> Night Prowler

This is hard rock at its best. The production is sharp, letting each instrument stand out on its own while still creating a cohesive sound. It has a raw, stripped-down feel that captures pure rock energy and keeps the album sounding fresh and powerful.

I had a grin on my face with this album popping up. Because with AC/DC you always know what you will get. High quality hard rock with an unique sound and energetic guitars. And on this particular album on top the two all-time-classics "Highway To Hell" and "Touch Too Much". 3,5

This is classic AC/DC

I mean, it's AC/DC, a classic! So yeah, it was good. But it's good because of the overall vibe they can get out of there songs. There wasn't any specific really interesting musical parts or anything. IDK if I'd listen the the whole album again but random songs off of once in awhile are always welcome.

rocked

It's AC/DC, you know what you're getting.

Only better live.

Simple, straightforward. A classic of stripped-down guitar-driven rock.

I'm not super into AC/DC but this is a really nice and high energy album.

Highway to Hell is straight-up solid classic rock — no frills, no filler, just riffs and attitude. The title track is iconic for a reason, and Bon Scott’s vocals hit that perfect mix of grit and swagger. The whole album is loud, punchy, and built for blasting with the windows down. It’s not as polished as Back in Black, but that’s kind of the point. This is raw, barroom rock at its best. AC/DC knew exactly what lane they were in, and they floored it. Favorite song: If You Want Blood (You Got It)

Enjoyed this album. Didn’t finish it because I wasn’t feeling the vibe for the day. But I know on another day I would enjoy it 20x more.

A good album I liked Highway to Hell, Walk All Over You and Shot Down In Flames the most.

I will admit a bit of bias, as I love AC/DC to death. I fully appreciate that 90% of their songs sound exactly the same to most people. That said, this album is pretty good, but not their best. The title track is a genuine classic, there's a couple of other bangers, the rest are just ok. It was the last album with their original lead singer, so it gets a bit of a bump for that.

Great album!

Iconic

Ah the memories!

- Highway TO HELL, My Favourite AC/DC Song

This was alright, decent tempo and some good sounds. Songs all pretty similar but if they’re good does that matter?

Really straight forward rock. Very listenable, very likeable. A simple and obvious 4 stars.

82% Best: Highway to Hell; Shot Down in Flames; If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It); Love Hungry Man Must-Hear? Sure

Honestly, better than I expected

Another personal classic, which has been on my plate from early pre-teens and never left. Most of the Bon Scott era, plus Back In Black, is what I've always prefered to listen from Acca Dacca, nothing's changed. This is a really good rock 'n roll album, not their best but close enough.

A classic, really, but still an amazing album. I dont have anything else to say really

Classic hard rock album that you can't really go wrong with. Only thing stopping me from giving it a 5 is a few of the songs towards the back end that I didn't enjoy for whatever reason. Maybe they just weren't as good, or I began to get tired of the album A high 4

Absolute banger from top to bottom featuring Bonn Scott in one of his last albums before he died

Banger but can't do the voice for too long...

A classic.

Some of the best hard rock in history, but also some pretty forgettable by-the-numbers stuff too. Overall though fun, catchy album. Contentious perhaps, but overall I personally prefer the albums Blow Up Your Video and The Razor’s Edge, as they were the ones I first heard back when I was a teenager in the late 80s / early 90s.

Not their best album by any means but still good enough for 4 stars or B.

As always, I like loud, dumb, riffy rock albums like this. But something tells me AC/DC has something even better than this up their sleeve....

very one-note but it's a pretty good note

One of the greats of classic rock and roll. The songs are great and kicksss but they aren’t necessarily their best. It’s impossible to not know what song you are listening to because they love to repeat the title over and over again. Back in black is their best album over even though I feel like bon Scott was a better front man.

About as straightforward as it gets. The same song over and over again, but that song is very very good.

They have a sound but it’s a GOOD sound. Killer riffs, great hard rock vocals, and just fun bar rock

выскажу две очевидных мысли: 1) первый вокалист намного лучше, он хотя бы визжит не сильно жеско 2) песни хорошие у ац.дц, но блять даже в 2020 году альбом звучит точно так же )

C’mon, it’s a classic. Ya all AC/DC sounds the same. That’s the glory of it isn’t it?

fua són 12 highway to hells again, per conduir, sempre cau rock més dur molt guai!

4 stars

You can't spell "heavy metal head bangers" with AC/DC!

Timeless

The last album before Scott's death. After that, AC/DC took a plunge. There's some really good songs on this album. The final track is very underrated. I also liked the title track as well. 4 stars for "Highway to Hell".

bangers to be fair

Best recorded guitar sound in rock history. Holy hell!

Probably closest to 3.5 stars but really enjoyable. Super unique sound which is cool even though it demolished the lead singer’s voice

This was great. If I didn't know better I would have thought I was at a keg party circa 1982. Really fun listen

Pure rock and roll babyyyyy

Once you realize that the bugs are actually features, AC/DC clicks.

This is hard rock at its best. The production is sharp, letting each instrument stand out on its own while still creating a cohesive sound. It has a raw, stripped-down feel that captures pure rock energy and keeps the album sounding fresh and powerful.

It’s not as definitive as Back in Black but it still scratches that hard rock - heavy metal itch. It’s weird to me how similar the voices of Bon Scott and Brian Johnson are. It’s also weird to me how the ascendency of AC/DC into the pop culture zeitgeist seemed to be not affected in the least by the death of their front man, last heard on this record.

Favorittbandet mitt fra 2003 jo

Ton of fun. Not much else to say. It's a classic for a reason. 4/5

A lot of songs sound similar but I have a soft spot for AC/DC so

Classic Hard Rock. I like it

Not my favorite album but still AC/DC. My guilty pleasure band LOL

One of the all time greats

1. 10/10 classic for a reason, no notes 2. 5/10 good, repetitive and recognizable riffs throughout 3. 10/10 love this never heard it before 4. 9/10 like it a lot 5. 6/10 little chaotic for me, cool time signature and riffs 6. 5/10 repetitive, didn’t grab my attention 7. 8/10 made me want to play guitar hero real bad 8. 4/10 never a big fan of a bunch of people singing like a chorus on a rock record 9. 4/10 didn’t leave an impression 10. 6/10 I like the slow pace and the lyrics overall really nice album, made me feel like dewey finn from school of rock

Good but not awesome. More like a 3.5

Classic

AC/DC are one of my favorite bands. Especially the Bon era. Bon Scott is one of my favourite singers. I would probably say Let There Be Rock is my favourite AC/DC album but this album still smokes. Great songs and they had their sound and formula down pat by this point. Bon Scott ended on a high note. Rest in Peace.

Rockin'.

7.5/10 My second AC/DC album, and it turns out I quite like them, unexpectedly I can see how they are so huge - big, crowd pleasing hard rock and metal. Big guitars, big bass, dramatic vocals I didn’t concentrate on the lyrics much, but I suspect that’s not the point The stuff that was more bluesy was less up my street Best: Highway to Hell

AC/DC found some kind of chemical reaction that makes every one of their songs feel as if it was injected with a double shot of electricity and rode with it for years. Their song's aren't all that original, but damn they are catchy and great on this record. Highway to Hell, Girl's got Rhythm, and Shot Down in Flames were my favorites.

Only 4 in their catalogue. Back in Black is a 5. Everything else is 3 and below, with choice cuts.

Bon Scott forever <3

Simple rock and roll and they do sound the same in all their songs. But what they do, they do it well and sometimes it’s what you need.

Full of bangers. First time I’ve listened to it front to back. Seeing as it was made in the 70s some of the 4 on the floor parts did give me an impression slightly of the one of the other genres in the decade ‘Disco’. This album make you want to rock out though. Head nodder.

Is AC/DC THE quintessential cock rock? Maybe? Ironically, once Brian Johnson stepped in for Bon Scott, it feels like we started getting less cock, more rock. Though now I wonder if this hadn’t already begun by Highway to Hell, which is mostly great up until it closes with Night Prowler. On its own, the concept of lurking around in the darkness isn’t necessarily bad. Ninjas, Owls, Batman, and the Northrop B-2 Spirit are all generally beloved. These are not the night prowling vibes which AC/DC embraces on this closing track. But maybe the willingness here to fully embrace and explore some of humanities more problematic corners is, in fact, a good thing. Even if it may not appeal to my own personal tastes. I was gonna give this five, then Night Prowler made me think four. Now I’m seeing an opposite argument for it to justify the five. But ultimately, this is just my opinion, and personally, Night Prowler lost me at the end, so four.

Saved Prior: None Off Rip: Girls Got Rhythm, Walk All Over You, Shot Down in Flames, Get It Hot Cutting Edge: None Overall Notes: In a complete reversal of my feelings for Back In Black, don't care particularly for the title track but the secondary hits on this one are all stellar

One of the great frontmen for a band. One of AC/DCs best.

Vocals are amazing. I didn’t get to listen to the highest quality recording but I still enjoyed most of the album.

Full of drive and energy, eternal classic

A hellofa album. The title track is fantastic. AC/DC have an iconic sound that serves them particularly well here. Unpretentious rock.

Very enjoyable. So many good songs.

All the songs sound the same, but that's not 100% a bad thing.

Classic

Always a good time.

This is the pinnacle of rock and roll for me. The songs are brilliantly written and have such an energy, the voice perfectly matches, the guitar sound is raw and angry and the rhythm section drives it forward like a train. This isnt my genre and doesnt have the depth of better work, but god damn its fun

Hard rock. A fun album all the way through, although there are a few songs that kind of blend together. The vocals aren’t bad, but they kinda wear on my ears after 40 minutes. Still though, some excellent songs in here. Would probably give it a 4.5 if I could.

Biased because AC/DC is one of my favorite bands.

Surprisingly decent album, 1st listen for me

Can’t go wrong here

4 - just not as iconic as some of their other stuff

01) Highway to Hell - 10,0 02) Girls Got Rhythm - 8,0 03) Walk All Over You - 8,0 04) Touch Too Much - 9,0 05) Beating Around the Bush - 7,5 06) Shot Down in Flames - 8,0 07) Get It Hot - 7,0 08) If You Want Blood (You've Got It) - 7,5 09) Love Hungry Man - 8,0 10) Night Prowler - 8,5 TOTAL: 8,15 (82/100) Current ranking: 96/311

I think the reviews are pretty overblown. AC/DC has songs that all sound the same as much as any other band that fits solidly within a genre. Sure, they aren't Led Zeppelin, but what they do is incredibly solid and driving. Great album.

Good album

Well, this isn't my favorite ACDC album, since that's Back in Black, but this album still fucking kicks ass. ACDC has such a distinctive sound, and I've never really thought about it before. Incredibly heavy for the time period (or any time period), very cleanly produced, great vocals, lyrics that are as young, dumb, and full of cum as they were when they were first penned 4/5

Very solid album but gets old fast due to most songs sounding similar. Love the guitar but the voice doesn't do much for me. Ends on a high note with really strong songs, overall was very enjoyable. Favorite songs were: 2. Girls Got Rhythm 8. If You Want Blood (You've Got It) 10. Night Prowler 8/10

Gutes Hard Rock Album mit dem namensgebenden Klassiker “Highway to hell”. Es stechen keine weiteren Titel besonders hervor … allen ist gemeinsam 🤘🏽 Heavy recall.

Basic hard rock. So simple most novice teen bands can cover them. About as meat and potatoes as you can get. Part of every classic rock playlist.

Very nice last Bon Scott album. The great thing is AC DC sound only like themselves and nobody else really sounds like them.

Good, solid, consistent, driving rock. But the funniest thing is Brian Young trying to recreate the album cover's sneer now; he just looks like an old guy who's suffering from hemmerhoid pain.

Great classic to start off this trend, and I enjoyed some songs I never heard before.

A masterclass in rhythm rock guitar riffs and just mid to uptempo rock in general.

Good album, music I like, doesn't always flow terrifically well but all songs are something I would listen to again. Each song is similar enough to be in the same album but a different song in its own right.

I live in Australia now and come from the UK. In Oz they bang on about Bon Scott being the be all and end all when it comes to AC/DC. I grew up only knowing Brain Johnson and they both have there good and bad points. Anyway AC/DC are a band who stay in their lane and they do not deviate, they are dad rock at its finest. Not a bad I go out to buy or listen to but if its on it will get a head nod from me. Stand out tracks: - Highway to hell - Girls got rhythm - Walk all over you - Night Prowler

I mean, not much to say except that AC/DC rocks. Hard. I tend to find that some of their songs can sound a bit the same, but I thought this album actually did a great showcase of their different rock licks and musicianship. Would definitely rock out to this again. *There may be potential bias because I did listen to this album as Florida State was being booty blasted by Boston College - Go Canes*

Iconic opening riff. Lot of good riffs and melodies dispersed throughout.

Really enjoyed this album. I hate when albums start with the best song and then it’s all downhill from there, but I really did appreciate the rest of what this one had to offer. In terms of the “sound” this is one of the albums that had captured it extremely well. Every song was familiar because the band has a unique sound. To me that benefited it throughout. At times I thought of giving this one a 5, but I think a high 4 is fair.

Very fun and energetic. Probably won't revist but I liked this record's vibe. I really love the guitars in this. No real stand out songs except the title track, but is pretty cohesive. 3.5/4

Not a bad album, I enjoyed it but it wasn’t perfect.

total classic, the deep cuts are great on this one (as with most ac/dc releases), and ofcourse the hits are undeniable.

Fun butt rock. The other tracks are just as good as the more commercially popular title song. My favorite was the Night Prowler

This rips. Beating Around the Bush is about as good a distillation of pure rock as you can find. Album cover: B

AC/DC sure do have a consistent sound. I like that sound, and when it first comes on I'm nodding my head and tapping my feet. After thirty minutes I'm thinking 'wow this is still going?'. They are iconic, and this album is legendary, but it really does all sound the same. This music is at its best when exactly one song comes on the local classic rock station as you're driving down the highway. You bang your head, tap the steering wheel, and drive a little faster. When that same song comes on the same station three days later, you'll do it again. 7/10. I like it a lot, but only 5-10 minutes at a time.

Pretty sure I destroyed a pair of Jensen speakers with this cassette.

Rock and Roll. No tricks.

Nice, but not their best.

Quite enjoyed. Solid album with some classics. Reminds me of cocoricos too much 7/10

There is something about these Australian hard rockers that I just like. I know the songs are pretty similar. Amazed at how much Johnson sounds like Scott did before his passing. I like a guitarist who wears shorts while playing.

I enjoyed it more than I expected it. I went in with this will probably be a 3 but the consistency and execution were very good regarding the style of play. I probably will listen to it again

AC/DC will never not get a positive rating from me. They classic rock at its finest. Bon Scott's voice was a one-of-a-kind, too and gave the band such a cool sound. The title track is obviously one of AC/DC's greatest songs but the rest of the album has that classic, guitar-driven AC/DC sound

Classic hard rock always has a place.

Excellent for driving

Classic rock.

It can get repetitive but this was a fun album. Second half is a bit meh though.

Sentita una le hai sentite tutte ma carino. Molto più gradevole di Back in Black

Quite good but the songs sound very similar to each other. They almost all have the same rhythms, so it can be a bit boring but still quite a good album.

Highway to Hell Girls Got Rhythm Walk All Over You Touch Too Much If You Want Blood (You Got It)

2nd in row?

Just a grand ol’ time

A bit much for a while album, but still a lot of fun.

I'm familiar with all the AC/DC singles, but the only songs I knew going into this one were Highway to Hell and Shot Down in Flames. Honestly this could have been the only album they ever released; it's got everything that made AC/DC AC/DC. Night Crawler seemed a bit problematic though.

Just good old-fashioned rock, adrenaline pumping stuff. Does get a bit samey listening to a whole album of it, but it's nigh impossible to stop one's head banging along to the drums.

Surprised I only knew Highway to Hell from this album. It’s full of jams, not sure how they never made the radio or into pop culture.

Wicked, sly, rocking hard. Malcolm was the beating heart of this band, with Bon the dangerously charming front man. The big hits still stand out, but even tracks like "Night Prowler" are always good to hear if they pop up on radio.

Once I saw Mutt Lange produced this, I knew I was in for a treat. What I didn't know was everything about it would remind me of Def Leopard's Pyromania. "Touch Too Much" LITERALLY sounded like Def Leppard. Was surprised by how relatively dry everything sounded, especially the drums. The song sequence reminded me of Mammoth WVH. All of the songs are great, but as an album, I wish there was a little more variety instead of just one banger after another. That being said, they are ALL BANGERS, the album is short and sweet, and the closer "Night Prowler" mixed it up enough that I felt more than satisfied by the end.

This album rocks. I expected it to feel corny or boring, but it didn’t. It’s a ton of fun. It’s straight ahead sex drugs and rock and roll music. It reminds me of Boston at times and punk rock at other times. It rocks. 3.6

Excellent classic hard rock. Love the Bon Scott version of AC/DC. Brian Johnson's screeching tends to annoy.

Vraiment bien, mais il manque des pistes vraiment iconiques.

Really good album. AC/DC is the first band I think of when I think of classic rock. Bon Scott’s voice makes me want to stick my tongue out and just fuckin’ rock.

Really enjoyed this throughout, my favorite is obviously the title song but I was actually impressed the other songs held up.

Solid album, no skips but its nothing extraordinarily outstanding. All great songs and it has a very relentless feel like you would expect from AC/DC. I love especially how Highway to Hell and Walk All Over You set the rebellious tone for the rest of the album.

Classic rock with the same song playing again and again. Meaning of cool.

Same-y but good!

Loved it!!!!!!!

Am absolute classic rock album. Set an era on its tracks that rolled down the rails with power and influence.

Highway to Hell Touch Too Much If You Want Blood

Classic!

Back to Back AC/DC albums kinda makes you have to pick a favorite.....this one came in second.

Classic AC⚡️DC

Great rock album

Sentita una le hai sentite tutte ma carino. Molto più gradevole di Back in Black

Highlights: Highway to Hell, Girls Got Rhythm Leave Em's: Get It Hot Overall Thoughts: Without having the benefit of hearing the rest of AC/DC's discography, I feel that this album finds a sweet spot for the rock band. You can tell that they are very confident in the product after several years and albums, but it is not quite as polished yet as some of their hits from later years. The album is top heavy with most of the songs that I enjoyed most at the top of the track list but there were really no unenjoyable songs. It is refreshing to hear AC/DC music that isn't their mainstream hits that have been overplayed for nearly fifty years now. Score Breakdown: 3.790 & 5 -> 4.395

i'm on a highway nur das eine Lied hat schon so manche Party in Schwung gebracht

A never aging classic

god i love the 70s

It’s was better than I expected , I saved the album for future listening.

Good AC/DC album. If you like AC/DC, you'll like it.

I was pleasantly surprised by this album. I'm sure I've heard a lot of the tracks before, but they'd never stood out, and while this isn't a genre I really love, I think of this as a surprisingly strong exemplar. + Very tight arrangements, without _too_ much guitar wankery + Every time I listened to this, I caught myself tapping my toes or bobbing my head along + More bluesy than I had remembered from the band, particular Night Prowler - Not a lot of variety; most of the songs sound pretty similar to each other, though there's enough solid production to find things to enjoy even if they don't sound _that_ different - A little goes a long way, and I can't imagine listening to this on repeat I'd call this a 3.5, but I was expecting less so will round up. Would listen again, though probably only in certain moods.

Good constant rock, maybe slightly one nited

It’s a classic. Classic rock isn’t 100% my thing though.

pretty good.

If you think every AC/DC song sounds the same, you’re not actively listening to AC/DC. Sure, there’s a blues-based branding to their vision for hard rock. Though potentially adolescent, Highway to Hell shows sonic diversity and a real knack for a chorus. You can’t tell me that the title track and “Touch Too Much” sound the same or that those hooks aren’t independently recognizable. Especially on its back half, with songs like “Love Hungry Man” and “Night Prowler,” there is room for a different presentation. On top of this, the playing is so cool; AC/DC isn’t a “flash” band, but a “flourish” band, and you can hear those flourishes all throughout this record. And look, I would never say that AC/DC are a flawless band. Sometimes they get too bluesy for me, like “Beating Around the Bush,” or even speed past the song before it can have time to breathe, like “Get It Hot.” But I would almost always defend AC/DC. I could see an argument that they are a singles band (because a Greatest Hits puts their talents right at the forefront), but I’d be damned if you tried to argue that almost every AC/DC album from High Voltage through For Those About to Rock isn’t a solid, true blue, 8/10 across the board, at the very least. And maybe that’s because I support whatever AC/DC is selling, and I stand by their whole vibe, but these are just great hard rock albums. Especially with Bon Scott, whose charisma carries his performance, and is only enhanced by the impeccable recording on this particular album Just because it’s a cheeseburger doesn’t mean that every cheeseburger isn’t unique, y’know? And Highway to Hell is a damn good cheeseburger, motherfucker!

High energy Aussie rock. Well made album, makes me want to jump up and down in a mosh pit.

Very old school loved it, rocky loud mentally nice

Always a good listen.

Look. It's ACDC. We all know what this will sound like.

Fun album, not sure we need 2+ AC/DC albums on the list, but it was enjoyable.

The best AC/DC album of the Bon Scott era for sure.

First time listening to a full album. Rather enjoyed it.

This album is only worth listening to when you're driving a cool car. 4/5 because it's not as bad as some albums and there are worse ones out there.

From the opening riffs of track one, AC/DC were finally impossible to ignore and although tragedy was just around the corner, this is their landmark album. Dodgy lyrics aside ("Night Prowler" is particularly obnoxious), this is excellent stuff: solid rhythms, distinctive lead guitar and histrionic vocals. Nice, clean production, too.

This album is basically the definition of rock. It's great and all the songs work. The only issue is that it is missing something. There's nothing that makes it stand out compared to other rock albums. Even with that, this is an essential album.

It's a classic and it means a lot to me.

Bangers

So many unknown bangers, but they do blend into one

Yes, all AC/DC songs sound the same. But it’s a great sound.

A low 4 just for fun.

Kæmpe album. Det er en af de første møder jeg havde med dem da jeg spillede GTA godt 30 år efter det blev udgivet. 😅 Jeg nød det, og især at det var holdt kort.

It's been said that AC/DC has made one album but released it a dozen times. I tend to agree, but it's ok if that album is good. These albums are straightforward balls to the wall rock and there is certainly room for that in this world. Washing a Camaro to in my driveway while wearing ill fitting denim shorts and a tank top seems like a perfect time to listen to it, but playing it on a Friday afternoon will wrapping up for the week works, too.

Epic album. Being a rock fan I absolutely loved it and would love to have another listen.

Fun fact - Highway to Hell is named after Canning Hwy which is close to where I live. I've driven on it countless times over the years. There's not much to say about this album and band that hasn't been said repeatedly by everyone else. But I can talk about the bogan culture that spawned this music. It's a culture of hard people, hard music, fast V8 cars and alcohol abuse. But it's also about having fun, mateship and tongue in cheek humor. Stemming from the 70's it still exists to this day. So put on your best black t shirt, grab your sheila, fire up the kinga, head down the Raffles and get maggoted carnt.

I just to listen this all the time when I was younger, therefore 4/5!

It is interesting to compare the two "eras" of Acdc. Even though the whole vibe is pretty much the same across the board, the vocals have that distinction between the two.

Chock full of classic bangers but not enough variety to keep me engaged...

This is straightforward rock ‘n’ roll. I wasn’t really looking forward to this album. I mean how many times have I heard that song? But it turns out that I had completely forgotten how raw, powerful and energetic this band is. This is straightforward, 4/4 beats, low-effects guitar and no fancy harmonies; and IT WORKS! Throw in a dash of blues to taste and this album satisfies our Hunger for Rock! OY!

It's awesome and all but we don't need more than one AC/DC album on this list to get the gist. Hell, one song is probably more than enough.

Super catchy songs. 4.0/5.0: Great

I love this record, second only to back in black. So much innuendo i was here for this as a pre-teen. I will say that i believe ac/dc is just a well disguised pop band. they played very familiar and basic keys and cord progressions. You could make an entire axis of awesome song using just ac/dc songs. If you made a band today with billy eilish singing and (insert todays hot producer) playing the same sheet music it would be 100% mainstream pop music. They were basically the Nicki Menaj of the late 70s - mid 80s. (90s ac/dc was a completely different band.)

We salute you, indeed.

I've been to far worse places.

It's not just one song, it's variations on one song.

heck yeah

I can imagine myself being into this in 1979, putting this record on at a party. Soft warm lighting, brown/yellowish/reddish couches, shag carpeting, can’t you just feel that? This is an album that has great energy and is shiny enough for mass audiences. You can tell these guys worked at their craft. They are a tight and precise band. Mutt Lange polished things up even further for mass consumption. No wonder they took off. Add on the later connection to Richard Ramirez, the “Night stalker” and this album has now become immortal.

epic clasic rock

Very good classic hard rock.

Ну это хорошо, это мы знаем, едем дальше

This album rocks, there's not much else to say.

I remember growing up playing Star Wars Battlefront while listening to AC/DC. Album still rocks.

This is our first repeat album and the last one of theirs I ranked quite favorably, so let’s see what we’ve got here. Girls got rhythm - head banging jam Walk all over you - I was liking the song and then the unexpectedly sick guitar solo made me like it even more The second half of the album was pretty monotonous which brought it down for me.

AC/DC reminds me of my friend, Max. He has a tattoo that says “live free or die,” drinks a case of beer a night, and works on old cars in his spare time. He made me laugh a lot, but I don’t see him as much as I used to. Listening to this album today made me happy. Cheers, Maxie!

4 yeah they all sound the same but it’s still good

Just pure, catchy, toe-tapping rock and roll. It’s not exactly complex but who cares? AC/DC has always been primal, below the belt kind of stuff. Malcolm Young’s guitar holds down the riff while Angus is given the freedom to explore the solos. And the drummer NEVER plays a fill, just holds down the beat. The result is a simple, stripped down sound that just gets in your head.

Can all sound a bit repetitive but it still rocks!

Bang your head to iconic rock n' roll

"Highway to Hell" by AC/DC is a quintessential hard rock album that solidified the band's status as rock icons. Released in 1979, it features some of AC/DC's most memorable tracks, including the title track "Highway to Hell," "Girls Got Rhythm," and "Touch Too Much." The album is characterized by its raw energy, driving rhythms, and gritty vocals of lead singer Bon Scott. The production, helmed by Robert John "Mutt" Lange, is tight and powerful, perfectly capturing the band's signature sound. While "Highway to Hell" is often overshadowed by the tragic death of Bon Scott shortly after its release, the album remains a testament to AC/DC's enduring legacy in the world of rock music. It's a must-listen for fans of classic rock and hard-hitting anthems.

Good stuff, but mostly all sounds the same. That's not awful, but it is unfortunate that the main song that stands out ("Night Prowler") is... well, basically what the title sounds like. Yeeeeek.

"Touch too much" is my favourite

Very nostalgic for me because it was one of the albums my dad put on my first iPod.

HELL of a good album. 4/5

Love the bridge in "Walk All Over You". Played "Love Hungry Man" a few times more than I expected.

Basically what I expect from them. Bon era still my favorite. 3.5/5

If someone wants a recommendation for a first AC/DC album to try, this would be a great place to start. Everything that makes the band so special is represented on this album. But candidly HTH has some samey tracks among the greats.

Rick Astley (yes, *that* Rick Astley) says if you want to learn rock 'n roll drums, put on an AC/DC album and play along until you get it right. He's not wrong. This is about as straight-ahead rock and it gets. AC/DC's original singer went out on top. The puerile innuendo, the childish lyrics, and just mindless fun of the anthem rock that AC/DC exemplifies is all on display. Though, unless you're into it, the criticism that hearing one track means you heard them all is more-or-less true. Perhaps the predictability is a comfort? For me it means that, while listening while I work, I don't always notice when one song starts and another ends. Motivation when doing the yard work? Sure. As long as you aren't the type who actually listens to the lyrics. This isn't "high art", but it was never meant to be.

another classic! Strong album, not my favourite ACDC but it holds up!

It's AC/DC, it's exactly what you'd expect from them. Driving blues based rock. Bonn Scott belts out the lyrics as only he could. It's loud It's raw. The title track is obviously the biggest hit off the album, but the rest of it is high energy rock. Classic

Solid AC/DC sound throughout and a fun album. I was surprised there were so few hits on it but it had all their identity.

This is a classic. Agnus Young is a genius with how he comes up with these wonderfully crafted guitar riffs. Its only limitations is how repetitive each song sounds, but I ain't mad at it. Their music was expertly designed to be played on your car stereo as loud as possible, with your windows rolled down. “Night Prowler” is a standout deep cut favorite.

Another solid rock album.

Solid, classic, rock album.

Fantastic riffs. Bon Scott was such a good singer. Fairly one-note standard Rock, but man is it a good note. Standout Songs: Highway to Hell Girls Got Rhythm You Want Blood? Night Prowler

Great hard rock album. Could lose Night Prowler without missing anything. very horny double entendre lyrics throughout which is quaint in a day/age of typically explicit lyrics.

It’s good stuff tbf. Almost dropped it another star because of repetitiveness, but thought that would be harsh. I reckon it helps that I watched School of Rock this week. Simpsons: Yes

Perfect start to an album, straight in there, like a centerback smashing into an opposition forward in the first minute, just to let him know he's there. Great song Walk all overs intro could have been shorter. Really liked shot down in flames and get it hot along with highway to hell There might have been some guitar solos that went on for a little bit too long in some songs. But I suppose that comes with the territory of a rock album. Over all a pleasant listening experience, I will maybe check out some of their other albums aswell

Straight and honest Hardrock.

Musikalisch sehr konstant gehalten - jede Nummer im gleichen Stil. Gutes Album!

AC/DC. I like both the Bon Scott and the Brian Johnson years. Separate chapters and slightly different. Out of all of the Bon Scott albums, Dirty Deeds has got to be the best. Highway to Hell only has one "hit" on it but I think these are all just as good as the title track: Walk All Over You, Beating Around the Bush, Love Hungry Man, Night Prowler

Classic AC/DC. I dig it.

Classic for a reason.

Sure, as with all AC/DC releases it gets a bit repetitive at times, but there’s no doubt that Highway To Hell ranks among the top of their records. The title track is the obvious highlight of the entire first side. It’s Side B that really gets this album moving and makes sure it sticks the landing every time - hard not to when you’re closing on “Night Prowler”.

A lot of this album followed the same formula but if it isn't broke, don't fix it. AC/DC has a great sound mixing their more intense instruments with the Vocals of Scott. Highway To Hell is a great opening song and the rest of the album keeps up the same energy and rock. At 40 minutes the album doesn't drag on and each song is different enough to keep the listener engaged and rocking out.

Great release! Had never heard Touch Too Much.

Not really my kind of music but it’s fun. Better than Back in Black

So glad to listen to this one all the way through!

Didn't listen to this one...because I spent so much time listening to this album growing up. Incredible rock album. Not a stinker in the bunch. One of the last best albums from AC/DC.

Woo hoo RockNRoll I can get behind.

A classic. Have never listened to whole album until now.

Standout: "Highway to Hell," Lyrics/Vocals- 4/5 Instrumentals- 4/5 Vibes- 4/5 This was a fun album, it really made me wish I was having a cookout. Very strong "dad vibes." This album was truly great, I genuinely forgot to get some standout tracks besides "Highway to Hell," which is a great song on its own but as the opener to this album really stands out and becomes far better.

All songs basically the same, but all songs sound great so can't complain!

Oi Oi Oi

A classic.

Starting off miteme klassiker- vlt chli overplayed aber s isch trz es guts lied:) Honestly touch too much isch eif sooo guet! Strong fave. Ich lieb s album cover iwie?? Gives off major cool kids vibes.

also au wenn ich teilwiis mit ac/dc ufgwachse bin, bin ich jz nöd deeee grösst fan, will für mich leider alles chli ähnlich tönt und als drummer tuts eim mengisch chli weh und es git au nur es maximum vo powerchords iwie ABER highway isch indiskutabel 1 bangger und bis jz (bin öppe ide hälfti) hend mich doch die hie und daa ufschimmernde funke vo blues positiv überrascht bis jz hani au walk all over you recht cool gfunde beating around the bush isch für mich jz au vode pace her chli spannender gsi if you want blood ebe schono en banger wnl uuh und night prowler isch jz öppis wo ich mier eig hüfiger wünsche würd aber en nice closing track jaa ich wirds album jz nod ständig lose aber ich glaub me chan guet das album lose und eifach e gueti ziit haa

Album Nr. 26 AC/DC ist einfach Kult. Gutes Album mit wenigen Schwächen.

Pretty classic fun rock album. Good riffs, fun lyrics. 4/5!

Good and consistent, but can only listen to so much.

This was great. Good to hear some AC/DC that isn't the hits.

Always a good pump up

3.8 Like a frosted Canadian beer at Boston Pizza. Sure, there is more sophisticated stuff out there but you know what your getting and its always good.

Good fun rock and roll. What stops me giving 5* is it all sounds a little samey when listening all the way through. But enjoyable

Brian Johnson's last album and it's an absolute banger.

Highway to hell is a great album. Feels like most of the other AC/DC Albums, with a few great songs, some really good songs and some songs that just aren’t as memorable. But they certainly are rocking! And if you are in the mood, it’s hard to beat AC/DC!

Great album and very nostalgic for me. Have recently got on vinyl.

these songs rip

A wonderful mix of all the right nostalgia and banging tunes.

It was fun, cool to hear the rest of the album.

Great album.

A classic

Great classic but after a couple songs, I couldn't really listen to more of it within thinking I was listening to a classic rock radio station.

Downloaded 3 songs to my playlist.

Between 3/4. I'm in a decent mood today. 4. Not as many of the classics as you'd expect.

- fantastic rock, iconic voice - love is a big theme despite the screaming lyrical style

Was nice to listen to some AC/DC. Reminds me of hanging around my dad while he did stuff in the garage.

Bon Scott lived quite a life, RIP.

Epic album, but it feels like listening to the same song for 45 mins. Which is nice if you're into it.

Thoughts before listening: I never really got into AC/DC, but their songs have been mainstays throughout my life heard on the radio, at restaurants, and at sport events. I obviously know the title track to this album, but I don't know what else is on here. Probably a couple more classic hits and lots of songs with catchy riffs and plenty of double entendres in the lyrics. It's AC/DC so I know this will be dumb but a really fun listen. Review: Well the only song I recognize is the title track, but I might as well know them all since this is unmistakably an AC/DC album. Since this is the last album with Bon Scott many people would say this is actually the final real AC/DC album. They would certainly polish their sound to insane radio and MTV success with the next one Back in Black. I really enjoyed listening to this album. My favorite songs were the title track, "Beating Around the Bush", "Shot Down in Flames", and "If You Want Blood". Really though I could have put any of these songs on the playlist. AC/DC have an unmistakable sound and they do it very well on this album. This is 4-stars.

I liked the last song a lot. Also I felt like I was watching School of Rock.

Good vibes, no complaints.

This rocks hard. Very catchy and I can see why AC/DC is as popular as they are.

Lots of high energy, though the second half seems slightly more subdued.

AC/DC is often overlooked by me. I forget how varied their work is.

Unvarnished 4/4 high-energy heavy metal. AC/DC is fairly criticized for not having much variety in their sound but there are a lot of great guitar licks and some clever lyrics. Away from the excellent title track, Girls Got Rhythm, Touch Too Much and If You Want Blood are solid songs. Not usually a big fan of metal bands but these guys are fun and this is close to as good as it gets.

Obviously, I know who AC/DC is. For me personally, night prowler is the strongest track on the album, and it’s not close. Of course, my favorite AC/DC songs are the slower moving ones like this, ride on, rock and roll ain’t noise pollution, the jack, ETC. I didn’t dislike any tracks on the record, but I come away saying to myself, “yep, that’s an AC/DC record alright!”

Still working on my rating system. The hits are bangers and the filler tracks are all decent. No bad songs. I guess that’s a 4. Blistering guitar solos. Metal before there was metal. Pretty cool.

This music rocks, from the opening riff it’s just consistent heavy rock and roll. I don’t often listen to a full AC/DC album, usually fine with the hits, not too many notable ‘deep cuts’ here. I do like more of the heavy bluesy tracks like Night Prowler. This set the stage for so much of the 80s metal genre. It may be Bon Scott’s best performance and a shame he didn’t get to enjoy the huge worldwide success on the back of this work.

AC/DC just gets me hype man

cool album with some cool songs that I didn't knew

The biggest asset of AC/DC is Angus Young’s uncanny ability to create an infinite number of incredibly catchy riffs. A close second is Bon Scott’s rough and eternally energized voice. I love the backing vocals provided by Malcolm and Cliff’s funky bass lines and even Phil’s drums, simple as they are. They get the job done, and do it well. Every one of these band members is playing together perfectly. They aren’t doing anything very experimental or out there and it leaves them room to sync together. When Angus goes off on his solos, they feel cemented in the song and not just like and add on. I love this album and always have and always will. I don’t believe the writing is quite on par with some of their contemporaries and I think they’re really only comfortable on one speed. I’d have liked to see them turn down their pace a little more often like the did on “Ride On” off “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap” and even “Night Prowler” off this project. That added bit of range would have really propelled their image as one of more than just a horny rock band playing fast music. I enjoy Highway to Hell. 4/5

Already a favorite in some ways! I feel like if i'd listen to this when it first came out (y'know, if I were the right age), I would probably have liked this more. It's not that I don't enjoy it, but this feels like the kind of thing I'd have latched onto in my early 20s or late teens instead of at 40.
