Gunfighter Ballads And Trail Songs
Marty RobbinsThis album was just plain boring. Simple guitar strums with stories put to simple melodies. I wish I knew what made this an album that I needed to listen to.
This album was just plain boring. Simple guitar strums with stories put to simple melodies. I wish I knew what made this an album that I needed to listen to.
In a day when alt rock was huge, there’s no wonder this one never became a hit. No good
Love this!
Nope
First song, Human Behaviour was good. Overall, the album is a little too '90's pop for me. Good techno beats that had me bobbing my head and enjoying though. As the album went on, it got old and repetitive. I'll rate this 2-stars. Didn't hate it, but wouldn't choose to listen to it.
Great album and definitely iconic. I’ll rate this 4 stars because I enjoy the album, and would definitely put on from time to time, but not a favorite. Good album construction with amazing opening and closing tracks. Their sound gets a little stale about ⅔ of the way in.
Great album! A lot of fun to listen to and will certainly be putting on to make dinner. I’ve already shared it with a few people. Pleasant surprise. 4 stars
Great album. Good composition. Going between 3-4 stars. Will land on 3 stars because I don’t know that I’ll seek the album out, but would enjoy when it’s on.
Not my thing. A bit to electric jam band for me.
Not my thing. A bit to electric jam band for me.
Easy rating here. 3-star. Good album. I can see why this is a legendary album. But it’s not something I’d seek out.
Did not like this.
Loved this album! Shared with a bunch of people and added songs to playlists. Will seek this out to listen to again.
Great instrumental album to listen to while making dinner or to have on in the background
Good album. Not much my thing but some great individual songs
Was ok but nothing special. Wouldn’t turn off but also wouldn’t look for it.
Didn’t really care for. It’s fine but not for me.
Not a bad album. Some fun songs. Enjoyed listening but won’t seek it out.
Definitely “80’s alternative”. Listened to the entire album and it never spoke to me. A bit to German electric rock for me. Would never put this on myself.
Album was very “meh”. Not bad but nothing special
Another meh album. This sounded a bit like Fiona Apple, but not as good.
This is definitely not my style of music. I could tell it was well put together, but it’s not for me.
Did not like this one. Ended up skipping a number of the songs.
Good album. Not what I’ll seek out though.
Decent, fun album. Had never heard of this band before nor any of the songs. Enjoyed it but not to the point that I’ll seek it out. 3 stars
Great album. The first 3 tracks were all big hits. Will definitely listen to again.
Not a bad album but nothing special. Surprised this counts as an album I have to listen to before I die…
It’s obvious why Dylan is thought of as among the best. Great songs and great album. I just prefer when others perform his songs
Absolutely awful. Why on earth is this an album I have to listen to? Seems like someone is too desperate to seem deep and artsy.
Was a decent album. Won’t seek it out.
I can see why this is so lauded as a great album, but it doesn’t speak to me. But the messages weren’t made for me - a middle-aged white guy from the suburbs. I appreciate the artistry, and really liked some of it, but I won’t be looking to listen again.
I was excited for this album because I like Miles Davis. But this isn’t the Miles I normally listen to. It had no direction. Just seemed like people recording experimentations with no discernment. Ended up disappointing
Another album in this list that I can understand why it’s on here, but just doesn’t speak to me. Some good instrumental pieces and good soul beat. But it didn’t connect.
When Cyndi Lauper came up, I was disappointed and didn’t want to listen. But then when listening to the album, I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed it more than I expected. A number of big hits came from this album.
This album was just plain boring. Simple guitar strums with stories put to simple melodies. I wish I knew what made this an album that I needed to listen to.
I was a bit disappointed by this album. I know the 3 hits on this album and like each of them. So I expected to enjoy the album. But the album was just ok as a complete mix.
Great album - but not my thing.
Pretty good album. I don’t think I’ll seek it out again, but I enjoyed it.
I enjoyed the album but didn’t really think it was anything special.
Not as good as last Kings of Leon album
Great album! Love this Jazz
Great classic rock story-telling album
Really enjoyed this album. Had never listened to it before but her voice really puts soul into the songs.
Some of this was good - but mostly the tracks that sampled other songs. Didn’t show much original creativity
This album felt very much “of a time”. It was fine - but just another album where I don’t understand why this is on a list of albums I should listen to before I die.
I was really excited when I saw it was the roots. I have never listened to an album of theirs before. I didn’t like it as much as I expected to.
Ray Charles never disappoints!
I recognized some of the songs from getting radio play, but aside from that, this album was just ok. Didn’t really connect with me.
I can see why this was foundational for punk rock. I can also see why it didn’t get great reviews right away. Didn’t love listening to it, but definitely hear the Clash in their sound
Great 80’s rock album with some big hits on it.
Absolutely legendary album!
I enjoyed the album. Mostly slower songs. Good mellow mood
Nothing special.
I really enjoyed this album. Something about Willie Nelson that puts me at ease.
Meh. It was fine but I don’t understand French and it’s not like the melodies or musicianship were so spectacular that they made up for it.
There’s a reason that Killing Joke isn’t a household name. This was just noise
This album was fun. Not their best but I enjoyed it.
Did not like this.
I enjoyed this album. Slow and chill but not something I’ll probably look up to play a lot more.
This was decent. I hear influence of a lot of bands I love. But ended up getting bored with it.
Great album by a great band
Tori Amos has a great calm and haunting quality to her voice. I enjoyed this album and will listen to it again.
Nope. Not for me.
Gangster rap definitely not for me
I got excited when I saw something I had never heard before from an artist I know. But this one didn’t hit home. I enjoyed the covers but even those weren’t the beats.
Amazing album, but I knew this one already
Some fun pop rock but not something I’ll seek out
I enjoyed. I’ll be listening to this more and I’m sure I’ll enjoy it more as I listen.
Legendary album for a reason.
This is the kind of album I was hoping to get more of in this list. An album I had never listened to before but it’s a great album
Enjoyable jazz. A little more eclectic than I like, but still enjoyed it.
The music was good. I enjoyed the covers. But I can’t get over the constant drone behind the sitar. It grains on me.
I really enjoyed this album. Sounded like an 80’s version of Dave Matthews
Always loved this album
Foo Fighters are awesome
Terribly boring
Decent short live album
Had never listened to her album before. Really good album. Very powerful and soulful voice.
Enjoyed this album throughout.
I feel like I enjoyed this more because my dad used to listen to Leonard Cohen. If I wasn’t familiar with him, I think I would have been more bored. But I did enjoy.
Never really got into Radiohead and this wasn’t any different. I like the song Karma Police, but the rest was just boring.
Loved it!
This just sounded like noise to me. Was wondering when it would be over.
Title track is good and known. Rest of album was ok
I like the beastie boys but listening to an entire album of theirs is a bit much.
Love Lennon but this album was just ok.
Electronic music doesn’t speak to me
In a day when alt rock was huge, there’s no wonder this one never became a hit. No good
Really enjoyed the beat throughout this album, but I’m not the target audience for the lyrics and what these songs are about so I didn’t connect with it.
I know Elliott Smoth from Good Will Hunting soundtrack and knew 2 of the songs on this album. It is a good album but all the songs have a very similar vibe and sound to them.
Didn’t know what to expect from this but the album was a lot of fun. I want to dig into their catalog now.
Interesting but meh
Still don’t get Radiohead
Didn’t enjoy this sound
Listened to the whole album but wondered why I left it on the whole time by the end. This album was ok but nothing special.
I enjoyed this a lot.
Old school country is not my thing. Gave it a listen but no need to listen again.
Eh, the album was fine but nothing special
Great album!
Really enjoyed the jazz on this album
This album reminded me a bit of post-Beatles Lennon, but not quite as good. Still enjoyed though.
My brother in law game me this album back when it came out. I thought it was ok but never really cared about it. Listening now with intent was very enjoyable.
Another album where I knew a hit song but never listened to the album before. Great classic rock sound. I’ll listen to this again.
What a voice! Great to listen to
I didn’t really hear anything special in this.
Album was fine but gets a bit old after a while
I enjoyed this album, though didn’t find it as amazing as all the reviews.
I had never heard this album before but enjoyed it.
Good production value on this record but the music didn’t hit me.
I like Belle and Sebastian but had never listened to an entire album before. They’re better in a playlist because the sound gets to be the same after a while.
Awful and whiny
Great album all around by a legendary artist
This is my genre and expected to enjoy this more. It was ok, but not something I’d seek out.
Didn’t like this. Even tried having it on as background music and couldn’t take it.
Didn’t really care for this on the whole.
Can’t believe I had never listened to this entire album before. Really loved it.
This one made me think of my mom the whole time. Never heard it before but it’s exactly what she likes. I enjoyed it. Beautiful voice and nice harmonies.
Really enjoyed. Great funk sound and can move to the rhythm the whole time.
I had this album as a teenager. Always thought it was just ok. After relistening, I still think that. Some good sounds and great production though.
I know and like the second track. The rest of the album was ok.
One if the best selling albums of all time for a reason.
This was a fun album. I love the sound of big band in with rock or pop and that was well mixed in here.
Normally Neil young’s voice grains on me, but this album was great. Really enjoyed it.
I enjoy Nick Drakes mellow and calm sounds.
Better than I expected, but didn’t speak to me.
Was a really good album with different sounds.
One of my favorite albums of all time
Meh. I like Aimee Manns voice a lot but this was a little too pop for me. I prefer her folksie stuff
Love the temptations
Fun album but not something I’ll seek out.
Legendary blues music!
Really enjoyed the funk and blues feel here. Fun album
I am so-so on Metallica and didn’t know what to expect, but this was AWESOME! The symphonic orchestra behind them added a fullness and completeness to the music that enhanced is a major way. Made every song better.
This album had no redeeming qualities
Didn’t care for this
Enjoyable
Didn’t like this one at all
Quality but not my thing.
Eh, it was ok. Not anything aoecial
Meh. Boring.
Meh. Boring.
Listened to it twice. Enjoyed it
I knew a lot of these songs but had never listened to this album before. Great album
I enjoyed this album a lot. Hat never heard of Traffic before.
This was ok
Classic hip hop. But not my thing.
Terrible. Had to turn off half way thru
Not bad. Had hints of Alanis Morissette, Sarah MacLaughlin, and Tori Amos, but yet the whole album sounded the same. Fits right in with the other 90’s female vocalists - but there’s a reason it didn’t become a hit like the others did.
It was good. I’d listen to it again but probably wouldn’t seek it out.
Radiohead just doesn’t speak to me
I enjoyed this one a lot.
A lot of amazing free flow sounds. Jazz/rock/spanish/blues all wrapped together.
Great album!
I enjoy this
I love Paul Simon and this album is no exception
Good 60’s soul rock.
Eh, this was ok
Very meh. Sinks into the background.
Amazing album! Loved it!
Good artistry.
Bowie is Bowie. Like it don’t love it
Very meh
Didn’t really care for it.
Can be nice dinner music
No bad.
Best David Bowie album so far but still not quite for me
Really nice jazz and blues rock
Doesn’t speak to me
One of the best albums ever!
Just kind of blends in with others like it.
Enjoyable
Not my thing
Live Frank!
Good dinner music
Not bad but Not as good as I expected. Was pretty soft 70’s rock.
Beatles are the best ever
Best Oasis album
Really enjoyed the jazz/rock feel
Typical 60’s psychedelic rock sound. Not bad but didn’t stand out.
Classic Neil Young sound
Fleetwood Mac doesn’t dissappoint
Ok album if in the right mood. Very slow and mellow. Kind of reminds me of something to listen to in a planetarium but with lyrics
Terrific album. Even better as a complete album than the hits by themselves.
Not as good as I expected it to be
Doesn’t speak to me
Good album. Enjoyed it.
Meh
Meh. 60’s country mixed with 60’s California rock.
Not in Apple Music
Good album. Knew a number of songs already
Style was good. Her voice wasn’t easy on the ears though.
Great soul album!
Very non-special
Great album all the way thru
Very weird. All singing about being dirty hippies
Just blends in. Nothing special
Beautiful voice and great folk songs.
Not my thing
Not what I expected, but in a bad way. Electric much more than any kind of metal.
Great classic rock album!
Stevie Wonder is awesome
Didn’t listen, but no interest in expanding “dance” music
Janis Joplin has some pipes! Really enjoyed this after not knowing what to expect
Don’t like Madonna
Elvis is good
I always enjoyed this album
Love this!
This was ok. Sounded like a Leonard Cohen album, but his voice isn’t as good.
It was better than I expected, but it’s probably not anything I’ll seek out. I think it would have been a bigger hit in the 90’s
Nope. Doesn’t speak to me
Honestly, I thought this was pretty terrible
Nope. Doesn’t speak to me
Very average. Near psychedelic sound, but nothing special
Amazing album
Classic Nick Drake
Loved it!
Not bad
One of the best live albums ever!
Very meh
I never listened to a Steely Dan album before. It was much better than I expected.
Not as good as Pretzel Logic. More soft-rock. But some good jazz vibe’s too
Maybe if in the right mood. Very elevator-y, but more harsh sounds. Ended up skipping a few at the end because they were too sharp and her tone was off key
Could be ok while making dinner. Some big band and big voice
Not my thing.
Great blues!
Enjoyed more than I thought I would.
60’s British rock sound. Very enjoyable
Some great jazz!
Clearly quality but not my thing at all
Some great Queen songs, but together as an album very hit or miss.
Again, some great songs, but also some that are meh. Solid 4
Not bad. But not something I’d just put on
Meh. It was good but not something I’d seek out
Not very good. With as much as I like 60’s British pop/rock, it’s no wonder I had never heard of them
Good album. Love the opening track.
It’s ok. But the entire album sounds the same. Got tired of it.
Never liked this one. She’s upset they were never as big as Nirvana - but they’re not as good.
Nice jazz tunes
Nope
No bad. Very David Bowie-esque
One of the best!
Enjoyed this a lot!
Good for making a Spanish dinner
Eh. Blends in with other alt rock
This album wasn’t on Apple Music, but I was able to add all songs in order. She has a great voice and some fun songs. With that said, I doubt I’d put it on.
Carolyn would like this more than me. Reminds me of music my mom likes a lot.
Album was fine.
Very slow and uninteresting
Just doesn’t speak to me
I know some of these songs from 90’s alt rock, but the style isn’t for me.
Another alt album that’s just so so
Meh
Good classic rock
Nice mellow folksy feel
Ethereal sound. Pretty, but didn’t hook me.
I enjoyed this. Good live rock album
I love Dolly but it’s not something I’d just throw on
Some good throw back songs here. I can appreciate their talent and the quality, but not my thing.
Typical 80’s alt
Definitely not my thing
Terrible noise
It was ok.
Great jazz!
Typical 80’s pop. Not bad.
Great 50’s rock sound
80’s pop rock. Not my thing.
Really don’t like this.
Great for angry/workouts
Not as good as I expected it to be
Amazing album! Legendary
It was ok. Country folk. Not my style
Not bad for some mellow alt
Good funky jazz
Typical bob dylan
Really enjoyed. Mellow
Didn’t like
Really really liked this
Fine, but just blends in
Good Irish Alt. I can see putting this on.
Eh. So-so
Not as good as I expected
Awesom
Fantastic
Great classic rock album
Good background while having dinner
Great Clapton!
Decent depending on the mood
Nice, calm, and enjoyable.
What I’d expect from Bob Marley.
Great blues music
Great classic album
No good
Nah
Good classic rock
I’m don’t listening to electronic on this list.
Not liking this at all
Meh
Great Jazz!
Great early grunge
Not really for me
Enjoyed
Nope
Not my style
Not bad. Just not my style
Love Stevie
John Prine isn’t the style I normally go for but I love his stuff.
Good grungy rock. I like it.
Great Bruce
Not for me
Love me some Stones!
I didn’t like this one
Could be good depending on mood.
Awesome funk!
Fun, but can’t really listen to this all the way thru
More great bruce
Decent 90’s alt that I hadn’t heard before. If you don’t like 90’s alt, you probably won’t like this. But if that is your style this is definitely worth a listen.
I’m enjoying the Steely Dan this list has exposed me to
Great album
I don’t like this stuff
Listened all the way thru and just couldn’t get into it at all
One of the best albums of all time!
