Dire Straits
3/5
It was good. I’d listen to it again but probably wouldn’t seek it out.

Marty Robbins
1/5
This album was just plain boring. Simple guitar strums with stories put to simple melodies. I wish I knew what made this an album that I needed to listen to.

Fairport Convention
4/5
This one made me think of my mom the whole time. Never heard it before but it’s exactly what she likes. I enjoyed it. Beautiful voice and nice harmonies.

Björk
2/5
First song, Human Behaviour was good. Overall, the album is a little too '90's pop for me. Good techno beats that had me bobbing my head and enjoying though. As the album went on, it got old and repetitive. I'll rate this 2-stars. Didn't hate it, but wouldn't choose to listen to it.
The Clash
4/5
Great album and definitely iconic. I’ll rate this 4 stars because I enjoy the album, and would definitely put on from time to time, but not a favorite. Good album construction with amazing opening and closing tracks. Their sound gets a little stale about ⅔ of the way in.
Louis Prima
4/5
Great album! A lot of fun to listen to and will certainly be putting on to make dinner. I’ve already shared it with a few people. Pleasant surprise. 4 stars
The Doors
3/5
Great album. Good composition. Going between 3-4 stars. Will land on 3 stars because I don’t know that I’ll seek the album out, but would enjoy when it’s on.
Jimi Hendrix
2/5
Not my thing. A bit to electric jam band for me.
The Stooges
1/5
Not my thing. A bit to electric jam band for me.
3/5
Easy rating here. 3-star.
Good album. I can see why this is a legendary album. But it’s not something I’d seek out.
William Orbit
1/5
Did not like this.
Chicago
5/5
Loved this album! Shared with a bunch of people and added songs to playlists. Will seek this out to listen to again.
Booker T. & The MG's
3/5
Great instrumental album to listen to while making dinner or to have on in the background
Lou Reed
3/5
Good album. Not much my thing but some great individual songs
The Smiths
2/5
Was ok but nothing special. Wouldn’t turn off but also wouldn’t look for it.
The Go-Go's
2/5
Didn’t really care for. It’s fine but not for me.
Kings of Leon
3/5
Not a bad album. Some fun songs. Enjoyed listening but won’t seek it out.
Heaven 17
2/5
Definitely “80’s alternative”. Listened to the entire album and it never spoke to me. A bit to German electric rock for me. Would never put this on myself.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
2/5
Album was very “meh”. Not bad but nothing special
Portishead
2/5
Another meh album. This sounded a bit like Fiona Apple, but not as good.
Manu Chao
1/5
This is definitely not my style of music. I could tell it was well put together, but it’s not for me.
Jane Weaver
1/5
Did not like this one. Ended up skipping a number of the songs.
Public Enemy
3/5
Good album. Not what I’ll seek out though.
The Sensational Alex Harvey Band
3/5
Decent, fun album. Had never heard of this band before nor any of the songs. Enjoyed it but not to the point that I’ll seek it out. 3 stars
Great album. The first 3 tracks were all big hits. Will definitely listen to again.
The Coral
3/5
Not a bad album but nothing special. Surprised this counts as an album I have to listen to before I die…
Bob Dylan
3/5
It’s obvious why Dylan is thought of as among the best. Great songs and great album. I just prefer when others perform his songs
Joanna Newsom
1/5
Absolutely awful. Why on earth is this an album I have to listen to? Seems like someone is too desperate to seem deep and artsy.
Lucinda Williams
3/5
Was a decent album. Won’t seek it out.
Common
2/5
I can see why this is so lauded as a great album, but it doesn’t speak to me. But the messages weren’t made for me - a middle-aged white guy from the suburbs. I appreciate the artistry, and really liked some of it, but I won’t be looking to listen again.
Miles Davis
2/5
I was excited for this album because I like Miles Davis. But this isn’t the Miles I normally listen to. It had no direction. Just seemed like people recording experimentations with no discernment. Ended up disappointing
Maxwell
2/5
Another album in this list that I can understand why it’s on here, but just doesn’t speak to me. Some good instrumental pieces and good soul beat. But it didn’t connect.
Cyndi Lauper
3/5
When Cyndi Lauper came up, I was disappointed and didn’t want to listen. But then when listening to the album, I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed it more than I expected. A number of big hits came from this album.
Marty Robbins
1/5
This album was just plain boring. Simple guitar strums with stories put to simple melodies. I wish I knew what made this an album that I needed to listen to.
Incubus
3/5
I was a bit disappointed by this album. I know the 3 hits on this album and like each of them. So I expected to enjoy the album. But the album was just ok as a complete mix.

Jethro Tull
4/5
Great classic rock story-telling album
Janis Joplin
4/5
Really enjoyed this album. Had never listened to it before but her voice really puts soul into the songs.
Fugees
2/5
Some of this was good - but mostly the tracks that sampled other songs. Didn’t show much original creativity
The Crusaders
2/5
This album felt very much “of a time”.
It was fine - but just another album where I don’t understand why this is on a list of albums I should listen to before I die.
The Roots
2/5
I was really excited when I saw it was the roots. I have never listened to an album of theirs before. I didn’t like it as much as I expected to.

4/5
Ray Charles never disappoints!
Moby
3/5
I recognized some of the songs from getting radio play, but aside from that, this album was just ok. Didn’t really connect with me.
3/5
I can see why this was foundational for punk rock. I can also see why it didn’t get great reviews right away. Didn’t love listening to it, but definitely hear the Clash in their sound
Bon Jovi
4/5
Great 80’s rock album with some big hits on it.
Led Zeppelin
5/5
Absolutely legendary album!
Elvis Presley

Mekons
2/5
Nothing special.
Willie Nelson
4/5
I really enjoyed this album. Something about Willie Nelson that puts me at ease.
Serge Gainsbourg
1/5
Meh. It was fine but I don’t understand French and it’s not like the melodies or musicianship were so spectacular that they made up for it.
Killing Joke
1/5
There’s a reason that Killing Joke isn’t a household name. This was just noise
3/5
This album was fun. Not their best but I enjoyed it.
CHVRCHES
1/5
Did not like this.
Gillian Welch
3/5
I enjoyed this album. Slow and chill but not something I’ll probably look up to play a lot more.

3/5
Enjoyable jazz. A little more eclectic than I like, but still enjoyed it.
Ananda Shankar
2/5
The music was good. I enjoyed the covers. But I can’t get over the constant drone behind the sitar. It grains on me.

5/5
Foo Fighters are awesome

Nine Inch Nails
4/5
Enjoyed this album throughout.

Electronic music doesn’t speak to me
Girls Against Boys
1/5
In a day when alt rock was huge, there’s no wonder this one never became a hit. No good
GZA
3/5
Really enjoyed the beat throughout this album, but I’m not the target audience for the lyrics and what these songs are about so I didn’t connect with it.
Elliott Smith
4/5
I know Elliott Smoth from Good Will Hunting soundtrack and knew 2 of the songs on this album. It is a good album but all the songs have a very similar vibe and sound to them.
The Pogues

Not really my thing. When I listen to metal, I want there to still be art in it. Metallica does a great job with that. But this just sounds like crunchy guitar and slamming on the drums with no discernment for putting together a melody or consistent rhythm.
