Always loved it, particularly the first and last tracks
Listened Before: This album is a gem. Literally any song on here could have been released as a single and probably gone to number one. Solidly written, well produced, and the performance is... well it's the Beatles. Added to Library? N (Not really my style) Songs added to Playlist: Please Mister Postman, All My Loving
Nice to hear some original Beatles - mixed with some covers 👍🏻
The ascent to absolute greatness continues! Some of their greatest early songs are here.
Los amooo
😍😍😍
Hah, this was easy: stone cold classic that was a joy to go back and revisit, it’s been awhile since I listened to it straight through. And I like everything except “Little Child” and possibly “Devil in Her Hear”.
I could just say "it's the Beatles" and give it a five, but I don't think that would do service to this album because it isn't the most well known Beatles album, and indeed it doesn't have... well, any of the songs that they're traditionally known for. But the thing is, every song stands tall on this album. They're not hits, but they're not mediocre either. They put the work in on the songs they wrote for this album, and chose the others that they covered well. It's a fantastic rock album of mostly love songs, and only the Beatles could make it as engaging as it is.
Quite a time warp. This album was recorded in mid-1963 and released in November of the same year. The band had not yet visited the U.S., the album hit the stores and radio in the same month JFK was assassinated, and the band members were still so very young. It's very difficult for me to extract the history, culture, and context of the band and the bigger picture from the album, and I don't really want to. It's still all before I was born, but it was all such a part of my early youth that it feels quite familiar. Listening to the album, which I haven't heard in so many years but for a few songs here and there, I still find their songwriting talent to be remarkable. Love the performances on the album, too. I hear such great influences on their music -- 50s pop, rockabilly, early rock 'n roll, a teensy bit of jazz swing, hints of very early surf rock, doo-wop, blues, and so on -- yet even as far back as this very early album they still sound very much like The Beatles. Overall, I really enjoy the album. It's fun, it's not overcomplicated, catchy, and I'm glad to have listened to it again.
so twee so cute. so great.
it's crazy how ahead of the time this band was, releasing in 1977. This album sounds like some of early 2000's Alt Rock. They really made a statement releasing music so ahead of the time.
Beatles at their Mop-top height here! Some great tunes on it from the Beatlemania era and pre |John's "Bigger Than Jesus" Gaffe. can really see their progression as songwriters, as usual George just gets a look-in songwriting wise. "All My loving" "Till There Was You" Covers "Please Mr Postman" & "Roll over Beethoven" highlights for me. Of course in the top 1001 albums of all time!
What can I say about The Beatles that hasn't already been said. Super groovy album, vocals on full display with surf-style rock 'n roll instrumentals underneath. The vocal doubling is done so perfectly on select tracks throughout, and the harmonies are very enjoyable. This album truly marks the start of a new era for pop music. Fave tracks: It Won't Be Long, I Wanna Be Your Man, Money (That's What I Want)
What can be said about this record that hasn't already been said? Lennon, in particular, is on fire throughout - reeling off a procession of songs that must have gladdened Cynthia's heart. Little did she know.
This is catchy shit, and while I think I prefer mid to late Beatles much more, that early sound is still so fun.
One of The Beatles's best
Iconic. 5 stars
1001 Albums Generator Day 7 Homer Simpson: "I never knew you were such a Beatles fan." Ned Flanders: "Of course I am! They were bigger than Jesus!" The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy tends to be remembered mostly for concepts and isolated jokes (towels, the Infinite Improbability Drive, Paranoid Android etc), but some of Douglas Adams' observations of behaviour have stayed with me. One of these is a moment shortly after the Earth is demolished. Arthur Dent, having narrowly escaped, is trying to get his head around it. He thinks of his parents and his sister, that he'll never see them again. He doesn't react; it's just too big. He thinks about the person he stood behind in the supermarket queue a few days before. The whole supermarket has gone, and everyone in it. He panics. He tries to start small again and build up, but when it hits him that there's no longer such a thing as a McDonald's burger, he passes out. Talking about The Beatles can be too much to take in; I think that's one of the reasons us fans can be such anoraks. Peter Jackson's Get Back was fantastic because it indulges that impulse to collect minute details, but also because it makes The Beatles smaller, by dropping us right in there at a moment when they were still four friends writing songs, making each other laugh, with a future together still available. This is my way of making them small: talking around the subject to remind myself that this was an album made quickly by a group of bright young men, "a good little rock 'n' roll band," as McCartney puts it. They were still excited just to be doing it. George gets his first songwriting credit here, and maybe it's telling that it's the first song of unmasked, unguarded personal discontent. A sign of things to come. Or maybe it was just a miserable day on a long tour and he felt a bit under the weather in a hotel in Bournemouth. I'm getting ahead of things. They hadn't even been to America yet. So we focus on the details: the verses of All I've Got To Do, and the precise, unique timbre of Ringo's cymbal smacks. Better writers than me can and have talked about their place in the lineage of vocal girl groups, the pros and cons of their covers versus the originals etc etc. The vastness, richness and importance of their story don't persuade me they're a great band; the music does that. But they do help to remind me how miraculous the act of making songs is, and make me want to read, write and discuss other artists with the same close attention. This is the album of theirs I heard last, and not the one I have the greatest personal connection with, but it's absolutely thrilling stuff.
I love the Beatles, so this will score well, but it is so early in their career that they hadn't quite developed into the band they became. Lots of cover versions, which is odd when they had three of the best songwriters (and Ringo). Thus does include the first Harrison song on an LP though, which is interesting. All the songs are good or great, and all are pretty much part of life in Britain. I prefer their later stuff, when they were exploring the fringes of modern music and developing the future, but still love this. It is both good in its own right, and an interesting snapshot of the biggest band in the world, ever, just as they claimed that title.
Great album, all my loving is a 10/10 song
Pure quality rhythm and blues pop.
Rating: 9/10 Best songs: It won’t be long, All my loving, Don’t bother me, Not a second time, Money
What is there to say
85. With the Beatles - Beatles 14 tracks It's pretty hard not to love this. It just flows & keeps you interested & all the tracks are short & sweet & it leaves you wanting more rather than less. It's aged, but that doesn't have to be a bad thing. Is "beautiful" too strong? 5/5
Well it has to be a 5 starts doesn't it. So many top tunes on here!! Like to hear Beatles do covers, as they are covered so much themselves
Hard to know what to say about the Beatles. I've never really been a massive Beatles fan, I like them as much as the next person but you just can't deny how good they are really.
Love this, can't believe it's just 8 months after first album. Great covers as well as originals
so good
Had not heard this Beatles album before but I liked it. Good collection of tunes with some energy.
I love this stage of the Beatles, it's just music that makes you want to dance and have fun. The vocals and songs are great, even if half are covers!
The Beatles' first huge hit. A classic that I've listened to hundreds of times. Can't get much better in 1963, that's for sure.
just wonderful...
Atemporales.
Brings me back to college party days. A classic
Classic Album! Their harmonies are stunning while being so distinct/ creative at the same time. While some of the tracks are covers from other songs, that dosen't make them have less meaning. Love early Beatles work
Always a fan of early Beatles
Although not as great as their debut it´s still a great album in their discography.
Certainly an all time classic.
FINE! I'LL GIVE THEM 5 STARS! DARN IT WHY DO THEY HAVE TO BE SO GREAT. EVERY. DUMB. ALBUM. BRILLIANT.
Yes
This is probably the most forgettable Beatles album... but it's a Beatles album.
Classic. Great songs. Great covers.
Lord of songs added to my playlist, really great!
Theres a reason that these guys are some of the GOATs
Drive rock and disco music. Ageless classic always will be good and attractive.
Wonderful! Brought back many happy memories!
Awesome album!
Top! Ple de Singles
Yay!! Especially good on vinyl filling up your whole house with sound!
I mean...duh
I mean, it's not the best Beatles, but it's the Beatles regardless.
Quite good. I mean... Come on.
Yay Beatles!! :3 This is the second band/artist to come up that I’m actually already a fan of. Even then, it’s been a while since I revisited the pre-Rubber Soul era. This was cool though! It’s a great time capsule of where the music industry was in the mid-60s. Technically speaking, it was their personalities that made them stand out. The way John and Paul harmonize and play off each other, Ringo’s playing style, and the very energetic yet “safe” way of going about their music ensured their success. It doesn’t strike me the same way anything Sgt. Pepper onward does, but it’s a very good listen! Favorite track: All My Loving (remembering this was the song that played in the hospital as John Lennon died was weirdly poetic, especially with it being a Paul song)
Not my favorite era of the Beatles, and honestly I was anticipating a low rating here. Every track on the album was fun and enjoyable. 60s pop at its best. My only real criticism couldn't be helped. Stereo mixes of the time were fucking awful. I'd rather listen to mono that vocals in one ear and instruments in the other. I'm so glad stereo mixing made great leaps early on because I'd hate to listen to some of my favorite classic rock tracks like this. Ugh ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is definitely not The Beatle's at their best, but it's still The Beatles so it is still pretty good. This is clearly a band who is still finding their footing, but the talent is there. A lot of the best songs on here are covers, but The Beatles do a good job of making the songs their own. The album is pretty short just over a half hour long, but packs in 14 songs so they are quick and punchy. Nothing overstays it's welcome. An enjoyable listen, I was so happy to pull a Beatles album after some lackluster albums the last few days. Favorite Track - Please Mr. Postman Least Favorite Track - You Really Got A Hold On Me ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What a delightful, sincere little album. My hot take is that this album is better than Abbey Road. Hear me out: on Abbey Road the Beatles had their heads way too far up their british arses and you can definitely hear that in their music. But here? They are still working as a team. And they are full of rock and roll energy.
With The Beatles might be the best example on this list (so far, at least) of a record that you should only listen to before you die because of its historical importance. Almost everything else the band did was better and grander than it. Still a solid record though, with some amazing lesser-known tracks that got overshadowed by the dozens of masterpieces the band would put out afterwards.
Maybe it's not their best, but it was enjoyable and catchy
Punchy and Coy. Fun early Beatles album with a lot of their own writing. Not much to add but this album goes quick and has decent songwriting while also showing their influences. They struggle a bit on the more American or swaggering styles like Roll Over Beethoven or Money, I think their other poppy songs suit them much better at this phase. Highlights: It Won't Be Long, All I've Got to Do, All My Loving, Til There Was You
While clearly not yet the fully formed version of the band that would go on to be so influential, there is a lot to like here. And while some probably write these songs off as being too pop, there are lots of examples of some pretty atypical chord structures here that I think hint at what these guys were on the verge and capable of.
This was interesting. People often write off earlier Beatles music because of how much they changed over the years, but while this isn't Abbey Road by any imaginative stretch, it's still solid and holds up pretty well. They still had their nice three part harmonies and still had some solid songwriting. Favorite Track: All My Loving
Great tunes. Wow they sound so dated compared to their later stuff though. 3.5
Slightly odd choice, as from the pre-Rubber Soul years I'd have picked Please Please Me, Hard Day's Night or Help! ahead of this one. But anyway it's still good. Probably notable for George Harrison's first writing credit and All My Loving is a highlight of their touring era. Think it's a 4 as I don't find the second half so amazing with all the covers. However I do find it telling to see where The Beatles' influences were coming from (rock 'n' roll, Motown) when you consider how much they pushed things forwards - the psychedelica, experimentation and baroque pop of their mid-60s output seems a million miles from this despite only being a few years later. But I'm not rating on potential so 4* it is
I am starting to understand the beatles but also it felt like a bunch of covers or maybe i dont know music
with the Beatles, you have to take in the incredible impact of their music. am i going to listen to this a ton, probably not. but its a really good album that continued to make waves in the music community. that said, this album had some pretty great songs on it. personal faves are 'it won't be long', 'all my loving', 'hold me tight', 'please mr. postman'. man, the beatles really had something, didn't they?
The second Beatles album. It might actually be the worst of their studio albums as not much of a progression from their debut. But set in the context of 1963 and not knowing what came later, let's take a look A lot of it is early Beatles by the numbers, "It Won't Be Long" rings through with teenage optimism and there's no doubt a lot of mushy sentimentality here - "All I've Got To Do" being quite throwaway stuff really. But when it hits it works well with "All My Loving" still sounding a classic and of the few cover versions the gorgeous "Til There Was You" shines through as the pick of the bunch with its simplistic beauty, one of McCartney's best vocals of the early Beatles era. Most of the other covers here have been done better, not that it's a crime to fail to do Roll Over Beethoven as well as Chuck Berry, like. By the next album onwards it would feel that every new release shifted them up a gear, but even the Beatles weakest work is still a pretty good album.
I have never listened to a Beatles album from start to finish before, but I had a really good time. So many songs that I didn't know, but I fair amount that I did recognise. I can understand why the girls were screaming for these men
I used to absolutely love this album when I was at university so it has a special place in my heart for sure. That being said, I know for sure this is nowhere near the best album of the Beatles. Arguably their first album, though with less originals, actually has something more endearing and more of a cohesive feel to it. It’s still a quality album there is no denying that, and I actually heard some new things in the songs this time around too which is testament to the timeless quality of the Beatles. Despite my familiarity, I’m still changing and chopping my favourites years after first hearing it. 4/5 Standout tracks (this time): Don’t Bother Me Til There Was You Roll Over Beethoven
Even early/not fully baked Beatles are good Beatles.
Good album from the Beatles. Underrated by beatles fans.
I think there’s two ways of approaching ‘With The Beatles.’ The first is that it’s from 1963. The concept of the album as we now know it now, didn’t really come about until 1966. This couldn’t really be seen as a great album by our current standards, or even the strongest conceivable album The Beatles could have come out with at that particular time. Whilst starting off strong, it does descend into a load of Motown covers; which whilst technically good, never better the original. It’s a solid, yet an uneven, collection of songs. The second way of looking at it, IS THAT IT’S LITERALLY ‘WITH THE BEATLES’ BY THE LITERAL BEATLES. What more do you want? The fact this album still sounds THIS energised, exciting and full of life is absolutely astonishing. How is this even possible…
If there is one Beatles album that doesn't get its proper due in the current age, then it has to be this one. I have a suspicion that some of it is because of its particularly egregious stereo mix, which is the only available version on streaming services. It's of course also because of the albums that came out before and after this one. Please Please Me has the underdog thing going for it, with endless charm and a true live quality. A Hard Day's Night is more sonically varied, ridiculously catchy, and made up completely of Lennon/McCartney originals. With The Beatles bridges that gap perfectly. The work they did in this little period was obviously crucial to their later astronomical success, and was apparently the lasting favorite album for a lot of first generation fans. Lennon even called it "the true sound of the Beatles". To me it's very easy to hear why. The first three joints are a brilliant knockout of fantastic melodies, great vocals, and a whole lot of energy. And they keep up that energy throughout the runtime. Macca sings 'Til There Was You beautifully over some surprisingly sophisticated jazz chords. Some more highlights are their three Motown covers, during which John Lennon gives some fantastic full-throated performances. There a couple of spotty songs like Little Child, Roll Over Beethoven, and I Wanna Be Your Man (sorry Ringo) which don't do much other than keeping up that energy. Other songs like Hold Me Tight and Not A Second Time are quite enjoyable, but more forgettable in terms of songwriting. This is far from their strongest collection of songs, yet there's always something worthwhile to listen out for: the triplets on All My Loving, their passionate harmonies throughout, unassuming yet effective guitar- and drum fills, the infamous "aeolian cadence" on Not A Second Time. Its a lot of sugary fun. This sound was revolutionary at the time. And it's got such an innocent quality as well. I just never get tired of the sound of these fellas.
"With the Beatles by The Beatles, their second studio album, builds on their early sound and hints at the greatness to come. You can hear their pop instincts really sharpening here, with tight harmonies, energetic performances, and confident songwriting. The album brings together seven original Lennon-McCartney tracks, George Harrison’s first composition Don’t Bother Me, and a set of brilliant rock and roll covers. It’s a near-perfect record that captures the raw energy and excitement of early Beatlemania. Favourite tracks: All My Loving is an undeniable classic, Don’t Bother Me is a real surprise, and Roll Over Beethoven is pure rock and roll Least favourite tracks: None, there isn’t a weak song here Album artwork: Simply iconic, the moody black and white portrait is one of their most striking covers
Leaps far ahead of their debut, the Lennon/McCartney songwriting evolving at a ridiculous pace with "All My Loving" the equal of the Chuck Berry/Smokey Robinson covers on here, "I Wanna Be Your Man" tossed off as Ringo number while also establishing The Rolling Stones, and the first Harrison credit to boot ("Don't Bother Me", also really good)
It’s the Beatles. 4 stars
No. 185/1001 I Won't Be Long 4/5 All I've Got To Do 4/5 All My Loving 4/5 Don't Bother Me 4/5 Little Child 3/5 Till There Was You 4/5 Please Mister Postman 4/5 Roll Over Beethoven 4/5 Hold Me Tight 3/5 You Really Got Your Hold On Me 4/5 I Wann Be Your Man 3/5 Devil In Her Heart 3/5 Not A Second Time 3/5 Money 4/5 Average: 3,64 Their songwriting isn't quite as it is in their later projects. Still these songs are damn catchy.
pleasant! clearly trying to appeal to their newly gained american fans with all the motown / american covers. & they did keep two of the best songs from those recording sessions off this album (she loves you and especially i wanna hold your hand). i still find all my loving to be the best track on the album but that's just my paul girlie sensibilities... iconic cover to be fair, i just know theres other beatles eras i like better
with the beatles. i'm always with the beatles. i personally love young beatles, short songs, easy lyrics, rythms that invite you to move your body, lovely melodies and great stereo sound. although, their songwriting abilities were not fully developed yet, probably the best songs in this album are covers. mccartney's young voice has the ability to touch my heart every time. listening to the beatles without headphones should be a crime. this album contains the first harrisong, "don't bother me". written while on tour, while he was ill in bed. 3 stars out of 5. favourite tracks: all my loving, don't bother me, till there was you (cover), you really got a hold on me (cover), devil in her heart (cover).
With the Beatles is a classic example of the band’s early, slightly naïve approach to love songs. The album leans heavily into simple romantic themes, which can feel a bit corny at times, but it suits the youthful energy the Beatles were projecting at this stage of their career. One of the record’s strengths lies in its cover songs. The Beatles deliver solid and well-executed versions of non-original tracks, showing their tight musicianship and obvious influences, even if these songs don’t always feel essential to their legacy. The album is short and efficiently put together, making it an easy and light listen from start to finish. It flows well and never overstays its welcome. However, this also contributes to one of its weaknesses: With the Beatles isn’t particularly memorable as a whole. While it’s enjoyable in the moment, few tracks truly linger after it ends. I listened to the master from the Beatles in Mono edition (5099963379716). It’s a good-quality master that respects the original recordings, although it’s obvious that the material comes from early 1960s sessions—the age of the recordings is clearly noticeable in the sound. That said, songs like “All My Loving” and “Money (That’s What I Want)” stand out as highlights, offering more energy and personality than the rest of the tracklist. 7/10
Unrelated to this 1001 albums listening project, I came across a list of the greatest bands of all time earlier today. Unsurprisingly, The Beatles were at the top of it. I don’t think this is at all controversial, but it’s also kind of the bummer with these kinds of things, because at least when it comes to rock and pop music, I can’t see anything else having close to the impact that The Beatles had either musically or, maybe more importantly, culturally. All of which is to say that everything Beatles carries a huge amount of weight. And in the case of With The Beatles the significance of their later albums I think has led people to maybe hold their earlier ones in higher regard than they strictly deserve. Half of this album is covers, which serves to highlight how good of songwriters they were on their original tracks, but they don’t quite feel fully formed as a band here yet. The best was still a couple of years off for them yet.
I was very much into the Beatles as a youth in the 90s. This is the one record I didn't fork over 25 of my hard earned Canadian dollars for, and I still think that was a good decision. With The Beatles really created the trope of 'rushed second album to capitalise on the debut's success' which so, so many other groups have fallen into in the years since. I'm being harsh of course, the worst Beatles record is still pretty darn good. The drop off in quality I'm sure wasn't noticed by the fans at the time because I Want To Hold Your Hand was released as a single at about the same time, which overshadowed With The Beatles save the iconic album cover. My two favourite tracks here are You Really Got A Hold On Me and Money - two covers! Also I don't think this record should be on this list.
It's fun because it's the beatles but the album wasn't particularly inspiring.
Its just 60s pop, and covers of 50s songs. I can't really say its bad at all, but its not exactly amazing either is it. Its just music, impressive they are so young and stuff and i imagine at the time it was very cool. Best song: Please Mister Postman, but mainly cus it reminds me of that vine
Pre Rubber Soul Beatles isn't really my thing, even if their graduation is so historically vital and fascinating. There is raw excitement here and a youthful charm but the real art and craft was still a couple of years off. I didn't necessarily yearn to finish it early, but was quite relieved when it was over.
The inclusion of this album on the list kind of baffles me. I get that this was probably important at the time but for an album containing 6 covers, and nowhere near their best work, it feels more important in the evolution of The Beatles than music as a whole, especially when they have 6 other albums on the list, including the follow up A Hard Day’s Night which feels more significant to me. Anyway, this is fine, there are some good songs but I’m not sure I’d include any individual tracks among my favourite Beatles songs. They were still heavily influenced by rock’n’roll and doo-wop at this stage and is evident here.
This was alright, but you'd expect something great from the Beatles, especially if featured on this list. None of the tracks stood out to me, and by the end it all I found myself bored.
The Beatles are always very listenable, perhaps from the familiarity that comes with hearing John/Paul, but the Beatles' earlier stuff just falls short compared to their later stuff.
This was fine, I definitely prefer their later output but it was a good straight up ‘rock’ album. I actually liked the covers best, especially Please Mr. Postman. I had this on in the background while doing other things and it kind of grated on my nerves at times, not sure I was in the mood for it.
Early stereo recordings were crazy. Bet this is better in mono, but I’ll disregard that. The songs are great of course, but these were still early days and it feels more like a collection of well-crafted pop songs than a proper album like the ones that would follow just a few years later. 3/5.
I'm going to say something that is going to piss some people off, but I really don't understand how The Beatles became like so insanely popular. I know it probably is more of a "you had to be there" thing, but whenever I listen I don't think "wow this is so much better than similar artists from this period. Okay hater time over, I really enjoy their music, and this album in particular has a lot of really good tracks that I'd never heard before. Devil in her heart and All my loving were the standout tracks to me.
These lads can write some decent tunes, but someone should probably give them drugs so we can see what they can really do.
Very of a time, didn't make a huge impression though. It's just so much apart of the fabric of music it's difficult to think about it as an artistic thing
The rich, attentive quality of this recording almost kills the set’s cacophony. The songs are caught between the clattering rush I imagine their Hamburg shows were and whatever it was that they were about to become. Love the deep, twanging guitars, impatient to get past the covers, I’m interested in this half-formed thing.
There were a lot of covers on this album and for the most part other people did them better. This may be a groundbreaking album, but I’m not sure it stood the test of time.
At first felt too sock-hop for me, then I really enjoyed the middle third, then it started to feel hokey again. 3.5 rounded up. EDIT: I just learned all the songs I liked the most on this album are covers. Downgrading from 3.5 to 2.5, and rounding down.
I knew most of these songs from just playing them at jams, hearing them at musicals, etc., but I've rarely listened to the originals. They are classics tho, and I like playing them. It was fun to hear them all in one "playlist". I usually just know them as "the early beatles". I was doing some chores while listening, so it didn't feel like a deep dive. But the album doesn't feel like something that needs a deep dive. It feels more like party music, vibes, rebellious, white people dancing music. It sometimes did feel like I was listening to a white and british interpretation of some very important and historic african american music. But then again, doesn't the majority of popular western music fall into that category. Funny to hear some of the biggest songwriters ever in their early stages. I don't know Beatles lore that well, so would be interesting to know how important this album is compared to some of the more popular once. It's definitely not their best work imo.
My least favourite Beatles record. The first is explosively original; subsequents are more textured; this is just flat for me.
Abteilung Schubidu haut Schlager raus. Kann es irgendwie nicht mehr hören. Überfutterterte 1.9
Album sans aucun intérêt... écouté et déjà oublié !
#30 I see Beatles on the list, I snooze 😴
5/5 beatles
Great!
Але є очевидно вдалі як Till There Was You.
Not my favorite Beatles album but what new can anyone say about such an influential and long lasting band.
Outstanding
I'm a little surprised this album made the list. Not because it's bad – in fact, it's excellent by most musical standards – but because the Beatles have about 10 albums better than this one. And this one isn’t exactly one of the universally lauded or groundbreaking ones, either. It has a buttload of excellent music, though, so I’ll give it a begrudging pass (and 5 stars and a slap on Ringo’s back). We start with the absolute lightning bolt of an opener, It Won’t Be Long. Holy balls, you can’t get much more crazed, energetic, and Beatlemania-coded. (At least, British Beatlemania. America still had a few months to go.) Some great chords, guitar fills, and admittedly bog-standard lyrics about a heartbroken guy who desperately wants his girl back. Pure talent right here. But I could say that about every track. All I’ve Got To Do is a great mid-tempo pop song with some gorgeous harmonisation. Of course, the real early-album standout (and really the standout of the entire record) is All My Loving, a McCartney-penned blitz of rhythm guitar triplets and gorgeous backing vocals and heartfelt love declarations. If there’s a song on With The Beatles you’ll recognise, it’s this one. Then there’s Don’t Bother Me, the first-ever Beatles song to venture into the great unknown of minor keys. Also the first Beatles song to be written by George Harrison. This one gets some flak from first-time listeners, but honestly, it’s kind of a banger. The main thing holding it back is the messy double-tracked vocals, but I consider those part of its early-60s charm. In contrast, Little Child is absolutely the weak point in the chain. It’s badly recorded to the point where you can hear where the vocals and harmonica cut in and out. The production isn’t great. And the lyrics are horrific. Still fun, though. I give it a pass. Till There Was You – the first of six covers on the record. And one of the strongest, for sure. Soft, lilting, and McCartney’s clear-as-a-bell vocal delivering an excellent melody. Great Spanish-esque guitar solo. Sort of the precursor to And I Love Her on their next album. The way Paul butchers the pronunciation of the word “saw” not once, but twice (“but I never *sarrr* them ringing, no, I never *sarrr* them at all”) is hilarious to no end. 10/10. Wait! Oh, yes, wait a minute, mister postman! We’re back into the frenetic Lennon-rock-energy of the opening track with another cover, this time of Please Mr. Postman. This is another one where you can really hear the tapes struggle to record everything properly. There’s so much sound happening at once that the backing vocals blur the mix every time they appear. If you want some true rock’n’roll, recorded to an acceptable quality level, look no further than their cover of Roll Over Beethoven. Another vocal by Georgey-boy – and a great one at that. Peep the way he pronounces Tchaikovsky. What a legend. Hold Me Tight is another sloppily recorded one, though in this case it’s due to the really bizarre melody Lennon and McCartney came up with. It makes it sound kind of nightmarish to sing, and judging by Paul’s weird delivery, it shows. Unusually foreboding bridge section where the cymbals are removed and we get a fun little reduction in texture. I used to reel a bit at this part of the song – but no longer. Next is I Wanna Be Your Man, a completely unserious track with crazed little vocal drop-ins by John and Paul, and a pretty good lead vocal by Ringo. From memory, this is significantly better than the Stones’ cover the following year. Speaking of covers, we get our fourth cover in You Really Got A Hold On Me, which features some great harmonisation, and not too much else. The tempo is slow and swung. A solid song, but weaker than most of the preceding ones. Another cover, Devil In Her Heart, follows. It’s the third Harrison-sung track, and not quite as good as Roll Over Beethoven, though I do like the sassy way he delivers the title line. Not A Second Time is pretty strange for a Beatles song if you think about it. A solo Lennon rock melody, then the same melody on low piano, then the same melody a third time by Lennon. And then it’s over. Also, the first of two instances of piano being used on the album. The second instance is in the final track, Money (That’s What I Want) (That’s Another Cover). Maybe it goes on just a little too long, but dang it, Lennon can freaking *perform* those rock vocals. Hit it, Johnny. A low 5 stars. Like their debut, Please Please Me. 5/5 Key tracks: It Won’t Be Long, All I’ve Got To Do, All My Loving, Roll Over Beethoven

I liked it. jammed tf out. but I like Lesley Gore's music a bit more, idk I don't listen to male singers much. but they have heavenly voices.
Another great album… Love Sly Stand! A true classic
Da Beatles.
Greatest band of all time
Son los beatles. 9,5/10
always beatles, always amazing
C’mon?? It’s The Beatles!
Love the early Beatles
excellent 5/5
Easy 5. More Beatles please.
An album I rarely listen to, along with 'Please Please Me' and 'Beatles for Sale'. There is so much here that's incredible for 1963, not least because many bands efforts in 1966 (Monkees and Byrds) are often still working this sound out. American R&B, melodicism, rock n roll is all here and it's good to be reminded that they had a myriad influences and could synthesise it into a consistently great album, Paul pulling to the hyper-melodic, John bringing a more off-kilter approach, and it all working. Initially I questioned why this one was chosen for the list. But it's a fantastic and a (probably) under-appreciated album. A fascinating snapshot of the band developing to songwriting genius by converting all their influences into the defining music of the age.
An absolute classic album. Great stuff from our boys from Liverpool
all my loving y mr postman los adoreee, amo a los beatles
★★★★★
Classic, great to do work with, uplifting
Love it
You can definitely tell it’s the “early” rock n roll sound. From this album my favorite song would definitely be George’s first written song: Don’t bother me; it does bring a different vibe to the whole album, still romance but leaning towards a different path.
Probably the weakest Beatles album, but that’s hardly much of a criticism for the greatest band of all time. All My Loving is the standout, but several other early Beatles classics on here, and the covers are probably the strongest of any of their early run.
You put Beatles, EARLY Beatles and you don't expect me to give it a 5? Get out of here.
It’s crazy how this is one of their weaker albums, but it is still better than some other artists’ best.
Beatles Stan stans the Beatles
It’s been a long time since I listened to this album with headphones. I’m struck by how well they make use of the left and right channels.
Excellent early work by the bois. Enjoyed it front to back. George Harrison's track might be my least favorite. It's pretty interesting in retrospect to see how well he develops from here.
a classic, love the beatles
Old school Beatles, ca their German era. This is their 1950s rock 'n' roll, and it brings great memories.
The Beatles are always such a pleasure to listen to, and, with this With The Beatles, they take a very funny direction. Of course, it's one of their first records, so it's not the most interesting or mind-blowing thing I've ever heard of them, but it's a very very enjoyable album. "Till There Was You" is a beautiful song, such a highlight on this immaculate record. Yes, it's a very 60's album... a very, VERY 60's record. But it's a wonderful thing. And this kind of music is also so warm. I've completely loved it.
Show stopping
My favorite of the early Beatles albums, so many great songs and the covers are fun as well.

Love love love
I’m at a 4.5 that I’ll bump up to a 5. Ultimately, it’s just a less polished version of the soundscape they’d really flesh out by “A Hard Day’s Night”. John & Paul’s songwriting skills are solid, but they aren’t quite there yet, which is totally fair for 1963, so this album relies a lot more on covers. To be fair, they’re pretty good covers, but I don’t think the Beatles can quite pull off the Motown style with the same natural swagger as the original tracks probably did. I mean, look, this is the earliest one they have on the list. It’s naturally going to be the weakest, even if it’s still good. It might be a bit closer to a 4, but I can’t really find a reason to justify bumping it down to a 4, since I was just kinda charmed by almost every track here. It’s a solid 33 minutes with a good energy throughout, and while they’re still clearly trying to figure out the dynamics of the band & who should sing which track & what instruments work & which ones don’t, it still results in a good album. Not a great album, at least by the historical standards most people remember them by, but a pretty good one for 1963. I liked it, and it’s a 4.5 bumped up to a 5 for me.
The one thing that might bring this down to four stars is the number of covers on here, but there's so many catchy pop hits that have stood the test of time how can you not give it five stars.
Pretty much every Beatles album is going to get 6 stars…expect for Yellow Submarine.
probably one of the most anticipated popular music recordings of all time, based on its 'advanced orders' in late 1963. Issued alongside 'she loves you' and 'I want to hold your hand' it captured the energy of the newly emerging Beatlemania more than the first album 'Please please me'. 'All my loving' could easily have been a single and really stands out as a Lennon & McCartney original (with 'It won't be long' in second spot). It's in the cover versions where the band really kick this time - roll over Beethoven, you really got a hold on me, til there was you, please mister postman and devil in her heart are all superb album tracks. You also have George's first song, Don't bother me and the Ringo lead vocal that they gave to the Stones. Highly entertaining and full of tunes 63 years on......
Who doesn’t love The Beatles!
Easy 5. Whilst not my favourite Beatles album its leagues above their contemporaries.
Great
Yeah I get the hype now.
Anecdote.
Reallly good what the hell
Just to be clear here I rate every album by The Beatles as 5 star. No other band had such an influence on the changes in music. They took it from seperate singers and songwriters to something that any group of young friends could do. Although this album is mostly covers you can hear the sound developing. Fave song - Money.
Historic!
How is there a Beatles album I haven’t listened to before? How many of these did they even make!
The Four are Fab!
So good some real classics here and like the variation
9 - EXCELLENT
10 It’s defo not one of my fave Beatles albums but I am a fake fan and this is the first time I’ve ever listened to this. I loved them and they’re one of those bands that no matter how long I’ve known them for I still find new songs I love. Cool cool album cover too I lov it lov lov!!!
9/10
The Beatles defined a decade, revolutionized music, and still sound amazing today. This album is 5/5 as part of the band’s origin story but, really, it also stands on its own when you consider… In 1963, bands rarely wrote their own songs. And albums were filled with…well, with filler. Yet The Beatles wrote 8 of these songs, with one tremendous song by George Harrison. Each of those songs stands on its own. A foretaste of things to come. Also, compare this with any other rock n roll album from 1963. Most have to do with surfing. You seriously won’t find anything that holds its own against what the Beatles are doing here (and on their earlier release, Please Please Me). Go ahead, check out all the top rock n roll albums of 1963. Then imagine what THIS sounded like in that context. You WILL find some great folk music (Freewheeling Bob Dylan!) and Motown. The Beatles were clearly soaking in those sounds as well. But what they accomplished here and in the years to come… just plain remarkable.
Every single Beatle album should be on this list, and every one starts at a five for me. They tackle other peoples songs with the same energy and enthusiasm and put their own stamp on them. Plus, their own songs keep getting better. Their creativity hadn't quite caught up with their talent yet. It is fun to watch. And the music world is still learning from them!
Please Please Me Album FODA, já começa épico com I Saw, pqp. Talento do caralho. Please Please Me, Love me Do, lendárias que lançaram os Beatles.
A P.S. I Love You cara, rolou algo na voz do Paul? Porque é 1963 e a voz dele tá IDÊNTICA a atual, dele velhinho, wtf? Do You Want To Know A Secret é fudida também, baita música, meio underrated. Daria 5 estrelas, obviamente. Nenhuma música ruim e várias lendárias. -- 2/12 - With The Beatles Já começa com uma fudida, gosto muito dessa It Won't Be Long, os YEAAH com drive Esse álbum tem muito mais música que eu não conhecia do que o primeiro. Acho que se pá metade eu desconhecia, mas todas daóra, adicionei a porra toda também All My Loving lendária tá aqui, Please Mister Postman também. Essa Roll Over Beethoven é toda Chuck Berry e eu nunca tinha ouvido antes, mó daóra Eu adoro o refrão da Hold Me Tight, o vai e volta com o backing vocal I Wanna Be Your Man muito foda também. To curioso pra ver quando vai dar pra sentir a primeira etapa do "amadurecimento" deles.
Great album to hear again, all the old covers, plus a few originals- Beatles at their finest
Would rate this a billion out of 5 if I could
i get the hype
Albums get 5 stars from me if I finish it and immediately want to start it over again. I listened to this one 4 times!
Beatles are pretty good
10/10
Loved
It’s the Beatles!
The originals are getting better & the energy is there for sure. Beatlemania is only a few years away at this point. The songs may not be challenging, but really what's wrong with a pop record? Absolutely nothing.
What is a great album? Sometimes, it’s when the song list is bop after bop. This is a prime example of that. It’s not super deep or experimental, but each song buries into the deepest folds of your brain and lays a clutch of eggs that, if activated, would turn you into one of those screaming girls from the height of beatlemania. Just a poppy pop masterpiece popping off.
Goat
Legends 💯
fun, light, and a pretty listen.
Look, it's perfection, it just is. When you talk about the Beatles sometimes people will shrug off their popularity and credit it solely to them being the first to do something, but in albums like this you can hear that its also because they took what was already up and coming and executed it excellently.
Wait these Beatles guys are on to something ???
Always great to go back to the Beatles…puts a tap in my foot every time.
the most goated band OAT however this is one of there weaker albums however it still carrires the essencse of what I love about the beatles and sigma starr is carrying on drums
I went into this with high expectations(it's the Beatles) and I also went into this expecting to be disappointed. Surprisingly, I wasn't! Really quite impressed with just how good this was. I can see why this was the start of pop stardom for the band and just how it launched their career. Songs were surprisingly fresh for what is considered generic 60s pop/rock and it was really tight front to back with no fluff. I do agree the mixing on a few of the songs was a little shoddy - I found the panned instruments in the first track quite jarring. However I think this is just part of the album that aged poorly, as I imagine this was something relatively new at the time. Weak 5, but a 5 nonetheless. I do wonder if I'd have given this a 4 if it wasn't Beatles. Favourite Track - Roll Over Beethoven
I'm fanatical about this band (unique, I know), so it pains me that I even thought about giving the record 4/5, but there are quite a few skippable tracks here. Still, historically speaking, both Please Please Me and this record were monumental. It's interesting to hear some of the utterly shit recording quality on a few of these tracks from a band that was renowned for its polished instrumentation and tight harmonies. In these early records, though, it's not purely about every song being a banger or every recording session being a revelation; it was just incredible to have four dudes presenting as a single unit being this cohesive, blending genres, and making something brand new. Also worth mentioning just how much better this record was than Please Please Me, not to mention how much they improved for each of their next several albums. 5/5 even though it's one of the worst records...from one of the best bands.
A++±++++++++++++++± I'm not so sad and lonely with the Beatles.
Classic
Me gustó mucho la verdad, bastante pegadizas, buen ritmo, guitarra, me gustó
i liked
favorites: track one: it won’t be long, track three: all my loving, track nine: hold me tight *love that they covered songs from berry/smokey/gordy/motown
The Beatles were the first band I ever fell in love with. This album got some bangers on it
Fantastic album. Classic early Beatles and great songwriting. The stereo remaster isn’t particularly easy to listen to in headphones
Lots of classics on this album, it was a great listen
Hard for me to be objective on any Beatles album as they’re my favorite group; this feels like the album where their love of Black music comes through the strongest (3 Motown covers plus a Chuck Berry), but they always bring something interesting to their interpretations of songs. “All My Loving” is a perfect song imo, and both John Lennon’s driving rhythm guitar triplets (a personal favorite) and George’s solo have been praised and discussed to death in internet guitar circles. I always thought “I Wanna Be Your Man” was a weaker Beatles song but they bring energy and life to it. The reason I love them is because it’s comforting but also because despite being a 4 piece rock and roll band, every time I go back to them I discover something new, quirky, interesting. The harmonies, the energy, the chord voicings, the creativity of the individual parts etc. It’s probably a 4 star album but I have a feeling I’ll to 5 for every Beatles album.
This one always gives me a distinct Christmas vibe anyway
Goated
You can really feel the 60s vibe in this one and it somehow sounds very modern at the same time. That was a fun listen start to the end. 5/5
Fundational
100/100
It’s hard to believe that this album came out 62 years ago
Already the signs were all there - feels like a bad really taking off. The energy and inventiveness even when doing covers is next level.
10/10 it won’t be long 12/18/25
already knew it but it's really cool
wait a min mr postman!!
The album that started it all
The first chord of the song "It Won't Be Long" is already five points. Beatles forever!
10/12/2025 I really am no fan of the Beatles.... at all. But I actually liked this album. Spotify listeners: 33.5 million
Zuhause, Gerstetten, Deutschland. Tolles Album!
No. 40 Some great songs on here. Enjoyed!
What an album, how could anyone not feel great listening to early Beatles? My parents used to play The Beatles a lot when I was a kid, but I haven't listened to any of their older music intentionally as an adult. I'm glad this album crossed my path again because I really enjoyed it! The whole album is great, from the surf-rocky "It Won't Be Long" to the acoustic Latin Jazz-adjacent "Till There Was You" — With The Beatles shows off some of the band's versatility. Just don't pay too much attention to Ringo's bongo fills ┐(‘~`;)┌
Serious
The Beatles are one of the few bands where I like every album. Although their style over the years changed their output never lost its excellence and this early album is no exception. I think personally the thing I love about their music is that they can make the most joyful poppy song sound so melancholic. Here, even in the opening track singing about how it wont be long till he sees his girl they sound mournful. I love it.
Beatles albums are so f’ck’n awesome. They make it seem like anyone could do it.
Coherent album vision, nearly zero filler, and punchy 31 minute runtime. And also it’s the Beatles.
Early Beatles firing on all cylinders.
"This masterpiece opens up with two Lennon dominated numbers... "it won't be long" and "all i've got to do"... then Paul comes in with "all my loving"... George with "don't bother me"... John again with "little child" and Paul with "till there was you"... John answers that cover with "please mr. postman" and George answers those covers with one of his own "roll over beethoven"... "hold me tight" is Paul again... and they harmonize together with the Smokey Robinson song "you really got a hold on me"... Ringo sings "i wanna be your man"... George again with "devil in her heart"... John does "not a second time" and they close this gem out with Lennon screaming the old favorite, "money (that's what i want"... FIVE STARS.... totally Fab... forever..."
Beautiful gorgeous harmonies, amazing production, groovy, memorable. Only reason why it’s not a 10 is because of one song : Little Child, just very strange and bizarre lyrical content
If someone tells you they don't like the Beatles, don't trust them. That person is not your friend.
Classic!!
What else can be said?
Young talented musical geniuses about to take the world by storm and ultimately never forgotten
5 estrelas. Lado B de Beatles.
Perfect album for the day I saw McCartney perform.
Amazing
It’s the fucking Beatles
I mean, it’s The Beatles. Top Tracks - Please Mister Postman, Roll Over Beethoven, Money (That’s What I Want)
John Lennon is the best singer rock n roll ever had
Classic then, classic now...
fun early beatles stuff. i can’t believe how many albums they were pushing out in those years
A love letter to American music by the Beatles. Not a single miss
You sometimes forget the Beatles were a great 4 piece rock and roll band. Good stuff
Not my favorite Beatles era, but I suppose we had to include an early album and this is probably the best of those
Modern pop music starts here
I haven't listened to the early Beatles in a while, so this was fun. Lots of great tunes. One of my least favorite Beatles albums but still a 5/5 to me.
While what makes this album special for many is that they wrote the majority of the songs themselves, thus turning the music industry on its head, the consistence of high quality arrangements throughout should not go unnoticed. Rounding up because they were the Beatles of music.
Beatles
Great. Lovely lyrics.
Vintage Beatles. Starts off super strong and tails off slightly but it’s everything you want in an early 60s Beatles record. 4.5 stars really but I’ll stick down 5
Awesome!
My son is a big fan of The Beatles 🩶 we live this álbum!
The Beatles, well what can I say about them. It is a 5 for me, hands down. There were a few songs that I did not recognize from them but now I love them. Their songs are short, sweet and to the point. I can never see myself actually disliking listening to their songs. There is a reason why they are rated the number 1 band of all time.
4 or 5. Outstanding. Final verdict: 5.
it's a classic reminds me of my childhood when i would always listen to them
The first Beatles album in this list for me and, whilst not as good as albums that were yet to come, it’s still the Beatles. Feels wrong rating any of their stuff against anyone else because they were in a league of their own. By their standards this is probably a 4 star album as it’s half covers and only half original material but other bands can’t come close.
This record is very different to what I normally expect from The Beatles. This album has none of their most well known hits but it's still great.
❤️❤️❤️
No skips album. My grandparents saw this on tour, and I have a ticket to the show taped on the album cover of the albums vinyl.
Instant happiness!
Not my favorite Beatles record pre- Rubber Soul, I'd give that to Help, but I love this one. Starts off with a bang with the first three tracks, All My Loving especially is one of my favorite Beatles songs. Yes, no one's favorite Beatles song is The Devil In Her Heart, but the covers don't detract from what's so good about this album. It doesnt feature the insanely creative songwriting that Lennon/McCartney show off later (although theres damn good pop songs here), but With The Beatles demonstrates on every track how incredible the band's chemistry is. A showcase in melodies and harmonies, and just having fun playing together. It will never not blow my mind that four lads from one city in the UK got together and just played so well off each other from the getgo. Makes you want to believe in fate
OK, THIS is why the band is so well regarded. I always thought I enjoyed them, but didn't think them as anything super spectacular. This is something special, however!
2025-09-21: Happy-sounding music easy to get into in a short-duration form factor. I find it easy to give the album a 4, and I'll up it up a notch for fandom's sake, and because it might be worth it.
Good solid where it all started
Man there are some really cool songs on here. I wish they would’ve made more rock n roll.
The Fabs' second album shows that they weren't slowing down songwriting wise. They have a mix of pure adrenaline pop mixed with their more esoteric tastes (for that time) with their choice of covers (musical, girl groups, soul) and they pull it off barely breaking a sweat. Goddamn these boys are good - they're going places. Best Tracks: It Won't Be Long; All My Loving; You Really Got a Hold On Me
10/5 stars!
Very good tubes !
It's the Beatles. How can I rate them anything but five stars? These guys are the GOAT.
I’ve got nothing to add to the Beatles praise, only wondering why this average rating is so low. Y'all are crazy.
Putting these four goofballs together in one band is nothing short of miraculous. I often wonder if I'd rather have four really good bands - one for each Beatle - or just one Beatles. I always land on one Beatles but imagine what those four other bands could have done separately. That's a lot of great stuff.
Iconic
Any Beatles album is top notch in my book!
Oh I always love when I open the site and see a Beatles album. This is the only Beatles album on the list that has a significant amount of covers so I’m gonna start with those. “Till There Was You” is the best Beatles cover, Paul’s voice is gorgeous on it and that solo from George is great. I’ve never cared particularly for the covers of “Please Mister Postman” and “Roll Over Beethoven” but both are good. “You Really Got A Hold On Me” is pretty good, “Devil In Her Heart” is one of my favorite Beatles covers, it’s so good. “Money” is also a good cover. As for the originals: opening with “It Won’t Be Long” is genius, that song gets us energized and ready for a fun album. “All I’ve Got To Do” is beautiful and John’s vocals are amazing. “All My Loving” is one of the first songs I loved as a child, amazing track. “Don’t Bother Me” is George’s first song with the band, it’s pretty decent. “Little Child” is the only kinda bad song on the album, the tune is ok but those lyrics ruin it, most Beatles songs with questionable lyrics are catchy enough and musically interesting enough for the lyrics to be ignored, not this one. “Hold Me Tight” is pretty good. “I Wanna Be Your Man” is good. “Not A Second Time” is also good. Look, if I’m honest this album is the least essential Beatles album on the list, I’d argue “Please Please Me”, “Help!”, “Magical Mystery Tour”, and “Let It Be” are all more essential. But this album is also one of the most singularly fun albums in history. The vibe is consistently fun and enjoyable even in the worst moments. If I’m being honest this album is a 4/5 but The Beatles are the greatest of all time and I will be awarding this record a 5/5 on principle
Love this era of The Beatles! Great recommendation.
Rating: 4/5 One-line review: Basically the musical version of your first cool leather jacket: youthful, a little smug, but still timeless enough to borrow from forever. Highlights? “All My Loving” is still an uppercut of charm. “It Won’t Be Long” is a bop that sounds like the boys were trying to impress every girl at once. And “Till There Was You”? That’s Paul serenading your mom, respectfully.
Is there a world in which a Beatles album - any Beatles album - would not get 5 stars?
I know I'm biased on the beatles but this is a 5, good energy, harmonies, fun Ringo drums
And I described Prince as foundational music. This is it, this is at the center of who I am and who I have become musically. These first two Beatles albums are imprinted on me from as far back as I have memories. Watching the Let It Be documentary made all of their music that much more meaningful and even more fascinating. What a story. So grateful to have had this music moving through my life.
It’s the Beatles!!
I really wanted to hate on this one, but I just cannot do it
Another masterpiece from the Beatles! The Beatles get moody on the non-smiling album cover art of their second album, but you will be all smiles as you listen to yet another five star album from the lads!
Not their best, but still …
Wasn’t expecting to like it, but every song was great
I'm only 6 albums in on this list and I would be very surprised if not every Beatles album shows up. This was their second album in a year. Lots of covers but lots of original classics. The album photo is just as iconic and copied as the tunes inside.
Far better than I expected it to be. Of course I have listened to a ton of early Beatles - my mom had all these albums - and I enjoyed them when I heard them back in the day. However, I had forgotten how incredibly tight the band was and how much energy there was in their performances. John's vocals in particular on this record are impressive. Such a striking contrast between this record and the early Stones record we got a few weeks ago. This sounds great and that sounds like something me and my high school buddies would have recorded in Hairboy's garage. (Still not his real name.)
The Beatles are always brilliant, not my favourite album as I like the later albums better but there isn’t a song I would skip. The ultimate rock band
si
Such a great and iconic album. You forget how many songs The Beatles did you just listen to one album.
Classic!
❤️
Excelente, como todo de los 4 de Liverpool
Absolutely classic. The fearsome foursome as they call them(do they?). Roll over beehtoven is one of my favorites - obviously a massive play on Chuck - but later amplified by ELO. Is this the best beatles record? No. Some might say yes - but it's just always so cool to hear how they've progressed and push the envelope every damn album. And it all happens so fast. There's a Jim Morrison quote that i absolutely love - though it's a little sad when you break it down. But.. "I see myself as a huge fiery comet, a shooting star. Everyone stops, points up, and gasps, 'Oh, look at that!' Then—whoosh, and I'm gone... and they'll never see anything like it ever again—ever". And to me that's the Beatles - and obviously the doors too. Just this fiery comet that BURST onto the scene and absolutely CHANGED THE GAME. 5 stars forever
In the first phase of the Beatles, which goes up to Help inclusive, this is my 3rd favorite album.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Classic album. Always enjoyable listening to the Beatles.
Great
It will never cease to be anything less than mind-blowing to me that just three or four years after recording songs like Til There Was You and Please Mister Postman, they were coming out with Tomorrow Never Knows and I Am the Walrus. Literally everything they did was groundbreaking and brimming with that magical, larger-than-life quality, yet I’ve had socks for longer than the Beatles were together. They were incredible. And so were the Beatles.
Off the cuff remark: I'm no Beatles aficionado but I see this as when they were still "just" a great pop band, littered with (great) covers before their songwriting mastery is to the fore, but hinted at. Standout track(s): the two hints come in It Won't Be Long and All My Loving, wonderful gems amongst the gold. Revisit?: Undoubtedly. Having said all that I assume there won't be only one Beatles album in amongst this collection of albums. A strange choice if that is the case...
Old Beatles, can’t really go wrong.
One of their very best records.
