Reviews (page 8 of 12)
Chill
Reasonable album from the maestro
First half was great. The rest just didn't have the same strong evocative feelings that Stevie usually gives. I can see why this is the weakest of his classic period
great voice
Made my day
I think I liked the other Stevie wonder album a bit more as it had more funk this one was more mellow which was a perfect listen for a morning but got kind of repetitive when I wanted more energy through out the day
First Finale has all the 70s Stevie Wonder trappings you could possibly be looking for. Unfortunately, he pushes his voice in strange directions a lot in this album, leading to affectations that I found to be off-putting 🤷♂️. I also don't feel like this album pushes the envelope as much as its successor will. However, it does lean heavily into the sounds of the 70s, becoming a pretty amazing time capsule.
Stevie has a timeless voice, but this album was not as funky as I typically like and expect from him.
A surprisingly passive experience, despite the fact that it comes smack in the middle of Stevie’s imperial era. Maybe I need to listen again, but not a lot of this jumped out at me like the songs on Innervisions, Songs in the Key of Life, or Talking Book.
Mención especial a Please Don't Go.
Some very good songs but I prefer funkier Stevie.
Got a little behind with my reviews, been a few days since I’ve listened to this album. Doesn’t have any of Stevie’s big hits, but still a great listen.
Alright, I’m a little disappointed. ESPECIALLY because why the fuck did my work use to play “Boogie On Reggae Woman” like how the fuck do you find that song. Nothing worse than listening to an album and realizing a song plays at your work. Especially because the last 2 albums I listened to had songs from my work. Anyways, anger aside, this just doesn’t seem like Stevie’s strongest project in the classic period, especially coming off of “Innervisions.” I expected something revolutionary, since this album is included in his run of classics. And it was just… okay. There seems to be more groove on here, but also slower songs that are 100% karaoke staples, “Too Shy to Say” or “You Haven’t Done Nothing,” mind-numbing love songs. Then. There’s “They won’t go when I go.” Oh my GOD this is so annoying, repeating the title over and over and over, it's so bad I had to skip it. Even with the lows, “Smile Please” is an excellent opener, followed by “Heaven is 10 Zillion Light Years Away.” Which is so intriguing, it feels very proto-something, and I’m not sure what yet, but the synths are so liquidy. “Too Shy to Say”’s transition into “Boogie On Reggae Woman” flows incredibly well. Too bad I will not be listening to that song. But “Creepin’” and “Bird of Beauty” are such highlights. —— 5.5/10
I know and like some Stevie songs. None were on this album.
- It's okay listening, fairly easy - A bit slow with some of the songs
Tako jako
Not mind blowing but enjoyable
While I don’t like this album as much as some of the ther Stevie Wonder records on this list, it is a very solid record and really only pales when compared to something like Songs In the Key of Life
Mood: chill, soul.
Good stuff!
Some soulful joints to put you in a beautiful mood! Standouts: Boogie On Reggae Woman • You Haven't Done Nothin' • It Ain't No Use
Obviously the talent and songcraft on display are impressive. I just wasn’t especially moved by the interplay of the songs on the album as a whole.
I was hoping to rate this one a little higher. Obviously Stevie is a genius, and we are both from Michigan and he is still held in well-deserved high regard here. I feel like there's a better album here if it was resequenced. The front half felt VERY heavy with ballads and quieter songs, and it did pick up in the second half (which features my all-time favorite Stevie song, "You Haven't Done Nothin'"), but it felt uneven. Like, it wasn't a bad listen, and I would probably put it on again or even buy it if I came across it, but I was just hoping for more I guess.
That superstition synth rift still sounds so good in You haven’t done nothin
I’m on the whole not big on R&B. I prefer Stevie’s energetic music so opening song, “Smile Please” isn’t for me. He of course is excellent, just not my cup of tea. “Boogie on Reggae Woman” and “You Haven’t Done Nothin’” on the other hand, I enjoy. Horns on great on “You Haven’t Done Nothin’.” Gives it some extra zest. “Bird of Beauty” has an interesting sound. Piano on “They Won’t Go When I Go” is lovely. “Please Don’t Go” is a good end song.
Not my favorite of his, but still fine.
Stevie's catalog is one that I have been meaning to do a deep dive on one of these days but just haven't gotten around to it. In fact, there is a collection on my public Amazon wish list that says I added it in 2018. On first glance I do not recognize any of the song titles on this album, but with artists like Stevie I am always curious how much I will recognize without knowing the names. Even if it might just be from hip-hop samples. Well, I didn't recognize any of them, but I loved "They Won't Go When I Go." Quite a guest list on this album!
This was good and I enjoyed listening but no tracks stood out like sir duke or superstitious on previous albums on this list.
Amazing Stevie album, highlights were You haven’t Done Nothing & Boogie on Reggae Woman
I love Stevie Wonder, but this album didn’t really do it for me. It’s just okay.
Stevie Wonder's 70s albums are always great, but he has at least three to four other albums from the same era that are better than this one.
It was definetly nice to sleep to in a bus, but I dont really remember a lot because of that😅. Yeah, but i liked it.
never heard it before, despite the fact that it was released between sitkol and innervisions. wanted to like it more, but the ballads feel a lil weak for me. 3.5
Talented singer for sure. Heartfelt songs - depth in the lyrics for many songs. But not one I'd listen to over and over again. 3 starts.
On just sitä jammailua ja mustaa musaa mistä Wonderilta odotankin
Easy listening classic Stevie Wonder.
3.5
I really like his voice and I had a nice time listening but I'm not a huge synth fan. It felt to me like the synths didn't fit very well with the rest of the music, but that might just be my anti-synth bias. It was nice background music, but not something I'll listen to again. Fav song: You Haven't Done Nothin' Least fav: They Won't Go When I Go
I really love the faster more upbeat songs but I got bored during the slow ballads and found the ballad and synth combo weird. Favourite song: You Haven't Done Nothing Least: They Won't Go When I Go
ds
I liked the funkier songs more than the others, but otherwise a pretty solid album
It starts to boring. It is slow, and i like faster music. But its kinda chill. Im making a "chill" playliste and "smile please" has a spot on it. Simle please: 5,5/10, very chill, but a bit boring and long Heaven is 10 zillion Light years away: 6/10 Again very chill, but less boring and more happy, but its sooo long. Too shy to say: 3/10 very very boring, nothing really happens. I like the melodi, but the singing is simply to slow for me.
Really smooth tunes. Not easy listening, but easy to listen to.
This is as enjoyable as you would expect from prime Stevie Wonder of 70s. However, I just don't feel the same vibe as his other classic albums of this golden run, after couple of listens I can't recall any of the songs pretty much, so I am thinking 3 stars, at least 3.5 on RYM just for the quality, but it's missing something from me, perhaps needs to grow on me or sth
Stevie Wonder is obviously a great singer, and an extraordinary musician. The songwriting, though - it just doesn’t usually work for me, and that holds true here. It’s fine.
It's ok but I just can't get into it
This one was thinner than I remember. I might could get into it with more listens but Stevie has better albums.
Nice chill album. I really liked They Won't Go When I Go.
Fine, just not my thang
Pretty dang groovy. I feel like he has better albums but good.
Not bad, but I don't understand why this warrants inclusion with all the other Stevie Wonder albums here 3.5*
Liked it, easy listening.
Grand
I know Stevie Wonder is big, and widely considered as very innovative and interesting. I like his hits, but previous listens and the albums I've listened to for this confirm that he's just not for me. It's fine, but I find it pretty boring. I don't hate it, but would never choose to listen to it
Not his best, not even close to his best, it doesn't even really have any recognisable hits on it. Sometimes it was nice but generally pretty boring. I really like the second track though
As the saying goes, I would listen to him sing the phonebook. (This saying is severely aged, I know.) These songs are sweet; some are on the minor side.
2,5/5
*Solid soul/R&B album but no song blew me away
3.5
A good stevie album. Had some highlights, but a middle of the road album for me.
Im shy, and I love. But it's far away. And still we have a long way to go.
Ok stevie..., he can def sing, and he spoke like spanish on one song, why???, fav song is Boogie on reggae woman.
Man, there's some *great* stuff on here like Boogie On Reggae Woman, You Haven't Done Nothin, and Heaven is 10 Zillion Light Years Away. Unfortunately the rest of the album dragged a lot for me, way too syrupy and sentimental.
5/10 Nothing much to say really
It's not my vibe, but it's definitely good! 3.5
Fun songs, great production, classic Stevie wonder 🤷🏿♀️
This is probably the album from Stevie Wonder’s classic period with the least well-known hits. Given his other albums that are already on the list, it suffers by comparison and doesn’t seem to be necessary to include. It sounds like I hate this album, which could not be farther from the truth! It was a fun listen, and I’m a big fan of 1970s Stevie Wonder. 3⭐️
This was okay, not his best work.
Pleasant listen - all decent, no stand out tracks for me
Stevie Wonder is great as always, but this one seems to lack something.
This was a hard one. I really expected to adore it but I just didn't, somehow. This was released during Stevie's "Imperial" phase and maybe it reflects that era a little too well. Maybe some of the songs could have been edited a bit, although perhaps that would be contrary to the spirit of the times.
Not a huge fan of this but he's a talented dude for sure
A little disappointed. Not as upbeat as I expected
I expected to like this more. There were some highlights. I liked You Haven't done Nothin. Mostly it just didn't grab me.
This was groovy.
3.5/5 https://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/stevie-wonder/fulfillingness-first-finale/ Not as good as the album that would follow. Has some good tunes, but also, for my taste, a bit too much geneuzel. I did like the random Portuguese at Bird of Beauty.
its okay, quite boring at times best: too shy to say
very nice relaxing album
I didn’t like it
good old chill
Where is Stevie in my life! Just such a good vibe at all times.
Un 7/10, nu ma prind neaparat toate piesele da sunt foarte funky si too shy to say e chiar o melofie de dragoste frumoasa
easy listening funk
They Won't Go When I Go is terrific. The rest of the album is fine.
#902. If you put it on, I wouldn't complain. But I would never put it on, personally. 3/5: acceptable
Empezo muy bien pero decayó muchisimo. Heaven is 10 zillion light years away es un temazo.
Not a bad album. Musically it’s quite interesting, but it struggles lyrically at times. There’s not a huge hit in this album that I’m aware of, but there are several good songs. Notables include Heaven Is 10 Zillion Light Years Away, They Won’t Go When I Go, Smile Please, Too Shy To Say, Boogie On Reggae Woman, Creepin’.
In the context of Stevie Wonder's historic run of four albums -- Talking Book (1972) and Innervisions (1973) in the preceding couple years before this one and Songs in the Key of Life (1976) released a couple years later -- I'd say that this is the weakest of an incredibly strong batch. Start with one of the other three first.
I like Stevie Wonder, but this slower, more introspective album isn't my favourite of his. Stevie is at his best when he's bouncing around on upbeat tunes.
First funky half is better than the slower second half
Funky. Groovy. You Haven't Done Nothin' and It Ain't No Use stood out. 3.5/5
Bueno
I liked one song (heaven is a zillion lightyears..) enough to save it. There is definitely cohesion within the album but I see why this album of his specifically is not a favorite according to spotify.
practically everyone on here's got at least one musical opinion that would make me say "what the fuck are you talking about" so here's mine for many of you: i just can't do it with Stevie Wonder. i've tried! i've tried so many times, and it just slides right off me. the vocals are too smooth, instrumentals too cluttered, songwriting too simple. i'm rarely upset by his music, but i just don't feel it like so many others do. and so, like songs in the key of life and innervisions, which i'll return to for this project, i think this is a fine record, well played and well sung, clearly very deeply felt, that just doesn't excite me at all. was really hoping to be made a convert, and i guess there's still time, but i think he's just not my guy :((
What can I say, not my cup of tea. On the other hand, it didn’t make me go “oh, wtf is this, it insults my ears and my brain”. So overall it’s mid, I guess.
This album grew on me. Stevie’s vocals in Boogie on Raggae woman are unapologetically cool and effortless. Heaven is one of those powerful songs that could make anyone reconsider their faith to god. Listening to this album at the end of the day and really taking in the rhythms, lawlessness of Stevie’s voice and all the beautiful harmonising bumped it up
I much more enjoyed the tunes that turned up the funk. I wish there were more. Favorite track: Boogie On Reggae Woman
Never thought I would be listening to an entire album by Stevie Wonder, but here we are. I liked a few songs, but a lot of it was cringe.
This era of Stevies music is most familiar to me, but somehow I've not really listened to this album. The tracks feel familiar and I'm not certain if this is because I've heard the tracks or if they're just so much "in his style". This is not music that gets me pumped up, but also something I don't mind listening to. Quality entertainment.
Stark 3a.
Good but not his best
Glad I listened, wouldn’t return to it.
Not my favorite Stevie Wonder album but still amazing of course
Prefer the funky to the slow and sleepy ones. Faves were Haven’t Done Nothin’ and Boogie.
3/18/26 - listened while driving. I liked it and it was a vibe. Some songs didn't hit me as much as others but seems like it would be good background music during Golden Hour or relaxing on the deck. Probably a 3.5 or so but will round down based on my rules. Top Song - Smile Please
100. special 100th beautiful
I enjoyed the more funky songs. I didn't enjoy the other ones so much but I'm happy to have listened to this album.
Stunningly average. He has a spectacular voice but the songwriting leaves a lot to be desired.
Day 216 Highlights Boogie on Reggae Woman You haven’t done nothin’
Prequel to the masterpiece
ок
Everything I've come to like about 70s music. Solid grooves and just an easy relaxing listen
Not the best Stevie album. It gets a lower rating because I'm comparing it to his other albums rather than every album on the list. 3.5
ganz gut, aber das andere war besser.
Solid, but not my style
Vad ska man säga, han är the one and only i sitt slag.
I was excited to hear this as I am a fan of a lot of Stevie’s other work. I found that only the middle section of the album was what I was hoping for, the rest felt a tad lacklustre and, at times, preachy. I guess anyone will start to run out of ideas after 17 albums…shame.
Sorry Stevie. Not your best.
Enjoyed it! Not as great as some other Stevie albums
We were listening to this album last night and my partner said, “How can anyone hate Stevie Wonder’s music?” Sure, his music might not deeply resonate with everyone, but he makes objectively beautiful music. Until this project, Wonder had always been background music for me, but after some deeper listens of some of his albums, I’ve become a fan. All that said, my personal Wonder preference are his funkier tunes such as “Boogie on Reggae Woman” or “You haven’t done Nothing” (cool Jackson 5 cameo on the last one). Personal preference, but apparently, I’m not alone as these were the two hits from this record. Getting back to my first point, that isn’t to say I dislike his more soulful tunes, that shit is beautiful. Once I realized that Fullfilingness’ First Finale was a soul record, I was better able to settle into the warmer material on the record. This is a record that requires a willingness to just float along. For me, this requires a specific mood and place. FFF is not Wonder’s most innovative album, he seems to be playing things safely. However, its popularity did demonstrate to him and others that there was still a place for slower, more soulful material in pop music. Bold with respect to commercial risk, if not musical innovation. Maybe I need to spend more time with it, but this wasn’t my favorite Wonder album. However, getting back to my first point, that doesn’t mean that it isn’t a great record. Also, I’ll always give him bonus points because his albums are mostly the work of one man.
Not too bad
This isn't typically the kind of music I listen to, but I was surprised to hear how modern this album sounds. Some of these songs feel like they could've been released today, and its clear how much Stevie Wonder has influenced so many current artists. Anyways, I'm glad I got to hear this, but we'll see how much I revisit it. Favorites: Heaven Is 10 Zillion Light Years Away, They Won't Go When I Go, Please Don't Go
OK.
*1974. *Nice soul, pop music. Very listenable - soothing and pleasant. *Nothing exciting here though. RATING - 6.5/10
A surprising ly mild entry from Stevie's Imperial Period. Solid songs and production, but outshined by his other period work
Listen to this album and Smile Please.
I'll say right off the bat that this Stevie Wonder album is not as strong as the others one I've heard. This being said, his vocals are always on point. The music is always phenomenal. Lyrically, always so strong and meaningful. There just wasn't much of that excitement I usually get listening to Stevie Wonder with these tracks. This album made me smile, but most of the songs didn't really stick out to (or stick with me) in the moment. You Haven't Done Nothin' is the exception to this. I wish that there were just a couple more tracks like that one sprinkled in to break up some of the more soft tracks. The synth is also just a bit off to me on a couple tracks. Overall, I thought that this was a fun listen, but, with the exception of one track, I don't picture myself revisiting it. I hope to get another Stevie Wonder album because putting anything of his below a 4 breaks my heart!
Not my jam. None of the songs have stuck with me
Another solid album from Stevie. Sometimes I do question why multiple albums from an artist show up on this list if they aren’t different in style, sound, or instrumentation in any way.
How do you follow Innervisions? I mean, you can't, right? And how do you stay relevant and keep making important music on album 17?? That's insane. So, I can forgive FFF for being a little thin in the songwriting department. Stevie's vocals and Clav playing are still unassailable, but his drumming betrays him on a good number of songs. Imagine a Jim Gordon or Pretty Purdie on a track like "Heaven Is 10 Zillion..." instead of Stevie's stiff shuffle. That would be an entirely different story. Still, there's enough cool sonic stuff and ambitious jazzy changes to make it worth your time. Even middling Stevie Wonder is better than the mean. And we even get the great James Jamerson on "Too Shy to Say." Can't be mad at that. top track: "You Haven't Done Nothin'"
Soulful but plodding, fairly boring overall. Needs more jammin' on tha one. Not my favorite Stevie. 3/3.5 ⭐️
I quite like a few definitely not a bad album
Debería escucharlo un poco más. Justo cuando sonaba "They Won't Go When I Go", estaba caminando con mucha gente alrededor que, al igual que yo, iba a trabajar. Me sentí ganado.
I thought this was pretty good, but I don’t think it stands out compared to some of his best work. There were some grooves and interesting instrumentals, but overall it’s probably an album of his that I would overlook if I’m trying to listen to some Stevie Wonder.
I feel like there are better Stevie Wonder albums.
Not for me. Very funky and smooth.
really nice
Smile Please: Bum bum bum baby bummmmm... I like it! Reggae vibes. Drags a little tho Heaven is a zillion miles away: I like the title lol love an unnecessarily long title. somehow I was caught off guard by the religious overtones despite the name. Love the background yells Too Shy to Say: a sweet love song; also drags a bit to me Boogie on reggae woman: naughty! Then *harmonica interlude* one of the album singles apparently- that tracks Creepin' was moody and dark, I liked it! You Haven't Done Nothin' is a criticism of Nixon's administration apparently, and honestly a banger. Also- the Jackson 5 doing the doo de wop! It ain't no use: doomed love with a bye bye bye chorus... not really my jam but does what it sets out to do They won't go when I go: big funeral dirge vibes. Cool sound but not my fave Bird of beauty outside my wheelhouse lol Ending with "Please Don't Go" is nice creative choice
He’s got a lovely voice and he’s a lovely man and he’s done loads for music and it is good! It’s definitely good! Just maybe not for me. (Please don’t disown me my entire family)
Not coming back to this
Soulful
I don't want to be a hater, and I have friends who really love Stevie Wonder. I see the talent, obviously. But it's just kinda boring to me, idk. I guess this sort of funk just isn't really my thing.
Of the three Stevie Wonder albums I've listened to so far, this is my least favorite, relatively speaking. Not to say it was bad album, just not as good as the others. I liked "Boogie On Reggae Woman" and "You Haven't Done Nothin'" but the other songs didn't stand out.
Super interessante, quase um 4/5.
Not as many “big ones” on here as some of his albums but still a pretty solid effort from one the masters!
Good! Fine! Stevie Wonder!
It's fine but so not my vibe
Vähän Johnny Winter vibaa jossain ja Please Don't Go ois hyvä aamusvengibiisi!
Beautiful music from a soulful, jazzy man. Very young, very upbeat but also sad
This was my first eye-opener on this list. I don't know much about Stevie Wonder and I won't pretend to know that I do. However it is clear to me that once he got to a certain point of popularity "they" must have told him to stay in a particular lane because this seems far removed from the vibe of a guy I knew growing up.
Heard
really nice. calm yet upbeat. the kind of song when you want to stay laidback but keep a positive mind.
i like it but i don’t love it
Yup
Can’t really see what all of the fuss is about. Found it pretty bland and unmemorable and not the sort of thing I’d be putting on an home for my general listening pleasure.
There are some really good songs on this album, but at the same time I have realised that I am not a big Stevie Wonder fan. I cannot fault his songwriting and singing though, so on that alone he gets an above average score. It is not something I will personally listen to again but it is a solid album. 3.5 stars
Stevie Wonder is obsessed with sinning and saying goodbye to some ladies. Boogie on Reggae Woman is a jam. Heaven is 10 Zillion Light years away is a catchy song but it’s about God or Jesus, I think.
Honestly can tell why I’m not as familiar with this album as say Songs in the Key of Life or Innervisions. “Boogie on Reggae Woman” is a banger, and I liked “Creepin’” but “You Haven’t Done Nothin’” sounds like a “Superstition” outtake. I liked “Please Don’t Go” but something about the cymbals was like nails on chalkboard

Funky. Some interesting instrumental inventions (see Bookie on Reggae Woman). Singing by Stevie is the core.
Best Song: Boogie On Reggae Woman. Something about the way he articulates things in this song is absolutely perfect. Worst Song: They Won't Go When I Go. Stevie Wonder is capable of such fun, upbeat music, that I always find myself disappointed when he does these slow, hymnal songs. Overall: Not his best, not his worst, and in the end it's still Stevie Wonder. I wouldn't be disappointed to hear someone put this album on, but I would wonder why they didn't choose one of his better offerings.
Having really enjoyed Songs in the Key of Life I had quite high expectations for this, but it didn’t really meet them. It’s a good enough listen, but didn’t hold my attention in the same way that album did.
This initially left me somewhat cold, but it won me over more after a second listen. Perhaps I was comparing it too much to ‘Songs in the Key of Life’, and honestly I do think it's quite a bit weaker. One reason for that is that this album is pretty ballad-heavy, and I’m generally more a fan of Stevie’s funkier numbers. The ballads and softer tracks weren’t bad though, just not as much to my taste. ‘Smile Please’, ‘Boogie On Reggae Woman’, ‘You Haven't Done Nothin’’ and ‘Please Don't Go’ were my highlights. Close to 4 stars but not quite.
окееей я чула пісню they won't go when I go тільки у виконанні Джорджа Майкла, не знала що оригінал Стіві Вандера.
Smooth easy listening
***a good, easy listening album
Far from his best
i liked this more than talking book. some really groovy and soulful stuff in here. it just hits better. really enjoyed Smile Please, Boogie on Reggae Woman, It Ain't No USe and Please Don't Go. 7/10
I shouldn't have looked up why he's a piece of shit before listening. Genuinely tarnished my view of the music
First i wanna write about the album cover it's beautiful and I really like it. The piano key stairs and the art looks very cheerful. I like the sound of the album, it's really different from the music i listen to which is modern. What i enjoyed about the album is that it has variety of songs, some are upbeat makes you want to dance and other songs are slower and I think that Wonder sounds really good on the slower and romantic vibe songs. I liked hearing the bass guitar and harmonica sounds on the songs. I think that was my favorite part of the album, hearing the unique and catchy melodies.
Return of the farty bass tones.
I liked this - the other albums of him I've listened to (Songs in the Key of Life and Innervisions) are better but I enjoyed this.
Will have to do a re-listen today, but I think I could learn to enjoys some of the songs
I can't believe I'm saying this... but this is a bit... boring? I mean don't get me wrong, it's still prime Stevie, it's still good. But it's nowhere near the heights of Innervisions, for example.
I love Stevie Wonder, but this album is not my favorite. It has a some fun upbeat songs that have the Soul feel I like, but also a lot lyrical things that don't interest me so much.
Favorite Track: They Won't Go When I Go
A good album, but it isn't the best from Stevie Wonder
Not my style but ok
Instinctively didn’t quite like this as much as some of the other Stevie Wonder. Rounded down, to compare with those ones rather than with the list as a whole.
This was enjoyable, however, talking book was something else!
Not unlike soft rock or easy listening. Some good stuff, some snoozy stuff. Fun listen, even if it doesn't have a standout track like 'Sir Duke' on it.
pretty
2 and a half
Smoooooth 3.5
Riding a fine line between chill and boring.
Some enjoyable tunes but nothing really stands out from the rest, an easy listen though
Good
Again was pleasantly surprised by Stevie Wonder
Didn't enjoy this as much as the previous Stevie album but it was fun.
Good
Diary: It's a calm Sunday that I spent stressing out about my opportunities in life. Our heating is still broken and nothing really works the way it should. Stevie Wonder is repetetively represented in my playlists, I have heard many of his top tracks. This classic album of his is very different to me in comparison, but I truly enjoy the calmness and vibe it brings to me. 3.8/5
Alright
Ci sta dai stevie
This was a difficult album to rate. Stevie Wonder was an incredibly talented artist, and this album was consistently solid—both lyrically and musically. At the same time, there was very little about this album that properly stood out to me. Heaven is 10 Zillion Light Years Away, and They Won't Go When I Go are my favourite tracks on the project, but they do not reach the heights that other albums on this list (including other Stevie Wonder albums) do.
Very relaxing, but not my typical music genre
Love him, but this isn’t my fav album of his
This was good, but I want to like it more. I like the album most when Stevie commits fully to a certain mood or idea especially tracks like Heaven is 10 Zillion Light Years Away, and They Won’t Go When I Ho. A lot of the groove-based songs are nice but emotionally don’t move me much, which is why the album as a whole doesn’t stick, even though I respect it.
There were certainly high points in this album, but I think it's going to be rated higher than it should be because it's *Stevie Wonder*
it is sort of old music for me , but its good to listen when u need some calm in your life
Loved the whole sound of the album!
This dude has so many albums. I'd never heard of this one.
Decent Stevie but not superb. Solid 3.5
Dude is a prodigy to produce this music whilst blind. That said I preferred Innervisions. 3/5.
Always nice
Was expecting a little more. 3.5/5
This is the third Stevie Wonder album I've rated 3/5. :/ It's not intentional, I like the luscious arrangements and the lovely backing vocals, but it seems to never be enough for me to pull of a 4/5. I really adore the song "Heaven Is..." a lot, it sounds like a song I have already heard before, but I can't quite put my finger on it. Highlight Song/s: "Heaven Is 10 Zillon Light Years Away"
Haven’t quite developed the ear for this yet but I enjoyed the production and variety of instruments (that harmonica) also really enjoyed the Sergio Mendes on Bird of beauty
Not as good as songs in the key of life but still Stevie
For Stevie Wonder, this is not my favorite album. There are others I would have chosen first. I liked maybe three songs total.
Listened to half and was cool
It was for fire and very nice to listen to
I like Boogie on Reggae Woman
Slower pace than other Stevie albums
3.4/5 This was a nice enough listen but didn't feel any spark.
Another good one by Stevie.
meh.
An album of pleasant vibes and authentic lyricism that provides ample food for thought. While the melodic journey can feel somewhat repetitive for a spirit that craves constant change, the moments of soulful introspection and sharp social commentary offer a fulfilling listening experience. A solid and thought-provoking entry in the Stevie Wonder catalog. ★★★☆☆
Erster Eindruck: Stimme weg und plötzlich lofi Lieblingssong: "Creepin" (Lieblingszeile): "We still are young and both of us have time to find our winter love in spring" Overall Rating: 6/10 Anmerkungen: Ich würde jetzt vielleicht gerne bekifft den Sonnenuntergang anschauen Reggae war noch nie so richtig meine Musik, aber kann man mal machen
Non amo
So nearly a 4, some great songs but just don’t think I’ll revisit as a whole album… Which makes me think some of my previous 3s should be 2s and some of my 2s should be 1s. It’s really hard to rate 1001 albums and have a consistent rating system. Love you Steven Wonderful and looking forward to giving you a 5 stars at some point
This is my first album from Wonder. Pretty surprised i became a fan for his sophisticated writing and expression of his emotions. I really felt it at "Too Shy To Say". Although Soul, and jazz pop genre are not my usual listens, Stevie Wonder left me mesmerized with his mellow arrangements. This album is for those who enjoys soul but if you're expecting high energy funky vibes, I think you'll be left understated. 6/10 album.
Not my favorite genre of music, but I did appreciate the classic soul feel the album has. With multiple listens, I could see myself adding one or two song to my every day playlist.
This is a good album. The older I get, though, the less tolerance I have for things that sound like “adult contemporary” (aka yacht rock) music…so, yeah. I feel bad about saying that, but I guess I gotta speak my truth?
I'll tell you what, a little bit higher hopes heading into it because I really enjoy Stevie Wonder, but this was kind of disappointing. Don't get me wrong, the funkiness and sultry voice are all there, but by the end of it much of the album seemed to be fairly ubiquitous and less as exciting as some of his other entries. I'm not sure the history of this album but could be him starting to venture more away from his Motown vibe to how we know him today, but what do I know
Eerste keer dat ik het hoor. Klinkt prima. Simpele drum. 6.2
was not really my style but the songs that really stood out were They won’t go when I go and Creepin’.
Good to listen to in background
Started like elevator music. Favourite track: Boogie on Reggae Woman
Enjoyable listen, though, admittedly, it was more background music as I was cooking with kid’s assistance so was not as attentive to lyrics/sound as I would have liked.
Mouaiiiiis
Great. Sweet, good songs with a lot of heart
I wasn’t paying 100% attention because I was shopping, but I liked Boogie On Reggae Woman, Bird of Beauty, and Please Don’t Go best (I think)
It’s very difficult to go wrong with any sort of Stevie Wonder. I hadn’t heard any of this one before and it had some great moments, but I don’t feel like any tracks stand out, or raise it beyond an enjoyable but standard listen.
pretty
First listen
Good! Not his best!
This was easy listening but Stevie is easy listening. I wasn’t too impressed by the aalbum. It was very middle of the road
I like Little Stevie, had not listened to this album though. There were a couple cuts I recognized, but nice to hear the entire album. Thanks for that opportunity.
Decent album ,Creepin‘s melody really stuck with me
I had higher expectations for this album tbh. Maybe I wasn’t in the right mood for it as well. For me it’s just average 2.5/5
Nothing too wow for me, not his best album either imo but good nonetheless, chill for a slow morning.
A very good, relaxing album that reminds me of summer. I would definitely listen again. 7/10, but it's a bit too calm for my taste.
really liked heaven is 10 zillion light years away
A fun album but not one I can see myself going back to! Highlight: Heaven Is 10 Zillion Light Years Away
Stevie Wonder is always a vibe. This wasn't quite as bouncy as the songs I like of his, but definitely a great album regardless.
Solid record.
Album number 4 in the five album run of quality that Wonder produced in the 70's. It is as expected. Flashes of pure unadulterated genius interspersed with cloying cheese. Is it the strongest one out of the 5? Nope. Is it still good? Yes. Best Tracks: Boogie on Reggae Woman; You Haven't Done Nothin'; Please Don't Go
Super
Good, easy listening.
I think one of the most devastating moments of my life was learning that a majority of Stevie Wonder’s songs aren’t cool and fun like Superstitious but incredibly lame and boring
I mean, it’s Stevie Wonder. He’s a legend. There are a few standouts for me (Boogie On Reggae Woman, You Haven’t Done Nothin’, which makes me think of Mardi Gras, and They Won’t Go When I Go), but some were kind of sleepy and repetitive for me. I think I just wasn’t in the proper mood, though, because of course his work is brilliant. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
💛
I didn’t take to this as immediately as I generally have to Stevie Wonder. It felt a little too electronic for my taste, which is funny knowing it came out right after Innervisions.
Love it!
pretty good, a bit too gospel at times for my taste
I always enjoy Stevie Wonder songs, but I never think to listen - I never choose an album to put on. This was a nice excuse. So much talent and such upbeat songs.
Not something I'll listen to again, but very listenable.
A little underwhelming. I can imagine this was amazing when it first came out, but it falls kind of flat for me. Still great, just not as groundbreaking as I thought it would be. 6/10.
Surprisingly mediocre, especially some of the ballads. Obviously Boogie on Reggae Woman is great and I enjoyed You haven’t done nothing and They will go when I go. Take or leave the rest.
There are 4 Stevie Wonder records on the list and this one has no hits on it. Its fine but certainly not part of the canon.
3.5/5
Enjoyable. ★★★
I wasn't as keen on this as I had hoped. There were some very cool, funky songs at the end. The start I found underwhelming.
Incredible instrumentation, but nothing that sticks in your mind forever. His catchiness improved.
Stevie Wonder does Stevie Wonder things, it's good but being the album between Innervisions and Songs in the Key of Life must suck.
Enjoyed this.
Would give it a 3.5. Not my favorite of his albums but still good.
In The Key Of Life".
Despite sounding a little corny and easy-listening adjacent, the vibe won me over. This is a chill album.
Some good songs. Worth listening to and keeping
Album review 007 Fullfillingness’ First Finale by Stevie Wonder (1974) Rating 3/5 Most reviews of this album will talk about how Stevie Wonder’s run of five albums between 1972’s Music of My Mind and 1976’s Songs in the Key of Life is one of the greatest purple patches of any artist, and Fullfillingness’… is the oft overlooked and neglected sibling to the other albums in this run. Listening to this objectively though, I don’t find it to be a truly great album with great songs; it’s more of a ok album with some good songs, and doesn’t stand up to the quality of Stevie Wonder’s other albums of this period.
Hún náði mér ekki þessi
Ég fíla Stevie Wonder. Sum lög eru með þeim bestu í heiminum. Engin þeirra voru hér :( Tvær stjörnur væri samt of hart.
I like it. I've listened to a few Stevie Wonder albums and have not been gripped by any of them. This one is pretty easy to listen to. Good beats, great singing, good variety of styles. Showcases his abilities as a singer and also a bandleader.
This was a fine album, but Stevie has better ones
Nice and mellow. The gospel influence of They Won't Go When I Go is really cool.
i have nothing to say about this. 3/5
