Boring.

bleurgh. just want hotel california😩 so close to giving this a 1 😡😡😡

per the dude...

Never understood why people like the Eagles. Not for me.

I like some of the hits and more rocky tracks, but a lot of the record is too country for me.

Schmaltzy and forgettable

Only like their hits

Bom disco, mas não chega a impressionar. Os banjos, que aparecem de vez em quando, são lindos. Joe Walsh fez falta, aqui, mas só chegaria anos depois no Eagles. Canção preferida: "Take the Devil".

it's ok. not something i would ever listen to otherwise though

The Big Lebowski quote is funny but exaggerated: the Eagles' debut is forgettable but not horrible. The best tracks are at the end, almost tricking you into liking it. But it's paint-by-numbers, and the whistling fails to jazz things up. The band's definitely better with this instrumentation than not, but they desperately needed to drop the melodrama. Higher lows and lower highs than Hotel California; Better project but not by a lot.

Pseudo country rock from th’eagles

dadya govno dobro slav dobro lyb

i'd rather hear a don henley album

I hate the fucking Eagles, man

So boring. People confuse nostalgia with quality.

I hate the fucking eagles, man

I grew up hearing the singles on the radio all the time and can’t stand them. The rest of the album isn’t any better. I really don’t like the country sounding ones.

From the Apple Music write up of this album: [Bernie] Leadon [credited with vocals, guitar, and banjo on this album], reflecting decades later [on the success of the album], believed it was because the band offered hope after the dark 1960s: “I really think that part of the reason that the Eagles succeeded the way they did was because the country and people and young people needed to feel like things were OK.” There are generous and less generous interpretations of that statement, but given the light country-rock of the album, I can’t understand it as anything but reactionary, that the Eagles would rather have nothing to do with the “darkness” of civil rights, women’s liberation, the anti-Vietnam war movement, the emergence of countercultures, etc. Of course this reaction doesn’t stop them from sexually desiring hippie women on songs like “Witchy Woman”. Which somehow, almost inexplicably, is still less cringeworthy than “Chug All Night”. An absolute atrocity of an album.

Awful.

Mojo Nixon was right

The eagles are The Grateful Dead for people who have jobs and shower.

The Eagles (band only, not the team, GO BIRDS!) are sellouts! The Dude had it right. Fuck the Eagles. CCR all the way!

I had a rough night and I hate the fuckin' Eagles, man! c

I hate the fucking eagles, man...

Come on man, I hate the fuckin Eagles!

I have established precedent of giving an Eagles album one star for each bop on it. In this case there is one (Take It Easy). So, one star it is!

Boooooooo Fuck off Don Henley* *Take The Devil and Tryin' were find

I put this album on. It played. It finished. I did some admin, but at no point did it offer anything to explain why it’s on this list. Yes, some lovely harmonies at points, and a very capable bunch of musicians, but, and this is the thing, it feels manufactured, and that there’s no heart to it. The production doesn’t feel coherent from one song to the next, and lacks a sense of authenticity which follows through to the lyrics which are frequently cliched, or worse, insincere. It doesn’t feel like the product of a band who honed their skills gigging and building a sound. It doesn’t sound like the debut of a band trying to prove themselves, more it sounds like the debut of a band who were into shifting units more than expressing their art. So it’s not a case of “I hate the fucking Eagles, man” because there’s really nothing to hate. There’s nothing to give a fuck about. And that’s worse.

most overrated band of all time, fuck these guys Will I listen to again: 0%

Track 1 - Take It Easy Ah it's the Winslow Arizona song, really like the backing vocals, really like this one, banjo fits if a bit cliché Track 2 - Witchy Woman Bit boring, like the guitar solo, not aged brilliantly Track 3 - Chug All Night Really like Glenn's vocals on this, quite like the 'vibe', subtle references to death, feels pretty standard Track 4 - Most of Us Are Sad Not really subtle, drags on, I like the message and see what they're going for, feels really disingenuous after 'Chug All Night' Track 5 - Nightingale Felt like a chore to listen to, the 'ooos' get pretty annoying, unimaginative, cool bit of bass about 3 mins in, most excitement I felt throughout Track 6 - Train Leaves Here This Morning Quite like the harmonies, once again putting me to sleep a bit, simple as it gets Track 7 - Take the Devil I like the instrumentals, not too keen on the vocals or the lyrics, outro feels too long Track 8 - what the fuck is this intro please shut that bird up it sounds like a car alarm, I quite like the ,rest of this one, cool themes and lyrics, doesn't overstay its welcome, best drums on the album, why is the bird back Track 9 - Peaceful Easy Feeling More love, nice vocals, dull lyrics, dull instrumentals, I literally yawned during this Track 10 - Tryin' Not much to write home about, once again not brill vocals Eagles self titled album released in 1972 is soulless and drab. I had hopes after quite a first track but those quickly dwindled as the album felt quite simple in themes and instrumentals. For an album so focused on freedom as a core aspect it feels like they refused to really experiment. It is a shame because there are moments of greatness particularly in the harmonies, drums and bass. The best way I can describe this album is cookie cutter. 2/10

I thought the Eagles were ok man. But this album is just shit. Not exactly a great album cover. In fact, its also shit. After listening to this, I'm with the dude; I fucking hate the Eagles.

Juvenile lyrics and a deaf banjo player who seemed to forget he was pt of a band.

So hits on here but even those I can't stand because they've been overplayed. Also my resposibility to hate on the Eagles in all ways possible

Cheese rock. Hyper-produced, hyper-processed to be so perfect it’s devoid of any soul. There was a brief moment where memories of childhood car journeys being brought back by the singles (dad had the greatest hits compilation that everyone has) might have earned it a second star for sentimental reasons, but any lingering goodwill was destroyed by Earlybird.

This sucks I hate to go along with the sort of hipster music critic, consensus about eagles, but it’s just soulless and too perfect I just can’t with this stuff

Vapid, soulless dreck.

The Eagles accomplish a rare feat on their debut. Despite being among the early figures in L.A. country-rock, they somehow managed to create its most generic iteration right out of the gate. Chapeau. You’ve got to give it to them. While not everything here is actually bad (if you’re under the impression that the “better” parts sound a lot like Jackson Browne, it’s because he (co-)wrote two songs and seemingly was a strong influence), all in all it’s just boilerplate, utterly boring songwriting and downright awful lyrics. A well-deserved 1.

So bland and devoid of any feeling, it actually made me angry.

Come on man! I had a rough night and I FUCKING HATE THE EAGLES MAN!

Better than Eminem, at least

"Man, come on. I had a rough night and I hate the fuckin' Eagles, man!"

Californian ezy-rock my least favourite musical form!

I see everyone else has made the Lebowski joke, so I'll leave it this time. But I find this to be terribly bland.

like poison to me

Fuck the Eagles.

Ooof. I don’t think I can do it. I’ve pretty much loathed the Eagles for as long as I can remember. Can’t say exactly why either. I’ve heard a ton of their songs over the years, and I can’t get to a place where I can enjoy them. I think Joe Walsh is a great player, some of their riffs are crazy memorable, the band is obviously talented, but I don’t like them at all. I even know the lyrics to a lot of their songs. I don’t really mind when other bands cover their stuff. But, they do nothing for me. But I’m a sport, and I’ll see how far I can get. First, the positives: I kinda like the lead guitars. The rest of it is a slog. The lyrics are mostly inane. I hate the breezy country hippie vibes. I’m normally a sucker for harmonies, but theirs are grating on me. I feel anger, and I don’t know why. Don Henley bugs me. 1.4—rounding down, obviously. Nothing has changed for me in my opinions about the Eagles by having listened to more of this than I thought I’d be able to. Still, I’ll listen to this before I touch Destiny’s Child’s “Survivor” again. I hate the Eagles, but I can at least respect them.

I’ve already listened to an Eagles album on here and didn’t think much of it. This is no different. So, so, so beige and pedestrian.

These guys suck

Um dos sete círculos do inferno do dad rock

not dumpster fire but its getting there

I’m trying not to let the sound of the Eagles drive me crazy.

muy aburrido

Oh, for the love of God, please shut the fuck up. ⭐1/2

It’s a cliché to say you hate the Eagles, but I hate the Eagles

hate the fuckin eagles man

Making me listen to Hotel California was bad enough, but making me listen to a second one? Eurgh. I fucking hate The Eagles, man.

Went into it expecting a forgettable album with a few good tracks. After 3 listens trying to find a track to save to the playlist, i'm not sure I want to hear this ever again... 1.5

I don't like this song because it's too much country. I would not recommend this song I didn't like the song because it was sad

da 1st song is not cool its bad the second song started off weird the voice is alr the last song is okay the background music is good

not m style.

Most of us are sad 🤮🤮.

I've tried to like the Eagles numerous times but I find them boring. Joe Walsh's solo stuff is fun though

Album - Eagles Band - The Eagles Release - 1972 Genre - Country Rock/Folk Rock/Rock and Roll Heard it before? - N Heard OF it before? - Y Another one I couldn't finish. Just as the album art and logo would have you believe, it's boring country rock. Given the benefit of the doubt, it's not mindless. Of course "Take it Easy" is the only thing to salvage from this album. But other than that, I just can't see this being a "required listen" from people who weren't there or didn't grow up with it. I am starting to learn that this list is really incoherent and doesn't always catalog the albums that have properly stood the test of time and are actually worth hearing before you die. 1/10

Take it Easy really brings me back to being a kid. My parents loved the eagles, and I did too as a kid. I still like this one. Witchy Woman sucks. The rest of this is just so milquetoast - they need to lean into the folky/softer side more or lean into the rock side more but they try to find the middle and it just doesn't work. except to maybe sell a billion records to normies.

i hate the fucking eagles

Soft as a down pillow and smooth as all get out, this is not for me.

I find it fascinating that the one song on here that isn't abhorrent is "Take It Easy" and that's the one that Jackson Browne had already been working on and Glenn Frey helped finish. The song writing overall really feels like amateur hour - lots of trite, sentimental crap. Some of it was so bad I laughed out loud in the car. Now, I'll give them credit for the vocals. The blend of voices really does sound good. That's the one positive thing I'll take away from this album. But it's not enough to get me to give this one a good rating. I know it's the Eagles, some folks really love them and I just can't stand them. Overrated band, overrated genre.

Before: Jeez, the downers just keep on coming this week. Maybe this album will be better than I remember. After: Just a couple songs that I kinda like just because I have heard them a million times throughout my life (but would absolutely never choose to listen to myself) and a couple of snooze fest soft "country" rock.

Oh. No thanks. I'm with the dude on this one.

Really not into the 1970s California sound and production - and this Band is probably the epitome of that era...

This list's bias towards UK/US, male classic rock from 60s/70s really starting to show. Feel like this is taking the place of a much more interesting album from the past 25 years. Eagles get a lot of criticism for being bland/middle-of-the road. I don't think that's entirely fair - sometimes they can be truly awful too. Case in point... "I believe we could chug all night I believe we could hug all night The band is loose and the groove is right You're so much woman I believe we could chug all night"

Err, no not for me I’m afraid. Wouldn’t dispute their global success over the years…a band that can sell out a Vegas venue in 2024 on successive nights after over 50 years in the business suggests that they’ve done something right. I must admit I have got and do like the MTV live version of Hotel California though- just for the crowd reaction to it alone does make it a great listen. But a listen of this album in its entirety is a little bit much for me.

Awful, bland, soulless.

0/5. I hate The Eagles.

fuck the eagles

Gear: DCA ÆON 2 Noire Artwork: 🦅🌵🏜️ Mix (2013 Remaster): 😲🙂👌 Musik: 🎳🧔👎 Wertung: 🦅/5

Boring. So boring

ive never been an eagles fan but listening to this album has helped me to appreciate how much they really do suck

I really hate the fuckin' Eagles.

One of my least favorite American bands. And this album helps prove my point for me.

Not my thing.

The greatest album of all time...according to your uncle who calls waitstaff Honey.

One minute into Take It Easy and I'm wondering if this album qualifies as yacht rock. I'm trying not to let The Dude's opinion of the Eagles impact my evaluation, but all I can think is that I hate the fucking Eagles, man! This is like a weird middle ground between lite rock and pop-rock. I think you either love the Eagles or hate the Eagles...there doesn't seem like a lot of middle ground. I think of Don Henley's solo career being the definition of "adult rock" but his music isn't any different than this. Witchy Woman is like they listened to Santana's Black Magic Woman and he wouldn't let them cover it so they wrote their own terrible song. The Eagles begat Bon Jovi with their fake cowboy nonsense, Thin Lizzy are more realistic cowboys than these guys. Come on with the banjo! The sad thing is the faux-country songs are far better than the easy listening garbage that were the hits on this album (Take It Easy, Witchy Woman and Peaceful Easy Feeling). If the song Peaceful Easy Feeling does give you a peaceful easy feeling, you have bad taste in music. There is almost nothing redeeming about this album and it baffles me that with a debut like this they became one of the most successful bands ever.

oh no.... they do fucking suck

Absolutely terrible. The Dude was correct.

I honestly don't get the hype around this album or Eagles. Maybe their sound was innovative and interesting in the 70s, but I feel like other bands have taken their music and just do it better. Ironic that I consider this album derivative, but I feel like that just means it didn't stand the test of time in my opinion.

I have never really like the eagles but I never knew why. Now I do. Every song on this album sounds like someone else. First track-pure praise league, track 2 witchy woman- stardust by csny. This album just doesn’t sound original at all and the lyrics are trash. The musicianship doesn’t save since nothing is really astounding.

This easy listening, banjo-pickin’, boring ass, elevator music is not for me. This is one of the biggest bands of all time? The early 70s were a cesspool of shit music. The very best thing I can say about this album is that it’s only 37 minutes.

Holy this was so boring, literally sounds like the early beatles but shitter

Ambient Country Rock.

The Dude was right, the Eagles suck.

I hate the fucking Eagles, man.

I'm not going to make a Lewbowski reference, but the Eagles just suck. When the album was over Spotify played Steely Dan and what a relief. Steely Dan sucks dog shit, but it was better than this.

EAT SHIT

I hate The Eagles.

What a snooze fest

The dude is right. This shit sucks. I’m scared to look and see how many other Eagles albums are on this list, but I’m not looking forward to Hotel California.

This did not give me a peaceful easy feeling

nope. Proof that sales do not always correlate to quality

Such a boring album. No wonder the Dude doesn’t like the Eagles.

This was awful. Turgid rock posturing. Next.

Not as bad as Hotel California, but it still sucks.

Jesus this album is boring, shame that there is a bunch of good classic rock music but a lot of the popular stuff is just like this. I dont think I have heard a classic rock album thats more of a chore to listen to then this one.

So lame. Boring, cheesy, uninspired dad rock. The dude was right.

Oh, so this is what they meant when they said "the banality of evil" 1/5

Not a fan. Take it easy is alright, the rest is bleh.

god bless anyone who got all the way to Earlybird before giving this a 1 and quoting Lebowski. god help anyone who got all the way to Earlybird and still gave this a 5.

Not a big Eagles fan. I've never really liked their vibe much, especially Don Henley's persona. I think the cover photo is the best thing this album has going for it. Take It Easy is mostly solid as well but that was written by Jackson Browne. Standout Tracks: Take It Easy, Peaceful Easy Feeling

Fuck the eagles. They don't even get a capital letter.

The most overrated band of all time.

I’ve never found the Eagles to stand out much, even in their time. Blah.

"I hate the fuckin' Eagles, man." - The Dude

I believe we can chug all night I believe we could hug all night The band is loose and the groove is right You're so much woman Believe we could chug all night oof - the finger-picky guitars and vocal harmonies are just on the wrong side of whatever sound this record is trying for. Absolutely shitty lyrics throughout. The production does sound great for what its worth. I don't know what I did to deserve two Eagles records in a row followed by Dire Straits of all things. I'm pretty sure my dad owns multiple copies of all of these albums.

Bird shit.

What a slog.

Awful.

Man, this album was not good at all. Like, Witchy Woman was alright, but the rest was either at best a poor man's America or at worst god awful country rock with no variety or depth. I would give the little bit for the small parts that were okay, but of course they're also obnoxious about music streaming and make it impossible to play the only okay song on the album within the album itself. Nah, fuck this band, I knew all they were good for was Hotel California, and this album doesn't even have that radio fodder.

I had a boss. That played this album every. God damn night.

With this album, Eagles have ruined Country-Rock forever. Nothing makes me feel like raging and punching holes in my furniture more than hearing “Peaceful Easy Feeling”.

Couldn’t wait for this to be over. Country without any heart. Folk without any passion. Rock without any bite. Lynyrd Skynyrd without any sense of fun. The Grateful Drag. Credence Clearwater Revulsion. Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Yuck. Should I keep going? Eagles suck man.

boooring

Æji, Eagles. Sama hvað ég reyni get ég ekki fílað þetta. Óþekktu lögin eru jafnvel verri en þau þekktu.

Ohhh... Witch-ay Woman...

Terrible music for terrible people

Awful bland ninsense

This was really just the most boring album I've listened to. So generic it may as well not exist. 1/5

Some things just don’t age very well.

The Dude was right: I hate the fuckin' Eagles. The classic rock equivalent of greige house paint.

Naff. Hillbilly trash.

The atrocity that put country music on the map, this album is not only bland, annoying, and widely overrated; but it managed to popularize the act of taking the same sound someone has done and repeating it into oblivion. This album hurt the music landscape and I will never forgive it for that. The bird song was okay tho. 0.8/10 (wish I could give it a 0 damn this site)

AOR - yuck.

This album is dreadful and knowing that it (per wiki) "played a major role in popularizing the country rock sound", I hate it even more. Where is my option for negative stars??

Sorry, I really don't like the Eagles. At all. Awful.

Ugh. Eagles. No.

Just more crap.

Fuck off.

Obligatory Lebowski

Fana örnarna man...

Hated it. I expected it to sound like the Eagles, which it did, who I hate the sound of. I even listened to it on a train journey which is the highest compliment you can pay an album.

Eagles suck.

Nah...

Pfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff.

This album sucks

Could not find

Not my bag, sorry Eagles, I will not be taking it easy.

Quite nice in the morning but nothing that really pops out 3/5
