6/10. I fucking hate the Eagles, man. This is fine, but pretty boring. The two songs from it that got popular are nice to listen to, though.

I wish I hated the eagles so I could say “I fuckin hate the eagles, man”. Outside of their popular songs they’re pretty meh. The main problem is that their popular songs are so classic. 8/10

California Classic.

Watered down pop country rock created by two of the biggest assholes in the music industry, Don Henley and Glen Fry, but sadly I really love it. I do prefer this version of the Eagles to that of later Eagles after Joe Walsh joined, even though I love Joe Walsh. I'm going to rate this high but honestly I'm not sure if it should be on the list.

I know it’s kind of cool to say you hate the Eagles. It there are some really great tunes here. I live Take It Easy, even as a kid I loved that song. Witchy Woman is horrible. Just a garbage song. As is Most of Us are Sad. Ok, as are a lot of songs on this album. But I do like Peaceful Easy Feeling. Which is amazing because I’ve heard it a billion times plus my dad sings a cover of it and always fucks up the chorus (seriously), and it still hasn’t ruined it for me.

I always thought the Eagles were kind of bland. Some dinosaur band grown ups would babble to me about when I was in High School. This album did nothing to change my mind. I guess Witchy Woman is ok. 2 Stars for that.

I know that the Eagles are a very divisive band. There is a massive amount of hate, some that I understand, a lot that I just think is "cool" to have (read the reviews on this site, most of them reference "The Dude." Try to have your own opinion on something. And at the same time, while it's cool to hate them, they have one of the best selling albums of all times with their Greatest Hits album, The three singles on this album are all amazing. The rest of it is just okay. A little torn as to what to rate this album because I would listen to Take it Easy, Witchy Woman, and Peaceful Easy Feeling at any time. The rest of the songs are nothing to write home about, but I also wouldn't turn them off if they were on, they're just sort of forgettable. While if I was going to listen to The Eagles again, I would probably just put on their Greatest Hits album, this one still was a better overall album than I expected,

This is The Eagles first album, after being the touring band for Linda Ronstadt (Ah, now I get the Frank Zappa reference to Linda Ronstadt having an opening in her band during Steve Vai's tryout for him). It was produced by Glyn Johns who pushed for them to become a more country band with great harmonies. Glenn Frey and Don Henley wanted a more rock sound. The end result is this album put in the "Country Rock" category. Some critics had a hard time with the country part given the band members' background lacking in that area. Anyway, I hear elements of country with ballads and some of the instrumentation including banjos. I also hear the rock part with some pretty straight-forward rock songs. What they did establish was their excellent vocal harmonization which would carry throughout their career. The lead singers are actually split among all four orginal members: Glenn Fry, Don Henley, Randy Meisner and Bernie Leadon. That would obviously change to some extent in the future. I actually enjoyed listening to this album especially some of their lesser known songs. There are three US radio rock staples on this album. "Take It Easy" and "Peaceful Easy Feeling" define West Coast Country Rock. My favorite of the popular three is "Witchy Women." Sung by Henley it definitely fits more into the rock category and still sounds unique and fresh to me. As I previously mentioned, I dug a few of the more deeper cuts. "Take the Devil" is the most rockin' song on the album. Sung by Randy Meisner, it has a Crosby, Stills and Nash feel to it and ends with a great guitar riff/solo. "Earlybird" has more of that country feel with a banjo and Bernie Leadon as lead singer. Great harmonization also. Even if the Eagles didn't become one of the biggest bands of the 70's, the album still showcases a band with a lot talent and very good songs. Their popularity and somewhat negative criticism because of that and this musical style did not distract me from enjoying this album.

Nothing wrong with classics.

Surprisingly solid album. Mega hits and hidden gems.

Glyn Johns was hot as a pistol in 1972. He'd worked with bands like The Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Who and Led Zeppelin, and David Geffen wanted Johns to work his magic on a new band he'd just signed to his new record label, Asylum. Johns was flat out unimpressed when he first saw the Eagles perform. At the time, Bernie Leadon was the band's de facto leader, having been a member of Flying Burrito Brothers. But Glenn Frey's alpha dog personality fought Bernie's influence, so the Eagles weren't sure what the hell kind of band they were at the time, and Johns clearly heard that. But he also heard the magic the band's four voices had when they harmonized. He knew then that the band had something, and he could take all of the promises of the Byrds and the aforementioned Flying Burrito Brothers and solidify the Eagles as the premier country-rock band. That magic is all over this record. Yes, you've heard the three hits ad nauseum. But listened as a part of the album, they all flow together with the vision Johns heard in those gorgeous harmonies. Each band member gets to sing lead on at least 2 songs here. To my ears, the MVP of the album is Randy Meisner, who was always the secret sauce, but never sought publicity and was happy to strum his base while hitting those insane high notes. Randy didn't have the outgoing personality of Frey or Don Henley. Like Leadon, he was content simply being in a band. But the three songs Randy takes lead vocals on here are the best of the non-hits. His song "Tryin" gets my vote for best track on the album. "Tryin" should have been a single, but a follow-up album beckoned. This record got a particular rave review in Rolling Stone when it was released. Reviewer Bud Scoppa called it one of the "best first albums of the year. And I could be persuaded to remove the word 'first' from that statement". That wasn't good enough for Henley and Frey. Glyn Johns would soon be out of the picture. Leadon would quit the band after four albums, followed by Meisner an album later. It was always going to be the Henley/Frey show. It's hard to argue with the success they had, especially in terms of cranking out the hits. But Glyn Johns was correct. The Eagles were at their best when they'd blend those voices into soaring harmonies.

I've never been a big fan of the Eagles - a bit too "soft rock/easy listening" for me. But I can't deny the talent, even on their very first album. I like some of the sadder songs, especially the Gene Clark co-written Train Leaves Here This Morning. 4 stars.

It was nice to listen to this first Eagles release, but for me, this album is the definition of "not so bad and not good enough". A perfect 3 stars album.

A really great album, particularly for a debut. A nice easy country rock listen. Some nice guitar work on the last song that shows what eventually is to come for the Eagles

The Eagles are one of those bands that by all rights I really should love -- truly talented musicians, songwriters, performers, and incredible vocal harmonies, rock/country-rock stuff, oftentime fun and upbeat tempos and also ballad-style stuff -- yet...I just don't. Not sure what's missing from them for me. Sure, I like grit and edge in rock quite a bit, but there are plenty of bands without a whole lot of grit and edge that I adore. I think it might have something to do with why I also admire but don't always love CSN. It's almost like the vocal harmonies are too perfect, I don't know. That's kind of a ridiculous thing for me to say because the Eagles and CSN recorded way, way before autotune and other tech things could perfect anyone's singing. But that's the paradox: I can absolutely admire their talents and abilities, but just don't really care much for the music. C'est la vie.

Is it a classic? Sure. Is it also kind of boring? Definitely.

Fun banjo old americana - every song felt like a single worth singing along to

This album is dreadful and knowing that it (per wiki) "played a major role in popularizing the country rock sound", I hate it even more. Where is my option for negative stars??

Was good

The Eagles debut album opens with the iconic ‘Take it East’ and features other well known tracks that showcase the band’s unique laid back country rock sound infused with Laurel Canyon contemplation. Unfortunately, the album suffers because that sound is not fully developed throughout and sees the Eagles writing a lot of filler material that doesn’t really sound like them.

Apparently obligatory Big Lebowski reference. With that out of the way, I can't really argue with Take It Easy, oh well, until the banjo kicks in, fuck off man. This album came up early and I skipped it for months because it's The Eagles. Came back to give it a fair crack now. If Witchy Woman is representative of the better songs, then this isn't going to be fun. Shite. I didn't have high hopes for a song called 'Chug all night' and those expectations were realised. Following that with Most of us Are Sad is actually hilarious. The vocal harmonies are very nice. There are some songs I can tolerate... (Train leaves...) And heck, these obviously influenced Midlake and other stuff I like. But, well - Ok I'm just going to say, it's not for me. 1 star for an imagined version of Take it Easy with no superfluous banjo, and 1 star for being in some way responsible for Van Occupanther.

The Eagles are probably the band that most people think of when they hear "dad rock" but man.. I kinda really like this album. I was expecting to loathe this since I don't particularly care for country music but I even enjoyed the song called "Earlybird" which is the most stereotypical farm music I've ever heard in my life. It's corny (like.. actual corn, yeehaw), easy to hate on, and not the most musically impressive thing ever made, but I like it.

There's a lot to commend about this fine album, featuring some timeless music that's well played, well sung and tastefully produced. One thing that sticks out is how heavily influenced they were by The Beach Boys vocal harmonies. The lead guitar parts are also notable. The main complaint for me is the lyrics which are a bit pedestrian, but it's a non issue if you're happy just to tap along with the rolling grooves.

70s rock isn’t really my thing. This didn’t change my mind.

This album is fine. I'd say that their best two albums are Hotel California and The Long Run. Why the Long Run isn't on this list is a mystery to me. When it comes to their next best album it is a toss-up between Eagles, Desperado, On the Border, and One of These Nights. Standouts: Peaceful Easy Feelin', Take it Easy, Witchy Woman. 3.5/5

There are a handful of debut albums that just blow me away. This is most certainly one of them. It's easy to understand why Eagles are one of the most popular rock bands of all time.

Big fan… enjoyed

The eagles debut album has a lot of classics on it including the first two, Take It Easy and Witchy Woman but Peaceful Easy Feeling is also on here too. All to say, this is a really calm album. Some of the songs are a little more upbeat but feeling peaceful and easy seems like something different from the rock of the day. Great start to a hopefully great week.

"Running down the road tryna loosen my load" ??? Eagles be eagling, man. This is our second from them, and just like Hotel California, it's got some classic hits. They're a band that's made easy to hate by their ubiquity, but they're also easy to love because the music goes down smooth. Two tracks on here with "easy" in the title in case it wasn't clear, and they're easily my two favorites. Rock on, birds. Favorite tracks: Take It Easy, Peaceful Easy Feeling, Witchy Woman, Nightingale. Album art: One that I never paid much attention to, as it's mostly just a sky. But closer inspection reveals what seems to be a silhouette of a cactus "skyline" in front of a desert sunset. Digging the vibe. 4/5

The only worthwhile track here is "Take It Easy". The rest is very boring and forgettable. It's a bold move to start an album with one of your best songs. Doesn't quite deserve a 1, so a 2 is fitting.

Sans surprise, l'accueil des clients est parfaitement maîtrisé, les locaux très bien entretenus, le linge est lavé, rangé, etc... Seul petit hic, les prises électriques sont assez mal réparties dans les chambres. Globalement satisfaisant : 3/5.

Un excellent album de hotellerie rock, les Eagles en mettent absolument partout: ici les serviettes sont parfaitement pliées, là-bas la litterie laisse entrevoir une douce odeur de lessive. Un album à mettre entre toutes les mains.

This doesn't deserve nearly as much hate as the kids on college radio who have listened to a whopping five drone and musique concrete records give it but it also doesn't really deserve the adoration the generation before yours might have given it. It's musically competent but I think it's a bit better when it bares it teeth and goes for a Halloween or JRR Tolkien's The Hobbit kind of sound as opposed to a sitting back and drinking pineapple flavored alcohol kind of sound.

Production is amazing. Close harmonies lush; great pickin'. Take it Easy is a classic of course. Witchy, Chug and Peaceful and Tryin' are decent tunes too. There's a few fillers but mostly right up my street.

Imagine listening to an Eagles album and it doesn’t even have Hotel California

Wasn’t really a surprise when I looked at the Eagles wiki page and discovered the band originated from Los Angeles. The music they make is what I like to call Corporate Country, totally divorced from its original working class and black roots and we end up getting songs like Chug All Night. I don’t even wanna talk about that song, it was such a cringefest and sadly a vision of what mainstream country would become. The album doesn’t help itself by having the two best tracks first. It all goes downhill after Witchy Woman. The lyrics are pretty surface level. There’s a lot of lyrics pertaining to loving a woman but they way it’s written doesn’t come across as a genuine emotion. Rather that they’ve written about loving a woman because they think it will sell well. It takes the aesthetic of country and wears it like a poorly fitted costume. Best tracks: Take It Easy/Witchy Woman Worst Tracks: Chug All Night

Thoroughly enjoyable - mix of rock n roll and country rock. Love those "high flyin' harmonies", sweeter than Beach Boys and Everly Brothers. Looking forward to reviewing Hotel California!

Like low fat vanilla icecream with vanilla topping. Production quality is good, but that only makes hearing the boringness even easier.

Fantastic album

Pretty okay. Standard Eagles. Didn't stand out for me at all.

Usually not that invested in the Eagles, but it's a pretty good album. Has a real classic rock sound to it. Whilst good however, it's not something that I'd consider very memorable, hence 4 stars

Folky, banjo is quite prominent Also bluesy, but strongly rock "Most of Us are Sad" is a surprisingly beautiful ballad "Nightingale" has an interesting passage with diminished passing chords "Train Leaves Here This Morning" has also interesting harmonies "Earlybird" has a very memorable and weird intro

A really solid debut by one of the biggest bands of the 1970's. This album reminded me a lot of how I felt listening to CCR's Green River: the band themselves are great with the specific record featuring some monster hits that are fantastic, but it does have some filler songs that keep it from being great. I definitely cut Eagles more slack in this circumstance as this was their first ever album and features more intricate instrumentals/harmonies that are very impressive for a debut record. You can tell that they were already shaping into the band they would come known to be, and while I have no doubt that they improved as the years went by, this was a great introduction to the world and indicative of the potential they had. I would throw this one on again, but I have a feeling that there will be an Eagles album in the future that I will really love. 3.5/5. NOTE: I did add Take It Easy to my Starred list after visiting this album. I always forget how much I enjoy that song, and it was fun hearing the high quality details of the banjo and guitars after only really hearing in on FM radio.

Pretty much a classic, unpolished but with hints of what is yet to come from one of the most popular bands of the 20th century

Hated it. I expected it to sound like the Eagles, which it did, who I hate the sound of. I even listened to it on a train journey which is the highest compliment you can pay an album.

What, my Eagles is the best! Can never resist Don Henley's voice... well, they do have some relatively boring songs and were still yong in this album but no harm done.

My interest in the Eagles waxes and wanes, I rarely seek the music out, but this is a pretty iconic offering in its genre.

Classic country Rock, the heirs to Gram Parsons really got going here. "Take It Easy" and "Peaceful Easy Feeling" both classics. still rocking after all these years. Saw them at Wembley Stadium a couple of years ago. Cracking gig all round!

STELLAR album. So many classics, a blending of acoustic and electric that rivals any, and thematically tied to boot. A rare 5 on an album I'd never heard all the way through.

Knew some of the songs. Bunch of classics. The rest though, meh.

Feel good, but too country

Take it Easy - First song in and the name fits well, super chill, easy listening rock - Quite a nice song. Witchy Woman - IT'S THE INTRO! Me and Ken where losing our minds trying to guess this at the pub quiz! - Sick song though Nightingale - All seem pretty Vanilla so far (Witchy Woman is the only one sticking out. Train Leaves Here This Morning - Another nice song but again, super slow and chill. Overall a good album, though the only song I'd probably choose to listen to again is Witchy Woman - its a bit too dull for me, maybe good for background listening.

Peaceful easy feeling always makes me feel good an want to sing, even if my voice sucks...Eagles are always a welcome addition on the playlist

Good first effort from these guys. They really defined the soft rock, country folk vibe of the 70s. The song “Take it Easy” was an early favorite back in early Jr HS years. 3.5 and rounding up for nostalgia.

Doesn't sound revolutionary, but probably because they were so influential. Beautiful folky rock. Solid easy-listening 4.

Classic dad rock. Straight down the middle, foot tapping, well crafted, classic dad rock. Album starts off really strong but kinda wains in the middle. Great harmonies. 3/5 - It was was alright, probably won’t listen again

Fucking hate The Eagles

While I wouldn't go out of my way, I wouldn't be mad to listen to this on vinyl. The vocal harmonies really are what keeps the songs interesting.

Eagles by The Eagles (1972) This is the album that made country rock respectable. The three hits from this record, “Take It Easy”, Witchy Woman”, and “Peaceful Easy Feeing”, were hits for a very good reason: they expressed manful first-person emotions with a fine vocal harmonic blend and top notch guitar & banjo playing that resonates in the listener’s soul. No gimmicks, no recording artifices, no glam—just pure, unadulterated songs, changing both rock music and country music for the better. With smooth melodies combining A- voices into an A+ mix, The Eagles entered the rock scene turning all ears in their direction. And after nearly fifty years, it still sounds fresh. With “Nightingale”, for instance, The Eagles take a song that could’ve been very bad, and make it very good, with creative arrangement and flashes of (well tuned!) guitar and vocal brilliance—tight, disciplined, sober. These four guys were born for studio recording. One key to their success was that all four instrumentalists were also employed in vocal performance. They were all invested in making both wings of the sound soar. The moniker “Eagles” was symbolically apt. And they have a salient talent for making slow tunes interesting (“Most of Us Are Sad”, “Train Leaves Here This Morning”, and “Take the Devil”). These well performed but less popular tracks justify pulling this album out and listening straight through every once in awhile. I’d pay good money to watch a young person listen on headphones to “Peaceful Easy Feeling” for the first time ever. I’d be watching a soul expand before my very eyes. I may try it out on my grandkids this Christmas. 4/5

Som ett första intryck kan albumet anses vara banal och utdaterad, bortglömd i havet av medelmåttighet. Jag kan inte förneka att albumet tyder det på vissa sätt. Bland annat genom instrumentval och karaktär i röst. Simulant har albumet tänkvärda egenskaper. Bland annat gav många låtar av väl genomtänkta ackord strukturer. The Dude abides

I like this twice as much as Hotel California. I find the hits more palatable, possible due to the fact that I wasn’t already fed up with the Eagles at the time they came out. The supporting songs are stronger and I prefer the country flavor over commercial rock.

This album has not aged well. Everything about it just reeks of Americana and is clichéd.

After listening to this I think I should have given Prince a 2. Easy listening with a couple bangers. Funny that they released a greatest hits album before Hotel California ever came out.

Good music

No other band embodies "classic rock" more than The Eagles. Overplayed to hell, every human on the planet knows at least a few songs by The Eagles. And three of those tracks are right here. Great production, but most huge pop bands could claim that. What The Eagles have going for them is their great songwriting. If you just listen to the lyrics to even the lesser songs on this album, you'll see potential if only their sound took off the same way. Their most famous track "Hotel California" is the perfect example of what could have been to most of the songs they write. This album is supposed to be country rock, but it mostly sounds like they're trying the copy the sound of others that came before them, like the Byrds or Neil Young. I can't give them any points for innovation, except maybe the song "Earlybird." There's little else I could say for most of the tracks. For the three radio staples, I don't find them annoying despite how overplayed they are. In fact, I find them relaxing. "Witchy Woman" is the best song on the album but like the others it doesn't take off anywhere exciting. Overall, it's a disappointing effort by a band that could have been so much more than an over-commercialized product.

4th November 2021 Listened on the living room speaker while working, then went to Cox and ailis's for dinner. Amazing stuff, song crafting.

Gibt es doch kein Hotel California können vor allem die langsamen Nummern („ Most of Us Are Sad“ & „ Train Leaves Here This Morning“) vollends überzeugen in einem sonst so soliden Country/Folk/Blues/Rock, der nicht mehr allzu stark hinterm Lagerfeuer hervor lockt. Erwähnung in der Liste wohl aus der Zeit heraus erklärbar. Sonst müsste ein durchschnittliches Album von Woods, The Shins oder Rogue Wave hier auftauchen. Durchschnittliche 2.5

Das shuffelt und slidet sich sehr angenehm durch, man möchte sich auf nen Truck setzen und aber bitte nicht über die Deutsche Autobahn fahren, sondern nen Highway entlang, natürlich. Ich mag diesen Harmoniegesang gern und die Sanftheit (gelegentlich gebrochen durch "Rocker" wie Tryin'), und die wohlige Atmosphäre die dieser durch und durch MoR ausstrahlende Klassiker erzeugt. Dazu kommt: für ein Debütalbum, bei dem sich der Sound der Band ja offensichtlich auch gerade erst im Diskurs mit dem Produzenten so richtig gefunden hatte, klingt der Sound hier schon wieder derart ausgereift. Respekt, volle 3,3 Punkte dafür!

I get why this album is important in the grand scheme of things, and it did have one great tune (Witchy Woman) and two pretty good ones (Take It Easy, Peaceful Easy Feeling). Still, without more Henley vocals, and with the mish-mash of styling, it left a 3-star taste in my mouth.

I enjoyed this album much more than expected. Quite a lot of strong tracks that I didn't know and really enjoyed. This is definitely an album I'd listen to again.

I actually expected this to be a 5 star album, but eagles go a long way up from this album! Still great and timeless songs, but a lot of the album was less exciting than a large amount of the eagles’ catalogue I’m more familiar with.

So over-rated. Yes hits ate fine I suppose, though Witchy Woman I could live without. Why can't I live in an alternate universes where bands like The Jayhawks and Wilco are superstars and The Eagles are the "good" band that most people have never heard of. Of course in that universe I'd probably give this album 4.5 stars. In this universe Eagles gets 3 🌟

Previously I only knew "Hotel California", and thought the Eagles were okay. Now I know I just like Hotel California. Uninteresting country rock.

Before I even start playing this, I need to state that the only Eagles songs I have liked are Hotel California, and their Tom Waits cover (though I still prefer the original). I will try to be open minded though! Immediately it contains the line 'Come on baby/Don't say maybe.' which is up there with rhyming moon and June, or orange and orange. It's then followed by an atmospheric stomper called Witchy Woman, completely undermining any atmosphere the music brings up - reminds me of that Kanye song where he just says 'Scoopity Poop' but at least he was trying to be annoying. By Chug All Night I'm starting to wonder if this is deliberately a joke? Either way it's terrible. Most of Us Are Sad is a marked improvement. It sounds like Neil Young phoning it in. Still, straight back to disappointment with Nightingale afterwards. Wanted to give up, but like before, a slightly better song, Train Leaves This Morning keeps me from giving up. Is it good though? Or just good in contrast to the effluent I have already crawled through? Peaceful Easy Feeling is nice enough. An album of more like this would be a 2 or 3 star album. As it stands though it's not enough though. I came in indifferent to The Eagles. This experience has made me dislike them in 40 minutes. Definitely not one of the 1001 Greatest Albums of All Time, in the same way Mrs Brown's Boys is not one of the 1001 Greatest Comedies of All Time, despite its popularity. Indeed, it's popularity doesn't suggest quality, rather that it makes sense that there are enough people to keep Trump, Al Qaeda and Simon Cowell in powerful positions.

This album is warm and a little rustic with some pure pop moments that you really can't beat. The vocal harmonies are sublime, as you expect them to be coming from the Eagles. No, this isn't the Eagles' best album, by a long shot. It's an excellent first album, though, and shows plenty of sparks of the sound the band would continue to develop over the decade. It's also nice to hear Randy Meisner and Bernie Leadon's contributions prominently featured. It's like the Eagles you remember, but kind of a different band as well, with more of a country sound. There are three top tier classic songs on this album that pretty much everyone knows who has heard of the Eagles "(Take it Easy," "Witchy Woman," and "Peaceful Easy Feeling"). They're all still crisp and fresh as the day they were made and they pretty much lift the whole album to the next level. There are a couple of other interesting little gems on here like "Train Leaves Here This Morning" and "Take the Devil," but most of the other songs just pale in comparison to those three big singles. This is obviously a band still getting its bearings and trying to figure out what they want to be. It's a solid listen though. Fine country rock album, a bit uneven perhaps, swings back from 5 star to 3 star and back again. Quite a while since I heard it for the last time but could certainly enjoy it.

There were moments when they sounded pretty good, but overall finding this bland, which is generally my reaction to The Eagles.

I cannot abide The Eagles for some reason and I'm not sure if I can fully articulate it but here goes. It's weird cause I generally like the solo material of the individual members, but when they work together they all seem to hold each other in check in such a way that the music just sounds like a compromise. Rather than push each other to new heights they all seem to collectively agree to play it safe instead. Their massive success has often baffled me. But I guess it makes sense that in the country where Subway is the largest fast food chain and Bud Light is the most popular beer, that people would actually prefer the absolutely mediocre sounds of The Eagles.

I love the Eagles, but they are really a singles band and not so much album oriented. I also think “On the Border” is a better album than this one, but am giving it a four based on the strength of the three singles that were generated from this album.

Take It Easy, Witchy Woman is hard to beat in terms of a 1-2 punch. I mean the Eagles have a way of creating a laid back groove with ease. Yea these harmonies are where its at. Early Bird is real weird but i like the banjo.

Ho iniziato ad ascoltare quest'album in macchina, venerdì, dopo aver staccato da una lunga giornata di merda a lavoro ed è stata un'esperienza quasi mistico-curativa con Take It easy, mi è sembrato di stare in un film. Purtroppo poi le altre canzoni non hanno avuto lo stesso effetto: le canzoni più rock, sono tipiche anni '70, niente di sconvolgente, mentre quelle più tranquille sono tipo ballad country, che balls! Dopo Take It easy solo Earlybird mi è sembrata all'altezza delle mie aspettative. Poi basta.

Avevo sentito questo album forse un paio di volte quando avevo 15 anni ma non l'avevo apprezzato particolarmente. Devo dire che ero un po' prevenuto anche se gli Eagles mi stanno simpatici perché fanno questo country rock un po' psichedelico e più orientato alla forma canzone. In realtà mi ha divertito molto, alcuni pezzi li ho trovati anche abbastanza moderni (Witchy Woman) e in generale ogni pezzo c'ha il suo carattere e il suo senso all'interno dell'album. Ovviamente è un album molto legato ai suoi anni nonostante la modernità e non manca la ballatona o il pezzi più modaiolo ma sono comunque abbastanza personali. Per me è 5. No scherzo, è un 3.75 però tre mi sembra troppo poco visto che comunque ho dato 4 a Déja vù.

Questo è forse il tipico disco da 3, uno di quelli che non ti schifano però poi te lo scordi dopo poco. Quindi per questo dopo oltre 50 dischi gli do 2, sarebbe un 2.5 ma non sento di premiarli.

As a rule, I don't drink during the work week. I feel like this album probably sounds like a 10/10 if you're half way thru a solid six pack of generic watery american beer.

Really boring. Really shows how Eagles is a dadrock band that only nostalgic dads like. It wasn't bad, just incredibly cookiecutter which gives it a low score on this list.

Solid Americana

Better than I expected since I'm used to Hotel California and their more country sounding material. Side A is stronger than Side B, but a pretty decent album overall.

When you think of the Eagles, the sound on a majority of this encompasses ‘The Eagles’ sound; multi-voice harmonizing, multiple guitar parts, signature 70s blue jeans rock n roll. Chug All Night is fun. Tryin’ is great too. The biggest downfall is that the slower songs don’t seem to stick out as much as the more upbeat ones.

Aside from the eagles songs everyone knows there are some real gems on here. Highlight would be chug all night. That being said, I’m more of an eagles hits fan. Good album though, just not my cup.

"Chug" is a decent tune and "Early Bird" is a twangy little stomper with a banjo lick that caught me by surprise. However, their popular songs have been played to death so bury this album in the desert and call it a day. 2 stars.

Not really my thing

5/5 - Who is Don Henley?

This was an unexpected surprise. I knew a bunch of these songs already and some are classic rock classics but the ones I didn't we're fun country rock jams. That being said I realize I'm not a fan of Don Henley and the songs he helms I tended to skip.

Started off fast, slow songs in the middle that got a bit repetitive, finished strong. I think starting with Take it Easy, followed by songs like Nightingale and Train Leaves tells the listener that we are going on a journey through the desert, the barren. Tryin' brings us back to civilization as we re-enter the city imbued with a sense of accomplishment and motivation for what else lies ahead.

Love the Eagles, such a great debut album. The hits are great, but even the deep cuts are super enjoyable.

Some classic songs with some rockier numbers mixed in.

A fine debut soft rock album from one of the genre's most famous bands. Doesn't have the highs of some of their other work but its consistent through out. Not particularly my cup of tea when it comes to rock and I think that's mostly because of how insanely laid back the album can often feel. There is a lack of any real propulsion to the rock songs and I think thats a part of the reason why I can't truly connect to The Eagles like others. Still a perfectly fine album, better suited for BBQs and laying in a pool than anything else.

Fantastic album. Heard it many times

I’ve never been a big fan of the Eagles, but this surprised me and it’s starting to occur to me by participating in this 1001 albums exercise that I’m quite partial to country and country influenced music. This is a solid and polished debut album with some great rockers and nice nods to Crosby, Stills and Nash as well as bands like the Little River Band who liberally borrowed the Eagles’ sound for their own work.

01/27 - Yesterday I worked on a few coordination items as well as set up another print for the manufacturing building. I spent the morning focusing on sizing the Hilti sheet metal product for the northeast penetration at the penthouse. During this time I listened through the album. Later in the day I was pulling details into the Train B model and running the new print. During this time I listened to more interesting songs such as Witchy Women, Tryin, and Take It Easy. Super easy album to listen to and kept me motivated through the day.

This is a great band, but this is not a great album. Honestly, this was a time when albums launched "hit records." That song was "Take It Easy" on this album. There are 2 other notable songs -- "Peaceful Easy Feeling" and "Witchy Woman." Why is the best Eagles Album their "Best" or "Greatest Hits?" Well, because their albums are just ok.

Take It Easy is the most popular song on this album but Peaceful Easy Feeling is notable too. Not a bad album, just easy going, typical of Eagles. 8/10.

I had no idea that the Eagles were so "western." Like of course Hotel California takes place in the desert, but it's a side that I wouldn't associate with them. I hadn't really put "Take It Easy" in anything but more of a pop-rock or just rock genre. But the rest of the album was so different. There is Banjo! The Eagles play THE BANJO. wtf. I never knew this. I guess the Eagles really are more than their hits.. Some tracks that really spoke to me as I sit in my bathtub at 1AM as I listened to this: 1. Train Leaves Here This Morning (soft and almost remorseful 2. Take the Devil (Badass.) 3. Early Bird (Reminds me of ZZTOP in a couple ways.)

I thought saying the Eagles suck was a joke because of the Big Lebowski. I stand corrected. 90% of these songs sound like they were written and performed by Dirk Diggler. 1.5 because I still half like take it easy.
