Reviews (page 10 of 14)

eh for me, outside of the songs I knew

Probably AC/DC's best album. I say probably because I've only heard the two on this list in full, but honestly I don't think I'm missing out on much. Yes, the songs sound pretty similar to each other. Yes, Brian Johnson's vocals are bit more shrill, but what are you gonna do when your former vocalist drowns in his own vomit? Either way, good riffs, fun and low stakes Rock music. Key tracks: Back in Black You Shook Me All Night Long

The most classic of rock. A little too samey, but honestly pretty fun

Not my preferred brand of classic rock and the schtick gets repetitive, but undeniably classic and irresistible in some places.

I just really dislike this kind of voice

It was pretty good, not amazing though

80s rock. Mourning dead lead singer. Second best selling album of all time. Good rock album, irritating vocals.

These guys cracked the code to hard rock and just went for it. Not something I typically listen to, but I do appreciate what they were able to accomplish and the musicianship

Sonically, Back in Black is the blueprint for hard rock and metal music to come, and it remained an exciting listen. Just ignore the lyrics.

3/5 All songs on the album sound very similar and are built the same way. Dont get me wrong, some are catchy, but that isnt enough for me to call it a great album.

I was SO excited for this one, i love AC/DC, and especially this album. So good, the guitar solos are fantastic. Fav song is ‘You Shook Me All Night Long’.

Personal enjoyment: 3/5 Relevance to this list: 4/5

*Back In Black* contains four unarguable gems, kickass rock 'n' roll tracks with taut, punchy playing and stellar production that's keenly tailored to the material. The album as a whole has an unfortunate 6:4 ratio of filler-to-killer that loses it a few points, but when the combination of songwriting and sonic whomp comes together on tracks like "Hells Bells" and "Shoot To Thrill", it's as good as hard rock can possibly get.

its a classic

Good album. Definitely what I imagined an album with Back In Black to sound like. Let Me Put My Love Into You was my favorite. 6.2/10.

Enjoyable. Seems a long time since i saw them in an early incarnation supporting Hawkwund or someine similar!

Good , but I think they all sound the same

Of course I know this band, but it's the first time listening to an album in it's entirety. I can confirm all their songs sound the same but they seem to take pride in this fact. The production is great, the guitar tones are indeed rocking - if you want sweaty, 80s hard rock then you'll love this. I don't particularly want sweaty, 80s hard rock though and couldn't get past the screeching, unpleasant vocals. Another record that deserves 5 if you're scoring it based on the bands intentions with the album - and with 37 million monthly listeners on Spotify clearly people love it. But I'm scoring on personal taste though and its getting a light 3.

everyone loves ACDC except me lol A for effort, they do crank it out I just don't dig their sound - at all, not one redeeming track for my taste, but who cares what I think : )

good, like classic rock

its good

cool, got introduced to michael jackson

I have a soft spot for the hits but I don’t think they’re good?

These guys can rock but the vocal style can be grating at times. Simple, straightforward, ass kickin rock with some quality riffs and macho power. It’s fun and has a few classic tunes, but not something I’m likely to seek on my own.

If you’ve heard one AC/DC song, you’ve heard them all.

Pretty solid album. It’s a classic and I love AC/DC songs, I mean after all it was what I grew up on, but their songs are pretty repetitive in terms of chord progressions. I also feel like this is a band where you don’t listen to a full album straight through because angus young’s voice can get a lil annoying sometimes.

5/10 Favorite: Back In Black

Listenable, big cock rock but entertaining.

Here in Finland there is a nationwide radio station called "Radio Rock". Their slogan is "We play what we want" but in reality they might have the the shortest playlist of all the mainstream stations in Finland. Whenever you open the radio, you are likely to hear Money for Nothing, One and Nothing Else Matters, the biggest hits from Back in Black and a few Finnish songs (usually Nightwish and Apulanta). In addition, how many times you'll hear Back in Black (the song) during an ice hockey game? A dozen? I guess there was a time when AC/DC sounded dangerous or interesting but nowadays you could play You Shook Me All Night Long to a shopping center full of people and no one would be upset. About half of the songs on this album are no longer even music, but sound wallpaper for commute to work, for the beginning of the home team's power play and for lost youth.

Not too shabby, a couple of pretty good songs

Admittedly not the biggest AC/DC fan overall, but there are some solid tunes on this album

A classic, but never been an AC/DC guy.

Uh-oh. I couldn’t get over the lead singer’s scratchy gruff voice. Its ugliness detracted from May of the songs, and I found myself only really enjoying the two ubiquitous hits: “Back in Black,” a legendary banger, and “Shook Me All Night Long.” I realized I like the crowd-pleasing pop elements, which I think is probably down to producer Mutt Lange. The guy knew how to spin pop gold out of rock and metal acts.

Noen legendariske riff. Men litt kjedelig spør du meg. Og takler ikke helt vokalen.

Great for what it is. I have a hard time with the screeching after a couple of songs personally.

The songs are catchy, riffs are nice and clean, etc., but also really repetitive and can't shake off the feeling that if you listened to 3-4 ACDC songs, you basically heard them all, but at the same time I got it that old r&r heads love to listen the same song on repeat throughout their whole life - and that's fine too. 5.5/10 Will I add this album to my library? NO

++: Hells Bells, Shoot to Thrill, Given the Dog a Bone, Back in Black, Shake a Leg, Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution +: What Do You Do for Money Honey, Let Me Put My Love into You, You Shook Me All Night Long, Have a Drink on Me 7,7/10

Again, not my thing but quite enjoyable.

Classic rocking album held together by rocking guitar work and energy. Shook me is a classic.

didnt care for this

I liked it. It reminds me of something my dad would listen to.

I'm not a huge ACDC fan I'll be honest. This album rocks but it's just not quite for me. It absolutely deserves a place on this list, and the double hitter of Back In Black and You Shook Me All Night Long is awesome. But outside of that I can't say that I personally got a huge amount of enjoyment from this. Favourites: Shoot To Thrill Back In Black You Shook Me All Night Long

I used to be obsessed with the classics back in my teens, but now I'm kind of sick of them.

it's okay - some obvious heavy hitters

Decent high energy album. Very similar sounding throughout but was enjoyable to listen to. Don’t know if I would listen to regularly.

Like the hits, rest are alright

Good solid classic rock I like it

I understand the appeal and I wouldn't be upset if it's on in the background at a party or something. But that style of scream singing just makes my throat hurt thinking about to. But I am not going to choose to listen to this album.

Listening to a single AC/DC song is great. A full album is when the cracks start to show. The heavy riffs and unapologetic machismo is fun for a bit, but the repetitiveness is clear as day.

Blues riffs played loud with over the top lyrics, the staple of black tee boomer music. Unfortunately, for all the uncomplicated fun it is, the criticisms hold true. It is kinda repetitive, and the lyrics are but a fig leaf to what is actually there.

very fundamental and important rock / metal album, even though it kinda doesn't feel like that for the first half (the 2nd half really shows it's value haha). i can't believe that these vocals are these vocals sobbing

no es mi estilo

The drums are incredible the whole way through.

Fine. Nothing spoke to me, but didn’t hate either

I’m pretty tired of these guys these days but I think the blame lies with Apple Music’s algo that keeps recommending them. I think it’s his voice. I’ll try not to hold that against this albums listen. There are songs and some riffs that make this a 4 star album. But it gets docked a star for the vocals.

Some great rock and roll tracks. Themes seemed pretty similar throughout the album

It's funny how time changes things. Back in "the day", AC/DC were seen very much like Aerosmith - some hits but nothing special, just one of a number of pedestrian RAWK bands. Then somehow both bands ended up becoming lofted into the pantheon of gods by their sheer longevity. Last band standing writes the history? Anyway there's always been a place in my heart for big dumb greasy 70s rawk, and a few months ago I realized these Aussies had quite a few kickin tracks. Mostly I love the greatest hits - there's not many great songs here besides the obvious big 3 but their lean 1980 approach stripped bare of 70s bloat is fun to listen to. Angus's tone crushes it. If there were just a couple more songs with actual hooks, this would push into 4 stars easily for the sheer joyous cheeseburger sound of it.

The singles were good, but the lesser known songs were alright

3.5 Some bangers but quite overrated as a whole I feel :/

Back in Black fits the category of songs I know very well but would never choose to listen to but then when it comes on in the context of the album you realise it is a very good song. So sharp, such a good use of the blank space. Overall, within its lane I think this album does what it wants to do well. Its just not really my lane. Fave Tracks: Back in Black, Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution 3.2/5

The jams and riffs are good but even with the big hit songs, it all pretty much feels the same. Likes: Hells Bells, Back in Black, You Shook Me All Night Long

Giving this 3 stars bc I do like the chords, but the lyrics are just so repetitive and kind of lame imo.

Back In Black by AC/DC was today’s listen and I have to say I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected. This album is loud, fun and aggressive in all the right ways. It knows exactly what it is and doesn’t try to be anything else. The riffs are massive, the energy is relentless, and it just feels like a proper rock album from start to finish. It is one of those albums you can put on at any time and it just works. Favourite tracks: Back In Black, Hells Bells and You Shook Me All Night Long are all brilliant. Least favourite tracks: Nothing feels out of place, every track does its job. Album artwork: Simple and iconic, suits the album perfectly.

Sort of hilariously one-note but also pleasurable in its simplicity.

Good album, although not my favourite genre

What can I say about this? It's AC/DC. It has some great moments - nare I say, classic moments - but the album as a whole? Meh.

SC/DC is a band I want to like a lot more than I actually like. They've got some bangers on here, but there's only so much cock rock I can stand, and they definitely blast past the outer limits. In short, I feel pretty much exactly the same about AC/DC as I do about the Stones: the only way for me to enjoy them is via a best of collection.

You see jokes online about how the lead singer would have auditioned, and the rest of the band thinking 'yeah, this is a great voice for heavy metal'. There is not a lot of range beyond yelling, and the songs sounds quite the same because of it. OK, but slightly boring.

When AC/DC returned in 1980 with Back in Black, they weren’t just releasing another hard-rock record—they were regrouping after the death of singer Bon Scott and introducing new frontman Brian Johnson. The result is a lean, riff-driven album that doubles down on the band’s bread and butter: blunt-force guitar hooks, stomping rhythms, and just enough blues groove to keep things swinging. Johnson’s high-pitched rasp is an acquired taste, but it suits the band’s barroom bravado surprisingly well. The album’s biggest moments hit exactly where they should—“Hells Bells” opens with a slow, ominous build before locking into a hulking groove, while the title track “Back in Black” and the swaggering “You Shook Me All Night Long” distill AC/DC’s formula into pure, radio-ready hard rock. The downside is that the band’s devotion to that formula makes much of the album blur together, but when the riffs land, they land hard.

AC/DC have never really been my thing. This album is decent but it's not one I'd be listening to a lot

Finishes on a banger. 3.1 stars.

Structurally a good album, music is meh

It all blends together too much, and the vocals are weird. You Shook Me All Night Long kicks ass though.

lyrics are a bit sus but good album

Generally very safe and sterile overall. The lead vocals can only be attributed to AC/DC and the guitarwork is solid overall but everything else is as I said, safe. This album pushes no new boats to see but nothing on this project is below decent. I do like Shook Me All Night Long as I think its the lightest and fun song of the album but its the most radio friendly song as well. This album is emblematic of their whole sound and I mean as a compliment and an insult. I don't hate this album but I'm not revisiting it aside from throwing on select songs on a playlist on shuffle.

Good music, but very misogynistic and juvenile… which sorta worked when I was 14, but not now.

fine album. AC/DC is not a band that gets better with more listens, and I've listened to far too much of them in the past, but if you're going to listen to one of their records it might as well be this one

the two songs i like are good

Pretty great record, but had a good amount of filler.

Note : 3 À réécouter : Oui

It’s not particularly deep and most of the songs sound pretty much the same, but it’s still a fun listen.

I've previously been quoted as saying "maybe the worst vocals on an album I've ever heard, this is unlistenable" after listening to an AC/DC album. But my research says that they moved the singer to drums early in this album and then he died, so this album has promise. The intro to Hells Bells is legendary, and this album rocks through and through. The vocals aren't good but they're iconic. givin the dog a bone is like purple stain, a song that absolutely jams but is rough when you dial into the lyrics for even a second. i mean some of these songs could've been on doggystyle. The album delivers on what it promises -- a jamfest. I'm not going to listen to it often, but it does what it does well. References to coercive (possible abusive) sex should lower this significantly, so I'll drop it from a 4 to a 3

Beter dan verwacht

I liked the album tracks more than the hits, not my kind of music but better than I expected

A little screamy off the top, maybe if I was more angry today it would have gelled. My favorite tracks were Let Me Put My Love Into You (never heard) and Back in Black, You Shook Me All Night Long (iconic)

Classic case of "objectively nice, but the singles carry the album." It's a bit repetitive for my taste, but the vibe is good. The kind of album I'd throw on while I'm driving, windows down, not thinking too hard, just letting it rumble in the background. Does what it needs to do. Doesn't do much else. Solid. Predictable. The singles are the singles for a reason.

Not my thing at all but still pretty good tbh.

Good, but now wowing. The instrumentation isn't as clear as I like. They kind of blend together. This isn't a good note.

Another example of an album which has individual songs I really like, but are best served one at a time, at a football game, or a movie montage. Shoutout to Hell's Bells for being one of the best openers to an album, ever. At the end of the day, there's only so many times I can hear a grown man scream-sing "givin the dog a bone."

Honestamente, aborreceu-me ligeiramente porque parecia sempre a mesma música. Contudo a sonoridade é icónica.

*1980 *3 big hits - Hell's Bells, Back in Black, and You Shoot Me All Night Long. *There's a time and a place for AC/DC, and listening to 42 minutes of songs that sound like Hell's Bells with different lyrics is not it. *Fun in small doses. *Extra star for the big hits. RATING - 5.5/10

I never really got this hair metal style of music. It’s fine but doesn’t grab me. I know they were huge though so it must speak to someone

It is what it is an okay rock album

Not my favourite band. Not really music I listen to. This one is alright though. Some classic songs.

Rock and Roll! At it's purest form! And that's all it is! But! I didn't hate listening to it. It's starter Rock and Roll for the masses and I'm okay with that.

Coincidence that Back in Black was released the same year as Michelle Remembers...? I think not. This album feels like the gayest devil you can imagine licking your ear and saying, "Welcome to the 1980s." If you think this album is for idiots or you're sick of hearing these songs on the radio, try this: Listen for the influence from CCR, Vanilla Fudge and Neil Young. Ah that's better.

Is there anything more representative of Contruction site classic rock? I can feel the football players running out of the tunnel, smell the biker bar burnout smoke, and feel myself reaching for a t-shirt from a cannon. There is a time and place in the world for AC/DC. Sitting at my desk isn’t one.

Angus and the boys kick out the jams with some iconic snarl. Maybe it’s because I know it so well but it’s kinda like comfort food, even if they want it to be a bit nasty.

I am remembering why I burned a CD in high school that just had four of these songs. But man, are those four so good.

it's fine. The fun songs are fun but Brian Johnson's voice is so unique and not in a long form enjoyable way. An entire album of that is not ideal. I'll take AC/DC songs one at a time.

not a huge acdc fan

The hits are good (really good) but about half the album is average at best.

Great stadium rock, not as great for reading emails in the office. This is good music situationally but it lacks the next level to transcend into greatness for me.

180921 17:07 3.5

Classic album. Can’t deny the staying power of these songs. Really decent.

It's okay. Quite formulaic per usual + I think their albums with Bon Scott are just better. 6/10

I recognize that for some, AC/DC represents the best of what rock and roll has to offer. I myself prefer Spinal Tap.

AC/DC it was a good length considering the songs had a very same same vibe. I like a bit of this

Honestly wasn't super excited to get this one haha I'm Australian and so Acca Dacca is played everywhere all the time and I guess it looses it's charm. However as much as I wasn't in the mood to listen to it - I did and it was suprisingly fun and energising to listen to. Loved Hells Bells, Let me put my love into you and You shook me all night long. Will actually probably listen to again lol

Endlessly catchy and heavy riffs. This really helped me power through my hour-long workout.

Glasgow Apollo 1980

Not bad, just as I remembered as a kid. :)

I did quite enjoy this to be fair. Happy to recognise a few too! Something I’d defo have to be in the mood for but I even enjoyed the screechy style singing

Pretty good, but a bit repetetive. Probably a 3

- simple but effective album cover - not much variance in the way each song sounds - not very subtle….. - it is a classic though - top favorites: “You Shook Me All Night Long,” “What Do You Do For Money Honey,” and “Hells Bells”

The hits really hit, everything else is just horny misogynistic boomer slop

I dunno, it was fine. I’m not really into Johnson’s vocals, I prefer Bon Scott and Highway to Hell. I’ve never been huge on AC/DC and I think it’s because there are a few more hits with Johnson than Scott. Anyway, not bad, just didn’t move me much.

Shoot to thrill me chamou a atenção, particularmente.

Musically, this is variations on the same song 10 times. Thematically, it's utterly brainless, with lyrics that could've been written by Nigel Tufnel or David St. Hubbins. But a) it's a pretty good song, and b) no one's expecting anything more from a bunch of drunken Aussie horndogs. I never need to hear "Givin the Dog a Bone" or "Let Me Put My Love Into You" again, but "Hells Bells" and "Back in Black" are great. So is "You Shook Me All Night Long," but I've heard that song a million times so I'm all good with that one, thanks. 3.5 stars.

So musically this album was great - the guitars, the drums and the bass - wow! But…I’m just not a fan of the singers voice. It’s not a bad voice obviously he can sing but it’s just not the sort of voice I gel with and I found 10 tracks of that voice in one go to be a lot. By no means a bad album but just not my vibe

Individually, I love all these songs. I'm a fan of rock and metal, so listening to such an influential album was fun. Howmever, every single one of these songs felt like they were about sex and drugs and ten songs back to back about that was a bit much. Individually, 10/10 but together, no thank you.

niye bu kadar sevildigini anlamadim

I'm a fan of AC/DC so this was fun to listen to more than anything else.

I am AC/DCs biggest opp, I do not find them enjoyable. From listening to this album, many of the songs just sound too similar. Yes, it has classics, but those classics suck. Instrumentals are just basic with nothing interesting and the vocals are annoying. Shake a Leg is the most interesting song on the album, I do enjoy the guitar riff. But that is it. I wouldn’t listen to this album again. I do not like AC/DC. The end.

Rock. Man rock. Winning formula. Repeat. Roar.

Good fun, can see why its beloved but not my genre.

spiritually i am an australian dad sitting out front on the veranda listening to this. solidly ok album that has been beaten to death

Recht-toe, recht-aan plaat. Lekker, maar is ook de zwakte. Lekkere nummers, vooral Hells Bells, Shook me all night en drink for me. 40 minuten is lang zat, meer van hetzelfde en stem die je zat wordt.

3 stars for the shear ability to get a crowd out on the dance floor and even join in on a few vocals

This album is dumb, but damn does it rock. It smells like an old, drunk loser at the locals-only bar sticking his finger into the chest of a younger man in response to some perceived slight, talking about how he's "old school." I wonder how many idiots have talked themselves out of getting laid by saying something like "Let me put my love into you, babe." Side note: In 1978, AC/DC did a last-minute set on the BBC's Rock Goes to College. I think it's the single most rocking performance I've ever seen on tape. The crass, sweaty lyrics feel more authentic coming from Bon Scott, who gives off a genuine, dangerous, perverted psycho vibe. "Whole Lotta Rosie" is the perfect example. He ain't bragging about being seduced by a 19 stone red-headed prostitute and heroin addict; he's just reporting. The lyrical content of the songs on Back in Black is immature to the point of being stupid. "Rock 'n' Roll is just rock 'n' roll." Yeah, no shit, Sherlock. But this record is not about reflective storytelling. It's about guitars, drums, bass, and vocals invading your skull and knocking your brains around. And to that end, it can't be beat. I'm convinced that a major reason why this album is so legendary is that the recording is a perfect fit for the music. Those guitars are impossibly crunchy without getting lost in distortion. The pulse of the bass and drums constantly hits you in the chest without dominating the mix. If you can, find and listen to files from a good vinyl rip of the original US Robert Ludwig Monarch pressing. It's a masterclass in recording a gritty, punchy rock-and-roll record that lets the aggression come through fully from the music, not by mixing levels pushed to the max and destroying the soundstage. This is a record that rocks your face off but leaves nothing for your now-exposed brain. Three stars.

Fun and energetic album with solid riffs and enjoyable vocals. The problem is that everything just sounds like the same song over and over again. It’s good on a first listen, but there no replayability to be found. 7/10

A classic Fav songs: Shook me all night long, hells bells

Is it good? It depends on your definition. No, I don't think it's an artistic masterpiece. It's not thought provoking, it probably won't lead to any life-changing epiphanies, it certainly isn't the work of some poet laureate. That being said, if you viscerally HATE this album, you're most likely being a snob that only hates it because so many other people love it. I think it's a fun album and I think that's probably what AC/DC was going for. Turn off the pretensions and there's plenty of solid guitar work to enjoy.

Blir litt for lei

This is tough for me. I've always kind of hated on AC/DC. 'It's the same 3 chords' 'The whiny singing' But damn this album does rock. Hell's Bells, Shoot to Thrill, and Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution all bangers. The rest of the album is kind of same-y but still. Some of the lyrics haven't necessarily aged great but it is what it is. 3.5/5

was a bit samey but liked it tbh. would have never thought to put this album on so happy it was recommended :) would give it probably 6.5/10. not because its bad just felt quite samey and not really my fave genre (ratings are subjectively my opinion)

i know and love all these songs but it was a little intense to listen to them back to back on an album.

I don’t know… some of these AC/DC songs were such a part of my youth, though I never bought or intentionally listened to the albums. I’d hear them on the radio and at parties… I tried to listen to the whole album with a fresh and critical ear, and I still can’t sustain interest. I have no real critique of the music, but I just don’t connect with it. I think I’m just not drawn to riff-based rock and I want more melody/hooks.

Loved this as a teenager. Still some great tracks but overall not as epic as I remember it.

I didn’t think I would really like this one, and while it’s not my favorite, I think AC/DC makes really good music! I bet it was so awesome to listen to when it first came out. They have a to of hits, and I can see this album being a no skip album for people who really like hard rock. I like their unique sound and it is a really good album!

This album came out when I was in high school, and is one of those albums you couldn't miss because it was played all the time on the radio and then in college it was always played at parties or in dorm rooms etc. So, I am very familiar with this record. It has 5 fun songs on it that I like to hear every now and again - such as Hells Bells, Shot to Thrill, Back in Black, You Shook Me All Night Long, and Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution. But beyond that, I find that sitting down and listening to it front to back gets kind of tedious and repetitive and I keep wondering when it's gonna be over. It's not really something I would willingly listen all the way through on my own. The music is too samey without enough variety. The lyrics also get kind of tiring - like they keep trying to show how "evil" or sexist or what big partiers they are. It's feels kind of like fake rebellion to me, and doesn't really have anything interesting or thought provoking to say. Liked songs on Spotify: 5/10 Rating: 3/5

This is an AC/DC album. I could almost copy-paste my Highway To Hell review. I do honestly think that, while AC/DC have not made only one song in their career, they *have* kind of made only one album (several times). I hold that most people have one, *maybe* two favorite AC/DC albums and you don't really need any others (My favorite is Dirty Deeds). That being said, Back In Black is up there for me. This was the world's introduction to Brian Johnson after the passing of Bon Scott, and while I don't think Scott was replaceable, I do think Johnson made a valiant effort and very much became his own person, with his own version of AC/DC (which was admittedly, pretty similar to the previous version of AC/DC). Anyways, when you spin an AC/DC album, you know you're getting catchy, almost minimalistically written hard rock with a blues-y slant, a couple pieces of rock canon, some fantastic solos, and a lot of classically "rock" sleeze. Here, the canon classics are the title track (obviously) which is one of the most recognizable rock songs *ever*, and I would argue Hell's Bells. Hell's Bells changes it up a little, embracing a slightly different atmosphere than you usually get from AC/DC, and the result is another iconic song. And, if you are invested in *AC/DC* canon, a lot of these songs are vital. Shoot To Thrill, Let Me Put My Love Into You, You Shook Me All Night Long, and Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution are discography classics in particular. But this album manages to not really drag much. Every song has a catchy melody or a great solo, or something. And, even if AC/DC isn't usually my Rock and Roll drug of choice, this is one of their better albums. I am aware that my score for this is probably a little low, but ultimately, my lack of strong feelings about most of AC/DC's catalogue, coupled with some songs here I really don't come back to kind of cap the score. That being said, this *is* a good album, and I understand why it's a classic.

i wish i could enjoy it x)

I did not expect to be bored by a metal album. Very repetitive lyrics and the screechy vocals throughout... ugh. "You Shook Me All Night Long" is the best song just because the vocals are better. The "Back in Black" riff just barely pulls this up to a 3.

They manage to sound pretty unique by sounding like the most unoriginal band ever, somehow. It's energetic and Brian Johnson is a great vocalist for the band. The album gets quite repititious and there's very little to differentiate the songs. Not that the band was trying to make anything other than that, but it doesn't give me much reason to listen to the album instead of individual songs. You won't find anything better here than Back in Black or Hells Bells.

Way better than highway to hell. So many classics on here that get creative and have some variance in dynamics. Favorite songs: Shoot to Thrill, Hells Bells

A bit hard for me but classic and a few Great Somgs

Better than expected but still not my style

Two great songs, all the rest is dreck

Instrumentals absolutely amazing, truly great music. unpopular opinion, but the vocals were best on Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution. On other songs they get so high, they become grating.

Preferate: Hells bells; Shoot to thrill; Back in black; You shook me all night long

Cele mai bune piese: You shook me all night Let me put my love into you Have a drink on me Back in black ofc

The album sounds very monotonous to me so I kinda got sick of it after a few songs.

Well, a bit hard, not a huge fan of ACDC but three bangers in this album, the rest is a bit too similar, but it's efficient and one of the most distinctive voice in rcknroll

Tag urself I’m too many women with too many pills. uwu Brian Johnson’s voice reminds me of Dr. Rockso the rock and roll clown (my first clown love) and it gets added points for that. It however loses those points again bc Let Me Put My Love Into You is mad rapey. I also think Dr. Rockso is technically based on David Lee Roth but I guess we’ll see. No way there isn’t a Van Halen album on this list.

Nice riffs and catchy tunes but nothing out of the ordinary. A bit one-dimensional.

Obviously this is considered a classic. But I truthfully found most of the songs to sound essentially the same and forgettable outside of the hits. I also just don't really prefer Brian Johnson's voice. I like the double-tracked riffs, but there are many bands that do this better imo. 3/5

One of the first songs I learned with two fingers on piano was Thunderstruck Talk about cool. 😎 AC/DC have been and will always be giants of rock and roll. Having cannons on stage and fire and combining lyrics about sex, love, and other rock and roll themes.

Good rock with classic songs. The songs I was unfamiliar with didn't stand out, but not sure if that was because of the unfamiliarity or just not as great.

I love hate this record. I was excited to see it come up - was expecting some really fun good time rock and roll. It kind of delivered on that. I do find his affected vocal delivery a bit off putting though. The guitar chops are awesome but there is something about the blues and country clichés that bugs me too. The objectifying and sexualising of women is off putting in parts. At times it feels like a cheap cosplay led zeppelin record. But it's also full of some well constructed solid hard rock pop songs. It's really fun to listen to when I can see past that stuff

someone’s dad is thrilled rn

I only liked two songs, and not the favorite songs either.

Klassikt sound. Lite för repetativt. Inget utstående.

Quickly gets repetitive. Don’t care much for what the music is telling me.

Very iconic songs but I’m realizing that im not super into Brian Johnson’s singing

Some cheesy bangers on here, but at the end it was all just very samey.

great songs and great album

This is my first rock album that I have listened to. I really like this record. The instrumentals are amazing and the singing is awesome. I really enjoyed this album.

Bon Scott >

hell yeah! you shook me all night long is so good. the others besides back in black are eh to me. i was wearing my long black trench and jon briks said it was the vibe of the album

Obviously a classic but this type of rock is just very meh to me

Lots of feelings about this one. On one hand, it's an amazing comeback album from a band that lost their heart and soul and their lead singer. Very very hard to comeback from that. On the other hand, Brian Johnson is no Bon Scott and a lot of these tracks are boring or repetitive. Hells Bells is a good song. NOTE: I originally rated this at 4 stars (3.5 out of 5), but I'm going to drop it a bit because I was recently listening to older AC/DC and this is nowhere as good as that. 3 / 5 stars

Rather good. Very early rocking album. I just hate american metal vocals

It's a fine album. Classic, basic, nothing too special, middle-of-the-road. Very timeless, only thing identifying it as 80s is just the genre. Not my favourite genre whatsoever though, only really cared for Back in Black and You Shook Me All Night Long.

Shoutout to the AC/DC cover band full of 16 year olds I saw in HKG with the lead guitarist dressed like Angus Young and nailing every solo and the singer nailing the voice god I wish I was as good as those 16 year olds It’s a pretty fun album - I forgot how great hells Bells was and it’s even better as an album opener Maybe a complaint was that all the songs sound similar but idk that’s just the aesthetic of their style of rock

The good songs are obvs very good, but i do feel there is a lot of filler on here as. Also I always wish i was listening to Bon Scott over Brain Johnson. Let me put my love into you has got to be one of the most repulsive song names of all time as well. Back in Black is the best song on the album.

Hell yeah. I wish I was a teenage boy listening to this in the 80s, I would have been a menace. The album is perfectly AC/DC — the unserious dramatic elements, great guitar and staple vocals… it is great. I think I slightly prefer Highway to Hell, but this was still a great listen.

Another AC/DC album. Dull 70s 'hard' rock but now it is the 80s. These lyrics... A couple of standout tracks, but the formula wears real thin. 2.5 rounded up Heard before? A couple Owned: No: 32/126 (25%) Will I get? No

To some degree they are what they are, an uncomplicated rock band that aren’t too over the top or extravagant nor try to be. On the other hand, it very much just seems like the Brian and Angus show neither of which I rate that highly. The bass in particular this time round caught my ear as it is surprising that they rarely play anything more complicated than quarter notes on the root. Similarly, the drums seems to primarily just be a backbeat for Angus to riff over. Also seems a strange choice to fade out at the end of back in black where it could have reached some kind of crescendo instead. Not bad, solid, but not particularly novel either.

Bom disco!

There are so many hits on this omg; listening to this album makes you want to fight someone (in a good way); good hard-rocking songs but the album got boring a third of the way through because all the songs sound so similar

When I had a show on my college radio station, obviously one of the requirements the station had was that I keep my show clean. Sometimes, when making my show playlists, I would find myself looking at a song and asking "is this too sexually explicit for the radio?" In these situations, I had a simple system: 1. Listen to "You Shook Me All Night Long" 2. Realize that my song was nowhere near that explicit 3. Put it on the playlist

41 minutes of pure rock cliche. The title track is of course genius however, so 3 stars for that alone.

Never could stand AC/DC when I heard it on the radio. Not excited that this is my first album.... Maybe this will change my mind. Hells Bells - Great intro, great riff. Singers voice is very grating in this song. Good song though. Shoot to Thrill - kind of generic hard rock from the radio, but decent catchy song. Good chorus! What do you do for money - same as last song, kind of generic hard rock, catchy enough song to be relatively pleasing. Fun guitar solo. Givin the dog a bone - another generic hard rock song. totally skippable. Let me put my love into you - good intro, first song that feels like a different song since hells bells. This slower song feels like a good vehicle for the singer's voice. Some interesting guitar licks in the prechorus. fun guitar solo. Back in black - oh I know this one from the radio. great intro. good catchy song. You shook me all night long - probably my favourite so far. have a drink on me - alright, let's get back to forgettable classic hard rock. I'm a sucker though for the back-up vocals during the chorus. shake a leg - fun riff once it get's going. guitar solo is not great.. rock n roll ain't noise pollution - I like this one. Ok, I get that this album is super well-loved, but it's simply not for me, beyond a couple of the singles. hard rock is boring rock, unless the band adds something unique, which ACDC never does for me. Led Zep, GNR, even Jethro Tull do the same thing with more interesting results.. Ultimately, it's ...fine

Listens: 3 Standout Tracks: Hell's Bells, Back In Black, You Shook Me All Night Long Yea so, in my mind, from the List so far, this album is the epitome of "Sex, Drugs and Rock n' Roll". Hard rock guitar, dripping with both explicit sexual imagery and references as well as sexual innuendo abound... and an assumed copious amount of drugs consumed to go along with the lifestyle. This album has 3 extremely popular tracks on it, which I think carry the album more than it should. Without those three tracks, it's meh, but there's no denying that opening to hell's bells as totally epic. All this being said, I don't like it more than Iron Maiden or Black Sabbath or Metallica. And finally, shoutout to my Australian coworker who tells me that Australians call AC/DC "Acca Dacca". I now call them "Acca Dacca". Deal with it.

paar bekannte woe highway to hell oder back in black, hard rock

A lot of the same but the singles are good

Party rock is in the hoooouse toniiiiight

I thought I'd be grooving more to this one. Solid and all, but not quite as fun as Highway to Hell.

Practically a Greatest Hits for AC/DC. Fun listen. 3.5/5

This album proved to me that I can like rock and roll, which is ultimately a good thing even if I wasn't all that into its shrieking and screaming and whatever else. Some crazy riffs in here as well; favorite songs are "Back In Black" and "Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution"

Much preferred it to Highway to Hell - still a bit samey

There's a world where this album reads like a Barry White ripoff, but shriekier, more guitary, and heavier on the sex-pest vibes.

surprisingly, it is better than i initially expected. there were at least some diversity and a couple of interesting things. yet, still a wife-beating boomer magazine type music 3.5

I have heard the singles on this album more time than I have ever wanted to, with the exception of You Shook Me - which is a great song. This is a very well made, clean sounding album. The problem is that every song is more or less like the song that preceded it. Maybe I am a snob but this is not nor will ever be to my taste even though I can appreciate the guitar licks and sound.

Merge de fundal

Good old classic rock, a little too ROCK for my tastes but still classic

When I was a teenager I hated AC/DC because I guess I hated fun or something. Now that I’ve sat through a whole album I’m still not in love with it, but past me needed to chill out

Power rock!

Meg. I knew the words to at least half the songs; not by choice. His voice is irritating after maybe the 3rd song. 3/5

My parents’ music. Would be a lot more badass if I hadn’t heard it so many times

Back in Black is a certified classic. Does it carry the entire album? ...kinda. Nothing else is particularly remarkable to me, but it's still a fun album.

It's an ac/DC album. What's not to ac/DC about it?

Great intro, the AC/DC sound is relentless throughout the album. A few crowd pleasers, but the overall feel gets monotonous.

Not my cup of tea. I can imagine very limited scenarios in my life where I would want this music playing. It is cohesive as a project though with innuendo and euphemism applied consistently. The drumming and guitar work are steady and strong with high production quality throughout. Vocal performance also very good.

it's AC/DC

I am not a big AC/DC fan but it’s a solid record with some proper hits. But it just all sounds kind of similar.

My god do AC/DC lyrics always leave a lot to be desired. I guess it was standard practice to have sexpest lyricism in the late 70s and early 80s but that doesn't mean I have to enjoy it !!! There's a few alright songs on here, it's generally pretty lame though.

Like Aerosmith but with better songs

The lead track would be worthy of led Zeppelin, the rest more run of the mill. Vocals unrefined.

De facto quintessential sound of hard rock

Massive record, massive singles, and a comeback story for the ages.

Not my style, but it's fun. Glad I listened to it

I'm not a fan of AC/DC, but when you listen to the whole album as the band intended it to be, it leaves you with a completely different and much more enjoyable picture than listening to the songs separately.

The monstrous hits from this album are fun, and culturally omnipresent. But the album is actually a drag. AC/DC has a very clear formula for their music...and boy do they stick with it. I don't think there's a different drum beat across the 42 minutes of music on this album, nor is there a double hit on the bass drum. This is just straightforward, uninventive rock music. And it is pretty much a double-entendre concept album, as a friend of mine put it. I recognize the cultural impact of this album, and respect the hooks and riffs that drove it to selling millions of copies. But this album is formulaic and conventional, and tiresome in its adolescent obsession with sexual innuendo - oftentimes in problematic ways.

A few classic tracks, not enough songs about sex though...

This is one of those stone-cold dad albums that's on the radios, athletic events, movies/tv. So for some of the biggest tracks on this album, I immediately associate those tracks with whatever venue/media has used those songs. But I think I like the riffs more so than the songs themselves. Favorite tracks: Shoot to Thrill

Listening to the grating vocals of ACDC gives me the same vicarious pain as watching an overly sun exposed senior using a tanning bed. That being said, an album and a band that is unapologetically themselves. Driving percussion and a trundling electric guitar push through the entirety of the album faithfully though it grew a little tiresome by the third song.

Rating: 2.5 This was actually the second CD I ever owned. It’s the same exact song 10 times. It’s as fine as fine gets. If you wanted to play an alien a few songs to show them the most basic popular music possible this would be the album you’d choose.

Listening to this makes my throat hurt.

Interesting to listen to first thing in the morning, made for a fun tube journey

a fun listen while trying to plod through my cataloguing post insomnia night

I wish there were more songs on here when Brian Johnson sung a bit lower - his voice is way better when he does! Otherwise yeah, this is kind of a blueprint type album, hard to overstate the important of. 3.5*

It's a fun hard rock record, they're super energetic and upbeat, which is pretty much the AC/DC trademark sound. Lyrically it isn't too complex or dark, pretty straightforward. The downside for me is that it's pretty monotonous, there's not much variation or different ideas. If you like the biggest songs ("You Shook Me All Night Long" and "Back In Black"), you'll like the album. It's a good rock project, just nothing too innovative or noteworthy beyond the hits.

7/10 Favourite: Hells Bells Least Favourite: Have a Drink on Me

- the best way to listen to this album is in the highest definition possible. otherwise it just brings to mind drunken sporting events and shitty bar jukebox music (also possibly drunken) - I would give this two stars, but a close family friend who passed away unexpectedly in 2011 loved AC/DC, and I have a memory of him blasting Back in Black -- and I mean blasting -- while riding with him and his son to a concert in Columbus when I was 14. this third star is for you, Mike

This album was obviously very influential throughout rock, from metal to punk. I don't know if it's fatigue from hearing it a lot growing up, or if it's just that because its influence is so far reaching that it doesn't feel as important to me, but it's certainly not an album I'm itching to put on. Still a good listen. 3/5

Juvenile lyrics, but the band chose a sound—and committed to it. Polished, in its way. I have to respect that. Aside maybe from “You Shook Me All Night Long,” I didn’t want to hear this coming from the back of the school bus (where all the older, mean kids were) in 1980. And I don’t need to hear it now.

I can smell the cigarette smoke behind my high school shop class. Interestingly, I probably enjoy the album more now that I did then. Mostly the instrumentation, the are some great riffs here i typed a more detail review but it glitched. AC/DC isn't my thing, but there are many tunes on this album that are classics. A worthy entry that was a fun listen, but not something I'll return to.

It's good. I've listened to it before. It's not crazy standout to me and i dont know that i love this kind of rock all the time but its very good for sure. like a 3.7 bc good but i dont listen much

It's interesting, I feel like half (literally 5 of 10) of these songs are classics that get me pumped up and singing the lyrics, and the other half are wholly forgettable. But what's strange is that all 10 sound like pretty much the same song. So why do I love half and not care about the other half? No clue, but the good songs are fucking awesome.

The ultimate “a little goes a long way” band for me. Good riffs, good energy, good music to be a fat guy pumping your fist to when your relief pitcher comes in and you’re feeling hype, good to play the music in Guitar Center when you’re testing out a Gibson SG, but not especially memorable or interesting after 40 minutes. At its best, sounds like Zeppelin, at its worst sounds like Guns n Roses…”Shake a Leg” is fun. I can enjoy it for what it is but wouldn’t seek it out.

Totally fine. Solid. Some classic sounds. You kind of get the point after about the 3rd song. It's not Ibsen

AC/DC are the quintessential bar band for me. If I hear them when I’m out drinking I’m guaranteed a good time. Expect this album not to land as well just listening in the house, but no I still had a great time with it.

Not really my genre but not bad.

I get why this is a classic, just not my thing. Pretty good guitar but the vocals are the same on every song and none of these are ones I’d really go back to despite how iconic a lot of them are

Iha medium

I've had lots of fun listening to this album and I even came back to re-listen some of the songs during the day. But the thing is, there's just a lot more interesting music from this time period that I already know of. Still, it's good and I'll definitely introduce it to my kids.

I’ve never knowingly listened to this album before but of course, I know the hits. All I can really say about this album is that it is tremendous fun and it’s clear why it is so popular; definitely worth hearing before you die.

Damn good hard rock album

Er iconic en ekki min tonlist

AC/DC is the PBR of rock music. It’s not special. It’s not that good. It’s been the same since the 80s. But damnit, sometimes it’s what the party needs.

Kinda like getting finger blasted while watching the latest marvel movie. It means nothing to me, but I'm still having enough fun.

Some obvious bangers and fun riffs but overall didn't make much of a dent for me

Heard the first 6 songs n recognized them all but then met up with some friends neon didn't finish the rest

It's very samey

Great album to return to after a few days away from this site, though I must admit that I'm a little sad to be bidding AC/DC adieu this early. It's been 40 or so albums since I landed on Highway to Hell and I was hoping I could have one last chance to get into their discography before landing on this album. Yeah, I'm not an AC/DC guy. If there's one thing my true blue, patriotic love for my country can't do, it's become acclimated to the screeching tones of our biggest cultural export. Nevertheless, I shall try. I liked this one quite a bit more than Highway to Hell. I'm more favourable to Brian Johnson's vocal style, even if Bon Scott was the heart and creative spirit of the band. His performances are more subdued and he carries himself with a cool swagger which is difficult not to nod along to. The instrumentals are all pretty standard fare for AC/DC, though I ain't complaining. There's plenty of pretty good guitar riffs on this thing. "Givin the Dog a Bone" is a good cut. The guitar hook during the verses is pretty great, and I dig the chorus and soaring tones of Johnson's vocal performance. "Let Me Put My Love Into You" has a great chorus. Big fan of the backup vocalists. Yeah. That title track, huh. Great song, and what is easily my favourite song from AC/DC. The guitar riff is auditory gold and what I can confidently call the best thing to come from hard rock. It's silky smooth while also packing a great deal of punch. I'm also a big fan of how effortlessly the song transitions into the chorus. Johnson's vocals are also worthy of praise. I enjoy how curt the songwriting is in the beginning of the track before going completely bonkers from the mid-point onwards. There's no tune more worthy of rocking out to than this one. I don't need any persuading as to why this album belongs in here, so I'm not gonna check the book. AC/DC are the only band I can think of who have successfully managed to navigate the murky waters of a lead vocalist dying. Even then, this is an album which is pretty emblematic of the genre it represents and was massively successful at the time. I can't think of a better representation of an artist's discography than this album and Highway to Hell. They're *the* albums. I cosign this inclusion wholeheartedly

Back in Black (og egentlig AC/DC generelt) er bruksmusikk. Publikumsfavoritten You Shook Me All Night Long er egentlig bare en Journey låt med litt mer fuzz.

Overraskende kjedelig, men helt greit.

This is really just one “note” played several different ways. That’s not a bad thing if you like what they’re selling, but you REALLY have to be bought in. I like this album. I get why people love it, but it’s just ok for me. The vocals grate on me after a while, and the lyrics are pretty dumb. For what it is, though? A big dumb rock record? You could do worse. 6/10

Classic rock album. Such a raspy, scratchy voice, but somehow built a following with it. The music is fun, upbeat, and cheesy, but it's catchy. Growing up hearing it in various places, it's certainly caught on as a bit of a piece of nostalgia, but it's not something I would regularly visit. Solid part of music history.

AC/DC are a bit of a one trick pony and I feel you’ve heard one LP you’ve heard them all. In saying that though it a decent trick and fun to revisit. It just doesn’t push boundaries or offer anything particularly new or different.

Head goes bop bop bop. Is it a masterpiece (no) is it interesting (no) but it is super fun

I used to be one of those middle school kids that listened to AC/DC in like the early 2000's, so I do look back on this album fondly, even if I'm a little embarrassed about that. It's not something I would put on anymore, but this did have a lot of their best hits.

Favourites: Shoot to Thrill, Givin the Dog a Bone, Back In Black, Shake a Leg, Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution

Boring as hell!

Solid album but high pitch voice gets annoying after a while

Pretty classic. Not personally my favorite, but well done.

I mean, listen. It's good, no denying that. But it's also unrelenting. And this comes from someone who's been known to skip slow songs.

Very monotone

A notorious album by a hugely influential band with peaking high points and songs that introduce a unique sound for the time. However the album lacks uniqueness within itself that leaves you by the end feeling a little lackluster. Solid album with strong vocals, and instrumental, but lacking in song individuality that leaves you ready to be finished by the end. 3/5

For a band that I've know since I was an infant, listening to some of their songs that my father use to play when I was very little and that helped me move from listening to only EDM to Rock, I found this album to be very very stale and quite boring. From my perspective, the only redeemable traits from this record is the clean sound and the attitude, as I can't deny that it feels like they are having fun and giving all they got, specially in the first three songs. However, I'm one of those guys that finds this album to be excessively safe, to the point it seems like they used the same exact blueprint for almost every song. I thought I would like this album more. At least I don't have enough reasons to give it only second two stars, as there's a little bit of personality to it and I'll admit that 'Hells Bells' is a song that I really like.

so much energy

Gets a bit repetitive. A few strong standout tracks but overall I prefer Bon Scott.

Some bangers on here (Back in Black/Rock and Roll Ain’t Noise Pollution) but otherwise pretty average and at times lyrical repetitiveness.

Saved by a couple of classic/catchy riffs/songs, but otherwise actually quite boring.
