Reviews (page 9 of 14)

Bangers on bangers on bangers. This is the first album every white pre teen boy listens to that makes them fall in love with classic rock. Only thing holding it back from a 5 is that all the songs one after the other get repetitive, which I guess I didn’t notice as a 10 year old.

Proto butt-rock. *throws up horns*

Classic album. Hit after hit

I first heard this album in middle school and it was amazing! Nothing like AC/DC to introduce you to the world of no-nonsense hard rock. This band has been around as long as I have, and their music still seems ever-present in the world, whether it's ads, stadia, or radio play. While the lyrics also have a middle school level of complexity to them, you can't argue with Angus's riffs and the A+ rock vocals of Brian Johnson. As an aside, as a beginner drummer it's a great album to learn your first beats on.

How do you fill the void left by Bon Scott? Brian Johnson does his best, and yes he sounds like if Elmo smoked a pack day but I love him for it. The first time I listened to AC/DC as a kid I honestly don't even know that I registered the difference. Yeah its mostly the same 3 to 4 chords but I couldn't care less - these riffs are all timers. Every track is still really fun

Some great tracks here. Not everything works but Back in Black followed by You Shook is killer. Hell’s Bells is a strong opener. Other than that a lot of the songs kind of blend together. Nothing is bad but it all follows such a formula. Angus Young is fantastic; Brian Johnson’s shrill voice gets to be a bit much. In the 5th grade I would’ve given this an easy 5. Listening to it now it’s close, but not quite there.

Testosterone filled teenage boy rock and roll. Maybe it’s not great art but it’s definitely fun.

Top songs: Shoot to thrill, You shook me all night long, have a drink on me. Would choose to listen to it again but probably won't be in main rotation

Hells bells and shoot to thrill are two of the best album opening songs of all time. Hells Bells really should be on a short list of best track 1's. For me its three five star songs and then several middle of the road rock songs, so this will be a 4.

first listen absolute classic, and i know it's very millennial of me, but this album just reminds me of Iron Man all over again

Absolute classic in the rock cannon. Although I was a little surprised to see it came out in '80, I would have guessed earlier than that. Pretty much every song on here is a staple of rock radio, in fact I feel like I've heard most of these songs almost too many times. Nevertheless they do still hold up. The riffs are solid and chunky, the vocals are soaring and the content, while pretty basic, just makes me want to dawn a leather jacket and ride on down the highway into the sunset. A couple of the less popular songs on here feel like filler to me, but everything else is a pleasure to listen to again. Fav Tracks: Hells Bells, Back In Black, Rock And Roll Ain't Noise Pollution

7/10. Loud and straightforward. Well, mostly straightforward, not entirely sure if that one song was about fucking a dog.

Honestly pretty boring despite the couple of good songs. 7/10

Bands rarely survive the death of their lead singer. Rarer still that they can continue to be hugely successful and create another rock n roll classic.

This album is full of catchy hooks and great riffs, it is a classic. The downside is a lot of the songs sound the same and are very similar, still a great album. Favourites: Shoot to Thrill / What Do You Do for Money Honey / Let Me Put My Love Into You / Back In Black / You Shook Me All Night Long / Rock and Roll Ain’t Noise Pollution

This album is so ridiculous. Like pretty much everyone I have heard it a bunch and also was very in to AC/DC as a teenager. I listened to this album a bunch today, for the first time in a while. It was so cheesy and it rocked so much. I much prefer Bon Scott AC/DC but this album is obviously a classic.

4.5/5. Well this is just simply a classic.

Back in Black is the seventh album by Australian rock band AC/DC. It was the band's first album with new lead singer Brian Johnson after the death of the previous one Bon Scott. The all-black album cover was a sign of mourning for Scott. AC/DC had already had their commercial breakthrough with their previous album Highway to Hell, but Back in Black was a massive commercial and critical success. It is one of the best-selling albums of all time and has been certified 25x platinum in the US! This arena rock / heavy metal album has been praised as one of the best, meanest, most influential, and timeless hard rock albums. Back in Black is a nostalgic album for me and it sounds just as good as the last time I listened to any of these songs. This is an amazing album that is easily recognizable because of how influential it was to other rock, punk, and metal acts that performed during the 80's. It's an album that may never go out of style, and deserves a listen from everyone with ears.

Overall a fun album to listen to, even if it's a bit repetitive. They seem to really walk the line between catchy and cheesy.

Hells Bells, Shoot to Thrill, Givin’ the Dog a Bone, Back in Black (yeah, I’m black) and You Shook Me All Night Long. Only real complaint is most of these songs sound the same.

back in black, i hit the sack. im black

Certified classic 4.5/5

Well, the very essence of what is nasal, drunk hard rock.

On the one hand, this album rawks and it includes stone cold hard rock classics like Hells Bells, Back in Black (one of the coolest, hardest rocking songs EVER), and You Shook Me All Night Long. I also really like Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution. On the other hand, there are a LOT of cringy moments - Let Me Put My Love Into You ("don't you struggle, don't you fight, don't you worry 'cause it's your turn tonight. Ugh), Shoot to Thrill, What Do You Do for Money Honey, Givin' the Dog a Bone...notice a theme here? If I didn't pay attention to the lyrics, I'd give it a 5 for rocking your f'ing socks off. Taking a point off for the lyrics.

Just a kick ass rock and roll album

Actually enjoyed it quite a lot - this album is much more than just the singles. I can see why it's considered a classic

Loud, but in a good way.

"shockingly" good

Amazing Rock album and one of the most well received albums of all time. Definitely an all time classic. 9/10

Makes me wanna ride a Harley down the interstate. Top tier, but man that guy sounds like a straight up muppet v

Top 3 Songs: 1 - Back in Black (6) 2 - Shoot To Thrill (2) 3 - You Shook Me All Night Long (7)

4.5/5. Legendary album, great rock. Just a lack of diverse, intriguing content.

Very good rocknroll

Everything an AC/DC album should be -- loud, fast, and chock full of riffs. This is a decent amount of fun the whole way through. Outside of the mega hits here, though, the songs aren't that memorable, and AC/DC has a tendency to sound a little samey sometimes. Still, even when their songs are samey, they deliver that classic AC/DC sound, and what else are we here for?

Decent music AC/DC is a decent rock group and will have to come check out other albums.

Classic album. I just wish I liked Brian Johnson's singing more.

classic album. almost all songs are good, though i do not particularly like them too much given how safe and radio-sanitized it is

Fantastic

Hard knocking classic! I guess if you heard one AC/DC album, you heard 'em all. But if I had to pick one ultimate, it. would have to be this one! The musicality is at its finest, but lyrically its pretty grim, having lost their main singer. But still, this is a great album, and I love to put in on every now and then! 8 out of 10

good album not subtle not subtle at all

Notes: - Iconic stadium rock - If "Rock 'n' Roll" was a sound - Iconic 80s sound - Cultural, social, political context of the Album; would've been seen as really innovating/refreshing the rock genre - Music context; really opened up/progressed rock n roll / metal - Tapped my foot and/or nodded my head to most songs - Fav song: You Shook Me All Night Long

This is like the rougher basis for The Darkness and I love it

Every song on here is a hit! They are the progenitors of hard rock and their skill shows here.

This is a really good album, with some great tunes on it.

A raw rock 'n' roll album, very enjoyable from start to finish. The only thing that prevents me from giving it a 5 is that the songs are a bit similar and it tends to get a bit monotonous after a while. But overall it is a classy and really great album.

There are reasons it's a classic, bops all the way through. Acdc hasn't really evern been my cup of tea but this is defs the best of them

Lots of popular songs on this album. I wasn’t too familiar with AC/DC’s discography and for some reason I thought this album came later, at least a few albums after Bon Scott’s death. They clearly rallied HARD after that. Strong album. Lyrics haven’t aged well (Let Me Put My Love Into You seems a bit rapey (“don’t you struggle, don’t you fight”? really?) but the riffs are solid. 3.75

Yay ACDC. Their songs kind of all sound the same but I like that song.

You can't deny the appeal of AC/DC, especially if you're a male that just wants to rock out! I was in high school when this album was released and the cool headbanger kids (yes, it's an oxymoron) had their logo drawn in pen on the back of their jean jackets. I don't see any appeal for girls that age unless they aspire to hangout with the burnouts and if Bevis or Butthead wears their shirt, they must be cool!. This is the type of music you crank up in your car or at home after a hard day at school or the office, take off the necktie, put on a black t, turn to volume to 11 and turn your brain off for an hour. It might seem silly to be stuck listening to the same band for 40 years, but who doesn't like living in the past, right?

A classic that establishes the new formula for the new-look AC/DC, one they repeated to ever-diminishing returns afterwards. But this is great, the band sounds re-energized and Brian Johnson can still sing here. Three stone-cold classics, a lot of okay songs and very little filler make this one of the most consistent records in all of AC/DCs discography. Keeper.

Classic Rock album, high energy and well formatted. 4/5

Good old rock and roll 4/5.

Straight-ahead rock and roll ... no frills, just rock, again and again with each track. Sometimes that's the problem, though ... every song on this album sounds like the others. There is no real variance from one song to another, except for the last song, Rock N Roll Ain't Noise Pollution. But that's okay - it's AC/DC, and we love them for that.

If anything this album is a victim of its own success. I've probably listened to You Shook Me All Night Long too many time to the point where I don't enjoy it as much anymore, but all the other tracks I am less familiar with still rock. It isn't flashy or complicated, it is just music about sex, drugs and rock n roll. The same four chords (A E D G) is all you need baby!

I tried to put aside how many times I’ve heard some of these tracks on terrestrial radio. Listening from a fresh perspective, this album kinda rocks. You can’t deny, AC/DC has some of the best riffs out there. The fact my phone autocorrected to include the “/“ in the band name, shows how much of an impact this band has made. “Let me put my love into you” will be my new go-to pickup line. I expect many rejections.

Fav Tracks: Hells Bells, Rock and Roll aint Noise Pollution

Brilliant, rocks like nothing else and some truly timeless songs on here. Put my love into you and give the dog a bone kinda suck to loses a star for that

If this doesn't tickle your testes then I don't know what will. You might want to get tested for low-T. Good news is, a dose of AC/DC injected into your ears twice a day for two weeks is the cure. The most majestic and quintessential of 80s folk-rock. This defined an era. I want to do cocaine, lift weights, drive fast, and kick ass when I listen to this. Basically, exactly how I imagine the 80s. 8/10

I listened to AC/DC a lot in high school. This is a great classic rock album with several songs every one knows. Honestly still a banger. 1981 so still early in the 80s. Going to accentuate the CLASSIC in classic rock.

Holy shit Back In Black is such a good song haha Really liked this but I probably did not give it the attention it deserved. I've got no real complaints but 5/5 is saved for the albums that absolutely blow me away, hence 4 stars

Generally not my sort of thing, but a 4* for a solid number of absolute bangers and for being general legends

Unfortunately the band felt compelled to put extremely creepy (Givin the Dog a Bone) and rapey (Let Me Put My Love Into You) tracks on this album, which are really hindering this from being great. There are some flaws with a few of the other songs but for the most part everything on here slaps and is about just having a good time, complimented with some great riffs and solos. 7/10

Classic

As I listened to the Rock radio station growing up, I'm very sick of hearing AC/DC but there really is no denying this album is amazing. A amazing amount of well known songs for one album. Gezzus ... over 2 billion listens for all the songs on Spotify.

At its best, the album is terrific fun. Big hooks, big energy and a wild wail from lead singer Brian Johnson. Their sound distills the 70s hard rock / heavy metal sound down to its most essential elements and turns up the volume. “Hells Bells,” “Back in Black” and “You Shook Me All Night Long” are classics that have taken over classic rock radio and defined the genre. At its worst, the album is juvenile and misogynistic. “What Do You Do For Money Honey” is nasty and mean. And “Givin the Dog a Bone” and “Let Me Put My Love Into You” are are goofy enough to be Spinal Tap songs. A lot of the other songs just copy the formula of the hits and the album gets a bit repetitive. But I’m sure I didn’t do this any favors by listening on headphones. This is a ‘blast it in the backyard’ album. These are songs built to scream out of car windows down the highway. This is rock and roll, best not to overthink it. The final line says it all: “Rock and roll is just rock and roll!” How can you argue with that?

Not super amazing, but a great hard rock record and a good place to start (my first album on the generator). The title track is iconic, ‘Shoot To Thrill’ is fun, and ‘Hells Bells’ is probably my favorite AC/DC song due to its darker theming. (Not like it’s super serious or anything, but I like the imposing bells and riff at the start.) I also really like the guitar tone in ‘Rock And Roll Ain’t Noise Pollution’ for some reason.

One of the greats, for a reason.

Brian Johnson is the Sammy Hagar to Bon Scott's David Lee Roth. Like Van Halen with Hagar, AC/DC sold a shitload more albums with Hagar as lead singer. And just as the best Van Halen albums and songs are those that feature Diamond Dave as lead vocalist, AC/DC's work is miles better with the late Bon Scott. AC/DC was just a lot more fun with Bon Scott...you know, like Van Halen and Dave. Which brings me to a theory that apparently no one is willing to completely prove or disprove. Bon Scott had to have written at least SOME of this album. It's the one album with Brian Johnson that I'll hold up with all of the Bon Scott era albums. You can put the title track and "You Shook Me All Night Long" up with any of the classic Scott songs. Credit has to go to "Mutt" Lange, who also produced "Highway To Hell", the band's last album with Scott. Apparently Mutt was meticulous in working with Johnson on the vocals to get them precisely the way he thought they needed to sound like. The result is a classic album littered with bangers, definitely in the upper echelon as one of the best hard rock/heavy metal albums of all-time (although your mileage may vary as to whether this is hard rock or heavy metal, I tend to lean towards the former). Call it whatever you want. It's remarkable that Mutt was able to build off the strength of his previous work with Angus and the boys with a brand new singer. Dude knows how to move some vinyl. Maybe it's the stupid hat that Brian Johnson always wears that bothers me.

Great!

Another great AC/DC album with big vocals and instrumentation. Tight production with a crisper sound and well-composed songs (hells bells). Full of hits. 4.4 Hells Bells / Shoot to Thrill / back in black/ shook me all night /

It's heavy, loud, and never lets up. The sound AC/DC pioneered, among others, has really become a staple of rock to this day. It's wild that we still get bands recycling the same style. Really only found a couple tracks I didn't enjoy fully here due to the lyrics coming off a little too "I'm horny" but I'm nitpicking and this is great.

This is a classic, so it's about time I listened to it. Overall good album, but nothing really stood out to me.

AC/DC is to rock what Swift is to pop, basic and consistant. Its not recolutionary but they're both great songwriter and have dropped a lot of bangers

This album definitely has the most recognisable AC/DC songs on it. But I’ve just never really understood the hype behind AC/DC. In terms of rock music they are fairly generic and didn’t bring anything new to the table. If you’ve heard one AC/DC song you’ve basically heard them all. This album gains points overall for having most of their best songs on it, but overall this is music for sporting events the same way Imagine Dragons is music for Jeep commercials. 3.5/5

Very good rock album. Favorite song is still You Shook Me All Night Long. Didn’t realize how many hits were on this one album!

i don’t love the AC/DC vocals but i mean this album is one of the most sold albums all time for a reason

Best debut from a second singer?

This is the best of the Brian Johnson albums, but I will forever die on the hill that every single album with Bon Scott is better

Not even gonna listen to this today because not only do I know every song, but I have heard them all so many times I'm about tired of them. Undeniably an incredible and jamming album nonetheless.

easy to listen, classic rock

A classic

BACK IN BLACK I HIT THE SACK

Gave it a 4 because it's full of anthems. Whether I like it or not.

Staple and solid music all around

Rock and roll doesn’t get more straightforward than this. Vocals that set the standard for hard rock and guitar that hits, screams, and growls. The soundtrack for high school parties.

Lot of good stuff on this album which makes it easy to ignore the filler. I'm sure this hit deeper in the 80's right after Bon Scott's death.

There's no denying that AC/DC can play big rock songs that are easy to like. And this one contains a bunch of them.

Simple, fast, loud, and anthemic. It's the hard rock that's tough, clear, and dark enough to not quite reach into metal territory like popular contemporaries Van Halen and Rainbow. More like Kiss and Journey, just as catchy and memorable, but better produced and less generic. The guitars are certainly the highlight, melodic and impactful, with awesome riffs and solos. New vocalist Johnson fills the role well - loud, aggressive, and distinct - although less versatile than his predecessor. As for the songs themselves, I think they're really good but certainly carried by the hits. A few of the deep cuts are pretty forgettable beyond a couple cool tricks. It's not innovative, but it makes up for its influence on the genre and high production value. This is my vote for their best album.

I never really got into AC/DC but this album is very good and deserves it`s popularity.

Great album and always been a favourite in our family. You Shook Me All Night Long is my highlight

Best Song: Shake a Leg. I've always liked the guitar riff, and it's strangely the most danceable AC/DC song. Worst Song: Let Me Put My Love Into You Babe. Absolutely one of the grossest euphemisms to come from a band that kind of revels in gross euphemisms. Also, "Don't you struggle, Don't you fight, Don't you worry cuz it's your turn tonight"? Jesus H. Overall: A massive album full of great rock songs that I'd be happy never hearing again. Perhaps unfair to call them a victim of their own success, but the amount that I've heard these songs played at every sporting venue and outdoor event means I can't stand to listen to them any more.

Lekker classic album. Beetje legendary ook he.

Classic

4/5 hard rock classic.

Never been a fan on Brian Johnson's ACDC but this was not as bad as I was expecting

Lol what a classic. I notice how much his voice reminds me of CCRB

Classic rock and an absolute banger of an album.

Solid rock album by AC/DC. These guys start off with a great intro song with hells bells and then fill the rest of the album with some fantastic hits. They’ve always been one of the better arena rock bands and I think this is one of their best albums. Very much enjoy this one and would listen again. 7.8/10

Masse moro! Låter fryktelig skilt og naivt, men gøy lell.

An album with many rock anthems and bangers. (8/10) FT: Back in Black, You Shook Me All Night Long

A fun rock album with some of AC/DC's most well-known tracks, including Hells Bells, Back in Black, and You Shook Me All Night Long. These guys weren't much for variety when it came to their sound (I like this music, for the record, but one has to admit there was a certain formula here), but you can't deny that they really perfected their own unique brand of hard-hitting arena rock on this album. Brian Johnson, making his debut with the band, is a worthy successor to Bon Scott, with his incredibly distinct, powerful vocal performances being the perfect accompaniment to Angus Young's high-flying solos and classic rock riffage.

What am I, 12 again?! The sexism is pretty blatant, but the guitar riffs I find immediately hookable. Back In Black into You Shook Me All Night Long is a classic 1-2 punch right in the middle of the album. Its just over so quick!

Never heard of it. You know, on this one, there's always something to carry you through. Whether it's a killer hook, incredible guitar work, or the sheer audacious stupidity of the song lyrics ('let me cut your cake with my knife' is some Spinal Tap-level shit), this never gets boring. I wouldn't say it's all killer, but it never loses me. And it's got a few all-time greats.

18th August 2022 Listened while pottering around the house, cleaning etc doing some work. Had the family round for dinner in the evening. Punchy and loud with electricity woven throughout. AC/DC are a jolt of fun.

Heerlijk, ieder nummer weer.

Wasn't really looking forward to this one, because I'm not a fan of their best known hits and not a fan of "pop metal" or arena rock in general. It was a lot better than expected and I actually quite enjoyed it as background music. My enjoyment varied between songs, with their hits being rather annoying (You Shook Me All Night Long being particularly annoying) and some of the deep cuts being the best (for instance the very bluesy closer Rock And Roll Ain't No Noise Pollution with a fantastic guitar solo).

A beast of an album, rollicking through without stopping for air

Great, feels like a "proper" album that's best listened to in it's entirety. lots of great songs in there, however I wouldn't have this on a regular playlist.

just ac/dc what can I say legendary

This album is great. I do think the songs all more or less sound the same, but they’re so good that I don’t really care.

This was good. I appreciated it. I worry about his vocal cords. Halfway through I checked to see how much more I had to get through.

C'est du rock

great to hear this again, didn't know it was the 2nd highest selling album ever, but why not?

4/5, but a low 4. Starts really well, the opening couple of tracks are great, then fades a little before the two absolute classics, Back In Black and You Shook Me All Night Long. Then fades again at the end. Won't come back to it as an album, but happy to have discovered the first two tracks.

Nonstop rock

I really should have written rock on instead, but hell yeah took forever to write out and I’m too lazy to change it. Good solid hard rock album. It gets my juices flowing and gives me FOMO that I have not seen AC/DC live. I was told once by a friend that saw them at Madison Square Garden that before he even left the concourse to go through the curtain into the arena, it was already the loudest show he’d ever been to. 🤘

Hello Bells is a great song my favourite from this band of which I'm not really a fan. But this a strong hard rock album. Some of the tunes are pretty banal; Give the Dog a Bone, Let Me Put My Love Into You...I mean really? Reminds me of Spinal Tap's Lick my Love Pump. But still a very strong album. 4 🌟

Classic rock with some big hits.

This does feel a bit more like what i think of when I think of AC/DC. Hells Bells is a great opener and the energy continues until it ramps up for Back In Black and You Shook Me All Night Long. Have a Drink on Me feels a bit on the nose since old mate died of Alcohol Poisoning but hey we're a drinking culture. Anyway, that's enough AC/DC for me for a while.

Damn, I thought I was kinda sick of cock rock by this point, but I guess the classics are (sometimes) classics for a reason. 10 tracks, all of them good, some of them brilliant, and none outstay their welcome.

Rating: 7/10 Best songs: Back in black

all of these track titles are about SHACK. enjoyed this way more than I was expecting to. some absolute bangers on it from a genre that i generally don't get on with and the donging from the bells is a great start to an album. I'm a sucker for a nice fat bell.

I'm not saying that I'm definitely going to fuck a horny MILF in my area to the backdrop of AC/DC, but I am currently filling in my details on a website. FUCK ME JANICE, 43, 9 MILES AWAY! FUCK ME TO HELLS BELLS!

Entertaining album some good songs on the album and easy to listen to

Back in black goated song

I wish I wrote these songs. These guys had a sound and performance style all their own. This album is rock and roll. This album is a party, every track a rager. After reading about the death of the original lead singer, this is even more of an accomplishment! If not for the misogynistic trappings of 80s rock lyrics, this would be a five-star right here!

Just a fun and incredibly horny rock record.

Back in Black is the soundtrack to my junior high. I loved this then and still do now.

Iconic album cover. The title track is, as the kids say, an all time banger. The whole thing is wall to wall sex-drenched rock and roll. A stunningly strong album, not even considering the circumstances. Not all the songs have aged that well -- I'm looking at you, Let Me Put My Love Into You and Money Honey and ... well, most of them, really -- but that's easy to overlook given how hard the entire album rocks. The pinnacle of its genre.

This was actually very good. It is exactly what I was expecting and it was exactly what I wanted. There really is not a bad song on here.

Not my favorite from the band. Good classic rock album with catchy singles. It's deserve to be in top 1001 for sure!

Start to finish fun - it’s a party album albeit tinged with mild schoolboy misogyny. but that riff from the title track oooof what a punch in your beer gut - never fails to make you want to rock out. It’s compact and kicking. Like the AC/DC rhythm section

It really rocks! (Did not know this album in total, a pleasant surprise!)

This one rocks hard and the production is excellent. I love 80’s albums that lack synths.

A bit overrated but still good, 3.75

I wasn't sure if I had listened to this album in full before. Most I already knew, because they are huge hits, but some I hadn't. "Rock & Roll Ain't Noise Pollution" is a great choice to end the album. There's so much strong guitar work here, some really memorable lyrics and melodies. No surprise it's on this list!

I was REALLY into this album and band as a teenager. I think I wore myself out on AC/DC, as I have not really listened to them or this album much in the last decade or so. That said, this has reminded me that this album rocks from start to finish -- there isn't a single skip for me. I'm really excited to be listening to it again.

A monster of a rock album.

some real bangers on here

Relentless is a good word for this album. While slightly repetitive, it's filled with head thrashing bangers that anyone could get behind.

Great album. Probably my favorite by AC/DC. Not much more to say about it.

Well known hits. Rocks. Not deep or meaningful.

AC/DC are like Motorhead, in that they keep making the same album over and over again. Normally I have a strong preference for Motorhead and AC/DC leaves me cold, but this play through actually really worked for me. Maybe it's getting more exposure to it? Fave track - "Back in Black", for sure. "You Shook Me All Night Long" also has some fondness, as it's a good karaoke tune...

A rock classic. Sleazy sexual innuendo, driving drums and MONSTROUS RIFFS. One of rock's greatest albums.

Kinda got a little tired of this style, but still a good classic

Hard to rate this one, in terms of enjoyment it's a 3. Not my style of rock, but objectively it's a 4 or 5, so I'll split the difference at 4. An album full of bangers and likely the template for a lot of heavy metal/rock albums to date. Lots of the songs are so ingrained in my American psyche I can't separate them from various movies, bars, and various people I've ran into.

classic

Loads of energy, loads of charisma, some questionable lyrics, but an overall a solid album with some iconic hits

This is the type of album for those who are here for a good time, not a long time. AC/DC's first release of the Brian Johnson-era could not have been more appropriate and honoring to the legacy of Bon Scott. Their similarities in vocal style makes them nearly indistinguishable at times, but we do hear the differences at first, but what AC/DC managed to do here is to maintain familiarity of their vocal style with Brian Johnson. You know the singers are different, but the sound is familiar and their energy is preserved. As history would suggest, AC/DC was able to continually raise their profile and become one of the most celebrated rock bands in music history. Title track "Back in Black" is a fine example where Bon and Brian are virtually indistinguishable during the chorus, but we can hear less of Bon's raspiness during the verses. This would be the theme as we pay attention to such detail, but AC/DC was never Bon Scott and it has never been Brian Johnson, it has always been about their sound, and the men behind it. We salute those men who have done more than their fair share of rock.

Energetic wow!

Classic, What I think when I hear "Classic Rock"

A rock 'n roll classic packed full of hits. Hits that have been overplayed on the radio, in movies, in stadiums, in bars...

Rock n roll as hell

Top tier AC/DC. As always both the lyrics and delivery are a little, well, Meathead. But as far as that kind of thing goes, no one really did it better.

AccaDacca! If you're looking for the quintessential Australian Rock album, this has got to be one of the top ones for sure. It has classic tracks, hard-nosed guitar riffs and solos that will get your head bopping and ears bleeding! Best: Hell's Bells; Back in Black Worst: Shake A Leg

pretty good the title track is a classic and the whole album is pretty entertaining 8/10

Loved the tunes…. Classic Rock

This rock rocks

Powerful driving rhythms, Johnson voice unique. Not usually my genre, but I have a soft spot for this album. Saw them alongside the Who, Stranglers, Nils Lofgren at old Wembley Stadium in 1980

Ghost should cover "Hells Bells" how awesome would that be... Shoot To Thrill is also a perfect cheesedick rock song. Cheesedick rock was a genre that was so well represented for so long that it's weird that it's mostly extinct nowadays. Anyway, this is a great album that is always fun to listen to. I can't think of a better encapsulation of the merits of cheesedick rock.

legendary

Feels like a 4, even the title track alone means it deserves a 4, but some other good tunes too. Hells Bells and Shook Me All Night Long. 4/5

Must have one of the best opening songs to an album. Great album.

Can't deny this has bangers

Not quite a 5 for me. Some amazing rock songs and even the lesser tracks have a great energy

Yeah, a classic rock album. Great riffs and songs, amazing musicians, lyrics that have not aged well.

Very good, the first part of this album is awsome Has a lot of classic songs, a really good record from an hip hop fan 7.5-8 out of 10.

I've never listened to the whole album before.

Classic

First album with Brian Johnson replacing Bon Scott. Iconic songs and album to be honest. The vocals, I am well suited to so I don't mind. Very honestly an album you DO need to listen to before you die. A vibe and I played air guitar to this while sick. lovely album. Strong 4 to 5 man. 4+/5

AC/DC's iconic roaring sound is exactly the throwback I needed. I stg Brian Johnson's vocals defined an era of movie soundtracks. I honestly don't have a seasoned enough ear to be able to meaningfully discern the characteristics of each track, so they all just felt like additional servings of the same thing (which is a good thing). That being said, I did have a couple stick out a lil ⬇️ // Favs: Back In Black (duh) / You Shook Me All Night Long Score: Decent 4

Good quality rock 🤘

AKA: Captain Crunch's Oops! All Berries Apollo didnt want to listen. So I am. "Let Me Put My Love Into You" is my fave so far. "You Shook Me All Night Long" is still the most romantic song of all time. Overall much more solid than I remember.

Solid album. Too many misogynistic lyrics for my liking but I loved the simple rock n roll.

I did not expect to like this album as much as I did listening to it again. Really just kind of the next step after Led Zeppelin. A bit more obviously horny but just killer guitar tone and driving drums and bass.

Full of cringe-inducing, problematic lyrics. But if you ignore that, 4-stars.

Brilliant album. Not given it 5 star because there are better albums on the list that I've already rated 5 star.

Some classic songs and a brilliant album but some repetiveness stops me from throwing out the full five

oh yeah now we're talking!!!! this is a REAL mans music right here let me tell you !! oh yeah oh yeah!!!!!

Very solid album with a lot of hits. I didn't find any songs that I liked more than the ones I had already saved, but I enjoyed all of them. Already Saved: Shoot to Thrill, Back In Black, You Shook Me All Night Long Saved After Listening: Hells Bells

I'm willing to overlook Brian Johnson's vocals due to the Young brother's ability to put on a blues-based hard rock clinic. Have a Drink on Me is my favorite AC/DC song, and there's several other classics here as well. Brian's voice does grate though after a while; he's best enjoyed in small doses.

Bunch of popular songs on here. They're good and I like their catalog but just in general it's just constant screaming and the songs often sound the same. 8/10.

I don’t think I’ve ever listened to a whole AC/DC album before so this was fun. This album, well, rocks! Stand out tracks: Shoot to Thrill, Let Me Put My Love in You and, of course, Back in Black and Hells Bells! HB might be one of the best rock album openers ever.

Probably the AC/DC album with more hits?

OOOOOOOOFFF a classic, voice gets a little annoying by the end though. rock out of 5

A true classic, need say no more! \m/

Enjoyed this, turns out I like 80s metal more than I thought. Would love to see them live.

A classic. Hells Bells, Shoot to Thrill, Back in Black, You Shook me all night long, lots of hits.

Sounds better than i remember it.

Nostalgia... fun to listen to now and then.

Fuck YES!

Album kicked ass, kept the energy high. Every song sounded like a hit to me.

I forgot how much the first twenty seconds of Back in Black absolutely slap.

Every song follows the same formula. Luckily the formula is rad.

Amazing

Little repetitive but got some real classic.

It's my first time listening to this album in it's entirety, it's a lot more soothing than I thought it would be.

Pure rock

Solid classic rock album; everyone knows the hits. Vocal style isn’t my favorite but I can’t dislike the rock.

This is right on the cusp of 5. The reason I went 4 is because this much AC/DC is a lot in a row

Cool album. High energy over the top rock and roll. All the songs sound pretty much the same. Lyrics are a little mediocre but the album rocks.

Some of these songs were much longer than I expected, and very similar to each other. Still a classic.

Finally, the unification of Satan and sophomoric innuendo that the people were clamoring for! A solid album all the way through, despite the fact that I find the lyrics to "Give the Dog a Bone" personally distasteful. I can also picture Richard Ramirez really feeling the lyrics to "Let Me Put My Love Into You." Apart from those issues, the album is insanely high energy with some really high points. So many rock n' roll classics in one album 4/5

Lotta classic, not much to dislike

Classic, in some ways the definition of rock and roll. Love it.

Classic metal album, timeless bangers!

Can’t help but feel like I’d enjoy all these songs if they were sung by someone else

Classic rock. Not really my cup of tea but the guitar work is really catchy. The vocal melodies are also nice and catchy even though the style of vocals isn't really something I like listening to for a prolonged period of time. Maybe the vocals are the reason I don't like this more than I do. Overall, quite catchy and simple songs. I can see why it is rated highly.

Sound like what 'trying to be Cool' would sound like: slow, impactful, groovy riffs - what I would image to be true rock music. Songs morph into one - almost like background music: vocals don't have much variety or range, drums have no identity, riffs are cool but too similar.

Fun, mas raso

When AC/DC hit, they hit.

Has moments of greatness, has moments of boredom.

solid album, just not that big an AC/DC fan, i wish i could get into it more. i appreciate its status as a solid heavy rock founder and favourite tho

i felt that a lot of the songs sounded a bit too similar

A : 3, Shook JL : 2, Best: Back in Black

I don't like AC/DC. But this is their best collection of bangers.

At the end of the day this genre of music is basically musical theatre for straight male boomers. I don't mind a bit of a musical theatre and this album is fun at times. Ultimately though, it gets pretty repetitive pretty quickly.

Another album that I've long known about with several classics that I've known forever. Hells bells was the ringtone for my dad for a long time lol. The story behind this album make it that much more fascinating. To lose a front man and come back with a bigger hit than ever is kind of unfathomable to me.

AC/DC literally does one thing and they do it slightly better than okay. Even as a hard rock and metal kid in high school in the 80s I thought they were boring but at 15 or 16 I thought their lyrics were clever. Now in my 50s they're boring and juvenile

this sounded exactly how i expected it to sound.

pensais ca allait etre meilleur ço best: GIVIN THE DOG A BONE worst: jsp

flabalright

when I enter the yelling non sens in a high pitch voice and my competition is AC/DC bs: you shook me all night long ws: rock and roll is noise pollution

You can't deny this album is a hit when so many classic songs are on it. Fun 80s vibe, makes me think of Dean Winchester and how can either of those things be wrong? I won't rate it higher than a 3 because personally I know I won't seek out to listen again but I did like it, and if any of the songs came on the radio I would sing along.

Not my cup of tea, but fun in parts. Drumming was tight and some of the guitar riffs were good. But generic rock. Don't enjoy lyrics about men leering over ladies.

That cannae be AC/DC. If a guitar comes in here in a minute it's unbelievable. It is. It's Hells Bells, AC/DC. Oh man. Cannae beat a bit of AC/DC man.

Great rock album, not my thing.

makes me think that i unfortunately will never own nor ride a harley davidson. it does rock though, just a flavor of rock i appreciate and respect a lot but enjoy a little less than a lot. that being said every note of the title track is iconic. favorite song is Let Me Put My Love Into You, that riff is just so nasty. strong 3

Favourite tracks: Hells Bells, Shoot To Thrill, Shake a Leg The actual riffs themselves are amazing, love them. But the voice irks me with how strained it is. Impressive he can sing like that for so long but it does get old fast for me. 3/5

I remember I used to really like this album. Listening to it for the first time in many years I was surprised to find myself not really enjoying it. Probably the biggest issue for me was the vocals, I found them very grating. Less surprising to find the lyrics not always holding up. I still enjoyed the music, and the hits still hit though. 3/5

I think I owned this album on CD when I was younger, which would make it a first of its kind on this list for me. This is classic AC/DC—nothing more, nothing less. There is this joke that AC/DC has basically made the same song over and over again for the last 50 years, but in small quantities it just works! There is no denying they are one of the biggest rock bands of all time. Many sound engineers actually use this album to do sound checks for festivals, so production-wise, it hit a level that became a reference point for the future.

Classic sound. Hard to separate the sound from back in black single and the locations the song is played in (baseball games).

i've heard Hells Bells, Back in Black and You Shook Me All Night Long on the radio in the past, but nothing else Hells Bells - 4/5 Shoot to Thrill - 4/5 What Do You Do for Money Honey - 1/5 Given the Dog a Bone - 3/5 Let Me Put My Love Into You - 3/5 Back in Black - 5/5 You Shook Me All Night Long - 5/5 Have a Drink on Me - 4/5 Shake a Leg - 3/5 Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution - 4/5 Average score: 3.6/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ it has it's good moments, mostly the tracks i had already heard in the past. i think my biggest gripe about most of these tracks is Brian Johnson's vocals. at times, his vocal range is really impressive. other times, it's absolutely grating and i can't stand to listen anymore (What Do You Do for Money Honey was particularly atrocious) i was never as crazy about AC/DC, but i think i preferred Bon Scott (rip). that being said, regardless of my preference for vocalists, it's cool that the group was able to make such an epic comeback after an event that would've ended most other bands, so kudos to AC/DC 👏

Don’t get me wrong, I love AC/DC! But, upon listening to this, every song basically sounded the same except for the two mega hits on it. But I will always get up and dance to Back in Black and You Shook Me All Night Long whenever I hear them!

Much more my style of music but holy shit his voice is sooooooooooooooooooooooo annoying. It's like smashing pumpkins in the way that the band is ruined by the vocalist (except I would say smashing pumpkins is a more severe case because their music is REALLY good versus AC/DC being somewhat generic in comparison). If you ignore the vocals (you cant) the album is really fun to listen to. I love rock!!! I don't mind the strained high vocals if it isn't the whole time/actually sounds good. I didn't realize this was a different vocalist to the original guy so I will have to listen to highway to hell to compare but I really can't do it with this guy. Some bangers on this tracklist and he just makes me not want to listen to them which is so sad. I don't know how to rank this, being that it's much more of an album I like (rock) but I hate his vocals but if you ignore it I really really like this album so. Idk. Iconic album, caters to my likes in almost all respects, but I can't in my heart give this a 4 star rating because i hate hate hate the vocals so much this shit is so irritating. I have no idea what I'm doing with this rating system at this point because in a way i enjoy this more than a few other albums that I ranked a 3 but I cannot rank this a 3 in my heart. Maybe Back in Black is a purgatory album. Iconic and Irritating. The thing is I don't remember his vocals being so disgustingly torn in the worst way possible. I love a nasty vocal but this is just bad. Harmonies sound weird and out of sync. Just unpleasant and I can't get past it anymore. The title track can get away with it I think, weirdly enough. But power chords and riffs yum! I'm a fiend for this basic ass rock formula </3 Perhaps a 3 is the perfect middle of the road rating. I love this shit rock vibe but his voice is so much worse than I ever remember. Actually the further and longer I listen to this album the more pissed off I get. Shut up rip off Robert Plant I hate you and your basic ass riffs shut up shut up shut up

Never actually gave AC DC much of a listen but soon as I heard the Hells Bells intro I remember listening to this album at 14 for the first time. Sadly didn’t make the impact other old rock albums did

First time in years hearing it. Bit of a dissapointment, really. Lots of songs are a bit weak and low energy

As jarring as it was to hear a new singer with AC/DC Johnson’s voice here is at its peak and fits perfectly with the rift laiden rock n roll . Great album that unfortunately is rife with horrific misogyny and the constant objectification, if not actual predatation, of women. “Giving the dog a bone” is the weakest song of the album . But even here Johnson’s vocals are good in the second half of the song and the tight rhythm section drags it along at pace. 4 musically but a 2 lyrically. If one stops and analyses it .

If you want a kid to discover the joys of music, play them some AC/DC. Eminently accessible, surface level rock. Maybe skip the song where they describe an assault though.

Very cool stuff with the bell in Hells Bells. Questionable vocals. Pretty hardcore bruh, I don't really listen to this kind of music but I enjoy it. Anything to drag the music dawg. Shoot to Thrill is catchy, nice guitar and vocals, simple but good. What Do You Do for Money Honey is aight, not much to say dawg. Givin the Dog a Bone is also okay. Let Me Put My Love Into You has an amazing intro, very chill. Everybody has listened to Back in Black in their lives at least once its so peak, amazing guitar playing though hawt dayum. You Shook Me All Night Long is lovely, absolute cinema. Have a Drink on Me is pretty good. I feel like halfway through the album they decided to lock in. Shake a Leg is also a banger, what are they feeding this guitarist holy moly. Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution to finish it off, and this was a perfect song to end the album. Amazing.

I liked this! It was a little more rock forward than I would normally go but good vibes

I'm going to rate this slightly lower than I originally thought I would. Yes it's a classic, yes the singles are bangers, but the album experience left me underwelmed. And don't get me started with the overplayed aspect of Shook Me and Back in Black. The lyrics of most of the songs don't get me either. Fantasitc start and finish, Hell's Bells is for sure one of my favorite hard rock songs and Shoot to Thrill is really fun. Can't say much about the rest.

Dramatic opening. Back in Black. (10 songs, 41 mins)

A guitar standard

Pretty consistent album. Don't really feel like there was a bad song. There just wasn't really much that stood out for my personal taste

AC/DC has never been my cup of tea but you can hear why people like them. There are some undeniable classics on the album. They are still great songs and I can appreciate that people like them.

2.5 stars I thought I hadn’t listened to this album before. But when I put this on I unlocked a core memory. Freshman year of high school, the senior who gave me rides essentially made Jack Black’s School of Rock character into his personality. He only listened to classic rock. It was Guns n Roses, Led Zeppelin, the Doors, and this album that he would play and sing/air guitar along to. So I had heard the album before. But why had I forgotten that? Well, like I said about Highway to Hell, it’s generic hard rock. Classic tunes. You’ve heard them in dozens of action movie trailers. But as listening content in and if itself, I don’t see myself listening to this on my own.

guy who's only ever heard the school of rock soundtrack, listening to back in black: getting a lot of school of rock vibes from this...

AC/DC is an icon. Featured in Tony Hawk Pro Skater. Great album!

Two classics on this album in Back in Black and You Shook Me All Night Long, but there wasn’t too much else that caught my attention. It broadly seems like they tried to make the same song 10 times, there just isn’t enough variation to make this more than 3*.

An enjoyable enough album, with heavy hitters like the title track and 'You Shook Me All Night Long', I was quite fond of the opener 'Hells Bells'. I wasn't always massively keen on the vocals, but it didn't ruin the album. Overall, though, I can't say I enjoyed the album enough to give it anything higher than a 3.

Look, I am a Bon Scott fan through and through. I know that without Brian Johnson we would never had hits like Back in Black and Thunderstruck or Hell's Bells. This is probably peak Johnson. AC/DC beyond this is really just Angus doing the same thing he did for the entirety of his career.

Has some great hits on it. I think I prefer the earlier albums from ACDC, but this was solid too. There are a few too many tracks that amount to a man singing about his sex life and it got a bit stale in the middle, but overall a decent album.

Growing up this what I associated with AC/DC and it wasn’t until I was older that I learned their older stuff was way better. I never liked this band because of this record. Sure the title song is solid but the rest is just lowest common denominator hard rock.

solid album good rock eyseys

"Back in Black" showcases AC/DC at the height of their popularity. It was the first album featuring singer Brian Johnson, who had replaced Bon Scott, who had passed away five months earlier. In 1979, the band had achieved their definitive international breakthrough with "Highway to Hell", a success that they now effortlessly replicated despite the significant change in line-up. "Back in Black" became, in effect, the blueprint for all subsequent AC/DC albums and for 1980s hard rock. Musically, there was nothing new; instead, the band perfected their sound: riff-driven compositions in a blues scheme, with lyrics revolving around ‘real men’s themes’: women, alcohol, heaven and hell, rise and fall, and rock ’n’ roll. If you set aside the well-known tracks ‘Hells Bells’, ‘Back in Black’, "You Shook Me All Night Long" and "Rock and Roll Ain’t Noise Pollution", what remains is run-of-the-mill AC/DC. From today’s perspective, it’s almost unintentionally comical in its clichéd nature, but clichés are an integral part of hard rock culture. Even if the music is a bit dull over the course of the album. But if it’s AC/DC, then this album or its predecessor. You really don’t need to know any more than that.

Goblin man rocks out

High 3, pretty good . Generic rock, not special but higher than 3.

Perfect classic rock album but man have I heard some of these songs too much and it really weighs down the experience, plus I always liked Bon Scott more

Great at what it does. Ultimately it just isn’t my thing and I since I’m not really tuned to the intricacies of rock music it all sounds the same.

menos que los Rollings.. lloralo Benicio
