Reviews (page 8 of 14)
What a great rock and roll album. Hells Bells, Shoot to Thrill, Back in Black, You Shook Me All Night Long, Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution...Sure the vocals and guitar can be screetchy but this is an all-timer. 8.5/10 (4.25/5)
Enjoyable - I guess I like AC/DC more than I thought.
Odio a AC/DC pero he de reconocer que este álbum no está mal
the album is pretty much the same song on repeat , but plenty of screeching fun. 4
Classics like the title track and Hells Bells but some clunkers like Shake A Leg. Like marmite you'll either love or hate the AC/DC sound.
classic rock
A classic rock album, timeless and will always hit.
Great classics that always hit and feel sexyyy
Daym he SCREECHES. But the booty rocks to the rhythm. I have a feeling that this has influenced at least some of Electric Six. Honestly, quite a bit better than I expected. Won't be listening to this on repeat, but did not hate the experience.
I wasn't a fan of AC/DC when I was younger, but as I got older, I learned to appreciate the raw Rock and Roll that they are and what they did for the genre as well as metal. Back in Black is a fun listen, and I think it is well deserving of praise for doing something powerful and heavy yet appealing to so many people that wouldn't normally listen to a man screaming as much as singing.
They sure were
Most songs sound the same, but there’s so many big songs that I can’t give it less than 4 stars.
01) Hells Bells - 8,0 02) Shoot to Thrill - 7,5 03) What Do You Do for Money Honey - 7,5 04) Given the Dog a Bone - 7,5 05) Let Me Put My Love into You - 8,0 06) Back In Black - 10,0 07) You Shook Me All Night Long - 10,0 08) Have a Drink on Me - 8,0 09) Shake A Leg - 8,0 10) Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution - 10,0 TOTAL: 8,45 (85/100) Current ranking: 71/350
a solid album full of classics.
The good is great
yeah!!!
It’s funny to imagine these lads being young men. I always just picture them as old men in school uniform singing silly songs. Either way, some tunes on here. Simpsons: Yes
These guys know how to rock, you can't deny that, and I agree rock and roll isn't noise pollution. But I feel like this album doesn't quite do enough for top marks.
I feel dad rock falls on a spectrum of if a dad were to be driving me somewhere and he played this band do I think we’ll have a good chat or will he say stuff that was acceptable in the 70s but isn’t so much nowadays. This falls into the latter but it’s still solid music. It’s dumb and load but it does that well.
If you want your audience to like and accept a new lead singer, release an album like this. To start off with church bells and lyrics paying homage to Bon Scott, then transitioning to track after track of high-energy rock that is addicting and memorable is stellar. I actually had to dust off my sticks and go back to drum along with Back in Black, so take my 5 stars already.
I haven’t listened to AC/DC properly before
First album on this list I don’t mind being repetitive
Rock, 1980 -> 4
Every track is a hit, amazing. 4.5
Better than I expected
I will never listen to this again but it’s impossible to deny that this is a good album.
They really just do their thing, don't they? I imagine it's incredibly fun to do on stage and that translates. Do a lot of the songs sound the same? Sure. But the hits are mega hits for a reason.
These songs sound like fun to play. 4/5
Good
Listened too often. First reaction was a 2 - but that‘s not fair after all the playhours
When i fancy a bout of ear bleeding and a blinding headache i will reach for this album (or any other AC/DC album as they all sound the same!) strap up my air guitar and school satchel, shorts on top off and away i go. Good stuff and i salute you. 4/5 30/9/24
yeah I'm back
I like this album a lot, doesn’t mean that it’s exceptionL. AC:DC music in general is simplistic and loud and off color, Back in Black is no exception. There was a time when every other walk up song was AC/DC
consistent
It's fundamental, basic, and timeless. This may not be the first, but it is still the most prototypical hard rock album. People love the songs on this record so much, and have heard them so many times in movies, TV shows and at sporting events (and for me growing up they were a staple of school dances), that they don’t have to think about them anymore. They’re just part of the experience. Which is good, because the lyrics (such as they are) don’t really matter. It’s all about loud, bold, power chord, blow your socks off rock (but in the best possible way). 4⭐️
reminds me of dad
My first childhood band obsession was AC/DC, former expert checking in here. New lead singer Brian Johnson is here and he brought some of the most momentous arena rock of all time with him. It’s hard to think of another band that had a lead singer pass away, and have a graceful replacement take the band (so quickly) and elevate its sound like Brian does here. I really respect their decision to take heavy rock aesthetics, package them into a pop box, and not be gentle in introducing you to their new identity. Kinda ballsy to make the first song after Bon Scott’s passing (RIP) “Hell’s Bells”, but they practically HAD to - that song is meant to be an album opener. The only glaring reduction of this albums greatness is what any post-1980 AC/DC record can be criticized for - each song sticks to a tried & true formula; that formula can get a bit mundane, especially to the ears of a younger generation. Additionally, some lyrics and innuendos are very corny and aged, but that’s sadly par for the course for this genre. Man. What a total “dudes rock” album. Such a stellar tone-setter. One of the best album openers ever. And such a great closer to the record as well! I feel like it’s sound is a bit of an homage to Bon Scott, blending the new cutting-edge heavy sound with something slightly bluesy/twangy/lazy — a sound they had perfected by the end of the 70’s.
Really heavy sounds, aggressive lyrics, mostly screamed. Lots of machismo, misogynistic, unnuanced. Hard for me to listen to, but I think that's what they wanted. Even when I was that age I'd have had a hard time with it (except hells bells maybe). Have to admit they're good at what they're doing, I just don't care for it.
AC/DC, yup, this is them, exactly what I'd expect.
Another fairly solid AC/DC album. I am not sure it brings anything new to the table from the last one we had. But it was still fairly solid rock and roll.
Some classics here.
AC/DC is always a blast to listen to and this album is no different.
Hell yeah ahh album, goated tho
Very good, the hits are huge, they nailed a specific sound, but you can just listen to like the 3-4 hits vs. the whole album here.
疯狂轰头
CLASSIC DAD/HARD ROCK, HOW COULD I HATE???? 9/10
Never understood why Side 2 wasn't Side 1, it's great song after great song. A friend bought this for his brother when it came out and I remember thinking it was lame...without listening to it. How wrong I was. One of the greatest comeback albums.
One of the most classic rock albums of all time. What AC/DC lack in technical complication and poetic nuance, they make up for with straight testosterone and riffs. I remember listening to this in the car with my mom in middle school and being obsessed with AC/DC growing up. Incredible album to make immediately following the death of their front man Bon Scott. Long live Angus Young \m/
So many hits, but it was one of the songs I'd maybe only heard a couple times that got me. Let Me Put My Love Into You, Babe was vocally different and stood out in the listen.
Awesome album, but not reaching the greatness that the name recognition suggests it should.
Klassiker dabei
A/C/D/C's Back in Black: A Guitar-Driven Masterpiece Few bands have achieved the feat of following up one iconic album with another. A/C/D/C, however, defied expectations with Back in Black, a powerhouse record that showcases their raw energy and undeniable talent. Angus Young's guitar work is nothing short of legendary, delivering riff after riff that will leave you breathless. From the explosive "Hells Bells" to the anthemic "Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution," every track on this album is a classic. Back in Black is a must-have for any rock music fan.
Banger of an album. Four massive classic arena rock songs with some great deep cuts. What's not to love?
Pretty cool to someone who doesn’t listen to much rock. Good gym soundtrack
Back In Black is an album that i do quite like. For some reason, i remember some songs from this album sounding different like the title track feeling a bit softer than i remember, it is still a good song regardless. The other tracks here are also pretty solid and are often staples of classic rock radio stations that i listen to on occasion with none of them being ones i don't really want to listen to at that given time. Apparently, here is also where i learned that this band is Australian because prior to knowing this, i just thought they were from the United States, at least their music kinda gave me that vibe. This is still a pretty great album that i will always be more than happy to listen to Best Song: Have A Drink On Me Worst Song: Shoot To Thrill
Fun if you don’t think too much. Low 4.
fire.
7/10 - The popular songs are pretty good, the less popular songs are alright. I liked Hells Bells and thought it was cool bc one of the critical role parties is called Bells Hells, after one of the characters who died, and I guess it was partially named after this song.
Listened Before? Y A pure hard rock classic. Heavy, catchy, and highly influential. More refined than their earlier work, and much more mainstream friendly. Added to Library? N Songs added to playlist: Hell's Bells
Hell yeah! Just my stuff, love it. Definitly has a distinctive sound, but a little one-note.
If you ever need to run through a brick wall, put this album on.
Effective rock and roll. I'm not sure I can tell the difference between singer eras. Songs on this are pretty memorable, especially coming out from under the tragic loss of a lead singer. As these boys do: lotsa double entendre and simple yet swinging drum beats, with excellent riffs and rhythm guitar from Malcom who I did not recall had tragically died with dementia...
Stupidly, hilariously bombastic. Formulaic, but man, what a formula. Excellent
In high school one of my friends said he “liked music without sexual overtones, like AC/DC” we played the album and just about got to “Givin the dog a bone” before he realized his mistake
I refuse to believe people actually find this good. It Was supposedly banned from my region on Apple Music so I had to listen to the entire album on YouTube where the comments hyped it up. Clearly in the minority? It’s not good
One of the most popular reviews of this, is how simple the construction of songs turns out to be. Pick a popular phrase, add a power chord, call it a day. I completely agree. But it just works.
What time is it? It's banger time. Really, a very stupid album by what I suspect are some quite silly people, but then you get smashed around the face by You Shook Me All Night Long and the title track, and you have to accept that you're rocking down to your stocking.
This is what they mean when they say "Rock hard hard rockin' rock music". Brian Johnson's voice went to hell and back for this one. Gruieat Guitar. Impossible not to rack out.
Hell yeah
Pretty classic, consistent all the way through and just a fun vibe. I would bump this in a muscle car or eighties convertible any day.
Classic
good stuff. I like acdc, but this wasnt as good as highway to hell
I love so many of the songs on this album that I can’t not rate it highly. But I’ve never listened to AC/DC for 42 minutes straight before, and I gotta say, it came with some ear fatigue. This project has been teaching me this. I used to think I was the kind of person who could listen to music 24/7, but albums like this make me need an ear break haha.
Hard Rock y a pesar de Back in Black uno que nunca había escuchado antes.
This showed up one day before me going to the Power Up Tour 2024 concert in Hannover. Nice coincidence!
Hell yeah.
Brian Johnson's first album with the band and the best
If only Bon had sung these songs.
It's AC/DC, they're really cool
Always loved the guitar tone
Good album for the most part. You Shook Me All Night Long is a favorite. Don’t care for the lyrics in some songs.
I would hope everyone likes AC⚡️DC. Fabulous riffs and catchy hooks; metal you can dance to and that doesn't take itself too seriously. Happily, their legacy is assured. Already knew this album from my youth, great to hear it again. They're one band where I happily overlook the daft lyrics, because they feel utterly unthreatening. Sheer entertainment.
Bong! Love it
Fantastic Rock
Iconic
Really great album
dirty but I love it 8.5/10
Surpprised i liked it so much
3.8/5 listened 3x. classic but a little overplayed
You can’t dislike an album with hells bells, back in black and you shook me all night long. Fun
I never go out of my way to listen to AC/DC, but I’m never disappointed when I do.
It pumped me up
37eme album généré et premier que je connais ! J'ai découvert le hard rock avec AC/DC dans les années 80, avec Highway To Hell puis Back In Black. Un vrai plaisir à ré-écouter, même si mes gouts musicaux ont évolué depuis vers un métal plus énervé. => 4/5
Cerebral? No. Fun? Fuck yes!
i do not like classic rock but many people do so i am to blame i guess
Svårt att inte uppmärksamma jämnheten i detta album. Bara bra låtar? Det som, lite orättvist, talar emot plattan är att det är jämntjockt. Och sett till hela karriären är det lika lika. Brian Johnson är lysande.
A fun and reckless array of loud metal. Tame in today’s terms but a powerhouse of songs that all move the listener
Hard rock classic. Can't be denied.
Does it sound like a beer commercial? Is it stupidly horny? Is it just fun? Yeah to all. The band that sold a thousand SGs. It plays like a greatest hits, and the recording is fantastic. It might not be my cup of every day tea, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nodding my head. Favorite tracks: "You Shook Me All Night Long", "Hell's Bells", "Have A Drink On Me"
A stone cold classic
What can I say that hasn't been said already? Back in black was and still is a phenomenal album that has more than stood the test of time.
maybe a 3 but giving it a 4 out of respect
There are some absolute classics on this album, but nothing really moves beyond that sound. You Shook Me is by far the best track, and it's the only one that deviates from the formula used in the rest of the album.
It's AC/DC. They have one sound, but it's a good one.
This is the complete opposite to the one I had to listen to before, Radiohead's Kid A. But this is the timeless essence of Rock, broad legged machismo, fun, pretentiousness, to be despised if you do not take it as a show. But if you take it as such, it becomes quintessential showtime, and if you don't take it for serious but from an artsy perspective, it even becomes perfect irony. Apart from that: great songwriting and arrangements stripped to the essentials. I love it (obviously)
2 songs in rn but I see why they are popular
Stupidity belongs in rock.
AC/DC is a band that is very good at what they do. They never try to change, and sure it's not a band that is going to stand out for it's depth. But they rock, and this is probably their peak
Great album! Every song is a banger. There's been so much said about this album already that I don't need to say anything else.
Great album, overplayed songs.
Good classic rock album, obviously Back in Black is the best song. Listening to the lyrics, most songs are about the same thing. Great tone tho
4 absolute classic rock album. Yeah it’s follows the AC/DC formula but it works. Do however prefer bon’s vocals to Brian’s
Great, classic album
YEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Favourite track: yes
Same song a bunch of times 4/5
Да, это жоска. В целом то альбом неплох, но конкретно у этой группы все песни очень похожи...однотипно как то. 7/10.
4/5 Listened to this yesterday on my walk. Ha!
Actually a bop but also not boppy in the boppy sense
A golden album with a lot of great ACDC songs. My favorites being Shoot To Thrill, Back In Black and What Do You Do For Money Honey.
7.5/10 First metal album that I’ve genuinely enjoyed. What’s different to the others? Good tunes, great choruses, a singer that actually pulls off the metal voice Add that to clearly not being pompous and self-serious and this is a bit of a winner Recognised a few of these Best: let me put my love into you
Was just talking to my buddy the other day that the opening to Hell's Bells is up there as one of the best openings to a rock song/album. This album fuckin rocks, I'd even argue it helped define what it means to rock. Brian Johnson's first AC/DC album I think.
liked this more than i thought I would. surprised that was the 2nd or 3rd best selling album of all time
It's AC/DC, you know what te expect and that's what you get. Solid album
Classic.
Classic
7/10. A classic album for sure with a lot of guitar talent but I think less musical genius than they get credit for. And Brian Johnson’s voice annoys me for this long of a period listening to him. Still too many classic songs to not give it a 7.
Awesome. Had it playing on a cross country drive. I’d forgotten how many bangers there were on the album.
“Hells Bells,” “You Shook Me All Night Long,” and “Back in Black” made this album an all timer. There are some other awesome, but forgettable songs on here.
Several bangers, fairly consistent album. Lacks diversity.
It's a phenomenal album but It feels like just several singles strung out together over the same rock theme. There was not much experimentation here, but then again what do you expect...
Oh my gosh, yes! I was very excited about getting an album that I am perfectly familiar with, and that would be this album, among others of course. AC/DC was my favourite band when I was in high school but I still love jamming to their music and know pretty much all of their songs perfectly. I am very biased for this album.
Man, some parts of some songs were pushing me towards a five rating. But overall, solid, enjoyable rock-n-roll.
Second best selling album of all time! Seriously?! There's some weighty competition out there. #1 is Thriller. Didn't see a Beatles album in the top 10. This is hard slammin', frenetic, noisy fun time, with some really flashy guitar work, sort of like Zeppelin without any nuance or layering. I could see this as one of the roots of Punk Rock.
This album has 5 songs with lyrics only appealing in a middle school boys locker room, and 5 other songs where that's also true but rock so hard it doesn't matter.
My second AC/DC album in three days worked out with Back in Black than it did with Highway to Hell. Whereas HtH is a pure rock album full of deep cuts, BiB goes balls to the wall with recognizable hits that were played between acts at the all-night battle of the bands or played in heavy rotation on FM rock stations in the 80s and 90s. This pure adrenaline ball blaster is an easy 4/5.
The best selling rock album of all time. I played this shit on repeat when I was a kid. Iconic riffs, strong writing, killer arrangements (for a rock album, at least). The lyrics are what you’d expect from a couple horny blokes in the early ‘80s, but otherwise, I’d say this is rock perfection. Love this. 4/5
this is whats playing in the average dads head at any giving moment
Not bad, at all.
Classic
Banger
One of the 1st records I listened to.
Yassssss
Amazing album - best they have done.
I grew up listening to this album with my dad and never liked it, but now it’s rather nostalgic and I can appreciate the guitar riffs going crazy in every single song. There are some real classics on here, especially for a relatively short album by today’s standards. That’s impressive.
4.5
So weird to see artists repeat on this list. Can't complain about this album, though. \m/ I think I might end up enjoying this album a bit more than Highway to Hell. We'll have to see how the non-singles hold up, though. Pretty solid halfway through... until YIKES side A ends with a rape anthem. Gross. Ok. High hopes for side B, and it did not disappoint. Overall a solid 4 stars despite the above. More steady album than Highway for sure.
Favourite song - You shook me all night long
Rock
Rock And/Or Roll
A lot of these songs are great, but most of them just stick to the AC/DC formula with no big deviation. It's a fun formula, but I kind of wish there was more going on under the hood. Best Song: Back in Black Worst Song: Let Me Put My Love Into You Underrated Gem: Shake a Leg Most AC/DC Song Ever: Have a Drink on Me Album Score: 7/10
wszystkie bardzo podobne do siebie, nie do konca lubie glos tego goscia ale ogolnie album bardzo fajny
This album contains some of the most well known rock songs of all time in Hells Bells, Back in Black, and You Shook Me All Night Long, but there are a few duds on here as well. Arena rock at its peak.
Not anything I'd usually listen to, this is an okay album.
4/5⭐️ Best song: You Shook Me All Night Long Worst song: Rock and Roll Ain’t Noise Pollution Comments: Solid rock album. One of my dad’s favourites of all time, reminds me of when he used to blast this CD in his car with me and my sister. AC/DC also just makes me think of Jack Black so no complaints from me
Great songs.
"Back in Black" by AC/DC is a rock masterpiece that stands as one of the band's most iconic albums. Released in 1980, it marked a triumphant return for the band after the tragic death of their lead singer, Bon Scott. Brian Johnson's powerful vocals brought a new energy to the band, perfectly complementing their hard-hitting sound. From the thunderous opening riff of "Hells Bells" to the anthemic title track "Back in Black," this album is packed with hard rock classics. Tracks like "You Shook Me All Night Long" and "Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution" have become rock staples and showcase the band at the top of their game. While some may criticize the album for its lack of diversity, its raw energy and timeless appeal have solidified its place as one of the greatest rock albums of all time. "Back in Black" is a must-listen for any fan of classic rock.
Sounds like childhood nostalgia
Classic album. Favorite new song is Shake a Leg.
Great album but it suffers from overexposure over the years. 4/5
Never not a good ride.
Alright fine... The fact that every song on this is a massive, catchy hit. There must be something to it.
Lots of sameness, but still an easy 4...
Dad rock at its finest
Very classic rock!
Excellent
AC⚡️DC gør det samme sang efter sang, album efter album. Den kreative udvikling er totalt fraværende. Men det de så gør det gør de fandme også godt! Lige ud af landevejen, no fucks given hardrock. Rytmesektionen hamrer derudaf akkompagneret af fræsende guitar og så er det mindre vigtigt hvem der vræler i mikrofonen. Her er der ikke tid til ballader og eksperimenter. Det er bare en lang rock n’ roll fest.
banger as always
You can already guess the chorus of each song by looking at the title and repeating it 20 times. 3.5/5
Really solid and compressed album which I appreciate, clear sound to it. Hell bells might be an all time great album opener
Wonderful album. I could listen to this again and again.
My son listens to this all the time, so I was expecting to be sick of most of the songs. But it's testament to AC/DC that I wasn't. They're probably the only band that managed to make each of their songs completely unique structurally, while being utterly catchy and accessible to a mainstream audience. However, the Dandy Warhols cover of Hell's Bells is better. There, I said it.
Fun.
Hockey dressing room jams. Simple rock doesn't get much better.
Iconic first Brian album. Banging
Earlier this week we had Highway to Hell (Bon Scott's final album before his death) now we have their next album, Back in Black (Brian Johnson's first album). Two pivotal AC/DC albums in succession. For those about to rock, we salute you.
Ein Klassiker des Rock
This to me is the ideal meat and potatoes hard rock album. It features great riffs, great vocal delivery, and very satisfying arrangement. The fact that after the lead singer of AC/DC died, they regrouped and put out their best album is incredible. Of course AC/DC is not known for innovation, a fact they gladly acknowledge, but they have learned how to deliver exactly what is necessary for good hard rock.
Hells Bells- 3.8/5 Shoot to Thrill- 4.2/5 What Do You Do for Money Honey- 4.4/5 Given the Dog a Bone- 4.2/5 Let Me Put My Love Into You- 3.9/5 Back in Black- 5/5 You Shook Me All Night Long- 5/5 Have a Drink on Me- 4.7/5 Shake a Leg- 5/5 Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution- 3.9/5 Total- 4.4/5
Didn’t listen but familiar with the album. It’s a goodie
The only studio album I've ever owned by AC/DC. Practically every track is a radio hit and you cannot resist cranking the stereo as loud as you can take it when listening to this album on your drive home from the office.
Just a solid rock album from back to front. I was leaning heavily towards five stars, but realized that it doesn't really rise above any of the other rock of that era. It's still damn good though.
surprisingly short. a 4 that makes me reconsider what a 5 is
Good tracks
Solid classic
I’m not going to put it on in my daily life to listen, but it was really fun to play and feels like fundamental music.
Lyrics are dated as shit, still rocks. Lost my virginity to shook me all night long, some of the worst sex of my life. There’s probably a metaphor in that somewhere.
Such a fun listen. You just know you are going to be rocking when you hear the opening strains of some of these songs. My only complaint is that for some reason it loses a little depth of sound in the streaming, which seemed odd.
AC DC does what they do well. They be a one-trick-pony, but dang if it doesn't have horse power.
YES!!
My mom grew up in the 80s, so this album was super nostalgic for me. I had a good time with it, but I'm happier adding some of the songs to a playlist rather than listening to the whole thing front to back. Some of the chord progressions bleed together...
i mean i like it alot but its like 9 pm where i am rn so im not really enthusiastic about it
Finally, a disc I Haven't heard a thousand times already. I dismissed this genre of Rock as cliched when it was current but it has aged quite well, and Amazon has given it the respect it deserves by providing it in its entirety in glorious UHD.
goil!
Цікавенько
Bangers, all the way through.
Was certaìn I wouldn't enjoy this album although I knew it's highly acclaimed as one of the best albums 2nd only to Thriller I believe. Having listened i was surprised by how much I didn't mind it. Good guitar playing throughout, lyrics I could actually hear although still not keen on the screechiness of Brian Johnson's vocals. Yeah, not a bad listened hence the reason I gave it 4 stars.
I don't necessarily love this album, but I respect it. AC/DC are soldiers fighting to save rock and roll in a war that only existed in their minds. It's dumb but fun. Some of these songs are played to death but for good reason. I don't really listen to this one too much as I'm not a huge fan of the band and I prefer the earlier albums but I gotta give it a 4. This thing is too loaded with hits to give it any less.
Iconic. Unique style.
Solid rock album
Definitely AC/DCs best album especially given the circumstances. All the songs follow the same formula of hard rock but it nails it. Great album with 0 skips all the way through. 3.61
Back in Black and Shook Me All Night Long are great, but I also liked Rock and Roll ain't Noise Pollution
Great, great album. Classic.
It’s a classic rock album for a reason.
I know folks either love or hate Johnson’s voice, but you have to love a guitarist named Angus who always wears shorts when performing. One of their best albums with many hits. The electric guitar is crisp and simple with great percussion.
His voice might not be the best, but they have great guitar play, lyrics, and they are too iconic to give a bad rating.
3,5 ster.
Rahhhhh
While this album epitomizes the AC/DC sound for me, there's a degree of similarity to the tracks that makes this feel more like a 'Best Hits' effort than an album. Fortunately the tracks themselves are able to stand on their own and pack a decent punch each time.
OK
Listened before
Always fun
Love this music but leave those women alone, Jesus
This is the AC/DC album you've heared before. If you can stand the vocals it's pretty good.
a classic, but a first time listen for me really good
duplicate
Brought me back. Great album.
7.5/10 Great classic rock album. It's about kickin' ass and having a great time. Good vocals, really awesome guitar work. There are classics on it for a reason.

Ah, the soundtrack to every Friday afternoon drinking session in college during the 80s. Back in Black is a staple of classic rock, especially the title track and You Shook Me All Night Long, and perhaps Hells Bells. It's loud, pugnacious, and childish, but in a good way. It's a good time record for times you want to be rowdy.
Great rock album. The singles stand out, but there are about 4 filler songs that prevent this from being a perfect album. Still, AC/DC are a juggernaut of a band and this is kind of akin to Metallica’s black album - seeing the rebirth of the band, albeit with the new singer.
Couldn’t listen to the entire album at one sitting. Still working on it
Great!
One of their best and a smooth transition to the change in lead singers
Guter alter Hardrock! Und natürlich zwei Klassiker Hammer Songs!
Always one of my favorites, true "rock and roll" album! Listening to it now, I never really listened to the lyrics of "let me put my love into you". Sound like a date rape anthem, or maybe just a rape anthem.
This would be a greatest hits compilation for most classic rock bands.
4 really good singles, and a song about alcohol for an album supposedly for a bandmate who died from, you guessed it, alcohol. There's some really good stuff on here, but it isn't elevated enough for me to consider it for 5 stars.
8/10
4/5
Solid AC/DC album. I've heard all of these many times before and still enjoy them to this day.
The greatest rock album ever? Absolutely not, especially when Brian Johnson screeches like a castrated hyena through the whole thing. I appreciate not wanting to match Bon’s specific energy, but he was always a serious downgrade. Still, there are some all-timers here, even if the title track and “You Shook Me All Night Long” have overstayed their welcome in the pop culture lexicon. And Mutt Lang really was one of the best producers of the game. C+… bordering on a B range
3.75/5 - a solid classic album, if not a bit repetitive
Memories of cruising 12th Street in high school or makes me think of Robert Downey Jr's Tony Stark. I like most of the songs, although a few i would have preferred to skip.
Probably the 1st non-hair metal rock album that I've ever listened to as a child. Lots of nostalgia with this one.
Good album! I love how powerful Brian Johnson’s vocals are on it, even if the instrumentation is simple. I can tell these guys partied hard before writing this album. It’s a nice collection of the sex, drugs, and rock-and-roll lifestyle. 4.4/5 Favorite Track: Shake a Leg Least Favorite Track: Kind of hard to decide.
8th grade. My favorite year in all my school experiences. And the year this seminal album was dropped on us unexpectedly. While a bit trying to my ear today, side two remains one of those \"event\" in music history that opened ideas and pleasure centers in the brain. Personally I had to go backward from this work of AC/DC to discover Bon Scott, and truthfully I didn't go much forward with this band after this music. But damn... side two... amazing sound.
Used to be one of those pretentious metalheads who wrote AC/DC off as being a gimmick act with their school outfits etc, so never even gave them a proper listen back in the day. So now years down the road it was great to be forced to listen to this. It's actually really... Fun? Angus' voice probably would (and really starts to after 40mins) grate if listened to too much, but a small dose is great. Some amazing guitar work on here. The songs about shagging do start to get a bit old after the third or fourth one but a few select deletions turn this into a quality 25-30 minute EP
This isn’t what I usually listen to, but god damn is it a fun album. All the tracks are just full of energy with great guitar solos and powerful vocals that make it almost impossible to not want to sing and dance along. They know what they want and do it so well, but I think it could do with just a little more variety as it felt a little derivative by the end. 4/5
I’ll always have a soft spot for classic rock like this. Lots of great classic tunes all over the album that STILL get tons of radio play.
Pretty much classic rock station from the early 2000s simulator. There's a reason boomers love this music. Don't worry about the basic chords and easiest job in rock and roll (drums for ACDC). It's really the resurgence of ACDC lead by Angus Young that makes this album. High energy music will always last. I agree with many overrated lists putting ACDC there, but I still love em.
Classic
Low hanging fruit, this is too obvious when it comes to 'greatest albums of all time'. I'm pretty sure most sound engineers use this album to test speakers because it's just that on point.
Not the best album from ac/DC but still lovely
I love this album. Full of hits. You shook me all night long is one of the best rock songs ever imo. I’m giving this one a 4 because for me this album is a little tedious to listen to all in one go. I feel like I need to take a break between songs. I enjoy it a lot, but it’s something I prefer to have in doses.
I am not an AC/DC fan but this is another classic album. I really enjoyed listening to the whole album and there are some gems. Great stuff!
I feel a great disturbance in the Force when I listen close, as if millions of Coors-drunk denim-wearers suddenly put another quarter in the jukebox and were suddenly soloing on their pool cues.
Good old fashioned rock n roll- listened to it on a run and it gave me extra speeeed
Can’t deny that this rocks. Not my thing but it rocks and is catchy af. 3.5/5
Solid classic rock. Hadn't listened in quite awhile
Loved it when I younger, still enjoy it, but maybe not to the same extent.
Not my style and definitely not for listening at work. Songs are good for other situations :)
Not my preferred sounds, but this is a very good album. Glad I stuck it out for Rick and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution, easily my favorite track.
Big Dad Rock Album. Extra points for Brian Johnson's debut ACDC album.
pure classic
good album
Hells Bells - Not bad start to the album, 3/5 Shoot to thrill - Hype as fuck 5/5 What do you do for money honey - 4/5 Givin the dog a bone - 4/5 Let me put my love into you - Kinky 3/5 Back in black - Iconic, but not as good as i remember 4/5 You shook me all night long - 4.5/5 Have a drink on me - 3.5/5 Shake a leg - Definitely not the best song on this album 2.5/5 Rock and roll ain't noise pollution - 3/5 Overall - Good album, much enjoyed. Favorite song: Shoot to thrill
I already have three songs off this album in my main playlist. While I skip them frequently, through each song this album is quite sound and had a clear, defined, and untouched style. Rating based on how much I enjoyed it and not its legacy, The novelty of screaming in as high of a pitch as possible hasn't aged well on many songs for me personally.
makes my head hurt a bit, but a great hard rock album nonetheless.
Прекрасний хардрок, просто класика, але пісні доволі одноманітні, тому під кінець трохи задовбує
Classic album
Not as dated as I have always thought when taken as a whole, I really rocked to some of these songs
first time ive ever listened to an ACDC album..... its better than expected.... but too much of the same voice
The hits are huge but there are parts that get a bit too repititive to make the whole album infinitly listenable
3.75
While this album has very generic lyrics, the music just kicks. AC/DC just has guitar riffs that make me happy, and Back in Black is one of those quintessential guitar songs that just slaps. 4/5!
Ohan tää nyt helvetin kovaa rockia ja sille on syynsä, miksi acdc on niin puhki soitettua Yllätti silti hyvyydellä
Red Starr of Smash Hits was more critical, saying he found the songs indistinguishable from one another and marred by hypermasculine fantasies, rock music stock phrases, garish guitar, and dull rhythms, on "yet another triumph for lowest common denominator headbanging—the new thoroughly predictable, thoroughly dreadful AC/DC album" in my opinion redd star is very right but very wrong. everything he said album this album is right, but that’s what makes it great.
Generally a bop if a little repetitive but not so repetitive that I had to wonder why certain tracks are familiar and others are forgettable.
No big surprise, but dang the guitar is so good. Shoot to Thrill is pretty great in stereo. Love the part at 3:30 that gets a lot quieter. I wonder how AC/DC would feel knowing I just think of Iron Man when I listen to Back in Black. Again, the guitar is so good. This album is kind of the same song 10 times, but the song kicks ass so I'm not complaining too much. Have a Drink on Me is one I've never heard before that I really like. Shake a Leg actually sounds quite different from the others, trying to think of what the guitar lick sounds like. Holy moly, that solo though. Kind of a weak song to end on, but overall I did enjoy it.
Classic rock classic
Strong album. I don’t love AC/DC, but there’s nothing to complain about here.
"Rock and Roll is just Rock and Roll' Johnson sings in the last song. What more do you have to say about this album. No nonsense, straight forward with crude lyrics, without weak songs, AC/DC at their best. There are a few songs that stick out. And for the good listener, there is still quite a bit of variation to be found. The ominous beginning of Hells Bells is such a powerful opener to the album, the touch of blues in Rock and Roll is Noise Pollution is a great extra. And She Shook Me All Night Long ... certainly also has its own atmosphere. And 40 minutes is enough. But after those 40 minutes my neck is starting to feel a bit sore from banging it for 40 minutes.
Not too Memorable
Je m’attendais à moin d’un albu d’AC/DC, mais ca rock hard
It's a hard rock banger with a bunch of classic hard rock anthems like Hells Bells, Shoot for Thrill and You Shook Me All Night Long, not to mention the title track. Some of the other tracks on the album are very enjoyable as well, but there are a couple that don't quite work as well. If you like melodic screaming and grunting, rhythmic guitar riffs and big drums, you could do a whole lot worse.
Impressed. Knew some songs but all songs decent
Every song sounds exactly the same but it's still a blast somehow.
A lot of this album is trudging through basically the same track going on for at least a minute too long. But the highs are very high
Standard AC/DC. Nothing more, nothing less. Which is exactly what I like
Ground breaking
Great album, especially the title track "Back in Black", and "You Shook Me All Night Long".
This is definitely a classic album but I’ve been beat over the head with these songs for years. If I listen to our local classic rock station for two days, I will hear 8/10 songs on this album. The only 2 they don’t play are Let Me Put My Love Into You and Shake a Leg. They play all the other 8 songs All. The. Time. Great tunes but good Lord are the lyrics juvenile!
CLASSIC literally have half this album in one of my main playlists. Other half is just white noise though. Not sure what the scale will be so giving it 4 stars
Loved it. Absolute bangers
8/10
I was goin' hard to this one! Hells Bells stood out, I liked the slow burn intro and then suddenly we're IN IT. I forgot what a banger "Back In Black" (the song) is. Like....truly iconic.
I mean... it's a classic. Personally, not really my thing but I don't have to love it to recognize its ubiquity.
Everyone knows almost every song on this album, the whole thing is iconic. I used to thump to this on 8 track in the garage.
It is very tough for me to separate AC/DC from my nostalgia which makes it hard to come into this with fresh eyes. The album hits hard and the vocals are harsh but that’s part of the fun. Half of the songs on this album are regulars on classic rock radio so it certainly deserves to be on this list. Added to playlist: Shoot to Thrill
This is peak AC/DC. A masterful return to form. Hard rock and heavy metal is hit or miss for me but its tough to deny this albums peaks.
Großartiger Beginn, solider Rock. Höre ich wahrscheinlich noch Mal.
Great, simple and straight to the point! Great hard rock that just makes you nod your head. Much is said about AC/DC being very formulaic, well when that formula works it works!
As expected.
Fire fuego gas. I agree with untitled2 that it gets a little repetitive towards the end but I’m in complete agreement that this is one of the greats.
