Reviews (page 16 of 16)

Really strong start. War Pig, Paranoid, Iron Man are all great. Got a little bored by the end. between a 3 and 4 for me.

Didn’t go in to work, but good call, chill, hang, mild prod, senegalese food

Flera klassiker på denna platta. Helt okej.

A seminal heavy metal album that is mandatory listening for anyone who has even a passing interest in metal's roots. That said, this album is basically three classic Sabbath songs and a bunch of filler. Other than "War Pigs", "Paranoid", and "Iron Man", nothing else really stood out to me.

J'ai trouvé ça assez inégal

Classic metal

The singles played over so much that I don't like em anymore, I even skipped Paranoid. But that listen made me discover some other songs on that album that flew under the radar and are well worth a listen.

I know this is supposed to be the first true metal album, but I don't think it's aged particularly well. Maybe 3-4 good songs on here.

I AM IRON MAN...

Stand out track - War pigs

Looking at the credits, I like how all of the members of the band co-writ every one of the songs and they were all produced by the same person. I feel like that's pretty rare to see in 2022, at least in mainstream popular music. There seems to be a lot of repetition of melody in some of these songs, although that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I was actually really excited to listen to this album, and I guess I’m just not used to this type of music enough to really appreciate it. I liked these songs, but most of them were not enough to play by themselves later on. I also think the fact that I’m not used to hearing guitar solos, instrumental breaks, etc. in the songs I listen affects my enjoyment of this album.

Cool album

Hits were top notch! Some songs just ok. But good stuff all in all

I don't know if this album defined metal but it certainly took metal to the masses. The 2012 remastered version sounds great and highlights the album's tunes and performances. I find that I have a lot of similar opinions as Robert Christgau but I don't get his distaste for Black Sabbath. Sure, some of the lyrics are a little naff, but they don't deserve the roasting he gave them.

I’ve heard enough in movie sound tracks and on KHJ to know what i was getting into. Good stuff

Forgotten that the Sabs did such good stuff. Nearly a 4 star.

Very 70s sound for me. clean sound. good to run to

Teininä puhkikuunneltu eikä siksi jaksa enää oikeen säväyttää täysillä. Klassikkojytää kyllä. 3/5

About just mitä odotin tältä levyltä

it could be worse. 3? solid 3 because i dont actually want to listen to it again but i dont mind it.

i can't imagine listening to this album for the first time in 1970! it wasn't the very first heavy metal album, but it's close to and it is so iconic. i can definitely feel the presence of this album on other heavy metal we've seen in this 1001 albums, like pantera's vulgar display of power. the guitar riffs in this album are the focal point. i cannot believe how great they are! obviously "war pigs," "paranoid," and "iron man" are incredible, carry the album, and contain amazing guitar. the drums, actually, were amazing in "iron man," too. that being said, the rest of the album is okay. some of these titles were, uh, inspired is a nice word to use. the lyrics were probably fine, if you could ever understand ozzy. the instrumentation, however, is top notch, which cannot go overlooked. black sabbath released a killer debut album and set the heavy metal standard high.

High points are very high - Paranoid & Iron Man, but when it gets slow I'm not a fan at all

black sabbath more like good music am i right

I figured I would hate this because I am not a fan of heavy metal. Apparently this is the album that started it all (according to hubby). To my surprise I didn't hate it! Some of the songs are melodic and lovely. Sometimes the words are meaningful. Hmmm, too bad it opened the door to such a depraved kind of music.

I've never considered myself a fan particularly, but I can't deny the power and perfection of this album.

I actually enjoyed this album, overall. And I was absolutely tickled pink to hear a song from Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2! It wasn't my favourite album, and I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to it, but it was enjoyable.

I've listened to this one a bunch of times but I came to it pretty late in the game. If this had been one of those albums that bowled me over as a teen it would probably mean a lot to me. But there's was something that didn't add up between Ozzy's persona and what you get from Black Sabbath. Growing up, it was like Ozzy was satanic or something. And you listen to this and they're a bunch of hippies. It's crazy how not scary it is. Kind of like the first time you listen to KISS, maybe, if you came to that late, too. And you're like - wait, is this fucking disco? What the hell was everybody worried about? Anyway, this album is good. I don't love it, but it's a good listen, I think.

Not huge on Ozzy, still dope tho

Very heavy.

Really solid metal. Obviously several classic songs in here and it's before Ozzy gets completely unintelligible

It still sounds so good, despite its age! And great to hear how much its influence can still be heard in so much rock n roll. That chug, in particular, is timeless. A bit basic by today's standards, but that doesn't completely hurt it. Having praised it, I still don't really love it, personally. tempted to '4' it, for historical significance and deference to still being good despite 50+ years old, but...

Not my favourite but some classic tunes

A catchy rock album. 3 recognized songs

Kinda repetitive and simple, but decent

England, 70s, Rock + Legend, still listenable = Alike, - NFM, oldish {0/8} [3/5]

Dear Mr Sabbath, Thank you for your entry into the 1001 albums you must listen to before you die. This is the second of your entries I have listened to. I found this one to be more focused, tighter, the riffs were more orientated to a singular purpose (rockin’ out, of course) than in your previous offering. I enjoy that thing you do where it sounds a little sloppy jaloppy then suddenly tightens like a corset cinched (if a little less sexy; maybe a tourniquet tightened would be more apt), and everything clicks into place. I hope you don’t mind me saying your lyrics could do with a little work (“Finished with my woman ‘cos she could not help me with my mind…”) but then, Mr Sabbath, I suppose it’s never been about the lyrics, has it? You’re just looking for a good time, and I’m pleased to report you’ve found one. Sincerely, B. Ears.

Some great songs, some not so great

solid album, didn’t technically finish it but has some really nice guitar rifts, i’ll definitely throw it in rotation though

Finally understand where Iron Man comes from, straight up head bangin rock from another era!

Classic early metal. Loved the mellow track Planet Caravan.

I liked all 4 tracks on this album

Epic opening song. War pigs rules

Not bad for metal!

It was okay, i liked some of the songs. My favourite was Planet Caravan. 2.5/3 stars, rounded up to 3.

É bom, mas não é meu estilo.

Honestly, I think I liked Black Sabbath way more than I expected to, largely due to Ozzy Osbourne's voice. I think the unconventionally slow start on War Pigs caught my attention. Will I listen again? Probably not but generally have more of an appreciation for this band than I did previously.

Never really liked Black Sabbath before apart from a few songs and never liked Paranoid cos it's pure shite. Turns out that's by far the worst song on this album and the songs that I do like of theirs are on it too.

War Pigs is a phenomenal song in the Vietnam War area. Not sure why this wasn't a single. I thought complaining about the US bombing countries half way around the world had become fashionable by then but I guess only by exception. I heard W Pigs first when I was 9 years old so I liked the song but didn't yet get the lyrics. I also don't remember the drumming on that song being so good. Moon was clearly  influential. The song Paranoid proves that an ass-kicking opening riff gets a song a long way towards being a hit. Sorta like Tumbling Dice among so many others. Tony was quite an accomplished guitar player and it must've been tough to get that good given he played left handed. I guess Jimi was also on that team. He could do worse lol. You might guess that as a 9 yo War Pigs was the shit. This song, however, is likely a key influence for so much of the heavy metal that I hated in the years to come.

Decent enough but not really into metal. Can see why people love it.

One overplayed title track, two more plodding hits, all in all a bit dull from Ozzy and gang.

There's absolute bangers here in Paranoid, Iron Man and War Pigs but the rest of it just passes me by really. It's amazing that from this small acorn, the mighty metal tree did grow.

Cool. With most of their big songs on this it was more what I expected of Black Sabbath, but all sounded a bit the same and didn't enjoy it as much as the self titled album

Some of it was good.

harde rock niet zo slecht

3.5 but rounding down; 3 bangers, but not much from the other tracks

🤟 This Rocks!

one of the better rock albums

The most stripped down parts of metal before it became overblown and stodgy. Sounds great as an album.

A good rock album, not really my thing, was ok

5 stars doesn't provide enough nuance for ratings. I've now given this the same as Cocteau Twins, even though I think it's better, but I gave Television 4 stars and I didn't enjoy it as much as that.

Paranoia, war pigs y

Pretty good. I'd listen to this more than once a year.

Solid rock entry. Paranoid and War Pigs are standouts for me, though i don't think there's enough to hold my attention on lots of repeat listens. Definitely like Ozzy's voice.

An okay album with a good single.

Have already heard this one, but nice to listen to it again.

I didnt realise so many songs would be slow.

Back when you could tell what Ozzy was saying. Iron man is great. Not sure the entire album is a great though.

My fav Sabbath stuff.

A classic I've already heard most of the songs. Love ozzy's voice but this classic metal was never really my cup of tea but still a great listen!

1: War pigs- 5/10 bit empty, but good 2: Paranoid- 7/10 like this one, classic 3: Planet caravan- 6/10 nice atmosphere, blends into background 4: Iron man- 4/10 weird Album feels bland so far 5: Electric Funeral- 4/10 Liked the harder bit 6: Hand of doom- 3/10 nice start, don't like 7: rat salad- 2/10 hm nice solo and time signature of drums. like focus on drums. ok too much focus on drums 1:30. not a fan of the solo it makes me want to skip. 8: Fairies have boots- 5/10 1:22 like this, now just waiting for album to end. 3:40 ooo nice switch up. Overall- 4/10 I have listened to planet caravan before and liked it, but not anymore. paranoid is the standout. the rest is mid in my opinion What would I still listen to? Paranoid only!!

This took me ages to review, but I just can't get myself to the level required to like it. It's not fun enough. It's not particularly virtuosic. The production is bad - that bass guitar needs some distortion really bad. Ozzy is better as an icon than he is as a singer on an album. After the album finished Spotify spun Killing in the Name Of, which is the same song as War Pigs but faster, punchier, more fun, more angry, better. It was a contrast.

its giving rockish, we love a lil guitar solo, not my taste unfortunately

unmoved.

160. ok

very batman and teen titans irl esque. i recognize the Iron Man remastered version. not much else to say 3/10

No me llamo demasiado la atención

I think Black Sabbath are not for me, but Iron Man is a hit forever.

It was some songs that were pretty good, I wouldn’t call it like that kind of boring same old rock this was more like a rock that kept you listening and it was 1 good song that I actually saved.

i DONT LIKE THIS TYPE OF MUSIC

Too heavy for me - a couple of fab intros that got me fired up (paranoid, iron man) - otherwise I found myself zoning out a lot with all the noise

1. pigz -3 2. paranoid - 3 3. planet - 1 4. iron - 3 5. electric - 1 6. doom - 0 7. rat - 1 8. bootz - 1

vaya tostonazo

Hard hard rock

Not a huge fan of heavy rock. I can listen to a few songs and then need something different. They're well done.

Ditto as Deep Purple

First album recommended, and I really can’t complain; considering I’m not the biggest fan of rock/heavy metal music. I’d rate the album a 5/10, with Planet Caravan taking the cake for me. However, I can appreciate how a fan of this genre would absolutely looove the album.

Eh, not my vibe but cool guitar solos

Everything except for the title track just washed over me.

Title tracks good. Otherwise very much of its time

not my type

Dont like it

Much better than 2014 Black Sabbath but just not my fave, definitely I can see why people like but I’m just not people

I know this set a new standard for heavy music, and it’s better than I expected, but I can definitely take it or leave it.

I like some of the black sabbath hits and ozzy is bigger than life, but the droning of some of the songs is a turn off

very very boring, fell asleep

I don’t know how I feel about metal

Definitely not my typical music genre haha. Did love the instrumentals (gr8 guitar and drums!!), wasn’t a fan of the vocals (sorry ozzy osbourne, didn’t even know he was in this band)… overall not a bad album at all, just not for me -favourite track: RAT SALAD

Du rock, encore du rock, toujours du rock

Kinda boring with some cool bits here and there. I dunno, not for me

I’ve heard of them beforeeee. this album was mainly background music for me. there were a few songs that I liked but nothing memorable.

not really my style

Some tunes I recognised - reminded me of school of rock. Just not really for me though.

Fairly ponderous

sounds like the other one

Boring

Some good tracks not enough to lift the whole album. Didn't care for Sabbath in the 70's and nothing has changed that much now.

Boring, one good song

fhfhfhfhf

Kendte ikke rigtig til dem. Men hvil i fred Ozzy Osbourne

It’s not a radical as it was then. Good drums. Ozzie is just Ozzie.

Almost a perfect album and a true historic document but Planet Caravan keeps this from being an album I listen to regularly. There's better Sabbath albums than this.

A lot better than the first Sabbath album I encountered. Less of a historical curiosity and more a cohesive album. I mean, it's still very silly in places and the mix is muddy, but it's okay. Overall, Black Sabbath is not for me.They're an influential band and pioneers within their genre. I get that. The music just doesn't grab me at all.

Curious synchronicity, but Ozzie Osbourne died today - and then this album pops up. My social media feed is full of people bewailing his passing but I was never a fan, so I’m not rating this album on nostalgia. I don't like their music and what they stood for, either.

I appreciate it but apart from the odd melodic track it’s not for me.

Iconic. The album that launched a genre. Ozzy in a nascent state as the Prince of Darkness. Et cetera. I still can't break my association of this album with being 12-13 years old and just not getting what was so great about this, when my friends extolled how "awesome" it is. The person who invented the piano was not the greatest pianist, so it goes with heavy metal (but don't mistake me for a fan of the genre). I guess with time I have an appreciation of the themes of the album; call me a dilettante when I'll nod my head politely when the most popular tracks come on, but I wouldn't spend a penny on Ozzy to put his music in my own collection.

Heard some songs but didn’t really liked the album

It helped shape the genre. Thankfully the genre progressed quickly because this is kind of ass.

Ah, my 12th favourite Sabbath album. I get that it's massively influential, but it's just a bit dull, especially the lesser known tracks. Also, i think Ozzy was the worst singer Sabbath had.

Brings me back to middle school. Ozzy died yesterday. It's not my favorite album.

Someone has been in my room and stolen my beers from my room

Really not my jam. Also Ozzy is not a super great singer idk

boring metal slop again, every metal album is the same change my mind

Really not my style. I only knew Iron Man beforehand, but the music is so boring to me. I know they're very successful and I don't want to invalidate that so this is just a case of I wouldn't get it, and that's okay

Not for me, might be ahead of their time but it feels dated.

A lot of the songs sound very similar to me.

The music was decently good, but the singing was lousy. Also in most of the songs, the voice follows music exactly, like beat for beat, which kind of sounds weird. Planet Caravan was nice and chill, and Rat Salad was good because it was an instrumental. A couple other songs had some nice shredding in them, but the vocals just turn me off. Best song: Planet Caravan

I've said it before, cake have the superior cover of war pigs

2.5 stars Enjoyed this more than I thought I would. The non-hits didn’t interest me much, but Planet Caravan was a chill, trippy surprise.

Wasn’t as horrible as expected, but not great. This was only a moderately popular album when I was in high school, appealing to the more hardcore stoners, not to imply my friends and I were less hardcore stoners.

I am really glad that I finally listened to this classic album and that this has been the first album I got. I’ve never been into anything metal-like and this has been my first album in this genre. It wasn’t really my cup of tea. Ozzy‘s singing didn’t really resonate with me. I quite liked some of the guitar parts especially in the last 3 tracks of the album. I totally understand the appeal, but it isn’t something that resonates with me at the moment. I will come back to some of the tracks for the guitar though.

Less irritating than I expected this to be based on my preconceived idea of Black Saabath. I respect what they're doing but I don't enjoy it.

Sludgy. Proto. Appreciate but don't love.

not really a fan

Sabbath...the most influential band (and album) that I just ain't into. It's fine for what it is but it never really works for me. 2.5/5

WTH! This is my second Black Sabbath in less than a week and third overall! Metal is just not my thing but I did actually like the song Planet Caravan. It's probably the least metal song on the album and kind of jazzy. No more of this crap please!

Screeching is not music

Time for a reappraisal. It's been a little over 100 albums since the last collection of tunes from Black Sabbath, with this album apparently being the last of theirs on the list. I remember disliking Vol. 4 for reasons that I may or may not currently agree with, though I don't actually recall having any opinions on their debut album. Fortunately, I've received word from my assistant that I do, in fact, like the title track of this album. We'll see where that takes us. Uhh. Not far. There's something deeply unappealing about the guitar performances of Black Sabbath that make it hard for me to get into their albums. There's a lot of "crust" on em, which is to say that they lack any bass and are completely blown out. The sheer amount of dead air on this album is staggering. "Hand of Doom" starts out promising with a cool bassline, but quickly devolves into the guitars that I find oh-so polarising. The track anticlimatically returns to the beginning of the song as if nothing happened, which didn't do much to win my favour, either. I also can't say that the long, annoying, pace-killing drum solos on "Rat Salad" appealed to me. On the bright side, the first half of this album is markedly better. I enjoyed the more melodic approach of "War Pigs", even if the song is way too bloated for it's own good. The aforementioned "Paranoid" is the highlight of the album. It's carried by a very good central guitar hook and is refreshingly concise. It's the kind of song I envision when I think of the "hardcore" appeal of metal, which is why I'm always disillusioned by how bloated and meandering metal albums wind up being. "Planet Caravan" is also pretty cool. I like the atmospheric, "spacy" sound, which I haven't really heard on other metal albums. I can finally concede to the fact that Ozzy Osbourne is a good vocalist. I remember feeling mixed and underwhelmed across the previous albums, though I can see how his voice and range is well-suited to this style of music. Adios, Black Sabbath. That being said, I may revisit this band in the future if I ever find the time to do a metal binge. I'm favourable to metal when it is intersected with other genres of music, though I've really struggled to find it appealing on it's own. The genre may grow on me if I expose myself to more of it.

Not really for me. It was okay I guess but clearly didn't hit like it should have

Der Titelsong ist super. Der Rest war irgendwie langweilig. Schade, habe mehr erwartet.

Had some good ones but wasn't a huge fan of the album once again some songs are way too long.

Black sabbath more like light sabbath, that's soft War pigs is not bad

Bit mid I’m not very into rock but it was fine

Fine, not a big fan

My memories of this album were pretty good but honestly, it sucks ass.

Interesting sounds, hard death rock not my thing but I can see the attraction. Much yelling. 2.5/5

Couple of recognizable songs. Not for me.

this is for crazies to listen to when they are drunk at night, walking in the woods, and yoloing

A few good ones on there

Verrassend en beter dan ik had gedacht. Mooie gitaar, maar geheel niet mooi genoeg.

Not really as bad as I thought it would be. Mostly guitar riffs and boring lyrics

I didn’t mind this one, didn’t love it either. Feels like a 2.5 for me, but I’ll go with a 2.0 because I doubt I’d listen to it again. They play a couple of those songs enough on the radio for me to get my fill.

I am sure the album is great as it is put down as one of the greatest heavy metal albums of all time and Black Sabbath is a pioneer for heavy metal, but heavy metal is a genre I never liked and I just found the this album boring.

I knew I didn't like Metal, but I was willing to give it a try. I didn't think it would such a boring drivel. There is no drive to it!

Admittedly, I am not the audience for this. Listening to it did not change my mind.

I was nervous for this one, but didn’t totally hate it? 2.5

Just not my cup of tea.

Boring

Paranoid by Black Sabbath is one of those albums I feel like I should have a stronger opinion about, but honestly, I thought it was just okay. I didn't really care for it one way or another. The songs have that classic heavy sound, and I can see why it’s so influential, but it didn’t exactly grab me. There were moments where I appreciated the grit and darkness, like in "Iron Man" and "War Pigs," but at the same time, some of it just felt like it blended together. There’s not a lot of variety imo, and after a while, it started to feel a bit monotonous. I get why it's a big deal in the history of rock, but for me, it didn't hit the spot. It’s an album that’s more in the background for me, not something I’d actively seek out but not something I’d turn off either. It’s fine, just not something I’m into.

Not a fan. Sounded like worse metal music, but there was definite technical value

Feels like simple, repetetive and moody Rock.

I’m a decent fan of the title track and “Iron Man” but otherwise I don’t love the incessant drum solos and builds that feel like they never really pay off. Dad loves them which makes so much sense since he’s a drummer but outside of that the tracks are all over the place, feeling like they attempted to imitate Beethoven with the slow somber juxtaposed with the crashing drums from one minute to the next.

I get they are an influential group but it’s not for me. I like the anti-war commentary but don’t really connect with any songs on the album or find it that nice to listen to. The name rat salad gives me such a big ick.

Outside of the two popular songs this was not great

This makes me paranoid

Classis sabbath. Well written and performed.

I get that this album represents the genesis of heavy metal. And that “Iron Man” and “War Pigs” are thematically important. But this is boring, right? I mean, soul-crushingly, navel-gazingly dull. Right? Hello?

Not horrible. Pretty much used the same formula for the drums and base line of most songs. Rat Salad and Fairies Wear Boots song titles are more creative than the actual songs. (1.9*s)

Didn't want to listen more than 3 songs and it felt slow, pausing, political and I only enjoyed paranoid.

Famous album. I had it played to me too many times in the 80's by my metal head colleagues, but its just not my thing. A low 2

Hooky at times (title cut is best thing they ever did), but mostly full-on sludgy, white-bluesy, with the occult cosplay playing as little more than schtick after all this time. There's no doubting Ozzy's originality, but three BS records is at least two too many for this list.

i listened to half the album and did not like it.

Not really my taste tbh. Lots of stuff I’ve heard before though. Yeah just not super into it, sorry

I am not a fan of the type of music produced by Black Sabbath but did give the album a listen anyway.

Dreary. The mix seemed so muddy.

Like the songs popularised by Ironman and Buckets The Drummer. Otherwise, not very listenable

War pig - better than expected Paranoid - not bad, I like he rhythm of the lyrics Planet caravan - v nice. Unexpected Iron man - classic riff but not for me. Don't like the pacing or style of lyrics Electronic funeral - nope Hand of doom - this is really nice until the electric guitar kicks in and the shouting starts Rat salad - some good drumming I can see how this must have been amazing on release, something totally new. It's not for though, guitars are too heavy being the main thing. My star ratings are getting messed, need more than 5. Giving this 2 would rather do 2.5 or something as it isn't bad it's just not for me

For me, a two.

there was like one cool song, the rest was just bleh. like it’s crazy but most of these albums make me realise that if i listen to all the songs, i’m less likely to like them. they just all meld into the same shouty, boring sounds. i didn’t care for this; won’t listen to it again, can appreciate that it was probably ‘influential’ for some reason but i also kinda don’t care; you can’t have 100 bands all out at the same time making the same music and tell me they’re all influential, don’t make sense!

I like the musical style of this era. I had an incorrect preconception of this band. They are very much a band of the 60-70s, very much talks about human alienation, degradation of mental health in the modern world, loneliness, fear of the bomb and war.

Ok Ozzy you get points for "Paranoid."

Not for me

This was my first exposure to Black Sabbath's music and it definitely wasn't what I expected. I can see now why Ozzy is such a huge star - his vocals are unlike anything else I've ever heard!

I knew I wasn't a fan and I'm still not convinced to become one.

Not as heavy as expected, definitely rambly

Songs are either too meandering or overplayed to me or both. It oftentimes seems like I'm listening in on the band being in the process of creating new songs and testing sounds, but there is just no structure to entire or part of most songs. Ozzy's wailing has always been devicive but here I could do without it. I'd much rather listen to the self-titled debut over this one.

4/10. Not a classic.

Has some nice tunes but they are buried under layers of the same shit

Expected to like this more :\

A real classic album. None of the music I listened to was possible without Black Sabbath. Never occured to me that Ozzy sounds like the late Chris Cornell. But: After 50+ (!!!) years the schematic architecture of these songs has aged a bit poorly. 2.4

Viel me alleszins mee.

Bit too heavy for my taste. Though some rock classics in there

Not a metal fan....

Crisp, clear, simple, elemental sound, on songs that are very straightforward & atmospherically very similar. Other than Tony Iommi's guitar, the musicianship doesn't jump out at me.

I came close to taking my traditional approach to metal albums: DO NOT LISTEN, or at least bail at the earliest opportunity. I was interested in War Pigs though, and so let this play out. My ears pricked up further with Paranoid. It's one of those songs that you listen and hear out of routine, rather than trying to appreciate it as a song on its own. Paranoid is everywhere. It's almost wallpaper music now, such is the familiarity. The album wasn't as heavy as I feared, and even had moments of melody. Planet Caravan stood out for the tune, if not the title. I lasted until track 6. I probably won't play this again, and certainly wouldn't buy it. But nowhere as bad as I was fearing.

It’s fine. Seems like it was a lot of the same riff though.

not my music

not one I'd ever listened to, but did know Paranoid and Iron Man. Didn't love it but didn't mind it either. Sounded good with the vocals and guitar going toe to toe for bits. Can see the influence on metal and hard rock. Not my thing.

I appreciate their influence on later groups like Iron Maiden that are more my speed. Unfortunately this doesn't do a whole lot for me. Nothing personal !!

Good album. Some classics on here. Ozzy dining is great at this point in his career.

Saved Prior: None Saved Off Rip: Iron Man Cutting Edge: None Overall Notes: Oops, all heavy metal! I just don't really like this kind of music. Even Iron Man, a prior casualty of the Cutting Edge, took multiple years of listening to finally get saved. Maybe one day it'll all click for me but that day wasn't today.

Enjoyed the music but not so much the singing or lyrics. Quite good fun all in all but not for me.

Thought it would be harder. Can see how it'd be great live but was a it non plussed. 4.5/10

The famous tracks are good.

Not my cup of tea

Sounds like an album I know my mum enjoys listening too… don’t really think it’s my favourite or taste I can’t lie!

Listened to the first 2 tracks. I did not like it much.

I didn't like it; all the songs sounded the same to me.

Repetitious and horrible. A double whammy of misery.

not for me

I’m just not a metal fan. But I can still appreciate it

I know this is considered a metal classic but I've never liked this band. Whiny vocals boring guitar .5/5

Couldn't stand it

not really my thing but RIP Ozzie!!!1

I do not care for this type of music.

...is someone stalking me?

Never my thing and still not

1.5 Yes, I like Paranoid and some of War Pigs, but the rest of the album is just not it for me.

Great music. Always hated Ozzie’s voice.

Too heavy for me

hate it... no stars... heard it long ago... and no need to revisit this drivel that, somehow, has become a legendary record we all should hear... lol... amazing what repetition and mind control can accomplish... some good players in this band... the lyrics are comical... the singing is grating and amateurish... the fake "bravado" is laughably weak to a real man... who did this scare? lol... pass... hard...

unbearable and overrated

Trött på rock

Gave it a listen but not for me

Very metal

Really? All the albums in the world and this is your second recommendation?

Demonic and hateful

Sounds dated, not an Ozzy fan, think he's a little overrated. If I was a hippy and was 14 when this came out I'd probably have liked it.

Didn't do much for me. I guess I expect somewhat different energy from rock music.

What a truly unpleasant assault on the ears this was. I can only presume that people enjoyed this when it came out due to some sort of mass defective ear genetics. Pish, utter pish.

No, just no. Not today. I didn't like this back in the day. If I never hear it again, I'm happy. It's better than some later death metal though.

I'm not paranoid but neither am i listening to Paranoid. I don't do heavy metal.

Another album that's just not my jam. I can appreciate that it has a significant place in the heavy metal genre but I just didn't enjoy listening to it.

this is sooo boring i hope the frequency at which im getting black sabbath is not representative of the amount of black sabbath actually in this catalogue . not any worse than the first one i listened to but i think i have less patience for it now so it gets less stars.

No denying it influenced so many metal bands to come but just too dark and harsh for me. No need to ever listen to it again.

Disturbing music.

Hard rock. Just a lot of tuneless, loud noise.

Didn’t like it

Repetitive; songs had a few common licks. Lyrically, the songs touched on dystopian themes, but did not excel at either melody or lyrical turn of phrase. Iron Man and Hand of Doom stood out. There are clear precursors of the metal genre; this album seems pioneering in the context in which it was released.

Too dark but the guitar work is amazing.

nahhh this was so underwhelming

boring

I ALREADY RATED THIS YOU IDIOTS

Fucking awful

Vertu búin fljótt, plata! Iron Man, Jesús!, hversu leiðinlegt getur eitt riff verið?!

Not my style

Give me my name please

Took me back to the sixth form common room in the mid seventies - happy days!

Not really listening to this...
