My favourite Beatles album is Revolver, so when it comes to my opinion on Abbey Road, I'm always like "Meh, they could do better." But whenever I actually listen to this thing I remember how STACKED this album is. Come Together, Something, I Want You (She's So Heavy), the medley on side two. It's forty something minutes of peak music that happens to also have the goofy "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" on it.
new fav song from this album: you never give me your money. a classic that still stands strong
Octopus really loved
I mean come on Medley at the end is absolutely goated, golden slumbers/carry that weight/the end was a recent discovery for me, been rattling around my head for weeks
I mean yeah it’s a 5, so many classics Probably quicker to list the songs that aren’t a 10/10 (sun king, mean mr mustard, polythene Pam, her majesty) but that’s being pretty picky 5
Timeless album and iconic cover.
Although The Beatles have long since left my daily rotation, this album will always be a 5/5 for me.
Iconic. Starts strong. Ends stronger. Some of the "headline" Beatles songs and song titles. The medley outro is pure power.
I mean it's the Beatles and I'm not sure they ever put out a bad album.
I Hate this album… Jusf kidding this album is famous for a reason. It’s just so classic, when i think of album i think of abbey road cause it’s so famous. This is the beatles in an album. I appreciate this album a lot since i grew up listening to it with my siblings and i could never escape it (not in a bad way). Come Together and Something hold a special place since i’ve always loved those songs even before really getting into music. Every member on this album does their thing so well it’s like a masterpiece group project. I’d imagine what it was like when it first came out, everyone must’ve been going crazy to hear this in the 60s. 10/10 OF COURSE
ME ENCANTA ESTE ALBUMMMMM
I have had many a friend tell me that they don't like the Beatles, or that they think the Beatles are overrated. I can understand the perspective if they've only listened to the radio. However, if that is the case, I ask them to sit down and listen to Abbey Road. Usually that opens their ears. If they maintain their opinion, then I know they're either lying about listening to the album, or I never trust them for a music-related opinion ever again.
Fantastic. If you haven’t heard this before, and want to know what a great band at the pinnacle of their creative power’s sounds like, here’s your record.

This one naturally sits right near the top of this entire list of albums. How could it not? It was extremely important for many reasons, but maybe the largest is where it sits in time both for the Beatles and the world as a whole. This record was the defining last stand for a band that changed it all. It is mastered so beautifully and the tracks included are so perfect. A blend of pop, rock, psychadelia, and the blues. Love songs, Acid trip songs, philosophy tunes all included. As much as Let it Be is "the most song of all time" this may be "the most album of all time". Use this as your basis to rate other albums you may encounter in the future - it is the golden standard. 10/10
I have actually listened to this album before :) and was 5 stars then and obviously is now. This is just it. When I first properly listened to it felt like I was hearing history. All of the influences other artists cite them as all demonstrated in one album. Just incredible. 9.1/10
I listened to this album while playing SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide, and I finished the final frustrating task needed to get the Platinum just as The End was finishing up. The Beatles really are that good, huh? And weird as hell too. Despite having heard these things for years, I never really internalized or understood it; I just kind of assumed people oversold them a little bit on account of nostalgia, but this album is really damn good, most especially within the deep cuts and the weirder moments that flow together like one continuous suite. And their vocal harmonies really are impeccable, my word. What a hell of a start to this project. Highlights: Come Together, Maxwell's Silver Hammer, Oh! Darling, I Want You (She's So Heavy), Here Comes The Sun, You Never Give Me Your Money, She Came In Through The Bathroom Window, Golden Slumbers, Carry That Weight, Her Majesty
An album I already was extremely familiar with and it was a great time coming back to it. Oh! Darling/ I Want You (She’s So Heavy)/ Last Half of that Album = Peak
classic. peak. history. bangers.
This album is a classic for a reason. It’s beloved for a reason. It’s iconic, it’s amazing, I love it.
I've listened to this so many times. Paul is dead!
I feel like I’ve listened to this before, but maybe so intentionally. So interesting how weird this band was for being the most popular in the world. Love the transitions between “sun king” through “she came through the window” were so theatrical and made the second side feel so epic!
The Beatles offer such a distinctive and unique sound, and this album is no expectation, it is full of classic songs evoking feelings of joy and youth that transcends generations. It's impact on music is evident as its influence appears across so many artists.
What more could you ask for? Also, best B side in history.
A perfect album! Maybe my favorite Beatles record?
MAIOR BANGER
This is the best Beatles album, best mixed and most focused amongst all of them. This was the perfect close to the Beatles. Let it be was released later but this album was the last that they recorded together
First album on this list that I *truly* believe belongs here. ★★★★★
One of the greatest (if not the greatest) albums of all time. Unbelievable that it was made by a band in disarray who mostly weren't even talking to each other and were almost never in the studio at the same time. 5/5
It's a fantastic album - used to really find Here Comes the Sun jarring in the listing, but this time I really felt that it fit well
the album of all time

Obviously one of the greatest albums ever.
A monumental accomplishment. I've always known The Beatles put out great music, but this album is almost hilariously perfect. Abbey Road has both slam-dunk radio singles, and a 14 minute super-medley; both heartwarming tear-jerkers, and gritty, lustful rock. I mean, on "Oh! Darling" alone, they basically predict every Led Zeppelin song ever. And that's a legendary fucking band! And this came out in 1969! Every single one of these lads was at the top of his game. Lennon's "I Want You" ends with the most arresting cut I've ever heard. McCartney's songwriting and playing is generational. Harrison writes the Beatles' most famous song. And Ringo is more than just a hatrack. Now I get it. Jesus, fucking, Christ.
Yess!! Høydepunkt: Something, Here Comes The Sun, Golden Slumbers
Fave songs are: Oh! Darling, Something, Golden slumbers
Childhood!! First listen in SF
ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT BECAUSE ITS THE BEATLES NONE BETTER EVER
4.5 stars
A certified classic
One of the best records ever recorded. Period.
Is this a question? Sheer perfection from the Fab Four. From the first note to the last gated note of Her Majesty, this is the gold standard.
Legendary
Of course, this album is not new to me. Nonetheless, it is a masterpiece, filled with classic tracks. But the Abbey Road Medley is the icing on top. 5/5
Easiest 5 star so far (not including albums on here that I already knew and loved). Obviously I've heard a whole lot of The Beatles in my life, I've never listened to this album in its entirety. I was working my way through The Beatles back catalogue not long before starting this challenge. I already knew several songs on the album, my previous favourite and may still be is "I Want You (She's So Heavy)". As a big metal fan, it's like I'm hearing some of those elements from The Beatles which is just fantastic. The whole album was just a big trip and the huge medley of connecting songs at the back end is one of the best things I've heard on record. I instantly want to buy this on vinyl and probably will very soon. I now have a new favourite album. Thank you Beatles !
Do I need to justify why this album is perfection? We’ll, excluding octupus’s garden… sorry, Ringo
So many good tracks on this album. And all are very diverse and showed how well The Beatles could handle different genres of music.
Perfect album, no notes. Paul’s bass and George’s guitar are both things of beauty. Unparalleled songwriting.
One of the greatest albums of all time. Despite being written and recorded near the end of The Beatles career when there was a lot of infighting within the band, that anger and resentment was put aside to make a really awesome piece of music.
évidemment c’est un 5 étoile🥲✊🏼
this was a great album. i really enjoyed oh darling! and maxwells silver hammer.
10/10
It really is an excellent album. Classics like Come Together and Here Comes the Sun both hold up, even as familiar as they are. But many of the other songs are equally hit-worthy. The Beatles are at their best when they provide the back-and-forth tango between vocals and guitar, almost as if in conversation with each other… you can’t help but smile. Standouts include the bluesy “I Want You (She’s So Heavy),” the longing and love conveyed in “Something,” the anthemic, atmospheric “Carry That Weight,” and fun, boppy songs like “Mean Mr. Mustard” and “She Came in Through the Bathroom Window.” Truly a classic even though I’ve never been particularly drawn to pre-1990’s music.
I think it is not possible to NOT enjoy this album. Besides the classic songs that show how different and rich the songwriting of each member of the band can do, the magic of the album grows with each listen, and even the b sides have their own magical touch( how gorgeous is "golden slumbers", for example). Having checked how the band did the album and all the struggles that made the band quit just make this album much more complex and beautiful. It makes me wonder what would be if the guys worked together... George Harrison's songs here are just amazing, "Something" is easilybone of the best Beatles song... 5/5
Undeniable classic. I've even come to love Maxwell's Silver Hammer. BANG BANG. Fave tracks: Something, Here Comes The Sun, Golden Slumbers medley
PEAK
Iconic album with lots of classics. Has stood the test of time.
The best. I love this album so much.
Okay you know what, yeah. The hype is completely understandable. I wouldn't necessarily listen to all of this so often right now, but I can only imagine this would blow your mind in 1969. There's a lot of great tracks on here, some phenomenal segues especially in the second half too. My favorites that I'd listen to independently were Come Together, Something, and Carry That Weight, but I have to give a shout-out to Polythene Pam/She Came In Through The Bathroom Window because that transition rips.
My favourite Beatles album, in an illustrious discography of great works. Discounting Let It Be, which was recorded before this but came out after, this is one hell of a last hurrah for a band that was coming unglued at the time of recording. You've got all-time classics like Come Together and Something, heavy songs like Oh! Darling or the psychedelic rager I Want You (She's So Heavy), lighter fare like Octopus's Garden and Here Comes the Sun, and even an over 15-minute medley of songs taking up most of the second side of the record, culminating in the absolute tour de force that is The End, where in just two minutes the Fab Four trade off solos and deliver one hell of, well, an end to the whole shebang. Not just the album, but their recorded output as a group. (Oh, and Her Majesty is there too.) No notes. This deserves its spot near the very top of the rankings on this website.
For some reason this didn’t click with me as much as other Beatles albums, but I still enjoyed it a good bit after two listens. Really crisp production, which I appreciate. I also appreciated how musically, all four lads got their moments to shine. Come Together and Here Comes the Sun obviously stand out, but I Want You (She’s So Heavy) was really interesting and stuck with me, and Oh! Darling as well. The only low point was Maxwell’s Silver Hammer, which was kinda a silly addition to an otherwise great album. edit: Original review was made on Jan. 3, 2025. Nearly one month later On Feb. 2, after various songs from this album have popped into my head at random times, I have seen the light. This is PEAK.
I'm afraid the hype is completely justified here. I've been getting slowly eased into The Beatles by this challenge, but it wasn't until our third album entry of theirs, Rubber Soul, that I truly started believing. To me that was the band at their best, just pure great songwriting on display with little experimental weirdness or psychedelia (which admittedly didn't really work for me on Revolver and Sgt Pepper). Abbey Road takes everything I loved about Rubber Soul, and infuses it with all the experience and maturity they gained in the four years between both albums. I like to jokingly say that music got good in 1970, but hearing the GOATs of the 60s transitioning those same songwriting chops into a spiritually 70s sound is every bit as good as I could've imagined. Even the goofy and off-beat songs here are a joy to listen to! I never thought I'd give a 5 to a Beatles album - nevermind two - but I can't deny how peam this is. Standouts: Come Together • Something • Oh! Darling • Octopus's Garden • I Want You (She's So Heavy) • Here Comes The Sun • Carry That Weight • The End
Impossible for me to be normal about this album. This album was in my dad's car for about ten years. It was the soundtrack to every trip to a restaurant, or the mall, or to run errands. I could probably play this entire album note for note in my head if I had to. The meaning it has for me is indescribable. In my opinion, this is The Beatles at their peak. No psychedelic weirdness, no cover versions, just beautiful original creations. You get two of the best George Harrison songs ever. You get Paul screaming on Oh! Darling. You have John guitar rocking out on I Want You (She's So Heavy) which is the best Beatles song ever, hands down, in my estimation. I even love Octopus's Garden. The guitar is so crisp and I loved it so much as a child. Genuinely the only blemish on here is Maxwell's Silver Hammer but the rest of it is so strong and it's not the worst thing ever. The medley at the end is sublime. The way they bring back the musical motif from You Never Give Me Your Money is perfect. I am so genuinely grateful this album was made and I think everyone should get to listen to it at least once.
Iconic for both the album cover and the innovation. This is an essential album for any music-lover. Arguably the best of The Beatles.
My favorite album ever. No skips, no nonsense, just pitch perfect track after track without an ounce of fat.
1. Come Together - remember listening to this when I was younger & being attracted to the nearly nonsensical lyrics. Also, it's a John driven song, Paul seems absent, but the duet is there. Is it Ringo? Just googled, it's Paul doing back up vocals, but the song features strongly of Ringo on drums & George's familiar guitar riffs. The song was inspired by Timothy Leary's campaign slogan "Come Together" AGAINST RONALD REAGAN. Did not know that! 2. Carry That Weight starts on a booming chorus. It's like being late to the orchestra, opening the door at the back of the theater, and getting hit with a wall of sound. It's very "anthem without context" & easy to imagine the singers with arms wrapped around each other, swaying side to side. More feature of Ringo's talent on drums & George on guitar. The transition into The End adds to that "was this written as a soundtrack?" mystique.
Top 5 album ever made, my second favorite
Yeah it's the beatles and it's cliche but this album fucks
klassiekertje + op vinyl :p
I remember sitting in our living room listening to this album on the headphones with super thick curly cord to the hifi. This is the nostalgic shit. Love how they can sing about dark stuff and somehow make it feel whimsical. Oh Darling gives passion and emotion and is my fave track.
Beautiful voice. This will be getting a few more plays when there’s a long drive to be done
The greatest album of all time. You get The Beatles at the hight of their abilities with songwriting, vocals and musicianship that has not been matched, by anyone but themselves, in close to 60 years now. You also have to mention the incredible production of George Martin who, while being incredibly important throughout their career by helping them achieve many of the ideas that shaped music production forever, also shines the most on this record.
Near perfect
Man, been awhile since I've listened to this in its entirety, but what a great album. Definitely one of my favorite of theirs. 4.5/5
I've always sorta said that mid-era Beatles was my favorite period. I love Rubber Soul and Revolver, and have been a little down on White Album and Magical Mystery Tour. HOWEVER, this album is really fucking great and almost 5/5. Only thing that holds it slightly back is Octopus's Garden (sorry, Ringo). That being said, it's just a slight criticism. 4.75/5
Proof the Beatles are not overrated
"And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make". Always a masterpiece. What a great way to end a career as a band (well, ignoring the fact that Let It Be was released later). This is a rare perfect album, no wonder it is at the very top in the global highest rated albums in this page, tied with Rumours. Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End is such a perfect ending, with Her Majesty as a nice little epilogue. I'm so glad to have heard the mash up of the three songs live as a closing for the Paul McCartney show I attended as a kid. But really, every song on here is perfect. I also love George Harrison's contributions to this record, both as a songwriter and guitar player. Been getting a lot of Beatles recently here. Revolver a couple weeks ago; McCartney's Band On The Run two days ago.
DOUX Vraiment génial
A true classic. Hit, after hit, after hit. A perfect example of what pop rock is. The finale suite is so magical.
Solid as hell. This album is older than me and there's really nothing I could say about it that hasn't already been said. This album has been really important to me at different times in my life and the medley that closes it out makes me tear up listening to it now. Golden Slumbers, Something, and She Came in Through the Bathroom Window are my favorites. Just infectious.Even when I don't think I want to listen to this album, I start whistling and singing along just as loudly as always.
obra prima atemporal
Easiest 5 I've given, such a great album.
No one needs to write anything else about this album.
What an album to have as my 100th album on this site! After a second listen, it finally clicked. These guys really are the foundation of so much modern music. The chemistry on this album is just unreal. McCartney’s bass lines are out of this world, Lennon’s voice has that raw power, Ringo’s is a drummer (the cutest), and Harrison’s guitar work is quietly brilliant. Starting with "Come Together" do I even need to say it? One of the greatest songs ever made. That bass line will be the first thing I learn when I pick up a bass. "Something" is a perfect follow-up. "Maxwell’s Silver Hammer" isn’t really my thing, but I can respect it for what it is. "oh! Darling" Has great raw vocals (makes me think of "I'm in love with my car" from Queen. What really hit me is how seamlessly each song flows into the next. Abbey Road was clearly built to be experienced as a full album, not just a collection of tracks. Not suprising results but one of the best albums in any genre. 10/10.
If Sgt. Pepper was the Beatles pushing pop music to its psychedelic limits, Abbey Road is them birthing entire genres from a much lower key concept. This is the birth of indie rock and pop, from long suites of music chopped into bite sized chunks to hints of metal and some absolute chamber classics. It’s an odd duck because it’s far more cryptic and a little lackadaisical compared to their other work. But maybe that’s why it feels like such killer and no filler. It’s probably my favorite Beatles album and still stands alone as one of their most unique and standalone works.
Will always be bias towards Beatles
A perfect and iconic album, and it’s not even their best!
Incredible album some incredible songwriting psychedelic
There is not enough stars. Best album ever.
Absolute masterpiece.
Excellent album. I Want You is phenomenal. George Harrison’s two songs stand out amongst the rest. Really all around great. Could do without Maxwell’s Silver Hammer and Octopus’ Garden. But they’re not awful.
Classic British rock album, interesting that they included different takes to highlight to subtle differences
The last third of this album is one of the greatest things in the universe.
I mean, it’s Abbey Road.
Possibly the best album ever.
C'est un classique, et ça a ses raisons de l'être.
Blows my mind that people hate Octopus' Garden, what a fun song. Anyways it's hard to rate albums this famous. I've heard the hits from this album about a million times growing up, so I can't really look at them objectively. That being said I was pleasantly surprised to notice the use of Moog synthesizers that I never picked up on as a kid, neat to hear electronic experimentation by a band that's worshiped by the kinds of people who hate electronic music, lol. It's always done in a tasteful way and is never overbearing or gimmicky. The drums throughout are amazing, especially on songs like 'Bathroom Window'. The mixing is beautiful, all the songs feel incredibly lush. The medley was mesmerizing to listen to. Also pretty poetic that the last two songs the Beatles ever made feel like echos of their early career, with The End starting off as more straightforward pop rock and Her Majesty being an unabashed lighthearted love song. I genuinely can't really find anything to criticize, I mean even Maxwell's Silver Hammer is weird in a funny way and not an annoying way (at least to me). Just a really pleasant album.
awesome
What the hell?! First John Lennon then George Harrison and now The Beatles?! One after another (although I did have Queen’s A Night At The Opera last night as an epic break!) now that’s not very random… What a classic! Even though it wasn’t planned, there’s no way they could have ended their career any other way than with this, their last recording, ending on a high! What an epic journey highlighting the strengths of each member of the band. Some of the material here is still as fresh and original as it was back then. Damn, this really does prove how some examples of music can be way ahead of its time and beyond!
Abbey Road is one of the rare albums that doesn’t feel anchored to its era. Where so many records on this 1001 list come across as “great for their time,” this one still lands as simply great. The songwriting is on another level entirely. Harrison delivers two of the strongest tracks in the Beatles’ whole catalog, Lennon hits peak cool on “Come Together,” and McCartney somehow turns a collection of fragments into a seamless, absorbing medley. What stands out most is how effortlessly the whole thing holds together. The production still sounds pristine, the melodic ideas are ageless, and nothing requires historical context to appreciate. These are songs that work in any decade. It’s an easy five stars. Timeless, beautifully made, and a reminder of what it looks like when a band reaches a level most never touch once.
If I was given one wish, it would be to travel back in time to the day this album came out. Every. single. track. Is as relevant today as it was Yesterday...sorry, I had to. This is the soundtrack to my high school years. Favourite tracks are Come Together, obviously Here Comes The Sun, and Through the Bathroom Window. All of them are pretty damn great.
Wildly diverging opinions and reactions to this album. I mean it's so obviously totally incredible and beyond 99.9% of anything else on this project. BUT it has Maxwell's / Octopus / Polythene etc so it's so not perfect as such. BUT the highs are just so good and at the end of the day it works so well as a complete article. Simply breathtaking... and therefore incredibly sad of course as it was the Beatles last proper release.
I genuinely believe this night be the best album ever made.
Best ever
This album is GOATed.
If and when I expect my life to end I want Abbey Road playing on a loop until I expire.
One of the best ever 5/5
10 out of 10 no noted
This one has the best Ringo song, therefore it's the best Beatles Album.
Until today I have never listen to this entire album front to back. I have, of course, heard most of these song aplenty of times, but never in context. This has been long hyped as “the best Beatles album” and that reputation somewhat kept me away for one reason or another. Same reason I have never seen The Godfather. I understand it now. George is the best Beatle. The medley is amazing. This album sounds crispy clear. I still think Revolver is the best album by them. That opinion is subject to change on any given day.
Holy smokes, what an album! Come Together opener sets the tone then to the classic Something. Side one is fantastic even with the "granny music" of Maxwells Silver Hammer, it shows their range. Side 2 starts with Here Comes the Sun then into Because! Great start to both sides. Then a Paul dis-track You Never Give Me Your Money, Allen F'n Klein man! This album is fantastic, so many styles and influences, it is a masterpiece. Go buy a vinyl copy and enjoy!
A great one!
For a moment, I though I might have to give this four stars because Maxwell's Silver Hammer is so bad, but the end medley as well as, "Come Together" and I want you (She's So Heavy)" mean it has to be a five. Well done, Beatles!
Possibly the best ending sequence of tracks on any album
Really fun listen, great all the way through. Great flow and listen as an entire experience. Really enjoyed this.
No skips ... Great record.
Classic
It's been a good while since I've listened to this album - I remember really liking it when I was younger but cooling on it as I got more into Rubber Soul and Revolver. There's some really fantastic tracks here though. Come Together is as cool as I remember, whilst I Want You (She's So Heavy) goes harder than I remember. Still a couple of tracks I'm not totally sold on like Maxwell's Silver Hammer and Octopus' Garden but they still benefit from some really great production. Side A is probably stronger for individual songs, but I do really like the way Side B is sequenced into these multi-track runs that flow from one to another. Gives the second side a very different feel, which I appreciated.
Peak music. Not the best by them IMO, but still perfect.
Mood/Vibe: Soft rock pop folky blues mix & I’m so here for it. An iconic album for a reason Standout Tracks: -Come Together, duh. -Oh! Darling is a song I didn’t really know but oh my god do I know it now. One of my absolute favourites. The screams! The high to low. The teetering on rock and soul. Sublime. -I Want You (She’s So Heavy). Yes. Perfection Replay? All damn weekend & forevermore Opening/closing song: Ooft the first song hits SO GOOD. Come Together is such a catchy opening song and it was goddamn stuck in my head all day. That strange bass/synth/drum (?) wobbly thwack sound. I can’t get enough of it. So fucking good man. Perfect album opener. Her Majesty the closing song was 25 seconds and I just… I don’t know. Notes: A few years ago I went down a Beatles rabbit hole. Listened for months on end but their catalogue is a behemoth of hits hits hits and while I knew of many songs I didn’t KNOW many songs and it made it hard to know where to start. I’m excited to cycle through each other their albums. This one is GOOD. Like really good. I love the bluesy folk moments, I love the absurdity of their lyrics and stories like Octopus’s Garden. The high-highs of Come Together, Oh! Darling and Carry That Weight are unmatched.
Can you imagine it's 1969, you buy this, get it home, put it on the record player and are immediately greeted by Come Together? It must have been mind-blowing. There are at least three different bands on this record, and I love at least two of them. I Want You (She's So Heavy} has been a favourite for years, it's so deliciously sinister sounding. We had a teacher when I was about 8 who'd play guitar and have us all singing Octopus's Garden, among other songs. This album just exists in the very fabric of the world. I don't know why I'm still typing, there's nothing I can say here that hasn't already been said a million times about this. It's Abbey Road, that's all you need to say.
Oh man. Oh god… I mean, what to even say. If I’m ever going to get a lyric tattooed somewhere on me then “And in the end the love you take is equal to the love you make” is, for sure, a top three contender. Thank you for everything, The Beatles—still, now and forever, the best to ever do it. <3 <3 <3
Simply the best
I have to side with the popular opinion for once – this album is a true classic. I can't get enough of "I Want You"; I've had it on repeat for three days and even figured out the guitar part, which really says something.
The most iconic album and album cover of all time, them walking across a zebra crossing outside Abbey Road Studios has become one of the most famous and imitated image in the history of music. Most consider this record the greatest album of all time. Most of my Beatles knowledge came from various compilations and songs that i've covered over the years, so I never really knew which songs came from what albums. I should've guessed from the way people spoke on the album, but I was surprised by how so many of the Beatles bangers were on this one. It's probably my favourite Beatles album as well. Incorporates genres such as blues, pop, and progressive rock. I already knew pretty much most of the songs from this album, 11 songs out of 17, so it was good to listen to the rest of the songs that I haven't heard in a linear way all through out from beginning to end. Overall, in my opinion its almost a perfect record of it wasn’t for Maxwell’s Silver Hammer which breaks the pace and feel of the whole album, I enjoyed each and every other song.
Easy 5. Their best work
What can I say? One of the greatest albums ever made. Just the “medley” at the second half of the record is worth more than a lot of other records out there. It’s just that amazing.
mastyp
It’s Abbey Road by the Beatles. 10/10
Their just album. Their best album as a group or individually.
Génialissime
Pas fan des Beatles de manière générale mais cet album est quand même objectivement au dessus avec beaucoup de morceaux cultes, des rythmes et instru un peu plus variées
Un classique! 5/5
gotta hand it to em, der er ikke noget at sætte en finger på her
This album is just a banger parade.. i don't think I've ever heard it front to back, but I knew every song and knew the lyrics for a lot of them...
Great
peak
wow i think they might've done something here
Obviously
A classic, non sapevo avessero cantato pezzettini in spagnolo ahah
Amazing album, every song is so special. There’s classics in here, there’s experimental songs, the instrumentals create an ominous tone at times and a glorious one at others. Amazing vocals. 5/5, simple as.
This will be a very fragmented, stream-of-consciousness review. No grand statements or linear writeups, just a few thoughts. It’s crazy that it’s been Dark Side Of The Moon, Physical Graffiti, The Doors debut, and now this all in the span of a few days. Specifically with this album and Dark Side being globally rated albums #3 & #2, thats wild to me. So few albums innovate AND are culturally, universally praised immediately. Listen to that little synth/keyboard in “Maxwells Silver Hammer”. This was 1969? No way. So far ahead of its time. You know it’s a great Beatles album when even the Ringo song is good. Please listen to the demo version of “Octopus Garden”, George Martin helped Ringo shine on this one. “Golden Slumbers”? More like Golden Melody. What an incredible way to work a melody into multiple songs. And how about "Sun King"? it's literally like an audible version of laying out in the grass under the sun. So airy and easy-going. Good memories of Paul's live tribute to George Harrison, with his ukulele version of George's "Something". Somehow nearly as charming as the original on Abbey Road. I could go on and on. Everything's already been said though. This has got to be the best album of the 60's no? George Martin reels in the experimental sounds of Sgt. Pepper's, refines it, makes it more grandiose - all while corralling 4 guys who are starting to get at each other's necks. Isn't it insane that they weren't on the best terms making this album? They sound so cohesive and imaginative here. So much artistic ambition realized with complete success. 6/5 stars, an exemplary work of art
One of my favorite albums ever. I love the way a few of the second side songs just merge together. Also this really sounds like it is the end of the band, lyrically as well as the fireworks of the songs, kind of celebrating what had been
I dated a guy a long time ago who hated the Beatles and made it his entire personality. 🚩
My second favorite album of all time obviously a perfect 10 five star album
An all-time classic album. I especially enjoy the medley and "Oh Darling". 5 stars
This was actually the first proper Beatles album I owned, and some days it's still my favorite. It sounds amazing for an album recorded in 1969. George really shines here, with "Something" and "Here Comes the Sun", and this is probably the first Beatles album since the early days where I'd say my favorite song was written by Paul -- "You Never Give Me Your Money" is fantastic. Of course there's plenty of other highlights here, including "Come Together", "Oh Darling", "I Want You (She's So Heavy" and "Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight" (really the entirety of the medley is terrific). The only songs that I think misfire are "Octopus's Garden" and the dreadful "Maxwell's Silver Hammer", which might be a low point for Paul. Still, there's enough greatness here to push this into classic territory. 5 stars.
Classic
I got to 1057 on this list before I finally got to Abbey Road, but it was worth it. Great album. No notes.
Abbey Road is the biggest break up album of all time. This entire album displays the songwriting, musicianship and charisma of th four biggest stars who are quite frankly sick of each other and ready for the next phase of their lives. But before the call it quits, they decide to make an unparalleled album to show that even when their friendships/partnerships are crumbling, they’re still the best band in the world. “Come Together” is the perfect example of this. Ringos sprawling drums, Paul’s deep bass line, George’s squealing solo and outro, and John’s near nonsense imagery for peace and rhythm is such a great start. “Something” a George song, is such a romantic swirl and the middle section gives me chills everytime Maxwells silver hammer and oh darling show Paul at his best (and sometimes worst, as John would call Maxwell “another of Paul’s granny shit) while Maxwell does have that lot tinnpan alley esque sound, the subject matter of it being the backdrop of a murdering psychopath gives it a sense of camp personality not found in his other old time timings. And “oh darling” a bellowing screaming, vocal range declaration of love and loss shows that Paul can be a master at all trades In what he does “Octopuses Garden” used for be an instant skip, but I’ve found great joy in this simple little Ringo number (actually rotten by Mr.Starr for once). Talking of peace and love underneath the shade of an octopuses garden is a great bit of surreal storytelling, accompanied by the lads musical arrangements “I want you She’s so heavy” is a whirlwind of musical genres (Blues, hard rock, bit of bossa nova and a proto death metal ending) that just speaks of John’s otherworldly obsession with yoko, and how it tears him up and drives him towards those multiple genres. And the last theee of so minutes with this doom waltz sweeps me away everytime “Here comes the sun” brings us up from the dregs of the last track and we float with the acoustic guitar and vocals just chanting for the sun. And while in the heavens we hear the clarion call of the Beatles perfect harmonies on “Because “ What follows is the Abbey Road Medley. A slick collection of songs that they couldn’t find conclusions too so they just kinda jammed them all together. My personal favorite is Sun King/Mean Mr.Mustard just with th e beautiful harmonies like in because, but then goes instantly to a tale of an ornery homeless guy. Golden slumbers, has that orchestral styling of Paul, combining his flowery arrangement and dropping a little grit in it Carry that weight, despite being very simple, I always just took as a metaphor for all four of the lads (also love the horn call back to “never give me your money”. That no matter where life takes them, they’ll carry the weight of this group and this experince for all time. And of course “the end” with its blistering solo and rare drum set and ultimate Beatles message of love you take is equal to the love you make Ultimately, this is just perfection. From listening to it a young age with my dad, to near obsession with it as a teenager and as someone who has lived a fairly long life at this point, I’m still finding things to connect and love about this album. A perfect send off to the biggest band in the world
Best: "The End" Worst: "Oh! Darling"
not overrated. a bunch of absolute classics and a few songs that i surely didn't remember existed at all; a lot packed into 47 minutes. innovative, catchy, harmonious, clean music that has and will stand the test of time. favorite song: Come Together, always
The greatest album by the greatest band. I don’t leave home without this album. It’s on my phone. It’s in all of my cars. It’s on my computer at work. It’s in my soul. On the list of 1001, this is #1.
Det som e fint med det her prosjektet e de gangan æ får høre på sånt æ av tilfeldige årsaker aldri har hørt på før og det vise sæ å være like bra som æ tenkte det kom til å være.
One last masterpiece from the greatest of all time. And what a song to end it on (I don't count her Majesty): all four guys both rocking together and having their individual moment to shine.
It's Abbey Road. FFS.
Fascinating and excellent
My favorite Beatles album since I was a kid. Lyrically, maybe it’s a little heavy on the whimsy but the music and production is excellent. Too bad it was the last album they recorded together, but they went out on a high note.
All the Beatles albums (except for Let It Be, maybe) get a 5 rating. I don't have a favorite album, but Abbey Road comes close. It's perfect in so many ways. Songwriting, singing, playing, production. I'll be a happy man if I listen to only Beatles albums for the rest of my life.
I mean, it really is that good. Maybe it's because I just listened to a different, earlier, worse Beatles album, but this is just so nostalgic and variable and great.
Despite wanting to be a contrarian, I did love this.
I noticed how much blues influence exists in the Beatles' work for the first time. Very cool album, so many little treasures in the back half. Not always lyrically there... ex I LOVED the instrumentation on she's so bad, cool running bass lines/organ riffs/etc and then there are ten words. Which is fine but I'm a vocalist and want more haha.
Core memory is listening to Abbey Road AT Abbey Road. I feel like Side A is perfect, Side B has perfection, the only thing that brings it down is some of the medley. But perfect way to end the band, perfect record.
Have never listened to the full album. Here comes the sun is a favourite.
I might be a bit of a Beatles fan boy but I've gotta give this a 5. It's not my favorite Beatles album but it's got a few of my top 10 Beatles songs - Octopus's Garden, Here Comes the Sun, Golden Slumbers. Just a deserved classic.
(listened before)
I've reviewed this extensively already BUT: I was jarred by the fact there was no fade out on She's So Heavy, AND it ended abruptly?! Confused. Shoutout once again to how transportive and ethereal Because and Sun King are. And how cool the intro to You Never Give Me Your Money is, as well as its voice effects and harmonies. WHAT a time overall like 5 stars of course OF course.
An all-time great.
When I was younger, I had a green second generation iPod shuffle filled entirely with Beatles music from all the CDs I had at the time. Abbey Road was always played first since it was sorted in alphabetical order. I spent a lot of time with this iPod so I have a lot of personal attachment to this album, along with the rest of The Beatles' discography. That being said, even without the time I've had with album, there's no doubt in my mind that I would still love this album if I had only listened to it for the first time today. The entire album follows The Beatles' last ditch effort to make their mark on the world as a complete band. While they couldn't have known at the time that their run as The Beatles was coming to an end, the album is characterized by such finality in the inevitability that they would split as agroup. Their end however doesn't close with a whisper but with a bang and such a grand finale that overshadows what would become their actual final album, Let It Be. To many, Abbey Road serves as a masterpiece that ends a flawless 7 year career that still remains uncontested in popularity, innovation, and impact upon the music world. A perfect conclusion to a perfect band.
It might not still blow me away like it did the 1st 100 times I heard it, but it’s still easily a 5 star album.
Probably one of my top 20 favorite albums of all time. And its not even my favorite, or 2nd favorite Beatles album. Something is my favorite song on the album.
my only real abbey road opinion is that 16 of the songs are window dressing for I Want You (She's So Heavy). this will be posted on the website
rating: 10/10 Ask me what the greatest album ever made is on a given day and it’s probably Abbey Road. It’s not my #1 favorite but definitely near the very top, and honestly could be one day, who knows. It’s just the Beatles at their consistent best after what was already the best generational run for a band ever, this is the synthesis of that. Their true artistic crowning achievement at their collective heights before dipping out after dropping Let It Be which is…an album. This had to break brains in 1969. I can’t imagine anything other than fans flipping the vinyl over and over all day long. A side is pretty much perfection. I won’t even hear any shit talking about Maxwell’s Silver Hammer, which I concede might the thing keeping me from concluding that is actually perfect, but I still love the song regardless. It ends with the absolutely monstrous She’s So Heavy, which is my absolutely favorite Beatles song. I would have a tough time of ordering a favorite 20 Beatles songs but I know for sure that She’s So Heavy would be #1. I’m pretty sure the band literally invented like 5 different genres with this one. Side B continues with some great early highlights (every song) and then flows into some great quirky little songs and ends triumphantly with the medley at the end. You literally feel uplifted by the mood of these tracks at the end of Abbey Road. The warmth of the Beatles is nearly unmatched, can’t wait for the 4 other albums that will eventually pop up here
Overhype + beatles legacy aside, what a great fuckin album 9.5/10
Grandioses Album!
Because the sky is blue It makes me cry
Es ist unfair, wie überragend diese Platte ist. Mein Lieblingsalbum der Band.
Really great. You can hear the fact that they are breaking up in the music
What's there to say that hasn't already been said? This record is amazing. Favourite Track(s): Come Together, Something, I Want You, Oh! Darling Least Favourite Track(s): Her Majesty
4.8 It took a while to get the genius of Abbey Road, I was always under the belief that Revolver or Sgt Peppers were much superior, but as time goes on the gap between them as closed such that it now arguably comes out top. Some absolutely unreal songs on here, I wish this was their final release instead of Let It Be as what a way to go out. To end the career of arguably the greatest band ever with The End...wow man. I'll start with the albums only low point - Maxwell's Silver Hammer. Another McCartney granny dancehall experiment that went wrong. Whilst they sometimes worked (Obladi) they often didn't - She's Leaving Home similarly kneecapped Sgt Peppers when it was in full steam. Ignoring that, there are a few other songs that don't hit the mark as well - Because showcases great harmonisation but otherwise falls a bit flat. But the rest are all absolute stellar tracks. She's so heavy is some of the heaviest music to ever happen given what else was out at the time. The ongoing coda spurred an entire generation of heavy metallers surely. Here comes the sun was what I chose to leave the altar to at my wedding. Come together is so fucking cool. But arguably the highlight for me is the medley. A lot of Beatles albums suffer from songs that don't hit the mark as well, which exist in number in this medley. But whereas on other albums you're spending 3-4 minutes with them, here it just blasts through them, never overstaying their welcome, and building something that is greater than the sum of its parts. It's absolute enguinity at it's finest.
It's all been said before I meeeaaannnnn it's been lauded and lauded and rightly so but I can't pretend to have some new form of laudation to offer
Can’t say I’ve ever listened to this album in its entirety, but I really enjoyed it
What can you say. Just pure perfection.
BEST 10 di sempre
Disco emblemático pero poca continuidad entre canciones. Cada una de su padre y de su madre.
Another true classic. Love the big medley at the end.
Yeah, of course, five stars. I imagine there will probably be too many Beatles and Beatles-adjacent albums in this exercise, but this is not the one to take off. Just the variety of impeccably crafted music here is stunning. I think "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" is too corny to be anything other than a trifle, but I can't really take issue with anything else. George might be the MVP of this album with "Something" and "Here Comes The Sun" but Lennon is close behind with the shifty, paranoid "Come Together," the trippy, psychedelic "Because" and the primal, minimalist "I Want You (She's So Heavy)." A note on that last song. I have complained in the past about overlong, repetitive songs on other albums, but I love this one. What a hypocrite! The organ stabs, the bluesy instrumental break, the swelling, chaotic three-minute outro. I understand if people don't like it. I've complained enough about songs like this, but I always ride this one to the end. "Octopus's Garden" is terrific. Best song Ringo ever did or would do. Paul may have my two least favorite songs here (outside the medley). "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" was a precursor to a lot of the silly Paul solo/Wings stuff I couldn't vibe with. "Oh! Darling" is fine, I always wind up singing along to it. But he saved his best stuff for the end. I've never really thought of the medley as a single musical work. "You Never Give Me Your Money" is a complete song in it's own right, and it's quite good. "Sun King/Mean Mr. Mustard/Polythene Pam/She Came In Through The Bathroom Window" is an impressive string of snippets that could have worked on their own as individual songs (but arguably, they were as long as they needed to be) and "Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End" is the Beatles saying goodbye. I pretty much like everything here, but my favorite bits are the Polythene Pam guitar bridge leading into "We Came In Through The Bathroom Window" and the orchestral integration on "Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight" (shout out to George Martin). Anyway, this is a tremendous album. I've listened to it too many times for it to surprise me any more, but there are very few I'd keep in my collection over it. Abbey Road forever.
Yeah it’s a classic for a reason
feels like home
Essentially a perfect album. Even the misses like Maxwells silver hammer and octopus garden just fit perfectly. Amazing album
hell yeah Rockband Beatles memories coming through on this one. I remember hearing this a lot growing up, my dad had all these on vinyl and they got a lot of play. I didnt really get into the Beatles until much later and man what an experience to listen through it all again. I love Something and Oh Darling but really the whole album is paced well, written well, everything hits just perfectly.
Loved playing this album on Rockband: Beatles. There isn’t a skip on this album! And that medley at the end is such a delight. This is a great album
Hit after hit
Great beatles
One of the greatest albums of all time. No question. So many great moments. The second half is pure, communal genius. They made this album while they were breaking up just to show the world that they could still make great albums. Great Cover Art.
Who doesn't know every note of this album? The Beatles in their "final form". Though the band was disintegrating quickly, their creativity still shines through. The band is at the height of their powers right to the very end.
10
An amazing album recorded during the tail end of the Beatles career as a band. Have listened to it many times which will continue for as long as I can hear.
It's Abbey Road, you don't need another opinion on it
5)released in 1969, the mood is sad, an overwhelming sadness taints this album, the final album by these blokes from Liverpool. Gone are the fun ditties
It's almost not fair. I knew every song besides maybe one or two and now I love them. I had forgotten that Beatles had some songs that were more than 4 minutes.
Classic
Absolute classic. Haven't heard Octopus Garden since I was little. Favorite Song is Come Together, little basic Ik.
Wonderfull
A classic with one or two songs I could do without but at its best moments this is hard to beat 5*
Easily the best Beatles record, anyone that says differently is lying to themselves. I could listen to this all day, each song still sounds incredible. Favorites: Come Together, Maxwell's Silver Hammer, I Want You (She's So Heavy)
As good as it gets.
Lads
Not my fave Beatles album but can't knock em
One of the greatest albums ever made
Classic
I think I've given every Beatles album thus far a 4/5, but this one is a 5/5. Just good music through and through (although "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" overstayed its welcome). What else is there to say that hasn't already been said?
Incredible. Literally peak music. These guys are GOATs for a reason. Wish I could give 6 stars.
classic
4.8 2x old clasic
Ganske bra, bra flyt. Ikonisk
The medley is summa da best shit ever.
This really is a ripping album. They really were greater than the sum of their parts by this album. Just stunning from go to woah.
Yeah ok, I actually get this one. Really nice. Great range. No wonder everyone goons to the Beatles.
Brilliant
one of the greatest
I will say, it was incredibly refreshing to just listen to the Beatles without having in the back of my mind how iconic they are. Imagining I have never heard them before helped me a lot. With that being said It is a solid four leaning to a five but just barely escapes it. I wouldn't call it the best album of all time, but it is ver good, there is just something about it that is keeping it from going to the top... But now Im relistening to a few of the tracks and I think it deserves five, even though the end was getting a tad tedious. I don't know, I guess ill know what I decide tommorrow, so freaking hard.
Possibly the most iconic album ever made
A masterpiece, of course.
I'm so surprised that I haven't gotten a Beatles Album yet! Number 121. I think this is such a good album, obviously a famous album for a reason. It's the Beatles on a roll of good releases. Just a good, dynamic, interesting album all the way through. So many classics.
Impeccable songwriting and musicianship by the greatest band ever. I am not sure there’s a better album.
An absolute masterpiece of an album. That a collection of music of this caliber was put together in the midst of internal strife as the band was beginning to fall apart is nothing short of a miracle. Start to finish, this album is worth absolutely every second of your time.
5/5
They’re called the Beatles instead of the beetles because John Lennon loved to hit his wife
Up and coming indie band
Absolute magnum opus by one of the most import groups for modern pop music. The beatles deserve all the praise, and I don't mind critiques but most of your favorite artists exsist and freely create music because of their influence. Whether you wanna agree or not. Abbey in specific is my first delve into the beatles, in this year 2009. I a young lad with an iPod shuffle and Abbey 2009 on it. My life was never the same.
Abbey Road is the textbook definition of a perfect album. The record’s first 8 songs are a phenomenal run. “Come Together” is arguably Lennon’s greatest achievement and the song is crazy groovy. “Something” has one of the greatest lyrics in history. I don’t care about the hate “Maxwell’s Silver Hammer” is excellent, and almost genius to be a kids song about a serial killer. “Oh Darling!” may very well be McCartney’s greatest vocal of his whole career. He carries that song to higher highs. “Octopus’s Garden” is impossible to dislike if you have ears. It’s so pleasant. “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)” is one of the most intense buildups The Beatles ever did. “Here Comes The Sun” is essential 60s. The optimism, music, harmonies, that guitar riff. It’s just so perfect. “Because” is one of the band’s best uses of harmony in their whole career. But then, there’s the medley. See on their own that list of killer songs isn’t enough to be as good as Abbey Road, the medley makes this album. The multipart suite that is “You Never Give Me Your Money” is an awesome start. John’s stretch with “Sun King” (great harmonies), a good groove in “Mean Mr. Mustard” and a rock n roll sounding “Polythene Pam” is excellent before jumping into the pop perfection that is the mini song “She Came In Through The Bathroom Window”. But the true greatness comes on “Golden Slumbers” a beautiful ballad that leads directly into the triumphant “Carry That Weight” which has an amazing callback to You Never Give Me Your Money. That leads into the rockin “The End” which has amazing solos and possibly the greatest lyric McCartney ever wrote. I always have loved the harmonies and guitar that follow that line and end the medley. Truly amazing medley, the grand finale to The Beatles as an entity and arguably the greatest 16 minutes of music in history. “Her Majesty” is a fun little epilogue
A great reminder of what a truly perfect album sounds like.
Been meaning to listen for a while, unsurprisingly. Good? Not my personal fave beatles album, but good Favorite song: Medley Least Favorite: Here comes the sun (still good) 4.75 stars
phenomenal
First time listen for me. Never been that big of a Beatles fan but wow, loved it. Absolutely fantastic.
Album 32/1001 Nothing more needs to be said about this album. 🧔🏻♀️ 🧑🏻 🧔♂️ 🧔♀️ 👟👟 🦶🏻🦶🏻 👞👞 👟👟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 Favourite song: I Want You (She's So Heavy) 🧔♀️🖤🙎♀️ Honourable mention: Something ✨️💕 Here Comes the Sun 🌤🌞 Golden Slumbers / Carry That Weight 🪙🛌🏋♂️ Oh! Darling 💔 Because 🌌 The End 🔚
Beatles slap, this album slaps, however d’angelo died today so he will get today’s spotlight x Voodoo gets 5/5 FTW
This is the best album ever made!
Also eher ne 4.8 aber eigentlich nichts zu meckern
4,5 - Bis auf einige wenige seltsame Experimente einfach ein grandioses Album, das ab sofort noch oft gehört wird. Highlights: Come Together, Something, Golden Slumber
A fantastic collection of songs. Those who argue otherwise are those same kids in school who confused obstinancy w coolness. That said (and who am I to argue with the genius of George Martin), the songs seems to be out of order...
Nice getting these actual great albums sprinkled into this list. Been quite a week of 1-2 star albums
Crazy how this was my first random pick, because I was literally just listening to it this morning. Abbey Road is one of those albums that’s just… perfect. Every time I hear it, it reminds me why I love music in the first place. There’s this weird mix of joy and sadness in it — like it’s both the end of something and the start of something else. And honestly, that last line still hits every single time: “And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.” Fav tracks: Something, Here Comes the Sun, oh! darling Vibe: warm, nostalgic, perfect for walking in the sun
Vinyl was created for this.
I’ll ignore Maxwell’s Silver Hammer. My favorite Beatles Album, with classics (Come Together, Here Comes the Sun) mixed in with a psychedelic rock trip of continuous music on the second half of the record that feels like one 15 minute track.
What an iconic album! I went through a phase where I’d get every Beatles album I could from the public library, so this is no doubt one I have explored previously. I did note a shift mid-way through though; ‘Come Together’ through ‘Because’ I knew like the back of my hand, but the second half of the album less so. Either way, an easy 5 stars for this band and one of their most popular albums.
maybe not my favorite beatles but cmon… it’s abbey road
Habe das Album an der Aare im Sonnenschein an einem schönen Herbst-Tag gehört, da hat here comes the sun gut gepasst. Und Because hat mich an meine Chorzeit erinneret. Insgesamt ein tolles Album!
This may have been my favorite Beatles record. Something, I want you, carry that weight are all awesome songs. Yes they have corny songs like the octopus song and a couple of others, but come together and others I can’t think of names are just awesome. Easy 5 stars.
Belle découverte des deux chansons de Ringo Starr et George Harrison
super
YES This is my favorite Beatles album
Pretty good band with a bright future. Well damn. Im historically a Beatles hater, because I find their fans annoying more so than their music, but not much to be annoyed by here.
I get to listen to Abbey Road today! Today is a good day! That's really all that needs to be said. Brilliant, Bizarre Beast of an album. 5
Great
My favorite album of all time
Perfection
Un excellent album ! Une excellente façon de clore le chapitre Beatles.
One of my absolute favorite Beatles albums. Really set McCartney and Lennon up well for solo careers.
I really like the Beatles I think there outside a really good band I knew a few of the songs on here and yeah.
I’ve heard of these guys. Will they stand the test of time?
Incredible genius of an album. Every song is a banger. Paul is the goat with putting together the medley. Still tear up when I hear golden slumbers.
Abbey Road is one of the best albums of all time, no debate. It's so good. Every song is good, and there are quite a few on this album. I cannot find anything bad to say about any song. Genuinely a perfect construction of music. Every single song is very well known, and iconic. Not one minute of downtime on this record. All the songs flow very nicely. 17 songs, some happy, some sad. Congrats Ringo on your octopus song, it's really good. The Beatles fucking cooked with this, good job. Easy 10/10, I love The Beatles so much.
I had only heard Come Together, Here Comes The Sun, and Golden Slumbers (as a cover in Sing). That's a shame cause this album is full of great tunes! Oops all bangers!
At the risk of sounding like a boomer/my dad, this album is the definition of a true classic. Absolutely iconic. Easy 5.
Obviously an all time classic
Love ❣️
It was great!
I mean it's the highest rated for a reason. I've had a lifelong love for this album, so incredibly catchy and it flows so beautifully ❤️
Classic
She's so Heeeeeeavvvveeeee
Yeah fucking absolutely mint, listened to it while playing Jenga. Maxwells silver hammer is fucking stupid, every other track is astounding. Can’t not give it 5
Absolute 10, though not my favorite Beatles album
Listens: Many (and I have this album on vinyl) Standout Tracks: Maxwell's Silver Hammer, I Want You (She's So Heavy), Here Comes The Sun, You Never Give Me Your Money, Mean Mr Mustard Well, It's finally happened. I've reached the most popular album according to the Global Stats of the List, 193 albums into the my journey. It's all down (or up?) hill from here! Abbey Road takes the number one spot for me as far as peak Beatles are concerned, slightly winning out over The Beatles (The White Album). I sometimes waver back and forth over which is better, but Abbey Road is a tighter production and is entirely more consumable. The White Album gets a little too weird for me on side 4. Anyways, this album is magical. Every track is unique and memorable. Maxwell committing multiple murders to a cheerful song is fantastic. The droning washed out sound that overtakes the music in I Want You (She's So Heavy) before the song abruptly cuts out is possibly my favorite vinyl flip in my collection. An then on side B, you have a 3x one minute songs in Mustard/Polythene Pam/She Came In Through The Bathroom Window that just meld together so well. And then finally, at The End, when you think its over, you have a hidden track with Her Majesty! It's both (supposedly) a first of its kind experience and a relic of a bygone era, where its practically impossible to have a true hidden track in the digital era. Side Tangent, I think my first experience with a hidden track was on Take Off Your Pants and Jacket by Blink 182.
I could write a whole review of how great the album is, but that won't be necessary. It's the Beatles at the height of their creative powers. Of course it's great, how else would it become as iconic as it is? It's not perfect, but it pretty fucking close.
Thé most perfect Beatles album
One of the greatest of all time.
Probably the best Beatles album, showing all their different personalities, romantic, energetic, funny, moving. Perfection
Classic Beatles album. There are some really iconic songs here and the whole thing is great as a whole. I don't really have a nostalgic connection to this since I didn't really listen to it as a kid but I can appreciate what a masterpiece it is now.
Once ground breaking, now comfort food. We know every word and chord change, but it still gives us the buzz that we got the first time we heard it. Music is magic, I suppose. It makes time travelers of us all.
Great album
I've been waiting for this one. First note, so cool that the cover has neither the band name or the album name on it. Yet, is so iconic! Anyway, here goes: For the 'last album', whether or not it was intended that way, it summarises the legacy the band left. There's a bit of everything in there. The singles/songs that frequently live on Greatest Hits albums are very strong. George Harrison offers up two of his best ('Something' and 'Here Comes the Sun'), Lennon's 'Come Together' is a timeless tune, and even Ringo offers up a worthy number (made better by an excellent underrated backing vocal section and fun guitar work). I have a lot of time for 'Oh! Darling', a real tune. I relistened to this album while ironing shirts and had a great singalong. Sadly, 'Maxwell's Silver Hammer' doesn't quite hit the mark, and while slightly catchy, is boring granny music that I would rather people didn't know I listened through it. I think the best thing is that the instrumentation on all of these songs is so well thought out. McCartney chews the scenery on his bass, tastefully of course (with the exception of 'Maxwell's Silver Hammer' - but did George play bass on that?), Harrison's at a peak soaring guitar solo, and the drum fills are iconic. Adding to this the Moog Synthesizer (a new product at the time!), and subtle, but powerful orchestration; it's an excellent vibe. My favourite, 'I Want You (She's So Heavy)' is one of the best Beatles songs of all time. I still remember the day I bought this album and walking down Glenmore St to that epic outro! This was 2009. Listening to Blur a few years later, I understand it's impact (in more ways that one). But, what did I think of the 2nd half? The whole blended song thing? It's not my favourite, but it works. Yes, there are hits and misses. But if you got rid of 'You Never Give Me Your Money', you wouldn't have a great reprise in 'Golden Slumbers'. It's something you enjoy in a different way to the other half of the album. 'The End' is a nice way to go out, 3 guitar solos! 'Her Majesty' could have been left on the cutting room floor. 5 Stars.
A far more mature album from these dudes. You can see they've come through the 60s drug error and survived to tell the tale. The lyrics are far more interesting, though there is still fun such as Octapusus' Garden. Instrumentally, they are in top form, and I particularly enjoyed the drumming here. A great album from start to finish
Yes
Top 10 Album of all time.
What is there to say that hasn't already been said? This album is fucking phenomenal. It starts out really good but by the end when the songs blend into each other it's next level

Tenho um amor grande pelo Abbey Road!
Nice
I liked review that’s joking about everyone put their best work in this album, and Paul is, like, “BANG BANG MAXWELL'S SILVER HAMMER-“. And I like that a lot of people praising GM’s immence work — for kids, that have Garage Band in their phone, for 7-minute meddley of songs that connected to each other, them need to invent how, cause nobody even attempt to do this before. But, look, McCartney wrote “You Never Give Me Your Money” and “Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight”. When many greatest art and prog compositions, celebrated as a one of the best achievments in pop-music history, pointing to that pieces as inspiration, and you could (arguably, but a lot of music theorist agreed) tell that OG is still better in every way… it’s just on another level. If “White Album” called by many as mycelium of 70s pop-music (and by continuation, as a whole), than in my mind “Abbey Road” is a rootstock of GREATEST pop music, at least next 3 decades. From Bohemian Rhapsody to Paranoid Android, from Dark Side of the Moon to American Idiot — you could see proof throught history that dedication in execution of Fab 4 on their final record was contagious. It’s not just an inspiration. It’s a standart for “exceptional work”. And I love that this IS complete artistic package! This is their final work, it’s called by the name of an instrument, that they perfected using and showed the whole world how to use it. And on a cover, you see them all different, crossing the road FROM Abbey Road studios, that’s juxstuposing to their first work, where they look almost identical on one of the floors in that studio. They are done, they moving from Beatles, and Abbey Road (metaphorically). And when you rotate your vinyl, you can see that the last song is simply “The End”, where they leave simple epitaph for the Beatles (which underlined by a last joke — “Her Majesty”). Even the bag for vinyl, which is standart non-fancy EMI bag for me is a “Yeah, we are not trying to impress you. We just wanted to made masterpiece as a goodbye, so… you’re welcome”. It’s hard not to say that this is the best pop album of all time. Cause, to challenge it, you need to not only write songs on a THIS level, not only made a thoughtful combination of them (anyone who listened it on a vinyl knows what I’m talking about — the made changing sides a part of an album experience), but you need a context of “probably the best band in a world” making the last album, and do it in such an elegant manner (thanks EMI, you tried very hard to ruin it) in a concept AND execution. If it’s not perfection, it’s pretty damn close. No score, cause this is just on another fckng level.
The epitome of music. Might never be beaten. The medley will play throughout the universe when mankind takes its dying breaths.
