Easiest 10 of all time mastapiece

Once again a Beatles album I'd never fully listened to, I knew a lot of the songs from being a kid, but being older now I get a better appreciation for them. The pacing was odd, but because a lot of the latter songs flowed into each other it worked wall. Was a really pleasant album, really enjoyed it.

amazing album one of the best in history!

really one of the greatest albums of all time. not clean but good

5/5. No need to listen, through I listened again (2019s Remix). In my late 30s, I discovered the Beatles since a kid with the cd's from my father (past masters v1), as a teenager got access to mp3, and buy the late 80s cds.. so my reference is the stereo version from that cd's, listened on an early 90s yamaha. Amazing, this album is on the top 10 ever... "And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love.. you make"

It’s all downhill from here.

Beatles magic at work, right there.

what else but a 5

There's no way this wouldn't get a full 5+. The songs are all unique and paint a colorful world. I just don't get fatigued with the Beatles.

The most streamed album of the 1960s on Spotify, and of course the highest rated album here. Recorded after the rancour of the Get Back sessions, The Beatles recover the harmony exhibited on Because. For once, the star of the album is George Harrison with two outstanding songs and introducing the Moog synthesizer to the sound of The Beatles. The rancour to come after the recording of this album sadly finished them off.

Forgot how many words I knew. Top notch Beatles, and fun to listen to the detail again. The crickets in Sun King - perfect!

Probably the most quintessential Beatles album. I knew this would be a 5 for me, but it was fun to listen again after rating a bunch of other classics from the same era. Nobody else sounded like this- this polished, this whimsy, this rock n rolling. Each song feels unique and that's exciting, especially for repeat listens - and boy, has this one been repeated. It's fun, but not kitschy. It's actually not even my favorite Beatles record, but it's probably their best.

There we go! Masterpiece. Art for the ear.

GOAT shit

Very, very good!

It’s the album wtf

Off to a good start, starts with 7 familar tracks followed by 10 more unfamiliar ones. A lot of the last tracks lead into each other, which makes the abrupt end of "I Want You" into "Here Comes The Sun" even more noticeable and jarring.

Classic of course.

This is tits

Timeless, masterful. One of the great albums.

Timeless, classic, foundational to modern pop/rock. Brilliant.

Flera riktigt bra låtar. Riktig klassiker

I think the Beatles were probably the best. All their albums are awesome.

A classic. A masterpiece. Makes you want to go out and triumphantly kiss somebody as soon it ends. Even the goofy ass tracks slap

One of the great pieces of work by the Fab Four. Can’t go wrong with this one.

It's great, obviously a classic. I listen to some of these albums and get amazed that so many great songs were jammed into it. The first half is so damn good. Standout is I Want You- its an absolute jam, that i hope some dirty hippies covered on YouTube. I love listening to actual albums, but the remastered stream has such better production that unfortunately that's the superior version to listen to. I had some mean things to say, but the remaster really fixed most of that. Original/Vinyl version isn't a 5, but the remastered definitely is.

Nothing more to say than "classic." Favorite song: 'I Want You (She's So Heavy)' Side B is perfect.

I love the Beatles, but everyone seems to suck this album's dick so I was a little skeptical going in. The Beatles just have this insane way of making every single song that they record so interesting and catchy.

Love, love this classic Beatles album!

The side 2 medley is still one of my favorite chillout blocks of music.

What more can I say here about this Abbey Road that hasn't already been said. The album speaks for itself in so many ways. The true "Last" album of the Beatles, with some of their most memorable and profound works. "Something" "Come Together" and "Here Comes then Sun" are all incredibly iconic songs that each feel so different. Cuts like "I want you (she's so heavy)" and "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" are just as important and memorable. The medley starting with "You Never Give Me Your Money" and finishing with "Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight"!! This album does all the things I want it to, the legacy has cemented itself as an incredibly important work, and to me it's the quintessential Beatles album to introduce to anyone unfamiliar. This is the culmination of the Beatles.

Couldn't give anything less than 5. Used to play the first 2 songs on a loop when I first discovered this album. Then memorised side B. Superlatives needed

No review given due to this being outside of my critical evaluation. This is clearly a masterpiece.

This is an album that must be experienced in it's entirety as a single piece of music. An all time fave!

Classic

Music is "subjective," but as far as subjectivity goes, I think a lot of people can agree that The Beatles's "Abbey Road" is the best album of all time. In fact, some people consider "Abbey Road" to be The Beatles's final album. It is certainly the album that yielded the most hit songs, from the tender "Something," to the bright and sunny "Here Comes The Sun," to "I Want You (She's So Heavy)," clocking at 8-minutes-long with arguably the best bass-line in rock 'n' roll history. My personal favourite song(s) in the album is the final triptych: "Golden Slumbers" → "Carry That Weight" → "The End" (I do not consider "Your Majesty" its own track). "And in the end / The love you make / Is equal to the love / You take." What a beautiful ending to the best band in history.

Another Masterpiece from the Masters. Too bad it had to end shortly thereafter.

Love the Beatles, love Abbey Road. Honestly a masterclass in song writing which stands the test of time

LOVE The Beatles, LOVE this album. It slaps. That's all there is to it!

I mean there’s no wonder why this is one of if not the most famous album of all time. Not only is it so incredibly influential but also just perfect.

I think the generator has an AI plant on me as I was just listening to this obscure album yesterday. I'm sure at least half the reviews will claim that side 2 is as good as music gets, and they would be correct. Yes side 1 is pretty excellent as well (and absurdly-so if we grade against virtually every other rock album in history) although “I Want You” is probably my least-favourite Beatles song and mostly terrible (only "mostly" because listening to Billy Preston's organ is worth a listen). I’d almost rather listen to “Revolution 9” - John was such a tool; all that "granny music" and a revolutionary sense of melody was the main ingredient in what made this band. I'll almost always hit the kill switch on the turntable after "Octopus' Garden" (which I un-ironically like - I always enjoyed the playful songs interspersed with their creepy late-period songs) and flip to side 2. Collection of some of my favourite little and not-so-little gems: • Ringo's drumming on "Come Together" - the performance and the sound. • Paul's bassline on "Something" - will go to bat saying that's what turns that song from potentially boring to musical genius. • 11/8 time in "Here Comes the Sun" • The piano on "You Never Give Me Your Money" and "Golden Slumber" - always always gives me chills. • The entire medley, holy moly. A perfect send-off from the band. Sum: it's Abbey Road. Take out one song and it's perfection. 9/10 5 stars.

Hard to say this isn't a masterpiece, but I've heard all of the Beatles songs so many times I'm kinda bored of this. Still a 5

Come Together is, sonically, as good as The Beatles ever got. And Abbey Road was also as good as they ever got too.

Abbey Road is The Beatles at their most polished, playful, and quietly profound—a perfect final statement (even if it wasn’t the last released) that manages to be both a greatest hits package and something entirely new. The production is pristine, the songwriting is sharp, and the band feels united in a way they hadn’t for some time. Tracks like Come Together, Something, and Here Comes the Sun are absolute standouts, each a masterclass in mood, melody, and arrangement. George Harrison, in particular, steps fully into the spotlight here, delivering two of the most beloved songs in the entire Beatles catalog. But what really sets Abbey Road apart is Side B—the legendary medley. It’s an ambitious, seamlessly woven patchwork of song fragments and ideas that somehow fits together into one of the most satisfying musical journeys on record. It’s clever, moving, surreal, and oddly hopeful, ending with the perfect final note: “And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.” Abbey Road isn’t just a Beatles album—it’s one of the finest examples of a band saying goodbye at the absolute top of their game. 5/5.

Damn, I wanted to be a hater, then every song kicked ass. The 2 George Harrison tracks here, Something and Here Comes the Sun, might be my favourite Beatles songs. There are Beatles albums that I may have lesser opinions of, but not this one. This is the one they should be known and lauded for. 5 Stars. Great album cover.

jajaja

I mean this as about as masterpiece-y as albums get for me. I'd probably put this on my top 10 of all time. I think it's the most cohesive statement The Beatles ever made as an album, with themes and motifs running throughout. And the second-half suite starting with "You Never Give Me Your Money" through "The End" is just such a brilliant way for them to go out. My favorite thing they ever did.

Ugh. Ok. So here's the thing. Maybe the Beatles are overrated, like, in some absolute sense? But man, look. There is not a song on this record that is not great. Even the silly parts are FUN, and the serious parts LAND. Those boys could write and perform a pretty good song! And what they accomplished in like six years is frankly kinda mind-blowing.

Damn this album is good, how come they aren’t touring anymore? 4.7 stars

The best swan song of all time from the best band of all time.

I could write a dissertation on how much I love this album. My favorite album from my favorite band!

Perfect. Just perfect. Even down to the last note cutoff.

Classic

SHE CAME IN THROUGH THE BATHROOM WINDOW

I’ll never stop claiming that the B-side of Abbey Road is the greatest music ever written. Chisel it on my tombstone. Most important album to me without a doubt!

Best medley 1969

I want you alveg ótrúlegt lag. Medleyið svo ótrúlega skemmtilegt, gítarriffin og trommusóló Ringo í The end alveg geggjað. 5++

I declare The Beatles: good. Golden Slumbers my all time fav song of theirs

I'll always love this album and band... this is to me just what i call 'music' and i'll always think about playing beatles rockband in my basement with adam and going to Australia with just an mp3 player with every beatles song on it when i was 11... this is their best album ...

how could you not give this a 5

I've never considered myself a "Beatles-head," as in I don't sit there sifting through hours of scrapped studio recordings, and I don't know the difference between all the million album remasters they have out nowadays. But if there's one album by them that I've had an obsessive relationship with, it's Abbey Road. It's one of the most important pop albums of all time. A swansong for the group and for the traditional pop-sounds of the '60s that were being phased out by the many alternative movements spearheading the '70s. For as "forward thinking" as this album is often described as, it sure does sound relentlessly '60s - for the most part. But I think that's fine; the Beatles themselves are, after all, ruthlessly '60s. The decade belongs to them, and they belong to that decade. Abbey Road, to me, has always been about execution. How does one execute a pop album? Like this. The first crop of songs I want to talk about are 'Something', 'Oh! Darling', 'Here Comes The Sun', and 'Octopus's Garden', songs that are relatively run-of-the-mill '60s pop - yet there's an edge to them, something exotic that elevates them beyond any of their '60s pop contemporaries. I love the string blushes of George Harrison's 'Something', and that vocal melody in the upbeat switch-up is one of those things that just sticks with you - a gorgeous depiction of one's crushing love for another. 'Oh! Darling' is McCartney's attempt at something similar, and while I don't like it as much, I do love how over-the-top he delivers his lines and just how almost '50s throwback it is. This song shines in its simplicity. And 'Octopus' Garden' is one of the greatest pop songs, period. The group vocals on the chorus, the cozy underwater feel and imagery, and the playful and simplistic bassline - this is by far and away Ringo's best solo track on any Beatles album. And if 'Something' wasn't indication enough, 'Here Comes The Sun' further solidifies Harrison as this album's unsung hero. It's such a perfect tune, with such a subtle approach, but yet with so many layers that so timidly reveal themselves, but then just as easily, go back into hiding throughout this song's 3-minute runtime. But going back to this idea of how to execute a pop album, for the Beatles, it wasn't just about making these conventional tunes (at least not in their later years), but about being able to fuse pop (i.e catchiness and accessibility), with sounds that will challenge your average Beatles listener. Which, at the time of this album's release, was damn near every human-being on the planet. It's far from their most obviously experimental record, that probably goes to the White Album, but there are so many off-kilter moments here that serve to round out the album experience. And these songs are why this thing still stands the test of time. For one, I've never understood what made 'Come Together' so popular. I mean, yeah, the bassline is iconic, but the lyrics are almost non-sensical, and the instrumentation is so barebones and minimal for a good chunk of it, and when that sing-along chorus comes in, it lasts for only two bars. But the song is still by all means incredible, so groovy and slick. And the fact that it's one of the band's most popular hits just proves everything I'm talking about with The Beatles' music's ability to seep poppiness and accessibility into any ambitious idea they choose to muster up, at least on this album. 'Maxwell's Silver Hammer', while not as popular, I feel the same about. The unsettling story of the psychotic Maxwell juxtaposed against the golly singing was certainly strange, but again, it's insanely catchy. I love the way the backing vocals get more exaggerated at each iteration of the chorus, and those blaring Moog synths in the first interlude (and the piano in the second) give the entire thing a very theatric feel, it feels like a run crew scurrying to set the scene for the next act during these transitions. 'I Want You (She's So Heavy)' starts off sounding like your standard blues-rock track before evolving into this monstrous, almost prog-rock song, with the organ and that distorted, hypnotic guitar lead. By the end of it, you're getting a full-blown King Crimson 'Red' era kind of cut. Getting a bit ahead of myself, but 'The End' of the medley also gives, oh-so subtle, proto-punk vibes with that noisy, distorted guitar. Maybe the most distinguishing feature of this album is the medley that encompasses a good chunk of its second side. And how each part of it sounds so different, employing unique ideas - and yet all the pieces come together so seamlessly by the end of it. 'Golden Slumbers' is my favorite. I love McCartney doing that over-the-top guttural thing again with his voice. I also dig the elegant baroque instrumentation and the way this song leads into the group-vocal chorus of 'Carry That Weight' that's then followed by that triumphant horn section. It's one of the most incredible music moments there is. On top of all that, the remasters of this album are just incredible sounding. It really is an engineering marvel that each sound here comes through so crystal clear. You just know that when you're listening to this album, you're hearing the entire album, every morsel of it. And you should savor it because Abbey Road is one of those perfect pop albums. A masterpiece in being able to pull every sound in popular music from the time into one tight package. An iconic, monstrous piece of art that landmarks music history like very few albums do.

Amazing production, songwriting and performances. This record represents everything that an album is supposed to be. If you haven't listened to it idk what kind of rock have you been living under but just go and do it already.

Soft 5. The tracks that are considered classics are amazing and all front loaded in the first half. The rest are just mid and some end so questionably abruptly. 'Here Comes The Sun' was my fave - it's such a sonic treat. Plenty of good ones to pick from, at least from the first half.

Astonishing to think how much they produced and how far they came in the five years and eight months between the release of Meet the Beatles and Abbey Road.

Absolutely great album full of all time classics

Immaculate album from the music down to the album art. Iconic: 5.0/5.0

not my favorite beatles album but fantastic nonetheless

one of my favorites.

There’s not much I can say about this album that hasn’t already been said. But this was the first Beatles album I properly listened to, after avoiding them for years in my adolescence because I assumed all of their music sounded like Twist and Shout. How wrong I was, and how glad I am that I eventually spun this. Undeniable masterpiece.

One time I was working at my uncle's store and I wanted to take a big dump that could not be hold, so I took a bike and rode home as fast as I could because the shit was already leaving my cervical cavities. During this ride I almost run over two people and a truck almost runs me over, because at the time my town did not have bike lanes and I had to switch between the thin sidewalk and the dangerous car lane. So the thing is, I get to my grandma's house, absolutely destroy her bathroom, and I immediately get back to work. Why am I telling you this? Because I was listening to this album the whole time this was happening. So everytime I hear "I Want You (She's So Heavy)", immediately followed by "Here Comes the Sun", I remember the sheer panic my guts were feeling, and the amount of relief that followed when the fecal matter left my body and George Harrison's sweet voice was singing in my ears.

Good to revisit, still great

Fav: Something Least Fav: Maxwell’s Silver Hammer No wonder this is always fighting with Rumours for the honour of being the highest rated album on this website, I get it now

8======D

C'est un album incroyable, malgré ce que John Lennon a pu en dire: «Lennon ultimately said that he disliked Abbey Road as a whole and felt that it lacked authenticity, calling McCartney's contributions "[music] for the grannies to dig" and not "real songs", and describing the medley as "junk ... just bits of songs thrown together".»

i mean it's the classic.

Ahhh a classic and I’m saying that as a totally unbiased person. This album is widely acknowledged as a classic. I don’t even have to listen to it based on the huge acceptance of it. But I will listen, oh yes I will. You know why? Well, I don’t particularly believe that all Beatles albums are classics. Let me take this bull by the horns and scalp it. Shall I? Let’s see…. 6 songs in and silence from me. Well, so far “I Want You” is the weakest song and it’s a 4/5. I must do better to squash this album. Ok we’ve got them!! Sun King….not good. Down half a star. That’s about all I could muster up with my critique. It’s a pretty solid album. 4.5 stars but I’ll round up. The good ones are too good. Choice cut: Here Comes the Sun

One of the greats.

10/13, 77%

After almost a year of albums I can’t believe I finally got a Beatles album

This was my first time hearing the 2019 mix and it is *fantastic*.

NUMBER 101! IT'S THE BEATLES, MOTHERFUCKER! i am literally crying when i saw the cover i even went to THE zebra crossing to recreate it the first time i went to the UK. so, the beatles literally means extremely much to me... and i love the most of the album i just dont know how to say how i love this album i want to techniclly break it down and build it back and analyse how awesome it is but it's literally hell mode for me so i will just say it over and over: this IS my second favourite beatles album besides the white covered one. imma going to silver hammer everyone that hates this album somehow. 5/5

Well you can’t hate on this album bro, its one of the most iconic of all time. That being said this shit sucked. jk I liked it a lot

There best album

Absolutely beautiful.

There really is something so special about the Beatles. You don't realize it until you do a project like this just how amazing and consistent their sound is. 9/10

what a great album to start the week!! there is a reason this album is hailed as one of the greatest in every list imaginable out there. This is what peak last album looks like. iconic! iconic! icooonic!!!!!!

Favorite beatle album. Can listen to it too to bottom

GOLLLLLLLDEN SLUMMMMBERS FILL YOUR EYESSSS…SMILLLLEESSSS AWAAAAAKE YOU WHEN YOU RIIISE

What is there to say about this album that hasn’t already been said. It’s Abbey Road, the crowning achievement of The Beatles and my favourite album by them. Probably one of my favourite albums of all time.

Goated

Fantastic

Would anyone dare rate this less than a 5?

Five stars. Great album

O truly wonderful album. The b side, almost one entire song, is a beautiful piece of music. (I used to love playing it on Rock Band too!) (17 known/29 new)

I feel like Paul made a back room deal with Ringo to get Maxwell’s Silver Hammer on the record in exchange for Octopus’s Garden

my english teacher back then introduced me to the beatles as she was a huge fan and it quickly became the first album i owned. this was my life back when i was like 11, i still have vivid memories of putting this on and doing my homework listening to it 🥺 time flies

So good on so many levels, plus big nostalgia points.

I mean c'mon. Side b is one of the best tracks ever

The best Beatles album! No doubt. All the songs are good and different from each other. You can really feel that by the end of their career they finally reached a musical maturity.

Didn’t need to listen to it. So fabulous.

It’s one of my favourite Beatles albums (though not my top, which would be either Rubber Soul, or Revolver), especially for the medley of songs on the B-side. The way ‘Golden Slumbers’ segues into ‘Carry That Weight’ never fails to send shivers up and down my spine. Glorious.

I'm not sure what more needs to be said - It's the Beatles, you love it or you hate it. I love it.

Don't be dumb about it. There's no nuance here.

A classic and widely regarded as one of the great albums of all time for a reason.

Track listing : 1 - Come Together 10/10 2 - Something 10/10 3 - Maxwells Silver Hammer 7/10 4 - Oh! A few duds but overall a bop.

Banger album. Favorite tracks: something, octopus's garden, the medley Will is revisit?: already knew the album Current rating: 10/10

First full listen of this one but I've heard most of the songs. It's solid

My parents had this album when I was a kid and it lives in my head and serves as the standard all music is compared to.

ubiquitous

Classic genius

The peak of music.

O que dizer? Perfeito

5/5 obviously. Just listened again and yes still a 5.

Absolute classic!

insane innovation and growth in 7 years

Probably the best complete album by the Beatles in my opinion. All four members have songwriting credits on this record and each delivers; most notably George Harrison's "Here Comes the Sun" and "Someday", as well as Ringo Starr's "Octopus's Garden". Abbey Road has become one of the most iconic albums of all time among critics for both its music and its legendary and oft-parodied album cover and the cultural significance it holds.

I finally reached it, the best album on the list! This is a perfect album and is probably the best Beatles album in terms of quality (although I prefer Rubber Soul personally). The first half features iconic songs back to back with "Something" being the standout for me. Each song feels uniquely different on this half which adds a lot of variety to the album. The second half is a medley which showcases how talented The Beatles truly were. When the best band ever makes their masterpiece, of course it's going to make it on this list. In summary, IT'S WAY BETTER THAN RUMOURS! Favorite Songs: ALL OF THEM! (Maxwell's Silver Hammer is definitely the weakest though)

Yay, The Beatles! Sit back, relax, and enjoy. I remember when the Beatles were putting out records ... couldn't wait to see what was next for/from them. This is one of the best.

Obviamente es un 5/5 pero en cuanto al ranking se me hace difícil posicionarlo todavía. La etapa tardía es obviamente la mejor.

I grew up listening to all these songs, but I think this is the first time I've heard the entire album, in order. Damn, if this isn't perfection - the songs, the arrangements, the medley, the hidden track, the flow of the songs, the album cover.... Favorite songs: Come Together, Something, Oh! Darling and Here Comes The Sun.

# Album Name: Abbey Road # Artist: The Beatles # Rating: 5/5 # Comments: I mean honestly. Does it get much better? I honestly dont think so. WHAT A FUCKING ALBUM! # Top Tunes: All of it. # Would I listen to it again? Fuck yeah!

Favorite Track: Here Comes The Sun

I like the Beatles Abbey Road Very good, very nice

Easily one of the best sounding albums put to tape. God bless George Martin (and Giles Martin for the modern remix) Probably The Beatles most iconic album along with Sgt Peppers, has some of their strongest material, but also has some stuff that falls a lil short from the rest. A lot of people praise the medley on side 2, and while it definitely has some great moments on it, the hard cuts to some songs ruin the flow. It’s a nice send off and a happy ending from The Beatles. 😊 “That’s Paul’s. I hate it. ‘Cuz all I remember is the track – he made us do it a hundred million times. He did everything to make it into a single and it never was and it never could’ve been, but he put guitar licks on it and he had somebody hitting iron pieces and we spent more money on that song than any of them in the whole album. I think.” - John Lennon “Sometimes Paul would make us do these really fruity songs. I mean, my god, Maxwell’s Silver Hammer was so fruity. After a while we did a good job on it, but when Paul got an idea or an arrangement in his head…” - George Harrison “The worst session ever was Maxwell’s Silver Hammer. It was the worst track we ever had to record. It went on for fucking weeks. I thought it was mad.” - Ringo Starr “They got annoyed because Maxwell’s Silver Hammer took three days to record. Big deal.” - Paul McCartney

Probably a top ten of all time, sunking, something and the bathroom window/golden slumbers part of the medley are just peak Beatles, even maxwells silver hammer sounds alright if you have an open mind

yup, it's up there for a reason, its good

It has been a long time since I’ve listened to this album. But it is still simply perfect.

I Realised I haven’t put this anywhere else so I might as well now 5 = multiple songs which I like 4 = at least 1 song I like 3 = neutral nothing bad/good 2 = irks me the wrong way 1 = a chore to listen to

Paul is the only one with his right foot forward in the photo. What does this mean? What really happened on the M1 motorway on January 7, 1967?

Man, I love this album!

I mean it’s the Beatles. Lots of fun, I enjoyed the deeper tracks more than I thought

Groovy. Great sound and lyrics

Yeah yeah yeah we get it it's the Beatles it's good whatever

Timeless :)

It's hard to argue against this as the GOAT. Has probably the best opening 1-2 punch of any album ever, amazing guitar work and production throughout, and the side B medley is maybe my favorite multi-track stretch of songs that's ever been made. Oh and the most iconic album cover ever created. Just all-around incredible.

Easy 5

As good as ever

Great album, nothing but classics.

8.5/10 Another excellent Beatles record. A tiny bit inconsistent - some of the more pure rock/hard rock on side 1 isn’t my favourite. But side 2 is just incredible. Best: Golden Slumbers

Is this the best Beatles album? Might be…

The fact that they made this album as a last hurrah before pretty much going their separate ways musically blows my mind. This and the white album are peak Beatles as individuals with more distinct styles all coming together perfectly on a project with the white album acting almost as a chaotic brainstorming session and abbey road being the finely tuned final project.

It's Abbey Road.

Well, yeah, an all-time classic. Very few albums ever made have this many good songs on them. What the Beatles were able to do musically is unlikely ever to be repeated.

All time favorit

Not sure there’s any Beatles album that wouldn’t get a 5

Obviously amazing

Beatles Top

It’s Abbey Road. I already know it’s great.

- sehr abwechslungsreich (hängt ja sicherlich damit zusammen, dass an verschiedenen Songs sehr verschiedene Konstellationen gearbeitet haben) - dadurch wirds aber auch nicht langweilig / generell einfach sehr gut hörbar - bei "Come Together", "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" sind ja richtig fette Riffs dazwischen - aber auch ansonsten hat mich da Vieles angesprochen, werde sicherlich nochmal reinhören - gefällt mir somit auch am Besten von den Alben, die bisher von B dran waren

One of my all time favorites

10/10....seriosly? Hehe

I wonder what would happen if Taylor Swift stopped touring? (I don’t like Taylor Swift, but she’s very good at what she does.) Anyway. This is my favourite Beatles album.

A classic in so many ways. Beyond anything else, bunch of bangers tbh.

alright finally giving them 5 stars, good job to the greatest band ever! this one was very good

It's really hard to give this album anything but a 5. It's long been a favorite album of mine- Ive heard it from start to finish many times, but probably not in a decade. I feel like it really is the magna opus of everything the Beatles came to represent- pop music, influenced by a plethora of music genres, brought together in its highest and mpst consummate form. Even filler songs like Maxwell's Silver Hammer are executed to the highest degree, and the album highs are amazing. I'm also a big fam of the Sun King suite at the end- it really felt like the group came together to create something bigger than in previous albums. Overall- top tier album and one I highly recommend.

Oke of the best beatles albums, what's not to like. This record is surely the most mature album by the band in which they demonstrate some of the their greatest songwriting and production skills. The album has some of the best and most fun beatles songs, like something and here comes the sun, there is something for casual listeners and die-hard fans. The creative feat of the album remains the meddly, ehich has excellent flow and sound all throughout. Overall this is one of the best albums of all time and a favorite of mine. Favorite song: Something. Overall score: 9.4/10

Obvious 5 star, I mean come on

The White Album part 2, basically, and that's no faint praise. What value and variety across the songs, the weirdness getting only more wondrous, with the all-time band, operating a very near their peak. The song cycle of the second side is some of Paul's best work and Sgt Peppers-comparable; had they not been breaking up perhaps might have been expanded and blown out for full artistic effect (the gorgeous "Golden Slumbers" should be acres larger, minutes longer). They are nursery rhymes, fairy tales and lullabies for adults (especially those that like to catch a buzz). For context: when a band's third-best songwriter writes "Here Comes the Sun"and the largely disregarded/overlooked drummer contributes "Octopus Garden," the band is definitely worth watching. The record only gets better with age. F-ing masterful and just about as good as pop music can be, and yet is somehow underrated, somehow gets lost in all the richness of the Beatles catalog.

Quite epic, their best

A universally revered album, and rightfully so.

10/10 Favorite Tracks: Come Together, Maxwell's Silver Hammer, Carry that Weight Least Favorite: Here Comes the Sun--sadly too overplayed, but that doesn't mean it's a bad song.

Well, this is one of my favorite albums of all time, and was released the year I was born. I remember the first time I heard it, about six years old, in a living room listening session with adults. I felt very sophisticated.

I love this album!

What a joy! The definition of an album. No song would fit another album. No change in track order could be made. The final burst of tracks, creating an enchanting medley, seals the album with a charming red bow.

Just a delight

Pure bliss. Great album

I really don't enjoy the Beatles. They are varied and explore genre effortlessly. That said, there is still that sound that they have. Their signature. It just never really didn't for me. Pretty sizeable catalogue and I maybe really enjoy 7 songs? I think the problem is me. This is a perfect album. I'm just not the perfect audience for it.

03/01/24 Obviously this gets a 5 star rating. Never actually listened to this album before now and not a big fan of the Beatles, but this was better than expected.

Ok I see the hype! That album was magnificent. I can’t explain just one thing that I loved about it but it just felt good to listen to. I had to spin it back again just to get in that good mood again. Incredible project!

I mean come on. It’s a classic for a reason.

Well this was an easy one.

Probably the best album of all time

Love it

This is one of the classics. It may not be one of my all time favorites but it’s close.

What's left to say ?"Abbey Road" stands as a remarkable finale to the Beatles's illustrious career, showcasing both their musical evolution and the enduring brilliance that defined the band. The album opens with a powerful one-two punch: John Lennon's "Come Together" and Paul McCartney's "Something," two iconic tracks that exemplify the songwriters' distinct styles and growth. These openers set a high bar for what's to come. Unfortunately ,the album's momentum falters with "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" (Why ? Why this song?) This quirky number, along with the somewhat conventional "Oh! Darling" and Ringo Starr's "Octopus's Garden," creates a momentary lull that might lead the worried listener to fear an industrial accident for the band's ultimate release. Fortunately, doubts are dispelled as the proto-heavy metal, Santana-esque intro of "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" kicks in. This track marks a turning point, ushering in a series of musical wonders that carry the album to its conclusion. The crown jewel of "Abbey Road" is undoubtedly its medley, a masterful interweaving of John and Paul's compositions that serves as a fitting epitaph to the band's career. This sequence of interconnected songs showcases The Beatles at their collaborative best, with each member's contributions shining through in a harmonious blend of creativity and musicianship. "Abbey Road" is a testament to The Beatles' enduring legacy. Despite a few "questionable" inclusions ( feel free to replace questionable by the term you'll find more appropriate), the album's strengths far outweigh its weaknesses in my opinion and stands as a great album and a perfect conclusion to the band's journey. 4,5 stars that gets the rounding to 5.

This OMG, THIS I‘m SPEECHLESS. Abbey Road, YES, is a pure masterpiece, GODLIKE, and iconic. I remember hearing this album for the first time, and I was like a deaf person first hears sounds. This is 10/5, unarguably 10/5, 11/5 even, if they put The End to the end. Words can't describe how I love this album and The Beatles. Calling them The Greatest Band is still an underestimate. Every track in this album is flawless; EVERY TRACK is classic. This album has EVERYTHING. "Come Together" is one beautiful opening. "Something" is so satisfying — I adore George very much. "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" and "Octopus's Garden" are quirky and funny. Songs like "Oh! Darlin" and "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" are wonderful rock ballads. If you are looking for good Psychedelic Rock, tracks like "Sun King" are gracefully done (I still miss John Lennon.jpg). "Because" is so beautiful, and "You Never Give Me Your Money" can be one of my favourites. "Golden Slumbers" Suit is Paul's most remarkable work, I would cry 100 times along with this tune. Don't forget "Here Comes The Sun"; this one literally saved my life. I don't need to say nothing no more. I will love The Beatles til the end of my life. And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make. Peace and love. Peace and Love✌😎✌.

Because is one of my favorite Beatles songs; the run from golden slumbers to the end is insane, i never realized how much i love golden slumbers and carry that weight; also finding a new appreciation for she’s so heavy

Beautiful classic

Banger, hva mer kan jeg si. Kanskje det mest ikoniske album coveret of all time. Ingen dårlige sanger. Annerledes fra all samtidsmusikk. Mest sannsynlig det beste Beatles albumet.

There are very few albums that can compare to this in the 55 years since it was released. 5 stars or A+.

This was rather brilliant! I'm pleased it exists

5 stars no contest one of the greatest albums ever put to tape do yourself a favor buy some airpods max and listen to the 2019 mix version shit sounds so delicious It’s peerless in execution I mean throw a rock and you’ll hit solid fucking gold I mean “Something” alone would justify 5 stars it is possible the greatest love song ever written just ask Frank Sinatra And don’t get me started on the fucking medley it is so jam packed with phenomenal ideas and melodies I can’t fucking even

You already know Will I listen to again: 100%

Obviously fucking fantastic. Here Comes the Sun will always be my cliched fave (,:

There isn't much more I can say that hasn't been said about this album, but when it starts with my two favorite Beatles songs it's going to be hard for me to give it any less than 5

Excellent as always.

This is the last album that the Beatles recorded together (although Let It Be was released after this). It’s as fine a coda to their career as you could wish for, although the tensions between them could be felt. Apparently John hated Paul’s “granny music”, Ringo had his moment with Octopus’s Garden and George had two of his best songs included. Side one closes with the relentless I Want You and side two with The End (and the cheeky Her Majesty). Sublime!

There not much to say apart from that it's a great album all the way through. There might be too many Beatles albums in this list, but this one deserves its place here.

5/5. Can I give it a 6/5 You won't find very many albums better than this one.

Clearly a great album. Had a lot of momentum between the songs towards the end. I can't really stand to listen to the Beatles on shuffle; I'm glad they put so much effort into making albums/innovating them in general.

listened to again one of the greatest albums ever conceived and recorded

ah, the legendary beatles! as with most of their albums, this one is chock full of hits. as with many of their albums, lennon and mccartney write the lion’s share of the songs with ringo and harrison contributing to a few. the band is firing on all cylinders with this one and while it may not be my favourite album of theirs (that is probably the “white album”), this one is still a standout effort. highlights: “something” “i want you (she’s so heavy)” “because” “she came in through the bathroom window”

An all timer for sure. Been getting pretty dicey lately with some of these picks.

So much pure gold in here. So many different sounds. I've never liked how it kinda feels like the album just turns into a grab bag but I guess I can appreciate that, this being their last one, the whole thing is a bit of a catch all for all the ideas and projects they might have had lying around. Come Together, I Want You, Because, Here Comes The Sun. Get outta town.

Listened to the Deluxe Edition - phenomenal.

Classic

It's Abbey Road. I mean...come on.

Loved. Favorites were Here Comes the Sun, Something, Golden Slumbers and Come Together

The Beatles' swan song, and arguably their most accessible album for a modern audience. Obviously, absolute classic. It's got two of George Harrison's best ever songs ("Something" and "Here Comes the Sun") and a massive medley that covers the album's entire second half. This really feels like the culmination of everything the Beatles did, and it honestly feels like the end of the 60s as a whole.

Probably my favourite Beatles album. Not as experimental or groundbreaking as the likes of Revolver or Sgt. Peppers (though it has its moments), just a collection of really good songs by a group on the verge of breaking up. I’m no musical expert but I love the bright “sunny” sound of the album (and that’s not just because Here Comes The Sun is on it). I could listen to the trio of Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End over and over and over.

I love this album. This was one of the first albums I owned when I first got a cd player and to this day it remains a favorite. Something is one of my all time favorite Beatles songs. 5

Abbey Road is a mesmerising kaleidoscope of the Beatles individual and combined talents. A masterpiece.

I'm a bit torn between 4 or 5 so I'll go 5 and say it should be a 4.5. Kicking myself for not listening sooner, there's a couple lesser known knes (as far as a Beatles song can be) that I don't think I've heard, like Something. I Want You (She's So Heavy) is right up my alley, providing a change of pace with smooth, slick verses and massive, atmospheric guitars in the second half, kind of like a precursor to doom metal. The clanging metal on Maxwell's Silver Hammer seemed like a good idea at first but it quickly grew annoying and it would have been a lot better without it. Octopus' Garden is a decent song, just a daft little thing but it's noticeably weaker than the rest of the album. Quite liked the second half as well which a lot of people seem to put down. There maybe aren't any particular standouts (though I like Sun King quite a bit) but it flows really well and offers enough variety to prevent the album from getting tiresome. Also, the production is class, George Martin was a genius Highlights: I Want You (She's So Heavy), Something, Sun King

One of the greatest albums. So many fantastic songs.

i'd really love to live in an octopus' garden

Definitely their best album. Has career highlights in one concise length.

Possibly the best album ever recorded. Five stars, easily.

Great album

Brilliant, just brilliant.

amazing album everyone should definitely listen to if they like music

This is one of my favorite albums of all time. So progressive for the time sonically and the songwriting is incredible, raw, and often silly. You can tell how much fun they were having when they recorded this.

I mean, it's Abbey Road.

Previously rated: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (5/5) Rubber Soul (5/5) With the Beatles (5/5) A Hard Day's Night (5/5) The White Album (5/5) ************************************************** Another easy 5/5 Beatles album. I didn't used to be a big fan of it - Because, Sun King, I Want You (She's So Heavy) kind of bored me, but of course they all grew on me over the years. It has the best George and Ringo songs (Here Comes the Sun and Octopus's Garden), the excellent medley, cheeky Maxwell's Silver Hammer, classics Come Together and Something, Ringo's only drum solo (The End). I understand why it's the highest rated album on this list.

i couldn’t say anything that hasn’t already been said. their finest album

Classic

A true rock classic, Abbey Road shows why the Beatles are considered legends of the genre. It's a cohesive album from start to finish that provides the listener with an unparalleled experience: Listening to this album is like listening to your best friend telling their stories while you're both at the bar. It was their last album and they ended a years-long career brilliantly. More iconic, impossible.

I wonder who that guy by the black car in the album cover is. Favourite Songs: Come Together, Oh! Darling, Here Comes the Sun, You Never Give Me Your Money, Golden Slumbers. Least Favourite Songs: Sun King, Mean Mr. Mustard.

My favourite Beatles album. Flawless

It's Abbey f***ing Road.

Abbey Road" is the 11th studio and final recorded album by English rock band the Beatles. The album incorporates rock, blues and progressive rock musical styles and uses prominently the Moog synthesizer and guitars played through a Leslie speaker. It is also known for its long medley on side two. George Martin agreed to produce the album if he was allowed to produce the album in the same manner he did on earlier albums and with discipline. There were tense personnel issues among the bandmembers particularly Lennon and McCartney. Surprisingly, the album received mixed reviews upon its release with criticism towards the production's artificial effects. Today it is considered a masterpiece and one of the best albums of all time. Commercially, it hit #1 in the US and UK. A drum beat, bass line and rattle open "Come Together." At least I think that what it is but also foreshadows all the little details and creativity that makes this such a compelling listen. A John Lennon song. A fuzzy bass and swampy feel. A counterculture figure. Is it John or someone else? He does allude to Yoko. The only single, George Harrison's "Something," comes next. Inspired by a James Taylor album and initially offered to Joe Cocker. Billy Preston on organ. Lennon on piano. Harrison with great vocals and guitar solo. And why wouldn't Ringo be in Sardinia on Peter Sellar's yacht discussing how octpuses live underneath the surface. Thank God, cause we get "Octopus's Garden." We needed a fun song at this point. Ringo's deadpan voice. Another spot-on Harrison guitar solo. George really shines on this album. Just to make sure they weren't missing out on the music of the day, they go Beatle-prog on Lennon's "I Want You (She's So Heavy)." At 7:47, the guitar and band overall does sound heavy. Billy Preston making another key appearance on the organ. I've always loved that little break with McCartney's bass and the ensuing yelling of "She's So..." A song about Yoko. Harrison brings the album to a crest with "Here Comes the Sun." Soft, melodic and gentle. Harrison wrote this while in Eric Clapton's garden during s break. No Lennon. The last third of this album is an eight-song sixteen-minute medley. Many think this medley was about selfishness and self-gratification. "You Never Give Me Money" kicks it off. A piano ballad which goes darker and harder. McCartney's voice deepens. It's about a dispute with a businessman. Lots of interesting characters throughout this medley including Mr. Mustard and Polythene Pam. We also meet a fan who climbed in through McCartney's bathroom window to steal stuff. The production becomes big in "Golden Slumbers" with strings and bass and one of Paul's best Beatle vocal songs. The band knew it would be hard to live up to what they could do individually compared to as the Beatles in "Carry that Weight." It's appropriate they got to to do solos, even Ringo, on their last song "The End." And what did Paul really mean with "the love you take is equal to the love you make?" There are so many different and creative musical sounds and vocals throughout this album. Just tremendous production. Could they or anyone do this live? Who cares! It sounds good as it is. George Harrison emerged with maybe the two best songs on the album. The medley was an appropriate and original way to go out. An epic achievement in every sense.

The two best Beatles Harrison tracks plus the B-Side medleys make up for a somewhat uneven album.

A beautiful album.

Perfect album. What can be said that hasn't already? Beautiful from start to finish.

This is Something. Why you ask? Because. The End.

Their best but not my favourite

Well the generator makes things interesting sometimes, Sgt. Pepper and now Abbey Road in a three-day stretch (with Arcade Fire in the middle). I have to say that it's been a great run for me lately on the generator. I try to not look at the ratings in advance, but I've glanced at the top 20 list a few times and I believe this is at or near the top, and Sgt. Pepper and Songs in the Key of Life are also both top 20. It's been a bit of a rough stretch in the world lately, but my daily album has been a bright spot at least. This deserves all of the hype that it gets. I had moments on Sgt. Pepper where I questioned the hype slightly, but that didn't happen here. This definitely slots into the top spot of my favorite Beatles album (the running list is this, White Album, Sgt. Pepper, Meet the Beatles!). It has the hits, it has top-to-bottom consistency, it's the real deal. This is their 11th and second to last album released, coming shortly before the band's breakup and the release of Let It Be. It starts with an incredible stretch of "Come Together", "Something", "Maxwell's Silver Hammer", and "Oh! Darling". Three of the four are completely top-tier iconic songs, and "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" is peak goofy-McCartney. It sounds like McCartney pissed everyone off by making them rerecord "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" a bunch of times until it was perfect and everyone was tired of it. This is the first time I'm coming across the term "granny music" to refer to McCartney's old school homage type songs like this. Honestly they're a little ridiculous at times, but I often find them to be some of the more interesting and fun songs on their albums. Time has likely erased some of what made them sound particularly "old" at this point, which probably helps. After that you get the token Ringo song ("Octopus's Garden") and then the nearly 8-minute Lennon masterpiece "I Want You (She's So Heavy)". This one is really simple, but it builds in such a big way, and then the sudden silence at the end is really striking, especially with the upbeat "Here Comes The Sun" coming right after it (though this is the break between the A and B sides in the album version). Then you get the layered sound on "Because" and the rest of the album which is a medley of a bunch of shorter song snippits. At first I wasn't sure I was super into the medley thing, but honestly I ended up really enjoying it. "Golden Slumbers" into "Carry My Weight" was a real standout for me. I've written a lot about the Beatles lately and I'm not really feeling much more writing, but this is just a top-tier album across the board. The band was clearly having some issues at this point, but it's really incredible how much quality music they cranked out in such a short period of time. If anything they really hit their stride late after they were wildly famous, which is definitely not usually the case. I don't have much to say about the cover art, other than to note that it's obviously iconic. I did learn that apparently there was a conspiracy theory that Paul was actually dead and the cover was used as "proof" (it alleges that they were walking from a funeral in this picture, Lennon in white as a religious figure, Ringo in black as the undertaker, Harrison in back as the gravedigger in denim, and McCartney walking out of stride with the rest and holding a cigarette in his non-dominant hand, which apparently was proof that it was a stand-in body double). All press is good press I guess. Pretty much without a doubt one of the best albums of all time. There's a lot of famous albums on here that I haven't quite gotten, but this isn't one of them. Favorite song: Here Comes The Sun Other: Come Together, Something, Maxwell's Silver Hammer, Oh! Darling, Octopus's Garden, I Want You (She's So Heavy), Because, You Never Give Me Your Money, Sun King, Mean Mr Mustard, Polythene Pam, She Came In Through The Bathroom Window, Golden Slumbers, Carry That Weight, The End 11/9/24

What can I say about possibly the most iconic album of all-time. It's nearly perfect, though I could do without "novelty" songs like Maxwell SIlver Hammer and Octopus Garden, but even as seemingly lightweight they are they are still expertly crafted if insubstantial pop songs. As for the rest of the album that craftsmanship is on display throughout. Side 2 and it's suite of songs is a nearly perfect side of music. 5 stars (duh!)

An exploration of wonderful warm melodies. Perhaps an example of the best soulful melodic compositions ever- and some well known songs. Wow

Masterpiece.

Anyone who doesn't give this 5 stars should have their ears taken away.

Love!!!!

Typischer Beatles Sound - ein paar Highlights und der Rest gut hörbar. Definitiv eines der größten Alben aller Zeiten. 5/5

I’m sad I have to review cause it means my next album won’t be as good….album art is iconic and might be the most famous. The fact that this album is off the back of revolver, sgt pepper, magic mystery, white album, and yellow submarine is insane. They mastered their art in a way only few artists ever have and this album is a culmination of a lot of that great work. Octopus garden is a brilliant song written by ringo. The whole album is like a love letter to fans saying thank you for everything but this is where we are now and we’re tired but please everyone spread love and peace and help each other. Their music is just timeless, so many wonderfully composed songs. Oh darling by Paul is a beautiful song, them keys!! I’m just thankful this music exists. Okay I’ll get off my soap box

Such a phenomenal album. I think this is among the great Beatles albums, and among the greatest albums of all time (at least top 50). It begins with the weird gibberish parade that is Come Together, and then moves onto what Frank Sinatra called “The greatest love song in 50 years” which is Something. Harrison’s guitar gently weeps out into the rest of the album, all of which is fun to sing to. And it all ends with some amazing drums and The End, perfectly finished off for such an album.

Absolute masterpiece. So many of these songs went on influence entire genres of music it's actually unbelievable. As amazing as the suite on side B is, I've always preferred the songs on side A. So many highlights. This is the perfect swan song from arguably the most influential band of all time. Their next album (recorded first) was kind of a let down, but that's fine. Key tracks: Come Together Something Octopus's Garden I Want You (She's So Heavy) Here Comes the Sun Because

Geniales Album.

Not their best but one of the best

Not a big Beatles fan, but this album is perfect from cover to cover

One of my favorite albums and one of my most-listened to albums. The first side of the album is a collection of 6 tracks, including "Come Together," "Something," and "Oh! Darling," three of the Beatles' very best songs. I've always loved Paul's vocals on "Oh! Darling." In my memory, I think I've always classified it as a John song because it feels like the sort of screaming rock 'n' roll he was so good at it. But I also love that Paul is singing in John's style here. "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" is a fascinating one. There's no other song quite like it in the Beatles catalogue. The second side of the album is a stunning suite that gradually builds steam until we get a series of rapid-fire tunes that move one right into the next, leading to the epic finale of "Carry That Weight" and "The End." One of those albums that helped me understand how great an album could be, as opposed to singles.

I'm really thankful that I'm alive for this record and for the window of time where The Beatles are what they are (who am I kidding I think this band probably has a case for being the most timeless band ever). Like sure, I could have lived during the 1600s and jamming on Vivaldi & Bach, or I could be alive during the 2900s, jamming to alien glorb rock, but here I am being graced with The Beatles, and Abbey Road. So many songs here are what I think are masterpieces: "Come Together" "Something" "Oh! Darling" "Octopus's Garden" "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" "Here Comes The Sun" ... I'm just writing out the album list so... you get what I mean. What makes this album extra impressive is that all of these songs are so eclectic and diverse and yet still homogeneous. It's amazing how every song could sound different but still deliver quality. I love that so many of these songs were featured in the movie Across The Universe which I think was a great entrance to The Beatles for a younger audience who probably grew up thinking that this band were something that their parents liked and thought they were just OK. Easy 5/5, and I think a clear top 15/20 album of all time for me.

A nearly perfect album

Amazing

I finally get the Beatles hype. This website, and the persistent insistence of some (read one) friend, has brought me to the dark side. Not sure whether this or Revolver is my favourite of theirs, but damn is it good. For 1969 too! Easy to hate the Beatles at a superficial level, but once you give them a chance, any music lover would have to take something from them. Because and Sun King as my personal favourites (both Lennon), but shout out to Harrison's contributions too, very enjoyable. I agreed with the rest of the Beatles' assessment of McCartney's Maxwell's Silver Hammer (not bad, but cheesy enough, didn't like.) I also agreed with Lennon that Mean Mr Mustard and Polythene Pam were "a bit of crap I wrote in India". But other than that, a top top album. 5*, a worthy milestone in music.

Better than I remember/listening all the way through. Not perfect, but gets there with rounding.

I have always loved this album and listened to it hundreds of times. I fell in love with the Beatles about 38 years ago when I was 15. This is an awesome album and clearly illustrates the Beatles as one of the most influential bands ever. Sure some of the band members were/are dicks but this is greatness.

This album is as good as people say it is! Not sure why it took me so long to give it a full listen?! Will this album make me a Beatles convert finally? Maybe! Fave Track: I want you (She's so heavy) - I loved this track so much and listened to it on repeat for most of the weekend, but I don't love that it ends so abruptly!

It’s easy to overlook the importance of Abbey Road. After all, it’s a record that has been dissected and analyzed countless times. Its iconic cover and groundbreaking music have become synonymous with the Beatles’ legacy. Yet, upon revisiting this masterpiece, I couldn't help but be struck by its enduring power. The album’s second side is a particular highlight that invites repeated listens. The sprawling, psychedelic suite of songs seamlessly blends together to showcase McCartney’s ambitious vision, coupled with Harrison’s melodic brilliance and Lennon’s raw energy. The final track, “The End,” with its iconic line, “And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make,” serves as a fitting conclusion to the Beatles’ career. Abbey Road is a testament to the Beatles’ innovative approach to recording. The album’s production, helmed by George Martin and Geoff Emerick, is groundbreaking. Techniques like tape manipulation and sound layering were revolutionary then and can still be heard in music today. While McCartney’s influence is undeniable, it’s the contributions of Harrison and Lennon that truly elevate Abbey Road. Harrison’s “Here Comes the Sun” and “Something” are timeless classics, showcasing his melodic gift and spiritual depth. Lennon’s “Come Together” and “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)” bring a raw energy and experimental edge to the album. Did I own this release? My dad owned it on vinyl but rarely played it. Does this release belong on the list? Absolutely. Would this release make my personal list? It’s tough to pick just one Beatles album. Will I be listening to it again? For sure.

Listened to this on repeat throughout the day.

There is nothing to say except, this is one of the finest recordings of all time

Arguably peak Beatles, where you can really hear everyone's style most clearly. It's not my fave Beatles album (I think Rubber Soul still takes it), but I can't not give this 5*, it's perfect. Come together: such a great bass line and opening for an album. Imagine you're in the 60s and think you know the Beatles and then you hear this -- what a banger for the ears. Something: having the second track be a "George" track is lovely and a great contrast to the opener. The bridge is excellent. Maxwells silver hammer, octopus' garden: she cute. Ringo has progressed! Oh darling: an iconic Paul track, the tension in the song is palpable She's so heavy: another great bass line. Love the bridge with the guitar and harmonies, just so satisfying. Here comes the sun: just gorgeous I learned today that "the medley" is the whole back of the album start at "Because" which is nuts -- bangers from top to bottom. Because: gorgeous, the harmonies are *chef's kiss*, but then again, the Beatles always had this down. Sun king: the harmonies in the chorus "ki-i-i-i-ing" really hits. Mean mr mustard: I dig the switch to 3/4 Golden slumbers/carry that weight/the end: all amazing, my favorite part of the album.

I mean

2nd fav beatles album I think. the songs just go places

I can’t add anything about Abbey Road that hasn’t already been said a thousand times. I’ve loved the Beatles for probably 30 years (I’m 37), and time has shown me this is their best album. Considering the quality of Plastic Ono Band and All Things Must Pass and some of Paul’s early solo singles it’s tempting to wonder what one more Beatles LP would have sounded like, but it’s hard to argue that they went out on an incredibly high note (I know Let It Be was released after but as this was their last recorded album I sort of consider it the end). George especially kills it here, between this and ATMP he was at such a creative peak. It’s completely valid that this is the highest rated album on this list.

This album has doom metal on it before doom metal was a thing, and then it follows it up with "Here Comes the Sun".. and it works. Considering all the varied and heavy material on this album, even Octopus's Garden & Maxwell's Silver Hammer are welcome contributions, providing some fun goofball energy when needed. The last 7 or so tracks barely clock in over a couple of minutes each, becoming a bit of a medley. What could easily have been material for a whole additional album of music if more fleshed out is instead flexed like they just can't contain their own prolific creativities. Their forthcoming solo careers provided plenty of ample space to explore these fertile grounds but they never had the guardrails of each other to check/balance themselves after this high water mark.

++*: Octopus's Garden, I Want You (She's So Heavy), Here Comes the Sun, Sun King, Mean Mr. Mustard, The End, Her Majesty ++: Come Together, Something, Maxwell's Silver Hammer, Oh! Darling, Because, Polythene Pam, She Came In Through the Bathroom Window, Golden Slumbers, Carry That Weight 10/10

All around great album, an easy, fun, listen.

There’s a reason why The Beatles are on every “top” list. What they did for rock and roll in 7 years in unfathomable. True Goats.

Can I rate this a 6?

A masterpiece. Few albums have influenced so many people and genres, continuing to branch from this common ancestor. A hugely nostalgic listen from childhood Breakfast with the Beatles and a young love for the band. The Beatles make excellent music for children. Growing up and learning more about all of the stories and issues in how this album was made, it's a much different picture. I'm sure it's an album that will continue to evolve throughout my life

10/10, one of the best ever

A masterpiece. (Once we get Maxwell's Awful Silver Hammer out of the way!)

I’m aware this is regarded as one of the best albums of all time but does it live up to the hype? Well the answer is yes and I can’t believe it’s taken me until I'm nearly 50 to listen to it! A magnificent album from start to finish and it feels like the culmination of everything they’d learnt making music over the years. I’ve tried listening to a couple of their albums previously but often found the big songs overshadowed the rest. This feels like more of a complete album with no tracks I wanted to skip. The Beatles body of work and progression from the start to this in only 6/7 years is bonkers. I won’t be leaving it another 49 years to listen to it again (already on my third play today!)

I'm glad I got Abbey Road after some uninspiring albums. I've heard Abbey Road many times, and listen to songs from it quite often. It's just an absolute classic, with every song standing out, and most of the songs being iconic just by themselves, like Come Together. There's good variety in the types of songs on Abbey Road as well. You have the obligatory strange but fun songs like Octopus's Garden, the heavy but sensual sounding Come Together and I Want You, and then you have the lovely uplifting Here Comes the Sun. Just a great album.

I think I am constantly surprised by how prolific the Beatles catalog is in such a short amount of time and this is just another great reminder

Best album for the Beatles, the last album and one of the best. 5/5. No doubt.

B-side

4th or 5th favorite Beatles album. Still great.

First time listen. Highlights: side b

Remastered 2009. The big guitar riff in Come Together sounds so good, and so does the rumbling low end in the coda. Something has a riff that could have been on a Pink Floyd album. It's slow and purposeful, with real weight to it. In general I appreciate the stero effects and little details. It's the kind of clear mix I like with all the instruments distinct and punchy. It's not all quiet and proggy either, Oh! Darling has an aggressive chorus and heavy drumming and I Want You (She's So Heavy) is true to its name with a crushing riff (ok, it's still 1969!) Side two starts with a change of pace but another heavy hitter in Here Comes the Sun, and Because features the Moog synthesizer to great effect. The rest of the album is a medley winding its way through 8 tracks over 16 minutes. There's lots of good parts, but Golden Slumbers might be the prettiest bit and has a perfect transition into Carry That Weight. Overall, an ambitious and enduring work. With the band starting to fall apart at the seams, it's almost unbelievable how good it is.

Words can’t quite convey the emotional attachment I have for this album. The songs of all songs? By the band of all bands? On the album of all albums? It made me feel like today was the day of all days. This is just the album you think of when you hear 1001 albums you have to listen to before you die. This album is in my top 10 at least.

Of course I knew the album. The cover is great and a justifiably widespread meme. In fact, I've never heard the album in its entirety, only individual tracks. It was worth catching up now. 5/5

Thoughts before listening: This is typically considered the Beatles' best album. It definitely has a lot of their more "classic rock" sounding songs. I have always enjoyed this album and tend to agree that its their best although really all of their later albums are killer. Review: Abbey Road certainly lives up to its status as one of the Beatles' best. Its hard to add much more to the praise that this album has received, so I will just say that while I enjoy songs through out the tracklist, the best part is the ending song suite. This is an album full of classics that does live up to its reputation. 5-stars

What can I say? It’s motherfuckin Abby Road! ‘Nuff said!

It's probably my favorite Beatles album, if I'm being honest with myself. I studied the side two medley when I was a kid. It still thrills.

"Abbey Road" is still awesome after listening to it many times. An absolute blast compared to the last album I reviewed. Almost every minute of it is a masterpiece. "I Want You" and "Come Together" are my favourites. I think "Let It Be" wasn't great so I say "Abbey Road" is the Beatles' true final album. I'll give "Abbey Road" no less than 5 stars.

Been in the top 10 my entire life and I reckon it’ll stay there. The most focused and coherent Beatles album. Contains several of the best singles as well as the best side progression of their discography. Masterpiece.

The last Beatles album (Let It Be doesn't count as that was just reworked from the Get Back sessions), in-fighting and tension was so much that many songs don't feature the full band. Speaking of individuals, the songs here definitely show that... John was getting bluesy with "Come Together" and "I Want You (She's So Heavy)". Paul was waist deep in "granny music" with shit like "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" that had already been bumped from The White Album and derided in the Get Back documentary. George was still riding that "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" high from the White Album with the truly great "Something" and "Here Comes The Sun". And Ringo had "Octopus's Garden", can't have them all Ringo, but you miss 100% of the shots you don't take, at least you got a badass drum solo on this album. Then they just went their separate ways and stopped recording a month before this was released and George Martin scraped together bits and bobs to make the suite medley that ends the album. Its The Beatles, so I'mma give it 5 stars, but the end of The Beatles is definitely a bittersweet thing.

The range on this album is just so impressive and makes it really fun to listen to all the way through. Kind of tried to pretend I was listening for the first time. My only hangup is it's hard to hear Octopus's Garden as anything but a kids' song, and that makes it feel out of place. (It comes after Oh Darling and before I Want You/She's So Heavy....) Yes there are universal themes in Octopus's Garden, even serious/adult themes, but still, it's the playful instrumentalizing combined with the surface content... I've never been sold on it.

I have listened to this album countless times since I was a kid and was all too happy to listen again. Abbey Road is my most favorite Beatles album and one of my favorite albums of all time. There are no stinkers on it. Not one. It’s enjoyable from start to finish. It’s quirky and fun and creative and catchy. Even though I know I can listen to it whenever I want, for some reason I got really excited when I saw that it was my next album. I felt like a precious gift had been bestowed upon me 😂 So many good memories attached to this album. My favorite songs are both George songs, Because, Oh! Darling, and the medley at the end ❤️

isnt this like the holy grail of the 1001 albums??

Excellent album

We knew this review was coming, love it. Not my favorite Beatles album, but certainly deserves the accolades it receives. Listened to it and it took me back to being in high school all over again
