Beatles have weird tunes
Enough amazing tracks on this to make it a 5-star album, but to be honest I could have done without a couple of songs like Maxwell's Silver Hammer or Polythene Pam.

Outstanding album. The first two tracks are two of the best of all time and the medley-style second half works very nicely. Something my favourite track.
At time of writing this review Abbey Road is the highest rated album on this website. (and if you ever scroll far enough down the reviews and bother to read this, it will most likely still be the highest rated album at time of reading) Personally I prefer Revolver but that doesn’t stop this being a masterpiece and deserving of the accolade of one of the greatest albums of all time, even if it’s only my second favourite Beatles album. So many great songs on the album and an album everyone can appreciate. What isn’t to like, though my wife does hate octopus’s garden, she probably has a point. 5 Stars
Not my favourite Beatles album, but still so good. There is so much variety in the songs, their structure and their production.
Um so yeah, great album. Minus Maxwell’s Silver Hammer. That song ruined the album, great job Paul lol. But still great fucking album. This is the last album the Beatles recorded together, but the second to last that was released (Let It Be album was released afterwards bc they were trying to make the Get Back movie series, but that didn’t actually happen until 2021 lol). Come Together - banger Something - best love song ever written Maxwell's Silver Hammer - suck a dong Oh! Darling - ight, but a banger nonetheless Octopus's Garden - well it’s at least the best song Ringo ever wrote haha I Want You (She's So Heavy) - absolute fucking brilliance Here Comes the Sun - gorgeous, thank you George <3 Because - heart melting You Never Give Me Your Money - stunning piano Sun King - always sounds like a peaceful summer night Mean Mr. Mustard - I mean, it’s ight haha Polythene Pam - I mean, it’s ight haha She Came In Through the Bathroom Window - a bangin song about a prostitute bangin? Hell yeah Golden Slumbers - sweetest lil lullaby Carry That Weight - so sad bc you know it’s getting near to the end. Great reprise of You Never Give Me Your Money The End - absolutely fantastic, but so sad bc this is the last song the Beatles wrote and recorded. They all have rockin solos Her Majesty - the Beatles shortest song ever. Also, very overused in memes right now. In general: 9/10 My rating: 9/10
A master class in rock music. I want you (she's so heavy) is fucking ridiculous. The B side medley, always great. Ends strong. That fucker Ringo really likes the ocean.

Come Together is a good song, it has an iconic bass line and there is a reason it is well known. Something was okay, I didn’t like it as much as Come Together but I can see how someone would enjoy it. Maxwell’s Silver Hammer wasn’t what I expected, although I didn’t know what to expect, again it was okay though. Oh! Darling I did quite enjoy, especially the more strained, rocky, Roger Taylor-esque vocals, my favourite song so far. Octupus’s Garden is to catchy, I don’t want to like it, given how ridiculous it is, bug I’d be lying if I said I didn’t. I Want You (She’s So Heavy) was okay, I was a fan of the heavier segments because I like metal breakdowns, so I’ll give it that, wasn’t my favourite, wasn’t the worst. Here Comes The Sun I don’t like, I can’t say why, the guitar is fine, the song is iconic, the vocals are good, I just don’t like it and don’t think it should be their most popular song. Because I feel weird about, I feel like it would work better if it was covered by a band like Ghost, it would fit their creepier aesthetic well, but it was ok. You Never Give Me Your Money I know because of the Tenacious D cover, which I love, it so upbeat and fun, and I do prefer it over this version, but this is still decent. Sun King I wasn’t a huge fan of, it was a tad to dreary for me, however the change in language caught me off guard. Mean Mr Mustard was good in comparison to Sun King, I quite enjoyed the drums. Polythene Pam segued quite well from MMM, which then flowed nicely to… She Came In Through The Bathroom Window, which is fine, I have preferred other songs, but this is one of my higher songs, although I feel like this, PP, MMM and possibly Sun King should have been one big song. Golden Slumbers I didn’t know that I knew, it’s an okay song, but I have known the song for years and didn’t know it was by them, so that was a nice surprise. Carry That Way again segued nicely from Golden Slumbers, and I did like it, especially the callback to YNGMYM. The End is the other half of the Tenacious D cover, so I did know this as well, again preferred the Tenacious D cover, however I did like this version as well, and I really liked the guitar solo and drums. Her Majesty I don’t think should be on the album, it was unnecessary, it should have ended with The End. Overall, my dislike of the Beatles may have been unwarranted, Abbey Road was a pretty good album, I think some songs were better than others, and that some *cough* HCTS *cough* are quite overrated, but I get why this is one of the greatest albums now. 4.6/5

Kinda mid, and boring even though it has diverse soundscape
Abbey Road is easily a top 5 record ever produced. Considered by many to be the quintessential Beatles record, and it is easy to see why. The final album recorded by the Beatles is a culmination of all the recording techniques they had learned in the 7 years prior. Seamless transitions, beautifully layered guitar work, and perfect double tracks. There simply is not enough to say about this record. Start to finish, one of the greatest experiences ever. I personally consider the B-side to be perfect with "The Long One" Medley. George Harrisons guitar work is incredible while also showing off his song writing with two of his best songs. Lennon and McCartney continue show off their song writing capabilities while simultaneously pushing the boundaries of what an album can be. I could go on and on about this record forever, its just that good. Favorite Track: Come Together, I Want You (She's So Heavy), "The Long One" Medley Least Favorite Track: None

On day 136 of this generator, I rolled my first Beatles album, and their first masterpiece, A Hard Day's Night. I complained over how long it took me to get this first one, as if the generator gods were teasing my inner fandom. And here we are, on day 488, with the 7th and final Beatles album, fittingly Abbey Road. Now, what are the odds all 7 Beatles albums were given to me before the halfway point? (1/2)^7 < 1%, so pretty damn rare. In fact, it's been almost exactly a year since my first Beatles album. The generator gods playing with me again. But I'm ready for this review. Abbey Road has been my favorite album since I was 10. It's my most revisited and beloved album. I always felt a bit embarrassed I had to give such a mainstream answer to "What's your favorite album?" instead of something a bit "cooler", but Abbey Road is as personal to me as can be, and I'm actually proud we live in a world where this is as influential and acclaimed as it is, if for no reason other than that other people see what I see in this album. And after my recent trip to Liverpool a couple weeks ago, and nearly 500 reviews, I can try my best to share what I love about this album, even if I won't be talking in too technical terms. Come Together: We start with a banger, in a lot of ways reminds me of T Rex, cool and subtle, with roots to classic rock n roll, evoking images of James Dean. Catchy with a banging chorus, some trippy elements that add a unique spin, and a climatic ending to excite you into the rest of the album. Something: A dreamy romantic track, a landmark Harrison track. You can feel the yearnful emotions of a confused lovestruck fool. Not too many songs have been able to capture this. Strings are a beautiful touch. Maxwell's Silver Hamner: Next we have a completely opposite type of song. A very wacky story that apparently tore the band with Paul's obsession to get it right. As you can guess by its sound and subject, it was initially intended for the white album but was too complex. Lyrics are humorous, one of the first Beatles lyrics that stuck to me as a kid for its whimsical nature and use of imagery. Excellent production, and I love the use of the Moog. Oh Darling: One of my least favorites, but I still love and sing along to it. A doo-wop track, I'm especially a fan of the harmonious back vocals, Paul's vocal shenanigans, and the cool subtle guitar. Octopus Garden: Honestly my favorite Ringo song. It's pretty simple except for that cool aquatic reverb guitar solo with the bubble effects. Has a bit of a country influence and is fun to sing along to. Awesome guitar bits by Harrison feel fluid and wavey. I once stared at a plastic fake fish tank on acid to this and became a jellyfish swimming into the abyss. I Want You: Once again, the Beatles invent a genre that could only be applied for this one song. Kinda like bIuesy jam rock with elements of noise rock, hardcore, and horror. It's long and repetitive yet unpredictable with alternating segments of coolness and pure chaos. Love how the second half is nothing but this intense instrumental tension that goes on seemingly forever before unexpectedly shutting off the side. And for modern listeners, it's a spontaneous and shocking transition to the bright Here Comes the Sun. Definitely a song I look forward to on every listen. Moog works super well in a way only seen in other prog rock songs, whose droning style would be further developed into krautrock, synthpop, and all sorts of other forms of electronica. Here Comes the Sun: For some strange reason their most popular song. I blame the folk-pop movement in the early 2010s that had a somewhat similar anthemic acoustic style, except nowhere near as well executed as here. It's simple yet complete, with the Moog being a nice addition to add extra brightness. A great introduction leading to the medley. Because: My brain considers this to be the start of the medley cause of how it sets the mood for the next several songs. Inspired by classical music, it's both beautiful and unsettling with slow and eery harmonious vocals and strange instruments with slow deep notes. Always a song that grabs my attention. You Never Give Me Your Money: The longest of the medley, consisting of 5 completely different components, setting up themes that would be revisited later. Everyone gets a vocal performance here and they all kill it, exciting me for the rest with the open-ended coda leading into Sun King. Sun King: This one stuck to me as a kid, with its dreamy vocals and nonsensical Spanish lines. Probably my first exposure to the psychedelic mindset, as I remember being a kid and evoking images of a trippy Aztec emperor performing sacred dark rituals to their gods. It's smooth and peaceful but dazed in its sound. Mean Mr Mustard: The second part of the medley begins. I remember seeing an animation of this on Youtube, and I can still remember it scene for scene over a decade later. It's wacky and fun, with the horns, jangly percussion, and British subject matter reminiscent of their Sgt Pepper vaudeville style. Polythene Pam: A short fun punk-like track. Love the lofi style that feels intentionally rushed, like we need to hurry to the next track. She Came In Through the Bathroom Window: We still talking about Mr Mustard's sister? The vocal harmonies and jangles from the previous track take over here, with an overall groovy sound and confused feeling. Golden Slumbers: We transition to the final third of the medley. A beautiful and dramatic song starting to revisit themes from the first track. Carry that Weight: An extension of the previous track but harder and more dramatic, like an orchestral arrangement with a choir support by all Beatles. The End: The dramatic closer to the greatest band of all time. Starts off with a proud interjection followed by my favorite drum solo by anyone. Then a memorable guitar riff that's been sampled many times. A very dramatic repeated line of "LOVE YOU" set to an awesome guitar solo by all 3 guitarists that showcases everything they're capable of. In the last few seconds, Paul ends us off with a highly impactful and memorable quote and a satisfying instrumental conclusion. Enjoy the silence to take in what you heard.

Still holds up, absolutely stellar album overall. Such a great mix of Beatles songs, and feels somewhat nostalgic especially when listening to Octopus's Garden - my first official introduction to the Beatles, by my father. Maxwell's Silver Hammer still has the double-effect of making me creeped by the lyrics, but still enjoy the fun melody.

A lot of variation in genre and composition, spread over long and short songs, which are actually pretty good and unique. Reminds me of other bands like The Who, Queen, Santana and Cream. Definetly understandable how this got famous, especially since it's from 1969. Favourite track: Here Comes The Sun.

Finally, a Beatles album I can get behind. Very few of the dated, cloying songs that I hate so much.
One and One and One Make Three
This was probably the first Beatles album that I really listened to properly. These songs are imprinted on me at a pretty deep level. There's so much amazing stuff on here - the arrival of George as a tour-de-force, the Long Medley, the final harmonies and guitar solos on The End, Ringo's voice overpowering the chorus on Carry That Weight, I Want You - just wow.
I think it was really enjoyable but I thought some of the songs on the end of the album were unnecessary

Not much I can say about this album that hasn't already been said. I'll just say that this is a fitting finale for the greatest band that ever was. 5 stars.
This is clearly the sound of a band running on empty creatively. There is very little on here that reaches the previous heights of The Beatles. A hotchpotch of Lennon’s vague rock mysticism and McCartney’s middle class Chas ’n’ Dave workouts, the standout in terms of craft and effort is Something. Not a favourite of mine, but it works all the way through as a proper song and sounds like it has had time spent on putting it together. The rest sound like ideas at the early stage which escaped too early. “I know, let's write a song about someone called Maxwell who goes around hitting people on the head with a silver hammer’. Eleanor Rigby it is not. The medley on the second side is a bit ‘Stars on 45’, Macca’s football chants spliced with Lennon’s unfinished riffs to create the sound of dysfunction right there in the grooves. Overall, the album left me feeling a bit sad that they didn’t have the energy or the will to polish this stuff up to the standard of earlier work. Beatles by numbers.
I didn't listen to this, but I gave it 5 stars all the same. It should be 6. It's probably my favourite album of all time. Quite a dull, unadventurous choice. But's it's their finest piece of work from what is an impressive and exhaustive choice. I listen to it rarely these days. I don't like to overkill it. But when I do listen, I really DO listen. It doesn't deserve being on in the background whilst I work away at home. The run of songs for the final suite can't be bettered. Perfection. Their finest work.
One of those rare albums that when I try to write or say anything about it, I feel a little silly. It's Abbey Road. It's a truly rare and remarkable work of art.
I understand when John said there are too many of Paul's Granny songs on here. It's still a brilliant album. Very hard for me to justify not giving it 5*

My wife often says to me "Nigel, you're a 46 year old man who's fantastic at giving me orgasms. Do you really have to scream 'Come together' every time we're reaching climax?". The truth is, I don't know that I'm doing it. I've filmed us fucking eachother many times and she's right, about 14 minutes in, at the top of my lungs, I bellow "come together" over and over until she's finished. It takes me another 10 minutes of wanking over her tits before I can cum though. One day we'll do it.

The greatest band of all time bids farewell with a stunning, self-assured masterpiece. Sometimes tender, sometimes bombastic, a thrill right to the end.
Most albums can be reviewed in a big picture, but I could talk about every song on Abbey Road up until the medley in length as if they were each albums. It’s incredible this was The Beatles’ last effort. In their run, each one of the members strove to improve their craft on ever single album. Of course John and Paul grew, but George really comes into his own voice here. Even Ringo’s effort is more well spoken. This is their magnum opus. They put thought in each song and the flow of their entire album. This isn’t my personal favorite Beatles album, but as this is their effort to the world.
Overall I think the Beatles are overrated. However, this album is pretty solid. I like their more experimental songs. Also Here Comes the Sun is one of my favorites. I can definitely see how this album secured the legacy of the Beatles and remains one of the best selling albums. I may not listen to every song again, but I will definitely keep a few in my rotation.
In a world where saying you don't love the Beatles is borderline heresy, this album was just ok. I enjoyed the tracks written by George Harrison the most Something and Here Comes the Sun. The hits on this album are fantastic but few and far between. The fact this was their last album before breaking up definitely shows through the songs. It is one of those albums that's reputation preceeds itself so you are hard pressed to like it but overall I only liked 4 out of the 17 songs on this album.
I don't think there's anything I need to say about this one.

I'm not the biggest fan of the first half of this album. It ranks low for me, Beatles-ly speaking. But then the second half makes up for it. By the time you get to The End you cannot help but give it the full five, right?
If you like the Beatles (which I do), one of the great ones. I do think it’s marred by a lack of cohesion and composition caused by its “your side, my side” assembly. And much as I’m loathe to agree with Lennon’s pretentious attitude of the time, the lyrics of Maxwell’s Silver Hammer are kind of dumb.
Incoherent like the White Album is. But White Album is utterly brilliant and this one has some.songs that I find of less quality. Overall a 3 out of 5

Probably my favorite Beatles album, but I still think they're better by themselves. PM's "Ram" and GH "All Things Must Pass" are masterpieces. Still don't life the british goofy songs they put out, they don't age well. Notable tracks for me are "I Want You" and the "Golden Slumbers". I also like how the latter half of the album is more of an experience rather than individual tracks.
Notes:Partway through so far, does "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" normally just end abruptly or did my version do a prank on me? The second half of the album is waaay better than the first half, imo. Review: I understand now why people call this album a classic, although I feel like the first half is a little bit of a slog. I don't think any of the songs are bad, mind, but I think the ubiquity of some of the earlier songs like "Octopus's Garden" and "Come Together" make it harder to give those a fair shake and not be reminded how often I've heard them before. "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" is a standout song on the first half, and pretty much from "You Never Give Me Your Money" onward the album is pretty engaging.

An album I grew up listening to. It’s honestly not my favorite. It’s hard to rank the Beatles but I find myself listening to white album more than anything else of theirs. It’s a great album sonically but maybe just not to my personal sensibilities

Jednostavno ne možeš reć da je ovo imalo loš album. Kolikogod sam si pokušavo kao, ma de, neće mi valjda taj bit među najjačim njihovim albumima, bla, bla, bla...danas, odnosno jučer sam preslušao 2 puta na poslu i jednostavno je odličan. Na ovom albumu imaju jedne od najboljih stvari, a i ujedno je ovo zadnji album na kojem su uživali radeći zajedno dok sve nije ošlo ća. Odličan album, jako važan za glazbu, ovaj album + Revolver i The White Album su mi najdraži njihovi. Sve u svemu petica pada, iako bi možda dao 4.5, ali to je sad ono priča za neki drugi puta. P.S. Ivane, Ringo Starr će nadživit Paula - Jameson će biti moj.

Legendary album, the production will always be of particular note for this album. Every Beatles albums has like 5 songs everyone knows. For a discussion of great albums, it’s hard to assess and say objectively this is an amazing album with today’s ears when you remove the brand name. But still a great album.
Not a bad album and I don't want to hate on the Beatles but especially taking into consideration the status the band and this album has, it is slightly disappointing. It's an album with good songs, thats for sure but especially 50 years later, the album just hasn't aged that well. Certainly not on par with some of the other albums that have shared the #1 spot here in the past

Never listened to this one in its entirety before and I must say I'm pretty surprised. It's a lot heavier and more complex than I expected and actually more reminiscent of late Queen albums than of the well-known Beatles pop-rock hits. I also had some difficulty in rating this one. At first I was a bit confused because it didn't fit my expectations of what it would be like. At the same time I found the album composition pretty weird. The individual tracks seemed like they don't fit together and some of the contrasts seemed to jarring. Still, I thought the individual tracks were mostly pretty awesome. Right after it finished I gave it a second spin and it seemed a lot more organic when I knew what to expect. It's a great album. Maybe more of a 4.5 than a 5, but great nonetheless.

Okay, I guess.
I mean, it's Abbey Road. It's one of those albums that other albums are measured against. It's a no-contest 5 stars. It's full of massive, genre-defining hits but it's the back half of the album that really seals the deal for me. The way they blend together a huge stack of short, but distinct songs into one long, experience is masterful. You just have to hold on and go for the ride all the way to the track titled "The End". "Abbey Road" is an incredible ride from beginning to end without a single misstep. Masterwork.
I mean, come on.
I remember first listening to this with my stepdad on a road trip when I was maybe 13 or 14 years old. It was one of the first albums whose construction made me pay attention to the album format itself, rather than just thinking of them as a collection of songs. It is also the album that made me really and truly understand the immense talent of The Beatles and why everyone made such a big fuss over them. I mean I had grown up with The Beatles and enjoyed them and everything, but had mostly listened to compilations of their earlier material, rather than proper albums. Abbey Road had a range, depth, and controlled experimentation that I hadn't quite experienced before. It's a journey to say the least. Almost like they knew this was the last hurrah so they had to get everything out they could. And thank God they got George Martin back on board to help them focus! You can bag on Paul McCartney all you want, but that song suite is a fuckin' marvel. Granted, this is also the album with "Maxwell's Silver Hammer," which is probably my least favorite Beatles track, and for which Paul is also responsible, but even despite that blemish, the rest of the album is so brilliant it more than makes up for it. There are great songs from each member that are suited to each of their strengths and personalities. It's particularly great to hear George finally begin to shine and produce some his finest work. On CD or streaming, the quick Side A to Side B flip from "I Want You" cutting to "Here Comes The Sun," has to be one of the most intense and beautiful moments in recorded music.
It's so hard to rate the Beatles because everyone has heard these songs a billion times. Objectively a 5* though. It's been a long time since I listened to this album, it may be my favorite album as whole with the White Album following closely behind.
Octopus’s garden
Never got the hype around this one to be honest. It's still good, but I'd take Revolver or Sgt Pepper over it any day of the week. My favorite songs on this album are "Come Together", "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" and "Here Comes The Sun". I don't care for any of the songs after "Because" - the medley doesn't work for me and never has, don't know why. I really hope I don't come off as a contrarian, because I see that this is one of the highest rated albums on the site. The problem is clearly on my receiving end, I fully get that. Although Rango "Sir Richard Starkley MBE" Starr really carries the Beatles to greatness as always with his beautiful song "Octopus's Garden", which is a metaphor for pubic hair or some shit. Great Album!
Is Abbey Road the best Beatles album? Not in my book. It's got some great great songs and starts off with a fantastic one two punch of Come Together and Something. But there a couple of songs that some wou,d call whimsical and charming I would describe as unnecesary filler. (though their sense of melody is strong even in those throwaway tunes. So it's not their best but it's still an easy 5 star album.
Lots of bangers, but generally not their best
Yay Beatles!!!… The album opens with come together and what makes this a good opener is all down to that iconic guitar riff ( well it is in my opinion anyway) this song lyrics are rather nonsensical but they’re just there to carry the song really than to be it’s focus. It’s great though! Something is probably one of the most loved songs from this album and I have to agree it’s George Harrison’s magnum opus everything from that iconic guitar riff to the amazing lyrics and thundering chorus another banger! Now, was it worth getting the anvil for maxwells silver hammer? I’am not too sure but it’s still a fine song it’s one of those happy sounding songs that are really dark, the chorus is probably my favourite bit very catchy and the piano work after makes it so epic. Oh darling, is a great slower songs but still with a rampaging chorus probably not one of my favourite Paul songs but that’s just because he’s done so many bangers. Piano work is excellent here. Octopus’s garden is very Ringo it’s not a top tier song but still good all the instrumentation is perfect, the chorus is one of the most infectious ever. But it just sounds like a kids song. I want you ( she’s so heavy) is the very opposite to octopus’s garden a very John Lennon song a spiralling 7 minute epic with one of the best guitar riffs ever by the end it gets all fuzzy only to have one of the moon abrupt ending’s in music history. I still like it though. [yeah that was side one probably one of the best displays of each Beatles individual talents] Here comes the sun the most popular song that wasn’t a single, yeah this is a classic, great guitars good lyrics one of the most memorable songs of all time; great song! Then is because essentially a drugged up cult like chant with one of my favourite opening lines of all time in “ because the world is round it turns me on”. It’s solid though but only because of that vocal layering if not the attraction would probably be gone. [ now for the medley] You never give me your money: It has great piano work, good lyrics and while this is the only one that isn’t a fragment of this song this one has never been a favourite of mine. The flow between this and sun king is just a bit odd as well with some bug noises bridging the gap. I think it would’ve been better as it’s own song than park of this. Sun king: it’s essentially a reprise of because with different lyrics not bad but the album’s worst. Mean mr mustard: a short kinda comical little track It’s not a favourite but the flow into polythene pam is good. Polythene pam: my opinion on this one is practically the same as mean mr mustard but it flows well into she came in through the bathroom window. She came in through the bathroom window: best intro of the whole medley it’s sort of the end of the “first half” of the medley as there’s no flow into golden slumber’s. It’s a very good song though. Golden slumbers : probably my favourite song off the medley great lyrics great chorus which is kinda like a trick thing as it flows the same way it does into carry that weight! Carry that weight: another favourite of the medley the most uplifting track top song again! The end: I like this one and it’s a great closer to the album and to the Beatles catalogue and the lyrics are great but out of the this and the previous two theres no competition. [ bonus track] Her majesty: ( ha ha i’am doing this on the day before the jubilee) it’s okay… {Also on a Beatles note unrelated to the album my Spotify rolled over to I saw her standing there the first song on their debut so that’s cool.} Probably the funniest review I’ve ever done! Anyway it’s a true classic and still only my 3rd favourite Beatles album!
Genre: Pop Rock 5/5 There isn't much that can be said about Abbey Road that hasn't already been said, whether it's a personal experience or a broad-stroked comment. One of the most ubiquitous rock albums of all time, and an album rife with some of the best written material the boys had ever come up with, Abbey Road is one of pop music's brightest musical statements. From top to bottom, The Beatles give us every trick up their sleeves, and then some. George Harrison gives us his two best songs up to this point, Something and Here Comes the Sun, Paul's music hall touches on Maxwell's Silver Hammer and his blues rock jam Oh, Darling! showcase his dynamic and intriguing range, and John gives us two of the decade's best hard rock songs in the psych blues vibes on Come Together and the proto-metal rocker I Want You (She's So Heavy). Even Ringo's best is on here, as Octopus's Garden remains a cult classic to this day. The real star here though, after the psych/art pop gem Because, is the B-side medley that finishes off the album. An 8-song prog-pop suite (9, if you include Her Majesty), touching everything from art rock to psych pop to baroque pop and back again, it's one of the best things the Beatles ever did, and unfortunately doesn't receive the modern props that it deserves. Abbey Road is the perfect pop album, with equal notes of beauty and heaviness, and ample time given to challenging the form in either direction. Immaculately produced and arranged, this is an album that will stand the test of time, and will continue to impress the generations that follow. Or, at least the generations who'll give the time to listen.

Oh end era Beatles, the great Abbey Road, a tribute to all their creativity I think, wonderful notes to end on. My Favourites are "Come Together" "Something" "Her Majesty" "Maxwells Silver Hammer" "Oh Darling" "Octopus's Garden" "I Want you (She's So Heavy)" "Here Comes The Sun" "Because" "You Never Give Me Your Money" "Sun King" "Mean Mr Mustard" "Polythene Pam" "She Came In Through The Kitchen Window" "Golden Slumbers" "Carry The Weight" and "the End" so that is the whole album then. Believe or not this is not my favourite Beatles Album (Which is the White Album) but it is in the top two! wonderful stuff that shows how influential these four liverpool lads are to music today sixty years after they started their journey to the "Toppermost of the Poppermost" great stuff and in my top 10 albums of all time.
I don’t even know where to start with Abbey Road. I can criticise aspects of this album, but the Beatles are still the Beatles. Things they did on albums, especially from their studio-based period, which were accidents have become so influential they seem like deliberate strategies, and people have built whole careers based on them. Some of the marked features of this album have become integral parts of the rock lexicon; the hidden track, the medley, the tom-heavy drumming, the use of effects like the leslie speaker, etc that emerged out of (arbitrary) opportunity of necessity. Most noted is the side 2 medley; born of necessity to utilise partially written song fragments, it became permission for extended side-long suites with disparate fragments (hello prog rock). The fact that it worked on Abbey Road excused the confusion of wilful collage with ‘clever’ song writing (and McCartney is one of the worst offenders at this, qv. ‘Band on the Run’. A ghastly incoherent mess). On this album, it helped present material that benefited from the succinct presentation. I mean, would ‘I Want You (She’s So Heavy)’ been better if edited down to a similar length as Polythene Pam? Maxwell’s Silver Hammer is, frankly, atrocious and feels like a track that might have made it’s way onto the White album, but does not belong here. And I agree with John and George that it was not worth the effort to record and include. But other than that, the songs are outstanding. (I was recently doping a deep dive on Let It Be, and the song writing here is SOOOO much better. Come Together, Something, Here Comes the Sun, and the side 2 medley are far and away highlights of the Beatles catalogue. (Here Comes the Sun is the most streamed Beatles song Spotify. It has always been a favourite of mine). Despite the clear tensions in the band around this time, they seem, to have put aside the worst of their bickering to lean into what a tight band they were. Augmented by Billy Preston and really great orchestral arrangement and production from George Martin, this last recorded output from t eh Beatles is confident and leaning into the future. The crisper sound from 8-track recording and a solid-state desk, tasteful use of synthesizer (white noise in I Want You aside) show that this was not just recycling their clichés, but committed to making a really great sounding record I rate my favourite albums according to those I most frequently play, and this is definitely in my top three (along with Revolver and Hard Day’s Night).
It's one of their best, if you like that sort of thing.
I've heard this many many times already. Maxwell's Silver Hammer and Sun King are maybe lower points, but there are some all-time great songs on here. Here Comes the Sun is probably George's best, and "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" and "The End" are two personal favorites.

An absolutely classic album that has withstood the test of time. Although I wouldn’t consider it The Beatles' best work, it is definitely among some of the greatest albums of all time. The album is extremely enjoyable. While it isn’t as cohesive as other albums due to it having certain songs that disrupt the flow, I still adore this album and consider it amazing. Fantastic work by The Beatles!
I normally glaze over when the Beatles come up, but I have to say the start of Come Together did hook me But I still have that mental block on the Beatles - for me a 3 as I dont hate it but but I ever choose it? I know it's a classic, but its not for me

One sweet dream came true today. If the Beatles released Let It Be earlier in the year, Abbey Road would be the perfect final album for one of the best acts to ever exist. George's Something and Here Comes The Sun are up there with the best of the Beatles discography, John has some neat rockers in Come Together and I Want You, Paul's work in the Melody at the end is an interesting experience they've never done before, and even Ringo has a chance to shine in Octopus's Garden. Even the weaker songs (Maxwell's Silver Hammer for instance) can be enjoyable at the right time. Also features one of the most simple yet often replicated album covers ever.
I already know that I like this album. In fact it's my favorite of the Beatles catalog, which is a predictable choice. I always find myself returning to this eventually as it has the heaviness and catchiness of everything that makes the Beatles the best pop of it's time.

Decent album.
Now that the cranberry juice fever has faded, this album has surpassed Rumours in this site rank, but, surprisingly enough, it has been also surpassed by the fourth album by Led Zeppelin lol… Is this the correct order? Maybe, maybe it’s only that more hard rock fans are doing the list than before, I couldn’t tell. I’ve been listening to this record ever since I was born, I still have my parents vinyl copy (a very poorly treated 80’s by me, my siblings and cousins lightweight press) and I do have my 2009 remaster, I will eventually buy the 2019 repress but it’s not my priority as I did not hear anything very different from the 2009 one, why? Maybe because it was so magnificently produced the first time. My god did Martin had the touch. Is this the best record of all times? I don’t know but it is mostly flawless, I mean, I could try to find a weak link Maxwell’s Silver Hammer but actually would be trying too hard… I use to think this album was overrated and have never understand Why Come Together seems to be their most popular song (not that I don’t think it’s a great song and that base line my god!), but I get how this album it is built in greater heights than Sgt. Pepper or the white one. It’s just a delight to listen from start to end, everything here is built as a farewell but goddamn what an awesome one, you just know they knew this was it, and they knew also that The Beatles needed to go with a bang a huge and great and glorious bang… the tracklisting is full evidence of that. I understand this was not the case back in those days being Let It Be published after, but having I been born 17 years latter it’s not an issue for me, this is the last album by the Beatles and that’s it. I’m reading Lennon said he didn’t like the album in the 70’s, and I’m kinda loving that fact as well lol. Now, since everyone here has said everything there has to be said about side A and its gigantic and timeless stone cold classics (along of course with B-side’s gorgeous and stunning Here Comes The Sun), let’s write something about the medley: damn it is a rollercoaster, damn it says it all without saying much, damn those drums, and those intercalated guitar solos give everyone their last time to shine (much like nowadays great bands do when ending their shows), damn those words “And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make” will be with us to the day we die, damn how inadvertently brilliant closing Her Majesty is… damn what an awesome closing for the greatest music history (The Beatles) there ever was. Damn what an awesome and timeless record this is.

There are some awesome tracks on this album, but I was gonna dock a star for some of the twee nonsense. A couple of listens and the tracks that initially seemed weaker grew on me (unlike Sgt. Pepper) so, sure, five stars it is. Fave track - "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" in no small part because of Type O Negative's cover, although it's still a monster track on it's own...
"Here Comes the Sun" is one of my all-time favorite tracks from the Beatles. "Golden Slumbers / Carry That Weight / The End" is my next favorite track on this album. I have a soft spot for the absurd in the tracks "Octopus's Garden" and "Maxwell's Silver Hammer". This was not the first time I've listened to this album, and probably not the last.
4.2 + It's rare that a top-10 music list doesn't include "Abbey Road" but it's not even my favorite Beatles record. First, "Come Together" is probably the most tired song on classic rock radio. And any cool factor that song may have once had was thoroughly sucked out by Aerosmith with their atrocious cover. Second, people praise this album's cohesion but to me it sounds like a potpourri with few unifying themes or concepts. Going from "Something" to "Maxwell's..." to "Oh! Darling" to "Octopus's Garden" - it feels like they strung together some leftovers from other recording sessions. Third, "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" really drags down the end of side A - it's such a ponderous and pointless slog. Fourth, I dislike "Golden Slumber", both the song and McCartney's grunty vocal performance. Still, there's plenty that I do love on here. "Maxwell's..." is among the best of their cartoonish ditties. "Oh! Darling" is an extravagantly soulful ballad that McCartney actually does manage to nail vocally. "Here Comes the Sun" is an evergreen classic that brightens any graduation or wedding ceremony. The trippy "Because" has some incredible synthesized orchestration and choral harmonies. And the "Medley" is a carousel of colors and images.
Like what do you need to know about it? One of the most iconic rock albums of all time. Every song is great. Don’t sit here and read reviews of it, just go listen to it you lunatic!
I don't know what to say about the Beatles. There's very little of their music that I think, "Oh, I'd like to go listen to that song again..." They were teenagers when they wrote a bunch of their big hits and the content is what you would expect from a teenager (sorry, Taylor). At this point their lives were about being famous, which wasn't something that generated a lot of interesting songs. There are friends who are nuts about the Beatles. They have every bootleg you can find. I'll try to listen to this album tomorrow flying from Little Rock to Ft. Worth.

How do I call this album iconic without sounding like the Gen Z youth who overuse that word to the point that it's completely lost its impact? If that word still packs any wallop at all, then it's rightly used in full meaning here. The album artwork alone, my god. Everyone on the planet knows it. It also sums up perfectly why George is my favourite. These other dudes in suits and he's giving you Canadian tuxedo hippie man cool. He's the best one! The most enchanting and emotional tracks, Here Comes The Sun and Something, which he wrote both make it onto this album. Bless him for getting a word in edgewise for once! Excellent songwriting, as always. Incredible, groundbreaking instrumentation. Flawless delivery. It's what we've all come to expect of them at this point in their career. It is endlessly listenable, never boring, full of nuance and comfort at the same time. It's the perfect chunky cozy sweater that you'll never part with and look forward to cuddling in every autumn.

Brilliant classic album. Everyone knows the cover of this album, I knew quitte some songs. But it’s an different experience when listening it as a whole. Listened to it twice and the second time it was even better. The songs individually are great but get stronger as a whole. No wonder this is such a legendary album. For my 100th album I get my favourite album of all time and I've listened to this album an endless number of times. If a doctor is giving me one hour to live, this is the album I want to be heard playing. To me it's completely flawless and I love every single song. Side 2 is possibly the best 22 minutes of music ever recorded. Here Comes the Sun is my favourite song of all time. There are so many other songs I love from so many artists, but Here Comes the Sun just taps into something so deep and it's to me it's the most perfect song ever written. I could talk endlessly about why I love this album, but it's pointless. It's the highest rank album on this site and always included in the top 10 albums of all time. It's there for a reason. The peak of creativity and mastery by one of the greatest bands of all time.

It's quite amazing how Macca and George Martin managed to marshal the band one last time even though the party was pretty much over and come up with something so sublime. Lennon had outshone McCartney on the White Album but Macca is the star here, not that Lennon and Harrison's contributions were in any way less than great, and even Ringo (with George's help) manages to come up with a jaded yet joyous Fabs nursery rhyme to rival Yellow Submarine. "We transformed the sixties now here's the seventies for you." And there they were, gone.

J’ai toujours trouvé fascinant que le côté B de cet album contient assez de matériel pour faire un album exceptionnel complet. À la place, ils en ont fait des petites tounes de 1m30. Il faut avoir confiance en sa capacité à en écrire d’autres. Ringo a déjà dit que les tounes s’enchainnaient parce qu’ils étaient trop paresseux pour leur trouver une fin. J’aimerais ça être paresseux de même. Bref, c’est mon album préféré de mon band préféré.
Ah les Beatles! Je crois que c'est mon préféré avec Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Cet album est l'aboutissement réussi des explorations des albums précédents. Dans le processus créatif, je trouve vraiment intéressant le fait que la durée de I Want You a été calculé par rapport au média qu'est le vinyle pour aller au bout de la face A et avoir l'effet de coupure par l'aiguille qui revient au début. Un album incontournable.

I'm not a massive Beatles fan but this is one of their better albums in my opinion.
Abbey Road is perfect - I could listen to any song off of this album on a loop and never get bored. ‘The Medley’ is so fantastically well executed. The 1-2-3 punch that is ‘Golden Slumbers’, ‘Carry that Weight’, and ‘The End’ might be one of my favourite endings to an album ever.

This is this fourth Beatles album on this list. If I could change the ratings I previously gave those other albums I would. They (With the Beatles, The White Album, Sgt Peppers) all received a 4 but those probably needed to be adjusted down. Half ratings would have been useful. This album is better than those other albums so 4.5, but I will round down and give it a 4. Nonetheless, this album has 17 songs and clocks in under an hour. This is a benefit. The album starts out strong. Then there are some eccentric songs. Peaks with Here Comes The Sun. Then the remaining songs are alright. They are familiar and I have heard them before. There aren't that many campy songs on this album.

How can a band as lauded as the Beatles also be responsible for releasing on of the worst songs ever recorded. Yes I am talking about Maxwell's Silver Hammer. The rest of the album is all over the place and with the exception of Here Comes The Sun, I don't make it through side 2 as it is a struggle. The purists will hate me for it but comparing Abbey Road to Sgt. Peppers or Revolver, this just isn't a fantastic album
One of my favorite Beatles albums. The suite in the middle is just epic.
For my mind, this is the best of Beatles, especially side two. I could do without Octopus' Garden and Maxwell's Silver Hammer, but the rest of the album is solid. The guitar work on "I Want You" is fascinating. On a side note, this YouTube version is a little frustrating because there is silence between all the tracks on side two. They should be connected together.
It's always nice to listen to this again. Every song is a good song and I feel like I always find something new. This time around, I felt incredibly moved by "Here Comes The Sun." What a simple and profound song. It's hard to believe that John left the Beatles 6 days after they finished recording this. I would love to be in the room where it happened.

wtf is track 3? you can hear him trying to not laugh at one point. were they trying to see how ridiculous of a song they could release knowing people would eat it up? track 4 comes through headphones really weird. just one instrument comes through the right speaker. bugs the crap out of me I may have my track numbers messed up :/ not much goes through the right speaker for a lot of it though octopus garden? wtf actually knew 3 songs from it :o
The Beat Holes aren't so bad after all

A lot of great songs on here: Come Together, I Want You (She's So Heavy), You Never Give Me Your Money, and so on. But the real crown jewel of this album is the medley, which carries on from You Never Give Me Your Money. Each song has a distinctive flavor while also flowing seamlessly, creating a great run of jams all the way to The End (haha, do you see what I did there?). I cannot stress how much I feel the medley elevates the album. I'm not a huge Beatles guy to begin with, but it's really neat to see that sort of thing played out. One of my favorite albums of all time took inspiration from this medley, so hats off to The Beatles!
The first Beatles album I bought was the "Blue" record (1967-1970), this along with it's companion ("Red" 1962-1966) are the perfect entry level compilation records to introduce new Beatles fans to most of their hits. To really give you an idea of the range of the band's music, you must seek out most of their studio albums which are very good to brilliant, as sometimes it's the deeper cuts that deserve some attention. I've owned a copy of Abbey Road since the late-70's and it still gets plays on my turntable. Since I've heard the popular tracks so much (Come Together, Something, Here Comes The Sun), I have been known to skip those tracks for the rest of the record. It's these "secondary" tracks that give Abbey Road so much depth in quality. In fact, this has probably the best side 2 of any record I've heard highlighted by the medley that concludes the album. So good! Undoubtedly, this is the Beatles masterpiece!

Hey, these guys are onto something here! In all sincerity, I was actually a little surprised at how poorly some of this has aged. The highs are incredible, but there's some right old tripe on this too. Still rather good for all that.

Utterly baffled by the overall score on this one (although I almost certainly knew it would be the case listening to it). "The Beatles" but without any hits is as big a snoozefest as you can imagine.
Nothing needs to be said about this - takes me back to listening to my parents' copy when I was 10. I love this album

My favorite Beatles album. Something turned out to be one of their best songs and John / Paul didn't write it. But the perfection in this album is the side 2 medley. They pulled unfinished songs together to fill an album when they were clearly not getting along and had no interest in working together anymore, that is where the talent shines.
I prefer to side one of the album and the opening two tracks of side two (Here comes the sun and Because). Not that fussed about the song suite thereafter, it's just a bit fluff with no substance. This is the best recorded Beatles album, the production is really crisp. It gets slated, but I actually really like Maxwell's Silver Hammer! Other highlights are Come Together and Something. As s you would expect from The Beatles, it's a really good album.

Absolute class. Bang bang Maxwell's silver hammer is an odd song about a serial killer. We used to sing this in primary school! Great songs from start to finish.

So good. The Beatles are used as an example of how 10,000 hours of practice can give you mastery of a form. I think I listened to The Beatles, mostly this album for 10,000 hours in our basement when I was a child, so I've mastered listening to them, and I've really got it down to an artform. A lot of the album is quite childish, but so am I, and so was I when I listened to it most. I love the range of songs, the lyrics, and that you can have a song along to most of these.
For reasons unknown, Maxwell's Silver Hammer regularly plays in my nightmares. 🤷 Aside from that, it's an excellent album.
Though they were falling apart they still managed to produce one of the greatest albums ever. Everything has been written about it and just to reiterate - the end medley is worth the price of admission alone. If you don't like this album you've got no soul. Absolutely amazing album. Hit songs everyone knows, but even the minute long songs near the end and the lesser know ones filling the rest of the album were great. Maybe a little bias towards the group, but overall fantastic!

There are some transcendent moments, the exemplar being the lead-in to Here Comes the Sun. There's brilliant production, which is the part of the Beatles I appreciate most at the moment. (It's emphasized by the remaster, as well.) I respect the move toward guitar-focused pop. Abbey Road is a touch too slick, with less sticky weird parts than Revolver or Sgt. Pepper's. I don't love the near-vignettes on side B, but there the slickness is a strength.
Probably the Beatles most well known album but not necessarily their best. Still great in its own regard. It has 17 songs and still short of an hour. It’s a refined, simply curated album. The Beatles mellowed out with this one compared to yellow sub and magical. The songs flow exceptionally well throughout and makes the album an easy listen and yet there’s still depth to the songs. 8.8/10

Not much to really say other than this album is a certified masterpiece. The Beatle's discography is so stacked, yet this album just might be my favorite of theirs. So many absolute bangers, and the transitions between songs are pure bliss. Surely an all time great album. Favorite Tracks: Something, Oh! Just what I needed to wash the taste of that shitty Lenny Kravitz album out of my mouth This album captures a massive range of moods, but somehow makes them all fit. More importantly, just just keeps getting better as it goes. And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make. The Beatles always had an incredible way to state the profound with the simplest words 5/5
This album is testament to the genius of Sir George Martin. You know how when folks in the UK want to honor someone the knight them and call them "sir"? In the USA we should honor them by adding the middle name F-ing. This guy right here would be Sir George F-ing Martin.

Everything from "once there was a way..." to "the love you take is equal to the love you make" is perfect (that's side 2 in old money). It's my favourite piece of The Beatles music and I'm apparently not alone - that was George Martin's favourite, too. Wonderful. Glorious. Desert island music for me.

A masterpiece. Probably my favourite Beatles album! It opens with two of the greatest Beatles songs ever. (Come Together / Something). Here Comes The Sun / I Want You are tucked in the middle keeping the album consistent all the way through. For me though - the highlight is the finale which is essentially a gigantic eight song medley. I’m a huge sucker for this type of storytelling device whether spread out on an album or contained in one song. (The Wall, NOFX’s The Decline) I love a good mid-song switch up and this album has some of the best (blame it on my A.D.D.) The trio of songs at the end are some of the best transitions in rock and roll. And the call back to the first song in the medley is freaking awesome! Fave Tracks: “Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End” “Something” “Oh Darling”
Welp, first album I receive from this very interesting website, and I get as my first album to listen to is one I have listend to numerous times and agree whole heartedly that this is one of the Greatest Albums of All Time, just Abbey Road, the last Beatles album recorded. My short thoughts about the songs on the album: Come Together: If this is supposed to be a drug song, it really feels like a trip that hits you, getting ready to take you on a journey to a world where nothing and everything makes sense at the same time, with that fuckin killer guitar by George i think? Something: This song really grew on me, because I didn't really get myself into the talent that is George Harrison, and this song just struck me as basic lovey dovey song when i first discovered it in Freshman year of high school. Listening to it several times later and thinking of the women that used to make me feel, this song captured the emotions perfectly, and it's also just a vibe Maxwell's Silver Hammer: REALLY? They hated this song?? I can understand the fucking pain in Paul's Percise Direction on the song taking a toll on everybody, this still shows that the art you imagine in your head doesn't have to be perfectly how you imagined it to still be fucking awesome! It may be the inner edge-lord in me that considers this on the top 5 best off this album, but it's like Tarantino's who analogy with Joker (2019), it seduces you into enjoying the villain's presence. Oh! Darling: I always remember the title of this song but never the actual song, but it's instrumentals are really something. It's a more manic Something now that i think about it... so John made this! His vocals are on point and the classic harmonization by the end... wait is this Paul or John... Im stupid. Octopus's Garden: Top 5 off the album, more like on MY TOP 5 FAVORITE BEATLES SONG OF ALL TIME. This song deserves more love, RINGO deserves more love, and I'm glad they are getting more each year. this is just a song that makes me so fucking happy. I Want You (She So Heavy): Another top 5 entry on both lists omg, 2 in a row! This song gives me the weird feeling of thinking of a girl and other things when you're supposed to pay attention to Sunday Mass. This is probably Paul's absolute best fucking Bass work in his career Here Comes The Sun: c'mon, no words are needed. It's like waking up at the top floor of your apartment as the sun is rising above your home and shining the world. All your worries are blinded by the pure bliss radiating from this moment in your life, happening right now... also from the gamma rays Because: I should've listened to this song more, this is an incredible song. Y'know those ascended memes, this makes me feel like that, so outer worldly filled with bibilical like power. You never gave me your money: what a different tone from the last song but it kinda matches with the notes, but this feels like snapping back to reality from the last song and making something happen. Sun King: Sun King yes, which sounds like full moon, midnight by the campfire. THIS GUITAR THO. Mean Mr. Mustard: now it's the next day and now we're people watching. Kinda feels like this album is about living in the moment in life :) (also this song sounds as groovy as Paul's future work) Polythene Pam: Good transition, You think Mr Mustard is somethin, well you should see... this woman She Came in through the Bathroom window: You fell in love with a Girl but the drugs start kicking in again ~my hands are getting tired so i'm just going to write down the image these song's give me Golden Slumbers: this is like Part 2 to Sun King, now another night, reflecting what we learned and need to learn. Basically a reflection of the past. Carry the Weight: Know that reflecting on the Past will only darken your life even more and letting go and feeling free is the world's greatest luxury The End: One of the best endings to anything, it's like the final song at the end of a series you spent a long time with Her Majesty: End Credits scene, Love confession overall, good album, I wish i could type more aboutt his album but my hands hurt, I ALREADY KNOW ABOUT THIS, BEST ALBUM Her Majesty:
Well, having never owned a Beatles album, surprised myself by giving this 5/5 - but it's got Come Together (could be 1 year old never mind 50), Golden Slumbers and loads of great tracks i'm not familiar with like Maxwell's Golden Hammer. Plus I live near Abbey Road so
Is there a more iconic album? I prefer Hard Days Night & Rubber Soul, but this is solidly in the top 10 ever? Maybe top 5? Every damn song on it is recognizable.
