Reviews (page 13 of 13)

Zzzzzz not for me.

70’s

So long, so boring don't bother

The recording was harsh and the highs didn’t seem to be rendered faithfully. Additionally the live ambiance of coughing and such was distracting.

Not interesting

This album is to classical music as smooth jazz is to jazz. That is, an insipid shadow of what it’s trying to emulate. That’s my ungenerous take. But I’ve avoided my album of the day listening for three weeks now - I have a lot to catch up on - in part because I couldn’t stand the thought of listening to this through to the end. Today’s the day I’m biting the bullet.

grueling

Best selling piano album of all time. Couldn't get through the first song

I was never a fan of Jazz, and after an hour of this album that has not changed

4 songs. Part I. Part IIA. Part IIB. Part IIC. Frankly, I don't see. 66 minutes of piano music. Some of the riffs are decent. But it's a live album.

Not really a big fan of piano music. This is insanely impressive just not for me :(

Sorry, but this is just too boring for me, never mind I realise this is all technically excellent playing.

this dude is jerking off on the piano

No. Every roommate I've had that thought they were better than everyone else had this on vinyl. It's terrible.

This was terribly boring and uncreative. No, thank you.

Not for me - lost interest. 1/5

All piano. Definitely not my cup of tea

Sounds like I'm on hold for the phone company

Live piano album

I would give this album 2 stars, but live albums should NOT be on this list. Too bad.

1. 4.9 2. 4.8 3. 4.9 4. 4.9

Not a fan

i don’t love only piano… but it was pretty and maybe if i was making cuisine with fiends i’d listen to it uhhh prolly not

This is not for me, but it is not bad. Incredible pianist.

Elevator music

Not my taste in music. While I think his piano playing is excellent, just not something I'm into listening to.

I usually appreciate concert music, just today was not in the mood for it :/

How fucken boring. A whole hour of piano improv. I can't see myself enjoying this anytime soon

Boring

could i write poetry to this? n

This is the best-selling solo jazz album ever?!? Over an hour of aimless noodling in the middle registers of the piano. It literally goes nowhere. Wake me up when it's over.

Boriiiing. Je ne suis pas fan du jazz ni du 100% piano. Le mix des 2 ne fait pas de miracle.

You kidding me

sure was a piano in there huh. made for fine background music while at work, but this neither stirred anything in my nor stands out in my mind. will probably never listen again. 1.5

More tough going. I just couldn't ever into this. Endless piano noodlings that were not particularly interesting. Sorry, not my bag.

I don't dig solo piano that much.

Part I- 1/5 Part II a- 1.2/5 Part II b- 0.9/5 Part II c- 1.3/5 Total- 1.1/5

Piano shit, not my thing

An hour-long solo record feels so self-indulgent that it was hard to enjoy. It gets one star for teaching me that the interplay between musicians is something I need in my music. (Headphones users beware, Jarrett's foot stomps add nothing but annoying low frequency thumps when his piano mic picks up the vibrations)

If I’m going to listen to a piano album, I’d prefer Yanni over an album like this with 17 minute songs where the pianist is moaning and “woooing” in the background. Didn’t finish after the first song.

Maybe I just don't have the ear for it, but it seems completely unremarkable. The random moans from listeners on the live recording were also very jarring.

Improvised solo jazz piano. Lord have patience, I couldn't finish this one.

Boring, prefer classical piano piece.

I'm ready to give up

Not for me

Not my thing

Not my style

Real boring

Didnt finish the first track

Just really boring and tinny. It doesn't know if it wants to be jazz or classical, but there's not really anything interesting to listen to here. Might be okay at the lowest volume in a coffee shop and by lowest volume, I mean muted.

Apparently no one had ever improvised on piano before 1975

i’m not going to lie this is very much not my thing. good music for background listening i think, but i am simply not cultured enough to appreciate this properly and this is a Me problem. it is impressive, and beautiful, but not something i would pick up to listen to again

I couldn't make it past the second song, this has gotta be some sort of torture 😭

Didn’t listen, was half hour classical music pieces and not the exact vibe for the day

Despite enjoying piano, this did absolutely nothing for me. Found it too smooth and dull to be jazz (how on earth is it classed as jazz?) and not structured or atmospheric enough to be neo-classical. Just found it really really dull and disappointing

I'm not one for solo piano music and so apart from isolated sections I didn't find this very engaging. Trying to appreciate it for what it is, I thought it was fairly linear, with few changes in tempo or style. While Keith is clearly a very talented musician I needed more variety to keep my attention for the hour. Wouldn't come back.

I’m sure this is great I just don’t really know why. Maybe it’s a if you get it you get it? I can’t do what he does and I liked all of it, but I just didn’t get why it’s special

The hyperactive son of Gershwin.

Great if you like this music, but purely instrumental wasn’t for me

Very good pianist - too long, too jazzy in places.

nur klavier sonst nix :( teil 1 anstrengend, A & B aber cool

An hour+ long piano improvisation ... why is this an album? I guess for people watching live it could be interesting to observe music being created in real time. Listening to it now, I can appreciate the artist's skill and ideas, but it is just boring.

Het eerste nummer kon me nog bekoren, tijdens het 2e begon ik boosheid te voelen en woede tegen het eind. Afgezet voordat ik mijn laptop uit het raam flikker!

Ah man, just random piano sounds....bored.

Nice background music. Less my thing

Well that was very boring. I get that he's an incredible pianist working in difficult circumstances, but... Improvisation is how you start a piece of music, not the end result. You're supposed to go back and refine it till you have a piece of thrilling music. This is akin to a detective finding a dead body and saying "My work here is done", or an archaeologist finding a pile of dirt and not digging. In short, an utter waste of my time.

That’s a lot of piano. Some might say way too much.

It was like a wanky piano version of a guitar solo. This could have been Richard Clayderman or Klaus Wunerlich.

painfully boring. white noise is better

Background music

No. Just no, for me.

Completely Uninteresting. Not for me.

No entiendo está música

Technically excellent but bereft of any structure which leaves it sounding like a self indulgent ivory wankfest.

Piano snooze, but appreciate he did the concert on my birthday

i do not like instrumental albums lmao

Wanted to appreciate this more but at the end of the day it wasn’t for me. Even tried to give it a second chance and couldn’t really get past part I. Undeniably impressive skill and talent especially given circumstances, but I couldn’t personally enjoy it.

Not a fan of jazz piano. This could be excellent and it would still remind me of elevators and hallmark movies too much to be enjoyed

the sims pause music

Quite boring.
