One of the greatest albums of the Noughties, genre-bending brilliance
Not one of his best but still a good solid release
A rather underwhelming debut I thought, shows very little sign of the great work to come....
Seminal album way before it’s time however gets marked down due to repetitiveness and annoying quirkiness
Total revelation, never knew of this album’s existence and yet it has influenced so much music that I love!
The best album from one of the best bands of the last 20 years!
One of my all time faves!
One of the best double albums of all time (along with London Calling)?
One of the weakest of the early Fall albums but still some moments to savour
3 stars for the massive influence, but definitely not the enjoyment factor
Uneven but with some standouts.
Classics interspersed with cheese
Sorry folks but I like this one!
I still struggle with this one. If this is the “proper” Beastie Boys, then I am obviously not the fan I thought I was.
Had high hopes for this - a punk / country hybrid, what’s not to like? - but I thought it was utterly dire from start to finish. An ugly ungainly mess.
3 stars due to some great raw material and its massive influence, but not an enjoyable listen!
Not my thing, but an accomplished piece of work
Sorry this does nothing for me. Two stars only because of its supposed groundbreaking influence but this just sounds like generic country music to me
2 stars for the passion and dexterity, but otherwise it sounds horrible
Either a high 3 or a low 4 - can’t decide
5 stars based on the first half but second half lets it down
Not one of their best. A greatest hits band in my opinion.
Based on my methodology which assigns 5 stars to anything that is 8 out of 10 or higher - it’s not perfect but then again what is!
Much as I hate to say it, it’s a good enough album
Not as bad as I had feared!
5 stars for significance and impact 3 stars for enjoyment So 4 stars on balance
