Easy to listen to, some good songs, a bit calm for my tastes.
Had a ton of hits on this album. Lots of songs sound the same and not many hidden gems outside the hits.
Excellent. Crazy busy bass parts. Weird and jazzy but not crazy weird like some of Zappa's other stuff.
Love the album, really think it was ahead of its time. For some reason always thought it was early/mid 90s, not 1988. Convenient timing to listen as it was recorded by Steve Albini, who also recorded In Utero by Nirvana which is celebrating 30 years currently.
Always a sucker for concept albums, interesting story that it is inspired by his sister and brother in law. Musically quite good as well
Sounds fairly generic 60s music. Can hear the influences that would follow David Crosby in music going forward
Change of pace from typical music. Neat guitar grooves, enjoyable and relaxing to listen to.
Willie Nelson singing a bunch of standards. Good if you like that sort of thing but nothing too special.
Forgot just how many good songs were on this album.
Classic album, not much more to say
Some interesting back tracks and rhythms on a few songs. Not too much interesting vocally
Massive hit album for GNR. Most of their best known songs were all off this album. Signature Slash sound on all the tracks. 53 straight minutes of Axl Rose's voice was a little much though.
Great grooves, short and sweet album. Fantastic vocals as would be expected
Enjoyed it more than I was expecting. Really good rhythm tracks, quite musical. Way better than modern day trap beats.
Hard to believe this album is almost 25 years old. I remember getting it as a birthday present when I was 8 and my parents immediately taking it away to hold onto until I was older.
I always want to like the Police, objectively it's good music but hard for me to get into. This album didn't appeal to me as much as some of their others.
Decent cover of Only Love Can Break Your Heart, other than that nothing too notable.
Really good album. Never listened to Traffic much before but was definitely missing out. Lots of the aspects similar to Cream and other major blues inspired rock bands.
Good background music, obviously impressive, but just piano music to me.
Good quality southern blues rock. Some overlap in song sounds, a couple were very Mary Jane's Last Dance-ish. Good content, interesting concept for an album. Did drag on a little bit into the second part.
Long mumbling intros wondering when the song will begin, then still somehow being just as bored listening to the song itself. First album that I skipped through to the middle of songs to just get a general feel of the songs. Couldn't even bother listening to it in its entirety.
Neat album, blending of very different styles. Amazing Baker drum solo at the end.
Enjoyed listening to it. Huge variety from track to track. A few very much had the intangible late 90s sound to it that spans multiple genres, but you can still hear when it was released .
Weird like his stuff with Pink Floyd, but much worse musically
Decent album, lots of samples and great voices. Interesting ride reading how each of the trio were terrible people
Knew nothing of this beyond Tubular Bells being used in the Exorcist. Had no idea it was part of another album or that the album was really quite good.
The more I've listened to AC/DC, the less I like them. Musically it's so simple it doesn't do much for me, never was a fan of the vocals, yet still can't deny the amazing energy all of these tracks put out. It's so boring yet at the same time you can't help but get into it.
Pretty inconsistent album. Some tracks I start to like, then the next one comes on and it's nearly unlistenable. Party Fears Two had some strong Talking Heads vibes and is by far the best song on the album, the number of listens on Spotify certainly backs that up. I'm guessing a large portion of listens of some songs are only thanks to this 1001 albums list.
Kind of a meh album. Liked the sound of a few songs, then a few random noise sort of tracks kind of brought it down. Enjoyed the riff on Sweet Leaf a lot.
One of my favorites. Hot take is that Kashmir is boring and overrated
About what is expected from any Simon and Garfunkel. Nice to listen to but not my style
Listenable, some decent backing tracks, nothing special though
Never heard of the band or album before. Enjoyed the sound of the album a lot, a lot of the darker sounds of the early 90s, but not really metal and not really grunge either.
Another new one to me. Very good listen, cool arrangements and vocal pairing with the guy from Arctic Monkeys.
Good iconic Queen album. Always want to like Queen more than I should but it's often hit or miss with the misses being a little bit too, corny maybe? Bohemian Rhapsody bumps up the rating of the album.
Enjoyable background music that I'm glad I've listened to. Not sure how there are two albums of his on the list though. Might start turning all of these reviews into complaining about how there's no Zevon on the list.
Excellent album. Multiple hits, great guitar tones, awesome song writing
Not my style, but enjoyed the overall sound of the album. Not a fan of talking insert pieces as they disrupt the flow of the album, but obviously important topics that still ring true 30 years later.
One of those albums I will always remember listening to for the first time. Listened to it two days after it was released, when it was announced he had passed. The opening line of Lazarus truly accurate at that point.
Weird, groovy. Some Zappa or Captain Beefheart vibes to it. I like it.
It's fine I guess. Not sure why it's on here though. Should have been Warren Zevon on the list instead.
Good album musically. Obvious Bowie influence which drowned out the Iggy Pop sound that I prefer if I'm listening to Iggy. Bowie good, Iggy good, but together it's in a middle ground that isn't as good as either of their individual work.
Fantastic album. Heavy grunge sound, amazing harmonies, goofy 7/8 time signatures, tons of great songs on the album.
Was a bit nervous when I saw electronic, was prepared for an hour of sandstorm but was pleasantly surprised. Nice work background music with some good groove to it.
Didn't realize that all of these songs were on the same album. Love every single one of them.
Not the worst thing that I've heard, but still not a fan. Though it did grow on me a bit throughout the record, still a 2.
Spotify put an ad between Heartbreaker and Living Loving Maid. Splitting a double track is just wrong.
Enjoyed the listen, such a unique sounding band. Mountain Song and Jane Says almost brought it up to a 4, but overall the album was just ok.
Good vibes, fun to listen to for a change of pace.
Enjoy listening to Dire Straits from time to time, but this album was honestly a bit repetitive. Many of the songs could be mistaken for Sultans of Swing in various parts.
Not as terrible as I was anticipating based on knowing Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova. Still didn't enjoy it though.
Fine background music. Not unlistenable but not really enjoyable
Decent folksy album. I don't think I had ever heard the original Everybody's Talkin before.
Decent background music, not a fan of the skits
Pretty meh. Couple of good songs, only vaguely remember Scooby Snacks so didn't add much nostalgia. Plenty of better rap rock out there. Should have included Zevon in the list instead of this
Was intrigued by neo-psychedelic, pretty disappointed by the fairly generic 80s Brit pop rock sound. Should have Zevon on the list instead of this.
Good album from an artist I've never heard of before. Might be the first one on the list that's totally new to me that makes me want to listen to more.
Started strong, got a little generic and weird towards the end.
Interesting concept for an album and cool for the novelty but fairly boring musically.
Have never listened to Genesis beyond their few hits that get radio play. I'm a sucker for prog rock so I really enjoyed it.
Alternated between annoying and boring. Did not enjoy.
Love Talking Heads. Never listened to the whole album through, delightfully strange.
I'm a bad music fan. Not a huge fan of Queen. I enjoy a lot of their big hits but any deeper into their discography loses me.
Nostalgia factor is up there on this album, but apart from the main hits the rest of the album isn't anything special.
Great classic album with tons of hits
Want to rate it a 2, but it's Bowie so I can't. The title track alone compensates for the boringness of the rest of the album to bring it up to a 3.
Not a terrible listen, but nothing special. Sounds a bit like a knockoff version of the Clash
Mostly just noise. Every once in a while a song appears for a brief moment and it's back to noise. Can hear some sounds that eventually make their way into industrial rock, only other bands actually make music out of it by putting them into melodies or some sort of rhythm. Most of the tracks remind me of noises a kid would assemble and call it music, and a parent would say "oh yeah, great job buddy" and hope they never have to hear it again.
