Definitely enjoyed this album a lot more than Rid Of Me but it’s still not brilliant

There are some albums where you can tell something good is happening but they just don't appeal to you. This is one of them.

5/10 - it was ok...

I'll just copy my review from the previous PJ Harvey album we got. The only difference is that I've heard of her before now (from this list) and that this album seems a little less radio-friendly: I don't think I've heard of her before and don't understand why this album has any significance. I don't think it's bad and it does have pleasant moments, but it just doesn't really seem interesting or innovative to me in any way. Sounds like radio-friendly background music to me. 2.5 rounded down.

BOY WAS THIS NOT FOR ME. I don't know if purists or fans of the genre would consider this early 90s grunge, but I do, and I hate early 90s grunge. There was one song (second from the last I believe) that was alright, but not alright enough that I'd ever choose to put it on again.

Boring ass alt-rock.

Singer-songwriter -settiä vahvan naisen tyylillä. Yllättävän raskasta sointia ja laulu vähän epämiellyttävää huutamista. Tykkään enemmän leppoisammista naislaulajista, ei jaksa kuunnella huutoa!

While camping and half listening to half this album I thought liked it. Wrong. The best I can say is that this album is not offensive or I could say meh. I couldn’t wait for it to be over.

Pretty middle of the road, her voice grated after a while too. Best track: Dress

Another artist I'd heard of but never listened to. A decent listen but won't be revisiting.

Saved Prior: None Off Rip: Dress, Sheela-Na-Gig Cutting Edge: O Stella, Happy and Bleeding Overall Notes: Less abrasive and angry compared to the other one we listened to. Liked more songs, but didn't really nail an emotion like the other album so will probably be returning to this one less.

I have tried to like PH Harvey before. It is ok at best.

Grungy feel is good - Nirvana sans catchy riffs or melodies but with heightened notes of Nick Cave. Riot girl energy is good. Constant nails-on-a-chalkboard wailing is good. The song about female goatse is good. Turkey is a little dry.

Not much I liked about this. I hated the mixing / production. I didn't like her voice. The songs were boring and unmemorable. I guess the guitar was cool and the drums were pretty good. I just don't understand how this makes the top 1001.

Before listening: like the cover art, might have heard of PJ Harvey? Zero expectations for this one. During: Oh… so it started off kind of okay? And then… it became noise. I cannot stand the lead vocalist. I found a couple of moments of headbanging, but I cringe every time she sings. After: that album felt endless, glad to be through it. This sounds like a “grunge chick” band in the background of a bar scene playing a placeholder song based on a D-tier 3 chord riff. Really bad.

I think I said this the last time I had PJ Harvey but the singing and music sound like they are for two different songs. She clashes against the music constantly to the point where it annoying. 2/10

2/10 note I listened to the demos version as the original wasn't available on spotify or youtube music. Did not enjoy, all the songs are the same and just meld into one sameyness. Very boring and didn't find the artist's voice anything special

Ugh, another PJ Harvey album. I don't know why, but I expect her to be some cult classic artist from the 90s, but turns out she definitely isn't. At least not to me. The last album we had by her was nothing noteworthy, and neither is this. In fact, it's less than noteworthy, it's subpar. Her wheezing quickly becomes annoying to listen to, and musically there is not anything really to bring home here. Strong 1.

One of the things I've learnen from going through this list is just how much I despise PJ Harvey. I don't care how authentic or feminist or indie she is - she sucks.

Such a boring listen. There is nothing noteworthy for any of the songs and makes me wonder why it even is considered as on lf the greatest of all time

Thought i was going to like this offering. Hadn't heard of this artist before and I like Indie music and the 90's decade. Upon listening I was very disappointed. Thought it dull and tedious.

after the first 15 seconds i just gave up. i don’t really know how to even describe this, just that it is not something i will ever be listening to again. it sounded as dry as the album covers lips were.

Listening to this makes me feel like I'm looking for bugs in a dirty apartment complex; I suddenly open a dark and dingy closet and this is the soundtrack of what would blast at me with 200 silverfish scurrying out. Appropriately titled album. Low effort music, repetitive nonsense, lo-fi. No appeal whatsoever. 2/10 1 star.

1. not my thing, pretty miserable stuff. 2. similar, disliking this album fairly strongly so far. 3. Improvement, 'Dress' is listenable. 4. fine enough. 5. 6.7 songs just run on through, easily distracted. Not my cup of tea. Might have enjoyed it more when I was younger, and listened to this type of music more often, but found it a chore to get to the end of the slbum, couldn't wait for it to end.

I wish I had something good to say about this album. I enjoy emotional music, but there was nothing that stuck out to me or interested me. There wasn't a single song I even sort of enjoyed. I was praying for the end of the album to come. Really, just not for me.

Not my style. Couldn’t get interested in it. Listened twice and both times I got bored by the third song. Apparently critics love it. I don’t get it. 2.4/10

Pretty crazy we got the same artist two days in a row. Also crazy that I really don't like either of the albums. Tough for me to judge this impartially because I just don't like listening to it
