Reviews (page 12 of 13)

2.5 stars

I just can’t.

Something about her voice doesn't jive with me. Talented, for sure, but not my cup of tea.

What have I done to deserve two Joni Mitchell albums in one week? Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue. 2⭐️

Unable to make it through this one. Only redeeming qualities for me is the vocals. Find the lyrics and the melody clunky and hard to listen to.

#428. Yikes. The voice, the music, the song style. Just all of it, it gets a no from me. Listening to this was an exercise in dedication to doing this because the whole time I was just begging myself to make it stop. 2/5: why

Man, this has beauty. Man, it's not for me. Much respect, but just a 3 from me.

Not for me

2.5 At the end of the day im just not a huge Joni Mitchell fan. I did like the song River

Not for me

Pretty slow. Wish there wad a little more energy from her.

Nicht meine Musik, zumindest nicht gerade, Folk

This was a tough one to get through. The voice is just grating through the first 3/4 of it. The last few tracks are somewhat redeemable, but ugh. 2/5

Joni Mitchell is not for me. (This seems to be a theme haha)

Blue is how I feel after listening to this album. No shade meant for Joni, just ain't my vibe.

Good, but not my type.

I think that I wasn't in an understanding mood when I was listening to this album because I hated the higher pitched bits, and I have listened to Joni Mitchell before, but this set of songs was just too much. I would not rate this super low because I know that normally it would not have been like that but I did not have a good time.

I'm not a fan of Mitchell's voice, which is pretty much all that this album is. I like the simplicity of the music, but that's about it. This is not for me.

Interesting listen but not something I want to return to. On some songs it feels like she wrote the lyrics and music separately and then jammed them together even when the timing didn't match up. Maybe it's too high brow for me or maybe I'm just not a fan of this style of singer/songwriter folk music.

I don't know what I'm missing on this? I mean i get that she has a great voice but ok.. i don’t get how her album would rank higher than Linda Rondstant

Hermoso

Eh, not my jazz

Intens hoog maar wel oke

I didn't like it might. Too much near yodelling for no reason, but otherwise basic folksy music.

Was probably supposed to listen more closely to the lyrics. One of the greatest albums of all time. Not for me - recognized a few songs that other artists covered though, neat!

I can hear the talent on the album, but unfortunately I can also hear her voice. It's very inconsistent and goes to places I feel it shouldn't. This is not something I'll ever listen to again unless forced to.

I was so bored and it made me sad

It's Joni Mitchell.

The vocal pyrotechnics often undercut the emotional moments of the songs by distracting from them rather than emphasizing them. I also find her voice to just be grating at times. The instrumentals are nothing special at best, pretty corny at worst.

Really different than I was expecting. Way too folksy for me.

Heard it before... it's over my head. Got bored. Yes I'm the problem on this one

in my younger and more vulnerable years, I once spent an entire lunchtime arguing with one of my Year 10 music teachers about whether Joni Mitchell sucked or not. really I was rescuing him from ripping bongs and day-drinking in the staff room, which is usually how he spent his lunchtimes. one time he pegged a recorder at a kid and ran out of the room crying because, for some reason, playing a recorder along to some afro-cuban beats in 7/8 wasnt enthralling to a class of 14 year olds. his wife was a substitute teacher at the school and nothing gave me a more visceral understanding of freudian sexual development than seeing those two together. anyway suffice to say that I don't get joni mitchell at all. music for people who own 4 airbnbs for tax purposes and refuse to fix the plumbing in any of them. the best thing she ever did was temporarily quit the music industry to become a morgellons awareness activist

Great voice and great lyrics. Its just not an easy listen for me. There is just something missing for me. I think the album lacks fun. Favourite song: River Least favourite: everything was much of a muchness Album artwork: Great cover

Glad that was only 10 songs

Kept losing my attention - got better as it went on.

God damn it. The 1001 editors have a hard on for Joni Mitchell. 4th album so far. Please stop.

one of one, this girl. 2.5

Not my fav Joni

Lots of songs were just too saccharine and sappy for me, although enough were more punchy that I tipped up into a two star review. I'd describe it as "okay" at best.

country not really mine. The taxi song is by her

I just find her voice a bit annoying tbh. Just because you have a massive vocal range doesn't mean you should use the entire spectrum in almost every song. Not for me.

I know this is widely considered one of the greatest ever, I just can't stand her delivery. Not a fan at all.

I guess you have to be in the mood to listen to this. I wasn't.

Not my style

Tweeeee

Singer/Songwriter…Carey is the Highlight but the rest is typical for this genre…5/10

I know it's critically acclaimed, one of the best albums of all time etc.. but it did nothing for me

Ever huge fan of Joni Mitchell. Could live without this album

Disappointing

Interesting voice. Not for me.

Not my thing. Listens: 1 Rating: 2

Classic album by Joni Mitchell

Appreciate her voice. She's an amazing singer but it's just to slow for my liking.

01.05.24 Faves: - Blue - River - The Last Time I Saw Richard Opinion: I liked her voice. Not my type of album, or genre. English isn't my first language so I think I missed out the storytelling in the songs.

Not as good as the other one

definitely a 70s album, something about this era is so obnoxiously serious, I cant.

a bit repetitive but beautiful songs. her voice annoys me a bit sometimes. probably won't listen to it much

Carey, Blue, The Flight Tonight

I just cannot with her octave changes

Great lyrics, but just not my vibe.

How she howls... My head hurts

I was into it to begin with, but then i found a really annoying repeating pattern to the way she sings and harmonises with the melody.

Everything I expected

I enjoy the acoustic and musicianship of Joni - but lyrical can vocally it leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion

Difficult vocals to love. I liked a few songs.

Musically, I really liked it. At various points, I like her voice. Then there's the vast majority where it's just too high. I like to listen to music loudly. This was painful. The music keeps it from being a 1 star.

Eeeh I did not like it.

Made me sleepy

Such a unique voice, but this album doesn't feel right. It feels a bit immature. The sound feels homogeneous. I kind of like the song River. I had a nice nap during my second listen.

Had to listen on YouTube

She’s ok. Not really a fan.

Wertung: 😣(😣)/5 (inkl. +1 für "California")

Hard for me to rate in a vacuum. I really don’t care for her artistic direction.

Didn’t manage to listen to this the whole way through. About 4 songs in I got a bit bored.

This album is poetic and emotional, but it has a specific sound that I'm not sure I can fully appreciate ::cue several very high vocal key changes here:: It's a bit like someone reading their diary aloud in the voice of Mary Poppins but make it Canadian. She's definitely unique but the tone and sound just aren't for me. I mean, she's playing a dulcimer here, that sums it up enough. It's not about to make you jump up and sprain an ankle from jiving.

Pretty simple acoustic guitar with some nice backing tracks. The vocals are definitely the star. It's surprising how much emotion they can pull from you. There's nothing specifically great about it but I'm surprised how much I enjoyed it. I've only recently been made aware of Joni Mitchell's legacy. Prior to this I'm not sure I'd ever heard any of her work. I can see how this would have had an impact when it released. I don't think I'll be going back to Joni but I have a better understanding of why people speak so highly of her from this small slice. 2.20 stars

Kunde inte lyssna längre än typ 3 låtar. Inte min smak men bra sångröst.

Nyávogás

huutaa ja huutaa.. kiljuu ja kiljuu.. ei yhtään miellyttävä ääni muijalla.. hiljaa...anna musiikin soida... outo ämmä... osaa sentään pianoa pimputtaa ja kitaraa rämpyttää.annetaan respektiä kun respektiä tarvitaan. third greatest album of all time - rolling tone. väärin. kolmanneksi paras albumi koskaan on Кино - Чёрный альбом... rokki klassikko siinä, mahatavat melodiat, oikeasti OSAA LAULAA.. tarvi kokoajan falsettoon mennä ku joku kirkkoherra palveluksessa.. river

I can see why people like, but it's not for me. I moderately enjoyed listening to it but I wont probably go back to it

Not a fan of Joni Mitchell, so a low review from me.

Not one of my favorites. She’s way too whiny. All the songs sound the same No variation at all

I was thoroughly enjoying this album until my grandchildren asked me to change the radio channel, and then their grandchildren asked them what a radio was. On average, our household didn't like this

dont see the point of this album 34 minutes run time but felt like it went on for too long

It was good but wasn’t really my type of music plus it wasn’t on Spotify so it was rlly inconvenient. 2/5 Listened to it throughout the day and thought it was okay, thank god for YouTube premium, but still eh, probably wouldn’t go through it again. 2/5

Interesting voice but not my style of music, gave it a 2 for her song writing talent

Pleasant, but not my jam.

Sweet voice and simple backing piano, pleasant to listen to.

It's good, but I'm not hugely excited by it.

As far as joni Mitchell goes this isn't my favorite album

not my thing

Well the first real miss. Other than The River I didn’t really like anything. It just isn’t for me.

Interesting music and voice changes, but can get a bit too repetitive

All I Want: What an interesting voice. It's a good song, it's not really my style but I definitely appreciate it. My Old Man: Uses more falsetto here. Warmest chord is a cool line. Definitely feel like this is an album where the lyrics are the standout. I'm not a lyrics guy so this may be a struggle. Little Green: This is a really sombre feel. Is this an astrological girlie song? Carey: A little more upbeat, this is a fun track. Blue: Back to sombre piano. One of the better ones I have enjoyed so far. California: This is kind of a fun tune again. Probably my favourite so far. This Flight Tonight: I feel like I recognize this song. It's good. I feel like I like the guitar-centric songs more than the piano-centric ones. May be a new favourite. River: From the first piano chords, I was like CHRISTMAS. Yeah, it's okay. The lyrics feel personal but the singer-songwriter music feels a little generic considering the age of the album. Alright, this song is probably my least favourite. A Case Of You: This one isn't doing it for me either. The Last Time I Saw Richard: Ahh, just what I needed, a piano ballad. I get why this is regarded as an acclaimed album, unfortunately, it just doesn't hit me in that sense. I've always been really picky with singer-songwriter music.

Not my style but understand why it is considered a quality album.

Solid but too slow for me

Was pretty bored throughout the album 4/10

Very similar music across, didnt really enjoy it

Not my vibe.

This album really made you *feel* like you were blue

I want to like it but me and Joni's voice just do not like one another. The higher pitches...eek no. Also lol; I want to shampoo you. Wtf

I recognize it's good music. Not my style

I can see how people really enjoy this album and historically it has a huge impact but did they hear how Joni Mitchell was singing. It was like a melodic howl. Sure the songs may be well written and important but when it comes to performing them it was not great. People can love this that’s fine but I’m out. 4.8/10

I’m not a fan of female vocalists, and nothing about this album felt unique.

Mitchell has a excellent introspective voice that Shines through this record. The topic is sad and melancholic, yet not depressing. Unlike many shoegaze, emo and sad core music, you can hear what Mitchell is saying. Blue ends up being the perfect name for this album. But despite that, this is not the album for me. I can appreciate it but struggle to enjoy it. It's not my type of music, and is certainly not the record I would put on just because I like it.

nice voice but didnt care much for the album. downloaded the song little green

Couldnt listen as not on spotify!

Joni has a beautifully angelic voice, which is elegantly matched to her folk tunes and accomplished lyrics. The only thing is one track was enough, I'll never play this album again, it was OK to listen and give it a review, I'll try anything twice lol, but this style of music and singing is all too churchy for me, I need to feel my music, not have to feel like an upper class snob clinically disecting each song like an art critic describing how wonderful a blob of paint on a canvass is a masterpiece. To each their own, but Joni Mitchell is defo not for me.

Feel like I’m always on the edge of liking this. I really get into parts and then get pulled out.

interesting style of folkish, with a nice voice - but not quite my thing. Interesting that Rolling Stone voted this as the 3rd best album of all time... 2/5 - listened 2x, more of 2.5

not really my jam. a couple nice songs on there.

It was OK. Still not my cup of tea, feels like I listened to the same song 10 different times lol

didn't love it. lyrically I'm sure it is very impactful, but not my style

If trimmed down to only 'a case of you', this album be so great. But I just phase out with the rest of the songs.

I must be missing something here. Songs seem forgettable, the random pitch changes are annoying, I guess the lyrics are kinda poetic but nothing special. I’m off to listen to Tapestry on Spotify.

I like a lot of female singer/songwriters but Joni has always left me cold and I can’t quite put my finger on why. Clearly influential to the likes of Tori Amos and Laura Marling. Her voice irritates me and I find the music meandering. It doesn’t engage me so I find myself unable to concentrate on the lyrics. Found it on YouTube due to her boycotting Spotify and the comments were gushing and calling this the best album of all time. I really don’t get it

I liked the guitar but can’t stand her voice

Unknown album was unavailable on Spotify

Had to find this outside of Spotify. Ok album; music was decent and vocals were fine, but nothing really jumped out at me.

Great singer-songwriter, but I can't seem to enjoy her music.

Why? Why 1001 albums? This is the 4th fucking Joni Mitchell album to which you've subjected me. I cannot stand her style of music. It all feels like she's just making up the melodies as she goes. I'd love to just listen to her play the piano. That sounds pretty good. But then she starts this singing a love letter warbling that sends me through the roof. I'd give this one star if it wasn't for the fact that she is very talented, I just don't like her songs.

Kuin olisi tehty taustatrackejä runoille. Valitettavasti runojen pitäisi silloin olla vahvempia. Tosin A Cade of you voisi olla Tommu Tabermania.

Great voice. Boring music.

Joni Mitchell is undeniably talented but ultimately just not for me. Blue is another example where her voice and range just don't work for my ears, however nice the music is. 2.

Gorgeous voice and captivating singing and personal lyrics. I can see why it was so influential and her style was so progressive and legacy building. I personally just don't enjoy listening to this style of music all too much, and isn't something I'd casually listen to

Heard it before?: Yes Enjoy it?: Not really, nice vocals but just feels flat and void of anything I enjoy usually for the genre Favourite song l: didn’t have one

BL: I only know “Big Yellow Taxi” - which is both a comedic and harrowing pro-nature song. Pointing fun at car centric infrastructure and hammering the point on that we are destroying the earth - and the majority are only really listening now. I’ll see how I find this album. AL: I didn’t really like it that much tbh. The 2 stars is for the lyrical content - Mitchell is very clearly a brilliant lyricist and writer, however this whole album falls apart for me because I just don’t like Joni Mitchell’s voice, which obviously devalues my ranking of the album. I think that it definitely appeals to a crowd which I’m sure it reaches and they love it - however that’s not me. Favourite track: “river”

another one of those really famous albums that does not interest me in the slightest.

Not available on Spotify. Not arsed

Not great but is definitely better than her court and spark album.

Just not my thing. River is amazing though.

Nice album but I didn't connect with it, not sure what it is, the simple paired back music, the off kilter way she sings but it's not for me and there wasn't a song that I wish to listen to again. It it me? No it's the kids who are wrong!

I can see why people like this album but for me its a one and done.

of it's time

Niet op spotify..

Just not for me I'm afraid

Not a fan

I feel somewhat ashamed that I didn't really care for this. It's not that I think it's bad, it's just not something I could get into. This project has made me realize that I don't care for minimalistic music that focuses heavily on vocals. I need a backing band. With a heavy dose of guilt, I can only give this a 2 since I was glad when it was over.

I get where joni is coming from but pulling all of her music from spotify really sucks. Not only is it a pain in the ass to listen to it but, like the last album of her's, the music itself isn't even worth seeking out. It's just boring hippie folk music and I was gonna give it a 2 but now I'm almost thinking about giving it a one because of the situation now.

I know it's a super highly regarded album, but unfortunately I could not get into it :(

2.5. I can do without Joni Mitchell in my life.

Not on Spotify so YouTube had to suffice. Ads and all. Didn’t enjoy it. Found her singing style quiet irritating. Others may love it.

Not a massive fan of this one

Nope. God knows I've tried long and hard over the years. (Largely due to a Mr H. Hancock. If he recommended trying a dog's fart on loop, I'll do it no questions asked.) I guess this is one of those "it is *definitely* me, not you" affairs.

Best Song: Blue. Feels the most poetic and artful on an album full of poetic, artsy songs. Worst Song: California. Lots of that upper register stuff here... Overall: I like that Joni Mitchell makes the music she does, but I'm not sure that I like the music. The songwriting and lyrics are thoughtful, but the vocals (particularly the upper register) just sounds grating to me. I feel like would rather read a book of Mitchell's poetry than listen to the performed versions.

Largely good and definitely deserves to be on here but some of her WAILING really clangs on the ears.

2/5. Not for me

Not on Spotify

I feel like I'm supposed to like Joni Mitchell, but I just don't. I guess that means I need to continue my emotional education.

I hate that style of vocals. I never understood its appeal. Not my bag.

Wasnt a big fan, I can appreciate the lyrics and stories behind the songs but just couldn’t relate. Too bare bones when it came to the instrumentals and couldn’t get into it.

I don't like it. Songs are good enough to ignore the awful vocals and the musicianship is decent but that's about it.

Mid x2

It was okay. I was hoping for more.

It was ok

While her voice is beautiful and it’s a very relaxed album, it is just not my cup of tea.

She's obviously very talented, not 100% my thing though

I think because of the spotify drama I had to listen to this on YouTube.. so far I like it! I wish I could play it on Spotify. Her voice is a little weird and I need to get used to it. I actually can't get through this album, nevermind.

I don’t care for Joni Mitchell.

Not for me.

Not on Spotify

The lyrics is probably a poetic masterpiece but why would I care? It sounds boring as heck.

No thanks. Not into the voice, bored by the songs and the overall sound struck me as kind of flat and lifeless.

Her voice is way too high for me to enjoy this. It's uncomfortable to listen to.

Can't find this album

Ugh. The album is only 35 minutes long, but towards the end it just needed to stop. I was not familiar with any of songs or the artist. It was folk music. I will not be listening to the album again.

Boy am I going to look foolish here but I'm sorry, this album gets on my nerves. Most others love this however I find it pretentious. No doubt she can sing but it just grates on me. I swear on the song Blue towards the end she sounds like Yoko. Prince loved this album and I've given it many tries but sorry Blue just leaves me cold

Ain't on Spotify RIP

Not too bad

I respect her for standing alongside Neil Young in protesting against Rogan, and since she’s a Canadian legend, I tried, I really tried. But I really can’t get past her voice and her annoying vibrato yodelling skatting singing style. Her voice just overshadows her reportedly wonderful lyrics and song writing. Sorry.

I swear that I tried to like it because I know about her importance for the music, but I can't, unfortunately. Besides 1 or 2 songs that are nice, the album is nothing my cup of tea at all!

A few days before I got this one Joni Mitchell boycotted Spotify in protest over their anti-vax content, so I was intrigued. I really liked her voice, but none of the songs have stuck with me apart from the Christmas song.

Great voice, unique

I understand why many people like Jodi Mitchell, but that doesn’t mean I have yo be one of them. This album is just to folksy for me, the melodies jumping all over the shop, and I couldn’t help but mistake the opening passage of River for Jingle Bells. I want to like it, but I’d be forcing it.

Beautiful timbre and emotion, but not melodic in a way I can appreciate right now.

I've tried. Just can't get into Joni Mitchell.

Very good album if you like Folk or were already alive in the 1970s, sadly i dont fit either of these. 2/5

I feel like I’m supposed to like Joni Mitchell. I know a lot of people really do like her. Not me. She can definitely sing, but her voice irritates me. And I was already irritated when I started listening to this.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Nothing good ever came out of Fort Macleod. California is the only tolerable song on here.

not my type

Boring album

I had no idea that Sarah McLachlan had redone Blue.

Sorry Joni, was not a fan of this one.

She has excellent cheekbones.

2/5 nope...

Never got on the Joni Mitchell wavelength, though I can see its appeal (to others)

I tried to keep an open mind. I just cannot get into Joni Mitchell at all.

Just not for me.

Rating: 5/10

Though Joni Mitchell's Blue launched an entire generation of female singer-songwriters and has been extremely influential, I clearly prefer artists such as Beth Orton. Honestly, I find Joni's mezzo-soprano vocal style unbearingly annoying, and there is not a single track on here I would consider listening to again. I'm sorry, it's a 2/5 for me.

folksy and easy to listen too.

Probably a voice you either love or hate, unfortunately I think I’m in the latter camp

I must not have been in the mood for sad, breakup music when I listened to this, because none of the songs on this album stood out to me. Joni Mitchell's singing & compositions are good, but I don't see how this album has been rated so high by music publishers. Maybe this just isn't the genre of music for me. Anyway congrats to Joni for securing the 24th spot in the Top 1000 Albums list, I guess...

Beautiful voice, but overall wasn't a fan. Too old for my tastes.

Not my cup of tea

Einfach kein Folkmensch.

Good song writer but prefer her songs when covered by other artists

Inoffensive but uninspiring. Wouldn't listen again.

She has a great voice but all the falsetto vocal breaks evey other line is pretty jarring.

I don't think I'm a fan of Joni Mitchell. I really hate River in particular because of that episode of New Girl.

Enjoyed from Blue onwards and she's a good singer but by the that time my mood was flat from the songs previous. As an album on the whole it's meh

Find her a little whiney, so by the end I am done. But the start is okay.

Definitely not my jam

Litt snorkolini det her ass

There was nothing about this album that was intriguing. First one where I have kinda questioned why it was put on this list in the first place

I like Joni but can't listen to more than 2 songs at a time...

Just a monumental: why? I'm sure the lyrics are fascinating and complex, the style wonderful and meandering - but man, that voice just grates on you after a while :/

uff hettmi iwie gad instant abgfuckt

don't like her style

Didn't enjoy as much as I was hoping for.

Bit whiney

I mean, it's tolerable, but honestly if you've ever heard a Joni Mitchell song then you know they are all literally the same bloody thing.

Not my cup of tea but made for a relaxing drive through the hills

Joni Mitchell is no doubt great, I'm not a huge fan of how soft this is but it's one of those records that definitely deserves to be on the list!

good music. could do without the yodelling

Too whiney for me

Not my cup of tea but I enjoyed being introduced to something different

Weird but in a sad way

I've listened to pretty much every single album of this challenge so far (up to #366) all the way through but Joni's voice is my own version of purgatory, I simply cannot stand it and have no idea how anyone can.

I'm glad it finished - tier music. So here we got a sad and romatic kind of singer-songwriter music. Already warning, and in the end the album proves dull. Really dull. Mitchell's romantic stories and emotional verses are just uninteresting with that kind of generic background music, mostly guitar which sadly is bad. The piano adds just a bit of spark to this but even then her emotions evoke cringe and mostly not compassion. It sounds like your gf, who ain't a musician, sitting there and singing her stuff. You might make compliments due to your role but those are lies and you do not really enjoy it much. "Carey" was the one promising song but I did not add it anyways. Apart from that, there are maybe one to two songs that are just okay, with the rest being boring. We are here to listen to music and not some romantic poems. So respectfully, you do not have to heard this album before you die.

Imagine how good she'd sound if she could hold a note for more than .2s without changing key and breaking into a wobbley warble. Love her lyrics, just cannot stand her delivery. She can't sing. She can't hold a note and just flails around hoping to hit roughly the right sound. She can't breathe properly so switches to sing-gasping or out-of-breath mumbling. Even when she does manage to hit a note, she confuses range for musicality. Also worst cover of Jingle Bells.

Weird flow. Notes progression sounds really bad to my ears.

I really wanted to keep an open mind about this but I'm sad to say this is my least favorite album on this list so far. I didn't find any of the songs particularly interesting lyrically or sonically, and while she seems vocally talented I found her voice irritating by the end. So sorry Joni but this just wasn't it (for me).

Ok she can hit a high note but she can't carry a tune, voice was all over the place. Yes I know she's acclaimed and praiseworthy but I just can't see it

Not a fan

beyond awful

Almost an insufferable voice. Barely tolerable. Every song as bland as the last.

Joni Mitchell's fourth album—and for me, the same goes for this project. Just as awful as the others before it. I couldn't stand listening to even two tracks of it. I hope I never have to hear from her again. 1/5

Dare I say this is one of the first viral breakup albums? This is 1971 "Folklore" and I do not understand why I need to listen to this before I die. "California" and "A Case of You" are the only two that are better than a 3/10. Other than that, this whole album is a 1/10. I think this is famous for the same reasons as the Kardashians are, apparently you can grab fame and squeeze it all over you to make yourself famous.

Nope. Dislike.

It is not a decent album. Her voice and sing style are boring and annoying and the arrangements and instrumental aswell. I really don’t think this album should be in this list.

Joni Mitchell's voice has always creeped me out a little bit. this album doesn't have the like 1 banger track of hers I know. feels like generic hippy crap.

Booooorrrring,... She has talent, but this listen couldn't end fast enough.

It would be outrageous to suggest Joni Mitchell is talentless. Clearly this isn't the case but this was an absolute sleeping pill of an album. It felt a lot longer than 36 minutes. Tolerable at times, grating at others. As a general disliker of the singer + single instrument formula, this was unlikely to be for me and it certainly wasn't.

I just don't really like folk:(( really tried

Joni Mitchell is one of those artists that I feel like I'm *supposed* to like, but I just don't. Her voice is like fingernails on the chalkboard to me. I get that she's an important singer/songwriter, that she's beloved by many, but I've always felt like her music is some kind of Candid Camera hoax that the world is playing on me.

I didn’t enjoy this at all. Not my thing.

Goddamn the voice gives me a headache and it's so much louder than the rest of the mixing. There's more than high notes out there.

Thank god this is only 36 minutes. Meh. Her voice is so high to me it’s strident. I’m just not a fan.

Nope. Not for me.

Going to be honest. I will upset people I am sure, but I couldn’t get past the voice. Not my choice of music at all. 4.5/10

Just a person trying to change as many octaves as she can for 36 minutes. Ugh will never listen to this one again. 2/10 (and that is me being nice)

Not for me, sounds very of it's time 0/10 liked

She has talent but I wouldn’t listen to any of these songs again.

I was hoping to be pleasantly surprised by this record, not being a fan of Joni Mitchell. I was absolutely surprised at how much I loathed this record. Her voice and lyrics are insufferable. I was so relieved when the last song was over. This just isn’t music made for me. My gut reaction was so strong that I can’t pretend to rate this one objectively.

Not a fan of Joni Mitchell. Relisten didn’t improve.

Hated when Amanda Seyfreid sang California on the Jimmy show and hated it when I heard it on this record. I don’t like her voice at all. Reminds me of the people who think they can sing and then bust out in theatrical yelling. Sorry!

Find it a struggle to listen to Joni Mitchell. Have gotten over her doing blackface

1. uuant - 1 2. man - 1.5 3. green - 2 4. carey -1 5. blue - 2 6. california - 1.5 7. flight - 1 8. river - 1.5 9. caze - 1.5 10. time - 1

I’ve heard my whole life how this is a classic. Essential listening. It just didn’t do anything for me. I love the 60’s folk stuff but I could only get with one song on here.

There’s already been one Joni Mitchell album and that was already too many.

Great lyrics as in words feels like personal and touching but I hate the rhythm of it idk the melody is great n her voice is so unique and interesting but really boring personally, works well as background music but doesn't interest my ears that much and her voice is not my fav even tho I said its unique lol. it really has that 90s sound to it that makes it so simple yet incredible but is not really my style, maybe I need to check out her other albums fav song - a case of you

Ah I'm really bored. Like, it's nice. But super boring.

Naw... Just can't get into Joni Mitchell

I did not have fun.

Nah… nie podoba mi się

Any lyrics-first type of album starts with a disadvantage with me, and this is very much a lyrics-first album. Also I do not like her voice, and the accompanying music wasn't for me either

Second album by Joni. I just don't like her. Find it boring and hard work.

I actively hated this album. I do not understand why people like Joni Mitchell so much. Also, she loves wearing blackface

I get it I get it, influential... shes your favorite singers favorite singer songwriter. Her voice makes me unreasonably angry. It sounds like the used tin cans and strings to record this. I understand why shes on this list, but these are my rankings and I think shes ass.

Shame on you

I’ll never understand how overrated this artist is.

Just when I think there are moments where the songs might sound good…she chooses to venture into that cringe-worthy falsetto. Another overrated album from an overrated artist.

No, no, never, no, never

A Thanksgiving treat to give this overrated album/artist an emphatic 1*. 1.5/5

Just did not like the music, lyrics or singing style.

Umrijet ću od dosade. Strašno. 1/5, 1/10

Didn't like

I dunno i didnt care much for this one. Nothing really stuck out musically. Dont love her voice either
