Iconisch album André 3000 flow kan dit niets anders dan 5 sterren geven.

Dam it I've only just realised the title is a pun. I'm so slow I'm more than a quarter century behind.

André, Big Boi, take my 5 stars you beautiful bastards.

Absolutely incredible

Hell yes. Nonstop booty shakin good times.

Another album I have definitely heard a few songs from but never listened to the whole thing all the way through. Intro was cool hehe, loved the sexy lady moaning. Gasoline Dreams: Awesome guitar, energy, and beat. I'm Cool: sexy voice, LOL Bitch stay off that blow. So Fresh, So Clean: Yep this is one I've definitely heard before. Mr. Jackson: Didn't know these were back to back on the album. I like this song.

Fanstankulous

Perfect

Very good

*I met a critic, I made her shit her draws She said she thought hip-hop was only guns and alcohol I said, Oh hell naw! But yet it's that too You can't discrima-hate cuz you done read a book or two* Everybody knew when this came out that it was a classic; now, after a quarter century, it's clearer exactly what *kind* of classic it is. This album is nothing less than a defining album in the canon of What It Means to Be Black in America - a *What's Going On* or a "Songs in the Key of Life* or a "Sign 'O' the Times* - but for the 21st century. Big Boi - focused, aggressive, forward-thinking - amps up the BPMs and the EDM influences ("B.O.B," "Humble Mumble," "?") whilst enlisting first-rate collaborators (that's a young Killer Mike on "Snappin' & Trappin'"). His compatriot Andre 3000, having named himself after the future and eager to leave rap behind completely, still condescends to spit classic verses ("I'll Call Before I Come," "Xplosion") before expanding the palette on the album's back end to prefigure the Soundcloud era, more than a decade early. "Ms. Jackson" is of course the best-known classic but "Toilet Tisha" is a benchmark that the rest of the rap world spent more years catching up to - futuristic and altered and heartbreaking, a "Brenda's Got a Baby" for a new millennium. And I haven't even *really* conveyed the ways in which the vastness of this album's breadth signifies - the reclamation of damn near all of American music as Black American music that's signaled by the wah-wah guitar on "Gasoline Dreams" and "We Luv Deez Hoez," the horns on "Spaghetti Junction," the lyrics and rhythms on "Red Velvet" that reach past Run-D.M.C.'s "Peter Piper" to Fleetwood Mac's "Gold Dust Woman." To take all of that and shove it ahead in time - to insist that the Culture *must* move forward because in many ways it began with a six-week act of erasure over the Atlantic, because it is always in danger of further being erased or stolen or scribbled over, because forward is the only direction it *can* go - is a heroic act. Superheroic, in fact - specifically, Green Lantern, who can create whatever he can conceive of. And it's that sense of pure creation that we are all still chasing whenever we play this album, to this day.

Good turn-of-the-millenium fun.

One of the coolest album ever

outkast <3

feeling stanky today. Ms. Jackson goes platinum in my house.

Funky & cool.

Best Outkast album, perfect blend of Andre 3000 and Big Boi

Arguably the greatest rap album ever. If you listened to it and you have an open mind you do not need me to explain this one to you. If you don’t like rap, carry on I guess.

Can’t say I know much about this duo outside their biggest hits Hey Ya and Ms. Jackson. This album has a wild intro and then launched into Gasoline Dreams with crazy energy. Wow this is incredible beats are impeccable and varied, all kinds of different moods and atmospheres (though the album in general is about love and sex). Great flow and delivery. It just slaps end to end. As soon as the album ended I just put it back on. Easy easy five stars. Some all time great songs here like So Fresh, So Clean, ?, Red Velvet, Ms. Jackson. The album is straight bangers front to back one of the best hip hop albums I ever listened to if not the best one.

Immediately excited to listen to this album. Not including the intro, the first few songs (Gasoline Dreams, So Fresh So Clean) were an absolute vibe. Got me hooked instantly. Once again I say that albums with good flow between songs will always earn bonus points in my book. The interludes, I feel, are incredibly fun and a nice little blip between songs. I know a lot of people feel they're unnecessary and shouldn't have been included, but honestly I can't see this album being as great as it is without them. It's genuinely very hard to pick favorites here, all of these songs are great. After every song I'd say 'okay, THIS is my favorite' and then the next song would knock me off my ass and I'd say 'okay, no, THIS is my favorite' ad nauseum. Definitely a standout album, especially after the last few I've generated.

Day 13 Stankonia by Outkast I was 7 years old when “Ms. Jackson” came out. At the time I was only listening to Eminem and didn’t really know much about hip hop. But I used to watch MTV all the time here in Iceland, and that song was constantly on. It honestly felt like my world changed. The sound was so unique, I’d never heard anything like it before. From the very first beat, I just knew it was cool. Outkast ended up being my gateway into hip hop. Listening to this now, I can’t believe it’s over 20 years old. It sounds so ahead of its time. There’s this mix of blues, jazz, psychedelic, melodic southern hip hop—it’s like every American music genre is somehow packed into this album. And the influence is obvious. You can hear it in artists like Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar and even modern trap. It’s aged incredibly well. I think André 3000 once quoted Back to the Future in the 90s when they were booed at the Grammys: “I guess you guys aren’t ready for that yet, but your kids are gonna love it.” That really fits this album. Even though it sold well in the US, Outkast were still ahead of their time. Some people might say it’s a bit bloated, but honestly I love every song on here. Maybe a few too many interludes, but I don’t mind them. Wine pairing? Something bold and expressive like a Zinfandel or a big California red. Full of personality, a bit wild, but still smooth. Food pairing? Southern comfort food fits perfectly. Fried chicken, cornbread, maybe some mac and cheese. Vinyl? Don’t own it and don’t really feel the need to. First listen? No. Overall 5 out of 5. Second 5/5 so far!

9.1 a near no skip just 1 or 2 goofy tracks (call before...). Solid lyricism (with the odd exception), slick style and great production. Doesnt fall into the same issues as other classics of the era namely reliance on features which it obvs uses but tastefully, cee lo and killer mike in particular work great. Just doesnt quite reach the same heights as aquemini (BOB, So fresh, miss jackson all great singles but cant rival aquemini, return of the g or art of storytelling) and has one or two far lower lows (call b4...). Overall however an amazing album in its own right and as much as ive compared it brings something different to aqeumini

This is definitely one of the best hip-hop albums of all time! So fresh, so clean, ms jackson?! Come on! Love me some outkast!

Very uneven, just like Speakerboxxx/The Love Below. But at their best there are few better.

Is there a better song to see live than“B.O.B?" No fucking way. I have first-hand proof. Saw Andre 3000 and Big Boi on the Area 1 tour during this era. I'd take a rocket ship to Stankonia in a heartbeat.

Another classic Outkast album. So many bangers, that is slightly held back by bad skits. Still a must listen if you love or are getting into hip hop. 4.75 / 5

i already know this masterpiece godamn :(

pretty fire

CACETADA

(Bombs Over Baghdad)".

Awesome! Loved it.

sehr sehr gut

Outkast has many classics, this one is surely one of the greatest mainstream hip hop albums of all time 4.6/5

Love wholeheartedly

Top to bottom a great album.

Fuckin great

Not sure I was able to process all of this, but I was never bored and never not thinking I was in the presence of extraordinary talent.

This is an absolute mess. Five stars.

The first album in the generator that made me say “YYEESSS!!” when I saw it pop up. One of the greatest rap groups of all time, OutKast redefines the genre in this album. A mixture of tracks and interludes, some go hard, others humorous. There’s an undertone of joy in this album. I wish music videos were part of the 1001 experience as OutKast masterfully paired film with lyrics in Ms Jackson and BOB. Andre was right, “the South’s got something to say!”

Hip Hop is pretty hit or miss for me, but this album was solely on the hit side. I have been a fan of Andre 3000 and Outkast in the past, but never really explored them outside their biggest hits. I have been recently obsessed with P-Funk and I clocked the influence as soon as the intro played. Andre 3000 is a well-rounded musician making hip hop music rather than a solely hip hop artist. For a double LP the album did a good job of keeping me engaged for the runtime. There are a lot of interludes; but they are so short that they do not take away from the album and act as a nice breaks in-between songs the Pre-Nump interlude especially got a laugh from me. Will definitely listen to this one again in the future. Favorite Track - Ms. Jackson Least Favorite Track - Snappin' & Trappin' ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Amazing album, 5 stars for B.O.B alone

Most people will say that Aquamini is the best OutKast album but this one is actually my favorite. Andre and Big Boy's sound just bounce off each other so well here. It might be a bit too long (there does not need to be that many interludes on any album) but this is so packed to the gills with classics. Ms. Jackson, Gasoline Dreams, B.O.B, and So Fresh So Clean for starters. This is about as good as Southern Hip Hop gets. 10/10

Insanely well produced. If anything would drop this down from a 5 its the skits/interludes, which I guess I just hate on any album since I seem to always have problems with them.

This is such a throw back to my high school days. Not really my favorite style any more, but I am definitely enjoying it. I am sitting at work bopping my head like Michael Bolton in Office Space. haha! Kim and Cookie?! OMG! I can relate so hard to that! B.O.B is amazing! The longer I listened to this album, the more I liked it!

Banger after banger.

Rating: 4.8/5 Short Review: Explosive, weird, and wildly creative, this is OutKast pushing hip-hop into funk, psychedelia, and pure chaos. It’s dense but never loses its groove or sense of fun. Favorite Track: B.O.B. The energy is insane from the first second, with rapid-fire flows and a beat that feels like it’s about to burst out of the speakers.

Always perfectly incredible

best album oat

Obviously B.O.B. and Ms Jackson are incredible tracks, but I was impressed at how much I enjoyed this entire album, despite the 1 hour + runtime. Humble Mumble was a surprise standout. The only real negative were the interludes.

This record is incredible. Every single track flows perfectly from one to the next, making the project feel huge and connected. The individual tracks stand out absurdly, with hits and deep cuts scoring all 10s keeping the album consistent. The instrumentals are massive and engaging, making the whole album incredibly hooky. This record is absurdly gas, and completely breaks through the wall of the entire hip-hop scene, waymaking for the entire decade and the future of the genre's potential. This isn't just an album, it's a cinematic monument and experience of music.

Just an all time classic. Peak southern rapping from Big Boi. Andre at the top of all of his powers. Would give more stars if I could.

Not as consistent as ATLiens or Aquemini, but still a great album

Imagine making an album and just casually having two perfect songs like “So Fresh, So Clean” and “Ms. Jackson” back to back. Just like that. Then again, the thing about Stankonia is that's it's all perfect songs.

Cant go wrong with OutKast. A pleasure to listen to one of their albums all the way through, should try it again honestly

Classic, revolutionary and unreal flow

I needed this today

The bangers are banging.

They say a computer can make music better than OutKast can damn do it Motherfuckers! (Break!)

As always, the skits just kinda take me out of it, but the music is absolutely top notch. And, while it's not quite at the level of ATLiens or Speakerboxx, it's still way better than rubber soul.

Prime OutKast is hard to beat

One of three candidates for the top album when I finish this challenge. The other two are Kid A and Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots

All-time classic, one of the best rap albums ever made

This album stanks but it's a good stank the kinda stank you rip and huff and you know it stank bad to other people but you luuurve that stank

Listened while driving around. An absolute classic. I ended up liking it a bit less than I remembered on this listen. I forgot how long it is and (like pretty much all rap from this era) could really do without the skits and interludes. Regardless this album was way ahead of its time and rap still hasn't caught up in many ways.

Banger Album

Awesome story telling as always from Outkast. Never have I heard an artist integrate their voice into the music better than Andre 3000. He doesn't just lay lyrics he breaths life into music. Though I think claiming that stankonia is the place from which all funk comes from is a bit bold. They most certainly are the funkiest rappers ever. 5 outta 5

Esta weno

Took 41 days for hip-hop/rap to appear on the 1001 albums (still no metal). From “?” to album end, this probably deserves 5 stars. I’ll evaluate once I re-listen to this later. Yep. 5 stars

Needs more jazz flute!!

All time classic

Well I THOUGHT I knew this album. It’s an automatic 5 star. I relistened to it once, and thought yeah it’s pretty good. I relistened to it a second time with noise canceling headphones and it was like hearing the album for the very first time. I literally couldn’t stop listening to it because each song is just filled with really amazing production decisions to discover.

Super energetic with space to breath

Always enjoy listening to this. Although it’s not actually an album I go back and listen to in full very often. I think if I was nit picking I’d say the balance of skits to songs is a little off and it does run a little long. But none of that stops it from being one of the all time great albums.

You know, I could just say "It's Outkast" and not elaborate on anything, but that's not how I do things with these reviews, so I won't do that. I have to give my justification for why I feel the way I do about every album, okay? But yeah, Stankonia is fucking awesome. Outkast need no introduction. Obviously, they're masters at making iconic hip-hop hits, but their full album experiences are something else entirely. I've already reviewed their split double album, Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, but that was basically just two solo albums from Big Boi and André 3000 packaged together so it basically doesn't even count. Not that it's a bad album, but it's not what the full Outkast experience is like. This is the real deal. This is Outkast, and it's great. Stankonia is such a hard album to explain because it doesn't really do things the way that they "should" be done. I think the pacing is really interesting and different from most of its contemporaries. There are a lot of interludes, probably even too many of them, but the way they're weaved in with the songs makes Stankonia feel like a world of sorts. It helps that none of them are particularly bad interludes by interlude standards. They're probably my least favorite part of the album, but I can't help but find some level of appreciation in them. I really love this album's beats. The whole album's production veers wildly in hip-hop stylings, but remains consistently awesome throughout the 73-minute runtime. The varied influences from genres like rock and funk add to this and it's great. The rapping is just excellent too. Both André 3000 and Big Boi are great on their own, but they're even better when they play off of each other. They really highlight each other's strengths as a rapper. The features are all pretty good too. But of course, it's the songs that define the experience, and boy does Stankonia have some amazing songs. "Gasoline Dreams" is the first real song, and it's probably the best way they could've started the album off. The rock-influenced beat and politically focused lyrics set a great example for the things that make Stankonia stand out in Outkast's discography. It's great. I mentioned that Outkast have iconic hip-hop hits, and Stankonia gives us two in a row with "So Fresh, So Clean" and "Ms. Jackson." The former might have my favorite beat on the whole album, and the latter is genuinely a perfect song. I might as well talk about the album's other single now, that being "B.O.B. (Bombs Over Baghdad)." This is probably the defining song of the album for me, and it's awesome. There's so much going on that just feels unreal and I love it. André's excellent verse work, the guitar solo near the middle, the whole "power music electric revival" section at the end. There really are no other songs like this. Obviously the hits are great, but even the deep cuts are worthy of praise. "Spaghetti Junction," "Humble Mumble," "Red Velvet." These are just really neat songs. Shoutouts to the Erkyah Badu feature on "Humble Mumble." She's great. So, yeah, Stankonia is super cool. It's the kind of album that breaks the boundaries of what is expected from hip-hop and I love it for that. It's not perfect, but it is iconic, and I think there's a good reason for that. 5/5.

amazing 5/5

Being from the suburbs of Atlanta, I think I'm obligated to give this 5 stars. Really the epitome of 2000s hip-hop from the beats to the interludes to the lyricism. Some of the lyrics are a little misogynistic for my taste, but I'm blaming it on being a product of its time. Tons of bangers, truly iconic.

it's weird, it's funky, it's fresh

I think I listened to this album for the first time when I was about 5 years old, I had heard the big tracks like Ms. Jackson and So Fresh, So Clean and B.O.B around as they were the big singles, but listening through the whole album reveals so much of what made this duo so powerful. Great hooks, great features, Big Boi and Andre 3000 have such different delivery and styles but meld it together to something really fantastic. I think if you care to learn anything about 2000s music, rap, Atlanta rap, or just want something to jam to this album is a must.

Absolutely phenomenal imo, such a great variety of beats, fun interludes, lyrics I haven't even begun to dig into. Somehow I'd never properly heard B.O.B before now and it's such a good track. Need to try Aquemini and Speakerboxx/love below

all of the tracks on here go crazy hard. obviously the well known hits slap but even the other tracks id not heard before are also great. few too many skits and interludes for my liking but think this was just a thing of the time this came out so i kinda feel like its maybe unfair to knock it down from a 5 just cause of this? outkast are really consistent its pretty nuts, kinda shocked aquemini isnt on this list tbh 5

Already a favorite album. BOB, Miss Jackson, Gasoline Dreams, So Fresh So Clean are all time great songs. Only criticism is that it's a little too long.

this freakin rules

This is a special album for me. It was the first ever hip-hop album I bought...and if it weren't for this album, I may not have fallen in love with hip-hop or music as much as I did at an early age.

Absolutely loved it. I’ve heard many songs on their own, but going front to back I really enjoyed this album.

Fucking amazing

Absolute banger. Still feels fresh >25 years on.

Absolute classic in rap and funk, with a stellar side A that grooves all the way through the long tracklist - it never feels like a slog, always feels fresh and enjoyable

Amazing rap album andre carried

tHIS ALBUM WAS FANTASTIC! i HAD ONLY KNOWN OUTKAST AS A SORT OF SOULFUL GROUP THAT RAPPED VERY WELL. tHE FRENETIC ENERGY HERE WAS BOTH SURPRISING AND EXTREMELY COOL! oH SHOOT, CAPSLOCK IS ON.

I was working at a mom and pop record store when this came out. I cannot understate how many people came in to buy this album. Race, gender, and social standing had no impact. Stankonia is a perfect example of how music is a language that connects us all. This is 10/10 storytelling using rap as a medium.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS Love me some hiphop but would be the first to admit that my knowledge of it is patchy at best - a few big albums like Public Enemy, the first Wu Tang, Straight Outta Compton, then a bunch of individual tunes that caught my ear. I'd formed a picture of Outkast based on a few numbers - Hey Ya obv but I knew that wasn't typical, Ms Jackson which is on this, The Whole World. Wasn't expecting it to go so hard & be so "normal" (hard beats, minimal samples, bit of singing in the choruses). Having said that, I'm only on track 4 & haven't been listening to the words at all. It's a banger so far tho. MIDSECTION 1 Aw here's Ms Jackson tho, one of the absolute greats in any genre, no exaggeration. Hard, melancholy, genuinely moving, endlessly creative. Already know the words to this so don't have to listen to them. "You can plan a pretty picnic but you can't predict the weather" obv but also "King meets queen, then the puppy love thing / Together dream 'bout that crib with the Goodyear swing / On the oak tree, I hope we feel like this forever Forever, forever ever? Forever ever? / Forever never seems that long until you're grown / And notice that the day-by-day ruler can't be too wrong / Ms. Jackson, my intentions were good, I wish I could / Become a magician to abracadabra all the sadder / Thoughts of me, thoughts of she, thoughts of he / Asking what happened to the feeling that her and me had / I pray so much about it, need some knee pads / It happened for a reason, one can't be mad / So know this, know that everything's cool / And yes, I will be present on the first day of school and graduation" DAMN MIDSECTION 2 Yes this goes hard, enough tracks with spare beats to remind you of the old skool but enough fusion type tracks to make it cross over. Drums on BOB same as Hey Ya drums? Also lol I recognised Cypress matey on Xplosion NEXT DAY Continues to impress. With amateur muso journo hat on, they're definitely tilting at Sly Stone / George Clinton at times, but not so much that it becomes pastiche. But the audacity of it is, like so many groundbreaking records, the most striking thing. It's incredible hiphop but it's so much more as well. VERDICT Like everyone says, it's amazing. Duh.

4.5 rounded up.. enjoyed SO much

This album flows brilliantly. I can live without the skits, but the topics, politics, culture and experience that it represents are so well done. Way ahead of it's peers at the time and no wonder they became so big and influential as they did.

I'm ashamed to say I've never listened to most of these songs in full, except for "Bombs Over Baghdad." This is a banging album, which was really interesting to listen to. The features were great, the interludes were entertaining, and each song was so different that it was incredible. Fantastic album. I need the vinyl asap.

Maybe the peak of the form?

Loved all the interludes - best song was so fresh so clean

А в третьем треке вместо "I'm cool" почему-то слышится "I'm cum"...

Most stacked album ever

i luv you outkast !!!!

Great album and an all time classic hiphop / rap album! Might feel a little long with the long tracklist, but in my opinion its a strong tracklist!

A much weirder album than I could have expected. Between the massively popular radio-play singles (Ms. Jackson in particular was always destined to be certified platinum). It's a pleasure going back through the annals of this era of hip hop/rap and seeing the artists with DJs still genuinely experimenting with the weirder sounds in the early digital VSTs, giving Outkast this thick psychedelic funk sound that feels like a fresh take on the old-school pre-electro roots (this kind of new-millennium experimental thinking bridging the gap between Andre 3000 and Deltron 3000 of the same year). Could definitely have done without the interludes and comedic skits but that's kind of a lost cause with rap albums of the era. The concept can be done well enough, I guess (De La Soul's debut, 36 Chambers, some of The Chronic, some bits of Doggystyle etc.) but Outkast's Stankonia is today's dead horse. fav tracks: Bombs Over Baghdad, Ms. Jackson, Spaghetti Junction, Xplosion

Oh boy. This is not my cup of tea. I've spent about as much time as 3/4 of this album listening to rap (or hip hop). It's a garrulous, joyous explosion of talent and fun. I can't say I love it, but I see why people do. I need a few more listens to understand it.

a classic

Classic hip hop .One of many 5 star albums they made

Fantastic record

Favourite song: We Luv Deez Hoes

First rap album. So fresh so clean! Zachary’s as big of a fan

banger after banger

Gjensynsglede. I tillegg finner man andre “øreormer” som So Fresh, So Clean og We Luv Deez Hoes her. Virkelig underholdende musikk med masse personlighet. Top 3: Ms. Jackson, Stankonia (Stanklove), Humble Mumble

An iconic duo at the peak of their powers. Oozes charisma. Incredible production. Every feature works. One of my all time rap favourites

00ndate räpi üks tippe. Super loov album ja enamik sellest on kuld või vähemalt hõbe. Vaieldamatu lemmik siit on B.O.B. Ma väga tihti ei kuula räppi, aga siin on väga palju visatud sisse ka funki või r&b-d, mis mulle istub.

Standouts Gasoline Dreams So Fresh So Clean Ms. Jackson Spaghetti Junction I'll Call B4 I Cum Bombs Over Baghdad Humble Mumble Red Velvet

Rap combined with electronic. Pretty good, especially for a rap album. Bombs Over Baghdad (B.O.B) and Mrs. Jackson are quintessential tracks. (B.O.B is my favorite). Overall very chill rap. Some of the interludes sound like the Minecraft OST

One of the best concept albums of all time, andre 3000 and big boi do an excellent job of mixing in skits with legendary hits such as miss jackson and so fresh so clean, which have aged exceptionally well. They also do a great job in their antiwar messaging, which wasn't exactly popular at the turn of the century when this released 4.5/5, as there are a few tracks that could've been trimmed from this lp

The funkiest, loudest and wildest album to sooth your soul.

Great album, two popular classics right off the bat and a lotta good songs. Lyrics meant something, each song had something to say, and I didn't really mind the skits. I liked So Fresh So Clean and Ms Jackson obviously but I also liked Spaghetti Junction and B.O.B. - Bombs over Baghdad. OutKast really had a talent for making hiphop hooks. They're so fun to sing along to that you forget you're singing about a man who will never get to be a part of his kid's life because of the way his relationship with his bm fell apart and he can only watch from the sidelines as his kid grows up.

Zajebisty album!

Best rap album so far

Cançó(ns) que més m’ha agradat - Ms. Jackson Cançó(ns) que menys m’han agradat) - Snappun’ and Trappun’ Comentaris: molt guayy, un altre album amb cançons icòniques que no coneixia Nota: 7/10

-A madcap pop album. The bars go crazy but they keep the verses short and the choruses hooky. There's electro and dnb, but also a ton of turntablism and guitar solos. It's classic funk, but also at the cutting edge of trap. -Sounds somewhat dated, but also way ahead of its time for 2000. -I feel like I'm listening to a different album than a lot of other reviewers. The interludes are very short and unobtrusive. Pretty much every song bangs. And what is misogynistic about this album? I think some people hear any rapper talk about sex and assume it's misogynistic -- if that's you, you better check yourself.

This album is super Afro-futurist funky and it makes it such a fun listen. The production also seems really good.

ya me cansé de ponerle 5 estrellas a todo pero es que nomames

anything under 5 stars is criminal

The balance between creativity, humour, and social awareness makes it one of the most exciting and inventive Hip Hop albums I’ve ever heard. Favourite Songs: So Fresh, So Clean, Ms. Jackson, B.O.B., Humble Mumble. Least Favourite Songs: I'll Call Before I Come, ?.

Listened to immediately. It's a great album, with great singles, and a great feeling from start to finish. It's the Andre 3000!

Great album. OutKast best.

Banger. Track after track of methodology in greatness. Listen to it again then skip your chores and listen to it again.

I really enjoyed it. Ms Jackson is so good +1.5 stars. Still a bit too long for me so -0.5 stars. The rest of the album is also pretty good. I also enjoyed BOB, it sounds straightforward and simple by design. Almost feels like they did thousands of layers, but then decided to remove 80% of them one by one. And the album ages very well. Released in 2000, I’m very impressed. Artists in 2025 won’t reach this level at all without spending thousands of hours. And this album also fits their artistic characteristics perfectly. They’re already very good at making their own music and they featured local musicians in Alaska. They have experienced a lot and they’re still exploring in terms of music genres and wide range of subjects for lyrics. They love the girl enough but also never forgot to ask her to sign a prenup. Overall it’s a very solid album. I always like rappers who can sing. They made good music.

OutKast is almost always going to get a 5 from me. There’s just too much talent and artistry. Not to mention hits. OutKast has so many great songs it’s crazy. I saw them live and the 2hr or so concert was nothing but amazing songs everyone knew. And they brought Sleepy Brown out for a few songs and he came out with like a pillow and an old fashioned night cap à la Scrooge. Peak artistry. 3 chart toppers here and enough deep cuts to keep you vibing. Highly recommend running the gauntlet on OutKast albums if y'all haven’t.

Outkast is so freakin' awesome. this album is fun, its funky, its groovy, and its a lyrical master class. Big Boi and Andre 3000 are clearly masters of their craft. this album spawns multiple hits, and also has enough content to have thought provoking songs and challenge the status quo. absolute gold.

It gets a 5 because I'm a big fan of OutKast, otherwise I feel they have better albums. ATLiens and Aquemini should have been on the list before Stankonia (and don't get me started on Speakerboxxx/Love Below), so give those a try if you liked this.

classic. thank you for saving my life outkast

as experimental and weird as this album sounds… it is certainly rooted in an Effortless Cool

In my view one of the best hip-rap/rap artists around. This album is solid throughout and has a lot of range/influences (a lot of funk influences). Have listened before and will listen again.

The first half, I thought it was It's alright. Didn't felt like it was for me. But after B.O.B (which I thought it was great), the 2nd half really picked up, and ended up quite enjoying the album. Very goofy throughout, and something NOT to be taken seriously, but it's what end up standing out more in a long run!

One of the greatest rap albums of all time with several best rap songs ever on it.

So admittedly Outkast is a huge cultural blind spot for me (as is most stuff from 1990-early 2000), so I can kinda listen to most of their albums with fresh ears and a lot of music/cultural frames of references to compare things to. One comparison stands out - there’s a lot of Sly & The Family Stone spiritually passing through these guys imo. Even down to the flag album artwork of There’s A Riot Goin On! Stankonia must’ve sounded like the modern day experimental funk, with similar topics that range from Americas shortcomings in how it treats black people, to highly personal relationship stuff. All with some frenetic, vivid production work that's just as varied as it's subject matters. On that note, it's a bit on the nose but I think Kendrick Lamar has obviously become the next flag-bearer as an artist who creates hyper-unique works of art that speak for the Black American experience. He even has these wild vocal inflections that Andre3000 had. These were my thoughts on my first full listen (trying to avoid talking about the mega hits on here, since ive heard those) ~~ The “Kim & Cookie” interlude is very clever given the prose of the next song, that was a huge highlight for me. I know it’s one of the more noteable songs on this album, but “Bombs Over Baghdad” is really a remarkable song considering this came out before 9/11. And just the totally intricate, chaotic way the song is produced. Super impressive. I almost hear some breakbeat influence in that repetitive snare halfway through the song. That halfway point couldve been the end of the song, but it kept evolving with different instrumental passages getting cooler and cooler as it went on. “Humble Mumble” is soooo pretty. The way the instrumental is introduced really makes it feel like you’ve pulled back the leaves on some musical jungle scene. We’re Andre3000 and Erykah Badu dating by then? I’ve heard about that. Something that really moved the needle on how highly I view this record was just an interlude, “Cruisin in the ATL”. I’m a sucker for those little ‘in the car’ interludes where it’s a scene from a group of people in a car, or even better, a radio ad. Then, for it to be followed by the hypnotic, bouncy chorus of “Gangsta Shit”? I think this was around where I felt like this was a true 5/5. The 808’s could be placed right into a late 2010’s beat and go just as hard. Absolutely insane. I feel like this album is so dense that you could do separate studies on the production work and the lyrical content. I can't even speak all that much to the lyrics on first listen because as quickly as a clever bar would fly by, some new funky synth would whirl past as well. On top of it all, they still retained a deeply 'Atlanta' sound amidst all the pushing of these musical boundaries. They had me narratively in their grasp completely but the point “Toilet Tisha” ended. I am so captivated that I forgot to mention that football style "break!" interlude that has been underpinning this whole project. Very clever. It’s a 5/5 for sure. What a pleasure it is to not just listen to a 5/5 you already know, but to be introduced to a 5/5 for the first time.

A hip hop manifesto. Glorious stuff.

Why did my parents let me listen to this over and over and over again as a 6 year old? Best Song: B.O.B. Bombs Over Baghdad Rating: 9/10 Stars: 5

11/20/25. I own this record (thanks Chelsea) and have loved it ever since. A common theme for me is when music tries to push the boundaries, and Stankonia does that with its unique production and lyrics. Each song brings something different to the table.

I fucking love this album. OutKast have never missed, not once. If you don’t rate this a 5 then I hate you and we’re not friends

Nearly perfect, what a great album. The variety of texture in the production combined with a huge range of tempo and mood makes this an engaging listen all the way through. Lyrically clever and musically diverse, you can hear everything from Prince to Parliament as influences here. I don't love the interludes, but that's every hip hop album for me.

Unreal how great this album is. Only really heard two tracks when I was in high school. Never owned the album and damn I was doing myself a disservice.

I love how all over the place this album is.

Banger, never knew this album had so much depth

Didn’t realize how good OutKast really was

This album slaps Absolute icon

9/10 classic hip hop classic, possibly OutKast's best. Too bad this site doesn't have four and a half star as an voting option

This is the OutKast I remember the most, with just enough weirdness to make themselves stand out beyond their substantial lyrical and rapping prowess. Andre was beginning to show his eccentric side here but it hasn’t completely taken over and even songs that he’s the main point in, Big Boi doesn’t feel out of place. My favorite of all of it Bombs Over Baghdad because it really shows how insanely hard OutKast can go. All of their skill is on display and it’s such a driving beat. It's really all great though; it's rare I listen to an album this long without wanting to skip anything but that was the case here. Even the "Kim and Cookie" skit made me laugh the whole time. What a great use of pitch perfect harmonies telling a raunchy story.

thank god

Uhhh fucking masterpiece. Incredible stuff one of the best rap albums ever for me. Everything works and the last song is the best. Psychedelic funny poignant and funky. I adore it

Really impressed by the structure of this album. Interludes are one of my favorite characteristics of rap albums. Most music made in 2000 can be easily dated, I think Stankonia defies that beautifully

genuinely perfect work

Andre 3000 and Big Boi are hip hop geniusses that redefined the genre. So many influences flow effortlessly and there is something for everybody. Innovative and creative as hell,Funkadelic's fun is there and seriousness as well, virtuosity of Hendrix is there and so many other influences if you take a close listen. So many subjects covered and so many guest appearances. Stankonia btw is the name of their Studio. From the Intro you know where you getting at from the very beggining: vocoders, space echoes, delays and synth streches, moans and hypnotic/meditationary tabla percussion and literal verbal introduction to Stankonia.Bounce baby! Gasoline Dreams along with Khujo Goodie rapper(1/4 of Goodie Mob, cee-lo is 2/4) has an alright alright alright alright energy from the beginning. Fire heavy reverbed(on-off) rhyming in our face, ace distorted guitars, great rhythm, power. I'm Cool interlude is about a sexy freezing chick that takes cold for cool.Cinematic carpet.End of the scene.Neeext! So Fresh,So Clean fantastic rhythm bops and you're already bouncing to it. I absolutely love that they are mocking theirselves but basically anyone that is ''showing off''.Too soulful for me though, surprisingly enough not my favourite respectfully. Ms Jackson is an emblematic Outkast song, the synth riff, the bass, the piano, the snare with the reversed gated fx,and the song has only just began, the tight rhyming,a masterpiece. Snappin' & Trapping',has funky synth, male choir, dark pads, there's so much going on in this one.Along with Killer Mike, J-Sweet gives a powerful, ruff, crazy beautiful mayhem that really works for me,dead interesting and genius. DF interlude is a manic and chaotic one with heavy reverbed and delayed talking.End of the scene.Neeeext!(or should i say Break!) Spaghetti Junction reminded me a bit of the Fugees, trumpet and guitar sampling. Not my favourite but still good, tight rhyming and scratching as well here. Kim & Cookie (interlude) are announced with royal trumpetry as they spill the tea, some birds and choir momentum involved. I'll Call B4 I Cum starts off with an 80's synth drum, sexy synth and silliness that all that stays throughout the whole song.Pretty fun though.Gangsta Boo and Eco are featured in this one as well. B.O.B is a fire ''serious'' song to put us back in.The dystopian synth is amazing. The guitar and the arps really empowers the song more. The rhythm is insane, imitating war guns ends up in drum n bass fashion. As it says ''power music, electric revival''. Xplosion ft.B-Real has a powerful almost spooky vibe. Good Hair interlude has a Mariachi trumpet sampling going on.End of scene, neeeeext! We Luv Deez Hoes ft. Backbone, Big Gipp despite the title is actually referring to all the plastic that women adds in their body. Not my thing but it has something to say. Humble Mumble with my favourite Erykah Badu(remember ''You Got Me'' with Common?),has a strong tropical Caribbean Limbo rhythm and then switches to an amazing oldschool one with scratches and everything, and then all this is combined along with Erykah's heavenly voice. They are basically mixing some jungle sounds as well.Great picky guitar bonus.Genius. Drinking Again interlude is exactly what it says, again with some trumpet carpet but this time jazzy, muted one. ? Is not an interlude although it's duration is under 2 minutes,it's actually a merciless jungle song with spooky vibe and a +2 speed tight rhyming.at about 1 minute or so smartly enough and weirdly changes rhythm and you can hear some boozes pured in glasses. Red Velvet has great emotional sampling, sparse rhythmic elements and electronic structure. There is some genius vocal sampling as well and the scratching at point. The guitar addition makes it complete.Vocal and production's creative polyphony.Absolutely fire. Cruising at ATL interlude has an 80's vibe in those 20 seconds.End of scene, neeext! Gangsta's Sh*t ft. Slimm Calhoun, C-Bone, T-Mo has some genius delays in synths and guitar, they kind of inter-acting here.Quite creative and innovative as gangsta's rap can be very repetative and boring at times, but not here. Not my favourite but kudos to the production team. Toilet Tisha has creative tambourine almost xmas sleigh sound, arps, exceptional pads, vibrato synth,a complex astral funky soul number. The bass slapping is amazing as well here. Slum Beautiful ft. Cee-lo has an amazing innovative rhythm with clapping, reversed guitar extracts throughout the song, and amazing vocals from everybody.Highly creative, and truly spaced out. Pre-Nump interlude says exactly what you expect.*Wedding Bells*.End of Scene.Neeeext.. Stankonia (Stanklove) ft. Big Rube, Sleepy Brown is the best ''outro'' song to finish this incredible album.Soulful vocals and a reggae rhythm that changes into a soul, slow, sexy one from time to time, with amazing guitar that imitates synth pitches, synth nasty bass and emotional pads, fades out and comes back again slowed down half speed and more giving you the real outro. Genius album from 2 geniusses.I didn't like few songs but the majority was fire. 5/5

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This album is cooler than a polar bears toenails. It's packed with classics.

Let's go. One of the best with one of their best. Offers something different and memorable with each song. Fav tracks: Gasoline Dreams, So Fresh So Clean, Ms. Jackson, Spaghetti Junction, B.O.B., Xplosion, Humble Mumble, Slum Beautiful. Saved a song: Y RYM: Y (#350)

I’m pretty sure I already reviewed this. Whatever. It fucking rules.

As good as ever

Incredibile 🤌

Toilet tisha

I don't often listen to Hip Hop, but when I do, it should be fun, inventive, intelligent and danceable. This checks all the boxes. Knew the hits (So Fresh, So Clean, Ms. Jackson, B.O.B.), but surprised by Gasoline Dreams and Humble Mumble. "Do you wanna live or wanna exist?"

Clear creativity, musicality, and fun.

To borrow a phrase, this is a kick-ass, fun-as-hell work of staggering genius. It's not a perfect album, but the highs are about as high as they can possibly get. In fact, It's pretty amazing how far away from being a perfect album this is given that it is, simultaneously, one of the very best albums ever made. Several duds on here, several weak features, plenty of stupid skits, but the good shit is SO good it overwhelms everything else. I count, even trying to be selective, seven elite level bangers ("Gasoline Dreams" "So Fresh, So Clean" "Ms. Jackson" "Spaghetti Junction" "B.O.B." "Xplosion" "Red Velvet"). Also hard to argue with Pitchfork dubbing "B.O.B." the song of the millennium (thus far). Most of the other deep tracks are good, or at least tolerable, but it's got some big misses ("Toilet Tisha" "We Luv Deez Hoez") and mostly forgettable or bad skits (I'll exempt "Drinkin' Again," which I have a soft spot for as well as "Cruisin' in the ATL"). I think we're past the point where people slag on Big Boi for the sin of simply not being Andre 3000, even though Andre is literally the greatest to ever do it. This sells Daddy Fat Sacks so far short. He's every bit the legend, untouchable, God-Tier MC. Collectively, OutKast is the GOAT for me. Recognizing the unique chemistry of the two of them as MCs here and everywhere (except Speakerboxx/Love Below, obviously), the amazing production, and the diversity of sounds, topics, and moods, this might, might be their best work. But that's almost like picking a favorite kid. Power. Music. Electric revival.

Love this album

Very very good

How have I never listened to this album. Pretty great. Need on vinyl.

Fireee Best one so far I’m sorry miss jackson

honestly such a vibe. teacher the kids sex ed!

Some absolute classics. Some hidden gems if you've only been exposed to the singles. Only a couple skips. I wish more albums on the list could be like this one - a fantastic representation of the scope of an artists' sound across the spectrum of their work - before and after. This is quintessential Outkast.

What a wild, perfect ride. Andre and Big Boi push each others abilities, and it feels like stepping into a kaleidoscope of color, sound, and ideas. The energy is ridiculous. It’s inventive and chaotic. Not many records are this ambitious and this much fun at the same time. Spins: 2 Playlist Additions: - Gasoline Dreams - So Fresh, So Clean - Ms. Jackson - B.O.B. - Bombs Over Baghdad - We Luv Deez Hoez (feat. Backbone & Big Gipp)

fwuunki guys smash it

Grew up on this album. I probably revisit this at least once a year. 10/10

if big boi got hair, good album y'got there if big boi be shorn, that album be borin'

oh FUCK yes, love OutKast

Very long but really unique!

I mean, this is my favorite album of all time, so...

One of the greatest!!

Tem skits demais, chegam a um terço do disco, o que se torna um pouco cansativo pra mim, embora sejam boas skits. No mais, maravilhoso

The only downside of relistening to this album is that after you’re done you have to go listen to maggot brain again, and then of course that leads to awaken my love and then you’re listening to altiens, then mothership, and honestly after that you’ve made absolutely no progress at work whatsoever.

Slightly too bloated but the highs are so high that it still gets a 5 for me.

Loved it

oh, outcast, you're probably one of the most stylish hip hop groups from the 2000s. there's at least several songs in here that are top 20 chart toppers, so already i know i'm in for a treat. absurdly good rap songs that have beats so good you'd wonder how these producers would fare making electronic dance or techno music. andré 3000 adding more musical and sung elements to his rhymes adds to the engagement... and with a few special guests to boot, there's really no misses in this entire cd. i'm VERY impressed, i can actually see myself listening to this album again and again and again on the same day.

Great album. One of the best hip-hop/rap albums out there. They touch different styles in music and it really shows you some depth when the words make your mind race with the beat of the body.

My first OutKast album, not the best but will always have a top place in my heart

Love this record! What a great pair. Banger after banger. Fun lyrics, thoughtful lyrics, soulful lyrics, devastating lyrics, they run the gamut. Very interesting samples and production choices as well! Easy 5.

Super Dope

I LOVE OUTKAST BITCHESZSS

Banger

No words, just Andre 3000

B.O.B. is my 90 in a 30

This was a really good album. It had great vibes and was the perfect start to my 1001 albums. 10/10

Yay! Stankonia!

fucking incredible holy shit

The whole album has you bopping.

hard to find any faults with this album except that it's kind of long? there's enough material for 2 pretzel logics in here.

10/10 their best album fight me

Maybe not their best album, but it's still a classic.

the vibes i got were magnifecent

5 stars, I hope you're enjoying life wherever you are rn sir

Top 8.9

Beautiful STANK

Bias again, used to practice drumkit to this album

Really good album, Andre and bigboi are 2 of the best to do it, flows that are still really fresh and some of the biggest songs in rap are from this album

Love this album

A question that nobody has ever asked is "What's the hip-hop version of The Beatles' White Album?" OutKast was already genre bending their music along with making a name for themselves by helping, and basically singlehandedly put southern hip-hop in the mainstream. Let's be honest with ourselves, you can say almost exactly the same thing as The Beatles and the music they made during that time. So, with that being said, what is their White Album? A critical commercial success that's so weird and different and an album that has a lot of filler songs and yet these filler songs go well with each song that plays before and after them? It's this. It's Stankonia.

MASTERPIECE. ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE. FIRST TIME I LISTENED TO THIS ALBUM AND 🄸 🅆🄰🅂 🄰🄱🅂🄾🄻🅄🅃🄴🄻🅈 🄱🄻🄾🅆🄽 🄰🅆🄰🅈 ALL THE SONGS N THE INTERLUDES N SKIT N EVERYTHINGGG I SPENT OVER AN HR TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT MY FAVES WERE TO WRITE THEM HERE. I HAD TO GIVE UP I KEPT JS PUTTING ALL OF THEM 😭😭😭 PS. BREAK!!!!

Another personal favourite here!

If there ever existed a perfect album this would be the one.

Remains one of the greatest hip hop albums of all time (with the caveat that I have no business claiming to be able to identify the greatest hip hop albums of all time)

Outkast is wonderful. I had only heard a couple songs on this album before today, but I loved just about every one. There were a lot more guest artists than I expected, but overall it was great. Great beats, great rhymes, great stories, very cool album with great re-listenability. I listened to it twice -- five stars.

I absolutely loved this album, particularly the first half of it. It was fun and catchy. I had heard several of these songs before, but never knew it was from this group. I love their stuff though, and I'll definitely listen to these songs again!

Whilst many might think of The Love Below/Speakerboxxx when it comes to Outkast, this is by far and away their best work. Each track hits. Bombs over Baghdad is a masterpiece. Lots of the features being local artists and it being made in their home town, I think they must have really just hit a perfect moment as artists. Was one of my favourite albums as a teenager and was lovely to revisit today!

Embarrassingly, this was the first time I have ever sat and listened to an OutKast album front to back. Coming in at over an hour long (usually enough to put me off anything), Stankonia is a massive album full of beats big and small, insanely clean and at times experimental production, a metric tonne of solid gold bars, and some of the catchiest hooks ever laid down on wax. It covers so many bases in its run time without ever overstaying its welcome, honestly dare I say a masterpiece of an album. If I had to make one criticism, I don't think the interludes bring enough to the table, but they also don't stick around long enough to take anything away and do provide a breather between an album full of insanely well crafted songs. This is an easy 5 and I cannot believe I have lived for nearly 30 years without this album in my life. Favourites - Gasoline Dreams, So Fresh So Clean, Ms. Jackson, I’ll Call B4 I Cum, B.O.B., We Luv Deez Hoez, Humble Mumble, Red Velvet

Perfection

Another classic, high-art hip-hop at its finest ️‍🔥

Repeat listen

Wow! I’ve obviously heard of this being one of the best hip hop records of all time but I was a bit skeptical after only being subject to speakerboxx/the love below in which I believed to be only really decent and too long, this though I can safely say is miles better. The variation in music genres all mixed together just works so well, there’s jungle, funk, hip hop, rave music and even gospel I think in some parts and both Andre and Big Boi perform amazingly with some of the best flows I’ve heard especially on songs like B.O.B (which was actually insane), the beats aswell were great in every song (Barr maybe one or two of which I wasn’t the biggest fan of). The album also starts in an amazing way with gasoline dreams which instantly showcases the high energy levels of the album and is one of my favourites especially with the wah guitar. I also really appreciate the album separates the skits from the actual songs, although I still don’t really see the need for skits at all, at least they’re short though and some of them are pretty funny. The context of this album is really cool, basically gathering musicians from around there Stankonia studio (which worked a charm cause the features here are great), they were also influenced by the local music scene with rave music and jungle which is clear in some of the songs (some of the drum samples especially and obviously B.O.B). Record scratching aswell, always a win for me. Favourites: all but I’ll call before I come and the last song (too long and a bit boring to be honest. Overall, 9/10.

Saved my Monday morning. 3000 is one of the best to ever do it, stank you very much

i like so fresh so clean the most out of all of them and cool

One of the best Rap Albums of the 2000s

A transcendent, weird, unrepeatable classic. While the sheer sprawl of it means it’s not always coherent, and it could have done with a twenty minute chop, it’s more daring than most 90s rap outfits. Their chemistry is undeniable, and they feel more in sync here than they do on (the two separate albums of) the classic Speakerboxx/The Love Below. The album is more ragged and rock heavy than their follow up, which is polished - this is the Revolver to Speakerboxx's Sgt Pepper.

Gran álbum, uno de los mejores en el hip-hop, tiene realmente de todo y un dúo que pocas veces había escuchado. Lo siento señora Jackson uuuh...

An album full of fun bangers. It's playful throughout while dishing out solid, head-bobbing rap.

- Shit was already incredible but im getting more out of it on this listen - i will always ride for the south

Classic

Incredible hip-hop album.

Funny and funky

Some great songs on here, mad I hadn’t fully listened to this album yet. 5/5!

This album STILL sounds like the future.

one of the best OAT

Certainly the best album in the history of Stankonia. The versatility, and production is in a league of its own, and this is one of my favorite Hip-Hop albums of all time. Favorite Track: "B.O.B.(Bombs Over Baghdad)".

Arguably best hip hop album

Listening to ATLiens and Aquemini too. Been wanting listen to them for a while. Havent listened to much hip hop in while.

Only one of the Greatest albums ever, & rightly included. OutKast never put out a bad album, and here they're at the height of their power. Every song is a banger, and the skits are amusing without derailing the album's momentum. Crazy to think I've kept this in regular rotation now for 25 years, and you can bet it'll stay there for at least that many more.

God damn slap machine is what it is

First of all, these men look sooo beautiful on the cover. Then the black and white flag behind them is a clear sign that politics are going to feature heavily. And the beautiful cover is an accurate prediction of what comes from the music. The skit interludes are a bit distracting but the music is so excellent that it overshadows the silliness of the skits. So Fresh, So Clean is a true representation of its namesake. Ms. Jackson is absolutely iconic and such a human story presented alongside some killer beats and licks. Only negative I have to say about that song is the genuine misogynist lyrics in the bridge (the rest of the song is surprisingly free of misogyny considering the subject matter). Not into the corny trap beat in Snappin n Trappin. Love the Killer Mike verses, his voice and flow are perfect fits for this album, wish I could hear him do a less corny song. The synth lick is also gross (derogatory). It's all good though because it comes right back in Spaghetti Junction. The flows are so punchy, they pull the best styles and beats from older skool rap and modernize them in a way that seamlessly fits the style. I'll Call B4 I Cum is a weird song lyrically, only because it's so unusual to see the hip hop flavour of sex music be actually feminist. Some great flows from Outkast and then lines from two female rappers is a cherry on top. then to go straight from the laid back loving of I'll Call right into the frantic energy of B.O.B. is whiplash but keeps your attention. I love the tone of the synth in B.O.B., I hear that tone a lot in Tobacco/Black Moth Super Rainbow sound and I love it. Then Xplosion is such an entrancing mix of unsettling, powerful, and that flavour of can't-look-away-from-the-train-wreck attraction. Love this coming right before the killer combo of Outkast Octane Energy with Erykah's smooth vibey style in Humble Mumble. A mid-song beat switchup will always tickle my brain. This is my first time actually paying attention to the lyrics though, and I'm so glad I did, they're beautifully heartbreaking in their bullseye politic. Gangsta Sh*t is less interesting to me overall though I love the echo-y guitar licks accompanying the flows. Toilet Trisha is devastating. Stankonia is just plain weird and is one of the album's misses in my opinion, though the gospel backing vocs kind of make up for it. The slowed-down ending is hilarious and almost redeems the rest of the song, makes me wonder if the whole thing was meant to be silly. Overall an excellent album that I'm very happy I heard before I died. I'm a longtime lover of Andre 3000 and this pairing is stellar, and the collabs they do over the course of the album are bespoke buttery smooth.

A tour de force of hip hop. One of the greatest of all time, timeless.

Don’t think I ever appreciated how insanely iconic the production/beats on this album is. “Let bygones be bygones, you can go ahead and get the hell on” - poetry Spaghetti Junction 😩 Need to look into Gangsta Boo

Incredible album from start to finish. An all-time classic. 10/10.

Classic

Bonafide classic and still the best rap album of this century, Outkast at the absolute peak of their powers, putting a little stank on ya.

when this album dropped, i saw the video for Bombs Over Baghdad and it was the coolest thing i’d ever seen

And epic addition to the hip hop category, bringing an instrumental flavour relatively unheard from the south. I like it a lot

Best hip hop duo

Fucking amazing. It is a classic but i am glad i listened to everything ... i learned some new good ones

Really enjoyed this one, has some hits and a few that I found interesting. Think overall I would rate the actual music a 4 but I don’t think I’ve heard an album similar to this in terms of flow and structure; I loved the interlude’s and felt they improved the 75mins as it breaks the album up better. So 5 stars it is.

peak music

Album is fire and still awesome

It's fricking awesome

Really Good. Lots of classics I had heard but mostly unfamiliar to me. I can see how this is such an influential album. So many incredible beats and the flow is just iconic. It was awkward listening to some of it though while driving as it sounds… intimate.

Gasoline Dreams - 5/5 So Fresh, So Clean - 5/5 Ms. Jackson - 5/5 Snappin' & Trappin' - 5/5 Spaghetti Junction - 4/5 I'll Call B4 I Cum - 2/5 B.O.B. - Bombs Over Baghdad - 5/5 Xplosion - 5/5 We Luv Deez Hoez - 5/5 Humble Mumble - 5/5 Red Velvet - 5/5 Gangsta Sh*t - 5/5 Toilet Tisha - 4/5 Slum Beautiful - 3/5 Stankonia (Stanklove) - 4/5 Average score: 4.5/5 (rounding up, excludes interludes) yeah i could do without all these damn interludes, hate when artists do this shit. 1-2 in an album is okay, but to use like 900 interludes as filler for their album is kinda ridiculous. just a small pet peeve of mine in albums aside from that, i enjoyed this a lot actually (and i'm not even the biggest hip-hop fan). i've yet to listen to the rest of their discography in full, but if their other albums are as good as this then i'm in for a treat

Amazing just amazing Vibes - impeccable, very energetic, love the bit Fav song - So Fresh, So Clean 5/5

REAL SHIT

I can’t rate this 4.5, so it was ultimately Kim & Cookie, Bombs Over Baghdad, Gangsta Shit, and the unexpected features of Killer Mike, Gangsta Boo, and Erykah Badu that ultimately pushed this to 5 stars for me.

Love this album! OutKast is one of the greats. So many favourites. Childhood favourite being “Ms. Jackson”, and “So Fresh, So Clean”, and “B.O.B”. Discovered “Stankonia (Stanklove)” in my 20s and what a time that was with that track. Absolutely psychedelic and hypnotic. Probably still my favourite track to date. Been enjoying the interludes and skits, really miss when hip hop albums did that. New favourites include “We Luv Deez Hoes”, “I’ll Call B4 I Cum”, “Gangsta Sh*t”

I would consider myself a fan of the band. These two artists plus their friends and associates create a really interesting and deep mix of samples, original playing, rapping and singing. They are heroes in Atlanta, and rightfully so. I am torn between giving this four stars and five stars. Ultimately I gave it five stars because it's the best example of modern hip hop in the 1001 so far, and I'm over 700 in. (Public Enemy is the best example of old school hip hop so far.)

Hip hop legends near their peak.

I like this

A masterpiece from a pair of absolute geniuses. ATL at its finest, though it's probably only my favourite album by them about 25% of the time depending on my mood.

Bromigo

This album is unbelievable. It’s a nearly no skip album and it has a ton of tracks. It also has a ton of interludes and they are not all super memorable, but I really loved this album. It’s crazy funky and that’s pretty consistent throughout the album. The album also has a couple underrated gems like “snappin & trappin”, “gansta sh*t”, and “red velvet”. This is a must listen album for sure.

Love it! Loong album

Classic. Not the first time I’ve heard it by a long shot. It IS the first time I’ve listened to it in its entirety. Abstract in a way only OutKast could pull off. 5 stars as soon as I seen what album it was in the morning.

Brilliant on the first listen and rewards multiple listens after that. Admittedly a few lyrics on BOB and WLDH probably raise an eyebrow now, but the sheer ingenuity, range of ideas and technical capability is unparalleled. I've had a few disappointing hip hop LPs so far, but this is damn near perfect.

Great, 9/10, felt so true to ATL and would listen again. A few songs can only be listened to in the context of the album though

Certified Classic. Great album, not even my favorite Outkast album, but its so good.

So so good! Incredible production! Everything in excess and it all works!

So much energy, so many hits!

There was a time when Southern rap ruled the radio, and Stankonia was the soundtrack. OutKast didn’t just drop hits — they changed the whole vibe of rap in the late 90s and early 2000s. This album is loud, weird, smart, and way ahead of its time. It’s peak OutKast, and it still sounds just as good now. There are a bunch of guest features throughout the album, and every one of them fits right in. No one steals the spotlight from André 3000 and Big Boi, though. They’re both locked in, trading wild flows and clever lines like it’s effortless. “Gasoline Dreams” kicks things off with a ton of energy. “Ms. Jackson” is the classic — emotional and catchy, and somehow still not overplayed. “So Fresh, So Clean” is pure cool, and “B.O.B.” is just insane. That beat is lightning fast and still gets me hyped. I used to jam out to it playing Mat Hoffman’s Pro BMX on my PlayStation, and it made both the song and the game even better. Favorite song: BOB

What a great album. I LOVED Bombs Over Baghdad and So Fresh and so Clean back in the day. But I don't think I'd ever listened to the whole album. Also loved Humble Mumble with Erika Badu. I am very likely to re-listen to this.

Bombs Over Baghdad alone is a 50-star song, so even if the rest of the album sounded like RHCP's "Californication," this would still be an easy 5 stars.

An all time classic

Usually I dock a star for albums over an hour, but this was great. Complex, fun, deep, nostalgic.

Found the exception to my “no skits” crusade and it’s Andre 3000’s “I stank I can, I stank I can” bit

banger

This is almost too fly for this white guy. Love it!

Perfect album.

Альбом - бомба, есть несколько моих самых любимых треков

the best rap album of all time. unparalleled.

One of my top 10 albums. Part nostalgia, part unique sound, and part creativity. Love ❤️

BREAK! I feel like I've been giving out 5s like its nothing but I just love music and THIS right here is music. Stankonia is one of the defining hip hop albums of the 2000s, this thing has classic written all over it. It's got legendary singles such as "B.O.B.", "So Fresh, So Clean" and most of all "Ms. Jackson". These are all amazing and a lot of the B-sides are really great too. Outkast has a handful of great albums, but this is definitely my favorite. If you don't like this album I can't imagine you're that fun to be around. Favorite track: B.O.B. 4.5/5

Feels like the opposite of Black Crowes. Inventive, diverse, original, fun, dynamic, unpredictable. Absolute masterpiece from one of the greatest music acts there has ever been. Competing with To Pimp a Butterfly and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy to be the best hip hop album of this century.

Top marks

This was all the rage when I was in High School. I knew the hits well, but had never given the whole thing a proper listen. It’s everything one could want in hip hop. Creative beats, great flow and poignant lyrics (though occasionally a bit too horny).

Vrhunac opusa. B. O. B mi je jedna od omiljenih pjesama milenija

This album takes me back to early 2000s and I got a strong association with Lord Willin coz I was listening to that at the same time. I find it really hard to choose a best track but B.O.B and Gasoline Dreams are contenders. I’ll Call B4 I Cum is basically about you, I just didn’t know that at the time 😉
