Short and sweet. 8
Short album that gets to the point. Great road trip jam. Easy to groove to.
great classic rock
Cant go wrong with Creedence. Pretty solid album and very listenable.
What I think of when I think classic rock.
Can't go wrong with CCR. Good album.
My childhood right here!
A classic! Loved hearing this one again
Good "Classic Rock" album.
Their best album
it was alright
Quite good, I can see why its on this list but it didn't blow my mind. still very good though, I really enjoyed "Can't stand the rain."
I knew some of them, he's good.
Again, revealing my general proclivities in music (not punk) I am all over this. I had this on a cheap department store cassette tape as a teen and played it until it fell apart.
Not the best CCR album (that would be Cosmo's Factory) but it's not far from it. Great record.
A classic album. You have to wonder what more they might have done had they not disbanded so early on.
Essential. Perfect for sunny summer mornings.
Really solid bluegrass album.
Likely the MOST influential rock band of the late 60's. Great album.
WAY more ccr hits than I thought
Awesome album
I've liked some of the other music that I've heard from Jesus and Mary Chain, but this left me a little flat. I'm not sure what it was, but it didn't really grab me this time 3/5
Another classic from them tons of great songs!!
Not their best work but still a classic in my book
Can never say no to a CCR record. The fact that they were able to record so many classics in such a short amount of time is staggering, especially when you consider Fogerty was doing all of the writing. Favorite tracks: "Lodi", "Commotion"
8/10
Classic Creedence, great guitars throughout, love the instrumental tracks, who doesn't love bad moon rising?
I’ve got a soft spot for good folksy Country tunes. Standout Tracks: Tombstone Shadow, Bad Moon Rising, Lodi, Sinister Purpose
Good stuff, enjoyed this. I would pick this up if I saw it at a record store.
hi jessica, i hope ur doing good!<3
Absolutely classic band that I have a lot of nostalgia tied to. I’ve been listening to CCR for years but never got around to listening to an album. Green River is a super accessible and fun classic rock/folk album. I enjoyed it although I definitely feel like I would need more time with the album. Mainly to get a better understanding of the songs that aren’t stand out hits that I’ve listened to and know literally all my life (Green River, and Bad Moon Rising). The songs that I wasn’t as familiar with upon first listen seemed a little flat compared to the ones I knew. Overall still a very enjoyable ,short, and accessible album with the occasional surprise I wasn’t expecting! I’ll definitely be coming back to the Green River every once and awhile.
Some serious firepower on this one
Creedence week? Fear overload. I am not enjoying this as much as I did Bayou Country. It has its moments, and Lodi is epochal. Bad Moon kind of bores me and a couple others left me dulled.
Another dubious honour of the "why is this here" award. Everything great about CCR is at a bare simmer here.
it wasn't bad at all and tombstone shadow & bad moon rising were my favourites but i wouldn't necessarily listen to it in my free time.
First time listening to CCR outside of Fortunate Son -- I dig most of what this record was doing. Don't know that I'll go out and buy their complete discography, but I'm sure I'll check out some of their other material at some point. Standouts: Bad Moon Rising, Lodi
Bad moon rising is a classic, pretty good
Not bad! I was expecting a bunch of over pronounced singing, like he does on “Heyrd it through the grapevine” but it was all just good, clean rock.
Great music, but not for me. Maybe would listen to some on a road trip.
Good stuff, classic stuff. Not amazing stuff, but good stuff.
I feel like I having nothing bad to say about this album, but it didn’t really stand out to me either. Maybe with a few listens it’ll grow on me, but I thought it was just fine.
Bad moon rising is great. I think there was one other classic song on hear. The rest was southern flair of rock I'd expect from CCR, but it didn't hit me the same way Cosmo's factory did
Four dudes in a room, sweating, smoking, slinging notes vaguely practiced, with assured melodies, cocksman vocals, and lyrics about death and memory. Won't change your life, but apt company if you're on the move and hot. "Wrote a Song For Everyone," "Bad Moon Rising," and "Lodi" are all excellent.
short, sweet, and to the point. Some good folk/rock music.
Fun, lighthearted and is reminiscent of what my idealized version of the 70s sounds like. Broken Spoke Shuffle is the surprise for me here. Wildly fun song. Idk if I'm being too generous but this is also an album i have a hard time giving a 3/5 to so I'll give it a 4. Its real cool. Fav tracks: Broken Spoke Shuffle, Green River, Glory Be, Bad Moon Rising.
A good background playlist, and that’s it!
When I was 10 I thought CCR were the greatest band in the world. Listening to them now, I think they sound like a good school band playing Blues Rock….
Songs sound the same lowkey, still bangers
Heard of band, never listened to album. Love the guitar on green river. Good vocals too. Commotion is another really cool song. Same good elements. Catchy chorus, simple but effective guitar. Cool harmonica with the guitar solo. Love the guitar riff on tombstone shadow. Production much better on this one, vocals were a little too quiet for the first couple songs. I just love early electric guitar songs. Wrote a song for everyone is really well written but too slow for me. Nothing special with the production. Fine song. Just an OK solo too. Underwhelming. Bad moon rising is an all timer. Commercial song. Radio song. Just a banger. Lasts the test of time. Just great songwriting. Hard to follow that up but Lodi is really good too. Better production on this one. Really good songwriting again. Nice change of pace with cross tie walker. This is a classic 70s southern rock song. Can’t help but tap your foot along to this one. Great guitar and songwriting again on sinister purpose. I want more of it. The outro is so good. This really should’ve been the last song. Night time is fine. Production is very 60s/70s. Good vocals/lyrics again. Good guitar solo too. Just wish they flipped the order of the last two songs. This probably gets a 4 if they did. But they didn’t. Fun album. 3.4/5 stars.
Pretty good
lately i've come to realize that i'm not a huge fan of the blues and its genres adjacent, so while this album wasn't bad, it wasn't my cuppa. nevertheless it definitely did have its highlights. wrote a song for everyone immediately stood out to me as the best song on the album by far. it's quite beautiful and i think i'll be coming back to listen to it pretty often. that followed shortly after by lodi definitely made me enjoy the album a little more. favorite track: wrote a song for everyone
boring
Although it obviously inspired both the first GRUNGE band and Gary Ridgeway, the Green River Killer, I quite enjoyed this. 3 This is excellent and I have all the more admiration for CCR because they often steer so perilously close to being barroom boring. When Tombstone Shadow’s guitar solo squats like a toad on a single wobbly note over and over again at 2 minutes I felt like applauding. It is an invitation to reflect on how little and simultaneously how much CCR have done in keeping the listener hooked for two full minutes through the most procedural of Blues progressions. Cross-Tie Walker kids you for a minute that it is going to be a witless retread of Bad Moon Rising, then that brilliant little bass run-down with comic cymbals at the end appears and becomes definitive. If the oppressive spectre of something like Neil Young is briefly summoned by the folk rock of Wrote a Song… or Lodi, it is banished by the subtleties and economy of the arrangements - even at their driest CCR are closer to the elegant lightness of The Kinks than to Young. After a few hundred albums I would rank CCR (Bayou Country and now this) among my favourite discoveries. John Fogerty is wonderful. 3.5/5
Another album from the dad-rock genre. With this band, I have a strong association with a university professor of mine — he had some Creedence song as his ringtone and would always wait for the chorus to kick in. The album is okay
3.5
It doesn’t stir any emotions. Music may be nice but wasn’t “woah significant”
Sinister purpose was good
Good album from CCR
I think they should've combined this and Bayou Country (minus the lamer tracks) into one album instead of releasing them both in the same year
It really says something about an album when you can't tell which songs are the singles, and I don't mean that in a good way. Still though, it wasn't that bad and I enjoyed the guitar bits
I never know how I feel about CCR. I don't actively dislike their stuff but very little of it actually does anything for me. Bad Moon Rising features on this album and that immediately elevates it, but other tracks have already fallen out of the recesses of my brain. As a positive, it's only a 30ish minute listen. As a negative, I still found myself clock-watching when I was surprised it was still going.
Pretty fun but I'm not sure it will stay with me for long
Good songwriting and no-nonse rock ‘n’ roll.
it's fine! the only song i really listen to from this is "bad moon rising" but the rest is pleasant enough as well.
Decent enough - bad noon on the rise clear standout
It’s alright… I’ve heard the songs before. Not a huge fan, but I don’t really dislike it. Just kinda makes me feel like I should be hanging out in Branson or something.
I like CCR but Cosmo's Factory to me stands head and shoulders over everything else I've heard. Maybe one day that will change.
Oh well CCR, never understood the very American hype about CCR. Yes they have some songs which are great, but also it is not ground breaking stuff.
Good album! Very rocky but chilled liked it!
Solid ass CCR album, no annoying tracks, bad moon rising is a classic, and it was cool to hear a couple live versions at the end.
CCR was so locked in during this stretch: driving upbeat swamp jams but spooky weird apocalyptic lyrics. There is a limit to how much CCR I can take, but the record is tight, no filler, and next thing I knew I wanted to hear 'Song for Everyone' again.
CCR putting their trademark spin on blues rock. Solid throughout, if not transcendent.
I like the instrumentation, I enjoyed Lodi, Bad Moon Rising and Green River. Not a fan of Wrote A Song For Everyone. But the rest of the album was alright
they're fine Would I listen again: give me a greatest hits Deserves to be on this list: eh 3.3
There’s just something about John Fogerty’s voice, gotta be in a mood to listen to this stuff, but it hits perfectly during it
The Night Time Is The Right Time (https://music.yandex.ru/album/8268774/track/4836)
Classic album, but does not have the depth im looking for.
I loveeeee Creedance but I'm not IN LOVEEEE with this album. Of course Bad Moon Rising is just an absolute classic and such a feel good hit but If I'm rating the album on it's entirety then no this is not my favourite album and lacks a bit of flavour. I love you CCR I know you've got better
Every time I hear these boys, I have trouble believing they're not from Louisiana or Mississippi or Alabama or some such place.
This album gave me Vietnam flashbacks. I was born ~15 years after the war. In Europe.
Enjoyed this more than I thought I would! If I had to indulge in some 60s Redneck Rock this would certainly be up there in my list of choices. Swamp Rock deserves a modern comeback.
Every song just like the last. Just never got these guys. I so want to like them and so don’t.
good. i was waiting for it to be great; didn't follow through unfortunately.
paradigmatic american music, very direct and clear blues sound without too much artifice or pretension the vocal performance doesnt quite excite me and the sense of urgency created by such short and concise tracks is both their greatest strength and their biggest limitation
Bonus points for a short album in this sea of absolute behemoths.
Not their best album, but it's still better than a lot of the albums I've listened to so far.
Decent rock album
No fav song
A slice of middle America. Has aged better than i expected.
100% pure unstoppable dad rock
Green River: 3.5/5 Favorite: Bad Moon Rising Least favorite: The night time is the right time
CCR is good when I'm feeling like it, I wasn't feeling like it...
Perfectly fine faux-Southern rock. You can tell they're posers because it all lacks a certain scumbaggery (which I do like in the right doses) in the vocal and the instrumental. That's probably how they managed to get so big. Wrote a Song for Everyone feels especially egregiously affected.
1969 but it is all right.
CCR is an exemplar of southern rock. Bad Moon Rising and Lodi are radio staples. This may partially explain why I’m a little bored with them, though other radio hit makers I still love. The styling of the lead singer is the main draw and, to a lesser extent, the songwriting. The production is good enough to be listenable, which is more than can be said for plenty of 60s and 70s rock albums. The musicians are solid, but there are no Jimi Hendrixes here. I liked hearing the bonus superstition song in Sinister Purpose and the double lead guitar moment in Tombstone Shadow. I also enjoyed the shift to a Motown cover on The Night Time is the Right Time. I don’t hate it. I wouldn’t need it in my collection to on though.
Definitely not one of my favourite bands, but it was good
now when one of the three songs i've heard before comes on at a bar i can smugly think to myself "ah, creedence clearwater revival." fav: commotion
It's fine album, very well made and incredible performances. Nothing stood out however.
Country shit, pleasebt guitar, kinda like gorrilaz stuff, comfort listen(thats a thing?), inoffensive pleasentness, could go to sleep with it on.
Lite för tråkigt
On the previous Creedence Clearwater Revival album I said that they had a particular sound, and that as a result, I kept expecting every song to turn into Bad Moon Rising, yet it never did. I was in luck this time! I feel the same as on the previous album. It's perfectly enjoyable as background music, I wouldn't turn it off, but I'm not going to seek it out. It's probably a 2.5/5 but I actually did like it enough to not get a 2, so: 3/5
Bad Moon Rising is kinda the song keeping this album afloat. Everything else kinda sounds the same.
hligrsjlkgsehigshkdgshkgdshksdhksgdhksdghkbsgksdgjgsdhgsdjkgsjdgshkdsgjdsgjgsdhjdsgjhksdghjsdghjsdghdjghdgjhgjhdjhgdhjgdhjghgdh eheh ehejhe eheh] eheh eheh eh ehn eh eh Pretty average album classic old people not that its bad its great but im not 60 years old driving down the beach with my 20 year old son
En del bangers och sen en del same same
Not a lot of great tracks here, but it does have the legendary 'Bad Moon Rising', along with a couple of other bangers in 'The Night Time Is The Right Time', as well as 'Green River' and 'Wrote a Song for Everyone'. Ultimately, it's probably not the best Creedence album, but it holds up fairly well after all these years.
plenty to like about this tight little record! the band is unfussy and very tight, a clear product of John Fogerty's infamous work ethic, and Side B in particular has some wonderful songs. the country-goth workouts of Bad Moon Rising and Sinister Presence have more than a little to do with heavier bands from Maiden to Suicide, and Fogerty's plaintive vocal on Lodi is just lovely. they lose me a bit in the bluesier numbers, which blend together a bit and aren't helped by Fogerty's hillbilly yowl seeming a bit put-on. it's fun to hear a full statement from a band i only know from compilations and movie soundtracks - can't say any of it surprised me, but their ubiquity certainly makes sense!
it was a slow listen at the beginning and i wasn’t really as hooked to. the music as much as i thought i would be but around the last few songs it really grabbed my attention and i enjoyed it a lot. overall i feel this is a decent album and i will continue to listen to it go further appreciate its content.
Run-of-the-mill Woodstock rock, this time with amazing vocals. The rest is pretty basic, though. Favorite Track: Bad Moon Rising - It always feels odd, but not bad, whenever a song I listen to regularly comes up on one of these albums.
Honestly find this one pretty bland unfortunately. CCR has much superior work in my eyes.
A good old country album, not so memorable 3/5
I used to say I hate CCR. But I fuck with this heavy.
This album is a little one trick pony for me, but it's a good trick. Fogerty's guitar work is some hot stuff from a blues perspective. "Sinister Purpose" has a bit of a Black Sabbath N.I.B. vibe.
I like some of the jam band / solo moments but the way some of the compositions are strung together rubs me the wrong way. Glad I listened to this one for its importance and found a couple cool songs, but probably won't revisit the entire album soon
A noce record coming from a genre I don't particularly enjoy. It's well put together for sure, but it doesn't resonate with me. Enjoyable.
Alright. 3. Not my kind of music but overall pleasant album
i'll never forget my friend spiderman getting mad i bought a cover / 5
I liked it, it'll get a 3
Listens: 3 Standout Tracks: Commotion, Bad Moon Rising, Sinister Purpose Second CCR album. I don't... um... Okay; It's two album so far that I've listened to, and they total barely an hour worth of music. I gave Bayou Country a 4. That was album 61/1089 for me. This is album 398/1089. I still have no strong objections against this music - Swamp Rock I read one reviewer call it - I just can't give this another 4. It's all too similar sounding. Individual songs are good. CCR in small doses is good. Compared to what this album could be, 29 minutes might very well be considered a small dose. I could not listen to this for hours on end, and so by the third full play, I want to turn it off. Again, not because its bad, but there's almost no identity to individual songs.
Prima album
Ok, but it all sounds like Bad Moon Rising
this album it’s not really my type of music, but it’s not bad
legalzinho
short and sweet and to the point. solid album
I hated John fogherty and used to hear this shit every where when I was younger. I was prepared to give this a 2 at best but enough time has passed so we’re getting a 3
Makes me imagine a 1969 summer backed by blues scales. Probably cooking meth #merica #folk
Fine I want to like it more than I do though.
My personal replays: Bad Moon Rising
Enjoyed this a little more than I thought I would. I like the propulsiveness of Sinister Purpose.
Nice to hear.
Low/mid 3. Didn't care for the last couple tracks and just has a very bland feel overall
it's blues rock. wrote a song for everyone is nice.
Bluesy. His voice has been played out for me. It is so distinct that I can't separate it from the hits that are so very overplayed. It all gives nearly the same vibe. Not my cup of tea.
Good and short Easy to get through, couple of classics All good 3
Yeah some good tunes on this, got the toe tappin. Pretty similar to the last one 3
Love CCR and this is a great album! I don't think a lot of their most memorable songs are on here, but I really enjoyed it overall and would definitely listen again. Top Songs: Wrote a Song For Everyone, Bad Moon Rising, Lodi, Cross-Tie Walker
Pretty good album if a little samey. Incredible that CCR brought out 3 albums that year. Different times...
ghood
decent background listening dad rock
Perfectly good CCR. Not my favorite from them, but their music is so easy to listen to. 3.75
Didn't enjoy as much as the other CCR album I heard from the generator. It has like three hits, which there are two I have heard many times and the rest not so much.
Bueno
Liked it a lot.
Tombstone shadow Bad moon rising Green river Wrote a song for everyone Lodi
Nostalgic stuff, my dad listened to this a lot growing up. I know most of these songs already. Would give a 3.5 stars if possible.
I like this actually! Swamp rock is not really my thing but there's enough classic rock and blues influences to keep my interest. Fogerty's voice hasn't become a caricature yet.
3.8/5
Totally fine. Doesn't change my opinion of Creedence.
MJ Lenderman and CCR are like the same band
No spoko w sumie. 6,5/10
I had a good vibe listening to the album. Overall would give it a 3.
it was ok! disnt stand out to me
It's really hard for me to rate classic rock albums since I grew up listening to them and I sort of end up taking them for granted. I appreciate a lot of the song quality on this one but man Fogerty's voice grates when you have to listen to it for an entire album, and besides the 2 big hits none of the songs really grabbed me. 3 feels too low but I feel like I'm too familiar with some of these songs to get any new enjoyment out of them. 3.5
It’s been a while since i’ve listened to some good honest rock. It’s doesn’t super wow me but it rocked up when i needed it. It’s short but half this album could be standouts.
manatees would dig
Love CCR. Such a good sound and a fun listen. I'll return to it...but maybe not a top tier album for me.
Good songs with an old timey feel and rhythms. Bad Moon Rising favorite song. Like a country rock in a way. Road trip music with the windows down in summer
There are few artists that make me think of the American deep south like Creedence Clearwater Revival. John Fogerty's wailing vocals are so distinctive and have been emulated by many. The big hit from this album is "Bad Moon Rising". Full of twanging lead, acoustic guitar, cymbal and stamping bass drum. It feels like it might be being performed by the most talented one man band you have ever seen. But it never fails to get my tapping my feet. This album feels a mixture of blues, 60s rock and country. Blended expertly to never dip too far into any of these genres, but manages to showcase the best of each. (2.625)
Great vibe, great execution.
I was pretty disappointed when I saw this didn't have any of the hits that I would recognize on it, but it was still pretty good. I really liked this a lot, there were some pretty amazing standout tracks on it. I think the rest of the album is a little underwhelming, but its highs are really high. Favorites: Sinister Purpose, The Night Time Is the Right Time
I have enjoyed this (especially amidst the other albums this week), as welcome relief! Nice to tap my foot instead of shaking my head. 1. Green River 2. Commotion 3. Bad Moon Rising
Overall very good!
sympa
liked it?? but i wasnt rlly in the mood for it, not my style rn
if you like Bayou Southern Rock, you're in for a good time. Some good hits here but they do tend to run together like a lot CCR's music. Good classic rock thats at least worth a listen.
This one’s fine. There’s too many CCR albums on this list though. At least this one has Lodi which is their best song
Classic Southern Rock sound from the 60s -70s. Solid album. Imo nothing to write home ab but enjoyed the listen!
The Night Time Is The Right Time. Bad Moon Rising being the iconic song de este album
Fun listen, great effort on number of selections…bad moon rising and green river classics
great start.
Yeah it’s fun
Still can't believe these dudes are from CA
Solid project Inviting songwriting and a good first impression of the band
very upbeat and fills me with joy and whimsy fav song: Bad Moon Rising
Solid album, enjoyed the swampy rock tunes, and especially the hits. 6/10
Wrote A Song For Everyone // Bad Moon Rising //
Excelente álbum, te transporta a una peli country, aunque me suena un poco monotono.
solid album
Exactly what you'd expect from a CCR album. Not as fun as the jammy Bayou Country, but really solid blues with jazzy lead guitar and powerful vocals.
I just don't find CCR very interesting. Not much variety at all and the general flavor of folk/country infused rock has always been pretty stale to me.
Very middle-of-the-road stuff
I will probably return to this album after a bit of time has passed to see if I think differently but for now it's nothing too crazy for me. Good sounds with a few songs I liked but also a couple songs I consider more filler. The country feeling I get is very hit-or-miss on some songs as well.
In highschool (early 00s), there was a faculty band called “The Barely Ables” that would occasionally play at school events and my memory is that like half of their set was CCR songs. They’re about as Classic Rock(TM) as you can get. They have a stripped-down, bluesy, grit about them that I should really embrace, but for whatever reason it's never quite taken. I know the big hits here, "Green River" and "Bad Moon Rising", and "The Night Time Is The Right Time" was a fun little bop to end the record. Actually, I'm kind of surprised it didn't end up as the second-to-last track on a Van Halen record (where they always seemed to stick a blues cover); maybe if Dave had stuck around another album or two. I see a lot of people calling out "Lodi" as their favorite CCR track, and I guess I get it but it just feels like a distillation of so many of their other songs that it doesn't feel all that fresh or original. If you had to explain this band to someone with one track, it's probably a great choice. Would I listen to it again? Sure. Would I buy this and play it? I doubt it. I have a suspicion that a greatest hits record would give me all the CCR I need.
Here are there I like Creedence, an album is too much John Fogerty for me.
Classic songs of my youth that my parents loved.
Not my favourite CCR
Tighter than Bayou country and overall solid tracks with a groove. Bad Moon Rising is the standout. Probably not an album I’d buy, but I’ll listen to it again. A strong 3 stars.
Has one song we've all heard & the rest is just OK
This one felt kinda meh. Not bad, good singing, I just didn’t particularly ENJOY many of the songs. I’m open to listening again though. I’d give 2.5 if I could.
Green River was my first CCR record. After listening to them for some time now, I can safely say this is 3-4 on their discography for me. Perhaps it’s the hype they were getting by this point, but this feels so much more formulaic as a whole vs their first two albums that I love. I love darker and sludgy CCR. I could go a lifetime without ever hearing Lodi again. Please tell me we get their debut so I can redeem myself for 3 starring this.
Short album, only 29 minutes, but I could not tell you the story. This is what country music was like in the late 60's, way different than the Beatles. I enjoyed this closer to a 4 but its a 7 for me.
Way better than born on a bayou but struggles with a lot of the same issues. The call and response guitar is nice. Just sorta gets repetitive quickly and wrote a song for everyone is awful. Green River and bad moon are mega hits though so it balances. Not sure really what’s different but I am vibing with this one more and run time is just right so you don’t get too bored.
Easy to listen to, feel good, somewhat nostalgic
I liked it!!! Preferred the country stuff to the instrumental ones
fell off at the end, overall a good album with some good deepcuts
Very country to me, I can see the appeal but I'm not into it
Solid album
Certainly good, but just didn't do it for me. Does have 4 famous songs, but CCR not my fav
I loved Bad Moon Rising when I was like 6 and I think it was because it was the first song on my mums ipod
I really enjoyed this
Not a bad album, just nothing special stood out to me about it
It's Creedence
there are a couple of songs I like but overall I've just never been a fan of their songs. lowest tier of the 3 stars
uh huh fortunate son is a good song but it’s not on this. bad moon rising is kinda overrated. would rather choose no.1 in heaven as the best album under 40 minutes 3.5/5
Good and consistent album, I will definitely put it again as background music. I didn't find a song that particularly stood out for me, but the album as a whole is enjoyable.
Good, but not something I see myself listening to frequently
A country blues album that sounds really good. The guitar play is really enticing to hear it gets you uppity and dancing which I really enjoy. The second half of the album definitely picks up for me, it has tracks that have a nice blend of good instrumental and catchy songwriting. Overall fun listen especially driving to it.
I love Fogertys voice and Bad Moon is a classic!
Country Rock aus den 60ern. Lässt sich angenehm hören. "Bad Moon Rising" ist eine bekannte Single. 3/5
Dead solid rock and roll. CCR just rocks
I consider myself a CCR “fan”, yet I’ve never actually listened to an album all the way through. I’m sure there are better ones than this.. hopefully. Overall I thought it was okay. Probably will never listen all the way through again though. 6.8/10
The bayou boys of San Mateo. The Green River lick is so tasty, but we lose all our momentum in the next two tracks. Pick it back up on Bad Moon Rising. Solid record, not perfect by any means.
As soon as the album started I imagined myself flying through the bayou on an airboat, dirty blonde hair flowing in the wind, yellow-tinted glasses, ripping a dart and cracking open a can of Old Milwaukee. The following few songs all blended together and felt a bit repetitive until "Bad Moon Rising" played. I was digging "Sinister Purpose" and "The Night Time is the Right Time" for a minute. Fine listen, but underwhelming.
Pretty much anyone who likes CCR likes them more than I do. I get the appeal and I'm not going to object to anyone putting their CCR on but I'm rarely, if ever, going to be that guy. They've got their place. They sound good on a Vietnam-era soundtrack.
Good jamming album. Easy listening. Liked it.
Eh
3.5
Nothing really grabbed me. 7ish
is “i put a spell on you” from them??
Bad Moon Rising is iconic but this isn’t really my cup of tea overall
Sett på no!!
3.5/5⭐️
i really liked this onee, didn't know that they created "i put a spell on you"
Good stuff !
Better than bayou country for sure
Much prefer their first album
The sound is what I would call "how most old rock songs sounds like", and the vibe of the cover matches it as well. It sounds generic, in a way, but maybe that is what some modern rock songs tries to re-create today. An inspiration idk. The guitar I liked the most, not so much for the vocalists, but he wasn't bad, just wasn't my taste I guess. Though, he did sound good singing slower songs and not screaming (screeching). I enjoyed listening to Tombstone Shadow, Sinister Purpose, and The Night Time is the Right Time. 2.5/5 (Jan. 16, 2026 - 7:03 PM)
Pretty good, I'd only ever heard or recognised the popular ones, but it was a solid album start to end.
Klassisk greit å høre på.
I wanted to listen to all the songs on the album. They weren't bad, but after the fourth of fifth song I got bored. The lyrics and the beats were pretty nice, but, to my mind, this album is an "only good when you're in a specific mood for listening" type of work. But I understand why people love it.
every time it's an album from the 60s it's a win for me
i rate everything 3 stars bc i have no personality xxx
Was not great, and it isn’t my genre really so yeah.
bra, men litt tamt mellom slagene
Lots of hits, knowing they're from Berklee kind of clashes with the very intimate southern and blues themes.
3 1/2
3.0
Maybe I'm just not a big big fan of this gonna fight the war, MERICA ass music, but yet I still would give this album 3 stars. Something neutral, as it's good to listen to for the first time and It has a nice vibe but that's about it. It's not the worst thing I've heard but it's also not the best. And unfortunately it does remind me too much of this time period of like war and love and peace. However, im glad it's consistent and the music is good.
This is my first experience with an album like this. Really solid intro track and set's the whole mood for the album. Good guitar work all throughout. The obvious stand out here is "Bad Moon Rising" which I'm sure that everyone has heard at least once in their life. Overall it's a decent album but nothing was really mindblowing here.
I listen to this album when I grill out in the summer. Its so familiar and comfortable.
It took me three listens to understand what was irking me about Green River. At first I thought in broad terms, the album is repetitive, and although it's a pretty good sound, it gets old even over its short runtime. Something about that conclusion didn't sit right with me though. It dawned on me while listening to Wrote a Song for Everyone the third time around: this album has zero dynamic variance. "What's the deal? There are millions of albums like that?". Well, Green River picks a spot and refuses to move like a spoiled kid getting told to go to their room. The energy of every song is identical; same tempo, same cadence, same dynamic. With how short the album is, this lack of variation almost works in its favor. Little variations on a classic groove to tell a short story over the span of an album could be an interesting concept. It just feels like there's something missing to tie everything together to fulfill that conceptual idea. Whether that be some sort of narrative or a general theme, maybe even a repeated motif to connect the songs in some meaningful way. I will say, there are a couple great tracks that stand very well on their own. Bad Moon Rising is obviously a classic and up there with the best CCR tracks, but I'd like to mention Lodi as well. Something about the passionate tenderness of Fogerty's voice on that song in particular hits me unlike any other track on this record. As a whole though, I can't say I have much interest in Green River as an album. I think the stagnant sound is expanded upon much better in CCR's following two records, and although there is something positive to be said about Green River, it falls a little flat for me overall.
The opening track is my favourite, Green River, it has great groove, gets stuck in your head, and isn’t overly complicated - feel there’s a lot to learn from that track. I hadn’t listened to much CCR, mainly due to the overplayed songs, but this album makes me think, maybe I should check out more.
Didn’t know Bad Moon Rising was on this album (or even the title of the song)
This is exactly what I'd expect from them, and is thoroughly servicable. No hidden depths here. Pleasant but unmemorable.
It was a good album, but there's something about the CCR style that just sounds so dated. But this album didn't really feel like it had much of their political or anti-war themed. I enjoyed listening to it, but I probably won't go back to it.
Eh, it was fine. I think this style of music just isn't my thing so it's hard to rate higher than a three.
3 estrelas. review feita em https://rateyourmusic.com/~melodramasz
The performances are tight and it's very emblematic of Creedence's bluesy southern rock sound. I have to admit that CCR has always been a "they're alright" band for me. With few exceptions I just can't really get into them. I can appreciate this album, but I have to admit it isn't my thing.
I liked it. Good sound.
Great storytelling and use of guitar as a motivator
I like ccr, i don’t remember listening so ill give it a 3 cuz it couldn’t have been too bad but wasn’t crazy. I can vibe to any of their hits, so if one of those was on here the i fw that.
Bra, men kanske lite enformigt?
My first review of 2026, it's a good album.
Good classic I haven't heard in a while. Always enjoyed CCR
very typical 60s rock album good vibes but nothing crazy or standout
A classic CCR album. They have other albums just as good if not better.
It's OK. Bad Moon Rising is great and the rest is filler for the most part.
Not bad but I think a lot of CCR sounds the exact same. In isolation their sound is nice, but a whole album starts to get old.
It's nice enough, but it just plods along. It's just, there.
It was well made, but I found it very repetitive.
Todennäkösesti näitä on tiedossa kaikki maholliset julkasut listauksessa.
Standard 60s rock, nothing too special but good to have on in the background
Funky, gezellig, brengt je in n goede mood
Definitely giving bing bong we listen to Black folk music and we gone rip it off, it's ok 8/10.
liked it better than i thought i would at the first song. might listen again
CCR is a band that I have never appreciated quite at the level of their critical reception. This record is solid - several memorable if overplayed hits surrounded by well executed if pedestrian swampy blues rock. Not my cup of tea, but entirely listenable.
liked the vibe reminded me of the band america
Was really nice, not a big fan of country
liked it, but didn't drive me crazy.
It was good I guess. Didn't really grab me - sounded a bit country, a bit standard rock. It was short though.
Not the first CCR I heard - that was probably Cosmo’s Factory by way of “Who’ll Stop the Rain” - but the first for this list. I briefly lived just down the street from where CCR grew up, probably got my groceries at the same place, or whatever replaced where their moms shopped, etc. So with that in mind, it’s always been a bit mind-blowing that a bunch of kids from the East Bay created a sound this believable, “authentic” even. Fogerty himself and the history of the band makes it tough to fall in love with CCR, but I am super long on admiration for what he accomplished in such a small period of time. I could say this for any CCR album: Chronicle is probably the best CCR experience as the singles really are THAT strong, whereas the album cuts are...fine.
Not really my thing but also not terrible
Some solid bangers on this album, didn’t quite tickle my brain.
Middle of the road
Inconsistent mixing; vox dull and distant in some but clear and upfront in standouts like bad moon rising
Honest R&B, a few nice songs (my favourite is the title track), but honestly there is nothing really memorable here...
it was fine. i listened to their first two albums prior to this, and Green River _did_ feel notably more engaging than the other two, but I don't know if my perception was pre biased by the fact that this album was the one for 1001 and not the other two. all three of them were around a 3, this one might be the best but still not good enough to rate up. Bad Moon Rising is fun tho.
CCR! What fun. Looking over the album, not as many of the big hits on this one, but that could be for the best. No listening notes (both listens while I was driving), but some observations: -These tracks are less the peak CCR stuff and more just a chill time. -Basically no better driving music than CCR -Lodi was awesome--there's a new CCR song that I liked -Other than that, Bad Moon Rising is obviously huge, but I feel like this is a collection of tracks that are nice and pleasant without ever really being a lot more. Review: I'm a solid 3.5 here. I'd definitely come back to the album, but its overshadowed by their more memorable tracks. CCR is always going to be great for porch sitting, medium length drives, etc., but I don't think they've done much *more* than that here. Rounding down.
Hits sind Hits, Filler ist Filler. Needs more cowbells
