Thoroughly enjoyable and didn't outstay its welcome.

Fav: Bad Moon Rising Least Fav: Sinister Purpose
Favorite: Lodi Least Favorite: The Night Time is the Right Time
It's a great album, but not their best in my estimation. That honour goes to Willy and the Poor Boys, which has a more varried palette of styles. Green River is a decidedly blues based album and I'm not a great fan of the blues. But it still has some really great songs so it gets a 4.5 star rating.
*does the groovy grim reaper dance from The Haunted House (1929) to "Bad Moon Rising"*
This is the total opposite of what I'd usually listen to but man I really quite like this. A little to much of the same maybe, but it's also pretty short so it doesn't feel extreme. 4/5
having had to listen to “bayou country” only 4 days ago, getting “green river” made me audibly sigh. however, creedence managed to redeem themselves slightly with this album. the songs were better paced, with the vocals not being too offensive, and leaving enough room for the rest of the band to show off. the guitar solos were notable on this album, often not being particularly complex or technically difficult, but still fitting into the songs nicely. i quite enjoyed the final two instrumental songs, giving a break from the vocals, and showing the talent of the band behind the voice. overall, this was a pretty good album, with a couple of songs i really enjoyed, and a significant improvement on their previous album.
Solid throughout
I only knew Green River from GTA SA's K-DST. 4/5 for this track alone. Rest of the album is pretty meh.
Love their sound - excellent vibes
Not my usual genre but I appreciate this album, solid classic country rock and reminds me of big lebowski. Bad moon rising is a jam
A classic as always when it comes to CCR. I remember first listening to Green River playing GTA SA back in the good ole days when I didn't have to worry about being an adult. This song among many had a great influence on my music taste and I am forever grateful. Great album. Best - Green River (MPF), Bad Moon Rising, and Lodi Worst - no bad songs 3.50-3.75/5
Buen rock and rollito ☺️
cool
Even though i'm not a fan of country-ish music, i liked the lyrics.
I absolutely love this album—I've listened to it before, and it’s just so good. I’ve been on the hunt for it on vinyl for what feels like ages now.
- CCR konnte schon immer mein Herz erwärmen.
4 stars.
STANDOUTS: Green River Bad Moon Rising Lodi OVERALL: 4/5; at this point, it isn't even dad music—this is grandad music. However, I fear I am a simp for CCR.
A classic! How do you not like Bad Moon Rising?
These guys are just so good and consistent. Like listening to a good backyard band.
Pretty good! Has some hits and no real misses.
One of what I call the USA's anthem bands and probably their most accomplished.
Clearwater at their finest, great high points and a great album to work too.
Short and to the point quality
I preferred their other album. This is a bit more mellow, but still slaps. Wish it was a bit longer. Stand-out: Wrote A Song For Everyone
Another great album by CCR. While not as good as Cosmo's Factory, this was still a solid 4/5 rating.
Good album back to front. CCR was tight and had catchy songs that are hard to disparage.
now we're talking
7/10
Three albums in one year!? No wonder they were writing about forgetting songs and breaking bones to get a vacation.
Rounding up to a 4, but it's pretty close anyway.
Some good songs, CCR is great.
Hard to escape biases on a group with hits that haunted American pop culture for 50+ years, but it's also inescapably enjoyable. Again, hard to judge against the current era based on how many bands/artists tried to imitate the style (and how much they imitated others?) but its a standalone joy.
Fucking slaps
I wasn't expecting much. I liked the album surprisingly well. I didn't realize that I already knew so many of the tracks on the album without having really categorized them. I think I'll listen to the album again. 4/5
Hell yeah
Me gustó mucho este disco. Había escuchado algunas cosas de Credence Clearwater, como la famosa Have You Ever Seen The Rain, pero nunca me había detenido en un disco. Estoy segura de que volveré a escucharlo. Me gustaron particularmente las canciones Green River, Wrote A Song For Everyone y The Night Time Is The Right.
enjoyable
Overall, a good album with some classic songs. Very Americana.
Creedence. Yay. :-)
I really like this album
one of my favorite finds so far! Not just bad moon rising, but I like Green River, Lodi, etc. Deep cuts, good lyrics, and spot on for this era
Not the album filled with their 'hits' but still a really good listen and not really any bad or skippable songs. Plus it doesn't overstay its welcome at all!
Like it! ****
Super chill
Great guitar, great voice, good writing, but I was never a fan of that California/Bayou/Cajun/Funk sound that's the Fogerty trademark.
pretty good ion know what else to say 😭👍
This was a collection of really good, really fun songs.
Interspersed with some truly dreadful emo electronica albums, what a relief to have this one pop up. 29 minutes of classic rock background noise. I may listen to again instead of the next few “duds” sure to be my album of the day.

Rating: 8.5/10 Another great CCR album, not much more to be said.
It doesn' t much whiter than this.
Classic tunes
I saw the cover and was like holy moly boomers incoming but then it turned out to be surprisingly pleasant.
CCR: always down for a good time.
I love the lyrics. They resonate-early emo. Tombstone Shadow, I hear ya on the 13 months. Maybe I need to put something under my pillow, too. It’s such a soothing sound, like being on the river at dusk, and it served as the perfect backdrop for my evening run in my small hometown. I felt Lodi in my bones. Wha-do-day
Is there a more inviting opening riff. Probably. But this one is still damn good. And that sense of invitation permeates the album. Even when the news isn't good. They keep it simple in the best possible way.
I love CCR.
Just really enjoyed the album as a whole. Couple of all time tunes help.
I’ve never heard a bad ccr song. Loved it
Liked this, a lot credence are a bit of a marmite band but I’ve always liked them
A couple filler tracks but doesn't outstay its welcome with short, catchy tracks and some punchy riffs. Solid record.
Discazo de Creedence. Tiene temazos y es muy redondito.
Classic rock
True classic American rock. Awesome.
Great start! Bad Moon Rising, Lodi, Green River - Best Songs
I'm pretty sure I gave this a whole extra star because it's summer right now and I'm all about the vibe in a way that I would decidedly not be in winter
Gewoon lekker CCR, prima album, veel goede nummers
Los basslines son legendarios, 7/10
This album is honestly vibes rn. Makes me want to be outdoorsy and hang out on the porch
CCR released their first 5 albums in a space of 24 months. They were all over Top 40 radio and the albums were overall quite good. This album has 2 top 2 songs (title track and Bad Moon Rising), plus 2 that peaked at 30 and 52 (Commotion and Lodi). The other tracks are decent. The final track was a Ray Charles hit on the R&B charts hitting #5. There is a great, but we can’t really watch it now, lip sync version by Cliff Huxtable and family on an episode of The Cosby Show. Not quite a 5 — I’ll save that for at least one other of the first five CCR discs.
Some good songs, and liked the twangy guitar. “Lodi” cracked me up.
Pretty good country rock album
First of all - '69... nice! I enjoyed listening to this album, the first song was a good choice and made me feel welcome. Although there were some meh songs, the ones that were really good very very enjoyable. Apart from the name the name of the band being a mouthful, my dad likes their music so got me into listening to that kind of old school rock. It was nice having this playing in the background while I was doing things.
It’s Creedance. Hard to fault the de facto dad rock band
Solid swamp/blues rock call it what you like but this was a great album.
Nice to listen to, but nothing really stood out.
Gloriously swampy, blues rock that bounces along in a fun way, even as the lyrics deal with down and out musicians, doomed relationships and deadly weather. The album fits nine songs in just under half an hour and is a great way to kick off a rainy bank holiday weekend!
This is an honest blues rock album. On top of its musical qualities, it is not too long so it stays fresh and enjoyable.
I liked it
country rock just does it for me y'all! have listened to CCR a lot but never deep dived into their discography so was happy to see this in the lineup. bad moon and green river are so fucking good but definitely some filler songs in here 8/10
A very standard good
Charming! 7/10
Some classic songs, and some filler. Nothing surprising good or bad.
4/5
Good
Great band - and it has Lodi!
blues-ish rock with a humble, almost country influence. not really much to say about this one, besides the warm instrumentals and the vocals, nothing really spoke out to me. but it's nice. it's a nice little album, like a road trip album. driving out to the woods and letting the wind blow you in your face. also this album's pretty short. it does what it sets out to do and i think that's good enough for me.
Really fantastic songs. I love that they are simple structures with more complex pieces and great melodies. Makes for classics and there are few on this album.
This is awesome, haha. John Fogerty’s vocals are a classic, and the southern feel of the whole thing ties it together quite nicely. Almost all of the songs here are classic. Very good.
You’re lucky they left the tape deck. And the Creedence.
Nothing bad but mostly not what I would ever seek out. Good swamp rock and a very short album.
Sounds as good as the day I 1st heard it.
I feel like I need to be at a Vietnam protest. I think Green River is in GTA San Andreas?
This was more classic swamp rock and bad moon rising is obviously a banger but I think I liked the other CCR album more than this. Bayou Blues felt like a non-stop airboat ride through gator-infested waters while this one was more seedy bar with a tv playing Vietnam footage in the background. Both are great in their own way but I think it comes down to personal preference.
Excellent CCR record, among their best.
"Green River" by Creedence Clearwater Revival is a classic album that embodies the band's signature sound and Americana roots. Released in 1969, this album features a blend of rock, blues, and country elements, creating a cohesive and energetic collection of songs. Tracks like "Green River," "Bad Moon Rising," and "Lodi" showcase CCR's talent for crafting catchy hooks and memorable melodies. John Fogerty's distinctive vocals and guitar work shine throughout the album, supported by the tight rhythm section of the band. One of the standout features of "Green River" is its timeless quality. The songs still resonate with listeners today, evoking a sense of nostalgia for a simpler time. Overall, "Green River" is a testament to CCR's enduring musical legacy and remains a must-listen for fans of classic rock.
Another shot of great southern rock. Short and sweet.
Great hits and overall super mellow vibes
Grew up to these and always fresh to hear them
Love how many brands there was of white boy blues in the 60’s. This album is nostalgic and fresh all at the same time
I like Bad Moon Rising
Top heavy but really fucking good.
so close to being a 5, great album
Pretty solid in the CCR canon.
Culture appropriation or good music? I hear the arguments for the former, but land in the latter camp.
Cool bayou rock from the boys from California!
Swag 1s
Consistente, traz o que se espera de CCR.
CCR what to say
It's CCR doing their thing, good stuff.
Distinct sound, can’t imagine what people must have thought when they first rolled on the scene. Lots of iconic movie scenes popped in my head. 3.4/5
I'd never played a Creedence Clearwater Revival album before, and I listened the first time with some apprehension that it might be another country-tinged rock album so beloved of this list. I found it quite varied in its apparent influences. Country, yes at times, but rock'n'roll, soul, blues, R'nB and all sorts. It was a very enjoyable LP to listen to. It's quite short, less than 30 minutes in the original release version. The stand out track for me is Bad Moon Rising, largely because it's the only CCR song I was familiar with (it was on the American Werewolf in London soundtrack). But the album as a whole enjoyable. Would I play it a again? Well, maybe.
Classic CCR!
A real classic here
Very solid twangy American rock. CCR was cranking out the hits by keeping their heads clear, even though the run wouldn't last. If I had a complaint, maybe it's that the cuts are a little too samey? The guitar sound on this project sounds exactly like my grandpa's old Western band. All that said, the lyrics are actually kinda dark on some of the cuts for as cheery as the music sounds, and I can dig it. Not bad at all.
Love the honesty of this band. Nothing contrived. Feels right.
Solid entry from CCR. There are a few moments on this album (mostly in the second half) where my attention is lost, but overall a great album from an iconic band that defined a signature sound in the folk/blues scene. Fave tracks: Green River, Bad Moon Rising, Lodi
I've always loved CCR, just some really solid folky-blues rock. I'm more familiar with their debut album, but this one has some solid entries as well. It's not perfect, but a great collection of songs nonetheless. Fav Tracks: Green River, Bad Moon Rising, The Night Time Is The Right Time
Sounds amazing similar to every song they have ever done. ;)
Credited with popularizing the swamp rock genre, Creedence Clearwater Revival is Americana at its finest. Classic rockabilly, "Green River" is regarded as one of the greatest albums of all time. This album had hits including "Bad Moon Rising," "Green River," and "Lodi."
credence is great!
Enjoyed
I love the smell of napalm in the morning.
Two Creedence albums in three days. Random is random. This is a decent album. Not as good as Cosmo's Factory as it is less blues influenced and more southern folk. Still has some classic and essential songs on it.
Good album
Love it! Definitely want to give this some repeat listens since there are a few songs here I've never heard before.
Love me some Credence
Darn tootin'
Love me some CCR.
good stuff
Just a good, classic album that I have no complaints over. I think it was a very good example of who CCR is and perfectly executed what they were going for.
CCR always works better for me on album than their hits interspersed on the radio - and tho their albums can be a mixed bag this is a good one; an especially great leadoff with the title track. I will start to get a little bored with their slower cuts (e.g. "Wrote A Song For Everyone") but Fogerty's voice propels more than the music would warrant on its own. Feel like I'm caught between a 3 and 4 here but CCR's best songs are worthy of their status ... bumping up for no less than 3 songs that you still hear 50+ years later, and also for "Sinister Purpose" - one of my fave CCR deep cuts. 7/10 4 stars.
Pretty consistent album, with of course, the wonderful Bad Moon Rising
i love ccr but i prefer cosmos factory. still an amazing album. my favorite album ive got on here so far, strong 8/10
Undeniably fun
This album is at least 1/3 of The Best of... Vol. 1. It's a good, solid album start to finish and has a great flow to it too. The fact that it was the middle of 3 albums released that year is amazing to me.
This is another one I'll have to revisit at some point. A bluesy atmosphere persists throughout the album, and each song follows a fairly conventional format, if that makes sense. However, to me this demonstrated that being out-there and experimental is not necessary to create good music.
Very good
CCR are of course the patron saints of movie montages set in/around the Vietnam War era. This album features several well known tracks by them that are still good to this day. They exemplify southern rock, and this particular album has no weak spots to speak of.
a great album
This is the first album here I'm listening to on vinyl! I got this one for free from my old job because someone said it didn't play right and returned it, but it looks and plays fine. Thank goodness it plays good, too, because the music is great. I've never paid too much attention to CCR, but I thoroughly enjoyed this listen. I had a hankering for some good ass blues rock, and these boys delivered. Wouldn't be surprised if this stayed in regular rotation when I need classic rock.
Always like the vibe of CCR but never given them the time to get into them. Really enjoyed this album, upbeat rock and roll, singer has a great voice. Very much enjoyed this album, it's a keeper.
What a fun album! Lots to like in this one.
I know this is already a short album but to be perfect it should've been even shorter. Or more varied because towards the end everything just starts sounding the same.
I know a lot more CCR then I thought it did. Good listen.
Creedence are undoubtedly great musicians and songwriters. Their music is refreshingly simple and focused. While they're not a band I'd personally put on heavy rotation, I can definitely see why someone would. Previously in the challenge, I got 'Cosmo's Factory', which I would argue is a stronger album than 'Green River'. I also don't know that there's anything particularly significant about this album, other than being a popular CCR release. But it's certainly a well made album.
It's another CCR record, its pretty good, what more do you want from me? 3.7/5
Love CCR - America's greatest band??
This is my first album from this legendary rock group. I was immediately drawn to two things though, this album cover that brings so much joy to me for some reason and the weird genre labeling they get of "Swamp Rock". In a way, those two things perfectly describe this album, even the "swamp" bit... I automatically just love the sound of this album...like right away. I'm a sucker for this late 60s style that's very blues inspired and dirty with killer, round, and punchy drum beats. There are also some country-rock influences in some of these instrumentals like on the hit song "Bad Moon Rising", an absolute banger. There's a lot of dirt and distortion in the guitars, I love it, especially on the noisy outro on "Commotion" which perfectly matches the song's chaotic subject matter. I say dirty but it's nothing too crazy, I think it's just enough to match CCR's shorter and easy-to-dive into song structures. John Fogerty perfectly complements these instrumentals vocally by drawing from the worlds of RnB and Blues (especially in the call and response on the closer "The Night Time is the Right Time"). I find the vocals on the song "Tombstone Shadow" to be very ahead of their time, they almost sound like something you'd hear come out of the 90s grunge scene. I love his gritty and guttural style, it doesn't overpower the mix and blends nicely. This entire album is mixed very cleanly. A lot of blues influence but also country influence in the slower song "Wrote a Song for Everyone", my favorite here. The sentiment is very tragic as John seems to address his lack of commitment toward his loved one and over-commitment toward making music. I do think the final three songs are less memorable than my favorite songs, "Lodi", "Wrote a Song for Everyone" and "Bad Moon Rising", but I won't knock this album for that, those songs are still solid. It's certainly derivative at times, even for the time, but still very enjoyable and a great intro to the band. Everything here is just so easy to enjoy.
classic.. 4.4/5 listened 2x
Great early iteration or southern and folk rock. John Fogherty is a song writing icon.
another solid offering from CCR. i particularly enjoy the three bigger tracks but the rest are still nice to listen to, even if they don't really stick out in my mind. bad moon rising is an all-time jam for me, and tbh the lyrics for it would work great as a metal song. not sure why there aren't more covers of it in heavier styles but I'm on board! favorites: green river, bad moon rising, lodi
Lots of hits. Wild to think I came from the 60s. So clean and quality.
Ich mag CCR, aber irgendwie ist das Album nicht sehr abwechslungsreich.
Love the energy and tempo of CCR.
Pretty good chill classic rock
Good stuff in there.
I felt like the dude
Can't believe the album was so short!
Haven’t heard a bad CCR record yet
8/10. I thought the album was super strong throughout. Sinister Purpose probably my favorite song on the album. Bad Moon Rising of course a classic. I don’t think I was as blown away by anything in this album as I’ve been for my 5 stars (but it toed the line for a 9/10).
Classic CCR
CCR is a fantastic band that I thought was from Mississippi or Louisiana but actually from San Francisco, haha. Great swampy, bluesy rock sounds that I’ve been a great fan of for years. Favorite CCR song is “Born On The Bayou” which most unfortunately is not on this album but is one of those few songs that gives me chills to listen to. This album is full of good work with nothing lame. I don’t know if it has the undoubtable power of a five star rating, but not much is standing in the way of five stars. Let’s give this a health 4.5!
One of my favourite bands of all time. Not their best album but Green Rover, Thombstone Shadow, Lodi, and of course, Bad Moon Rising are all bangers.
Solid. My kind of music. 4 Stars.
I know most of the songs on this album. I was never a huge fan of CCR, but I liked their music well enough. Years later, I can say their songs have aged very well. To me they are the definition of classic southern rock, with their roots firmly planted in the blues tradition. I could definitely see myself pulling this album out again when the mood strikes me.
It was aight.
Always enjoy CCR, even though I had no idea what the lyrics to Green River were all these years until I saw them printed in the video. You'd never know these guys were from L.A., the way they twang like they're from the deep South.
CCR created amazing songs over time but I always felt that they are more of a hits and single band. Sure, they created tons of them that can fit many best of collections. And maybe rightfully so. 'Green River' is surely great but I prefer indeed one of the mentioned collections.
Classic bayou boogie from CCR
Not many bands can have the effect ccr had in such a short time Timeless band
Bardzo fajny nieprzeszkadzacz countryrockhippy na pograniczu dodania do normalnej playlisty
I've written a lot of positive reviews already for the CCR albums on the list and Green River is no exception. The band released so much memorable and classic songs during such a short period of time in the late 60's, it would be easy to just buy a greatest hits record, but you'd be missing out on the many incredible "deep tracks" that weren't chart-toppers on their great run. Every song is recognizable and there isn't any filler, but my only complaint (if you can call it that) is it's so short, it clocks in under 30 minutes (29:25). This is what happens when you release three albums (Bayou Country, Green River, Willy and the Poor Boys) in one year! I have to admit, I'm not a big fan of their longer, drawn out jams anyways, so the 9 songs, all under 5 minutes is a quality listen. Short and sweet and one of their best.
Fantastic album of songs I knew and love
Pretty good
Classic rock masterpiece
CCR is a 5 star band with no 5 star albums
Timeless. This is my kind of dad-rock.
Some standout songs, but most of them were pretty good.
How can you not like CCR?
Would have been a 3 but any album with a track as good as Bad Moon gets an extra point straight away
# Playlist track - Commotion # Notes - Classic album, lots of character and energy. - It was my first experience listening to the entire album, and not some "The Best of Creedence". - Definitely will listen again.
Fantastic summertime album, great flow with some hits. Feel like this is the type of album that’d sound better on vinyl. Def will be great to throw on in the summer over a BBQ.
Flirted with the 5 on this
A very solid album. If CCR would have slowed down their releases and combined all the best songs, I think it could have been one of the best albums of all time
This album is a short one but a good one
Absolutely smashed this as a young'un, and it's still solid
Much nicer than expected. Mixed really well. It pops. Still hate his voice, though.
Pairs well with a cold can of beer. Two of the bands best but the rest is just good. looking into the band they had an amazingly short but prolific career, this being one of three albums released in twelve months.
I wonder how many Vietnamese villages were napalmed while the Yanks blasted CCWR through the megaphone on a helicopter
♨ Green River ♨ Lodi ♨ Sinister Purpose
This was a better one of the albums. Enjoyed it.
Definitely an old favorite. Can’t say much more than has already been said about CCR, it’s in regular rotation for a reason!
Best CCR album for me.
Cool, gritty bluegrass rock. Most of the songs don’t really stand out to me, though. “Bad Moon Rising” is still a banger, though. And I hadn’t heard “Sinister Purpose” before which is awesome.
Great album!
Not usually one for teetotalers, but CCR is an exception. Loved the contrast of major-key, bright music with the darkness of the lyrics. Will definitely be revisiting this one. Favorite tracks: Wrote a Song for Everyone, Green River, Lodi
Solider Swamp Rock. Highlight und wahrscheinlich am bekanntesten ist "Bad Moon Rising".
I love CCR - is there a situation that is not made better by a Creedence song? I could imagine being told I had brain cancer, but it not being so traumatic because "Bad Moon Rising" happened to be on the radio at the time. Which is to say: John Fogerty is an amazing songwriter and musician, and was unnaturally prolific. Banger after hit after classic, over and over. As earlier, Chronicle has what you need (lots of it, all great) and this album is a bit weaker than Cosmo's Factory, but I'll happily play it all day long.
Not as good as the other two CCR albums I listened to so far on this list. Little bit more mellow vibes here from John and the boys.
I'm not one to gravitate to CCR; they are just a little too rockabilly, but this is probably my favorite album of theirs. It's solid front to back, and different than a lot of the music at the time.
Liked them more than I thought I did
Decent little album, and when I say little I mean little. I quite enjoyed it and it's fun little songs. (First rating of new rating system so one star less than would usually give)
This is some straightforward, blue-eyed soul rock. Nothing super out there and just an enjoyable listen overall. Definitely transported me to the sound of that era.
- Commotion - Bad Moon Rising - Lodi - Sinister Purpose
CCR album? Great as always. Not too many hits on this one, but their very distinct style is recognisable straight away. Amazing instrumentation, very good vocal, everything works very well on "Green River".
CCR!! my mom loves this, probably more than I do but still nice
I don't think they make a bad album. They're all good/great. They don't wow me though. Just solid. 3.75/5
It’s crazy how CCR put three great albums out in one year. Some acts may not be able to do that in their whole career, but each of their 69 LPs hold up. I prefer a couple of others, but this is a damn fine half hour of swamp rock. Funny enough, I just span this over the weekend, so I went over that recent memory. B+
Classic album, indeed.
Another album that might as well be a 'greatest hits'.
Great lp
Sparse yet well put-together. Uncomplicated, straight-up rock with a couple of truly classic songs
Therrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre's a baboon on the right.
Very nostalgic sound.
CCR has such a great sound, fun grooves, powerful vocals. Lot's of great music on this album, Bad Moon Rising is a favorite of mine.
Not my most favourite CCR- but a solid album for Sunday afternoon tunes
Great album that shows good songwriting can hold up to the rest of time really well. One of those albums you out one and go yep, that’s them. Great stuff.
Exactly what I expected a full Credence album to sound like. Surprisingly short with decent variety.
Good album.
Hard to hear such an iconic band and imagine it's actually music. Guitars and vibe are great. Vocals are a perfect fit. Rhythm isn't especially exciting on any track but it's fun and works well.
A great album with some classic CCR tracks. Enjoyable all the way through, but it's all a bit too brief!
You always know what you’re going to get with CCR and that’s a good time. Not as strong as Cosmo’s Factory, but how could it be really
Not quite as good as "Como's factory" but still a solid album. There is some songs I hadn't listened to before which I liked and showed the versatility of this album. Firstly the sorrowful and political "Wrote a song for everyone" which really surprised me. Then the more typical bluesy Creedance blues in "The Night Time Is The Right Time". You of course have the hits like "Lodi", "Green River" and "Bad Moon Rising" (which was the first song i learnt on guitar). Solid 4.
It's a good'un.
Highlights - Green River, Commotion, Wrote A Song For Everyone, Lodi, Sinister Purpose Didn't like - not much really, it was all good. I don't think the live songs at the end really added much to the album but maybe if I'd been more familiar with the songs I would have enjoyed hearing different versions more. The only song I was familiar with was bad moon rising, which I'm not super keen on though I don't hate it. I liked the rest of the album more. Overall - Bluesy, rock and roll, very 1969, love the guitar tones and his voice, good album, would listen again.
Not bad
Love CCR and I'm not even a boomer! Even their toss-off blues cover is far and away more entertaining than anything else at the time. The album has aged well, it still sounds good. Great mix of blues-rock styles with great energy. LISTEN UP ROD STEWART: this is how you do gravely-voiced blues singing!Short and awesome.
Creedence Cleared, love em
A nice handful of rock classics mixed in with more amazing work from CCR, I love it.
Fantagott rock og ról. Ljúfir tónar og renndi þessu í gegn nokkrum sinnum. Lodi er uppáhalds lagið mitt á þessarri plötu og bara love it.
A mighty rocking and rolling romp, featuring vocals delivered with grit and gusto, and a cool beefy backing band. Although they've got a swampy southern sound, CCR were actually from California, Cajun rock at it's finest.
Great album, the less familiar tracks hold up well against the classic ones which are awesome
Seria um sólido 3, mas escutar a versão extendida me fez aumentar a nota pra 4. A versão ao vivo de Green River/Susie Q são simplesmente fantásticas. Primeiro disco de rock recomendado na lista, um bom disco no geral, curti demais. 4/5
1. 3/5 2. 3.5/5 3. 4/5 4. 4.5/5 5. 4/5 6. 4/5 7. 3.5/5 8. 3/5 9. 3/5 = 3.61/5
Haven’t heard these songs in years. So refreshing!
Bangerz
Great quick hitting album from a great band. True Rock and Roll for sure.
Classic.
Love me some Creedence
Just a Great fun American rock album, with some great songs, starts off great, but last couple of songs being I’m more instrumental drags the album down from a masterpiece in my eyes. Great band though almost underrated in the UK vs the other 60s greats.
Great album; grew up listening to it. 4/5
It was a good album. I knew several songs and I enjoyed it. I would listen to it again. I will round up.
Listened on the way to work, snowy day. Good album
Good for driving fast through the open countryside between Los Santos and San Fierro
I found myself saying “oh I know this song” more than once! Definitely a solid album and gives me solid backyard bbq vibes.
My only disappointment is that this site generated this album only three days after I got “Bayou Country.” I would have loved to spread my CCR experience out a bit—they’re like comfort food music to me. Many of my general statements from Bayou Country still apply here, but I’ll add that I think “Green River” is overall a stronger album. The title track is great, as are “Bad Moon Rising,” “Lodi,” and “Wrote A Song For Everyone.” And no bad tracks either!
4.75
Great chill experience
Super Album kann man ziemlich durchhören
After owning Chronicle 1 & 2, I decided to start buying a few CCR albums. This is one of the two that I ended up purchasing. It's not only a classic album, but it's just so amazing how they put out three albums in one year. Besides the first six songs being absolutely fantastic, "Night Time is the Right Time" is an excellent cover. I know the two guitars on "Tombstone Shadow" can irritate the ears of some and it turns them off to the song, I find it to be irritating too. Yet, I still like it. Great album and their second best one to "Cosmo's Factory."
CCR are played in every movie set in (or with a flashback to) the Vietnam War
Really nice album. 4/5 Upon subsequent listens, the album is just really solid. It catches quick and doesn’t let up. This should be out of 10, I feel a 9/10 would be good since I can give 4.5/5. It isn’t a 5/5 so I guess 4/5 still.
These dungaree dons don't miss
Iconic sound. Good stuff.
How can you not like CCR. Right off the bat the sound is inimitable (though I learned that John Fogerty reasonably sued The Hollies when “Long, Cool, Woman” came out). But I suppose that’s what it means to be impossible to imitate - try it and everyone sees the original. These songs conjure grainy film footage of high school football players and soldiers on their way to Vietnam - so wound up is this band into the fabric of the American past. Really enjoyed the opportunity to go back and listen to them. Some highlights: yes, I like the key change in “Lodi.” I think it’s expertly done. I also appreciate the way “Sinister Purpose” presages some of the hard rock that was about to come in the next decade. And while Fogerty had an appropriate reputation for reimagining soul and blues songs made famous by other artists, I’d say leave “The Night Time…” to Ray Charles. All in all a great listen. But not as a good as Willy and the Poor Boys.
Brilliant band, great record.
dig it
Little known fact: Creedance only made songs so they can be used in Vietnam era war and Tarantino-esque movies.
Lodi that was a good album
Couple hits, but a lot sounds the same
There's just something about the way Creedence wrote songs. They wrote a bunch of great albums, all in a pretty short timeframe, with a pretty similar sound, and they're all fantastic. This one is no different. It's just strong songwriting, great playing, and awesome vocal performances. Not much more to say really, it's just good music.
SINISTERRRRRR PURRRRPOSEEEE
I blame the Dude
4/5 Some good tunes.
Exactly what I would expect of a CCR album!
Fogerty's guitar tone is delightfully sharp on the rockers; not a big fan of the slower songs but they're not bad. Wish it was harder and faster, but overall it's still got it's place.
Crunchy, fuzzy, almost out of tuned distortion pn the guitars, contributes to the CCR "sound".
Very folksy album. The guitars are very slappy and fun for such depressing topics discussed in the songs. They were definitely worried about war and the environment the same as we are today. Was surprised by the instrumental songs.
Litt for country(?) for min smak, en del bops
Great album albeit seems a bit short. Really tight songs on this - Lodi is a personal favorite.
only in the USA
Was a lot better than I was expecting. Would never have sought it out on my own but would listen again.
Iconic southern rock. Not a go to but very good
Great album, makes me want to drink and cut a rug.
John Fogerty’s haircut gets rated a 0 out of 5.
Upbeat folk rock
Finally some good dad rock.
I'll take it
Good music to play in a ski resort Bar
Lots of good ones here.
Green river - 7.5/10 Commotion - 8.5/10 Tombstone Shadow - 8/10 Wrote a Song for Everyone - 8/10 Bad Moon Rising - 8/10 Lodi - 8/10 Cross-Tie Walker - 7.5/10 Sinister Purpose - 7/10 The Night Time is The Right Time - 7.5/10 TOTAL - 70/90
I’ve listened to a fair few CCR albums over recent months, and I’ve enjoyed them all. This makes me quite happy to see today’s album. I haven’t listened to this one in full before, so I’m looking forward to exploring it. It’s weird though - a couple of years ago I had no interest at all in CCR. Now I think they’re great! Songs I already knew: Bad Moon Rising Favourites: Bad Moon Rising, The Night Time Is The Right Time Once again, this album was really fun. It really gives the feeling of a bunch of friends hanging out and recording music together, and that music just happens to be really good. I think I’ve said this before, but the singer isn’t the best, but it somehow makes the music so much better. It’s hard to explain, but everything definitely comes together very nicely. This is worth a listen.
Heard before: yes From the first time I heard CCR, I got it immediately. Tight little songs, muscular guitar, slapback echo, voice like a bullhorn - a classic pop/soul vibe. I mean, they were incredibly popular so it’s not like I’m some kid of genius, but this workmanlike, song-focused approach was right up my alley. This is the second of *three* records they released in 1969, each one amazing; they were working hard while everyone else was getting stoned. Again, sadly relatable. To this day, I still mumble “stuck in Lodi again” under my breath when shit don’t work. Which is all the time. Top tracks: Lodi, Green River, Wrote A Song For Everyone
Pretty quick hitter but it hits just right. They come in hot with Green River with such a cool guitar riff, picking up the pace a bit on Commotion and simply putting together a really tight album from there. CCR is comforting, they just do jangly fun rock so well. 4 stars
Bad moon is actually not the most enjoyable track on this LP, it’s a bit distracting, out of place, doesn’t fit the rolling vibe of the rest of the country/rock songs. Classic rock is nice.
Pretty rad, man
Nostalgic, feel-good music. John Fogerty’s singing and the effortless, sophisticated guitar solos are the perfect combo. The bonus instrumental and live songs in the Expanded Edition are so good too. Tracks that stood out to me upon 1st listen: 1 - Green River; 3 - Tombstone Shadow; 5 - Bad Moon Rising; (10) - Broken Spoke Shuffle; (11) - Glory Be; (13) Green River/Suzie Q (live) Would I revisit this album: Yes!
Still cracks me up that this band is from El Cerrito and not from the south. This album finds a way to make swamp rock jam band-y type music crisp and concise without droning on and on. "Bad Moon Rising" is an all-time classic, so well done. The title track is the other standout.
Very influential. Reminds me of cruising around with my dad while he was half ripped on Natty light looking for a good fishing hole.
Great hits. B sides are ok - not as strong as previous albums.
Wow, what a really great album! Classic hits that make you feel the Americana.
Not many stone cold Credence classics on this one beyond Bad Moon Rising but it’s a cracking album nonetheless characterised by Fogerty’s drawling vocals, languid guitar playing and typically upbeat songwriting
ClasSIC CCR
Wailing guitars and authentic southern rock… some classics here, but the whole album is a vibe
