Short and to the point

a bit old no?

It's the Ramones. The first four songs are some of the most iconic punk songs ever made. Second-half of the album sorta flops about tho. Bonzo goes to Bitburg is their best song I need to put that in writing somewhere

It's the Ramones...

Classic

Classic punk rock with three chords. "Now I want to sniff some glue" and "blitzkrieg bob" will never get old.

Loved the energy

Still a fun listen. Crazy how this was outlandish punk music when released

All killer, mostly no filler. Four men, one drum beat, three chords. I could go on but I really do enjoy this record. Ramones are the influence for a large part of my adolescent favorites. So I definitely owe Joey and the group. Favorite tracks: "Let's Dance", "Beat on the Brat", "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend"

Great early punk. Laid the blueprint for more famous/successful acts. One of the better proto-punk albums to me. 4.5/5.

Many of these albums are classic, we owe so much to The Ramones and Blitzkrieg Bop is an absolute banger. I love taking 50s rock and playing it faster. It was a killer idea and set forth a new musical revolution. There's a few standouts but a lot of the songs just sound the same. I have this on vinyl but it's not one I go back to often.

It was a new music genre for me, outside of my usual listening range but I enjoyed it, the 4 first songs where probably my favorite

Grace: "Oh wow, where did you get your tee-shirt from?" Kori: "This Ramones tee? (lying) I've had this ages" Grace: "I didn't have you down as a 70s punk fan" Kori: "(lying) I like my music edgy and full of attitude" Later that night, Kori decides to actually play Ramones on his streaming device: "Oh my god, this is shit!!!" He decides however to continue to wear the tee-shirt in public: "Makes me look cool." Yeah, I know, it's influential and iconic etc, but it just isn't that great. pretty good, punk, quite raucous, rough, but still good

okay so apparently they made blitzkrieg bop which i have heard before and its like really well known so yeah. immediately realising this isn't my thing at all.

It's the Ramones! Punk pioneers whose name has been whispered in my ear everywhere I search. This flashy self-titled album is akin to setting off backyard fireworks; damn great fun and I admire how fast-paced it is. Other than that though, I don't think I got as much out of it as I would've hoped.

Blitzkrieg Bop is a banger, but after that song I frankly was just not in the mood for this noise this morning. A lot of the songs sounded the same and I was over it. (3)

A big year for people who love to hear the same pretty bangin' song 12 times.

Great opener with Blitzkrieg Pop and didn't outstay its welcome. Not much variety but very punchy throughout

I'm not a big fan but it is such a foundational album...

tiene temazos, si. pero todas las canciones suenan exactamente igual.

Really cool and does what it wants to do. Not my style, too shallow emotionally and instrumentally. 8.5/10

very repetitive but the instruments are sick. love the bass

Obviously, it's the Ramones and everything's kind of samey samey, but I bet this really bugged people back in the day. Don't know if I've heard Havana Affair before - really like it.

of all the bands elevated to legend status in rock, the Ramones make the least sense. not because they're not influential, but because being mythologized seems to go counter to the band's ethos. it's simple. painfully so at times. however, without this, you don't get a lot of great music both in the punk sphere and out of it. I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend is deliciously twee and fuzzy. deserves to be one of the 1001? yess

First four songs are great. Becomes tedious after a full listen.

rebeldes sem causa

Great variety!

I really like some of the songs, but altogether this album makes me a bit overwhelmed

Huge for the time but obviously very repetitive.

It all sounded similar but it was cool

Blitzkrieg Bop remains an absolute banger (with some THPS3 nostalgia). The rest of the album sounds just like it. It's good but it does indeed get repetitive.

14 song album with a runtime less than 30 mins. This is Earl sweatshirt influence.

This is unbelievably good at what it wants to do, and is absolutely not what I want to listen to. Hard to rate. I'll be diplomatic and go for three flat.

i can see why people might have been surprised by this in 1976, but its not 1976 so its kinda only ok to me

Would be a great neurological rewire in 76 but 50 years later it doesn't have the kick I was looking for. Not aged as well as some other bangers from the 70s

En af de første punk-albums. Udover den absolutte banger Blitzkrieg Bob er der ikke så meget der har skilt sig ud på dette album. Det er meget ensartet, men har dog en fed vibe. Hader desværre starten på chainsaw :((

the opening is a banger, it does suffer from sameness but it made for a fun bike ride

the AC/DC of punk music. big influence to the genre itself, every song basically sounds the same.

tiene mas malas que buenas y las que son buenas seran pocas pero sin increible splr eso es tres

No encontré motivos para un 3, pero solo por ser Ramones.

Épico disco de los Ramones, su álbum debut. Tiene temazos icónicos como I wanna be your boyfriend. Me re gustó. Ya conocía bastantes temas. Gran banda

Surprisingly liked this early beginnings of punk, can definitely hear its influence over more recent punk bands. It’s a short album, fun to listen to and so far more enjoyable to listen to than a lot of recent punk bands. I’ll give punk a second chance.

I don't mind the high energy simple approach, and I'm sure it was wild to hear at the time. But it's so one note I was halfway through the album without even realizing I'd listened to half a dozen songs instead of 2. It's goofy fun, but I'm not gonna pretend like it's a masterpiece either

Softer than I thought

So fun!

Okay, classic album but not the biggest fan. I'm rocked out

It’s good - but not for me. All the songs kind of sounded the same and I’m not rlly into this type of music. But sounds like it would be good for someone who is.

While I appreciate the impact this group and this album have had on music since then, this album's not for me.

So this is an album. You definitely had to transport yourself back to 1976 to appreciate I would have to say coming out of the disco era and the yacht rock that was available at the time this would have been transcendent punk is not my favorite, but I bet this was groundbreaking for the time.

Meh. Despite it being so short, it is rather repetitive. A lot of the songs just sound the same.

Interesting how varied this album is. From a song like “I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend” which, with different production, could be mistaken for an early Beatles song, to more straightforward punk like Loudmouth and the iconic Blitzkrieg Bop. Most of the album blends together, but there are some standout moments. I appreciate it, I just don’t know if I’ll listen to it again.

Solid punk album really set the tone for the next generations. Influential and inspiring

It’s the Ramones. You know what you are in for. You either like it over and over again or you don’t. I like Blitzkrieg Bop. I liked it again the next three or four times. Then it started to wear on me. But it can back around at the end a little.

Hey ho let’s goooo. Me estaba gustando mucho, luego se me empezó a hacer repetitivo. Overall, 3.5.

la verdad me sonaron muy similares todas

Favourite Songs: Chain Saw I Don't Want To Go Down To The Basement

Seminal punk rock album. Very influential and groundbreaking, but not actually a great listening album. Pitchfork: n/a Rolling Stone: Top 500 Albums #47 Best Songs Blitzkrieg Bop Beat on the Bat

Good, but repetitive

I love punk records, this one is no different. Classic album from a classic band. The sequencing and progression of tracks is done so well, and the energy keeps me interested the entire time. Noisy, gritty and head nodding, just the way I like it.

The way he says bop in that one song it’s so cute

Trevligt men väldigt same same

Album très court mais j'ai quand même senti pas mal de redondance, la première musique est top bien sûr

Ptn c’est la phase punk

Ramones are a strange prospect for me, in that i feel ai should like them more than I do. Songs like Blitzkrieg Bop are great but a lot of the rest just passes me by. Not unenjoyable, just not anything than stands out.

This is punk in its purest and most iconic form - sharp, punchy, and done right, to the point it still sounds good 50 years later. Like all punk albums for me, it becomes a little “samey” after a while. But that’s a me thing.

I liked the first song kinda but then they all sounded the same so I stopped liking it

I see the fun vibes. I see how it was a change maker.

Love the genre! Love the vibes! But found it too repetitive to enjoy front to back.

They only do one thing but they do it well.

(4/7) hey ho let's go

Samey but good Blitzkrieg Bop is great mailbox smashing music

Every generation has it's angry young man music, this was mine. I do think that this was the peak of the genre!

Blitztrieg bop is great but the rest of the album kind of blended together in a raucous way that didn’t really work for me, it’s good but not the best

Better than the previous one, but I still don't really like it. Won't be listening for fun, but it's interesting to see this is the source of some (harmonies?) I've heard throughout my life.

Ja het is de Ramones. Vind het eigenlijk wel leuk, maar het is ook niet zo heel spannend

14 songs in 29 minutes, wow. 3/5 for the influence the album had.

This is on the better side of punk, but good lord does a punk album’s assault-to-the-senses vibes drag on after say track 7 or 8.

It’s the Ramones. Can’t help but like it just for that.

Hate to admit it, but this is the first time I’ve ever listened to a Ramon’s album. Know a lot of the songs, but never listen to an album and it’s entirety. Not bad

A solid punk album. I'm more of a Clash fan myself, but I enjoyed this debut album quite a bit.

This has never been my favorite album but I know it had to happen and the attitude is strong .

Short and sharp. High energy. Not bad.

Un peu du rock de neuil qui se répète mais c'était ok

Highlights: Blitzkrieg Bop, Beat on the Brat, Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue, Let's Dance, I Don't Wanna Walk Around with You, Today Your Love Tomorrow the World

Ramones is definitely an album i like but i don't seem to like it as much as i want to. My only real experience with this band is hearing Blitzkrieg Bop everywhere and i can admit that it is a fun song. Everything about this album has a pretty fun energy to it from the music to the vocals, to the lyrics. My issue with this album though is that it is incredibly basic. There just isn't really enough here on offer to really make this album memorable and it kinda fades into the pack with the rest of it's contemporaries. It also doesn't help that all these songs are more or less just versions of Blitzkrieg Bop. I still thought this album was fun, just it could be quite a bit better. Best Song: Blitzkrieg Bop Worst Song: Havana Affair

heard before

Short songs but fun. Lyrics are a bit weird at times, but makes the songs a bit more fun.

the songs were short and snappy, which I appreciated, but they all sounded the same and were so incredibly repetitive.

people were NOT kidding when they said a lot of the songs are similar. honestly, barely anything changed between "I Don't Wanna Go Down to the Basement" and "Loudmouth". but at the same time, I didnt expect much from an early punk album anyways. overall pretty solid: nothing special, not too much to hate about it.

it ramone.

the songs are catchy, I don't remember 90% of them.

Now I wanna sniff some glue feels like a propper punk rock track. Actually the second half of the album is good. the first half feels a bit more popy/surfery.

This sounds pretty quaint today but there's still some classic driving punk stylings to be enjoyed here. A bit lyrically brain dead though.

Alright that was cool enough. No one's gonna be writing home about those lyrics, but the vibe is there. Some unexpectedly interesting choices with chord progs and phrasing. This is definitely the album I associate with punk the most, this specific sound is ubiquitous to it imo.

I know the Ramones and have 17 songs liked by them on Spotify - but only 1 song from this album - "Blitzkrieg Bop". I don't think I've ever listened to the whole thing. I was looking, even on the best Ramones albums - I only have anywhere from 3-7 songs liked because it just get's too samey after awhile. I think Ramones songs are good for randomly popping up on playlists in shuffle mode because too much at one time is just too repetitive. "Let's Dance" was slightly different since it seems like there is an organ back there in the mix. "Today Your Love, Tomorrow the World" - the ambiguous Nazi sympathizing in this song is disturbing. Maybe it's meant to be ironic or edgy - but it's not cool. In 2026, there are still young assholes that think it is cool or edgy or funny to do Nazi salutes - even the richest guy on the fucking planet thinks its ok (based on his actions). This kinda shit needs to actively discouraged. Funny story - one time back in the 80s I was out with a girlfriend driving in my car and was playing a tape of a Ramones album. It wasn't this one, I think it was probably the album Road to Ruin or maybe Rocket to Russia. She had never heard of them and said "why does every song sound exactly the same??" I had to explain that there is more variety but you just have to listen to it more times to hear it. BUT she does have a point - there really is not much musical variety here. I know bands like White Stripes look to Ramones as an influence - and I am sure that is true - but Jack White can do stripped down, DIY music and make it sound so much more interesting with a lot more variety to the sound. Same is true for many other bands that count Ramones as an influence. After 3 listens I ended up liking 5 additional songs - "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend", "Chain Saw", "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue", "I Don't Wanna Go Down To The Basement", and "Let's Dance". Liked songs on Spotify: 6/14 Rating: 3/5

Good first song and then it all sounds the same

blitzkrieg bop, beat on the brat

3/5. It's a legendary album from a legendary band, but I wonder how much of that is novelty that has since worn off. There's no denying that this has some good songs on it. Obvious callout to the "Bop," whose cheery tone and iconic power chord riff has graced everything from sports stadium replays to documentaries to kids movies. There's definitely something infectious about the formula here. The way anyone can sing it and not sound out of tune with the Ramones' own dubious brand of singing. The way anyone can learn it on guitar after a week of picking up the instrument. The catchy vocal rhythms and the simple melodies. It's super accessible all around. A very worthwhile complaint is that it is monotonous. It is fun to hear "Blitzkrieg Bop' every now and then. Less so to hear 13 other songs that carry so much of the same DNA that you're dealing with the musical equivalent of fraternal quattuordecuplets. Let me put it this way: I would probably never recommend to someone another song on this album other than "Blitzkrieg." And I would never tell them to check out this album unless they said they really loved "Blitzkrieg" and wanted to listen to 13 other permutations of it.

I liken the Ramones to the Grateful Dead in the sense that I can recognize their band shirts and a song or two, but have never explored much further. This was a quick and interesting album, and I can definitely understand the significance as they paved the way for early punk.

Never got around to listening to this, and it's fun for a while, but it gets a bit boring and samey.

Chugga, Chugga, Chugga, Chugga... 2.75

Floored that they’re just “Ramones” no “the” Approaching this with reverence. Quick and nostalgic even if I don’t have something to be nostalgic about. Reminds me of my 6th grade best friend who became punk and drifted apart. Not my genre but Blitzkrieg Bop is iconic. Learning they were sort of the start of punk in the city? Wikipedia says the album cover cost $125 and was shot by a woman.

buen álbum, muy bue inicio, la verdad el estilo y todo estuvo cool pero me pareció un roce repetitivo, por lo menos una canción muy funable que ni siquiera me terminé pq me dio cosa pero de reto un album bien, apenas

solid, wasn’t super my vibe today but pretty good

So fun punk rock! Most of the songs sound the same but it makes sense if they pioneered the genre with this album

First song is a banger

It takes more than one song to make an album no matter how good that one song is Blitzkrieg Bop is a classic, I think they 100% saved their best for first. I loved playing it in Rock Band since it was one of the easiest to play perfect on expert mode and it was over so quick. As with all albums that basically invent a genre, it’s pretty cool to see how it all started (even though I’m not a huge fan). Also always have to give the artist props for the album being under 30 mins, especially since I was catching up from the weekend As great as Blitzkrieg Bop is, the novelty wears off very quick when EVERY song sounds like it. Seriously I’m pretty confident this is the single worst album we’ve got in terms of variety. I legit had to check a couple times to make sure the album didn’t loop back to the beginning. I think my view on the album deteriorated a bit more with each track, not because they were bad but because I was already sick of the almost identical sound If we were rating albums off singles, this would definitely be pretty high on my list but unfortunately I gotta rate it off the whole work. Please don’t give us more punk tomorrow

I've said before that I think the Ramones are overrated. Listening to this album doesn't change my thinking on this. I mean, I enjoyed this, and I'm giving it a four because punk. Also because short. That last point is important. If you're going to have as many one note songs as the Ramones put on this album, fortunately they're short. To rant for a moment, I think I only have two problems with the Ramones. First, I don't much like Joey Ramone's crooning. It's fine when he's up there whining, yelling, sneering, shouting, coughing, whatever. Just don't croon. Second, I don't like the guitars as much as other punk bands. I'm cool with ripping away at one or two chords. It's the lack of pedal work or something (and I say that as a nonguitar player). An excellent example of this issue is Havana Affair. Up until the 49th second, the guitar is basic electric flailing, then at 00:49 the guitar tone shifts. I want more songs like that. Bands have written whole songs (maybe whole albums) with that sound. The Ramones? Once a year. Okay rant over. In the end I think punk needs multiple listens until those riffs and lyrics start playing in your head unsolicited. That's when the music starts making more and more sense especially when it comes to those early punk bands like the Ramones, the Damned, Sex Pistols etc.

I feel like I listened to the same song over and over for an hour. I like that song, though so it's not all bad.

Hørt på spasertur på søndag. Starter med et bang, også blir det egentlig bare repeterende og litt kjedelig etter hvert. Savner litt mer dynamikk.

I'd like to say there's beauty in all music genres but admittingly so, rock isn't my favourite. Prior to this, I have never heard of Ramones but upon listening to Ramones by Ramones I instantly recognised the single blitzkrieg bop. Its the only song on their album that I took to. Probably becuase its one of their most popular songs and is the type of song whereby even if you don't like rock you can listen to this. Overall, the album is not for me and its unlikely I'll give it a listen again.

Es un disco divertido, me sorprende la corta duración de las canciones.

Likte det, trur eg kan høyre igjen.

bit long album but coherent

Zone out a fair bit. Repeated words. Lyrics are a bit childish.

Liked that more than most punk albums

this is genuinely such a fun album from start to finish. i dont find myself going through my playlist to listen to most of these songs but man, if im in the mood for it, ill definitely find myself listening to this album on shuffle. white boys really need to go back to the garages and make music like this again.

They have a nice free-wheeling sound, but it's a little too relentless without variation for too high of a rating, even though I respect that they kept the album short, so an easy 3er

Overall Rating - 3.43/5 (6.86/10). This is the kind of early punk I really enjoy.

Not my style hut solid

Never been an actual fan of the punky flavor, though. I am into more intense complexity in the music, both in the arrangement and in the poetry. For sure, the Ramones are an iconic act and made their historical impact. But I'd prefer not to get back to this band ever again.

Yeah Ramones bitches

Ramones by Ramones kicks in immediately and never lets up. From the first second it’s just overdrive fast, fun, and full of energy. Every song feels like it’s flying at the same pace, so it never really gets boring in the moment. It’s obviously hugely influential. Even now, decades later, you can still hear this exact sound in modern punk and rock. The only downside for me is how repetitive it gets. After a while it starts to feel like I’m listening to the same song over and over, and I kind of wish it had a bit more space to breathe. Maybe it’s one that improves with more listens, but even on first go it was definitely a fun ride. It also makes me want to explore more early punk. I’d give it a 3.5 if I could, but I’m leaning more toward a 3 than a 4. Wine pairing? Skip the wine. This is a six-pack of cheap, honest lager. Food pairing? Average pizza take away that hits the spot. Vinyl? Probably not a priority for me. Overall strong 3 out of 5.

As much as I love punk, the Ramones never did much for me

051221 13:35 3.5

An iconic album, artwork, image and related T shirt merchandise. This album, in terms of influence, could be classed as one of the key works of popular music, though it cannot be denied that the album appears musically limited and aside from 'Blitzkrieg Bop' it sounds a bit dated if truth be told. I found Johnny Ramone's interviews very funny and the idea that, as they didn't have cars or girlfriends, that lyrics avoided cliche may well explain their championing by the music press, English teachers and such like. The signature rhythm guitar sound is legendary (and influenced a Queen track) but not all one dimensional bands can sustain a successful career.

Got a little too samey-samey for me a few times, but overall enjoyable.

Einfach klassisches geiles punk album. Nichts allzu besonders einfach nen paar Kids die Bock hatten Mucke zu machen. Jeder song fühlt sich Amateurhaft aber auch frei an. Aber mehr als einfach nen gutes Punk Album ist es leider nicht. Das Album ist sehr Eindimensional Blöde songs: Loud mouth Coole songs: Blitzkrieg Bob, Beat on the Brat, I wanna be Your Boyfriend, Havana Affair

Just last month I was working at the AO arena in Manchester as you can imagine we played this song a lot (blitzkrieg bop), the highlight was blasting it in the van as we entered the arena. Okay though a lot of these songs are nearly exactly the same.

fun but repetitive

Was probably innovative at the time. With 2026 ears, it's an ok album

Had high hopes this was going to be an awesome album after the Blitzkreig Bop but I personally was underwhelmed after. Everything sounded the same without much variation but at the same time it’s not like it was bad but just a little forgettable.

The greatest set of songs ever compiled, no. Enegetic important influential punk power chord combos, absolutely.

Simple, all clocking under 2.5 minutes. But repetitive as time went on, each song sounding the same Reserved for the one or two outstanding hits

Agregué 3 temas a mi lista, me gustó

pre-listening: I know nothing about these dudes but i love the 2nd middle guys look and vibe. they are all so tall and awkward looking. 1: HEY HO BLIITZKRIEG BOP

No me gustó, ya que las canciones eran con ritmos muy repetitivos, duraciones muy cortas y era todo muy igual

Fuerte y rapido

Kinda repetitive but very fun to listen

It was ok . The kind of music you hear in a playful fight like the kingsman movies or marvel movies or in the start of a coming of age movie

Short and repetitive but it paved the way for the punk rock I do absolutely love. A raw album with only a couple of memorable tracks but tons of energy. I get why it’s such a beloved album for those who hadn’t heard anything like it before.

Some good songs, some not so good.

Great hits for special occasions, not entirely my favorite as a full album

A classic. Influential to the maxx. But not my favorite.

feels like they gave Blitzkrieg Bop 14 verses. favorite song is Today Your Love, Tomorrow the World. soft 3

This was better than I expected.

This is cute. I like how short the songs are, I appreciate how this is foundational to lots of music that I like that came afterwards, but no I don't really like this album that much

Pretty boring sonically other than Blitzkrieg Bop but still enjoyed Judy is a Punk, Let's Dance and Today Your Love. I guess I didn't find any of the songs funny or transgressive enough to be interesting but liked it when they were getting a bit soft.

Fun to hear what the ancient version of like the first two pre-Dookie Green Day albums became - even if anyone who gets a 40-minute guitar lesson can basically play the whole thing. I think this is OK and not as good as the couple of other Ramones songs I know - but, it's fine, and it knows what it is. I like Let's Dance and I Don't Wanna Walk Around With You.

I like the Ramones, but does very song have to sound nearly identical. Is this what you do when only know how to do anything else?

Its good fun and a pleasant listen. Not sure much more than that though. Lots of short upbeat tracks.

First and final Ramones, surprisingly. I know these guys are a seminal act within punk, which is why I'm surprised their reputation only warranted one list album. Maybe the rest of their discography just sucks. Anyways, I'm not a punker so I'm not expecting much from this album, but stranger things have happened before. Here goes. Yeah, not bad. I definitely favour this album over the other punk offerings I've listened to. There isn't much to remark about when it comes to this music, truth be told. It's just the same song repeated over 14 tracks. A little excessive, but that 28-minute runtime keeps things in check. The instrumentals and vocals are both good and pair with one another nicely. The guitarwork is especially solid, obviously. The blown-out riffs are reeled in nicely by the cool bass guitar, and elsewhere the decent percussion keeps me nodding along to the music. The vocals are a little hit-or-miss and can be a little awkward at points, but they're classic punk and generally get the job done. Overall, yeah. This was solid. Hey, "Blitzkrieg Bop". I've heard this song, unsurprisingly. One of the quintessential punk tunes, though I've never thought of it as a punk song until now. In any case, it's a good tune. A little simplistic and shortwinded, but it's fun all the same. The guitars have a fun, breakneck feel, yet also a surprising bit of levity. The songwriting is pretty decent as well. The "Hey! Ho! Let's go!" is iconic, and the vocals once again have a feeling of weightlessness to them. Good song. Book time. "... the ultimate punk statement." Recorded in two days on a budget of $6,000 then-money, which is $22,970 USD today. That's pretty punk. The absence of guitar solos was a "...revolutionary declaration", apparently. Wasn't commercially successful, but had a big impact on the trajectory of punk, inspiring acts like The Sex Pistols, The Clash and Buzzcocks. Yeah, like I said, I get the impression that Ramones deserve better from this list. I've clicked through their albums on Wikipedia and their four albums from the 70s are all very warmly received, though they appear to have taken a tumble with all the others which followed. At the very least, I feel like they deserve one extra album on the list. For the time being, however, I can gladly cosign this inclusion.

So I didn't have any standouts for this song except the first two tracks but the album as a whole remained upbeat and energetic all throughout which I thought was nice.5/10, Favorite Song: Beat on the Brat

This was fun, but almost every song sounded the same, not necessarily bad but they blended a bit. My standouts would be the intro and I wanna be your Boyfriend.

The Ramones are an immensely important step in the story of where a lot of my favorite music came from. Unfortunately this album is a lot more important than it is good. It's got 14 of practically the same song on here. Some of them are mildly better than the others. I'll give it a generous bonus for its historical impact, but without that it would have been a 2 something. 3.3/5

I really like many of the songs I know on this album, but after a while they all start to sound the same. Still full of bops, though!

This is alright, but a bit more one-note than the other punk records we've listened to. That's fine, and the runtime helps as it doesn't last forever, but it does just feel like the same song on a loop.

I was not around for their heyday. So I'm missing quite a bit of the zeitgeist. I understand what it was, but I don't get what it was like. It seems to me that must have been an important part of this scene. Hell, it must have been integral because the music on its own is not remotely interesting. Could they be a victim of their own success? I know who they are & I know what they sound like because they are icons. But that's all there is. There's no depth. But then I understand that's kind of the point. So whatever. That's cool I guess. They do have a catchy tune or two. Which is odd because they actually only have one song. 2.5 stars.

Recognized one song, and can acknowledge it’s a classic but I kind of got tired of their sound pretty quickly. Not unenjoyable tho!

After Blitzkrieg bop they all sort of sounded the same tbh which I guess is nice in terms of the album having a distinct sound but they were a bit too similar for my liking

I'll admit I didn't love this album, listening to it, just now (didn't hate it -- just didn't love it). But The Ramones were very influential, probably THE American punk rock band. And they were definitely a New York band, and I think I came to like them more when I lived in New York (1983-87), and probably heard them more on the radio. Trivial side note: I actually saw iconic (tall, skinny, long hair) lead singer Joey Ramone in New York, one time (I think it was in the 90s, on a return visit); pretty sure he was going into the famous comics/graphic novels/toy shop, Forbidden Planet. But, musically, listening today, I'd be hard-pressed to give this more than 3 stars. If I included their influence, and how their music, coming out in the mid-70s, when popular music had taken a turn for the worse (and boring), was like a splash of cold water in the face, I'd probably give them 4 stars (at least). But, since I'm just rating how I like the music on this album today: 3 stars.

lubię punk ale trochę monotonny album hmm

Rock bby

fun to bop along too but also all kinda sounds the same

Está muy bueno y todo, pero medio que sentí que fue una sola canción que no terminaba más.

Criticizing the Ramones for being repetitive feels like criticizing the ocean for being wet

Am I an asshole for saying Fuck the Ramones? Man, I hate these guys as much as Sonic Youth. Guess you had to be there. I hate Joey Ramone and his fuckin Prince of Spain looking ass, triple cleft chin havin' MFer, learn to sing, you asshole.

This album is SO FUNNY because it literally is just Blitzkrieg Bop over and over and over and over again!!!!!!!!

Quick album only 29 minutes. I had heard of The Ramones before, but only recognized 1 song, Blitzkrieg Bop. I also liked I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend and Let’s Dance (even though think that’s a cover of another song). Most of the songs sounded the same. Loved the album cover! Rating: 3

I think mr burns said it best when watching the ramones "have the rolling stones killed". Record is decent enough! All songs sound the same though. Can imagine it was great when it came out. Ramones are okay 👍

Alright but repetitive riffs Every song was the same

p368. 1976. 3 stars. Proto-punk, massive energy and lots of filler. This has not aged well.

I do like their music, but the issue with The Ramones is that once you've heard one song, you've heard them all. Blitzkrieg Bop is great, but the rest of the album is pretty redundant after that.

Straigh forward. Sem surpresas. Nunca tinha ouvido o álbum completo

Timeless classic

Punk en su estado mas balanceado, simple y eficiente. Influyente, mas no una genialidad.

It was fun to listen 😁

Random thoughts: * The Ramones are a what you see is what you get band. Straight ahead punk rock. * Blitzkrieg Bop and Judy is a Punk are the standout tracks. * I know Judy is a Punk from the Royal Tenebaums soundtrack. I think I’m gonna go listen to that now instead of my 1001 homework. * This is definitely a worthy 1001 album. You need to hear this to understand the evolution of rock n roll. * I saw a concert at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in LA and happened to see Johnny Ramones grave when I was stumbling out of the concert. That was pretty cool.

Energetic.

Excelente disco. Tiene unos temazos, creo que se vuelve un poco repetitivo

Punkkia. Punkki on punkkia.

Fav song: I wanna be your boyfriend Album rating: 7.2

Very strong start to an album, then it started to get pretty repetitive.

Maybe this is just me being ignorant of the history of the genre, but this doesn’t sound anywhere near as edgy as I expected it to. It feels weird having lyrics about Nazism and violence and other controversial topics paired with “let’s gos!” and “ooh yeahs” over Ionian power chord progressions. I was expecting it to be more musically dissonant and intense, instead it ends up being kinda camp? Maybe it’s meant to and I’m missing the point - this was still an enjoyable listen and there’s some good songwriting on here.

Great, lively, punk album where 70% of the tracks share the same bass line/percussion.

Classic punk. Blitzkrieg Bop is such an iconic track. Punk with poppy melodies/structure. I Dont Wanna Go is pretty good as a not-so-good BB. Best track (other than BB) - Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue, I Dont Wanna Go Down To The Basement, Today Your Love 3 stars - sound is distinctive and some tracks are great but it's all too samey

Gets credit for being a strong debut but I much prefer Rocket to Russia. Saw them in New Haven at Toad's Place back in the day!

Without a doubt the main influence on punk to this day. A sound that within its genre has remained fresh. However, I am not a big fan of punk, I consider some songs are good but at some point most of them sound the same. I give it a 2, I think is a solid album but I don't see my self listening to the entire album over and over again.

Starts off strong then very repetitive…

Prosjecan album, high energy al svaka pisma ima iste bubnjeve i dosta toga zvuci slicno, al ajde svida mi se sta je vecina pisama kratka. 5/10 Najbolja pisma: Havana affair

Sounds like trash but in like a good fun way. In all seriousness, not really my style, but definitely don't hate it. Pretty okay listen.

Kurde, bardzo fajny klimat, tekst i styl. Szkoda ze album to 12 piosenek w 6 wersjach, które brzmią tak samo

Listening session: february 13th, while commuting to internship Listened to before: heard a couple songs before Thoughts: I agree that most songs sound exactly alike but I don’t really mind because it puts you in a good mood while listening to it Favourite tracks: Blitzkrieg Bop, I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend & Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue

Meh. Every song sounding like a garage band track got old. I like the first few then things got repetitive. “1, 2, 3” got really old.

Not a fan of most of the tracks. I like the style and the purpose, but the content is average to me.

Loved.

When I want dumb ass rock 'n' roll I turn to The Ramones. I'm finding that I want dumb ass rock 'n' roll more and more as life gets ever complex. This is the sound of a band learning how to play their instruments. They never really mastered this, but that's not the point. It's all about the attitude. It's not Year Zero punk, either. There are some glam hangovers to be found in the guitar riffs. It could also be a bastard version of Mick Ronson cutting out the chunky chords. This album makes me want to wear back leather for the rest of my life.

Quick, short, powerful!

I wish I could give .5’s blitzkreig bop rocks. I actually like the production sound. Too many songs sound the same.

I mean, whatever. This all kinda sounded the same and it wasn't my favorite but it wasn't, like, bad. Da blitzkrieg bop

typical rock band stuff. good but not very special or unique. I liked the songs but dont know how much of an influence they had on the music industry 6/10

Honestly thought this was very one-note as an album. I like that it's a little silly but every song just bled into the next. Nothing felt very unique at all! The one note is GOOD but just got boring after a while. 6/10

the Ramones have never been my favourite punk band, but their impact makes this a 4 for me (over a probably 3 album)

Good background noise

The passing of time has aged this, but still a fun listen

Not my typical music but it was super fun and nostalgic!

Easy to see how this album/band influenced the sound of punk rock. Several of their songs sound very similar, but ooze the essence of punk rock. 3/5

Very old school. A bit repetitive though with the riffs Best-blitzstreet bop In music we had to listen to this exact song lol

Fun fast punk rock that doesn't overstay its welcome.

It's amazing the staying power these songs have, even after 50 years. This is rock n roll in its purest form.

Classic punk, with more of a 50s rock n roll influence than the pistols. Production is poor but who cares.

fun to put an album cover to a song you've heard a gazillion times. enjoyed this listen!

High energy but fairly easy listening. Every song sounds the same.

All sounds the same! But important nonetheless. 2.8/5

The opening track is a classic, and there are others as well, but this might be the all-time worst drum sound on a recording ever. I get that they may have recorded this in a New York apartment (I don't know the recording history, but they couldn't have spent much on production), but those cymbals are awful. And the whole mid-rangeyness of the album is a major detraction after three songs. And while it's a feat to pen simple songs that resonate, I guess these don't quite do that with me. I love that The Ramones made their impact, but I prefer to admire them rather than listen to an actual album.

Ramones для меня группа больше для надписи на футболке.

Very catchy--loved this. I like this genre; some songs were repetitive? Really good otherwise

Every song sounds similar, but I understand the influence and respect that

It's funny, for some reason in my head I always validated this album as iconic. Turns out... I don't really feel that way after listening twice yesterday lol. Although I no longer want to deem it "iconic" I think it's extremely fair to say this is a perfect album for those who haven't ventured into punk rock and need something to scratch the surface for the genre. Not a whole lot of depth to the album overall but I don't think that was the goal by any stretch - it's basically 30 minutes of unadulterated fun... and sometimes that's all you need for a solid listen! 2.5/5

Some really fun and iconic songs. But nothing really stood out to me

Pretty good stuff but repetitive sounds, inspired a lot of modern bands

I am not a fan of hard core punk, this is more what I would call pop-punk. That is tolerable, and on occasion a guilty pleasure. Anything I'd own or put on a playlist? No. Does it make me scream turn it off? No. 3.

Some classic pop rock. Enjoyed.

This album is great, but every song pretty much sounds like a variation of blizkrieg bop. I dont have a problem with that.

Kinda the same song but different lyrics not bad

Good but all really similar

I’m not huge on the Ramones, and this didn’t change my mind. I just find it a bit boring. Some songs were catchy though and the lyrics are witty.

A few good tracks but quite samey

I highly doubt you could delineate songs on this album without the vocals. Huh? You think you can? Nu uh I said you can't

#828. Hey, ho, let's go. 3/5: alright, alright, I'm going already.

Musikrichtung supi. Als Album so naja. Dann doch alles irgendwie gleich. Für mich eine positive Überraschung das Cover von lets Dance.

Album #35 Ramones: Ramones One thing that I find interesting about the early stages of punk is its use of Nazi and fascist iconography as a form of counter-culture. The obvious examples being the first punk bands out of the U.K like the Sex Pistols and The Clash, and with Ramones being generally given credit as being the first big American punk band, it is consistent that they too would adopt this habit in their debut. Even though the intentions weren’t to be fascist, and people at the time understood that, if a modern punk band of today were to try that, I feel like the nuance would be lost. I can’t imagine Parquet Courts rolling up to perform Wide Awake whilst looking like Hitler and Guebbels. Aesthetics aside, though truly much of the punk scene was built upon aesthetics first, music second, which is why the songs are often short and simple; the music of the Ramones is undeniably fun. It possesses a raw energy which just makes it hard not to identify with, unless you are truly devoid of either youth or joy. The topics and lyrics are also quite simple, with the songs often having one express purpose: “I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend” is a song about wanting to be someone's boyfriend, “Judy is a Punk” is a song about Judy being a Punk, and most egregiously. “Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue” is a song about the sense-datum theory of perception and whether or not we truly ever experience anything, or it is all a form of qualia interpreted and localized entirely within our brains. This album is undeniably influential, and in my opinion, still a really enjoyable listen, depending on the mood. If I want something introspective and intelligent, I’ll go with Dylan, but if I want to sniff some glue, Ramones it is. Best Tracks: Blitzkrieg Bop, Judy Is a Punk, Beat on the Brat Worst Track: Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue Score out of 10: 7.5

Decent. Would be fun to chug beers to

I wasn’t into this

It was fun but honestly a bit tamer than I expected.

Lively.Whole album pretty much sounds the same

Fuck ass gta 5 radio band

2/3. Pleasant surprise, usually I hate punk but not this time. I can actually understand the singing which gives them big points, and the riffs are undeniable. Blitzkrieg Bop is in fact a bop.

A band I never really listened to or got into, they just never really appealed to me. Oh, They sing that song! Good start. The album was ok to listen to, but I found it very similar. Every song pretty much sounded like the previous one. I get why it is on the list because of when it came out and the role that punk played, but I cant see myself listening to this one again. Looks like I have not missed much by not discovering more about the Ramones. Lets Dance is like a Grease song with a punk riff. In fact half the songs are like that. 3 stars

Fairly standard Punk album. I haven't done a lot of research on this one as I was pretty busy today, but this one kind of feels like it's pretty important and I don't know exactly why. The Ramones are a band I've heard of by name and can't pull a song of theirs unless you tell me one. I checked out their top songs on Spotify pre first listen and found, not on this album, "I Wanna Be Sedated", which is a banger, as well as "Blitzkrieg Bop", which is not only the opening track, but also probably the best, catchiest song on the album. Fairly certain that's another classic Rock Band game jam as well, always going to give bonus points for that. Truly a memorable, ear wormy song. As I started the album, I get to song 2, "Beat on the Brat", and I was surprised to find out that I knew that song as well. Get to track 3, "Judy Is a Punk", and it dawned on me that this was another one of those bands in which I can't name anything off the top of my head from, but then when you play any of the hits, I recognize them pretty quickly. Anyway, after song 3, I think the album just turns into about 25 minutes of the same repetitive song, over and over again. With an album that's 14 different songs with a play time of only 29 minutes and 14 seconds, you quickly get burned out when the album happens to be that short if they don't have much of a different sound from song to song, and unfortunately The Ramones, at least on this album, made 14 different versions of "Blitzkrieg Bop". Noted, it's a great song, and my first couple of listen throughs I was really digging it, but man, there's only so much of this I can take at one time. Maybe I should start opting for Deluxe Editions of albums every day if they start becoming a bit harder to listen to over time. The Deluxe Edition of this album is a staggering 78 songs and is over 2 hours and 45 minutes long. Definitely would not have been over this one as soon if I played that at some point during the day. Anyway, good songs, a bit repetitive, and nothing stood out to really wow me. Good album though, a solid 3 and a half stars on this one. It's my fault for listening to this on repeat, some albums I believe are meant to just be enjoyed one time only. This is one of those albums where you'll breeze through and not even realize it ended. That's probably enough for someone to give it a 4 or 5, but to me this was, again, pretty standard, but still good, Punk music.

Loved this stuff as a kid

strong first half and the second was just meh

Rick i love u but what did you seein this. This is what i’d listen to on the way to work if i was a balding 51 year old man recently divorced and a 9-5 i hate. Did they change the key at all throughout the whole album?? Still pretty iconic though so it deserves a 3

I felt like I just got into each song and then it ended - maybe would listen if I was a teen boy who wanted to be in a punk band in the 2000s … but I’m not so… I got into the vibes tho I do love good drums and a strong baseline and honestly didn’t hate it. Good motivation music but did get a it headachey and repetitive

Not horrific but not really something i like that much. Why is it so noisy. Theres a bit too much going on for me, or maybe i am just listening at a time where i feel overwhelmed and this album is accentuating it. I think i would enjoy it if i was feeling angry, but I generally tend to prefer music with a more lyrical quality to the singing. This feels like I am being shouted at by an ambush of twenty year olds who smoke all the time. Why does every song basically sound the same. Don't like this very much, happy its over.

I liked how they experimented with fuzz and distortion but found some of the songs repetitive and basic in terms of chord progression and structure.

Decent album, great first half but not a fan of the second half. Very iconic songs

When to listen: feel like fighting the m-a-n, get amped. I was really debating between 3 and 4 stars, the songs themselves itself are great but as an album it's a lot of the same without evolution.

Blitzkrieg Bop is a bop. I enjoyed the energy of the album and how fast paced it was, but the lyrics largely sucked. Repetitive because all the songs sounded similar (which was sort of fine cos it’s so short), but also repetitive because most songs were just repeating a handful of lines over and over. I know that it has had a big cultural impact and I can see what people like about it, but it wasn’t my thing. Fav song: Blitzkrieg Bop Least fav: Loudmouth

Couple of good songs from them, but the whole album is very repetitive, especially the bass line. Wouldn’t listen to it again

very repetitive and not really my thing 5/10

I liked thus well enough but it's all rather one-note. Each song just runs on into the next.

Repetitive but good. Knew not to let songs carry on longer than necessary.

Very influential record, but most of the songs aren't that exciting to me. Blitzkrieg Bop is fun. The rest is pretty samey tbh.

Super-exciting, makes-you-want-to-jump-and-down punk rock, the sheer *sound* of this record is exhilarating. It blasts out of the gate with three thrilling uptempo songs, and then slows it down a bit with "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend". From there, the rest of songs are reasonably good but don't have *quite* the same impact as the opening salvo.

super cool love the Ramones, but the 70s punk rock isn’t really my vibe the sound is too muddy

Great if you love Blitzkrieg Bop. I appreciated that all of the songs were short and uptempo. Did it get repetitive? Sure. Not my favorite, but I can appreciate what Ramones did for punk music.

Close your eyes bro. What do you see? Nothing? That's what this album would be without "Blitzkrieg Bop". Influential, no argument. Also stiff, dated, and mostly dull. The attitude mattered more than the songs. What once sounded dangerous now sounds flat and repetitive. Fun is supposed to be the point, but it barely gets there. Historically essential. Practically very boring. 7/10.

blitzkrieg bop is a classic but the rest sounded like the drafts that led to it

Its a great album, but like every song sounds the same……. or maybe i just dont like rock music

Blitzkrieg Bop. Classic song Beat on the Brat. Fun to listen to. Judy is a punk: Reference to Herman's Hermits.

It wasn‘t bad. Sounded repetitive sometimes.

Very repetitive sounds, it seemed like the lyrics were the same in all songs. The ramones are a great band but this album is not it

a bit repetitive but honestly not bad.

about the artist: - known as the “fathers of punk” - no songs about girls, more grunge (dark and antisocial) - they take inspiration from a variety of other artists while listening: - overall, an album with a very fun sound which contracts with darker lyrics

A lot of the tracks sounded very similar. Strong vocals. Really enjoyed the drums. Guitar was pretty power chord heavy.

Tony hawk pro skater 4? Felt like I was loving around in 2.5 speed to this album

Not their best

Parece um medley gigante Letras bué dificeis de compor (ironia) I mean… “Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue”? Certo… Até é vibes ouvir no metro ou a conduzir Se tocar B, G, F# posso acompanhar tudo

-as músicas soam todas iguais 😅, parece q tou a ouvir a mm musica durante meia hora -musicas bem pequenas, album pequeno no geral, meia horita ne -Conhecia a 1 música mas não sabia q era deles -Now i wanna sniff some glue? Ok? Akakaka -letras q até eu escrevia i mean a "now i wanna sniff some glue" tem 2 frases a musica toda akakak -enquanto ouvia a i wanna be your boyfriend percebi q a música toda é I IV V, e em algumas partes do I IV, e ta em Mi maior (descobri mo piano enquanto ouvia akakak) -nao fiquei mt fã pq soou me td mt parecido a nível timbrico e de ritmo e isso, no entanto percebo que o pa ya são os ramones e forem super importantes no punk rock

The album was pretty much the same throughout. I didn't hear a lot of differences in the songs, but they were all pretty short which made the album tolerable for me. Best song, "Let's Dance" as even though it was a cover, the group definitely put their own spin and sound to the song. Worst song, "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue".

Really thought I would rank this higher going into it, but wasn’t as impressed as I hoped. String start to the album and then they really started to lose me. Not too long, but also didn’t impress me anymore on the second listen.

Enjoyed first half - hadn’t heard for a long time

Nice classic optimistic feel. A little repetitive but it is an album so...

Going into this with HIGH hopes, blitzkrieg bop and I wanna be sedated are some of my favourite songs of all time ( don’t disappoint me Ramones) Blitzkrieg bop- 10/10 literally generational Beat on the Brat- 6/10 dunno kinda corny tbh? Judy is a punk- 7.5/10 low key a banger I wanna be your boyfriend- 6/10 not bad but also not anything special Chain saw- 7/10 not bad at all Now I wanna sniff some glue-6.5/10 eeeh? I don’t wanna go down to the basement- 6.5/10 also just eeh tbh Loudmouth- 6.5/10 also not bad Havana affair- 5/10, really ? Listen to my heart- 6.5/10 really getting repetitive now 53rd & 3rd- 5/10 Let’s dance- 7/10 I don’t wanna walk around with you- 6/10 Today your love, Tomorrow the world-7/10 the riff on this one is cool though. Album is the definition of mediocre, really nothing special (except for b bop of course) and I found the riffs really jus tended to be the same throughout all the songs, album felt soulless and empty. Really not for me, and it’s sad cuz I love the ramones

Individually, each song is great. Danceable, a vibe. As an album however, it's basically the same thing every single time. Title of song repeated twice, then alternating lyrics repeating over the same three chord progression. I swear that halfway through the album there are three straight songs with identical instrumentals. Oh well, still had fun with it. Favorite Track: I Don't Wanna Go Down to the Basement

Melhor do álbum: "Blitzkrieg Bop". Pior do álbum: "Havana Affair". Feliz natal ;)

Pretty samey

In poco repetitivo

Probably a 3 from enjoyment but 4-5 for impact.
