1969 - I Wanna Be Your Dog - We Will Fall - Bijzonder nummer, klinkt als een offerings ritueel ofzo No Fun - No fun inderdaad, nee valt wel mee, maar niet geweldig Real Cool Time - Ann - Not Right - Little Doll - Bijzonder album, gevuld met niet de beste muziek. Naar mijn mening. 2.3

eeeehh

Solo Iggy way better than this

1- put “69” somewhere in song title 2- ??? 3- profit all in all the album wasn’t bad, wasn’t great. didn’t like the 10 minute song (which was 1/3rd the album so that didn’t help). the album was kind of like a roller coaster in the fact that you started high then went down a hill

Not my taste

A clever way to sneak another Iggy Pop album in here? Anyway, the album was definitely ahead of its time, yet that does not make an album great - the music does. And it doesn't.

There is such a thing as being too high to make good music. What the hell is We Will Fall and how does that pointless garbage make it on an album? I expected much more emotion to come through on this album but it was mostly indifference. I mean, how are you in a studio, chanting ran ji ran etc, over and over and think somebody needs to hear this for 10 minutes? No Fun at least picked it up for a decent melody and riff. Not enough to save this so-called punk snoozefest.

psychic rock... jos osa alukea ajatuksia..heh.. tietäisi että huono albumi.. perus räväkkää rokin nytkäytyksiä. paitsi yksi biisi, 10minuutin stintti hitaampaa höllöstelyä..mahtava biisi. ja joo hörhöilytuotosta mutta ei se siitä pois mitään vie we will fall

Just not for me.

Pretty good. Might come back to this one.

"I wanna be your dog" is okay. Rest is not to my taste.

Surprisingly underwhelming. I guess they were all about the stage show?

It had its moments but I didn’t really enjoy it

I don't think I cared for this as much as the last Stooges album I heard on this list. It wasn't all bad, but "We Will Fall" was rough and I ended up skipping half of it. 2.5/5

Not a terrible album but the 10 minute drone of We Will Fall was basically the worst part

I've never been a fan of The Stooges music.

I guess it gets an Xtra star for being kinda weird and ahead of its time, but that doesn't make it good. Apparently it influenced many others to make crappy music (AKA punk) in the future

blah blah blah bleh boring boring boring. not offensively bad so it gets a 2.

Distorted fuzz tone, shitty vocals, shitty lyrics, and shitty songs.

I always thought they were a British band so was surprised to read that they’re American! The music is alright-typical late 60s/early 70s radio to me. Listen again: nah Purchase for my collection:no Favourite Song: I Wanna Be Your Dog (thanks to the Forrest Gump soundtrack as a kid haha)

Psychedelic rock gone 💩

I liked the first few songs well enough, but I got progressively bored listening to this. It’s not terrible, I just didn’t find that it grabbed my attention, even in a negative way. I’d probably rate it a 2.5, but I’m rounding down since I probably wouldn’t listen to this again.

Best Song: I Wanna Be Your Dog. I guess it was high energy enough to be interesting. Worst Song: Real Cool Time. This sounds like a drunk guy who has cornered you at a bar and is wetly and vehemently letting you know about the "good time" he's about to give you. Overall: Pretty awful. Nothing stands out as unique or interesting. No reason for this to be on the list or to ever listen to it again.

Lots of psychedelic drops, a few decent, timeless songs that really show the influence of The Stooges on bands from the early 00s. I wouldn't listen again but was torn between 2 and 3 stars, mainly for it's influence.

Semilla del punk-rock, primera banda de Iggy Pop. Tiene algún tema que safa pero no es particularmente algo que me guste tanto. La calidad es buena.

You forget that before bands find their sound, many have a terrible first album. They don’t know what they want to be yet.

Good enough sound but the lyrics were pretty bad

not for me

Very pointless and boring album to be honest. The fact that each song went in one ear then out the other as soon as I listened to it shows something. Very weird. It wasn’t the worst thing I’ve ever heard just boring.

Not great.

I listened to all of We Will Fall in the shower and thought my Spotify was messed up. I’ll never get that 10 minutes back. Hard rock doesn’t have to be this dumb, Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, and company at least bring more interesting instrumentation to the genre.

If if wasn't for the bullcrap 10:18 long boring dirge called "We Will Fall," I'd probably give this a decent 3/5 rating, but it's on there, so I have to lower it by a full point. The rest is just OK, I didn't love or hate anything.

Instrumentals were fine, but vocals were fairly reminiscent of Ian Drury, and that's just not ok.

The 10 minute Gregorian chant they threw in there really ruined it for me.

C- 1969 - 2 I Wanna Be Your Dog - 3 We Will Fall - 3 No Fun - 2 Real Cool Time - 1 Ann - 3 Not Right - 2 Little Doll - 1 The only thing memorable about this album is that it came out in 1969 aka the most important year for Rock. At least these schmucks agreed to make it less than 36 min. I hate The Stooges due to the fact they are not talented. However, every now and then they miraculously string together sounds that aren’t terrible. This album had more not-terrible moments than I could have ever imagined. Thank you 1969 (the year) for sprinkling some quality on what would’ve been an otherwise poor album.

bleak and repetitive even when they are winning on the first two tracks running my fat ass around princes st the other day i thought 'we will fall' was rather boring and felt bad skipping it. now thats just not cricket is it my darlings when the whole point of this is to listen (of course i went back and listened later). then i realised its 10 minutes long. terrible. i reckon they didnt have enough material to cut the record or something. this cult record is not for me.

Pari ekaa biisiä lupaili enemmän kuin toimitti. Jotain taas kakkosen ja kolmosen välistä on tämänkin levyn arvio.

Pari ekaa tuttuja ja ihan hyviä kipaleita, mut loppulevy lopahti

I’m getting a crash course in the early rumblings of punk on the generator this week, with this album arriving one day after The Sonics’ debut album from 1965. Both albums are heralded as influential for the wave of punk bands who eventually rose from the ashes in the mid-1970s. In particular, The Stooges appear to be changing the game here: Iggy Pop’s snarling, sneering, half-sung-half-shouted vocals, guitars drenched and slashed with fuzz, power chords hammered out alongside metronomic drums. John Cale’s stark production places The Stooges firmly in the “early Velvet Underground” camp of trailblazers who could just as easily be heralded as the second coming or written off as a lot of old noise. It‘s easy to call it a landmark moment now, but does that mean I should enjoy the album any more than its songs allow me to? Well, the Stooges’ mission statement to the music world begins with a bang: “1969” and “I Wanna Be Your Dog” are a promising 1-2 kick to throw psychedelia to the curb. This is a new, hard edged kind of music, grabbing listeners by the unmentionables and telling them all they need to know about why the Stooges must have been groundbreaking to the right ears at the time. But then in comes “We Will Fall”. A ten minute dirge centred around one repeated phrase, influenced by raga rock and Indian drone music. Seriously? It wasn’t at all what I’d expected from the Stooges and, while I admire the ambition here, they don’t seem like the band to pull it off. Wallowing through this murky bog without any climactic build or chaotic attitude tanks all the momentum the album had been gathering. No wonder it took punk an extra seven or eight years to really get going. The rest of the songs are a mixed bag, from “Ann”’s dull drop in energy to “No Fun”’s lively guitar solo (but poor mix) and “Little Doll”’s toppling drums. I appreciate “The Stooges”’s place in music history, but- like other albums I’ve heard by this band- it just doesn’t grab me as much as it wants to, or perhaps as much as any punk fanatic would expect it to. I’ll gladly skip to my pick of the bands this influenced if it means a better listening experience.

Sort of basic. Songs seem short and similar. Not bad, but nothing special.

Meh. Not my cup of tea. 2/5

Can anyone who listened to "we will fall" in all its 10 plus minutes honestly say this is a good album?

I wanted to like this better, but everything seems so basic to seem to be parroting when a band learns 3 chords and starts to craft numbingly boring songs. The lyrics seem of the same quality, and though i try to find some raw energy to appreciate, it just is overall pretty boring.

Would be a riot of an album if it didn’t include a 10-minute funeral dirge in the middle

This is my second Stooges album, I liked this one more than Raw Power. As their first record this one sounds more classic rock than the more punk sound later. Still has the same authentic and garage band sound. I can hear the instruments and Iggy's vocals more clearly and you can feel the influence this probably had for later music. Some of the songs are cool and rockin' but then you have the dreadful 10 minute death chant in the middle of this short record, which I'm sure some see as delightful, but not for me... but pretty neat for 1969. (2.5/5)

Old school punk rock, et par nice numre, iggy

Not bad, not great. Still not really in the realm of music I like, but not quite as bad as some of the others 60's stuff we've gotten. His voice is okay but gets old pretty quickly imo. Okay sound. Nothing added from this one 4/10

2/5 I didn't like the first album that came up and I didn't like this one. Although, this one was much more tolerable, maybe because it was shorter?

Shite. And the ten minute song really took the biscuit. I've heard worse and so no 1 rating, but this was dirge for the most part. 1 point was given for the overall brevity. In the bin.

Disappointing The album started strong with "1969" and "I wanna be your dog", it then just collapsed. "We will fall" is just awful and the album never really picks up after that

Completely forgot about this band. Love the sound but completely forgettable apparently.

Not really my cup of tea.

We Will Fall sucks so bad, meandering 10 minute repetitive song felt like a YouTube video that has to be 10:01 just for the ad revenue. Besides that, the album was pretty good. I did listen to the bonus track Asthma Attack and that was definitely something. Overall decent besides the one big strike against it on we will fall

It's okay

What is the point in an album if you're just gonna place the two singles (and easily best songs) right at the beginning? A dissapointing record.

I would have thought a notable proto punk album like this would have been more exciting. Overall it was quite meh.

Yeah alright nothing special. We we fall was different.

First Stooges album I have heard. I have never liked 'I Wanna Be your Dog' and I don't know why. I prefer Iggy's voice as he got older to be honest. It's more unique and raw. Anyways, onto the next.

tough vocalist cool riffs

Aika monotonista

Iconic album that's earned it's place in history, even if it's one I'm not interested in hearing again. Really looking forward to Fun House and Raw Power. 1 = bad 2 = average 3 = good 4 = great 5 = outstanding

It was alright, kind of disappointing. Their next album is definitely way better in my opinion. This one literally has a 10 minute song that doesn't build up whatsoever.

I was surprised by this album, it had more of a 60s pop style than I’d expected.

Must be seminal, doesn't appeal to me

Favourite song: I Wanna Be Your Dog

Wow, i wasnt feeling this one at all, dont like the vocals and the songs felt bland to me, maybe i just dont get it, had some solid guitar solos tho 4/10

Yeah, nah. Nothing that makes me say "Let's listen to this again just now"

Opening track was frightening compared to what I usually thought of as music from the 60's. More distorted than what I am typically used to from that time period. Loud, aggressive, early version of what I consider punk.

I like 01 1969 Knew 02 I Wanna Be Your Dog Didn't like Track 03 Lots of fuzz n wah Wouldn't listen to the whole album again

Good ol meh 60s rock

musica bella ma canzoni ripetitive, parole banali

Some nice guitar riffs. But endlessly repetitive vocals get pretty old quickly. Don’t think it’s aged well

It was fine. Bit droney. Iggy sounded rougher as the album went on. Also he was a bit noncey at the time so points deducted for that. Apart from a couple of outstanding songs I've never really gotten on with Iggy.

Thought I would have enjoyed this more. However, the bizarre 10mins of "We Will Fall" taking up 1/3 of the runtime left a sour taste.

i wanna be your dog é a coisa mais irritante que eu ja ouvi dos anos 60. me lembra velvet underground na simplicidade da estrutura da musica. so que não tem a poesia do lou reed pra preencher o quão repetitivo é. tirando Ann, nada me pegou nesse album

Rough one. First 2 tracks I knew from cover versions.

2/5. Some good songs but kind of weak compared to Funhouse. Wouldn’t listen again besides 1969 and No Fun.

Not as good as the first stooges one I got. 5/5 therapy session though

Ehhhhhh

Not a big fan. Too "in your face"

Eh. It's whatever. Sounds like everything coming out of the 1969 scene. I'll take The Velvet Underground any day over this. 2.5/5

Some ok the 10 minute track is awful

I know it's very influential but that's all there really is to say about this. The first two songs are okay, after that I did not enjoy it anymore.

Noe kjent stoff. Dette er streit. Kan like det, men blir ikke veldig fenget.

I loved song #1, and then the album fell apart for me. It was like Velvet Underground and The Rolling Stones had a baby, and it was one of those babies you look at and cringe. It has value: it’s a baby, after all. But good lord!

I want to really like this. No Fun and I Wanna Be Your Dog are both very good but the rest is forgettable at best. 2.5 star.

Really disappointing

what this album generator has shown me is that i'm not a huge fan of proto-punk! i suppose i like a more refined noise, though i know for a fact i do enjoy iggy pop's music. i did find something to enjoy about this album, and it grew on me after the first listen. getting past my biases and first impressions is important! "we will fall" is a dark, ominous, hymnal-like song. the guitar in "i wanna be your dog," wow! "no fun" is fun to clap along to! and of course, for the artists with long careers, such as iggy pop, it's always interesting to hear their first album.

Mucky, murky, half eaten relics of psych-cum-garage-cum-noise-cum-grunge-cum-what-may. I generally have an appreciation for edgy ambition, but I like it to be more rounded off than this.

I dig the vibe, but the energy is pretty flat. It's kind of like psychedelic punk, which I don't feel meshes all that well.

Recognised more from this one but preferred Iggy’s other entry on this list.

Didn't realise The Stooges were active in the sixties; maybe for its time this was quite fresh and interesting. Today, the cool, scuzzy vibes aren't really enough to make up for the lack of actual songs - most of 'em just sound like basic jams. And I'm an Iggy fan.

First half of the album, I felt all the songs were at least 30% too long. '1969' was very evocative. 'I Wanna Be Your Dog' is a classic, and 'We Will Fall' feels very particularly of its time. But for all you read about The Stooges' proto-punk, I don't get the visceral sense of anger and frustration that I do from later punk music. The lyrics are largely not great, and the musical motifs and hooks sort of outstay their welcome. I feel like there's something I'm not getting. I didn't much like it.

Disappointingly disjointed and wasn’t expecting the long drone psychedelic track after the knockout Wanna be your dog.

I wanna be your dog is great, and I like The Doors vibes, but it is still a poor album for me.

Abscheulicher Katzenjammer. Einziger Lichtblick ist I Wanna Be Your Dog.

No fun... NOT a real cool time...

Didn’t hate it, didn’t love it. It just was. Some songs I found catchy others were very forgettable.

Generic, late 60's proto-punk with blues rock embellishments. Not terrible, but boring. Or, to say it with one of the song titles: "No Fun". 2/5.

meh meh

Didnt like it, althought it has iggy pop in it.

Mja, het is wel oké maar iets te chaotisch voor mij.

I wanted to like it. I was only familiar with the first two tracks before listening and enjoy them both. They might be the only two good songs on the album though. The third track is so fucking bad and it spoils the rest of the listen.

Just not really a fan. Somewhat boring even by '69 standards. No songs really jumped out at me. 5/10.

I like the guitar...not crazy about the singer

Man, this is a strange album. It kicks ass for two songs, then we take 10 minutes to listen to some of the most boring music to come out of the 60s, and then the rest of the album is 2nd or 3rd rate copies of the first two tracks. Disappointing listen. Favorite Tracks: "1969", "I Wanna Be Your Dog"

Potjandorie, wat een vage muziek. Vooral het nummer "We Will Fall". Het nummer "No Fun" is dan weer wel best geinig eigenlijk, met gitaar op links. **

Boring

Not very creative

I know of the Stooges, but I don't know if I've ever heard a song from them before. I was surprised at the overall mellow (noisy, but mellow) nature of the album. I was also suprised to find a track that was longer than 10 minutes. At best, some of the tracks made it into the 'okay' range. The album wasn't terrible, but I could easily say 'no' to listening to this album again.

It's a very interesting sound, but not one that I would especially like to visit in future.

Beetje te veel langzame uitgesponnen nummers naar mijn smaak

hasn't aged well

Not great

2/5 Not really enjoyable music

Didn’t particularly enjoy this one. It’s got a familiar feel to artists that came later so I assume it’s on this list as an influence. On its own though I find it pretty forgettable.

My ears kinda hurt. 4/10

Not a fan. Asthma attack made me legit angry.

Because I previously only had listened to their second album, Fun House, The Stooges' eponymous debut sounds significantly more tame, accessible, and simple in comparison. Because most tracks consist of the same cords being played over and over, the raw guitars, whistles and bells make for an annoyingly abbrasive sound, I can't help but dislike this record. It just sounds bad. 2/5.

Decent rock album

One-hit wonder with I wanna be your dog. There's some experimental stuff here that was probably mind-blowing for its time, but doesn't stand the test of 50 years. Its difficult to listen to an album like this with a clean lens

Not bad, but a lot of the songs were kinda boring. Like that one that just dragged on and on… why??

Up tempo stuff was good, slower more ambient songs were pretty boring.

It sounded like I expected it to sound. Generally hated it, but saved by "I wanna be your dog. 2 stars

Bit boring, not bad music though Favourite song- not right

Meh, nao achei nada de mais

Voices and instruments don't do it for me.

Not for me, dawg. But maybe if I was a cool, angsty person in the 60's, this would have been my vibe. Probs not tho, I'd be too scared.

Interesting - I hear a lot of early 60's "garage rock" as well as "proto-punk" as some describe it. It's a little harsh for my tastes right now, though. Some of the songs are pretty lame, IMO.

This album for some reason feels like it’s somewhere between The Troggs and The Rolling Stones. Sometimes it get a little more Troggs and although there are some high points on the album, I didn’t really love it. A lot of the songs sound the same (1969, I Wanna Be Your Dog, Little Doll) and the album feels longer than it is. 1969 is pretty good even though it’s really simple. Little Doll is just too much of the same melody. We Will Fall is different and sort of a nice break but it feels like an interlude and is 10 minutes long which is WAY too long. Real Cool Time is another of my least favorite songs because it just sounds messy and it’s kind of annoying imo. I do like the vocals on the album for the most part though and some parts are pretty good so I don’t hate it but I most likely won’t revisit it. Favorite song: 1969 Least Favorite Songs: We Will Fall, Real Cool Time Strong 4/10

Not really my thing.

Wasn’t expecting _Stooges_ to be so psychedelic. _We Will Fall_ is too long.

Actually pretty weak in hindsight. Some good tracks but it's so basic

Dont get the hype

Punk. Bastante coñazo.

This is a product of its time. Raw, high energy... also lots of distortion, effects and then some breaks for psychedelic interludes. Respect, but no need to listen to again.

Meh, not my cup of tea.

Starts incredibly strong but peters out starting with that 10-minute Indian jam. Knowing where they go next, you're really ready to get there fast.

Alright, didn't really enjoy it

Some high points, but it really gets bogged down by the chanting and stuff.

I know this is pretty early for I guess what they'd call proto-punk but honestly it's pretty crap. if these songs turned up on an album today it'd be laughed out of existence. is it seriously true that we couldn't have all those cool punk bands without this? no one's exactly standing on the shoulders of giants here. 2/5 cause there's a slight chance that without it I'd never have heard NOFX.

Repetitive sounds, I simply cannot listen to

I never really liked anything Iggy Pop related. This was not enjoyable for me at all.

I don’t understand how this made the list. Uninteresting, to say the least.

On the second song - I don’t like it We will fall has got to be one of the worst pieces of music I have ever had the misfortune of hearing No fun slightly redeemed this album but I still have lots of hate for the whole thing. The amount of relief I felt when it ended is immeasurable

I've heard a smattering of songs from Iggy Pop and the Stooges that I like, but none of them are on this album. I'm sure that this album was an important influence on Punk in the 70s, but this didn't do much for me at all. I Wanna Be Your Dog is starred in Apple Music, but it definitely wasn't the top track for me. I'm not sure I could even pick a top track... it would be more like less tiresome than others. We Will Fall felt like it was an hour long.

this was just plain boring to me, I couldn't wait to be done with it.

It was a painful listen So much electric guitar and repetitive ideas

This was painful to get through. We Will Fall might be one of the worst songs I've ever heard. Very annoying and uninspired.

I didn't listen to anything all the way through, and still somehow these 8 tracks felt like 40. Wildly unenjoyable lyrically and musically. If this is supposed to be anti-music, it's an overwhelming success. Boring, repetitive instrumentation and 3rd grade imitation of lyric writing. I came into this album with a lot of positivity about its possibilities, and was immediately knocked on my ass with 300 declarations about what year it was when this was recorded. Terribly disappointing ⭐.5

Not the best thing out of 1969, ill say that.

So... in order to meet their record label's minimum requirements, these guys stuffed this album with last-minute filler (including a blatantly overlong chant that takes up a third of the runtime), and this is somehow a must hear experience? Yeah. No.

A hard pass on this.

I tried being open-minded but I do not like this album at all. I’m a fan of rock and roll but this is just a lazy stupid mess.

One of the songs somewhere in the middle just caught me so off-guard that I am voting it a 1 out of principle. In reality I just didnt like the album, so it should have been a two, but that one song was too strange

I found the album so boring

Yo we are short on track length "Just put in 10 minutes of chanting for track 3 to comprise 1/3 of the album length." Ok

not good

Iggy Pop is overrated trash. I would zero star the shit out of this if I could.

This is tiresome posturing presenting itself as serious pop music. I wanna be your dog is silly and the rest is equally as daft but without the attempt at humour.

Top albums I didn't need to hear before I die but I did anyway just to do the task. I was happy about the fact that I didn't know the band and now I have to pretend I don't know this.

Awful singing and poorly executed cultural appropriation of South Asian music. Turned it off several times.

Not bad, but just wasn't feeling it.

This cover is so serious. And the album doubly so. Not interested.

1/7: "I Wanna Be your Dog" - Kind of boring. Just not catching my attention. 2/7: "We Will Fall" is absolutely awful. It just draaaaaags and goes on for 10 minutes basically in a chant. I'm now dreading having to listen to the rest of the album. Not awful in the way I can ignore. Awful in a way that it forces you to pay attention to it and watch the progress bar steadily progress to relief by ending this atrocity. 3/7: "No Fun": This album some how got worse. Is this a torture device employed by the CIA? Is this my life now? 4/7: "Real Cool Time": The names of these are ironic right? Are all of the Stoogies fans suffering from Stockholm syndrome? 5/7: "Ann": My ears are bleeding, there is no end in sight. I am pain. There is no end. 6/7 "Not Right": If play this loud enough I will go deaf and this awful record wills top right? 7/25: "Little Doll": I just realized I clicked on the double disc version of this. To my wife and children I love them, this is my end.

I feel actively dumber having listened to this

man these are some bottom of the barrel rhyming schemes, I was hoping it would be just one or two songs but the entire thing is like that. Also it just insists on being present through some wall of noise complete with some bored sounding vocals. Put the guitar down, its already dead.

Didn't need another Stooges album. Figured their debut might have shed some light as to why they are on the list 3 times but that wasn't the case. Maybe this was iconic when it released but it didn't hold up for me on a current listen. I tried to like this but just couldn't. We Will Fall was an awful waste of 10 minutes and the rest of the album did little more to rein it in. Evidently I'm just not a big fan of early Iggy and/or his time with The Stooges. 0.95 stars

This is the epitome of monotony. We Will Fall was pure lethargy. Ann was meaningless noise. I can’t stand Iggy Pop, nor can I fathom how others find him enjoyable.

Not for me

Not my cup of tea

1/5 This album screams 60s rock music, but lacks heavily in quality. It's almost like a jack of all trades, but master of none. Once you acknowledge that this album is considered Proto-Punk, it will make a lot of sense that nearly all of Punk Rock sounds shit if everything that followed tried to copy this sound. Sad to have an album like this to close this week. Rating could've been 2/5, but it gets -1 because of Iggy Pop.

I've never listened to the Stooges before. It never appealed to me and I was sure I only knew them by name or by the forever shirtless Iggy Pop, but by track 2 I realized I did know them. ("I wanna be your dog") I can see why they are credited with early punk roots, abandoning a lot of the traditional rock n roll form or gimmicks. Although I hear it and can hear right away how melodically the title track still has roots in a blues 12 bar blue format it just manipulated. First listen I just thought the song was a little too long and the second track a little too short. The third track is 10 minutes of almost eastern new age chanting. I was over it within the first minute, I gave up by the half way mark. I can see how at the time Iggy Pop's vocals and willingness to push or at times abandon what was the dying stages of the early 60's rock form could be appealing. And I bet live it was even more so. Context is everything, but to me it's not very interesting. His vocals still synonymous of many rock singers of that era, a la Mick Jagger. Songs like Real Cool Time feel like total album filler. Some albums paved the way for other acts or for artists to evolve. And without the Stooges other artists might not exist. Rolling Stone put this at 388 of top 500 albums of all time. I wouldn't make the list at all for me, but that's what this experience is for. Maybe by the end of this I'll feel differently. Not an album I'd ever come back to, I just wanted it to end. 1 star

disgusting

Right off the bat, the song 1969 is stupid af. Maybe they're playing with some meta shit where they thought 1969 would suck so they made a sucky song, but I think it was just a flop of a song. I thought about changing what I was listening to like 10 times and remembered I had to get through it. There were some really nice sonic stretches, but the vocals and the lack of complexity or general intrigue in these songs was damning. 1/5

i am sorry but i literally cannot stand when people make bhajans and think they ate

1-2 not my style of rock

Not for me. 1/5

I'm not high enough to appreciate this. It just sounds like if the the Rolling Stones were high(er) and worse.

I suppose you’d have to have been there. Overrated.

Heroine's one hell of a drug, I guess.

boooooring!!

ohhhh cheeee raaaam jaaaaaa…. ram cha ja rum

Just all around not good. My wife heard the third song (We Will Fall) and immediately said "why does it sound like I am in a satanic cult now with this music" and I cannot unhear that.

Utterly forgettable. Not sure how this makes the list

Nah. Growly 60's rock

this sounds like shit from the prehistoric era YNN

Like the band more than his solo stuff

8 songs too many. Not my cup of tea.

No fun was no fun, Iggy stop plz

1969, more like 1984!!!!!! iggy slop

Iggy Stop back at it again with the worst music of all time!! At least the production quality wasn't unlistenable like Raw Power this time. 1 or 1.5

gitarren ok, aber was ist da sonst noch?!

The Good: Iggy The Bad: Iggy in 1969 The Ugly: supposed punk… I don’t much care for punk music in general, and can not understand why I’ve had to listen to this album seeing as there is much better product to listen to from that era. So shoot me for giving this album a 1* for the simple reason that I felt like skipping each song after listening to it for more than 15 seconds...

not for me

I can't tell who the biggest "Stooge" is: me for listening to this album, the band for making this album, or the record company for producing this album. Maybe it's able to be more appreciated within the context of when it was released, but I think this album is horrible frankly

No music, just noise

I really hated We Will Fall and was then fed up with the whole album and refused to give it the benefit of the doubt at any other point

In my opinion this music was too simple, too repetitive and not enough soul in it Just the most basic cookie cutter songs and chord progressions 1/2**, wouldn’t listen again and nothing stood out

Notable only for its place between rock and punk, and for introducing Iggy Pop in such an explosive fashion. Imagining myself as a listener in 1969, I’d be completely taken aback by the viciousness of the production while recognizing themes that, today, are tired and loathsome — almost every track is about some girl or woman, or spending the night with a woman, or drugs. So late 60s, but angry and somewhat whiny rather than purely hedonistic. As a listener today, it fails to capture attention as much as derision, but such is the case for all pieces of art outside their time. What’s more unforgivable is that modern bands like The Strokes and White Stripes try so hard to recreate this sound, as some sort of homage. MOVE. ON. Won’t listen again but glad to have done so.

So my first thought was... shouldn't there only be 3 stooges? Then I remembered Shemp and spent some time pondering which one was Shemp. Then I listened to the album. I was expecting to enjoy it and found myself sorely disappointed. I don't think I'll ever revisit this one.

I just found it really boring. Sorry. If I grew up on a farm, and was retarded, Stooges might impress me but I didn't, so it doesn't.

Thanks for the opportunity. Been there, listened to that. I can see where folks would love to see the history of artists and how they came from space/place/time/occasion. This is one for them, not for me. 1 star.

schlecht. so schlecht. einfach gar nix. Eher 0/5 Sterne!

I'm pretty done with the Stooges. Their music is just boring to me, and this one has that weird 7 min chanting song that really made this one drag.

I don't normally listen to lyrics but I couldn't help tuning in only to hear how uninspired they are. The music lacks melody and is generally arduous to listen to.

Not my style.

Was not my favorite genre.

I thought I sorta liked Iggy Pop. Then I heard two of his albums on here and now I’m totally fucking out. This is such a drag.

This is an album. I can here how it inspired but honestly this album is empty in itself. The most notable thing about this album is the the year it came out.

Guitarist plays the guitar like how a car plays a car crash

didnt like it, the mixes were bad. -A

Mehhh, not even the drug abuse of the 60s made this good

not much to say

This album was rough almost stopped after song two. I would be happy if I don’t hear them again

There was nothing really special about. No song really catched my attention attention. And the guitar was a bit annoying sometimes.

I really just did not like this much. It wasn’t cohesive and more than one song was super weird. I couldn’t get through it.

shit from a butt how this got into the top 1001 albums idk, must just be nostalgia cos this sucks man.. the melodies itself are nice enough, but the singing is atrocious he sounds squeaky and whiny, like hes purposely singing to annoy you was a hard listen

Did not like.

This was terrible

gritty yet muted boring droning rock-punk. like drinking a lukewarm flat red bull.

Not a fan of Punk

Was not a fan

Horrible

Not my favorite... a little self-absorbed.

Terrible.

1,5 and the half is for a 1969 and its guitar sound, I don't like the vocals, I don't like the monotony, I don't like it at all, one of the worst albums generated even though it's the first 1 star

Interesting one. It sounds like a few guys who have just heard velvet underground, and are bluffing their way to record an album. It doesn't match VU or Doors by a long way. We will fall: What were they thinking. pretentious gobbledeygook. John Cale influence and as one reviewer called it - padding. Lyrically these fellows didnt stretch themselves!!! Listening to some of their other stuff I'm not sure they had the ability. However all said, it is ahead of it's time and inspired alot of music I love. Great idea but very weak in parts. Cover art: generic atyle photo but it expresses some tension. Like the band logo. 2/5

Having never even heard of the stooges before, I began listening with an open mind. However, once the second song was finished, i realisd i had listened to their most played song and didn't even realised the song had changed... This album felt like the lyrics were there to bulk up the songs. We will fall especially highlights this, 10 minutes of random to make the album longer...

2 "We Will Fall" is so out of place wtf. 1 not a fan

Not my cup of tea, 1969 var ändå helt ok med dom andra var förjävliga

Didn’t care for this album. Just didn’t dig the sound much

Long rambling songs. The only one that had any kind of order I think I’ve heard on a car commercial. I did not care for this.

pas mon style du tout DNF

Honestly the first song was alright, then the album just kept going and sounding the same. And it wasn't a good "same" sound. This music is not for me, would rather listen to my son's musical toys on repeat.

Repetitive, boring, no singing melodies.

Frankly I have no interest in punk rock, so I listened to the first few songs and called it a day. This isn't a knock on the inventiveness of the band, or any of that, I just genuinely don't care about punk, or old rock for that matter

Did not like it

Eh, not for me. The first track was ok, the second track was too repetitive, and the third track was...?! Then the rest was just blah.

Rable. Noise. Exception: 'I wanna be your Dog'

not a huge fan of the dad band jam rock feel but found one redeeming song !

Not my cup of tea

Boring :( Had higher hopes.

Horrible!!

just noise

I'm not generally a fan of British Invasion bands but the album was a pleasant listen

music typical of the times
