Reviews (page 4 of 7)
I’m not likely to listen to it again, but I’m impressed that it manages to sound of its time and yet oddly modern.
Idk something was missing
No real opinion.
Good
Great album if you like early Pink Floyd, King Gizzard. Love the band was never keen on the vocals also missing songs. Instrumentation is amazing though.
I've been meaning to check this out for a while. Two of my favorite songwriters of all time have brought up CAN in ways that made me excited to hear what they had, even if it took me until this impetus to actually do it. I understood exactly what each of them meant (one more than the other, but definitely both) by their respective endorsements right when the chorus came in on track one. I'll need to listen to their more focused stuff to get a real appreciation for the band, I think, but this is a good listen nonetheless. Doesn't ever rise above good for me, though.
more of a vibe than a structured album, which i can appreciate. seems very ahead of its time, 70s ambient basically??, and a few parts grabbed my attention and were pretty interesting, but overall was kind of a boring listen for me personally 😔
Rock progressif un peu perché
Ça ne m’a pas marqué
Talented people making somewhat boring music. Drums are very forward, and the guy can clearly play, but not enough happens to justify the teack lengths.
How can album with 4 songs be long 40 minutes
Some records demand engagement. Some repel it. Future Days does neither — it simply exists, pleasantly and without urgency, somewhere in the middle distance between those two experiences. Can’s most ambient and atmospheric record is also their most patient, built from four long tracks that flow into each other with a warm, slightly hazy quality that rewards neither close attention nor casual dismissal. “Mop Shake” is the clearest highlight, the moment where the rhythm section locks in with enough purpose to briefly demand notice. The rest drifts by agreeably without quite justifying the time it asks for. This sits in similar territory to the Jarre listen earlier in this project — architectural patience that neither fully connects nor actively bothers. The production is warm, the musicianship is real, and the indifference it generates is honest rather than hostile. A straightforward three. Not everything needs to be more than that.
Not bad
Probably impressive for 1973 but just not my thing. 2.5/5. Raising to 3.
I can see that it would have been quite interesting and different back when it came out but it doesn’t seem that amazing now.
Just a few German guys getting silly - what's not to like :)
Oof, four tracks for a 40 minute album. Let's give it a spin. Never heard of this artist so no idea what I'm in for, guessing its probably not pop-punk. So, ambient sound type music. And I also realize that I know this band from Vitamin C. Very drum forward, which is a plus from me. Feels like it is especially unique for something from the 70s and not cranked out in an afternoon on Ableton. It was an enjoyable listen, but I can't imagine spinning this up on the regular or plucking any one of the four tracks out to add to rotation.
Interesting ambient soundscapes. I like the flow of it - some of it reminds me of some of Medeski, Martin, & Wood's more experimental stuff - but it's not something I'd seek out to listen to. Fine to have on in the background, though.
I understand why it’s influential, but it’s irritating to me.
Well, it’s fine I guess, but if I heard it again it would be like the first time listening to it.
One of those albums where you have to keep reminding yourself it came out in the 70’s because it could have easily come out 30 years later.
At some points they sound way ahead of their time ... at other points it sounds like Gorillaz stole everything from them! Good stuff!
I could only listen to 4 songs because I could only find a short playlist rather than the full album.
Electronic music. Was so quiet, I felt like I could hardly hear half the album. I don't know if it was the version I was listening to or if the mixing was bad, but other than that it was okay.
3 e meio
Coolt!
Inget större fan av extremt långa låtar i allmänhet men det här lät ändå rätt trevligt.
Was it bad? Absolutely not. Did I like it? Uh…
Avant Garde experimental rock. Influenced some bands I've enjoyed in the past (Sonic Youth, Unkle). Not too bad
Raro, interesante para el año. Me gustó. 6/10
Interesting psychedelic, instrumental, prog-rock. Basic vocals.
Fun record. Enjoyed with a coffee and a large joint
It's nice
"Experimental German" are words that bring joy to my heart; "ambient elements", however, tends to mean it'll be shite. This wasn't shite. It wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible or unpleasant or boring. It just happened, I listened, there were some pleasant enough moments and I will never listen to it again.
big 3
Can the singer maybe get a better mic or just leave the room? 5/10
Sounded good in the background but I won’t be back.
This was pleasant.
Lekker expirimenteel
Did not expect to wake up this morning to listening to experimental shit like this. I’m even more confused as to why I kind of like it. Spray is a very weird track and if my partner heard me listening to it in private she’d think I was having a mental breakdown. However, Future Days & Bel Air are intriguing experimental tracks that hook you in with their quirky grooves and futuristic sounds, and Moonshake is a short & sweet funky tune. How this album was released 50 years ago yet still baffles & intrigues to this day I’ll never know. It’s a really tough one to score, but I’ll give it a 6/10 for being engaging & experimental, but just a bit too odd for me to consider it great.
No private session used for Spotify. I like CAN, especially the Suzuki era, but I don't think I had listened to this album. This album gets a little more ambient/atmospheric than I tend to put on heavy rotation, but it's still cool.
Long songs can be super cool, but only if structure is applied. The psychedelic jams seemed to stretch for ridiculous lengths and made me feel incredibly disengaged. Jaki Liebezeit is incredible throughout the album so to say, and his ability perfectly accompanies the vibe the record is going for. The longer songs just seemed to drone on and on and it felt like less of a cohesive album as the tracks kept going with genuinely no structure. Although, Moonshake is a great song and at times the longer songs could be interesting.
It grew on me. 3
Good
This was ok but to be honest this largely passed me by with it's long, drawn-out, meditative approach. I even tried a couple of listens, unfocussed admittedly and perhaps that's where the problem lies. I think this probably demands attention or drugs and I have neither today.
This was interesting. I can't say I loved it but I can say it's quite pleasant. It kinda sounds psych-groovy-slightly-rockish. I actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would, going in blind. I can somewhat recommend. But I probably won't listen to it again.
Decent background stuff going on
A pleasant discovery with a good mix of experimentation and flow. Didn’t really like the last track, which as it makes up a quarter of the album is a bit of a problem!
I really hope Tago Mago is on this list. That is where the true majesty of Can is found, and the genius of Jaki Liebezeit’s drumming fully laid to bare. It would be a travesty for this album to be their only representation on this list. They’re clearly having a chill here, it’s pleasant enough, but it just doesn’t really get going for me
This sounded nice but it was very focused on the soundscapes so as a result it tended to fade into the background so I forgot I was listening to it at multiple points. I do like this but yeah, just didn’t always hold my attention.
Eclectic.
I enjoyed this but it was limited by having to listen on youtube. Big, confident noodly soundscapes with space and jazzy touches and a nice floaty vibe. Punctuated by ads. If i saw this in a second hand record store i'd buy it just to try and listen uninterrupted.
The vibes are okay but it's just not stimulating enough for me
You have to be in a certain mood to even listen to this, but it hits under the right conditions.
Not my type of music but was OK.
Good listen. 3.5/5
Prog
Interesting, good in the right mood Standout song: Bel Air
Doesn't bother me - wasn't bad to have on in the background of what I was working on.
Different - experimental, ethereal, spacey “rock”. I enjoyed Future Days. Spray lost me, especially the “singing” at the end of the track. Moonshake was ok, a little repetitive for my taste. Bel Air was also a meh - felt like a run on sentence and should have been two songs. The second half was better than the first.(3)
*1973. German Krautrock group. *4 songs, 40 minute album. *Sounds like Phish - kind of spacey, but really light and pretty good background music. *I wouldn't listen to this again, but I wouldn't be mad if someone had it on. RATING - 6/10
I liked this far more than I thought I would. Definitely worth a listen.
Weird and interesting!
Another background music but this one was really enjoyable.
Interesting is the word here. Might have been disturbing for some people back in 1973. The first song reminded me of Air. Its pleasant, making a nice background music that accompanies you
Kinda Jammy. Listenable
Future Days is an album that i don't have too much to say about but it still was a fairly decent listen. I can see both similarities and differences between this album and the prior album i heard from this band (Tago Mago). Both albums are structured very similarly to each other and have the same general vibe to them. However, i think i like this one more as it is less noisy than Tago Mago which makes it a fair bit more palatable. The songs still can get pretty forgettable though even with their quirks. The main reason for this is mostly the length of these songs as well as the fact they seem to rely on ambiance a lot. That being said, this album was still a decent listen, just not very remarkable. Best Song: Moonshake Worst Song: Bel Air
Huh, this was pretty cool. Not something I'd revisit, but this was my first exposure to 'Krautrock' and it was interesting.
Good as a soundtrack, vibey, not amazing
Pretty weird, but definitely has some cool parts.
*Unique album with a cool feel to it
This was really good and interesting. One of the better previously unknown pulls from this list so far
It was pretty decent but not mix here to draw you back again
3,5
Not really sure what this was haha talking vocals at some points...instrumental in others...all different types of instruments and sounds Not my thing
I liked this Can album better than the other on the list. More ambient, less noise.
Back to back 4 song albums. I’m seeing a trend. The funky meandering tunes really take you on a journey that doesn’t quite feel of this time or place. I enjoyed it for sure but definitely for me more of a thing I’d put on in the background and vibe to more than actively listen. The 19 minute finale was a real joy.
Mellower than i thought it would be solid.
Interesting
it's an experimental rock album with almost no lyrics. four songs in the album and 41 minutes long. it's a lot.
I really didn't know what to make of this.
Not quite a 4 but was very good and held up through multiple plays.
Can really leans into the atmospheric, improvisational vibe here. The title track is the clear standout for me. "Future Days" has this dreamy, flowing quality that pulls you along without feeling repetitive. "Moonshake" also delivers with its groovy, laid-back vibe that shows the band's great rhythm section. For me it can feel a bit too aimless at times. Some tracks meander without really going anywhere compelling, and the lack of structure sometimes just feels unfocused. It rewards active listening but didn't always hold my attention. That said, if you're into ambient or experimental music, there's definitely something here. It's influential stuff that clearly paved the way for a lot of post-rock and electronic music that came later, just not really my vibe.
Future days, future love and more golden cans please.
Honestly didn’t know what to expect going into this album. This album was weird, yet groovy at times. I think the instrumentation and the sonics are the best part of this album for me. I enjoyed the moments of just instruments the most. The vocals to me were weird and quite low in comparison to everything else. It was hard to hear and comprehend what was being said. Also this album is 4 songs, but 40 minutes, but the only song i felt dragged on was the final song, but it was also 20 min long. I think the middle 2 songs are the best part of the album and the rest of it was just fine.
One of the strangest entries on this list so far… extremely hard to rate as it’s definitely not bad, in fact it’s good. However, I’d never listen to it again. More of an immersive one-off experience than a music album. Long, drawn-out, spacey, atmospheric soundscapes. Probably giving it a high 3, not quite a 4-level of enjoyment.
Pretty cool. I wasn't familiar with this album or the band prior to this list, so I appreciate the new experience. Somehow it managed to be both simple and complex, interesting and monotonous. It made for a unique listening experience. Future days was an apt name for the album. It felt like something far more recent than it's release date (1973) would've led me to believe. The music itself reminded me more of the drum and bass albums I've been recommended than the contemporary rock efforts on the list. Fitting, since the one that came to mind (New Forms by Roni Size) came out almost 25 years later. Future Days indeed. Unlike New Forms, this album felt like it lasted the appropriate amount of time. It was only four tracks, but the last one, the 20-minute Bel Air, felt more like four or five songs combined. Two of the others each ran over 8 minutes. I thought that worked well with their style and form, so it didn't get old. This was true even though it felt like the songs never really had that much involvement in them. They kept things spacious and simple, and it worked to create a strange but pleasant listen. For as interesting as it was, though, I can't say I really loved it or saw much there to say it was a great album. Most of it seemed good, or fine at worst. But it was easy to zone out for stretches. When it came back into focus, it didn't really feel like I had missed anything important. I guess it felt more like something for the background than something to really engage with fully. So, while I enjoyed this, I don't think it's much better than good/fine. I appreciate it's inclusion and showing me something new, and I give it credit for being different and strangely interesting. It also had a good vibe. I just don't know that I'd be inclined to listen to it again. Overall: 2.9/5
An album who's ratings on here have a perfect rating pattern with the peak at 3. That's the ideal score here for me, it's not a hard listen but also is fairly meandering and somewhat indiscernimable.
Interesting sound
spacey as hell
#831. CAN, sure, but SHOULD? 3/5: maybe
Ok tier 3/5
Fine, if you say so.
Interesting, meditative
okay. few lyrics so works as a sound shield from neighbors' tiktoks when reading a book.
Not sure what to make of this one. Which is probably the intended effect. I would imagine it is a grower. Better than Holger’s solo offering though, which admittedly is a low bar
Funky vibes. Great instrumental
Enjoyed "Moonshake." The rest sort of just washed over me. Didn't really feel one way or the other about it. I know they're influential and, say, Josh Homme has said they informed QOTSA's sound, and I can sort of see that, but it's just so-so.
Intreging....I listed to this twice
This one was fun. Somehow managed to feel fresh.
An interesting mix of sounds and textures. I’d never heard of them and this was a good introductory album for them.
It was ok a bit of decent drumming in there but tracks too long
It's like a cool intro or outro that never ends. Unfortunately doesn't go anywhere either. I don't mind the sound, drum focus is cool, bit of an atmosphere, but nah, needs something else for me.
never heard. 4 tracks on a 41-min album. interesting. I respect exotic, worldly music/genres but I won't go out of my way. This is cool. I respect it. Just not for me.
Now this is the weird shit I've been waiting for. Never heard of Can before but I love this type of music. It feels very ahead of it's time. I span this a couple of times today and will do so again as it was a trip. Keep this stuff coming. 3.5⭐️
Quite good! Some gnarly prog rock.
Interesting background music but slightly too interesting to work to.
Weird and fun. Not something I'd listen to unless I was in the mood, but sounds great considering how long ago it was recorded.
ok
3.5
tone-setting theme music for the hotshot detective to ruminate on the clues he's gathered so far in the big case. but also kind of trouble man. but also kind of a credits-roll whispery jam session. don't hate it! favorite is Moonshake, it's pretty tight as an actual bite-sized song
Rating: 7/10 Future Days is technically great but something isn’t clicking for me to really love it after two listens. Hypnotically flowing passages that can be played pleasantly in the background but also can be listened to closely for its intricacies. And of course, definitely made to trip to.
Neat but a little forgettable. It has layers, like an onion, but I also don't want to listen to it twice, also much like an onion. If I had to really dig for essential, I COULD SEE how it might be a vertebra in the backbone of all space rock made in the last 20 years, but yeah 5.8/10
It's repetitive but not boring. Except the last song. That's just way too long. Favorite song: Moonshake
meh
Interesting but not totally arresting. I love me some prog. There are some really interesting sounds here. Quite often it felt like I was listening to a soundscape type album from this century so I guess it's a little ahead of its time. In general though it didn't make a huge impression on me the couple of times I listened through. Maybe one to try again with
Krautrock at its best
Better than the Can album we had last week (lots of tight groupings lately!) but still not really for more. Gauzy and forgettable.
Sounds like a prelude to Radiohead. Not as psychedelic as the other album we heard but it also doesn’t derail into terrible noise.
CAN CAN CAN CAN CAN CAN CAN CAN
Mindblowingly ahead of its time!
see, i did need to hear this before i died.
Weirdly captivating album…
There's a primal feel to this that humanizes the electronics. Not easy to listen to in places but I can see how it influences a lot of music that followed.
Aivan kelpo progelevy
Interesting experimental stuff.
I liked the exploratory nature of the album. The band is taking some risks and it mostly comes off. Overall, it was good. 3/5 Might listen again
I sort of like this and I sort of can't be bothered with it. 3/5.
Pretty good, will have to go on my interesting albums list.
3.2
Hypnotic and ahead of its time. Not something I’ll revisit in full anytime soon, but I enjoyed the forward-thinking arrangements and sprawl while it lasted. The vocals being mixed so low is a stand-out choice. I’d be interested in learning how they approached making this record, especially the 19+ minute closing track.
Dlaczego ta lista mi to robi? 5/10.
Some lush sounds here and there across the album, but I think there's just not enough merits to justify it's length.
Weird style of music, but I like it
Prima achtergrondmuziek
A fun and experimental album that has shades of the future. They don’t seem to be limited by time, song structure or much else.
That was decent. The vocals sounded too far away for half the album though. Odd choice. Bel Air was the best song.
trippy prog
I could only listen to the final track on the album (that's all youtube would allow me to hear). It was ok. It went on a bit though, 20 fucking minutes to be precise. Feels weird trying to rate an album on one 20 minute track. I'll give it a 3, can't say fairer than that.
German Krautrock group Can. Not at all what I imagined when I read that description prior to listening. More psychedelic abstract rock, but very mild. +1 for being made in 1972. 3/5
idgaf
Very strange and a harder listen other than Moonshine but certainly interesting 3.5
3.5 / 5 I really enjoyed this, but it's not something that will ever make it on to my repeat list. Experimental and immersive, but not compelling enough for me to want to come back to it. Glad to have heard it, though.
Enjoyable, and groundbreaking at the time. Nowadays, yes...it's good, but we've all use to Krautrock/
My first time listening to Can. And it was fun! Could be considered background music but one that you actually notice and dance a little to 3/5
relatively small album trackwise (i.e. 4 songs) but the 40 minute run time combines hypnotic grooves with extensive textures that flow over the groovy sounds that reflect influences from soul, funk, rock, and other genres. A relatively chill album, it's a nice listen.
Pretty cool
Super interesting and experimental. Fun to have as background while working but not super my type of thing.
I liked it
Interesting ambiance music.
Bueno
Very interesting and catchy!
Art atmosphereic. Actually listenable tho
Funny & a bit crazy
I can tell it's good experimental music. It's fun for a bit.
Great studying and classroom music.
Sure, it’s fine. Nothing bad but I’m not sure I get it?
It was fine. Can is certainly a vibe.
Kraut-rock!
Kind of a fun groovy album here. Definitely catches my attention.
The songs were so long that I dozed off and started daydreaming. I can’t tell you any song but I remember it not being terrible
I enjoyed the instrumental tracks and vibes nature of the album overall.
viiiiibes
It's ok. Experimental, ambiental, not unpleasant to the ear. That's all I can say, nothing negative, but not much positive. 3/5
Hey, this album. I recall seeing this cover someplace, somehow, though I'm confident I've never listened to Can before. This is gonna be a rock album - I can feel it. Not sure what kind, however. It's probably gonna be on the less-commercial side of rock, similar to that of 2112. Huh. Krautrock/space rock. Guess I wasn't too off the mark as far as out-there music is concerned. This is pretty alright - some groovy melodies and an appealing, mellow sound, though there's something about this music which is too reserved and impersonal for my tastes. Be it the wackadoo, distant vocals or the generally mild sound, something about this didn't click as much as I wanted it to. Still, for what it is, it's a more-than-good-enough time. The title track has a good melody once it gets going - very funky. I also dig all of the little details in the background, particularly the reverberating guitars that appear near the end of the track. I was dreading listening to "Bel Air" for it's egregious track length, though it ended up being a pretty alright listen. Big fan of those soft, plucky guitars and the dark synth hanging in the background makes for a pretty good contrast. Suzuki's vocals didn't move me on the previous tracks, though he's well-suited to this kind of mellow, otherwordly sound. The ambient interlude and wavy synth in the middle of the track is also a nice break. Book time. Influential to post rock, though that's all she wrote. Wikipedia reveals that this album was a stylistic shift for the band and has had an enduring appeal amongst critics. Yeah, I'm on this album's side - I can always vouch for an underdog act. This seems to be a solid pick.
Can- I actually thought this was cool. I liked the textures and minimalist grooves. I dug the trancey rhythms and percussion. Must have been very unique in 1973 some of it sounds like it could’ve been an album from the mid 90’s. I liked the super sustainy guitars- reminded me of Yes. I enjoyed the weird experimental exploratoryness of it. Some of it seems a bit random especially the lead guitar. The vocals seemed like a missed opportunity to me- would have loved to hear this with an interesting singer.
I waited too long to rate this one after listening. It was kind of interesting and weird but theres a lot of interesting and weird music i find more compelling than this so this ended up being kind of forgettable to me. Maybe 2.7
I don't know if I am impressed, in shock, glad it is over, bored etc. It is truly a one of a kind album. 3/5
I couldn’t care less.
Groupe inconnu. =>3/5
Nothing too interesting.
Intersting , but not mine
This feels incredibly modern for 1973! A good soundtrack for work this morning. It wanders at times, but the beats feel more solid and substantive than your average 70s rock band.
An interesting and enjoyable listen, though I found myself drifting in and out of it. Probably not something I'd revisit, but it wasn't unpleasant.
3/5
Can is such a cool band - so outside of my conception of what was going on at the time. But they still lose a star for a 19-minute track.
Rock / experimental
Low-key got scared when I saw the freaking 19 minutes long songs ?? 💔💔
This was unexpected. Cool album.
ive heard one other album by this group and hated it. this actually makes me excited to revisit it when it pops up on the list. not that i loved this but it was interesting
Great production and drums, last track in particular about 3 days too long
pretty cool
A decent jam album.
Interesting. Have only heard of Can previously as Radiohead covered their "The Thief", which led me to listen to Delay 1968. This one was very interesting - first impression was surprising, seeing only 4 songs. I can't really say much about them, other than they were particularly atmospheric. I think I find this kind of music more of an acquired taste. All in all, not bad, not good.
Liked the first song ambient
Not what I was expecting, good background stuff.
Its so unpredictable, so many different cultural influences and genres all packed in a 40 minute album. I appreciate the instrumentals, wish there were more words honestly, a but long and repetitive for me, also very spontaneous and too chaotic for me.
I think this album and particularly the last song are great soundtrack music. There is a lot I like about this album but it didn't add up to enough for me. I can't see myself relistening.
This was cool, and something I had never heard before. I'm not terribly surprised the only song shorter than 8 minutes is the one with the most plays, since you can't really fit 10+ minute songs on random playlists. Others have mentioned this, but the percussion is what makes this album. The vocals are whispy and very "modern" for 1970, the guitars and bass are fun enough, but the drums and the other toys are what make this good. The drummer manages to take some very basic rhythms and make them interesting by adding off beat hits on the various drum heads or by inserting wood blocks and odd cymbals. For a steady groove it really has a lot of variety. That said, the last song, which is half the album, wasn’t really different enough for me to pay attention that long. I actually think it could’ve been two songs - nearly split at the 10 minute mark actually. The theme really only comes together in the last minute. It’s satisfying, sure, but I wish it had been combined a little better. I liked this but I sort of spaced through “Bel Air”, and I listened to it twice. Not enough to bump it up higher for me. I bet if this album had two more tracks I’d like it more.
Pretty good background music for some morning Excel work. Nothing really memorable. This could be used to illustrate that a movie or television series is set in the 70's.
Liked parts of it.
This album can seemingly exist anywhere in time without sounding outdated. This wasn't what I was expecting at all. I'm not even sure what Krautrock is anymore. Very interesting tropical-like ambient sound and structure.
Cool ambiance / vibes. Sasha would like this
This was interesting. Pretty ambient and atmospheric but had a bit of variety.
techno - not my thing
Nothing for me here, at least I wasn't annoyed
For Can, it's an easy listening album. I miss the weirdness though
When it's good, it's really good... CAN is awesome. 3.5 stars.
This is really a fantastic album. It's atmospheric, deep, and very gradual; nothing jumps out at you and everything fits so well. I have always really liked music that was genre adjacent to this- something I've always heard described as "post rock". This of course came out way before that term was coined though, with most "post rock" ideas starting in the mid to late 1990's and this coming out in 1974. When the vocals came in I was surprised but also not turned off by them. This is a strong 3 for me, like a 3.6 or 3.7.
Ok cool that happened.
Ok I guess maybe needs another listen
Uhhhhhhhhhh...what?? I kinda like it, but this is a weird one for sure. This album is comprised entirely of vibes, it doesn't really feel musical at all, it's more like 37 minutes of the weird, rhythmic but abstract intros to songs, and one song that sounds a lot more traditional in the middle of it. Even that song, "Moonshake" takes a solid 45 second break from singing to include various children's toys like kazoos and slide-whistles. I can't even begin to imagine what the recording process for this is like. It's like if they spent the whole time they were supposed to be writing the album doing copious amounts of acid, forgot they had to make a record that day, had one song planned, and then just kinda played random, discordant nonsense for the rest of the time while they stalled. Actually insane. But I kinda dig it.
It’s ok, I guess. Not much to it, to be honest, I barely remember it and I just listened to it. Decent background music, I suppose?
Not horrible, but I like the instrumentation but couldn't make out the vocals so they were rather distracting.
Can't dig it
"German experimental rock" - no, wait, come back a second. Enjoyable background noodling. Didn't exactly get the blood pumping and the juices flowing, but I feel my music knowledge as expanded a little bit further, and that alone is enough.
Percussion absolutely on fire throughout....the rest didn't really do much for me.
I liked it at the start but got a bit bored. I like a few can songs but not an album
I can hear why this was such an influence on Radiohead. I think it was ahead of its time. Almost a shame that they were overtaken by a load of other mediocre ambient/prog rock bands. This lot are trippy and hypnotic and deliciously mellow. A nice ride.
This was pretty cool, but hard to get too excited about.
Well I definitely wasn't expecting this of a 'rock' record. This has way more in common with freeform jazz than it does rock in my opinion, but I quite dig it. It's quite a chill time, with some nice playing. Moonshake was the standout track for me, which sadly was the shortest by some distance. The rest is quite experimental and strange, but nonetheless interesting.
Favorit Future days Moonshake
Trotsiga långa låtar. Men rätt ok.

Synthy. Could be good for working. Starts off a little weird
Interesting experimental electronic music. Use of the stereo sounds is really cool and I can see how amazing this would of been listening to it in 1973 when this came out. So unique. Lots of natural sounds
Krautrock that sounds like DUB.
As expected
survey says, its fine
I mean, it’s alright. Dunno if I needed a third Can record to listen to, but I didn’t hate it. It’s a groove.
As far as Avant Gard music goes, it was pretty good
Pretty cool, very short album - I liked the ambience
Not sure why it's on this list. Easy listening though.
I mean, it doesn't get any weirder than this. I love "Vitamin C" but don't love this album as much. Parts of it sound like when my nephews get into my brother-in-law's home studio and start messing around with the instruments.
Another first listen of a band never heard of…interesting. Can do? Can did.
Very mid. Predominantly instrumental. Wasn't pleasant nor unpleasant.
The Miles Davis equivalent of jam rock. I can dig it. Can you?
3.5
Can is cool. I think out of all the Can and Can Adjacent stuff so far I liked the solo album by the guy best. But this was a good time, I was driving around listening and said “Hell yeah” under my voice a few times.
This was one of the album listens of all time. I don't know how this album has made me feel at this moment but it seems to be more positive than negative. You could fall asleep at some moments and then be wildly intrigued at other moments. Take for instance the near 20 MIN song that was "Bel Air" it's exactly as it seems but mostly intriguing. I enjoyed this experience. As for the album, it's quite difficult to say. Top 2: Future Days and Bel Air No bad songs (maybe the first half of Spray but I still wouldn't consider the song itself bad) 3.0-3.5/5
Needed another listen after playing this in my car, not realizing there was only 4 songs, and feeling strange after it ended after 40 minutes. Also really struggled to get into the music. On second listen, it was slightly better though I kept feeling like Bel Air was over before dragging on for a few minutes more. I would say this music is not far from stuff I really like, but other than Moonshake and bits from the other songs it was tough to get into the album fully. I feel like it's a right-down-the-middle 3 for me.
Solid album. Songs are a little long for my taste, but not bad in comparison to similar entries.
3/5
5/10 sounds happened in an order that was neither offensive or breath taking 4-23-2025
I'm happy I read the comments ahead of time so I knew to focus on the drums
Similar albums back to back to back. 5.5/10
Beetje (lees: heel) raar. 2.7
Definitely interesting but I am not sure I want to add it to my library.
Jazz rock. Pretty boring. There’s probably something in here that’s new, original, unique, and inspiring, but I didn’t pick up on anything. Just background noise for the most part. Sorry. Inoffensive, though. 3/5
Really did not know what to expect, did not sound as if made in 70's more like 80's. Nice album to listen to.
Svoldið mikið ambient fyrir minn smekk, en rennur ágætlega í bakgrunni eins og gott ambient á að gera. Leita þetta þó ekki uppi aftur held ég.
Jammy and wierd I liked it
Hmm a standard Can experience: some of the good stuff revealed itself on first listen, but it really felt like it needed another 20 or so listens before it could really be unlocked. Moonshake is the most accessible track imho.
Weird shit.
Different. Interesting.
I was very surprised to see this band with another album on this list. Despite that, I liked this one a lot better than the last! Decent background music, nothing too crazy. 2.5 - round up.
Kinda neat
Great background music, but that's about it.
Have heard a lot ABOUT Can (particularly in the context of their inspiring a lot of the Nels Cline-era Wilco stuff,) but had never made an effort to listen. Glad I did, this is cool and I can totally hear how this inspired Tweedy et al.
Perhaps a bit too abstract and long-winded to hold my attention, but also many cool ideas coming from this one. 6/10
good but nothing outstanding, I enjoy the synth + guitar compination
Reminded me of a futuristic soundtrack for a Cheech & Chong movie. Super chill, with an almost Latin flair. The songs were super long but I really enjoyed this.
Made in the 70's, but this legitimately sounds like ambient/chill wave music released today. If you need some good background music, look no further.
I didn't hate this as much as the other album, but songs should not be over 10 minutes.
Liked it more than I expected to
I don't get it. Nothing against it, I just don't quite understand it. 5
Really good early jam band type stuff - or at least it was to me. I dug it.
I understand what they're going for but it's just a little too muted and single threaded.
Overall: 5/10 It feels weird that I didn't like this too much after loving Faust yesterday (it's been a krautrock weekend). I appreciate what Can is doing with their music but it's not pleasant for me to listen to beyond a few really great moments. Maybe I'll come back to it at some point cause I'm not sure why it didn't click with me. Fav Song: Future Days Least Fav Song: Spray
This isn't something I'd normally listen to, but I really enjoyed the spacey atmosphere. It felt a bit like being transported to the future. I'm not a music junkie, so I don't quite get the intricacies of this album, but I think I understand why it's on this list. 3.5 stars
Psychedelically pleasant listening. 3/5
I expected a futuristic album that sounded hilariously dated, but surprisingly it's not. You could have told me this was released this decade and I would have believed you.
3.4 5x
Day407 - i like the experimentation but not something i would return to
Nota: 2.7 y pongo 3.
Not what I was expecting at all. 17 minute song is a bit much.

I like this album because I like the beat and the drums. It has cool lyrics too.
Not smart enough for can Still enjoyed
Future Days 3.2 Spray 3.3 Moonshake 3.5 Bel Air 3.4 Score: 3.35
On first listen it made for some pleasant background music. I can see myself returning to this one.
Favorite Track: Moonshake
Nice chill musix
This wasn't bad. I feel like this is what someone the other experimental bands and their noise collages aspire to be. Very listenable.
Nice but didn't love it. Seemed like it would be a good movie soundtrack.
there’s a good cohesion here to the weird noise being made and so I enjoy it instead of not enjoying it, but it came close to the line a couple times
kind of groovy
Apparently there’s a lot of history going on here, and it was indeed good enough for me to want to delve into it.
Never heard of. Nice salsa beat, whispery voice. Good listenable music, cool for dancing. 3/5
Well, certainly not something I'll ever listen to again, but solid musicianship. This was better than expected given that I gave the other Can album on here a 1. 2.8
Background ambience, tense, like in a video game mid-game long level with lots of enemies but occasionally there are safe spots. Stand-out: Future Days
Didn't know what to expect. Future Days is relaxing, breezy with snatches of melody filtering through. Tropical vibes. Ambient rock? Spray has a much darker undercurrent at first, but is just as atmospheric. After the short Moonshake, Bel Air is a sprawling soundscape with strings and psychedelic melodies. Mostly unintelligible vocals, at times. Hard to tell how I feel about this, but I'd listen again.
Listening to it, I tried to imagine what time period it sounds like and it's really tough for me to place it. I love albums like that which seem to exist outside of time. I've been waiting to get into Krautrock, I still haven't heard any of Kraftwerk so I really have no reference point for German music. This was not at all what I was expecting. I had a more industrial vibe in my head associated with Kraftwerk so the soft sound of this album was a great surprise. I'm not sure how much I'd seek this to turn it on, but it was fantastic to have on in the background while I was working. Rating: 3.5
This is quite good , but it does kinda just fade in to the background. It's very very listenable Definitely way ahead of its time. You could tell me this is from 2025 and I'd believe you. Doesn't sound even slightly dated. I can see why it's been inspirational for others
Alright
Jammy and experimental, in a good way
I zoned out listening to this. 3/5.
Cool. Interesting. Ahead of it's time. 3.75
