Deloused in the Comatorium
The Mars VoltaA bit Muse-like in places. Nothing special.
A bit Muse-like in places. Nothing special.
I love the Zutons!
Not a must-have album
Epic!
Epic!
Not for me…
Not sure how this made it onto the list…
Dreadful album
Yawn.
Ok
Quite easy listening - not a classic but fairly middle of the road.
Quite relaxing - it gently washed over me…
Truly awful album.
Mmm…not my mug of coffee…
Great album - really impressed with this one!
Minimal talent here.
Fantastic - real musicians. After five seconds, it was clear this would be an excellent album.
Epic album! You can literally feel the time in which it was made.
Crap
Different!
If I was in the ‘60s, sat in a field, toting in a doobie, this album would have been awesome. However, today it felt dated.
Interesting…
Awesome album. Forgot how great it was, and how much the band then evolved over the years.
Not a greyProg fan but this was ok.
Wow - love this album!!! How cool is it?!? Knew within 5 seconds that it would be good, but not how good. ‘City, Country, City’ is superb!
Kill me now…what a pile of shite.
I quite like Billy Bragg - this was a decent enough album. Don’t feel the need to hear it again for a few years.
Mmm…different, I suppose.
Never listened to this before- loved it. Though of my good friend Nod, and I could see him dancing away to it!!
Fantastic! Have rediscovered Peter Gabriel.
Off the scale! An album of epic proportions, forged when giants truly ruled the planet.
Another incredible album this week. This is such an intricate piece of art - really like it.
Thought this album was pretty decent.
A bit too trippy for me…
I quite liked this.
Brilliant!
Like being immersed in your own adult film from the 1970’s…
Didn’t like it then, don’t like it now. Very…blaahh.
Is Vic Reeves singing on this album?!?
Immense!
Interesting - maybe a grower??
Mmm…average…
Very different and I think I quite like it! A bit wailing in places, but there’s some great Melodie’s in there as well.
A really interesting album - quite aggressive at points, and I liked it!
Much better than I remembered it to be.
Still not sure Dylan is my thing, but I can see his relevance in music culture.
Welcome to Jazz Club…
Do you know, it wasn’t bad. Would have got an extra star had it not been for the utter murdering of Norwegian Wood at the end… Unforgivable.
Far out…
Classic! (I was, momentarily, transported back to Daley Thompson advertising Lucozade…) Such a milestone of an album, laying the foundations for a band that’s still doing it over 49 years later.
A genre described as ‘Tango’ wouldn’t be my go-to, but I really liked this album. Great musicianship and layers of sound. Pretty decent!
Some genius blues plus a few disgust tracks - still a great body of work.
A bit Muse-like in places. Nothing special.
Dull as…
An album of its time, I think. Quite enjoyable and a band I hadn’t heard of.
I actually quite liked this album. I read about it in my fab book (Cheers, Pete!) and it kind of makes more sense. Pleasantly surprised.
Pretty classic stuff. You can almost smell the room with its ‘relaxing scent’…
Still one of the most impressive albums ever made. Absolute classic. ‘Shoot To Thrill’ is an absolute highlight. Having seen AC/DC a number of times, I can confirm they are world class!
Dreadful
Not sure I have the words for how bad this is…
You know what? I didn’t know this album and I was really hoping to be wowed by it. I wasn’t. Grunge dirge.
Really quite average.
Loved this! I ended up listening to it 3 times on the bounce. When you think if what was around at the time, I think this album is genius. Might just listen to it again.
Absolutely love this one!! Killer opening track…
What a beautiful album. I have never given it a second glance over the years so was massively impressed when I heard it.
Apart from a couple of commercial pieces of bubblegum pop, this album is blah, blah, blah…
Epic! Battery is a killer opener and from then on, nothing lets up. Orion is a really different track, highlighting the skills of Cliff Burton (played live it sounded awesome) and you can see why it’s considered a classic.
Not convinced…
Yawn…
A but trippy…
If o was stuck on a desert island and had only one album to listen to, it would be Dark Side Of The Moon. For me, it’s the most complete piece of audio artwork ever created. When I saw David Gilmour play at The Royal Albert Hall, I wanted to hear two songs specifically. One, obviously, was Comfortably Numb. The other was Breathe. I wasn’t disappointed by either. As a journey through our lives, this album sets out key themes (birth, death, money, aging…) and every time I listen to it, I hear something new. It’s so multi-layered and beautiful, and uplifting, and saddening. My all time go-to album.
Interesting - in some ways I quite like the multi-layered approach of the album and it was certainly slightly ahead of the curve at the time. (No need to revisit it, though…)
I’d never heard of DJ Shadow before but I was fascinated by this album. I listened to it 3 times and I want to hear it more.
I love the Zutons!
Wow!! What a stunning album! I believe this was Stevie Wonder’s 16th studio album, in 1973… It really dignified a change in America at the time - there’s a story about him taking journalists on a bus ride, blindfolded, so they could listen to the soundscape like he would, and then to listen to the album blindfolded as well. Intense stuff. Brilliant album.
For me, this is the album that showcases what Nirvana could have been…there are some beautifully stripped back songs on this album but you get the sense that Cobain was moving away from things. Hearing occasional sighs between tracks was definitely a sign of what was to come.
Fair play to the man who has 125 albums and holds a Guinness World Record for it. Let’s just say, this wasn’t for me.
Struggled with this one…
When you listen to Dre, you know what you’re going to get. Bitch.
Quite a pleasant listen.
The ultimate in a debut album. Gods of heavy metal.
After listening to this, I nearly did…
Some good tunes and a great throwback to the 80’s!
Beautiful album.
Aaah…George Michael…(I went to the same scout troop as him, I believe) Much missed - lovely album.
Mmm…nice background music
I quite liked this - not my usual choice but it was pretty decent.
Cool guy!
Loved this album - what a great (smooth) voice Al Green had!
Quite enjoyed revisiting this album after many years of not hearing it. I don’t feel the need to rush back to it, though.
I like a bit of punk from time to time. Bit too punky this time.
Fantastic album - and a great live act. I’ve seen them in concert quite a few times now and they don’t disappoint. Probably the best gig was in The Fleece & Firkin in Bristol, which only holds a couple of hundred people. Justin did some guitar solo while the rest of the band stood behind the bar, and I shook hands with Rufus Taylor! Spandex-tastic!!
Classic - one of the finest bands to come out of England. Love this.
The title says it all…
I had forgotten how good this album was. Certainly a turbulent time for the band so when Mutt Lange became the producer (I believe) they were in safe hands. Seven big hits off the album - some achievement! I still have the CD that I bought as soon as it came out, with cuttings from rock magazines at the time! Must dig it out and have a read sometime…
Some wonderful songs on what is a bizarrely constructed album. So odd, it seems to work. I think…
Funky - not sure what else to say…. Not heard of it before. Love the title of track 4 - Supergroovalisticprosifunkstication!
Such a cool album! Must have been mind blowing to hear it for the first time!!
Well…thank you for this one! Would never have played anything like this before, and I’m glad I did!
Not my cup of tea.
Never heard of them. Hoping to forget them.
Enjoyed this.
I can genuinely appreciate the talent that the musicians on this album have. But…I let it okay out like background music as it didn’t do much for me, personally. If it’s your thing, fill your wellies.
Genius. Not always the easiest listen, but what a pioneer.
Great talent and there are actually a number of very good tracks on the album. I appreciate Mike Oldfield’s musical ability, however…some tracks feel dated and rather cheesy now. (Pop that one back on the shelf for a while…)
Good to hear a proper Elvis album. This was recorded, I believe, post-army and there are some wonderful blues tracks on it, Elvis almost going back to grass roots. Really like it.
Absolutely love this album - such a unique band and some banging tunes. Whenever I’ve tried to sing like Anthony Kiedis, I sound more like Vic Reeves, club singer!!
Quite enjoyed this.
Pass.
Le Hip-Hop François… ce n’est pas pour moi.
Rather boring…
