old German prog
Immensely captivated by the drums for every second of the runtime. This is awesome for '73 and sounds like something I'd expect from a mid-2010s australian psych-rock band. Missing just a little bit of punch, but still really stellar.
I can definitely tell why this is on the list. Does sound like the future especially for 1973. So much going on here with the interesting instrumentation and the waxing and waning the songs do. You could make an entire plunderphonics record only using this album. Favorite songs were Future Days and Moonshake.
This felt like a precursor to aphex twin at points and it was pretty alright. Nothing wildly interesting but I enjoyed listening for half an hour or whatever. 70s ambient/super psych rock.

It turns into background music which then turns into nothing. Music isn’t meant to be nothing but Can sure made it happen
It was better than I expected. It was kinda nice and vibey good background music. I really didn’t think this was anything too spectacular so I don’t really know why this was on the list but whatever. I do wish the last song wasn’t almost 20 minutes long that’s just too long.
another experimental rock album & another one that I just don't get why is really on here. a strange nearly 20 minute track that just rambles on..... only positive is that the music just became blah background noise & I quit really paying attention to it.
This album was trippy- and much like an acid trip, it went on far longer than I would have liked.
I tried to listen to it, but it soon became pleasant background music. Nevertheless an interesting prog/experimental/kraut/space rock piece.
# Playlist track - Moonshake # Notes - This is a *really* cool album. There are some very endearing moments and you get really get lost into the nonsensical vocals and the flowing instrumentals. - The opening track, Future Days, reminds a lot of [[Air, Moon Safari]] - Definitely recommend to listen to this at least a couple of times. - Having the fact that it was released in '73 in perspective makes it even more interesting.
This album passed me by, even when I was listening to it. Didn't really grip me at any point.
Really enjoyed just letting this album wash over me. Got into a solid groove most of the time, with a only a fee sections that dragged on a bit.
Second CAN album, I enjoy this but it unfortunately becomes just background music for me. That being said, it’s amazing that this futuristic stuff was made this early. Certainly deserving of its place on the list 3.25/5

🎧I’ve dipped into Tago Mago in the past and while I find it cool/interesting, it’s also a bit…challenging. This is Can after all, legends of experimental Krautrock. Future Days has a much chiller vibe. Not so busy. More ambient. I will be returning to the hypnotic 20-minute gem that is Bel Air.
Another band I've wanted to get more into for a while. I think I listened to this one once at work, but Ege Bamyasi is the one on my to-listen list. I'm fucked in the head, so I love me some experimental music. Not a ton of substance here, but I enjoy the vibes. Light 4
Proggy psychedelic instrumental music. Really enjoyed spray which sounded a lot like battles with the driving drums making it energetic, found the other tracks to be listenable but less interesting. Impressive given when it was released but I don't think I'd go back.
On the long side. Moonshake was good. Pretty cool considering how old it is, and I liked the production, sounds clean but still "thrown together".
I enjoyed this, I would say it largely passed me by, but it sounded good. Definitely has aged well, would not have placed it as being made over 50 years ago. Not much more to add, very nice, chilled mellow rock album 3

A kosmische musik classic! Not Can’s best album all in all (the competition is tough as nails), but when this album hits right there’s not much that hits that spot.

This was pretty interesting. The songs had a real slow build which I liked. Something I would want to listen to again to catch more of what's going on. 3/5
I listened to this already and gave it a 2 then. I figured it was worth another listen, and sadly, it's still a 2. It isn't bad, but I don't understand what it's going for or why it exists. 2/5

“Future Days” is a fitting title - this album sounds ahead of its time. Fantastic drums. The title track was probably my favorite. Really chill and pleasant overall. I’m not sure whether to give this 3 or 4 stars; it’s around 3.5, but it didn’t really leave enough of an impression to prompt me to round up.

I guess in the 70s this was ahead of its time, but in 2024 its fine. Inoffensive and decent background music while I do other things
Future Days is the fourth studio album by Can, originally released in 1973. Working through this list has introduced me to Can, and they have quickly become one of my favorite discoveries. Future Days sees the band move in a more spacey direction, utilizing their instruments to create more ambient feels within the songs. The record only contains 4 tracks, with the final track being an over 20 minute long jam! The rhythm section really makes this band - the bass and drums are so locked in throughout the whole record. There are lots of moments on here that remind me of one of my other favorite bands, the Grateful Dead. The influence is especially prominent in the guitar tones, specifically on the second track "Spray".
Weirdly forgettable somehow. I've never really listened to Can, but I know they influenced lots of bands that I'm very fond of. I got the connection, and I think it's pretty good, but it hasn't done anything to me deep inside.

not my style of music, didn't enjoy
It was okay. I could really groove with parts of it. But largely it failed to capture my attention.
Glorious stuff. Worked very well burbling away in the background whilst I slaved over a hot laptop. If you were ingesting heroic amounts of hallucinogens back in the day (or maybe even now!) this probably sounded incredible. As things stand, even without mental enhancements, this is a warm, questing, floaty slice of psych that I will absolutely want to listen to again.
I like Can. Very good album.

Curious. I was thinking about this band just yesterday, despite having never heard their music before. The album itself is also curious, in that, despite the tracks being really long, they kind of pass by almost unnoticed. I think there is something interesting going on, particularly in the gossamer thin vocals and airy textures of the title track, but after three listens I still haven't unearthed further treasures or really worked out what they were aiming at. I won't give this album the benefit of the doubt with my rating but I will reserve judgement on Can as a whole, as I suspect this record isn't the most appropriate introduction to them.

What was yet another phenomenal achievement in the dizzy dizzy career of Can wound up becoming the final chapter in a six part story. Although not as thoroughly explosive and innovative as the prior two albums, Future Days upholds an atmospheric calm that feels just as impactful. Can's increasingly noticable aptitude for crafting pop melodies are sandwiched between the bookending sonic adventures and it does not take away from the overall goal of the record, which was to present another side of the group that was often given in small doses. Ultimately, whether intentional or not, Future Days ended up becoming the beginning of the end for Can as the soon-to-be influential pillar of the new German motorik/kosmische scene for they would wade through uncharted waters that got murky in passage. Yet this is still an essential document that showcased why being in a German band in the 1970s was an exciting place to be for the sake of future days.

Good album. I actually really liked these weird experimental prog-y sound textures. The title track is the best. It was a fun listen, but nothing that moved me beyond a solid 3 stars. ***
Something different...much needed after a week of dross. Experimental without being OTT. First 3 tracks were pleasant but not really stand out, final 20min saga was where the album really came to light though. One to listen to again another time. 3.5*
I'm absolutely sure that this album, as well as the rest of Can's catalog, clicks instantly with certain people, but I've only discovered Can's album is a sonic groove that goes over my head with every initial listen. To combat this, I've basically tuned myself so that I can expect to listen to any of their releases multiple times before I fully form any opinion. Yes, Tago Mago's length does scare me with this ruleset, and yes, I realize I should be doing that with most albums, that's a flaw I'm willing to acknowledge, but I will do very little to fix it, and for that I apologize. But I digress, once I get over this first listen hurdle, that's when I know the fun is truly about to begin, and this album does not disappoint. In fact, I would say in general that it absolutely blew my expectations out of the water, with that repetitive yet hypnotizing beat sucking me in almost instantly once I had accepted my fate, and under that spell I was album to see this album for its subdued attempts of making sure the listener is just having a good time. Yes, it may be niche in its exterior presentation, but on the inside you discover a perfect blend of the naturalistic sounds of the jungle with the robotic discotheque found on every street in the year 3000. You may have to sift around a little for those truly magnificent nuggets, until you realize you've been panning for gold on a river of the stuff. Every note, every decision, the correct one. An album to make you dance, an album to make you lay in bed and contemplate, and maybe an album to make you (awkwardly) do both. What I'm saying is this may not be the near perfect psych-pop showcase that is their Ege Bamyası project, but it still goes somewhere beyond that. I'm entranced, and I'm loving every second of it.

This album is for sure more interesting and pleasant than their other album we had the misfortune to rate, Tago Mago. Still, it's not interesting enough to be memorable and pleasant only gets you so far. Just minutes after the album ended, I couldn't really remember what it sounded like anymore.
Enjoyed this more than expected. Quite pleasant although a little too abstract. Unlikely to listen to it again but thank you for the opportunity to listen! 2.5

Hmmm I already knew Holger Czukay but I didnt know he was in this band. This album kind of tells a story? It really sparks your imagination, you can visualise a whole world around this album. Though I like Holger Czukay on his own better..? I think..? This was definitly an experience worthwile
prog quite boring
Surprisingly entertaining.
Killer. This was my first listen of this brilliant album, and I had a lot of fun. I heard shades of a number of prog alternative bands in this music, which almost led me to give it a five star rating. I hear Sonic Youth, Talking Heads, flavors of shoegaze, and even jam bands. Bel Air drags a bit but is a great car song. Will listen again and look for a vinyl copy. Four stars.
I liked it. Interesting sounds. Quite experimental. Not enough to conjure a particularly strong emotional connection, hence a 3 rather than a 4, but I’d happily explore more of their discography
You can be part of something, you can try and break into something, or you can be outside all of it, trying to create your own thing. If you’re a band like Can, you run the risk of being revered as “influential” which ends up being its own kind of label and its own version of prison you’ll never break free of because you built it yourself. But you have to know that in advance when you put 4 songs on a record, only one of which, “Moonshake,” clocks in at a digestible length—and even that one’s weird. Of course they’re German. And from the ‘60s. That makes them brave, fearless, and maybe a little dumb, or at least out of touch with the zeitgeist. This record came out the same year as “Dark Side of the Moon,” “Quadrophenia,” and “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” all of which have some trippy concepts, stretched out instrumentals, and embrace at least a basic level of experimentation. But the difference is, they had songs, songs with singable choruses, songs that could be played on the radio. Hats off to Can for pursuing their own thing, but they didn’t stand a chance of making much of a dent in pop culture.

Even the though the songs don't always go somewhere, I love the mood and always found this more engaging than tago mago.
It was fine, mostly just very long kinda instrumental rock.
Very trippy/trancey. Reminds me a bit of that more modern/electronic Tanto Tempo record this site just reccommended. Crazy that it came out in the 70s it feels super ahead of it's time for that reason. Bands like Animal Collective definitely seem to carry this style of torch with the really trippy jams. With the technology they're working with at the time I can't imagine how crazy this must've been to record/just how generally wild it sounds. 5 stars for being super unique sounding still to this day. Future Days really is an apt title.

Lovely. Never heard of them but it’s great. Very chill, but upbeat and does not sound dated to me hardly at all.
Every time I hear a Can tune I love it. This is no different. Some music is era defining. Can's music is era defying. It always sounds like the future. But not in a 'Oooh electrnonic' way. The structure, the vibes, the instrumentation ... everything sounds like it was put together after today. I can even forgive the ridiculously long tunes where they seemingly just couldn't be bothered to stop the tape machine.
Had the album on shuffle so prob didn’t listen to it the right way . I don’t know how I feel about it . It’s music I guess .

Je n'avais jamais entendu parler de ce groupe de ma vie et quelle découverte !! J'ai vraiment adoré le délire à la Syd Barrett teinté d'inspirations world. Vraiment beaucoup de plaisir à écouter cette voix à peine perceptible, feutrée, posée sur ces rythmes et sons étranges. Je me suis retrouvée définitivement hors du temps durant ces 40 minutes de rock progressif ultra minimal. Merci pour la méditation, je réécouterai !
Really interesting to see another band that heavily influenced LCD
this album is something. it's like an experimental ambience music but without actually being ambient. It's actually nice for studying/focus, but It's not a "good" album from a jam in the car and rock out standpoint.
So good, I'd maybe underappreciated this in the past - rock solid throughout and possibly their most consistent album
Ambient prog noise
This is the sort of weird, wacky, prog stuff I've been holding out for. It's layered, atmospheric, and (as I kept noticing throughout the album) sonically well ahead of its time. An argument could be made that the aptly-named Future Days is more musically progressive than The Dark Side Of The Moon, another 1973 album commonly touted as one of the crowning achievements of prog rock. Only having four tracks is a little risky in a musical world where bite-sized tracks are the standard. And yet, Can definitely justifies the long runtime of some of these. Bel Air, the monstrous 20-minute epic closing the album, is a spiralling trip where synths, bass, and drum calmly take turns absolutely shredding – but in a trippy, relaxed manner. (In fact, all four tracks could probably be described like this, but Bel Air was the standout.) I wasn't particularly focused while listening to the album, but even so, I found myself drawn to the bass in particular. I'm all about it. Very post-psychedelic. The 9-and-a-half-minute title track, Future Days, is also really strong, though I don't have much memory of it. I guess the primary flaw of the album is that none of the tracks really stand out from the others, even though the feeling of listening to them is very memorable. 4/5 Key tracks: Future Days, Bel Air
3/5. The Germans really like their extended instrumentals passages, don't they? Thankfully, I like most of it too as well. It's not quite beautiful or aggressive, more anxious and scared, like it doesn't really know where it wants to go and just holds you there as well. Throwing the vocals way in the background makes it seem more like an instrument than something I need to pay attention to. It was a nice listening experience but nothing breathtaking, just an interesting atmosphere to wade in for the time being. Best Song: Future Days, Bel Air
I'm not sure why (probably my own silly prejudices) but I expected a really dark sounding album with industrial textures. But it was actually a very breezy album with a tropical feel. There's only 3 lengthy tracks and a shorter one called 'Moonshake'. Although the tracks have a repetitive nature, there's enough movement and variations to keep me engaged. It's jazz/soundtrack/floyd vibe is very cool and although it was recorded in1973, it sounds modern. This would be a perfect album to listen to sunbathing on the beach, and it probably explains why the Germans always look so relaxed :)

Not sure what I was expecting (more prog rock nonsense maybe?) but this was great, really sat well with my morning.
What a delight. Proper band work, varied and tight. I listened as I walked through sunny fields and a birdsong overdub is recommended for the next remastered release!
Sounds way more modern than 1973, so yeah it was Future Days alright. Quite surprised how good it was. An optimistic 4 from me.
I thought an interesting song came on but it turned out to be Spotify automatically skipping to a Wire song after the album was over.

I'm at a level of music pretentiousness these days where I should LOVE can, but I'm sorry, I do not get it (except for Vitamin C). Like this more than Tago Mago cause it doesn't have 20 minutes of psychedelic noise in the middle of the album, but I just don't get it.

Once again, thanks to this list I discovered a band I heard of through a full listen to an album and became mesmerized. After listening through twice, I jumped into some other albums by Can and will be adding their short discography to my listening schedule. 5/5

its like detailed elevator music. unfortunately i dont like elevator music. i prefer tago mago but i didnt enjoy that one much either. i think im too stupid for this because i just find it boring. very low 6/10
I did have to fastfoward this a little juuuust to make sure it wasn't just a bunch of random noise, but it transitioned into a very diggable beat and just for a moment I am reminded of the song Jungle Walk by Asterix. Then it went into some very diggable jazzy rock. Quite nice. I like em. Not sure why they are on the list without more historical context. Good enough I played them while I worked around the house and noticed when the next album came on. Solid 3.5-4. Will listen to some other Can. Which is why I'm here
Second album by Can on this lost, also second with Damo Suzuki at the vocals, although he is the most forgettable part of the band. But what I learnt by listening to this record, is that Can might be my favourite band from the 70s. I have no idea why it is sometimes labelled as Krautrock, when the only thing in common with this genre is the country of origin. For me this is the quintessential psychedelic sound. When I think of psych rock, I think "Bel Air" from now on. Amazing album, great band, criminally underrated (because I have never heard of them before).

I quite enjoyed side one, but the exactly 20 minute side two track was meandering and bleh. The vocals were buried so deep, presumably on purpose, but that didn’t work for me. Side one a 4, side two a 1, but I’ll give this a roundup to 3.

Fascinating long form jam album with the final track going nearly 20 minutes. Hard to describe, but it almost reminds me of an extended electronic piece that you might hear today. Everything is structured and somewhat predictable where it goes. A nice album to listen to while working or relaxing.

Many people citing the last track as the stand out, but that one really didn’t hold my interest. The first one was my favorite. I had never heard of this band. It’s unique, but I eventually lost some interest and it became a bit of background music.

Good fun. 1 minute 40 in I thought I was listening to Moon Safari by Air. Awesome rhythmic work - did run a bit proggy and would work better as an instrumental album. In 1974 this would be a great contrast to the trite Americana coming out in that era.

OK. Well, if you're into ambient jazz, this is a decent listen. Clearly talented players keeping it smooth. I guess you could call it somewhat experimental, and it's easy enough to give a spin to. But hardly earth changing stuff.
All I CAN say is: * CANNOT figure out the genre * CANNOT understand the lyrics * CANNOT say I liked it or disliked it I'd had enough when the COLOGUARD advert came on to end it. 1.5 / 5

very interesting listening experience
Maybe I'm being too quick to judge, but overall this was just a boring album. There are some bright spots, but I definitely did not NEED to hear this one...
Whimsical, fun jams
This was a very out there album. In 1973 I imagine this was what people thought going to the moon would sound like. Occasional glimpses of something that sounds like music.

Loved this. Dreamy, atmospheric and incredibly forward-thinking music that glides elegantly between a laid back vibe and escalating moments of tension. Brilliantly textured, with some the best uses of percussion ever put to record. Fave Songs (All songs, from most to least favorite): Future Days, Moonshake, Spray, Bel Air

I think Damo Suzuki died 5 days ago. Can got the respect they did, at least in part, because they could be funkier and more emotional than most Kosmisscherock bands. Really good stuff.
Why would you listen to this album, unless you are high.
I've got to be real honest, I have no idea what I just listened to. If you asked me to tell you what genre this was, I wouldn't be able to. If you asked me what any of the songs were about, I'd be at a complete loss. If you asked me to hum any part of any of the songs that I heard, I'd be completely incapable. I don't know what this was. It was music, I can tell you that. But I can't tell you anything more than that. And that, in the end, is a significant strike against this album. It's unmemorable, unclassifiable, unsingable, and ultimately unremarkable.

Best Song: Spray. I dunno. It moved and shook a bit more than the others? Worst Song: Moonshake. I mean, at least commit to a full album of sprawling prog. Don't insert a normal song smack dab in the middle. Overall: Very medium. Lots of it is directionless prog, but at least it doesn't waver into those obliquely experimental trends that are noisy or erratic just for chaos-sake. Okay for occasional background listening.

This was great. Usually on this website I get albums everyone's heard of a million times, but this one was unexpected. Never heard of them, the music was weird, but awesome. It was a journey, an experience, not always enjoyable, but at least it left an impression, which a lot doesn't. Sounds like it could be from a contemporary band. Confusing, sometimes uplifting, sometimes oddly sinister, like a version of utopia from 1984. Good stuff - I'll probably never listen to it again.

This was kind of a fun vibe! When I hear the term krautrock, I don’t really have much of a frame of reference so I assume it’s just very on the nose guitar based stuff. But this was much more nuanced and chill. Great background music that enhances whatever you’re doing at the time
Het begin klinkt heel erg als Roller Coaster Tycoon muziek. Sowieso heeft dit hele album maar 4 nummers!?!??! Bijzonder, erg bijzonder. Ik hoor vocals ergens op de achtergrond, kan het niet verstaan, maar das ook niet de bedoeling denk ik. FAVO: Ik kan niet echt een nummer kiezen eerlijk gezegd, het loopt allemaal in elkaar over. Ik heb een beetje het Pink Floyd probleem met dat ik met mn ogen dicht aan het luisteren ben en niet actief nummers er uit haal. Dit is gewoon een soort gigantische trip waarin ik beland ben en dat op een dinsdag in kantoor help ok misschien vind ik Moonshake een lekker nummer omdat dat een nummer is, maar kom op een nummer dat 20 minuten duurt is niet echt een nummer meer, das meer een album. Zo voelt dit eigenlijk allemaal, dit zijn geen losse nummers alles hoort bij elkaar en is een album, ik zie geluid momenteel man, trip m hard

Apart from the odd track I’ve heard on radio or has appeared on a streaming algorithm I’ve never been bothered by Can. So I welcomed this opportunity to listen constructively to a Can album. It was OK but nothing more than that. Not inspired enough to seek out any other Can album or purchase their music. My overall impression was that the record was an extended jam session. Very enjoyable to Can themselves but becoming tedious to me after a short time. As background music its OK but not worthy of inclusion on this list.

Huh... It's very well done. The entire album is so chill but intricate. I don't have much respect for soundscapes for their own sake. It feels like serving me sauce on a plate and calling it a meal. However, this is done very well. All four tracks are interesting and different from each other. I can also hear the influence they've had on Radiohead which was an incredibly formative band for me. Also incredibly impressed that this album is from 1973. It could be a sound cloud release from this year and I wouldn't bat an eye. Ultimately, I think that last sentence is what keeps it from five stars. This is well made music, but I don't think it's any better than any other good soundscape-y artists. It's more of a wash of sounds than a moving piece of music. I had a roommate in college who was/is a monster of a musician. His side hustle was getting stoned out of his mind and putting together ambient tracks for commercials and video games. Future Days sounds a lot like that music. It sounds good, but I can't take it for anything more than background music.
Almost like a 70s pre-curser to Psych and Doom Metal, just without the high gain. In the realm of King Krimson or if Pallbearer was born in the 60s
Can is a German, experimental rock band that produced beautiful, mesmerizing soundscapes. The tracks on Future Days have an atmospheric, ethereal quality, with a richness that comes from impressive musicianship and intricate composition. The complexity of their work supports their longer tracks; "Bel Air" clocks in at almost twenty minutes. Can was clearly influential; it is not surprising that Radiohead notes that Can was an influence. Can's music also seems like a precursor to a number of electronic music styles.
This was well done "ambient" music. I didn't hear anything I would consider groundbreaking but I appreciated the composition, arrangement, and production of the album. You can just sit and let this music wash over you.

I did love this and the amospheres it created. It's much less "crazy" than Tago Mago (should I say "eclectic" instead?) but that was just fine with me today. A perfect album for a Sunday afternoon.
This was a new and pleasantly interesting listen for my ears today.

Can more like Can’t listen to this anymore. This really wasn’t that terrible of an album it just was relatively boring. The long experimental prog rock songs had no obvious start or finish and when the album ended it was unnoticeable. Overall just a collection of sounds for 40 minutes. 4.0/10

I’m pretty lukewarm on this one. There's only so much experimentation I can appreciate before I need something a bit mainstream to hit me. I don’t care for vocal mixing being so far back, especially for as sparse as it is. This just felt so drum heavy all the way through. That said, I did like the transition about halfway through the final track. I wish it would’ve led to a bigger payoff. We built up to something across all four tracks but never really got anywhere.
This sounds like the future no matter what days you call your own.
this album both does and doesn't seem like it would've come out in 1973! future days seems hard to pin into one genre, too. experimental, electronic, ambient. it was a weird but calming sound? the album sounded way more like it came out closer to 2024, but also i can hear how at home it is in the 1970s with that experimental, electronic sound. can is definitely a contemporary of kraftwerk! the vocals, for what it's worth, are muted and not even that intriguing. the instrumentals are, by far, more fascinating! the intro to the album is so distorted and uneasy. can had so much more of a command over their instruments rather than their vocals.
A very unique and ambient album! As far as the type of ambient music I was expecting to hear from an album put out in the 70s, it certainly defied my expectations! The slow, haunting build up of the opening of the first track piqued my interest almost immediately. While it didn't necessarily blow me away, I found it to be a fascinating album!

It's less iconic and recognizable than their classic album Tago Mago but it's easier to get lost in. You may find that you even start dancing to it unconsciously.

I love the krautrock, and krautrock doesn't get much better than this. I still prefer Tago Mago (which I find a little more focused), but this album is full of goodness.

Certainly experimental. Excellent drumming and style. I always appreciate artists pushing the boundaries of genre and innovating their sound, and they definitely CAN.
Such a fun, breezy, light, and chill album. Especially considering it comes from a german experimental rock band. This album always makes me think of drifting down the river in a tube late in the summer.
I think this is everything I want in an album. Groovy, goofy, and glorious! I'll be revisiting this often. 5 stars!
I hate this stupid band. I don't know if I'd call it pretentious but it'd annoying. Not all weird shit is bad but it's definitely not necessarily a plus either. Please, no more albums from them. 2 is way too many. Actually 1 is too many and that is what it gets. Bleh.

seems to be only the 1973 release of this album, but i have NEVER heard of this band before. *can* they live up to the hype? (haha) track 1, future days: starting off with the titular song, works for me. the start to this is very... wet? yeah, wet. i enjoy the percussive rhythm that starts about 90 seconds in, although the first three minutes is mostly nature sounds - you could very easily start exactly three minutes in and lose nothing important. a very casual listen! 4.5/10 track 2, spray: also extremely low-engagement (in a good way), a nice track to have on in the background while you're paying attention to something else. 5/10 track 3, moonshake: much more upbeat (as in, the beat is faster) in comparison to the prior two. it seems they were throwing in a lot of perhaps underused sounds into this album, as a lot of the random sounds feel like they are here just to fill a space. 5/10 track 4, bel air: if the first three songs of this album were roughly 21 minutes of mostly the same, you can bet that this is 20 more minutes of decent background music. 5/10 overall: 4.9/10 -> 2/5, this album is generally inoffensive but like. why though. i feel like i just wasted 40 minutes of my life by listening to this but at least i was doing something else while i did

It wasn’t annoying, but really just background music for me.
There were more mind-blowing elements in the other Can offering on this list. I found this album to be a poor man’s Gorillaz, unadorned by rap or the electronic treasures of the 21st century. Interesting but unrealised. A rap outro could’ve saved this, I think, but of course, it wasn’t really on offer in 1973.

Moonshake is the kind of song that, if you’re listening on headphones and aren’t careful, you will find yourself dancing without abandon to in public. It will be hard to find an album with more invigorating drumming on this list.
