Clearly a “1,001” album. The trio of Parton, Emmy Lou Harris and Linda Ronstadt is as powerful as they come. The rendition of “To know him is to love him” is among the best. “Making Plans” was my favorite! All time classical Album to be sure!

Great songs sung by three great voices with beautiful harmonies. Perfect record.

I unlike it as much as I was expecting. I can't say they don't have a point.

Felt the braid untwist a bit, but aside from that some great traditional country. Excellent, distinct voices, pedal steel and not a whole lot of other sonic craziness, some wistful song choices.

Nice easy listening music.

This album is one I have never listened to before (I’m not that much of a country fan), but it is good. Each of the girls’ voices blend really well together, and the harmonies sound amazing. 4.8/5 Favorite: “Wildflowers”, “Hobo’s Meditation” Least Favorite: “Telling Me Lies”

It's alright - some good harmonising - but instrumentally it's very straightforward and doesn't give the listener much to latch onto. Extremely simple percussion appears in a couple of tracks, which end up being the highlights of the album for that reason. Most other tracks are guitars and vocals, and the songs sound quite similar to one another as a result. I guess this was meant to be a lyrics-focused album, but the lyrics aren't particularly strong either. Still, the general vibe/mood is positive and carefree (to an extent). I can appreciate that. look, i mean you have three of the best country singers of the 20th century singing together. it cannot get better than this. this album has the best harmonies you have ever heard. sometimes the material they cover is a little less than desired, but the pure beauty of these three voices together is enough to carry any song.

I did not realize Dolly was chill like this. I was unfamiliar with her game.

jag bli mer och mer konfunderad kring valet av skivor från vissa artister. Skulle beskriva mig som ett ganska stort dolly-parton-fan. Så pass stort att jag betalat för att se henne live och skulle kunna betala dyra pengar för att göra det igen. Hon är en bra sångerska men fra en av världens bästa låtskrivare. Denna skiva är inte representativ för det. Hon har bara skrivit två av låtarna. Jag förstår inte riktigt varför denna skiva platsar öht. Det är aldrig dåligt, det är ju inte möjligt med tanke på de inblandades enorma talang. Men det är heller inte riktigt bra.

Dolly har ju en av världens bästa röster. Helt otrolig. Men detta album är otroligt tråkigt. Alltså jättetråkigt. Snark. Inte dåligt dock. Men urbota trist.

Det är ju helt okej det här, de sjunger bra och sånt. Men det gör inte så mycket med mig tyvärr, det är för likriktat och ospännande (kanske beror på min egen ignorans). Svag trea för själva hantverket håller ändå hög kvalitet.

I'd never heard of this album until looking over the full 1001 albums list, and I've been anxiously waiting to have it assigned to me, because it sounded like an awesome concept. I was really hoping that this would be a five star album for me, but unfortunately, it fell a little short. Right off the bat, "The Pain of Loving You" was fantastic, with its banjo riff and amazing harmonies. Musically, that was easily the best track on the album. The vocals were outstanding throughout the album, and the lyrics were great too. I loved that each of the featured artists got the chance to sing lead vocals, and all three of them sounded fantastic together. As great as the vocals and lyrics were, for me, the album just never came close to reaching that high that kicked it off. This was really good album, and I'm glad I got to listen to it, but it just fell short of being great for me.

When I was a kid my parents took me and my brother to a lot of Gilbert and Sullivan productions. Around the same time, Linda Ronstadt starred in a movie version of The Pirates of Penzance alongside Rex Smith, Kevin Kline, and Angela Lansbury. I must have watched it a million times. So to my mind, Linda Ronstadt is exclusively a Gilbert and Sullivan singer. I am constantly surprised that she has a whole other life in music, even though my husband has a minor obsession with her and brings her up occasionally when he talks to me about his love for - gag - 60s and 70s pop music. Yesterday when we had the Eagles, for instance, he had to talk to me about how the Eagles used to sing backup for her and how she sings back up for them on their albums. He’s played me her Rock and Roll Hall of Fame performances and talked about how she had to retire early. But none of this changes my perception of her as a Gilbert and Sullivan singer. So I got a little jolt again with this album - what’s Linda Ronstadt doing here? The Pirates of Penzance is deeply channeled into my brain, apparently. As for the album, beautiful voices, gorgeous harmonies, great instruments, love Dolly Parton. But I doubt I’ll listen again.

This turned me into an atheist. Or alchemist. Or whatever the term is that means I'd really like to fuck Linda Ronstadt. Or Emmylou Harris, which I believe some comic referred to as Gram Parsons disease. Whatever. I share a birthday with Dolly Parton. That used to mean something. I find Dolly to be a better actress than singer. Oh, you want a hotter take? Her best performance was in On Golden Pond. Great, now I'm confusing Dolly for Jane Fucking Fonda. Or maybe Dabney Coleman. If I end up masturbating to Dabney Coleman instead of Dolly's jugs I'm just going to run with it. Good Lord these are some strong ass shrooms. My mother was right. Never kiss a rodeo clown. As Dolly would say in her Oscar winning role as Klute, Here You Come Again. And here I go.

Was like the same sad country song for what seemed like forever

I don't love it, but I do like it. I mean, this is pretty top tier harmonizing. The songs don't get my heart pumping but the craftsmanship is worth the listen.

You know a word I rarely ever use? Winsome. Feels like it's apt here. This is a winsome album. Perhaps also a dab saccharine and a mite twee, but pleasant enough. They know how to harmonise, for sure. Unconvinced that this is an essential listen though.

How can something that sounds this pretty have an album cover that is that ugly? Jeeeeezus. That is horrid. That aside, I found this to be a very pleasing album to listen. I played in my car, which is probably not ideal, but it did sound very good overall and it’s hard to argue that these three voices just work very well together. Even their vibrato at times seemed to be in perfect unison, which I’m guessing is quite tricky to do. “To Know Him is to Love Him” is a stand out, as is “I’ve Had Enough” and that clarinet swell that came out of nowhere. But come on - you’ll never hear a prettier song with the word “Hobo” in the title than “Hobo’s Meditation.” And that’s just the facts, Jack.

I'll just repeat myself - Dolly Parton is a great human being, a very good singer and an icon of country music. I just can't listen to this genre at all. It's just too much. Sorry

Like a lot of roots music in the 1980s, this sounds awful by modern standards. I think it's the sound of the instruments but either way it's bad.

I really enjoyed this listen. It made my morning commute much more enjoyable. It also has prepared me for the American music I'll be hearing all over Silver Dollar City this weekend. The two ballads by Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris were out of place on this record.

Their harmonies are great, but it's kind of a one trick pony. By the final quarter of the album I'm not sure if I've heard distinct songs or just one long piece of music because all the songs have the same tempo, instrumentation, and harmonies. It's blends very well, but almost too well. Can an album be too cohesive?

De bekende Amerikaanse country-klanken. Prima gezongen door de drie dames, maar al gedateerd toen het uitkwam.

Countrysmartlappen ja, mooi woord. Prachtige harmonieen, mandoline op de achtergrond, slide guitar erbij voor de snik. Het gaat mij alleen net wat te traag allemaal, zelfs zo op de vroege ochtend. Maar dat komt misschien omdat ik nog vol adrenaline zit van een heerlijke pot volleybal van gisteravond, die meer tot de verbeelding sprak dan dit album. Er staat denk ik geen 1 nummer op dat ik over een uur nog herken. Al doen ze er verder ook niemand kwaad mee, prima om dit met een fles whisky bij een knisperend haardvuur in Kentucky aan te horen. Toch rond ik het af naar beneden, het beklijft allemaal te weinig en ik ben blij als het album afgelopen is, zodat ik wat anders op kan zetten.

Three excellent singers, of course, harmonising beautifully. However, I wasn't too impressed by the selection of songs. The first 3 or 4 tracks made for a slow start of the album, after which things start picking up. Telling me Lies and Those Memories of You save the album for me.

3 of the great ladies of country

Three legends come together and basically do covers and country standards. Great voices, but kind of disappointing due to the lack of new material.

Despite my hatred for country, Dolly is the one person I can tolerate. Her voice is genuinely enjoyable. I would almost consider giving a 4, but I think in comparison to everything it can’t be that high.

Country is almost as "un-preferential" a genre that I can find, mostly because the musical construction of the songs are always so predictable to me. Also - hey, sue me - I don't like the too-often overly twangy vocal dialects. So there has to be something different - vastly different - for me to even make it through an album. As we go deeper into this list I have found some subtle country dividing lines - most notably that I *vastly* prefer women singers here. And on this album Dolly Parton especially shines - she's someone whose music I'd never sought out but she really is a fantastic singer to listen to (especially that I generally don't care for most singers). Something about her voice that even though she's clearly got a beautiful voice she never seems to overdo it like so many do. Some of these songs are still lousy / soaked-in-80s-schmalz ("Telling Me Lies" is painful) but at its best it's ... pleasant. And that's not a bad thing. Definitely worth a 3 for respect and frankly none of the 3 overdo it vocally which is what makes it work. 6/10 3 stars.

This is a treat! We've been warming up for this one. Plenty of Dolly Parton, and some good Emmylou Harris picks (no Linda yet). I had no idea this existed! This so obviously needed to exist in the world because the three of them fit so well together and they sing so well together. This is my kind of old guard country. Big fan! 4/5

It was great country ballads. It reminded me of the righteous gemstones. I just like their use of lyrics and have that vagabond lifestyle I yearn for.

It’s solid, like I don’t love any of these three’s music honestly but it’s still good 3/5

I don't think I am knowledgeable enough in this area of music to really rate this properly. To me it sounded good and the singers are extremely capable, but the music is also feels like pretty generic country music. Nothing I want to throw myself over again, but it was a pretty calm listen and if I'm in the mood for country I could put this on for sure. I just hope for their sake that the album cover picture was done as satire or a joke, and not in seriousness. Though I'm not sure how much humour Dolly Patron & co. has, so it's hard to know.

I was so excited for this. I had no clue that Dolly Parton had made a super-group album with Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt. I was however quite disappointed. Country for me is all about storytelling and for some reason I just didn't really buy in to the stories. It just sounded like generic country. Maybe it was because i haven't listened to it enough? For now it gets a strong 2.

great singing

This one was a little tough to rate for me. I went in with great anticipation. However, I don’t particularly like this style of neo Americana. The chemistry in this album is so strong, though, that I was on over, anyway. Each singer gets a chance to take center stage, but at all times, the harmonies are incredible.

This is the kind of country music that is meant to break your heart. I suppose if I allowed myself to get caught up in it, it may be effective even on me. Parton, Ronstadt, and Harris have great voices and are amazing performances but I'm not sure about the song choices. My general unfamiliarity with country music may be limiting my appreciation of the songs but I have a suspicion that this album's late 80s release date has something to do with it. I compare these tunes with the original songs on Loretta Lynn's Van Lear Rose from 2004. I do like The Pain of Loving You, Wildflowers, and Those Memories of You. I don't like the dead hobo one.

One of the best country/Americana albums of the 1980s, and perhaps ever, Trio combines the power of Linda Ronstadt, EmmyLou Harris, and Dolly Parton in their prime. Parton especially had had a string of crossover pop hits at this time, making this something of a back-to-basics album for her. Their combined talents always complement and never compete. The song selection is spectacular. It's easier to point out the very few lesser songs (To Know Him is to Love Him? Really?) than suggest the gems. It's so full of gems that it sparkles like a tiara. Parton's contributions are especially wonderful though, especially Wildflowers and Rosewood Casket which feature Dolly's exquisite dulcimer playing. There was a follow up (Trio II) that, while good, doesn't rise to the lofty heights of this album. This is a rare oppurtunity to see three amazing songwriters and performers at their best, made better by their collaboration.

Eh, not much to say here

Not usually one for country music, but I absolutely love this. Three of my favorite artists and women.

Three very distinct voices within the country world, brought together to make standout songs. Throw in David Lindley and Albert Lee and you got yourself a pretty solid band! The harmonies are beautiful and the songs, albeit a bit sappy at time, are very traditional and well crafted. 7.5 out of 10

Album #700 for me! Holy shit! It's funny this one is coming up today as I was just chatting with my two sisters yesterday about how we need to be a unanimous united front to take down the wicked evil trying to oppress us right now. Feels like some sort of divine intervention or message from the music gods that my assertions are correct - "The Power of Three will set us free!" Also, Linda Ronstadt's hair and outfit is EVERYTHING on this cover. Major cowgirl serve right now, I am feelin' the fantasy!

How did I miss this one all these years? The three featured artists have some of the best voices in music and the song selection for this record is wonderful. So glad I got to hear this one and know about it!

I think this is doing Dolly a disservice to state this is uniquely her album, Emmylou Harris, and Linda Ronstadt must take equal blame for this godawful album. However respect to them for capturing a unique moment in time when they could flog 20 billion sales to a particular genre of sad white wannabee cowboys, and I hope they all enjoyed spending every penny (cent) they made.

I quite liked this one, more than I would have expected for country. Really liked the way their voices harmonize. 3.5 stars

Its all fine but a bit bland. The 3 voices are great and it holds well as an album. The songs all seem to be about relationship troubles. Twang twang yeaaaah. Country.

They are all powerhouses in their own right, but I believe I prefer them separately. Still a good album, just not entirely my cup of tea.

Not my tune

Out of the three artists in this Trio, the only one whose work I’ve enjoyed has been Parton’s. It makes sense, then, that I only enjoyed about a third of this album. Dolly can’t write the whole group out of a songwriting rut, and while the vocals are stellar the instrumentation drags and barely changes across the whole runtime.

There are some truly excellent songs on this album; and paired with the beautiful voices of the trio, it makes for a very good country album. A pleasure to listen to. Best tracks: Making Plans, To Know Him Is To Love Him, Hobo’s Meditation, Telling Me Lies

Before there was boygenius there was trio! What a supergroup. I can't quite put my finger on why I feel its more a 4 than a 5 for me, maybe some songs blended together too much in my head? It might come down to this kind of country needs a bit more zip for me to be really engaged as a listener. So solid though.

A wonderfully executed collaboration between three icons. Their voices work well together and the arrangements are great (especially for a country album from the late 80s). The lead guitar on “To Know Him Is To Love Him” is gorgeously tasteful.

This fucking slaps. Three totally perfect singers join voices in a sort of voltron esque creation of unstoppable country music. Telling Me Lies is the perfect example.

I generally like Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, and Emmylou Harris, but I haven't sought out much of their work on my own. I was happy to see this suggestion come up because of the possibilities. The album was good and I enjoyed it enough, but I finished the album wondering if the music had truly showcased the talents of all three of the artists on this album. Perhaps I wasn't in the mood for as many sad love songs. Nothing was bad on the album, but I might not come back for a re-listen. "Rosewood Casket" adn "Hobo's Meditation" were the tracks I rated the highest, with "The Pain of Loving You" a close third.

Three great vocalists doing regulation country music. Undeniably nice, just not very exciting. In the right context and environment, a very pleasant listen I'm sure, but rush hour traffic in West London probably wasn't that. :D

This one was exactly as expected! Three very pleasant (but not earthshatteringly brilliant) voices, hopping between full on country and gentle soft pop. Nothing particularly inspiring, nothing to really note. 2/5.

Good mom music.

Before there was Boygenius, there was Trio. Three great singer-songwriter women (though more country than folk) came together for a back-to-basics album. Trio consists of a few old songs and a few new ones. The end product are simple-yet-beautiful country songs that hearken back to the traditional styling of the genre. The exception to this is Telling Me Lies, which is more of a Nashville Sound 80's ballad that was originally recorded by Linda Thompson. This is perhaps the weakest point on the album, as the women showcase their voices best on the more traditional songs, especially when they harmonize together. A strong showing from all women here. Not nearly as bad as I anticipated from an 80's country album.

Best Song: Wildflowers. Lyrically quite nice. Made me want to be a wild little flower. Worst Song: To Know Him. Diabetically saccharine. Overall: Absolutely not my kind of music. Painfully slow, preoccupied with desperate, romantic themes. And what's more, the central conceit of the three singers harmonizing always felt worse than just Dolly Parton singing on her own.

Great harmonies, forgettable songs.

Whoever approved this horrendous album cover was hopefully fired immediately. I adore the three members of Trio as much as the next person. Legends each in their own right. I’m sure they had a fun time recording this together. I just don’t see the point in it.

All respect to Dolly and Emmylou (Ronstadt, with her penchant for soft, adult-contemporary vibes, was by far the weak link here) but I really struggle with the sad-sack country crooner schtick. I just hate it so much. But, as I listened, it grew on me. Well, some of the songs did. When it was country, it was alright. When it was adult contemporary, it was awful. And when it was bluegrass, it was fire. Seriously, I felt like I got musical whiplash going from "Those Memories of You" (a gut-busting bluegrass jam) to "I've Had Enough" (a flaccid adult contemporary turd) and it killed the experience for me, honestly. I'll never listen to this again but, at the end of the day, I can respect it even if I don't like it.

It's not greater than the sum of its parts, but it's some pretty good parts. Not quite as dreary as I remember, but Those Memories of You is still by far the highlight.

I didn’t realize these three ever recorded together. Though this album doesn’t really break any new ground, this is a very accessible country album grounded by tradition but infused with some pop sensibility. The vocals are outstanding of course. It’s interesting that this was recorded right at the advent of the the pop country mainstream explosion that peaked in the 90s.

This is really lovely. Out of this world harmonies. Three gorgeous vocals singing as one, and it's pretty great. This album mixes a traditional vibe with an 80s sheen, which isn't the most exciting use of the talent involved. But the simplicity of the songs helps keep them from sounding too dated. A sweet, relaxed album. Dolly Parton is one of those artists that make country music listenable. - i was surprised Phil Spector wrote one of the songs on this album. That guy really was everywhere back then.

More often than not when it comes to country, i'm more interest in the artists than the songs itself. It's no different here. As much as i admire Dolly Parton as a person, the album simply doesn't grab my attention.

While not a country fan, these ladies' voices and wonderful harmonies transcend the genre. I'd listen to them sing the phonebook!

Holy Harmonies Batman! This is far from a genre I typically enjoy but the musicality of this album cannot be denied. Masters of their craft and there's nothing else to do but sit back and enjoy.

Where has this been all my life?!?! I am a sucker for good harmonies so right off the bat I loved this. But the songs themselves are beautiful lyrically and musically. Nothing crazy just pleasant listening and I would be lying if I said a couple songs didn’t make me tear up thinking about family members of mine who have passed or aren’t in the best health. Bravo to these 3 ladies who put together a masterpiece of harmonies.

I liked this one more than I thought I would. I’m big country fan but I generally haven’t gotten in to any of these ladies. Great vocals, classic country/Appalachia sound. Solid record.

They've got lovely voices, but the music they make ain't for me.

Stunning album. These are three of the strongest & most memorable vocalists in country, folk, and rock. All three are legendary in their own right. Separately, these ladies sing some of my favorite songs: Dolly - Jolene, Emmylou Harris - Wayfaring Stranger, Linda Rondstandt - Blue Bayou & her mariachi songs (an ode to her Mexican-American roots). Together, they sing in perfect harmony & cover some classics. I'm also sucker for sappy country, banjo, fiddle & guitar...partly thanks to hearing country growing up & living in Nashville for 8 years (Emmylou lived in my neighborhood). I'm so happy this is one the list & I hope we get to hear their solo albums. What a lovely listen.

No denying that these women are incredible song writers, singers, performers. Not really my style of music, but you've gotta appreciate it.

Bless....... Dolly seems to be the dominant one here although someone needs to take the lead I guess. It's a bit bland to be honest- nothing original here although it's pleasant enough.

An inspired collaboration featuring three icons, ‘Trio’ is expertly sung, played, and arranged but it’s essentially full of slower songs and ballads. And while these are all great, I would’ve liked some up-tempo numbers thrown into the mix for some variation, and to wake me up a little.

Three Country music legends team up to sing country. Pretty good. Nothing memorable for me, though.

It's fine. Didn't do much for me though. I guess some of the harmonies were nice. Could definitely be worse. My favourite song was Telling Me Lies.

Dolly, Linda and Emmylou. What did the world do to deserve the three of you? At this juncture of all three stunning careers, they've done everything possible: collaborations with wayward souls, career-defining songs that still echo and resonate, changing genres with an ease most people couldn't perfect and many, many more. What's left to do than come together and bang out an album that not only is a classic but demonstrates all three at their peak. Weaving together well-worn classics with the then-modern touch that exemplified grace, the result that became Trio is the type of record that can best be an introduction and also a reminder of the talents that all three have. Thank the heavens that such a creation was allowed to be made. We're not worthy.

I'm usually not a fan of country music, and in my opinion the 80s were when the genre really started pushing that "country pop" I oh so loathe. However, Dolly Parton is a treat of a person, so I won't dismiss this instantly. While the harmonies and vocals were impressive, the album left a lot to be desired. At best, it was pretty okay but less than notable country music, but it often dipped into either hard to enjoy 50s era country, or was very generic 80s country, the exact that I figured I would not enjoy. There is enough here to keep it out of the one star, but I see nothing here to make this album notable, save for vocals that are outdone by other singers or Parton herself on this very list.

It's three greats being great together, but as often is the case with these things it never exceeds the sum of its parts. Hobo's Meditation is the exception to this - it's ace!

You put three legends in a room together and they just happen to make an excellent album.

7/10 fantastic vocal harmonies and performances all around. idk why but I’m not usually a big fan of super groups , and some of these tracks I just didn’t care for

This album made a 50 minute drive in the snow go from unbearable to just excruciating which is honestly a pretty big feat. I couldn’t imagine a comparable album today where the three biggest artists of a genre got together to make a banger filled album. Closest thing after this was probably traveling wilburys

An enjoyable listen.

Heck yeah. Trio is just magic. The combination of voices (personally, I'm especially partial to Emmylou Harris, but you can't fault Dolly or Linda) is better than any of them alone. To Know Him is to Love Him is an absolute stand out. Yes, some of the songs are a bit corny, and many of them have been overplayed. It's an 80s country album with 80s overdone production (and seriously, Emmylou, what were you thinking with that HAIR?), but this is ICONIC. Smashing good album.

I like Dolly Parton, but I definitely don't like this collaboration. Frankly, the songs are just really boring. It doesn't sound painful or anything like that, but I can't understand why someone would like to listen to it.

well written and sung album, almost like keening poetry at times. I've not heard projects from this trio in their capacity - but it looks like they were a force to behold in the days of yore, and I feel this was a solid introduction for all three!

Varied between dull and hilariously bad (Hobo's meditation was a particularly ridiculous take from Dolly P and her two clones). Dont like country in general and though I can appreciate some of Dolly's songs are well written these were all rubbish.

Considering the talent on the album, I expected more. I am disappointed, unfortunately. A lot of this is maudlin, forgettable stuff. Quite good as background music though.

Enjoyed this more than I thought I would, it has a nice mellow sound. Their voices work really well together. It's not something I'd listen to again but it was alright in the background.

Country really isn't for me..... However, saying that, I didn't dislike this as much as I thought I would. Sorry Dolly et al. Also Dolly Parton has better songs than are on here

Very pleasant, 3 great singers and some good songs

Just a trio of country gals hymning and singing away on the prairie. I loved their voices even when the songs themselves felt old and antiquated. Like the same way I love old Christmas songs. No keepers, but overall really enjoyed.

Not bad at all! Great country harmonies from three titans of the industry. I think we've had an album from Dolly and Emmylou so far, nothing from Linda yet. Nothing too crazy but a solid project to be sure. Gets me in the country dancing sort of mood. Favorite tracks: The Pain of Loving You, Hobo's Meditation, My Dear Companion. Album art: A picture of the trio, fitting, but the framing and font around this thing really sells it. As far as band photos go, this one is way up there! Love the western backdrop as well. 3.5/5

I enter this hesitantly. Country + 80's... FEAR. Nice voices so far. Not overly punishingly 80's thus far. Somewhat boring but not really offensive. Heading for a 3 here.

You can feel the heart in these songs. This is good country.

Allemachtig! Dit was wederom niet te harden. Individueel zijn deze artiesten nog best ok, maar deze samenwerking was werkelijk van suikerspin-niveau.

Ik had hier zin in. Ik hou best van Dolly en Emmylou Harris, maar dit ging de verkeerde kant op. Dat lied over die hobo. Ik dacht dat het over het muziekinstrument ging en kon het niet plaatsen: What Will become of the hobo Whenever his time comes to die? Even onderzoek gedaan en een hobo blijkt ook een zwerver te zijn :)

To start with, three amazing artists with incredible careers. Great, distinctive voices, amazing song writers. But DAMN That was depressing.as.hell. And disappointing - where’s the strong female voice from Working 9 to 5? These are some severely dated songs, even for the late 80s. To be fair - I’m pretty sure these are all or mostly cover tunes, but I mean, there’s a song about a coffin! Although it did make me realize two things - I don’t know if there are trains in heaven, and you just don’t hear people talk about ‘hobos’ much anymore. So much respect, but not for me.

You know, from the chipper happy picture of the three of them on the cover, you'd never know how sad and lonesome they all are. And of course they are definitely lonesome, not lonely. Country folks don't get lonely, they only get lonesome. This is one thing about classic country I've learned. The other thing I've learned is that country folks are all about projecting a glamorous and happy getup, but there is pain in them there hills, big heavy pain. These three ladies are at the ends of their careers, but the music sounds classic as ever. Beautiful, sad, lonesome music! I swear these ladies could kick the Dixie Chicks' asses. I'm sorry ya'll had to get old, but I understand. More than ever.

I was completely unprepared to see this album here and suprised that there were such crazy country unions. The atmospere that album creates is for the calme morning with cup of coffee and someone you love. Despite all the ablazing and heartbreaking voices(especially Dolly Parton's one) i liked only a few songs that really stucked in my mind and made me reflect for a while. The overall sound is not for the permanent listening(pretty boring). But I couldn't give it 3 or even less just because music is very mild and cosy. So 4

What an incredible combination. These 3 were destined to sing and harmonize together. GOATs of country pop. Beautiful songs, perfect production, great run time, I enjoyed this thoroughly.
