Reviews (page 3 of 13)

Good album. I love Karen O’s voice on every part of this album. 4.8/5 Fav: “Zero”, “Heads Will Roll” Least Fav: None

Zero - good. Heads Will Roll - I like the drums. Wasn’t this in Rock Band? But it’s always struck me as repetitive and whiny, vocally. Skeletons - I like the instrumentation. Song feels “deep”. Layers of sound. Dull Life - I liked the beginning more than the end. I think Runaway - I don’t like the record-skip repetition she does across multiple songs. I feel like it’s fine once but don’t like using it twice+ in the same album. The song itself felt interesting throughout even though it wasn’t. Loud. Or whatever. So far this album feels like, thematically cohesive. No song has felt like it sticks out or doesn’t belong. Dragon Queen - zoned out through this song. Remember the beginning being kind of interesting. Hysteric - again I like the drums and the pulsing (synth? What is that?) in the background. Vocals/lyrics underwhelming or I didn’t notice them. Little Shadow - very 2000s. Resonant.

Love it! Karen O has a great voice and tremendous energy. Great album

Fucking lekker

Zero and Heads Will Roll are great - I like Karen Os voice a lot and the guitars/basslines on the tracks are super sick. Runaway was a standout - Dragon Queen has an interesting melody/guitar track. really enjoyable

One of best albums of the 21st century.

This is a fun album - charismatic voice, great production, no filler. I really enjoyed this. Stand outs are Zero, Hysteric, Soft Shot and Heads Will Roll. My 16 year old son said Heads Will Roll is still a house party staple, can get play in weight rooms. Best album generated on this program so far.

A great album.

Desconocidos para mí. Me voy a hacer fan.

I have been a fan of them from the few songs that I've heard from them previously. I really love this album a lot (: Favorites: Heads Will Roll (classic), Dull Life and Runaway

Nice! A bit more alternative than I expected

Starts strong with abrasive synths and Karen O’s plaintive, howling and sensuous voice. Then moves from punk dance to a softer more melodic tone before becoming more garagey and then finishing with an artsy vibe. Overall a great album, which I could listen to over and over

1st song: just that intro told me I was in for a good time 2nd song: I DIDNT KNOW THIS SONG WAS FROM THESE GUYS Skeletons: 😭 Dull Life: NOT DULL AT ALL This album is groovy and has so many great build ups!! No skips for me!

So much nostalgia! Not their best in my opinion, but boy did it hit right today.

Every song a banger

one of the best albums of the 00s. And I love an album with some acoustic versions at the end

I love this! Definitely one of my favorite albums we have listened to so far. I will be adding Yeah Yeah Yeahs to my Spotify rotation for sure. Fun songs, a great voice, what more could I want?

sorry I already know this is a 5 star album, it's perfect

10/10 pretty unique for an alternative album (ironically) I honestly really dug this, so many great songs, and the deluxe version had some really neat acoustic variations

Love it

I really think I'm going to give this a 5. It just fits what I like so well. There's a great mix between slow and fast, techno and acoustic and the singing is amazing. All of the beats hit so well, and I truly adore this album

I knew the singles, but great album all the way through.

Great album from start to finish. I'm partial to the genre, and Heads Will Roll is quite well known, but this is some indie-rock (indie-pop) at its peak. Keeping this one in rotation.

I had heard some songs from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs before listening to this album. However, my expectations were way exceeded upon listening! I loved the balance of slower and faster songs, as well as the inclusion of strong string and percussion instruments. Definitely will listen again and to more things from this band.

Adore the flow of this album! Intensity, tempo - it’s amazing! Some total bangers. Hard to choose my favourite track. 4.6

I listened to a lot of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs when they first hit the scene, but I was living abroad when this album released and never really listened to it. Shame, because it's fucking excellent.

Wortwhile and easy to listen to alternative Pop.

On the first run I loved the first few tracks and got bored later on. On the second run I learned to appreciate one more song, and so on. Now I love it all and I've also revalued fever to tell, they both deserve 5 stars, this woman is amazing

An album I saw was generated and immediately thought would be forgettable. A band I had written off because of my sincere lack of interest in the indie groups they were associated with in the early 2000s. I loved this album and was immediately reminded of Au Revoir Simone and a happy version of Beach House. This I will revisit.

Excellent.

holy crap they went crazy on this one, fantastic end to end

Somehow this album hits me, especially the acoustic songs.

Highlights: heads will roll(duh), dull life and little shadow. Loved the consistent sound and how the vibe changed naturally

9.5/10

I hadn't listened to the whole album and it's really a solid effort. Such great party tunes and some very nice ups and downs across the record.

My brain chemistry changed at 9 years old hearing Heads Will Roll for the first time. One of the greatest dance songs of this generation. Obsessed w this full album. Such chaotic, spooky vibes. Everything I love.

So far fun

Man this was refreshing. I was on a run of pretty boring music in this project. This was great.

Always a classic, banger after banger

Loved it!

Dance punk

My rankings are gonna be so weird, I should’ve started higher! This bangs.

Great album. Not what I expected. Dull life was the track that brought me in and made me give the album an extra listen.

Love this album

Love me some Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Karen O has some solo work that’s also worth checking out.

Love this album I already liked "heads will roll"but this album is so much more. New favourite

This is the best yeah yeah yeah album

Yeah yeah yeah!

Heads Will Roll - kennys montage sangen er på albummet.

Cool It Down was my favourite record from 2022, and It's a Blitz! is their second-best album. It is not as perfect as Cool It Down (or perhaps I like their version of shoegaze even more than their version of electro-pop). But anyway: no weak songs and many great ones (and sometimes the music is not even that far away from Cool It Down). For me, this was a 4-star album (8/10) in 2009 and it is true that a couple of songs in the middle (Dull Life / Shame and Fortune) are a bit less memorable, but after non-stop listening to it today I rate it as 5-star (9/10) in 2023.

Wow! I had heard a few Yeah Yeah Yeahs songs before (and like them) but I was not expecting this. What a great album. No song is lacking. The whole album is dynamic and the lead singer is perfect. How this band didn’t take over the world in the 00s is lost on me. Highlights are Heads will Roll, Dull Life, Runaway, Little Shadow. 10/10.

Loved this, can’t believe I’ve not listened to this whole album before. A great mix of bangers, more chilled out numbers and some more beautiful, deep, complex tracks that definitely need another listen.

Fabulous

great listen tbh

Really enjoyed this at first listen. Put me in mind of Metric. Definitely need to look into more.

Desconocidos para mí. Me voy a hacer fan.

I have never listened to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs before but apparently this is a progression from rock to dance. 'Zero' is rather good -- I can tell how it has both rock and dance influences. This is a very good dance album from the first two songs! Probably 9/10 -- either 4 or 5 -- probably 4. Nice length. Definite 9/10 but also 4/5. Not quite 5 but very, very good! (This was my first time listening: I have yet to award 5 stars to an album I have never heard of or never listened to a little bit of, like this one). That said, I have added it to my library and will definitely be listening again. Actually, despite being 9/10, I think it is a 5. All the songs were very good.

Great Album! 5 stars

Rating: 10/10

ICONIC. ITS GOOD.

Heads Will Roll still slaps. Runaway may be my favorite.

LOVE this album

Saw at Hollywood bowl, iconic late 2000s sound

Instant classic

Love this album

Really takes me back. I think I knew every track on this one. 2009... KC radio and 96.5. Great cover art.

I absolutely adore this album

Throwback time! Vet album, was weer vergeten hoe goed het was.

I really really wanted to give this album 4 stars. I really did. But I listened. And I listened. And I got more and more hooked into it.

I love the Yeah Yeah Yeahs! Happy to see this one on here :)

<3 <3 <3

Bangers on here. Unique sounds that haven't lost their novelty yet.

love it

It's Blitz! is a fantastic album, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs have melded synth-punk with alt pop in a way that just makes sense. It's upbeat tempo coupled with the emotional lyrics let you know that they want you to forget about your loneliness/heartbreak by literally dancing the blues away. Best: Heads Will Roll Worst: Hysteric

All bangers, instantly transported back to early 2000s.

Yea, I loved this. I hadn't listened cover to cover before but may not really be a weak song on there.

The only Yeah Yeah Yeahs song I'd heard before is Heads Will Roll, and I never thought to check them out further. I should have been listening to this album for years!

Not many great albums from that period so this rare.

Really good! Some of the songs just kind of passed me by, but there were some excellent indie bangers. I have to say I prefer the A-Trak remix of Heads Will Roll to the original, but it's still great. The acoustic tracks were pretty too. Dull Life and Runaway stood out especially to me. This is a fun album and I found a few songs I'll absolutely come back to. Favourite: Dull Life

Always enjoy the vocals.

Never really listened to the Yeah Yeahs Yeahs but I really enjoyed this!

Certified hood classic

Parhaan albumin kaava - Monikerroksellisuus, pintapuolinen ja syvyys (Felt mountain, (David Bowie mikä tahansa levy)) Monitakertevuus - (DSOTM), mietitkö ja vaikuttaako - Skaala DSOTM:ssa onnistuu hyvin.. Termi ”aihe” viittaa mihin tahansa toistuvaan elementtiin... DARK SIDE OF THE MOON LEVYSSÄ ON MILLENIAALI... DSOTM ON PASKAMYRSKY JOLLA ON AINAKIN KAKSI HYPE BIISIÄ ALUSSA!! (Speak To Me - On The Run).. Hype biisit koostuvat äärimmäisen yksinkertaisista elementeistä.. Basso....

I adore this album. From the epic opening one-two punch of dance jams “Zero” and “Heads Will Roll” to the quiet bedroom pop of “Little Shadow,” this is an exceptionally well-rounded and sequenced album. I have a strong nostalgic attachment to this album too. I played it a ton in college (working at the radio station, it was one of those albums all the DJs got excited about) and Dree and I listened to it a lot together in our early months of dating. But aside from my own emotional attachment, there’s no denying this album is excellent. It’s filled with big hooks, big emotions, hard rock and dance songs (I love the sexy electro-funk of “Dragon Queen”), alongside more tender moments (I totally forgot about “Hysteric” until it came on and it just totally overwhelmed me with emotions - such a great love song). One of my all-time favorite album covers too.

Killer indie country pop punk goodness. Pulls off both a lovely head-bopping energy and downtempo ballads. Don't sleep on the acoustic covers! 4.8/5

Creo que me gustaría ponerle 4,5

I absolutely love every song on this album.

I ruddy love this album. Really transports me back to the heady days of 2009. Such a great sound, instantly recognisable and a legendary band in my eyes, so glad they've got new stuff coming out as well

i love it

Magnifique album from front to back.

Muy muy bueno

The acoustic versions were really. Karen O sounds like an angel

This is my jam. 10/10 cover. Absolutely insane production (just listen to 'Dragon Queen'!). Stunning highlights in the bangers 'Zero' and 'Head Will Roll' along with the wicked good 'Dull Life'.

It’s fab

I'm not sure why I never got this album when it came out. I loved the first two. It's stands up just as well as the others, I'll definitely be revisiting this.

2009 best year in indie don't @ me! This is my favorite YYY album and an absolute classic of indie rock. It makes me really happy to see it included here.

Les deux premiers titres et Runaway ♥️♥️

Love it! Fabulous range from dancy synth pop to dreamy, lyrical tracks. Zero and Heads Will Roll both made it into Triple J's Hottest 100 of 2009 so the album is definitely part of the soundtrack of that year. Karen O's voice alternatively soars and soothes. This album is tight and well deserves its place in this compilation.

I love the synths melting and enveloping into the rock sound like a butter on a toasted bread. It's so delicious and mood uplifting, like a good breakfast on a peaceful morning. Those kinds of morning where one tries to think about their life decisions with a hint of nostalgia. It's another oddly sad yet happy indie rock from the 2000's. I dunno what exactly drives them. Hope? Nostalgia? I dunno, but I love it. It's one of my favorite parts of the '00s music scene. Karen O has such a sweet voice. And I love how she drives the energy of the synths and the emotion of the album's tracks. Overall, it's an indie perfection. Inconsistent, but that only made it better. It felt like the musical version of "finding yourself". It's so soothing and mood uplifting. Yes, the BLITZ! title with an egg being... squeezed in the cover seems misleading in terms of sound, but it nailed my reaction to the album. It's freaking BLITZ!

This is one of my favorite albums. I saw them live at Coachella one year and was in awe of their talent.

I listened to this album when it was released and never stopped. 10/10

The best YYY project by far. Karen O and the band are perfectly in sync. A modern classic. Best track: Runaway

I really enjoyed this and thrilled to discover Fever To Tell is coming up (in about 33 more albums!). This album certainly starts off strong with Zero, Heads Will Roll, and Soft Shock.

i'm really happy that my first album back after a hiatus from the 1001 could be such a good one. at times reflective and at times totally wild, Karen O's fantastic vocal performance takes this over the top 10/10

How have i never listened to this? Great songs - Zero will be on lots of my playlists.

Love this album

Love this album, hadn't listed in a very long time. Glorious voice, tight production, terrific rock and roll

Absolute classic. Not a weak song on the album. Dragon Queen is such a secret slammer. I know this album very well and it still catches me by surprise. Favorite Tracks: Dragon Queen, Heads will Roll, Hysteric

Love this album

I love this band! Each track is distinct and reminds me of a time when I was in university and the world seemed full of possibilities. Karen's voice is awesome, and every track in this album is cohesive and perfect. I'd almost forgotten that this band existed, so this is a good reminder to have this album on rotation, especially when I feel down.

1001 Albums likes the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and so do I! This music is my jam!

Discazo

I love the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and this album has always been a favorite. Always love a relisten

Head banger!

Loved this!

Ptn j'adore! Soft shock et Runaway sont mes prefs

Desconocidos para mí. Me voy a hacer fan.

2000s perfection

So cool and poised and raucous

I liked this one a lot!

Really good album

diiiig it

But boy, was I wrong.

Really good album!

Hey I know at least some of this music. I know it and I like it. The last song isn't available on Spotify so gotta find it somewhere else. Automatic 4 though since I know part of the album pretty well. Maybe give it a 5 once I hear the rest. Ok yeah I liked this a lot. Giving it a 5.

Love this album. Much more glam than their debut, but still amazing.

Already knew it, and love it. I really like Karen O

I love their debut album but have not listened to this album before (other than maybe a couple songs). I really loved this album. Standout tracks: heads will roll, runaway, hysteric, soft shock

Oh Karen O ❤️

I can sorta see the strokes comparison. As a big fan of the strokes I really enjoyed this album. The textures on the rock was really nice

First album I've listened to all the way through and first one I'll definitely relisten to. Pretty good for chill running or revision

5th time listening! My favourite songs on this album where ‘Zero’, ‘Soft Shock’, ‘Skeletons’ and ‘Dragon Queen’ It’s an all around classic electro-rock album I’ll always love the Yeah Yeah Yeahs! Rating:4.5/5 GEMV (06.07.2026)

This is why I listen to this list still. Once in a while I come across a band I know, but who's album I never considered owning. Now I will. Also, the top comment made me laugh "when your mom age 22 sags in the middle"? Most mums aren't 22, but also what a young age to be discussing "aging" I assume a typo. Or, I hope a typo because if 22 was the age we start "aging" out the patriarchy is worse than I thought.

Didn't realize I know the majority of this album but didn't know the name of the artist. I dig it. And so did my daughter.

I think before this, the only song I knew by this artist was "Maps," which I love (and is not on this album). This is great! Vibey indie rock that had me dancing along. It has an extremely strong start (where all the singles are), and while it doesn't manage to keep all of that momentum throughout, it was always interesting and enjoyable. 8/10 Most Excellent

ibiza, heads will roll

Zero Heads Will Roll Dull Life Shame and Fortune

Slept on this. Absolute banger. Will listen again. Might be a 5er

very 2009. nice throwback

I haven't heard the Yeah Yeah Yeahs in a while. They are aging well. ★★★★

Snill firer.

Heads Will Roll is such a banger that the rest of the album could be fart sounds and I’d still give it 4 stars

Would have been 3 stars, but for Skeletons. Really moody and atmospheric, but beside the mentioned track nothing really stuck out to me.

I am saying yeah yeah yeah to this album

Catchy 2000s indie, recognized several songs already

Liked this more than I thought I would. Good driving beat and I liked the vocals

Great synthesis of aughts-indie with punk-like energy and some electronic flourishes. Karen O is like the prototypical frontwoman for a band like this (following in the footsteps of Debbie Harry and Chrissy Hynde) and is pretty much just an overall badass. Great, driving energy and some banger songs (Heads Will Roll in particular). Don't think it's quite 5 stars for me but pretty damn good.

it's a bop. starts out very strong. "zero" and "heads will roll". the rest of the album keeps up. it's a good listen.

Day 2 - I love the change of pace in the middle of the album, with the song runaway I felt like I had a time to think and ingest the rest of the loud and chaotic album, Its like slowing changing throughout the album and makes it feel complete.

Not enough feral trashwoman on this album for my taste but it still goes

a really enjoyable listen. not quite consistently peaking but the peaks are so great

Off off with your head! Thanks Aspen ski Co! 4.2/5

The opening few songs are just as incredible as they were in 2009. Sassy and confident as fuck. Side B sags more than I remember.

I have a bit of a soft spot for the yeah yeah yeahs I won’t lie. First half of the album got those punchy tunes I just love. Second half much slower but I don’t mind it at all on this album

Heads Will Roll easily clears the rest but Dull Life and Soft Shock are fun. Some of the songs miss the mark for me, but the sound is so varied, I'm sure it has something for you.

Sick as all hell. obviously maps is an all time classic, but this is just a great pop punk rock synth album. I could dance to it, feel it, loved the guitar and drums. Her voice is so good too. Not the absolute first rate, but a great record.

A fun pretenders-inspired arcade fire adjacent sound, with a fun frontwoman.

I really enjoyed that. I only knew 'Heads Will Roll' from this album but the others were just as good. Fun!

erste song banger. heads will roll kenni wtf woher haha. baaaaanger. hm alles no cool aber mengmol rock mengmol electro was isch de sound? aber irgendwie isch de sound ihri stimm afoch? moll ich finds fucking hard d karen singt hammer. d synth sounds sind super.

I really enjoyed this album! Had solid variety and few low points. Good 2-3 songs are ending up on my playlist from this one!

Heads will roll (off with his head)- fun song. Hysteric sounds like Taylor swift

Actually quite nice

+Great production +Interesting sound design +Great playing and singing +Heads Will Roll On paper, this album checks all the boxes. It sounds interesting and artsy, yet approachable. To me, however, it lacks the emotional content that elevates an album from being good to great. It does not want to make me dance and shout, nor does it make me want to sit back, reflect and get goosebumps. Why 4 then? Heads Will Roll is a banger, and I still enjoy this sort of music much more than the 60-70s whiteboy blues that this 1001 album catalogue is full of.

Surprisingly fun!

four stars but I’m biased because I was 25 when this album came out and indie rock was approaching a sort of peak cultural relevance. Obama was president. Nothing would ever go wrong again

This is such a cool album.

I liked this a lot more than I thought I would. Karen O has a lot more range than their singles would suggest.

Tiene una q es un temo

The first and only Yeah Yeah Yeahs album I bought, on CD, back in 2009. This was really great to revisit. It’s even better than I remembered.

party kinda songs

Pink Moon Nick Drake Born To Run Bruce Springsteen

I had Fever To Tell back in November 2025 and I gave it two stars. It was very abrasive sounding and Karen O's singing got on my nerves almost every song. With that in mind, I wasn't looking forward to listening to this today. This was mostly due to having never heard any of these songs before. I was pleasantly surprised right from the start, as this was a very different sound for the band and for her as well. She was understated rather than the shrieky sound from the previous album. As the album progressed I found myself bopping to most of the songs, and liked the slower ones as well. As opposed to the first album where I disliked most of the tracks, here I didn't find any that I outright didn't enjoy on some level. Standouts were Heads Will Roll, Soft Shock, and Hysteric. I know I write this frequently, but this is the reason I keep going on with the project. There are enough of these very pleasant surprises to keep my interest going through some of the tougher ones to get through.

Another in a long line 4's that I'd like to revisit but will probably forget to.

Great album, fun to listen to, and it reminds me I need to listen Y3 more often.

I heard it when it came out but it didn't break through to me like their previous record. It's a lot better than I gave it credit for and enjoyed listening to it a couple of times. The first half is stronger but the back half gets buoyed by Hysteric.

4/5 - This could rise with more listens. I’ve heard the first two songs a ton, but hadn’t heard much of the rest before. Definitely a more grown up sound compared to the debut that I need more time with. Karen O is generally great.

was looking forward to this :) have some of the yeahs in my playlists but never sat down to listen to a full album of theirs... this was such a fun listen and a nice break from all the old white man rock ive been given the past few days

Woo, it's another band from the 2000s that I never got into; let's find out why. In the boppy tracks, I like the synths happening in the background. I also like the slower, more restrained track "Skeletons," with the insistent beat growing more intense in the background as the song continues. Good songs, though I don't think it's super original material; I'm getting that "I like the bands that they borrowed this stuff from" feeling from this. Which is ok! I don't have a huge urge to listen to this album again anytime soon, but I never felt like I wanted to turn it off either, so it has that going for it. Fave track probably "Skeletons" 4 stars

Love the sound, forgotten how many hits this had

I like the YYY sound world on this album. A mix of post punk, dance punk and indie pop influences.

YYYs are getting a solid 4 from me for It’s Blitz, i’ve always enjoyed this album and never loved it. It falls off in the middle for me but starts and ends fantastically well.

I didn’t have high expectations after experience with Fever to Tell, but this is good and well done.

strong opener. good discovery from this list.

Really like it, part of the collection. Fun vibes, modern rock sound.

Peak Karen O

I like the structure of this album. It completely changed halfway through and do an acoustic softer mood. Loved every song

it was actually very very good but maybe i should review albums as soon as i finish listeining to it

Fuerte, divertido, distinto, llamativo.

Big surprise for me. Really good opening 3 tracks and then remains consistent throughout. RYM: N Saved a song: N

It was phenomenal. Had some low points, but overall I really, really enjoyed it

Kicks ass at the start, ends quite nicely, too. Had a great time with this. A high 4-star for me.

So good. Such a brilliant run toward the start. Heads Will Roll is a perfect song, and Soft Shock and Skeletons are close to it. Runaway and Dragon Queen hit a back half high that brings it right back up. Karen is a top tier singer and lyricist, especially for the genre, and the other guys whose names I should know by now create such great synthpop worlds for her to inhabit.

yeah yeah yeahs are an easy sell for me in general and this is a good "i'm a hot girl walking at night" album, but for me this has more frequent low points than fever to tell which is imo a cover to cover listen every time. i like your music better when you're rowdier, karen! fav: dull life

HEAD WILL ROLL

This was a fave back in the day, and while the years have taken a bit of the shine off it, I still really enjoyed the chance to revisit it. “Zero” and “Heads Will Roll” are the clear standouts, and hew closest to the band’s dance punk roots, but I do really like the more low key back half of the album.

Pretty rockin but nothing world changing.

hell yeah

Fue mi soundtrack en un día regu. Sabía a melancolía punk. Un poco Lilly Allen más rockerilla. Hot.

didn't know this band. reminds me of MGMT and the 2000s inde rock/pop. some songs are banger.

This is a good album with a range of musical ideas going on here. Definitely better than I expected.

Shermz: they really never save my review Sia help. I’ve heard Heads will Roll before HAHHAA. They give me the Ting Tings vibes Wenz: Wah, I like this album though I have not heard it before! 😍

Liked the sound, good easy listening

Indie sleaze will never die

Heads will roll is an excellent track. That song alone gives this 4 stars in my books.

The Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs started off firmly within the post-punk revival of the early aughts and this record reflects them moving away from that sound in a way that reflects some of the musical trends of the period. It moves away from the guitar-bass-drums sound heard earlier and is much more keyboard driven, It also moves away from the kind of angularity of the earlier material, although those qualities are not entirely absent from the record. This is something that I might have been a bit more critical of when I was younger, but honestly the shifts work well for the band and they make them in a way that holds onto their identity. It would probably be fair to also call this a more eclectic and ambitious record than the previous work. Off with their heads is a fantastic single and the work is consistently good, ranging from the upbeat material to the slower material. All in all a very good record that I will probably pick up if I get the chance.

Is good! I like the songs near the start and end of album

The electronic dance sounds might normally be annoying, but the Yeah Yeah Yeahs know how to make it endearing. Another fun and interesting album by this group.

fun & nostalgic as i used to listen to these songs a lot back in high school and the years that followed

yeah yea!

Recession pop rock, very happy and shiny

1. "Zero" 2. "Dull Life" 3. "Runaway"

I was jamming to this!

I spend a truly unbelievable amount of time singing Maps, and have done since… when did that come out? Wow 2003. Middle school Shar salivating over the music video after school. Anyway. I’ve never listened to this album! And only know heads will roll. Thrilled to see them included. Karen O has one of my favorite… auras? Oh hell yes seeing she went to Oberlin. Solidarity. Good Wikipedia excerpt: “Karen O accidentally danced off the stage and was reluctantly taken to the hospital. A few days later, at the Sydney leg of the Livid Festival, she appeared in a wheelchair pushed onstage by Andrew.”

Pleasantly surprised. Didn't expect the album to be this good. Only knew a couple of songs but the rest I liked.

Drops a little in the middle, but enjoyed this overall

A fun little album.

Yeah yeah yeah yeah

Love heads will roll, even though the remixes do improve on it, love this cover a lot as well. I like the vibe of the whole album, quite upbeat but none of the songs really stuck with me as something I would put in my playlist. Specific rating - 4.0 Fav song - heads will roll Least fav - little shadow

Definitely liked the first half more than the second, but I can't tell if that's the songs themselves or if I was getting bored of their sound/her voice. Love the album cover. Favourite song: Soft Shock Least: Runaway

banging

4 Enjoyed this, she has a really nice voice

I preferred the other album by this artist I listened to, but I would still say I liked this one! It was odd listening to Heads Will Roll, expecting it to play the sped up version.

Head Will Roll is insane s-tier banger. Most of the songs are not stunningly amazing (except Runaway which is fantastic), but I really like the style and the general vibe of this album.

I really enjoyed this album when it was released

I should revisit, but I still think it's a tad overrated.

Very good never heard before

Can an album be great just because it's very good? This album follows one of the formulas to greatness- start off with a couple total bangers (Heads will Roll, Zero) and a highly listenable not quite banger (Soft Shock) and then follow your muse wherever it takes you. Oh how these loudkins from Brooklyn have grown into themselves. The guitar crunch a has receded but the attitude remains - this sound was always their future. Ready made for festival mainstages worldwide. In the years since they have only become moreso.

Starts of with a bang and slowly loses momentum. This is the type of music I like but in reality it's just another average album. Probably rates higher because of the lack of competition around at the time. Good but not great.

an album I had never heard of and it was a pleasant surprise, quirky and eletronic, it was exciting to hear the original song behind heads will roll made me think of project x, it is a satisfyingly melancholy album

Liked it. Will give another listen.

Exceeded my expectations, wasn't expecting the blend of mellow indie and upbeat dance/electronic. Simple stuff but kept it versatile - lead vocals especially good. The acoustic versions are also a treat. Slightly reminiscient of Wolf Alice.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs are, imo, one of the better bands to come out of the indie blow-up of the 2000's. This album has a few different classic cuts on it and stuff that's inflected with dance punk has a special place in my heart. Is it essential? Probably not, but I certainly like it, so I can't be too mean.

Pretty best

everyone knows heads will roll but this album slaps. Would I listen again: yes Deserves to be on this list: yes 4.3

I really like this album, I do enjoy YYY’s synth heavy phase in general. It doesn’t have any of the really punchy tracks found in their earlier stuff but as a sort of shoegazy album with good underlying Melodys I think it works well 4

First half is admittedly got more going for it than the second but a solid album overall. Great band, always pushing the envelope.

This is great. A band that totally grew on me over the years and are one of the most interesting bands from that era of indie. This album is change in direction and probably isn't as as good as their first but it's still excellent from start to finish.

If I had to describe this style, I'd say it's 90s Eurodance meets 2010s indie rock. However, I did enjoy this quite a lot! And the acoustic versions in the end were also quite a treat.

A good palette cleanser on this list.

Decent alternative rock record. Would listen to more of this band.

4.5/10 no my thing

I didn’t listen to this fully need to revisit

Bangers.

I liked this quite a lot. There’s a great use of synths on this album. I felt the propulsive bests matched with the lyrical content was a fun dichotomy. The vocal performance from Karen O was great, and a highlight on most of the songs. I like the cover being a metaphor for the band as rebirth. Yeah this was just good fun, look forward to a relisten

Heads Will Roll is an all timer. The rest of the album doesn’t quite live up to that precedence, but it’s still really good. This sounds very familiar and nostalgic to me, the slow songs especially sound sort of like mid songs at a small show, but I like them in this context. Heavily emulated vocals!

Honestly was surprised by how much I enjoyed this one. Flowed great throughout and the music was energetic.

holy tough, all the songs were a vibe. of course the meaning and the lyrics are a bit lacking but i really liked the sounds on this one

Really enjoyed this! Preferred it to their debut. Will be revisiting this one. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Really great energy, bueno pa workouts. Su voz es bien definida, sticks in the mind 4/5

There are some really good songs on this album. I’d be willing to listen to the album again, in totality. It was interesting listening to the acoustic versions included.

This album starts off with two tracks, Zero, which is fun and Heads Will Roll, which is excellent. Both songs make you feel like It's Blitz! is going to be a great party album but then it makes a handbrake turn into much more introspective songs. These are still good, but the bait and switch really threw me and spoiled the overall album experience. It would have been a much better album if they picked a lane and stayed in it and then switched on their next release. The songs are all pretty good, so this still just about gets a four, but I expect I'll listen to individual tunes rather than the album as a whole in the future.

YYY’s get more accessible but don’t lose their identity. And Karen O stays as cool as fuckin ever. Good stuffz

Heads Will Roll was an iconic cultural reset But I just wish this album kept the same energy throughout, it's like the fire got put out too early not even halfway down the tracklist...

Enjoyed this one quite a bit. Will have to check out more of this artist

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are phenomenal live. I saw them twice back in the 00’s and they blew me away both times. I don’t listen to them as often as I probably should these days. I throw “Fever To Tell” on every so often but don’t think I listened to their last album (Cool It Down - 2022) at all, so will have to remedy that in a bit. It’s Blitz is a great album. Really enjoyed getting reacquainted :)

Geras, elektroninė, nors geriau remixai kai kurie.

A great album from start to finish. Karen O's voice adds texture and dept to every song. Fun, a little poppy, a little punky, smooth with edges. 4/5.

I really dig the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I don't know why certain types of dance rock bands do it for me (like them, some of TVOTR, DFA 1979, certain IDLES) and others don't (MGMT, M83, alt-J), but they rule. I think, for one, the heaviness of the guitars here never really relents on the rockier songs and it undergirds the whole thing with an urgency. Karen O's not a perfect singer, but a very good one and really punctuates each line. Fever to Tell remains their best album, and either "Maps" or "Y Control" their best songs, but goddamn "Heads Will Roll" is SO good.

I actually fucked with this mega what a blast what a ride

Enjoyed this one quite a bit. I remember not caring for the first singles when they originally came out, proving I had poor taste in music at the time. They ended up being some of my favorites this time around.

3.5/5 rounded up. I had a ton of fun listening to this record, from the high-energy and punchy opener tracks to the moody and introspective run later into the album. I must say I was expecting a bit more glitter, dance and funk going into It's Blitz!, where instead there's a lot of... mood, on the 11-song tracklist. So I had to readjust my expectations slightly as I went in for a second listen, but I could appreciate the music far better once I realized what I was in for. Just gotta say, this album is not that blitzy for being called It's Blitz!. But, its' pretty good regardless.

Manon is delusional

Highlights: Zero, Heads Will Roll, Soft Shock, Shame And Fortune, Dragon Queen Holy balls, how stupid do I have to be not to know that that's where the meme is from... But yeah, I really liked it. Didn't expect that, but that sure was a mistake. The style is not too different from the rest of the early 2010s alternative, but it also happened to still sound fresh.

Holy shit what a banger. I highly recommend listening to the deluxe version, cause the additional acoustic versions are lovely and show off the lyricism and vocals from this group. I will be adding this to my pop rotation and I'm glad I listened before I died! 8/10

Very listenable. Good vocals

Pleasantly surprised with this, I had only heard heads will roll before

I rlly like it, heads will roll has always been on my music playlists and just never thought to listen to the album ig LOL

I don't know why, but I expected this to be more like The Strokes than what I got, which was Florence and the Machine. Which is not a bad thing. I liked it!

Good timing, I've had Heads Will Roll in my head for months. Love their energy.

I haven’t ever fully dug into an album by them and genuinely enjoyed this. I knew of songs like zero and heads will roll but discovered new gems like skeleton

Probs a bit of nostalgia for me, but its such a great piece of rock imo. Hysteric especially this beautifully echoing track that lingers in the air. Karen O's voice is so gorgeous.

Fun, energetic album. The worst songs were still enjoyable to me and the best ones made me actually focus on the music.

Weirdly good. Different -> interesting. Also there is the meme song heads will roll :D

Grata sorpresa Nunca me había parado a escucharlos

I kinda want to not like this so I can say "yeah yeah yeah? More like yeah yeah nah". But! This was great.

Pretty good album, would like to see them in concert. Highlights: “Runaway”, “Dull Life” and “Little Shadow”

Pretty cool sound and voice

Really enjoyed this album. Will listen to more of their stuff

Great mix of rock with dance/disco grooves. Fun album.
