Reviews (page 5 of 13)

This was a fun pop album! Knew their song Maps (not on this album) and was pleasantly surprised to find I enjoyed a whole album of that soft voiced lead singer. Good stuff!

One of the few bright spots musically from this era.

This is not a band I was expecting to enjoy. This is the second album I hear from them (the first being their debut), and although it sounds nothing like the other one, I think it is as good, if not better. Compared to their debut, this one is not as riff driven and relies a lot more on electronic effects and synths and overall a has a lighter, more playful tone. Usually I'm not a huge fan of this approach, but this album executes it very well. At the same time, it sound big and lush. Even the more quiet songs here sound epic, for some reason, and I like that. The vocal are nice too. It’s just fun. Nothing particularly special, but it’s fun.

A perfectly encapsulated 2000s summer night in audio format. It raves and wriggles and has tension soft enough to hold but ready to explode. Two steps above other indie dance synth punk of the time, it is weird and experimental, and its complete lack of squeaky-clean radio-ready-rock production makes it feel deeply intimate. Nick Zinner's guitars roar and hiss with noisy intricate layers forming massive sounds, yet his exploration in to synths is what forms the bedrock of this album. Peak Karen O vocals all over this thing, every performance fully intentional and filled of emotion. Favourites - Zero, Heads Will Roll, Skeletons, Dull Life, Shame And Fortune, Hysteric

It’s great, it’s cool, but I’ve never been obsessed with it

karen o i love you always forever!!!

7.5/10 Definitive 2000s pop rock. I listened to this a lot when it came out. A confident band with a post punk sensibility doing their thing well. First 4 songs contains 3 solid gold bangers, it does trail off a bit towards the end though. Best: Zero

"Zero" +1, "Heads Will Roll" +2, "Soft Shock" +1

First time listening to this great record, that I always refused to listen to. Dont know why, shame on me. Fav: Soft shock

The first few songs are so GOOOOD

Curiosamente, el segundo lado me gustó mucho más.

Fun to listen to this again.

good and fun

Great. Remembered more of this than I'd realised. Saw them touring this at Reading.

'Heads Will Roll' is just so good

Oh, I love this.

I enjoyed this one a lot. I had not listened enough to this band before, so this was a pleasant surprise.

I only knew Yeah Yeah Yeahs from "Maps" and had no idea they had a synth heavy album. Karen O's expressive vocal performance and lyrics took this record to the next level. I wish they kept their foot on the synth-pedal all the way through the album, but the final three tracks aren't without merit thanks to O.

Loved it. Soft Shock is a banger

Fantastic album. Great soundscape and some instantly catchy songs. Runaway and Heads Will Roll definitive highlights.

The album starts very strong with the first three tracks being great. From there at tone of the album changes to a more sad/introspective which actually is OK, but suddenly felt like a bit of a rug-pull with with where my expectations were after the first few tracks. The vocals here are really good, and while I was not sure if we were supposed to listen to them because they are on the deluxe edition I found that I liked the acoustic versions of these tracks better than the originals. Standouts Zero Heads Will Roll Soft Shock 4/5

Pretty damn great.

I love Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

I like it but i wouldnt listen to it probably most of it but some of it i still really like

Very solid album however not on the same level as Fever to Tell and Show Your Bones. Zero and Heads will Roll are solid singles, Hysteric is lovely.

Cariche

Mal wieder was gutes :) Top: Heads will Roll oder Soft Schock

niezłe ale to nie to

Good! Enjoyed every song but none of them stuck out enough to save/relisten. Love a good female lead though <3

Fun album ! the remix of "Heads Will Roll" is clearly more iconic but the original is still nice. Will revisit it for sure. 8/10. Fav songs : Zero & Dragon Queen

I listen regularly to the album version of Heads Will Roll on one of my "mix tapes". I didn't enjoy the other stuff as much as I hoped that I would, but it wasn't bad - just not better than HWR.

Why is that some of the best 80's synth pop music in this list was written in 2009? Not a bad song on the album. I enjoyed Karen O's vocal style - sometimes reminded me of Berlin.

I had never heard of this group before, but I'm glad they are on this list: I like this album!

Enjoyed it. Shades of Dale Bozzio and Missing Persons.

Wish I could rate it a 4.8 because it's beautiful, just didn't enjoy every single song fully so I can't give it a 5 but I do believe it's higher than a 4! If not for 1 or 2 songs this would be a perfect 10, favorite songs are Soft Shock and Little Shadow

Very enjoyable, love the band and it's unique songs. It starts strong and it maintains that momentum until the end. Great record to listen to, to get you in a good mood.

I was only kinda familiar wit Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but I really liked this album. I can't really put my finger on why. It's poppy, but not in a mainstream way. It's fun, but it's also really beautiful in some ways. Great album.

Enjoyable and fun album. Depending on one's musical interests, Karen O was probably the voice of the 2000's for some. Always energetic and vibrant, she turns in another great leading performance here, along with more tender and delicate showcases as the album goes on ("Soft Shock", "Runaway" among others). This album's sound is characterized by the ARP synthesizer too, which you immediately hear in the first track "Zero" and some of the other made-for-radio singles. Perhaps a bit top-heavy in terms of energy, this album shows some emotional depth the further it goes on. That might be considered a knock for some, but not here. Side note: the A-Trak remix of "Heads Will Roll" bangs. But I don't need to tell you that.

It was fun

Bin positiv überrascht. Irgendwie hat es mich ziemlich gepackt. Macht gute Laune und ich denke, ich werde es mir nochmal anhören.

Good. Not crossed my path before.

This is sending me back to middle school. Angsty but fun, with some slow and pretty songs. A few absolute classics!

A great listen throughout. Pumping and upbeat, but also melancholic and sentimental. It balances these feelings wonderfully as the album progresses. Not a bad song on the entire album.

4.5. Album defined a period of my life and I'm grateful for that.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Fever to Tell was my 56th album to review, and now, I get their second album for my 807th. This is the longest gap I’ve had between albums from the same artist, so I don’t remember much about Fever to Tell. I gave it three stars, but I haven’t listened to any of it since then. I know “Heads Will Roll” off of It’s Blitz!, but everything else on here will be new for me. However, I’m ready to rock! I really enjoyed It’s Blitz!, and I thought it was much more memorable than Fever to Tell. The overall sound of the album was great, and I loved that it was heavily synthesizer driven. The songs were really fun, and this album had a really unique rock sound to it. Further adding to that uniqueness were Karen O.’s vocals, which sounded great. There are some really great songs on It’s Blitz!: I thought “Zero,” “Heads Will Roll,” “Skeletons,” “Dull Life,” and “Hysteric” were really good. “Zero” was an excellent lead-off track, and I was instantly grabbed by its pulsing synth line. “Heads Will Roll” is fantastic too, and I love its dance worthy beat. The synth melody during the verses is haunting, and I also love the frantic synth blips during the chorus. “Skeletons” was easily the best of the slower songs on the album, and I thought it was the most beautiful song too. “Dull Life” had more of a pure rock sound that I really loved, and the guitar playing was fantastic. “Hysteric” was really beautiful too, and I liked its ethereal atmosphere. The thing that I liked most about this album was that it used a wide variety of synthesizer sounds, but the album still sounded really cohesive. My only complaint against It’s Blitz! Is that some songs were a bit boring. Still, this was a really good album, and it’s something I’d come back to.

Sikkert mer banebrytende da det kom enn det låt for meg, men fine låter.

7.5/10. I just realized that the album cover features an egg, and not a bottle. :)

Yep 👍 like it

Just an awesome dynamic rock band I wish I knew sooner....great album.

Girls rock

2000's alternative is a category that I usually go into expecting the worst. Not a fan of a lot of other beloved bands from that era and was expecting this album to be a chore to get through. This is an album that if I listened to another 4 times may go down to a 3 star but they get extra credit for exceeding my expectations for the genre and in a rare move for me I listened to the album a second time immediately after I finished it.

I like their style

This album stomps. After listening through once it started to dawn on me just how influential this album has been on music as a whole and, by inheritance, my taste and moving experience. I'm not a very learned critic so I'm not at all eloquent when it comes to articulating what it is that makes music "good" or "bad". But, what I can say for sure is that it's this kind of music that serves and has served the masses beyond the here and now.

Had never heard the classic in it's original form before amd it's goood. Surprisingly I liked most of the album and think it's really solid. Love the attitude you can feel through Karen O.

Did not know the whole album. Its great!

Perfect disposable NYC lifestyle rock, the kind that the Strokes aren't really good enough to do and LCD Soundsystem are too good to do. I feel cooler when it's on and don't even notice when it leaves.

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs' third album announces itself with a powerful trio of songs, starting with the infectious disco of "Zero," continuing with the driving rock of 'Heads Will Roll" and concluding with four-on-the-floor synths ("Soft Shock"). “Dull Life” displays the dynamics this band were by now becoming known for, building from a slow, moody intro to a galloping rock rhythm. "Hysteric" is a gorgeous meditation on love. Four and a 1/2 stars. Overall, It's Blitz trades some of the band's guitar-forward rough edges for nuance, more sophisticated production (in part from Dave Sitek of TV On the Radio, who I really hope are on this list), softer and more electronic textures, and space in the songs, which are often about love. It’s the sound of a band growing.

"Heads Will Roll" is something that is played in a lot of movies/shows. Didn't know it was from them. The rest of the album is quite nice. I like the acoustic versions.

The Millennial Pixies. More important to the generation that followed than the majority of the generation who was the initial target audience, despite huge critical acclaim and hipster support. It’s Blitz! is a good indie rock, Pitchfork-core, hipster party record. I know, because I was basically at those parties at the tale-end of that era. It also has held up a lot better than a lot of those records, and the first two singles are really good. But I also think it’s surprisingly thin and introverted, which feels antithetical to what the kids today (and me, at the time) envision when they think of ✨indie sleaze✨ hipster parties. When I think of “Heads Will Roll,” I think of the remix; I would never think to put the original version on a playlist, even a throwback party playlist for Retired Hipster Girls in Their 30s™️, because the original, while party-esque, is still really, really lowkey. And that’s the weird thing about It’s Blitz! You think it’s a high-energy album, but really, it’s quite reserved and requires your full attention to appreciate. That wouldn’t really be an issue if the album itself was pushing back against expectations, but actually, this really feels like a sincere attempt at ✨energy✨. So as a result, it inherently falls short of its goal, even if it’s still pretty good for what it is, and the worst moments are the least energetic [ e.g. “Skeletons” and “Runaway”]. But again, Yeah Yeah Yeahs were always a band I really liked but never loved, and that’s about how I feel about this record. But maybe I wasn’t as much of a hipster as I thought I was when I was 19, and maybe the Gen Z girlies just appreciate this more than me.

From the first to the last track the sound had a nostalgic ring to it. It reminds me of an 80's movie intro of some high school coming off age music. It was very calming. Even my 14 year old daughter knows about this group.

Perfect.

Another great album from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs! I really enjoyed this one I had only heard a couple of songs from this album but I really thought it was a good one from the early 2010s indie rock or alt rock scene!

Great synths

Had not previously registered the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Although once started listening I recognised the singles - in particular Heads will Roll - which still gets a decent amount of airtime. Really enjoyed the album - garage with retro synth and cool vocals. Will definitely listen again - a good album to drive to. Will now check out the other yeah yeah yeah album on the list.

Garage-punk guitars are replaced with glossy synths, and new wave and disco beats; but the essence of Yeah Yeah Yeahs remains unaltered. Karen O's immaculate vocal remains the standout feature; now out of its usual context, it's no longer a rock screech, but the soar of an electro-dance diva. Her vocal travels everywhere with proficiency; and yet remains aloof in the coolest way possible. The opening three tracks are true heavyweights from their whole catalogue.

I really liked this. It wasn't what I expected and there were quite a few really great songs

Begint fijn! Vrouwelijke zangeres.

Overall: 7/10 I mostly knew Yeah Yeah Yeahs from the songs Maps and Heads Will Roll (which is on this album) and Karen O's work on the Her soundtrack. I like the sound of this album, it has a very disco inspired feel while retaining a punk sound that I'm sure fans of their early work would appreciate. Almost every song makes me want to dance. Fav Song: Dull Life Least Fav Song: Skeletons

love this album, it's amazing

Tons of hooks and a great full-sounding production from the start. Stabbing synths and driving bass on Zero sets the stage. Heads Will Roll is the big anthem with catchy vocal melodies and crunchy guitars, but I liked Soft Shock more, overlapping synth riffs building throughout. Everything sounds retro because of the keys and vocals but with a modern flair to it. Good if you like your indie rock with a heavy dose of synth pop. Skeletons is a different kind of sound, opting for big soundscapes and drums. From here we mostly alternate between quicker and slower songs. Runaway is more in the vein of Skeletons, epic and cinematic, and Dragon Queen is excellent with a 70s sound and another big bassline. Little Shadow is a dreamy closer. I'm left contented, but conflicted on the rating. Sticking with ****, but on a good day this could go higher.

Really love the blend of rock with a dance kind of vibe. A bit too electronic in sound.

This album took two listens for me to rate. I felt another 3 at first but giving it more attention there's a fair amount going on here. If you were the ideal age this could be a hugely influential album. It's cool, has a lot of fun, and it easy to turn up loud. Glad to have heard it.

Album cover not so much. This is catching my attention. I like the build of the song Skeletons. Nice closing track. Some good compositions, and interesting bits throughout. Overall nothing really blew me away, but pretty good album.

Great record. I think maybe better than Fever to Tell? Have to go back to that, but I gave that a 4 as well. Heads Will Roll and Dull Life being the standouts. If I had a nickel for every great piano driven song called Runaway (Kanye's and now YYY's), I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but its weird it's happened twice. I will complain a little, as great as both YYYs albums are, I don't think the list needs two records from them. Be tough to pick which to keep though.

I have actually never listened to any YYY albums straight through so this was fun. Some lulls for me but the more popularized songs are awesome.

It's almost unfair including this in the mix. This is my era of indie. I do think the album sags a little in the middle, but it's got some insane highs.

This is why I use this thing, to find new music I enjoy, this album has some fun stuff, but some songs felt very repetitive

I like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs

This album kicks ass. I seriously need to listen to more music by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, because prior to listening to this my only exposure to them was Maps and the dance remix of Heads Will Rolls (which I didn't know was them). This album covers a lot of bases, and it all sounds great.

Wow — an indie rock album I really like, didn’t think I’d see the day. To be fair, this is much more polished than most indie out there. Soft Shock and Runaway were the early standouts for me. The mix of synth energy, Karen O’s emotional vocals, and the bold glam edge gave this a ton of replay value. This felt cohesive and dynamic start to finish. A pleasant surprise.

Love the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and this album has a bunch of great songs. Not quite as amazing as Fever to Tell, but still one of my very favorites.

It’s Blitz is a significant improvement over their debut album! Great start with Zero. Not quite sure why Heads Will Roll is their big hit. Strong finish from Shane And Fortune on. Dragon Queen is a standout. (4.2*s)

Was not too happy about another YYY appearance so soon but was pleasantly surprised. It's Blitz! (should be spelled Itz Blitz IMO) is far better than the previous entry. It has both cohesion and variety; I did not expect the Celtic vibes on "Skeletons" but did enjoy. There's a bunch of good tracks here and the whole thing came together and landed solidly. Can hear various influences. The last decent Karen gets a 3.75 for Blondie vibes.

To be honest I wasn't super excited for another Yeah Yeah Yeahs album coming off the heels of the prior entry only a couple weeks ago. I tried to go in with an open mind and lucky for me It's Blitz! surpassed their previous entry and was a very solid album. I'm not sure what they did differently, but something about it produced a very effective indie/alt rock album from start to finish. Each song has its own style and hook yet it remains a cohesive overall collection. I really have no criticism through the 41 minutes of the album as it kept me interested from start to finish. Credit to Yeah Yeah Yeahs for following up their debut with a very good sophomore album. 3.57 stars

Love the shift from Fever to Tell, just all around great with the lows being good. First half is stronger than the second half but the ending song is incredible.

heads will roll. forever a banger.

Nice. Classy. Fifa songs.

Very solid album. I like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs but haven't heard this one through before. I ended up Spotify-liking 5 songs: Zero, Heads Will Roll, Soft Shock, Runaway, Little Shadow - acoustic. It's interesting that the tail end of the album has several acoustic versions of the same songs. In general I like the energy of the regular version, but Little Shadow is the exception for me - that acoustic version is awesome.

Only giving this a 4 because of my slight preference toward their earlier, rawer albums, and want to save my 5 for one of those. That said, this album has a lot of great moments and they wear this more synth/dance sound better than a lot of bands.

Really enjoyed this. It felt like if Florence + The Machines had gone on a more synth route. 4/5

This is from "my time", from the time I was in uni, and yet this is the first time I've heard of this band. However I know the first 2 songs - Zero and Heads Will Roll, from radio stations, from television, who knows from where, I just didn't pay attention to whose they were. I really liked this album! There are no flops, from beginning to end! Very good music, very good vocals (I said it takes for me a lot to find a female rock vocalist who I'll like, but this is definitely what I'm looking for - Karen is excellent), the lyrics are beautiful... This was a real treat. Here, as I write this review, it's playing in the background for the second time and I really like it a lot. There are songs from this that are already on Spotify playlists and that I will continue to listen to: not only Zero and Heads Will Roll which are definitely dance bangers, but also Dull Life, and especially the phenomenal Runaway... And I will definitely see what else Yeah Yeah Yeahs have to offer. Strong, solid 4/5! P.S. Oh, and I almost forgot - the cover of this album is one of the best I've ever seen!

I was already aware of the more dancey side of The Yeah Yeah Yeah's after catching them at a festival, so was familiar with Zero and Head Over Heels. Was also impressed with their more tender side, particularly Hysteric which will definitely stay on my playlist. Sort of a cross between a more tuneful Siouxsie and a more heavy Pretenders, if you like that kind of thing, which I do, apparently.

Like it

heard this before and i listen to some of the tracks regularly Zero - 5/5 Heads Will Roll - 5/5 (️‍🔥️‍🔥️‍🔥) Soft Shock - 5/5 Skeletons - 3/5 Dull Life - 4/5 Shame And Fortune - 3/5 Runaway - 4/5 Dragon Queen - 4/5 Hysteric - 4/5 Little Shadow - 2/5 Average score: 3.9/5 (rounding up to 4) pretty strong start with the first few songs imho. after Soft Shock, the tracks kinda roller-coaster between pretty good and mid until i hit what i consider a weak ending with Little Shadow. nevertheless, this was a fun listen

Thoroughly enjoyable.

## In-Depth Review of *It’s Blitz!* by Yeah Yeah Yeahs Released in 2009, *It’s Blitz!* marked a bold departure for Yeah Yeah Yeahs, shifting from their raw garage rock roots to a polished, synth-heavy sound. This third studio album showcases the band's willingness to experiment and evolve, blending danceable beats with emotional depth. Below is an analysis of the album's lyrics, music, production, themes, and influence, along with its pros and cons. --- ### **Lyrics** Karen O's lyrical prowess shines throughout *It’s Blitz!* as she explores themes of love, vulnerability, and transformation. The lyrics often balance simplicity with evocative imagery: - **"Zero"**: The opening track is an anthem of liberation and self-empowerment. Lyrics like "Get your leather on" set a tone of defiance and freedom[2]. - **"Skeletons"**: A minimalist approach to lyrics creates an ethereal atmosphere. Phrases such as "Fall asleep / Spin the sky" evoke vulnerability and introspection[2]. - **"Heads Will Roll"**: The song delivers playful yet sinister imagery with lines like "Off with your head / Dance 'til you're dead," blending dark humor with dancefloor energy[2][4]. - **"Hysteric"**: Karen O’s tender cooing conveys emotional fragility in this ode to enduring love[1][4]. The lyrics oscillate between cryptic wordplay and straightforward emotional expression, making them accessible yet layered. --- ### **Music** Musically, *It’s Blitz!* is a striking departure from the band's previous albums. Guitarist Nick Zinner shifts focus from frenetic riffs to synthesizers, creating a lush sonic landscape: 1. **Dance Music Influence**: Tracks like "Zero" and "Heads Will Roll" are driven by pulsating synths and drum machines, reminiscent of 1980s new wave acts like New Order and The Cure[2][4]. 2. **Ballads**: Songs such as "Skeletons," "Runaway," and "Little Shadow" slow the pace, offering cinematic strings and atmospheric arrangements that highlight Karen O's vocal versatility[1][4]. 3. **Experimental Sounds**: Zinner incorporates unconventional textures into songs like "Soft Shock," blending whispering guitar lines with electronic flourishes[4]. The album's shift toward electronic production does not abandon the band's rock roots entirely; tracks like "Dull Life" feature prominent guitar work that bridges their past and present sounds[2]. --- ### **Production** Produced by Nick Launay (Nick Cave, Arcade Fire) and Dave Sitek (TV on the Radio), *It’s Blitz!* is a meticulously crafted record: - **Studio Experimentation**: Much of the album was written in-studio, allowing for spontaneous creativity. Drum loops were chopped and layered while Zinner improvised melodies that Karen O built upon vocally[3]. - **Polished Sound**: The production is sleek and expansive, emphasizing synthesizers while maintaining organic elements like acoustic drums on tracks such as "Skeletons"[3][4]. - **Dynamic Range**: From high-energy dance tracks to introspective ballads, the production ensures each song feels distinct yet cohesive[5]. The producers successfully balance the band’s experimental tendencies with mainstream accessibility. --- ### **Themes** Thematically, *It’s Blitz!* explores transformation—both personal and artistic: 1. **Empowerment**: Tracks like "Zero" celebrate individuality and freedom. 2. **Love and Vulnerability**: Songs such as "Hysteric" and "Little Shadow" delve into emotional intimacy. 3. **Reinvention**: The shift in musical style reflects the band’s own evolution, embracing change while retaining their identity. These themes resonate deeply with listeners navigating their own journeys of self-discovery. --- ### **Influence** *It’s Blitz!* was pivotal in redefining Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ sound while influencing indie rock's trajectory: - **Genre Expansion**: By integrating electronic elements into their music, the band demonstrated how rock could evolve without losing its essence[2][4]. - **Critical Acclaim**: The album was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album in 2009[3]. - **Legacy**: Tracks like "Heads Will Roll" became cultural touchstones, widely used in films, TV shows, and remixes. The album solidified Yeah Yeah Yeahs' status as innovators within the indie scene. --- ### **Pros** 1. **Bold Reinvention**: The shift to synth-driven sounds was risky but ultimately rewarding. 2. **Strong Opening Tracks**: "Zero" and "Heads Will Roll" immediately captivate listeners with their infectious energy[2]. 3. **Emotional Depth**: Ballads like "Hysteric" showcase the band’s ability to convey vulnerability alongside exuberance[1][4]. 4. **Production Quality**: The polished sound enhances the album's accessibility while retaining artistic integrity[3][5]. --- ### **Cons** 1. **Uneven Second Half**: Some tracks in the latter part of the album feel less impactful than its electrifying start ("Dragon Queen," for instance)[2][4]. 2. **Loss of Raw Energy**: Fans of their earlier garage rock style may find the polished production lacking grit or spontaneity[1][5]. 3. **Occasional Overindulgence in Synths**: At times, electronic elements overshadow other instruments ("Soft Shock")[4]. --- ### Final Verdict *It’s Blitz!* represents a daring leap forward for Yeah Yeah Yeahs—an evolution that blends danceable beats with emotional resonance. While it may alienate fans of their earlier sound, its polished production and thematic depth make it one of their most compelling works. With standout tracks like "Zero," "Heads Will Roll," and "Hysteric," it balances innovation with accessibility, securing its place as a landmark indie rock album.

Good energy, flow, variety, and sounds. I dig it!

definitely a departure from fever to tell (the only other yeah yeah yeah album I've heard). Its cool though, still very enjoyable. feels very 2010s and it came out in 2009 so technically its ahead of its time no fucking way they made that song that remixed in dance til' your dead remix thing from 2018 thats crazy (heads will roll)

I'm a passing Yeah Yeah Yeahs fan and my favorite album is still probably Fever to Tell, even though I can admit that this one is more "mature" and sonically complex. Always been a fan of the track Hysteric and I like Heads Will Roll just fine. Checking my last.fm history, despite having listens from this album going back to the beginning of my account in 2010, I never actually listened to this all the way through until last year. Before that it was pretty much just the two tracks I noted above. Kind of rambling, but I guess my point is that even if other tracks don't quite reach the heights of those two, I probably should have given it a chance sooner as the whole thing is quite good!

Reminds me of Goldfrapp somewhat

This one starts super strong and does let off the gas a bit, but stays fun throughout.

Heads will roll is an all time banger! The rest of this album doesn’t live up to that song, but it’s a pleasant listen, much moreso than Fever to Tell. The deluxe edition acoustic tracks are also good additions, which is usually not the case on deluxe albums

Enjoyable album. I liked the acoustic alternatives at the end. Definitely mildly recognizable, but not something I'd listened to outside of like maybe the radio before.

Well that was a lot of fun.

Meh, this sounds like everything else on the hipster radio station. Oh wait... seriously, I had other priorities (two little kids) in 2009 so I missed all the pop-punk action, but this is a gem.

Pretty good. First fever to tell is better.

I liked this album more than the other YYY album we've had. The songs were fun and dance-y but also varied and vocally interesting.

7/10 Favorite Tracks: Heads Will Roll, Zero, Skeletons Least Favorite Tracks: Dragon Queen, Shame and Fortune, Hysteric

Karen O is an immense talent and this album is a fun, well crafted record. The songs have a fun, energetic depth that I enjoy. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are one of the better modern bands.

This one kind of surprised me. I'm a bit ambivalent about the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, even though "Maps" and "Cheated Hearts" were on heavy rotation for me in college. I didn't care much for "Heads Will Roll" when it came out, so I didn't have super high hopes for this album. But I was proved wrong. "Zero," "Soft Shock," "Skeletons," and "Little Shadow" were all great songs, and I loved the overall vibe of the album. I appreciated "Heads Will Roll" a lot more seeing how it fit in the album. Not a perfect album, and it drags a bit in the middle, but in general a very pleasant surprise for me.

FIRST ALBUM!!! 23/2/25 -off the bat good vocals -production is good but could be better -cunty -reminds me of lorde

I've long loved Fever to Tell, and enjoyed Mosquito on release, but somehow never listened to It's Blitz! I really enjoyed this experience. It's way more dancey than the other stuff I know by them. This is a lot more polished than Fever to Tell and a lot more poppy too, but it works. Unfortunately, fewer songs seem to stick than on Fever to Tell and I think maybe that would change with further listens? I hope. There are a couple of real bangers here.

Honestly, I did not expect this album to sound like it does. It's slower and more introspective than standout "Heads Will Roll" makes it seem. I would normally give this a 3, but have to bump it up just because HWR is such a great track. Best Songs: Zero, Heads Will Roll, Dull Life Worst Songs: Dragon Queen

Incredible from start to finish, only a couple songs I’d prob not go back to but all in all it’s a great album for both private listening and group settings. Several of the songs stand the test of time in my opinion and age quite well, such as Heads Will Roll, Runaway and Dull Life. If I could give it 4.5 I would!

This album is great from start to finish. It kicks off with an electrifying punch, then seamlessly weaves in emotion without losing its edge. The mix of synth-driven anthems and raw energy still hits just right. Maybe nostalgia plays a part, but It’s Blitz! remains a banger that never gets old!

Solid singles and an overall great album. One to listen to again

Not as hard as their previous releases, but there is no denying Karen O's voice is magic.

Great hooks, tension and drama.

нормально нормально

ok v fun i loved

When this album first came out, I was disappointed that the YYYs had made a new wavey synth album, because everyone was doing that at the time. Karen O's voice really saves the day here.

If I had stopped before the acoustic versions, I think this would have been 5 stars, but with those tracks it got repetitive. While the first half was amazing, it fell off at the end for me, but Heads Will Roll is a certified banger, so I'm giving it 4.5 stars and rounding down.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs has really surprised me. I don’t think this one is as good as their other on this list but this is still really good. 4 prolly 4.5.

Hell yeah! This is great. Good amount of range. Solid production. Unique voice. They have an original sound without being annoying. Obviously “Heads Will Roll” is iconic, but I also enjoyed “Zero”. Karen O sounds a tad similar to Björk on that track, but actually listenable. I love “Soft Shock”. I thought “Skeletons” was great. “Dramatic” had a very nice crescendo. “Dragon Queen” is very lyrically entertaining. Finally, “Little Shadow” is fantastic finally. Really enjoyed the whole thing. 4/5

zero and heads will roll are amazing holy moly

glitter on the wet streets, silver over everything

# Album Name: Its Blitz # Artist: Yeah Yeah Yeahs # Rating: 4/5 # Comments: Opens the album with two killer tracks. These are quality. The rest of the album cant live up to that standard but theres some really catchy tunes. Good stuff. Karens voice is good. Cant knock it # Top Tunes: First two are killers. But the entire album is good! I can listen to it all the way through. # Would I listen to it again? Yes

I really need to listen to more Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

A thought hit me while listening to this, "This really sounds a lot like "Maps", who did that? Oh it's the same band". We have had "Fever to tell" before and while that was at the start of the rock revival movement, this is more towards its end. You can tell as it's leaving the more rock centered songs for more electronic. To preface this review, I am a sucker for rock revival 00s music. The start of the album is really good. Zero is high energy, before the star of the album "Heads will roll". Heads will roll (espacially the remix) was a staple of any indie-club around the time of release. It is still a very good song. The rest of the album slows it down a bit borrowing more from “LCD Soundsystem” than anything else (the exception is the rock-oriented “It’s a dull life”). While I think I am more of a fan of the rock YYY than the electronic version I think this is a good album. The vocals are on point, there are enough good songs to keep you interested and the album art is really cool. It goes a bit to slow at points but still I think this album lands firmly as a 4 star.

Good album and I love her voice. I was familiar with Zero and Heads Will Roll as singles from this one, but Dull Life, Dragon Queen and Hysteric are all strong songs as well.

Some of the catchiest records I’ve heard in recent memory. Only complaint is the B side is a bit weaker. Will be in my rotation for awhile.

Yeah yeah f*ck yeah!! Glad I finally listened to an album of theirs. Always been intrigued by Karen O’s voice. Of course ‘Heads Will Roll’ gets its due praise as a party rock anthem, but another that could join in that category is ‘Shame and Fortune.’ Other highlights for me were ‘Skeletons’ and ‘Dragon Queen.’

I definitely under appreciated this when I was first introduced but this is so classic

I love Karen O’s voice and have always liked the handful of Yeah Yeah Yeahs songs I knew, but this album really hit for me, especially the acoustic versions of the songs at the end of the special edition. Great album that I will definitely come back to

A great album to listen to while in labor. Might’ve stressed the nurses to listen to

Great album for Carly to give birth to.

Классный альбом, есть хитяра, который в свое время очень нравился

nice and catchy album, a solid one

Had never even heard of this band, had heard heads will roll just didn’t know it was them, now a big fan of this album, high impact high speed, this will be in the workout playlist

A boring start for me, but this album picks up the pace after a few tracks and comes together really nicely. I'll be listening again at some point. Favorite tracks - Skeletons, Dull Life, Shame and Fortune, Runaway

This album was a pleasant surprise. Also, the cracked egg? Heads will roll (:

Enjoyed the collision of styles but felt a bit samey by end. Good on headphones

I was fully ready to hate as soon as I pressed play, but it was far from terrible. I'm not a huge fan of her voice but this format works for her and I was very pleasantly surprised by the structure of the album, as it seemed well thought.

Really good alternative album. Not much to say (I could only listen to it once)

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs always get a good rating from me. Favorite track: Dragon Queen

Very fun and cool album, very much up my alley

I didn't know what to expect here but I was pleasantly surprised - this album was a really fun listen! I will be checking out some more of their catalogue. 4/5

i liked it! the instrumentals were fun and it was generally a good time

two dongs way up.

THAT SONG?!?!?! Another very unexpected 'I know that one' moment! Catchy, shiny yet authentic album but it strayed a bit too close to elbow territory with the specific flavour of meaningless indie that I dislike for a few moments. The rest is still good enough to make it back to a 4

Divertido. Skeletons y Shame & Fortune van a la biblioteca. Amé la reminiscencia a una Siouxsie joven.

Very cool stuff. Poppy punkish music with vintagey synths mixed in. Like if the Talking Heads went to trade school instead of art school. Instead of boring you with discussions about polyrhythms, they'd be tagging your house with cool graffiti while you're busy dancing.

Really fun pop rock album, I haven't listened to their other stuff but I will certainly check it out. The singers voice is great, loved her 4/5

I fell off a bit over the holidays but there didn’t seem to be anything too pressing that I missed. This however is a great album and highly underrated band. It’s a shame that their music has become part of various TikTok dances, but it’s also cool to see them being exposed to a new generation. It’s like a Gen Xer fucking to Englebert Humperdink.

I love the intro of this album, it just sets the tone for the next 40 mins... "Zero" is powerful, and reminds one of Berlin in their heyday, then it rolls into "Heads Will Roll" which is a savage tune with attitude and a killer groove. "Skeletons" & "Hysteric" are very different from what I previously knew from YYY are very lovely songs. "Dull Life" is right inline with their core sound, as is "Dragon Queen" which feels like a snake uncoiling before it strikes. I'd give this 3.5 starts but not more and I am a YYY fan since the minute I heard "Maps" in 2023.

I liked this. The singer was very good. The songs were mostly very good.

A great album that reminds me of someone that I used to work with and that makes it a little bit more special.

Every alt girl from high school that I had a crush on absolutely loved this album and when I was a kid I only downloaded it so that they could see the album art on my ipod but I never really listened to it. It's actually a very cool genre bending album with a lot going on to it. It's dark pop - it's proto alternative - it's just very cool.

Enjoyed this album, ‘Heads will Roll’ is the stand out but the rest surprised with their alternative sound.

This is a good listen imo. It definitely sounds like a product of its time and I don’t mean that in a bad way at all! It has that late 00’s/early 10’s alt sound about it that I loved at the time. Plus I think Karen O is a great singer.

Whoa—put this album on three hours ago and just resurfaced. I think I would like anything Karen O sang acoustic. ✅✅✅ Soft Shock ✅✅ Little Shadow

It was nice to listen something "new".

I kind of lost touch with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs after the first LP, but this is absolutely great. Intense, gorgeously crafted songs with that post-punk edge and pop chops. Loving this.

Zero still sounds great

Enjoyable album, with a few recognisable tracks that I didn't know were them!

In a word, magical. I loved it. That is more than one word, but this was really nice! Favourite track: Runaway.

it's definitely a comedown album, and I think the first song or two plus the name confuses that. I think that's always why I avoid this album even though I love 2-3 songs in this album. I think if it was played in reverse I wouldn't be so depressed and exhausted by the end of it. But it's a great album, well written and probably one of the better bands of that era, if not the best. but. man this is a downer of an album...

sounds like the kind of music that they play at a football stadium while the fans are still arriving, while they come out to warm up. I like it.

Me gusto. Karen O's voice reminds me of Dale Bozzio.

I liked it! It was pretty, poppy, a bit gritty. 4/5

I don’t love the dancey songs on It’s Blitz! Heads Will Roll is the primary example. Certainly the best known song on the album and my least favorite, but the rest is fantastic 8.2/10

Enjoyed most of this. Karen has a really cracking voice, especially when she's showing a lot of vulnerability. Skeletons in particular shows it beautifully, and puts me in mind of the recent (very good) Let's Eat Grandma album Two Ribbons. My main complaint with it is that the drum style is really incessant and unvaried, and overshadows a lot of otherwise really good songs. I like a bit of breakbeats in my life, but I like them sparely.

A pleasant surprise. I was expecting Yeah Yeah Yeahs was a band similar to the Struts. But when the first song started and the vocalist kicked in, I really dug it. Top tracks: "Zero," "Dull Life," "Shame and Fortune," "Dragon Queen"

Not quite as awesome as their debut album, but still a fun album with a lot of similar elements as the first one, with the synth cranked up a bit (and I'm okay with that). A bunch of up-tempo head boppers - Zero, Heads Will Roll (both of which I am quite familiar and always enjoyed), Dull Life (I knew this one too, decent), and Faces (I did not know this one at all but what a fun track!). Some deeper or more brooding pieces - Skeletons (not as good as MAPS but solid), Runaway, and Hysteric (maybe as good as MAPS? I really dug this more and more each time I heard it). And then some solid in between kind of songs - Soft Shock and Shame and Fortune. Easy decision to put this on multiple times and if I didn't before I have to go listen to more of their stuff now.

Fun album. Music has a very cool vibe and Karen O has a great voice and style...reminds me a bit of Siouxsie. Would definitely revisit. One weird moment was how quiet Heads Will Roll was compared to Zero. Very strange choice, or maybe something's wrong with Apple Music... Favorite tracks: Zero (great driving beat), Dull Life, Shame and Fortune, Runaway, Dragon Queen.

First off - brilliant album cover. This is a very solid, ear-wormy synth-pop-rock album. I do prefer the rowdy art punk style of Fever to Tell but this'll still be entering the rotation for me too. It is a little front-loaded, losing some steam after the first few songs (except the excellent "Runaway" deeper in the album at track 7, currently stuck in my head alongside "Zero"). Karen O does a great job with the vocals and I'm currently trying to decide if I need to begin clearing mental space for a pedestal to put her on.

Album I forgot about. Pretty cool to relisten to. Fades a little towards the end, but solid overall. Standout songs: Zero Skeletons Shame and Fortune

Highly enjoyable. Starts very strong and good. Slows down a bit in the middle.

Pretty great album. Zero and Heads Will Roll are the stand-outs.

2 songs in - strong starter followed by a banger. Fun, carefree album, blending genres, infectiously catchy, clean production,

solid but nothing special with the disclaimer that I did have a migraine while listening. rounding up but i'd give it a 3.5 if i could.

Karen O is cool and the songs are good

Maybe it's because I had a string of 1-star albums before this but I really enjoyed it and her unique voice

4 - Another one hit song album, better this time

🫨🪩🫨

Two Yeah Yeah Yeahs records only 19 albums apart? Alriiighht. I think they're both really solid. Fever To Tell was a little more punk-ish and It's Blitz! dips into the arena rock sound a bit more. I already knew and loved Zero and Heads Will Roll, but I found a couple of other gems to enjoy, like Dull Life and Runaway (ooh and Hysteric). I think I like this slightly more than FTT, but FTT has Maps, so it's a tough call. I already thought Karen O was awesome, but I appreciate her so much more thanks to this project.

Vibrant, fun, energetic and captivating. This records is a really enjoyable listen and kept my attention throughout. A couple songs I was familiar, but this record as a whole is really nice. The vocals, cadence and instrumentation match so well together and make it very seamless. Will definitely revisit this one.

Great sort of electronic album ig? Good vibes :D

Dang this album is awesome. Zero is my new favorite song

iconic

Karen O is one of the best leads of the last 25 years.

Just a really solid collection of indie rock tunes with some very slick production. Fans of the band’s earlier, more raw sound may find themselves disappointed, but they can do that while I get down to “Heads Will Roll”.

interesting mix of grunge-influenced synth pop and indie alternative that has had a lasting impact

Fun and creative. Great start with Zero into Heads Will Roll. Skeletons also stood out to me.

It’s a 4.5 and it had 5 ⭐️ considerations

The Yeah Yeah YEahs have been a band that I've always liked and listened to but never fully delved into until now. Came in with high expectations because of that and was not disappointed. This rocked and was very mesmerizing in a way. 8/10

Again a group that I didn't know until today. When I saw Rock, Punk, and Indie as genres for this band, I expected something completely different. I was surprised to listen to some sort of mix of synth-pop with an alternate attitude. Kind of contradictive, but making it work together beautifully.

5/5 start, and the rest is 4/5. One song got stuck in my head.

Overall it's ok

I only knew heads will roll so the album was a lot different than I expected. I was very pleasantly surprised. Definitely added a few songs to my likes.

Very good some top tunes

Basically everything I could possibly ask for from a piece of music. Slightly torn up that this hasn’t been in my life since birth, but it’s here now which is what counts.

Blije indiepop met een zuurstokkleurtje. Kan je best een aantal keer draaien hoor, niks mis mee, een dame met een prettige stem en energieke nummers in het algemeen. Maar is hier verder wat bijzonders aan?

So good

I love this album. There is no filler. All the songs are really good. Some are even excellent! Count me as a fan. https://open.substack.com/pub/richcain/p/project-1001-its-blitz-by-yeah-yeah?r=4ztyq&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web

Really enjoyed this one. I've enjoyed the YYY hits (like "Gold Lion"), but this had some enjoyable ones I'd never heard. I particularly liked "Dull Life"

Not my favorite Yeah yeah yeahs but it was so good.

Ógeðslega gott indie rokk. Hrikalega þétt sound og flott lagasmíði.

Ótrúleg tilviljun að fá tvær plötur í röð frá sömu hljómsveit. Báðar plöturnar báðar mjög fínar. Mér fannst eldri platan hrárri og skemmtilegri.

So you're saying, be for i die, I absolutely, MUST LISTEN to not 1 but TWO Yeah Yeah Yeah albums? That's what you're telling me? Do I have that right? This is proof positive that this list is mostly filler. Or he should have done 1001 SONGS... That being said, this is a much better album than their first. They spread their wings more, reigned themselves in and made an album that's entertaining, less boring and quite interesting to listen to Dragon Queen did it.

I enjoyed this quite a bit. It's very polished which is different than a lot of the garage type indie punk that is so distinct. The only real detractions I have is that some of the tracks feel too producer designed as party punk hits. At their best they remind me of P!NK and at their worst, Jojo Siwa. The hit tracks do slap, and Skeleton is also very good. When they slow down and go more bare bones on the latter half it adds to the album and shows off different sides to that same sound. Overall, pleasantly suprised.

God I hate electronica. I will listen to the album hating every song. Ok. I was wrong. This very good. The acoustic versions of some of the songs real deciding factor.

Released after they had already established themselves as indie-rock sweethearts, It's Blitz! features much "cleaner" sounding production with a greater emphasis on electronic instrumental than their debut Fever To Tell. Zero opens the album and sets the stage with a slow-building, but ever-driving synth pop indie rock jam. Immediate one-two punch with Heads Will Roll taking the second slot on the album. Quite possibly their most recognizable song and certainly one of their best suited for a dance floor. I really enjoy Skeletons as well -- kind of reminds me a bit of Japanese Breakfast in synthyness and pacing + vocal delivery. Runaway is a standout of the back half. This was solid as expected from Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I have to say, I think I actually enjoy Fever To Tell and their latest release (Cool It Down) more as a whole, but this was very enjoyable. Soft 4.

Heads Will Roll is a jam I do like the A-Trak version better just dancey af. Great album that is so synthy and danceable.

This really is synth Florence

It's a very good pop album.

Liked this one even more than the previous YYY offering.

Karen O will forever be the early oughts goth riot girl that was edgy as hell and kicked your ass with her vocals. Backed by a tight trio, they are forever a sound and vibe of a period in my life. This was their "mature" album and a little bit of a departure from the dark aggressiveness of their earlier career. It spawned some dance hits and brought a dark hue to fill out the jangly glittered NY scene of the Strokes and LCD Soundsystem.

Big fan of this album, Dull Life / Soft Shock / Heads Will Roll are highlights for me

Lowk a banger! Heads will roll deservedly is the hit, but it manages to do something very interesting as a whole too

Pretty polished and sharp album. A lot of fun.

Heads Will Roll bumps this up to a 4 since it is timelessly remixed, otherwise there were some boring points.

Lyssnade först på jobbet och tänkte att det var helt okej. Lyssnade sen i lurar och jävlar vad bra det blev då. Bäst är Zero, Heads Will Roll och Dull Life. Klar 4a

Habil rock.

Klar fyra.

Now we're talking! 3.7.

Love the punk synth vibe

i feel mildly pandered to with some of these selections and it sounded cool

Unique voice and sound

not sure I knew the Yeah Yeah yeah before this, but liked it a lot..

Imminently listenable. At home in a "trainspotting" sequel. The vocals harken to early Joan Jett + Miley Cyrus, and mesh beautifully with the synth and driving beats. Later tracks were less dance, more "dance in the rain". Dig it. Will listen to it again for sure, and with 1001 albums looming that says something.

Goeie. Vooral de up tempo nummers waren hard. Leuke synths

I had Heads Will Roll on my favorites playlist, but wasn't familiar with any other songs. I also looked back at my history & noticed I didn't like the 1st Yeah Yeah Yeahs album (Fever to Tell) that I rated so I went into this with an open mind. I liked this one a lot better, I don't remember what I disliked about the other one but I will listen to this one again.

Heads will roll is an absolute classic. Solid album so far.

7/10 wie Vampire Weekend

surprise - never heard of the but the mix was good.

This is the first enjoyable album I've had this week, so my standards may be lower than normal at this point, but I really liked this one. Upbeat and unique.

The last Yeah x3 album we had was weirdly a miss for me. I was pretty disappointed (I'd always liked their big songs!), so I was happy to see them get another chance. I liked this one a lot more - no real standouts beyond Heads Will Roll for me personally, but solidly good all the way through. Always a pleasant surprise to see a band with a woman in it on the list (smiling through tears).

Had no clue Heads Will Roll was by them. Really like her voice. Great lead to some great songs

Much better than expected. Chilled and solid, playable

After some mediocrity, it was refreshing to hear something solid. First time hearing this particular album by this band and I was impressed. I've heard other albums by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and liked them as well. This was a nice discovery that I will revisit again.

I saw this band live in 2003, opening for the White Stripes. Fun show, much like this album. Not quite 5 star material for me, but this was definitely better than most from this era.

Watch out, here come the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, fresh of their indie darling status, and they're gonna dance till you (the royal you, personally) are dead, but you know they won't love you like I love you... They finally crossed over into art pop and are not above committing glamorous murder on the dancefloor. This entire album is bitching way harder, way longer than it has any right to.

I really enjoy this one. Great pop songwriting, very ecletic and original. Key tracks: Zero Heads Will Roll Soft Shock Hysteric

I had heard of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs before listening to thing, but I had no idea what they sounded like -- I thought maybe they were a punk band for some reason. Their sound is really fresh and polished but with a sharp edge that I really enjoyed. The lead singer has a great voice and the songs were all really driving and powerful and I had a great time listening to the album. So much so that I was a little sad when it ended. Four stars.

A band that somehow got bypassed by me. Most likely during the time when the digital floodgate opened. This is good stuff. And certain moments even sound a little like Debbie Harry, Siouxsie and the Banshees peeking in with their own added edge, which is very cool. Depending on the day and my listening mood this might get a lower score, but today I’m rating up. Yes. Yes. Yes.

Love me some Aughts Rock

This is a 3*/4* tweener but I am rounding up because there is enough here to tickle my rock pleasure bone. Karen O is a G. 3.5/5

I actually never used to be a fan of Karen O's voice (but liked a few songs). Listening to this whole album, actually changed my mind. I do like her voice, and I really like these songs.

Really good

Karen O has a great voice that is very identifiable. Especially when she goes a little lower and that smoky side comes out. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs have a nice mix of power pop and alternative. Never full blown dance music but not shoe-gaze or emo either. A good listen!

Like this a lot. I especially like Dull Life. The variety between the noisiness and quieter parts is nice in the album. Really got into some of the melodies.

Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah

I like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and I was still surprised at how much I enjoyed this. They seem to have clamped down on some of their excesses on this one without losing what makes them special. Good stuff.

Indeciso tutto il tempo ma si è concluso con un banger quindi 4

Maybe the peak of YYY’s output, they really hit their stride with this one. Confident and fun.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs… more like yes yes yeses!

First few songs great then it trails off

I miss maps but this is a solid record in its own right.

Love this group and love this album!

The first time I heard the Yeah Yeah Yeahs was on an annual mixtape given by a good friend in 2005 (again…thanks!) They were good then, but unfortunately life, grad school, marriage and kids happened. I am sorry I didn’t follow them closer because this was a great album! It is a bit of a time capsule to the Indie-era 2000’s but has a unique blend of indie-style writing and EDM influence that is also found in MGMT, Naked & Famous and early Wolf Alice. Key tracks are Zero and Dull Life, though on my current third listen I will probably find another. This is going to get listened to repeatedly in the near future!

This is great. I love Karen O's voice, and the music is spiky and interesting. Opening track is the standout, but several great tracks on here

I’m not overly familiar with this band; only a track here or there. I think this is one of the better LP’s that fuse rock and electronic together. One never seems to outshine the other, so they’ve struck that perfect balance. The ethereal ballads help to keep it grounded, and they are really good. Karen O’s voice is also phenomenal and seems to be fairly versatile. I’ll definitely check out more of their discography in the future. Really good album.

I really enjoyed It's Blitz! and I didn't expect to. Yeah Yeah Yeahs are one of those bands I've heard of but never knowingly heard or sought out, but they immediately reminded me of a smaller/less known act I like called Rews, who I found supporting someone else a few years ago and added to my regular rotation, and also a few tracks from more recent Dead Sara music (their earlier stuff was heavier), who are one of my absolute favourite bands. This is really similar in style in places, an infectious and bubbly pop-rock energy with some quality atmospheric sounds. Zero, Skeletons, Runaway and Hysteric were really really good, everything else is solid, this is a good 4 for me. PS listen to Dead Sara, because they're great.

A+. This was just really solid. An album of a melodic, artsy punk with vocals that continually reminded me of Chrissie Hynde. Saying this as someone who very much enjoys and respects The Pretenders, I wish they were making this music. Forget brass, this is gold in pocket.

🎧This album is WAYYY better than Fever to Tell. Some great lyrics, like on Hysteric. I was taking a walk in Bucktown while listening and saw a guy riding a bike backwards, sitting on his handlebars and playing an acoustic guitar.

Man this one's really underrated, but still kind of lacks a certain amount of juice to get them to the 5 stars category

Karen O is the ultimate rock star. Attitude. Flare. Style. Sexiness. She brings it on every song on this album. The bass lines kill and the band is cooking.

yeah yeah yeah great stuff 78/100

I think i like their first album better, but this one is pretty good.

pretty decent 00s indie album. definitely a little on the artsy side, if you're into that. i felt like it started with a bang but quickly sort of fell off. the first third of the album is a lot better than the last two thirds, in my opinion. but the album is pleasant enough and i feel i could grow to like it upon additional listens.

some great millenial indie music

relisten. So good

C'était cool.

Starts and ends well with a bit of drift in the middle. Hysteric and Heads Will Roll are all-timers.

Wasn’t expecting this to be good. But it is.

Good early 2000’s indie album

Very enjoyable. I'd never listened to YYY's before but I'll be checking out more of their work.

7 / 10 Indie Rock con voz femenina. Aunque es un rock bastante ligerito el disco es bastante disfrutable.

7/9/24. Yeah Yeah Yeahs are consistently fun! Heads Will Roll is a classic, but all of these tracks are well produced and easy to take in. This one deserves to be revisited occassionally.

This is another one I had only really heard the singles from. It's a lot of fun, which I expected, but goes harder than I thought. I wouldn't mind finding this on vinyl.

I’m surprised I haven’t heard this album since it’s one of the sounds I lean toward but I’m so happy I found this! I already downloaded the album and am excited to hear more. I feel like I’ve heard 1-2 songs by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and didn’t get the same vibe so maybe the radio plays aren’t really representative.

Surprisingly refreshing . Never heard of Yeah Yeah Yeahs and the record contained some very good indie tunes with some aspects of rock . This was very good and I will be on the look out on their discography more.

Ganske god plade.

This is fantastic. I've heard them before, but maybe it was earlier stuff and it didn't grab me. This could someday be a 5, is a 4.5, but rating it 4

I like it!

Zieke cover, en nog een album na 2005! Heads will roll erop nee joh
