Great sound.

Even if every song isn't a total smash, you're never bored listening to this album as they veer from an almost 50s pop revival (Pretty Baby) to borderline punk (I Know but Don't Know.) The steady new wave thread is present through out, held down by ultimate cool girl Debbie Harry's vocals. Might be more like 4.5 stars, but rounding up because Debbie Harry is a bad bitch.

Some albums are just perfect aren't they?

This is a 4.5 for me, justice for half stars etc, but I love Queen Harry too much to round down here

Too cool

Absolutely fantastic album from the start to the finish. Watched Blondie on TOTP back in the day and was instantly in love with Debbie Harry!

Probably my favorite New Wave album I’ve listened to all the way through. As one of the creators of the genre, it’s only fitting that they do it the best. Parallel Lines doesn’t have the same punk attitude as their self-titled, but that anti-establishment flair does glimmer from time to time. 4.5/5

One of the best albums ever!

Dang. Banger after banger. The songs I hadn’t heard before were bangers. The hits were obviously bangers. A great album.

Geniales.

OMG, how long ago was it when I listened to this album? It must have been ages. It's still one of the greatest pop albums ever. Harry's voice and this almost crazy mix of different genres with a breadth and depth seldomly seen created something very special.

Great album, lots of variety and a great voice on Debbie Harry

Stone cold classic. First album in a minute that I finished listening and now it’s in my head.

blondie's third album, as well as their other early entries in the late 70s and early 80s are a spectacle. with plenty of generational hits and forgotten tracks as well, this is a really solid punk rock album. miss debbie harry alone has a tough and unbothered energy all her own, and even with tense recording sessions, the band and her voice go hand in hand. this album is significant in the fact that it played an absurd part in shaping the rebellious, counterculture new wave sound that would blossom like a rose in the 1980s.

Amazing amount of hits here in just one album, some absolute classics here as well 4.5*

Actually nice 70's rock. Enjoyable back to back.

This album feels it was put together by record execs and it was one of the times they got it absolutely right. They didn't know what to do with Blondie so they did everything and it worked.

Never listened to the whole album despite knowing and enjoying a bunch of the songs. So much of this can be heard as influencing what would come for the next 4 decades.

The less famous tracks are great, too.

Banger after banger of feel good new wave

grocery shopping

Fun ride from start to finish. No need for polite and sombre analysis, the vibe was immaculate.

A perfect concoction of punk and pop with a hint of disco, shaken with feminist vigour — and it still tastes as good as it did back in '78.

По мнению А: 5/5 По мнению С: 5/5 ИТОГОВАЯ ОЦЕНКА: 5/5 (22.01.2025)

It has some absolutely top tier tracks. It also has a few weaker tracks that almost made me deduct a star. But how could I not give ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ to the album that contains Sunday Girl, Picture This, I'm Gonna Love You Too, and One Way Or Another?

A great pop/new wave rock album. Good from start to finish, even beyond the hits.

Ahmazing!

I love it! it's a really easy thing to vibe to. It's great to listen to when you are in a energetic mood.

Great poppy album

Super rad! Blondie forever!

God what I would do to be Debbie Harry... who doesn't want to be Debbie Harry????? Just the coolest of the cool, I'd say her and Stevie. This album is not new to me, and to be honest was lovely to listen to it again as I don't think I've listened to it since I was about 13. It deserves a 5 I think because of it is a deep meaningful album but it merges a lot of genres, it is fun and it just has that added spunk and coolness from Harry that just... IT'S JUST COOL OK. Love that punk is a constant residue throuhout, you can hear it in every track but it's not a punk record. 50s esque sounds in 'Picture This' but then the anger that grows in it and gumption shows how we have moved on from 50s rockabilly, especially for female vocalists. New Wave sounds in 'Fade Away and Radiate' at the beginning at least, but also like that it doesn't try to be anything more than it should if that makes sense. Overall, I am a big fan. I think 'Hangin' On The Telephone' is still the best but apart from that I love 'Picture This' and '11:59'. Got to always love Blondie.

Really phenomenal new wave/post punk. Boasts some super-creative songwriting, great sing-along melodies, and some early rock influences.

a landmark in pop, punk, and pop-punk!!!! debbie harry is a genius. this album still sounds fresh, i would have easily believed it was made in 1987 despite being released in '79. effortlessly cool and weird, still accessible!! 1. heart of glass 2. hanging on the telephone 3. one way or another

Classic - trying to get Aga to move from Abba to Blondie...

Several certified bangers in here. Many more which are above average to great. It melds New Wave, disco, 50s rock n roll, to create a definitive late 70s post-punk album.

I like blondie SOMETIMES

Pretty much perfect

It's Blondie's Parallel Lines, for God's sake. Instant five for the cover alone.

One of my all time favourite albums. Back to back pop classics.

I liked it more each time I listened through.

ну это моёеее,даже добавить нечего,обожаю Дебби Харри икона,а ещё она обещала новый альбом в 2025 году, ждём...

rename it 5 meixcans and one blondie

Excellent stuff! So many bangers on one album. Simpsons: Yes

Excellent album, the really well-known songs are great, the rest of the album is also decent. I should listen to more Blondie.

I remember my dad getting a free copy of this from the newspaper and having it in his van for years before he replaced it with Fleetwood Mac. This was a really nice album to listen to on a Sunday morning; they were all good with some absolute bangers throughout.

3 months ago I worked on a Blondie tribute act and was quietly optimistic. I know some of their songs (Blondie is the name of the band, not the singer, something I learnt working that night!) and they’re pretty good. I finished the gig and was blown away by how much I enjoyed it. Now onto this album. All good shit, 5 stars!

Perfect power pop. Those rhythm changes on 'Heart of Glass'!

State of the art new wave / power pop. If you don't find yourself grooving with a smile to the playful time signatures on "Heart Of Glass" are you really human?

So many bangers. Can remember jumping around to this album that my dad has on vinyl when I was small... and not much has changed. Love Blondie!

Best album yet. Absolute banger.

Exceptional.

This album was awesome I really fucked with this. Heart of Glass and One Way or Another are classics in my eyes. Both have good stories: One time I was driving my neighbor, Dougie, home from school. We were tired of listening to my Spotify playlists, and randomly agreed to listen to some good ole' FM radio instead. The song that came on right after we switched was Heart of Glass by Blondie, the first time we both ever heard it! We both instantly loved it and would listen to it together to and fro from school quite often :). One Way Or Another I used in my short film for a high school film class. All my classmates really liked that short film I made and I remember the year after I took that class, students in the current class would come up to me and say how much they loved that film I made, I was very proud of myself :). So overall, this album houses two songs that I have good memories with, and I loved the rest of it. Funny how I never checked it out after liking these two songs. 5/5!

Three tracks in and I was beginning to think it was their best of album. I knew it wasn't though as I have that and quite frankly it's not as good as this one. Great songs done really well, and not just the well known ones. It's definitely on the to buy list.

Blonde are great, the New York scene in the 70's was buzzing with talent. The guitar work is fantastic, the different edges and emotions Debbie Harry manages to put into her vocals show how good a singer she was. Not really a bad track. A low 5.

¡Genial! ¡No hay canción que no esté genial!

Classy

A timeless classic.

Deservedly iconic, an easy five stars

Great album, hits all the right notes!

wat een klappers, wist niet dat dit album zo bangin was

Saved Prior: One Way Or Another, Heart of Glass Not Saved: 12. I Know But I Don't Know Off Rip: 11. Will Anything Happen 10. Fade Away And Radiate 9. Hanging On The Telephone 8. 11:59 7. Just Go Away 6. Picture This 5. Sunday Girl 4. Heart Of Glass 3. Pretty Baby 2. One Way Or Another 1. I'm Gonna Love You Too (The Clash definitely heard this one before writing Rudie Can't Fail) Overall Notes: hahahahahahahhaahahahh it's so good Hanging On The Telephone isn't even in the top half of the better songs on this album and I really really like that song. Let's just say I 100% would've followed the Blondie Instagram account.

It’s on the Mount Rushmore of American New Wave albums. From Harry’s sultry and sarcastic expressive vocals to the lyric snide to the surprisingly complex guitar lines to the perfect pop ditty composition…. It’s an amazing album with no parallel. Pardon me the wordplay.

One of my favorite genres is alt/indie rock from the aughts, especially The Strokes. So, not only was I totally surprised how much I loved this album, I was even more taken aback by how much it sounded like something from the 2000s. Obviously Blondie inspired those bands, not the other way around, but of course, I'm coming around to Blondie in reverse. Anyway, there was not a bad track on this album, with a couple of recognizable hits. It has great flow, catchy riffs, and ripping solos. Man, I can't wait to come back to this one. Easy 5 stars.

An absurdly strong album. A bunch of these tunes I've heard an order of magnitude more times than I'd voluntarily choose to, and they still sound great. Debbie Harry is ridiculously listenable. Fave tracks - "Hanging on the Telephone", "One Way or Another", "Sunday Girl" and "Heart of Glass" from the overplayed tracks. My overall fave from these listens, though, has to be "I Know But I Don't Know" - great stuff!

This was a 16 year old’s perfect album in 1978. It covered all the bases musically and stylishly for that year. Listening now, only the hits still resonate. Rest of the album feels like a bit like filler. I’d go 4 on this now but will give it a 5 because of the strength of the hits and of course Debbie.

Echt fantastisch, wie zijn one direction?

buen grupo blondie la verdad

10/10. Ah, yet another epic classic. Albums like these tend to be fairly hit-or-miss albums, and this one is a hit. I love the melodies that accompany the songs. The vocals are great. Also, I am quite fond of the structure of the album. It stays consistently good throughout the album, and doesn't fall flat. This is the kind of music that I simply crave every once in a while, and really need to listen to when I do. Oh, and who can forget that the song "Heart of Glass" is on this album? I bloody love that song. I listened to it 46 times in a single day a few months. Everything about that song just feels so perfect!!! It's SO exciting when that song comes up (not this time around; my Mama interrupted me a few seconds after the song began playing). :) Aside from "Heart of Glass", there are other straight-up bops on the album like "Sunday Girl", "Hanging on the Telephone", and "Picture This". Ah, this album is so nice! :)

being into this album comfortably the coolest thing i did as a teenager

Favorite songs: Hanging on the Telephone, 11:59, Heart of Glass

This album is peak Blondie, strong from start to finish. Love the voice and the pop rocky style of the music. So many bangers on one album. Favorite songs were: 1. Hanging on the Telephone 8. Sunday Girl 9. Heart of Glass 10/10

Right away I'm enjoying this more than I expected! I definitely thought Blondie was her name and that she was a solo act. I didn't know she had a band. "Hanging On The Telephone" is a fun song. I'm realizing as I go that my dad used to play these songs. "One Way or Another" is awesome and is unlocking memories of childhood car rides and hanging out in the living room. The vocal performance in this song is iconic. "Pretty Baby" is a very ABBA sounding song. I love it. The synth coming in on "I Know but I Don't Know" was exciting. It's a shame it didn't last that long, the rest of the song was a little stale. "11:59" is my favorite song so far. "Sunday Girl" has another awesome vocal performance. This is a groovy track. "Heart of Glass" hit me like a truck. I've heard it so many times and I've never know what it was. "I'm Gonna Love You" has me wanting to clap along and do some shimmying in my office chair. This album has a lot going for it. Blondie's amazing vocal performance is the highlight, but there's a ton of great guitar parts and fun backup vocals. 9/10

Wow, it was great to hear this again! It has been decades! I remember loving the 50s vibe of this album and thinking it made sense because Debbie Harry was born in 1945 so she grew up with that sound and then made it her own with Blondie. Pure pop with attitude and almost every track is a winner--I've always loved Fade Away and Radiate in particular. Thank you Blondie!

Perfect album.

You could chuck heart of glass into the worst album on this list and it would make it a solid 4*. Fortunately the rest of this is full of bangers too.

Debbie Harry is an under-rated vocalist. Fabulous, joyful power pop, brimming with invention. Clem Burke is on top form, too - dynamic drums throughout. And an all-time classic cover.

This is the kind of album that 2 years ago I would have absolutely hated. I would have thought it was cheesy and annoying, and almost has a bit of a Stock, Aitken, and Waterman type quality to it. But I feel like since then I have really learned to appreciate new wave for what it is, and I can absolutely say that I now love this album.

The Heart of Glass/Sunday Girl single record was my absolute favourite from my mum's collection when I was a kid. It turns out this entire album is killer and I liked every single track. Debbie Harry has amazing range and the whole thing was just fun to listen to. Rating: 5

Excellent album - some really good songs on here, Debbie Harry’s voice, it’s really good.

debbie harry the woman that you are

Debbie girl why do you look so angry 😭

What a great album. Kinda pop, kinda rock, several bangers. Songs that just make you wanna sing along

Solid all the way through. Big hits as well as deep cuts that deserve more appreciation.

What an album. So many hits.

I liked Blondie before this, now I love her

Almost the perfect album imo

“Picture this” is an absolute BOP! My favorite song I haven’t heard before… so far on this adventure. “Heart of glass” is a true classic, a song I can listen to over and over. A lot of really great, timeless songs on this. Blondie is the shit

This is an important album as it brought pop punk to the forefront.

Loved it Definitely great all around. Catchy tunes. T a lot of future artists

This is just a classic, I can tell some references to surf rock, a bit of reference and feel to UK rock, I know blondie from a long time, but I never heard the entire album, till know 10-10

Wonderful, start to finish. Debbie Harry's powerful vocals beautifully complimented by the rest of the band. Will definitely listen to again

Great album. Brought back great memories. She is a icon and broke through so many barriers!

It's ironic that a fair amount of BRITpop was a pale imitation of the contents of this album.

Too many good songs to be anything other than a 5.

5/5 own on vinyl classic album full of great songs. Mum’s favourite Blondie album Hanging on the telephone Heart of Glass

Excellent stuff :)

Have you ever wanted an upbeat song? One Way Or Another is one of my all time favorite songs EVER. I love the lead singer's voice and her very upbeat and rock-ish voice. Also, I love the background music as well, I love all the instruments too. Heart of Glass is also a good one as well, I love the scating in the middle of the song too. I recommend this album for anyone who wants upbeat and rock-ish songs.

I mean…

Even better than I remember. Even the weakest song is a fun juiced up cover of Buddy Holly. Honestly hard to find a fault with this one. Rating: 4.9

Outstanding album. Perhaps a little lull (drop in tempo) in the mid-tracks, but overall an absolute belter

One of my all time favourites! So many amazing singles, a real no skip for me. Even after all this time it still feels current. Listening: freestyling at the skatepark Favourite song: Sunday girl

Love Blondie! And love this album. I would own it on vinyl if I didn't already have Best of Blondie. Favorites are the normies- One Way and Heart of Glass.

I’ve always been a fan of Blondie since I was a kid due to an appearance on The Muppets. You used to be able to rent VHS tapes of Muppets, and after rewatching it numerous times, it has kept One Way or Another in my head for decades. It is such an eternal earworm. The rest of the album is an absolute banger as well with how its able to blend styles like pop, rock, and some of the songs hitting that pop-punk vibe. Just an absolute classic album.

I loved Blondie when they were in their pomp. Bought all their albums and continually played them. They were massive in 1978 partly due to the popularity of Debbie Harry. I managed to get tickets to see them in Manchester which at the time was like trying to get Oasis tickets for their reunion tour in 2025. One of the best gigs I have seen and managed to get a drum stick thrown into the crowd by Clem Burke which I still proudly own. Like a lot of men in their mid 20’s I was perhaps a bit too obsessed with Debbie. I say perhaps because it must have been more than that as my workmates once bought me a Debbie Harry lookalike doll at a Christmas party. Listening today I still like the songs which are all really strong and have stood test of time as they are still massively liked by many people. By today’s standards the sound of the record is a bit thin to my ears. But overall a great record full of happy memories. 5/5 (And a relief there was no ABBA or any other Swedish group today!) 13/9/24

¡Genial! ¡No hay canción que no esté genial!

maybe a 5

What an awesome hour that was.

Fuck it. This album gets a 5. No shame. It’s fun

I’m at a 4.5 that I desperately wish I could leave there, but I’ll go up to a 5. This is a fucking great album; I’ve heard of Blondie, but I didn’t think I had actually ever heard Blondie, and then One Way or Another came on and I fucking did a spittake. Normally, I have a moment like that once every few weeks in this experience; some song that’s weaved its way into the pop culture soundtrack jumpscares me and I go “oh, this is THAT song” and I get all giddy and happy to finally know the source. They fucking did it to me again later in the album with “Heart of Glass” and I just kinda lost it laughing. I do wish this album had ended on Heart of Glass though; I think the last 2 tracks are a little bit more “filler” than closer material; they’re not bad tracks at all, but I would’ve been way more receptive to them if they had been placed earlier in the album. They just don’t structurally fit the album as much to me – there’s a few tracks that do feel out of place in terms of the track order, and that’s sort of why I was wavering between a 4 and 5 as an album experience. However, I think it would be a bit odd to give this only a 4 after I enjoyed it as much as I did; I don’t think this album misses a single beat (literally) from an instrumental or vocal standpoint. From a production standpoint, some of these songs feel right out of the mid-80s instead of the late 70s, so that's fun. Sometimes the lyrics are a little odd, but they’re never outright bad, save for the really deflating “I Know but I Don't Know”. That song feels like it was written by a high school sophomore having to write a poem after procrastinating all day and just spitting that out about 2 hours before the start of class. I say all that, and I think the song has one of the very best instrumentals on the album, so even when the album misses, it still hits. So, yeah, I’m up to a 5. I do think the track order could’ve been tweaked a bit, and maybe even a song or two could’ve been cut out for not fitting as well with the rest of the album, but that’s for other people to decide on a more definitive track order (other than ending on “Heart of Glass” as the last track no matter what). It’s just a really fun album; it’s 40 minutes of hard hitting rock, anchored by a damn strong voice and some great instrumentation. Highly recommended listen, and I’m totally fine with the bump up to a 5. It's definitely no less than a 4.

I’ve heard some tracks of theirs but nothing from this album before. Looking back, I have heard some of these songs, just not knowing who they were by. Seems incredibly familiar. I really liked this. Outstanding. Catchy, fast paced, energetic. Constantly interesting. So many classics. Highlights: One Way Or Another Pretty Baby 11:59 Sunday Girl Heart Of Glass

Loved every bit of it. Then and now.

4.5 rounded up pussyslay!!!!!!!!! highlights: hanging on the telephone, sunday girl, heart of glass (aug 12 2024)

Not their song but hanging on the telephone is an amazing opener, and sets the stage with some pretty impressive energy. Also tight song structure throughout with themes being hinted at then delivered, each song with a clear A B A' or C bits like its classical. Harry's voice is perfectly glassy and cold but not without passion. Five for the woahooWhoa -a - Ohh-oh on hanging.

Much better than I remember.

What a band, what an album! I’m on a perfect album roll. Let’s keep this going!

What a way to start the week, huh? This is one of my favorite albums from the second half of the 70s (yes, I have to separate this decade into two to talk about my favorite albums without forgetting any). I'm not into celebrity culture, but if I was, I'd probably be a crazy Debbie Harry's groupie!

Parallel Lines is at this point my 3rd most listened to album of all-time. That is thanks to the amazing singles but also the perfect blend of styles: from disco and punk to the start of new wave, this album has many wonderful things. I also absolutely adore Debbie Harry and Chris Stein of course. 5 stars, undeniable classic.

Lang zitten twijfelen of dit een 4 of een 5 is. Dus 't is een 4.5. Beste Blondie album, ik denk dat niemand dat kan ontkennen.

I've never listened to a full Blondie album but love the hits. What the hell, this is so good!? Loved every song, pop rock perfection.

I genuinely believe that Parallel lines is one of the most perfect Pop albums ever recorded. Somehow managing to be both cool, detached, and ironic, and sweet, immediate, and sincere it balances it’s brilliant Pop sheen with a hardness drawn from their Punk roots, and doing so creates an album that’s true Pop Art. And if you don’t like it, you can just go away

They got some hits. They’d be fire off the shits

No one born after 1980 can imagine the joy brought to pop music by the punks and the new wave. Blondie were right at the forefront of this with a string of genuinely great singles and four wonderful albums. This was the third of them. It's truly amazing.

A generation-defining classic with an endless amount of songs that stood the test of time. I was surprised by the year, shows how much this band defined the decade to come.

One of the best albums ever released.

Delightful. I just love Blondie and I love this album. Every track brings something slightly different, the instrumentation is always interesting and her vocals are so expressive and it all just comes together to form a brilliant record

oh my, memories

Has classics like One Way or Another and Heart of Glass. Quite a diversity of songs, all very enjoyable.

When you’re in a don’t miss competition and your opponent is Parallel Lines by Blondie 😳 This album slapped. 0 misses start to finish and even some bangers in there. Picture This and 11:59 are two favorites that I hadn’t previously heard. The album was a nice mix of pop/rock/new wave, but it wouldn’t reach the highs that it does without the singer Debbie Harry. She’s got pipes that mix extremely well atop the new wave grooves and guitars and she kills the performance from start to finish. Welcome to the 5 club, Blondie

Wonderful album! I loved every song especially the ones that everyone else likes.

Every song hits, the vocals are strong and varied, and “Heart of Glass” is a classic.

miracle of an album. the most fun i’ve had listening to anything on this list. must have on vinyl soon, a perfectly balanced revolution of 80’s sound. once i had love and it was a gas. soon turned out to be a pain in the ass !!!

What’s your number? A joke bc the people in band would ask that when they pulled up “Call Me” in the stands, a song by Blondie. It’s an inside joke

Really doesn't matter how many Clorox Clean Wipes or Swiffer Wet Jet advertisements "One Way or Another" has soundtracked, nor does it matter that you could go to dinner at 5 different restaurants on 5 different days in most any gentrifying downtown city center and you'd probably hear "Heart of Glass" on the playlist at all 5 of them, these songs are among the most played out of the pop canon, usually out of context and yet somehow they don't suffer! Predominantly kind of punky, poppy, new wave music with the occasional wrinkle, oddity, or fun experimental moment interwoven for texture. These songs just consistently opt to do something weird rather than just go for the expected. "One Way or Another" is a journey of a song, "Fade Away and Radiate" starts as a slow-burning ballad before it explodes with a short, blistering guitar solo, and ends on a faux-reggae fade away. The main riff on "I Know but I Don't Know" sounds more like it could have been written by Rush than any of the new wave bands. "Sunday Girl" is like early 60's rock with a bit of ironic posturing. This was a big time case of thinking I had a conception of what a band was like and thus ignoring them for a long time, I was pleasantly surprised when I finally sat down and listened to this a couple years ago and found my prior conceptions were pretty far from the truth.

New wave perfection.

But seriously I really liked this one. I'd only heard their singles before but actually not a bad song on this and Deborah Harry has a great voice

Outstanding, all of the hits and even the lesser known songs are solid tunes.

One of my favorite artists to listen to on vinyl. This album and their debut are the best.

Sunshine with a sneer.

Really good one, few hits I recognised. Thought it was from 1983 though.

Wow I knew the big hits but didn’t think I would fall in love with this so hard.

Fun album. Catchy. Blurs the lines between punk and new wave.

More Blondie please

Not 1st listen If not the top of all the new wave/pop/punk albums of the late 70's/early 80's, then pretty darn close HL: “Hanging on the Telephone”, “One Way or Another”, “Heart of Glass”, "Picture This", “11:59”, “Will Anything Happen”, pretty much every other song tbh June 21, 2024

What’s a phone booth

Great album...I saw Blondie 45 years ago in 1979 at outdoor venue the Pinecrest in Shelton Ct. Ian Hunter and Mick Ronson were the opening act! Those were the days...

If I had been a teen when this came out, I would have cried myself to sleep every night knowing I would never be with Debbie Harry. This album is SO GOOD.

Um clássico.

I like Blondie! Very nice album. 'One Way Or Another', 'I Know But I Don't Know', 'Sunday Girl', 'Heart Of Glass', 'Once I Had A Love' and 'Get It On' are the masterpieces.

relisten. i love this record!!! it's one of the albums that introduced me to pre-2000s music. it's basically directly responsible for my current music taste.

Love this!

Yep this is a pop rock masterpiece, contains their biggest hits and the albu starts with a bang and doesn’t overstay its welcome.

Good album

Perfect power-pop

Thoughts before listening: 70s NYC punk scenesters who leaned into their pop tendencies to become massive new wave stars and eventual rock n roll hall of fame inductees. I believe this is their first album and generally considered their best. Debbie Harry is one of the coolest rock stars of all time. I'm sure I'll recognize half of this album, but I believe this will be the first time I've ever listened. Review: Okay so it seems this was actually Blondie's third album, but it is their biggest. There are some huge hits on here, but it starts with my favorite song from them which is "Hanging On the Telephone". Great pop song with a punk rock attitude and tempo. This is followed by "One Way or Another" which is one of the band's most enduring hit songs that also retains a punk grit alongside the pop melodies. "Sunday Girl" and "Heart of Glass" both come later in the album to really hammer home that this is truly an all-time classic. I am also enjoying quite a few of the deeper cuts on here like "I Know But I Don't Know", "11:59", and "I'm Gonna Love You Too". This album is just so influential to so much of the music I would come to love, essentially laying the foundation for much of the pop punk and indie rock to come later. 5-stars.

I really enjoyed this album, end to end bangers

Iconic 80's sound -- even the non-hit "deep tracks" are good on this album. And that voice…!

Sumamente recomendable.

ohohohho this is good 5/5

Innovative and energetic. Ground breaking classic of its time.

Great Album

SO fucking good. oozes cool. debbie harry's voice is just unbelievable, and every single song is an absolute bop. the drums on this thing are insane. big big love

Classic

Rating: 9/10 Best songs: Hanging on the telephone, One way or another, Picture this, 11:59, Will anything happen, Heart of glass, I’m gonna love you too, Just go away

"Parallel Lines" is the third studio album by American rock band Blondie. New Wave, pop rock, power pop, disco. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. It was the album that took them to international success, hitting #1 in the UK and #6 in the US. The album was recorded at the Record Plant in NYC under the production of Mike Chapman who was very demanding as he found the band to be unfocused and unstructured. Well, everything turned out just fine, with universal acclaim and, in 2024, it was inducted into National Recording Registry for its artistic significance. And if you don't know, Blondie was/is Deborah Harry (vocalist), Jimmy Destri (keboards), Frank Infante (guitars), Chris Stein (guitar), Nigel Harrison ( bass) and Clem Burke (drums). This album starts out blazing with four great songs. A phone is ringing which leads to the band kicking in on their cover of the Nerves' "Hanging on the Telephone." The keyboards have an 80's sound and the guitar leads the way with a great solo. Debbie's urgent vocals as she gets left hanging on the phone. The guitar shines again on "One Way or Another." Debbie let's loose with a snarl and her vocals are layered. There's not too many songs about stalking but here's one. The band changes gear with the poppy "Picture This." This was actually the first single. Very high production. Debbie's voice is perfect. She's falling for a guy that works in a garage. An organ synth opens "Fade Away and Radiate." Very Kraftwerk-esque. Debbie's little girl voice is sort of creepy and they bring in Robert Fripp to add an ominous guitar. Interesting lyrics as it describes falling asleep in front of a TV. This is a great deep cut. Catchy handclaps and melody highlight "Sunday Girl." More pop with the synths. This sounds very 60's-ish and was their last single. That famous disco beat begins their big one "Heart of Glass." Edgy guitar. Very catchy. Dreamy. Great, great production and perhaps, Debbie's finest vocals. Falling in love and having your heart broken. I like the earlier reggae version too. Details everywhere..I particularly like Burke's drums at the very end of the song. I've always thought of Blondie as a singles band but this album proves they were a great album band; it is a great album from start to finish. Whatever the producer did to motivate them worked in the end result. The band tight and there melody hooks all over the place. The songs go from poppy to more hard rock to disco. Debbie's vocals are flexible and great throughout the album. A clasic album and one to listen to again since this has aged very well.

Loved it. Back to back BANGERS!

Iconic.

Apparently I need to listen to more Blondie...

I really enjoyed this album! I recognize a bunch of the songs too!

Premium class New Wave.

Yessss!!! Loved this. The energy, her voice, everything. I could listen to Blondie all day.

listened to this album for the first time a little over a year ago and didn't particularly care for it. guess i grew a brain since then

I know Blondie's big hits and haven't listened to an entire album. This was totally refreshing! High energy the whole way through and some killer sound layers for almost every single track. Complete and total enjoyment from start to finish. Pretty much a perfect album in my opinion. Favorite tracks: all of them!

Can I swear on here? Because F***, Blondie is so good. Hot take - Hanging on the Telephone is better than Call Me and One Way or Another combined. Also have always loved Fade Away and Radiate. Lots of their hits on this album that remind me of being a die-hard Blondie fan when I was younger. A couple songs I didn't know very well but liked off this album were "Will Anything Happen" and "I Know But I Don't Know"

BLO/NDIE

Terrific opening salvo -- "Hanging on the Telephone", "One Way or Another", and "Picture This". "Heart of Glass" walks the line between rock and disco, and album cuts like "11:59", "Will Anything Happen?", "Sunday Girl", and "Just Go Away" are equally as strong.

Its Blondie...look at that cover...nothing more really needs to be said.

Wow! Great album! I'm familiar with the hits: One Way or Another and Heart of Glass are favorites. Fun to hear the ones I hadn't heard before. Especially liked I Know but I Don't Know and Will Anything Happen.

Blondie is so great. This album is perfection. That is all.

Surprised me 10/10

Perfection.

could i write poetry to this? y

Wonderful album! On the fence between 4 and 5 stars, but Debbie's amazing voice earnes that extra star all by itself.

A great album. Pure fun.

Heart of Glass is still epic!

Pop rock con mucha marcha. Los de one way or another.

I only knew the 2 big hits, One Way Or Another and Heart Of Glass, going into this. On first listen it wasn't quite what I expected, being a lot more diverse than I envisioned. This is a fun pop rock album which just gets better with each listen.

Classic!

Stunning album went it came out and a stunning album now

New Wave classic. Whether they liked it or not, Mike Chapman brought out the best in Debbie Harry and the band.

Absolutely fab loved it ❤️ 😀

This is really a very high 4.5 but I'm rounding up because I've loved this album for ~8 years now. It's not all hits - there are a few songs there that I skip almost every time - but it's hard to beat that opening three song run. The album is stacked with crazy good tracks: Hanging on the Telephone, One Way or Another, Picture This (!!), 11:59, Sunday Girl, Heart of Glass, etc. Debbie Harry's voice in Picture This is worth a few stars alone. We love you Blondie <3

Amo a Blondie

full disclosure, i've been waiting for this album to pop up so i could finally listen all the way through and it was great. this album opens strong with (a great cover of) hanging on the telephone, segues into one way or another, and chugs along from there. it dips and pivots into various genres along the way, like rock, punk, new wave, and power pop to keep things exciting. heart of glass is a solid way to wind things down. this is in my opinion blondie's best work and was worth listening to 2+ times all the way through yesterday. great stuff. favorites: hanging on the telephone, one way or another, picture this, sunday girl, heart of glass, just go away

A wealth of catchy pop hits on here. Absolutely deserves it's place on the list of must listen albums

bangers on top of bangers. fuck yeah debbie harry.

girlboss

High school memories!

Likeeeee y los títulos 😍

How can I not like this absolute GEM of an album? I also have it on vinyl, found in Brick Lane (London) for £3

I don't need to listen to this again to know it's one of the most cohesive, splendidly performed collections of music pressed to vinyl. I did, however, listen to it again, and was blown away by quite how good it is. It is genuinely an exceptional album, and Debbie Harry is a wonderful frontwoman.

Just fun. I've always loved pop rock and this is the perfect example of it. 5/5

Awesome album. No wonder it was their break out album that got them on the charts. Blondie's sound is so often imitated and really set the template for power pop. An amazing mix of punk and new wave. Kind of crazy to have One Way or Another and Heart of Glass on the same album: the first is a rocker and the second is like the best disco song ever. Always have loved Hanging on the Telephone and really dug I Know But I Dont Know. Trailblazing album that still sounds fresh.

great raw punk energy for the time

I listened to this one five times this weekend. Always liked Blondie, but listening to this album has really made me into a fan! Gonna have to listen to a bunch more now!

¡Genial! ¡No hay canción que no esté genial!

This is what every pop rock act should strive to be like. Great songs and Debbie Harry is a thrill to listen to.

So many hits on this album! And the rest of the songs are pretty damn good too

OK Boomer.

Geiles Album

Very good

Classic shit, delicious

Masterpiece, love it from head to toe

A favorite

Love Blondie! I don’t think I had ever listened to this entire album though. The entire album is fun 80’s rock!

Wow I was blown away at how catchy this was! Absolutely influential in it's pop punk style. Every song on this had me nodding along and smiling. What a fun album! This was an album I came in expecting to feel blasé about but was floored at how well it flows and the edgy attitude that still holds up.

All hail Debbie Harry

One of the most iconic album covers of all time. Simply sensational impact at the time- it's everything New Wave was meant to be. I'm kinda biased as I had a big schoolboy crush on Ms Harry and still do. The music has all the pizazz of a brash late 70's New York band that had already been down and out. Boy there are a whole lot of hits on here. Has always been a favourite of mine and always will be.

The sound of the 80s and I worked in a music store then and one of the staff their has the biggest crush on Blondie it was funny to watch him when we played her videos on the screens in the store. Its a good record and lots of tracks that did not become singles that could have been

I've always liked Blondie's big songs, and I guess always thought of them as a singles / greatest hits band. I hadn't realised how many of their best songs come from this single album. It's an absolute goldmine. The sound is punchy, cool, energetic, and Debbie Harry's charisma is pretty irresistible. It's a smash! 5*

Magnificent

What can I say! It‘s a perfect album with a perfect vibe. I absolutely love it.

I like this one

IIIII loveeeee rock n roll!

Makes me feel spunky, a couple classic hits on here but really the whole album is banger 80s rock

Amazing album, not a single bad song in it. Masterpiece classic!

Energetic and fun

Love this album. Blondie has always been a favorite.

Banger album

Absolute classic.

Yes! Iconic

I LOVE BLONDIE

Blondie es toda una rockera. puro hit en ese albúm.

bomnito

Three major hits with staying power. What an album.

I'm very excited about this one! I'm coming into this album only knowing the three big singles, "Hanging on the Telephone", "One Way or Another", and "Heart of Glass". I had the best of Blondie cd in highschool and am excited to get into some new tracks from them. No skips! This album is great all the way through. They do a lot of genre hopping but keep it grounded in a new wave/post punk vibe with Deborah Harry's and the bands pervasive 'tude. Stand outs for me today were "Fade Away and Radiate", "11:59", and "Just Go Away"

女声非常牛逼

I'm not saying I ever will, BUT if some how some way I am convinced/drunk enough to do karaoke, One Way or Another is a top 3 choice for me. This Blondie album is a certified classic of the 70's and 80's cementing their place among the greats of the generation. Absolutely must listen to before you die FUCK YESSS is all I have to say.

My favorite so far.

Incredible selection of half forgotten songs

Obviously the classics are brilliant, but I was struck by how good the "filler" was too - even the covers, remixes and live versions are great! The whole band are impeccable, but the vocals lift this album (and band in general) far above most of their peers. A great album, well worthy of another listen - even if you think you know it inside out!

This is fantastic album that stands the test of time. Apart from all the singles contained on this album which is quite a lot, the outstanding tracks are Fade Away And Radiate and Pretty Baby.

Album 202 of 1001 Blondie - Parallel Lines Rating : 5 / 5 Favorite Track : One Way or Another Giving it the rating just because I was in the right mood for it. May not have rated it that high when it came out, but it has grown for me, over the years. Fun album.

🙌🏼

What I find is pleasing and I'm feeling fine.

this album is another well travelled album for me. i think pretty much every song on this album is at least solid, i don't think there's a bad song of the bunch. it's still as fresh as i imagine it was when it came out. the famous songs are great, and i think the album cuts are also great. just a fun album from front to back.

I danced and sang along to this album as a young boy at my aunt Terri's apartment. I think I was my first real love for any particular type of music. It seemed edgy and rebellious.

FREAKINg loved it. there’s a reason blondie is still popular!

Loved it. Fun with good variety. Disco. Funk. Punk.

un classic!

Oh yeah, ça c’est du bon stock EDIT DU FUTUR: C'EST DU GIGA BON STOCK TU VEUX DIRE

I like Blondie, but I’m not sure I’ve ever listened to this album outside of the major radio singles. I was really missing out! Top to bottom this album is fantastic. Hard to pick favorites because they’re all so good, but I think mine are “Hanging on the Telephone,” “Picture This,” and “I’m Gonna Love You Too.” Will definitely be on heavy rotation for me going forward.

www.Blondegirl - 149 bpm

Only knew the big singles. Most of them are here! Surprised by this album, went in anticipating another middle of the road 3/5 but will probably revisit this.

Favourite tracks: hanging on the telephone; one way or another; picture this; heart of glass; Sunday girl

Classic album. Hearing Blondie on the radio as a kid. Hearing these tunes at the ball field. This brings back good memories.

Amazing album! I guess I've always taken Blondie for granted a bit due to the massive popularity of some of their songs. There's so many great ones on here though, and not a bad song to be seen. More than half of the tracks on here are 5 stars, so it's more than deserving of its classic status.

What a revelation. This is the best pop ever. You can hear new wave, atl, grunge even, on this record. The lyrics, the lyrics, the lyrics. These songs bend and shift genres and provide vivid pictures thru witty sarcastic at times choruses. I have 1 regretful 5star rating on Beyoncé '4'... I was surprised by how much I liked about it and over stepped a clear 3.5. I wont regret however this 5 star edition

Blondie's third album is a real charmer. Their producer made them write proper songs and do a whole 'less is more approach'.

The first album I owned, I was nine and took it to school to be played in our assembly. Debbie Harry was every young boys crush, and every older mans crush. She epitomised coolness before girl power was invented. Look a that album cover, the pout, the body language my word she was a beauty. The album is killer from start to finish, one of the finest pop/rock albums recorded. Listening again today I still love every second of this. Easiest five star review so far.

Many other enjoyable songs

LOVEEE THIS ALBUM!! This was my very first LP😊 it’s rock, feminine and powerful. 5.0 for this Beauty🌞

- Heard this album many times before - Unbelievably good album, basically a Blondie Greatest Hits - Tons of classic songs on this - I'm still annoyed that they didn't do Sunday Girl when I saw them on the Sunday of Glastonbury earlier this year - Fav songs: Heart of Glass, Sunday Girl, Picture This

It’s new wave post punk disco tinged perfection. Debbie Harry please step on me.

Presumable the 5-star albums "Blondie" and "Eat to the Beat" are also included in the list, but "Parallel Lines" is Blondie's most consistent album and one of the best albums ever. Superclassic: 10/10

This is pop perfection: the catchiness, variety and conciseness of the songs, the extraordinary vocals, even the cover. (1978 was an exceptional year, as yet another perfect pop album was released: This year's model by Elvis Costello.)

Wait, ALL those songs are from this album? Incredible. This is classic rock at its very finest. Easy five stars.

I heavily got into 70s music during the first two years of college, and Blondie was often on repeat. Excellent post punk with unique vocals from Debbie Harry. Gotta love the band's look, too. 4.5 stars.

Love it! Songs I knew before, songs I didn't. Nothing I didn't like though, and I want to listen to it again to get even more out of it. BT - One Way or Another - Heart of Glass - Sunday Girl - 11:59 - Fade Away and Radiate - Will Anything Happen

New wave classic, 99% hits

Had this album as a teenager a long time ago. It’s good to hear it from beginning to end again after such a long time of only hearing certain songs. A great album

Undeniably cool. This albums gets better the more I listen to it.

One of the greatest fucking records of all time.

A totally classic album - not a bad track on it. That voice, that image, everything!

This album effortlessly mixes punk, new wave, and pop elements (and disco too!). The vocals are excellent and vary enough to give different personalities to each track. The massive hits (Heart of Glass; One Way or Another) are fantastic but the rest of the album holds up just as well. Standouts: I Know But I Don’t Know; Sunday Girl; Pretty Baby; Heart of Glass. 5/5.

love this album so much

Love catchy pop rock! Wish there was more of it on this list. I already knew Hanging on the Telephone, One Way or Another, and Heart of Glass. The new standouts to me were Sunday Girl, which sounds like a throwback to the 60s, and I'm Gonna Love You Too, which is just silly fun.

Najbolji blondie

I really enjoyed this a lot. High energy throughout and really unique sounds. Debbie Harry’s voice is awesome, impressive range. Songs are bouncy at times, alt heavy at times, just really unique and interesting. One Way or Another is the famous song (and it’s good) but lots of other strong songs too. Favorite song: Heart of Glass Others: One Way or Another, Picture This, Fade Away and Radiate, Pretty Baby, Sunday Girl

Such a great album. I’ve had a couple on here where I just can’t understand how people aren’t giving 5s. I mean maybe it loses a tiny bit of momentum in the middle, but the 5 killer singles must be worth at least a 4? It just a perfect mix of punk/pop/rock/. Love it.

One of the artistic highlights of some of the most original and creative years in music history

Here’s another 5 for me. Each song has bits and pieces that I like, which is pretty rare for me. I also love Debbie Harry’s voice. Favorite songs: “Heart of Glass”, “Fade Away and Radiate”, “Sunday Girl”.

5. Love Blondie

Another "how have I never listened to this?" album. I absolutely loved this and all the variety of songs it had. Debbie Harry's voice is iconic throughout. So much fun!

Oh wow! This album was a blast. I am not surprised, but I am surprised that this is the first time that I have listened to an entire Blondie album (at least to my recollection). Why haven't I bothered to do so, when I assume that I would be a fan??? shrug ???
