JusticeItโs a vibe and if I was hot and sweaty and drunk at a festival or something I would really vibe this. Instead Iโm hot and sweaty and sober at home so I mostly liked it
Itโs a vibe and if I was hot and sweaty and drunk at a festival or something I would really vibe this. Instead Iโm hot and sweaty and sober at home so I mostly liked it
Never has an album made me as angry as this. Just absolute pure shit. Heโs not even doing something interesting. Iโd occasionally get to a song and for a second I thought it was good then I realised it was just not as pure shit as the last song. I now know how El G feels when heโs not listening to dad rock. I have a pure hatred for Ian Dury now and want to exhume him so I can punch him in the face multiple times.
I liked it.
Frontier Psychiatrist was enjoyable. The rest bored me.
Thereโs something really gay about extreme homophobia isnโt there? I liked some songs to an extent. Was enjoying Stan but the ending beat me over the fucking head in the most obnoxious way I ended up hating it. Part of me feels like Eminem thinks his fans are morons and enjoys fucking with them.
Walk on by was great but outstayed its welcome by 2 minutes. Really loved the opening, having 2 odd minutes without vocals was really cool, especially when you have such an incredible and iconic voice as Isaac Hayes. Quite like by the time I get to phoenix, might have to listen to that a few more times to form a full opinion. The rest of the album didnโt do much for me, but Issac Hayes voice is incredible
Arctic Monkey vibes, quite like them
This is an album that definitely requires multiple listens. Really enjoyed the journey and feel thereโs a lot this album has to offer that Iโm not fully appreciating. Great songs, not quite TPAB, but a really enjoyable album.
Itโs Bowie, itโs going to be great. Nothing massively memorable but it was all good non the less
Really liked it, will add it to my rotation
Banger after banger Love everything side One Really love Fill Your Heart, positive vibes please The opening of Andy Warhol annoys me but I like the rest Queen Bitch is great too
It was fine. Nothing too write home about
Thought it sounded very Sex Pistols then found it was John Lydon which makes sense but is disappointing. Everyone wants to be punk but nobody wants to be antiestablishment. Quite liked Religion I even if it was a bit on the nose. Meh
Quite liked it all Wordy Rappington was lots of fun Genius of Love I think I know from Always Sunny? Thatโs pretty great too. Generally liked it all and would like to listen to it more but donโt know if I will.
3rd prince album Iโve listened to and my last favourite. I feel like Iโm missing something with this album, need to maybe look into it a bit and some context will make me appreciate it more.
Really liked it, really weird but in a really interesting way
Really like his stuff, itโs sad but beautiful and raw. Everything means nothing to me really resonated and was lovely. Listened back to Either/Or after this and I definitely prefer that one but donโt dislike this album at all
Quite liked it, felt like Iโd heard similar stuff before though. I knew โฆSometime and Last Nite which I liked. Good music, would happily put on at a party.
Really chill when nice, gave me Joni Mitchell vibes
Never properly listened to Weโve Only Just Begun and my god, what a banger. Some beautiful lyrics there and throughout the album and a beautiful voice. Sounds a bit 70s cliche but Iโm sure it was new and innovative at the time. Gotta respect Bacharach, he really wrote some bangers. Loved the first songs, the rest were good too but not as good as the opening track.
I donโt dislike it but punk donโt massively do it for me. Quite like Police and Thieves but the rest seems to all blur together as fine.
Surprisingly I quite like it. Itโs just the right amount of punk for me. On a rope was cool and the rest mixed it up enough to keep me interested.
Really enjoyed this, it was chill but had energy at the same time. Just fun to listen to.
Just started, not what I expected but liking it so far. I know itโs really acclaimed but trying not to let that influence my opinion. Love that thereโs some Santana on here. It feels like a really great mix of styles and genres but with an R&B thread throughout. Ex-factor was a personal favourite on the album. Feels like the album was really thought out as opposed to just a selection of songs. The gaps in the songs talking about love feels like it grounds the album.
It just didnโt do much for me. Some good songs but it feels so focused on the vocals, which are good, that the rest of the music doesnโt really do much interesting stuff.
Initially wasnโt sure of the opening track as it felt like it took forever to get going and didnโt go anywhere but I think that was intentional and itโs actually a really good lead into the album. I do love funk and CHIC are disco but thereโs some real funk influence in disco and I love it. Listening to the bass more and itโs doing some really fun interesting stuff. Funk rhythm guitar just sounds so good to me.
Good stuff
Generally quite liked it, didnโt feel too samey but stick to its theme
Love the whole album although maybe not my favourite Police album. Had to skip Mother because it just doesnโt feel like it fits in the album. Love the drumming in particular from The Police, itโs syncopated and cool.
Some songs I kinda recognised, it was alright
Absolutely loved this! Dancing in my car to all these things. Could tell it was Brazilian for some reason. Slight Gilberto vibes which is always good.
Just great music, every song was a banger. 10/10
I feel like Iโm missing something with this album, like I like it but itโs not blowing me away. Like Pettys voice. Mystery Man was pretty cool. Really like American Girl, who doesnโt?
Maybe itโs the Buckโs Fizz talking but Iโve really loved this! Phil Spector produced some absolute bangers! Like he wrote the Christmas style I feel. Loved the album and itโs being played every year! Ending on was just a lovely way to the album. Another 10/10
Itโs a no from me dog
There was some stuff they did musically I found interesting but it just gets overwhelmed by the aggression and it all blends into one sound. I did find it interesting though. Like the Brazilian influence at the start of Altered State, wish they used that more and explored it instead of just jumping straight into heavy metal.
Had to listen to it a few times to get my head around it. I really like it even if it is a little off the wall. I think itโs definitely a band/album Iโll revisit
Itโs RHCP, they are what they are. Does anyone else really sounds like them? I guess I like it but itโs a sound Iโve heard so much it didnโt do much for me.
Big fan of Simon & Garfunkel, do like this album but there are some songs I can give a miss. Big Bright Green and A Simple Dulsatory Philippic donโt do anything for me. Itโs not there best album though is it?
There is not a bad song on this album. You can tell itโs the first album of The Beatles changing there sound. Like it still sounds like early Beatles in some ways but itโs also developed and experimented in others
Obviously Iโve heard Elvis but I donโt think Iโve ever really listened to it. Some classics on here that were great. Really liked I Love You Because which Iโve never heard before. A few of the songs I hadnโt heard I really liked to. Itโs a really timeless sound I think.
I found this album really interesting but I wasnโt quite sure. I was feeling pretty anxious when I listened to it which probably didnโt help. Would definitely like to listen again to fully make up my mind.
Really liked this. It was fun and something Iโd definitely put on in the car.
Yes mon!! Absolutely love Train, banging album that flows brilliantly. Just love every track and it feels like a journey. Ending on Psalm just chills me out after vibing throughout the album. Might start running to this
It felt poppy but I could tolerate it. I liked it but didnโt love it
Absolutely hated Sweetest Perfection, there was a dissonance there that just didnโt work at all for me. Personal Jesus and Enjoy the Silence are both bangers but the rest was just a bit meh for me
I felt violated by this album but I kind of liked it. So close to 1 star but the more I listened to it the more I liked it. Only enough to make it to 2 stars though. Iโll probably listen to the album again though. Itโs weird.
Some stuff I liked, nothing I hated. It was well produced but I didnโt love it
Some good songs and I like the kinks but nothing special. Liked Session Man though
This album did nothing for me.
Album flowed really nicely, enjoyed it from start to end!
Dull dull dull dull dull. Nothing for me here of any interest.
I donโt really know, it was fine. Nothing really stood out as really good or really bad.
Really quite liked this, never really listened to Rod Stewart properly. MaggieMay is great. Interesting to hear a different version of Someone like you after hearing the Carpenters version earlier, think I preferred this one. Interesting breaks between main songs, not quite sure what he was going for but I liked it.
It didnโt do a lot for me. I found the music interesting but didnโt care for the vocals and they kinda ruined a few songs for me. It wasnโt bad though, just not great.
Surprisingly liked it a lot more than I thought I would. Started strong but got a bit samey half way through.
Very impressive guitar work from Van Halen but nothing massively jumped out to me. Liked it but didnโt love it.
I wanted to like it more, donโt know if I had a better sound set up Iโd enjoy it but I struggled to hear the music cutting through the noise. No songs stood out to me but I liked how it finished
I dunno, I feel like Iโm missing something with this album
Aretha Franklins great and I enjoy all the songs but as an album it felt something was missing. Would just listen to individual songs as opposed to the whole album
Really flows as an album, all the songs are different but it works soo well. Lovely use of multiple instruments and musical styles just combined together flawlessly. Will listen to more!
Really loved the 15 second intro to the first song. Perfect length. 5 star. The rest of the album was good but not great. Love Stevie Wonder and there are some bangers but it didnโt blow me away.
I just enjoyed the album. It didnโt blow my away but it was fun and made me smile. He was no Johnny Cash but he was good. Mixed up Mess of a Heart was particularly fun.
I liked it more than I thought I would to be fair. Not usually a fan of big band but most of this worked. Really enjoyed the opening piece, the rest interested me less.
Really enjoyed this to be honest. Body Count gave me Beastie Boys vibes in a good way, just hope it didnโt ruin Rock & Roll for El Grande now he wonโt be able to relate to it. Only criticism is Prepared to Die: โ[Mandela] is a hero, he needs a Nobel Prize. But that will never happen, so I'm gonna keep rappin'โ He won one 2 years later which makes Ice T an idiot and a liar who then kept rapping. Generally really good album though!
Enjoyed imagine, although like Chris, out of touch celebs but a downer on it. Jealous guy is cool as is Oh Yoko but beyond that I wasnโt a fan. Obligatory mention that Lennon beat his first wife
It was fine, I like Ray Charles but there was nothing amazing here for me. I wanted to like it more.
I just found it really boring. Sorry. If I grew up on a farm, and was retarded, Stooges might impress me but I didn't, so it doesn't.
The opening track dragged for me so I can only imagine how LG felt about it. Some songs I enjoyed, Drop the Pressure I got half way through and realised I knew. In my arms was alright. I wanted to like Guilty of Love but it just felt a bit self indulgent. Most songs seemed to outstay their welcome. Need you tonight was cool.
I didnโt hate it but it didnโt do anything to blow me away. It felt like an album with an idea and theme but it may have gone over my head. Liked back in the day but I just didnโt feel inspired by the album.
Just an incredible album. The progression from Sun King to The End just blows me away each time. I love every song individually and as an album it just works so well. I want you(Sheโs so Heavy) drags a bit but I can forgive that as itโs the last song on the A Side so it feels more acceptable? Just an incredible album.
I liked some of the tracks but it didnโt do anything amazing in my opinion. I really like the gorillaz but I donโt love them. The album lost me until Latin Simone got me back on it. Probably wonโt listen again. The more I listen to Clint Eastwood the more I like it. No Wonder itโs one of their hits
Man this was a difficult one. There were moments I found interesting and enjoyed but they were just too few and far between. Way too long an album that just rambled on a bit. It just didnโt feel polished at all.
Man I was not in the place to listen to a load of romantic songs. Despite that I did enjoy myself with it. And I love her is just gorgeous. Even when The Beatles were doing generic ish pop they were still great and knocking it out the park.
This was just really chill and nice to listen to. Just made me feel very zen and feel the album. Really enjoyed Human
This just made me angry. Some of it was alright but most of it was shit and just weird and yeah I'm not going to think about this album ever again.
Kicking off with Metal Guru straight away is a bold way to start an album and I liked it! Just a fun T. Rex album, I listened to them loads years ago and revisiting is really fun. Should listen to them more really.
Some bangers but it didnโt do a lot for me.
Listened to this album with a glass of wine while stargazing. It was alright, it felt like a good combo but the album didnโt do much for me which is a shame. It was a well done album but wasnโt anything special for me
Iโve given this a few listens and each time I love it more and more. Just a joy to listen to
Iโve heard a little LCD Soundsystem and enjoyed it so this was nice. Itโs a really good album and I canโt really Place why but thatโs not an issue. Hearing the last track on the album without Miles Davies is really weird and feels a little empty but that works for the sentiment of the song. Close to a 5 but not quite
It came in, it did its thing, it left. Just great stuff, love a walking bass line, not quite 5 star but nothing to complain about
Would have been a 4 but it just dragged as an album
If Iโm going to listen to a live album I want it to feel different to the album version which this album doesnโt really do. I think thatโs an old school metal thing though. Despite that I mostly enjoyed it. Although Jailbait is a weird song and I did not enjoy that, far too close to the truth with rock bands.
Some stuff I really liked but there was enough stuff that felt like filler that put me off a bit. Would definitely listen to some of the songs again but not the album.
Really glad this exists, itโs interesting and fun and a cool combination of genres I never would have thought of. That being said I didnโt massively love it but I did enjoy it
Really liked this, nice mix of genres with a hip hop base. Could probably benefit from a few more listens from me but it did what it did really well
Love this album. Not a bad track and a lovely journey to go on! Rock N Roll Suicide is such a strong ending. One of those albums I never get tired of.
It was a nice listen but didnโt blow me away. I wouldnโt mind if someone else put it on but wouldnโt chose to myself
I generally really quite liked this. Particularly liked We Are the Music Makers. Not incredible but really well done and a fun listen. May listen again when I need to hyper focus on something.
I listened to this when I was really tired and feeling kinda down. Nice and cathartic, got all the negative vibes out. Great songwriter, less great singer but that honestly doesnโt bother me all too much.
Highway to Hell was a great opener. Night Prowler at the end I enjoyed but enriching else was pretty forgettable. Itโs not bad, itโs just not for me
This just ainโt it for me. Welcome to the jungle is great opening. Sweet Child O Mine is pretty great but the rest I could take or leave, even Paradise City didnโt do much for me when I was listening critically
Really loved this. Opening track really sucked me in. Blue Moon Revisited was beautiful too. The album feels raw and unpolished in a good way. And it feels like they all really enjoy playing together. Didnโt really go anywhere but I liked it
Band On The Run is like Bohemian Rhapsody but better. Love every track on this album and it just flows from song to song. Canโt pick anything out in particular as itโs all just top quality
It dragged a fair bit but I actually kinda liked it. Did a lot of interesting things and every song felt like a journey to me. Would listen again, just donโt know under what set of circumstances
First track dragged but it felt like an intro to the music so maybe I can forgive it. Recognised Part IV for some reason. It grew on me as the album went on in all honesty. The Album Artwork is great too
I really liked this, got some Iron and Wine Vibes as well as Vince Guaraldi. Maybe a little long but loved the journey. Would love to listen again but would need to find the time with a glass of wine
Really enjoyed this album, it was just fun and nice. Highlights for me: A Rose for Emily, This Will be Our Year, and Time of The Season.
Iโve listened to Jess music from Peep Show. Iโve listened to this. I canโt tell the difference. I did like it though, I did a park run in the rain to it and it got me through most of it. I know it was groundbreaking but itโs not for me.
Some good songs but it didnโt do much for me as an album. Itโs Bowie so itโs still good but not great
Came in with high hopes after loving Q Tips Renaissance. Havenโt really heard much of this sort of music in the past for whatever reason but have heard of the band. I knew Can I Kick It and really liked it. I never used to be a fan of sampling but Iโve learned to really appreciate it and this album has some great funky samples. I think a lot of it will benefit from a few relistens but I really enjoyed it. Not as much as The Renaissance but that grew from a 4* to a 5* so maybe his will too
I liked Promised You a Miracle but it some how managed to be repetitive despite being fairly short. The rest of the album was Simply Forgettable
Maybe I need nostalgia but this didnโt do a lot for me. Liked some of the songs but Iโve already forgotten what it sounded like.
I actually quite liked it, I listened to it a few times and enjoyed the sound. Some interesting influences all mixed together. Would listen to more of these guys
To paraphrase El Grande, itโs not even his best live album. That being said I enjoyed it, I really like Johnny Cash and think his live recordings let him shine as a performer. Definitely an album I could have on rotation
Donโt know why I liked this so much but it was really enjoyable for me. Never heard any NiN but Iโm vibing it
I liked it. Not a fan of the amount of covers but a solid album.
Iโve heard a load of songs of this album but havenโt really listened to it as an album. Iโve heard Knights of Cydonia loads but this is the first time really listening to it. Loved the surfer rock combined with western style and all sorts of other things together. Will listen to as an album again
I wanted to like it so much more than I did. Iโd heard of this album so was excited for it to come up but it didnโt really do all that much for me. It wasnโt bad just felt very samey
Came into this album sceptical and I bloody loved it! The sample of Genie in a Bottle in Thank You threw me but I really liked it! The whole of Disc 2 in itself is a masterpiece and a joyous listen. The opening 2 tracks were mint, candyman was great in a different way. Nasty Naughty Boy turned me on a little. And the rest of the disc was just mint. Listened to this album twice because it was that good.
I liked Oedipus Schmoedipus somewhat but this was just dull. It takes a lot to make a film score interesting in itself (shout out Miles Davis) and this was a non existent one so Adamson had no excuse but it just wasnโt there for me. Iโm sure there are people who have got Barry Adamson and Bryan Adams mixed up, and the thought of people listening to this and expecting something like Summer of โ69 is somewhat amusing. I just wish I could say the same about this album.
The electric organ is terrible and I hate it with a passion. Everything else on the album I quite enjoyed, but the organ just cuts through and ruins it. The bonus track is a standard I love and I enjoyed that but I donโt know if I should count it?
I came in thinking this would be absolutely awful but it wasnโt. Donโt get me wrong, it wasnโt good but it wasnโt the worst thing Iโve ever heard. Some interesting use of found objects. But yeah, wonโt listen again, if Iโd never had heard it my life would go on just fine. Honestly was expecting it to be more interesting. I can live with bad if itโs interest but it was just bad and boring
I feel like Iโm missing something here but this album didnโt do much for me. Liked the song with Q Tip and the songs following it were alright but the album was mostly forgettable for me. Probably would benefit from a few more listens which may happen tbf
Didnโt like it as much as there other album but it was good. Happy to hear it but thereโs other music Iโd rather listen to most of the time
Sat in the theatre at work in the dark with this playing. Was great to hear soo much of the album that I would have missed otherwise. Some really interesting stuff happening, really enjoyed the vibe of most of it but has a few moments I got bored. Opened amazingly, the ambience got me right in it and loved the first song The Wizard lost me, really didnโt enjoy that Behind the Wall of Sleep I really enjoyed, the slight delay with the vocals between L+R was such a cool effect that enhanced the song NIB & Evil Woman were great Really liked Sleeping Village Warning didnโt justify its runtime for me but it wasnโt bad, I just felt it didnโt go anywhere.
Dudes trying way too hard. Wind your neck in
I really wanted to like this more. Maybe if it caught me on a different day it would be a higher rating but it just didnโt grab me as much as I hoped.
I don't know man, it wasn't bad but I just didn't really enjoy it anything special. It wasn't bad but it just felt a but bland. Kinda liked Jesus, Etc. but the rest passed me by.
I tried listening to this when it first came up. I found out my niece had passed away whilst listening to Vincent so that song and this album are difficult listens for me. I like American Pie even if I have no idea what heโs chatting about. Obviously Buddy Holly died but how does all the other stuff heโs talking about relate together? I still like it though. Vincent and Crossroads are sad listens but good. I like Everybody Loves Me, Baby. Babylon is a weird listen. I like it a lot but I have to listen to the Boney M version afterwards to resolve it almost. I like the album but itโs a weird one for me.
Love Cash and loved all this. Every song was great, Hurt is amazing! Iโve heard Cash do Give My Love to Rose loads but hearing this version hit differently. Had a cry during Bridge over Troubled Water All good shit
Herbie slaps man. I've listened to some of his stuff but never really given him a fair listen. I've heard Mongo Santamaria's cover of Watermelon Man before and really enjoyed it this time round too. Sly really hit some jazzy notes for me that I was vibing. Vein Melter was alright, I liked the ending but the rest didn't hit for me. I love funk, I love jazz, why have I never listened to Herbie really before now??
All the other Radiohead Iโve heard I really liked but this didnโt do a lot for me. I knew Jigsaw Falling into Place because Brad Mehldau has done a mint cover of it which I preferred.
Iโm sure this is for someone but itโs not for me
Itโs a really good album but I donโt think Iโll ever listen to it again. Itโs just not for me but I can tell itโs good. Is that weird?
An ex of mine really liked this album, she was not a nice person. That being said I really enjoyed this. This whole album was just a mood and I was here for it. Definitely one to listen to in the dark with a good bit of bottom end - definitely need to stop listening to these albums in the car, my car speakers have no bottom end and I lose so much of the tracks. No idea why this album was so enjoyable but it was. Every track felt individual enough but they all followed a theme. That's what I want from my albums. Lasers on Insight was cool, I liked that. Definitely get a spacy vibe from this album. Opening of Shadowplay gave me I Wanna Be Adored vibes which I'm always happy with.
My kind of music. Listened to it while drinking champagne with my new flatmate which was a vibe. Just going to be a positive album for me I reckon. Possibly even a 5* after a few more listens
I really liked this and I feel thereโs a lot Iโm missing from just giving it one listen. Will try and give it a few more goes at some point but for now I like it
Man just a really good album. Love her voice and musical style. Loved the Thom Yorke track, just loved it all round. Thanks for introducing me to PJ Harvey
I honestly really enjoy this. Cult of Personality is a banger of an opening track. Open Letter (To a Landlord) is cool as well. It's all great stuff and I'd love more of it.
Jeffs a bit of a whiny boy but Iโm here for it 100% all the time. One of my favourite, if not my favourite album. Classic post break up Elliot music this. Best version of Hallelujah. Lyrically just sad and beautiful, real cathartic gut punch of an album. Lover You Should've Come Over is a favourite of mine, paints a beautiful picture lyrically and I'm a fan of a unique time signature (6/8) I know Forget Her is a bonus track so I don't know if I should count it but I love it so much. Been on many drunk night walks listening to this album and feeling sorry for myself, 10/10 would recommend.
If Synergy is The interaction of two or more agents or forces so that their combined effect is greater than the sum of their individual effects Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young is the antonym of that. Individually theyโre great but when they come together theyโre just good. Our House being the exception. It wasnโt bad by any means but you just expect so much more when 4 powerhouses come together like this. It just made me want to listen to some of Neil Youngs solo work.
Really like this style of music, but if I fancied it Iโd just listen to the O Brother, Where Art Though? soundtrack
Post punk I didnโt hate. Thatโs pretty impressive in my books
I knew Strawberry Letter 23 and liked it. The rest is the album was my kind of music and good but not great. Honestly a little disappointed as I was expecting a lot more
Expected some good songs. Got very little.
Classic Lynyrd Skynyrd. Canโt complain every song was bloody great but not quite there for me. I canโt hear Freebird without thinking about that scene in Kingsman
This album just did it for me! Vibing it in the summer and just feeling great! Mr Follow Follow felt a touch too long but I really loved the whole album. Can see myself putting this on while BBQing surrounded by great company, great food and great beer.
I didn't hate it, didn't love it. Some songs I could vibe too, others less so. Would be great to see live I imagine
I love you Miles, youโre a real mother fucker but I just donโt get this man. I love In a Silent Way but this is too much. Iโm sorry.
Listened a few times. Really enjoyed all of it but wasnโt blown away.
Talking heads are a band that I feel I should really like but they just donโt click for me for some reason
It was fun, didnโt massively blow me away though
Iโm sure Iโm missing something with this album, love Bill Evans but the Vanguard album just misses the mark for me. Love Alice in Wonderland and Gloriaโs Step but the rest didnโt hit me like other Bill Evans albums have
The first song reminded me of That One Night by The Hunted. Layla is like the opposite of Synergy. Itโs 2 songs that when put together are worse than the sum of their parts. The rest of the album was fine.
It was fine, didnโt offer anything amazing for me. Wonโt listen again but if it was playing I wouldnโt turn it off
This album started off strong but didnโt do much beyond its initial impression. It took me on a journey, sure, but it was in 3rd gear the whole way. I wanted to like it but it was just too dull. Itโs well done which is what saved it from a 2
Listened to this a few times now. Really enjoyed it, Dave Grohl is very good at what he does. Didnโt blow my mind but will happily keep listening to this
OK is probably the right name for the album. I get what he was doing and it's interesting to blend traditional Indian music with D&B but I just didn't massively enjoy it. I'm glad it exists but it's not for me.
Listened through it a few times. Really liked it, feel Iโll listen to it more and like it more and more. Could be a 5 given time.
The less I paid attention the more I enjoyed it
Good shit. This album got me into jazz. Love a funky time signature.
I drove a few friends to Birmingham last night. I then managed to lock my keys in the car. I ended up having to get a lift from a friend who was there back to my flat to pick up my spare key, then get a lift back to Birmingham and then I drove back. This all led to me driving back from Birmingham to Shrewsbury between 4:30 and 5:30 listening to this album. Iโve got to say it was the perfect conditions, it was dark, the roads were clear, I was a bit delirious. When the drums came in in In a Silent Way it just got me going. If you can find a less stressful way to enjoy this album Iโd recommend it but I had a fun adventure
Marvin, I listen to your music when I want to bump uglies. You complaining about alimony in song form is a real buzz kill. It was an interesting album and Iโm glad it exists, but it didnโt hit me.
Close to perfect
I thought I was going to enjoy this but not as much as I actually did. Generally just really good and really fun. Every song was different enough while sticking to a vibe which is what I want in an album.
I just love this album. America might just be the best song ever written. I never know how I feel about Voices of Old People. This whole album just feels like a vibe Iโm here for. Just a bit emotional and cathartic. Would recommend
Just kept listening to this and enjoying it. Picked up more interesting thing on each re listen. Itโs close but itโs a 5 from me dawg.
Oh man this list is firing on all cylinders at the moment. That Lady is a banger, I first heard it sampled on Kendrick Lamarโs i and Iโve been hooked ever since. Some of the sexiest guitar Iโve ever heard. Summer Breeze opening gives me a chubby. Vocals are just smooth. Will stick on a load more.
I like it, I donโt love it
Grime isnโt really my thing. That being said I didnโt hate it. Kinda liked the last track
I just love a bit of Latin music. Wish my Spanish was better to understand it lyrically but Iโll get there
Really enjoyed it. Would have loved to have seen him live, proper performer and show mon
I wanted to like it but it just bores me and passed me by
I'm glad that I've finally listened to all The Stooges albums on this list, I hope Iggy's solo work is less shit but I'm not holding out much hope. I'm sure The Stooges were impressive and revolutionary at the time but in 2024 they just don't hold up.
It was fine music, I know itโs influenced a load of artists but if I never hear it again my life wonโt feel like itโs missing anything
Some bits I actually quite liked, I went in thinking I'd enjoy it but it never went anywhere positive for me.
Started off absolutely hating this album, but it got better throughout the listen. Still not great but I didnโt hate it as much as at the beginning
I worked with a musician recently who was the biggest asshole Iโve ever worked with. Just an unbearable prick. Heโd been compared to Van Morrison which I thought was fitting. That being said I liked his music and I liked this album a lot.
Itโs Post Punk mixed with Alt Rock. So they took the only good part of post punk, which is the antiestablishment stance and mixed it with actual descent music.
Thereโs some really interesting story telling here, something I havenโt really heard before but I kind of liked it. I nice dive into Americana
Good stuff
I really enjoyed the other Hendrix album, this one just didn't do a lot for me.
Female led punk is pretty good. Great mixing of genres and styles, I like these guys. Listened up to Delicate Cutters as thatโs where the original release ended.
I like Peter Gabriel, I like this album. Would listen to again.
I liked it a lot. I always wish with jazz vocalists that the rest of the band get a chance to shine though.
Just some dumb rich kid cosplaying as a redneck pimp.
I wanted to like it more. It was good but not amazing, maybe itโs just not aged well for me
I just donโt like punk, it feels like itโs satirising something and I just canโt take it seriously
Does an orchestra make Heavy Metal better? Yes. Does Heavy Metal make an orchestra better? Iโm going with no. For too repetitive, I accidentally listened to most of the first half of the album twice and didnโt notice until the geezer said he would return. Some good songs but far too much between them that all sounded the same.
Just enjoyable stuff
Short, sweet, and just good music. One of Kenzieโs favourite, in fact sheโs got it on Vinyl
Youโre just a bit mid Elvis, sorry.
I barely understood a word this guy said but I enjoyed it all so much. Good beats and vibes. I wish I could speak French but was very happy to let this funky music do the talking, talking, yeah.
I just didnโt enjoy this at all. That being said it wasnโt bad
I liked it in an edgy teenager way. Beyond that I wasnโt so sure.
Iโm sure itโs not what these guys were going for but there was some funny shit on this album. Emptiness is loneliness And loneliness is cleanliness And cleanliness is godliness And God is empty just like me Mary had a little lamb Her face was white as snow And everywhere that Mary went I was sure to go Now Mary's got a problem, and Mary's not a stupid girl Mary's got some deep shit, and Mary does not forget It didnโt save the album but it at least got me smiling politely
Surprised how much I liked this. Good stuff
This album feels experimental in the same way as every album was experimental in this time. It feels influential but not really good
It wasnโt terrible. It certainly wasnโt good though
I liked this, no idea what to expect but it's good. It feels like what OK by Talvin Singh could have been if it was good.
Steely Dan are always a solid shout for me. Itโs not there best album though plus it doesnโt have Kid Charlemagne which is an absolute banger. That being said would happily listen again, Steely Dan are my sort of vibe
Something 4 the Weekend was really good, the rest just kind of passed me by as songs
Really enjoyed the beginning and end of the album. The middle dipped a bit for me though. Almost a 4 but not quite
Iโve tried listening to this a few times and just got bored. That said itโs not bad it just didnโt grab me
Some interesting stuff in To Live is to Die but the rest was kind of mid
The kind of music I donโt really like but done well enough that I enjoyed it and found it interesting. Maybe a 3 is harsh but Iโm a bit of a bastard
Came in with really high hopes. Liked it to start with, really enjoyed Heroin but it trailed off at the end. Close but no cigar
Good shit
Enjoyed the first two songs. The rest was inoffensive and dull which is the worst thing and album can be for me. Beautiful Day saved this from a 1.
It did nothing for me but I didnโt hate it. Iโll never actively listen to it again but if a song came on Iโd listen to it just fine.
I just bloody love this album. Jarrett gets some incredible sounds out of a poor instrument and the way he adapted his playing style to get the most out of the piano is so interesting and honestly incredible. It's the best-selling solo jazz album and the best-selling piano album for a reason, it just blows me away every time I listen to it.
Didnโt think Iโd like it as much as I did but Alanis nailed it with this album!
Itโs crazy that this album was only 30 minutes because it dragged and felt a lot longer. It did nothing for me but Iโm just not a punk guy. I like their ethos, but not their music.
I quite enjoyed it but it felt a bit disjointed. She's Out of My Life seems really shoehorned in there and really threw the album off. The rest of the album I enjoyed but don't know if I'd listen again. Honestly what was She's Out of My Life doing on this album?? It just didn't fit at all and made the album so much worse.
Itโs just good shit. I was toying with a 4 but I think itโs good enough to get a 5, but only just for me. Cover Me gave me a chuckle.
I really liked this. Loved it in Billy Elliot. Lifeโs a Gas was a perfect penultimate song and Rip Off brought it all together. Get it On was almost too good everything after felt lesser but I still loved it all. If The Boss got 5 then this masterpiece deserves 5 too
Good stuff. Dragged a tiny bit at times but still felt like all bangers no filler
This is why I started doing this! I would have never thought to listen to M.I.A. if it wasnโt for this list and Iโm absolutely vibing it. Such a different sound for me and Iโm loving it. I knew Paper Planes and I think Boyz too but itโs all such a good sound and beat.
I didnโt like this. Then I did. I donโt know, it was alright I suppose but it just didnโt appeal to me even if there are a few great tracks on here.
I tried but this was just a dredge to get through. I didnโt completely hate it but I wasnโt far away
This wasnโt for me really, some interesting stuff but most of it passed me by. I liked the way they talked about the police, I was less keen with how they talked about women. That being said I liked the sound of I Ainโt the 1 and the lyrics were clever and flowed well but it just left me with an icky feeling.
Relly enjoyed this. I read to approach it as 2 different albums released at the same time so that's what I tried to do and while both halfs were great by themselves they also worked well together. Was a bit daunted by the length (that's what she said) but it wasn't bad at all
I really enjoyed this as a first impression. It feels like an album that the more I listen to it the more Iโll appreciate it. Loved the beat of Take Me With You When You Go, gave me Take Five vibes which I feel was intentional
I spent this whole album being unsure how I felt about it. I could definitely tell it wasn't bad but it just felt a bit clichรฉ at times like there was something just slightly off about it that I couldn't put my finger on. I do really like Sultans of Swing though, that song is great. The rest was fine for background noise but it left me feeling kind of empty.
Smooth Operator is a really enjoyable song but also completely forgettable. Same with the rest of this album. It just didnโt feel really special or interesting.
Just some really enjoyable stuff. Great vibe with a cool drink in the sun.
This did absolutely nothing for me
Some bangers but not enough between them.
Banger of an Album.
2 good songs surrounded by okay songs
Itโs punk rock but itโs not totally terrible. A few bits annoyed me but there where a few bits I found interesting.
Really enjoyed this. Slightly too long but there's some really interesting stuff on this, if he'd cut out a few songs it would have been perfect for me.
I started off liking it than I got a bit bored but I didnโt hate it. Would listen again.
I state off finding it interesting but it didnโt go anywhere for me which is a shame
I just love the motherfucker. Miles, Cannonball, Trane, and Bill Evans are some of my favourite jazz musicians and they come together so perfectly here. Just perfect.
Really enjoyed this. Was toying with a 5 but the last track killed it for me. Not The Beach Boys at there best but damn close.
Good album. Always loved Al Green.
Taylor Swift is my Lโil Sebastian. Blank Space, Shake it Off, I Wish You Would and Bad Blood are all good enough songs. I donโt mind a wingy album or a relationship/love album but when you mix them both together I get tired and just start thinking, โHey, youโre the common denominator here, maybe explore that?โ And the album never does. On a funny note, in Clean Taylor sings about a โWine-stained dressโ. I heard โWinestein-ed dressโ which would have made for an interesting song.
What a lovely departure from 1989. Beautiful lyricism thatโs both complex and simple. Just a joy. With a few more listens it may be a perfect 5 but for now
Lots of enjoyable stuff but too varied to thoroughly enjoy for me. Also it all felt a bit basic for the genres and styles it was doing
Great album, banging tracks. Just a joy whenever I listen to it
I like Bowie but this just didnโt do a lot for me. Iโm sure Iโm missing something but I just wasnโt massively impressed
Liked this a lot more than I thought I would. If I ever go through a breakup again Iโll have to add this to the circulation.
Just really enjoyable and something a bit different
Just kind of middle of the road. Not bad but forgettable
I just really enjoyed this, gave me similar vibes to George Michael whoโs a babe
Short and sweet songs and album. Aggressive without being aggressive which I quite like. Never purposely listened to The Ramones but Iโve heard a load of their songs by living in the world. The 50/60s pop influence works really well for me.
This just didn't leave much of an impression on me. That being said I really liked Pale Blue Eyes, pure banger.
I liked it. 3.5
Just weird enough for me. Loved the ee cummings poem. Some bits felt too off the wall for me but I just enjoyed the journey.
Frontier Psychiatrist was enjoyable. The rest bored me.
The specials are like a bit shit, but in a good way? Like theyโre just having a good time and vibing it. If I thought for one moment they took themselves seriously this would be a 1 star album.
I got more into it as the album went on. Varied enough that it kept me interested.
Van Halen is talented but it feels like heโs constantly at 10 the entire time and the lack of dynamic changes makes me feel itโs unearned almost? Really loved Ice Cream Man, but for 5 seconds of guitar solo at 1:47 it would have been a perfect song
I like Radiohead. This sounds like classic Radiohead but thereโs nothing that felt like exceptional Radiohead
I only knew The Zutons as the guys who originally did Valerie. This is just a great sound Iโd listen to again and again. Just perfect at what itโs doing
Like the album, didnโt love it but then I heard the final track, Donimo and if the rest of the album had been on the level of that song I would have loved it. Instead it was just fine
I just love this album. Give me this album, a sunny day and a cocktail or two and Iโm happy.
I found it interesting enough, the cover of America wasn't bad but it didn't hold a candle to the original. Didn't hate it, didn't love it, less Yes and more Meh
Some ups, some downs, but mostly in the middle
That 31 minutes dragged. Elvis seemed to have done like 5 good songs and then recycled them for his whole career.
Really enjoyed this. With a few more listens it may become a 5 but itโs not quite there
Itโs a vibe and if I was hot and sweaty and drunk at a festival or something I would really vibe this. Instead Iโm hot and sweaty and sober at home so I mostly liked it
A bit too dad rock for me usually but I enjoyed some of this. It felt like a live album which is what i need from a live album. Really enjoyed Child in Time. Iโve never heard a good drum solo apart from Buddy Rich and the drum solo in The Mule was no exception, unimpressive, self indulgent and looooong. There was one bit of Space Truckin I liked but the other 18 1/2 minutes of that song, as well as everything else after The Mule was self indulgent and boring which sucks because the first 3 tracks peaked my interest.
People listen to Coldplay and voted for the nazis, you canโt trust people. Didnโt hate it, well produced but it didnโt exactly grab me. Just a little beige.
I can see why people would like this but it did very little for me. Just a bit middle of the road although it's well produced.
I didn't hate this as much as I thought I would. Although Fucking in Heaven was Fucking shit. The Rockafeller Skank gave me FIFA 99 Flashbacks which was fun even if the song annoyed me. Praise You is great.
Bat Out of Hell is an incredible opening to an album. The Intro to You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth was cringe as anything but the song itself was alright I didn't mind Heaven Can Wait or All Revved Up with No Place to Go but they didn't grab me. I don't actually think I've ever heard Two Out of Three Ain't Bad before listening to this album which is incredible because I reference it rather a lot. I really liked it, a little cheesy but I'll allow it. Paradise By the Dashboard Lights was mostly great, the woman's lyrics in the Let Me Sleep On It section felt a bit ham-fisted but I guess the juxtaposition and the fact it took me out of it kind of worked maybe? Don't know if that's what they were going for though. Weak ending. When that orchestra kicked in in For Crying Out Loud I digged it a lot. Wagnerian rock is a perfect description of this album, I'll give Steinman that, although I doubt Wagner would have been a fan of Steinman with a surname like that. Its a 3 but a high one
I liked the first 3 songs, then the next 3 werenโt great, then everything after that was middle of the road apart from Mollyโs Chambers which I quite liked.
I really liked this album, wasn't expecting to as much as I did but that's what this journey is all about. Nightswimming hit differently listening to it this time.
Actually liked the opening track. Hated the rest.
The whole album sucked apart from the last song which was an absolute joy to listen to.
Surprised how much I liked this. Started really strong and petered out a bit but enjoyable!
This did nothing for me at all. Extremely forgettable which is in stark contrast to the REM album I had a couple of days ago.
I started off really liking this, there was a lot more musicality than I thought there was going to be and it felt like all the samples were elevated and used thoughtfully instead of just being a reference to that song you know. That being said it did drag a bit and lost me in the middle. Some bits I really loved but maybe it was just a little long. I liked it a lot more than I thought I would but I didnโt love it.
I was expecting a lot more and it just didnโt go there for me.
Meh. Even Guitar Hero 3 nostalgia couldnโt save this album.
Just not for me
I, like Cady Haron, love Ladysmith Black Mambazo. I listened to this in optimal conditions, a pleasant sunny summers evening. Even then it didnโt hit the heights I was hoping for. I still loved it though, the walking baseline in How Long? Was cool and I liked Rain, Rain, Beautiful Rain.
I used to think Punk was pretty bad, then I heard Post Punk. Spoilt Victorian Children was weird.
I didnโt hate it. Some good tracks but didnโt blow me away. Wasnโt a fan of Bullet The Blue Sky.
This was just really good. I love how many female artists Iโve discovered doing this who are bloody brilliant.
I expected to hate this. Instead it kinda just passed me by. Long but fine.
When this came out I thought I was too cool for mainstream music so didnโt listen to much of Arctic Monkeys but every song of thereโs I heard was a banger so I donโt really know what I was thinking. This album is phenomenal though. Proper hypes me up, want to get drunk and rowdy with this as the soundtrack.
All Hope is Gone Indeed.
Well produced, some interesting stuff, but it wasnโt for me.
What a weird album. But itโs weirder how much I liked it.
It was alright, didnโt hate anything or love anything massively. Wouldnโt turn off but wouldnโt choose to put on. It gave me Faces vibes
Really enjoyed Strange Feeling, the All Blues riff was cool and yeah. Gypsy Woman was too long but I didnโt hate it despite that which is odd. Different enough to be interesting, didnโt love it as much as Jeff but I was impressed.
I liked Shine a Light, the rest kind of bored me
Listened through this a few times and it was good shit mon. I'd heard a few of the tracks before obviously but all the other ones were equally as good. Just an all-round blast of an album. Perfect length too. The Title track was a banger.
I donโt know what these guys believe and honestly I donโt think they do either. Theyโre just provocative which I guess is a choice. Quite liked it, Geburt Einer Nation is better than One Vision, fight me. I guess I kinda like Industrial? Itโs provocative, it gets the people going.
I feel like Iโm supposed to like Nick Cave but I just donโt. Dudes trying too hard.
Not a bad song on the album. I liked My Doorbell, Little Ghost, Take, Take, Take and Iโm lonely (But I ainโt that lonely yet). Take, Take, Take seemed like a fun commentary on parasocial interactions. Iโm lonely was just a fantastic way to end the album. It really built and hit hard, even teared up a bit.
Definitely feel this album had a lot more going on than I got in one listen but I still really loved it. It feels like one of those albums that if I listened to more would be a 5 star but for now itโs a high 4.
Something completely different to most other things on this list. Super enjoyable to listen to while eating my breakfast and staring out the window at the world going by
This is the third REM album Iโve listened to on this list. First one (Automatic For The People) thought was brilliant, the second (Murmur) did nothing for me and was very forgettable. This is more a murmur album. I do quite like The zone I love though.
Alone Again Or is an incredible song and I love it so much. The rest of the album was fine.
I just didnโt get much out of this at all. It wasnโt bad I just didnโt get what I was supposed to enjoy about it.
Hopelessly Hoping is slowly becoming a favourite song of mine, beautiful harmonies and a beautiful song. Apart from that the album was solid but it didn't grab me.
Exceptionally mid. Chris hit the nail on the head saying it was too boring to be worthy of a 1.
I just didnโt get this. Maybe Iโm amazed was a highlight and bloody brilliant but the rest left no impression for me. It wasnโt bad, just uninspiring. Was missing a bit of Laine I think.
Love the Bauhaus Movement, some great art and design came out of it, itโs my vibe. Bauhaus the band though? I didnโt hate it, it felt like they were doing something interesting but I didnโt love it.
It was good and if I liked ZZ Top Iโd bloody love it but they just donโt gel with me as much as I with they did.
Like others have said, the bangers are bangers. I thought the lesser known tracks would be worse. Apart from Rolling in the Deep then album started off weak for me but everything from Set Fire to the rain onwards was descent.
There's something interesting about this I guess but in a bit of a dull way. I'm happy for Syd that he managed to make his art but I don't love it. It's kind of awkward that the best bit of art related to him is Wish You Were Here which he had nothing to do with apart from being missed.
Solid 4. Would listen again
Top 3 Bowie Album for me. Just class. But maybe Iโm biased, I just love young Americans.
As a major public figure, it pays to be vigilant around suspect packages. This comes from personal experience. When North Norfolk Digital was sent a box of heavy metal CDs, muggins here was about to open it when fellow DJ Rudy Gibson shouted over, โCareful, Alan. That contains anthrax.โ I looked at him, scarcely able to believe what he was suggesting. But he continued in more emphatic tones: โThe box of heavy metal CDs, Alan. Contains anthrax. You understand? Anthrax?โ I ran to the boot of my car, pulling off my jumper and shirt, and then stood at my boot, slathering and rubbing my hands and face, chest and neck with handfuls of Swarfega. My colleagues watched from the upstairs windows, checking I was OK. Of course, I quickly realised that Gibson had been joking and that Anthrax was the name of a heavy metal band or singer whose CD might have been in the box. I looked up at the window and waved and laughed and dressed and mused on how fantastic it was to have colleagues who could share practical jokes like this. Sure enough, I got into the spirit and played a practical joke on Gibson by getting my assistant to phone him during one of his shows to tell him his elderly mother had had a fall. He was all over the place! But still, I think twice about opening strange packages. It was alright, better than I expected.
Do you compute?? Do you want to fuck off? Golden Brown, texture like shite Luau? Lu ow my ears are bleeding from this shit music. (Actually this song was just a little bad to itโs credit) What the fuck was the start of Super Union trying to achieve apart from annoying the listeners parents who can hear this album being blasted from their angsty sonโs bedroom. New Intro was fairly pleasant but that was maybe just in comparison to everything before. The third worst version of New Math(s) Iโve heard (Lehrer, Burnham, these dweebs) Human Interest was fine, I was fairly neutral to it. Yeah just not that good music really. The only Yank Crime I care about is when those Massholes dumped a load of perfectly good tea in Boston Harbour.
I like funk and this was good but it didnโt hit me in the soul like I want from funk. Well produced but felt a little heartless which was sad for me
It wasnโt unpleasant but it wasnโt inspiring
Third 2 star album, maybe itโs just me at this point. Thereโs a reason most albums released are studio albums, live albums are unpolished and a bit shite. But I think unpolished is what these guys are going for which I honestly donโt hate. Itโs better than your average live albums but it ainโt great
Maybe Iโm being generous but I just love jazz. Havenโt listened to enough Monk before this.
I only knew Beck as the head from Futurama before this. Becks throwing a load of shit at the wall with this album and it almost all sticks for me. Love the use of sampling in this which I donโt always. Just really enjoyable for me, will have to listen to more Beck
Perfectly mid album. Some things I liked, some things I didnโt but it was a fun listen mostly.
1 listen, gut reaction, 5 stars.
Perfect Day is a perfect song for me, I just love it. Everything up to Wagon Wheel was perfect (maybe not Make Up but it was weird in a way I liked) I really didn't like New York Telephone Conversation but the rest was really solid. Maybe it should be a 5 but I can't bring myself to for some reason, even if it has 2 perfect songs on the album.
Nothing I didnโt like about this. Just flowed perfectly. I donโt absolutely love it but it feels like a near perfect album.
The less I paid attention the more I liked it.
Meh
Well this was just bad. I canโt stand Nu Metal, it seems to have very little musicality, and this album has almost none. All Nu Metal sounds like satire of itself to me. If I made music this bad Iโd kill myself.
I just love this style of music. 4 star. No notes
I thought the all lowercase song title was a modern stylistic choice. Turns out these guys were doing it in the early 90s. It makes me irrationally angry, it feels like a choice to be different for the sake of being different. If Iโm wrong Iโm sorry but youโre no E E Cummings. Probably would have been a 2 star but the lowercase left such a bitter taste in my mouth.
This just isn't for me. It's not bad at all but I finished listening to it and honestly can't remember any of it, even the songs I already knew.
Interesting enough. Slightly more interesting than conventional rock but also less fun.
I really vibed this. Donโt know why, it just did it for me.
Steely Dan is the best of dad rock. Just great quality and enjoyable.
Surprisingly solid
It was pretty good
New Wave is just one of those genres Iโm indifferent to. Sometimes Iโm enjoying it, other times Iโm indifferent to it. I never hate it though. This is solid New Wave
I feel dad rock falls on a spectrum of if a dad were to be driving me somewhere and he played this band do I think weโll have a good chat or will he say stuff that was acceptable in the 70s but isnโt so much nowadays. This falls into the latter but itโs still solid music. Itโs dumb and load but it does that well.
It was pleasant enough but didnโt blow me away. I imagine if you donโt like jazz it was not so enjoyable
People like U2 and thatโs absolutely fine. I just donโt really care for them and I hope thatโs fine too. Some nice enough songs but it just didnโt grab me. Honestly, if Iโm going to listen to Bono Iโll stick on Iโve Got You Babe.
I didnโt know what to expect, I really enjoyed the vibe. Felt unique enough
Oasis are alright but there's no way this is a great album? Surely they just have a few bangers and that's it? How wrong I was, banger of an album. I was tempted to dock them a star for being City supporters but it's too good to do that.
Solid fine album. Didnโt pay too much attention but I enjoyed the bits I did tune into
Live albums rarely do it for me. Itโs so difficult to capture that gig vibe and this is no exception. That being said it is Thin Lizzy so itโs pretty good. Theyโre one of the bands I listen to and hear Chris singing along to in my head. Not a bad thing, just an observation.
I actually read the lyrics along whilst listening to this, definitely made it a more enjoyable listening experience being aware what they were rapping about. Yeah, I don't dislike Public Enemy, they seem a little angry but if I was singing about 400 years of racial injustice and oppression I'd be pretty pissed off too.
I have to say it's a real tragady that this is the only foray into Ornette Coleman on this list, The Shape of Jazz to Come definitely feels more deserving of a place on this list than some of the dad rock I've had to slog through. Never heard of John Zorn before but I love that he deliberately resists category and that can definitely be heard in this album. According to Wikipedia the album approaches โfreeโ jazz from the perspective of hardcore punk, particularly taking note of the contemporary innovations of thrashcore and grindcore. I don't fully know what that means but it makes something super interesting to listen to. It's loud, it's chaotic and I love it. Also, two drummers? That's insane in the best way.
Just a bit bored by it. They seemed to be exploring loads of different music but it was all so surface level to me that it never did anything interesting
It was fine. Although I spent the whole album thinking Iโd rather be listening to Pet Sounds
No thank you. Couldnโt get past the singers voice which just grated on me.
I don't know who this is for but it's not for me. I'm sure Brian had a great time making it and I guess I'm happy it exists but it just didn't do anything for me.
Really enjoyed this mostly. One More Chance didnโt do it for me but Biggy rescued it a few tracks later with the lyrics โYou look so good, huh, I'll suck on your daddy's dick.โ Giving Puff Daddy a shoutout? It was of itโs time ๐คท๐พโโ๏ธ Ummm that BJ?? Wonโt listen to the album again but will give Juicy and Big Poppa the odd play. The intro got me hooked but I was expecting something more socially conscious from it and it didnโt quite hit that.
Itโs the Beatles so itโs good but every cover just made me want to listen to a better version.
Pretty good album for something that feels very 80s. Shout is a banger and Everybody Wants To Rule The World is too but I donโt like it as much. The rest didnโt do much for me, just felt a bit weird but not weird enough to be interesting.
I felt like thrash metal might be my mood yesterday. It was okay. A about Mengele and the holocaust for shock value didnโt sit right with me. You can say itโs to educate and inform but I donโt believe you, you just want to be an edgy boy.
Iโm surprised how much I didnโt hate it
Man that intro just hooks me straight away. Nothing bad to say. Love soul, love good social commentary, just love love love.
I didnโt hate it, it was nice while I was doing a jigsaw. Maybe not what Mr Tortoise was aiming for but Iโll add it to my jigsaw rotation
Felt like I was in Sรฃo Paulo, not that Iโve ever been, but it felt right? For all I know itโs more Casa Bonita than Sรฃo Paulo but the vibes got me
It was fine. Smoke on the Water isnโt even that good a song
Listening to this when the temperature is in the negatives is weird but still enjoyable. Canโt wait to but this album on in the summer when itโs sweltering and I have an ice cold shandy in hand
Didn't like the flag shagging but that wasn't in the original release so I'm going to ignore it. They're like shit, but in a good, fun way.
I kinda like Travis. Canโt be doing with hidden tracks though.
I really liked it. Listened to it while shooting Lamonye Raiders and getting killed by an alligator. Would recommend.
Not weird enough to be interesting, not good enough to be enjoyable.
No thank you, sorry Baaba
The bits I liked the most were the bits that didnโt feature 39 pence
All I could think of listening to this album was in Sound of Music when Liesl asks Captain von Trapp โYes?โ And he replies โNoโ Christopher Plummer was channeling me
I liked it, not as Much as his other album with the cool looking dog but it was fun. Turns out Beck is more than just a head in a jar
Some albums benefit from a good sound system. You can hear the highs coming through crisp and feel the lows in your bones. This album is not one of those. I first tried listening to this through mi decent headphones and thought they were broken, the noises coming through were less than pleasant. I then gave the album another go word my cheap running headband cum headphones and it was a much more pleasant experience.
Don't really know why, but instant classic. Nice sound, I just really liked it. I listened to the bonus tracks as Adams originally wanted to release it including those as a double LP so they count for me!
Solid 4, maybe it's nostalgia but I like the vibes. California Dreaming is one of those songs that sound timeless
I kinda liked it, first three songs hit for me. Highlights: I Luv U, Fix Up Look Sharp, Cut 'em off, Jus' a Rascal & Jezebel
Indifferent
Short, sweet, solid album.
I like this Gaye guy, heโs pretty good.
A love song about Isreal hasn't aged well, although I don't know the politics and history enough to tell you whether this was a bad take in 1973. Bee Gees are a weird one where I respect them as musicians but can't stand their music mostly. Although this was all a little dull.
Really enjoyed it surprisingly as all the other Iggy and Stooges stuff Iโve heard I hated. Trailed off a bit at the end but solid.
I liked it. Long like. Feels like a way to tick off Ella and Gershwin at the same time.
I feel like this was probably something in 1974 but in 2025 I'm left totally unphased
I liked bits of it and didn't care for others but generally it was positive and well produced. Really liked Justified and Ancient, will listen to that more I reckon if I remember.
I liked it, short and sweet but it didn't blow me away.
Tried listening a few times and Iโve got nothing to say.
Really enjoyed it at the beginning, trailed a bit but it was solid enough for a 4 for me
I just fucking hate punk. With some exceptions. This is not one of them.
Mostly liked it, a few bangers I'd heard before. Varied but in a good way.
Very pleasant
I mean it's fun and I enjoy listening to it but it's nothing incredible. I mostly just thought I'd rather be listening to Cash
Thought it was going to be a five but I think listening to anything after Genesis is going to sound amazing. Really enjoyed it to start with but Up On Cripple Creek got a bit repetitive and it got a bit boring after that
I really quite liked this, it's not my usual jam and I don't know when I'd listen again but there was nothing wrong with it at all. Good job Portishead.
These guys are just fun and Iโll listen whenever. They caught me in a good mood but they do what they do so well. No song stands out but itโs just a solid whole album with every song being at least a 4/5. This album has left Skidmarks On My Heart.
I think I left my wallet in the club. I really like this, itโs different and a vibe and I can tell the guys enjoying himself. Really enjoyed Tokyo and the collabs with K Dot and Wiz Khalifa but the whole album was really fun. I was going to see Thundercat play a gig but couldnโt for some reason, would like to at some point after this.
Dumb and fun I guess.
I hated this with a passion. I donโt know why but I did
Last night I watched the Super Bowl halftime show which was absolutely incredible. Kendrick Lamar finished with tv off. He was trying to warn me but I didnโt listen.
3 months ago I worked on a Blondie tribute act and was quietly optimistic. I know some of their songs (Blondie is the name of the band, not the singer, something I learnt working that night!) and theyโre pretty good. I finished the gig and was blown away by how much I enjoyed it. Now onto this album. All good shit, 5 stars!
Not me, thatโs whoโs buying. I didnโt hate it but Iโm no thrash fan
Leonard Cohen is just growing on me. What a sad boy.
No notes, perfect album.
It was alright, not as good as exodus though
It made me bored but didnโt make me annoyed.
Came in with high hopes! A few good songs and a few great songs but too much mediocre stuff to make it a great album. In incredible 30 minute album padded out to 50
This wasnโt all that memorable which is a shame as I like Neil Young. Maybe a few more listens would do it for me but itโs a solid3 for now
Man so many of these albums I enjoy until they start singing about sex in lurid detail and then I just find it a bit icky. That Ike Turner line was in fucking poor taste. And can we leave Monica Lewinsky alone? Drake? Ew. This is just an album of poor taste. That being said the music is pretty good, if it wasn't for the stupid childish lyrics a load of the time it'd be a decent album. Then we had certified lover boy
I thought I was going to like this. I really did not. Very generic and uninspired.
I liked it
I was listening to this thinking it wasnโt really for me but I still liked it. I think if you can achieve that you deserve four stars.
Itโs crazy how many people The Beatles influenced isnโt it? Imagine it being 1969 and you releasing a song that the Beatles could have done 5 years ago? Just give up on trying to be good Bee Gees and pivot to disco. Itโs bad, but in a good way and you do it well
I love Otis Redding but I don't think you can pick an album of his that's solid. Would have loved to see him live longer and see where his music went, there was so much potential but we live in the world we live in.
Big fan
This albums fucking bonkers and I loved it. Just one listen and I don't think I fully appreciated it but that first impression was something special. Kate Bush at her Bushiest and I'm here for it.
Solid Dylan album, enjoyed it thoroughly but itโs not my favourite of his
Generous 4 but it impressed me
Wasnโt too much of a chore, really enjoyed the chill vibe of this. Especially the song with rain in the background
Really enjoyed this, not massively blown away but it's my kind of thing and she does it really well.
Just really digged this, it's a vibe I'm here for. Laura Nyro seems like the kind of girl who would completely fuck my life up and I'd be into it.
Fuck this for existing. Found out this is Frank Zappa, I've always thought I should get into him but maybe I was wrong.
Liked this less than the other Byrds album, still a 3 though
I kinda liked it, the skits were fun and the music was good but it didn't do a lot for me.
Man I really like Nick Drake, I can let my mind wonder and enjoy the music and love it or focus in on the lyrics and love it. Musically just magic.
More songs need a Vibraslap in them, and for that reason I love Bongolia. Caught me on a good day, stopped after Bongo Rock as that's the original release. It's nothing special but it's fun.
I have nothing bad to say about U2. I have nothing good to say either really.
It was fine
Something different, I liked it
The beginning really annoyed me. Thought I was going to hate it. Warmed a bit to it with Nothing Can Stop Us but not enough
Fantastic singer, fantastic songwriter and by all accounts a fantastic human being. One of my favourite albums, Praying for Time comes in there like a wrecking ball and just gets me pumped for the whole album. Freedom! 90 is just an incredible song. Love the album, love the man, George doesn't get enough love in my opinion.
I just really hated this. Canโt explain it. On a different day it may have been different
Sheet music? More like Shite Music. Only joking it was aight. The big black mama in a tree was a choice.
Started off really liking this, there are some bangers on here I'll listen to again but it trailed off a bit at the end which is a real shame because it was close to a 5.
Maybe I'm being generous but I really liked this, solid sound with a load of influences I could hear but it still sounded unique. Might listen to more of these guys.
I didnโt care for it
I just don't get the hype. Maybe if I approached this album never having heard of The Boss I might have liked it more but it's a bit late for that isn't it?
Madonna, I owe you an apology. I wasn't really familiar with your game. Mate, I really liked this. Like A Prayer was descent but then the next few songs really got me going. Till Death Do Us Part is a ballsy song and I love it. Cherish is just great pop, if not a little long, would have been a perfect 3 minuter. Act of Contrition has Princes fingers all over it and was weird and I liked it.
I might like it more after a few more listens
I couldnโt tell whether I liked this or not. I think I did?
I liked it.
I don't care for Missy Elliott
I got nothing from this album
I certainly didnโt hate this but it left me with absolutely no impression
Didn't think this would be my thing at all but I really enjoyed it. Felt both chill and upbeat at the same time. I don't know when I'd ever listen to it but it was really enjoyable well made music.
Pretty decent for a live album
Now Iโm not usually one for vulgar songs but Whyโd Ya Do It was great and earned the right. The rest of the album was pretty great, liked the title track and last two songs the most
Imagine being Drake, you get publicly destroyed for being a nonce and then Lemmy was out there singing about underage girls sucking him off and he got a free pass.
Side One is banger after banger, Side Two is a bit weaker but the last few songs are phenomenal and just a lovely way to finish the album.
Dude may be a bit of a prick but he writes a good tune
Solid dad rock.
Really liked this. The cover of Helter Skelter was fun, definitely put their own twist on it which was nice.
Morrissey is a daft prick but I writes a good song
Fuck it, 5 stars. Solid mix of tunes, thereโs a song where killing and torturing someone is an extended metaphor for making beer. What more could you want?
For being music I donโt really like it wasnโt all that bad. I kind of liked Battlestar Scralatchica
This music can be hit or miss with me but I quite liked it. She Told Me So was a particular favourite
I think I listened to this album at the perfect time, let me set the scene: Iโve just got back from the shops having bought some things for the house. Nothing fancy, a few cushions for the sofa and some artwork for the walls. Itโs not much but it brightens the place up and it feels more like home. Itโs a cool March evening, you can tell Springs trying to fight through but itโs still a little chilly. I put this on and start pottering around the house, folding washing and putting it away, staring out my window at the cars and people crossing the bridge over the river. Itโs still light outside, weโre in the golden hour. I do the last few jobs I need to get done around the flat, washing up and tidying away after putting up those paintings. I sit down on the sofa as this albums coming to an end, the new cushions are great and Iโm looking at the William Morris artwork that Iโve put up with the quote on the bottom โHave nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.โ Itโs dark outside now, the days gone but every day from now itโll stay a little lighter for a little longer. Iโm quietly content, the only thing Iโm missing is a cold glass of white wine as I take a moment to myself and just enjoy it. Iโm happy.
Liked it, didnโt love it. Itโs no Zombie
Well now I've listened to this I've only got 2 more Nick Cave albums on this list to listen to so that's something I guess? How the hell does this guy appear 6 times on this list? It's not bad, but like, what the hell am I missing with this geezer? Each additional album has added absolutely nothing and is just more of the same apart from Junkyard, which was absolute dogshit.
Iโm sure a lot of jazz purists take issue with Winehouse but is there anything more authentically jazz than battling with substance abuse throughout your life? Love love love this album
I've worked on a few ABBA tributes in my time and I always enjoy it but it always feels a bit ironic. Like ABBA are a bit shit so if the tributes are shit it's fine, it's inkeeping. But ABBA were descent, I really enjoyed the whole of this album. Everything up to One of Us I really enjoyed, Two For The Price of One was a bit dull but Slipping Through My Fingers was honestly such a beautiful song that I've never properly listened to, I teared up a bit TBH. Fuck it, ABBA are actually good and I like them. Maybe I'm beaing generous but I miss Rozza driving me to work and us listening to ABBA Gold. Now that's a 5 star album.
I thought I'd either love this or hate this, turns out I was kind of indifferent. Legalize it? Yes, but don't play the song, it's a bit shite. I liked Ketchy Shuby though.
Nothing stood out, good or bad. Utterly forgettable.
This both did nothing for me and also annoyed me. I donโt know what it is about this style of singing but it just gets on my tits.
The most punk punk album. Short sweet and to the point, I still donโt like punk but I appreciate and respect this album. Plus the first song is great legal advice which gets it an extra star
I got nothing from this album, utter indifference
Enjoyed lots of it but it didnโt grab me and dragged a bit. A high 3
Nah, bits I liked but it didnโt do much for me. Came in with high hopes and was disappointed
I really enjoyed the last song. It was a fun vibe but wasnโt enamoured. Iโve heard better albums called Giant Steps.
Better than there other album. Tolerable
Really great satire of heavy metal. The devil worshipping and death shtick was funny. Wait, this isnโt satire? Oh dear, oh dear.
Itโs a different vibe, really enjoyed it.
You know what, this could have been a 5. Close but pretty darn good.
Solid stuff Ray, close to a 5 but not quite
You know what? This was alright.
The best Yes album Iโve been made to listen to because of this damned list
I liked some bits. I didnโt like others. It was short at least?
Good stuff, I like this Cohen geezer.
I love and respect the influence King has had on music but this didnโt do all that much for me. Felt very disjointed for a live album.
Was expecting very little and came away very impressed. Could have been a 5 on another day
It's shit, but it's well produced shit? Like I can't hate them for having terrible taste in music but I can hate the music. It's a weird place to be honestly. This is the musical equivilent of Michelangelo sculpting David out of shit.
Fair play, for music thatโs not for me this was descent. Generous 4
More of this please. Different and fun.
I can't tell if I'm lauging at this guy or with this guy but I kinda enjoyed it and he seemed fun. Listening to a guy who's known for his wit and not understanding the language is certainly a barrier but I had a good time with Jacques.
I liked it well enough but it dragged a bit
I came in with kinda low expectations which is honestly the way to do this list. I was blown away. Loved the wide amount of instruments involved. I was thinking it was giving me slight Michael Kiwanuka vibes and he collabs on the last track! Venom was a highlight for me but I loved it all a lot.
I came into this expecting to give it a low score, I'd listened to it a few times in the past and had written it off as interesting but not necessarily good. Listening this time I was waiting to get annoyed by it at some point but it never came. Revolution 9 isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be but it did feel unnecessarily long. It's a good album, nothing felt like filler, and it's pretty influential. You get five stars, definitely belongs on this list.
I did not enjoy this at all and I thought I would. New Delhi was a choice, as was the album cover.
Listened to this lounging on the roof at work, it was warm and lovely. There was so much going on with this album surprisingly, music kept changing up in interesting ways.
You know what? It was pretty good.
I just found this kind of boring. I had no problem with it but it just felt like it wasnโt doing anything interesting or worth talking about
Ran a half marathon and listened to most of this. I donโt get Drum and Bass but this was fine. Iโm sure it was influential for the genre but I donโt care mate. Generous 3 as I was happy with my half marathon time
I thought I might like it then every song was the same
Yeah, pretty good. I love that this album used to brake computers.
Surprised how much I enjoyed this. Itโs a unique vibe.
I liked it, with a few more listen it could become a 5
Great songs, perfect for the bath after finishing a long run.
I liked this more than I thought I would. That being said I didnโt love it. High 3 for these guys
I tried to listen to this whole album but it just kept playing Big Iron. 10/10 would recommend.
Listened to this while paddle boarding. I wanted to like this more than I did. Light My Fire was too long and self indulgent but the rest of the album I didnโt dislike. Felt it showed itโs age a bit but they did alright them doors
Iโm always feeling a little randy to be honest. Sail Away was a highlight, Political Science was great. Just enjoyed the whole thing.
It was okay but man fuck Eric Clapton
Sorry PJ, love your other albums but this missed for me. The fact sheโs not afraid to mix things up is a positive for me though.
Different enough that I kind of enjoyed it.
Maybe I've given Coldplay too much slack. This was enjoyable
A hate the culture vulture vibes and I hate how much I liked it. Just credit the artists you steal from dude. White people, eh?
Good shit. Hit pretty hard.
I enjoyed it. Initially ironically and then I actually got into it.
I love dancing to it, just listening to it was less fun but still enjoyable
I like Gil, solid album of him doing his thing.
Some bits I kind of liked but it was too incoherent
Man fuck prog rock and fuck the Canterbury scene. This is unbelievably pretentious and that's coming form a jazz lover.
Solid album, 7 nation army is a banger but I feel it could play with dynamics more if I'm honest. Not as good as the othe White Stripes album IMO but I still quite liked it.
Pop by numbers
Very solid album, love everything on here. Didnโt know They Wonโt go When I Go was Stevie originally and really liked his version, i think more than the George version (sorry!)
Just really bloody loved this. Tight
Started off thinking I was going to quite like it, then it just became okay.
Nah, not for me
Iโll usually get an album like this and think, I donโt get it but letโs do some research to contextualise it. There was no contextualisation of this album that I could find. It was fine but undeserving to be on this list.
Maybe it deserves a 5 and it may have got it on more listens. Loved the use of male and female vocals, felt very unique.
I wasnโt too sure, you get a 3 for ending on Gil Scott-Heron. I like Kanye when heโs not trying to be clever. I donโt like thinking about his two black balls. I also donโt like Nazis.
Knowing me, Elliot Roberts, knowing you, a-ha. A-ha! I hated this. Even Take on Me couldnโt save this album. Itโs like an alien tried to make 80s music and did a shit impression of the worst parts.
Woody Guthrie with no bite. Talented but heartless for me.
Solid Bob.
I both hate this and canโt bring myself to hate this. Itโs odd.
Opening track was a banger and if the rest of the album was at that level it would be a very solid 5. The rest was really good but not great enough for a 5.
Was a vibe and I absolutely loved it. The talking bits were great, the songs were great, the piano. It was just perfect for me.
It was fine
I got nothing from this, maybe it's harsh but I just don't see the appeal. Sympathy for the Devil is pretty good though.
I felt like I was listening to a bunch of middle age guys doing covers of Beatles b sides. It was kinda bad but I couldnโt bring myself to hate it
I was hoping this would be a telling of the Germanic Legend. It was not.
Not for me. Didnโt completely hate it though
This album is like the film Apollo 13, I liked it. Although this album doesnโt have Tom Hanks or Kevin Bacon in it so it loses a star for that.
I heard Witness as Wet Nurse which was funny. It was fine with a few bangers.
Its pleasant but didnโt really leave me with anything.
Fleetwood Mac made some of their best music while fighting. Rumours. No, it's all true.
Solsbury Hill is a banger and possibly one of my favourite songs, it just gets me right in the heart. But the rest of this album really annoyed me and I wanted to like it! Oh well onto So which is a five star album.
Love this album and every song hits for me. Teasing me with some Kate Bush in donโt give up will always make me happy.
Now this is punk. Oh man I really liked this. Gives me Woody Guthrie vibes obviously. There is Power in a Union always gets me going. Help Save the the Youth of America I really enjoyed, I'm so used to people slagging off America and it feeling really smug and condescending but this feels like Bragg genuinely cares and believes in the country and that it's just lost it's way. Thatcher Fucked the Kids
I like Nick Drake a lot.
Good stuff
Too many covers I think that didnโt really add much to the original. Started off strong but waned.
Loved this man.
Banger after banger. Just enjoyed the whole album.
I like Alice Cooper, I donโt love them. Having some West Side Story was a surprise but a welcome one.
One listen. Gut instinct 4 star. The Brian Wilson news sucked, dude is a world class musician and will be missed. The music and harmonies in this are so weird but they work so well. What a pioneer.
Some bangers on her. Not quite back to basics and it trailed off at the end but I really liked it still
Easy 5. Love Lady Day.
