Reviews (page 5 of 14)
Yes new wave completely effortlessly cool blistering music surreal to think the 80s were real it feels like a fake time of fuzzy synths and programmed drums and ronald reagan
Some great songs, was more into this in high school
A few songs I've never heard I really like on here, like "11:59". Ofc the classics are great too
This is the only Blondie record I ever owned (bought it after hearing "Fade Away and Radiate" on the radio). I hadn't heard it in ages, and I enjoyed it. "Fade Away," "Hanging on the Telephone," "One Way or Another," and "Heart of Glass" are classics, and the rest of it is fun. 4 stars
This is another album where I know every note to the hits, yet there are songs that I never heard before or barely remember. Debbie Harry's voice is just so good, and the overall sound is amazing now like it was then. It's funny that this "new wave" album has songs that sound like country music sounds now (e.g., "Picture This"). I really enjoyed this album.
Good fun
This album was actually awesome. All the blonde songs I know are on it except for one or two. Loved the vibe and the tone. I would definitely listen to this again. 4/12/26
Sick 70s album!! I knew more songs from this then i thought, but especially some new ones were my favourites ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I liked this one quite a bit actually. Pretty fun album throughout, has lots of recognizable hits and popular songs, which are fun to hear, cause I didn't even know that all of those were on the same album, or even from this band from that matter. The record throughout sounds very modern and fresh too actually, for something made in the late 70s, which really surprised me. So, 4/5.
I think for its intended purpose - being a tap-inducing dance oriented fun new wave record - it’s great. Starts strong, continues to be strong through the middle (I Know But I Don’t Know - what a song, a hidden gem), but towards the end gets a bit muffled (that cover of Buddy Holly is just meh). If not that it would’ve been 5 from me.
Couple of good songs, iconic ones even. The rest is just … ok
What a banger! Musicality is there for sure, lyrically I haven't gotten into it, I just had it in the background but gave it a full listen 2x times already! Need to get a lyrical readalong as well soon
I dig. Good stuff.
Hanging on the Telephone One Way or Another 11:59 Sunday Girl Heart of Glass Just Go Away
Hanging On The Telephone One Way Or Another Fade Away and Radiate 11:59 Sunday Girl Heart of Glass
Took a number of listens to warm up to the ones I didn't know, but eventually this grew on me really nicely. It becomes a cool indie conglomeration of different styles and sounds.
Ahead of their time fr
Good fun! Great mix of punk sensibilities with catchy pop. Favourite track: Heart of Glass
Very fun album with some absolute classics If you hate this album you hate women, I don't make the rules Fave track: Heart of Glass 4
Super solid hit-out from Blondie. 4/5
Great
this was so cute. i know blondie are awfully popular but this album is so underrated imo. there are many other bangers than the popular songs!! give it a listen
Already love this album, incredible first pull for me. I think Eat to the Beat is better, but this one has all their original hits
I feel like this band birthed all the female-lead punk-rock bands that came after.
245/1089 heart of glass album let’s GOOO. Cool of them to cover One Direction’s One Way or Another too, their version’s great really enjoyed the album. however, as a Heart of Glass lover, it was a shame that that’s kinda the only song like it on the album faves: Heart of Glass, One Way or Another, Once I Had A Love, Anything Will Happen, Sunday Girl 81/100
Another one that held up over the years.
Great album, solid 80s pop. One of the best. Four stars
hocus pocus 2
This album has a couple of new wave classics in "One Way Or Another" and "Heart Of Glass". I also enjoyed the tracks that veered from the formula of those hit tracks, specifically the darker vibe on the track "Fade Away And Radiate" and the ensemble rock sound of "I Know But I Don't Know". There's such a plethora of hits on this album it's hard to really pin down which is the 'standout'. One Way or Another I think is probably the most well known Blondie song just due to the amount of (cheesy) films it's appeared in. Basically the most cliche chase scenes of all time feature this song. Heart of Glass is a close second, but did it even feature on the original release or was it a bonus track? I don't know. Any hoots, I liked re-listening to this for the umpteenth time. 4 sentimental hot stars.
In 1998, I saw Blondie live at the local Alternative Radio festival. Nobody was really there to see Blondie, they were there to see Hole, or the Foo Fighters, etc. Let me tell you, Debra Harry put on a hell of a show that summer afternoon. All the girls got up started moving & grooving. It was an amazing, unexpected thing to see. Especially within that demographic. I was thoroughly impressed. Fun, infectious album that would be fun to hear on a wonderful summers day. 4
This was a really enjoyable album to listen to and it has 'Heart of Glass' on it! Four stars!
I dig Blondie, not sure I've ever listened to an album though. This is pretty good stuff.
A pretty good album with some absolute classics, there were a couple songs that I didn’t particularly like. I think the overall issue with this album is that it’s incredibly whiplashy, so many genres so quickly, going from a punk rock song into disco is incredibly weird.
I love Blondie, Deborah Harry is a badass! Could listen to this any day!
Blondie's best album (even though it doesn't have their best song): snap tight new wave pop songs, Clem drums like a maniac and Debbie Harry is great.
Man, this is good. From opening of the first track, “Hanging on the Telephone,” every detail is on point. The album glides effortlessly between punk, disco, rock, and even 50s doo wop, with Debbie Harry effortlessly in control.
love the song writing on this, and the voice... wow
Debbie Harry sounds great with anything, and the rhythm section sounds tight and also fresh and inventive
Back from when Blondie was kind of punk. It’s a pretty solid album.
Strong album. Funny that if you held a gun to my head I wouldn't have known One Way or Another was a Blondie song. And did I catch a slightly ska like guitar in the middle there. Would listen again, pluck out the gems and skip the rest.
First Album where Blondie started to come together musically and production quality, while sort of expanding into different music genres
Charming music, really makes you feel in the late 70's - 80's Fav. Track(tough choice): Heart of Glass
Blondie is amazing
Great album
Fun rock and roll album that features songs that aren't just from movies or commercials from 30 years ago.
3/4 I didnt know the songs "One Way or Another" & "Heart of Glass was from this band.
I knew "One Way or Another" and "Heart of Glass" of course, but "Sunday Girl" was new to me and a great discovery. Three songs added to my liked playlist!
I'd happily listen again.
Catchy, with tons of feeling. Many songs in this album feel rock-tumbled by the zeitgeist, their hard edges worn smooth through hard use. Close listening shows it still has much to say. Particularly enjoyed the sound of the bridge and ending to one way or another.
Really only familiar with the hits by Blondie, and aware Debbie Harry is an icon, but this album is a real solid group of songs. 2 hits on this albums but all of the songs have a great vibe to them, really tight and well made. Hard to talk about much else here but it's just good
Me re gusta esa canción. Ritmos entretenidos. Me gusta
A fun album with some big hits
An impressively dense album of hits
Bop, bitches
Très bon !
Lovely album, great vocals and strong instrumentals with a lot of surf rock influence
i really like this album because the songs that are good are REALLY good. but the other songs are kind of missing that oomph and feel a little too mild for what feels like the album is based on the standouts. Fav tracks: Hangin’ on the Telephone; One Way or Another; Heart of Glass; 11:59
Great tunes and lyrics, thx!
im the one youre using til the brutish light turns on and shines against mutant cars impossible to distinguish the moon from the lamps you left home unseeded and aghast stomped on petals and leaves worn out by the door impossible to distinguish them from my heart
7/10
Heart of Glass and One Way or Another stand out to me. This album and band set the tone for what was to come. The capably bridged the New Wave and Disco eras.
Super solid rock record. Not a second of wasted time.
A pretty fun album! Singles are amazing and I also particularly enjoyed Picture This and Sunday Girl. I appreciated getting a full album of upbeat songs
Blondie are great, and this is largely because Debbie Harrie has such an insane level of aural charisma that she can carry some pretty basic instrumentation and take it to a whole new level of performance. The first half of this album is so good that the second half suffers because of it.
Classic Groovy Nostalgic Pretty good, I added a few songs that I had never heard before and would listen to this again.
So many good tracks on this album, throughly enjoyed listening to this. Standout songs 'Hanging on the telephone', 'One way or another' and 'Heart of glass'. I think Blondie does a really good job of combing those electrical sounds with regular instruments and tieing it all together with some quality vocals. I thought about this maybe being a 5 star album but on the second listen didnt feel like it quite reached it. Some underated tracks i found were 'Picture this' and 'Sunday girl' but unfortunley some of the other tracks while they were good did bring my rating down. Nevertheless a fantastic and iconic album which I have added to my vinyl wishlist.
Four great songs is enough to get four stars in my book.
When this came up in the list I thought, oh this will be a good one. Lots of the absolute classic Blondie tracks that I grew up with. Heart of Glass is an all time favourite. One Way or Another and Hanging on the telephone compliment this further. Was torn between a high 3 or a low 4. Heart of Glass gets it the 4 stars.
This has lot cooler music than I expected! What a neat record. And a lot more rock than I associated with Blondie, I bet they ruled live back in the day.
Not bad. "Heart of Glass" remains one of the greatest pop songs of all time.
i really like the vibe of most of these songs. all of the hits from this album are classics that i can see myself going back to regularly. 4 / 5 stars
Thank you Blondie
Lots of classics
wasn't too familiar with blondie before this aside from the popular songs, but i really enjoyed this album and don't know why i didn't explore them sooner. Fav songs; picture this 11:59 sunday girl
Pretty great, love the guitar tone and the killer vocals from blondie, paired w some fun lyrics :D
She’s so cool I’m gonna dye my hair blonde
Her voice and the instrumentals are so fire ts is so close to a 5
Liked it way more than I remember
Great album very varied, good order and some great hots amd a few sleeper songs that are amazing
This is by far Blondie's best! Plenty of great tracks, some are classics. "Heart Of Glass" hits different. Can't go wrong with this one. I'll pass on the bonus and live tracks though.
Punk attitude, some timeless classics, and a really nice pace to the whole album.
Banging album, loads of classics. Very rock-esque. Blondie is an icon. Fav song: I Know But I Don't Know Least fav: I'm Gonna Love You Too 4/5
Muito Divertido. Curti várias músicas. Heart of glass é fire!!
Likes: hanging on the telephone, 11:59, heart of glass Fun and energetic throughout
Debbie Harry you gay icon you
- Debbie Harry has a great voice - cool, strong, and emotional at the same time. - I like the confidence in the lyrics, too. - The two big hits are the standouts, but everything is pretty fun. - Instrumentals are tight and measured, but also energetic. I especially like the occasional soaring guitar riffs. - Would have loved to see them live - the charisma is there in the recording, but I think live would have been something else. - I like all the different styles of songs - some, I like more than others, but overall, I really enjoyed this album.
A classic. Debbie Harry's vocals, alternatively snotty and slinky, tear it up with the punky backing music. The two covers, Hangin' on the Telephone and I'm Gonna Love You Too are fun and the originals Heart of Glass, One Way Or Another, and Sunday Girl are excellent singles. Most of the rest of the songs are catchy, hooky, crunchy 80s post-punk new wave ditties. A good record front to back.
What a fun Album! Other than the obvious "Heart of Glass", I never really knew their music. What struck me is that they were a lot edgier and "rockier" than I thought. I now get the whole fuss around Debbie Harry - She is amazing! Great album, and definitely deserves to be on the list.
I really liked the guitar solo at the end of Stay and the opening track was good. I mostly associate Bowie with the weirder stuff, Space Oddity etc., but this was good as well.
Nice album
helps that i’ve heard this album before, dad’s a big fan and i am too by proxy
Blondie...you are something else. I find myself now listening to her other songs now and I'm enjoying myself!
Wasn't expecting to find this album this... mediocre. Aside from the hits, I found it had a lot of filler. That said, those hits... are really, really good. It's gonna get a good rating from me for those alone. Faves: One Way Or Another, Sunday Girl, Heart Of Glass
Cool.
Blondie, I owe you an apology. I wasn't really familiar with your game.
Potent and fun as hell band. What i wish pop-punk actually was.
Uansett. "Picture This" mister meg litt, men vampyr-riffet i "Fade Away and Radiate" tar meg inn igjen.
Driver Parallel Lines, which I've played as a kid some, included a soundtrack of which some songs stuck by me. This includes One Way Or Another, thought I've remembered Suffragette City much much more. But then, I don't remember Low Rider nor Iggy Pop being there. Anyways, it has some hits, somewhat easy listen, but not too much stands out IMO.
This album is a classic, I’ve always enjoyed it and love, listening to some of the songs I had not heard before
The boom of new wave lead by this album, sounds of what would become modern day alternative. Just when the album gets a little repetitive one of their few hits reminds you how big Blondie was and still is for a place of influence
I only knew the name Blondie and thought I’d never really listened to them, but once Heart of Glass came on, I realized I already knew it. What really struck me was Debbie Harry’s vocal style — blunt and cool on the surface, but clearly backed by real singing ability. The overall sound also leans more toward punk than I expected, which I really liked. “One Way or Another” especially stood out to me; it reminded me of Alison Mosshart’s Vivi persona in The Kills.
You could be forgiven for thinking this is a Best Of. Half the tracks were released as singles, Heart of Glass chief among them, and the handful that weren’t include fan favourites such as Fade Away and Radiate and Will Anything Happen? For me, there’s a mid-album lull, and I don’t think much of the Buddy Holly cover. But otherwise it’s a cracking album
Best Song: Heart of Glass I never really foresaw myself a Blondie fan. I knew a few songs but listening to a complete album gets the feet tapping and the head rocking. It isn't perfect, by any means, and a little bit more on the New Wave side than I like but overall I have to give it a 4/5 and will need to listen again.
Love this album. Another of those that I grew up listening too (thanks Dad) in the late 70’s/early 80’s.
What a fun album - completely new to me except a couple of tracks. Fade away and radiate is excellent
Debbie Harry, the legend! Blondie is cited so often as an '80s staple that I didn't realize they began making music in the '70s. This sounds a lot more rock-oriented than I expected, it makes me wish we'd get some other, older Blondie records on the list. 2 songs ad d to playlist.
Great fun album with some iconic tracks. Im not gonna rave over it, but I've got no issues with it 7.5/10
So many classics on this. One record with hit after hit, they really lucked out with the great songwriters in the band in this formation. Everyone you know knows at least one or two songs off this album, and they are great songs which sound awesome too! Great musicians, great songs and awesome sound.
I can’t lie, I thought I would LOVE this but I really just fairly enjoyed it. sometimes it got a little annoying, but I listened to it a ton over the weekend and had some fun so I have to give it credit. Heart of Glass is a classic, thank you Miley Cyrus for bringing it back to the public eye
It’s blondie.
wow what a good time
Wish it was a little longer! 4-4.5
I am actually going to be somewhat briefer than I planned but first: Fanboy review: I LOVE BLONDIE SO MUCH YOU FOR REAL DONT EVEN KNOW AND I CANNOT CONVEY IT I GOT TO SEE BLONDIE IN 2023 AND IT WAS ONE OF THE GREATEST MOMENTS OF MY LIFE AND I LITERALLY CRIED ACTUAL TEARS OF HAPPINESS THEN I ENDED UP GETTING COVID AND IT WAS ALL WORTH IT DEBBIE HARRY IS SUCH A BADASS I LOVE THIS ALBUM I LOVE BLONDIE BUT LIKE ACTUALLY THIS IS NOT THEIR BEST ALBUM AND ANY ONE OF THEIR 70S ALBUMS WOULD GET 5 STARS FROM ME, Rational me review: So. Blondie. As comes up constantly in my reviews, some of the first music that really permeated my consciousness was what came out of CBGB in the late 70s. Blondie were basically the awkward stepchild of that scene: too pop to be punk and too punk to be pop. But with these simplistic and catchy tunes, there’s not a lot that separates them from the Ramones (during Blondie’s hiatus, Clem Burke did go on to… attempt to drum for the Ramones under the moniker “Elvis Ramone” and it went disastrously). Debbie Harry (note, while I am not pretentious enough to call people out for putting "The" in front of Talking Heads, I WILL correct you if you refer to Debbie Harry as Blondie or if you talk about Blondie as a person rather than a band and I WILL be a dick about it) is such a towering icon of early punk music. Singing with such a pronounced New Jersey accent was a play (“I’m in the phone booth, it’s the one across te haawwwll”) and embracing sex appeal and femininity caused the artsier elements of the scene (I am talking about Patti Smith, specifically; a real Betty and Veronica duality) to look down their noses at her, which in retrospect feels like some pretty heavy handed movie irony. Being ostracized from the “be yourself” crew for being yourself. Like I’m just saying if you asked me to edit that screenplay I’d call it too on the nose. Anyway, Debbie Harry was in Videodrome, which is more than I can say for anyone else who played at CBGB, so. This is the third Blondie album and I actually prefer the first, second, and fourth Blondie albums but I love all the early albums a lot. Early Blondie understood better than almost any group that sometimes all you need is a catchy melody and a decent hook. Case in point, there’s no fewer than 5 perfect pop songs here and Blondie refuses to be confined by genre, unlike every other first wave punk group not called Talking Heads.
Some bangers on here for sure. It’s in our record collection.
pero bastantes que no me gustan
Day 170 Strong album, the 3 better known songs are definitely my favourite Highlights Hanging on the telephone One way or another Heart of glass
My sister was obsessed with Blondie for a long while. After listening to this album, I can now understand why.
Essential pop rock.
4.25
Classic Blondie, catchy songs, 4 out of 5
Bekannte Hits: - One Way Or Another - Heart Of Glass Rest bisher nie gehört, aber sehr starke Lieder dabei. Insgesamt positiv überrascht. Album kommt in Sammlung.
Blondie had soooo many bangers all in the same album!
I think the album is what a pop album should be. Catchy upbeat and full of energy. This record captures some whimsy that I can truly appreciate. Will Anything Happen is a great track and those singles. WOW
Wow. Apparently Blondie is really good.
Such a great opening song! Some really fun ones on here. Can be repetitive at times, but ultimately high energy and melodic.
Classic
Bangers.
Surprised how good it was! But I wouldn’t like it in every mood x
Short and sweet, and really good. I knew the famous Blondie songs but had never listened to them properly before. Love the guitars, and her voice is amazing.
The post-chorus riff on "Hanging on the Telephone" is such an earworm. There's quite a bit of that on this iconic album. Debbie Harry has so much swagger from song-to-song, and while not everything reaches the heights of that excellent opener, the power pop flair of "One Way or Another" or the smooth new wave classic "Heart of Glass," the vibes are strong throughout and it feels like the band was really coalescent. And why did the riff on "I Know But I Don't Know" sound like "Octavarium" by Dream Theater lol
Iconico en todo la palabra, blondie IS that girl
This album is stacked. I don't know much Blondie but the ones I do know are all on this album. Debbie Harry has such a great presence and slays every song. And there are a bunch of bangers on Parallel Lines. I didn't love every song, some felt a little old school and a bit clunky, but overall this is a solid listen. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Standouts on this listen were "Picture This" "Fade Away and Radiate" "Sunday Girl" and "Heart of Glass." A really solid 4/5 for me, and I'd love to listen again!
This was a 5 until Sunday Girl, where the songs dropped off in quality imo. However, everything before that was banger after banger. Fade Away and Radiate is one of my new favourite songs.
Solid album with some classics! Really enjoyed it!
What a banger of an album.
I don’t know if it’s nostalgia listening to this growing up because I don’t think I’d like it now but I liked listening to this.
Really good at what it does when approached as a post punk inspired pop album. I like that it is both urgent and seemingly lackadaisical at the same time which sounds like an oxymoron but I think can be true. Consistently good, and variety in the songwriting. Went by at a pace and doesn’t outstay its welcome.
Was nice to dig into this. Very Warholian project; plasticky, postmodern and packaged just so. I like how short and sweet each song is but I just didn’t find this album to have much emotional dynamism. As an exercise in style it has clearly stood the test of time.
Absolute classic sound and attitude to this album, and a great-looking record to have sitting on your now playing shelf.Comes in hot with a great run to start, though it drops off a bit toward the end. 3.5 rounded up bc Debby Harry is cool as fuck.
Great, short songs that blend punk energy and pop hooks. Multiple hits...definitely a fun listen and strong album overall.
This is awesome! Don’t know why I never bothered listening to Blondie outside of their huge songs but these songs are so much fun FAV TRACKS -Picture This
Amé
I had of course heard the bigger singles from this album, but it was exciting to hear the album as a whole. So cohesively good, but not necessarily something I will regularly listen to.
superb. Loved it.
Catchy
Really enjoyed this. I thought it was a really well paced album with only a slight dip at "I know but I don't know" and "11:59" for me.
Flew by, great pop hits back to back. Low 4
Blondie's // is full of variety, from cute pop to new wave and disco. Full of hits and no real duds.
I am not someone who puts music from the 1970s on a pedestal, but I have to admit I envy an era where market conditions regularly allowed bands who had enough label support to fluidly release multiple albums in a year - charting their development in real time. Plastic Letters, released in early 1978, sets out Blondie’s stall with a series of songs that showcase a fun, sunny vibe, but there is a monumental step up with Parallel Lines which is stuffed full of highly energetic singles and doesn’t let you sit still for a second. The introduction of a more post-punk sound has come from nowhere, but it substantially perks everything up. They are firing on all cylinders. Great songwriting meets exceptional style.
Parallel Lines by Blondie is a pleasant surprise, the hits are spot on and the rest of the album is really strong, low to solid 4 for me
Cool! Good exposure to blonde, one way or another I knew, the others I didn’t. Feels classic but also fresh like they were on the frontiers of new wave with synthesizer use. Fade Away and Radiate - super cool, could be a Queen song with a Police outro. Pretty Baby - wow! Oldies vibe with some proggy chord progressions to place it in the 70s. Fun. I know but I don’t know, Yes proggyness, with Sex Pistols vocals and composure. 11:59 the smiths! Will anything happen, post-punk fun. Sunday girl ABBA. The pinnacle with Heart of Glass - just sounds like Blondie cause it is. I’m gonna love you too very themesong-ey, finishing up with a pop punk new wave closer. 4.5/5
i was vibing :]
Fun, sparkly, vibrant. God, I love women.
I likeeeeed it oh my god it has the vibes they knew what the were doing in that studio. Catchy tunes and the voice of Debbie Harry glorious
I like a lot of elements about this album but the weaker songs like pretty baby brings the rating down. I do like a powerful female voice though so this was hard
Like Pretty Baby, Will Anything happen, sunday girl . Theres a 40% chance ill go out if my way to lisyen to the album, but if some songs are oj a playlist probably wouldn’t skip. Feels as though it should be a 4 as its blondie, but id probably rate it a 3,5/3.75. Just finished listening, would rate the album a solid 4 as i feel Heart of Glass redemed the whole thing. Blondie is amazing, and the album is definitely good, i just dont enjoy it as much as it doesnt have that extra sparkle or anything that makes me think, I need to listen to this in my own time. SO its a 4 for the point of this, but i would probably rate it for my liking a 3.5-3.75 The album objectively is probably 4.25, partially because its blondie and heart of glass is so culturally significant.
loving the disco vibes good wind down from work day
Banging. Great voice, classic band, the off songs don’t pull everything down too much and you already know why the classics have survived for 50 years.
Wow! Had my attention from start to finish!
Super fun and generally entertaining album. Very poppy, but I didn't mind in this case. Deborah Harry's singing is really good, and all of the band is playing tightly. The only song that I didn't care for was I'm Gonna Love You Too, but the majority kept me interest. Hanging On The Telephone and Picture This were some of my favorites. 8/10.
A classic , no question
Bright, poppy album from the NYC new wave scene circa 1978. No denying the pleasures of this one though there are some very forgettable songs. I can't help comparing them to the Pretenders--woman-led singer, kind of similar aesthetic-- and, for me, this doesn't measure up to the Pretenders debut. But "One Way or Another," "Hangin on the Telephone," and "Heart of Glass" are all-time greats.
There's definitely some filler here, but the peaks are fantastic, with Hanging on the Telephone, One Way or Another, and especially Heart of Glass. A really enjoyable poppy New Wave record
Obviously packed full of their greatest hits, which I love. However the filler songs are a bit bland and the production is not great. A great album let down slightly by a few things.
A classic, with some pearls in it. Some music clearly surpass others in terms of quality but overall a very comfy listen.
This definitely got better with age.
Banger after banger
This has some of the meatiest guitars you'll find in new wave while still having plenty of pop sensibilities. It starts off with the meatiest cuts: "Hanging on the Telephone" is an excellent short opener, "One Way or Another" has almost angular guitars, and "Picture This" has a great climax. The second half contains the poppier songs, like "Sunday Girl" and "Heart of Glass." By the end things have worn a bit short, partially because the Buddy Holly cover could have been cut; I like the old school rock sound on the opening cover, but it works less well here. Still, this stands out in the new wave / power pop scene because of its variety and its many hooks.
overall a banger feel like i needed a blondie moment added whole album besides like 2
For a first Blondie album, it’s a great introduction to the band. This album is energetic and fun
Really solid album. Theres some 50’s throwback rock n roll undercurrent in a lot of songs, others are fully moving into the 80’s rock/glam scene. Notable tracks include Hanging on the Telephone, One Way or Another, Picture This, Fade Away and Radiate, Pretty Babe, I Know But I Don’t Know, 11:59, Sunday Girl, Heart of Glass.
I’d forgotten how great Blondie are. This album is just hit after hit. I haven’t listened to this album for about twenty years outside of hearing the singles in the wild, but the album tracks are so strong. There are maybe one or two I’d cull if I was being picky, but so many gems to be found here.
It was good. It was a nice call to the past with an upbeat vibe.
The 2 hits are outstanding, will need multiple listens to appreciate the rest.. takes me back to my college years. They were wildly popular thanks to Deborah.
Very poppy and rocky. I liked the bounce and kind of weirdness to it
Hanging On The Telephone - 9/10: I like the chorus and the beat/instruments. One Way Or Another - 7/10: Classic, but not my favorite. Picture This - 7/10: I like the instruments/beat in this song, especially the drums. Fade Away And Radiate - 7/10: I like the guitar on this song. Pretty Baby - 8/10: I like the vocals and guitar. Also the intro. I Know But I Don't Know - 8/10: I really like the instruments/beat on this one, especially the drums toward the end of the song. 11:59 - 9/10: I also really like the instruments and beat on this one, along with the vocals. The drums are very good. Will Anything Happen - 8/10: I like the drums and the mini guitar solo at 1:33. Sunday Girl - 8/10: I like the instruments/beat and the vocals. Heart of Glass - 7/10: I like the vocals and lyrics. Another classic. I'm Gonna Love You Too - 7/10: I like the mino guitar solo around the 1:00 mark. Very fast paced, but it works. Just Go Away - 7/10: I like the instruments/beat, especially the guitar. Overall Score: 92/120 Overall Ranking: 8/10: Honestly, I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. No 10/10 songs for me personally, but still a great album. I am not a huge fan of Blondie, since I really only know their popular songs, but I really enjoyed this album. I am pleasantly surprised.
really enjoyed this one, a good dance vibe. obviously the classics like heart of glass and one way or another but i also really enjoyed some others that i knew less like picture this and hanging on the telephone!
Cool Album, I guess they were a good live band
Favorite Tracks: Picture This / 11:59 / I'm Gonna Love You Too / Just Go Away Rating: 4.1 I've heard Blondie's hits, of course, but this was my 1st time listening to this album. Quite a range of sounds, but great guitar work throughout and Debbie Harry's voice sounds great across the album. Enjoyable listen!
I love blondie! An interesting listen but I wish. There was more variety.
there were definitely songs that grabbed me more than others but overall i had a lot of fun listening to it !
Awesome album by Blondie that feels way ahead of it's time. The classics One Way or Another and Heart of Glass on this album. Really great rock/punk album. I really liked Hanging on the Telephone as well. Sunday Girl was also a fun song that sounds like a sitcom opening.
Great album, lots of fun, great energy!
fun!
Sympa
really enjoyed this one!!
Top pop. I didn’t realise that they crammed all their big anthems onto one album though. They’ve follow ups must have been deflating.
I overall enjoyed the album, there are some hits but the songs in the middle of the album weren't quite as good. You can definitely tell it was on the early edge of the new wave era.
Note - 4/5
Hit after hit!
One Way or Another, Hanging on the Telephone, Pretty Baby, Heart of Glass - SHE IS A MF QUEEN
Pretty good overall! Some great classic Blondie songs I already knew, and nothing that stood out as a misplaced song on a first peruse!
Great cover art.
Eclectic — atmospheric — “cool”
wish i got myself a blondie 👱♀️ feels like i’m floating when i’m listening to fade away and radiate i was meant to be born in this era
Really like this album, very energetic. Very Blondie
Such great memories. Amazing band at the height of their powers with lovely Rickenbacker driven pop. Some great songs - and a few forgivable fillers.
Love!
This was a super fresh listen but as I got to the 10th song on this record, I started having flashbacks from being nearly paralytic inside of a karaoke bar in Tokyo with some random tourists and my mate going on about how Heart of Glass is actually a masterpiece because the lyrics are just 'word salad' and proceeding to scream the lyrics in a high pitched girls voice. I was unfortunately on the verge of liver failure at this point and was in no state of mind or body to question whatever the fuck he meant by that. Still, it's a great song with some fond memories attached. There's such a plethora of hits on this album it's hard to really pin down which is the 'standut'. One Way or Another I think is probably the most well known Blondie song just due to the amount of (cheesy) films it's appeared in. Basically the most cliche chase scenes of all time feature this song. Heart of Glass is a close second, but did it even feature on the original release or was it a bonus track? I don't know. Fuck I was so close to giving this a 5 but I just think the lull between Fade Away And Radiate & Will Anything Happen is a bit of a detractor. Sounds like a lot of filler. 4.7/5.
A very fun album that blends genres together, keeping it pretty fresh throughout. It's not a masterpiece album or anything, despite the fact that Heart of Glass is on here. I am surprised that I enjoyed the deep cuts here as much as I did. Highlights: Hanging on the Telephone, One Way or Another, Fade Away and Radiate, Heart of Glass
One way or another and heart of glass (especially) are major hits. The rest of the album was a fun listen as well, where picture this was my favorite. Saved some songs and going to spin it again.
This is PEAK Blondie! Amazing songs, fantastic production, a band on fire, and hello, Debbie!!!!!
Awesome new wave record. Some songs are better than others but overall a nice selection of classic tracks that defined the late 70s
Heart Of Glass, One Way Or Another and Heart Of Glass are classic
Strong, fun album. Didn't realize so many hits came off this album, but it's great.
Blondie really knew how to make a catchy song. Besides the big hits, there are plenty of less popular earworms like Sunday Girl and Picture This. Solid album.
An amazing album chock full of at least three perfect songs (Hanging on the Telephone, Picture This and Heart of Glass) and plenty of other bangers (Fade Away. One Way etc). Debbie Harry was just perfection as a pop star, singer, woman, everything. Nearly a five but a few songs just bring it down.
Some absolute belters, this is an album to put on, turn it up and sing along to and just skip a couple of duds that
Pop quality with a new wave touch. They’re still a better singles band.
Både "Picture This", "Sunday Girl" og "Heart of Glass" er klassikere. "Fade Away and Radiate" pleide jeg å skippe, men nå liker jeg den. Istedet skipper jeg gjerne "Pretty Baby". "Hanging on the Telephone" er en ypperlig coverlåt av kultbandet The Nerves, selv om de ikke helt klarer å fange desperasjonen i originalen. Samtidig er Buddy Holly-coveren "I'm Gonna Love You Too" en liten oppgradering.
It was just punky and funky enough. It was a really enjoyable listen, with at least 3 songs I already knew and loved, but I definitely felt like I could come back and listen to it again without a problem.
Great album
Hit after hit after hit. It sousds surprisingly modern, and I hadn’t noticed how good the drumming was before.
Love this album. Timeless sounding rock.
So, One Way or Another is not my favorite song and that's so much of what I thought of when I thought of Blondie (in the rare occurrence when I remembered who sang it). The other tracks on this album balance it out so well. I Know but I Don't Know is much more chill and reasonable and isn't even one of the strong tracks. But the instruments are much more highlighted in tracks like these.
Wait. I like Blonde. So many bangers on this album
4.5
Really, really fun album. I knew a couple of songs before listening, but all the rest have the same up beat tempo, fun loving sound that really draws you in. Not exactly my style of music, but I still really enjoyed it and would love to listen to it again.
4 out of 5. This album has all the hits doesn't it? Overall a good time.
There's some really solid hits on here, solid experience
Classic
blondie more like suckie
I really enjoyed this - I really like Blondie, but don't think I have ever listened to the whole album. There's just something about Debbie Harry's vocals that draws me right in. I know that Heart of Glass is considered the best of the album, but I prefer "One Way or Another" - just a classic. Top notch album and just so cool.
So good. Blondie is a band that I was always aware of, but never really listened to. I’m glad this one landed on the list. It was excellent
Enjoyable, but not blown away as I expected, given I always say I love Blondie and Debbie Harry. Highlight was Heart of Glass, and it's Disco version 3/4
Good
Classic. Some belting favourites
A great album to listen to when you’re trying to catch someone in the act in the projection room above the auditorium.
- I'm going to go 4 as I think the middle of the record is a little weak; still good but not perfect although "Hangin' On The Telephone" and "Heart of Glass" almost get a star by themselves ..... also, Debbie Harry is so fuckin' good ...... -
More New Wave / Pop Rock than Punk Rock. There were seven singles from this album, including "Hanging on the Telephone", "One Way or Another", "Picture This", "Sunday Girl", and "Heart of Glass" - what an album!
Not much to say here. Blondie at their peak. Fantastic melodic and catchy indie rock!
This one was a fun listen from start to finish. Debbie Harry absolutely carries the album, and her voice fits that perfect middle ground between punk edge and disco groove. It’s got attitude, energy, and just enough polish to make everything click. The mix of styles keeps it interesting too. One minute it’s sharp and fast, the next it’s smooth and danceable. You can tell Blondie was firing on all cylinders here. Parallel Lines is just one of those records that makes you want to turn it up and let it play through. Favorite song: One Way or Another
An album I know and love well. Great songs and an excellent look into the future.
Just pure bangers innit
I'm typically not one for New Wave 80's but Blondie hits different. They had an edge a lot of their contemporaries just didn't have. This album is all killer no filler. 8/10
Haven't listened to much Blondie other than a song here or there... turns out the bangers are all from one album!!
Debbie Harry always answers the call.
Really good. I knew some of these songs but hadn't realised they were all by Blondie. It's very catchy, has a fun energy, and some great beats
What I come to appreciate most about "Parallel Lines" is how relentless it is: poptastic tracks one after another.
This album is great, and so is Blondie. I wish I had been around to see them live in this era!
472/1001 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑 Confieso que hoy he BAILADO mientras cocinaba 😀
Love me some Blondie.
Sounds like the poppy 80's with some classic rock sensibilities of the 70's. Even the non-hit songs are very good mixes of rock, punk, synths... Danceable but also something to headbang to.
Good sound that was captivating when it came out and still a lot of fun to listen to
Heart of Glass is my favorite track.
Aww, I liked this. Such a weird little gem. 4/5
I mean yeah this is awesome. Super upbeat and fun! The guitar parts slap, great vocals, and some iconic songs. Actual rating...4.5 Liked Songs: "Hanging On The Telephone" , "One Way Or Another" , "Picture This" , "I Know But I Don't Know" , "11:59" , "Will Anything Happen" , "Sunday Girl" , "Heart Of Glass" , "Im Gonna Love You Too" , "Just Go Away"
It's Blondie 3.75
Loved it! Upbeat and great for the morning. Pure 80s pop, blondie is iconic
Great singing, solid pop songs, big attitude, absolute classic single
Absolutely love this album, it's got so many classic hits on it. Blondie remains unimpeachable as rock icons.
les bouts instrumentaux de cet album sont vraiment cool Hanging On The Telephone: 4/5 One Way Or Another: 4/5 Picture This: 4/5 Fade Away And Radiate: 3/5 Pretty Baby: 3/5 I Know But I Don’t Know: 2/5 pour les paroles, 4/5 pour l’instrumental 11:59: 4/5 Will Anything Happen: 4/5 Sunday Girl: 4/5 Heart Of Glass: 4/5 I’m Gonna Love You Too: 4/5 Just Go Away: 4/5 Once I Had A Love: un peu inférieur à heart of glass 4/5 Bang A Gong: 4/5
Good fun
Blondie is excellent. Added 2 new songs to my favorites list
Classic album! Great songs and good band!
Fucking yeah well good, loads of bangers
Spent the entire album strutting around. Solid end to a solid week - some great songs on this album
No need to overthink this one. Every song is good, some excellent. This is vital new wave/power pop/punk.
Varied, but consistent. Really good.
Good
Full of so many bangers
Great voice from Debbie Harry. really liked this one.
Fun, good pop music. I was surprised I liked this as much as I did. Would listen again
There’s no denying the energy, the hooks, the balls out rocking, and the snarling power of Blondie as front woman. This record is a little light on artistry to rank as a 5, so it’s a solid and respectful 4.
Classico
Len Houmous had such a crush on Debs. He always used to say that Harry & Mitchell were the only 2 women who ‘got away’ 4.2 10/12 Heart Of Glass
This one was fun. I recognized Heart of Glass and One Way or Another, and I liked the other tracks too.
Another fun album! 1001 has been on a roll lately. Many hits but the deep cuts were some of my favorites. My debate is does this rise to 5 or round down to 4. I may need to stew on this one for a bit before deciding.
Original hard rock from the 70s! I love the sound
Late 70s rock. Fun, Debbie Harry is amazing.
This is solid. I've never listened with headphones before. All the new things I didn't pick up on in the past. Straight up bridge from Punk to Modern Rock, which I guess is what New Wave was. But, Blondie did it really, really well.
This is the first time I’ve ever listened to a Blondie album and I loved it!
First time listening beyond the hits off this record. Really, really great and fun. Love the sound. Man, would have been cool as shit to be around that CBGBs punk scene. This record is going on at my next house party.
Apple Music categorizes this as “pop” but the drums on all these tracks say otherwise. Great rocking and rolling radio friendly punk you now hear at the grocery store
Debbie Harry’s vocals are incredible
I only know a few Blondie songs and they all seemed to be on this album. Some brilliant tracks on here. The only thing stopping it from getting all 5 stars is I didn’t like I Know But I Don’t Know. Take that track off and it’s getting full marks. Top Track - Hanging On The Telephone. Absolute Banger
Playful and poppy with punk and new wave roots. I want to be as effortlessly cool and sexy as Debbie Harry in my next life.
Always hated Blondie, especially "One Way or Another", but a full listen to this album helped me really appreciate the genre-mixing that occurs seamlessly throughout this album. Rock, punk, and even disco are all represented very well on various songs throughout the album, which underscores the impressive talent of the singer and band. I don't think I associated Heart of Glass with Blondie, but its a better song than I ever gave it credit for, especially in the context of this eclectic album.
Somehow I thought this would be more disco sounding than it was. A solid new wave rock album!
Classic 80s album, Blondie is cool in my book 🤘
Enjoyed that far more than I thought!
I love Debbie Harry's voice and the way she growls on One Way or Another. This is just a great album. My personal favorite is Heart of Glass.
Really solid album. It starts of strong right from the get go. A ton of catchy tracks on here as well, especially Heart of Glass. It does have a few songs, that didn't catch my attention as well.
Bit of a surprise this one. Never listened to the full album before and all I can say is I understand the hype and the love for this band. But it’s not really cuppa tea but good for party music.
