B.B. King

Outstanding album. Have only ever heard studio stuff by the great man.
Live recording really opens the music up.

Never heard of her before tbh.
But this is a great album.
Loving the vibe and have now listened to some of her other work and it won't be for the last time.

Not for me.
Really dull and uninteresting.

Not as good as I remember.
The 2nd star is purely for Dreaming of You which is still a brilliant song.
Milton Nascimento
2/5
Brian Eno
5/5
Innovative, delightful, eclectic, and marvellous.
Listening to this album is like have musical honey dripped into your ears by a mischievous forest nymph.
How I've not heard this before is criminal, but now that I have, it won't be the last time, that's for sure.
You can clearly hear where many artists over the years have been influenced by this legend of a geezer. And rightly so.

Wasn't sure at first but then I went back, got to Shutdown and That's Not Me and something clicked.
The rest of the album just made sense after that.
And i really really like it.
Urban poetry gliding over some wicked rhythms.
Nice
His other stuff is great too.
I'm a new fan for deffo.

5/5
Soundtrack to a generation
Still remember all of the words to all of the singles
And the album tracks still hold up too
Cover of Born to Run is fantastic
Such a shame we only got two albums from them before internal conflict broke them
But then, something this perfect was always destined to be fragile
Ah, relax
Emerson, Lake & Palmer
4/5
I like it
It's not like songs
It's very "look at us doing weird shit with instruments".
But they're having fun. You can feel it.
I disagree with the notion of it being pretentious. I don't think they're showing off for showing offs sake.
It was the early 70s. There was a lot of drugs around man.
Several tracks on this I could listen to over and over.
It brings me joy in dark places.
I'm glad I found this.
Neil Young
2/5
5/5
The Undertones
4/5
Ah punk with a bit of soul to it
Still good after all this time though a couple of the tracks don't hit as well as they used to.
I'm giving it a 4 just cos of those songs and also because I have always found Feargal's voice to be a bit too shrill at times though he does have a good heart (and these days, that's hard to find).

Add it up, promise, and blister definitely the stand out tracks for me but the whole album is a joy from start to finish as it was when I first heard it in the early 90s
Curtis Mayfield
3/5
I like some of his other songs
This is ok but doesn't make me jiggy like superfly or move on up does.
Deep Purple
5/5
Blackmore, Gillan, Glover, Lord, and Paice.
Yass mate
Although I do prefer the live version of Child in Time from the Made in Japan album where RB and JL trade guitar and Hammond licks.
And it lasts for the full side of an LP. Seriously, check out Made in Japan if you like this.

If I could give an album 6 out of 5 I would.
This and Nick's other work did literally change my outlook on music in the mid 90s and have rarely left my listening lists since then.
Way to Blue in particular has, since then, been one of my all time favourite songs.
Janelle Monáe
4/5
Didn't expect much from this but was very pleasantly surprised
Had seen her on jools holland once and thought she was OK but this is actually a really good album with a fusion of several different genres bouncing around
Cold War and War of the Roses are both standout tracks for me.
Run-D.M.C.

This one threw me and challenged me a bit.
At first I thought it was just pretentious art wank but then, about half way through, I started to appreciate the skill these cats have.
I'm giving a 3 but only cos I feel it might not be their best work.
Imma habe to listen to this more, and their other stuff.
It's growing on me.
This album, and presumably, their others, is not an album to stick on when you're doing the dishes or painting the kitchen.
This demands your undivided attention.
Headphones on, no distractions and just, listen.
I'll be doing that properly with this soon.
Steely Dan
2/5
The Lemonheads
2/5
Never liked this grunge pop lite album at the time
Thought the years may have been kind but nope, still don't like it
To be fair, it's not dated that much but then, shite's always gonna smell like shite.
One extra star cos Mrs robinsons a fun cover at least.
Van Halen
5/5
As debut albums go, there can't be many this accomplished.
Really ahead of it's time, being a precursor to the glam/hair metal of the 80s yet still sounding fresh and fun.
Could listen to this album every day and not get bored with it.

This was a very interesting surprise.
Can tell they've had an influence on many artists.
Just on the first track alone I can hear the influence on Public Service Broadcasting, The Horrors, and David Holmes to name but a few.
Other tracks have clearly had an influence on the early UK punk scene.
Good though that is, I'm giving it 4 out of 5 because I feel it's a collection of ideas rather than a collection of songs.

American GIs in Germany form a band. They dress as monks, replete with tonsure haircuts.
They get a Hammond, a drum kit with no cymbals, a little distorted guitar, and a distorted fucking banjo, then top it off with some mad bastard shouting and wailing all over it.
You couldn't make that shit up.
It probably shouldn't work.
But fuck me if it isn't fucking amazing.
Never heard this before but ill be listening to it a lot in future.

Has a few great moments on it.
Birdland is fantastic.
But it also, weirdly, has some terrible elevator music sections.
Which is just wrong for who these guys are.
