Not interesting to me

Not for me.

I'd love to say that I loved this, but it's left me remarkably un-grippered.

✅Pixies are great, but I don't think this is their best. I'll come back to the band, but probably not this album.

Another pixies album. Give me a break

I think Stormy Weather is a decent song, but the rest does not bring this album above 2 stars or D+.

An average album at best by this usually top-notch group.

I do not love this.

4/10 - I thought this would be more like a bossanova than a rock album I guess. Rock Music was bad and Is She Weird was, well, pretty weird. Overall pretty strange album, but not great

Ikke særlig fedt hørte ikke det hele

Kind of not a fan. But loved some of the guitar rifts

Disappointing. I really liked listening to Surfer Rosa, and was hoping for a similar experience from this. Unfortunately Bossanova seems to be "all filler, no killer" apart from "Velouria" which is a great song. I quite liked "The Happening" for some reason. But overall this is a nonessential album. Not sure why it's on the list. I like the album cover? 1 1/2 stars.

Fine, but nothing I'll come back to.

Boring

Cecilia Ann - cool instrumental. Rock Music - best part of this song it that it is only 1:53s long. Found myself wanting the album to end. 2.5/5

was very meh for me. would not listen again

Not completely horrible.

I’ve often heard of the pixies, but had never listened to them until this came up for me today. Now I know why I never listened to them. Definitely not my thing.

I expected something very different. Not my sound.

One of those "All 30,000 people who bought the Velvet Underground's first album went on to start their own bands" kinda deals, I guess. I didn't find anything overly interesting here, and I actually *like* some of the Pixies stuff. My old college roommate was super into this and I'm just like, "Huh?" Nothing here that I'd want to revisit. Unexpectedly bangerish? Ana.

Ok. Not their best effort.

I didn’t really enjoy this album. Listened on Friday and today is Monday and I honestly don’t really remember anything about it, not sure what else to say.

2/5. I like the pixies, but this is not it.

My ears kept hurting during this. Not necessarily that bad but def not gonna revisit

I made it through but it's not for me. I don't understand the appeal.

Liked many of the tracks. A nice eclectic mix.

Cecilia Ann - Liked was good opener Rock Music - Not a fan. Velouria - Liked, bit more chill rock. Allison - Was OK Is She Weird - Nope didn't like. Ana - Was ok All Over the World - didnt finish *Only got this far - CBF listening to any more... Dig for Fire Down to the Well The Happening Blown Away Hang Wire Stormy Weather Havalina

I struggled with this album. I had a hard time wanting to continue it and never really got into it. I thought Dig For Fire and Down to the Well were the best tracks on the album. I recognize that Pixies were influential for the 90's grunge/alt rock movement but I will be choosing the bands they inspired over them every day of the week. Definitely not the worst album we have gotten but it isn't for me.

A bit grungy, but nothing about it stands out. Being forgettable is almost worse than being bad. Hang wire was my favorite track

I've often heard that nearly all post-90's music stems from Pixies in some way. Not sure if it is a running joke or there is any merit to the claim. Regardless Bossanova is my first time listening to a full Pixies album in unison. While it wasn't bad I wasn't impressed with anything. Nothing notable that lead me to believe why this album was on the list. I'll have to go back to another album to see why they are supposedly one of the most influential artists in music history I guess. 2.3 stars

It was an interesting listen because I've head a couple random pixies songs over the years without really knowing what they're mainstay style was. Let's just say it's not exactly my cup of tea. Not lyricists but you don't have to be to make good music - it's just not my style.

Quite disappointing. I have such a fond memory of Pixies from Where Is My Mind, but I mostly disliked this whole album.

Not a good album from the pixies, especially considering the previous 2. Bit of a slog to get through

Didn’t love this one, and I do like some of the pixies stuff. Just not this album apparently

Not my cup of tea, lots of screamy screams

I was not that familiar with this band , but I am pretty sure I’ve heard a song or 2 before. I found a few songs that got my attention somewhat. Worth a revisit and checking out the earlier albums. 2.5/5 rounded down to a 2.

Niet mijn ding

Much different sound than the one song (where is my mind?) I knew from them before listening to this album. It took me a little bit to get into this one, but I really liked it. Starts out heavy and then slows down towards the end.

This album managed to be both loud and boring.

Mehhhh

Decent indie rock, only liked last track

Punk, but not the punk that amps you up. The punk that makes you want to ponder. Too distorted and not enough energy to pique my interest

Considering that I can definitely hear this band's influence in a lot of the artists that I have listened to over the years, I was not enamored with this album. Standout Track: Is She Weird

Ya know I just dont like pixies. Started decentish but lost me

I think I know one Pixies song. It’s a good song. It was not on this album and that is unfortunate. I mean, there were some good parts and the music was better than the singing. I wanted to like it but there was too much that just grinded for me and a couple parts that made we want to skip or turn it off.

I’m not a huge fan of Pixies and this album didn’t sway me away from that opinion. I’m going low on this album with the expectation for better things to come with Doolittle and Surfer Rosa. 2.5/5

This album was okay, I guess. It was fine as background music, but not particularly exciting otherwise. I think Surfer Rosa is a stronger entry from this same group.

I played this while in the car and I was close to falling asleep. Nothing too catchy here.

Not very impressed, nothing stands out to me on this album. I give it a low 2.

Gear: Meze 109 PRO Mix: manche sagen dazu „authentisch“... Musik: Seit Jahren habe ich ein schlechtes Gewissen, weil ich die Pixies vermeintlich eigentlich mehr lieben sollte, als ich es tue - nämlich nur so lala😔 Wertung: 2-3/5

this does NOT sound like their later music so i was very confused and frankly a little anxious listening to this. down to the well was a good song though

Not my type of music

A bit grating

Meh pretty boring 2.5

Not my style at all :/ Je crois que j'ai trouvé l'ensemble un peu plat, ou quelque chose qui ne m'a pas satisfait au niveau du rythme

Not good

Too grunge for my taste. I read that the lyrics were about interesting topics, but the gravelly tone of the singing meant I couldn't really understand much. This just isn't a style that resonates very well for me.

Generic rocky stuff, didn't care for it really. A bit screamy

I loved Kim Deal when I was in college. That was due to the Breeders and not the Pixies. Song 1. Rock music. No words yet. And, done. Song 2. Also rock music. (ed note: the name of this "song" is rock music). However, I now know why there was no singing in the first song. And that was probably for the best. The screaming on this one was absolutely horrible. Just the worst. Song 3. Again more guitar and drums. So stuff I would typically like. And it has started with normal singing. But I remain skeptical that someone won't just start screeching. Hoping for the best tho. Ok that one wasn't bad. Song 4. Guitar and drums again. And normal singing. Oooh I am guessing the name of the song is Alison (ed note: it is Allison). I'll have to pass this one on to Al. But I doubt she'll like it. But I did. Song 5. It was ok. Just a song. Wasn't necessarily a fan, but I didn't want to be dead. Song 6. This one is a little whispery on the lyrics and less driving than the others. And then I kinda stopped paying attention because I was reading stuff. Nothing terrible like the second song. But nothing that really made me take note until Down to the Well (I asked Google what the name of the song was). It got a little yelly, but not bad. (Ed note: that was song 9). Song 10. Kinda more of the same. Its not terrible. But nothing that was really impressing me. Kim Deal is hot. Songs 11 and 12. I don't think I can get on board with all the changes in the way this fella makes his voice sound. Song 13. I kinda liked this one. Not sure why. But this album has to be done soon I would think. Song 14. Eh. Not terrible but not great. That should probably be my summary. And we're done. Final thoughts. Album was released in 1990. And growing up in the middle of nowhere really meant that I wouldn't have had to access to this album and its potential place in the history of music. I know there were people listening to the Pixies when I went away to college a few years after (1993). But as I mentioned up front, I really didn't know them other than Kim Deal was in it. And no roommates or friends had any albums, so again, wasn't going to catch too much. And they disbanded when I started college when Deal started Breeders. So then nothing from the Pixies when I would have been in a college town and state of mind. So in the end, they don't have any place with me. And it didn't impress me enough for me to go find more. Meh.

Boring

I don’t have a lot to say about this one other than that I didn’t particularly enjoy it. But I’ve heard worse.

Thought I was gunna be a pixies guy…not a pixies guy.

Too much going on for my taste

Not their best effort...

Starts as a kind of sympho metal act, suprising because I just knew the band from a couple of songs. The second track with the screams is just as surprising. The rest of the album sounds more familiar en is typical 90's grungy. According to the year of appearring, I guess The Pixies were frontiers. I really enjoyed the track The Happening!

Nee, helaas.

It's... fine so far. Ana and Velouria are the standouts to me, but nothing else has really caught me at all up through Dig for Fire. Never was big on the Pixies in general and nothing here is really changing that for me. Coming back later I think the first half is better than the second half of the album. Not a huge fan of this overall. I understand the importance of these Pixies albums but they are really not for me.

Sounds like a band who hit their peak and thought it would always be that easy. They were wrong.

I’d love to hear what this band sounds like through a fan’s ears, because I can’t seem to hear what they’re hearing.

Yuck. Not for me.

This is the third album by the Pixies on this list. The other albums were unremarkable. The same is true for this album too. It was not good

Sounds like school kids trying to pick a genre in their garage.

Nothing wrong with it, but I won't relisten 2.5

was vibing w cecelia ann then rock music started... velouria is so good jesus allison was annoying thank god its quick "is she weird, is she white" saul looking for a translucent hag blown away is the next kinda good song, not as good as velouria tho nothing remarkable after

it was fine

Drie is teveel. Het derde album van deze lui. Pfff... Had in elk geval hun debut-album weggelaten.

The more intense rock elements are crisp, exciting, and never obnoxious. The vocals do often veer into obnoxious, from the whispering on Is She Weird to the congested voice on Hangwire. The first 3 tracks are easily the best here.

I get the Pixies are post punk and pre grunge. But I just don’t find pleasure in their music.

Not my thing man. 2/5

Flat and boring. Just did not gel.

not in the mood

Nothing grabbed me but I’ve heard too many good things bout the Pixies, should revisit their catalogue!

I've always felt I should like Pixies more than I do. They did a few bangers, but I find most of their songs boring and forgettable. People rave about them and I want to like them but they just don't do it for me.

ok, bit forgettable

Niet mijn stijl

Not a fan

Look, it's OK, but it doesn't really do it for me; wouldn't be on this list if it wasn't by the Pixies.

I would have been perfectly fine not enduring this album before stepping into eternity. It wasn't grating enough to make me want to leave the room but I'll never want to listen to this again.

Not really very good imo

Not my style of music. Got a couple of songs in and switched to something else. Probably didn’t help that I was listening with my one year old who wanted to listen to the wiggles instead!

Album seems to actually have nothing to do with Bossanova...

okay, alot of songs sound similar

It's efficient, but so is Athletic Greens. I guess the idea was that if you hit a snare drum at the same tempo for long enough, an album will come out. Add on some weak out of tune vocals and you're in the top 1001 apparently.

Bossanova is the third album by American alternative rock band Pixies. It's an alternative rock album that performed well critically and commercially. Although the music sounded more mainstream, this Pixies album remained just enough within the underground to be "cool". It charted decently well but has only been certified gold in France and the UK. I enjoyed the vibes given off by this album with its grungy sound but fun melodies. The Pixies is a wonderful band and this is a great album from them.

“Rock music” is a terrible opener for an album. The rest was fine

Was not feeling this one, got stale pretty quick.

I was happy when it was finally Bossanover.

Hoop herrie, nogal onsamenhangend, paar vette nummers

Three albums in, two "I really don't care about this band" albums in a row. This one started with a couple of solid songs, but halfway in I was fully reminded of why I don't listen to The Pixies.

More metal-influenced than I remember. Not their strongest album, but second half is definitely better. Hasn't aged particularly well. No real bangers, aside from maybe Hang Wire

This may be one of the most influential bands of the 90s, but it doesn't mean I have to enjoy their music.

It felt like pretty standard alternative rock. No real standouts on the album for me, though it wasn't difficult to listen to. Made good background music.

This is the second Pixies album I have gotten for this project. I think the last one was better. This album just doesn't have the standout tracks that some of the others do. This album feels very cohesive, just missing the hooks.

The Pixies have released a couple of game changers but this isnt one of them. Its actually quite forgettable.

I was going to say something but I don’t know where my mind went . Ah well

It's a solid 90s alternative rock album I suppose. I enjoyed some of the instrumentals of the songs itself, but wasn't really vibing with the vocals at all for the majority of the album. Not something I really see myself bothering to go back to honestly. Might just not be my cup of tea.

Eh, didn't grab me in the first few songs. Was too in between indie rock and punk?

This album got the 40 second skip treatment. 40 seconds of each track was more than any normal human being should have to endure. I had great expectations for the album... but bitterly disappointed.

Highlights: "Ana," "Rock Music," "Velouria" As hugely influential as they were, Pixies gave what they had to give with Doolittle. This might have better production, more reverb and modulation gloss, but it's much more meandering and slogging with minimal payoff. The modal wonkiness feels wayward, and the punchy repetitions reliably overstay their welcome -- the back-to-back "Hang Wire" and "Stormy Weather" are especially obnoxious. Whatever tightrope they walked before has been lost here.

2/5 Sounds a bit boring and does not really stand out to me at all. ‘Down the well’ and ‘Digging for fire’ did sound better, however. I would not listen again unfortunately.

Pleasant enough musical base, but it didn't seem to go anywhere. Listening to this album felt like eating a tasty soup that was all broth. I kept looking for the mushrooms (etc) but all I got was more of the broth.

2.5/5 I didn't really enjoy this album much. It felt angsty and a bit annoying if I'm honest. The thing I liked the most was the name of one song, which does not a good album make.

I just don't like the Pixies at all. Or Pixies is it? I gave this a chance but ... "Rock Music" might be the worst song I have ever heard. w t f Once we get by that one - I'll be fair, I don't dislike it as much as their earlier albums - in many ways it's absolutely more accessible (for this band at least). Still - I just don't like the band much and will never get by it; they have a style and I accept why ppl of my generation like them. Sorta. But dammit - most of these are half-baked or half-formed ideas rather than finished tunes; the songwriting is just goddamn lazy and I'm probably retroactively applying it to the decade but so typical of the "whatever" 90s that I lived through. Ugh. Also please: these vocals are a goddamn travesty. ...They were better than Nirvana though. Low bar. 3/10 2 stars

nothing punk

All sounded a bit flat and nondescript.

Broody, didn't have as much variety as some of the other pixies albums this list has provided

Punk rock

Love the first (instrumental) track. Is she weird? Yes. I feel no need to relisten.

I can feel the lack of Kim Deal in this album and find it less deserving to be on this list than previous releases. Maybe they rushed this one a little too much. It's not terrible. I wouldn't reach for it again though like I would with albums like Doolittle.

Despite repeated listenings, this has just not done it for me. Cannot think of one track that has lodged in my head.

Never really got the appeal of the Pixies. They’re fun, but so what?

I can imagine myself playing an air guitar along to the Down to the Well song. The vocal attitude reminds me of Alice Cooper. 2.5/5

Enough of this kind of music. Worst pixies album we have heard so far and I think we heard 3.

Had some interesting stuff going on in the middle but the beginning and end had too many stinkers that dragged down the whole album

Extremely jarring album when you think Pixies are a female rock group….anyways, I felt like i was being yelled out and it made me uncomfortable. Some good rock guitar sound at times though.

Over and over, I keep asking myself the question - why did I think that I loved The Pixies so much. I had their albums years ago, but I probably haven’t listened to one start to finish for a long, long time. I would have sworn blind that I really liked them. However, nothing really stood out for me here. There were a couple of decent enough tracks but nothing that I could say I loved. I recognised ‘Velouria’ and ‘All over the world’ from way back but I’m left feeling very nonplussed. Perhaps they slotted into a particular time of my life. But that time is not now.

Based on other bands I listen to I should love this band. I should know all their songs and their history and have seen them live. But I don’t. And I haven’t. I know the names Black Francis and Kim Deal. I recognize and like a few of their songs but that’s as far as my relationship with the Pixies has gotten. I liked the songs sung by Kim more than the ones by Frank.

Bossanova always sounded like a band doing a pretty good Pixies imitation but lacking the songwriting chops of the actual Pixies. How they have this album and not Surfer Rosa on this list is ridiculous.

Didn't enjoy it that much. I noticed I prefered to do something else, than listen to this

Yeah, ok.

Enjoyed teh first song, not much else

Not a fan of this album and it was tough getting through it.

2 Boring

Good band but I don't like very much.

Some nice songs, but also some terrible songs

Not much too say about this one, just didn't like it all that much :)

I get the vibe, but it’s not for me

Decent beats, nothing clicked for me.

A few positive moments, but not many

Meh. I preferred it when Spotify rolled into the Breeders Cannonball when this album ended.

Decent indy vibes. Pretty boring though

listened to it all the way through while I was working and can't remember any of the songs. That's about it for this one. Nothing stood out to me, nothing was outright skippable, but as I've said, that type of album doesn't need to be on this list.

Good album, not a must hear, not the top of the Pixies discography. Best songs; Cecilia Ann, All Over the World, The Happening

The machine's creators have fell victim to the grinding, crushing gears of what they had once designed. 1990's "Bossanova" is the sound of a now exhausted and highly irritable band watering their sound down so they can chase trends that they were once lightyears ahead of. Pixies would have one last minor -and boy, do I mean minor- hurrah with "Trompe Le Monde" before breaking up, allegedly via Fax message from bandleader/megalomaniac Black Francis (showing that even when the band attempts to 'phone it in' that they are much too interesting to do straight), but "Bossanova" stands as testament to when legitimate innovators lose their spark and aim for something far far less.

A dark album that had songs that were angry or weird.

Best Song: Rock Music. Maybe it is a product of my low expectations coming in, but the visceral, aggressive sound of this song took me my surprise. Worst Song: Blown Away. Not spectacularly worse than the other songs in the album, but just a kid of dull, plodding track. Overall: My opinion of the album generally was reduced by the difference between the song "Rock Music" and all the other tracks. I would have loved an album full of "Rock Music", and knowing that they could produce that style of music, what was on offer felt lukewarm, without that same punch and passion. Overall:

I know they were influential or whatever, but the Pixies just bore me terribly.

Bit disappointing, considering Surfer Rosa... Just a blur in the background. Shannah - 1 Bill - 2 Conor - 2 (1.67/5)

I liked it. I think I need to hear it again though. 2.5 / 5 for now.

No me ha dicho nada

First few tracks of Bossanova are loud and interesting, then it sort of settles down and loses me. Probably doesn't get to a 3 because of it.

thought i'd like this - not so much. expected where is my mind like songs, didn't get it.

Not offensively bad, but definitely none of the catchy Pixies tracks I love from their early albums. Nothing to return to on this really.

Great band, crap album. The best song 'Dig for Fire' on the album holds a small candle to the great classics this band wrote in other albums. Quite a disappointment.

the song "Rock Music" sums it up; it's rock music defined.

2/5 too hard for my taste

Assumed I wouldn't like it, and *really* didn't like the first couple songs. After that the album settles into kind of less catch Nirvana territory. Meh but not the absolute worst.

Börjar rätt starkt men blir sen snabbt rätt trist och trillar in i 'Rock Songs The Album' med några undantag.

First listen. Need to hear this again. 2/5 for now.

I wasn't a fan of the first few tracks, but it picked up after a while. Rating relatively to the rest of this list, not in general.

Good sound .

Not a fan

Too edgy for my liking

Not my cup of tea

These albums are just getting worse and worse

Pretty meh to be honest. Some really bad songs, some decent songs but nothing special overall in my opinion.

It is a rock album that combines hard electric-guitars sound and tenor man's vocals.

Just like me determined! to walk past the bakery welcome in the Lidle..It started off so well

Real tough to judge. I really liked the first instrumental song but almost everything else was somewhat forgettable. It wasn't as much of a drag as that Blue Cheer album and it grew on me a bit, but not really all that exciting. I think I could return to this one Saved: Cecilia Ann, Ana, The Happening

- punk, thank you - like Horkyze Slize but not funny

Solid album, bit more straightforward than some of their other work. Gotta say I love the album artwork. Computer graphics were just starting to become more of a mainstream thing, and this art direction totally defined my youth. From Wargames to Hackers to browsing the magazine section at Barnes and Noble in search of the latest issue of 2600. The early 90s must have been such a wild time to be an adult, seeing a mass migration of life from analog to digital, creating digital work while stuck in an analog episteme. There were so many opportunities through the 90s, 00s, and 10s to shed the shackles of an analog past, yet still we click on a floppy disk icon to save our documents, still arrange the same alphanumeric keys in the same layout on our phones. Clearly our technology advances more rapidly than our understanding of it. I give this album 2 stars; I give my nostalgia 3.

Was ok but not my jam

Bueno, no está mal...

Couldn't get through it, maybe it was just the wrong mood for the day.

Pixies has never really clicked for me. It's fine, just a combination of sounds that isn't *magic* to me.

not my cup of tea.

interesting album, wouldnt listen again but pretty okay

Had some good songs but overall not a huge fan

Just not for me.

Too cool for me.

Very innovative for its time, as it sounds much more modern than its release date implies. However, it does not contain many memorable moments throughout its runtime (to me, at least). The vocals are at times unintelligible however the instrumentals are good throughout. The last two songs contain a significant shift in mood though, to be fair.

nothing really caught the ear, not feeling it

Not a big fan of the Pixies. Not my kind of music. Too abrasive.

This album makes me hate the Pixies

This is not a bossa nova beat.

Honestly, I've never liked the Pixies and struggled to understand what others like about their music. Every time one of their songs starts to get tuneful, some out of place distorted guitar tears up the sound or Black Francis screams something weird. I hadn't heard Bossanova before, but it didn't help.

+suckd

Unfortunately, this was not my type of music.

well, in al honesty i didn’t like this album much because it was two hardcore for me. there were a few slower songs, like my favorite on the album; “havalina” but over all this wasn’t my favorite.

Just no

the bulls**** doesn't get better when it is displayed for the 4th time.

Just Awful

"Velouria" was the only song that really stood out to me on this album. I know they inspired super influential bands, but they do not inspire me. You can definitely tell that the band members did not like each other. Each instrument seems to be its own unique sound and none of the music sounds like a cooperative effort. I'd skip them if they ever popped up in my playlist. 3/10

Every time I listen to them, I can’t help but think, Am I really listening to the same album as you guys? I really don’t want to listen to any of them anymore!

Lamentablemente vacío

Completamente misleading el titulo. Me aburrió. Completamente aburrido, literal. Puro embole.

I was about to comment on how I liked Doolittle and then one year they make this garbage but then I looked up my ratings for Pixies on this site and found out I misremember liking Doolittle and that they always sucked

I'd rather listen to The Breeders.

This album sucks. Grunge? Teenage garage rock? It's just bad. Feels like no effort went into making or playing the songs. Maybe that was the feel at the time of "I just don't care"?

Not great.

I did not like it

Trying too hard. Sounds like a mixed up tribute band to me

Not really for me. Just kinda passed me by

Jesus Christ, the Pixies are not for me.

I’d actively skip all the songs in this album if they came on shuffle

Rock vibes

80's metal not for me

Horrible 2/10 Best song cecillian Ann

Minimal fan

This is the 3rd album by The Pixies that I've listened to, and it's comfortably the worst - the other two got 2 stars, so that's a low bar to begin with. I couldn't even make it to the end of this one, so it's 1 star only.

Gar nicht meins

Nur laut! Reicht mir nicht!

not a fan

alternatieve rock. te vaag, paar aardige nummers

Why are the little pixies so angry? The first track was terrific. The last one was good, too. The middle…

Awful. Well the 5th song was bearable. Only good news is I found a genre of music I hate as much as bad rap and bad country. Cd gets better. First two songs awful

Une tâche à écouter. C’était agressant, vraiment pas mon genre.

Not my thing :)

awful album

Not for me.

Opening track was the only good song. The rest was quite unbearable

It’s ok

Really not a fan of this album. Pixies are hit and miss. Some label them as essential but to me are mediocre.

Two or three songs that are ok from this album. Otherwise, the sound is like a lot of grunge bands. Not my cup of tea.

I hated it

Meh probably not gonna return to this

I gotta be honest, I would have much preferred if this album were actually bossa nova. I hope there is even a single bossa nova album here instead of just more of the same white boy 80s-90s brit pop punk grunge. Because that's what this pixies album was to me - more of that fade-into-the-background spoilt rich white adolescent 90s brit grunge. Doolittle is already on this list and absolutely no more Pixies are permitted on the list.

I don't hate it. I just didn't think any of the songs were very good for me.

This album was the epitome of dogshit and I never want to hear any of the songs from it again. None of it was unique, original, interesting, or just good quality in general. 0/5 terrible album. Actually gonna kms.

Like an assault on my eardrums. Truly awful.

Super fucking garbage

Some guitar. Some quiet/LOUD dynamics. Some screaming. Of its time, and influential I suppose just not for me.

Once again, what is it about the Pixies? Mostly midtempo songs, basslines in eight notes, the melody sticking to the chord progression, the singing turning into aggressive shouting. Predictable and boring. Truely dreadful.

It’s not that good 1001 album worthy - no - 61/113

Kauheaa sontaa

Not for me

I'm actually good, thanks

Alt rock. Not my thing. Thanks. Bye.

Pretty basic background music.

Maybe it's my expectations speaking for me, but for an album with that name, I expected more, much more. The worst problem with "Bossanova" is not that it's the generic of the generic of the generic of the alt rock of its time, but the simple fact that its songs are completely forgettable. It pains me to say this because the album has a good production, but unfortunately that doesn't support the fact that 10 seconds later I had already forgotten what I heard. Regrettable.

I get the album with the fight club song is on here and probably an early noise album of there so the creator can pretend he knew them before they were cool, but this is too much in the weeds for me. I'm done.

Did not like

I also thought I liked the Pixies, but I really felt this album was best left to my 90s self. My 2020s self has moved on from what now seems like noise music gone to hell in the hands of musician wannabes.

a couple decent songs…some were way not my taste wouldn’t listen again though

Was shit

Not what I was expecting, given the name. The first song had promise. After that, it was just shouting. Not for me.

More screaming... Another album that I won't finish listening to.

Grunge seems to feel like scratching a blackboard for me.

I’m gonna be a hater. Ik that’s predictable but, to me this sounds like an album that’s pretending to be a good album. Idk what is it but the tone/style of guitar I find ✨horrible✨ Obvs I don’t like this style of music but I have was willing to look past it, but it wasn’t enough for me :(

HATE THIS ALBUM. Honestly. Such a pain to get through. Don't like.

Second album of the Pixies ... Bossanova was worse than Doolittle ... Stupid lyrics and mic screaming. Waste of time. 1/5

Early days grunge Not great but led the way

Not for me would be 0 star if I could

Unique sound. Rock, punk, metal?

I'd like to like it. A lot of bands i like were inspired by them. And i don't even a little.

I want to like it, but I just can't like it. I had to force myself to listen, and the only thing going for me, is is was less than 45m long. *whew* Not for me.

Not my favourite

Überhaupt nicht meine Stilrichtung.

Not my vibe

stop shouting into my ears

Not for me

Not my cup of tea - screechy vocals

Not for me

Not my style of music. Beginning of the album is hard to get into. The first song is the best for me. Unlucky

Pretty typical and ordinary for the time period (90s) - perhaps choosing 1001 albums was a stretch too far and landed into "what we know of", rather than "what is actually good".

Not my thing
