Popular Reviews

Youth And Young Manhood by Kings of Leon

I've never really been the biggest fan of Kings of Leon, this album definitely backs this statement up. I felt each track sounded very similar to the last, making my listening experience rather boring. Not to mention, I cannot stand the frontman's vocals; it sounds as if he's screaming with a bunch of marbles in his mouth. Long story, short, this album is just a bunch of distorted noise.

Heartbreaker by Ryan Adams

I've read a lot of reviews that have given Adams a lower rating based off all the sexual harassment allegations against him; I had look this up myself, as I was unaware, and just curious in general. Although I don't condone this type of behavior, I'm not going to factor this into my review, which is still low regardless. I honestly felt like this album was just "meh," purely lazy songwriting on Adam's part, not to mention, boring melodies.

Appetite For Destruction by Guns N' Roses

First one star rating. "Welcome to the Jungle" is okay, but not even that's a redeeming quality to save it from a low score. The rest of the album just sounds really generic, and many of the tracks are so overplayed on the radio that I just get sick of them.

Scum by Napalm Death

Mar 01 2023

The album was okay, this not usually a genre I listen to, but it has some good tracks; besides Hey Ya! I do like the infusion of 70s funk and rock mixed with hip-hop.

Mar 20 2023
American Pie by Don McLean
Mar 23 2023

I didn't listen the album in its entirety. Sort of lost interest in it about halfway through.

Rain Dogs by Tom Waits
Mar 27 2023

In it's entirety, it's not a bad album. Tracks such as "Time" and "9th and Hennepin" were good; however, I've felt that Tom Wait's voice is definitely an acquired taste. I would probably revisit a few tracks from this album on my own.

Mr. Tambourine Man by The Byrds
Mar 30 2023

Good album, primarily a lot of Bob Dylan covers. I can see myself returning to a few of these tracks.

Debut by Björk
Apr 03 2023
Savane by Ali Farka Touré
Apr 07 2023

I enjoyed this album. There was still that bluesy sound, but each song was crafted in a way that is unique.

Surfer Rosa by Pixies
Apr 10 2023

This was okay, maybe two or three were worth listening to a second time. However did not know that the track, Cactus, was originally by The Pixies. I was first introduced to that song on David Bowie's album, Heathen.

Talking Heads 77 by Talking Heads
Apr 11 2023

Not bad. Prior to listening, I was only familiar with the track: "Psycho Killer;" I think after listening, there's a couple that are worth revisiting.

Hot Fuss by The Killers
Apr 12 2023

Meh, I found this album to be rather bland.

Aja by Steely Dan
Apr 18 2023
The Rise & Fall by Madness
Apr 20 2023

Despite the track, 'Our House,' the album was okay.

Appetite For Destruction by Guns N' Roses
Apr 21 2023

First one star rating. "Welcome to the Jungle" is okay, but not even that's a redeeming quality to save it from a low score. The rest of the album just sounds really generic, and many of the tracks are so overplayed on the radio that I just get sick of them.

The Slim Shady LP by Eminem
May 04 2023

Not usually my style of music. Thought it was interesting, although crude.

May 09 2023

Stopped listening after track 4. Not my taste; music seems like it's on one continuous loop. Overall rather annoying, will not finish the album.

2112 by Rush
May 15 2023
Rocks by Aerosmith
May 16 2023

I couldn't get into this album. It seemed like each track sounded the same as the previous. Not to mention, Aerosmith is not one of my favorites, will not be actively seeking this out again.

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac
May 19 2023
May 31 2023

This was okay, I think a couple of the stronger tracks are "Viva Las Vegas," which a cover (but another, grittier take). And then "California Über Alles". The rest just sort of fell flat for me.

Bossanova by Pixies
Jun 06 2023

I thought this was better than Surfer Rosa, but I just can't get into The Pixies as a band.

Casanova by The Divine Comedy
Jun 21 2023

This album was okay. When about halfway through, I was certain this was going to be a two star album. The initial concept changed my mind.

Oxygène by Jean-Michel Jarre
Jun 22 2023
Slippery When Wet by Bon Jovi
Jun 28 2023

Not bad, some of the songs are rather cheesy.

Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park
Jul 04 2023

I thought this album was rather underwhelming, at least when compared with Linkin Park's second album, Meteora. Won't be returning to this in the future.

Hejira by Joni Mitchell

Imagine by John Lennon
Oct 03 2023
Boston by Boston
Oct 20 2023

The album, as a whole, was alright; though I don't see myself returning to this on a regular basis. Giving this three stars, as I see it unfair for a two star rating.

Raw Like Sushi by Neneh Cherry
Dec 07 2023

I'm not usually the biggest fan of hip-hop, but this was a great album. Tracks such as "Manchild" and "The Next Generation" were a couple that stood out for me.

Fly Or Die by N.E.R.D
Jan 19 2024

I'm giving this two stars, instead of one, for the purpose that while I think this is a cringe-worthy album (lyrics especially), it certainly does have its audience. That audience being teenage boys between the ages of thirteen and fifteen; I am not among that demographic.

I think there's a couple good tracks off this album, such as She-Bop and Time After Time. Her vocals on rest of the list were just annoying.

Funeral by Arcade Fire

Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet
May 28 2024
Juju by Siouxsie And The Banshees
May 31 2024

Maybe 10-15 years ago I would have felt differently about this album; as I initially bought the CD around that time. But I think this doesn't deserve more than two stars as I listen to it again in my 30s. Maybe it's because my tastes have changed throughout the years.

Murmur by R.E.M.
Jun 21 2024
1989 by Taylor Swift
Jul 02 2024

Not bad, but also not great. So far nothing on this album has given me a "wow" factor. The track, "Style," is solid though; the opening track, "Welcome To New York," however, seems to be poorly written. It made my facial expression cringe upon listening.

Smash by The Offspring
Jul 03 2024
Horses by Patti Smith
Jul 19 2024
Bookends by Simon & Garfunkel
Jul 29 2024
Highway to Hell by AC/DC
Jul 30 2024

The guitar playing is great, not a fan of the vocal screeching. The songwriting is mediocre at best.

Green by R.E.M.
Sep 02 2024
Kid A by Radiohead
Sep 03 2024
Back In Black by AC/DC
Sep 04 2024

Again, the guitar melodies are a lot better than the vocals. As a whole, AC/DC is a band that I've never gotten into, despite their musical contributions to the rock community. The songwriting is just sort mediocre, and the vocals are annoying.

Sep 10 2024
Mott by Mott The Hoople
Sep 20 2024
Henry's Dream by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Sep 25 2024

Again, rather underwhelming for me. Nick Cave has generally been one of those artists where they have two or three great songs, but the rest just fall flat.

Closer by Joy Division
Oct 04 2024
Oct 21 2024

Not my style of music. The guitar riffs and drums, however, were good; which is what's preventing me from giving this album a one star.

Scum by Napalm Death

Trio by Dolly Parton
Nov 12 2024
Gold by Ryan Adams
Nov 14 2024

Couldn't get through the whole album, as it was very lackluster. Nothing on this album provided interest enough to keep listening.

Suzanne Vega by Suzanne Vega
Nov 15 2024

Overall, the album was okay. There were a few beautifully written tracks that stood out, such as "The Queen and The Soldier," "Freeze Tag," and "Straight Lines." The rest didn't evoke much feeling from me. Most likely won't put this album in my regular rotation.

Bug by Dinosaur Jr.
Nov 27 2024
Dec 04 2024

I feel like I have already had this album generated earlier; not that it has any effect on my rating. As far as The Byrd's go, Sweetheart Of The Rodeo is not my favorite album of theirs. The country-twang style is sort of blah; each track was similar to one another.

Heartbreaker by Ryan Adams
Dec 16 2024

I've read a lot of reviews that have given Adams a lower rating based off all the sexual harassment allegations against him; I had look this up myself, as I was unaware, and just curious in general. Although I don't condone this type of behavior, I'm not going to factor this into my review, which is still low regardless. I honestly felt like this album was just "meh," purely lazy songwriting on Adam's part, not to mention, boring melodies.

Faith by George Michael

Calenture by The Triffids
Jan 03 2025

Before I listened to this album, I saw several one star reviews (which, I don't understand); I mean it's all opinion, and that's fine. However, personally I don't feel like this album is so terrible that it warrants a one star, at least I would give it three stars. I do like the blend of folk with the alternative 80s synth, it's rather unique. What keeps me from giving it any more than three stars is that each song sounds similar to one another; in a sense, you could say it lacks variety.

Third by Portishead
Jan 27 2025
Veckatimest by Grizzly Bear
Feb 05 2025

Tracks: "Fine For Now" and "About Face" have a nice, chill seventies vibe. The rest of the album wasn't bad, but wasn't enough to warrant a five star rating.

Shalimar by Rahul Dev Burman

Great album, the only preventing me from giving this a full five stars is that I'm not the biggest fan of "Smells Like Teen Spirit." I've heard this track being played one too many times on the air, that I can't bear to hear this anymore.

Giving this two stars, as there are a couple tracks that are decent such as "My Girls" and "Summertime Clothes." The rest infuse together to create a distorted representation of ambience, not smooth relaxing kind, but one that creates a sense of anxiousness.

Tom Waits is an acquired taste. I honestly can't get past his vocals. In addition, the production style wasn't pleasing to my ears. Giving this album two stars instead of one, as I think he is a good song writer. My qualms are with vocals and technical stuff.
