Another great gone too soon. Gorgeous album.
nice
Obviously so dark undertones to the music but it’s hard not to vibe along to this. Marley and the Wailers are simply good at what they do, they are damn good at reggae. Everything, the smooth vocals, sharp guitars, snappy drums, perfectly placed backing vocals, everything just ties together really well. Great stuff 4 stars
Politically and socially charged songs done right, mixed with some gorgeous love songs. Strong clean production, earth shattering bass. This is skanking! Another strong 4 out of 5.

Favourite tracks: concrete jungle; slave driver; 400 years; stop that train; baby we've got a date; stir it up
Very fine! Endless chill! Made me wonder what weed tastes like, Jah bless us!
Fine, mellow album, very early 70s vibe. Concrete Jungle and Stir It Up of course, but other good tracks 400 Years and No More Trouble. Very much of its time, with quite a lot of guitar and keyboard noodling
Very cool. So easy to listen to.
Mmmm, it's really nice hearing some Bob Marley that hasn't been played to death. "Exodus" and the various "Best of" compilations are absolutely ubiquitous. Enjoyed the funk sounds on this one. Fave track - "No More Trouble" from the tracks I don't think I've ever heard before, "Baby We've Got a Date (Rock It Baby)" from the ones I was at least partially familiar with!
Reggae classic, and the first Marley album I've listened to, and has a message that's still relevant, but kinda falls off on the second half. 3.5 BT - Concrete Jungle - Stop That Train - Midnight Ravers
not his best
concrete jungle
4/5
I like reggae
Fantastic album, the opener Concrete Jungle was the standout but it was still pretty consistent throughout
I think this may be my favourite Bob Marley & The Wailers album yet. Moody and political and doesn’t sound samey! Whereas usually I can only tolerate reggae in bite-sized doses I listened to this straight off and enjoyed the vibe.
I have heard about Bob Marley and the Wailers. They are the high point apparently of Reggae. I do not own this album so I listened on Spotify. Songs are written by Bob Marley or Peter Tosh. “Stir it up” is a highlight. The Spotify version starts with “The Jamaican” version of the songs in a different order. The originals seem a little less crisp. Loved We don’t need no more trouble. I hear the band War in the funkiness.
This is a difficult one to tie down to a specific rating. Based on the Marley stuff that I know, this can't be his best work, but it is very decent. No More Trouble, Kinky Reggae are standouts. I love the guitar work, vocals and the harmonies are very good. I think this album may need to sit with me longer, initial response is a high THREE, but it is pushing a FOUR by third listen through.
What can I say. It's Bob Marley and it's great.
A very chill album that I could see myself coming back to again for the vibes, as a whole album I liked it and will put the whole album into the reggae playlist.
Love
Easy listening
I have never heard an entire Bob Marley and the Wailers album and this is about what I expected. Goes to show there were other songs not on "Legend" that are really good. Marley was very political overall, which is highlighted on this album and the Wailers are tight in their sound. I haven't heard too many other reggae albums, but I would recommend this album.
I love reggae
Surprised to like this
i like tosh better than marley but either way it’s pretty hard to fuck with this record
One of the things I appreciate about this album is its versatility. It is wonderful background music. Additionally, close listening yields thoughtful lyrics. A great listen.
This was better than expected - I struggle a bit with reggae sometimes in that it's too easy to make it all sound the same, but this was really good. Great shifting between the personal and political in subject matter, beautifully put together (backing vocal are superb throughout), and some nice changes of pace. Lacks a standout track to get it to a 5, but definitely merits a 4.
The roots without all of the over production
Very good album. I only knew one song but really liked most of what I didn't know. Everyone in the world has Legend, but this is a great intro to the Wailers and not just Bob Marley.
Excited to finally hear Bob Marley thought i how more of his albums are in this list. Some of the songs are very political while others are sweet love songs, which reflects his unique career well. It’s just outside of a 5 for me because I know he has others which deserve that score. Is this version of Stir it Up different from what’s on Legend? Sounds like it.
An excellent reggae drive through Maine.
Another great Bob Marley album with a great lineup. It isn't packed with hits like some of the later releases we've received, but the songs are still catchy - I especially like Concrete Jungle and No More Trouble. Based on my memory of what I was listening to at that time, 1973 seemed early in the reggae movement, but then I dug up the Wailers original '68 version of "Stir it Up", so I guess this wasn't that early after all. There's a Motown/Soul influence and it's easy to see how Marley could have 40+ hit singles in the UK.
Loving this album. Very chill, with great lyrics and beat
There’s no question why Bob Marley is the reigning king and patron saint of reggae. The genre isn’t always what I’m in the mood for but there’s no denying this is the work of a master at his craft.
I put this album on repeat and had an incredible 8 hours of sleep - This is in no way an insult, but a testament to the consistency of this album. I woke up wanting to listen to it again.
nice album, never heard it before
what can you say, its Bob Marley
I don't have much of a knowledge of reggae to grade this against, but the vocals are soulful, the grooves loose and engaging, and the lyrics often incisive (when they're not too horny). Probably not gonna dip in frequently but I'd always be happy to hear it. Strong three and a half. Fave track: No More Trouble
Another solid Bob Marley entry. I found Exodus slightly more engaging, but I'm feeling this still deserves 4 stars as well.
It is nice to hear Bob Marley songs other than the ones on ‘Legend’. Some really sweet tracks on this, great summer vibes
muss man in the mood sein, aber eig ganz gut
I'm not normally a fan of deluxe editions, but the one of this album is essential. You can hear the original Jamaican mix, and the Island Records rockier remix version. Both are great, and you can hear Marley's songwriting progressing at light speed. A four, the last Wailers album before he was a superstar.
At first it seemed mostly pretty repetitive, but as I listened more I realized that was only surface level. Several elements remain fairly consistent in many songs, but that really isn't any more repetitive than most pop-punk songs utilizing power chords and fast drums. My favorite thing about him is his voice. He conveys pain in a way that few can, and does it with a mellowness that is unmatched by most blues and rock artists who accomplish the same feat. The music, along with Marley's voice is quite haunting. Almost trancelike at times. I assumed all guitar would be the typical muted, simple reggae guitar, but a lot of it was actually quite creative. I really appreciated the use of organ, piano, and clavinet. All in all, I didn't like it that much at the beginning, but it grew on me a lot by the end. I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars, but I'm going with 4 because of the huge influence he had on so many other artists, and because I'm pretty sure I will enjoy the album much more on the second listen.
There's something about the repetition of Reggae that I've always had a hard time getting on board with. The first 2 songs on this album are very well mixed, but it is interesting how deep and loud the bass is. It's not overwhelming but it is loud. There are certainly a lot of early hip-hop influences I hear. The 3rd song kicks ass. This would be a great song to learn on bass, very technical. Marley's vocal performance on the 4th song is great. The mixing is a bit more Inconsistent, especially noticed it in the guitars and bass. It fills the soundscape well, but my ears have a hard time deciding which guitar they wanted to listen to. Is Reggae meant to be session music? I don't know much about Reggae to be honest, but a lot of the mixes on this album feel like they could carry on forever. None of these songs truly feel like they end, as they bleed into one another. It may be because every song starts and ends similarly: a hand drum fill into an introduction of the rhythm section, and a slow volume fade into silence to wrap it up. Midnight Ravers has some interesting lead vocal saturation on Marley that compliments his voice so well, while allowing it to punch through the mix at you.
Great stuff.
It's just really nice.
Really enjoyed it
Going over 500 albums without any Bob Marley and the Wailers, it's been interesting now to get three of their albums in a relatively short amount of time. I can understand how this was a breakthrough sort of album. I enjoyed it, even if I do get a little weary of the reggae beat after a time.
Turns out that I kind of dig the reggae music…at least with Bob Marley at the helm.
I'm really appreciating the opportunity to hear more of Bob Marley. There is some good variety here, both in lyrical themes, and musically --- there's a lot of that typical reggae beat but also a good bit of not that. I was especially taken with the first four tracks: Concrete Jungle, Slave Driver, 400 Years, and Stop that Train.
Lovely reggae
This is the second Bob Marley & The Wailers album I've gotten on this list (the first being Natty Dread, which was actually my first album here), and I enjoyed Catch A Fire more. The instrumentation was great throughout the album; the bass lines really stood out to me, and I always like the clavinet use in reggae too. I've heard "Stir It Up" before, but I didn't realize how great the guitar solo in it is until now. The real star on this album is they lyrics; I love how the words express so much pain and anger, but the vocals and instrumentation are soft and peaceful. I'm not sure what message Bob Marley was trying to convey with that contrast in tone between the two, but to me, I felt like it made me more empathetic with the issues that were being sung about. I'm not a very big reggae fan, but I thought this album was great, and it's a stark contrast to the typical music from the seventies that I tend to gravitate towards. bu
Catch a Fire is a revolutionary album that solidified Bob Marley's position as a cultural icon and the most important reggae artist of all time. The album features a unique blend of reggae, rock, and soul, with socially conscious lyrics that reflect Marley's experiences growing up in poverty in Jamaica. The production on Catch a Fire is great, with the Wailers' tight rhythms and Marley's soaring vocals complemented by the innovative use of studio effects and instrumentation. The album was produced by Chris Blackwell, who was instrumental in bringing reggae to an international audience. Catch a Fire is a classic album that showcases Bob Marley and the Wailers at the peak of their powers with its themes of social justice and spiritual upliftment.
It was a good listen. I really liked some of the jam sessions, solos, and Bob Marley because of the honeymoon. Would listen again if you're in a vibing mood.
4 / 5 stars
One of the things I like about the 1001 albums is that it forces me to explore artists where all I know is their greatest hits. I wasn't a huge Bob Marley fan, but I'd never heard this record. It's lovely, varied stuff. Concrete Jungle best song.
Pretty chill. Generelly liked the Jamaican versions more, I think. Listened to the Deluxe Version on Spotify. + High Tide Or Low Tide + 400 Years + Baby We've Got A Date + Kinky Reggae
It's very good ... but not quite great. There are better reggae albums, including some by this band (if you consider Bob Marley and The Wailers a continuation of the Wailers, which, I think, is a stretch, since you have only one of the three core, founding members.)
Good Vibes!
smooth vibes
Enjoyable and relaxing
Bob Marley is always a welcomed vibe.
Bob Marley is a cultural icon and a fabulous musician. Thanks to this list, I have unlocked a heightened interest in reggae and music from around the world. Love it.
LP
new genre of music for me, enjoyed a lot and would listen to again
These guys are great, such a vibe to this even on a snowy day in Yorkshire. Looks like this is kind of the Break Through album, I’ll save my 5 stars for some of their later work which are more jammed full of recognisable hits.
This is a great album, it's nice to sit and relax to
Always classic.
Not the best album for a cold day in North Wales. Reckon it sounds a million times better on a warm sunny beach with a cold beer.
pretty good rasta album!
Quite liked this, added
Pretty chill, easy listening.
Solid listen although monotonous (as expected of reggae).
Enjoyable and relaxing. Liked the bass lines.

Skanking
This album is pure science fiction. Music, like no machine that will ever be created, has the ability to serve as a time machine that transports you to a very specific period of your life. I hopped on this album, pushed the triangular shaped go button and um..ummm...wheeewww was transported back to my college apartment.
Bob is great.
Rating: 8/10 Best songs: Concrete jungle, 400 years
8/10
Hard not to like this. Marley tapped into a musical lifestyle and it comes across effortlessly. While the songs don't deviate too much from the reggae beat, the lyrics are optimistic and the vibe is achieved from start to finish. Marley's voice is soulful and passionate, and the musicianship of The Wailers is impeccable.

Great album
Having overplayed Bob Marley a lot in my youth, I thought I wouldnt really get on with this. Turns out that despite me being a ‘big Bob Marley’ fan when I was a teenager, I’d never listened to this and I’d only heard a few tracks (turns out listening on repeat to Legend and Exodus is only a fraction of his work). Really liked this though and it’s made all the better for not being expertly produced like some of his bigger records. Really adds to it and brings out the other instruments more rather than the typical wahwah/drum beat combo which a lot of reggae borrows. Feels a lot more of a band playing than other records, even if they are purposely more minimal. Lyrically, I dont think you can beat Bob Marley for telling his truth and baring all. I’m also a sucker for anyone sticking it to ‘the man’. Here’s a little fact I found out recently, remember the kids show Arthur on CBBC? The theme song was sang by Bob Marley’s son, Ziggy Marley. I still know most of the words.
Hard not to like Bob Marley isn't it? Probably never actually listened to a Bob Marley album that wasn't a greatest hits...... I thought I would enjoy this more than I did. It was good but it's all fairly samey and very sparse lyrically, often just a few lyrics repeated throughout songs.... Perhaps that's the beauty of it! I swear the same baseline was used in about 4 songs I still enjoyed it though. Stir it up and high tide or low tide were the best.
This is a good Wailers album. I've always liked Bob Marley's music but honestly don't have a lot of exposure outside of a couple of albums, one of which being the Legend compilation. It was cool getting to listen to this one straight through and hear some deeper cuts. I plan to do this more with the Wailers other albums. Standout Tracks: Concrete Jungle, Stop That Train, Baby We've Got a Date (Rock It Baby), Stir It Up, High Tide or Low Tide.
Great opening track. The bass rolls in and just sends me into intended vibes. This seems like quintessential reggae.
Pretty good stuff, although a lot of songs sounded very similar to me.
Reggae groove, efficient. I liked it a lot.
Can't really be critical of reggae album, but despite being long it felt nice to hear. What you would expect from a Marley album... I was not transcended so I will not give 5... But definitely a I've many albums. Solid 4
An easy-going listen with no weak tracks, very cool and consistently great. The perfect way to warm up on a snowy cold day in December!
Rootzy
I grew up with people playing Reggae out of the open windows in Summer and it always put me in a chill mood. This hasn't got all the hits which is good since you get to hear the album fillers.
Not the best Marley I've heard but it's Marley and it's great all the way through.
Bob Marley and the Wailers are as always mellow but with thought provocative lyrics. I didn't like this one as much as Natty Dread
A really good display on how great a musician Marley was. contains almost none of the well known songs but so enjoyable all the way.
Smooth, groovy reggae vibes from the master
Probably a 4.5 tbh. Rounded down as per protocol, but there weren't really any bad songs here. Those reggae grooves are super nice when you're in the mood.
Easy listening for this classic reggae mix that tops many lists of Marley and the Wailers best. Not enough of an afficianado to judge comparatively but I did like this.
This was a good album, with very nice vibes complemented by the beautiful mellowed voice of Marley. The additional layer of social commentary just makes it more than just an easy listen.
Nice and anjoyable
This was a fun one. Makes me want to be on a beach
Right album for the day. Sometimes a little laid back is best.
the effort to create an album this good despite the fact that all the songs sounds more or less the same is truly incredible.
Great reggae
Was going to go with a 3, but I didn’t skip any songs. Although the songs all blended together and weren’t super discernible from each other, I didn’t skip one. I was jammin’, MON.
I felt the groove mon.
kinky reggae
I liked this, very chilled out.
Not something I'd usually put on, but I enjoyed it a bunch. Cosy and relaxing.
Good vibes but entirely for me
Album is funky and smooth and one of the best chill reggae listens. The first half of the album is very strong with rhythms and lyrics to match. Second half does not live up to the first half but still really great. Also this is a tatse of what was to come with a more instrepctive album later (exodus) my personal favorite. Favorite tracks are from stir it up, high tide or low tide, and stop that train.
Amazing album from one of the best. Really makes you feel like you are off in the heat of the islands even though the cool fall weather is starting to set in now.
Skroz solidno
Pleasant and easy listening from start to finish. Pretty emotional.
So chill. I should listen to this more often.
Chilling vibes, enjoyed it more than expected
liked! listen to more reggae
Great album. Beautifully chilled.
Classic for sure. I heard this was the first one Chris Blackwell produced and it sounds like a polished record versus the Desmond Dekker sounding records. Baby We Got a Date, Stir it Up, other great songs. Jamaican version has High Tide and Low Tide which I just heard in the last 4 or 5 years, which is also a good tune.
Nice album with nice tunes, relaxing and old school
Ég hef ekki haft mikið álit á reggae eftir að Lúlli vinur spilaði gat á Bob-Marley Legend í 10. bekk. Það kom mér því mjög ánægjuleg á óvart að mér fannst þessi plata barasta virkilega skemmtileg. Skal alveg hlusta aftur.
Oh cool Bob Marley… The album opens with concrete jungle it’s a really solid tune to open up the album and I love the backing vocals on this. Slave driver is a great show of Marley’s lyrical talents. I like how the janky bass line at the star of 400 years forms into a fully fledged song and currently it’s the best song on here. I really like the verses to stop that train, shame the songs 90% chorus. I recognise the rhythm to baby we’ve got a date but I don’t know if it’s from a different song. Stir it up is a gooden I really like the trippy sound to this one! Kinky Regge is a nice sounding song but I can’t note anything particular here. The penultimate track no more trouble is slower and glummer than the others/ cool song! The album’s closer midnight ravers is of the same vein as the last song, I don’t hate it but it’s not one of my favourites. Side 1 is great side 2 is slightly unbalanced 3.5/5 rounding up to a 4.
I wasn't expecting to like this as much as I did. Pretty solid stuff!
Bob Marley created a solid vibe with this album. Reggae isn’t my usual style of music but there were some solid songs on this album. Favorites were Stop that train and Stir it up
7/10. Good album overall, but nothing really stood out from it
I could type the same thing I did for the previous two Marley albums we got. Instead, I’ll take this time to mention that listening to this made me think about the whitewashing that American culture did to revolutionaries like MLK and Marley. I think there’s a better word for it but each of them had ideas past “I have a dream” or “one love”. You can see that with songs like Concrete Jungle and Slave Driver. But at this point, Bob Marley has been reduced to his most palatable form for white Americans to consume - almost like a minstrel show. For some reason I am still disappointed every time I recognize this phenomenon despite how common it is. I guess I still have hope. 7/10
all day all night - its giving that one dance scene from death on the nile. kinda bluesy. slow but nice beat. 7.5/10 baby we've got a date ( rock it baby ) - like the instruments. singing is slow. a lot of high choruses. 7.5/10 slave driver - similar beat to rock it baby. memorial for black slave history so not very cheery. 6.5/10 midnight ravers - similar beat. kinda chill. 6.5/10 kinky reggae - similar beat. bit repetitive. nothing special. 6/10 concrete jungle - bit faster. remains the same throughout. missing hype. 6/10 high tide or low tide - nicer, more smooth tune. soft singing. could be better. 6.5/10 stir it up - slow beat. repetitive. 6/10 no more trouble - kinda goes up and down on the volume and the speed. missing something. 6/10 400 years - slow. kinda boring. cool lyrics. 6/10 stop that train - very similar to 400 years. 6/10
dope i like it
Great album
I may not be too familiar with reggae, but I can see why this is a classic. Favorites: "Stir It Up", "Kinky Reggae", "No More Trouble"
Bob is always vibey let’s be honest, so this was obvi a goodie. Really loved 400 years, first few songs really pull you in and then last few songs wrap it up well.
Listened before? N I really loved this album. Perfect vibe for the day and really mellow and relaxing. Thanks, Bob! Added to Library? N Songs added to Playlist: Stir it Up
Legend did a lot of whitewashing of Bob Marley's best stuff. To boil this album down to Stir It Up is an embarrassment really, when the rest of it is better, but also rooted in colonial injustice - it's kind of annoying to think most people think Marley is the happy Summer reggae guy who liked a spliff. This album is great, so much more spark and energy than Natty Dread, and it fairly zipp(o)ed along.
Considering this is my first Bob Marley album I've ever heard, this is a pretty good introduction. I'd say "Midnight Ravers" and "Concrete Jungle" were some of my fave tracks from this.
Rockin'
I have only heard Bob Marleys hits and I hadn’t heard a full album until this one. The entire album is filled with great lyrics about love and racism (especially the track “Slave Driver”) I overall really enjoyed this record with my favorite tracks being “Slave Driver, Concrete Jungle, and Stop that Train”
Better than expected - in my head Bob Marley is mad cheesy
Some serious vibes on this record. Loved it front to back. Give it a listen
Is good, lot of double songs on the album though
When I rotated through this before, I gave it a 4 but had nothing to say. Dunno where that came from! There's a lot to love here, and a lot of variety. Tracks 5-6-7-8 are a tour de force.
I didn’t really listen to this song super in depth since I was in the process of beating elden ring while I had it on in the background but it was definitely bobs most political album and it’s was pretty good
Enjoyable. Chill.
Make sure you listen to the one under the wailers, not bob Marley 4
Score 4* for the Jamaican version of it, before the additions
I like his other albums more, but I mean, come on, basically everything he recorded is legendary.
All around great album. Can't give it any less than a 4 because Stir It Up is still a BOP.
Great stuff.
Super chill
Liked it! Don't listen to much reggae beyond Bob Marley and Burning Spear but what I've heard I like
Bob Marley and The Wailers’ “Catch a Fire” might be shorter on the hits, but it is perhaps a more solid and even reggae record than “Exodus.” “Stir It Up” is the most successful of these songs, but it was “Concrete Jungle” that stood out the most.
Food
Caught flame
Enjoyable and cool. I was pretty into nearly every track, though maybe i'm missing the message on Kinky Reggae. Stir it up is stellar and the rest hold together well. Good lyrics and vibe.
One of my favourite Bob Marley and the Wailers albums (that being said though, he has a lot of really good, very similar albums). This is reggae! (Although a lot of reggae sound very similar as it is quite well defined that you need the ska guitar for instance). Favourite track is Concrete Jungle followed by Slavedriver. Another thing that makes reggae interesting is the heavy themes of exodus to a promised land, fitting the oppressive government, and racism.
Very chilled vibe Catch A Fire brings to the table. I think everyone has heard of Bob Marley and apart from Stir It Up, doesn't have any hits or songs on the Legend album. Its a nice change from his later hits. Not a favourite of mine (Exodus would be) or is it perfect (some songs were filler), but a nice album to put on when in need of relaxation and joy.
This bad boy slaps all the way to the moon and back.
Classic Bob Marley, perfect for sunny chill days
This one takes me back.
There's a lot of easy skankin going on here.
I was in the right mood for this.
I found this quite beautiful. Reggae is a genre I don't have much experience with, but Bob Marley has always been pretty darn good to me. Very accessible and very enjoyable.
Not a bad listen - my favorite song was "High Tide or Low Tide". 7/10.
Good album that gets better the more you listen to it. I don’t personally listen to a ton of reggae but I definitely vibed with the whole album as it grooved along. Favorite is probably High Tide Low Tide.
2/9/22 This album has a time and place and that’s on the beach. Hard to think I’ll listen to the whole album again unless I am on a beach, but I enjoyed it for the style it is. Definitely good vibes. The album gets better the second time you hear it! Favorite song: Stir it up and High Tide or Low Tide and No More Trouble
Some big hits but some songs new to me, very chilled and enjoyable.
- leve
nice, calming
Really enjoyed a new type of music. It was interesting to listen to the foundation of what was to come from Bob. Upbeat with some meaningful lyrics
Tripping
How am I just learning that there is so much more Bob Marley material than I previously knew? I just assumed there were only two or three albums before he died and most of those songs are on the "best of" and other compilation albums. But on this album there is only one song (Stir It Up) that I remember hearing before. It was really good. 4 stars.
Love Bob Marley
The best of this album IMO: - Concrete Jungle - Slave Driver - Baby We've Got A Date (Rock it Baby) - Stir It Up - Kinky Reggae - No More Trouble Any Bob Marley &The Wailers album is historical. I like when they're letting the music breathe, when they're just jamming out just like in Stir It Up. 4.4/5
What a great debut! Really cool sound on this album that's different compared to what you usually hear in the big hits. More of an edge to some of them, more raw. Quite the start to a legendary career.
The perfect antidote to this morning's dark freezing January temperatures. I wish I was lounging on a beach in the sun. Concrete Jungle, Baby We've Got A Date, and of course, Stir it Up are the top tracks for me.
Good background music for when friends are over
Pretty good pretty pretty good
Reggae!
Really nice. A classic. Glad I got to hear some deeper bob marley cuts
De pogga… ja gilla när dom va sådär.. rydon.. these nuts€!!!
jag är likt hej vad opp hallååå
Classic
good bob
I liked the sound, but would not listen to it on my own.
I didn't listen to the re-released tracks, just the original (disc 2). Classic reggae, and really good message if you listen closely.
Bob Marley is one of those artists that I could listen to endlessly, no matter the mood or scenario. Not sure this is the best album by Bob Marley & The Wailers, but also, there wasn't any tracks I didn't enjoy. Giving it a solid 4/5.
Unlike the last "reggae" album that we got on here, this one is actually reggae. And it's good. Very good. And I will listen to it again.
"Catch a fire" is such a great dismissal. Why hasn't that phrase caught on? I'm going to start using it. Best track: Concrete Jungle
7/10
vibes
A little slice of sunshine on a chilly London day.
Most of what I have listened to from Bob Marley has come from compilation / best of albums. This was a new album for me, with only a couple of songs that were familiar ("Stir It Up" <-- a classic, "Kinky Reggae"). I like Bob Marley. I liked the album. I might listen to this album again sometime.
Reggae's kinda growing on me
Worth it for Stir it Up alone.
I had never heard the majority of these songs. All good stuff!
Classic album, although not his best work imho. Nevertheless I always love to listen to Marley.
Nice relaxing music
Very nice
Really enjoyed this. Feel like there are more depths to be discovered on what was a nice and easy listen in first pass.
not my thing usually but really liked it!
Much love to Bob & crew always
Can't deny it's great
Nice mood setter for morning drive time
While this isn't necessarily my favorite genre, which this is like a precursor to Raggae. (I think) it's not something I'd normally listen to in the background. It's definitely a feeling, and has so much life in it. Maybe if I rolled a joint the size of a hogs leg and had a couch to melt into, I'd probably enjoy it more. But eitherway, blitzed out of my mind or not. It's a solid piece of art work.
Great reggae! Classic album.
A smooth introduction to reggae
Goood vibes, first reggae album i listened to. Very enjoyable
Great listen. Raggae is not really my thing, but this was very easy to listen to.
brilliant
As ever, an enjoyable experience. Was thinking it was fairly average, then stir it up came on and made me very happy!
Who doesn't like Bob Marley. Highlights: Stir It Up, High Tide Or Low Tide
anti-anxiety, good bass/keys, chill
I really like a bit of Bob. This album felt a bit more relaxed though - none of the classics I really know.
Not the most famous of his songs, but good background music
I love a lot of Bob Marley and The Wailer's music. Their music is what introduced me to reggae and was music I grew up with. Overall, it was a pretty solid album My favourite songs from this album are Slave Driver, Stir It Up and Kinky Reggae. 4/5 stars just bc some of the songs were not that great in my opinion
Good. Has some great versions of his classics and some deeper cuts, I do love his grittier more raw stuff. If I was going to pick up a Marley album this one would probably be the one I would aim for.
It's Bob. Always welcome!
przyjemne regage ale beaty te same w kolko
Bob Marley and the Wailers continued to cement themselves as a force with this album. Notably, Peter Tosh takes the lead on several tracks.
Excellent vibes, Marley really lives up to the legend
Album was pretty fire honestly, big fan of the Jamaican versions, especially of Concrete Jungle. Will listen to again for the vibes.
Everyone likes Bob Marley.
Good solid kinky reggae
Early Bob is best Bob
Excellent album and worth the entrance fee for Stir It Up and Concrete Jungle alone.
Love
Sielukasta reggaeta
I really enjoyed this. Listened three times. Great, diverse tunes.
The reggae album
I have always liked Bob Marley and The Wailers. Bob always sings of love and goodness and I like that.
First time Marley album listener 👋 made for a very nice afternoon playing Fifa with the sun peaking through the windows. Fabulous way to spend a day
Very much enjoyed the Bob Marley. Already a fan
one of a handful of genuine mavericks gone before their time
A classy album. More varied than I'd imagined. Not massively my style of music, but held my attention and really enjoyed listening to it.
Nice and chilled
A classic!
7/10 no es mi género uwu
good vibey album. will listen to again
A really cool album. Great lyrics, good songwriting, nice grooves.
Vraiment bon. Du reggae a l'état pure! Cet album est maintenant mon préféré de Bob Marley and the Wailers après avoir écouté au moins 1000 fois Legend. 4.5
Fun record, never listened to it before.
Dug it enought. Probably not my jam but pretty top notch if you're into reggae.
Album starts off incredibly strong. Concrete Jungle is 🔥. Guitar is more present than I would have typically thought with a reggae album. Great harmonies throughout. First six are great, a little soft in the middle. Standouts are- Concrete Jungle, Slave Driver, Stop that Train, Stir it Up, and Hight Tide or Low Tide
Never disappoints
You gotta be in the right mood, but when you are, it’s magical.
pretty groovy
Know a whole lot of these already the others sound similar. Hard to identify with this and not feel like a bit phony but I like it.
Classic Bob Marley
Fine for what it is, got bored, everything kinda sounded the same
Accidentally listened to the version of the album with the Jamaican mixes and the Original mixes. I can say the originals are better, and that it gets better on the second listen when you can sing along with Bob and the Wailers. Stir It Up is so damn catchy, and I don't even care that reggae is the same percussion for each song.
Dope. Haha get it like.....like weed...cause it’s Bob Marley...... Haha
- yeah this is nice
The first reggae album that we have on the list. It’s an instant classic from Bob Marley and his band. The bass on this record is is pretty prominent and I like it a lot. I don’t think this is my favorite Bob record but I do like it. Favorite song: Stir It Up Least favorite song: Stop That Train
Only ever heard the live hits. This is amazing.
Odlican chill
Not heard this before but really enjoyed it.
Classic good times vibes
Reggae is good music for me if I'm in a mood to or already am relaxed. Today is not that day. Still, the album is pretty great. 4 stars.
I've not heard it before
Chill
Escapist reggae. Reminds me of far away places.
Class
Hard to go wrong with Marley. Probably his best work
Reggae on a rainy day is a vibe
Im more of a dub fan and I’ve been trying to get more into straight reggae lately. Bob Marley is an obvious choice but while I don’t have a problem with him, he doesn’t steal the show for me like he does for most listeners. ‘Catch a Fire’ was a likely vintage to push my buttons right but today’s listen didn’t prove that to be the case. I will keep trying but increasingly I feel like my reggae gold might be lying elsewhere.
3. I'm just not a big reggae fan.
An enjoyable album on a sunny day. Not as good as the previous Bob Marley album on this list in my opinion (Natty Dread). Favourites: Concrete Jungle Baby We've Got A Date All Day All Night
I enjoyed it, very relaxed. Not my typical genre though
This was my second Marley album within the first 20 records. I liked this one better than the last 3 starts.
Maybe a little too mellow for me, but still enjoyed listening. Did not like Kinky Reggae at all.
Fav track: “Stop that train” high 3
3.11
i feel all the songs in the album are pretty similar to each other. not my kind, i want to give 2.5/5 but it's certainly not bad so it will get a 3/5.
Not much for me to say about this one, I've yet to really like any reggae music but didn't dislike this
Starting out with a genre I'm historically not a big fan of. Veggies first! Overall a solid album, but reggae remains not my jam. Favorite songs are No More Trouble, 400 Years, Kinky Reggae
Good album, not a huge reggae fan
bros please I cannot do any more reggae
good
Great record! Has all the best of those Marley vibes. The first couple of tunes are lyrically awesome as well
Reggae is the epitome of the "i will listen if it is on but I will never seek it out" type of music
This is my favourite Bob Marley record to pop up so far. Favourite Track(s): Stop That Train, No More Trouble, High Or Low Tide Least Favourite Track(s): All Day All Night
The patron saint of stoners everywhere. This was pleasant to listen to even if I couldn't really tell one song from another: everything in the same time signature gets pretty old. Good music to chill to....for a couple of songs.....even sober.
Didn’t engulf me
