me gusta fumar porros y la cocacola ta bien

I enjoyed this quite a bit. I used to listen to Bob Marley a lot back in college. Stir It Up is a classic. I really wish there were half ratings cause this isn't quite a 4 but 3 feels too small.

I feel like a christian dad while listening to this. Not really my style, but I like '400 years' and 'Baby we've got a date'. I feel kinda peaceful and revolutional I guess.

I really enjoy the Wailers, especially the earlier stuff. 400 years is a classic, Peter Tosh's voice is incredible.

Didn’t grab me in the same way Exodus did, though no doubt the quality is there, perhaps it’s more of a slow burn.

Smelling like leaves

significantly less annoying than white stoner dudes in high school would have you believe. have never listened to a full bob marley album before. it's chill. "stop that train" and "baby we've got a date (rock it baby)" were highlights for me. still not a big reggae guy.

High Tide Or Low Tide🫶🏼

“No More Trouble” and “Slave Driver” are the two highlights for me. Ultimately, I still don’t care for reggae but I find myself better understanding its draw. I like the harmonies and background vocals more than anything else. The guitar is redundant, in both rhythm and tone, and I really dislike most of the organ throughout. I give it 6/10 mostly for its impact.

me when I have brown sugar all over my booger wooger

This was nice, it was fun to realize that songs I knew by other Marleys were, in fact, covers. Hearing the originals was fun!

Great listen, solidly between 3 and 4

Nice chill music, makes me wish I was on a beach somewhere with a beer.

3 stars

Bob Marley and the Wailers transformed their genre. While a bit more somber (translate, less evident joy) than Natty Dread, Marley navigates the range of emotion with such subtlety and style. There is diversity without compromise throughout.

Bien.

Probably the most polished of their stuff that we’ve had so probably my favourite but I’ve given them a fair crack and reggae is just not for me

I don't think reggae is really my thing, but I can respect the talent necessary to make it Favorite Song: Stop that Train

Not my usual cup of tea, but I can definitely see how this album was a major influence

Better than expected but please, no more reggae

Solid as always with Bob.

This is the Bob Marley sweet spot for me. Obviously reggae but slightly gentrified for those like me that aren’t the biggest fan of the genre

If you're looking for a certified reggae album to jam to, this is it. Musicians are tight, and it's a fine listen, but not much beyond what it says on the cover

The songs on this record are good. They're classics and easy to listen to. It's a classic reggae record but it's not really my wheelhouse.

No início me surpreendeu, mas ficou repetindo muito rápido .

Reggae sinistrinho

I like an album with a message and there's a bunch of them here. It explores systemic oppression, poverty and even love. It is done in an excellent fashion. The musicians are excellent and you can tell just by listening to them how in sync they are with one another to paint these pictures and tell their stories. I believe that it is slightly weaker in comparison to Natty Dread but it is still worthwhile. This time it gets repetitive without fully letting the listener settle into a flow state. The standouts are "Concrete Jungle" and "Kinky Reggae".

Fav song: No More Trouble

pretty good album . id say its very hippie (?) and sounds like something my grandpa would listen to . it has some good tracks, i really love high tide low tide (jamaican version) and slave driver . i actuslly quite enjoyed this album and even though its not one of my favorites nor my go to genre , this is still a solid album that im sure lots will like ! this would be good on beach days #tbh

To me, this is the platonic ideal of optimal background music

Catch a Fire is the sound of reggae stepping onto a bigger stage without sanding off the grit that made it matter. Released in 1973, it was the Wailers’ first album for Island Records, and it is widely treated as the record that helped carry Bob Marley & The Wailers from Jamaican giants into international focus.

This project has helped me to appreciate reggae a little more which is nice. I thought this was pretty interesting. Maybe not quite as good musically as Exodus, but there's some sharp political messaging here.

For someone who’s listened very little to Bob Marley this album sounded exactly how I expected a Bob Marley album to sound

Really enjoyable on a sunny day

Decent album.

Brought back memoirs of being a young teen working in Camden Market in the mid-80’s. A few of the stalls played Reggae and there was an excellent second hand vinyl seller near my stall who seemed to play it all summer long. This isn’t the best Marley album though so only gets a 3 from me, and mainly for reminding me about the market job.

Bob Marley has been completely ruined for me by working in retail in the early 90s and Legend being one of three albums played to death at Christmas because they sold in droves whenever you put them on. He's linked in my head with Simply Red and Tina Turner. I really can't separate it from that so I'm giving it a 3 which is not really fair.

Not really my thing. I always enjoy about the first twenty minutes and then start to get a bit bored.

Not my tempo

tosi semmoset kesäilta bissen kans vibat tulee näist biiseist. vähä ehk liian hidas ja ilonen mun makuun mut tosi solid kyl. biisit vähä liian samanlaisia koko albumis eli olis tarvinnu enemmän vaihtelua, mutta semmonen solid 6/10 albumi, uudelleenki vois kuunnella muttei mitään maailmaa muuttavaa. lempibiisi: No more trouble

Reggae just ain‘t my thang.

Liked it more than I thought. A lot of reggae blends together for me, but this had some standout tracks. Fun listen.

very catchy tunes

preferred natty dread

Great vibe on this album. I enjoyed this and it was better than I expected. 7/10 Top song Stir it up

Reggae is not my favorite but if I’m going to listen to it, it’s gonna be this

I don't know the history of reggae music, but Bob Marley is iconoclast in that field, so this feels like a satisfactory place to start. And I did like the album while it was on. It was...fine. But as it continued, it started to get tougher to differentiate the songs from one another. There's nothing inherently wrong with an album that's just a "vibe" but I was hoping for something more. It's pleasant, but I'm struggling to find more words to write about it...

Bob Marley’s Catch a Fire is one of those albums that instantly transports you. The moment the first notes of Concrete Jungle hit, there’s this unmistakable blend of tension, groove, and sun‑soaked rhythm that feels like stepping into the Caribbean breeze. The production is smoother than the raw early Wailers recordings, but it still carries that unmistakable roots energy—tight basslines, smoky guitar licks, and Marley’s voice cutting through with conviction. When I’m actually in the Caribbean, this album becomes something else entirely. Songs like Stir It Up and Kinky Reggae feel tailor‑made for slow afternoons, warm nights, and that relaxed island rhythm. It’s almost like the music syncs with the environment—suddenly every track feels deeper, richer, more alive. But I’ll be honest: outside of that setting, it’s not always my go‑to. I love it, but it’s more of a mood album for me. When I’m not in that laid‑back, sun‑drenched headspace, I tend to reach for other Marley records or different genres entirely. Still, Catch a Fire remains a classic—an album I appreciate deeply, even if I don’t spin it every week.

Solid overall. The first half of the album was better than the second. If they kept the quality of the first half, I probably would have rated it's a 4

Terrible album cover, hinge and all. Album was fine; I didn't realise 'Stir it Up' was called that (due to vowels). Classic lyric: "Their mind is confused with confusion"

Not my fave genre but a very fun listen!

This was enjoyable and cruisy. As a prominent beat lover I have been trying to figure out why I don’t love reggae and think its because the BPM is not frenetic enough - which is absolutely a me problem cause these guys are clearly doing great stuff.

I feel like this was “a vibe” but didn’t really rise much beyond that. Possibly a factor of most songs having a similar tempo and also probably not intended as music for marking French exams to

This all sounds great but I don’t know if I can sustain full albums of reggae personally

I'm not a reggae fan but this was pretty solid. 5/10

Enjoyed it, but the songs are a bit too repetitive. I don't think these are Marley's best written songs. I was moved by some of the lyrics about the long suffering of his people, though. Those resonated with me. The love songs, however, not so much.

It's pretty good Reggae, but nothing special compared to some of his later albums.

Starts strong, gets boring, revives, bores me out. Definitely listenable but not my jam lolz

Rockier, bluesier than expected. Guitar work across the album is exceptional. Favorite two songs were the "Jamaican Versions", so I imagine I'd rate that version of the full album higher. Still a very good listen. Light and enjoyable at times; heavy and contemplative at times.

fin fin - dog rimeligt ensformigt, det trækker ned.

*65 Ganske fint album. Eek a mouse, Barrington Levy, mv. har gjort det mere i min smag. Men hatten af til Mob Barley.

Bouncy bouncy. But it’s growing on me. A nice album.

stir it up is the clear front runner on this album. i dont think its as strong as exodus, but still a delightful album to listen to.

Don’t think I was in the proper setting for this, just driving around in my car. Always love bob marley but this one felt a bit too repetitive with some of the songs.

"Mind is confused with confusion" that's what I remember from this album from when I was mowing my grass. The genre is fine. My perspective is unfortunately tainted by my history with an archetype of person that would bring Jack Johnson and Bob Marley to their suburban white beach vacation. I don't know how to reconcile all of that but I do know that at a subconcious level I just have more fun listening to Toots

pretty good, used it for chill background music, liked stir it up

It's a cool album. Its hard to appreciate music that was groundbreaking to the point it was widely imitated. I wouldn't rush to listen again but it was an enjoyable listen

I'm a fan of reggae, so it's disappointing that of the 5 Jamaican reggae records in this list 3 are by Bob Marley. Marley did a great job bringing the music to UK rock audiences and being the first "World Music" superstar. But most of those who explored the genre further found artists they prefer. This record is bland, a bit slow paced and Bob isn't the best singer in reggae. There's better version out there of Stop This Train, and Concrete Jungle - seek them out.

Not a particular fan of reggae, but when it’s done as well as this I can understand why it (and Bob Marley) are so popular. Undecided as to whether I’d revisit this specific album, but not bad at all.

It was fine

really love reggae, the vibe is amazing. This is not a masterpiece, there are better, but is pretty good, i enjoyed this very much. 3.3/5

Good solid 3. Perfect gentle Saturday afternoon listening. A lovely clear album.

3.5? Very nice

It was fine. Every song literally sounded the same. My favorites were probably Concrete Jungle and No More Trouble. Overall, I would give it a 3.2/5!

Decent. Not my favorite Bob Marley album but it was pretty good. Some good songs. I've always liked the production of his album and how they are recorded. This one is well recorded and sounds great!

Every song was very relaxed and chill but i dont know if i could have told any of them apart if i listened to them blind definitely something id play i the background of hanging with friends, probably stoned, but it'd feel weird to listen to it solo, for me anyway

Yep, that's reggae...

Really good album. But not my favorite Marley.

it's alright

Not bad

Git save no besseri vo ihm

I know this is sacrilege, but I find quite a lot of Bob Marley’s music quite dull and plodding. I like reggae that’s harder than this.

Groovy. Took me too long to realise the album repeats.

Love stir it up and this is a great album but not my favorite Bain Marley

Not a massive Reggae fan but this album floats by amiably. Catch a fire and Stir it up are stand out tracks. 3.2

Gets a little repetitive but good music to chill out to. Exodus was better.

Have I listened to this album before? No How familiar am I with this album? Unfamiliar How do I feel about this artist? I can enjoy some Bob Marley Favorite song(s)? Stir it up Overall Thoughts: Great Friday, fun and easy-going.

Album chill.

It's a pretty rootsy reggae album that still introduced some rock and funky elements in places, which kept it decently fun and interesting. The production was pretty interesting, too, as it incorporated techniques from more mainstream music like more creative panning, as well as use of special effects like reverb, delay and flange to create a more psychedelic soundscape. I however, didn't like how the bass in some of the tracks was causing the rest of the mix to distort, but it got noticeably better in other places, which also meant the mix was a litle inconsistant. The players on this album are locked in, playing consistantly and tightly on tempo and rhythm the entire way through all the songs. Concrete Jungle is probably the best example of a song on the album that has all the musicians playing well together, but also incorporates more rock and funk elements that i mentioned earlier. I have to add that this is a very political album, and it is not a hidden message or anything metaphorical at all, just an upfront longing for love and peace, the best example being lyrics in the songs Stop That Train and No More Trouble. Baby We've Got a Date was the first skip on the album, having no real substance aside from being a sex song and the same rhythm as the song before, same goes for Kinky Reggae, which is my least favourite song from this album. As for my favourites, Stop That Train and Stir It Up are probably among the better and more interesting songs, for having a more unique feel and rhythm, as well as harmonic elements. A super nice solo makes its way into Stir It Up, which was a great surprise. More improvisation and jamming would have been very welcome on this album. Overall, Catch a Fire is a simple, relaxing and fun album, and is the roots of modern reggae music. Although i did ultimately get bored around halfway through every song, with the exception of a few, it was an enjoyable listen. Track scores: Concrete Jungle 3/5 Slave Driver 3/5 400 Years 3/5 Stop That Train 4/5 Baby We've Got A Date (Rock It Baby) 2/5 Stir it Up 4/5 Kinky Reggae 1/5 No More Trouble 3/5 Midnight Ravers 4/5

Bob Marley always reminds me of the trend in the 90s where they would this great upbeat music & give them the most depressing, dour lyrics possible. Like Hootie & the Blowfish or Blind Melon. The difference is that Marley makes the music & lyrics uplifting. The dour, depressing stuff is from turmoil but still happy sounding. Its odd kinda. 3

I'll say it: whatever

Great reggae album. Nice groove that sometimes lasts a sweet melody.

liked thevibes

Good album. I'm not a big fan of reggae, but I actually enjoyed this one pretty much. The bass sounds is really good.

Enjoyable, but not Bob's best. Not sure that this needs to be on this list at all with Catch A Fire already on it.

I was always going to enjoy a Bob Marley and The Wailers album. It's the most relaxing sounds and his voice makes it smooth. It didn't grab my attention too much but did not dislike

Concrete Jungle was good, and everybody knows Stir It Up. There's a sameness to the steel drums and rhythm across the songs that makes it easygoing enough to get political messages across in a non-offensive way. I know Bob Marley is legendary, but reggae just isn't my style.

Closer to Motown soul than you might expect.

Very floating in the pool in the sun vibes. Not a lot of musical variety from track to track but I think it's to emphasize the atmosphere of the music and the specific lyrics and message of the songs. I like the bass lines in the songs and the keyboard always adds a critical part. Still learning to appreciate Reggae but this was not unpleasant.

What a great kick off to the 1001 albums! Got me excited to listen more - reminded me to listen to some ska. Stir It Up is a perfect song. So sweet and simple. I do think the album lost my attention towards the end but I think that will change as days go on.

An OK record by the Raggae Master

great message through good music, but everything just felt identical.

I mean I get it ... but honestly I just have never been a fan of Reggae. Its not bad music, but I always tend to zone out, because backseat and rythym is the same for every song, and just starts to sound like the same song after awhile.

Yeah nice and pleasant I’m just not ever going to be a huge reggae fan in general. But it was good!

didn't fully enjoy it but i do understand and respect why its on this list

Album #108 Bob Marley and The Wailers: Catch A Fire This is music that you really just can’t hate. Simply a good vibe and a good time. Marley’s voice is comforting and keeps the listener at ease throughout the whole album. There is never any urge to get up and turn it off or switch a song, because there are no urges at all; you simply let the music take over. That being said, though this is quite a consistent album, it also holds it back a bit. The danger with being too comforting is that the listener gets comfortable. The album never seeks to impose more than what it is doing, and though there isn’t anything wrong with that, and plenty of people choose to listen to music that acts as more of a background noise or is just easy-listening, I find that the albums that stick with me are the ones that force the listener to engage. Definitely not a huge criticism, however, since this album, for what it is, is quite great. I have always enjoyed reggae from afar. I think there is no more satisfying language/dialect than the Jamaican one; everything a Jamaican says feels like it has some serious weight to it. I was not too impressed by the most popular track, ‘Stir It Up’, and I am quite surprised that it is far more relevant than the other tracks. Best Songs: Baby We’ve Got A Date (Rock It Baby), Concrete Jungle, Midnight Ravers Worst Song: Kinky Reggae Score out of 10: 7.5

Feel 9.5/10:Like Im on a trip with Bob Length 4/10:Honestly feels like it’s constantly dragging. Musicality 12/10:Like the South American drums and there is amazing instrumentals throughout the album Flow 5/10:Every song sounds the same really. Same beat Lyrics 7/10: Mostly makes no sense but holy the trip Overall 7.5/10: The musicality carries. It’s very repetitive

It was alright, not too much to say about it.

I have to give this another listen.

Good start but got a bit boring and repetitive in the middle, redeemed itself at the end

Great, but not my style

Destaques: No More Trouble, Midnight Ravers

This was THEE perfect album to listen to while walking around town, snapping pictures of the scenery. Definitely adding a few of these to my burgeoning 'Beach Music' playlist.

Bob Marley leuk maar altijd het zelfde

Sometimes it takes me a minute to remember the power behind reggae songwriting. Powerful words and a powerful message. I loved "No More Trouble" off this one.

Although I do love Bob Marley & The Wailers, this album really only has one hit. It's still good though.

What can I say about Marley and this album that hasn’t been said. So many good tunes on here but perhaps the best know Stir it up.

Stir It Up

Get me to the beach!

A really nice listen. Didn't have a tall tropical drink in hand, but should have. Only a few songs I had heard before, and doesn't have some of my favorites, but a solid 3.

It was good for reggae... I just don't have a regular place for reggae in my life.

Pretty standard reggae. Pleasant to listen to, really no different than past Marley albums I've listened to on this list. I think Exodus beats this one out. Standouts were "Baby We've Got A Date" "Stir It Up" and "No More Trouble" Pretty standard 3/5. Not amazing, not bad.

247/1089 i quite liked this, reggae generally is a good vibe obviously and this one was better than Exodus imo faves: Concrete Jungle, Midnight Ravers, Kinky Reggae 62/100

A real pleasant listen lead by the hit "Stir It Up".

This just doesn’t have the same umph as other Bob Marley and the Wailers albums. It’s missing the joy and hope from the last album we heard and becomes slow and tedious in parts. It still has some great songs but overall just ok. High 3.

I have to disagree with the establishment on this one. I don’t like this Wailers album as much as many of their other offerings and I can’t count it as one of their best. It feels slow, safe, measured and overproduced. The power, energy and joy that draws me to their other music is all but absent from this one. Give me Rastaman Vibration or Exodus everyday over this one.

En hirvee ajatuksella kuunnellu ku en ehtiny, mut hemo flashback ku menin kattoo one love elokuvaa elokuvateatteriin. Parasbiisi: no more trouble Arvosana: 3,25

I mean, Bob Marley is huge right? This less popular stuff certainly highlights his voice in addressing a difficult Jamaican history. That being said, nothing he's done has really resonated with me. Now is that surprising coming from a white 30-something Canadian guy? No. I do appreciate that the sound is fresh and he inextricably was himself at all times in his music. So credit where credit is due

Eh.. very tropical lowkey? Could be better for in summer. Stir it up could be fire for being lackadaisical or whatever.

Solid record. Reggae isn't really my thing; it doesn't excite me, and I think it's pretty monotonous. But there were two tracks on this album that hooked me by being more rock-y and more chill: Concrete Jungle and Stop That Train respectively. I didn't really like the song Kinky Reggae mainly because of the lyrics. Not my cup of tea, but a totally fine piece of music.

- ei paras bob marley platta mut iha hyvä

Enjoyable and easy going to listen to. I haven't listened to enough reggae to really place with it's peers but a high 3 for me.

Okay but not exceptional.

This is a phenomenally chilled out performance. It’s not hit heavy, but doesn’t need to be as it gently takes you through a series of open hearted reggae performances from the masters of the art. Quality-wise I only spot two outliers which sit side by side. Stir It Up is clearly an all time classic and the awkward Kinky Reggae which immediately follows it is easily the worst of the crop.

Catch a Fire gets a high 3 from me, still yet to find reggae i consistently love but this is all good stuff and is very enjoyable

silky smooth

Didn't hit me like I hoped it will do when I saw it was a Bob Marley album... not the vibes I hoped for 3/5

So grateful to hear Marley tracks not on his greatest hits.

Disfrutable

It’s ok. Pleasant. A bit too polished and sanitised maybe. Prefer Dub music.

Don't mind a bit of Bob

Not bad at all but I don't think I am suddenly going to become a huge reggae man overnight at age 55. Compared to the earlier Bob thought it lacked an Exodus length monster groove so not scoring quite as high on judges scorecard.

Despite being very laid back musically, Catch a Fire is very upfront lyrically. The lyrics are often vivid and full of creative wording, not something you'll often see on an album that mostly seems to want to create a single hypnotic vibe. The first two songs are especially a highlight in this regard. Even when the songs are more laid back and about love, the lyrics remain strong. That laid back vibe is always a joy, especially when the vocal harmonies come in. I do find myself wishing it wasn't so clean in places though. I'm not a huge reggae fan, but I typically prefer the dubbier side of things. Outside of the guitar on "Concrete Jungle" though this is very clear, which doesn't help the fact that there aren't a ton of surprises in these songs. A great album to put on during a sunny day and relax to, but for me it doesn't hold up under a close listen.

Need to listen to this next to a body of water

I wish I knew why this was on the list. 1973 ... so maybe it was new and novel at the time.

It’s good - nothing really stands out here, though. There comes a time when I have to turn it off, as the reaggae style gets too tedious

Summer, floaty upbeat. Those vibrations are defo good for you but not sure if it’s my fav genre

It's alright. It's not my kind of music, but I can definitely understand the appeal. The entire album feels like the same song just with different words. I don't think I'd be able to distinguish between a song so far. His voice is definitely what carries the band.

Standard reggae fare, great to nod along too etc etc.

jest okey fajnie było przesłuchać – reagge jest dość monotonne writing though very good

It's a solid album, but doesn't really stand out

Every time I listen to reaggae I wish it were ska or rocksteady. Almost every time... I guess Bob Marley isn't bad but I never connected with his music the way I did with Jimmy Cliff's. That's not a bad thing, but dreads are gross and Rastafarians are annoying.

I like dub way more than I love reggae, but this is still good

Good Reggae album. Too bad I'm not a fan of Reggae.

Enjoyed it

Blind album. Smooth listening id say, but don't think I like Reggae, sorry Bobby boi

Solid album. Chill.

Good stuff but low BPM. Funny enough my favorite song didn't have Bob Marley singing.

Chill vibes. Favourite track: High Tide or Low Tide

400 years добавила в плейлист.

Natty Dread

I didn't recognize these songs. It felt familiar. I'd thumbs up the album.

I enjoyed this album. Each song felt unique but very easy to listen to all the way through. There were a couple choruses I wasn’t a fan of but overall everything was good. Fav song is Stir It Up, least fav is Baby We’ve Got A Date (Rock It Baby).

I feel like the only person in the world who isn’t in love with Bob Marley music. There’s nothing wrong with it but every song sounds the same to me. It’s that flicky guitar and wailing vocals that don’t do it for me. It just reminds me of being on a boat and drinking fruity island drinks and I am sure that that is not the association Bob Marley was going for.

I much prefer ska music from the 50's and early 60's that birthed reggae music. "Simmer Down" by a very young Bob Marley featuring The Skatallites is a fantastic song, for example. All I can think of listening to reggae is of the countless souvenir and airbrush t-shirt shops in every touristy beach town. It's a vibe that fits a certain place and time, but I'm never gonna listen to any reggae/Bob Marley on my own. 3 stars.

I liked the voice melodies and the choir ones, too, but, I didn't really connected with this genre. I hope I listen more reggae albums so I can like it as much as I thought i would. Anyways, I loved the song "High Tie Or Low Tie"

I felt stronger about Exodus when I had that album pop up in this project. This one was a good listen, just didn't have quite the infectiousness with the singles.

Was nice chill experience. Towards the end I was starting to feel the slowness of the album bothering me, not that I expected the music to be any different, but it is just not my music style and my brain was already craving more action. Overall nothing bad to say, but not my style.

I'm not a massive reggae fan, as a genre it's too samey and repetitive for my tastes. This was a pretty decent album though. Good vocals, good lyrics (though again these can be very repetitive at times). Some really funky beats and bass lines. I still wouldn't seek out more reggae, but this was decent background, and there was enough interesting stuff going on in the tracks that I wasn't getting bored/irritated by the repetitive rhythms. Highlight for me was "Midnight Ravers".

Uninspiring reggae beats with good lyrics, not a huge fan but I'll give it some credit. It's also short which is nice for these slower albums. Low 3

Por su parte, las letras de verdad reflejan a un poeta: ''No chains around my feet, but I'm not free, I know I am bound here in captivity''.

Nice. Relaxed.

I liked it but felt quite samey

Some things I really liked, Marley has a great voice and I was impressed by the guitar playing. The songs tend to drag a little bit. If you’re in nonstick where you really catch a groove I’m sure it’s a different story.

it's just not for me.

Listened to both of the versions for each song and personally I enjoyed the regular disc versions instead. The Jamaican versions aren't awful but I just found that the sounds are too groovy and funky for my liking. It's a good album and although I consider my music taste very out there, this one does not hit the mark for me personally as an amazing album but I can understand why people love it.

I enjoyed listening to this.

Solid reggae

ooo bob marley. OOO funky beatsssss. anjay ska yo mannnnn. interestingg, very chill!

Nice record. The jamming's fun, and very chill. Can't complain about this at all, though I doubt it's something I'll come back to very much.

Enjoyable easy listen. Three stars

Thoroughly enjoyable three star experience

Decent background-music-for-vibes album, but none of the songs particularly stood out to me. Happy to have it playing but won't go out of my way to listen again.

7/10 - I was pleasantly surprised. I knew all of the main Bob Marley songs but these songs had more depth, soul, and meaning than I was anticipating. I would pick this album up once or twice a year.

I had never listened to reggae or Bob Marley outside the hits and was pleasantly surprised. It's good vibes music. Strong 7/10

This is the kind of music that I would only enjoy if I was on holiday (which I'm not) or if I smoked weed (which I don't). It's decent music but not really my taste. All of the songs kind of sound the same and, as a result, it just fades into the background for me. It's still pleasant though and much better than a lot of the albums I got before it

cool enough, not really that into reggae though so not much to say.

Very pleasant but every song melded unidenitifably into the next.

Concrete Jungle - 4/5 Slave Driver - 3.5/5 400 Years - 4.5/5 Stop That Train - 3/5 Baby We've Got A Date (Rock It Baby) - 3.5/5 Stir It Up - 3/5 Kinky Reggae - 2.5/5 No More Trouble - 3/5 Midnight Ravers - 3/5 High Tide Or Low Tide - Jamaican Version - 3.5/5 All Day All Night - Jamaican Version - 3.5/5

Not enough here for me to obsess over, but still solid. Low 3

Solid Bob, stir it up is my favorite song of his all time so this made it for me. I was blown away but I enjoyed it

Not something I normally listen to...but good. 3/5

The lyrics were very good an easy story to follow along. However I'm just not a big fan of reggae despite that I could enjoy at some moments as it is great music, but the winter might not the best time to listen to this 3/5

Solid, but a much more chill, Bob album.

Good, felt a little short somehow.

I can't go higher than a 3 for Bob mostly because everything runs together in his songs, on purpose. I was surprised by this one though - perhaps because it's still early and Peter Tosh is there, things are a little looser and rougher around the edges. There's also not a massive amount of "hits" from this record, and that serves it well as a more cohesive work. The Jamaican versions are a treat too, so this is a great record under the radar, if suffering from of Bob's worst tropes.

Listenable.

Solid reggae album no weak points

It’s just dull. Nothing specifically wrong with it, it just doesn’t stir it up.

This album is pretty much what you’d expect from a Bob Marley album. I’m not really into reggae since it all sounds so similar and the same, but this record is solid for what it is. It was a nice way to kick off my morning and get the day going.

Listened to on recovery run. Very reggae but quietly hyped me up

Enjoyable listening, but not his best IMO.

I liked Stir it Up. That was familiar. The rest were okay

It's fun. Chill. Good background. Staple reggae.

Niet verkeerd

Helemaal prima

Dit klinkt opzich super. Productie is top. Zang is goed. Politiek is on point.

It was good and a nice album to just vibe and listen to

Wish I was on a beach rn

Not my favorite album of theirs. Overall it was fine.

didn’t mind it. Marley gets better on future albums

Locked in groove right here, tight, has a way of delivering absolutely searing commentary without sounding obnoxious and keeping a certain brightness in life. The recording quality sadly is not that good, the live versions of these songs really show them off at their best, but still slaps

Not actually my cup of tea

Meeeeget ensformet efter et par sange, men godt

I don't dislike reggae but it's a genre I would rarely, if ever, seek out. The rhythms are so same-y that it gets tedious pretty quickly. 2.5/5

A bit of Bobs always fine man. But quit mood dependent for me. Normally backgroundish. This one no different.

I'm completely ambivalent about reggae.

Hört sich gut weg. Not much of a Reggae-Fan, but this is nice.

Love tha vibe

pretty good, but nothing stand out in my opinion

Good album but honestly not my music taste at all. Too slow for me unfortunately. Was nice listening to something i dont listen to often!

Fave track: Concrete Jungle Least fave track: ummm maybe midnight ravers? overall 6.8/10

This album was okay, I think it doesn't have enough oomph and is toooo chill.

It's hard for me to listen to Reggae stuff because it was on all the time growing up and I wasn't a fan. This album however has some great riffs and showed me a different side, especially as again, only know the real big hits from Bob Marley. Fun listen, probably won't be regular though

*1973. *Stir It Up is the only song I know here. *Normally I love Bob Marley, but this was a little uninspired. Still good. RATING - 6.5/10

A second Bob Marley album in a week? I can’t handle this much reggae. Apple Music will start recommending more of the same in my feed! But then again, I didn’t mind the last album. This was real good. Do I like reggae?? 3/5. Very confused.

75/100

Enjoyable. Great for cooking and eating family dinner.

While not necessarily my taste, it was still an easy and fun listen.

7/10 gotta smoke weed to this. Very groovy, first time listening to reggae so that was pretty cool experience. Overtime i felt that it was too repetitive, but it has some chill bangers.

Good not great?

Great if you like reggae. I just don’t.

I expected to enjoy this more than I did.

it was to be expected

Chill reggae not really my thing but it’s good.

I like this enough. It’s a little repetitive for me. I hate to say it but I think i would just listen to legend

bez szału

I just don't like reggae the album is fine, its all the same sound and I don't like the sound

It’s not horrible but just not a big reggae fan

Not my style but good, I think I will appreciate it more in the summer

It's nice, chill, some emotion, classic reggae.

Sounds kinda samey.

Had a strong start both intrumentally and lyrically. Great way of displaying very real political issues on top of music that makes you feel. Though I felt a decline midway through as the songs started to become static and boring. Love Bob Marley but this one just might not be for me.

fun instrumentals, did not enjoy "kinky reggae"

Ratings: 5: I will happily play this album anytime 4: I may occasionally play this album of my own free will 3: I will happily listen to this if someone plays it in the background 2: I will tolerate this if it is playing in the background 1: I will leave the room if someone plays this in the background Still struggle to get into Bob Marley. I'm sitting on a 2.5. Going to round it to 3 as it does sound good.

I enjoyed it but I wouldn't say I'd keep it on a loop.

Chill but too chill, pretty boring

Pretty good but frankly I experienced diminishing returns listening to this as most of the tracks sounded exactly the same to me. Stir It Up was standout good though.

Never listened to a Bob Marley album before and I’m not sure how I feel about it. I’ll give it a 3 & move on

Now, this I like. This was good. Though still not perfect, it's one of the greatest in its genre

Enjoyable listen but all a bit the same after a while

Wish I liked reggae more. After a while I found the songs pretty repetitive. Same opening, often similar backing loops. At least to my ears. The lyrics and vocals are nice. I’m just never enthusiastic about anything. 3/5

Started off rocking harder than I expected from Bob Marley and then quickly devolved into a fairly repetitive, yet still enjoyable enough album. Had some sick guitar solos early on that I wish had more of a presence later in. This is my first of 3 Bob Marley & The Wailers albums on the list, and my second album featuring Peter Tosh. Did Bob Marley have a solo career, or was it always him and the Wailers?? For being such a notable name in Reggae/Music history, I’m admittedly only aware of his hits. Kind of want to watch a Bob Marley documentary after this. I have no doubt I would be more appreciative of the goat and his lasting legacy. I was largely unfamiliar with Bob Marley’s music before listening to this, but you really kind of get the gist of it after a song or 2. Keep in mind, Bob Marley is THE most notable figure in Reggae music history, like it’s not even remotely close, and this album was still enjoyable enough, but Reggae doesn’t really blow me away as a genre. After a while, there’s only so much I can take at a time. Now, I don’t think I’m going to be the first person to point this out, but I suspect this kind of music may be more enjoyable if one is smoking the devil’s lettuce. Bold statement, I know. I’m a true visionary. What was I saying?? Oh, right. Bob Marley. My favorite song on the album was “400 Years”. The messaging, keyboard, deep bass, and vocals were pretty awesome. The aforementioned guitar in “Concrete Jungle” was also pretty great. Overall, this album was good, and I would happily listen to it if it was playing on the radio, but I don’t think it convinced me to return to it on my own. For this musical journey I’m on, there are 2 more Bob Marley albums on the list. Let’s see if they have more of a staying power than Catch A Fire. This one was alright, but it’s not something I’m going to be thinking about much after today. Nonetheless, it’s a very comfortable 3.

A couple of standout tracks, but as you have to expect with Reggae music, a lot of the tempos and rhythms can blur into one if you aren't paying close attention. Some very good playing from the band though and those moments are very easy on the ear when they occur.

love it ! great vibes of course it's more of a summer album but I had a great moment listening to it

Some classic Marley tunes. Album would probably hit better if it wasn't freezing cold outside and in the middle of a winter storm. Makes me want to be barefoot in the sand somewhere.

Alright classic music, but not for me

She had brown sugar all over her booga wooga

Starts of on a high note, but gets softer and softer as the album goes on. I like listening to reggae, but it did all kinds start to blend together for me towards the end.

Bob Marley I hadn’t listened to before. Great, but no bangers.

Mid by Marley's standard, but still a cool listen.

2.7/5 Solid album. I've only heard a few Bob Marley songs before but this was pretty good. Could definitely put this on again.

first listen first time listening to a bob marley album and i was kind of surprised that i hadn’t heard any of these before. got a bit samey for me at the end idk! sorry! fav: concrete jungle

Not really my sound, but I appreciate it

Not a huge reggae fan, but I can understand why people like this

Chilled vibe and some songs that I enjoyed on repeat listens.

I was doing other stuff with the on, but it didn’t really draw me in. Concrete Jungle and Stir it Up yes! Will need to revisit sometime as I do love Bob Marley

I never really listened to BMATW growing up although I remember Stir it up being on the radio. I enjoyed the funky bass lines and how tight the band plays. Not sure I will return to the album as it really didn't grab me

The original US version did not include High Tide or Low Tide. Which is insane it’s the best song after Stir it Up

Its alright, some classics but don't know if I would listen again

Concrete jungle is the best one on here. Slave rider and midnight ravers are also really good. Don't really see myself coming back to this tho

Best Song: Stir It Up. It's got a great groove, and it is weirdly reminiscent of the Orleans song "Still the One". Worst Song: Midnight Ravers. I think I had just started to lose the thread on all this reggae by this point. Overall: Nothing is bad here, but I'm also not much of a reggae guy, so this amount of laidback relaxation in one location starts to make me anxious.

This was fine. 3.3

first time sitting down with a bob marley album and i absolutely hear the appeal (mark another one down for the "wait you people weren't lying when you said this was good" team). beyond my superficial and likely erroneous understanding of bob marley through the filter of pop culture, this album instilled an ease and "chillness" that made it a great listen through. it might have been the mood of the day that i listened to this (had this going in the bg mostly) but i didn't save a lot of songs from this album. while that usually means i don't like an album too much, i wouldn't have any problem putting this on and going about my day anyhow ... and maybe i will do that and maybe i'll be back here later to revise my review / ratings. great stuff!! highlights - concrete jungle, stir it up

Solide

Solid background music to vibe to. Not sure reggae’s really capable of more than that for me. Midnight Ravers elevates this to 3.5 though
