Reviews (page 14 of 14)

Allergic to Van Morrison.

La verdad es que me aburrió, como le pongo -1 ⭐️?

Repetitive. Boring. Sounds nice, but its always the same thing. Lack of creativity. 1/5

Not my favorite genre, but I'm always down to try new music. Couldn't finish the whole album 'cause it just wasn't my type of music.

…having lost any pretense of objectivity by now….which feels great btw….more than one college girlfriend ruined this album for me…jelly rolls and fishing poles…I’m happy so many of y’all love this

مو ذوقي

Boring.

Already had one of these and he hasn’t got any better.

Could have died without listening to this again. Very whiny and repetitive. Wah wah, wah wah, wah wah wah

not really my speed but it’s okay!!

This and his early body of work has undeniably had a big influence on many subsequent artists. For example, the worst honky tonk filler tracks on early 70s Rolling Stones albums, and the almighty decades long blight on pub band music that Brown Eyed Girl had (and makes me want to run a mile the moment I hear it). He has single handled created the most tedious kind of brassed up blues rock that saps your soul. Objectively it’s probably 2*, but subjectively given the longevity of its public exposure and therefore personal torture it’s a rock bottom mark from me.

This is so boring. Just an absolute slog to get through. 1/5 stars.

Mediocre tbh, not my style at all

Bit boring, did not like his voice, good ideas but could have been better

Not a mood

Yes, yes, a classic album. Have listened. I have problems with this (these may not be your problems): I can't go into a bar with live music without hearing this title track and others (e.g., "Into the Mystic") by the local cover bands--every fucking single one. Even if the bands were stellar I'd hate it. Even if Morrison was there himself doing it or any other track from this record, even if there was no cover charge, I'd hate it. Even if he wasn't a Trumpie I'd hate it. He's right up there (again, for me) with Steely Dan, Billy Joel, and Elton John. So over it.

I liked Caravan and agree with VM - the song he would like played at his funeral..

Brzmi meblościanką

Better than brown eyed squirrel

Great album! But VM is a jerk. Was a total A-hole to a dear friend of mine.

Isn't it funny how Van Morrison always runs out of words when writing songs and needs to fill big parts of the song with sha la la and na na na all the time?

The only van morrison song i knew coming into this album was brown eyed girl, and the only song i liked on this album was moondance (the title song). I really didn't like this album, mostly because of the meandering feel, it was all very samey.

First 3 seconds made me cringe. I really don't like the country twang sound. It mellowed was more able to listen to it. Disclaimer. I mostly have only heard these songs when covered by other people. And with a first listen, I can tell why they are covered. They are beautiful songs. But his voice makes his songs tough to fully enjoy. It is very dated to the time it was created, and the updates to the songs are better for people like me with no nostalgia for the 70s. How many songs are on this. They are all blending together and my brain is bored.

Album cover had me laughing a bit, another one where I subconsciously know the music, but not the artist . Didn't hit me like the other albums, I'm going to be harsh with the rating because I had enough by the half way point

1 star, but moondance is ok .

The piano does not belong in a rock song.

Fuck Van Morrison

put him down

this is nothing music. can't be bothered to care, not even positive i spent the last 40 minutes actually listening to music. technically a 2 but spiritually a 1

Same old story here. The country folk parts are some of the worst sounds ever recorded and are further proof that this unimaginitive and annoying genre should be banned. The title track and few of the others are stray from country folk and are actually OK in places, but even when exploring other genres this album is still grating and uninteresting.

Did not like this at all. Boring, whiny.

the oinly redeming thing was the saxaphone

I don't know - I just really didn't like any of this. 1.5 / 10

Never liked him much after Brown Eyed Girl. Then he became Mr. Conspiracy.

I don't get the love Van Morrison gets. His voice is grating beyond belief. The faux jazz interludes are irritating and then he adds a harpsichord. Ugh! Plus he's a cranky, crusty individual whom I never want to cross paths with. Forget it.

Boooooo

Absolutely fucking not. Not just because he's a reprehensible prick, but also saxophone aside this is a very boring record.

Gobshite

no thanks man

This is another album where my view of it is coloured by the current political leanings of the artist. Van Morrison seems to have turned into a tin foil hat anti-vaxer with his latest album having a song “They Own the Media”. No prizes for working out what he’s alluding to here. I listened to this album anyway and didn’t really enjoy it. File in the bin with Morrissey, Clapton et al.

First listen Saved 1/10: Moondance

The man is a pig and a cancer on society. Having said that he is part of the fabric on Ireland and the album is smooth and mellow. I'm a fan of separating the art from the artist but fuck van Morrison.

I hate this prick

Det här var inte alls min musiktaste. Besvikelse

I knew the song "Moondance", but never liked it. I didn't like this album at all, primarily, because I don't like Van Morrison's voice. Hence, I have to give it a pour rating.

Ooo bad start. BUT it did lead me to his band Them who was so much better than his annoying solo crap. Ha.

Into the Mystic was the only song I somewhat liked.

Enough Van Morrison already. I'm gonna instead review an album from an artist that deserves this spot much more, and has a similar sounding name - Ennio Morricone. For my chosen album I'll go with Once Upon a Time in the West (C'Era Una Volta Il West) from 1968. Morricone's compositions shift between wistful and mellow to playful to intense and sometimes downright evil, conjuring up a wide array of emotions and atmospheres, that are equally as evocative without the cinematic images they were meant to accompany. There is another common thread here. Both Morrison and Morricone are Europeans producing work inspired heavily by America, but only one of them manages push past inspiration into actual innovation. As for Moondance, I award it one lasso for Van to go and play cowboy pretend. 𓍯

I ALREADY RATED THIS YOU IDIOTS

My enjoyment of that was like a roller coaster, but one of those ramshackle rickety wooden ones that doesn’t get very far off the ground. Will probably end up rated 1 star in lieu of 1.5 being a rating.

I've never been into Van Morrison. I like a few tracks but I know he's an arsehole and he sounds like an arsehole so I always feel he's slightly at arm's length to me. This was quite easy listening but nothing else for me. I liked the piano on Moondance though. More of the looseness would have been welcome.

Asshole

I just don't understand the acclaim this dude gets. Dull as fuck.

Not a Van Morrison fan.

Can't be arsed listening as I know it'll be a boring album

Overrated.

He's an asshole live. I won't support him at all.

It's all a bit nice and straightforward and formulaic

Pff. Boring.

Not a fan.

dun like it boring old man music im not a suburban american pentagenarian dad

Why does he have the simplest basslines mixed in so prominently. Eg come running Ok I do like brand new day

Noooot a huge fan of Van Morrison, just doing nothing for me.

Quite melodic.

Didn't realize this is where the song "Moondance" is from. Makes sense. Haven't generally listened to much Van Morrison. Good R&B/soft rock sort of Stuff. Definitely worth listening to more.
