Hip-hop isn't normally a genre I gravite towards, but this is pretty chill so far.
8 tracks in, getting bored. Not much happening, it's fine but boring.9 tracks to go though 🙄
They had a nelly furtado feature, which has reminded me to listen to Loose
Finally, the last track.... Overall it's just fine, nothing that I hate but nothing that stands out either. Very middle of the road. The flow is pretty good though, I'll give them that.
Already listened to this, potentially my favourite Bowie album (between ziggy stardust, aladdin sane and blackstar). There's just something about it that I can't quite explain.
I've always liked Iron Maiden, usually for their bass lines, but have never listened to an album by them.
Having finished the album now, have to say it was pretty good. Didn't completely blow me away but still enjoyable. Think I prefer their later songs.
Currently around halfway and I'm finding it to be boring, which for an album that later got turned into a musical doesn't bode well.
Update: physically can't finish it, made it through the majority of it but I can't put myself through the rest
Before listening: I'm only familiar with Van Halen's hits, there are bands from this era that I actively listen to way more, so I'm curious about what their debut is like.
After: For a debut rock album, this is pretty solid, usually it takes a few to find a decent set of tracks. The band are clearly very talented, but I don't think they'll ever be one of my favourites, which is ok. Overall a good time.
I can now understand why my Dad never introduced me to Steely Dan, they're really pretentious.
Going into this, I already know that I like The Divine Comedy, so hoping for good things.
Right, as stated above, I already like The Divine Comedy, and I'm a huge fan of Björk, Tori Amos, and Kate Bush. So this is exactly the kind of thing that I'm into. I can get why it isn't for everyone, but I don't care, I love it and that's all that matters to be honest. Will definitely check out more of her work.
Before: If I'm being completely honest here, I fucking hate Led Zepplin. I don't think they're as good as everyone makes them out to be. It also doesn't help that every music class I had for two years, this one boy wouldn't stop playing Stairway to Heaven on the guitar. So I'm going in extremely biased but I'll give it a go
After: It's nice to know I'm right about something, though I'll admit I didn't expect to be extremely bored during this album. All of the songs sounded almost identical to each other, why is this album rated as highly as it is?
Been meaning to listen to this for ages, I've already heard a couple of songs and love them so expecting good things
Update: This is genuinely now a favourite album, holy shit
Would have been a four if the longer songs earned their length
Almost impossible to find, hard to tell if what I found is the complete album or not. If I'm being honest, not really my thing. I already have a love hate relationship with 90s electronic music, and this album hasn't helped at all.
One of my favourite albums ever. My first concert ever (that I wanted to go to) was a couple of years ago to see the anniversary tour for this album.
Growing up, I was dragged along to folk clubs with my mum's band when my dad was working late. Considering that I just wanted to stay home, I'd complain the whole time, but was still allowed to make one request for the set list. If it was a solo gig, I'd ask my mum to play Big Yellow Taxi, if it was her band, I'd ask them to play Bad Moon Rising. This album brought back so many memories from those years, and while my hatred for folk music has disappeared, my love for this song and now album has remained the same.
First radiohead for this project, but was the second album of their's I listened to. I do like them, but have come to the conclusion that every radiohead song sounds better when Thom Yorke isn't the one singing it.
Ok, idk if this means I'm a sad virgin, but damn is this album good. I get why people don't like it but if we all liked the same thing life would be boring.
Rhythmically interesting, but everything else is just a bit bland, which I definitely didn't expect from a metal album.
Hell yeah, first Queen album of this project. Once again, incredibly biased they've been my favourite band since I was 4 and I genuinely believe they don't have a bad album, I've listened to them all.
Reading reviews I also agree that the fact that all three of the band's albums being on the list is a bit ridiculous. I'm hoping this one is the worst of the three though, shame I got it first.
This album is just deeply okay, not horrendous but not something I'd ever listen to again. Would have been happy giving it a three but it sounds unfinished in many places, the gaps in the middle of 7+min tracks give off the air of being still in the editing process.
Don't know why is such a lovely song, but everything else on this album is very forgettable
It's only just dawned on me why they're called Minutemen.... that's embarrassing on my part. Really good basslines, I love to learn some of them, but it's too long and too samey for me to give it a higher rating than this.
For an album that's just over 30 minutes long, it sure is dragging out. Not bad, but nothing too noteworthy. Though Sunshine of Your Love is really good. Anyway, fuck Eric Clapton for very obvious reasons.
Already listened to, and by far my favourite ABBA album, while voulez vous has some of my all time favourite songs on them, this is their most cohesive album imo.
Everytime I have to listen to another Led Zeppelin album, I start to wonder if this project is really worth it.
There is something almost delicious about the instrumentation on this album
I really love Blondie, so this is an incredibly biased review
Second Steely Dan album, can safely say not my thing
Have already listened to every beatles album, and this one probably ranks second behind rubber soul.
Sometimes I wonder what my life would be like if I didn't grow up listening to the beatles, they feel like a fundamental part of my childhood, thanks to my Granda being an og fan.
It has been years since I actually listened to the song Thriller as I was so freaked out by the spoken part in the middle as a child that I would flat out refuse to listen to it. It defo slaps tho
Could have been a three if I actually like Mick Jagger's voice
Pretty ok, though didn't appreciate being told I'd never find love 2 tracks in. Might have to blame my parents for liking the name :|
Electronica isn't really my thing, but this wasn't as bad as some others I've had to listen to for this list
I like sabotage and nothing else about this album. Not my thing
I like closer, and that's about it.
Favourite Taylor Swift album if I'm being honest, it tends to get overlooked by folklore. I don't love every single song (looking at happiness and long story short) and champagne problems is a tiny bit overrated, but the amount of love I have for pretty much all the other songs on this album overrule a lower rating than a 5 to me personally.
I fear it's just a little to repetitive for me. Sorry to my brother.
I love this album so much, to be fair trying to come up with something after rumours was an insane ask. First time I listened to it I had to keep replaying songs as I couldn't get enough of it.
Getting this album the day after Ozzy died (and maybe got reincarnated as Trisha Paytas' 3rd kid) is insane timing.
It goes without saying that Ella Fitzgerald had an incredible voice, unfortunately this compilation has such a wide range of tracks that it's impossible to give it anything other than a 3.
Mariah Carey has too good a voice to have such mid songs
When I was younger (early 2010s), I had a crush on this girl in my class. I just thought I really wanted to be her friend (seeing as I had no idea what a lesbian was at the time), so I thought I had to like everything that she liked.
She mentioned that Oasis was her favourite band, at first I was confused as the only Oasis I knew was the drink you get in the UK, so I lied and said I also loved them.
At this time, my information about music from before I was born (2004 if you want to feel old) came directly from what my parents liked. As you can tell, they fucking hate Oasis, and I can now officially say that I agree with them.
Not my favourite of the earlier stuff, but still better than Beatles For Sale
Genuinely one of the best albums I've ever listened to. It has my 2nd and 3rd favourite Billy Joel songs on it (Vienna and Scenes from and Italian Restaurant). Also so many songs on here the made me want to learn piano in the first place, which I am now incredibly grateful for. Too influential, on myself, to give it less than a five.
Yeah not loving the misogyny or the homophobia..... Like if you're going to put it in, make the rhyme worth it man
It's alright, but I would rather listen to R.E.M. than these guys if I had to pick between the two.
For a 35 minute album, the songs really do drag on a bit. And I'm saying this as a Bowie fan who loves Loving the Alien, Modern Love and the full length version of Ashes to Ashes.
I genuinely fucking hate this, really dissapointing
Was this what I wanted to hear at 8 am?No.
Would I have liked it better much later at night?
Also no
I know it's cliche, but this is genuinely a masterpiece. Definitely deserves to be on this list, but you knew that already
Was pleasantly surprised with this, I normally hate albums where most of the songs are under or around 2 min, but this proves to be the exception
If I have to hear a harmonica in the next decade, it will be to soon. My family are big Bob Dylan fans, but damn do I wish this could be an album of covers
I'm not in the mood to deal with the misogyny man
Very nostalgic, but over all a bit meh
Ok maybe brother is onto something.
