It’s Bob. You either like his stuff or you don’t. I don’t. If it was up to me, Bob’s music would disappear to be rediscovered in the future by an advanced society that would say: “Wot the fuck is this??? Perhaps it was a sleep aid? Bob’s whole career is a sleep aid for a generation. There is no human alive who could say Dylan’s music moved them or changed their life. This is a very Yin/Yan moment. I’m struggling to see any light. It seems unusually long for an album but that was just me wishing the whining would end. Lyrically I have more patience because several songs (not Mr Tambourine Man) are sharp observations and interesting which is why covers of these songs are so appealing- they highlight the quality of the songwriting. Mr. Tambourine man is a lowlight on an album filled with several of them. Notwithstanding Subterranean Homesick Blues, the album lurches into a mind numbing experience that makes dull look interesting. I know some professional critics have said that this album is one of the greatest albums of all time. It is not. Not by a long shot.

This a fine Bob Dylan album. I don't think it has nearly as many highs as something like Blood on the Tracks, but I guess we had to hear the first version of Mr. Tambourine Man. Best Songs: Subterranean Homesick Blues, Maggie's Farm, Mr. Tambourine Man Worst Songs: Gates of Eden

How much should I hold Bob's singing against him? I've hated Bob's music my whole life but I mostly hate everyone's singing. How much should I hold Bob's harmonica playing against him? It's not his fault he's not Junior Wells. How much should I hold Bob's lyrics against him? As I told a bandmate a few years ago (actually probably on the occasion of Bob's Pulitzer prize win) if you like words, read a book. How much should I hold Bob's fans against him? It doesn't seem he likes them very much either. I liked "She Belongs to Me" the most, probably because I can't remember hearing it before. SH Blues is a strong opener. Too many good covers of Maggie's Farm for me to want to throw that baby out with the bathwater. I'd be fine with deleting Mr. Tambourine Man from the universe.

First time I've listened to a Bob Dylan album. It was nice to hear it but I won't be listening to it again as his one note melody voicer began to grate towards the end.

I may have come to the conclusion that I don't dislike Dylan songs, just Dylan's voice. Them's cover of It's All Over Now Baby Blue is so much better than Dylan's version. Hendrix owns All Along the Watchtower. Plus The New Basement Tapes is extremely enjoyable.

What the hell is this guy talking about? Bob's a critically acclaimed lyricist though so I might be missing something but it was just way too much gobbledygook to wade through and try to decipher. 1.7 outta 5 and only because Mr. Tambourine Man is a certified hit.

I honestly couldn't really get into this album much at all. Even the most popular song, Mr. Tambourine Man, is not something I find interesting at all.

Although this album is made by supposedly one of the greatest songwriters of all time I can’t say that I enjoyed it. I did like how this album made me feel like I was driving by the country side but that was about the only positive I had. Many of the tracks had nearly the same guitar patterns and there was little to no variation throughout the project. My three highlight tracks were, Love Minus Zero, Mr. Tamborine Man, and It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue. I am disappointed to say that I probably will never give this one a listen again.

Not a Dylan album that I'm familiar with, and my jaw dropped when he came out of the gate firing trap house bars like Future on March Madness (albeit in a different key). The album kinda fell uneven from there though. I’m very on the fence about his voice (and harmonicas generally) and the lyrics range from clever to snidely artsy to actually cringeworthy. Also, maybe this is Spotify’s fault, but the audio felt very flat and in the high range. No warmth or bass/mid. Probably not one I’m going to be spinning again. But I enjoyed “It’s alright ma” and “Baby Blue” (along with the intro track).

Uh oh. The third circle of Bob Dylan's harmonica hell has revealed itself to me. Will I run away? Well, I can't do that. Will I fight back? That would be absurd. Will I ever understand his appeal? Probably not. Will I persist in my endless, Sisyphean struggle? That sounds like the best I can do. Here we are again. After Blonde on Blonde failed to strike a chord with me I've only really been waiting to get the next album of his out of the way. Here's his second album in the list chronology. It's possible that a step back in time will work, as Highway 61 had a song or two that I enjoyed. Guess I've nothing more to do than get into this one. This is okay. I'd delete the previous two paragraphs if only for the fact that I enjoyed writing that first one. I still think Dylan sucks majorly as a vocalist, though with the dreaded harmonica pitched down a few thousand decibels I can lean into the actual music a little more. Ultimately, the album heavily drags it's feet, though I can appreciate the more subdued, acoustic sound of this album in a way that I can't with his other offerings. "Subterranean Homesick Blues" is a solid opener. I knew this title was the basis for a Radiohead song, though I never would have guessed that the original was by Bob Dylan. In any case, it's a decent tune. I like the lay about energy with Bob Dylan's vocals, and the dopey lyrics lend themselves nicely to that performance. "On the Road Again" is a decent jig. I like the guitarwork, and the lyrics are pretty fun, too. "Mr. Tambourine Man" is another good cut. Again, the acoustic guitar performance is pretty decent, and the song is one of the better showings for Bob's vocals. Yeah. I mean, it's more Bob Dylan. His appeal still alludes me, though I can understand why he has seven of these things on the list. I'm gonna check the book... There's a whole lotta nothing in there. Moving over to Wikipedia reveals that this album was a big deviation from his established sound and has received unanimous critical acclaim. Seems like a decent pick - I can't fault this one.

Second Dylan album that’s come up for me, and this one doesn’t hit as much as Blood on the tracks. Stand out song: it’s alright, ma (I’m only bleeding)

I’m not sure if I don’t like Bob Dylan or if I just have to be in a certain mood for him. I one starred Highway 61 but listened to it months later and it wasn’t as bad. Today I didn’t enjoy this one but maybe on another day it might hit differently. I can only score it on today though.

I listened to this twice. I read the background on the album overall and on each song. I followed along listening with a copy of the lyrics. I tried really hard and whilst I think that it did increase my enjoyment of it, I just don't get what all the fuss is about with Bob Dylan.

There are some good songs in here, but the covers are better. The Bob Dylan voice isn't for me. 2 star on the basis that there are some ok songs in here.

i don't know, his songwriting is good but the voice and harmonica are so annoying. there are some decent songs like "it's alright, ma (i'm bleeding)" (ironic), but they are not that good at the same time. again, like "it's alright, ma (i'm bleeding)" does not have his annoying voice, but is so repetitive and boring, while others are just hard to listen, for example - "bob dylan's 115th dream" - such awkward intro and the voice is annoying as fuck. 2

For a split second I considered giving this 3* on account of the fact that I like the video of Subterranean Homesick Blues, and think the line “You don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows” might be one of the finest ever written. Hearing “Mr Tambourine Man” in its original construction also highlights what a delightful and beautiful song it is. But none of that changes the fact I just can’t get over the vocal style of Bob Dylan and, no matter how talented I can objectively say he is, I won’t ever enjoy his music or see how others can enjoy it.

There's four Dylan albums on this playlist, and at around 100 albums in, the generator has now given me three of them. I am cursing it. Just to prove I'm consistent, I will once again say I do not like his voice. It's like nails down a chalkboard. Musically, I liked the bluesy rocky bits like Outlaw Blues. I think this maybe the first time I've ever fully paid attention to Mr Tambourine Man and it's way longer than I thought - cutting out the pointless harmonica solo would have made me happier. I think I could potentially enjoy a Dylan album if you got someone else to sing it, but as it is: 2/5

Boring as shit. Better than other releases from this time (mainly because he finally chooses to sing on beat) but that doesn't save it from being forgettable slop. Mr. Tambourine Man has to be the dumbest concept of a song ever.

I'm a huge Bob Dylan hater and I think he's the most overrated artist of the last 50+ years but this was surprisingly tolerable. Can't stand the voice though; won't ever understand how anyone likes his music. 5/10

This sounds more like a b sides/rarities album. Some songs come in like they weren’t meant to be released as there was no real start to the song. Love minus Zero seems like a song that Dylan had the melody for but had no lyrics. You know what though? There’s no fault to that. At least not to me. I’m not even a Dylan fan but this album Ebbs and flows. 115th Dream is another melody without lyrics. To me. It mostly isn’t. That’s the “poet” Dylan I’d be told. I skipped it after 2 minutes. Gates of Eden, same trap. But I will say, at least he incorporated the song title into the song for this rambler. It’s alright ma, same thing. This album had me at first. Such a strong grip. It didn’t make me a Dylan fan but it had me. Then it dropped me. Like the Rock Giant and the Nothing. I slipped out of the such “big strong hands” of Dylan and went back to my world. Side note: Baby Blue is a Dylan song? Damn. I thought it was The Animals. Score one for Bob. Choice cut: It’s all Over Now, Baby Blue

I listened to this whilst doing some housework so wasn't paying full attention and thought I'd give it a four. I had time for another listen, full attention this time, and I thought I'd give it a two. I know Dylan's voice is pretty divisive. Despite finding him somewhat nasally and whiny, I actually quite liked it so that's a positive. The problem is, the tracks themselves repeat FAR too much. A lot of them follow the 'bluesy folk rock guitar, a lot of words, followed by a quick razz on the harmonica' formula which gets dull quickly. 'It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)' is a seven and a half minute track that does not change once. There's far too many words as if Dylan is jamming with himself trying to work out the words of his own song and it definitely goes on far too long. 'Outlaw Blues' is the best track on the "electric side" because it's a faster bluesy track that's a real foot tapper. The best on the "acoustic side" is 'Mr. Tambourine Man' but I also quite enjoyed 'Gates Of Eden' but it also suffers from the 'same thing repeated ad infinitum' like most of the tracks on the record do. I'm sure people connect with this more lyrically and that's fine, but I'm not too interested in learning the lyrics of songs I don't care all that much about. Not a great introduction to Bob Dylan for me. As I said before, it's better as background music when you aren't paying too much attention.

This would be the first time I have listened to an entire Dylan album, and it will be the last. I don't get Bob Dylan, I never have and have no interest in trying. I had heard a lot of this before and I managed to get through it, but he isn't my thing.

In the opening track Bob accidentally reveals the fraud, that a lot of us suspect, by actually writing an interesting SONG and then actually singing its melody without his (trademark, wholly unmusical, and irritating) bends, glissandos, and habit of abandoning the last note of a phrase. And he almost suggests that musicality might actually matter on this record by following that up with She Belongs to Me. But thereafter, he retreats into his fortress of I’m a Poet Who Wants to be Paid as a Songwriter habits. And, as a person who cares about music and is indifferent to song lyrics (brilliant language can stand on its own in print) it makes me disdain him even more. Perfect example of the root of my frustration - the two melodies in Mr. Tamborine Man are off the charts brilliant. But the beauty is suffocated by the need for a seventh fucking verse. (Don’t give me that four verse nonsense. He just realized that putting choruses between all seven was probably too audacious for even him.) Thank God for the Byrds.

This album is a big step up from Blood on the Tracks (or rather, the latter is a big step down from this). As an early album, I think Bob Dylan hadn't quite developed the horrible vocal affect that plagues his later work. I feel like the instrumentation is a lot more varied and interesting than I'm used to from Dylan. I genuinely didn't hate it, which is saying a lot. The last few tracks on the album start getting very annoying, which brings my rating down a star. Favorite tracks: Subterranean Homesick Blues, Maggie's Farm

Look I generally don't have a problem with speak singing, so long as that's what the artist is saying interesting things and they have a halfway interesting voice. Unfortunately, after listen to this, I am more convinced than ever that Bob Dylan has neither.

It's another Bob Dylan album, and my opinion hasn't changed. He's a great lyricist. He can tell good stories, he can sell a message well, he can add a bit of humor at the right times... But he's not a good singer, and he's not a good musician. And he clearly doesn't want to be. I'm open to simple folk songs, but there's a reason the majority of the versions that get play are covers.

I made it through almost 1/2 of the album and I knew some of these songs but definitely not my speed even growing up listening to Bob Dylan from my parents.

Have been trying to understand the Dylan hype for years, especially since I know he is the main inspiration for many of my all time favorite artists like for example Adam Granduciel (The War on Drugs). I still don’t get it. The tracks are very repetitive/similar, the lyrics are very dated and have not aged well and the vocal is really not doing it for me.

Most of this album just didn't interest me really, I guess I'm not super in love with Bob's choice of instrumentals or the general genre pallet, I think the more it leaned into blues or country is when I tuned out but songs like Bob Dylan's 115th Dream or It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding) manage to do a lot more for me and then I realize "hey maybe I do like Bob's songs but mostly the darker or weirder ones" and if that isn't indicative of my taste then I don't know what it is

I liked this better than the last bob we had. Can actually understand him a little more here and he doesn’t use the traditional “bob dylan voice” as much. I like the way his verses flow. His sing/talky way of moving through the song can be nice sometimes. I feel like he would’ve been a great Freddie Spaghetti of the 60s. I just really didn’t like it overall. Even though I’m a sucker for the harmonica, maybe like the recording systems they had back then just really make it sound so abrasive where it’s really not pleasing.

Never listened to a lot of Bob Dylan. I weirdly like him from the two albums we’ve listened to, but “Like a Rolling Stone” from the last album is the only actual song that I saved and want to listen to again. I find his voice endearing, but I just don’t care for the actual songs. We’ll see if we get a 3rd album.

Clearly an exceptional talent, the songs just do nothing for me. I know a lot of detractors take issue with his vocals and delivery, but that's not my issue. He just has failed to find a way to make me care. So far on my 1001 albums journey, spending time with an album and reading more about it usually brings greater appreciation for an artist I had a level of familiarity with but had never done a deep dive, and this is the first one I felt disappointed by. By reputation, Dylan should be delivering more. 2/5

I don't know, man, I just don't really like Bob Dylan. How did he get so far with a voice like that? Maybe because he has a voice like that? Lyrics are good, music is fine, production is ok. Then comes in that damn harmonica. Every chance he gets. I know there was a lot of controversy when he 'went electric' but it's literally the same thing he was doing before just with a telecaster. I mean there's just like an electric guitar in the background playing fills and turnarounds here and there. It's still buried under acoustic guitar and harmonica. That's not exactly going electric if you ask me. Why were people so made about this? It's more of the same. I don't know, some of the songs are actually pretty good, but I just don't like his voice and I hate the harmonica in general. 2/5

I like Bob Dylan, but this is easily his most overrated work. This album is a fucking mess - have no idea how this is considered one of the greatest rock history; it's really really shit. It wouldn't hurt to sing with some vocal range, instead of the same dreary whiney voice, Bob. Fuck me. "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue" really rescues this album.

I'm going to rock up to the Bob Dylan biopic in a fucking suicide vest I swear to god. 1001 albums you need to listen to in order to see how far music has come since the days of skinny losers and grifters. There is no way that a group of people listened to It's All Over Now Baby Blue and thought 'yeah mate, this is the best version of this song we could have done, nobody is ever gonna top this'. I think baby boomers only remember songs like Blowin' In The Wind, Hurricane and Like A Rolling Stone when it comes to Bob Dylan. Maybe this was just the only thing going in a musical landscape but upon checking the Billboard charts for the year this came out the same year as Help! and Out Of Our Heads that's obviously not true. Bob Dylan is a fine songwriter but as I have said before, I cannot take a whole fuckin album of this guy. Two and a half listens of this and I just can't shake the feeling that Dylan's music sounds like a homeless guy ranting set to music. Gates Of Eden onwards is a fucking slog on here good lord. Songs I enjoyed (didn't hold my head in my hands while listening) were Subterranean Homesick Blues, Outlaw Blues, Mr Tambourine Man.

I liked Mr. Tambourine Man and Gates of Eden. Mr. Tambourine Man reminded me of American Pie by Don McLean. Other than that, the genre of music and the tempo was not really my style. Calming music that made me sleepy.

I know this album has it's place in the history and the development of music but to me it was a little boring musically. Maybe if i liked Bob Dilan's singing it would be a better experience but to me his voice and the minimal use of other instruments other than a guitar was not enough. The only songs that i enjoyed were the faster paced blues songs like Subterranean Homesick Blues.

Second Dylan album and it didn't really change my first impression. It's too abstract at times, his vocals are not good at all and too much harmonica. That damned harmonica.

Another Dylan album. I liked this one better than the first one I listened to. This one had a bluesier sound to it. It was cool to hear Subterranean Homesick Blues. I'd only really listened to the RHCP version of it.

I have come to despise the harmonica due to listening to these Dylan records. I should just admit that I'm not smart enough to truly appreciate what he's doing. I read what others say about his work and I don't get it, so it is probably not him, it's me. I hope I'm done with the Dylan records on this list.

Mr Tambourine Man is the only song that sticks out on this album. Everything else is a bland jumble of the music of the era.

Despite having low expectations and preconceptions about Bob, this wasn’t actually too bad… until I got to the 6-minute dream song which I had to skip halfway through. The rest was reasonable though.

Not a fan of Mr Dylan, but have always loved subterranean homesick blues. Something to do with the meter and rhythm of the lyrics. And there were several tracks in the same vein musically. Then we get Maggie's farm, a track with a reputation to live up to. Unfortunately it is bloody awful. His voice is similar to Mr Young's in that it can be very hit or miss, and that was a mile wide of the target. Later we got Mr tambourine man, a song popularised by The Byrds. And to be fair I do have a certain fondness for this original version. But what followed was the worst of all. An incredibly poor attempt at a style of music that Roy Harper perfected. Overall not bad, but maggie's farm and the end dragged it down to a 2.

2.4 This album had a few classic Dylan songs such as Subterranean Homesick Blues, Maggie's Farm and Mr. Tambourine Man. Those tunes were good. Much of the rest of the album was repetitive and whiney. I don't think I would go back and listen to that album as a whole.

I liked how upbeat this was compared to some of his other works, but something about Bob Dylan's music just doesn't land for me.

Folks, I am a person who enjoys the blues, I promise. Nothing makes me happier than the sound of a harmonica. But give me my blues served up with a deep growl please. The three or four high pitched whiny notes that Dylan “sings” on this album darn near made my ears bleed long before the album was over. I don’t care how clever the lyrics are if it physically hurts to listen to them.

I might be spoiled with Beastie Boys' approach to the whole "I’m pretending I’m a badass cowboy criminal guy," since they take it to a very self-aware, exaggerated, and comical level. when Mr. Dylan here does the same sort of thing but without that level of laughing-at-yourself (aside from the opening of Bob Dylan's 115th Dream literally being laughter), it falls stale for me. always hard to make your mind separate classics from the line of work that followed them and not instead see the classic as just another album within that genre

Bob Dylan has written some great songs (Mr. Tambourine Man; It's All Over Now, Baby Blue). I just don't think he's the best performer. When "It's Alright, Ma" started playing, I could have sworn I had already heard it on this album. That's how similar Bob Dylan's songs sound. Also, that song is just too long.

The man can't sing and isn't much chop on the guitar either. I don't know what he's singing about and I'm not inspired to find out either. There are at least some decent songs here - when he strays from the folksie blues formula it gets better, but it's still got that harmonica cutting through everything like a machine gun of shit.

What a boring album, all the same melody, same blues feel without any highs. Mr tamborine man is the only highlight of the album, and even that is more nostalgia than actual interesting. Never really listened to Bob Dylan before, but it doesnt feel like a must listen from this album. Gates of Eden is absolutely not my thing

Beautiful songs, lyrics. And his voice just grates on my nerves.

Bob Dylan is overrated plain and simple. I have tried so many times to "get it." I don't get it. His vocals are awful. The music is essentially just standard blues progressions with a folk flavor. Nearly every song on this album is indistinguishable from the rest. I'll give 1 additional star for Mr. Tambourine Man.

bob dylan's music isn't my style, and that's ok. i won't rehash what i've said in other reviews--the exception being is that *omg* his damn harmonica is like a crutch! this album, though, has the typical dylan sound that we've heard before. anyway, dylan's greatest strength is found in his songwriting. this line from "it's alright, ma" is arguably one of dylan's finest: "that he not busy being born is busy dying." his lyrics can be so powerful! because there's not much musically to his songs (to the point where i'd call them bland but not derogatory), that allows his songs to be perfect cover material. there's a reason so many of his songs are covered to this day! his lyrics pack a punch and can be well adapted into completely different genres than folk rock and blues.

I'm not very big on lyrics generally. It takes a lot of repetition and concentration for me to get invested in what is being said. To me, production is very important and what keeps me hooked and stimulated. And this album (Dylan in general) doesn't have much variety in terms of production/sound.

Bob Dylan has always been an artist that I've wanted to like more than I actually do. I wasn't familiar with this particular album, but after listening I feel the same way. I think a big issue is how obtuse his lyrics are. Maybe if I had some connection to 1965 it would hit for me, but since I don't I just kind of generally don't know what the hell he's talking about most of the time. A harmonica can only take you so far.

WOW! Forgot how many great and classic songs are on this album. HOWEVER (and this is probably heresy), I could never really got into the "surreal" lyrics [e.g., I repeated that my friends were all in jail; With a sigh He gave me his card, he said "Call me if they die;" I shook his hand and said, "Goodbye;" Ran out to the street When a bowling ball came down the road And knocked me off my feet; A pay phone was ringing And it just about blew my mind; When I picked it up and said, "Hello" This foot came through the line]. Still can't do so. It would all be so terribly deep if only I were tripping on acid. No doubt a radical collection of tunes at the time (especially as he started going electric), but, IMO, the album doesn't translate to today. At least for me.

Didn't love it, found the song structure repetitive and pretty boring as well as the uninventive melodies. The lyrics were interesting enough i guess I just don't enjoy the metre in which he delivers them - its very samey and rambley. Maybe another one of his albums will tell me why everyone loves him so much and calls him a songwriting genius...

Är inte så familjär med denna musik, men det låter definitivt som nån country-blues. Ger lite Dire Straits-vibes. Varje instrument har oftast sin egna melodi/rytm vilket låter ganska bra när de kombineras, men under en hel låt händer det inte så mycket. Låter lite som om varje låt har sin egna chord-loop som bara repeteras genom hela låten medan Dylan berättar hans lilla historia. Detta kan funka, men det blir lite tråkigt ibland. Vissa av texterna är lite intressanta. Både Maggie's farm och On the Road Again handlar om nån tjejs vrickade familj, och båda var ganska kul. Bob Dylans 115th Dream var galen.

This album helped me realize that I am not a fan of the harmonica. Every once in awhile I felt like the harmonica was piercing through my skull and jamming up my brain. I did enjoy Bob Dylans 115th Dream the most since it had a story like feel to it. Very basic but still a journey. Would not listen to it again cause of the damn harmonica

This album was most definitely not my cup of tea. I think that he is a great guitar player and an excellent storyteller but for some reason this album just felt boring I don’t think I would listen to this again.

Couple classics but all around too nasley and not my taste.

Literally could be a 3 but that 7 minute song absolutely killed this record. Dylan is so overrated. I respect his style and audience but at the same time he mumbles nonsense. Shorten the album a little bit and it would have really surprised me.

This album did not age well. On the other hand, just listened to Desire and it's one of my favorite albums.

I'm not really the biggest fan of folk music but if its done well, It can be something I can quite like. Bringing It All Back Home, unfortunately, is not one of those. The songs kinda just blended together and all and all, weren't very interesting for me to listen to. I respect Bob Dylan don't get me wrong here. But just not my thing, the voice just grates me. I respect you Bob!! But I judt can't do it. So for that we start -1 star. As for the themes of the album, I enjoy. He was a young man here discussing young people concerns in the 60s. He really likes the name Maggie. On The Road Again is lyrically amazing.

Another Bob Dylan?! How many albums does he have on this list..? I don't dislike him but his music is not something I would choose to listen to. Also, not sure if this album is worse than the previous ones I got from him or if I'm just tired of listeng to him, but while the others got a 3, this is a 2.

It's another bland Bob Dylan album. I don't really get this guy

1. Subterranean homesick blues- good start to the album, very raw inatrumentals and vocals, very upbeat, not keen on the harmonica, love dylans vocals are on key with this one (liked the song) 7/10 2. She belongs to me- not too keen on dylans vocals on this one, but the lyrics are good, again just not too keen on that harmonica and found it quite boring 4/10 3. Maggies farm- loved the instrumental again very raw and upbeat nice vocals (bloody harmonica) did feel a bit repetitive 5/10 4. Love minus zero- love his vocals on this one, very sentimental lyrics, the instrumental goes really well with this one, very soft song that i would play on a date (liked the song) 6/10 5. Outlaw blues- loved the guitar, vocals on point, very upbeat 4/10 6. On the road again- harmonica was a bit much( i really don’t like harmonica lmao) nice guitar and drums though loved the lyrics, 4.5/10 7. Bob dylans 115th dream- loved the laughter and the halt of the song at the beginning, lyrics are almost telling a story that feels so real as you are following alone, really loved that, feels like his personal manifesto i actually didnt mind the harmonica in this one, the song did drag a bit (liked the song) 5.5/10 8. Mr. Tambourine man- liked his vocals, loved the acoustic, 4/10 9. Gates of eden- again nice vocals and brilliant acoustics and amazing lyrics did drag a bit and found it a bit boring- 4/10 10. It’s alright ma(i’m only bleeding)- didnt listen 11. It’s all over now baby blue- didnt listen Dylans vocals were on point and songwriting wise he is very talented however it was not my cup of tea and found that i was quite bored with the album. Wow, it's like that Weird Al Palindrome song. Over and over and over. Don't hate it, but the reedy goofy voice kinda grates after a while.

While listening to this, I thought to myself that I don’t listen to Bob Dylan; I endure him. Nevertheless, this was alright. It had a good pace throughout. I still didn’t really like it overall, though.

I’m just not a fan of Dylan. It’s hard for me to listen to him. This was almost tolerable so I’ll slide through as a 2. No playlist adds.

didn't blow me out of the water; not my personal taste but I can appreciate the lyric writing and musical elements of this album.

I understand music can often be made for specific occasions and in the case of rock n' roll its most often for dance. This album was more a collection of hit songs than a cohesive album. The stories, lyrics and delivery are sly and enjoyable in each song, but most of the songs share the same cadence and get repetitive in succession. Overall I don't think this album matches my tastes.

Ah, another Bob Dylan album. I get the acclaim for him as an artist but even though this album contains some classics like Mr Tambourine Man, it really lacks variety - it's all strumming, strange stories told through lyrics, harmonica solos and, what I found unreasonably frustrating, outros that just fade out. The latter as I say really irritated me for some reason, it felt incredibly lazy. Just finish a song with a flourish once in a while!

I don’t have much of a reaction to this. I have learned that I really don’t like harmonicas.

Another Dylan album comes up - at least this one starts with the one song I usually quite like by Dylan, unfortunately after that it all sounds like the stuff I can't be doing with, like it's a parody of what someone recons Dylan sounds like. Why would you want to hear a song just by a dude with a tambourine? And why would you then write a song about that, and make it go on for 5 and a half minutes, I just don't get it. There are a couple of points later on that manage to skew this but overall it's not for me.

Track 1: Subterranean Homesick Blues Is this supposed to be.. singing? He’s just sing talking. I don’t even know what he’s going on about. The lyrics are wacky and I guess they’re about obeying rules or something. Harmonica steals the show. Track 2: She Belongs to Me This song is about a woman that just stands out and is so independent, she’ll blow a man away with her spirit and energy. Sounds like this girl has a main character mentality. Harmonica once again steals the show. Track 3: Maggie’s Farm Bob Dylan doesn’t want to work for Maggie or any of her family members. What is the point of this song again? It’s so goofy but is probably the most enjoyable of the songs I have heard so far. Mr. Dylan doesn’t like working hard labor, I guess. I wish it was that easy, man. I feel like I’ve heard this song before somewhere.. Track 4: Love Minus Zero A love song about a woman that is just so perfect and sounds like a girl that doesn’t even exist. It’s way too disconnected from the lyrics to be genuine or sweet. Every single song sounds very similar. Basic guitar chords, harmonica solo, and some mediocre singing if you could call it that. Track 5: Outlaw Blues I am not sure what this song is about. This sounds a bit more funky than the other songs. Strumming is faster and is catchy but the lyrics are not good. Then he goes on about a “brown skinned girl” he has. Why did he have to include that? Track 6: On the Road Again Harmonica back at it again. This song is goofy-silly-funny-outrageous. It’s fine. Harmonica goes massively hard. Track 7: Bob Dylan’s 115th Dream Oh god why is this song SIX MINUTES long?! I don’t know if I can sit through this. The laughing fit at the beginning was contagious, i gotta admit. This song has the best storytelling. If you can keep up with the story though. I’m assuming this is about a dream he had..? Track 8: Mr. Tambourine Man This song is much more slow and soft. I like it. Track 9: Gates of Eden Idk what Bob Dylan’s going on about in this song, but it surely has nothing to do with the Bible. Maybe he’s talking about heaven perhaps. This song is boring. Track 10: It’s Alright, Ma (I’m Only Bleeding) Another 6 minute long song. It’s very sing songy without much singing. I like the lyrics. Sounds like hopelessness and he is singing to his mother about how he feels. Track 11: It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue This higher range singing is not very fit for his voice. It just sounds high pitched and irritating.

I am a massive folk fan and I absolutely recognize how amazing of a songwriter he is. I however hate Bob Dylan. I think almost every Bob Dylan cover is better than his originals. That is certainly the case here with "Mr. Tambourine Man" and "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue", easily the best two songs on the album. Both of them were done considerably better by The Byrds. Dylan's voice pre Royal Albert Hall concert is considerably better than after. But it is still just so nasally. And OH MY GOD put down the fucking harmonica once in awhile! After this list I will probably never intentionally play a Bob Dylan song again. This however does not deserve the one star that most of his other albums do.

obviously, Mr Tambourine Man is a banger, but this is a pretty slow album and folk isn't high on my list.

I like the opening track and was hoping for a similar theme for the album but this time in history must have been truly miserable if Bob Dylan was considered groundbreaking. Rambling, monotonous lyrics coupled with a droning melodies and an attempt to reduce to the monotony with a one size fits all harmonica solo. God awful, boring and truly miserable.

Good transition between his early folk and electro r&b/rock n roll. I prefer "Highway...", "Blonde..." and "Nashville..." 2.75 because although it can see it's good, I hardly ever listen to it.

As far as Dylan's album go, this is not the worst. The lyrics are great as usual, however it lacks everything else. The melody, voice, and harmonica are repetitive, so enjoy it in small doses unless that's your jam.
