You can really hear classic Micheal. The disco beats mixed with the classic R&B vibe really create a cohesive listening experience.

I have been a fan of this music since it was new. Listening again, I enjoyed every song.

I have loved this album since I was a child when I had it on 8-track. It still holds up for me!

For my money, the best Michael Jackson album. Smooth, nonstop dance party in front; lush and smooth jams in the back… from a simpler time.

Fun and classic

This is the King of Pop starting to find his feet. Only those feet are covered in platform shoes. Not quite ready to moonwalk through into legend. Some of this album showcases how MJ could surpass the trappings of a genre and redefine it--most of it holds to the aged disco aesthetic. Unfortunately, I'm not a big disco fan.

Absolute classic

Great pop album, not a huge fan of ballads tho

All horrific accusations aside (yes, I know, bad start)... this album is just tight. Shouts out to Louis Johnson, who played bass on this record, for putting the entire thing on his whole back. Jesus Christ, just listen to the bass line in "Get On the Floor" and tell me that's not magic. The whole album is a bit frontloaded with the party jams, but the wide variety of genres is refreshing. Favorite tracks: "Get On the Floor", "Don't Stop Til You Get Enough", "Off the Wall"

Not a big fan. He made some really good music, but for the most part, it isn't on this album. I guess it's significant because it's his debut solo album. It wasn't bad, it's just too much a product of the time.

7/20/2022 - ALBUM #174 Today's Album: "Off The Wall" by Michael Jackson - This album just sounds so fucking good. That is seriously the most fitting opening sentence to this review; this album is simply that good. As someone who was big into Michael Jackson’s catalog as a kid, I think this album is the peak of his talent as a musician and was close to his peak as a performer. The production is top notch, the songwriting is some of Michael’s most eccentric and creative, and the vocal performances exceed not only in vibrancy and clarity, but in range as well. The bass is unmatched in funkines, the percussion is varied and constantly locked into time, and the variety of auxiliary horns and strings perfectly fill up the sound. Every track on this album is fundamentally built for the dance floor, making a try-not-to-tap-your-toes challenge of this album pretty much impossible; The grooves are just too infectious. Everything just sounds so fucking good too, with the clarity and space given to the instruments giving them this really echoey, spacey, vibe to them and makes it feel like you are experiencing this music in a pure vacuum from the outside world; It sounds otherworldly. I would go over the tracklist of this album to try to explain why it’s so good, but when I tried to do so it felt redundant to type over and over how flawless and enjoyable each track is. All I can say is that the flow from track to track makes it feel like this album is never declining in quality, but instead always matching itself or going one step further. Overall, this album could do so little to improve upon itself. It’s an achievement for Michael Jackson, but it’s even more so an achievement for disco music and black music as a whole. It feels impossible for any of these songs to get old with how much is packed into every second. Give this one a listen. Please just do it. Highlights: Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough, Rock With You, Workin’ Day and Night, Get on the Floor, Off the Wall, Girlfriend, She’s Out of My Life, I Can’t Help It, It’s the Falling in Love, Burn This Disco Out Score: 9.3/10 THE BEST disco album. Bland MJ pop, feels like late 70s. Some decent production. Heard the bassline sampled for Breakadawn by De La Soul on I Can't Help It.

Titan of musical talent and prowess! Perfect listening for a Friday! I'll never get any work done because I can't stop dancing. I just love it, it's the epitome of disco fun and funk. It's the falling in love with this album all over again that's making me high... ooo ooo oo!

its not thriller but the first couple of songs make it pretty clear how he got there

Disco at its best, a bunch of absolute bangers on this one. Some of the B sides are pretty forgettable though. I’m in the camp that Thriller is the better overall album.

I enjoyed it! Short and sweet. Funnily enough I found Off the Wall one of the weakest songs in the album.

Heard before: no (just a few songs) Quincy Jones' production is so recognisable. In fact, the grooves/lyrics would be too repetitive if not for the amazing production and arrangements. Great rhythm section, bass is good, horns are crisp, violins are smooth. Again, a little repetitive, but it's disco - it's for dancing. Favourite songs: Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough, Off the Wall, Burn This Disco Out. Least favourite: Girlfriend

A classic.

One of the first albums I remember hearing as a child and it never gets old. Fantastic 'pop' music, although the album spans a number of genres without missing a beat. The title track has been on pretty much every playlist I've made!

As polarizing as Michael Jackson may be at the moment (when is he not be such?), you cannot deny that his music has become part of our DNA. The very idea of popular culture is centered around the then-living King of Pop and three albums support that theory very much. Off the Wall is the first of those albums. Made during the height of the disco era, Off the Wall finds Michael honing and refining his skills after years of maturing under the spotlight. This album is all killer, no filler from beginning to end and it is a effective teaser for what was to come later on. If we only knew...

I'm not the biggest fan of disco music and therefore I both prefer MJ's early Motown stuff as well as his later pop hits along the lines of Thriller. That said, this is still a very good album and I enjoyed having it on.

I know this is sacrilege but after the first track I just wasn't that interested.

I accept that Thriller had to be part of the 1001. I get it. But this bad boy? C'mon. Give your head a shake.

This was very good, until it wasn’t. There are 10 songs so this is easy to rate. It kicks off with a bang with Don’t stop, and doesn’t let up with some great pop-funk for the next 5 songs. But then he falls off a Cliff with four maudlin saccharine coated dirges. He manages a slight redemption with the last song, Burn this Disco Out. It’s just too bad that he couldn’t maintain the quality of the first 6 songs.

Aantal nummers zijn echt briljant, maar bij deze plaat heb ik eigenlijk maar zelden het einde gehaald om eerlijk te zijn.

Hoewel ik meer van Thriller en Bad was en nog iets te jong voor deze plaat, heb ik het later zeer kunnen waarderen. De openingstrack heb ik vaak op feestjes en muziekavonden gedraaid. Altijd gegarandeerd succes. Maar de rest van de plaat is minstens zo goed.

Hele toffe nummers, afgewisseld met iets te zoetsappige nummers. En Michael zorgt inmiddels ook wel een beetje voor een wrange bijsmaak.

Ik laat de man zelf even buiten beschouwing. ‘Workin day and night’ is favoriet.

Phenomenal album. You can’t not move to these tracks.

Enjoyed the start - it's familiar stuff, but the album ceased playing after about the half way point.

Banger pop-album, hits, vild vokal, giver en lyst til at danse

Je suis tiraillé sur cet album. Je l’aime beaucoup et l’écoute plusieurs fois par année. Par contre, il y a beaucoup de fromage dedans, surtout dans les ballades qui sont franchement quétaines. Autrement, c’est excellent, bien arrangé, ça groove en fou et j’adore les cuivres.

Ça groove. Étrangement, c'est ma première écoute complète de cet album. Ce n'est pas les chansons les plus mémorables de Michael, mais ça s'écoute bien (sauf peut-être Girlfriend 😅) et c'est les bases pour ce qui suivra. La production est superbe. Pas mal certain que ces orchestrations avec cette groove sont à l'origine du son de Jamiroquai (la comparaison est facile et instantanée en entendant Get On The Floor et I Can't Help It). Don't Stop 'Tel You Cet Enough et Rock with You sont des incontournables à connaître. Ça ouvre l'album de façon assez solide. Dans la pièce Burn This Disco Out, j'aime beaucoup la petite mélodie que la guitare fait en arrière. Donc pas un album qui j'ai envie d'écouter en boucle, mais à l'occasion, ça se prend bien et c'est définitivement un album à avoir écouté une fois.

Great album. More disco than I remember. But also a portent of things to come.

At the risk of sounding culturally inept, I didn't know that the heavy hitters that begin this LP were by Michael Jackson (though the vocals and production flair should have made this obvious in hindsight). While these early tracks wow, the energy definitely decays across the remainder of the album as things drift into Muzak territory. There aren't enough novel melodic ideas or song structures on the back half to spark interest, so the overall enjoyment droops as the LP runs.

I mean, he is the King of Pop.

7th May 2022 Listened in the morning. Worked from home and chilled in the evening doing moving emails. Average day. Difficult to divorce the music from the person with this one. Undoubtedly disco classic but complicated. I’m going to focus on the music with the rating.

Most of the songs feel like the one. I mean there's e difference between them. But still there are also some slow and simple melodies, and they are so pleasure for your ears.

I agree with the majority view here - 1st side of the album is incredible, 2nd half is awful!

a step before thriller

This was pretty great, actually! Perversely sounded way less dated than "Bad" because it wasn't using synths. If there weren't a couple of overly saccharine ballads I could have stretched to five stars. Fave track - "Don't Stop 'Till You Get Enough", for sure...

Very strong opening wooo! It immediately has me moving. This album is a masterpiece, at least Side A. Very of its time but absolutely still fun to listen to today. Oh Michael. Why?

She's Out of My Life is a horrendously sappy ballad, but everything else is pretty great!

The disco tracks are 5/5 alltimers, the slower pop songs are predictably sexless and bring the album down.

I will give this a 4 despite the second half being much weaker than the first. "Girlfriend" and "She's Out of My Life" kills the mood a bit for me, but I have to concede that the first side is some of the best disco pop you'll ever hear in your life.

The first half is pretty awesome but then it gets quite boring and cheesy (in a bad way). Not my favorite from the King of pop, but still very good

Unfortunately, I had never heard this Michael Jackson and after just one listen, I think it became my favorite. Incredibly groovy bass, sensational horns and quite sophisticated synthesizer on a few tracks make it a very developed pop album.

Louis Johnson is a beast.

I wasn't a big Michael Jackson fan growing up, though I do love Thriller, how can you not. Some good songs and some not so good ones. I've listen a few times but outside of the big hits I don't love it.

Quincy and the musicians get a 5 for this record. The songwriting is… well, they’re disco songs, so a 2. Jackson’s vocals are fantastic but he was a creep, or became a creep and that’s hard to look past. Averaging all that out, including weighting the categories… carry the one, divide by the total…

King of Pop starts here!

Gran disco de pop disco. Animado y divertido

One of the first of many solo albums of Micheal Jackson. Still young, but not a child, this album is able to meld disco, funk , a dash of jazz, and a little early techno. Quite an achievement. While the monster hits are Don't Stop Till You Get Enough and Rock With You, much of the album will not disappoint. Off The Wall are any other musicians A sides but if there are B sides on this album Off The Wall, Girlfriend, and I Can't Help It are those. Track seven shows there rarely seen vulnerability of Micheal as his star began to shine white hot. Great album.

I mean, it's Michael Jackson. A really great, funky album that hits the highs of 'Thriller,' but doesn't maintain them as well. The last few songs on this album were just okay and it sort of detracted from the overall experience.

(separating the artist from the art) First few songs are great. Starts off real strong, but the latter 2/3 is mediocre. It's listenable as background music, that's about it. Nothing particularly interesting.

This album feels like 2 different albums between the 1st and 2nd halves. The first half is iconic. The second.....is fine. I always have a bit of a gross feeling listening to MJ because the guy creeped me out.

Ich stehe null auf disco deswegen find ich das hier echt lahm. Spare mir das Lob für Thriller und Bad

Positiv überrascht von der ersten Hälften, das sind richtig coole Disco Pop Nummern mit catchy Bassläufen und allem was sonst noch dazu gehört. Leider leidet das Album dann am typischen B-Seiten Syndrom, wo irgendwie gefühlt nur filler sind. Bei Girlfriend (allein schon der Titel..) hat man das am meisten gemerkt. Am Ende kam dann aber nochmal ein funky Kracher, rundet das ganze dann doch auf. Ist voll schade dass sowas die Album Experience immer ein wenig schmälert! Gefällt mir trotzdem richtig gut sonst, denke auch besser als so ein popigeres Thriller. (Ich bin mal gnädig mit der 4)

First time listening to MJs music before it became ultra pop. Really enjoyed it, the music is so precise and matches his vocals in terms of ability. Some real bangers here, full of delightful bass lines and strings that ain't got no business being that infectious. The only thing for me is that a few tracks just fell off or missed the mark and became indistinct. Perhaps that is just me associating him with being the king of pop rather than a disco dynamo. Perfectly good pop/R&B/disco album, if very much of its time, that I wish I liked a bit better than I do. But Michael was undeniably respectable as the king of pop before he mutated into the king of WTF...

A perfect case for this list. I had no idea he was like all disco for this debut album. The man had endless talent for arrangement and melody. Lots of booty shakers and lovely ballads. And those bass lines…

The laddie can clearly sing, in whatever style he/his people want. Ranges from disco to balladry, with hints of funk and rock. First two tracks were the big singles, but she's out of my life and the title track were more enjoyable for me.

An amazing record that really shows why Michael Jackson is one of the most popular artists of all time. The level of detail put in the production of each song is quite incredible, everything sounds so clear, its beautiful.

There's so much baggage that comes with MJ now. These are catchy pop songs but all i can think about is what he became.

I have to separate the man from the music. Michael was the first artist I ever got "into" when I heard Bad when I was around 7. He is the King of Pop and for good reason. This is a good album but not my favorite.

It's tough to separate the art from the artist. But he was only 20 when he made this, which is kind of incredible.

Don't Stop Til You Get Enough is pretty explosive. Rock With You is another one. Off The Wall is buttery smooth. Damn this whole album is a pop disco masterpiece.

Not really my genre, but nonetheless I was VERY impressed. Lots of really interesting, funky, groovy moments. Lots of talent. I’ve heard tons of stuff like this from the 80s, but from what I’ve listened to none were able to rival this. Many imitators and wannabes that wished they could have made this album.

Genre: Disco 5/5 I mean, good grief. Imagine 1979: a DJ slaps the new MJ record on, and spins it in its entirety for a packed dance floor. The people must’ve lost their fucking minds. MJ and Quincy Jones team up to make the blueprint for a Disco/Pop record, and a blueprint that Michael would take from himself later to make Thriller, a better album than this if you could imagine. From top to bottom, this thing is loaded with BIG hits, smooth production, tremendous playing, and amazing singing from Michael. He floats on top of everything he performs on, and this is the first major leap in his solo career that showed the listening public that he was here to stay. He may not have been The King of Pop yet, but this is damn close to anything else he made in the future. A top tier album. An essential listen.

It’s all toe tapping, dance floor friendly classics (with the exception of the dreary She’s Out Of My Life) and Quincy Jones bring his A game to make an entertaining lush sound for MJ’s really quite astonishing vocal stylings - the breathy grunts and clicks influenced pop music forever, lending what is essentially throw away music the impression it is coming from an emotional place, so emotional that sounds will do better than words. And it works!

A near perfect pop dunk disco album. Forever changed R&B. A timeless classic that sounds both old and modern at the same time. Has aged really really well. A super fun listen.

This album showed signs of what Michael Jackson was about to be however some of the songs still showed him as a younger pop singer. This album is still good and it’s a more funky slow burn album. 7.1/10

Great disco, soul and funk sounds, a classic and one that I definitely want to go back to

Did I enjoy it? Yes. Would I listen to it again? Probably not. The story of Wacko Jacko is ultimately a very sad one. His huge wealth of talent was pushed forward by a work ethic probably quite literally beaten into him as a child. His music industry connections, the people who stood to make money from him, pushed that forward to his personal detriment. His internalised racism and disturbing, just plain wrong attitude toward and treatment of children may well have existed outside of his wealth. He may well have become a drug addict; so many Americans did through the mis-prescribing of opioids. But ultimately, one can't help but focus on the negative, even while enjoying the vast talent, enthusiasm and hard graft that went into Jackson's career. How much of his ouvre was his own talent and work? A lot of it. But the weaker tracks on this album show that it takes more than a talented front-man to make something great. The great tracks on album are great. But they're a combination of great talents in all aspects. A great front-man alone cannot compensate for mediocre material.

Various ballads and dance numbers addressed to anonymous women, but the real love affair is between Jackson and Quincy Jones. The comingling of their vocabulary of sighs, squeals, squeaks, grunts, groans, classical strings, fairydust synths and, of course, mesmeric drums is as essential to the music of the last 40 years as James Brown. Most ironic title: Don't Stop Til You Get Enough. There is no 'enough'.

I give it a 7. It’s a great album with some really good songs, if you can get past what an awful human he was.

Pakirala sam kofer dok sam slušala ovaj album. Neću lagat bilo je čaganja i moonwalkanja. Jako zabavan i kohezivan album na kojem se osjeća mladenački duh Michaela. Odma vidiš koliki je utjecaj imao na pop glazbu i koliko taj današnji 80's revival zvuči baš kao ovaj album. "It's the falling in love" je JAKO groovy.

Prva stvar je klasik, tu nema govora. Disco glazba, jednostavan žanr koji logično ima svrhu, a to je da raspleše raju. Rijetko kad će mi disco album bit odličan, nisam toliko lud za tom vrstom glazbe, al je dobar. (taj dio albuma), ostatak dosadan i meh.

Tää musta Michael Jackson on ihan jeppiskamaa. Hyvää ja menevää tanssipoppia. Rock with you on tietysti se hittibiisi, mutta muutenkin kokonaisuudessaan vahvaa suorittamista.

Taas kerran kiinnostava levy artistilta, johon olen tutustunut enimmäkseen hittibiisien perusteella. Jacksonilla olen normaalisti pitänyt eniten vähän rauhallisemmista kappaleista, joissa hieno lauluääni pääsee oikeuksiinsa. Valitettavasti tällä levyllä pääroolissa on juustoinen discofunkjumputus. Tämän levyn ennalta tutut hittibiisit (Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough, Rock With You) ovat hieman väljähtäneitä, ja oikeastaan kaikki nopeat biisit noudattavat samaa kaavaa. Kaunis "She's Out of My Life" erottuu joukosta positiivisesti, vaikkei sekään yllä Jacksonin hienoimpien slovarien tasolle. 2,5.

Not as good as the more idiosyncratic Thriller, Bad and Dangerous, the shackles of motown and disco are yet to be thrown off but still one hell of debut with some absolute classics.

Not quite the 5* I thought it was: forgot how much of a drag the ballads/slower songs can be in the second half. But the rest are absolute jams.

The best of this album IMO: - Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough - Rock With You - Get On the Floor - Off the Wall - I Can't Help It (the beginning made me realized that it was sampled by De La Soul for "Breakadawn"...!) A classic!! Let's dance! Let's groove! When the album ended I was like "That's it?" Needed to be longer. But it was juicy. 4.0/5

Still sounds very slick and modern. Pre vocal-tic MJ – the guy could really sing! Plus some tunes I'd never heard before that shoulda been singles. This was a surprisingly pleasing experience.

Never been a big fan of Michael's music, though I acknowledge that he was very talented. If I had to listen to one Michael Jackson album it would probably be this one. More of a Motown-y feel that some of his later work. 3 stars.

I’ve never listened to any non-top hits Michael tracks, and I guess this is why. Other than the first two tracks this was a fairly non descript soft disco album, which is fine but I was expecting a bit more wow factor. My top pick is of course ‘Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough’

All the funky dance songs are some of the best tunes of all time. All of the melancholy ballads are embarrassing. Thankfully the balance is more towards the former, but the latter really take this thing down a bit.

Listening to Off the Wall after Bad is... weird. There are some classic disco-adjacent jams on this record. More Quincy Jones magic. Again, the session players are top-notch.

This is one of those LPs that is always on your backlog somewhere to dive into "some day." And then when you do, you realize you've been listening to this album your whole life. It's full of MJ cuts that are seered into the fabric of anything R&B, funky or soul that has appeared for 40+ years after Michael Jackson burst out of the family and into the universe with this album. It's a vibe, an atmosphere. You won't get your mind blown but you're dancing and you don't care.

As a kid I was a massive fan of Michael Jackson during the Thriller period, and also listened to the successor Bad quite a lot, but never gave the predecessor and break-through album Off the Wall too much attention, except maybe for the amazing opening track. Upon this revisit, I really appreciated the overall production (Quincy Jones) and execution of the songs. There are some really good, catchy, songs on here (e.g., the opening track, the title song, and I Can't Help It), but also several songs that are less captivating (e.g. Girlfriend and It's the Falling in Love). In my opinion, Thriller is still a significant step up from this album, so I'll leave it at 4 stars.

Brought back some memories of listening to this album over and over and over again as a kid. The first half is still pretty amazing, but it falls off sharply starting at "Girlfriend". "She's Out of My Life" is ok, but is a little cheesy as well. Still solid album.

Replete with violins. Kind of a wall of.sound,.pretty lush. High production values. Wouldn't pick it by choice.

i loved off the wall

Well, the album started off strong, but then it all started to sound the same. I can absolutely understand songs like "Don't Stop 'Till You Get Enough' and 'Rock With You' being on lists of 1001 songs you must hear, but as an entire album, it's hard to see. In fact, I noticed this first with when listening to Bad and I'm picking up on it again here, but this album also feels more consumable in pieces as opposed to trying to listen to the whole thing in one sitting. I do think that 'I can't Help It' redeems the latter half of the album, from being mostly forgettable. My tastes aside, it's undeniable that this album was massively influential on countless artists, so for that alone, I can't really bring myself to rate it below a four. In this case I think the album is great, less for what I hear in the music, then for what most people hear in the album.

Well I'm not sure I've ever listened to a MJ album start to finish, so many bangers on this. I'm assuming MJ is now cancelled, but I do believe in separating the art from the artist and this album was very very good.

Pretty solid album. I hate She’s Out of My Life.

Such a strong start with Dont Stop and Rock with You, but the rest of the songs start to sound the same. Gets a 4 bc they are good and as Tom put it, some of the albums on this list are much more questionable, but really a big name artist 3.

Not as great as thriller, but another killer album from Micheal Jackson. I'd say you could get away with only one of his albums, but taking this one off with so much other garbage on the list would be an insult.

He is not the king of pop without reason. His sound is still pop and still fresh even after more than 30 years. Not generic pop music, but a really great mixture of jazz and soul music that is extremely catchy! I'll give it 4 stars because I know that is not the best of MJ yet, but it's a great album.

Absolute Classic MJ. I have never previously listened to this album but there were several songs that are so ubiquitous that you can't not have heard them. Funky disco vibes throughout and mellowing towards the tail end of the album. Best: Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough; Rock With You Worst: It's The Falling In Love

I've heard so many of these songs before in the background, but I've never listened to them seriously. Glad I did.

Ever since that documentary a few years ago, it’s been really hard for me to hear any of his songs without feeling really uneasy. That being said, it’s impossible to deny the bangers on this album.

Solid album. Bass line on Girlfriend rips.

What a great album. Eternally great songs, perfect production and vocals. I think the album is most successful when Jackson/Jones lean into the era and embrace the disco. The dance songs ("Don't Stop," "Off the Wall," "Workin' Day and Night," "Get on the Floor") are the best on the album and still considered to be classics, while the popier love songs ("Girlfriend," "It's the Falling in Love," "She's Out of My Life") fall a little flat. "Rock with You" splits the difference and is just sweet and fun to listen to. Fave songs: Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough, Rock With You, Workin' Day and Night, Get on the Floor

Listening to older Michael Jackson albums between The Jackson 5 days and Thriller is pretty interesting

Starts waaaaaay to strongly, the album after Rock with You is not bad (HAH!) but is not as good as Don't stop til ya get enough and Rock with You. Very solid release but weaker than the later output I assume.

looking at the tracklist, 'it's the falling in love' is a fave of mine and it has the least streams lol. i wonder if i've listened to all these songs on the radio or smth, let's see. never cared abt the first track. 'rock with me' is probably my favorite single of his. idt i've heard most tracks before. well i'm done, songs new to me were either meh or just fine, except 'i can't help it' which was really nice. fave songs: rock with you, i can't help it, it's the falling in love. idk i feel like it's really good but it didn't do that much for me.

Amazing energy in the start. Bit more melancholic towards the end, but still very nice. The quality of the recording is amazing. Overall really good album.

in 1979, this was THE album. in 1980 it was STILL 'THE' Album. Everyone thought he would never top it. Well, he did. But, this is still a classic. Solid FIVE stars.

The start of Jackson's incredible run of albums, and one of the landmarks of the disco era besides Bad Girls and Saturday Night Fever. All tracks are bangers, thanks to Jackson's extension use of falsetto to excite the audience. The album is full of bangers due to this attribute, with the first side aiming to get listeners on the dance floor, and second feeling more like the after-party (except the closing track). Favorite tracks are, no shocker, "Don't Stop...", "Rock With You", and "Off the Wall". Maybe because I'd been rocking to them growing up. But it doesn't stop there with funky innovation sound and production as in "Girlfriend" that further define the disco era.

I was wondering when good old MJ was gonna show up here. Don't Stop Til' You Get Enough-Oh, so thats what this song is called! I've heard it before, that familiar melody string, did not know it came from MJ tho. Rock With You-I liked the main tagline, (title of the song) Workin' Day and Night-Hyperactive kinda song. Snazzy jazzy is how I'd describe this. Get On the Floor-Funky Disco vibin. Got the foot tapping beat to it. Really feeling the disco funk genre this album's got. Off the Wall-Title track. I can definitely hear the mix of disco, funk, pop and touches of R&B in there. Cool disco? Head bopping type beat. She's Out of My Life-wait, apparently this is the actual title track. Huh. what a drastic departure from the disco pop funk tunes the past few songs have been. Feeling the Blues part of R&B real strong here. I liked it. It was different, melancholy but sweetish sad. Girlfriend-Lot more upbeat than the last one. More rhythm than blues now. It's the Falling in Love-Feeling the love (heh) for this one. It has like touches of all the genres in there with a light, poppy beat. Burn this Disco Out-I like that backing...bass? Funky fresh. Good shit. would listen to it again.

Absolute tosh. 2 stars and I’m being generous because I’ve had one too many tennents tonight and I might have a baby on the way. Otherwise I’d literally be eyeballing the 1 star. I get how people dig it, but he definitely got better after this. This album is shit.
