Reviews (page 13 of 14)

1. Blitzkrieg Bop I know it from spiderman, it was good in that movie and great on its own. the sound is super fun 2. Beat on the Brat Good, but extremely repetitive 3. Judy Is a Punk Liked it, repetitive but doesnt really feel like it 4. I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend Dont like it, a bit too mellow and once again, repetitive 5. Chain Saw its pretty fun, but i cant get over the way they say massacre 6. I Dont Wanna Go Down to the Basement i like the music, the lyrics i just dont get 7. Loudmouth At this point im kinda getting sick of the album. the repetition of lyrics and musical progressions is becoming really grating 8. Havana Affair I think alot of their songs would benefit from being about a third of the length 9. Listen to my heart This song has 7 different lines. this song is 80% repeats 10. 53rd & 3rd holy moly I think i would have liked this song if it stoped at the minute and 50 second mark Didnt finish the album, not a fan. i honestly think this made me far more appreciative of the criticisms people have of punk. I think i would listen to any of these songs individually and enjoy them, but the album as a whole contains everything i dislike in an album: no build up of music, sound, and lyrics, it feels more like a compilation of songs than a peice of art genuinely designed to tell a story, and far, far to repetitive. I really thought i would enjoy this so im quite sad

I didn't like punk much in the 70's. Nothing has changed, all too shouty for my taste.

Certainly groundbreaking but i find it monotonous and too long

This is a fun album. Is it a good album? Not really, but it’s fun. The same drums and vocals are throughout this whole album and it’s almost like one 29 minute long song. Maybe id give it a 3 if I didn’t already listen to this album this year already, it’s not the sorta album to listen to more then once in your life

Influential and important, but not necessarily good. Starts off solid but its pretty samey and towards the end the performances become less exciting and the vocals rougher. Sorry to all the punkheads who think its the best album ever :((

I like punk. All of it sounded the same though.

Almost every track had the same sound as the previous one on this record. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it sure does get boring quickly. Favourite Track(s): Blitzkrieg Bop, Judy Is a Punk Least Favourite Track(s): I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend, Chain Saw

1. Bop - 2 2. Beat - 1.5 3. Punk -1.5 4. Boyfriend - 1 5. Chain - 1.5 6. Glue - 1.5 7. Basement - 1 8. Loudmouth -1.5 9. Havana - 1 10. Heart - 1.5 11. 3rd - 1 12. Dance - 1 13. Walk - 1.5 14. Love - 1.5

I am honestly kind of tired of the hype punk has around it, can't seem to find the importance that people give to the message of the songs and the fight against society, or whatever

It's fine! I get that it's like the Ramones or whatever but oh my god every single song sounds the same! The singing is very frog like which I don't love. They're all upbeat but it sounds like 30 mins of the same song over and over. I really can understand where the song length comes from, they were a club band, performing for 20 mins of straight sound! It kept the crowd engaged! But I'm not a teen in NYC in the 70s at a club show. I'm a grown woman in 2025 in my dining room. Seeing them live, seeing them at the time they were revolutionary, and listening to this album now are different things. I just don't think it's held up the way other albums have. The first song is good and really well known and that's cool. But like... otherwise? I truly don't get the hype for this album. I really think everyone just knows that the Ramones are "cool" so they like this album because they think it's cool. Which like... was this historic for the time? Sure!!! And that's super great. But the first pancake isn't always the best pancake and that's okay.

i don't really like the vibe of the album. the sound is quite hard to hear, even when the sound is louder than the background track. most of the instrumentals are repeats of the last song and it didn't give a sense of new songs, instead just a long song with some pauses in the middle.

1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die: 13/1001 The simplicity of this album makes it great. It's such a raw garage punk band sound. It's truly nothing special but is boppy enough. It's kind of stupid but not bad. Not sure I'll be listening again, but glad I did once. For 30 minutes, whatever Podium: 1. Blitzkrig Bopp 2. Judy Is a Punk 3, Kusteb to My Heart Gotta give it a 2/5 overall. It was engaging but sub-par without being bad ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It was okay but felt REALLY repetitive. My fav song was I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend. That one I actually liked a lot.

Not as good as I'd have liked

Not good

Quite repetitive in both lyrics and riffs. No need to relisten to this because I heard the same song 14x. 2 star

Oh THAT’S the blitzkrieg bop lol hey ho lets go not a huge fan of their style of vocals… some fun quick bops though glad i listened but idk just really not for me 45/100

Ramones? Isn’t that one of the early punk bands who had cultural impact but who’s music is not comprehensible in hindsight? Does this need 1h of wikipedia reading to enjoy? Oh it sounds like a school band. Guitar plays the same 3 chords throughout the album. The base player stays on the chord base always. The drums are base/snare in stupidly. The singer sings with the same voice. So it seems this is not about the music but the message. So let’s read wikipedia then. After 15m reading of wikipedia: I get the appeal of the lyrics: „beat on the brat with a baseball bat“ is funny as well I want to sniff glue as being the first positive song after all other songs start with „I don’t want“. But that won’t be enough to motivate me to listen to the album again. Sure critiques loved it but it’s just not enjoyable.

It all kinda sounded the same. There were a few moments where I thought the song was just repeating. 1 - would not listen to again 2 - if some one played it, I'd probably just zone it out 3 - didn't hate it, didn't love it 4 - saved some songs from the album 5 - would buy the album or already own it

Catchy start. I’ve only listened to their hits. Starting at “….Sniff Some Glue” it felt like I was in “the song that never ends.” It started to get a bit repetitive for me. “53rd and 3rd” was refreshing considering all the other tracks on the back half. I think I’d still listen to a compilation of hits but as an album it wasn’t something I could jam on as a whole again. Not the worst album I’ve rated 2 but I can’t give it a 3 based on other albums I’ve rated 3.

This is fine. Luckily its short lived and some of the songs are catchy but that's about it.

I understand the Ramones' impact on music and specifically Punk in the United States, but I can't stand em. They're on the softer side of Punk which never really landed with me. God speed to all of you who like them.

I can appreciate, culturally, what they've done for the zeitgeist, but that doesn't mean I have to ENJOY listening to them.

This album is one giant song. Everything sounds the same.

Both the songs and the album are only bearable because of their short runtime. Nothing stands out in a good way. Every song is the same. You could listen to 30 seconds of the album and know the whole thing. Oh, the mix on and after Let's Dance is way better than the earlier portion of the album. I Don't Wanna Walk Around with You has Cut Copy in the background? xD Okay, the last three songs convince me this might actually be a pleasant enough listen if the mix for the whole album were better. Alas, we have what we have (and this is a 2017 remaster, I guess it was even worse before that), and what we have gets a... 1.5*.

Big fan of the one singular song they have on this album. Everything else is just that song again. Okay, maybe a bit harsh - there's two songs on here. Not bad, but not the most amazing either. 2/5 stars.

All the tunes sound very similar to me except with different lyrics. They are fun though.

A lot of the same

Ok, but same in my opinion.

Blitzkrieg Bop is pretty good. At least a 4. Wait, I've heard this before. Is the track looping? Yeah, every song is the same, just with different nonsensical lyrics. Then it slows down (I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend) and it somehow gets worse. Oh, good, we're back to Blitzkrieg Bop with different lyrics.

29 minutes felt long

**An ok album

I think this is meant more for people who like to sniff glue

It's a fun listen. I don't really think it's an AMAZING listen and it's definitely not the best punk albums ever, but it's a fun listen. The production is really bad though. Really really bad.

Eh blitzkreig bop is good but they all sound the same 👎

never was a Ramones fan. another one of those bands that you kinda had to be there to appreciate. Just loud fast NY punk. if you like that kind of thing

It was fine. Not my type of music.

"Hey! Ho! Let's Go"- the opening (and closing) lyrics to the first track "Blitzkrieg Bop" make this perhaps the most recognisable Punk Rock track ever. However, the rest of the album, like most Punk Rock of that era, is less memorable and I feel hasn't aged well. Contains an interesting cover of the Chris Montez song "Let's Dance".

Tempted to give one star as apparently The Ramones invented a lot of the "punk sound", but it isn't that painful on its own. I only like punk when it has overtly political lyrics and/or decent musicianship though, so dnf this and went to listen to Bad Religion instead

I would probably not listen to this again but it did have a few iconic songs on here that I enjoyed

This is one of those albums where you had to be there to appreciate it in full cause I’m sure this hit a hell of a lot harder when you had Barry manilow and captain and tenille on the radio and you heard this for the first time. To be fair, I grew up with a lot of pop shlock as well, but even though the black eyed peas were on the radio, you could just switch stations and blitzkrieg bop was probably playing. So it doesn’t really hit as hard for me as it probably does for the boomers and gen X’ers. There’s a few good songs here.

rather uninteresting and standard rock. not my jam. lacking lyrical depth. uninteresting melodies. mostly standard ideas, save chain saw's intriguing intro and "now i wanna sniff some glue". the trouble with ts album is if you played two songs in a row you wouldnt be able to tell a new song had started, only because of the pause between songs. the fact of the matter is that this album is not special in any way, shape or form, and in fact is simply boring, and had me yearning to listen to underground french rap throughout my listen. it is lucky ts album only lasted half an hour because otherwise i wouldnt have sat through it. in fact, it was distracting me from my economics study due to the immense urge to turn it off due to being bored beyond belief. 1 is too harsh so once again going w 2.

If 1001 album keeps giving me these bum ass rock albums im going to leave

Classic rock, not to my taste

The Ramones are cool. I was having a great time for the first 4 tracks, but I'd had enough by track 6.

Bliztzkrieg Bop is a bop. Apart from that I actually enjoyed the Sex Pistols more (and that isn't saying much). Whoever produced this album hated drums and, despite me being a bassist, I don't think bass being higher in t mix then vocals was a good plan. Even if Johnny Ramone's voice gets annoying in under 26 mins.

Not really my type of rock Na jedno kopyto

2/5 don't like punk but has some good beats.

Blitzkrieg Bop x 14

I really didn't get anything out of this one. In the end, every song blended together into one big mess and the singer's accent wasn't helping. That being said, I can see its influence.

Remarkable how long this album feels vs how short it is

perfect example of something that's not nearly as compelling musically as it is important

This is the type of punk that I don't really like. Every song sounds the same, but the basis of the songs is just repetition of a lack-lustre 3 chord-programme, with a vocalist whose whiny shout becomes very stale, very quickly.

I will never understand why people like the Ramones.

Blitzkrieg bop is great but every other tune just a lesser version of that

Every single song sounds the same

Eh. If you like the style its probably really high. I think the style is good, but it seems repetitive and not interesting.

Couple of good tracks, Blitzkrieg bop was great but the rest just merged all into one

Meh. A little repetitive. I didn't really feel it? I also didn't always like where the lyrics were going. But maybe that's me.

Ei o, the rest of the songs are the same 🫠 Lyrics were never my focus, and after the famous song, the rest just blended. Also I do not like the vocals. 2.4 only for the famous song

Thought it was good (for punk) at the beginning but it became quite monotonous and samey as it went on, even though it was a short album. Rating: 2

Not really for me

Look I get that punk is not musically complex, but this felt like the same 4 chords for 30 min.

1 song is enough

These guys are obviously influential, but punk is not my bag.

Hey Ho, let's go. Iconisch natuurlijk. 6/10 (want toch iconisch) Highlights Blitzkrieg Bop 53rd & 3rd

A bit repetitive but the beat it repeats is quite good.

i understand that this is classic, but its not quite my favorite thing either.

Incredibly repetitive.

Very overrated, i can kinda see why its so highly regarded, but to me it just sounds like a boring mess with a few alright songs on it.

I love Blitzkreig Bop, but never got around to listening to any other Ramones. Think I'll just stick with Blitzkreig Bop tbh

Pretty repetitive but like classic old school band

I think anyone can agree that this is a really influential album and it was revolutionary at the time and all that, but it has aged terribly in my opinion. It just sounds like a bunch of hillbillies trying to make music. The vocals are absolutely horrendous for the most part and the production don't do them any justice. However, there are some catchy parts and cool chord progressions here and there. It's hard to even get close to how overrated this album is. 5.3/10

Blitzkrieg Bop is, well, a bop, but the rest all sounds the same and drones on. Very repetitive and gets old.

A simple, quick hit for a debut. All songs sound very similar so it gets tiring but since it's only a 30 minute album, it's not insufferable. Only recognized "Blitzkrieg Bop." Catch them at a NYC dive bar in the 70s and I bet it was fun. Pretty sure that's a circular saw at the start of "Chain Saw" though...1.63.

No me gustó

While this has its moments, I still just don't like the Ramones. Every song sounds exactly the same and has no energy.

not my thing, first song is iconic.

I was never a fan of them, I liked a couple of songs, but I have to be honest, everything sounds pretty much the same

Not a huge fan of this old school punk sound but I appreciate that the Ramones are classic punk rock and this is an iconic album. Just not my thing!

EY OH. LET'S GO. Boring. Sounds a bit like there's a tiny leather-clad band stuck in a Pyrex jar shouting to get out. Bit repetitive, won't come back again. "Hey little girl, I wanna be your boyfriend" makes me feel queasy.

4/10 - Have always loved the sound of the Ramones. Unfortunately they have the same beat/riffs for pretty much every song. Obviously a very influential band, but ultimately they come off too "one-note" to me.

As someone else said, it’s the same song over and over

Not for me

Not the biggest fan of the vocalists voice, but it does work with the album. That's about it though as far as the good. It sounds the same. All 14 records minus maybe Blitzkrieg Bop are practically identical. Favorite song: Blitzkrieg Bop Least favorite: Chain Saw

Too loud

Don’t think I’d come back to it but I see its merit as a punk album + blitzkrieg bop

Simple, straightforward, head banging punk. “Let’s Dance” is my favorite. Otherwise, ultimately bores me.

It's a bit too repetitive and all the songs sound very similar. Not terrible but not very good either.

i get that they are iconic and important but this album wasnt for me, the songs sounded very similar to me and i got bored

first time heard 2,5 round down to 2

Most overrated punk band ever. Every song sounds exactly the same and is the same three chords

I get it, I am sure they are iconic for 80s/90s straight rock. However, all their songs sound the same! They also have terrible vocals; it works for their big hit but it got old. 2/5 I won't be back, but I did learn some history.

There was blitzkrieg bop which was iconic but literally every other song sounded the same. I don’t get the hype

First listen.

Ramone’s are decent. Fun listen on way to work this morning. Are all their songs basically the same here? Yes. Did I still sing along to blitzkrieg bop and head bang? You betcha.

Vocal melodies were interesting, musicianship was uninspired. Sounded like they could’ve written and recorded it in one day. I’m biased in my taste but these are my feelings regarding this album. I will likely never revisit it again.

considering this album is not even 30 minutes long, it's impressive how repetitive it is. the whole middle of the album all feels like one long ass song

Samey, repetitive and just not our thing

Didn’t really enjoy this one at all minus Blitzkrieg Blitz

I don't really like the vocals of the band. I don't know, it is not my type of song.

Not a fan and it all of the songs sound alike.

I like their versions of girl-group 60s pop, like “I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend,” which sounds like the basis for the power-pop that I love these days. And I can’t really be too mad about the Ramones because I love that CBGB-centric scene they helped usher in. But the more officially punk sounding songs on this album are boring as hell. Seriously if you skip through and listen to the first two seconds of every song, you’ll notice how they sound exactly the same. The Sex Pistols album was way better as a foundational punk statement IMO.

The Ramones live in the cultural memory of kick-starting the punk scene if they deserve that place decades later is questionable. In their music exists the youthful desire to start a rebellion and, in many respects, they certainly did. On their self-titled album, the Ramones created fast paced, simple songs that decades later feel trite. Songs blend together and whatever edge the album had was long ago lost. It is an album that is better left as a memory beyond visiting its major hits. The hooks can be catchy, especially on Blitzkrieg Bop, but beyond the desire to craft a statement piece against what rock was becoming limit the scope of the compositions. Maybe if it were decades ago or if the Ramones were my entry point for creating personal music taste, I could enjoy it more. However, neither of those of are true and all I can muster is the acknowledgement of its influence and look forward to it birthing the more artsy musical reaction of post punk.

It's the Ramones. Which means it does absolutely nothing for me, apologies to everybody who holds them dear to their hearts.

1st song - Spidey Homecoming. Decent songs, not really my style.

The first quarter of this album is fine; all jolly and fun but as the album progresses it quickly becomes very repetitive and tedious to get through. The only redeeming quality being it relatively short length.

The ideal junior high experience. Today it just sounds like crap.

Dunununununununuh DUN DUN dunununununuh DUN DUN drrrrrr

Plenty of great songs for a nostalgia-baiting, market chasing trailer for your 2010s overbudget corporate-designed movie/video game. Probably thrilling for it's time, but I don't think it holds up nowadays.

This music and most punk for that matter fuckin pisses me off, with how repetitive, dull and droning it is. I can not sit down sober and listen to this. Punk is only good live when ya heavy on the grog and feeling dangerous.

Very much not my cup of tea. Everything sounded too samey. 'Blitzkrieg Bop' was the only thing I cared for.

whoever told these guys they were good

Punk 🙄

eh, not really my thing tbh

The Good: THE RAMONES!!! The Bad: their kind of repetitive… The Ugly: Did I mention that they are kind of repetitive??? Hey, ho, let’s go! What a wonderful way to start your morning. No fist-pump, just an angry stare, and ready to go! Just don’t pay attention to the recording quality… or the way Joey likes to “Bop” which sounds like he’s taking the piss out of all of us, instead of out of the world… or that the rest of the album really sounds more like what a lollypop band from the ‘50s would sound like, if they were man in drag… I got tired of the record pretty darn fast, mostly as I was not able to understand if The Ramones were trying to fight the world, or give it an apple and become it’s favorite student. Not for me…2* out of respect for the legacy

That listened like one song. Not in a good way. I get that Ramones were incredibly important in punk rock but besides the classics it wasn't a great time.

Decent

The songs here are so basic. The vocals are rubbish. It really doesn’t sound cool to me either. Some of the tracks I was already familiar with are pretty fine, but overall this is a big monotonous yawn. 2.4/5

I feel like certain bands happened to be playing the right music in the right place at the right time and because of that, certain albums of theirs are propelled to legendary status even if they are good or not. But I suppose that's what this list is. Important and influential albums. There just doesn't seem to be a lot of variety to punk in general. Sure, there's the odd riff here and there that stands out - 'Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue' has a really cool riff - but if I wasn't paying much attention you could tell me this album is one 29 minute long song and I'd have believed you. If you like punk, you'll love this. I don't like punk that much. I am definitely more of a metalhead and listening to this album has confirmed that to me. It has everything that I SHOULD like. It's loud, fast, raw and high energy, but after 10 minutes I've heard it all and it just does nothing for me.

Now I get what people meant

Incredibly Overrated. I'm not even a punk hater but this sounds like One Song the whole way through.

Good fun. Good for a tempo run at the gym. Apart from the first track, nothing particularly remarkable here though.

klingt ziemlich gleich alles

First 3 songs or so are good. Then you realize they all sound the same. Exactly the same.

Truthfully, every song by the Ramones sounds exactly the same, with different lyrics. Fun music, but repetitive as hell.

I almost died listening to this boring ass album I almost crashed it felt like a 29 minute long song (nightmare). Good in the mix but sucks fat cock to listen to as an album

EY O LETSGO. ramone mega pop? tönt mega noch chindermusig. i wanna be your boyfriend, okaaay. gits en basischere song? macht gad nüüüüt mit mir. bin bi loudmouth und äääh jo s isch immer s glich und git mer nüüüüüüt. havana affair? ok ok. listen to my heart okay jo ich los au uf mis herz und bin hert am struggle mit dem album. s passiert mer z wenig und s rockt afoch nöd würklich? 53rd and 3rd töbt immerno gnau glich, ich verstoh dass es e gegebewegig zum pomierte rock vode ziit isch aber us hütiger sicht ischs afoch für mich nöd spannend. dasch es zwei. sorry. ramona

The Ramones are okay.

70’er punkrock, rowdy, energisk, lidt for uslebent

It's pretty repetitive.

There's really only one song on this - and it's not even a particularly good one.

I enjoyed it slightly more than the first time I listened. Unfortunately, my main complaint that it was too repetitive is still there. There’s a ton of energy on this record, but I’d rather just listen to The Stooges or The Clash.

dronedronedronedronedronedronedronedronedronedronedronedronedronedronedroneinabadwaydronedronedronedronedronedronedronedronedronedronedronedronedronedronedronedrone

The ultimate punk rock band. Completely lacking in substance and existing solely as a stylistic endeavor. These songs are garbage but at least they short.

It was fine. A bit too repetitive and no song stood out as different from the next. Also means that no song was bad, but overall it wasn’t a memorable listening experience. I might be a bit too harsh as this is my first album and I’m not sure how I want to do my ratings. Would have LOVED to hear this live.

Blitzkrieg Bop is decent, but I didn’t to hear it on repeat for 29 minutes

Better than I was expecting. Energetic but it's pretty much he same song all the way through.

It’s fun but gets pretty tiresome even at the length. Once you’ve heard the first few songs (which are great) you’ve pretty much heard everything you need to hear.

Song tunes are all very similar.

Beat on the brat Let's dance Le guitariste connaît-il plusieurs accords/rythmes ?

Ramones • Ramones (1.5) favorites - Listen to My Heart, Chain Saw least favorites - Beat on the Brat, I Don’t Wanna Go Down to the Basement To me, these songs all more or less sound the same. (Not necessarily the lyrical content, but the guitar strumming patterns, vocal delivery, and compositions.) Now these next points are my personal preference, so I am well aware these could be very ill informed and wrong, but I digress. When it comes to listening to music, I much more enjoy when you can clearly make out every word someone is saying throughout a song. The ‘shoutyness’ of these songs doesn’t do many favors when it comes to making the lyric’s intelligible. Throughout this album, there also doesn’t seem to be much vocal variety, nor is there much lyrical variety within one song. The The mixing of these tracks all feel as though the instrumentals are MUCH farther forward than the vocals, only amplifying the feeling of everything running together. Even though this album is only 29 minutes long, I couldn’t help but keep checking my phone to determine if it was over. I will give credit where credit is due and say that I do enjoy the guitars in this album. (And God, there’s a lot of them.) The instruments all blend together well throughout, and there aren’t moments the composition seems jarring. (Comparatively to the rest of the record.)

Very early start of Punk rock good chord progression but did not like the vocals on it per say.

Felt AI generated

I think this was one long song, punctuated by rests where they scribbled in a single chord change before starting the next section, leaving tempo and rhythm untouched.

Every song sounds nearly the same, I found it tiresome by the end of the album. Definitely a unique sound and a key to the punk genre, but I just don't love it.

Blitzgkirigk bop good else mid af

I know the simplicity of the songs is the point but 50 years later it’s no longer novel or edgy, it’s mostly just monotonous and boring. Obviously hugely influential and I like the one song, just not 14 times in a row. 2.2

Whole album sounds the same

Percussive and all sounds the same

I understand the significance of this album to pop music as a whole but it felt very repetitive. The same handful of chords and very similar rhythm lines throughout. Not one of my favs on the list so far

I was looking forward to the album. I clearly recognized the punk and I had probably forgotten what punk meant. Somehow I hardly noticed the difference between the songs. Everything sounded very similar. And then it was actually enough to listen to one song. That was fun, but that was enough. 2/5

I was already familiar with Blitzkrieg Bop, and it is a great song. I understand this album is historically important, but just going by the music present here, I don't find the album as a whole particularly interesting. In my mind, none of the other songs add anything further that wasn't already done with the first song. This brings down the album a good bit for me.

Pretty much what I expected. Classic ramones

Pretty boring, vocals are weird

5 songs sounded pretty similar

I'm so impressed that a band had the balls to release a 30 minute album consisting of one song remixed 13 times. Consistent, dope sound, for sure a big change for the music scene in it's era. However, not nearly enough variety to really be a worthwhile album.

my rating is all about what i vibe with and i didn’t really care for it.

Very repetitive. Every song sounds the same

I'm generally not a punk rock fan, and this album didn't change my mind. Fast, short, samey songs with washed out vocals. At least the project was short. 2/5.

I've never been a big fan here. I even checked that I hadn't accidentally set it on repeat because the songs were all sounding the same. Apparently this band is on "50 greatest artists of all time" lists. I get that they maybe launched a genre so "most influential" might be more apt.

the ramones suck 2/5

Wanted to like it. First track good, rest pretty blah.

Mwah, veel van hetzelfde

Was i on repeat? Or did every song sound the exact same.

Boring. Couple fun songs in there but the majority all sounded the exact same, no distinguishing features. Did enjoy how each song blended into the next pretty seamlessly though

Ok, but very samey.

Thank god these songs don't last any longer

A little agressive and without much content.

Have never liked the Ramones. I have no problem with them, and recognize their historical significance, but their music has always been too simple and uninteresting for me. I really don't like the singer's voice, which makes it hard to get into any of it. Their music is just boring to me.

2024-03-12...

i thought every song sounded the same haha.

I knew the song Blitzkrieg Bop and I know other songs by the Ramones, but the overall album was a little bit disappointing to me.

I think if I was a teenager in 1976, this would be awesome. I know this was a very influential album for a lot of people but I don't think it stands the test of time. I've obviously heard Blitzkrieg bop a million times but I don't think I've ever heard any of the other songs before and they all sound very similar. I can appreciate it as a building block to a lot of bands like the Mistfits and other bands of that era, but on it's own, it's a bit of a one trick pony.

Ok but nothing special

cool and raw early punk but very similar from start to finish. nonetheless this must have influenced so many other bands afterwards

I never got the Ramones. Blitzkrieg Bop is a banger (although ruined by the advert), but it's all so samey after that.

Kind of an overrated album imo - didn't find a lot of difference between some of the songs.

Pink Flag, The Clash, Television, Sex Pistols, and The Talking Heads would all release next year and are all 10x more interesting. The best thing I can say about this album is that it inspired better bands, and blitzkrieg bop is a fun song. I don't hate the Ramones and I wouldn't turn them off, but I just find them really boring most of the time. When loudmouth came on I had to check to make sure the album wasn't repeating. I wonder if any other reviews mentioned that all of the songs sound the same? 2.5 (rounding down)

sounded dated, recognized some songs that ive heard 1000 times

Blitzkrieg Bop is certified fun. But oh god did they use to make rock music for us guys lmao, like just only guitar chord progressions and drums, not super interesting in the modern day. Lmao Blitzkrieg Bop starts with "AO", but Chain Saw starts with "OA" and sounds similar. I rest my case.

I know they are historically significant, but I have never been able to get into them.

I get why this album was so impactful at its time but I have never been fan of the punk genre in the first place and i find the songs very repetitive. All of this making it quite hard to really appreciate it so many years later.

Punk must be the most ironic genre out there. A genre that is usually political, anti-authority, anti-establishment, anti-mainstream... Then you have band alike Sex Pistols who are outfitted by one of the most prolific fashion designers in the world, Vivian Westwood.. You get songs by the Ramones like 'I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend' - which is pretty bubble gum pop - or a song that could've been written by Donny Osmond or Barry Manilow but with those 3 chords that punk rockers only know. I this album those 3 chords are basically only used. In different order of course! They stay true to the punk definition of not complicated and minimal instruments. Vocals aren't bad. As far as punk goes. But this album is basically the same riff and drum beat the whole way through. I would love to sit down and talk about punk rock to someone who is very passionate about it. Because I don't get its appeal.

I spent the entire duration of this reading the same comments from one guy on youtube. They're mostly incoherent, but there's a certain charm to the more understandable ones so I tried to translate one 「To be honest. I heard Romanes like this. Year 1978. We're in the Volga delta. Tourists. It's dark already. We have a radio. We throw the wire in a tree. Ooh! Oh my god. Here. Here! I remember. The rythm. Romanes. Oh my chic Romanes!」 The thought of a guy who seems to be off his rocker reminiscing about the time he got to hear "Romanes" is pretty romantic. I believe him when he says they are "special in the mouth". Even if I don't see it that way.

it's wank

Good initial song. Bad and repetitive album otherwise

Opet meh, ali zanimljiva pricica iza albuma. Najbolje pjesme: 1. Blitzkrieg Bop

midmidmid

This project's insistence on the album format is sometimes fatigueing. Some of the best songs in the history of recorded music, are found on albums that are not really that notable. Ramones deserves a spot in musical history. This is, however, not a very good album. Listen to Blitzkrieg Bop and Havana Affair, and take the rest of the day off. 2.1

Ok, I like the Ramones but apparently in small doses. A whole album was tough. Everything sounded the same and I was waiting for it to end. I feel like you could just listen to Blitzkrieg Bop and it would be like you've heard the rest of them. Maybe teenage me would've been more into it?

Was never into the Ramones.

I don’t know why, but the Ramones have always reminded me of speeded up ‘50s teeny-booper rock. Pretty repetitive & a bit boring, but I do appreciate that it’s the founding of a genre. As someone else said, could be fun to have on in the background of a party. Glad I heard it, but wouldn’t listen to it again. There’s a huge difference between ‘good’ music & ‘interesting’ music, & every single person gets to decide what that is for themselves. When this album abruptly ended after 20-something minutes, everyone in the room said “Huh. That was interesting.”

Seminal but boring.

It's good for what it is. All the songs are similar and I think not very interesting. This is an album I would listen to every 10 years or so and that would be enough.

All sounds the same.

Obviously know the first song as it’s been in what seems like a hundred commercials. The rest of it all sounds the same. I’m not sure I’d be able to tell when a new song started if there wasn’t a pause in between. Not my favorite.

Album didn’t do much for me but I am appreciative of the influence they had on later bands (Nirvana, Metallica, Green Day).

Not a favorite of mine. 4/10

Punk is not my thing, I find it mindless and uninteresting.

Enjoyed listening to this but other than I wanna be sedated and blitzkriep bop - nothing really caught my attention. 2.5/5

2 good songs everything else sounds the same with different lyrics

Not my kind of music. Skipped through it pretty quickly, however wasn’t unbearable.

Didn't like this at all

Too high energy for me! The only song I liked " Do you want to dance "

Too shouty

DNF, i couldn’t get through it, it’s just not for me

2.35/track. Very repetitive.

fun songs but I just can't stand those vocals

Has not aged very well.

ay oh let's go

Man, I just don’t care. I don’t like punk, and in terms of punk, it’s above average. But every song sounds the exact same. Usually if I can’t pick a top 3, it’s because almost every track was awful. But here, I just can’t tell the difference. None of them stand out in the slightest, except for Blitzkrieg Bop. But even that sounds like all the other ones, it’s just a slightly better song. Totally mediocre album. Not impressed. 4/10 Top 1: 1. Blitzkrieg Bop

Same song over and over and over again. I never had a Ramones t-shirt back in the day and I won't be getting one now either.

Blitzkrieg Bop is a great song but the rest of this album I literally couldn't tell when one song ended and the next began.

Sounds like a breakthrough work for its time, but hard to listen to today and sounds a little to all the same.

Energetic, but repetitive. Somehow felt longer than it is. Didn’t really care for this one.

All the edgy kids in the 70's/80's would be all over this. This is the album you parents dont understand haha. I dont think it has too much to offer now days. Also the singing is kinda bad.

First 2 songs: Repetitive as all hell Boring, boring, boring.

Undoubtedly influential in Punk across the world, the Ramones, hailing from the Queens, are an important piece of musical history. With catchy chord powered thumping, the lads discuss a surprisingly wide array of social issues and influences. The album grows old rather quickly, but at least I didn't listen to the extended edition. A lot of the songs are better looked at individually for their breakdowns than trying to pull something from the album in its' entirety. 2.5/5

- Blitzkrieg Bop

There's too much guitar playing the same chord over and over again. It's generally pretty okay, but there's just too much noise. It is great for a song or two, but for a whole album it's too much. The singing is kinda bad, and it definitely isn't good for a whole album back to back to back. If someone were to play any of these songs, I would think that's chill. If someone wanted to play the whole album I would ask "why". The songs are just too similar for me to want to listen to the whole album, I'll take just one or two songs, thanks. As music, it might be a 4, but as an album, I think it's like a 2.

this is not my favorite. at all.

My young dad would loved it.

Sex Pistols and Clash were better. 2/5

Tracks all very similar….

High tempo, high energy. A classic of punk rock, I felt like every song kind of sounded the same. It’s not to speak ill of the album, but it just wasn’t for me.

was about 30% longer than could hold my attention, but I liked most individual songs, but fell of pretty quickly after the chainsaw sound blasted through my car speakers, fucking wrecking my eardrums. variety is the spice of life. 2.5

this was the same song like 30 times. it was good the first 2 times

Iconic opening "Blitzkrieg Bop", othereide uneventful Punk Rock.

eh boy. Never listened to it front to back, won't need to again.

Beste låter: Blitzkrieg Bop, Beat on the brat Verste låter: Listen to my heart, Havana Affair

Eh?

It was the same song for 30 minutes. Everyone who has ever worn a Ramones shirt owes me financial compensation for the emotional hardship I felt as I watched my expectations for this album crash into the floor in a fiery explosion. An extra star for Blitzkrieg Bop

I love hearing the same words over and over again

Loved Ramones in the 8th grade. Haven’t really listened to them since. Now it kinda just sounds like nursery rhymes for punks 2.5/5

Enjoyed Havana Affair the most and also the iconic Blitzkrieg Bop but the rest of the album was disappointing from a musical aspect for me, extremely repetitive and very short song lengths. The way that Joey Ramone sings the word "Massacre" on the song "Chain saw" makes me want to rip my heart out and shove it down my own throat.

# 87 : It's listenable, but seems very repetitive in beat and sound. Not much happening here and it's only short. The Ramones are one of those bands for which you appreciate the influence but don't really want to hear again. Fav Track : Blitzkrieg Bop Listened : 13/10/2023

While a lot of the songs blended together and were pretty samey, it was a pretty interesting and solid listen for an album that was a early forbearer of punk

I understand that these guys were one of the original pioneers of the punk music, and maybe it's because punk isn't a genre that interests me, but I didn't really find this album interesting at all. The music is bland and repetitive and the lyrics appeal to a certain... age demographic that I'm no longer in. Just feels cheesy I guess. Maybe if I was a teen in the 70s this album would do more for me.

repetitive and kind of just got boring. liked the blitzkrieg bob and chain saw but quit halfway through. good for vibes but songs don’t really hold up.

Great opening song, but every song after sounded pretty much the same

Proof that every once in awhile a group of musicians can make some money and have an impact on the music industry without actually having much talent

Not great. Simple repetitive. Maybe it was influential at the time but it’s hard to listen to somewhat now. I can feel the nostalgia maybe?

His voice sounds a bit like Bowie on track 2. All kinda the same song. He can’t say massacre either. Very samey all the way through. Average. Prolly a 2 tbh

Very iconic, knew the singles and the rest of it sounded exactly like I expected to. Think this one falls into the 'very influential on music I like but not that good itself ' category. It sounds thrown together which is very punk but the drums in particular sound terrible. Once you've heard blitzkrieg bop you don't need the other songs really. Musically very important, glad it happened, probably won't listen again.

Not really my taste though there was nothing on it I hated

From the first track, "Blitzkrieg Bop," it's apparent that the Ramones are content to stick to a single formula: fast, distorted power chords, simple drum beats, and repetitive vocals. While punk rock is known for its raw energy and straightforwardness, this album takes it to an extreme that ultimately becomes grating. I have heard this song many times, sure it's a bit catchy. Certainly nothing extraordinary. The lack of musical variety throughout the album is astonishingly evident. Each song seems to blend into the next, making it difficult to distinguish one track from another. This homogeneity of sound quickly becomes a flaw. As the album fails to engage the listener beyond the first couple of tracks. The lyrics on this album are a total disappointment. While punk often deal with themes of rebellion, socio-political commentary, or personal expression. The lyrics here rarely go beyond surface level phrases. Tracks like "Beat on the Brat" and "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue" come off as banal shock value attempts, lacking any substantial message. Even when the band attempts to tackle more serious topics, like in "53rd & 3rd," the lyrics remain disappointingly vague and fail to evoke any real emotion. The album is a one-dimensional letdown that lacks the depth and variety necessary to make it a truly engaging piece. While it may have had an impact on the punk rock movement, its lasting influence is more a testament to the band's marketing and branding than the actual musical content. The album ultimately lacks the raw emotion that many other punk albums have, with not much to make up for it.

If you gave me 2 hours, I could recreate any single track from this album. In fact, if you gave me a week, I could probably recreate this whole album. And I’ve never played an instrument. And guess what? That’s exactly how long it took The Ramones to produce this album. It amazes me how much of this album I hear in modern-day punk bands, as if the members of the genre never learned different drum patterns exist or bothered to explore the genre beyond its barebones roots. Having said that, I don’t necessarily think this album is unlistenable, it’s just flavorless. Every song sounds so similar that none stood out except for the opening track because I’ve heard it through radio play countless times. The every song on the record opens with the same basic premise and most have that same simplistic backing drum track. I guess you can say that all have different lyrics but none really resonated with me to the point where I could identify it as a different track from the last. In a recent review of the new Burger King Italian Chicken Sandwich, food critic ReviewBrah said this “All the ingredients are here, so I don’t understand how it can be possible for this to just taste like nothing. And be as dry as it is.” Maybe I just hate punk tho. Favorites: Blitzkieg Bop Least Favorites: The rest

first two songs come out swinging then the rest of the album sounds the same tbh

Man, this really is just the same kinda song on repeat right? I mean, I really like Blitzkrieg Pop and Beat on the Brat is also nice, but listening to this album from front to back is a real challenge for my. Still 2 stars because the songs individually are still okay.

All of these song sound the same.

I get how this album is influential, but wow every song sounds almost exactly the same.

Not my cup of tea

More fucking punk - and I don't care if this is seminal or bleeding edge, it's still shite

no es para mí.

So after the first track you realise the whole album is the same track played with very little variation and other numb lyrics. They play with raw energy and manage to pull off a couple of rocking beats, but as an album it's not great. Dare I sat the Ramones were always over hyped.

Really not my thing. All the songs sound the same.

This all sounds so flat and samey. Getting real sick of punk.

Overall personally I didn’t enjoy it as much as a lot of others. However I understand the influence that it had, but falls flat for me personably. 6/10

This record was a necessary step in the evolution of music. It's been done a lot better by thousands of bands after them, but they couldn't have done it without this record. Favorite song: I don't want to walk around with you.

It’s fine. I appreciate that it ushered in punk rock to the public consciousness but I don’t particularly enjoy listening to a whole bunch of three chord songs in a row. The singles are good on their own.

The mix is poor, even if it is intentional. I feel like better mix would have complemented this album’s strength, the energy. The songs proved to be repetitive to the point where if anything changed it would standout. Drums are so background that you sometimes forget they’re there. Not my vibe overall. 3.5/10

Very boring

I don't think punk is my jam. All of these songs sound the same. Blitzkreig Bop is a bop.

This whole album made me want to sniff some glue Every song sounded the exact same to me Seems like the key to making a 70s punk album is just the same chord and repeat the same words over and over

More short songs! They all start the same but keep the same intensity throughout which is cool. I know this is a cornerstone album in punk rock history but it still seems like Blitzkrieg Bop and then a bunch of other similar songs to Blitzkrieg Bop. Idk I liked some of the other punk much more.

I used to like this. But it's really quite boring

Yeah.. all the songs sound the same. Nothing very exciting. Gets annoying quick. I can handle one song here and there and that's enough lol. 3/10

Jackson Pollock Ideas: Wow the first track lol. Blitzkrieg pop extremely recognisable. Ok his voice is kinda frustrating. Not loving it but not hating it right now. Feels like a 3. Ok it got super repetitive and annoying really quick. Couldn't finish it. Its a 2. Favourite songs: Blitzkried Least Favourite songs: All after half way Overall: The first track sounds pretty innovative and cool. From there on in my enthusiasm was slowly worn down by the repetitive nature of the tracks and the grinding vocals from the lead singer. Additionally the guitars seemed to have little variation with the rhythm remaining constant. I imagine if you like this its fine, it doesn't sound like "bad music", but it certainly ain't my music. Low 2/5

I’m not sure how I feel about this album. Every song feels pretty similar. Only Blitzkreig Bop and I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend felt distinct. And hearing “1-2-3-4” in every song is repetitive. 53rd and 3rd is an interesting song, too. It’s got a more interesting melody. Let’s Dance is fun, too. Is that an organ I’m hearing? Different note: The Ramones are American but they sound super British to me. Overall, I can see how it would've been pretty startling and fresh when it came out. But I don't think I'd add this album to my rotation.

Certainly important and innovative but also a bit basic and one-note.

Pure punk repetitive. Totally captures the times. But still. 1 good song. I wanna be sedated! (Not on this album).

Funny for a couple of songs, but then gets tedious very quickly.

One of those...I should really listen to "_______" kind of albums, so I was excited when it came up. 29 minutes later I thought how this really should have been an EP. Some catchy songs and melodies, but not enough variation over 14 tracks. 1 - bad 2 - average 3 - good 4 - great 5 - outstanding

Sounds like some regular old punk man I’m sure this is probably influential or sum but I’ve heard this album a bunch of other times

Falls off pretty quick. Most songs sound very repetitive and cliche.

nelabai, visos dainos kazkokios vienodos, meh, fone tinka, siaip neklausyciau

Best Song: Blitzkrieg Bop. I can't even tell if this is the best song, or if I just like it more because it is at the beginning of the album and you hear it first before realizing that the band can't write any other type of song and you're about to hear the same thing 13 more times. Worst Song: I Don't Wanna Walk Around with You. It's just so fucking dumb. Overall: Every song is the exact same. It starts at full speed, with no ramp up and continues unabated at the same uninteresting pace for 2-3 minutes while the band shouts some random phrase (probably the title of the song) over and over. Its only gift is its brevity.

Like a monotonous, thudding hangover. Two half decent songs: Blitzkrieg Bop Let’s Dance
