Pleasantly surprised, can really hear their influence on mid-2000s brit bands
A fun listen but a bit eh
Highlights: blitzkrieg bop (iconic) Beat on the brat -- fun to hear after playing Cyberpunk This sounds clean and polished for a first album, especially for a punk group. Solid album, 3*. It's repetitive, obviously their trademark style. Maybe this is a good running album as the BPM is so steady.
First of this is a classic punk or pop punk album and for a good reason. But there are some things that i ´ m bothered by the band and album 1.They sound British when they sing but they are american band somehow.2.Sometimes and i mean SOMETIMES the drums sound like The Beatles which is weird because I though the drums might be more tougher.3.They are the most overlooked punk band I´ve ever heard of.Overall this is still a goodish album but i don´ t think it aged well. Btw R.I.P. to all of the original band members of this magnum opus of punk in the mainstream.
6,5
It's a trend setting album but punk is always a weird place musically. Short, trying to be friendly to listen to while the message isn't, it's a niche but is as much attitude as the music (if not more). They almost have a feeling of submissive Buddy Holly
In photography composition is king. A skilled eye can take a great photo with even a child's toy camera. The Ramones manage to compose some catchy songs. The Ramones, with a very limited pallet, paint maybe one of the best pictures one could with thise limitations. It's a fun record and it can be a real "if they can make music so could I" album. I like what they do, but for an album I can only go as high as a 3 here.
It's okay, but it's also nice and short.
Let's be honest: you're not here for tight lyricism or complex instrumentation. You're just here to rock out, and this album succeeds in that regard. A lot of the songs that I would normally consider bad were saved by their energy. Plus, the singers' accents lead to some unintentionally funny moments ("Texas Chainsaw Mass-a-cree" is one example). All in all, this album is a punk rock classic and I had a fun time listening to it. Best song: Blitzkrieg Bop Worst song: 53rd & 3rd Underrated Gem: Listen to My Heart Best Song Title: Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue Album Score: 6/10
Mmkay
A very singular style runs through every song. 'Samey' some may say
Good, once again, found myself a little bored, but maybe I wasn’t in the mood!
This is where the line blurs between best albums and most impactful albums. Yeah it's great, yeah it changed the world of music, but there's very few unique ideas and outside of nostalgia and studying popular music history, there's very little reason to listen to this in the modern day.
I like this album, they've got a strong recognizable sound.
Had lots of fun listening to this, could potentially turn into a 4/5 with repeat plays. Favorites were “Blitzkrieg Bop” and “Havana Affair.”
Not bad, pretty rough recording and a lot of it sounds the same. A couple good tracks, cool style. 3.1.
It's alright, has some good ones, but overall it's too simple and repetitive for me. I'd have to give it a 5/10. I remember hearing blitzkrieg bop in Skate3.
Album Already Known: Y # Songs Already Known: 1 # Songs Saved: 0 Notes: Fun to listen to, to be honest I wish I was around when this came out to fully grasp how influential it was for punk but I was about 19 years too late. A lot of the riffs sound the same but not really in a bad way? It's one of those albums and songs (Blitzkrieg Bop) that is so popular and so ingrained into everyone's music knowledge that it doesn't sound that special, idk - but that also is why it makes it one of the 1001 albums you have to hear before you die
pretty straightforward ramones.
rly like the vibes but i cant stand when i cant decipher the lyrics / words all blur together.
Sounded like the birth of pop punk. Garage band in your face for young bucks
Well this album definitely flies by. The Ramones have a pretty signature "sound" and that's very evident in this album. As a result a lot of this album sounds very similar, save for the two singles and a select few tracks. Very uptempo, as was much of "first wave" punk rock during this era. Punk rock definitely evolved to better things in my opinion, but this was part of punk rock's foray into the mainstream radio and I can appreciate that.
At first I was like ay oh let’s go but then I felt like I was listening to a high school band.
Even though many might consider The Ramones a pioneer of (American) punk, this brand of punk isn't as angry as that of The Sex Pistols or The Dead Kennedys. Not sure I would really label it punk at all. The tunes are catchy, but the opening anthem aside, all the other songs sound the same. Same rhythm. same beat, similar lyrics. Good album, worthly of this list, but not amazing.
I mean, it’s kind of entertaining but it chunders along in the same deliberately dumb vein
Painfully same-y. I’m sure it was inventive for the time, but there’s not even anything all that punk about it. Bleh vocals, simple riffs, bleh bleh bleh. 2.5 rounded up.
Way more poppy than punk. Everything sounded super similar.
Educating myself of the classics and yeah some bangers and otherwise decent :D
Some good songs, a lot them sounded similar
AY OH! AY OH!
It’s ok, I personally don’t get why everyone loves them. Maybe it was a time and place type thing. But I wasn’t there so
With the exception of Blitzkrieg Pop they kinda stink in a very endearing way. Songs are short and repetitive and simple and ok. It’s like a 2.5 with one banger so I’ll round up.
Enjoyed Blitzkrieg Bop but the rest of the album sounded almost exactly the same but not as good.
Mid
Strong start, repetitive by the end.
It’s a landmark for punk. But it’s also repetitive in a way I’m just not too into.
The Ramones are really good at making different songs sound the exact same. At least they’re catchy.
The fathers of punk rock! All the same beat! Love it.
I’ll get flak but this album is kinda boiled together, all the songs have the same vibe and energy, hard to discern them apart from a few, though I will say they only sound like themselves. 2.5
While this is an enjoyable enough of a listen, it does get aggravating after a little while. It's repetitive nature definitely doesn't help with this. Luckily it's short enough that they can get away with it. I can recognise the influence on Punk and this album is important for sure, but I'm not sure I'm going to want to come back to this anytime soon. Despite all that, I still think it's a 3/5. Fav songs: - Blitzkrieg Bop
Like it
Good. Fast and fun! Though a little samey.
Not really my thing, and a bit repetitive.
fine
A series of short songs that pack a punch. I can see how the Ramones are a punk-rock prototype. 3.5/5 ⭐️
Solider Klassiker
Fun intro into the origins of punk, most the album sounds pretty similar to me (same guitar riffs and themes) but was a fun listen.
Quite fast and energetic. I like the shortness of the album. Though, the songs are not very diverse.
i mean, it's fun, it's short, it has some nice riffs and it didn't age as poorly as i originally thought so yeah it's alright
well, at least it's catchy. not my thing i'm so sorry
This album made me wanna sniff some glue.
Its fine. Not my favorite.
Blitzkrieg Bop rules and everything else is trying to catch up.
I remember these guys from Rock & Roll High School. I like the Ramones, so I enjoyed listening to the album, but I don't understand why it's in this list.
Good, but kinda repetetive in the end.
Iconic yes. Every song sounds the same, like one very long song. OG gets them at least 2 stars.
Hey! Look! It’s Blitzkrieg Bop and 13 other variations of Blitzkrieg Bop.
im ersten moment denkt man "kennste eines, kennste alle" aber mit jedem hören wird's besser
All the same as Blitzkrieg bop. Still not bad though. Mush mouth
Definition of punk, but not sure if I’m a huge fan still
The road to punk? Short and fun.
Got a little repetitive towards the end but I owe the Strokes’ existence to this album so automatic star for that
I mean, this is pretty iconic being the Ramones’ first album. True garage/punk rock. Love the early grit vibe. That being said, all the songs start to sound very similar as the album goes on and the sound quality is lacking, but loved hearing their first album.
Some great songs but I feel like there isn't much variation in the album overall.
Didn’t know that I knew any of these songs, but I played blitzkrieg bop and immediately recognized it without realizing that it says blitzkrieg bop. Its primary repetition is of “hey ho lets go.” also accidentally listened to beat on the brat. Both are honestly a groovy vibe that feels very much like it would be playing in a 70s or 80s movie. could see myself having been into them if I lived during that time.
Need to be in the mood. Fun, but every song sounds exactly the same.
Not bad, but all the songs tend to blend into each other after a while.
Nothing much to expect, It is Ramones. 3 chords, a 4/4 tempo and that's It, history is made. Starts to get boring after the 10th track haha 3/5
Legends. Heros of their time. A bit noisy nowadays.
Formulaic punk redundancy with some pop kicks but I think every song is still good even if only two songs are different. Classic album.
One song was good rest were not that appealing to me
Not usually my thing, but it was pretty alright and I can hear how it influenced later no punk albums. Also Blitzkrieg Bop is one hell of a song to start your first album with.
Fast and “loud”, not relaxing but definitely feet tapping. All very familiar, yet not all at once. Sounded grungy, and distorted. Wouldn’t listen often
I have to give props to the Ramones, of course. Classic album. Cohesive.
I'm not quite sure what this is, but it is it nazi punk????
A bunch of classics, but the back of the album drags a little when the songs sound similar to each other
3.7
A classic but not a favorite
My first listen to the Ramones. Oh yeah, okay. A punk sampler - 2 minute tracks. Short sassy and a catchy very basic driving beat. Mumbled garage rock with a real brit style (are they faking a brit accent - punk is the ultimate pose after all - sounds so british to me, I didnt pick this as American, let alone boys from Queens, N.Y. ). Not sure who influenced whom, but apparently its essential punk listening. Why does Blitzkrieg Bop sound like "bleets geet fuk"? Its the defiant Idontgiveshit attitude of the genre. Wide variety of topics covered, playfully. I guess these were the bad boys of the time and kids would have loved it. Some good playful music for a punk party and mucking around. But don't listen too carefully, it gets boring and repetitive. A bit simple, very repetitive. If they did what their lyrics suggest, like sniff glue, the brain damage would be immediate. So, I've done it... good to know them finally, after seeing the iconic t-shirts for decades... Looking for the bright side - the most 'fun and catchy ones were the Banana song "Havana Affair", "Let's Dance" is okay, adn I recognised the thunderous propulsive ( there's that word again) drive of "Blitzgreig Bop" I started to hear influence they must have had - on Blondie for example... that's clear. Probably a seminal album, interesting for my musical education - but not a fave.
Cool mais répétitif de fou
54/100 Based on this scale: 1 star - 0 to 19 2 stars - 20 to 39 3 stars - 40 to 59 4 stars - 60 to 79 5 stars - 80 to 100 Early punk rock, where simplicity is a quality. Fun album, lots of foot-tapping.
Ramone! Play a song that’s longer than 2.5 minutes. Ramone! Play a song with a guitar solo Ramone! Play a song that sounds different than the last song.
More shouty music.
I've listened to a bunch of Ramones in the past, but never an album straight through. This was very repetitive, and most of the songs blended together. That's not to say I didn't enjoy it though. 3.5/5
The most original song is a cover...
Musicality: 3 - a few catchy parts Production & Sound: 3 - raw and live sounding Artistic Expression: 4 - unique for their time Performance: 3 - nothing overly technical, mostly just energy Engagement & Enjoyment: 4 - nice burst of energy Overall I'd say it's a ball of energy that was improved upon by the bands it influenced
I get how pioneering this is and huuuuuge respect for the path they blazed sonically and visually, but I just cannot get past the musicianship. Certainly appreciate their undeniable contribution to pop music history. It's just really hard to listen to, actively or passively.
Some classics not my style
The original punk sound and look right here! Leather jackets, long hair, ripped jeans, fast songs, weird lyrics, underemphasis of vocal skill; just generally noisy music. This was a fun listen. I can see teenagers in the 70s and early 80s being all over The Ramones. Somewhat surprised by some of the violent lyrical content. Three stars for this album.
Is ok, not bad, not good. Solid 3. A lot of these albums unfortunately lose from not being heard when they came out. They had a lot more impact then. 3/5
Three bangers and some also Dan's. Particularly liked Chris Montez Let's Dance cover
nid so min musikgschmack, aber eig nid schlechts album
Not a brilliant album, but it is perfectly.good. Simple, straightforward tunes delivered with high energy- and if you don't like a particular song, don't worry there'll be another one along in two minutes.
Iconic album but all songs sound the same
All the tracks sound the same but it's still worth a listen. Despite being the first track, you'll have Blitzkrieg Pop in your head afterwards.
3 / 5 Short, doesn't outstay it's welcome
les paroles de "I want to be your boyfriend" eww. J'aime bien mais une fois passée Blitzkrieg bop c'est toujours pareil.
Great energy. Really fun album.
Blitzkreig Bop has always been a lot of fun. Raing 2.7.
Good album, not really a bad song on here though like most punk albums it does tend to grate towards the end. High 3.
I like punk's style, message, existence, whole thing way more than i like punk's music, alas. For an album under 30 minutes it sure has a lot of songs that sound similar.
Only one good song (Blitzkrieg Bop)
11/8/23
6/10 Catchy but quite repetitive and the lyrics (which are the most interesting part of these songs) are hard to make out at times.
I like it - kinda like the same song with different lyrics though lol but iconic. Looped the album twice and it gave me a headache
Next 5 Songs played by my Spotify Algorithm: Pixies - Wave of Mutilation ( Doolittle Version) Descendents - Bikeage The Adverts - Gary Gilmore's Eyes Generation X - Night of the Cadillacs The Dickies - I'm OK You're OK
Pretty good but I'm not a huge fan of punk
I liked it initially sort of trailed off towards the last 3 songs which I haven't finished as of Fri Nov 3rd. I like the energy, the sense of rebellion we get from the tracks. But it doesn't feel iconic.
Good but seems like it’s the same anthem with different words. Absolutely made the blueprint for later bands. Simplicity and coolness go a long way. 3.5/5
Not too bad
Hugely important album, and Britzkreig Bop is an all time banger, but once you've heard one track, you've kind of heard them all. Neat album closer, though. Did you know these guys sold more shirts then records?
Foundational and iconic and all that, but it's not really listenable as an album.
Fun album, ould not tell you how many songs are on it though I Don’t Wanna Walk Around with You sounds like a song written about an annoying, younger sibling
Not the best; Sounded a bit repetitive.
Nice music, but there is very little variation in it. Blitkrieg Bop gives a good kick to start, and then everything sounds the same.
Famil
Meininki kohdillaan, biisit persoonallisia ja osin mieleenjääviä. Ongelmana ehkä turha tasapaksuisuus sekä soundissa, soiton tyylissä, että biiseissä.
Decent liked 2 songs
Classic sound, seems like a ton of newer bands sound like them
Fuzzy summer tunes. Riding through town on my bike, hearing the iconic "ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR" just before the guitars on overdrive come ripping in evokes a feeling of limitless youth. A feeling of excitement that rushes through your veins. I enjoy trying to pick out their influences (some of the melodies are vaguely reminiscent of the era of Beach Boys) and also noticing the music that followed the Ramones and took influence from them. All in all the fuzzy guitar and melodic punk melodies bring me back to my youth in the early 2000's, to the years of black skinny jeans, white T's, leather jackets, and garage bands.
I like more variation in my music. This is very same same old school punk.
Ok
My friend Rachel made a Joey Ramone doll by cutting up one a Ramones t-shirt.
Fun listen. Very monotonous. Great for a couple tracks
wouldve ate it up if i was an angsty 15 yr old in an 80s high school movie
Repetitive with juvenile lyrics but also really sing-dang catchy
Ramones by the Ramones is a pretty influential album, but not a very impressive one overall. This is one of the first real Punk albums ever released, so that's pretty cool! The sound of the songs is pretty neat, especially for the time. I do, however, have a few problems with this album. For one, it is quite repetitive. Even if I like the sound of the album, all of the songs sound the same, so there's not as much substance as I would like. Instead of feeling like 14 songs, it just feels like one 29-minute long song. Speaking of which, this album is really short, but I guess that's a good thing with the aforementioned repetition. Also this album has some really weird lyrics, and not in a good way. Take for instance, the second song, which is about wanting to beat a kid with a baseball bat. Yeah. Or the last song where the singer claims to be a Nazi (although that one can be explained by the perspective being from a Hitler Youth member). Overall, I definitely understand why this album is on here, but it's nothing really special to me personally. High 3/5.
good length. other genres should have the lack of ego like punk. that being said, it was ok.
I enjoy it but pretty repetitive.
Decent album, a little bit samey towards end though which is my only criticism.
- Not exactly stuff I would listen to often - Still good songs in there 3/5?
Album was basically a bunch of sound bites. It was kinda weird. Two minutes clips of them saying what they were thinking, almost a laundry list of sorts.
Bop
With its unmistakable sound, Ramones (1976) is a highly influential and iconic record. The album helped to consolidate and simplify a new, emerging form of musical expression known as punk rock. The straightforward structure influenced the whole genre, as well as other genres that borrowed from punk. However, its consistency may also be its biggest flaw: it gets pretty repetitive, due to the lack of experimentation. The most popular songs, in general, are the ones with an exciting, catchy pop feel and instrumental dynamics that change things up just the right amount.
Good, bit not easy listening
I don’t really prefer the Ramones
It was fine, I knew the first song, too fast for me tho. Too punk. NOW I WANNA SNIFF SOME GLUE
I used to despise the Ramones but I think that was linked to people who liked them rather than the band itself. In isolation it’s fine and Blitzkreig Bop is a great song.
Not an album I want to listen to all the time, but can't deny the influence it's had. Some of the songs are very much classic though (Blitzkrieg Bop)
Such a solid classic punk rock album.
Several iconic and amazing songs on the album, but is otherwise kind of boring / redundant to listen to as an album.
The energy is amazing, and Blitzkrieg Bop is a certified classic. But some of the songs feel really unpolished in an unintentional way because they’re an experienced band, especially when more than half of the songs *don’t have an ending* and even some of the one’s that do is because the band just… stops playing. 53rd and 3rd even has a fake-out ending and then the real ending FADES OUT! I felt like I was losing my mind! Overall some good stuff but it’s hurt by the band’s inexperience (at the time of release).
Repetitive... but the influence is undeniable.
My appreciation for the Ramones knowing their greater impact on the genre. While the songs on this album are rather repetitive, they, no doubt, paved the way.
Interesting energy and flow.
7/10
It's the Ramons.
Aucun doute, ça s'écoute bien et vite (chansons très courtes). Par contre, le style des chansons est hyper répétitif. Blitkrieg Bop c'est good et après c'est toute la même affaire. 3 pour l'influence, mais 2 originalité
In context of music history and the evolution of punk this album is as essential as it may get. But it's far from being a masterpiece when rated on its own. Most songs on here are very same-y while some songs feel way less inspired than others. The production and performances are subpar, especially when compared to later Ramones-records. So I guess it's highly praised due to the fact that these guys came up with this record at that specific time and place to gain relevance.
Say "one! two! three! four!" one more time, please. While the sound of this album is the 70s punk sound perfected (created really), every song sounds very similar. Does make you feel kinda cool and rebellious listening to it though. Will give it another listen to sink in,
I understand why this music was very influential. However, I don't know how someone can listen to the album front to back. If it weren't for the pauses between songs, I wouldn't know when one song ended and when another started.
Me gusta Blitzkrieg Bop.
Mark and Lard have a lot answer for. Blitzkrieg Pop is an absolute classic
Most songs sound the same and it hasn't aged the best, but it's still pretty fun. By the way, listen to the Spotify 40th anniversary mono mixes. They sound so much better than the regular 2016 remasters.
Fun as background music, keeps the energy up. Problem is the songs start to sound the same. Also, I can't understand them at all.
Not my style, I know the first song from the album (maybe from some ads, don't know), But I just don't like the sound
Apart from track one, this album sounds all the same, one track melding into the next one. The album is only 30mins long with 14 tracks, each track only 1:30-2:40 mins long. I went into this album expecting to like it from track one but it was all the so samey.
i really hate the vocals. would prefer different mix
Cool
Pretty damn good
You know what you are getting with the Ramones. Even though the album if less than 30 minutes, it is hard to sustain interest across the 14 songs here as they merge into each other. Blitzkrieg bop, Judy is a punk and their cover of Do you wanna dance are all decent enough though
Landmark US punk deut album which to be honest is a bit dull and flat though I guess was ahead of its time. Sorry guys. A O Let's go. (...and review something more interesting...)
Never really listened to The Ramones outside of their bigger songs. Kinda what I expected. Energetic, punk rock / garage rock. Can’t deny their influence, albeit every article ever written about the Ramones’ influence tends to lean more on their style and less on their music. Which kinda shows as theres not a lot of substance here… Some canny tracks surrounded by a very tried and tested formula. Gets old. Quick. Highlights: Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue, Blitzkrieg Pop, Havana Affair (RHCP do a cracking cover of this)
Sounds very much like, "well, this is punk then". I like the mindless lyrics. Beyond what I expect for punk, the regular, repetitive choruses, and short length of the songs make it quite the punchy album. Blitzkrieg Bop is of course great, and the rest are good but I wouldn't actively choose to listen to this again. Something like a 3.4
Hearing about the Ramones over the years I thought this would be better than it actually was. The album had a couple of great tracks but otherwise they just sounded too similar. I wouldn't listen to this again. Highlights: Blitzkrieg Bop Beat On The Brat Havana Affair
Know the Ramones but don't think I've ever listened to an album. Might be weird to say, but not as punk as I was expecting, dare I say more pop punk.... Thought it would be more hardcore, but guess they likely wouldn't be so appealing to the masses if it were. Didn't quite live up to the heights that I thought it might. Wanted it turned up to 11 and it didn't quite get there. Was quite good though. Short songs, energetic. But lacking the tracks in more familiar with, blitzkrieg bop aside. I'm sure lots of bands I like have this to be thankful for 3.5
Iconic, varios temazos pero a veces se pone repetitivo. Se nota que es la base del punk. 3/5
it’s good. classic punk. not as mind blowing in retrospect but pretty cool for its time. gets kinda samey after a while.
The Ramones pumping out these tracks in 1974 in CBGBs must have turned a lot of heads. It was so different than the bloated stuff around at that time. As infectious as Blitzkrieg Pop is, I've never been too fond of it due to it's Bay City Roller-esque chants and the Nazi reference, which Im surprised they never got more heat for. The rest of the tracks sound predictable now but were more groundbreaking then. The Sex Pistols debut from around that time is more more to my tastes, with its anger and anarchistic themes and less of an old time, garage rock &roll feel.
Seminal punk album from a seminal punk band. Stripped down, simple and raw. It started off with a bang with Blitzkrieg bop, Beat on the brat and Judy is a punk, but after awhile it got very repetitive but the album was mercifully short at only 29 mins! I think this may be the shortest album on the list?
mid
When this came it was probably insane, but now it is 30 minutes of the same song copy and pasted 13 times. Highlights: Blitzkreig bop Best song: I wanna be your boyfriend Worst song: no idea because they all sound the same
7.5/10 Overall I see the ramones as a barebones punk album. I like it, individually most songs are fun and have good vibes. As an album this album really lacks, it’s a very simple formula for most of the songs here. I wish there was a little more feeling than just being punk because you’re bored. There’s no really reason they explain this feeling other than boredom. The album feels like they made it for the idea of how it would sound and not because it resinates with them. Notes got deleted before I saved fuck… First 3 songs are sick. I wanna be your boyfriend is eh I don’t think these simple love songs work with this band. Chain saw -I’m at a weird mix for this song, the chainsaw sample is sick but it still feels pretty forgettable. Now I wanna sniff some glue - this shit is peak punk honestly. If you were to give me the most raw punk it’s for sure screaming kids want to sniff glue.
Mid Album for sure
забавные, но я недостаточно их слов прочитала/расслышала чтобы полноценно восхититься
Blitzkrieg Bop is such a great song. Unfortunately the rest of the album kind of felt like 13 versions of the same song. Maybe I need to spend a bit more time with this release but I can say it has aged well.
First punk album so far I didn't hate and it got even better when it was only 30 minutes long. Loved the rhytmn and speed on this one
Once you've heard one, you've heard the rest. But still alright!
Pretty good
I get that Ramones are the fathers of punk, but I guess I'm more into the developed punk rock.
I get it, but I don't get it. Some catchy songs but they all start sounding the same. I understand at the time this album blowing minds but I've heard so many rip offs and copycats it's kind ruined the whole buzz of this album.
Pionieers of punk with short tracks based on the same guitar riffs.
Blitzkrieg Bog, Beat on the Brat, I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend, Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue, Havana Affair, Let’s Dance 3.5/5
Great debut. Loud and fast.
Standard old skool punk.
I'll be completely honest here, I always assumed Ramones were from the UK... turns out my whole life is a lie. I understand Ramones were an important group to the US Punk scene and they certainly have established themselves as one of the better remembered acts from this era. That said, a lot of this particular style of punk doesn't hold much appeal to me. It comes out sounding kind of all a wall of sound without much variation with a few notable exceptions: Blitzkrieg Bop and Beat on the Brat are a great one-two start to the album. Both well written songs in their own right. I also enjoyed the closing two tracks and how they bled together. Fine enough album, but not something I'd listen to of my own accord again. 3 / 5.
Some good hits, classic sound
Þetta er sjálfsagt ekki allra, frekar en nokkuð annað, en það er e-ð svo sakleysislegt við túlkun Ramone-bræðra að ég elska það. Svona "Við erum hrikalega töff, í alvöru, sko" dæmi.
Same song for 30 minutes, but I loved some of them, so 3?
Good.
Is Sheena still a punk rocker, I wonder
Fun, just don’t listen to the words cause they don’t make any sense.
I'd like to thank this album for bringing punk into the mainstream and setting the foundation. It's perfect in so many ways, yet I can't get past the fact that almost every song has the exact same BPM (170-180). However, they did line up the slower songs well - 135 on 4th and 11th songs, 160 on 2nd and 13th - to make things cohesive. Which again, makes it perfect in a way. I don't know how to describe it, but there's something lacking. Maybe it's some lyrical diversity? That's not what punk is about though. I'm confused now. All I can say is that I was not underwhelmed or overwhelmed, just whelmed.
Super fun listen, nothing crazy special about it warranting more than a 3 but enjoyable nonetheless
B- Blitzkrieg Bop - 5 Beat On the Brat - 3 Judy Is a Punk - 3 I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend - 3 Chain Saw - 4 Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue - 3 I Don’t Wanna Go Down to the Basement - 2 Loudmouth - 2 Havana Affair - 2 Listen to My Heart - 4 53rd & 3rd - 3 Let’s Dance - 3 I Don’t Wanna Walk Around With You - 2 Today Your Love, Tomorrow the World - 3 This was a surprise. I didn't expect to give this more than a 2. I don't hate punk as much as Woofmeow, but it's become an annoyance thanks to this generator. However, these boys came in strong with great guitar work. I'd be lying if I said I didn't hear traces of Sex Bob-Omb.
TRACKS: Blitzkrieg Bop [3] Beat on the Brat [3] Judy Is a Punk [4] I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend [4] Chain Saw [2] Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue [2] I Don’t Wanna Go Down to the Basement [1] Loudmouth [2] Havana Affair [3] Listen to My Heart [3] 53rd & 3rd [4] Let’s Dance [2] I Don’t Wanna Walk Around with You [2] Today Your Love, Tomorrow the World [2]
Still fun, suffers from progenitor syndrome where I have heard so much that was inspired by the band that they seem more straightforward than they were in their time.
The songs are all short, but are all so similar that you could blend them all together and not even notice anything was different. The Nazism references are really weird and off putting - which is a shame because that last song starts to finally show some variation.
Simple, pretty fun. Ballroom Blitz is overplayed to death but it's still fun.
I like it but lowkey every song is the same. I like that it's a short album with short songs because it was a change from these long albums I keep getting. overall good sound just repetitive. favorite track - I don't wanna walk around with you 7/10
Tror ikke humøret mitt var helt riktig. Mye bra punkrock, mange ikoniske sanger! Men ble litt for repetetivt.
Still waiting to love it
Yep, enjoyable.
Simple and raw. And the good thing is that if you don't like a song, no worries, it will be over in less than two minutes. "...Basement", and "Loudmouth", surprisingly, actually have some structure and chord progression. The rest of the tracks are indistinguishable from each other. However....see my two minute observation.
Exactly what I expected from this and nothing more.
3 chords and ooh ooh can be enjoyable but not for more than 29 minutes
OK with some nostalgia attached
Its ok
It is okay. Short, repetitive.
Blitzkrieg Bob is punk anthem. Rest sounds very similar and not that special
Solid jam album. Timeless punk sound that stands the test of time.
Outstanding album and one that I disliked when younger, because it seemed to 'hardcore'. It's funny to me how the sound of albums like that has mellowed in time and possibly when placed in context of how heavy music later got. Anyhow, I love the sound of just about every song on here, even the seemingly trite ones like Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue.
I’m glad I finally listened to a Ramones album. I need to explore more. Some of the tracks (I’m looking at you 53rd & 3rd) feel flat, which holds the album back for me. I want to feel more of the energy.
banco igual tranqui ponele que 7/10
Довольно таки забавный и весёлый альбом, но мне он не очень нравится. Он для меня довольно-таки однотипный, поэтому ставлю 3.
Highlights: It's consistent -- take your pick. Let's say "Blitzkrieg Bop," "Havana Affair," and "53rd and 3rd" This does sound pretty fresh without quite being able to put a finger on what sets it apart from other rock at the time. Minimal harmony and rhythm with maximum energy. The bass at the core just hammering the root in eighths as hard as it can all day long. The relentless straight beat of something like Deep Purple but drifting away from any blues backbone into a tight pop package. This won't come across as praise, but in this context it's hard to imagine Devo and everything they influenced without the Ramones. Ramones also dare to be stupid without being as doctrinaire about it. More just cynical. Lyrically, this can work against them; you just have to take it in good faith that whether they're singing about pulp touchstones or singing from the perspective of Nazis, operatives, and bigots, it's all with some jaded detachment. If it's any kind of statement, it's either just exposition or just despair, or both. But the music is the perfect counterbalance. That's punk, dead or alive.
The US is better than England at everything (winning wars, food, dental care, etc) and especially punk music. I barely understood what he said, but I felt what he meant cuz this music has balls, unlike the British punk we've listened to so far.
⭐️Blitzkrieg Bop
Just not a punk guy
Short, lively stabs of garage rock without silly noisy feedback or ugly vocals. Sometimes very catchy. Good, but I was expecting even better from the reputation.
Edgy monkees with distortion
holy shit its the song from Spiderman: Homecoming instant 5/5
Oddly repetitive, and nowhere near the level of The Stooges
Blitzkrieg Bop is an incredible way to start, but things never exactly pick up from there. It’s a fun album that peaks immediately and then levels out to a solid bit unimpressive record
repetitive ,but cool
I can imagine it sounding revolutionary when it was released, and the singles, when heard on the radio, still pack a punch.
I don't know, started off kinda strong, and I'm into this kind of 2 or 3 chord punk, but it was just kinda boring. The bangers carry this one to a 3. Standouts: Blitzkrieg Bop, Beat on the Brat
Blitzkrieg Bop on aika legendaarinen ralli. Aika moni muukin biisi tuntu menevän aika samalla kaavalla joka toisaalta lienee genrelle tyypillistä. Ei silti levynä mikään mullistava mestariteos, edes nelikymppiselle, joten helppo kolmonen.
Tää on ihan hyvä. Taitaa levyhyllystäkin löytyä. Kerran parissa vuodessa voi kuunnella
This is what all those t-shirt wearers like apparently, I don´t believe it, but ok. Musically it is what it is, not really my taste, but it has a good energy.
Enjoyed listening to this more than I would have in the 70s ! It was alright. A good 3*
I mean, it's what you expect with punk and good is probably as good as it gets. Too repetitive. Would like in small doses, but a whole album is not a small dose.
punk in its essence, didnt notice any track transitions its just punk from begin to end
3.5/5
Leuke punk, maar erg eentonig
blitzkrieg boppin
I’d listen to The Clash first all day.
favorite - blitzkrieg bop, beat on the brat, now i wanna sniff some glue, lets dance, i dont wanna walk around with you least favorite - wanna be your boyfriend, chain saw, havana affair
Its punk, its simple and not very elegant but its unique
Mary: 3 Oliver: 3.8
decent sure why not i dont care
Obviously a classic punk record. It's a good album, if only because the songs are literally too short and sweet to overstay their welcome. Outside of the classic singles there wasn't too much in the B-sides that stuck out except for "Let's Dance" which is the only song to introduce instruments other than guitar, drum, and bass. I like the Ramones, they're an easy and reliable listen.
first three songs are great and set the template for EVERYTHING else, of course. one of those bands for which you appreciate the influence but don't really want to hear again
Punk is not my thing. Grating.
Kāds kādreiz bija teicis “The Ramones only have one song, but that one song is really good”, kam es piekrītu, melodija katrai dziesmai ir līdzīga, bet viņa ir pietiekami laba lai albums būtu izbaudāms. Šo albumu jāklausas labā un spēcīgā garastāvokli 7/10 Labākās dziesmas: 53&3rd Now i wanna sniff some glue Blitzkrieg Bop
Skeittipunkki klassikoita
ok but too repetitive
Clearly very influential! This was really cool, but I think I’m zeroing in on liking 80s-era punk more than 70s and 90s. Violent Femmes and Dead Kennedys were more interesting to me
Kinda bad but kinda good: 2.5 stars. Smithers, have the Rolling Stones killed.
all of these songs sound the same this is another punk group that seems soooooo so tame by today's standards but was totally revolutionary when it came out. some of the shit on PUP or IDLES records would make joey ramone shit his pants this album and the rest of the ramones work deserves credit, because it's the form that has been innovated upon 10 times over. ramones and contemporaries inspire 80s punk and new wave which inspires a million genres in the 90s and the permutations of influence are endless and exist in part because of albums like this but at the same time, while appreciating that, i can say that this album is lowkey boring by today's standards and is kind of a slog to listen to. it's alright, in the purest sense of the word. the chord progressions are same-y, every chord is on a down-stroke, the gang vocals are present in every track, and you can't even understand what they're all saying half the time. it's usually just [girl's name] is a [descriptor] i think? eh. i can't complain. there are worse albums on this worse, and there are better. this one is important, but it feels very corporate. when your songs are used in a marvel movie, that's where your punk cred goes to die
Classic punk. Respect it for what is
Jájá, alltaf hresst og sum lög líka skemmtileg. Mjög einsleitt, en þótt það hafi verið ætlunin er það ekki fyrir mig. Get hlustað í smáskömmtum, en eftir 5 mínútur langar mig að skipta.
It's the same song over and over again. Fortunately it's short 30 minutes so you don't have to listen to it very long. But damn is Blitzkrieg Bop a fucking bop. Kinda goes downhill after that.
Some great tracks on here, but it gets tired very quickly. Drags even at 30 minutes long
Eeppinen meno, vaikka ehkä vähän liian raakaa punkkia minulle. Kyl tää silti mieltä kohottaa.
Simple catchy melodic punk. Not reinventing the wheel but it's still a fun listen.
Tja. Helt på det jevne. Ikke minneverdig.
Pang! For en åpning på debutplata. Men albumet blir for ensformig for min del.
Idk, not my favorite band and punk is my favorite genre
they are alright. i liked when they were on the simpsons
Short, sweet and simple like all good classic punk albums.
not my cup of tea
Kinda the same song over and over but they def are unique in many ways. Love the overly comical British sound. Early mosh punk energy. Good songs. Catchy. Simple
Sign me up for no guitar solos and a simple approach that actually proved quite influential. Still, the record sounds utterly simplistic and almost like a novelty act. Might they be the exact midpoint between The Monkees and Sonic Youth?
this is a chaotic album. to be fair, i think i'd call any album with a song titled "now i wanna sniff some glue" to be chaotic, but i stand by my assessment. it's clear there was a lot of fun involved in the creation of this album and they didn't take themselves seriously. it's fascinating how the ramones knew their sound immediately from their debut album. to open with "blitzkrieg bop" is real balls to the wall energy. a good album but sometimes lackluster. their hits are amazing, but some of the others are just okay. as always, it's very interesting to listen to a famous artist's debut album to see their start.
I was surprised how fast this album went by. While part of that was due to the short and sweet album length (14 songs coming in at less than 30 minutes), part of the issue was that, frankly, this album was just incredibly repetitive. Several tracks blended together and honestly sounded like they could have been the same song. While this album was fine, I honestly just think it had been hyped up for me too much over the years, not to mention the insurmountable Blitzkrieg Bop sets a high bar. Nevertheless, I was glad to finally listen to it and experience the legacy of the Ramones.
well grappig.
Consistent, persistent, every song too similar.
Good punk album, can see how the Ramones set the definition of punk for many bands like Green Day and Offspring to follow.
I understand the influence and history behind why this is such an awesome album but I had a listen while I was working from home and it’s not exactly work music. Wish I could have been in an upbeat environment for this listen.
I like punk and it's cool to hear their first album and hear their sound. the songs are all really similar and i can't understand what they are saying but it's still fun to bop your head to. the songs all kind of blend together and the beats are similar but i still like it. blitzkrieg bop is the stand out because it's slightly different than the other songs, but if you've heard one you've heard them all.
Fun but like all punk, gets old fast. Loved "I Don't Wanna Walk Around with You" Important record and neat to hear as it influences music to this day but will probably not listen to the whole thing again.
the ramones have like 1, maybe 2 sounds on this record. it’s good, but a lot of the songs blend together.
meh
Classic 70s punk from the Ramones, Blitzkrieg Bop is still popular today
Nostalgic, one of my intros to punk rock—the catalyst being they allowed me to discover albums and bands I think are so much better, so the Ramones don’t cross my mind as much anymore! Fun to revisit for the first time since I was a teenager.
It's pretty good, but nothing really stood out on the production end or with the lyricism.
Compared to other punk albums, this is definitely the most beginner friendly and softest one, with visible pop influences. However that doesn't change the fact that the music itself is still not good and memorable enough for me to justify 4 stars
A very historical album that I felt was a lot faster when I first listened to it back in the late 70's. The brothers with the eldest(?) Marky, number one son(?) DeeDee, big brother(?) Johnny, and the oldest(?) Joey, make up the quartet. They brought us the debut album of original hits and punk rock anthems. A record that is a total reflection of my past. Love it.
Critique of the structure is easy: It all does sound the same. But that's only part of the (admittedly simple) package. Compared to much of punk, the Ramones manage to do something musically different on each track, though the second half blends in a disheartening way. It's straight to the point, it's rowdy, easy to listen to, but never quite predictable. At least not in all the ways.
A foundational band to the bands I like and to many of the peoples who music opinions I trust most. So disappointed to just find this OK.
There are several tracks from the Ramones that I really like, including my favorite track on this album ("Blitzkrieg Bop"). I'm not sure if I have listened to this album before, but if I did it was probably only once 25 years ago. For being so short, the album starts to drag on after a bit. You could jump from the middle of one track to the middle of another track and have a hard time determining if it was a different song or not. Everytime I listen to the Ramones, I wonder how it would be to be in their band and play live. I couldn't play a full show. The lack of dynamics and limited length of the tracks would be hard on my attention span. There were some surprises on this album. I wasn't expecting the harmony vocals on "Chain Saw". Overall, the album was okay, but I wouldn't put this album on repeat.
Not bad, but nothing exciting or terribly interesting.
These kind of all sound the same. But they are good.
Punk was both protest against certain trends in politics and society as it was against established trends in (especially rock) music. This is proto punk - three chords and the truth, bass, guitar, drums and vocals. You cannot get more basic than this. The whole records has a balls-to-the-wall energy, but lacks variation. It's hard to distinguish the individual songs. But this energy ... 3/5
It's a nice album, goes really fast. Nothing exceptional but it was a nice listen although it gets a bit repetitive by the end.
The Ramones have a classic sound that's easily recognized. I think what saved this album was its length. There are a lot of similar-sounding songs on this album so if it were any longer it would have got too repetitive. All in all, it wasn't bad.
I’ve definitely have heard some songs from them before and was honestly really excited to see this album for the day. I was disappointed to say the least. All the songs sound the same and there is only that one hit. Great rock feel but overall disappointing.
Alright debut, the best tracks are definitely the ironic Blitzkrieg Bop and Beat on the Brat, aside from that this is both their first album and widely recognized as the first punk album, so it was definitely growing pains.
Please Kill Me if I ever have to listen to this again!
Ik houdt wel van die Britse punkrock. Sommige melodietjes komen me zelfs bekend voor. ***
Alright, fun to bop to but all a bit samey
100eme album noté 😋 on a rooooll
