Reviews (page 12 of 14)

Hey ho. This band's shirts are everywhere.

Blitzkrieg Bop pode virar uma Kizomba

Enjoyable, fun, but more repetitive than I expected. In 29 minutes, I was tired of it.

Fun, even though almost all the songs sound the same

All the fun songs on the album are brought down by random short songs that all sound the same.

Great distinctive sound. Fully stepping from the live and peace 70s to the rumbling 80s

Fun album. Definitely groundbreaking when one puts it in the time and context of its release. Love the raw simplicity that also has interesting layers and genuine musicianship. I can easily imagine how energetic this all must have been in concert, especially given that there really wasn't too much like it out there at the time. They are sneakily poppy, too. Real hooks, catchy melodies. Clever songwriting and performances. Not at all hard to hear how much of their sound appears in so many bands to follow.

all the songs sounded the same, kinda cool guitar stuff but mostly just boring and loud

Catchy songs, but a bit repetitive throughout. 3.5/5

Great stuff!

1st time actually listening to this. Pretty basic lyrics mostly, but a fun listen

a little disappointing. love this vibe but quite short and just sounds like one big song. still enjoyable though

The one about being the boyfriend of a little girl dated it and gave me the creeps, but in general I really felt their sound and vibe and wanted to jump around to it, found i drifted off as the album went on but that does often happen with these things. Would be interested to hear about the experience of someone who really loves loves this album

It's alright, some kinda fun punk. The vocals are irritating at times though

Very short album, straight to the point, nothing more than it seems. Influential on a lot of bands I really like but not really my thing all said. A bit of a fun listen all the same. 3/5.

Pretty good A classic Punk Rock album. Has some bops, but not very dynamic. Favorite Song: Blitzkrieg Bop

It was kinda fun. I feel like it had a bit more 'flavor' than the other punk records I've listened to through this project. 5/10

Good album that was supposedly a big punk album back in the day. I knew a couple of the songs and they were great. Many of the others on the album sound similar but aren’t as good. The album is quick and most of the songs blend together. Overall it’s above average. 6.5/10

Outlook Club, Doncaster 1977. Happy days!

High energy but I can't get past the vocals. 6/10

I love when they play that one song, and then they play it again, and again, and again. Sure, they're classic, but they're so repetitive. I'll stick to their greatest hits, one at a time.

Fast and fun although it is monotonous and ends up feeling longer than just half an hour

Catchy little punk/pop/rock tracks.

At least I finished listening...

It might be a little harsh to say that this is 14 versions of the same song, because there are a couple that are doing interesting things, but only a little. It's a 29-minute album that feels longer than that because they've kinda got one trick. Best track: Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue

The best of this album IMO: - Blitzkrieg Bop Vocals are a bit too much the same over and over. Riffs too. Like if you've heard one of their songs, you've heard them all. 2.7/5

I liked the rawness of it but otherwise nothing stood out to me.

051221 13:35 3.5

Just very repetitive. I understand the draw but it's not genius.

Is it pacing, a lack of stamina or simply a ride on the underground having to stop every couple of minutes. Urgent, ballsy and maybe re-breaking the ground but it can't be taken seriously. It's rock and roll after all.

Blitzkrieg bop is great. Rest of it's rather one note. Most vocals just the same line over and over. Sounds good but bit bland

Blitzkrieg Bop is a classic but this whole album was incredibly samey. Enjoyable but I doubt I'd listen through the whole thing again

Some decent tunes but overall felt a little repetitive. I can see how this was ground breaking for the time and helped to birth a new sub-genre but that sub-genre has since grown up and moved out of home. Solid 3/5.

short songs good pop they're america's foremost punk band, which tells me that punk and america are not related songs are popcorn hey ho ok

I was really excited to listen to this album, but it ended up being a bit of a letdown. Blitzkrieg Bop is obviously a classic, Beat On The Brat had me grinning at the lyrics, but then it descended into a series of samey riffs that didn't do much to inspire me, even the cover of Let's Dance felt a little flat. I feel like this is one of those albums more notable for the time and place it was made rather than the quality of the contents.

Enjoyable first half but felt very samey

I appreciate what the Ramones did, bit never really liked them.

Revolutionary for the time, but damn it if every song didn't sound the same.

Good stuff! 3/5

leuk rock en roll

You can see where so many bands have got their influence from. I just prefer a cleaner sound. Even though this is an iconic album, it's just a solid album for me.

It's what you'd expect

Songs are short, fast, and fun but kind of all the same. I can appreciate the album's importance for its time and its influence on other bands. And who doesn't love chanting "hey ho let's go"? But as a whole, the record doesn't exactly speak to me personally at this point in my life.

Fun album! But none of the tracks really stood out as a different style.

3/5 barely didn't make the cut

Good classic punk. Not listened to this previously but recognized quite a few tunes.

Songs: Blitzkrieg Bop, Today Your Love, Tomorrow the World Songs:

Fun yet repetitive. At times felt like one continuous song. Made me want to play a Tony hawk playstation game.

14 songs - 29 minutes. :D I tend to lean towards big/anthemic/complex rock and pop music so the idea of a slab of short punk songs with a few power chords wouldn't necessarily be in my A-list collection. But this is what it is and it's fun which is the point. No tracks longer than 2:39 which was absolutely the right call - no need for solos or belaboring the (minimal?) points - this is a quick half-hour of smiling and banging your head with good simple melodies and just when you're about to be sick of it...it's done. Even for someone (me) whose first choices would be music with advanced musicianship, lengthy passages and new reveals upon each listen, this actually does have an important place. Don't think - just rock. 7/10 3 stars

Gets a bit samey after a while. I prefer the Ramones as a greatest hits band.

classic punk rock band with a good collection of songs on this album.

A nugget of the origins of US punk rock - what more to say? A bunch of classic tracks (Blitzkrieg Bop, Judy Is a Punk, I wanna Be Your Boyfriend, I Don't Wanna Walk Around With You) and even one invoking the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Makes me wanna grab my guitar and bop along!

Hmmm. the one about the little girl is the creepiest song i've listened to for a whle...

Classic punk. I love the aesthetic. It’s pretty iconic. Their sound is influential, but homogenous. Not super creative in the songwriting department.

The best of the bad bunch of punk. Not for me, but doesn’t hurt my ears.

It's a toe tapper, but I think if you removed the silent gaps in between the tracks, in some cases you wouldn't notice you were listening to a new song. Couple of exceptions in there but come on lads, mix it up a bit.

It's a punk rock band, and it does it well. Some of the songs sound exactly the same but with different muddled, unclear lyrics since their drums and guitar don't change rhythms/chords through each song, but overall, their sound is good even if it is repetitive. Favorite track: Blitzkrieg Bop

Not bad

70's soft shouting rock/punk. Blitzkrieg bop. 6/10

Pretty good. The recording quality is rough, even for punk. There are quality bangers on it though. A classic, to be sure. Highlights: 1, 2, 6, and 14.

Repetive to the max. Still, had some bangers

yea it is what it is , heard lots like it so hard to imagine

All songs have the same groove

Pretty good album

24th June 2021 Listened in my headphones in the morning while working. It's like a short, sharp punch to the face of an album. Driven on by rhythmic bass and pounding drums, you get in, thrash about and get out. Great fun.

Thought #1: I cannot get over these hair styles.

Songs are a bit samey

Good stuff

Basically a 29minutes long song.

Punk attitude, simplistic loud music!

Original punk! Not too bad. It must have been mind blowing to hear this when it first came out, such a different sound than what was going on at the time.

it's okay

I think it was on repeat, still enjoyed it

Obviously a revolutionary band and album but it sounds a bit samey

Repetitive

Cool album. I like it but it got a bit samey after a while. Not bad.

Literally played this on rockband with Mar the night before. Last two songs have a good transistion.

Punk. Movido. Se hace algo monótono.

Good early punk band with some good hits

Hey ho let’s go!! Beat-on-the-brat I like it, Sounds like a mix of punk and new ageyness. Now I want to Sniff some glue lol. I’ve always heard of the Ramones as masters of 3 chords and that their songs “all sound the same”. Not usually a fan of punk that’s just noise, but Ramones is like punk energy that’s catchy as fuck.

For an album that was barely a half-hour long, it was pretty good. I don't feel like I know the band any more than I did before listening, but I enjoyed it.

Repetitive, bad use of instruments and vocals, but so much freaking fun. Great energy and lyrics

Singles slap. Everything else is repetitions of the same.

Great rebellious sound but repetitive.

It’s the Ramones, man

This kind of thing always seems strangely tame for the controversy it stirred in it's time. The "slide 40th Anniversary Edition" with it's endless remixes, mono remixes, original stereo and mono album versions, live cuts and demos seems decidedly un-punk somehow. Still all part of the Hit Machine.

Just New York being cool as fuck again. Young, dumb and full of... you know... ;). Simultaneously deliberate and ramshackle, which makes it intoxicating.

A lot of fun and upbeat. Save for the most popular songs, the rest felt too similar and unoriginal, like rehashes with the same upbeat rhythm.

Enjoyable album with catchy songs however it tended to get very repetitive.

Boppy, pretty good

Listened to before. It‘s definitely the Ramones, quite distinctively - however, a bit repetitive.

3, es bueno pero muy monótono

I love the story of the Ramones, I love the idea of the Ramones and I love all the bands would never have existed without their inspiration. But their albums are patchy. On this, there are a handful of genuinely great songs, and then several more that are almost the same, but less memorable. Very much a band where a good compilation of the best songs is all you need to hear (I recommend the two disc Ramones Anthology)

Not great, but two stars all the same...

It's cool, it's energetic, it's catchy. Overall, a very fun listen and a great first album that is very representative of its genre. 7/10 [KEEP]

way too smart but It did build the foundation of early 2000s pop punk

Was quite let down by this album. First one so far where I actually know one of the songs ‘Blitzkrieg Bop’ which I do quite like, but was hoping for more variety from the other songs. It all seems to mash together and get very repetitive after a few songs. Not the biggest fan of the frontman’s voice either, kinda gets a bit draining after a while as well. I’d like to think on further albums their sound and direction get a lot better and more thought out. I’ll give them their flowers however for helping set the foundation for punk rock, hearing that bands like Green Day and The Sex Pistols wouldn’t be around without them is super cool. They managed to see something in this that I didn’t.

It's all the same song, which is disappointing to me because I've been looking forward to listening to this band for a while.

God all the songs sound the same I was so bored

I wanna be your boyfriend erfrischt das Album mit seinem poppigerem Sound.

Totusi luand in considerare si doar experienta e 2/5. Nu i genu meu ig

It’s all the same song

Not for me

Thankfully the songs are quite short because I don't enjoy punk music. It's just a lot of noise to me. Blitzkrieg Bop is good though

This album may have been a novelty for its time, but it doesn’t hold up now. I can see how it’s appealing to punk fans, but there’s a reason why punk is a subculture and not a culture. The overall album is very repetitive -- the same warm guitar riffs and poor vocals, and its only saving grace is the hit song Blitzkrieg Bop, which is only slightly catchier than the other songs.

This album would probably seem better if I was alive at the time it was released; From my modern perspective however, this is good but not the masterpiece I was expecting. I suppose it's my problem then.

Just sounds like messy noise for the entire album. Like one big long song that someone who just learned how to play yesterday put together. I understand they had a significant impact on the culture at the time but this just was not for me.

Meh. Using a skill saw sound effect for a song called chainsaw is such a British thing to do.

As much as I enjoy Blitzkrieg Bop, every other track sounded like Blitzkrieg Bop but worse. Didn't like this album nearly as much as I thought I would. I appreciate its influence and don't think its terrible, but I have no reason to come back to it.

Ehh, I don't want to play the hater's gambit and say "I wanted to like it but...." BUT I did expect more from the album that produced Blitzkrieg Bop. And even listening to Blitzkrieg as the first song on the album I was thinking to myself "Damn I wish this hadn't been used by so many cringey boomers in advertising, Movies, and Video Games," because there was a time where I liked this song quite a bit and it's unfortunately the highpoint of the album right at the top of the tracklist. I hate to say it because it gets said a lot but the album is essentially the same song throughout... Maybe I'll warm up to this after society stops using the "Hey! Oh! Let's Go!" as a chant but that will be on the dying lips of every person that is right now 50 or above. I feel like such a hater. I like punk! I swear I like punk!!

Not my genre. I understand that if you like Punk, you will like this, but i dont.

Really just don’t get it. Here we have some of the most basic instrumentation imaginable paired with lyrics that sound like they were written by a 22 year old high schooler. I understand that this is a very influential album for punk music, but influencing something I don’t like doesn’t earn you extra points. This just seems kind of dorky. Which is fine if you’re a bit self aware about it, but I don’t get that here.

rooooock

Although I am happy that the Ramones helped pave the way for a certain kind of punk rock music, I never really cared for them. There's a few songs of theirs that I find quite energizing. Sheena is a punk rocker and I want to be sedated come to mind. This album doesn't really do it for me. It's okay. It's just not great.

Didn't enjoy this one, crazy to say about the Ramones but their sound isn't my thing

Outside of Blitzkrieg Bop, I was coming into this fresh. Honestly, I was super underwhelmed. If you take out the name, and just blindly listen, this record is pretty lame. I was expecting some aggressive, in your face punk. This was so much softer and poppy than expected. Which kind of put it in a weird middle ground of not good pop/rock or punk/hard rock. Don’t really get the appeal outside of it being the Ramones. 2/5.

i give it a 5/10 only cuz i don’t understand the songs rn but im only 3 songs in so let’s see!

I don't like this band at all and I don't think the music is any good.

-PUNK -Sehr ähnliche Songs, Übergänge fast nicht bemerkbar -Upbeat

not quite my thing

I mean, these were remastered so every single instrument sounded just as loud as the other. Blitzkrieg bop is a banger I guess but the rest just felt okayish. It's one of those albums that people who grew up with it probably loves and for younger people it's kinda meh. I'd give 2,5 if I could.

I can respect that they're some of the pioneers of punk, but holy crap 80% of this album is hot garbage. Songs that sound like a copy of the first one- not to mention the creepy one. Definitely a product of it's time. Still, we wouldn't be where we are without them so I can give it some credit for that.

Repetitive but some good tracks

temon el primero pero desp suena todo igual, not my tipe 2/5

so far not anything is usually listen to tbh it reminds me of blur. And all the instrumental sounds like. The same. Oh my god every song is the same thing. Yeah not enjoying this

Rock equivalent of short form content.

i remember this song why is the album 75 songs cun fwehhh can't lie the formula gets old quick cun wants to sniff some glue, also literally just sounds like the same song as before loudmouth and blitzkrieg bop are the same fucking song

Glad to give them their due as being among the fathers of punk rock, but whatever.

Not my style, too rocky and melody isnt really groovy

Pre listen: I didn't know the Ramones were a 70's band, I always thought they were 90's. Knowing they are 70's now is very interesting, their punk-sound was very ahead of their time. I always thought The Clash inspired The Ramones, but now I think it may be the other way around. Notable tracks: Blitzkrieg Bop - Absolute classic, used at least once in every sporting event in a stadium ever. Chain Saw - The loud chainsaw sound at the start hurt my ears :( I had my volume too high. Also points off for pronouncing Massacre "Mass-ah-cree" Now I wanna Sniff Some Glue - Me too kid. 53rd & 3rd - Probably my favorite track on the album. Good lyricism, varying tempo, vocal distortions, and good vocal harmonies make me like it. Post Listen: Overall I'd give it a 2/5. I think too many of the songs sound similar, to the point there was a few instances I didn't realize one track went on to the next. The tempo they play at is the same for like 80% of the songs on here, and the backing guitars/drum rhythms sound way too similar between songs as well. The lyrics are really good in many of the songs, but there were a few I couldn't understand what they were saying due to their THICK Impoverished Islander Accent. I would describe the album as Punk-Rock boiled down to it's most essential components, but just like boiled water, it needs some flavor. Remarkable album for being foundational for Punk music though, and again, very impressed it came out as early as it did.

Blitzkrieg Bop. Hall of fame track. It’s historic, it’s influential. I don’t see myself listening to the full album again though. Most tracks really blend together.

Rating: 2.4/5 It's alright. I don't have any emotional connection to it and all of the songs basically sound the same. I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend is definitely my favorite track from the album. I respect the band for being one of the pioneers in pop punk. Their British accent is pretty thick though, so for me it's hard to understand what the singer is saying. Just figured out they're from Jersey.... Blitzkrieg Bop - Classic & Spiderman 3/5 Beat on the Brat - 2/5 Judy Is a Punk - 2/5 I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend - More my style fs, kinda sounds like The Smiths 4/5 Chain Saw - 2/5 Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue - 2/5 I Don't Wanna Go Down to the Basement - guitar is not bad 3/5 Loudmouth - just another version of the previous song 1/5 Havana Affair - ohhh this is that one song RHCP covered (they're cover is better...) 3/5 Listen to My Heart - 2/5 53rd & 3rd - First time singer has changed the note he's singing 2/5 Let's Dance - catchy 3/5 I Don't Wanna Walk Around with You - 2/5 Today Your Love, Tomorrow the World - Love seamless transitions 3/5

Oh yeah this is a classic. Ok let's do this. I hope it stays good. Let's go. It's so short thank god. What did the brat do bro. Leave him alone. It's meh but whatever. I think this album was definitely made for kids to rock too not for any particular great artistry but I can definitely appreciate all the same. I am one of those kids. I am the target audience. I wanna bop my head to this. Judy is a punk bro. Fuck her. Me when I wanna be your boyfriend. Why do you wanna be a little girls boyfriend bro. Can we be for real please. What are we doing. Is that an actual fucking chainsaw. Like sure man. I like this it just isn't good. I have never sniffed glue before actually. This music sounds like glue sniffing actually. And tbh it's very homogenous all the songs sound the same, same rock beat with some stupid screamed lyrics. You can low listen to BB and call it a day. Favourite: Blitzkrieg Bop Least favourite: Beat on the Brat

and i still dont like them

1976. Debut studio album. Took only 7 days to record. Widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential punk albums of all time, and it had a significant impact on other genres of rock music, such as grunge and heavy metal. Violence, drug use, relationship issues, humor, and Nazism were prominent in the album's lyrics.

Fun but so repetitive after a while. Blitzkrieg Bop can’t carry the weight of the entire album.

It's like they wrote Blitzkreig Bop, knew it was the best song they'd ever write in their entire lives, and then kept chasing that high.

My biggest gripe with this album is the fact the the Ramones are regarded as the first punk band, but it is so far from punk, it drives me up the wall. Anyway, this album is weirdly short but that didn't mean much since every song sounded basically the same.

One of those albums that actually deserves to be here, but is extremely undermined by loads of repetition. So much that it had me looking flat-faced for most of its runtime. Blitzkrieg Bop was a hit for me as a kid, Judy Is A Punk came from The Royal Tenenbaums and I guess Let's Dance is a solid cover. The rest is total "wash, rinse, repeat". At the very least, you gotta thank these guys for inspiring other bands to release better music. Then again, you always have to start somewhere (5/10, 2/5 on this scale)

The first track is "Blitzkrieg Bop". 5/5 Every track after that is just Blitzkrieg Bop but worse. Mercifully the tracks are short, because there's so many of them - this album is less than 30 minutes long but it doesn't feel like it. Incredibly repetitive songs, vocals that are hard to understand, thrashing about for nearly half an hour on the same three chords. This would get a 1, but I have to show some respect for "Blitzkrieg Bop".

Mhh. not really the vibe of today; a little much of the same thing (it might be a good thing) but I was content when it ended and do not remember a song I enjoyed particularily

2.5 stars I realize this is an important album in the punk library, and I don't dislike any of the songs (I love Blitkrieg Bop) but listening to the entire album is very same same. I wouldn't turn it off but I probably wouldn't seek it out again

Blitzkrieg bop and a load of filler, iconic track but the album isn't great

Fuck me this got old quick. The first few songs tricked me into thinking this might be really fun, but by the end I barely noticed the songs changing

At first it made me want to buy a new fridge or TV, by the end I was fucking angry at everything. It was ok, not really my cup of tea, but I never found myself wanting to turn it off.

It's the Ramones. At least it's short

A Little bore for my taste

YUP sounds like the Ramones - Iconic sound but makes me want a little bit more musically. On second loop, the songs somehow got even more similar to each other 4.5/10

The Clash, en naze.

Jedes Lied klingt gleich

Hey ho this shit blows

Tylsää, kuulostaa samalta

Inte min smak och rätt enformigt

Can’t believe they ripped off the AO advert?! I think one of the songs being used in an AO advert kind of sums this up for me. Feels a bit shallow. Maybe I’m just not clued up enough on the time this came out and the impact it made. But it doesn’t feel punk to be punk but not corny enough to get away with it. They’re trying to be cool but don’t really achieve it in my ears.

It's all the same song

I am not alone. I wrote my review and then saw multiple reviews say the same thing. It’s the same song for 29 minutes. Punk rock may be the lowest form of music out there. 33rd greatest album of all time? I thought I had been missing out on something. Turns out that I haven’t missed anything.

Mediocre. Sometimes bands are revered and I just don’t quite get it. Sure Blitzkreig Bop is a lot of fun. But the rest of this album is pretty monotonous. If you listen to the middle of this album in order, the songs all start the exact same way. Just limits the whole album for me. 2 stars

every song sounded the same. like every song. i can’t differentiate one from the other apart from the AO advert one. the one song they have made multiple times sounds good but it’s literally just the same song with different words

It’s got blitzkrieg bop I also liked listen to my heart and let’s dance but a lot of the songs sound very simpler and you kinda get annoyed throughout the album that they always start the song with 1234 I get it 1234 I mean, like I said you know a song because they played in movies but other than that I think the Ramones are kind of forgettable. Maybe I should delve into another album two out of five.

A couple of songs sounded different than the rest, but other than those, it's just another punk album that sounds like every other punk album out there.

If you were to play me this album with no context and asked me when it was released, I would've guessed late 80s or early 90s, so I think it was a little ahead of its time. Notwithsanding, I also think it's a little bit outdated, or just not that interesting of a sound. I'm glad this was 30 minutes and not an hour, because I was already getting tired of the repetitiveness. Still, I can appreciate this for laying the foundation for other artists to do what they did better, like The Clash, for example. Strong five to a light six I guess.

4/10 - apart from the opening song, nothing of note to write home about

Its definably infectious upbeat tone carries the album, but the most I can praise it for is that it's mercifully short. Not winning any awards for innovation because this really is all the same song 14 times. Not even kidding, its the same 3 cords on repeat.

Man do they love 8th notes. Made me think I was depressed. Felt nothing. I guess it wasn’t actively annoying so 2/5

Certainly can't deny their significance, but the ramones just aren't 4 me

Pretty repetitive. It has some pretty good tracks here and there but as an album it all becomes a sort of blur

Hey! I know these guys, they did Blitzkrieg Bop! I like that song, but I’ve never heard anything else by them - maybe I’ll like their other music? Okay, this next track is decent, but it sounds a lot like the first one. I wonder how they are going to change it up? Okay, still waiting for them to do something different… also, why are all the songs only two minutes long? Still waiting… Okay Let’s Dance was actually not bad And then boring to close. What a disappointment. 3/10

I can appreciate the cultural impact while also saying "this ain't for me"

Don’t hate it but was bored through out

few decent songs, but 3 Ramones songs is enough for anyone. Hate the look. Cant understand him half the time. Your eggs' got hair in it. I cant give everyone a 3. But other than that...

I like blitzkrieg bop, but I get why I’ve never given this a chance before. God knows how anyone can make a distinction between any of these songs.

They sniffed all the glue and left none for you. One noteable track Blitzkrieg Bop and the rest is over produced bubble gum punk. I mean if you like familiar… This is for “safe dangerous” punk rockers.

i want to respect it but i honestly hate it. the first song is the only good one and the rest are a different or more annoying version of it. i don’t really get how people actually enjoy this band, except if i’m feeling edgy might give it another shot 😭

I like this one more then Pornography (The Cure), but the songs are just to repetitive. They all sound too similar. Blitzkrieg is obviously iconic.

todos lo temas iguales pero estaban buenos

It’s punk, it’s fine. Always thought the vocalists had a little more singing ambition - there are a little too many ad libs on some of these songs

Not very interesting. Americans don't know how to punk?

I think Blitzkrieg pop is apt for this band, it's for those who like their punk without an ounce of aggression. If it was toss up between these and the Shrang-ri-las for the most punk outfit then I think the girls win it. 2 stars as its a great cover

This felt like a joke i wasn’t in on. I couldn’t really distinguish between the songs and the vocal style did not appeal. Like at the beginning it was fine but i genuinely thought i was accidentally listening to it on repeat.

After seeing Ramones band tees plaguing all of the earth forever, I was really expecting more - this did not live up to the notoriety. was monotonously the one loud yelling tone for most of it, give me some different tones on the next one please Ramones!

Wish this was a rating out of ten, or could include half stars. I think I’m just not rebellious enough for this album. Blitzkrieg Bop is actually a bop though

Bit samey.

It’s got some classics on it, but Ramones are always best enjoyed as a singles band or live.

Possibly as repetitive as any album on this list, which is an impressive feat. Hard to know if the Ramones had more of an impact on 1980s punk or 2010s fashion.

This album was a lot of the same thing. The lyrics are so British they're unintelligible which i liked a lot. My favourite is track #2 beat on the brat, my least favourite 53rd and 3rd but i feel silly saying that cause they're the same song. i got rid of my fuckass bob recently, i don't regret it. Love the ramones but also what the hell man.

The best album by The Ramones and debut

Oh, blitzkrieg bop nice, I know this one it’s a great little tune. Ok cool next song similar but still sounds quite good, next song hmm this one sound very similar too. Fourth song this is basically the same song. Fifth song, hang on a minute isn’t this the exact same song?! My internal thoughts. Yeah, as standalone songs fine basic but a decent listen, put them all in an album and it just seems super lazy when all the beats, flow of vocals etc sound like a repeat. It doesn’t show much range or feel like loads of thought went into the album. I could probably yap on but won’t as I don’t want to sound like a broken record player like this album.

Energetic and kinda fun but every song sounds the same. Got bored fast

They definitely have an interesting sound something that I wouldn’t normally listen to but it wasn’t terrible. I don’t think I would listen to them on the regular but if it came on I wouldn’t turn it off. I also do feel like every song on this album did feel very similar to the song before it, which is understandable because they seem like they were still finding their sound. All in all I’d give it a 2/5 it wasn’t bad but just not my cup of tea.

We had The Stooges and Velvet Underground. Then The Ramones came along and I'm as bored as they seem to be by their repertoire. An unpopular opinion but after one or two tracks of this, it's time to turn back to the previous mentioned bands to see how it should be done. It's not cool or rebellious or anything other than bored guys being boring. Now Drag Racing Underground's cover of 'Blitzkrieg Bop' does the job better, albeit with plenty of hindsight. So, 2 stars for 'influencing' later bands in some way.

Lidt for ensformigt.

hmm... what to say, what to say... the album cover is A+, and the music? Well, I mean, I understand the influence Ramones play on the punk scene, but it doesn't grab me or move me or make me want more or want to bop around. Many of the songs sound nearly identical to my ear, and since the vocals are difficult to discern, I'm not even sure if the songs are telling a story or merely a series of grumbles and grunts. The opening is fantastic, but beyond that, sorry to say it's a no for me.

I do not care for punk… this is as good as punk gets though

Nope, can't do it. Prog excess and endless directionless noodling by Hendrix wannabes or Dylanesque poetic whiners doesn't justify lionizing these one-note sadly frozen opposition-only pretenders. Yeah they were an imitatable template for many that followed, but being a template doesn't make you a good band.

every song sounds the same

Whole album felt like one song, but a decent one. Would do great for a long, fall walk. Up for my playlist :)

Not my style

What do people see in this??? I am happy that this album helped shape the Punk genre we know today, but I am really more confused about it. I mean come on. The drummer must be so tired having to play the same beat on every fucking song. I was angry about the songs from the Sex Pistols album sounding too much alike, but this is another level. For making these songs, I believe that all they did, was take the same drums and bassline from the previous song, change the guitar a teeny tiny bit, and write some new lyrics. What were they doing? These tracks could actually have been named “Ramones pt. 1”, then “Ramones pt.2” and so on. I mean there isn’t a single really bad song. And if there was one bad song. There would be 14 bad songs. They’re all the same!!! If you have heard any of these songs before and liked it, I would still reccomend that you listen. I mean 1. It’s still a classic. 2. It’s only 29 minutes long. And 3. You’ll find plenty of songs alike (cloned) the one you first knew.

Listen, I love simplicity in Punk Rock. Some of my favorite Punk-adjacent bands don't do anything flashy or unique, just present some really tight and really kick-ass songs. Ramones' self-titled is perhaps a little too simple. The sound is pretty good for the first couple tracks, then gets more and more tiresome until the end when you're begging for a song that feels even a little varied. Blitzkrieg Bop and Judy Is a Punk are basically the only two songs worth listening to, as once you've heard them every other song follows the same formula. This isn't always a bad thing, but I'm not sure if I was ever that big of a fan of Ramones' sound to begin with. Sure, they have most people beat when it comes to foundation and influence of the genre, but at least compared to this album I'm taking New York Dolls every single time. I have slightly more nice things to say about Rocket to Russia, at that point developing their sound to make a studio album worth listening to, but as for their debut it acts more as a museum piece than a good listen. The importance of this album on the Punk Rock movement as a whole cannot be overstated, but in the modern day I really don't have a reason to listen through this album.

The Clash on Monday…Ramones on Friday…a week book-ended by punk. As I said on Monday this project has shown my just how much I do not LIKE the genre. I can recognize the importance of this album and it is very good at what it is - a reflection of a time, a place, and the emotions that go with them. It’s a vibe. A mood. Musically its simple, its repetitive, its at times annoying. It was meant to be. I just like more - complexity, variation, progression - in what I listen to. It’s not them…it’s me. 2/5

Favorite Song: Blitzkrieg Pop Least Favorite Song: Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue Thought to myself that a song was going on for a little too long just to find out that 4 songs had already played. Boooooringggg.

Despite how short the songs were i found this one hard to get through due to how repetitive it was, also just couldnt make out a single word of what they were saying in any of the songs apart from ay oh lets go, Not one for me unfortunately.

Well I was expecting to like this from what I’ve previously heard but it didn’t live up to it. Although the songs are up tempo they’re just not getting that teenage angst feeling about them. A bit limp wristed if I’m honest.

I get it, it was a very early punk album, if not THE early punk album, and it sounded so different from everything in the 70's. By todays standards it sounds like the beatles with the gain turned on.

The album tends to stick to one type of sound and not move away from it. You could select any two songs on the album and they’d sound almost exactly alike.

I think that all of the songs on this album sound the same. I did recognize Beat on the Brat from TikTok but other than that I don’t see myself listening to this album or this type of music? I don’t really like their voices either. The instrumental sounds the same in every song…1/5

This is honestly very boring. But I do understand the impact this sound had back in the day and its everlasting influence in rock music, so it would be unfair to not give its props and recognition. The thing that annoys me is that personally I can’t see any point or feel anything with these collection of songs. It’s purely for the aesthetic of it (and in this case it does fulfill its purpose). Really like Blitzkrieg Bop, Chain Saw and Let’s Dance. If only weren’t for the other 11 songs that sound the exact same without their charm…

Never heard of the Ramones but this album had quite a few songs I knew and liked prior to listening. A lot of the songs did sound repetitive with the same sound

My least favourite bit was the vocals tbh. The songs were also a bit too short so I couldn't quite get into them.

This one was too punky for me - the sound has a raw and slightly jarring quality and this dissonance made my listening experience only just about tolerable. The album also felt repetitive but I feel like this might be related to the slightly irking voice that has literally no variation in tone throughout the 14 tracks.

All these songs are so short they just feel like they're whizzing by. They all kinda sound the same too which isn't helping.

definitely noise

It sounded the same after a while but was good

Not a fan of the Ramones sound

Does the guitarist only know one rift? Although the album has some good songs, it does not offer too much variety. It is a fast listen though.

All of the songs sound like they can be a soundtrack to a coming of age movie. They’re good, I just don’t think I would listen to it on a daily basis. A lot of the songs felt repetitive and had a similar sound.

Sounded pretty similar throughout. Not my jam.

I am not looking forward to this, what I've heard from them before I haven't cared for. This is the last album I'm behind on tho, so might as well get it out of the way now. Maybe I'm actually in for a treat. The music is fine, I guess. Reading through the genius annotations, I really don't like these dudes lol. At least not how they're portrayed there. Oddly a lot of parallels to today's world, the type of attitude of people I just don't fuck with. I was gonna try to give this a 3, but I don't think I can. 2.5/5 is the best I can do. Even on songs like "Listen to My Heart", which lyrically I was vibing with, it just felt like the same instrumental for the 5th time in a row. Then the nazi shit? really really weird, not in a good way.

Not a punk rock fan but overall an OK album.

so far casi todas las canciones suenan muy parecidas pero entiendo pq es un album que si o si debes escuchar me gusto i wanna be your boyfriend esta chila

Classic; nice to hear more than just Hotel California

eloah: 5/10 manu: 5/10

not my favorite and a lot of the songs kind of bleed together as you listen.

Another case of trying and failing to get into punk. This is the more accessible end, there is some catchy songwriting going on for sure, and the vocals are charming, but it just doesn’t really do anything for me sadly.

1 - Can only think of the advert lol. Not bad, most popular so maybe overplayed 2 - Similar vibes to first song. Like it a bit better. 3 - like the instrumental but vocals aren't my cup of tea 4 - nope. Repetitive, boring. 5 - jarring intro lol. Follows the same vibes as the rest of the album 6 - Random. Thank god its only a minute long. Instrumental in the middle is good. 7 - fine. 8 - is this not the same song as previous. Awful lyrics ik its the 70s but still 9 - all these songs sound the same. I suppose you could chalk it up to an album following a theme but its getting a bit boring. Social commentary i think 10 - still sounds the same. Better than the ones previous 11 - interesting. Still has the motif but I like it. More commentary 12 - one of the better ones, I think its a cover 13 - is this pattern of older albums or perhaps debut albums. Repeating the same chorus 5x makes a song apparently. Again the instrumental is very good. Vocals aren't for me 14 - I like this one. Interesting to put last. Social commentary again.

Iconic album, super important for the punk rock movement. Its simplicity probably prompted a lot of people to reconsider music as something more accessible, and led to many people playing. However, this very simplicity doesn't really help it. It gets redundant quickly, despite the songs being 2mn long on average. A fun listen, Blitzkrieg Pop is definitely a bop. But I'd never play the album on repeat

enjoyed parts but i feel like if you took blitzkrieg bop and beat on the brat away its just … ok top 3: - blitzkrieg bop - beat on the brat - i wanna be your boyfriend* *only if you exclude the constant use of the phrase little girl which i just truly hate every time its used in songs in a romantic or sexual context its just really creepy

1 or 2 songs that I enjoyed but found the sound so repetitive and 1 note. Not sure why this is considered such a classic. Top Songs: Blitzkrieg Bop

Quite repetitive, I don't think this album was for me !

Kinda one note to me. Meh I don't love punk. Sorry Ramones fans.

wasn't my cup of tea, maybe I'll like it another time

Bit repetitive

321/1089 - Very homogoneus and the singer sounds like how deaf people talk. I like Post-Punk better when there's more intrresting lines going on and less power chords.

Songs: "Beat on the Brat" 7/10, Thoughts: They sound British but it seems they are all from New York. Cool guitars. Upbeat music. God they sound SO British lol. Easy to see why they were so influential for their time, but a little dated. I don't think it's an Evergreen album to me. The songs kind of blend together because the guitar is the same in all the songs. They songs are all 2 minutes or under, I like that a lot. This is the "hey ho, let's go" band. Rating: 5/10. Not really my cup of tea TBH. But I can see why the band is so iconic.

the same song over and over.

What was groundbreaking back then, doesn’t really hit home for me now. I can appreciate the influence it had on the punk scene but I can’t, in good faith, rate this any more than a 2 because all the songs are derivatives of each other. It’s truly hard to discern the difference between songs after “Blitzkrieg Bop”, which is a bop.

If this is what it took to give birth to an entire genre... I don't know.

*2/5 all-stars encardidos*

this record is the epitome of "...ok". i get why its important in musical history, but it gets samey and predictable after a while. "influential" doesn't automatically mean "great" 5.3/10

I just don't think I'm a fan of punk lol. Thankfully punk tracks are pretty short, but even so, I would love for them to actually GO somewhere.

Is there any type of music that polarizes opinions more than punk? If you want something loud that you can shout or scream along to, lets you vent rage or desperation or nervous energy, that never sounds corny or sleepy or weird, then this is for you. And credit to the band, these short songs get in and out without lingering too long on anything. If you want melody, harmony, innovation, chords you've never heard, comfort, poetry, or sweetness, there's nothing here for you. My main criticism is that this album offers the same thing, over and over again. That may appeal to some. Not to me.

Comparable to consuming a 9 pack of frubes in one sitting. Entertaining to begin with but becomes a bit repetitive. Also a hit or a miss depending on flavour. Enjoyable on the odd occasion but not an essential on the weekly shopping list.

Not a huge fan of that type of rock so sitting through a full album after getting burnt out at blitzkrieg bop was a pain.

Some good tunes but all songs were extremely similar. Would listen to a select few again.

Wasn't special

Punk is dead

I know these songs. Fun pop-style punk. Very hard to distinguish one song from another.

Not for me

Kiekvienos dainos melodija ta pati. Blitzkrieg bop įsimintiniausia.

Not for me

I like it. I understand the cultural significance and I'd probably have fun playing these songs on the guitar. Simple songs can be great and these might be, but the record feels too repetitive for me.

to be honest, all songs sounded almost the same. all they are just 4 chords, bass is almost always just 1/16 notes. did not get annoying, but wasn't exciting either. maybe it is not my style. 2

Blitzkreig Bob and some other mildly good tunes

I hope this sound wasn’t played out in the sixties because it certainly is now. The same song 10/14 times

Blitzkrieg Pop hey ho let's go...that's one I recognized. But otherwise it's still a punk album...which I'm tired of. It's just not my music, it's too repetitive :(

No, I didn't get into this despite the Ramones being a very influential band. Not my cuppa tea.

I wasn't into punk in period. Nearly 50 years later and listening to this I find my opinion hasn't changed. Detached from 'the scene', it is better than I remember and perhaps compares favourably with some of the things that followed. This isn't something I'd choose to listen to. 2/5

Blitzkrieg Bop is just okay. The album was very subpar for me.

rolled my eyes when i got this assignment. but i've literally skipped the past ~5 (i keep getting SHIT) so i decided to lock in. BLITZKRIEG BOP- yeah yeah yeah ok whatever. aye-oh lets go. i honestly quite like joey's voice and the overall production of this song despite how corny and ubiquitous it is BEAT ON THE BRAT- completely devoid of any sort of feeling and already establishing the repetitiveness of this record JUDY IS A PUNK- i could literally scream omg why is every song IDENTICAL with stupidass lyrics to boot! I WANNA BE YOUR BOYFRIEND- slop CHAIN SAW- so far the most inventive track here, the first i can see myself listening to again. why does he pronounce 'massacre' like that though? SNIFF SOME GLUE- fun. probably has the clearest resemblance to contemporary punk and is a clear blueprint to later work. BASEMENT- i am trying to stay charitable but my patience is wearing thin... how is this SO tedious. i also thought this album was released much earlier; the fact that it's from 1976 only aggravates my disinterest. like, the kinks released s/t a decade prior. LOUDMOUTH- ok. HAVANA AFFAIR- literally didn't realize the previous song had ended and a new one began lol. i do honestly like the lyrics of this one though. LISTEN TO MY HEART- kind of a gem for me. uninspiring and same, but i appreciate it. 53rd and 3rd- ok im literally at wits end. can we wrap this up. LETS DANCE- i don't like joey's voice anymore!!! SHUT UP!!!! i will spare the final two tracks from any kind of comment lest my review becomes just as tedious as this album was. maybe someone pissed in my cheerios or something but this is just sooo. insufferable. i'ma give it 2 stars though because there WERE a couple tracks i enjoyed, and i would be remiss to not take into consideration their (unexplainable) influence on future music. i wish this site had half-stars though, cause it's more like a 1.75...

2.5 - it was alright but so so simple and I get it yes punk is like thay but its just not what im looking for other than for a fun vibe sometimes.

Potentially unpopular opinion but I think Ramones are overrated.

Get an additional star for it's length... My ears get tired after a couple of songs. Remones has recorded better albums.

Imagine your entire career being based off the success of one song. 5/10

Picking a highlight song from this album seems pointless as they're more or less all the same song. If my score was measured by cultural and musical impact this would score top marks as throughout my life I have been unable to escape Blitzkrieg Bop, I fucking hate that song. It does serve as a good sign that if it is in a piece of media or a movie trailer that those involved in making this are lazy and creatively bankrupt so I can save myself sometime and avoid it. Despite a lean runtime of 29 minutes, it feels extremely bloated. I am glad that basically every musical act that cites these guys as an inspiration are better than this. Highlights: Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue

Just alright. Really punky not my thing plus all songs sound the same.

the hits are decent but the rest of the album gets old fast, just not my thing

Just not for me. Maybe too straightforward.

Musically just so basic, nothing I can enjoy about it

Punk for 50 year olds who think they’re still hip.

Blitzkrieg Bop is so good. Didnt like the rest. Ramon's just not for me.

Not as fun as I was expecting tbh!
