Just wasn't my cup of tea, but there's truly beautiful moments of lyricism and instrumentals on display. I don't think I added any songs except Simple Man, and considered Free Bird, but the length felt too long for myself.

A victim of its own success. This album has been played to death. “Change the station!”, I bark in one breath. This review is not a limerick (just ask Jim or Rick).

Don’t hate Tuesdays Gone. I have more tolerance for 3 guitars, keys and longer jams. Relieved this album does not contain Sweet Home Alabama. Feels right to listen to this contractor rock sitting in my truck during my work break. The guitar riffs are hooky but it just sounds like any bloooz rockin boomer dad. Gimme three steps is tedious. Simple Man I enjoy— can feel the lineage to 90’s rockers like Temple of the Dog. Don’t mind that. Apparently this song played when my friend Greg was born and his parents cried. After that the record is a slog for me. When free bird ended it took me a moment to compute that the record was over. Thank god. Kinda f/w this album artwork. Bone font & outfits. Happy there are no stars and bars featured here even though 90% of their promo photos have the confederate flag. I don’t know who from the photo died in the plane crash but now I’m curious.

I enjoyed this album, possibly because it followed Mariah Carey? I’m not a big fan of country rock but I am a fan of guitar solos and there are plenty of those. I’m not sure I would listen to this again but I’m glad I have listened to it once. On reflection, (I’m listening to free bird as I type this) the guitar solos bang on a bit too much. This album was getting a three, but I have reduced it to a two based on the needless monotony of the free bird solo. This review was started at the beginning of the free bird solo and it’s still going!! It’s just at that really high fast twangy bit and starting to come down a bit. Oh, it’s starting to fade, I hate a fade as a way of dealing with a song ending, but I’m going to give this one a pass, I just wish it had faded sooner.

I feel like I should have liked this one more than I did, but I found it pretty boring and hard to get through tbh (or maybe it was too much prosecco and too little sleep after NYE?). Country/southern rock isn't really my thing (except CCR but that's all sentimental) So I could skip listening to this album again - except for Free Bird which is epic (even with the very long solo). What I didn't quite get was there are 7 musicians on the cover of the album, but the songs feel like there are only 4 or maybe 5 people playing at once? hmm Fird birdiest track: Free bird

I don't want to listen to this. I'm gonna listen to the first 30 secs of every song instead. Initial impressions are I'd really like this if I were 50. And there are prob some nights after I've been drinking a long time where I'd like this. Gimme three steps rules ofc. I'm listening to this in the port authority getting on prov bus. Didn't realize simple man was on here. Alright I'm kinda done with this. I'm in a real give it a chance type of mood and it's not hitting. I gave much more than 30 secs to each song

Easy listening blues rock, the best bit is the harmonizing guitar leads and melodic (vs shredding) solos. The songs are overlong - chugging along through one basic chord progression over and over verse chorus chorus chorus solo chorus. Tuesday's Gone is good, the rest is pretty meh and I cannot listen to Freebird one more time. Listen to Little Feat and the Allman Brothers instead.

It's a bit of Led Zeppelin and a bit of The Band, but not as good as either of them. In all fairness, they were there before The Band. They know how to play, but the songs are not very interesting to me. Favorite song: I ain't the one. Because they obviously aren't.

The classicest of classic rock from the Southern States. I didn't hate it, but any Southern Man would love it. I was surprised to find that I didn't recognise Free Bird. I always thought it was on Forrest Gump (but perhaps that's just the solo?). Either way, the track didn't really strike me in the way I expected given its reputation as a classic. As terrifying as these dudes look on the album cover, this isn't too bad. I think I only knew "Free Bird" previously, which is obviously a great song. Not really my thing anymore though, 3 min long screechy guitar solos don't really turn my head like they used to! Apart from that song, I found most of this pretty forgettable...they're no Creedence anyway

No album has any right to have two ballads as big as "Tuesday's Gone" and "Free Bird."

Frankly, I find Lynyrd Skynyrd mildly boring and uninspiring even before we add the "that did not age particularly well" factor.

My son has recently discovered 'Freebird'. I've tried to talk him out of it.

Extremely competent but continues to not grab me. As for Freebird, impossible to hear without picturing a high Jenny (Robin Wright) pinballing around a balcony.

I've never been a fan, due to my dislike of Sweet Home Alabama, but the first song I can dig. It has an Allman Brothers-meets-the-Stooges feel to it. "Tuesday's Gone" and the intro to "Three Steps" sound Stones inspired. The anthems (which I've managed to avoid most of my life) sound a bit Eagles-inspired and you know how we all feel about the Eagles. If you remove the anthems, and just listen to the more bluesy numbers, it's not bad, though it falls short of The Drive-By Truckers Southern Rock Opera which was dedicated to Lynyrd Skynyrd, and I gave that a 3, though I was stingy.

Listen to opening track ‘I Ain’t The One’, bluesy rocker ‘Poison Whiskey’ and the rightly lauded closer ‘Free Bird’. Skip the rest.

Inégale comme album. On y retrouve les 2 plus grands hits du groupe, qui sont quand même efficaces. Personnellement j'ai préféré le côté rock des pièces I Ain't The One et Poison Whiskey. C'est d'ailleurs sur cette dernière pièce que ça m'a frappé que Stone Temple Pilots ont sûrement été influencés par ce style et probablement cet album.

I'm starting to think I might be allergic to Southern Rock. Either that or I have a Southern Rock intolerance. If I drank enough whiskey it might help me to be able to digest this deep fried pork chop of an album. Either way I think I might end up puking.

Most American thing I’ve heard in a long time

I accidentally turned the volume all the way down halfway during free bird and decided to keep it that way

(Pronounced 'Lĕh-'nérd 'Skin-'nérd) by Lynyrd Skynyrd just isn’t for me. It sits firmly in that Southern rock space that I’ve never really connected with, and this album didn’t do anything to change that. At times it feels like a rougher, less compelling take on Neil Young’s style, but without the same depth or individuality. I can see why it might appeal to fans of the genre, and there’s clearly a strong identity to the band’s sound, but personally I struggled to find anything that really grabbed me or made me want to come back for more. I gave it a couple of listens to be fair, but it never clicked. Compared to something like Fine Art by Kneecap, which feels fresh and interesting, this just didn’t hold my attention in the same way. Favourite tracks: Nothing really stood out or stuck with me Least favourite tracks: The album felt quite flat throughout, with no tracks that broke through or lifted it Album artwork: Fairly standard cover, nothing particularly memorable

Haven’t heard this one for over 50 years. Decided not to listen yesterday either. Nope.

This debacle is proof of the once ever present monoculture. I’ve never once actively sought out Lynard Skynard in any way. I’ve never bought an album, illegally downloaded a song, watched a video, or searched a song on a streaming service, yet I knew every word to half of the songs on this album. They’re not good songs, but somehow they’ve been around my whole life. All hail the monoculture!

This is just one of those albums that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Glad to get it over with.

I would listen to 2/13 of these songs on this album. I’m not a huge fan of slow songs, or songs with so much guitar in it to the point where it becomes overwhelming. Maybe I’m not a huge fan of the blues, but I wouldn’t turn it off it if came on. It’s a bit of a shock to admit because I am a huge emo/metal/pop-punk listener, but for some reason I can’t seem to feel satisfied listening to this album. “Tuesday’s Gone” seems to be one of the only favorites from this album. I love the melancholy and soft grit in Ronnie VaZant’s voice adds so much character to the music. It makes me feel like I’m far from home and looking for new ways to find myself. It’s a beautiful song. Another song I enjoyed off this album is “Free Bird,” an easily recognizable song just from the first couple notes. I’ve only ever been properly exposed to this song through memes over the internet, but the lyricism is actually very beautiful, it makes me want to fall in love. One of the longer songs on the album, over 5 minutes long (I can’t go back and check lol.) I love the buildup but I can’t stay for the entirety of it. It starts to feel like a lot. I wish I could go more in depth on how this album made me feel as I am not a fan of country nor “Dad Rock” I find it insufferable and hard to sit through. This album is only an hour and sixteen minutes long but every song felt like an eternity. Im not sure how that’s possible. I read a bit of the description Spotify has for the artists and it’s sad to find out how early into their careers the members have passed on. I believe this album is nice, but I would not willingly turn it on.

I could not ignore how misogynistic and sexist the lyrics are even though the sound was not as bad, the lyrics ruin the experience for me. From the first track, I noticed it and immediately knew how the rest of the album is gonna be, but I still thought I should listen to the whole album before making a judgment.

Unfortunately the great musicianship on this record is completely flawed by what this group stood for at the time. I can't help the political things immediately coming to mind when listening. Freebird is such a great song, but I simply cannot listen to it without thinking of hateful societies. A shame.

There is no questioning this band’s status in the rock music community , the success that they achieved, the inspiration they gave..but it passed me by and even now I revisit it with a more musically open (& educated?) mind (or ears??) but cannot engage wit it, like it or appreciate it, sorry it’s not you it’s me (maybe)

I'm at a loss for how to rate music by people that are demonstratively shitty. This is gonna keep happening with this list and I go back and forth each time. Great music for a Klan rally, I guess? 1.

Although this should be up my alley, I could never get into Skynyrd. Apart from Sweet Home Alabama, their stuff always feels a bit heavy-footed. The ‘blue collar’ lyrics feel like a schtick. For example Simple Man - a song about the homespun advice of a mother, telling her son to live a modest life… all set to thunderous , legs apart bombastic rock chords. Seems contradictory. Compare that to Salt of The Earth by The Stones where a similar theme is backed a more folksy, stripped back arrangement. Freebird is similarly ponderous navel-gazing strewn with interminable distorted guitar solos. There’s no interplay, it’s just three lead guitarists taking turns to try and out-wank each other. Gimme Three Steps is reasonable because they tone it down a bit, but the lyrics are so bad (“Hey there fella with the hair coloured yella”) that even a simple boogie tune gets annoying. I pretty much hate this.
