Reviews (page 7 of 13)

Listened to it once yesterday whilst deep in concentration on some work stuff, and it kind of washed over me, didn't take any of it in. Listened again this morning and was much more impressed. All the usual Dylan criticisms apply; his voice isn't great and the way he inflects his voice is weird and a bit annoying, but the storytelling is great, he combines some pretty cutting snarkiness with really tender moments and it's a really good listen (barring a couple of tracks that are a bit too on the nose). I don't enjoy Dylan enough to give it a 5, but it's definitely a 4.

Good album, found it kind of samey though. Apparently I already listened to it before, but I don’t remember it, so that’s something

okay I finally get Dylan, I think, some great tracks

Harmonica is craaazy

This is a good album for #100 since I love Bob Dylan and don't really have anything new to say about him. My review of the whole project so far: it's pretty clear that white boomers compiled this list - so much classic rock. I like classic rock, but I feel like it's over represented. I haven't gotten a single country album - I realize it's not a "cool" genre, but there's so much good stuff out there; maybe I'll get 900 country albums from here on. Overall, though, I have been enjoying the project. I have found some artists that I had never heard of and now really love, and I'm excited to keep on with it. Despite the prevalence of rock, I have discovered a new love of jazz and rekindled my love of funk

Great!

This was my favorite album all of Fall 2016. I listened to it every single day on my commute from Frederick to Baltimore during my final semester of college. The surreal lyricism, the arrangements with Robbie Robertson and some of the members the Band, Al Kooper's organ wailing across most of the tracks- it all still holds up for me. This album is perfect for driving down uncrowded American roadways on a bright, crisp Autumn morning or late afternoon. No doubt there are some songs you just have to get through. Rainy Day Women is probably the worst album opener of all time, and followed by Pledging my Time wouldn't sell me on sticking it out if I was listening to this for the first time. But even the songs that are sillier like Leopard-Skin Pillbox Hat are great- "It balance on your head just like a mattress balances on a bottle of wine" is a hysterical visual, and the ripping blues guitar makes a song that is pretty dumb and makes it enjoyable. Once you get to Visions of Johanna, it's mostly up. Visions, One of Us Most Know, I Want You, and Stuck Inside of Mobile are incredible. If you do listen to this in the fall like I said, you'll understand instantly why I Want You was the main falling in love song in I'm Not There when Heath Ledger and the Charlotte Gainsbourg are riding the motorcycle through the country side. If you replaced one of the blues songs with Positively Fourth Street, a single released during this same area and probably the most clever and cutting "Go Fuck Yourself" song in Dylan's catalogue, it would elevate this album. But even without it, the "thin, wild mercury sound" across most of the tracks, transports. Best moments: The 4-song stretch between Visions of Johanna and Stuck in Mobile. And if you made it through the first 9 minutes of Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands, the final 2 minute harmonica outro.

Reluctant 4 stars. This has such a great depth in the lyrics and yet has Dylan as the singer. Some of the best harmonica work ever recorded

Not my favorite of Dylan's stuff, 3.8.

I don't have the greatest grasp on Dylan in terms of where the lines are between his different phases and artistic personas. There is a lot of mythologizing that goes in to him, particularly the earlier eras that were more than 50 years ago now. That being said this is a rock record recording with a rock band as backing musicians, so it seems this is post Dylan going electric. A lot of very well known songs on here, and the rest of the record has a swing to it that gives it a drive. I am guessing if I listened to this a lot more I'd think it was phenomenal. Obviously a great record.

As far as a Bobby album goes, this is good and that’s all I have to say about that

Great great album, one of the greats my dad showed my early on in life. Incredible songs on this album including Stuck in Mobile, what a perfect song. Very good album! Can’t wait to see more on this list!

Have listened to this one a lot, Visions of Johanna has always been one of my favourite Bob Dylan songs and the whole album is great

Such an iconic voice and lyrics. I really want a leopard-skinned pill-box hat The harmonic fucks

Everybody must get stoned. There are some sweet guitars on this one that don't necessarily stand out but absolutely make some of these songs for me. I have never wanted a Leopard-Skin Pill-Box hat more.

Musically a fun folk journey led by Dylan's meandering, drawn out vocals. Elements of jazz throughout. Standout is "Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again."

Rainy Day Women #12&35- Full of energy, really like this one 👍 Pledging my time- Catchy 👍 Visions of Johanna- Very interesting lyrics, with a good melody 👍 One of us must know- High intensity song, love the instrumental in the background 👍 I want you- Slightly generic, but probably one of the catchiest Bob songs I’ve heard 👍 Stuck inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues again- I like the chorus, but a few too many extraneous verses Leopard skin pillbox hat- One of the less engaging Dylan tales Just like a woman- This works, sets scene well 👍 Temporary Achilles Absolutely Sweet Marie, 4th time around- 👍 Obviously Five Believers- quite generic bob song here Sad-eyed Lady of The Lowlands- this is where Bob loses me, just another level of meandering and plodding I liked this album for the most part, I think the first half is definitely stronger though. 4/5

He can’t sing for shit and the guitar and harmonica makes my ears bleed but the songs r gr8.

Not typically a Dylan fan but this album has some great tunes underscoring the lyricism which is normally what I find lacking.

It's Bob frickin' Dylan, mans a legend. but I will note I feel certain tracks would hit better if I was under the influence of drugs/alcohol.

7th and final Bob Dylan album

I think I’d place this in the second tier of Dylan on this list, below Free Wheelin’ and Highway 61, and just a bit under Blood on the Tracks. It could move up to a 9 upon further listening, but for now it’s an 8/10.

Loved this

I've heard this one so many times before, I don't know if I even need to listen to it for this project, or even need to write any listening notes

Relisten. Hard to tell when listening to something like this if I'm responding to the material at hand or just the blueprint-ness of it all, but I enjoyed it. A bit long though. 4.5/5

Not big on Dylan but I am BIG on this album. An all time nostalgic favourite.

Pretty decent effort from Dylan

Don't tell anyone I like Bob Dylan

Blues riffs, harmonicas, social commentary, and a NYC focus? I'M STAYIN'. Look, say what you want about the quality of his vocals, Dylan is a songwriting force to be reckoned with. This album is fantastic.

Dylan hitting his stride

Classic. A bit long for my tastes and I prefer his first two in this “trilogy”

One of the top Dylan albums showcasing his move into mainstream rock n roll blues. Catchy songs and lots of fun. An easy listen and definitely one of the important albums of the mid ‘60s.

Haven't listened to Bobby D in a while but it still holds up

It was pretty good I guess. His voice is a big annoying and the songs were really long. But still good for it’s time.

My god do I hate Rainy Day Women #12 & 35. Beyond that, this is the Bob I remember hearing as a child and _not getting_. A lot of chunka-chunka-chunka-chunka rhythms and whiny (so nasal!!!) voice. I definitely have a higher tolerance for the sound today. Four stars for being so Bob seven albums in. Not many folks can make this many albums and have #7 have such an iconic sound.

Some brilliant beautiful lyrical standouts and some glorious blues throughbacks. Great album.

A great one, though I think at length there is something of a monotony of tone, and Dylan’s vocals are mostly near their most obstinately Dylan-y. Still an album I’m happy to give a listen pretty much any time.

this was a good one!

The first folk album that blew my mind. I know that folk artists are basically poets, but here Bob Dylan is on another level. I love the images and narratives that he conjure with the lyrics, and I regretted not focusing on them much. Maybe next time when I am not too busy. As for the sound, we got some delicious harmonica fiddling. Some tracks are bluesy and some have rock elements. I enjoyed it a lot and I know that this is something special. So while it tend to be boring sometimes, I think it will grow on me after a few re-listens.

I wasn't sure what I was going to get with this one. I like Dylan well enough, but we got his "Live 1966" album recently and it wasn't great—a lethargic performance that was so nasal it was like he was doing a bad impersonation of himself. But this was the Bob Dylan I was looking for, far more lively than "Live 1966," with a healthy helping of blues. "Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat" is deliciously bluesy, and "Rainy Day Women #12 & 35" is a classic bit of silliness that's probably familiar to anyone who's ever been within 20 feet of a stoner. Then we've got Dylan staples like "Visions of Johanna," "I Want You," and "Just Like a Woman." I love me some harmonica, but he hits it a *little* hard on this album, especially on "Pledging My Time." Other than that, the only complaint I have is that it's a little long at 72+ minutes. As good as he can be, I prefer Dylan in smaller doses.

Ok I count myself as a non-fan of Bob Dylan - nasal voice, too derivative from his influences in folk of the time and well I probably (misguidedly) think he is overrated. This record though is the one that I warmed up to most of his - and after listening through the hundreds of albums so far - you start feeling the records with secret sauce - and this one is one of those.

The fifth Bob Dylan album we've had so far. Not as good as Highway 61 Revisited, but still a nice album with a couple of very good tracks such as Visions Of Johanna.

I know it is a classic but I'd say a third of the songs are lesser Dylan songs in my book. Visions of Johanna is a favorite. Also Stuck Inside Mobile... it is really good but not my favorite byba long shot.

Probably the first Dylan album I've immediately thought I would listen to again at some point in the near future. Having some ace session musicians and members of the Band backing him up probably helps a lot - the screeching harmonica isn't doing a lot of heavy lifting this time around.

Day 1! October 24th 2022. Very nice! First Dylan album I listened to in its entirety. Some songs were a drag, but most of them were really nice. I'm surprised by how bluesy it was, felt like every other song employed the 12-bar blues. Will listen again and add a few of the songs to my playlist. Didn't get into the lyrics for this listen-through, but will have to do so on future ones!

Good album. Is a little bit the same, but still one of the greats

I didn’t expect to enjoy this one, at first I thought his style was too monotonous but I really vibed out with this one

Really good fall album

Dylan being Dylan

Too much harmonica.

Calming nice album

More upbeat than I was expecting

It's established canon (by the gatekeepers) and has been for the whole of my lifespan and yet it's nowhere near my favourite Dylan album. Don't know what it is, it has some of his best individual songs but never gels. To many songs? Too long (overall)? It's no 'Highway 61 Revisited' or 'Bringing It Back Home' or 'Blood On The Tracks' and maybe that's the only thing that's really wrong with it.

A lot more varied than I'd remembered.

This is an interesting album. On the one hand, it's not my favorite album in terms of the overall style of the music and lyrics. On the other hand, I recognize almost every one of these songs from either the radio or from appearances in movies and TV. I think it's good overall, though I'm not sure why this album gets so much praise relative to a lot of other Dylan albums made in this period. Blonde on Blonde is commonly held up as the pinnacle of Dylan. It's good, but I feel like it's substantially similar in terms of quality to a lot of his other albums. To be fair though, I've never been the biggest Dylan fan. He's good, but not really my thing 4/5

Cut the harmonica and you have a 1 hour 5/5 album. Bob is very comforting. When everything is balanced he is best. Some of it is too long. 90s bobs voice goes funny like he’s trying to sound like himself a little. Would listen again.

Proper classic

Rating: 8/10 Best songs: Visions of Johanna, I want you, Just like a woman

Listened to most of it. Have known a few of the tracks for some time. Very weird yet accessible for him. Rick Danko is on some bass, quite good. Fav Track: Fourth Time Around

Maybe it was growing up to him on the warm sound of spinning vinyls. Maybe it was people spontaneously singing the lyrics around me. I'll always have a home for the too often reviled Dylan. This album is a masterwork. A lullaby by its end and so many of the greatest hits are on it. Dylan is indeed a prince and an American icon. That said, I finally went to see him at Jazzfest one year. The swamp was so hot that I ended up 10,000 miles away from the jumbotron smashed between de-shirted frat bros, and it made me reconsider. All of those images were in my head as I enjoyed some of the lesser known tracks. Stellar artist and a great example.

Rainy day women is about my mom and her intrusive sister when they used to raid my room looking for my stash... Ha! I laugh at you... trying to rain on my parade. You two are clowns, every kid knows that the best place to keep your doobage is in the locker at school and guarded by a guillotine. Very convenient for those early morning detention sessions with Claire and the other fools. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUIAlHjdFGE

Bob Dylan writes some absolutely beautiful songs. And cannot sing.

I found it pretty good. I often struggle to get into Bob’s music but the instrumentals are pretty lavish and fun on here so that kept me interested. I still gotta listen again to figure out the cryptic lyrics but looking for ward to that. 7/10

I mean, it's Dylan. Can't go wrong with this one.

3.5/5. It’s Bob Dylan. So it’s pretty good, but not as good as people seem to make it.

The best Dylan album.

Bob Dylan is great. I can understand why people love him. Just not for me so much.

I have this LP, so this is the first album that I have already listened to from start to finished prior to this listening project.

I was only familiar with two or three songs from Blonde On Blonde, eventhough I know that this is one of Bob Dylan's albums that is frequently recommended by his fans. I like Dylan, but it takes a bit of proding for me to explore more of his work. This album sounds like a Bob Dylan album, and is even a source for paradies of Dylan. (Brak from Space Ghost, Coast to Coast included). Blonde On Blonde includes Dylan's iconic voice with his drawn out syllables to the point that the vocals are more spoken word than singing. I have a harder time with the drawn out slow delivery, but the combined whole of the tracks can be interesting. There are reasons to listen to this album. Particularly by the last four tracks ("Absolutely Sweet Marie", "4th Time Around", "Obviously 5 Believers", "Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands") there is enough energy to the music and melody to the vocals that I can round up to a full four stars.

Pièces préférées: Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again, I Want You, Just Like A Woman, Visions of Johanna, Most Likely You Go Your Way

Man so damn classic! Even if you don't like Dylan, the fact that pretty much everyone still knows these songs 50+ years later is insane. The guy could write a song about any random mundane part of life and it would still be a classic.

I've always known the name Bob Dylan as well as some of his most famous songs, but listening to this album was my first foray into Dylan fandom. That is to say, I very much enjoyed this "side" of Dylan. I find his voice goofy and not particularly beautiful, but it somehow works, and the musicality of the songs themselves isn't in question, even if they come off as laidback and carefree. For me, the type of enjoyment was similar to that of listening to Randy Newman.

One of my favs of his for sure.

On Steve's bachelor party trip, on the van ride back to NJ there was a discussion about favorite Bob Dylan albums. I listened to him but never played through one of his albums from start to finish (blasphemous for a singer-songwriter). When I was asked, I think I responded with \"Highway 61\" because it was the one that had tracks on it that I actually knew and knew the names of. Someone had said \"Blonde On Blonde\" (Steve? Or was it Steve Fingerhut?) and so the next day or a few days later when I was at work I threw it on and loved it. It's a great album and a strong follow-up to Highway 61 Revisited. It feels fun and energetic compared to the common idea of what Bob Dylan sounds like. The only downside of this album is that it relies so heavy on the blues chord progression, and there's really only so much you can do with that in similar keys and instrumentation before the songs start to blur together and get a little predictable. It's still an amazing album but for someone who has drilled the blues progression a few hundred times, my mind can't help but drift when listening to it in an album format.

Great but meh

listened to again man this is an absolute classic and a must listen

A strange ramshackle glorious affair. Dylan's stream of consciousness lyrics are a wonder to behold.

I get why people like him and can appreciate the music but his iconic voice is a bit much after an hour straight. The music changes but every song the vocals sound too similar

Great Dylan album.

Usually, Dylan's music passes right by me. I think this album is the main exception: it's musical enough for me, and it includes several tracks that really penetrate.

Excellent

Swag…. Han sjunger episkt…

The increased musical variety courtesy of being a double album is… cheeelin

Respekt till Bob Dylan.... älskar hur han sjunger.

I listened to this some time ago and was happy to get reacquainted with some of the lesser-known tracks like "Visions of Johanna" and "Obviously Five Believers". It's still "Just like a Woman" for me, such a complex, emotional, and probably biographical song suffused with real love.

Tähän mennessä selvästi parasta Dylania listalla. Levyn kahden ensimmäisen tylsän bluesjurnuttelun jälkeen päästiin eteenpäin vähän seesteisimmissä tunnelmissa. En ennakkoon tuntenut yhtäkään levyn kappaleista, mutta varsikin peräkkäinen kolmikko One of Us Must Know, I Want You ja Stuck Inside plaaplaa on todella kovaa tykitystä. Levyn loppupuoli tarjoili muutakin rauhallisen tyylikästä Dylania. Hieno levy, joka kohensi reippaasti omaa mielipidettäni Dylanista. Parhaimmillaan vitosen arvoisia veivauksia, mutta ehkä nuo bluesfiilistelyt pudottaa arvosanan vahvaksi neloseksi.

Dylan is great, but I do start to feel like the songs blend together

Very good! It's a little bit of a mixed bag at times, and maybe a couple of songs could have been cut, but the songs that are good are excellent. And even the ones that I don't like as much aren't really bad, it's just that the album is long enough that you could cut a song or two and nobody would be complaining. I'd give it a 4.5 if I could.

Kid's got a future.

Classic Dylan

There are three Dylan albums that are in my all time favorite albums. This is one of them. Granted, it’s the third out of three, but it’s a masterpiece. Besides the obvious hits here, “One of Us Must Know (Sooner or Later)” and “Visions of Joanna” are hidden gems. Love this one.

I’m not as big of a Dylan fan as I would like to be but I really like this album!

Say what you will about his singing, but Bob Dylan knows how to write songs. This is a very good listen.

Lyrics are brilliant, but his voice (and the harmonica) does get a bit annoying

This is the best Dylan that I got here at this project until now, but I'm wondering that, at the end of the day, I don't like so much of Bob Dylan as I thought. I know that probably is some kind of a crime somewhere in the world, but I prefer his "rock" songs (like some in this album) over his "folk" ones, that is the majority of his work. Maybe, listening to it some other times brings to me new perspectives and I change my mind, but I like this very much of this Dylan album exactly because it sounds less like Bob Dylan for me.

Not my favourite Dylan album but it is still excellent.

This is one of 3-4 Dylan records that I listen to with some regularity. I like the sound of the record. The shrill and clanky guitars, the long, piercing harmonica notes, and Dylan's songwriting, of course. I know this is probably one of his most heralded records. It deserves the accolades. "Rainy day women..." is a brilliantly subversive song. That being said, I'll reserve the 5/5 for "Highway 61 Revisited" and "Bringing it All Back Home."

Not my favourite Dylan album but some really good songs on here

I dont like country but this wasnt horrible

Blonde on Blonde by Bob Dylan (1966) I suppose that a young listener hearing this recording for the first time might wonder what all the fuss is about, included as it is on nearly every list of the greatest albums of all time. I can suggest two reasons for this perplexity: (1) Many of Dylan’s creative innovations have become so standard that they now seem routine, and (2) Twenty-first century ears have not yet caught up with twentieth-century poetry. However, surely everyone agrees that at least until the boomer generation (i.e., mine) completely dies out, this double LP will be regarded as one of the greatest albums ever produced (but see below). What makes this music great is that it consists of a first-rate synthesis of first-rate poetry with first-rate rhythmic and melodic construction. These three elements combine exponentially in Blonde on Blonde. Bob Dylan’s music blows rather than sucks (please, dear reader, try to avoid profane associations with this image). Most popular music sucks. That is to say, it inhales from its musical culture those elements that have proved successful—mixing, arranging, and elaborating on them in interesting and entertaining ways. Dylan’s music, on the other hand, blows. It exhales into its musical culture a spirit/wind/breath of substance—vivifying, enlightening, and nourishing the soul of the listener. Where pop music takes (symbiotically or even parasitically), Dylan’s music gives. It evokes passion in the listener by rendering him or her passive. The listener gasps. The listener receives. The listener learns. The listener grows. If one wants to begin accessing Dylan’s poetry in Blonde on Blonde, I might suggest starting with track #5 “I Want You” and focus on everything he says other than “I Want You”. Nothing is here by accident. And it isn’t until the last line of the final verse that we discover that his desire for his woman is the cause of all these deceptively random and seemingly nonsensical reflections. Throughout this album, from the reassuring observation that undeserved suffering is the common lot of humanity (via the playfully paronomastic “Everybody must get stoned” in “Rainy Day Women #12 & 35”) to the insight that “She says ‘your debutante just knows what you need, but I know what you want’” (“Stuck Inside of Mobile With the Memphis Blues Again”), we hear such lyrical delights as oxymoron raised to an art (“Temporary Like Achilles”) and the hymnic encomium of “Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands”. We weep more than once. In terms of images, can we not exult in picturing the “jelly faced woman with the mustache say ‘Jeez, I can’t find my knees’” (“Visions of Johanna”)? And surely there’s no more inventive lament than this: “And here I sit so patiently Waiting to find out what price You have to pay to get out of Going through all these things twice” Please note the exquisite yet subtle change in the final chorus of “Just Like a Woman”, after he has said to his ex-lover, “I believe it's time for us to quit, but when we meet again, introduced as friends, please don't let on that you knew me when I was hungry and it was your world . . . “. Now after all this praise, I hope the reader will not be disappointed or stunned when I say that this is not Dylan’s best. He stumbles over his own poetry at least twice, and the studio musicians appear to just be along for the ride, especially Al Kooper on keyboards (overrated at this stage of his career). Much better albums by Dylan both before and after Blonde on Blonde include The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan (1963), Highway 61 Revisited (1965), Blood on the Tracks (1975), Desire (1976), and Time Out of Mind (1997). I don’t think it’s just a matter of taste. But this album is worth a serious listen, time and again. 4/5

It's good, just a bit overrated. His voice can sound annoying at times.

Obviously very good

Ok...so is it sacrilege to say that Blonde on Blonde pales in comparison to Highway 61, Revisited? Well for me it does. I also prefer Blood on the Tracks, and possibly Bringing it all Back Home. But this is a review of B on B. It's a great album but for me it's more along the lines of The Basement Tapes, more feel than substance. In my opinion there is a pretty high rate of filler on Blonde on Blonde in comparison to some of Dylan's best but it's still Dylan during his most creative period, but I just don't think that it's the all time classic that it is widely considered to be. 4.25 stars

Lækkert album, men lidt for meget skinger mundharmonika til at man kan bruge det som baggrundsmusik.

Would go back and listen again. Found it to be very interesting.

Bob’s your uncle 👍🏾

Very good songs on here, but the harmonica can be a little bit overbearing sometimes.

Never really got in to Dylan before, but glad this gave me a chance to listen to an album in full. Still not a huge fan of his vocals, its an acquired taste but thoroughly enjoy the composition, sound and bluesy/country/folk/rock feel. Surprisingly enjoyable

Joyful melodies and rocking rhythms. And lyrically so perfect. A true classic and deserving it’s place in this list

A smooth and good sounding album from an icon

Enjoyable! Although i prefer Stevie's harmonica.

Number 2 of 1,00,. First time listening. Enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Has some of the stuff that initially put me off Dylan: the harmonica, the voice, the "prestige artist" stuff. It's good fun though, and would definitely benefit from repeated listens. Will dive back in.

I literally cannot stand this man's voice it kills me but how can you rate low? You can't. Would be a 5 if his voice didn't grate on my nerves.

Some of my favorite Dylan is on this album. A classic.

Excellent. Some brilliant tracks that I hadn't heard before.

Classic slice of Bobby D! Not his best… but still outstanding!

Cannot complain

Good album. Some classic songs. Some misses

I mean its Bob Dylan

Awesome album. Classic Tock at it’s best

I really liked melodies.

- classic album I've heard for awhile now that brings back a lot of memories - enjoy the more blues-y tracks ("Pledging my Time", "Leopard Skin pill box hat")

Catchy but not a huge fan of his voice.

lyrics 5/5 composition 2.5/5

Lyrically enjoyed this. Iconic but a little Monotonous- (unpopular opinion)

pretty good

Šta reći o ovom albumu? Malkoc fali da bude petica, a nije toliko slaba četvorka. Jednostavno top 3 Dylanovih albuma, predivan, dosta harmonike, lijepe lirike, odlične atmosfere. Svake godine se mora poslušati par puta, tu nema premca.

50% poet 50% musician. Beautiful blues and classic Dylan.

7/10 Very pleasant to listen to, the album has a wonderful start and remains consistent throughout. Not sure how to properly explain it but listening to it gives off the feeling of ‘home’, a very peaceful feeling. My only gripe is the harmonica, perhaps it was great during its time and hasn’t aged well, or maybe it’s a personal preference, but the harmonica disturbs that peaceful feeling. Favs: One of Us Must Know, Most Likely You Go Your Way

For me, this is the sort of album you put on and dance around your apartment/house and clean to. So much energy - "Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat," "Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I'll Go Mine)," and "Obviously Five Believers" stand out to me. Love how long the songs are as well, as most artists feel constricted to streaming #'s these days which = short, hallow feeling songs. Tons of emotion. I'll give it a 4.

I really liked this album, though I think Blood on the Tracks is probably better overall.

I own this one

I love this album. Music great. Bob....well is Bob.

Altijd vreemd om nummers die je enkel kent als Vlaamse cover ineens in het Engels te horen. Mooi album met sterke nummers.

Oké album voor op de achtergrond

put me on a little bit of dylan kick over the weekend. there's a lot on it; some parts of which works better than other parts but when it's great, it's great

Yeah, this a good album.

The album starts off kind of bad with my least favorite song, "Rainy Day Women #12 & 35." The lyrics seem not up to Dylan's typical standards and I don't love what sounds like a drunk brass band as the instrumentation. "Pledging My Time" also isn't my favorite and the harmonica licks are a little hit or miss for me. "Visions of Johanna" is much better in my opinion and the album stays pretty consistent throughout the remaining hour or so. "One of Us Must Know (Sooner or Later)" is one of my favorite songs from any of the albums I've listened to so far. Honestly. I think some of the songs would be better without harmonica solos (for example "Temporary like Achilles"). That being said, there were some very good songs on this album, and I really should listen to more Bob Dylan. This album showcases a lot of his fantastic songwriting. Favorite Songs: One of Us Must Know (Sooner or Later), I Want You, Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again, Just Like a Woman, Fourth Time Around, Obviously Five Believers, Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands Least Favorite Song: Rainy Day Women #12 & 35 Decent 8/10

Love a bit of Dylan. The fact that this almost sounds like a greatest hits album for one of the most influential and important musicians of all time means it would feel a bit churlish to give it less than five stars. Still, I’m nothing if not a bit churlish so I’m giving 4 stars as some of the songs can drag on a bit. Great album though.

I don’t really have anything to say, very solid. Dylan doesn’t inspire a lot of passion in me but he does inspire respect

EVERYBODY MUST GET STONED

Bob's just being Bob and I'm all here for it

3.8 + Rollicking good fun. Some longer tracks here. "Stuck Outside of Mobile..." is excusable, even at 7:04. "Sad-Eyed Lady" at 11:19 takes some fortitude.

Masterful - will listen again.

Well, primero lo primero. Well, gran, gran disco. Well, usa mucho well pero nadie se queja. Songs: One of Us Must Know, Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat, 4th Time Around, Obviously Five Believers

Classic dylan.

You can tell Bob was just having fun with this one. Not my favourite but I got a lot more out of it this time round.

I prefer a folksier Bob Dylan, personally, but this is still good listening.

This album again is straight up lovely and my favourite Bob Dylan album to date

Bob is not one of those artists that I listen to very frequently but that I quite enjoy when I do.

Loved the lyrics, enjoyed the music style but folk never going to be something I truly appreciate I think

Classic Dylan

Not my favorite Dylan album, but I love "Stuck inside of Mobile" and "Just like a woman"

Made it through most of it. Didn't like it as much as Ramblin Bob Dylan

I might give it a 4 if he didn't have such an annoying voice and vocal delivery style. He al

Es muy folk-country. Chill. Me gustó bastante

Oh BOB. Already know this ain’t my favorite of one of my least favorite artists. But I still respect the Bob. To a degree. And I will try this again today. See how it sits. So: I respect the lyricism. I do. But. Musically this is, and continues to be, painful. It’s not just Bob’s voice or his, at times, affected delivery. It’s the heavy leaning on blues tropes that don’t feel authentic. It’s the harmonica and all the treble terror it conjures. It’s the pace that often makes me feel that I’m supposed to be stoned on something far stronger than marijuana. And songs that pick up the pace make me itchy more than groovy. So, I just can’t go higher than 3. 3 Boolean: true, ok?

Some catchy tracks but I'm not super into the style or vocals

The issue with this project is that if I only have one day for each album then I'm probably only going to listen to it once and that's usually while I'm working. It seems that the main attraction with Bob Dylan is the lyrics rather than the music and that's not something that you can easily pick out first time. The music was fine, nothing that blew me away, no riffs or arrangements that I thought were incredible and I couldn't really pick out any lyrics. I'm sure if I was more familiar with the album or any of the songs I might be rating it higher, but based on one day it's just ok

There are Bob Dylan songs I like, but I do not like Bob Dylan. My attitude toward Dylan has vacillated between skepticism and hostility for 40 years. This album's fame and daunting reputation to me are an intractable mystery. Just as hit or miss as other electric Dylan albums of the Sixties. It's not a famous song, and I've never listened to this album in full before, so I was not familiar with Obviously Five Believers, but for my money, that is the most successful song on this album. It is difficult to capture in words how much I dislike Rainy Day Women. #blahblahirritatingpretension. I thought it was dumb and annoying when I first heard it on WBCN Boston in the early 80s, and it hasn't improved any since.

The first song almost made me turn this album right off, but I stuck with it because I wanted to give it a fair chance. It’s definitely a slow, gradual album, but in the end only three songs really stood out to me. One of my biggest issues was that the harmonica felt way overused. His voice also came across as very nasal to my ears. I think I would’ve enjoyed it more if he sang a little less and let the instrumentation breathe on its own, because the music itself had some really cool moments. Overall, I genuinely tried to give the album a chance, but it just wasn’t for me.

Fui ler sobre o album e consigo perceber que foi importante na altura. Não desgostei, mas também não me prendeu

It’s iconic I get it but I’m just not all about bob dylan yet.

Bit too much Bob for one sitting

Love me some good ol Bob

some songs great, some rambly. probably needs a more focused listen to appreciate the lyrics.

jo, ja, det er fint - ikke blæst bagover

I really like the music on this record, even if it does feel a little bit like a "death by 1000 harmonicas" situation. I just wish this record didn't feature Bob Dylan himself. I know, I know, that's sort of a ridiculous take on what might be considered one of Bob Dylan's best records. But man, Bob Dylan really ruins Bob Dylan for me. He could be revealing the meaning of life itself, but I'd never know it because I find his voice so objectionable that I have to try to tune him out. It's not just that he mumble-sings everything in the same cadence with the same inflection over and over and over, it's also that it always sounds like he's trying to squeeze out an aggressively stubborn shit. Anyway, the music itself keeps this from being a 2-star review. 6/10

I don't get Dylan. I know he's praised by a lot of people that I respect. And I do appreciate his music on certain levels. But far from a level that I would call genius. I enjoyed listening to this album, but if I never hear it again, I won't feel like I've missed out. ★★★

my bestie won't let me rate this anything less than a 10/10

Bob Dylan is just so bob dylan

Not for me

Oh, I knew this day was coming. The day I would have to start facing Bob. 7 albums on the list. I have forced myself to listen to many of them over the years. Haven’t hit one on the list, yet. They crowd best of lists, many of them. I keep trying, and failing, to properly appreciate Bob. Perhaps today is the day and Blonde on Blonde is the album… My mom loved this album I just realized. Bob’s gonna stone me to death and bury me with a proper NOLA funeral march including tuba. God I hate the harmonica generally. At least Bob’s relentless, high end use of it just… doesn’t help. His delivery of couplets is so, so annoying and affected. Oh, he won the NOBEL PRIZE you say? Well… can I just read him? ‘Cause listening to him is… excruciating. Look, sorry. Bob is FULL OF SHIT. Well backed. But full of it. I have no issue with truthful creation of characters. It’s trying to pass bullshit off as authenticity that chaps my hide. Yeah and this is like 75 minutes long. I was going 4 out of… acknowledgment… but no. This really is bullshit. 🐂💩 3 for being Bob. Boolean: True, I guess

#3. It’s alright, just generally not a fan of his style of singing

Me gusta bob, tampoco tanto en este disco

Not my cup of tea but a classic album

Another legend that I'm listening to for the first time, and Holy Harmonica! While Dylan is undeniably a lyrical genius (and I found this to be the aspect I enjoyed the most), I can't help my "meh" reaction to older folk and singer-songwriter tunes. Great musicianship, but unfortunately another album I suspect I'd appreciate much more if I was born before the 2000's. A 3 star record, but a very high 3 for sure.

I preferred this to freewheelin' but it has similar issues

Not the sort of thing on my normal playlists. I didn't mind it. There is something there, but it won't get added to any playlist of the future either.

Not my favorite Bob Dylan album, but not a bad album.

Bob Dylan

Overall solid but didn’t enjoy it as much as his previous album 3

5 stars for the lyrics, 1 star for the voice and music

A great folk classic

Look I’ll start this by saying I’m not a Dylan guy, and I’m also not a lyrics guy. But I really did my best to get into this - it’s just not for me. I do think the band is really doing some solid work here, and I was surprised to find a handful of choruses that stuck with me more than I expected for Dylan’s usual style. That being said, I just find the harmonica assaulting, and the songwriting really subpar. I know that sounds like a shocking take, but if you subtract the lyrics (which I personally find pretentious, esoteric, and free-associative) the songs are really just general blues/folk/cowboy chords. I’ve seen the movie. I’ve read the tales. I’ve heard the music. And try as I might I just cannot find the value that everyone else seems to divine from this album.

I know I should be able to get past his vocal style and appreciate the music and lyrics, but I can't. I tried. But his voice is just aaaarrrgggghhhhhhhhh PS I find I actually can appreciate the lyrics, if I read them in silence. They're very good.

he really is a horrible singer isn't he? didn't mind the tunes but wish it was timmy chalamet instead

I’ve heard this before. I think this was his third electric album and it feels like he was running out of steam, there are good songs in here but they don’t hit as hard as the earlier electric stuff and sound really ordinary. This might just be a case of Ringo syndrome where it sounds complacent because it was influential and so many people copied the sound after it came out, but they don’t really move me. Honestly I do prefer his acoustic stuff over the electric so that’s part of it. The record sounds great, the backing band is great, he’s a terrible singer but he’s a great singer if that makes sense, so it should be a great album but I’m at a solid 3 on this for what I said above.

This is my second Bob Dylan album over the last couple of weeks. If you've followed along with my on this, you know that I really struggle with Dylan. And, of course, this one is a double album, clocking in at over an hour and 10 minutes. I liked some of the songs on this album more because they were a bit more fun and upbeat. You could definitely hear the influence of the session musicians brought in during the recording sessions in Nashville - it had more of a bluesy sound to it. But, there was a lot of harmonica and it was mixed to really dominate over the other music. And Dylan's voice on this one is exactly why I struggle with Dylan. It's just really hard for me to listen to. There was only one song on this album that I knew. Because I'm just not familiar with his catalog, I don't feel qualified to say where this ranks amongst his albums. As usual, it's fine and I appreciate who he is and his talent, but I won't listen again.

this was decent but no better than any other bob dylan

This would be an enjoyable listen in a specific mood. Tentatively, though, I don't think I am in said mood.

Okay, but not my favorite Dylan-period

Someone take his harmonica. 3/5

God he goes on ! Too long

About the List: To me, the whole point is to expand one's musical worldview. It NEEDS a two-albums-per-artist limit. Sorry, Dylan fans, but it's true. Heard Before? Yes, but I wasn't paying close attention. Notes: - as with most Dylan albums, the mix is atrocious. thin, trebly, too many instruments given too little space in the back of the mix, while the harmonica cuts swathes of destruction in front. - but of course this is a lyrics album. song structure gets subsumed beneath the desire to get all the words in. for poetry, there's very little compression of thought. - even with these severe limitations, there is brilliance here that rewards close listening. although i personally find it difficult or even exhausting to pay close attention when the instrumentals are so secondary. - "I Want You" is a pop gem which left me very much wanting more of the same. Verdict: A goldmine for people who care about what Dylan has to say and don't mind nodding along to the ho-hum ebb-and-flow tunes for an hour. Listen Again? Meh. I'm really happy to hear all these Dylan songs once, but I prefer music with more going on musically.

Okayy ni slabo

mittelgut find ich. die Mundharmonika wird relativ schnell zu viel.

Still unlikely to ever be a fan of his voice, but I enjoyed the more bluesy swing to a lot of this.

So I had Highway 61 Revisited about a month or so back, and I absolutely loved that record. One of the things I loved about H61 was how it seemed like Dylan pulled all these genres and pieces of music and glued them together with his charm and songwriting. Now I was ecstatic to see this record, but after listening it this just feels not like a melding of different sounds but just Bob Dylan as a genre for over an hour; which I guess proves you can have too much of a good thing. I certainly was not annoyed by any of it including the voice and the harmonica which many seem to complain about, but it does become a bit overbearing over the course of a double LP. This album also didn't really have any stand out tracks either compared to H61, at least to me personally.

Didn't know this in many ways was considered Bob Dylan's Magnum Opus, but sheesh you're gonna be sitting for a while. Sure there were some good songs sprinkled throughout, but if it doesn't grab it it is dragging you through some Bob Dylan sludge for over an hour. Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands is almost like a parody Bob Dylan song but probably a prime example as to why he has the joke impression that he does. It's fine, and the musicians on it are fabulous, just a lot to listen to

I dont like the harmonic on the first two tracks. General rule of thumb is dont hsve a harmonica solo. It was kind of mid. Sorry to all the bob Dylan heads out there 😭✌️

Not his best work...

I did a project on this album. I am gonna give it a 3. gonna take a nap during this its sooooo slow. ughhhhh

Its bob dylan and he sounds about how you would expect. this album does has some good tracks on it but overall not really my thing.

Nice album

Que puta pesada con la armónica. Está bjeno Qcyo

High quality harmonica

Enjoyable stuff and classic Bob Dylan, but a bit too long

I like this but as usual the shrillness of the harmonica brings it down for me. Like would it kill them to mix it a little lower !! And also I just don't feel like it's his best. It's doing a lot but not much at the same time

this is too much for me

My Rating 3.3

It’s been great to hear quite a few albums by Bob Dylan during this project as I’ve finally gotten around to liking his music but being confronted with this double album might be a bit much to take in for now. Definitely some classics on here but a lot of these songs are going to need a few spins for me to fully understand. One thing I’m beginning to understand is what a fantastic harmonica player he is! Some of these phrases take a long breath to play not just on the inhale but also on the exhale so controlling that would take aome talent and the notes are quite well in tune. Anyways I’m still enjoying his music but starting to question how many more albums we really need by him on this list.

Nice at times, other times really grating.

Ni fu ni fa, Bob

Only the Boomers could make this guy the voice of a generation. Somehow only my second Dylan album and I’m almost through a third of the list. This one was better than The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan, which I forced onto the fence with a 2.5/5; it’s more polished and a couple of the songs are actually good. Still hate his voice though! A more accurate title for this album would be Assault by Harmonica, Suites 1-14. This will garner a 3/5, and I doubt any Dylan album will score higher than that for me

Oddly enough, the only way I felt like this album was the feeling of when you’re winding down at home. It was mellow and calming, it was enjoyable to listen to!

Very nice album, "I Want You" and "Most Likely You Go Your Way" were pretty good.

This was just fine. I really liked Just Like a Woman and there were a few other great lines in there. Idk, it just didn't grab me as much as some of his other stuff. Felt less cohesive in a way.

BD of Minnesota. Active in music since the 50s. Blonde on Blonde the 7th album by Dylan, released when he was 25. Lots of instrumentation with forward movement, that I like. Pleasant throughout and impronted on culture. But not moving for me

- Boycotting this misogynist Zio domestic abuser. - I'd never listened to this album before, and I enjoyed a lot of the songs. (This version of "Visions of Johanna" is so much better than on the live album on this list.) - Some of the songs are better than others - I liked the first half a lot better than the second half. - "4th Time Around" seems like Dylan's answer to Norwegian Wood... - A lot of the melodies are enjoyable, and I really liked the keys throughout. And, especially on "One of Us Must Know (Sooner or Later)". - The lyrics are always well written and feel bittersweet. There's also a lot of casual misogyny. - Each song kind of feels like it goes on too long... and the album, as well.

It was good and all like a fine thing to listen too, but genuinely all of his songs sound the same and you cant convince me that his voice isn't so painful sometimes

Definitely not my favourite Dylan album.

ta bom aprobado 3/5

I don't really like Bob Dylan's voice here, but the songs are silly enough to make up for that. They're probably deeper than I recognize right now, but eh. Not a bad album

This was fine. I lump Dylan in with the Stones as a guy who has some priceless gems mixed in with a lot of stuff about which I care not a whit.

Still don't like ol Bobby

I cannot stand bob Dylan’s voice

It was okay, not really my thing tbh. I did enjoy reading along to the lyrics.

Enjoyed this, but not as much as I’ve enjoyed other Bob Dylan previously. Some of the wailing was a bit of a tough listen. Might just be tired listening to this on a Sunday night but the country tinge is not to my taste really.

If this is a masterpiece, then I think I should give up doing the generator now. All the reviews bleating on about what a wonderful lyricist the Bob is, I just don't really see it based on this collection. Sure, he can write a nice story that brings you inside a narrative, but bloody hell, the delivery is criminally bad at times - the music is mostly borderline boring, and listening to Bob's nasal whine get really grating after about 3 songs, and then you've got 10 or more to go..... Having said that, I can appreciate 'Just Like A Woman', and 'Stuck inside of Mobile.....' was worth a listen. I'm surprised so many people rate 'Rainy Day Women #12 and #35' as such a masterpiece, it sounds like something they chucked out at rehearsal, and the lyrics are bollocks. 'Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands' is a good way to finish the album, although it probably goes on for too long to be honest. I dunno, it's not a masterpiece in my book, but I can see why it is seen as important in the grand scheme of rock 'n' roll history, it's just not something I can see myself listening to again any time soon. Thanks, Bob, but no thanks.

Bob is niet mn favoriet maar het album luistert prima weg

Za długie

harmonica ensemble

Going to go lower than most on this one too. This is all the worst parts of Bob Dylan imo. I don't like the frumpiness of Circus Music Dylan or the intestinal heaves of his voice going UPPP and doooooown. I'll take 'Freewheelin' Dylan' any day of the week over 'Blonde on Blonde.'

You go Your Way (I'll Go Mine) is very tough.

Bobby d

The music itself isn't bad but the way Dylan sings annoys me. It's like hes adjusting his volume based on a sine wave, and every sentence trails off into the void.

Apparently a storyteller but I didn't hear it

I do not like his voice or "singing style". Perhaps he should have been a poet rather than a singer.

I wish I liked Bob Dylan but I just don't think I do, I like his version of knockin on heaven's door but so far I haven't found another song I like that he sang, he just sings/says things in an odd, extended way and I don't really like it, but his music isn't bad? I thought Bob Dylan was some kind of beautifully poetic singer but it doesn't really sound like that?

Best Track - "I Want You"

Too many harmonicas AGAIN! Stand-outs - One of Us Must Know (Sooner or Later) - Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again

One of my favorite Dylan album, a bit long-winded.

May have been born a little late. I appreciate the cultural significance and really like the hits, but the whole album uninterrupted is a lot 3.7

Its fine

Definitely sounds like a Bob Dylan album.

Some cracking tracks but I’m still buttsore about his crappy concert I went to decades ago. Also his voice is fine for a song or two but grates after a whole album

Mid Dylan

I wish I liked Bob more, but I just don't.

3.6. well its definitely bob dylan!

He sings like it hurts but the instrumentals sound great

My third Dylan record on this project and by far the best. Still not really my thing though.

The second album by Bob Dylan on this project and a similar result. You have to enjoy Dylan’s intonation or else it will become extremely tiresome but I believe it brings character to his songs. Dylan is amazingly talented musically and shows that with his guitar and harmonica abilities on multiple tracks. Rainy Day Women # 12 & 35 is the highlight of the album. I prefer the last album a bit over this one, Bringing It All Back Home, but this was solid as well.

Bob Dylan is a brilliant songwriter and musician, no question about that. I'm a fan of his songs and even his voice, but this one just went on too long. This was my first true end to end listen of Blond on Blond, Rainy Day Woman is absolutely the highlight of the album, great song that stands out in any crowd. The uptempo songs had a bit of a Rockabilly feel I'm not sure I ever picked up on before. A very welcome change of pace from just straight up harmonica....there is ALOT of harmonica on this one. This is Dylan, so to say it was enjoyable is an understatement. But, to say it's great is an overstatement. I'm in the middle.

Typical Bob Dylan.

Not for me, but very folksy

Asså skit tills just like a woman där var peaken sen gick den ner igen

En del goa låtar

like fine i guess

I still remember the last Dylan album two days ago 😲. How long before I hear that instrument again? Oh, the first song 😳... Definitely a more diverse folk-rock album than "Blood on the Tracks". But being a music-first person, Bob's poetic storytelling is still lost on me. I'm used to hearing pop melodies and hooks, so he's really opening my mind to experiencing music in a different way. Thanks Bob, seriously.

60’s Rock ⭐️One Of Us Must Know (Sooner or Later)

i loved the sound, it's very 60s american diner. great lyrics too. yet it is all overshadowed by the fact that his singing would silence the nails going down the chalkboard and the dying cats

Apparently bob dylan also not my thing lmao his harmonica is killing me

Still don't like him.

Great album, not my personal favorite Dylan, but still great. There are a handful of songs on here that I like to hear on a compilation, but has more skips for me than most of his albums. The song about a pill box hat has always kind of grinded on me. It used to be on a playlist at work when I worked in a coffee shop. We played that dang thing every day. Coworker got fired for playing the Ramones at top volume all night one time, I respected it (I think it was "The KKK Took My Baby Away" that got him reported by a customer. I will be knocking this down from 5 to 3 stars because of this memory, and because of my general distaste for a double album. I do love "Stuck Inside of Memphis..." and "Visions of Johanna".

The musicality was great, the storytelling gets a thumbs up. I can appreciate Bob Dylan and all he has done for music. It is just not for me.

Great music. Shitty singer.

I like the surprise element of doing this and often find myself looking forward to each day's album, so I've never looked at the complete list as I don't want to spoil the fun. However, I'm beginning to think all of Bob Dylan's 40-odd studio albums might well make an appearance at various stages. I really hope not as there are some real duds. That said, this is an acceptable one - the playful opener, the well known ones like I Want You and Just Like a Woman, and Dylan doing his best Dylan impression all make for a perfectly enjoyable Dylan experience. But you can have too much of a good thing.

very bluesy

This was alright. I liked it quite a bit better than the other Bob Dylan album I listened to so far(Blood on the Tracks). Catchy bluesy tunes. Still not huge on Dylan, but glad to have given it a listen. (3)

Dylan is pretty cool. What's great on this album is the Nashville players he has behind him. I get it, when this album came out (and when Dylan came out) no one was doing what he was doing lyrically. I'm not about to delve into his lyrics and figure out what the fuck he was talking about, I don't have all day to do that. But even Dylan admitted that he just put words together sometimes and there always wasn't some big meaning in every song...look at him that way, he becomes something like musical version of an expressionist painter. This was a good listen and I get why people adore this music, I just doubt I'd ever seek this out again on my own.

Oh right off the bat I am happy. This reminds me of a cottage night. But also fuck these songs are long. And can I be honest? Having trouble discerning the difference between songs. Is this because I am not generally a fan of this genre? Or do they actually all sound the same?

despicable amount of harmonica

An hour plus is too long for Bobby D. At least this is better than old, sad Bob on Time Out Of Mind

Pretty standard Bob Dylan album

I'm not really a big fan of Bob Dylan but this album pleasantly surprised me with how shockingly decent it was. Granted, i did just listen to Pere Ubu yesterday and anything i listen to today will be a masterpiece compared to that but i'm still surprised with how much i enjoyed this album more than either of the previous two albums i've heard by him. The folk rock style that this album goes for isn't anything too special but with time, it did become pretty nice to listen to, albeit i could have done without the harmonicas assaulting my ears every few seconds. It still does have the positives the last two Bob Dylan had with the negatives toned down a fair bit. Best Song: Obviously Five Believers Worst Song: Temporary Like Achilles

Would give 3.5 if I could.

My first full introduction to Bob Dylan and there's some awesome poetry and writing but I just can't jive with his enunciations and songwriting. This album just made me want more Nick Drake. I did appreciate how detailed the Wikipedia was for this album. Favorite Song: Fourth Time Around.

Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands, занимающая целую сторону винила. Нэшвилльские сессионщики потом признавались: они не понимали, что играют, пока не услышали готовую запись. Зато когда услышали — всё стало на своё место.

I don't mind Bob Dylan, but one can only take too much harmonica to the eardrums before it's too much. Also, the lyrics to "Just Like a Woman" do not land the way I believe Dylan intended. I mean, she is just like a woman for everything but cries like a girl? Give me a break. 3/5 stars for harmonica overload and dated lyrics.

I now know the maximum tolerable amount of Bob Dylan for me is slightly less than the entirety of this album.
