Reviews (page 3 of 13)

Liked most, already liked Sara and Sisters of the Moon, recognised Tusk, liked Beautiful Child. Some songs didn’t flow well together in the album. Between 4 and 5.

Amazing, love it, always going to love it

I’ve always loved this album, that’s all for everyone is probably one of my favorite songs of theirs.

beautiful looking forward to rumors more now. Every song felt like a dream and its own world just to fall through into

I know this is an unpopular opinion but I absolutely love this record The other folks in my listening group didn't love it as much and noted they esp didn't like "Not That Funny" When I finally made it through to Not That Funny, even with their criticisms in my head I still love it - I love the way Lindsay is just SMASHING the guitar strings and you can hear them banging around all over the place, I love the pre-chorus, I love the melodic instrumental chorus part, I love the crazy noisey ‘breakdown’/fall-apart section at the end… love this tune, though I will admit the weird vocal delivery of the “…not that funny is it?” line is a bit ridiculous I was dreading the day this one came up - this is actually my favourite FM record. The tremendous accomplishment of Rumours is impossible to ignore, and it is “better” in almost every way, but this one feels more experimental and raw to me. I feel a lot when I put this in haha. I know though that this is a VERY minority opinion and I will try not to take offence when you guys shit all over it haha I understand its many faults. Christine Mcvie’s writing is top tier on this one though. Honey Hi as a great example I think what a lot of people hate about this record is that Lindsay Buckingham was kind of off the deep end and his songs are just weird. Everyone was expecting another The Chain but they got The Ledge haha which I personally love but is way off track from where he was on rumours. Stevie has some great tracks here also - Sisters Of The Moon is one of her best ever. I actually kind of took it hard when Christine McVie died recently. I went on a huge binge and hardly listened to anything else for a while. When I first got into FM I thought Stevie Nicks was the greatest thing in the world, and then I was in love with Lindsay’s incredible guitar work and strange but brilliant songwriting. But eventually I came around to realize actually all my favourite FM tracks were Christine’s. Her songwriting is so incredible and her songs smack me in the face every time I hear them. As celebrated as she is I think she is vastly underrated in the pop music pantheon I forgot this was the record that has Think About Me -> I’ve worked up an acoustic version of this one. For reals I FUCKING LOVE this song. I know the bass line is bordering on disco but they pull it off. The pairing of Lindsay and Christine is a theme in Rumours/Tusk/Mirage era and they tried to duplicate it with a pair-up record post-FM-breakup but it didn’t work out as well - prob they were just too old

There are some fantastic songs on here, especially the ones where Christine McVie leads. The title song is excellent. Not as consistently hit-filled as Rumors, but still a five star album

oh my god, this album was awesome. it was so gentle and nostalgic, it felt like relaxing in nature by the campfire during a warm, humid evening - reminds me of west virginia, but nice. fireflies out. and stevie nicks' voice is seriously heavenly...

Hadn’t listened to this Fleetwood Mac album before

Fleetwood Mac's White Album. People get it wrong when they refer to Rumours as a break-up album. Rumours is a BREAKING up album. Tusk is the true break-up album. While Rumours infamously details couples within the band breaking apart, Tusk showcases the aftermath. If you're Lindsey Buckingham, you drive yourself to the point of giving yourself a haircut with freaking nail scissors. Christine McVie chose to rebound with Beach Boys drummer Dennis Wilson, while Stevie Nicks sought comfort in the arms of Eagles drummer & lead singer Don Henley. Mick Fleetwood apparently played most of his drums on a box of Kleenex. Poor John McVie thought the album sounded like it was done by three solo artists. He's not wrong. Most of Lindsey's songs sound like he's the only one in the room, which apparently is true. The one thing everyone could agree on is that there could never be too much cocaine, enough that compels one of the band's founding members to use a Kleenex box for drums. Stevie writes a song about an aborted child fathered by Henley, and it becomes one of the most majestic and beautiful songs she's ever written. There's actually a version of this album called the Alternate Tusk with different takes of every song that I actually prefer to the original version (especially the aforementioned Stevie, which actually sounds better longer, the version where she starts out by saying, "I want to be a STAR! I don't want to be a cleaning lady"). If you really want to get inside Lindsey's head, there are something like ten different versions of the title track on the Deluxe version of this album, which also includes all of those alternate versions available on the Alternate Tusk. I'm glad this is the direction Lindsey pushed the band to go in after Rumours made them the second biggest band in the world behind Henley's Eagles. They were never going to duplicate the success or sound of Rumours anyway. After all, the couples had already broken up. The only thing left to do was put the actual break-up down on vinyl. Personally, I barely remember my life before this album. I was nine-years old when it was released, and I'd spend countless hours listening to it (usually sides 3 and 4). So in many ways, I prefer this to Rumours. For whatever reason, the was always magic in the chemistry of the five members in the "classic" lineup of Fleetwood Mac. It didn't matter if they were breaking up or broken up.

Never listened to Fleetwood Mac but I am pleasantly surprised. Really have no complaints about this album, it beautiful folky sound is right up my alley and the songs are perfectly concise for a double album, not to mention the gorgeous vocals. The only thing I would wish for is some more songs that experiment a little like the title track, but nevertheless a delightful listen.

This album was so unexpected for me in a good way! I don’t recognize any of their songs on this album even though Fleetwood Mac dominated the radios for so long, and I really like that. Such range on this album. Definitely will be listening to this multiple times.

Beautiful album

This was a good album, but for better or worse this came up only 3 days after Rumours came up on my list. Tusk is nearly twice as long, but not as good in my opinion. There were some very good tracks in here, but a few tracks that seemed a little filler-ish and just got tuned out. However the good tracks were dotted throughout the album, so they ended up drawing my attention back to it. Definitely a very good record, but Rumours still takes the cake, and I'm eager to see how the other albums shape up in comparison, cause I'm sure there are still a few more Fleetwood Mac albums yet to come before my list is done. Favourite: Sisters of the Moon

over and over is a jam

There are just enough good songs on here for a solid EP, but this album is an overlong mess, and it commits the cardinal sin of art by being boring.

One of my favourite Fleetwood Mac albums Saved tracks: Sara, Storms, Sisters of the Moon, Beautiful Child, Tusk

Love it! The Ledge and Tusk are bangers and I enjoyed the entire sound of the whole album.

Pretty good. Most of the album is acoustic songs which I usually don’t love but I liked these songs. The main title track is completely different and I really like it.Very solid album that I didn’t find tiring even if it is really long.

10/10 fuck, I need to hear Rumors but this album was so beautiful and endlessly creative nothing’s better

Lots going on here, much of it great. Contains my favorite FM song "Sara" and many weird and wonderful others. Works hard for that 5*

very hit and miss but .... Sara is one of the best songs ever!

you just cant go wrong with fleetwood mac!! 5/5

I've often heard that this was Fleetwood Mac's Holy Grail. After the release of "Fleetwood Mac" and "Rumours" both wildly successful albums, Fleetwood Mac wanted to prove to the world that they weren't just another Top 40 pop band. America was going punk and they didn't want to get lost in the shift. So, they do what anyone would do...they spend 5 Million dollars recording an album that they thought would change the world. Only to sell fewer copies than any of their previous work. Now don't get me wrong, the album is beautiful, it's perfect, it's everything I didn't know I needed, and is now regarded as one of the most important albums of all time. I guess in 1979 it just wasn't on the same wavelength as the rest of the world. Just like with the Beastie Boys "Paul’s Boutique", our hindsight is always 20/20.

Nothing was going to live up to Rumours. And I think that a double-album is just begging to be seen as mediocre. It lacks the tension and angst of Rumours, but is still a damn good album. The Ledge is a fun stomp. Tusk is a great drum beat. Sara is a home run. This is an album by a band that had grown quite a bit from the coke-fueled middle school drama of previous albums.

amazing

Never heard any of this before. Very 70’s but also kind of modern sounding. Sounds like they had alot of fun experimenting and getting weird with this album. Tusk- Over and over, great production and great feeling groove. The ledge- wacky Save me a place/ has cool harmonies Sara- a stevie nicks song! Spacey and poppy. Kind of long but I don’t mind at all .it pop What makes you think I’m the one- unique drum parts( so much snare) Storms- some weird stuff with the guitar/ bass sounds like finger tapping That’s all for everyone- love this spacey sound Not that funny- new wavey sounding at first. Like thewacky fuzzy guitar stuff at end Sisters of the moon- cool tune That’s enough for me- Brown eyes- big drum sound Never make me cry- love the vocal sound and the big low notes I know I’m not wrong- I like the synth hook.

Truly a masterpiece. the production and arrangements are so great on this record. Lindsey buckingham is kind of a maniac but his songs have some cool percussion and weirdness. I definitely like the nix/mcvie songs better, they’re so vibey and beautiful.

Considering Rumors basically perfected the archetypal 70s pop rock sound, that was replicated so many times, it is difficult to still see it more as a fully original piece than an immediate greatest hits. This is where I was hoping tusk would remain a fully original album in its own right. I was proved correct, but not in the was I expected. What surprised me about tusk is how much the album is focused on contrast. Christine and Stevie's surprisingly downbeat folk ballads are given opulent, pristine production, yet Lindsay's rockers are almost exclusively abrasive homages to the roots of rock and roll, designed to sound directly translated from mind to tape as quickly as possible. Overall I would say the intentionally haphazard production and sequencing works to give the album a here-and-there personality and a distinctive, constantly appealing charm. Ultimately, there are a surprising lack of unnecessary tracks on this thing for an album of this length, and absolute stunners throughout. Better than Rumours? Quite possibly. An essential record.

Rust zacht Christine McVie ❤️😭 Eindelijk Fleetwood Mac!!! Ik kende dit album nog niet zo goed van ze, maar vond het erg nice!

How does anyone follow up Rumors? I think most people would break under the pressure, fortunately Fleetwood Mac were already a pretty broken and fractured unit. And it really shows in their work, more through the music here than on Rumors, where the tension was all about the lyrics. Tusk is a sprawling record that makes huge tonal shifts as it jumps between songwriters. Personally I feel like some of Buckingham's songwriting strays a little to far into Mccartneyesque novelty on songs like "The Ledge" and "What Makes You Think You're the One", which I don't think suits the band all that much. It does give an interesting counterpoint though to some of the less over the top songs by Nicks and McVie. Stevie Nicks is on frighteningly good songwriting form on this record and her songs really stand out as some of the highlights to me, she makes side two very much all about her with "Storms" and "Sisters of the Moon" and Side 4's "Beautiful Child" has got to be one of the best things Fleetwood Mac ever recorded. Christine McVie's incredibly grounded and honest songs make side 3 all about her, much like Nicks did on side 2. "Brown Eyes" into "You'll never make me cry" is such a powerful combo, and then being lifted back up by Buckingham into "I know I'm not wrong" is an absolutely phenomenal musical moment. John McVie and Mick Fleetwood, the eponymous Fleetwood Mac are also spectacular, the bass work is so interesting throughout, and never stops or dips in quality. And works so well with Mick's drums in a way that can only come from many many years of being a rhythm section. I was going to give this a four but over the course of writing the review I think I have convinced myself to go to a 5. I'm also compelled to revisit some of my favorite bits. So a 5 it is, I still don't think its quite on the same quality as the much tighter "Rumors" but an amazing piece of work. It also gave me an opportunity to play one of my favourite games, "Which member of Fleetwood Mac wrote this song". Its not a particularly hard game, but entertaining none the less.

This was the first Fleetwood Mac album I ever had, circa 1981. Turns out the album I wanted was Rumours, but this is the one I got. While it could still be argued that "Tusk" is my favorite Fleetwood Mac song ever, and I listened to the song itself quite a lot, the rest of the album didn't get so much play. And decades passed. Turns out, I just needed to listen to it as an older person. I realized I was listening to really great songs. I really enjoyed this.

As much as I loved rumors, I was never compelled to invest in Tusk. So, this is mostly new to me. I wasn’t immediately sold on it, but I am coming around. I’m kind of torn, as I don’t know that I love it…certainly some tracks I could do without. I’ll bump up because I find Christie and Stevie so captivating.

I really love Tusk. We had it in our household when it came out since we had been a big Rumours household. I don’t think it was ever quite as popular on our turntable as Rumours, but it had several really memorable parts that have followed me. The title track is weird and wonderful, and I love Christine McVie and Stevie Nicks’ contributions. Sara is one of my favorite Stevie Nicks songs and it is just wonderful to bask in the full 6:31 album version. I love that Fleetwood Mac gave us the perfect jewel that is Rumours then followed up with something so experimental and wonderful. An incredible one-two punch from an incredible band!

An incredible turning point in the long and storied career of Fleetwood Mac. Just like Bob Welch had done years before, Lindsey Buckingham took over and made the band in his own image, if just for a while.

Another FM masterpiece

This is a great album, deftly balancing differing styles of pop music, from Country - rock to contemporary pop to americana to indie-style rock to straight-up rock all with a deftness, subtlty and skill that would make you wonder if they are one of the best bands at each of the above genres. It doesn't have as many straight ahead rockers or classic songs as its predecesser; Rumours but it is full of really great lesser known tunes. In fact this is the rare double album with almost no filler. After spending the time to get to know it I feel like its among the great double albums of all time, up there with London Calling, Exile on Maine Street and The Beatles. Bravo! 5 stars

Bare klasse, melodier holder stadig, stemningsfyldt, vanvittig vokal og lyrik

Love anything by Fleetwood Mac.

most people think that “rumours” is fleetwood mac’s best album, i think it’s tusk. this album is so wonderful in every way. it was ahead of its time.

"Storms" have made me cry so many times it's not even funny anymore. 5

Utterly fabulous. Stevie Nicks in particular is epic on this album. Buckingham's stuff at its best with the slow grooves - Walk A Thin Line - rather than the jittery stuff that peppers the rest of the album, although that does break stuff up and successfully keeps me engaged. Exception that proves the rule however is Tusk itself which is wonderful.

No shit! I wondered if this would be the album of the day as I was getting dressed this morning. On the short list for my all-time favorite album period. It's not perfect, but it's a five. Twice. When I bought this on vinyl back in 1979, I felt almost a mystical connection to this album. Listening to it now is taking me back. Great headphone listen. At the time of its release (as a 12 year old) I was not thinking about what a wild departure this was from Rumours, the album that preceded it, the biggest-selling record in its day. But in retrospect, that album's success had monumental influence on what Fleetwood Mac would do next. I LOVE that the band, and most specifically Linsdsey Buckingham, went full-on White Album and produced the strangest follow-up possible. Double album, sprawling in scope, sonically a massive departure... it's the album where (IMO) Buckingham found himself as a producer. And to have the exceptional combination of talent to work with gives this album such beautiful depth. All of Christine McVie's songs on this album are fantastic. I love the opener, "Over And Over," and the swell of ghostly harmonies totally lets you know early on that we're not in Rumoursville any more. "Think About Me," "Honey Hi," "Never Forget," and "Brown Eyes" are gems, and even at her sappiest ("Never Make Me Cry") there's an honesty that just works. Buckingham, beyond the freaking magnificent production and arrangements throughout, pens some of the oddest pop songs on this album, and I love them all. "I Know I'm Not Wrong" is just magic, and "Walk A Thin Line" is equally excellent and odd. The fact that "Tusk" is the most enduring song on the album tells you something. Any other pop tunes feature jungle rhythms and a marching band? Not many. "Sara" may be Stevie's finest tune — hard to say, she's got a lot of great tunes — but what a mood she sets (again, Buckingham and the band have lots to do with that). But this is where my "not a perfect album" comment comes in. "Sara" apparently had 14 verses and a running time of 14 minutes when first written. Every one of Stevie's songs on this album tends toward excess in regard to sheer length. Each song on its own is pretty excellent, but an album (or two) full of Stevie in long-form gets a little tired. Still, "Storms" and "Beautiful Child" are both marvelous and sad and are reasons I was among the millions who fell in love with Stevie. Like, seriously. Mick Fleetwood is an underappreciated drummer. He always serves the song, and has an uncanny knack for accenting beats other drummers wouldn't think of. On this album, it sounds like he recorded more tracks in a closet with a snare drum and a turkey leg than behind a full kit. And so be it. That's the aesthetic of this oddball record. And John McVie is another unsung hero — player of myriad memorable bass lines — "Brown Eyes" is a great example of his ability to sneak a sweet bass line into a rhythm track and make a song better. I could go on, but you get it. I bought the 1001 Albums book soon after we began this adventure, and this was the first album I checked in on to see if it was included. So happy it was. I hope you all enjoyed it.

I'm well familiar with this album as it was my boyfriend's favorite and I always think of driving around in his green Talon in the late 90s/early 00s as he stuck this in the CD player. Of course Rumors was seared in my mind and I knew a few Tusk songs but was far from familiar with the album back then. I LOVE that the first song is a Christine McVie. This album really shows off the beauty of Fleetwood Mac and I mean that from a musical and equitable social view. How many bands from this era shared the spotlight equally among the women and men members? I love that they waited till track 5 to hear Stevie's magic 'cause when she kicks in it hits hard. Odd to me that this album was not well received. I guess after Rumors anything they put out would suffer a poor reception. Combined with the stories around the cost of this album, I can understand. However, I hope time has done its job and pushed this one up into one of the greats. It is on this list so I guess time is working! I wish someone could explain the album cover to me. I did a search and read that Tusk is a euphemism for penis. That pissed off Stevie and she threatened to leave but Mick was adamant. ok...whatevs but what the heck is the dog all about? If you google original album art for Tusk it looked much cooler than this.

The album opens slow and beautiful with over and over, a very good track but not a song that I would open an album with ( kinda disappointing seeing that rumours is like the best sequenced album of all time) still a great track though! The ledge is a very energetic with amazing bass work but without the vocals I wouldn’t know it was a fleetwood Mac song it’s so different to anything I’ve herd from them. Think about me just screams fleetwood mac single to me it has the groove of you make loving fun or Rhiannon but the pop rockiness of go your own way yeah this one’s great. Save me a place kinda feels like fleetwood filler but it’s still rather nice sounding and I really like the drumming. Sara is an amazing closer to side one, it’s very obviously Stevie Nicks track right from the first second which is great ; one of the best so far in an album i’am really liking! What makes me think you’re the one is a great track but I think the drums are slightly too high in the mix if I were to be really nit picky but it’s really hard to complain about this album. Storms (like sara) is an amazing (very Stevie Nicks) track it’s absolutely amazing! That’s all for everyone is this amazingly droany sounding piece of pop music I especially love Buckingham’s vocals on this one. I don’t hate not that funny (it’s a good single) but I think in comparison to the other tracks this is just a bit dumb. Sisters of the moon is absolutely perfect dark yet beautiful (this is really Stevie Nicks album so far)! Angel is good, a brilliant start to side two especially love the guitar work. That’s enough for me is a rocky folk track it’s really short though so it honestly didn’t leave a big impression on me. Brown eyes is cool I really like the simple drum and bass blend with some guitars (played by original member peter green) quietly featuring in the background. Never make you cry (like brown eyes) is another Christine McVie track this one is also quite simple but effective being a rather short track with a simple slow pulsating guitar flowing all of the way through. Side 3 ends on I know i’am not wrong a super upbeat track that i’am very surprised wasn’t released as a single it’s brilliant (especially for its guitar work). The instrumentation on honey hi is so sublime (I know it always is but this in particular is spectacular). Beautiful child is beautiful Stevie Nicks final blow on the album and well all her songs have been so masterful on this album! The vocal harmonies on walk the thin line are stellar it’s an amazing late album banger. Tusk is the only song I’ve herd before and that’s only because my grandad kept on moaning about how it’s all drum no substance… well I disagree by a country mile but I think it sounds more like an album opener than a penultimate track in a double album (but that’s just silly sequencing preferences). Never forget ( on an instrumental level) made me think of a happy version of gold dust woman, both of which are 10/10 closers. It’s a really, really good album all the way through no song is bad, which I was very surprised by, but I still have a white album like temptation to try shorten the tracklist that’s not a bad thing for me though I just like fiddling with albums. 5/5 was blown away it’s almost as good as Rumours and especially an essential if you’re really into fleetwood mac!

Adorabile.

Good I liked them before and this album slaps

Rumours is one of my top 3 records of all time, and while Tusk doesnt come nearly as close to the top, I still absolutely adore it. So many wild choices were made with Tusk to set itself apart from Rumours' shadow, and while it misses the mark pretty often it is still brimming with creativity and a strong double album of 8/10's is still so respectable I consider Rumours to be the front end store, the smaller curated selection of the best songs, and Tusk is like the warehouse behind it. Once you get hooked on Rumours and want to explore the sound further, you can wonder into this double album and look through all of their different ideas that wouldnt see the light of day in the same way that The Chain or You Can Go Your Own Way did. It's more work, less immediately rewarding, but Think About Me, Sara, Walk a Thin Line, and so many other tracks slowly unfold for the patient listener and have their own treasures to reveal. 5 stars, fleetwood mac continue to deserve their place in history

Awesome sauce

SLAYYYY thank you stevie and christine.

Excellent start to finish!!!

Storms <3 . Never Forget muito boa também.

Im sure when it came out, this album was received awfully because of its sense of chaos. But listening to it in 2022, it sounds like a Fleetwood Mac tribute playlist on shuffle. I loved everything about it.

My favorite album by my favorite band

This album is slightly more experimental than its predecessor, but it is equally accessible and just as good. Like any other great Fleetwood Mac album (FM, Rumours, this one, Mirage, Tango in the Night, all 5 stars) each of the songs is immediately recognizable as a CMcV/LB/SN song... ..yet you get the feeling that although these songs would still be good, they would be quite a bit less good if they had appeared on any of their solo albums.

I don't think I've really ever been "disappointed" by a Fleetwood Mac album yet. This album wasn't as familiar to me as Rumours, but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. Still very much a pop record, but with some pretty creative decisions being made. All welcome to my ears. I can see this becoming one of my favorites.

Tusk is the result of obsessive behavior in the studio, a deep desire not to make Rumours 2, having access to the Beach Boy’s aborted Smile sessions, and a healthy interest in new wave/post-punk. Largely driven by Lindsay Buckingham, this sprawling album really does cover it all. Some songs have a more new wave like frenetic pop energy, while others are more thoughtful meandering songs that make up some of the best of Fleetwood Mac’s catalogue. This album has some undeniably gorgeous moments but I do think it suffers some from the grandiosity of Buckingham’s vision and need for control. Overall, I think I still have to give it a full five stars because while it’s not perfect, it is still a deeply textured and beautiful album.

My new favorite Fleetwood Mac album. Can’t believe I’ve never heard this.

chicks rock. I knew right away this was a 5-star album: this record starts great and doesn’t cease until the end of the last song. Lucious, diverse, joyful, passionate; it’s like if the Beach Boys made Pet Sounds in 1979.

Amazing

Different and slower, but an amazing follow-up to "Rumours."

I think this album sometimes gets hidden behind Rumours, but it's really fantastic and triumphant. One of the best listening experiences I've had in a while.

Four stars and a half. An all-time classic, and an album which still holds its own many years after it was released. Of course, it's a double album, so it's sprawling and lacking cohesion somehow. But the association of Lindsey Buckingham's sonic experimentations with Stevie Nicks or Christine McVie's pop stunners is an irresistible ticket, and one of Fleetwood Mac's most interesting records, right after the incredible artistic and commercial success that *Rumours* was. It's a little odd to think this album was released in the same years punk was proving its influence would have to be taken into account from now on (even as they were a hit machine, Fleetwood Mac was also a little anachronistic in their heyday). But in a way, it *also* makes sense that *Tusk* should be released in the same year as The Clash's *London Calling*, for instance. The relationships between the band members had become notoriously chaotic and strained, drugs and booze were a significant part of the album's budget, and Buckingham's songs proved he wanted to explore a more *abrasive* side of things. As a result of this particular "energy", this record goes over all the place, like the needle of a compass maniacally turning on itself. *Tusk* might not be a punk album sonically speaking. But its "spirit" is not so far off that mark. As is usually the case with those classic albums, I won't write a full-blown review here given that others have already written wonderful stuff about them and there's not much I can add that I feel could be relevant and interesting. *Tusk* is just a timeless gem for anyone who has even a remote interest in Fleetwood Mac. Go and listen to it a.s.a.p. if you haven't already. Number of albums left to review or just listen to: 968 Number of albums from the list I find relevant enough to be mandatory listens: 13 (including this one) Albums from the list I *might* include in mine later on: 7 Albums from the list I will *not* include in mine (as I think many others are more important): 10

Not their very best, but still fantastic. Actually prefer the Nicks and McVie contributions to the Buckingham ones.

Finally, Fleetwood Cheese Perfect amount of song diversity

I had listened to this before and didn’t get it but this time I LOVED it. TUSK!

Crazy - hadn’t heard this. Love the kick off track and “Sara”. Not a big Buckingham fan (who leads the charge here) but credit where credit is due.

Very chill. like to listen to more their songs

Great sounds. A very excellent first album on my journey through 1000

Never heard Tusk before this. Loved it.

Daa da da daa da da da da da da daa dun dun dun tusk

A lot of variety in this album. Enjoyed the different vocals of the 3 singers. Quite long but never got fed up

Now I get Fleetwood Mac.

Great 👍

Very good album I enjoyed it

Saved this for Sunday morning. Such a great background track to my long drive.. Loved it

Not as good as Rumours but good in its own way

Beautiful album, as expected by Fleetwood

Bua muy molón

10/10 one if their best albums favorite song: sara, storms

Another gem from the mac

J’adore fleetwoodmac et c’est dans leur top 5. 5*

what makes you think you're the one?

didn't listen to but great

Så många sköna låtar.

Over & over - 3 The ledge - 3 Think about me - 4 Save me a place - 3 Sara - 4 What makes you think you're the one - 3 Storms - 4 That's all for everyone - 3 Not that funny - 3 Sisters of the moon - 4 Angel - 4 That's enough for me - 3 Brown eyes - 4 Never make me cry - 4 I know i'm not wrong - 4 Honey hi - 3 Beautiful child - 4 Walk a thin line - 3 Tusk - 3 Never forget - 3

Overlong and a bit all over the place really. The drums are mixed pretty badly, some lyricism is meh but I couldn't help but enjoy most songs - Fleetwood Mac are just that captivating. Sisters of the Moon a highlight

What a difficult album to rank. A huge departure from the uber-successful Rumours but FM could have never made another Rumours. Parts sound brilliant, parts sound unfinished. A bit of a slog but there’s enough magic to make it an enjoyable listen still. High 3 star - low 4 star

Liked the album a lot considering I’m not a big Fleetwood Mac fan.

A classic album, but not in the same category as Rumors. Best songs are Sisters of the Moon, Storms, Beautiful Child and Tusk.

Odd if you’re expecting Rumours 2. Interesting and different with the drums very forward in the sound and an aggression that seems almost unlike post Peter Green Mac. Still worth your attention though.

Fleetwood Mac is a band that I have barely heard of before because of my lack of knowledge on 70’s and 80’s music (Which will probably become more and more hugely apparent as I write about and rate more albums) So I dreaded listening to this record coming into this because of its 20 song length, come to find out this is a double album and the release after their most popular and acclaimed album, Rumors (An album that I have heard of before), that apparently has a different and more experimental sound, based off the post-punk movement going on during the time of the album. So I was basically going in blind with this one, I haven’t heard Rumors in full before and I had only heard one Fleetwood Mac song before and I liked it, and I’ll say that it did surprise me. Very few duds on this record, and despite the length the album remains solid throughout. They nail the soft country folk/rock sound perfectly and the record gives you a nice mellow, calm feeling that isn’t exactly sadness but it also doesn’t inject you with happiness (mostly). Amazing ballads that have well-written heartfelt lyrics like Storms and Beautiful Child, colorful folk rock like Think About Me and I Know I’m Not Wrong, even though there are some songs I don’t like everything is very colorful and vivid throughout no matter how different the sound is on the songs. If this is what Fleetwood Mac can bring to the table then this has me very excited to listen to Rumors. Highlights: Over & Over, Sara, Storms, That’s All For Everyone, Sisters Of The Moon, Brown Eyes, Never Make You Cry, Beautiful Child, Walk A Thin Line, Never Forget Lowlights: The Ledge, Not That Funny - I’m not gonna lie I though both of these songs were really lame, honestly only having 2 bad songs out of a 20 song double album is very impressive

The light in my dads eyes when I told him I was listening

Christine McVie sings like an angel. Stevie Nicks is timeless. The dudes are pretty meh, though.

I'll get to Tusk in a second, but I'll admit I've never given Rumours a full shot, just songs here and there, and many reviews here are drawing comparisons to that record. When it comes to Tusk, and without the context of its predecessor, I enjoyed it for what it is. Even if you can hear some of the "blank check, do what you want" aspect of the way this album was made, I definitely don't get the sense that it's really that avant-garde, the instrumentation is middling (with the exception of some great bass at times), and the lyrics are whatever, but it still works. I didn't feel the need to switch off the record even with the fact it's a double LP.

Fleetwood Mac in their golden era. Top stuff. Seemed to like the Stevie Nicks stuff the most. Either way, a cool variety of songs with the different songwriters in the band, some better than others.

Never listened to this before, so happy that it came up. It's less experimental than advertised - more just a break with their earlier sound. And it sometimes reminds me of late Beatles, if only in the sense that it seems like there are several songwriters operating independently from each other. It's a long album and not everything works, but there's great stuff on here, and it's a strong four stars.

the ledge ofc but we alreadyknew that :)

Rumours með Fleetwood Mac er líklegast ein af þeim plötum sem ég set oftast á þegar ég veit ekki hvað mig langar að hlusta á. Ég set ekki aðrar plötur með þeim þannig að þetta var góð tilbreyting. Frábært stöff en ég set fjórar bara af því að ég veit hvað þau eiga inni með Rumours.

Such a broad range of songs with the through-line that is Fleetwood Mac’s musical synergy. I wouldn’t say any singular song blew me away, but together it’s such a solid—often soothing, sometimes electrifying—collection of songs. Strong four! STAND-OUT SONG: “Brown Eyes” HONORABLE MENTIONS: “Sara”, “Never Make Me Cry”

(6/7) some strong stuff on here

There's a great single-disc album here.

A bit conflicted by this album because this album was really consistent it didn’t have the heights of rumours, it also didn’t have some of the cheese of it either, definitely a welcome listen because I’ve never heard this album before but again why 2 albums from the Buckingham/nicks era and no Peter agree era

So this one doesn't measure up anywhere near to Rumours, but what does? They took some risks on here, some worked, some not so much, but there's a good bit to like.

Sous-côté par rapport à Rumours qui est sur-côté

There's a lot of texture and interesting things going on with the production that's a bit more experimental than their other albums, which I dig, even though I miss having an obvious hit (other than the title song).

This album is really pleasant, I like it.

Fleetwood Mac is probably the most popular band I’m not that familiar with. I’ve listened to Rumours before but the rest is terra incognita. Tusk isn’t quite as hard-hitting but it’s interesting. I’ll have to listen to it some more before I can really get a feel for it.

This is my second FM album and I feel like their overall sound just doesn't land on my ears right. Their music is solid, but I don't feel like I'm hearing what everyone else hears when they give them praise. Maybe I just need to listen to them more? Anyways, this was a good listen. I found that Nick's songs were typically the ones I liked. I would give this a 3.5, but I'm okay with a 4.

6.10.26 really good album but i got very distracted while listening bc i learned my ac will be broken for two months. anyway prob my fave so far Favorite Song: The Ledge Rating: 4.5/5

Not anywhere near Rumors but still pretty solid. Saved a couple songs

I've never listened to this record before, probably because I really don't like the title track. That made it a fun trip since I like Fleetwood Mac on balance. I found a ton to like on two listens and will take more spins to unpack it. Seems to me like Lindsey is the person most ready to turn the corner. The fact that they barely ever sing together on this record seems very real to me.

Love Fleetwood Mac Stevie Nick vocals are unreal. Tight band funky rock songs 😎 Not quite the passion of Rumours but still good album

Fleetwood Mac is like pizza. Even “bad” pizza is pretty damn good

No es muy mi estilo pero está bueno, tocara escucharlo más veces

A great album, although I argue that Rumors is still there best. Highlights: "Save Me A Place" and "Sister's of the Moon"

Fleetwood Mac are fucking excellent. I’ve only listened to Rumours before and this wasn’t far off in terms of quality, and I liked how there was more electric guitar this time around. Excellent guitar, drums, vocals, and vibes throughout. Marking down a star fairly harshly because it’s a tad too long - if a few songs were chopped off the end, the album would be better for it.

A complete change from Rumours which didn’t meet with approval from all fans. I loved it!!

Great double album.

They make beautiful music, all very ahead of its time, and it always surprises me. The one thing that bothers me is the lack of ‘variety’. Essentially what I mean by this is that on a first time listen, a lot of the songs sort of blend into each other. You could call this cohesive style, but many bands, like Radiohead, the Beatles, the Clash, do this without it feeling repetitive, even on first listen. And I know Fleetwood Mac can do it.. I’ve listened to Rumours. Apart from that, super good, especially for a double disk! Incredible. Will be listening again!

Could go either way on this to 3 or 4. But giving benefit of doubt

Wasn’t as familiar with this one, but still fun.

Fleetwood Mac has such a nice sound, and the different vocalists keep things fresh even across a 70+min album. I feel that the album should've ended with Tusk, but otherwise this was an excellent ride. 4.5 rounded down.

This felt like a fun collection of more polished demos, but I'm not sure that there was a consistent thread to connect them. As such, it could have probably benefitted from editing to trim a few of the tracks out. So, I'm not sure I want to round that 4.5 stars up.

ufff amo fleetwood mac, los amo, pero no es mi album favorito de ell@s

4.5 favs: storms, sara, sisters of the moon, tusk

It's classic fleetwood Mac, cant complain really

Unique coming off of Rumors I think the band and the money that came from that I think this album was their work of love basically doing what they felt. 4 stars actually enjoyed it.

I didn’t like this at first, the first few songs that way Lindsay’s voice was recorded/mixed and some of the sharper edged sounds. But as the album went on it continued to grow on me and by the end I loved the back half of the album. Not as consistent as rumours, but still very good and I think this will reward me on re listens.

When you’re reviewing a new album each day, there are a lot that don’t get the time they deserve, or that you just take at face value and move on from. Had I done that here I would have missed out. Now I don’t pretend to be musically inclined, and I didn’t really appreciate this album until towards the end and upon a second listen through with lyrics and reading about its creation. Beautiful Child was the standout to me and probably my favorite each time. But wow, I learned so much here, about the band, their inspiration, musical experimentation, etc. Huge credit to Spotify’s Song DNA (I strongly recommend exploring when available). Ultimately, this album delivered exactly what I want from this journey. Something new in the old, discovery and appreciation I would have otherwise passed by, learning more about the artistry and techniques that made the album unique for the time, and an invitation to explore more about the musicians and their other works.

Even if it feels like an odd one out from the Fleetwood Mac discography, it's still a Fleetwood Mac album. I can't think of a track that really stood out as best but the music quality is still there.

вроде все хорошо и приятно звучит, но ни одна песня не зацпила настолько чтобы ее сохранить...

Is it self-indulgently overlong? Yep. Does it suffer the usual curse of double-albums of hiding a better single album somewhere in there? Yep. But do I forgive a lot of the bloat for that title track…? Absolutely, yep.

really long but good

I hadn’t listened to this album for a long time; and not very much, for that matter. Listening to it with fresh ears, I liked it quite a bit more than I expected to, even though some of the songs are really longer than they need to be. I would really like to give it 3.5 stars, but I will round up to four.

Lang niet zo gefocust en consistent als Rumours, maar genoeg individuele mooie nummers om 4 sterren te kunnen strooien.

Listening to this on my computer through headphones and it is definitely the wrong choice. I know very little of Fleetwood Mac beyond Rumours and that is probably a shame. One almost perfect album shouldn't be a way to decide about a band and a legacy. This is the album after. Another double album in a row. Just finished Exile on Main Street where it is the last gasp of rock for a band who is done and then this double of a band falling apart and trying to distance themselves. Heroin for the Stones and cocaine for Fleetwood Mac. I don't have any context for this album other than against Rumours. So, here we go. Mostly thoughts as I listen. I have heard The Hedge before. Something about it reminds me of Mumford and Son. There is a brightness and trebly quality to the sound here. Definitely some production tricks with the whispers. So far not as experimental as I have been lead to believe. Might also be due to so much music that I have heard over the years. Way brighter than Exile that I just finished yesterday. This is like too much light off the water on a summer's day rather than the muffle under water. I really wished I wasn't using Spotify for this. I wish I had Tidal on my work computer. I may end up using my phone for the remainder of the time that I listen away from my home. I just found out that Camper Van Beethoven did a whole cover album of this. I will be listening to that as I really dig David Lowery. I can imagine that it will be more experimental than what I have heard so far. Sometimes these songs sound like they belong to another album. They share some similar DNA of sounds but from somewhere else. This is Storms that makes me wonder about this. I like this song. Very much jingly jangly. That's all for everyone seems like a half a song. Maybe something that Andy Patridge was working on for XTC. Something that didn't make the Beatles influenced Skylarking. Sometimes this feels like the Travelling Wilburys with more treble. This feels like a coke bender between frantic come ups and mellow comedowns, never spending enough time to fully follow an idea to an end. Either getting bored or sliding into a more mellow tune. Sisters of the Moon. Solo at the end was not as wanky as I expected. Self indulgent but only going so far. Angel feels Proud Mary like to me. That's Enough for Me reminds me that I should re-listen to T-Rex. Something Bolanesque about this one. Brown Eyes the first song that feels really experimental to me probably due to the weirdos I listen to. This song seems to be perpetually ending on the next beat; like falling forward walking upstairs. Never Make Me Cry feels like a full song. Probably the first fully formed one. I'm starting to think it isn't that bad of thing to be like this. This becomes apparent on Honey Hi which sounds like a Rumours reject. It also sounds like a rock/pop version of minimal techno with repeating phrases over simple melodies and beats. Maybe just a pop version of experimental techno? I hate the piano in Beautiful Child. I can't say why. The first song I want to skip but I hold out. Tusk - Another one that feels like an experiment. T-Rex, Tom Waits or a demo. All feel at home here. This is a wandering, meandering time of someone lost and trying to find a way. Some great production and some bad decisions. I would lean to a 3.75 for the shining moments. --- I have read a number of the reviews and while it looks as if I have been leaning towards some themes. I like to listen to records as if they are intended to be heard together and have some sort of cohesion. It doesn't have to be sonically. It could be thematic. This just seems to be a whiplash mood and wanting to do something different. I don't find it as trashy, disconnected or experimental as others. There are some cool production tricks and a definite impact of substances on the recording. I will give it a 4. I will probably dip in sometime in the future when I listen to some alt country, 80/90s prog rock or some more organic techno. --- I finished listening to the Camper Van Beethoven cover. It is a great companion piece to this. I will definitely be listening to that again.

It's Fleetwood Mac.

Honestly a bit of a sad album but so good and beautiful and emotional at the same time.

My dad always says that this album is made up of all the songs that didn't make it into Rumours. I tend to agree with him on this one, not as good as Rumours, but still exceptional music.

This probably should have been two albums, but it was still cool to jam for a while. It felt like time slowed down :)

It was good 🙂👍. My favorites were Over & Over, The Ledge, and Never Forget. Overall, I would give it a 3.9/5! 🍃

Favorite Song: Sisters of the Moon

Too many songs, they all kinda blend into one towards the end. Great music though

Fun to learn about some of the background of this album. Makes me like it more to know that it was kind of against the grain of the major label. Christine's vocals are so underrated. Love the production on "Not That Funny" and "Over & Over". I haven't listened to this album for a few years, but I feel like the standouts are completely different now than they were before.

This album is interesting, but doesn't have much listening value beyond that. It's also way too long. I don't need a double album for whatever this is.

4.5 A few weaker songs, mostly the more experimental Buckingham stuff. Could have done a shorter album that would almost be comparable to rumours out of the better stuff though

Maybe the best fleetwood mac b-sides record ever? I don't mean that as an insult this just feels like their version of the white album where they just got all the ideas out there in a non cohesive but fun listen.

Sara and Tusk are highlights for sure

Tusk is kind of the anti-Rumours to me. Rumours is instantly pleasant, catchy, coherent and full of hits. Tusk takes some time to digest and is very inconsistent in terms of theme and sound. Rumours is the anger, passion, and immediate emotion of a great relationship going sour. Tusk is the hangover and the struggle to put the pieces back together. But something about that grows on you. I find myself enjoying Tusk a little bit more every time I listen. It’s bloated, and some of the middle songs are forgettable, but I think as a whole Tusk deserves more credit than it gets. 4/5.

For such a long album, it does not get stale. I went into this very much a fan of Fleetwood Mac, but I did not know any songs off of this album. The fact that they can rely on so many different vocalists is really a delight. "Sara" and "Sisters of the Moon" really stood out to me, this makes me want to listen to all of their discography and discover what else I am missing. I am guessing they have albums I would enjoy even more than this one.

This really is Fleetwood Mac’s White Album….

I guess I'll rate this a four, I don't know, like a weak four, it's good, a bit long, Sara and Tusk are great, none of the tracks I dislike really, it's a pleasant listen.

Variety: 3 Adequacy: 5 Listenability: 5 Uniqueness: 3 Emotionality: 3 = 3.8 rounded up to a 4 "Come on, you guys are like Fleetwood Mac. You break up, you get back together again, and then you go out and make a great album… like The Best of Fleetwood Mac" This is one I've never heard all the way through. Hell, I'm not even sure what else I have heard aside form the title track. I didn't really appreciate Fleetwoood Mac until my 30s ( aside from "Everywhere" - that's always been and remains a favorite) I don't think, and came to love Rumours, as well as a handful of others from a random selection of albums before and after that one very late in the game. I think their hits that got played on the radio were just a given, sort of like The Eagles when I was a kid. This is pretty much a blank check album for them I think. After the massive success of Rumours they could do anything they want, and like a lot of bands they decided to splurge creatively and try to make the masses listen to their more idiosyncratic ideas. That often backfires, but lets see what 46 years or so does for this one. THE TRACKS Side one "Over & Over" - Some country-fried guitars bring us into this low and slow number. While both McVie and Nicks are great in their own way, McVie will always be my favorite of the two. This is the band taking their sweet time, knowing full well they don't have to grab you right away, and sets the table for a more drawn out and patience testing album. Will that test turn out in their favor though. I hope so, if this pleasant little thing is any indication. "The Ledge" - This weird, jumpy little number seems like Buckingham heard some Joe Jackson or Devo or something on the radio and was like "I can do that." It feels like it's heading in the direction he'd go with solo stuff like "Holiday Road." This is pretty catchy nonetheless, and would call it a successful, if risky swing. "Think About Me" - We go back to some tried and true safe territory on this one. Fine enough, but nothing especially hooky here ( though the band almost has a solid level of always having some decent vocal hooks and harmonies) and feels more like a jam piece with no particular direction. "Save Me a Place" - This one reminds me a bit of the odder stuff Paul McCartney would have been doing several years earlier on Ram. O'm a sucker for all that light fare though. Kind of a campfire singalong vibe here, and I dig it. "Sara" - We had to wait five tracks to get the first Stevie Nicks showcase, but I guess there's a lot more opportunities on this wahle of an album ,so no biggie. I have heard this one before though, so it must have been pushed as a single. The kind of beautiful layered stuff I expect from the band, and would not sound entirely out of play on Rumours. Which actually makes me wonder if any of the stuff here were maybe reworked leftovers from that. Not that it would be a knock against them. Ton of bands do that. But in particular I think these guys are known for it. At least Buckingham and Nicks when they joined up brought a a lot of their previous material over and retooled it for the band. Side two "What Makes You Think You're the One" - Another big swing from Buckngham as it seems like he's swimming in the same water as David Byrne with his off kilter delivery. Again though, I think it works. It's a bit shaggy and unproduced so sounds weirder coming from this band than it might from anyone else, but still pretty damn good. "Storms" - I was worried at first that this one wasn't going to build towards anything, but eventually we got a bit of a rise. This is the sort of thing I could imagine being cover song fodder for any number of 2010s indie rockers, and could become gold in Cyndi Lauper's hands especially I think. As is, it's nice enough but that's all. Or in some alternate universe where Buckingham and Nicks had continued on as a duo, this would have had a place on their bizarro version of Richard and Linda Thompson's Shoot Out the Lights. "That's All for Everyone" - If Buckingham was referencing McCartney earlier, he seems to be drawing from the essence of Lennon on this one. I love how busy this is. It holds up incredibly well, and probably would not blink an eye if I had heard this blind and someone told me it was a deep cut from some modern-ish neo-psych pop act like Olivia Tremor Control maybe. "Not That Funny" - Late period Kinks pulled this sort of chameleonesque thing off much better I think. Buckingham takes another swing, but this time misses the mark ever so slightly. He goes too hard with the vocals here, but despite that I still kind of like it. Just not their best. "Sisters of the Moon" - The Macs try their hand at a gothy disco number and... it's fine? This is sort of the flip side of The Rolling Stone's "Miss You" in that it starts from the same place and goes in a vastly different place. Both have that disco beat, but where "Miss You" is tight and hoppy, and bluesy bit of fun, this is sprawling and self serious. Side three "Angel" - Another return to the old sound here, and to my ears kind of apes the chorus of "Werewolves of London" in the main guitar line ( I just had to loo this up, and can't find anyone else making this connection, but John McVie and Mick Fleetwood both play on the Zevon track!). More middle of the raid, decent stuff, but nothing special. "That's Enough for Me" - Even more of a preview of solo Buckingham sound we would get on "Holiday Road" I think. This one is so much that that it even seems like he could have just wandered into it after trying to replicate this. This is fun stuff. It almost sounds like it wants to be a zydeco song, but with completely different instrumentation. Wonder if there are any covers out there that would scratch that itch. "Brown Eyes"- Slowing back down a bit for some Steely Dan-ish organ driven sounds. It stays in the same groove the whole time, and while interesting, never quite delivers any sort of musical catharsis. "Never Make Me Cry" - This is the kind of thing few people can get away with making me like. McVie takes an interesting, but sappy idea and adds some real depth with her vocals. Linda Ronstadt or early Tom Waits could have had a great take on this. "I Know I'm Not Wrong" - Everyone is firing on all cylinders here. We got interesting, catchy music with some airy, unique harmonies ad backing vocals to support Buckingham's lead. That fat synth sound and the heavilu processed ( I think?) drums sound almost like another band. Side four "Honey Hi" - This was as light and thin as anything on the album, both composition and lyric-wise, but damn if I didn't find myself tapping a toe along to it. "Beautiful Child" - Nicks does a fine job here, as always, but this one was kind of a mood killer for me. The best parts of this were Nicks's build towards the end and the subtle, simple piano accompaniment. "Walk a Thin Line" - I can hear a little bit of Beatles influence on this one. This was pretty and full of nice hooks. "Tusk" - But this one is completely made up of hooks. Some kind of weird phantasmagoric marching band ( the USC Trojans marching band literally played on this track) bursts into the middle of this dark and moody number and everyone gets mixed up and blends together and in the chaos who knows where one ends and the other begins. "Never Forget" -Solid closer with Christine McVie shining once again and elevating material that's maybe not their greatest. This sucker's an inch away from being a Captain and Tennille song. HIGHLIGHTS - "Over & Over" - "The Ledge" - "Save Me a Place" - "Sara" - "What Makes You Think You're the One" - "That's All for Everyone" - "That's Enough for Me" - "Never Make Me Cry" - "I Know I'm Not Wrong" - "Honey Hi" - "Walk a Thin Line" - "Tusk" MIDLIGHTS - "Think About Me" - "Storms" - "Not That Funny" - "Sisters of the Moon" - "Angel" - "Brown Eyes" - "Beautiful Child" - "Never Forget" LOWLIGHTS FINAL THOUGHTS The weirder stuff worked best for me on this. My admiration for Fleetwood Mac continues to grow, especially as I hear more and more of their back catalog. I definitely prefer the stuff after Buckingham and Nicks joined, but there's still a ton of good older material. This one can't hold a candle to Rumours, but there's not much that can. I appreciate them stretching their legs here and trying new sounds more than anything, and there's more than a whole album's worth of great tunes on here. The problem is that they're spread out amongst a lot of decent to good filler. Still there's a LOT more to like than dislike on here. It never approaches classic level for me, but it was a damn solid listen with a lot of surprises. And who doesn't like listening to songs from a band you like for the first time. PLAYLIST ALTERATIONS - Those highlights by themselves would make this a legit high 4-star album for me FURTHER LISTENING - The Original Soundtrack by 10cc - Moving Targets by Flo & Eddie - Hotel California by The Eagles - Law and Order by Lindsay Buckingham - Bella Donna by Stevie Nicks - Titanic Rising by Weyes Blood

Studio: we've never had such success. Just make rumours again. We'll bankroll any amount! Fleetwood Mac: Oh you want rumours again? How about the opposite. This hit in a really weird way. Rumours is a much easier listen. This one goes a bit long at times and isn't all perfect but there's a lot that stands out. Tusk. Sara. Sister's of the Moon. Storms are all easy stand outs. Some like What Makes You Think You're the One even are interesting listens. Cool album and I like how experimental this feels vs the success they had just had. I almost love this more just for the creativity it shows when it would've been easier to just follow the formula they wrote and cash cheques.

I really enjoyed this listen. It's not a perfect album and that's one of the reasons I liked it. I think a there was a quite a bit of music in the 2010s influenced by Fleetwood Mac. Some tracks that stood out for me. The Ledge Storms Sisters of the Moon I'd like to re visit this one.

Best song is “Sara” and “Tusk.” “Beautiful Child” is a newfound love. I really love Stevie Nick’s vocals.

Getting this album a bit more now, I feel the strengths are in the two girls songs, they may be more low key then rumours but the hit the same deaths in emotion Kinda like what blond was for me, more low key but deeper and maybe more long lasting

I love Fleetwood Mac. Though, this isn’t my favorite album. It’s pretty good though!

Hard to follow Rumours. Great songs. Love Sara and Tusk

I think that coming out after their most iconic album, Rumors, it was hard not to try and step back into that light with Tusk. However, seldom for a few songs, this album just sounds like the scraps from Rumors. I adore Fleetwood Mac, but I would have to skip too many songs to ever pick up this album in particular.

I belong to the unfortunate percentage of the population to have listened copiously to "Rumours" without bothering to give their follow-up album a listen. Thankfully this list has forced me to do so and it is really rather good; even for a first listen in which I probably wasn't able to give my full attention to the second half. It is longer and has a wider range of tracks, that I'll definitely be giving another listen. Favourites: Over & Over The Ledge Sara Tusk

This band is legendary, but this album was kind of all over the place for me. Solid, but not their best!

mt bom pra ficar triste e pra ficar feliz e varias emoções, 4.7 estrelas

I’ve never really got into Fleetwood Mac beyond Rumours, which is just hit after hit and genuinely superb. Every track feels purposeful and it manages to be both cohesive and varied at the same time. It’s a brilliant album and a tough benchmark for anything to live up to. So going into Tusk, I was interested to see how it would compare. Straight away, it feels like a very different kind of record. Where Rumours is polished and full of big moments, Tusk is more relaxed, more experimental, and a lot less concerned with delivering obvious hits. It’s got a chilled, almost understated feel to it, and at times it feels like the band are just exploring ideas rather than trying to land big, memorable songs. That approach makes it an easy listen in many ways. It flows nicely, there’s a certain style and atmosphere to it, and you can appreciate the creativity behind it. But at the same time, it doesn’t grab your attention in the same way. It lacks the energy and consistency of Rumours, and there aren’t many tracks that really jump out and demand a replay. Favourite tracks: “Sara” is a really nice, mellow standout and probably the track that stayed with me the most Least favourite tracks: Nothing I disliked. Everything is worth a listen, it just blends together a bit and doesn’t leave a huge impression Album artwork: Cool album cover, I like the dog.

Very good album. Definitely between 4 and 5 stars. The album is quite long, but the point is that it features three pretty different composers. The tracks by McVie are basically very good songs. The tracks by Buckingham are highly experimental and surprising (and are likely to grow on me). The songs by Nicks are, in my view, great. This would be 5 stars, without a doubt, if all songs were written (and sung) by Stevei Nicks.

It's a strange dump of songs and runs a little long. But I like it. All of the songs feel very original, and I never really got bored. Still classic Fleetwood Mac.

Rating: 8/10 Maybe it's less perfect and more scattered than Rumours, but I still love it. Its 20 tracks and 74 minutes make for a great soundtrack to a weekend morning and the variety between its three songwriters is quite nice. Sara is amazing, my favorite song, but there's also Storms, the beautiful Sisters of the Moon and Angel, Beautiful Child. Oh, I just listed all of the Stevie Nicks songs so you can guess where I regard her in the band. Christine McVie has some great contributions too though, like with opener Over & Over and Brown Eyes. The only thing about this album is that the Lindsey Buckingham songs are the ones that don't do it for me as much, but they're still enjoyable. It would be a very respectable choice for one's favorite Fleetwood album, so much to love

This was a very enjoyable listening experience and I really wouldn't have expected nothing less. The title track is a really underrated Fleetwood Mac song in my personal opinion. It's a good thing to know that the rest of the album is just as good as the song.

Fleetwood Mac Tusk - 4/5 - Positives: A huge soundscape experiment when compared to their commercially safe Rumors Album, It’s ability to cross Each member provides unique and pivotal roles - McVie with her anecdotal ballads, Nicks with her lush and alluring arrangements, Buckingham with his eclectic structure - overall providing a phenomenal experience, Each member provides an insightful amount of depth and internal tension the band would have been experiencing; varying from a number of topics - Nicks with the overall theme of heartbreak, Buckingham with an inner reflection of vulnerability and aggression, And McVie offering a safe space for the listener to reset with themes of everyday emotions commonly resembling affection, On first listen Tusk is incredibly jarring (Especially following Rumours) being scattered with sonic whiplash and lengthy tracks; yes, but don’t let that trick you this vision stands true in my opinion as the band’s Magnum Opus with an addicting amount of replayability and influence to what I’m sure would shape the indie scene. Verdict: 89-90/100. This album I have to say is a timeless classic and worthy to be on the list of Albums To Listen To. Though some would consider a long album I say its tendency to remain unsettled, leaving the user in a state of disarray is met with grounded counterpoint structures that helps the project venture into masterpiece territory and something that could be listened to on repeat for a lifetime depending on what mood you’re in. A near perfect album and one to add to the collection. Favourite Songs: Over & Over Sara What makes You Think That You’re One Storms That’s all for everyone Not That Funny Brown Eyes I know I’m Not Wrong Beautiful Child Walk a Thin Line Tusk

So good, you can really distinguish between different songwriters. However, it’s not rumours

An interesting, but slightly bloated, follow up to Rumours. I like the generally soft rock sound that the album has, with Sara and Sisters of the Moon, but most of the more experimental numbers also come off. The title track, complete with USC marching band, is mad, but I like it. It is too long though- whereas Rumours channelled the band’s tensions into a tight and gripping album, Tusk is sprawling, feeling like each member had to have a few songs to keep them satisfied. A very good album, but would have benefited from being more concise.

There was a lot I enjoyed about this album. The varying styles of the songs kept the album interesting throughout its long run time. My three favourite tracks ‘Over and Over’, ‘That’s All for Everyone’ and the title track are all representative of different styles. That being said, it’s an album I like rather than love, which is why I’m giving it 4 stars.

Wisely choosing to not try and recreate ‘Rumours’, this album is a quite different follow-up, not as consistent but still great, with some excellent contributions from all three songwriters. Lindsey Buckingham's more experimental tracks in particular have clearly taken some influence from (post)-punk, while Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie, by contrast, have gone for a much softer, more melodic approach with many of theirs. They're not the flashiest rhythm section but I've also always liked John McVie and especially Mick Fleetwood too. ‘Tusk’ isn’t as good as ‘Rumours’, but it’s certainly still worthy of a very strong 4 stars.

Very pleasant. Hard to hate Fleetwood Mac

It’s and probably too long but also by turns fragile and brittle and frustrated and a band all up in their feelings about each other and everyone around them. It’s my shit. I do love Fleetwood Mac.

mt bao

second time hearing this and this time i’ve learnt to appreciate this for its experimentation and how different it is to other albums by them, some great tunes, it’s a bit messy but in a structured and beautiful way

Listening this time, it feels like it has more filler tracks than Rumours but it's still pretty great.

Jees!

Look, it's not Rumours. That's about the only negative I can come up with.

nice album, i like the chill songs a lot

Not a perfect album, but fantastic overall. Appreciate the creativity of Buckingham, despite tracks like "Not that Funny". Rating: 8/10 Favorite Song: Sisters of the Moon

There is some funky bass on this album. Why isn't all their stuff like this? Favorite Track: The Ledge

Kaunis. Sopii roadtripille tai rentoon(ish) fiilistelyyn. Sisältää myös menevämpiä kappaleita. Ei hidas eikä nopea. Tämän albumin kanssa on hetkessä läsnä.

Obviously Nicks and McVie didn't get Buckingham's memo about the new wave style on this album. Like most double albums the changing between them is a bit jarring at times. But overall some amazing songs, especially the Buckingham ones where we find him thinking out the box a great deal here. After the rouring success of Rumours it would have been easy to try to make another, so credit to them for pushing the bounds of their creativity. Although Sara really is just like every other Stevie Nicks song she wrote.

8.5/10. I love Fleetwood Mac, and this one feels like them just doing whatever they wanted. It’s messy, experimental, sometimes all over the place… but that’s kind of the charm. Not as clean as their other stuff, but way more interesting.

Rich production. Depth of songwriting. This is a strong album.

Synes det var rart at lytte til, og nice at dykke mere ned i Fleetwood mac, kender kun Rumours albummet <33 det er gemt

The Lindsay songs are odd no doubt, but charming

So great - not on par with the two previous albums (5/5), but still great. Sara is amazing

Certainly not another Rumours but that was always going to be difficult to follow up. Having said that, Tusk is still a great albulm. Best track probably Sara but hard to pick.

After making the *incredibly* well received, wildly successful classic that is Rumours, where could Fleetwood Mac have possibly gone? The answer is Tusk, a 75 minute long, messy, overbuget, cocaine fueled cult classic masterpiece. I will say that Tusk kind of has to get up to speed, but from Storms on, the band is in pretty rare form. There is the full spectrum of great songwriting, from the hard rockin, weirdly percussion centered, high energy title track to beautiful little cuts like Beautiful Child and Brown Eyes and even jammier stuff like Sisters Of The Moon. Even though I do think the album hits a stride later, I think The Ledge is one of the coolest songs here. It's got a raw, lo-fi sound, a weird, high energy bass guitar core, and a subtle country twang. Out of virtue of being big and weird and messy, this isn't exactly gonna end up perfect, but there is a pretty incredible consistency here for what this is. It ends up as an exploration of great, varied songs, unexpected sounds, and a raw attitude that makes this a pretty exciting listen. Honestly, I'm not even sure I've fully processed Tusk, but the more I think about it, the fonder I feel about it.

Love this album already! I listened to song on it I hadn’t heard and was impressed

Good quite long 3.5 rounded up

Really fun listen, I'd say I enjoy it just as much as Rumours

Beautiful set of songs! Not quite as banger-after-banger as rumours but lovely all the same.

Didn't recognize any of these songs which was a treat. A lot of really good tracks with differing levels of pop rock to soft rock throughout. The vocal changes also help keep things interesting and fresh. There are a lot of performances that feel very personal and come from the core during writing and gives it an oomph. Its such an easy album to listen to as it just sits back with you and lets it flow around you. Highlights for me would be Tusk, Walk a Thin Line, Beautiful Child, That's All for Everyone, Sara and The Ledge.

this could very potentially marinate and be a 5. i think there was just one too many songs that felt a bit gimmicky? otherwise, i adored so many of the others. i've never properly listened to fleetwood mac despite how iconic they are, and i could really hear why on the tracks that i loved.

This album was pretty good. I don't know a lot about Fleetwood Mac, besides the obviously amazing album that is Rumours. I went into this album thinking I was going to love it, but in the end, I thought it was just pretty good, a 4. Most of the songs sound good, a great mix of upbeat and slower songs, unlike Rumours, a lot of the songs are kinda just forgettable. However, the songs I do remember, like Beautiful Child and the title track, are really good.

Didn’t recognize any of the songs here, but it was intricate in parts. I enjoyed the Lindsey Buckinham, energetic songs. Not too bad.

Although the jams are sometimes righteous, I can feel the separation in the songwriting here. Still great!

Based on what I read, this was a far cry of a follow up to Rumours. Based on my listening experience, it was definitely different from their usual sound. It was good though. Very abrasive at times but nothing bad. I do think “Sara” is slightly overrated, as Stevie just doesn’t have a good grasp of the tone and some of the vocals are so compacted to fit into the chords. Aside from that, I enjoyed my time and got a lot of liked songs from it, especially the very African influenced title track.

This band really knows how to craft catchy tunes. Off the peak of Rumors, this is still a great album.

Fine 3.9

It's a bit bloated, but many of my favorite Fleetwood Mac songs are on this album. It's just so smooth and groovy!

Really solid album, I enjoyed it. Only gripe is it shouldn’t have been a double

Thought it was pretty good. I must have listened to Rumours a million times in my life, not do much this one. Tusk the song is great and I enjoyed some of the others, especially the Stevie Nicks vocals. 3.5 stars rounded up for the Tusk drums

I’ve always really liked this album. It’s not Rumours, but it’s great in its own right.

Хороший альбом, с очень мелодичными песнями. Да и в целом мне очень нравится эта группа.

first time listening to this album. for every song on here that feels underbaked, there's another 2-3 songs that really surprised me and opened my ears to side of Fleetwood Mac I wasn't aware of. honestly I could do without most of the tracks where Stevie Nicks takes the lead, and it's not just about her voice but a lot of those songs feel underdeveloped structurally and instrumentally. some songs here feel like precursors to entire genres down the line that I'm big into, from the jangle rock of the '80s to the lo-fi weirdness of the '90s thru to the indie rock of the 2010s. about 2/3 of this album will become part of the rotation and the other 1/3 I'd be fine never spinning again.

Great listen!

HOT DAMN!! Woulda preferred perhaps a different Fleetwood Mac album but I can’t be too picky. It’s still iconic and great. And great it really is. Some of the most impressive vocal performances from the band members, ESPECIALLY Stevie. Even though its intense eclecticism leads to a few straight duds (most notably the incredibly annoying “what makes you think…”), there’s a surprising amount of what I assume are new sounds to the band that actually work insanely well, even in the context of a soft rock album, including two cowpunk songs that are actually incredibly good, and a new wave song that I WILL defend fiercely. Very little filler too, even with its impressive 74 minutes of runtime. The only real filler I’d say exists here is the song “you’ll never make me cry,” and even that is pretty half-decent. The peaks of this album though (“Sara,” “Angel,” “Brown Eyes,” “I Know I’m Not Wrong,” “Tusk,” “Never Forget,” etc.) are too many and too incredible to not look at this album for what it really is: an exceptional soft rock album with some true experimental and forward-thinking tendencies. 9.2/10

por qué las mejores siempre las cantan ellas? preguntas que te hacen reflexionar

Remarkably had never gotten around to listening to this album! Really respect the adventurousness and experimentation after the huge success of Rumours and really digging the vibe. I remember an interview with Buckingham where he discussed that there was no way they were going to repeat the success of Rumours, even if they made Rumours 2, so why bother? So much good stuff to digest here.

Enjoyed this but it's still not as accomplished as Rumours.

It’s good. But it’s no rumours

No el mejor Fleetwood Mac pero un gran Fleetwood Mac

I really enjoyed this album, its a classic FLWM take on soft rock music. It had some songs that I will be adding to my playlist, and I will listen to it again someday!

Niet hun beste album naar mijn idee maar nog steeds heerlijk om naar te luisteren

Loved this album more than I expected. Have yet to really dive into FM's discography.

A very good album! One of my favorite bands.

Many good songs

Seems a steep drop from Rumors. A slow start, some solid tracks, none blew me away. 3.5 if I could.

Ahhhh Tusk. This has an incredibly high reputation in certain circles as the "weird" Fleetwood Mac album. Let's give it a go. - Ok. This album was considered very strange at the time of its release - contemporary critics harped on the experimentation and unorthodox recording methods. But I'll be honest - it just sounds like prime Fleetwood Mac to me. Not that I'm complaining - I really enjoy these songs. But when digging into the background on this album, people (including Lindsay Buckingham) kept throwing around the words "punk," and "post punk," and I just don't hear it. That being said, this set of songs is really strong, and while the individual moments of brilliance don't live up to those found on "Rumours," it works just as well as a whole piece. Which is saying something, as there are twice as many songs here. I really enjoyed this and will be firing it up more often. FOUR STARS

love the vibe

Enjoyed this quite a lot, gone onto my listen later list.

The reference point for romantic songs. Good variety and arrangements.

Always great to listen to Tusk (the song), and I was happy to hear some other songs I wasn't familiar with. For example, Sisters of the Moon is a banger.

Favorite Track: Sisters of the Moon

Realmente estoy disfrutando este álbum, tiene algo que me llama la atención. Tiene buenos ritmos, diría que algo nostálgicos.

Following up one of the best albums of all time is an unfortunately difficult feat for Tusk. While I think trimming some fat on the album could vault it to being an all-time great, I’m sure I’ll come back to the high points of this one just as much as my favorites from Rumours.

Sara and Sisters of the Moon are two songs I hadn’t heard before but really liked.

Just a really good album.

I had misremembered the sequencing of this album, so much so that by the time Tusk finally played I had thought I had missed it during the first hour. This is really a much more solid album than I remember and it is probably still only my fourth or fifth favorite from Fleetwood Mac. Solid member of the catalog. Maybe it will move up the rankings.

Great drum voicing on Sara. Sisters of the Moon was great. The title track has always been a favorite and generally the back of the album clicked a lot for me. It’s no Rumors but I found some new things I liked.

There’s some great shit on this record. The band was clearly just throwing everything at the wall. A brilliant result. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 💿

i love the cover above anything else

дуже вімсікал, fav songs: sara, storms, sisters of the moon, beautiful child

Not GREAT, not BAD love the dog, gets +1 point 4/5

A double album is a little excessive but hey man Fleetwood Mac can do no wrong. Sara is their 2nd best song IMO (after Silver Springs) so just for that I gotta give this album a good rating.

This was somewhere between a 3 and a 4 for me. I think I liked it enough to listen to the whole thing again, so will give it a 4

Fucking hell, is it long. Not quite Rumors but not bad at all Eleinte kicsit untatott😔 De a végére egész megkedveltem

pretty good, but not quite rumours

Divertido

Mooi, wat rustiger dan Rumours (die ik wel goed ken). Wel net zo'n fijn geluid. Highlights: Sara, Sisters of the Moon

Identity crisis: The Album

Great Songs: Think About Me, Sara, I Know I'm Not Wrong Good Songs: Over & Over, The Ledge, Save Me a Place, What Makes You Think You're the One, Storms, Not That Funny, Sisters of the Moon, Angel, That's Enough For Me, Never Make Me Cry, Honey Hi, Beautiful Child, Tusk, Never Forget Mid Songs: That's All for Everyone, Brown Eyes, Walk a Thin Line Bad Songs:

Didn’t actually know any of these songs (expect I might have heard the title track before). It’s no rumours but I quite enjoyed it, it is Fleetwood Mac after all and even at their most dysfunctional they’re still amazingly good musicians.

Always have loved Fleetwood Mac, so this album was right up my street. Storms was my song of the album and fav first listen with Sara and Over & Over being my other highlights of the album

A product of needing to follow up on one of the biggest albums ever, while not being able to agree on anything, and also having access to a mountain of cocaine; Tusk sprawls, but only in 3 distinct directions. The three songwriters each submit a slate of songs that seem to have little influence from the rest of the band. Christine writes some delicate ballads, Lindsey writes some experimental stompers, and Stevie writes the hits. It's not exactly cohesive, and it's definitely a product of drug-fueled excess (no sober person has ever thought a double album was a good idea) but it still hits more than it misses. Thus is the strength of these songwriters even if Buckingham is starting to lose it.

Don’t think I’ve heard any songs from Tusk before (at least none that I remember) despite having heard basically the entirety of Rumours just out and about in the world. Yeah it’s not as good as Rumours (but what is?), but this was still a very good listen

Good album, I enjoyed. 7.1/10

The album was fine, but not their best as I preferred "Rumors".

Owned. Better than it's reputation

Probably could be a single album. Starts feeling a bit long and tedious at the end until tusk, which though is awesome. Sara too is a standout. Feels like there is soon much anger and tension with the lyrics, but they pull together to make great songs. Stevie Nicks writing is excellent. Quite a few of Buckinghams songs feel like they could have been polished to be gems, but he was just focused on getting stuff off his chest. Anything after rumours, was probably going to be a letdown, but this is pretty solid and I feel has aged well.

Great album, reeling you in with rhythm, melody and captivated singing. Some strong ballads, some more energetic song. Sisters of the Moon is phenomenal.

While Fleetwood Mac are clearly a legend, including their aldum "Tusk" on this list is debatable. Wikipedia says this was a more experimental album (which is not wrong) but my main impression when listening to it was inconsistence. Some of the songs follow very different approaches and not all of them suit Fleetwood Mac well. On the other hand, there are some great songs here, including "Sisters of the Moon" and large parts of disk two. All together, this record leaves me mith some nice ideas and mixed feelings - similar to the Beatles' White Album and thus rated accordingly.

Fave tracks: the ledge, what makes you think you’re the one, beautiful child, and never forget

Love but didn’t have time to listen to it all

no skips

Es como su white álbum and I Am here for it

This is a great album. Every single song is good

i like fleetwood mac as much as the next person. i only know a few of their songs and i always thought i should try listening to more of their stuff. there wasn't really anything i didnt expect - nothing really stood out to me, but nice album nonetheless

An above average alblum. But I can't give it a five if I like the Fleetwood Mac and Rumors alblums better. It sounds silly but the "hits" carry the alblum

Fleety Mac are considered pop rock legends for a reason, and I see why this is grouped together with their 2 preceeding albums as a golden trio. Nicks and Christie McVie have beautiful voices. Buckingham, while I'm not *too* hot on his singing voice, also joins the previous two to round out a very consistently strong singer-songwritiner trio. Fleetwood and John McVie provide a strong rhythm section, being the ever present but silent namesakes of the band. It's pretty rare for more than 3/4ths of a double LP to not feel like padding/filler, which is a big accomplishment. I wish the title track had been the closer over "Never Forget". 8.5/10

Not sure what I expected but this was really above and beyond it. There's a lot of folk but it manages to feel unique from track to track. Favourite track: Sisters of the Moon

Very good

I love FM, but I'll be the first to say that you probably don't need to hear this one before you die. But it's a fascinating record. Lindsay set out to do anything but replicate the previous two albums, which sold a collective billion records, give or take. The White Album is the usual reference but I don't think it's apt. Yes you have several songwriters throwing out a lot of different songs that don't flow together all that well. But there's little in the way of experimentation. It’s mainly Lindsay, Stevie, and Christine engaging in an exercise of how not to write like themselves. And it weirdly works. That is, if you already love those three as songwriters

Really good album. I was only familiar with the title track before hand but really enjoyed it, stand out track was Sarah. Very dense record, will need multiple listens

Banger album

Didn’t have as much crack in it as their first two albums as Rumours and their self-titled but still very good

"Tusk. In its entirety. With the pauses. As Lindsey Buckingham intended it to be heard." - Tony Harrison

Very good very nice

Nice listen. Great start, the middle is a bit bloated, but everything picks right up towards a very great end.

Wasn’t as taken by rumours as much as I expected but feel as though I’m preferring the start of this one much more. How the hell does an album cost $1 million to make?! And at that time too 🤯 Yeh, much prefer this rumours. Maybe more depth and experimentation. Pleasant listening with a few surprises along the way too. Feels more varied and accomplished somehow. Pleasantly surprised by this landing much better than I expected. A bit of a long one, but like what I’ve heard and felt a really nice variety of styles and compositions.

Men er svak for "That's All For Everyone".

Great stuff, if maybe a little dated in sound. Highlight tracks: The Ledge, Sara, Not that funny, Honey Hi, Beautiful Child & Tusk. Title track not long enough!

Not my fave from Mac but still good

With any other band this would be a 5 star album but I know Fleetwood Mac can do better

Not as good as “Rumours” but still very significant. Fav might be “Angel”

YAY Great album imo Over & Over - just floating and nodding, loving this Sara and Storms - I really love Stevie Nicks' voice alwaysss Sisters of the Moon - my sister and i are sisters of the moon actually !! Brown Eyes - after Gaga just performed her iconic song of the same eyes in Japan after forever !? feels spiritual.... Beautiful Child - beautiful song actually <33 Walk a Thin Line - oh wha oh wha ph whaaaa Tusk - such a unique song, like this The Ledge - another fun sound

i felt like the songs were pretty varied, they sounded cohesive but distinct, very easy to listen to i think ive been sleeping on fleetwood mac, i know the classics, but this album reminded me i shld rly dive in more standouts: the ledge tusk beautiful child i have a sister of the moon
