Reviews (page 5 of 13)

Destaco principalmente "Sisters of the moon". Gran disco. P.D.: Innegable la dulzura y lo cautivante de la voz de Stevie Nicks.

I'm a Fleetwood Mac fan but had somehow never listened to this album all the way through. It doesn't compare to Rumors, obviously, as that's a masterpiece but this album absolutely holds up to many other great rock albums of the time. Stevie Nicks' voice and passion comes through in "Beautiful Child" and "Sara" is one of their classics.

UCLA sucks! ✌️ This album cover does not suck. Somehow I've never seen it before, but I find it extremely compelling. Tiny diagonal lowercase text, dog, shoe. The cornerstones of any major work of art. A double album is asking a lot from me, but this is actually just the length of a single album nowadays, so it's not too bad. I like Fleetwood Mac for many non-musical reasons (in addition to the album cover): 1. So much band lore!! (enough to inspire that bad(?) Amazon show?) 2. Multiple singers, including cool ladies 3. Classic Lindsay Buckingham bit on SNL 4. USC marching band plays many of their hits (and are literally on this album) ✌️ But as a listening experience, maybe it's not quite all that? I'm not sure. Folky pop-rock, occasionally feels like a proto-magnetic fields with fewer instruments. I think I actually like the Lindsay songs the best. Highlights: 'The Ledge', 'What Makes You Think You're the One', 'Never Make Me Cry' (Shirley Simms-esque!), 'Tusk' (duh)

I really enjoyed this, maybe not it being over an hour long but overall really liked this. My favorite parts were by far the tracks where they just kinda spasmed out like "The Ledge" and "I Know I'm Not Wrong". The tracks were they sounded most Fleetwood Mac-like I didn't love, wish it was most spastic. They harmonize really well. Overall really liked.

Odd, massive.

This album needed an editor. So many great songs. but a number that should have been B-sides. 1:20 minutes long.

Day 96 - March 20th, 2024 An iconic sound from an iconic group! 4/5

Hearing this album for the first time finally after so many years i wanted to. At this point I probably knew almost everything I could avout this album in every way. Obviously I liked this one a lot and I think the one thing that make people talk bad about the album is what I really loved. I loved the way that after one slow beatiful tack of either Stevie or Christine there was that more creative and in my opinion amazing song written by Lindsey. That contradiction between all those songs makes this album very great for me. I really should relisten to rumours because I think I would like it a lot more now than I did two three years ago. Tusk yhe self-titled somg might be my favorite fleetwood mac song. Yeah amazing all around and a very unique record. About 8-9/10.

Hell yeah

How do you follow up an album like Rumours? This is a pretty good attempt. A little overlong but there are some gorgeous songs on this. Favorites: Over & Over, Think About Me, Sara, Sisters of the Moon, Angel Would I listen to it again: Yes

The Ledge on repeat after this

Oh man I've been waiting for Fleetwood Mac to come up and this is one of their greatest albums it's not their best but it's really good!

Maybe a few more listens, maybe an extra star because of Fleetwood Mac bias

I should've figured there would be more than one Fleetwood Mac album on here. "Rumours" hasn't come up yet, and I'm really happy it wasn't the first of there's to appear, because I assume it will be better than this. And that isn't to say this was bad. Not at all. I actually liked this for the most part. It's a great mix of styles and genres. The band ventures into country, folk, a little bit of glam rock (maybe...?), and more. There's upbeat, fun loving tracks and quieter, softer ballads. It's a good mix. This has a lot heart, and is a good listen if you just want something digestible and with variation. It's a solid album by a band that was trying to follow up one of the greatest albums of all time. That's a tall order, and I don't doubt they felt the pressure. Does it live up to "Rumours"? I'll tell you that when I get there. For now, it's a solid 4 star venture. Standout Tracks: Think About Me, Not That Funny, Sisters of the Moon, Angel, Brown Eyes, I Know I'm Not Wrong, Beautiful Child, Walk a Thin Line, Tusk

not their best work, but still has some good songs. Favorite track: Sara other picks: over and over, storms, sisters of the moon, tusk

Sisters of the Moon Tusk (very funky, fun drums) Beautiful Child

Really good music, but bloated - waaay too much of the same stuff, even if it was good stuff?

Top tier, a rerun through gave me a fun new perspective

I liked this album but it didn’t blow my mind or anything. I get why it was considered more experimental but it’s still very much fleetwood mac.

The monstrous success of "Rumours," coupled with the ongoing and escalating dysfunction within the band, made "Tusk" a seemingly inevitable follow-up album for Fleetwood Mac. From the initial track, "Over and Over" (McVie), followed by "The Ledge" (Buckingham), it becomes evident that this album exhibits a sonic divide, sounding more like a collection of disjointed songs by individuals, rather than a group effort. Or perhaps as three solo albums amalgamated into a double album. Buckingham's contributions are more experimental, at times reminiscent of early Talking Heads in tracks like "What Makes You Think You're The One" and "Not That Funny." Nicks continues to delve into her mystical "Rhiannon" vibe from "Rumours," while McVie serves as a bridge between the two. It is fitting that McVie both opens and closes the album, seemingly attempting to contain the all the dysfunction in between My favourite tracks include "Storms," "Sleepless Child," "Walk A Thin Line," "Sara," "The Ledge," and "Never Make Me Cry." Although "Tusk" was initially seen by many as a failure both commercially and critically, time has proven to be quite favorable to this album. It is characterized by its boldness, exploration, strong pop sensibilities, and exceptional vocals, with individual tracks far eclipsing the album as a whole. That being said, I still think I would have enjoyed the music more as three fully developed solo albums. (Not quite a 4 star, but definitely better than a 3 star.)

Always a fan of Fleetwood Mac. Probably not their best album but still a great listen

such an underrated and weird FM album! sara is one of stevie’s all time best, and tusk is maybe my Mac song period

This sounds nowhere near the hyper-polished rock of Rumours, maybe deliberately so. Often It can sound like a collection of good b-sides, the Buckingham numbers especially. I have a new found admiration for Christine McVie after this album and Rumours; and some of her efforts here are really great - none more than 'Over and Over'. It's certainly an interesting album, and trying to view it in isolation (without the shadow of Rumours) I can't say there's a bad track here, even if some are formulaic. It doesn't have a commercially killer track - but has some gems nevertheless.

Enjoyed the album, not my favorite Fleetwood Mac album, but one I’ll visit again.

All the way through disc one I'm always thinking this is such a great record because I forget how much it falls away on disc two which mostly feels like lesser versions of the songs on disc one, the title track aside. I could have gone a much longer version of Tusk, it always feels like they fade it to soon because they're a bit bashful of having something so odd on the album. A bit like with Rhiannon I wish they they could capture their live sound a bit more on Sisters of the Moon. It's still fantastic but just has a bit of its snarl smoothed over. Disc one still makes the whole thing.

This one was Not That Funny but I would listen to it Over & Over.

7.5/10

Don't know why I gave this a 3. Easily a 4 because Sara, now one of my favorite Fleetwood Mac songs, is on it. Very beautiful and I liked the ledge or whatever too.

An eclectic collection of songs. Doesn't touch rumours but still interesting. To me, no stand out songs but still good

It is a good album, which I already own. Not the best Fleetwood mac album, but still a great collection of the familiar Fleetwood mac sound

Might be my new favorite Fleetwood album

Pretty good! This album suffered because it came after Rumors. Its really good but just doesn't even come close....not many if any albums do.

Love Fleetwood Mac. Good vibes throughout and a nice variety

listened to Rumors for the first time not too long ago. this doesn’t quite match how ridiculously perfect that one was, but its length and the jumping between songs written by different band members add a new texture to this one. the Lindsay campfire songs are all bangers, and Stevie Nicks just completely takes over every time one of her songs arrive, shoutout Sisters of the Moon. Good starter album!

Bawi i wzrusza, do tańca i do różańca. A najbardziej do słuchania w łóżku ze słuchawkami na uszach! 8.5/10 równane tym razem, niestety w dół.

Fleetwood's White album. proves they (at least the 70s lineup) can do more than just soft rock and pop

very enjoyable

Great first listen, definitely one i need to come back to appreciate more. I think there's a lot of depth here

A pretty long album but, unlike "Blood Sugar Sex Magik", there's a way stricter quality control here and the songs are generally pleasant and nice and breezy and good to listen to, with enough subtle variations in the sounds to keep you interested. Very good!

I really like this! Will be listened to more fleeteood Mac! Guess it’s about time :)

This is what cocaine sounds like.

great. a long one. to me fleetwood mac is up there on long car rides music w parents for sure. over n over is a sweet one tho, rlly showcases her voice i like how it builds n gets more electricky n more anxious for the outro. okay this ones fun YOU CAN LOVE ME BABY BUT YOU CANT WALK OUT. someone ought to tell u what its really all about like the audience telling u that ur just singing abt fucking and or breaking up w each other? thats fleetwood macs thing right. SPROING SPROING BOUNCY GUITAR. okay ive heard think about me lol i know this one this always kinda gets me....if theyre the one u love think abt them!! cmon once in a while!! dont be mean!! oh man i also dont know why i have to (feel compelled to) work + why i cant (psychologically unable to) play....dont know why i have to go n cant stay kinda want to be alone AND be amazed. am i just going to be too sad listening to this fucking album. its 1 of those fucking days huh. oh rlly lovely intro to sara on the piano(??). shit this ones gonna be heavy. DROWNING IN THE SEA OF LOVE...WHERE EVERYBODY WOULD LOVE TO DROWN. okay so like...did the two ladies from fleetwood mac ever try firing the two dudes? cuz in sara stevie nicks is extremely emotionally vulnerable + then whatsisface over here (the man w the shouty voice) comes in + makes the vibe kind of passive aggressive + confrontational when considered next to/responding to the prev song?? bro shes trying to use i-centered language here. storms is nice but couldve used some editing down--love the sadness on the strings/melody at the end of verse phrases tho. and the chorus! but like u shoulda ended after "i have always been a storm" like that just feels like a more natural ending point (and then it keeps going for 90s). AND SEE NOW THATS ALL FOR EVERYONE COMES ACROSS ALL LIKE...BLAME SHIFTING?? idk his voice is annoying AND THEN NOT THAT FUNNY IS LIKE. BRO UR MAKING THE VIBE WEIRD. who is this guy w the shouty obnoxious voice. which is he i dont like him. love the darker serious intro to sisters of the moon FUCK I HIT DID NOT LISTEN AND NOT SAVE I FORGOT ITS THE NEXT DAY!! ENABLING EDITING WILL KEEP THE REST OF MY NOTES QUICK. I LISTENED 2 IT ALL YESTERDAY I PROMISE I JUST WAS COOKING SO MY HANDS WERE TOO BUSY FOR NOTES. anyway sisters of the moon fucks. i love the bass(?) in angel esp the intro + stevies voice is wonderful! the lyrics arw kinda ehh sure whatever but she just has a way of embueing emotion into anything she sings n making me think okay i dont get exactly what stevie nicks is singing abt but its meaningful 2 her n i respect that. SO I CLOSE MY EYES SOFTLY TIL I BECOME THAT PART OF THE WIND THAT WE AAALL LONG FOR SOMETIIIIMESS...YEAAAH....TO THOSE THAT I LOVE LIKE A GHOST THRU A FOG [catbop emoji]. and then thats enough for me is like "this is a fun song it can maybe stay but after stevie nicks was singing abt how she like just has to put up walls away from her ex bc it was good when it was good but it ultimately was hurting her n she needs 2 remind herself of that, this one makes it sound like ur being all Well Why Cant U Enjoy It For What It Is And Dont Be Too Demanding. u see that right." also his voice sounds nice enough on the verses but the YEAH YEAH YEAH shouty shit he always does is REALLY fucking grating. idk which of them were fucking which so i dont know if these actually Are targeted but they Sound that way + im frankly rooting for an alternate history where stevie + [christine??] fire (romantically, fiscally) the guys + realize all this time they only really loved each other or something. good gravy. man a lot of the back half needs trimming down (physical grafitti syndrome) but whatshername, christine [lastname of one of the annoying guys] ALSO has such a heavenly voice....it has a diff texture from stevies so its so nice to hear them play off each other in same or sequential tracks. but yeah this one couldve been edited relative to the not even that long length but the number of ideas on it but this is the once an album song u could fuck to pass. also the guitar is lovely. maybe the man who plays the guitar can stay IF he sticks to guitar ONLY + does what stevie/christine say + also is dumped. also side note its so lovely to hear a song romanticizing brown eyes for once : ) ! NEVER MAKE ME CRY IS GOING 2 MAKE ME CRY WHENEVER IT COMES ON. GIRL HE DOESNT DESERVE U. BUT NOW HERE COMES MR JACKOFF SINGING ABT I KNOW IM NOT WRONG. LIKE ITS KIND OF A BOP BUT READ THE ROOOOMM. SHUT UP. YOUR VOICE IS ANNOYING TOO. wait which of them is the guy from blues breakers who sucks >__> didnt u all say he recurred here?? girl this physical grafitti syndrome is out of hand. like honey hi is fine enough its pretty (a man is not singing it) but u gotta like....edit the big tracks + pick ur complimentary tracks judiciously. the harmonies are so darling tho. beautiful child the rare lady singing song i think shouldve just been cut like oh brother when the fuck will this be over. walk a thin line? between getting fired + getting this track skipped? BUT THEN THEYVE JUST BURIED TUSK AT THE END, a feral seething shout?? where the fuck was this earlier. U can reallyyyt hear this is abt cheating n being cheated on lmfao. the way it builds THE TRUMPETS, yelling TUSK!! the shouty guys voice finally works!! and the drums!! and then never forget is back to end of the album mid. like its not even that bad--tho lol could we ever forget tonight well not after the screaming argument u just had on the last track buddy!!--but ultimately this has the keys to be a 5 star album but is merely 4 stars bc a) they didnt cut enough of it down, b) they didnt cut enough of THE GUY SINGING SPECIFICALLY. like when the list of standout tracks: over + over, think about me, sara, sisters of the moon, brown eyes, never make me cry, tusk <-- do u see what the trend is here?? oh my god make that mediocre dude shut up while u edit his self indulgent whinging off the album. i wouldnt buy this album on a record bc then id scratch it moving the needle to skip tracks but like again this is a 4 could be a 5. except for greatest flaw not everybody is pulling their weight evenly!!

I had never listened to all of Tusk before. I knew a few of the songs individually but had never heard the album in full. I was very curious to hear it all and view it from a “post-success” standpoint. I am always interested in how a band changes or embraces their sound that brought them into the limelight on the previous record. While their self-titled album eventually went to #1, they had already recorded all of Rumours before that happened, so there was no time to embrace or rebel against the success at that point. By the time Tusk came around, they had been at the top of the charts for quite awhile. Rather than pulling a rebellion, they leaned in and leaned in hard. I was honestly expecting more of a departure from the sound of Rumours, but so many songs on Tusk felt like they could have been interchangeable with Rumours tracks. I’m wondering if the “commercial failure” of Tusk was that folks were expecting something different, because quite frankly, these songs still sound fantastic, even if they failed to chart at the level of some of their predecessors. Lindsey, Stevie, and Christine all contributing songs equally to the album is exactly what I wanted to hear and it’s what I got. God, I love the bastardized American version of Fleetwood Mac so much even just for their sound without any of the messy drama behind the scenes. What a great band.

I've never listened to Fleetwood Mac before. Obviously I've HEARD them around - Albatross, The Grand Prix Theme Tune, the Landslide cover by the Smashing Pumpkins - but this is the first time I've chosen to put something of their on. Knowing very little about them, I read the Wikipedia article about this album and how they were all musical geniuses and it was like three different solo albums in one and they were trying to break away from Rumours and incorporate post-punk sounds and the critics said this album was too experimental. And then I listened to the album... And it was very nice. Not wishing to damn it with faint praise, but it was very nice. I might play it again sometime in the future. That's all I have to say.

Love Fleetwood Mac

I'm a big Fleetwood Mac fan but somehow have never listened to this album in its totality. "The Ledge" reminds me that they were once a blues band. Lindsay Buckingham is a jerk on "What Makes You Think I'm The One" but what's new? I like the bouncy piano on it though. Stevie follows up with what feels like the person responding to Lindsay on "Storms" and she sounds uniquely sad, my favorite of the album so far. Super impressed by the end of "Honey Hi" where they're all harmonizing while Buckingham plays some great guitar. I think that "Beautiful Child" has the most emotional songwriting of the album. As I always joke I'm a sucker for good horns and on more experimental track "Tusk" has some great horns and acoustic guitar. Ending the album out is "Forget Tonight" and I think that it actually features Christine McVie's best singing. Other than "Songbird" it actually might be my favorite more Christine McVie heavy Fleetwood songs. Overall, great album with only one bad song out of 20...lol. Added a few of them to my playlist I'm making with this project.

fleetwood mac innit

Feels like a hazy morning with coffee. Vocals are lush which makes Tusk a pretty pleasant listen. A great album but not great as singles.

Would give 3.5 stars but generally a big FM fan. Struggled through first half of album but felt like it really picked up starting with sisters of the moon

Mix of emotional stevie nicks songs and sort of silly unfinished studio sessions, seemed too long but enough good songs in there without many stand outs

wish it was a bit shorter but i still love it

It’s not Rumours but what is?? Still a good experimental album

Great album

Coming after the blockbuster success of 1977's Rumours, Tusk is a very weird yet highly interesting and experimental pop/rock album.

Had this album for ages but never really listened to it properly. Of course after the almost perfection of Rumours they were always going to struggle but there is some great stuff on here as well as a lot of nonsense.

Beautiful album. Easy listen. Love her voice. The bass sounds really good. Not as good as Rumours, but still great.

Good but way too long - and while it’s never bad it’s kind of a flat journey - it doesn’t rise and fall too often so unless you really pay attention it kind of feels monotonous. What’s for sure - this isn’t an album you learn to love in a day but I’m intrigued enough to try at another time.

I never listened to this period Fleetwood Mac. I know Rumors obviously, and recently got into the Peter Green years which are great. This is post Rumors so I never got to listen to it. Sara is a great song. Also Storms. Stevie’s vocal performance here is just amazing. Gritty and honest. The album is much sparser than Rumors, took me a while to get used to that but I think it’s great in its own way. On "that’s all for everyone we get" an interesting vocal performance by Lindsay with a very compelling arrangement. This is very cool. Sisters of the moon another great song. WOW. Love the guitar on this one. Brown Eyes is another great song. Wikipedia tells me Peter Green did guitars here. This album is every bit as good as Rumors if not better, even though it’s much less accessible. I decided since this list is supposed to have all great albums I need to grade on a curve. So three start means "I get why it's on the list", five stars should be reserved to the best of the best, stuff that's a no brainer for a top 50 or top 100 list. One star is stuff that doesn't belong on the 1001 list. So according to that I'd put this as four stars. It's a great album, don't know if it's in my personal top 50-100 but it's really great.

Blues británico luego pop rock

Listened to it in the Clapham south basement flat with mads. Was quite the vibe to start this journey off with.

Adored the upbeat sections of the album but it does get a little boring at times. Still a wonderful experience overall.

Tusk the song is so danceable

First listen. Enjoyed this one quite a bit.

I was kind of dreading this because its a double album, but it turned out quite nice. Doesn't seem to have an overarching theme but there are a lot of good classic rock and pop tracks on here. Every song feels like it could have been a hit single, Tusk the track is one of the weirder tracks in that regard.

YAYY TUSK!! what makes you think you're the one!! sisters of the moon!!

As you'd expect from a 20 track album, it's a bit of a mixed bag, but most songs are on the good side. A couple were a little goofy, but nothing that really turned me off. It's Fleetwood Mac, the songwriting and performances are bound to be great. I think i've just spoiled myself with so many listens of Rumours.

next time tell the producer that an album can actually cut out the filler songs

Side three was my favorite, and all of Stevie Nicks's songs were clearly the best tracks.

Always great

Cool album cover. Makes it look like this is a punk or new wave album and I guess for Fleetwood Mac it is. Nice drums on this one.

Favorite tracks: Save Me A Place, Sara, What Makes You Think You're The One, Storms, Not That Funny, Angel, Tusk, Never Forget I love the risks they took on this, especially the Buckingham songs, which feel very wild and innovative and rockin'. (My toxic thought while listening to this: "Oh, okay, I can see why Stevie loved him.") I debated five stars, but ultimately I think there are a few songs that are just "good" instead of "great." So, 4.5 stars.

Otros discos del 79, el año del "Disco sucks" : Unknown Pleasures de Joy Division, The Police-Reggatta De Blanc, THE CLASH - London calling, VAN MORRISON - Into the music, NEIL YOUNG & CRAZY HORSE - Rust never sleeps y Live Rust, AC/DC - Highway to hell, PAUL COLLINS BEAT - The Beat, THE CURE - Three imaginary boys, The Undertones- The Undertones, THE B-52'S - The B-52's, GRAHAM PARKER - Squeezing out sparks, THE KNACK - Get the knack, The wall de Pink Floyd, Armed Forces de Elvis Costello & The Attractions, We Are Family de Sister Sledge, Look Sharp! de Joe Jackson, Spirits Having Flown de Bee Gees, Breakfast in America de Supertramp, Y de The Pop Group, Voulez-Vous de ABBA , Bad Girls de Donna Summer, Lodger de David Bowie, Discovery Electric Light Orchestra, Exposed y Platinum de Mike Oldfield, Fear of Music Talking Heads, Off the Wall de Michael Jackson, Quadrophenia deThe Who, Reggatta de Blanc de The Police, Prince de Prince, Damn the Torpedoes de Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers , One Step Beyond... de Madness, The Specials de The Specials, Journey Through "The Secret Life of Plants\" de Stevie Wonder, Metal Box de Public Image Ltd., Risque de Chic, Real to Real Cacophony y Life in a day de Simple Minds

There are several songs I like here, but there are also a few that I don't. Overall 4 stars or B for me.

It’s very good but would have been better if they trimmed it down. Too much filler.

Not as good as Rumours but still damn good.

Not sure what Buckingham is doing half the time, but McVie and Nicks are killing it

Decent

How can you improve on Runours? You can’t. But very good effort from the Mac’s before the classic lineup broke up properly.

In the ears of this listener, when you have a perfect record anything else, however good, can never top the best.

Most expensive rock album, prefer rumours

This is all over the place but when it's good, it's good

They should have just made "Rumours II". There, I said that. Because it's still that same band with those same three singers, the music from Rumours shines through, often, but in their goal to not make Rumours, it's often a lesser version after all? The self-indulgence of it being a double album isn't helping. Nor is the pandering to post punk mannerisms like the vocals on "Not That Funny" or whatever that instrument on "I Know I'm Not Wrong" is. There absolutely are songs that would create a decent album in here, even as a progression from their previous one (don't want to say "RUMOURS!" again), but this here collection of 20 tracks ain't that. [...] On the other hand, the "[...]" above indicates some more time spent. I still think it's a mess, but "Tusk" doesn't not work, somehow. Also, I saved four songs I think I'll be glad to hear again when Shuffle picks them. Maybe the whole thing is better than I thought.

I was talking to my dad about Fleetwood Mac the other day, about how you suddenly just get them. I think I'm getting there? This album drags on a bit, but there are some really good tunes. I think the most impressive thing is their ability to steal from lots of different genres and merge them into something distinctive.

P good

Pretty good, not as good as rumours, but might listen to it more and form a better opinion, 7.5/10.

Overblown, overegged, totally self indulgent, too much, too long, but in a *good* way. In a really good way in fact.

A bit too long but you can't go wrong with fleetwood mac

I'm rounding this one up, because it's really more like a 3.5 instead of a 4. A lot of the songs feel like they were ALMOST good songs (except two of them were like, REALLY bad). They just couldn't quite get there, quite push them to the heights of Dreams or something like that.

Really fun. bit mellow for my taste but really enjoyable

It runs a little too long and lags a bit in the latter half but it's pretty solid otherwise

A great solid record by Fleetwood Mac.

It is a shame this came directly after Rumours as it is a decent record. A lot more sparse than what I had expected, although still with the same layered sound. Sara, What Makes You Think You're the One, and Storms are the strongest songs. Tusk is alright too, of course, but totally against the run of play, and is mainly notable for the brass section. I read this was a bit more experimental to placate Lindsay Buckingham, but his version of experimental is plodding.

This feels like the big, ugly, complicated older brother of Rumours. It's not as immediately accessible or timelessly catchy but it goes to some fascinating places and tries some really interesting things. There are flashes of real beauty and I listened to it repeatedly through the day, having never given it a chance before. There's somehow both the feeling of dense overproduction and too many ideas, while also seeming to be stripped back to its bare parts. I actually really enjoyed it and glad I've given it the time of day. There's loads to like here and it requires patience. While the gold is buried in a lot of 'stuff', it's largely good stuff that is worth wading through. A couple of minor things that bothered me though are a) it's too slow for too long. Some lovely songwriting but the tempo hovers at a very pedestrian level. And b) why oh why must you fade out so much?! A good song deserves an ending. I imagine some of this was based on time constraints, but surely that's a question of deciding what to take out of the song, or which songs to cut, not just turning the volume down slowly every time you pass the 4 minute mark.

Having never listened to a full Fleetwood Mac album before, this was a more than pleasant experience. While the Nicks / McVie tracks excel in "radio-pop", Buckingham is kinda brave for putting those silly little quirky songs of his in the middle. I liked the whole thing, but at least 10 songs stand out on their own so you can still cut some of the filler and enjoy it as a whole album. Surprised of the lack of JoJo-fans here. But a welcome one. 8/10.

10/21/24. Interesting album! Not up there with Rumors or Self-Titled, but still a very good album and engaging with the changes in lead vocals and sounds.

Hell yeah brother

i liked it

It's *vibey*. Moreso than other Fleetwood Mac albums, I would say. The album doesn't have any of their hits that I immediately recognize, but it still has a lot of really great hits. Besides the end of the album, it's a very high floor album with a lower ceiling. The last couple of songs start falling off a bit for me, held up only by their excellent musicianship and vocals. It doesn't blow me out of the water, but I'll be damned if it isn't a great album. Will definitely save it for another re-listen later. Favorite Song(s): Over & Over, Save Me a Place, That's All for Everyone, Sisters of the Moon

I enjoyed that album, not my favorite, but I enjoyed it

I like

Very good album, some classics in there. Lindsay Buckingham starring as always. Highlights; Sara Sisters of the Moon Tusk

This is the sound you get when you think of 70's rock. I know it's kind of like if Fleetwood Mac had tried to do 'Rumours 2' but it doesn't quite get there. Brilliant album.

I love me some Fleetwood Mac. I am not a super fan, but this is definitely an album that I would have playing in the background while I clean house, do homework, work, chill with friends/family, etc.

Not my favorite album of theirs. I like Rumors more. But this is still a good listen. Tha drums get a little repetitive to me. But overall cool

Man, Fleetwood Mac are good. Tusk is a bit bloated and unfocused compared to Rumours, but it’s kinda unfair to compare.

Not all songs are equally good, but this album does show the greatness of Fleetwood Mac!

Fleetwood Mac as a post punk band isn't something I ever knew existed. Well ok, they're not quite post punk here despite Lindsey Buckingham citing the Talking Heads influence. But it's certainly more experimental than 'Rumours'. It's the frequent question for successful bands, how do you follow up your masterpiece? You typically either try to recreate the same success (to the excitement of record label execs) or you do something totally different. Either way is a gamble but I have a real soft spot for the ones who risk a totally new direction and 'Tusk' may be the thing that makes me a fan (though I already respected them as musicians). It's a double album which is an added challenge and really this one has required multiple listens to fully absorb it all. Many tracks do seem to stop abruptly which will put some listeners off. Comparisons with demo collections are common. I can't quite give it a 5, though I'm tempted to. Despite this, 'Tusk' is an excellent record and really shows what else they were capable of.

Pretty nice, sounds surprisingly modern. Needs a relisten though, a lot of the songs kind of blended together.

Every time I revisit Tusk I find myself repeating the same thing, “This album sounds so fucking good.” The mix on this album just blows me away. I always hear about how engineers used to tune studios to Dark Side of The Moon or Aja, I bet this album has been on that list at some point too. It doesn’t hurt that these are some incredible songs too. This album gives me more appreciation for Lindsey Buckinghams vocals. As for most people, Stevie Nicks is my favorite singer of the band but, yet it’s easy to hear how Lindsey paved the way for some great singers. Bands like Modest Mouse, Yeasayer and Animal Collective have benefited from his stylings. This album feels a bit overstuffed and has a couple weaker songs but overall I still enjoy this one.

I only have the Greatest Hits and Rumours, but have been meaning to follow up my interest in Fleetwood Mac with Tusk, so this is perfect. Though each member brings their own talents to the band, Stevie Nicks' contributions are always my favorite. Mostly a slow to mid-tempo album, Tusk is easy listening, but I don't feel we get close to the quality we have come to expect from Fleetwood Mac until the heartbreaking "Sara" comes on. "What Makes You Think You're The One" seems to be inspired by Bowie's chorus of "Changes" in instrumentation, phrasing, and chord structure of its verses. The harmonies were always a highlight of having three singers in the band, but I don't believe I've heard them more on display than on "That's All For Everyone." "Not That Funny" is not that good and trying too hard; it could have been left off the album. Lindsey Buckingham's best work on this album is "That's Enough For Me" which finally cranks the album tempo up to a fast skiffle, a late 12 tracks in. Though a consistently slower album, it does have this groove to it. I can see getting more out of it in future listenings but don't expect to ever fall in love with it. The title song took to some experimentation, and it would be nice if the album took a less safe approach in general, but at least the smooth ride is a nice one. As always, the musicianship and vocals are top-notch.

Such a vivid audible landscape, I felt like I was in the desert, rain wind and homes all at once

Tusk is an album I've heard of but never listened to. I only knew one or two tracks on here, including one I only knew because of a Tame Impala cover-- Thats All for Everyone which was one of my faves. Nice display of all the various singers in this band and some strange and interesting styles. My biggest complaint: needs more Stevie! Would listen again 3.9/5 Listening nots: The Ledge - ok I've heard this one Really interesting tracks on here Wait "that's all for everyone" is them?? this is great. Tame Impala has a cover I had no idea was a cover. gosh Beautiful Child is.. beautiful. devastating. there really should be way more Stevie on this album!!! No singles at all on this album, just 20 easy listening tracks showing off all the various band members. though sadly I've never been a fan of Christine songs.. and there's not enough Stevie on here.

Awesome percussion, so many unique things going on, fantastic album with emotional lyrics and great songs. Not quite a 5 because some of the songs are a little forgetable

On the first listen, I figured three stars would be generous for this album. But just to be sure, I spent the weekend with it in my headphones, and surprise to say, it did grow on me, so despite not being a big Fleetwood Mac fan, I'm going to give it four.

Stevie Nicks is the best part of this record. But overall, I enjoyed it.

Maybe not quite the quality of Rumors but still a very good album. Highlights are Over & Over, Beautiful Child, and Tusk

While this record does not quite reach the zenith that "Rumors" does in terms of flawlessness, I still found myself quite enjoying most of this album. The album is lengthy enough that there's a sound somewhere on it for almost anyone, but in my opinion they sacrificed quality over quantity because of that. Again, still grade-A work, but knowing Fleetwood Mac is capable of more, it's not their best. Notable Tracks: - Over & Over - Think About Me - Sara - Sisters of the Moon - awesome build-up and amazing guitar solo - Tusk - insane drum part 8/10

Great album, although sometimes it does feel like a high quality demo. Some of the songs could've been left as b-sides. Overall performance and sleeve" great

I liked this way more than expected. Some songs were really surprising. This is going on my regular playlist

Listened to this for the first time years ago and I remember not liking it much. Listening again, I thought it was much better than I remembered and is a really solid album. Not as good as Rumours but not many albums are. Fav tracks: Not That Funny, The Ledge, Tusk

This album has some phenomenal songs and seems like the kind of album that grows and grows on you over each listen. It was very eclectic, experimenting with different styles that leaned from glam to country to pop, but it all felt authentic and cohesive.

Bonkers. So camp and I really loved some of the songs. Cocaine and label pressure can really make weird music come out of a band. Loved it.

Both fortunately and unfortunately for Fleetwood Mac, all of their albums are compared to their Rumours masterpiece. Try as I might to hold Tusk on its own legs, I can't help myself. I'm happy to report that even though Tusk isn't an album revealing two iconic breakups, it holds a lot of emotions inside. Songs like "Storms" or "Over & Over" or "Never Forget" have so much vulnerability on display. Fleetwood Mac did not come to play. Stevie Nicks is a gem, and her vocals and songwriting are amazing on this album. Christine McVie is too often overlooked in favor of Nicks, which is a shame because there's something special about her songs. Her voice is lovely but without overpowering the listener. Her lyrics are beautiful and emotional. I can't say enough wonderful things about her songs! Tusk's biggest sin is probably its length. I wouldn't characterize any songs as bad or undeserving of its place, but the truth is double albums tend to go on for too long. But I've said this before about other double albums--Fleetwood Mac is far from the only sinner. Regardless of the length, Tusk remains an easy, breezy listen. So my complaining doesn't stand for much. Also, Lindsey Buckingham's whining on "Not That Funny"? Bruh, get over your ex because you sound pathetic complaining about her popularity. 4.5, knocked down because of Buckingham.

I couldn't remember if I had ever heard the Tusk album in full before or not. At first, I wasn't sure how it could be that I either hadn't and/or didn't remember having done it. After listening, it all makes more sense. This album is pretty eclectic and while I can appreciate what is here, it is incredibly lacking on cohesion. This is very reflective of the rocky state of the group at the time. Personally, my favorite track on the album is "Sisters of the Moon"; it's maybe one of the more Rumours-reminiscent tracks on the album, but still forward-thinking. I would not have been mad if the entire album was more like this song. In general, out of all the competing "vibes" on this album from Lindsey, Christine, and Stevie, I think I dig Stevie's vibe the most. This album is enjoyable to me, but I do have to wonder if it would be as well regarded if it had been released in more of a vacuum -- in other words, if it had not been the follow-up to one of the greatest albums of all time, Rumours. All that said, I still generally enjoy this album quite a bit, and thus feel comfortable giving it a 4 without further scrutiny.

Musicalmente me mueve buco, esta bien perro este album pero no tiene certified classics como Rumours. strong 7/10.

Wow wow wow. I’ll be honest, I knew this album would be good but I never expected to like it as much as I did. The talent that is fleetwood Mac never goes unappreciated by me. Would so have this in a playlist

A group I know and am familiar with their music.

It's not a bad album but, I got Rumours 3 weeks ago and this does not even compare.

Is this album too long? And I have to wait so long to hear “Tusk”? Hm. I think I like “Rumors” more but I do like this! “That’s Enough for Me” is fun. “Tusk” takes the cake though it’s just so cool.

Some really great songs on this album, but also some rambling nonsense. Overall, I'd listen again, but it's not an everyday listening album.

decent

Not nearly as bad as everyont makes fun of...

Not as good as ‘Rumors’ but still a good listen. I enjoyed ‘Sara’.

stevie nicks starts singing and my eyes turn into hearts

Slow parts and it’s no rumors but it’s still Fleetwood Mac.

I was an easy listen. Not my go to, but reminded me of relaxing poolside back at my childhood home

Not as strong as Rumors but definitely solid. Mostly the same type of song (not much variety), very mellow.

Rating: 8.5/10 This is the equivalent of the Beatle's White Album in terms of experimentation and diversity of sound from the band. A lot of great songs and very fun to listen to, although a bit too long. Favorite song: Think About Me. Least favorite song: Honey Hi.

Class album, read somewhere that it gets loads of shite but I can’t see why

Some really good songs throughout

Wow. Though it does not reach the level of FM's Opus, this album sure was a treat to listen to several times today! And I will play it several more times in the coming weeks. A solid 4**** bordering on 5...

A good double album that would have made it a great single album, so basically Fleetwood Mac’s White Album (complete with its own “Revolution 9”). “Sara” is as good as anything on Rumours, and should have been a hit.

Très good

Fleetwood Mac doesn’t dissappoint

Don't say dat chu luv me!

Great. Not as immediate as its predecessor Rumours but perhaps has more longevity

Should probably listen to Fleetwood Mac more cause listening to this album in full made me realise that they’re actually pretty good

I liked the Stevie Nicks-led songs the most. Her voice is both ethereal and soulful.

Fleetwood Mac has a classic sound, but this album feels like a step down from the highs of Rumors.

Wow, I'd never listened to this completely and in one sitting. What a beautiful and lovely album. Lots of soft feelings and story telling and harmonizing.

never liked fleetwood mac much but this was great. im not sure what exactly was so different about this album that i liked more than rumours but this is the kind of stuff i use this site for. 8/10

Always a going to be a hard task to follow Rumours. This is a great attempt at such a different album, one that deserves to be listened to, it’s just little all over the place for my liking, on top of the fact I’m not a fan of double albums.

I confess my sin of only ever having listened to Rumours (and I'll gladly add to the 5 star ratings when I get to it). I've been excited to listen to more FM, and already listened to Tusk twice. I love that they went in a different direction, though I understand not everyone did. Sure, maybe a few tracks could have been cut. But there's a variety of great songs to choose from, and none that would have me aggressively reaching for the skip button. My favorites right now are Sara, Storms, Sisters of the Moon, & Think About Me.

Odd, sprawling album that does a bit of everything. The quality of the song writing and performances elevates this to a quality that many other bands couldn't achieve.

This is probably a hot or lukewarm take but I always thought this album was overrated. I know the intent was to make a record that was fundamentally different than Rumours, and I think they succeeded in doing that, but when I want Fleetwood Mac I really want that Rumours sound. Tusk does however have a lot of the staples of what make up their sound in a "piece by piece" manner; it has the super dry drums, the apparition-like Stevie vocals that are contrasted by the in-your-face Lindsey vocals, the incredibly clean compositions that take twists and turns and yet always seem grounded. All of these elements are done well and you can tell this album had a ton of effort put into it. It just feels like a follow-up that falls short in comparison. It's a high 3 for me, like a 3.8, enough to come up to a 4.

Fleetwood Mac perhaps the best pop band ever. Walk a Thin Line my fave

The downside of having made a legendary album like Rumours is that it makes all the other albums 'worse'. Listening to this album makes me go "Hmhm, mkay, cool, but Rumours was better" Nevertheless, great album. Tusk is an absolute banger. I can't explain why, but it slaps so fucking hard. 3.7*

Lots of songs I never heard. Pretty good

Ratings: 5: I will happily play this album anytime 4: I may occasionally play this album of my own free will 3: I will happily listen to this if someone plays it in the background 2: I will tolerate this if it is playing in the background 1: I will leave the room if someone plays this in the background First listen, a bit of a mess. Second listen, hmmm...kind of like some of the songs. Third listen, this is starting to work for me.

I think I liked this better than rumours? It's a bit too long and cumbersome, but the songs are generally more interesting to me. I'm generally one that likes the music more than the lyrics though, so I think that has something to do with it.

great album

really good album! Love some of the harmonies and great rhythms.

I’m kicking myself for not listening to this on vinyl when I still lived with my parents.

Still great album

Can definitely hear that modest mouse got some influence from this album. Good one

"Tusk" is too long but I completed it. Most of the songs are good. I would've given it a 5 if it was just 10 of the best songs. I believe that "Rumours" is better, judging by "Go Your Own Way". This is the longest album I've reviewed. (I think) 4 stars for "Tusk"

Went through a bit of a roller coaster listening to this. Settled on this: Rumours is the better album, it’s a concise and perfect 70s pop rock record. But this one is surely more cool and interesting. Too long, not all good, but it covers a lot of ground that a guy might not expect if he was expecting another Rumours. The White Album isn’t the best Beatles album, but it is my favourite. This may also be true of Tusk.

Not as good as Rumors, but still really good.

Already own it on vinyl, it's great. Not Rumours 2.0, way more unfocused, sprawling and eclectic but totally worth the time. Scungy proto-punk, wistful folk tunes, glam boogie rockers and the odd, epic marching band fanfare of the title track all collide together into a really interesting and underrated classic.

Steel Ball Run

Beautiful Child is one of the best songs ever made. Its a very very good album however its got too many songs, while all good songs if it was cut down to like the top 10 songs it would have 9/10 and 10/10 potential

"Tusk" is the 12th studio album by British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac and a double album at that. It was purposely a more experimental album than their previous album "Rumours" with more sparse songwriting arrangements and influenced by the post-punk movement. It cost $1.4 million making it the most expensive rock album recorded to date. Based on the success of "Rumours," it was a disappointment to their record label although it did hit #1 in the UK and #4 in the US. It was well received critically. The album begins with Christine McVie's "Over & Over." Piano, drums and a slide guitar giving this a country vibe. It's a nice soft song describing a relationship where the woman loves her man but he does not love her. Acoustic guitar, piano, the drums and bass kick in and we're off with the lovely "Sara." Stevie Nicks wrote this song on the piano with the original version clocking in at 16 minutes. She gives one of her best and haunting vocal deliveries as she describes her relationship with her friend who was having a relationship with her ex, Mick Fleetwood. "Not That Funny" was the third single in which Lindsey Buckingham supposedly sang while in a push-up position. It's a bouncey song with the piano and percussion. A nice Buckingham guitar solo. Nick's "Sisters of the Moon" is a great hidden track. A harder-edged guitar layered with an acoustic guitar. Nicks and Buckingham are great on the vocals. A searing guitar solo. It's about Nicks' deteriorating health on the "Rumours'" tour. "That's Enough for Me" goes hard and fast with Buckingham playing all the instruments. He described it as rockabilly on acid. A song about his relationship with Nicks and one of the more unique Fleetwood Mac's songs I've heard. "Tusk" was the first single released and brings in the University of Southern California marching band. The song starts with a percussion thump and outdoor noises. Nice building as the whispering vocals comes in with the bass, electric guitar and the brass section of the USC band. Chaotic drums end a very different Fleetwood Mac song. Well, the band was successful in creating a record different than "Rumours." I like the variety of of weird and harder-edge songs. The songs span the spectrum being subdued, distant, haunting, bouncey, slow, fast and hard. One criticism of this album is that sounds like three separate solo albums. I agree with that to some extent. Buckingham especially created unique songs relative to "Rumours" and I find these to be the best of the album. I like this album quite a bit with a lot of very good songs that didn't get overplayed on the radio. An album worth going back to and/or checking out.

Favourite tracks: tusk; I know I'm not wrong; storms; never make me cry; beautiful child

I’ve known about Fleetwood Mac my entire life, and to be honest, “Rumours” is an album I don’t ever need to hear again because it was always played when I was a kid. Moving forward to “Tusk,” I really enjoyed this album because it marks a significant shift in direction from “Rumours.” “Tusk” goes all over the place. It has some chill songs, tracks that are more upbeat, and some that are experimental and avant-garde compared to the more traditional sounds of rock from that era. It’s really cool to see Fleetwood Mac take this direction, especially after the massive success of “Rumours.” This is definitely an album I plan on revisiting in the future to absorb it much deeper.

It's not as close to the magnitude of Rumors, but it's still a rather good album, with Sara being the obvious highlight for me.

No tiene la popularidad y solidez de rumours, pero me sigue pareciendo bastante bueno aunque un tanto caótico. me encanta la voz de Stevie

The quintessential double album. If you only kept the Side openers and closers, and kept one more song from each songwriter (“Storms,” “”Never Make Me Cry,” and “Tusk,” imo), I think you’d have an album on par with Rumours. But while this is no Rumours, it’s still Fleetwood Mac. The highs are so high, higher than the highs on Rumours, songs that would be career-defining songs for lesser artists. I think Tusk gets a bad rep for being bloated with Buckingham tracks, as he wrote 9/20 songs, and while I do think they’re often the album’s lowest points (“The Ledge”), he also has his own high points (“I Know I’m Not Wrong”). He’s no Nicks or McVie, but maybe I’m just biased. It is an exhausting full listen — my wife and I both were like, “there’s still a Side D?!” in unison — but in a modern context, there’s a lot here that work as songs, and I think that gives Tusk its value. A step down from the peak doesn’t mean you fell, just that you walked down a few hundred feet. All this said, it’s still no Tango in the Night…

Title song is probably my favorite Fleetwood Mac song. I’m a fan of Lindsey Buckingham which is probably why I like this album a tad more than their others. Band’s music has been in the soundtrack of my life since the 70s. RIP Christine.

It’s not rumors. But that’s ok.

The audacity of Lindsey Buckingham on What Makes you Think You’re the One! “Caillat posited that the song was directed at Stevie Nicks and that Buckingham ‘imitate[d] Stevie's distinctive vibrato, giving it a bleating, goat like quality, and her rudimentary piano quality, which he knew made her self conscious.’” Justice for Stevie. Groovy album though!

I liked it but it was simply too long. Some nostalgia for listening to Fleetwood Mac as a teenager from my dad’s cd collection

An interesting album, with a lot of different ideas. Some of them work, others not so much. The intense tracks are almost manic, and the chilled tracks are bordering on boring. It's going to be a small 4 for me.

Great album. Tusk was my favorite song.

Great album, it was very different from the only other album of theirs that I know, Rumours. Standout tracks for me were Think About Me and Angel.

A classic. Not as full of bangers as Rumours but still hauntingly beautiful.

Ist nicht so gut wie Rumours aber trotzdem

Definitely not as good as Rumors, but still an amazing album nonetheless.

Sara takes this 3 star to 4. It’s absolutely magical.

Good easy rock music but dragged on too much. It could do with fewer Stevie ballads I think. Stand-out: Think About Me

very nice quite calm and liked the contrast between the songs

What happens when Lindsay gets a little too into his cocaine. "Tusk" (the track) is an absolutely filthy monster of a song though. *Give me MORE marching band"

I’ve only ever listened to their greatest hits. I actually liked this better. Great album.

This is nice listening. I don't know if this was a compilation or they really made this in '79, but I liked it a lot.

Favourite: The Ledge

Actually quite enjoyable, even from someone who has an absolute and unequivocal adversion to Fleetwood Cack. Many more intriguing musical motifs than on their steaming mound of a predecessor 'Rumours'. I still hate Fleetwood Mac for being a bloated cocaine fuelled orgy machine (which is odd because I am all those things).

Impressive that they followed up Rumours with this, which really sounds so different, even experimental. At 20 songs it does feel pretty long, but there are a lot of gems here. Think About You is solid good, Sara is a magical build up. That’s All for Everyone reminds me of Animal Collective for some reason, it’s slow, melodic psychedelia. It’s hard not to compare this to Rumours, which is probably one of the top 10 best albums ever. There was never a chance this could match that greatness, but it is still a really strong and interesting album from a band at their peak.

This band is aging like fine wine! Love this and Storms is a special song for me.

not bad, pretty groovy

A very inconsistent album, but really enjoyable and unique.

This was the follow-up album to the smash hit that was Rumours, and as such there was more room to experiment. Thus, we got a double album where it starts getting weird on track two "The Ledge", where the guitar is tuned down an octave to sound like a fuzzy bass alongside Lindsey Buckingham's repeated utterance of the phrase "Someone oughta." In fact, the tracks written and sung by Lindsey tend to be the standouts on this album, including "Think About Me", "What Makes You Think You're the One", and the spoof on punk songs that is "Not That Funny." That's not to say I didn't appreciate contributions from everyone else. In particular, I consider "Sara" and "Storms" as well-penned songs from Stevie Nicks, and opener "Over & Over" from Christine McVie helped set the tone. But, I'll admit the album slows down on the back half, with songs sounding similar and it makes the album feels it's length before picking back up again at the end with the title track and "Never Forget". It's overall a solid album, and I can understand the creative freedom Fleetwood Mac had from their immediate success. Just could've been a little tighter.

genre: soft rock pretty consistent double album although it starts to blend in towards the end. Interestingly enough the good tracks are spread throughout the album rather than packed in the first vinyl (although Sisters of the Moon is indeed amazing). There's also something so satisfying about Mick Fleetwood's soft drum pulses, especially in songs like Beautiful Child. Obviously Rumours is still the superior album but no soft rock fan should skip this! liked on spotify: mentioned + Storms nice tracks: Over & Over, Think About Me, Sara (the storyline here is so good), What Makes You Think You're the One, Not That Funny, Angel, Brown Eyes, I Know I'm Not Wrong, Walk a Thin Line, Tusk rating: 3.5/5

Not the best Fleetwood Mac album but still pretty good. Would probably have been better as a single album not a double.

feel like its hard not to compare this to Fleetwood Mac's other stuff (mostly rumours ig), its def good but not as compelling as the stuff ik better imo. Also I listened to this very early on the morning in the bus so not sure how much I was processing so I dont think my review has the best perspective, 7.5/10

Pretty good background music for gaming with RJ! 7.5/10

7/10 - Great album to listen to. There were a bunch of songs that I had heard before and quite liked. I know I'm not wrong and walk a thin line were new songs that I quite liked. Tusk is a fantastic song but there was a version that I had heard so many times of it that the one on the album just does not work for me. I looked it up and found the version that I liked. It was a random live version that I liked more because the voice is slightly more prominent.

Not rumors but still good

Not as good as rumors (duh) but still has some bangers. Sara and tusk are classics. Good album 8/10

Weird name. Good album.

85/100

So much good stuff here and more intriguing than the mega hits “Fleetwood Mac” and ‘Rumors” that preceded it. A solid 5 if it had been condensed to a one-disc LP. The McVie songs are lovely, Nicks are mixed (Angel and Sara great, Sisters of the Moon and Storms less so), and Buckingham’s songs are mostly fine, but some are really solo efforts, suffering from not having the great rhythm section of McVie-Fleetwood behind him. Side note — I bough this for my brother JB for Christmas in 1979 on a Christmas Eve whim, paying full retail at a local store near his house in CT. In an earlier year I bought him “The Koln Concerts” by Keith Jarrett. What a great brother I was…

The rockers on this, which I perceive to be Lindsey’s, aren’t doing it for me, but I’m enjoying the Stevie/Christine slow jams. Favorites: think about me, storms, honey hi, beautiful child, tusk (the exception to my rule), never forget

There are a few Fleetwood Mac songs that I love, but I don't have the history or knowledge that many others have with them. Learning about the context of this record makes me appreciate its length and disjointed nature a little bit more. From an outsider's perspective, of course it's interesting when artists' lives seep into their music, when their songs become so authentic as a reflection of their realities. Strictly speaking of Tusk as a piece of music though? This IS too long and too disjointed. There are about ten or so great songs, and the other ten I could chop off to create a standard-length album that's tighter and more coherent. But I guess there's a certain charm to the mess that this record is. And the standout songs really are standouts, regardless of who sings them. Favorites here are Think About Me, Sara, Sisters of the Moon, I Know I'm Not Wrong.

Really solid album. Enjoyable on the first listen. Could maybe reach a 5 one day for me, but for now it’s a solid 4.

It deserves a 4, but this feel bloated to me. I might relisten and give it more attention. Just good to find Fleetwood Mac songs then Tusk goes CRAZY

Folk, Rock and Roll, Country, Blues all in one album.

50% iconic and timeless songs, 50% random nonsense

Notable tracks: Sisters of the Moon, Angel, Over & Over, The Ledge, Think About Me, Sara, Tusk

Surprised how many songs were familiar. I really enjoyed this one but it was a bit long.

Entertaining double album. The highlight of the whole albums is "Sisters of the Moon" 3,5/5 rounded up to 4

Gooood

What do you do after you put out THE quintessential boomer record? Release an overstuffed double album where you’re searching for a new sound. Tusk is a glorious mess. Lindsay Buckingham is just throwing things at the wall to see what will stick - meanwhile Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie are just doing Rumours. It’s all kinda crazy listenable. 3.5/5 rounded up to a 4.

I’m a huge fan of Fleetwood Mac but this album is fragmented just like the band was at the time. Very different vibe from previous album which was so successful.

Not as good as Rumors, but still good. There are several filler songs between the gems.

Album grew on me. Muddy recording that requires volume to be turned up. Double album problems would usually give this 3 stars but it has some hidden gems on it..

Chilled

I prefer rumors

I love Fleetwood Mac, but of the Buckingham/Nicks era this one is slightly weaker - doesn't have the sheer hit power of Rumours, S/T or Tango In The Night. I appreciate the sprawl of it, but it's lows are a bit lower too. Could do with an edit.

Beautiful album. I've listened to Rumors so many times, but really hadn't heard this one. It's so mellow and heartfelt with much more slower songs on the edge of country and soul. Really beautiful.

It’s not perfect but I love this album

There is a weird juxtaposition of moody McVie ballads and Nicks bits right beside trippy upbeat Buckingham hoedowns all throughout the album, but it’s really a miraculous record. Favorite Tracks: ‘Over and Over’ and ‘That’s All For Everyone’

Þessi hljómsveit er nottla eitthvað grín. Allt svo þétt og gott. Soundið er einstakt. Platan helvíti góð þrátt fyrir að mörg lögin voru fyrsta hlustun. Rann mjög vel í gegn.

Very good, not necessarily my type though

Bit of a mish-mash, with contrasting styles being more prevalent here. Was always going to be a challenge to present something as incredible after Rumours. Sisters of the Moon is superb, and the title track is a record-breaking hoot. 4 stars for me.

Day56 - it’s not rumours but it’s still really good

not my vibe That's All for Everyone and Brown Eyes have nice vibes. Tusk is neat.

Enjoyable album. Had not heard most of the tunes.

All the usual components of Fleetwood Mac were there, so the album was already good by default. This one kind of lacked some of the magic of their other stuff, and there wasn't nearly enough Stevie

Tusk feels like the kind of bloated follow-up to a blockbuster that a lot of filmmakers were making around this time, ala Heaven’s Gate or One from the Heart. And like most of those, there’s plenty of brilliance to dig through in between fluff. This might just be TOO much Fleetwood Mac, while Rumours was almost perfectly paced, but the good stuff is worth digging through. The title track especially, even if that will (or should, anyway) forever be associated with The Americans. B-

Always good.

could i write poetry to this? y

This album sounds like a million bucks. ...And it's worth every penny. It's impossible to separate the music from the situations that surrounded its production. Every indulgence, argument, excess, and drug-fueled emotion is meticulously committed to each recorded note. Did it need to be a double-album? There is no simple Yes or No. Sure, there are some clunky tracks. But even they have moments of shimmering brilliance. This is Fleetwood Mac with all members' egos at maximum power. They were essentially making solo albums together and everyone had to have their fair share of real estate on the record. Hell, Stevie doesn't even get a lead vocal until the fourth song. This isn't the hit machine that "Rumours" was. It didn't need to be. This was their "White Album". The Mac were already rich and powerful enough to get weird for a little bit. A marching band? Sure! Why not? *SSSSnnnnnoooorrrttt* Four and one-half stars. Reduced by one half-star because it's Fleetwood Mac's fault that I have dated too many women named "Rhiannon". Just kidding... it's because the album is just a little too long.

I enjoyed this album, not as much as thier prev. more popular album Rumores. Thier sound is somewhat different; I will likely come back and check it out again. Still a solid, clean group. 4/5

Sara is a beautiful song.

Du rock old'school comme je l'aime. Quelques pistes assez oubliables, mais une bonne proposition dans sa globalité.

Sisters of the moon is a vibe

Only ever heard Rumours - I loved this! I thought it moved well, the different tones of stanky country, tender balladry, and big time pop rock made for a compelling album throughout. At 20 tracks I maybe didn't vibe with every one, but on the whole this really surprised me. Fave track: Beautiful Child

Not sure what to vote. Long and rambling, I can’t hear a hot , but lots quite good

Has replay value. Need to remember to try out the running order change, where you group by writer/singer.

It's Fleetwood Mac so it's still class, but not as good as their self titled or Rumours

At least it's not rumours

oui 4 ou 3.5

Great album, some big hits and some funky tunes. Exactly what I expected.

Some good to excellent Nicks & McVie songs. Usually a Buckingham fan, but not here.

Really good album.

4 I liked this a lot more than I thought I would. I always thought Fleetwood Mac were a band for bland music tastes.

Liked it a lot

Bon, ca arrive pas au genou de Rumours, mais ça reste de la qualité en barre

Really great album. I liked it even more than I expected I would -

Some good songs, a few songs I skipped.

I personally like this album! It has a different sound. It's hard to live up to the others. Also, our son Freeman's favorite movie about dinosaurs had "Tusk" on the soundtrack. He played it over and over. Kind of miss hearing it.

Solid 4.5. Fleetwood always puts me in a good mood. The softness of the ladies voices with rock n roll is a sweet spot.

Weed out many of the Buckingham songs, keep all the Christy and Stevie songs, and this album would be a five star for me. But as a whole, and compared to the perfection of Rumors, Tusk is a four.

Solid album!!!

An absolute manic album and once you accept it is not going to be "Rumours," then give yourself up to Lindsay Buckingham's vision then you can enjoy it more. He desperately wanted to make art-pop and have the new trends in music influence this album and he succeeded. "Think About Me" is as good as anything else that appears on "Rumours" and "That's All for Everyone" could have come right off a Lindsay Buckingham solo album. The best answer on how to follow up a great, massive-selling album is to simply not follow it up. Steer away from the tide and try something totally different, which could only be aided by a lot a lot a lot of cocaine. "Tusk" is too long, bloated at times and is not straight pop-rock like pretty much all of Fleetwood Mac's other albums. Give it some time and I think you can see it is not "Rumours" but that's also not a bad thing.

sono alla seconda canzone e già mi piace molto. Mi piace davvero tutto, le voci, il suono e anche il fatto che sia molto chill. Potrei rimettere questo album in loop senza mai skippare una canzone.

4.2 - If “Rumours” comes on like passionate lovemaking, “Tusk” sounds more like post-coital pillow talk, especially with tracks like “Over and Over.” I like this record and agree with the “White Album” comparisons given some of its rougher edges. Standouts: “Storms” (my favorite), “Beautiful Child”, “Walk a Thin Line.”

Love these guys!!!! this album isn't my Fave-fave but still gets 4

I havent listened to much Fleetwood Mac, but this album has given me much more motivation to do so. Between four and five.

Sara is my favorite song of all time.

Saved to favourites

Not my favorite Fleetwood Mac record, but it still is great.

I liked it. I am a Fleetwood Mac fan

Made me wonder if I'm more into Stevie Nicks than into Fleetwood Mac as a whole, as I really enjoyed her tracks the most. A lot of the McVie stuff was rrrrreally mellow. I am not sure what about this is supposed to be such a "huge departure" from Rumours, which it followed up. Some of it sounds like it could be B-sides. It's messy, and it's long, but absolutely worth the listen.

Testing the listening notes

Was a bit long for me and I started to lose interest towards the end, but most of the music was enjoyable

Outstanding drum and bass performances. Different sound for them. Solid, not my favorite.

It was impossible to match "Rumours." Fleetwood Mac doesn't even try here. They opt for a very different approach. A magnum opus of twenty tracks where they explore all their possibilities as a band. A sampler of pop finesse to savor listen after listen. Here there is not the immediacy of their previous two works with Buckingham and Nicks, the will to endure over time dominates more. And they succeed

Impossible not to compare, and this one lacked the real punch that Rumors has. I can definitely agree that it seems more of a collection of individual solo songs rather than a group effort for each. It had a lot of really strong lyrical moments, and that could possibly be because the overall vibe was a bit more subdued and less upbeat.

starts off weak but pulls through sara storms not that funny sisters of the moon angel brown eyes i know i'm not wrong

Good album, lots of variety on it, definitely worth a deep dive

Much better than I remembered it

My favorite track is Sara. Its simple a great song. Great atmosphere, good vibes. But there are other great songs on the album like Over 6 over or Storms.

An amazing album with some classic tunes. It does feel like 3 separate albums jammed together, which if you read about the writing and recording process, it probably was.

Great first album!

An interesting conglomeration of tracks. Mostly interesting as a record of a group of incredibly talented individuals imploding as a band.

I find it really odd that only two Fleetwood Mac albums are included on this list. One of them is the obvious, but Tusk being the other one seems weird. Especially considering they have a number of other solid albums to choose. But either way, this is my first time listening to a full record from them. This is a beefy album. 74 minutes and 20 tracks can make or break a listening experience. Thankfully, every song has some form of substance to it. But I have to be honest. I only liked about half of the track list. Simply because some of these feel like filler. They could have cut many of these songs out to benefit the listener. There is multiple people who sing on this record at one time, but the best one is by far Stevie. I feel like everyone kind of knows this already, but still. Her songs are consistently the best ones on the album. They are also consistently the highest rated tracks on the album. This was also apparently inspired by post-punk music. And personally I don’t really hear it. There is only one song where I can feel that influence, and that is the title track. This is also coincidentally the best song. Why doesn’t every song sound like this? I wish they made an entire record of this sound. I never thought I needed Fleetwood Mac with a brass section in my life until now, but I want more of it. Rating: 7/10

Really nice album, some really nice relaxing songs, some more upbeat, a few added to 'idk what to call this' (4). A good Fleetwood mac album to listen to while doing work (revision, homework,Textiles, etc). Has 20 songs in total and just over an hour long, easy and enjoyable listening, could be a good album to do some cover songs on in the future
