Reviews (page 7 of 8)

While it's not too bad, the album is far too long and I found myself getting bored. High 2/5.

Meh, not something I would put in my rotation. Definitely would not say it is "one of the very best American rock albums of the 1980s", as mark Deming stated. Mr. Deming obviously did not listen to much music.

Fun and creative album, punk rock with jazz influences. There are many songs here, all very short but high in quality. Loved the bass and drumming! Not something I usually listen to, but I had a good time. Favorite tracks: Cohesion Do you want new wave or do you want the truth Corona

Crazy that this album had 43 songs. Too bad none of them were any good. There were a couple of listenable songs I guess but for the most part is was self indulgent.

I just couldn’t get into this album with the discordant chords and lack of musicality.

Idk man felt like he was kinda just talking at me

I appreciate the format. I don’t appreciate the anger.

I wish the vocals matched the standard of the backing instrumentals. This is what if punk filtered through other genres. It's decent, I guess. 2.5 The Jack-ass theme randomly appearing was fun, also much different once you get past the initial riffs.

Minner mye om RHCP, og ser at de har vært en inspirasjon for dem. Godt driv og gode musikere. Trekk for vokal. Liker rett og slett ikke stemmen.

not for me

I have travelled in alternative music circles since back in the day when alternative music really was an alternative. And the Minutemen were one of those bands that you read about a lot, but didn't hear much in Australia, at least, where SST albums were cursed with terrible distribution and were expensive. There are things I admire about the Minutemen; short punchy songs, a refusal to be bound by genre limitations, the whole "we jam econo" thing. But I have tried to listen to Double Nickels before, and gave it another good attempt today. And the listening experience just ain't great for me. the singing is pretty mediocre, the songs repetitious, it often veers into being too clever-clogs. In fact, it has many of the worst features of prog -- jazz influences, "clever" playing, lots of time signature changes -- all packaged up in a bloated double album. I can't help wonder if, had this been a 15 song album of around 30 minutes, I would love it to death. But I just can't do the self-indulgent sprawl. It tries my patience after about one side.

Fartei-me um pouco…

fine but boring

Wow, what is this? As a general rule I think it's a good idea to record 10 great songs rather than 45 random throwaways, there was a lot of rubbish here, but in a burst of generosity I have decided to award a bonus mark for shameless temerity.

Not a fan.

Schizo rambling? Some good production but it is too chaotic for me

It is way too long and exhausting to be an enjoyable listen. I managed to get halfway through it, and that half was okay.

I’ll give Minutemen credit for being influential in the 80s punk scene, but this album was just way too much. A 43-song double LP is a tall order even if the music is varied, and here it all kind of blurs together. After a while, every track started to sound the same, and instead of feeling exciting, it just felt overwhelming. There are definitely flashes of talent and energy, and I can see why the album gets respect for pushing boundaries in punk. But as a listening experience, it was exhausting. Short, sharp songs are great, but packing 43 of them into one record makes it hard to stay invested.

Erratic, inconsistent, and somewhat abrasive. Glimmers of hope but mostly tiresome.

A pesar de que varios temas han sido de mi agrado, escuchar un álbum de 1 hora y 20 minutos se me hace bastante pesado, incluso con canciones que duran menos de minuto y medio. Está claro que no me gusta demasiado el punk. 2/5

I like the percussion.

unique, funky, punky.

this sounds like they had fun making it 2.5*

I confess I am not a fan

Meh. Must be one of those "this time in history" albums. Don't think it stood the test of time.

This is a very long and not very cohesive album. I like a lot of the experimentation with fusing punk and all sorts of other genres but that also left me missing a clearer through-line. This can work. I've heard this kind of album work before. But those albums also didn't have 43 tracks that switch style every 2 minutes. Nothing had time to leave a lasting impression on me, and then something new came along Standouts - 2/5

MTV Jackass theme song on it. It was the only song I recognized. Went on too long. Is this post punk? Because I don’t like it

It’s like listening to a stereotype it’s hilarious 4/10

Not wild about the guitar work or the vocals.

I do not like this But I wonder if they influenced Red Hot Chili Peppers bc man, that guy was SLAPPE DE BÄSS MON

I didn’t find much enjoyment out of this selection. I don’t think it’s downright terrible, but it just wasn’t my thing at all. It’s also way too long, so it eventually became annoying.

The music was great, the vocals were painful

This album is really personally divisive, I feel really stuck on how to rate... First impression, its awful. I get it writing short songs are their thing, but doing it over and over just feels like you don't actually know how to write a song, you just have an idea for what a song could be but you can't actually write a full song. The guy's voice is not great and after a while they all started to sound similar. They hide behind a label of punk to try and hide that they can't write a song. Reflecting on the lyrics of some of the songs, I like where they were going. I also appreciate some of the songs that have more of the folk sounds (Corona was one). Which made me think maybe I am not getting it and maybe there is something here if I think about it more. But then I went the other way again and after 43 samples I should like at least one or two of the songs. Punk is about making you think and causing a little discourse but its about the world around not the very essence of the album. So yeah...I will rate on my gut impression

Not for me. I usually like a bit of hardcore. But this did nothing for me

This was ok. I see why it’s included in top lists (even if it’s just as filler). It just didn’t really push my pleasure points in the right way.

I like the music and instrumentation way more than the vocals. The vocals actually take it down a few pegs.

So much Bowie is on this list that sometimes it feels like it’s about quantity over quality. This album made no impact on me other than the strangely uninspired cover art.

It was fun to hear the Jackass theme song but this mostly sounded like the worst song on a Red Hot Chili Peppers album.

Pre-listening thoughts: 43 songs is actually absurd. This almost doubles the Guided by Voices album which had 28 songs and the Frank Black album which had 22, and I complained about how many songs are on those. Like that is just nuts Post/during listening thoughts: like am I supposed to gain something from 1-2 min songs? It’s as if someone changed the radio station just as I was getting into every song. And yes, I am one million percent going to reference the episode of Zach Stone where he makes songs so short they could be ringtones. This is maybe the worst offender of albums that I’ve had to pull that reference with bc the songs are legit so short. Just in the time I’ve typed this portion of the review, four songs have gone by. And I’m not even writing that much. I do think the guitar and bass lines are really cool though on the whole. Very Bloc Party meets Talking Heads. But I don’t like the lead singers voice and I don’t like it when he just talks over a song. He doesn’t have a nice enough voice to pull that off. 4/10 DID I NEED TO HEAR THIS BEFORE I DIE: no Fav snippets: Theater is the Life of You, the instrumentals Least fav snippets: It’s Expected I’m Gone, One Reporters Opinion, any spoken word, You Need the Glory

This is weird af. While I like pink and I can see that there is some punk in here - it's just a long drawn out art rock type album. 2 stars

3/10 - there were like 40 songs I didn’t really like any of them. They were all bad in different ways. Some of the songs were kind of just noise

Music is ok but lots of political speak talking over music is annoying

Not bad. Usually not my usual kind of music, but I enjoyed some of the songs.

I always liked this band.

2 good songs, a dozen shit songs.

Just many odd choices through out the album. Not for me

When the theme from Jackass came on it helped get my review into words. There's some good groove here; something like The Glory of Man is showing it off well. Man there's so many songs here and they don't all do almost anything. This joins the review of "this is perfect for what it's trying to be but what it's trying to be isn't the best". I feel like this is rebellion music for suburban kids who gave their parents speeches about how they didn't want to get a job and be a cog in the machine before asking or borrow the car.

Pretty solid sonically, good dynamic mix. Good musicianship, but the rhythm gets a little repetitive on the first 3 tracks. This acoustic instrumental track is a nice break I'm not sure what to do with this. There is a lot here and it admittedly even has the chaff included. A bit of a jam band here. There are some nice songs and it sounds good, but as an album it lacks cohesion.... oh there it is, track 4. Didn't notice.

I’m a big fan of punk music. However, I absolutely despise jazz and funk. This album was more jazz and funk than punk and I really hated it. Terrible vocals, annoying bass lines, awfully busy guitar. There is not a single mémorable song on this album

Long...so long...

Too long but fun

There's a lot of it and I mostly wasn't able to get into it.

43 songs is too many songs.

Miksi joka toinen biisi kuulostaa tutulta - onko niin perus kitaralla soitetut melodiat vai soiko nää paljon jossain? Ihan hassunhauska a-puoli, kun vekkuloidaan erilaisten äänitysten kanssa. Mut kuka antoi luvan jatkaa levyä yli tuntiin?! Tekee mieli antaa ykkönen.

Koin tämän, no, teoksen, sympaattisemmaksi kuin kuvittelin. Toisin sanoen koen ajatuksen toisesta kuuntelukerrasta vaikeaksi. 2+

Not for me x

If you are getting double nickels on the dime then you are breaking even... which is probably what this band is hoping for on this album. But unfortunately this album is boring and all the songs sound the same.

Umm it’s the morning after and I don’t have anything memorable to say. I didn’t hate it but it felt very gargled and unorganized, but maybe that’s the point? I probably won’t listen again but maybe I should

Not my jam, way to punk for me.

Kind of all over the place. Can never get a rhythm because there are 43 friggin songs on this thing and sounds experimental at best. Hardly enjoyable. Pick your best dozen songs or so, work on them, and make an album. Nobody needs to hear your bad bar recording on this thing. 4/10.

I like the general idea of having a bunch of very short songs on an album. But a lot of the songs just blended together, and the album was still too long.

I actually found this fun. The jackass song was nice to have in there, but the album as a whole had a rough charm to it. If it was half the length with the best songs I might be thinking 3 stars, but it was too long with too much stuff.

I appreciate the social commentary of the lyrics, and I’m sad that there are still some things we’re dealing with fourth years later. Also cool to see the Jackass theme pop up on this list, as I’m sure we’ll all mention. It was just really long and the short songs made it hard to find one to catch my attention and get into a groove. I’m wavering between a two and three, but I think I’ll go on the low end for this one.

I knew them only by the song Corona which was featured on jackass, I was surprised how good they really are,

I didn't even notice when it switched to a different album...

Talking Heads do this better

Не нужно слушать 1 час 43 минуты для того чтобы понять, что это херня

few good songs but its mostly just noise

It's fine, but not my cuppa.

Too long, too many fillers

It took me the longest time to get through this and while I remember liking certain parts of it, I have already forgotten them and am too fed up of it for a second listen.

Fine, but didn’t do anything for me.

Überlang. Kein Song stach hervor, aber die Titel waren kreativ.

Not gonna lie, towards the end especially that got to be a pretty grueling listen. As is becoming a common theme for me in earlier punk albums, the guitar work is really the sole saving grace. Especially on this album, the vocals, the length, and the lyrics are all pretty stark negatives. The length is only an issue because it never feels like the album goes anywhere, like the first couple of songs are almost indistinguishable from the last few. That's fine for a shorter album (is this it by the strokes, one of my all time favorite albums, comes to mind) but for an album of this length I need at least a little forward progression. The lyrics feel like they're often trying way too hard to imitate bob dylan with the whole stream of consciousness thing, and admittedly sometimes it does work, but those moments are few and far between. With that being said, it's not all bad: the guitar licks present in nearly every song are usually pretty enjoyable and don't usually get old. Overall, an album that I'll surely never think about again, unless I need a short song to learn on guitar when I'm bored. Best: Two beads on the end Worst: you need the glory Liked songs: 44%, 19/43 Mid 2

The very definition of "death by a thousand (two-minute or less) cuts". While I didn't find anything of particular value on this MULTI-album, I did pick up vibes here and there of other bands I do like... ones that have a more structured approach to actual song writing. So, in that regard, I'll give it a 2 for having the right ingredients set out on the counter... just wish they had bothered to bake the damn cake.

The songs were too short. They felt like they were building up to something, but failed to reach their climax. Leaving me with blue balls on several occasions. And, yet the album in its entirety was way too long. It outstayed its welcome. I wanted a pump and dump, not a long term commitment.

2/5 I'm docking points from this for being too long

ok but looooooong

Mostly some weird ass shit with a few moments of decent sounding music. 1.5 stars.

Not really for me.

I think 10-12 good songs would have been better than 40 meh songs, some of which are incredibly short. Probably wouldn't seek this one out again. Hearing the Jackass into on Corona was pretty funny though.

Okay but it really could have done with 10 good songs instead of having 40 mid songs

not bad but they all sound the same.

Feels like a guy talking at random volumes and varying energy levels over an okay instrumental, for 43 straight songs Actual lyric : "TWINKLE TWINKLE...blah blah blah" They were just blasted as hell in the studio and saying whatever random garbage came to mind FOR FORTY THREE SONGS. 1.5 rounded up, not unlistenable just super meh

No memorable tracks. Heavy on the bass. Sounds like a poor man’s primus and I don’t really like primus. Decent album I suppose. Will never listen to it again though.

Didn’t hate this, but also didn’t think I’d ever get to the end of it.

This album was an exercise in endurance for me. I think I would have enjoyed it a bit more if I heard most of the songs with the vocals removed. Indeed, it is only some decent musicianship that keeps me from giving a single star. Instead, it just about deserves two, in my view.

Endless warm up jam

God this got boring quick. I don’t mind longer albums but when they feel longer than they already are, that’s when I start to have a problem

A band called Minutemen should not be allowed to release an hour-long album

How to turn one hour into three. Some good songs but lost amongst the chaos.

Start off quite eclectic. Then it just too long. I think the Red Hot Chili Peppers owe these guys a debt.

Strange pop.

I didn't realise cutting every song in half could make an album feel three times as long... what a load of nothing! Favourite track: The World According to Nouns.

So long, not for me

Especie de punk bastante extraño. hipnótico. Un 2.

Punk. No me ha enganchado ninguna canción.

It's ok but the jazz funk punk cross over is hard to love.

Sometimes I’d be into it and other parts I could not stand. Like there’s a part that sounds like he’s trying to scat while imitating a ghost. Idk man.

It wants to be punk, but its political without the anger. Pass

didn't get it

Alkuun piti otteessaan funkkiviboineen, mutta lopulta mitta otti meikästä yliotteen ja levyn kuuntelu kääntyi väsytystaistoksi. Hävisin.

Unusual, not really my thing if I’m honest

Not horrible for punk. 2.23

Some interesting stuff, but I lost interest about halfway through this too long album since it all got a bit same-y. 2.5

This album is at times both funky and beautiful. But most of the time it's ironic, noisy without a reason, and just like every other punk that should have better ways to serve society. I wish it was the other way around.

This is a seminal, respected, essential work by a legendary punk band? Awesome. Love that for you.

A lot of the same. And not really keen on his somewhat shouty and flat vocals. Some decent guitarwork - Cohesion a good example of this. Oh, I probably like it because there are no vocals! A bit long and self-indulgent. Some decent drums. But those annoying vocals! Aaagh.

One reasonable track, 'Cohesion' has nice acoustic guitar. I don't like anything else. I guess it's on here because it mixes low-fi rock with funk and (almost) jazz but I don't like it.

Unjustifiably bloated, no offence but it shouldn’t be on the list.

Some good some rubbish, too many songs. 45 is absurd

Not my cup o' tea.

Why is this mediocre, endless album on this list?

Not my jam really.

There were moments I enjoyed the album, and probably would have scored it higher, but then It droned on and on and seemed like a bunch of random brain farts rather than any genius. I’m glad I listened but would never listen again. Moments of brilliance lost in randomness.

40 songs,..cmon man

Americans don't do punk. Mostly boring and pretentious

It's pretty basic and pleasant- innocent and amateurish. Bless them- it's a nice record. Not Punk and not worthy of the top 1001 albums.

The singing was wacko

It's long in tracks whcih was intimdating when starting the album, In reality the songs are short length, quick, loud and catchy. Quality punk!! but not something I would listen to again Favourite song: Nothing really jumped out to me as a wow song. Nothing was long enough to lend itself to be a favourtie. Least favourite: cohesion. I couldnt see the point in this song. Album artwork: Meh

Just okay

No grand impressions. It's just kinda there.

Not the worst, but far from the best.

This album just did not resonate with me. Over 40 songs taking about an hour and a quarter to get through. Did not HAVE to hear this one...sorry!

didn't grab me as much as i hoped or expected it to. will give it a few more listens before comingg to my final view on it, but for now two stars. i respect it, that's for sure

I'm giving this album a 2. I hate everything about this band, this album, everything. But it gives me a very specific nostalgia that I can't help but feel happy. I hate that the most.

Man hinner ju inte tycka om en låt förrän den är slut.

Non mi fa impazzire sto genere 2

More like two-minute-men, ha. +1 for inventive song titles and for making the theme song to Jackass. 2/5

Not my style. A few songs are okay, mostly the softer ones.

Probably would have liked it if all the songs weren’t 90 seconds or less

# Playlist Track - Corona # Notes - I really did enjoy some moments here and there. Very interesting opening, instrumentals and rhythms. But it goes away in a second. And it's replaced by some nonsensical weird thing that is not fun at all. - I appreciate the punk expression and the sheer courage of releasing 43 short songs. I really do. But it doesn't make the album a better experience. - Recommended to punk fans and folks interested in music history only.

I had high hopes starting out. But soon found it repetitive: drum, bass, jangly elec guitar. Yes, there are songs that are very different, but my overall takeaway is a lot of the same. Others have done it better or at least more entertainingly, esp the speak-singing (early Talking Heads, B-52s). And OMG: 43 songs!

I listen to this and sit amazed that bands I loved never made it bigger---Lowjack, Hijack, Bunnyplasm. Maybe Adler will be a rock-n-roller after all? It all sounded flat. Can't stand the singers voice. I don't understand what makes this "hardcore" but it doesn't matter enough for me to try and answer that. Blah.

Maybe I need to give it more of a chance?

I hear a lot of Primus, Early Chili Peppers, and Rollins Band. Funky and assertive. Nothing I particulalrly enjoyed tho.

The music is not bad, but it just didn’t do it for me. Too long album and the short songs make it hard to get into the album. Maybe I should try again some time..

Enjoyable to begin with, and hey it's the Jackass theme, but really could have done with dumping at least 15 tracks.

This was tedious.

Decent musicianship, but when you take funk instrumentals with punk vocals, you lose me. Not really bad, but not for me

The runtime really killed any momentum I had enjoying this project, I also imagine that due to the sheer volume of music, it makes this very forgettable. Yeah punk music, whatever- I can’t stay interested for 40+ songs especially when they are too short. They absolutely shred tho!

Ok, but not for me 2/5

It was ok but got a bit bored, did wonder how many people who bought this originally listened to all 4682 tracks

Interesting mix—way more complex than most other punk music. Overall, it's annoyingly long. After I listened to half of the songs, I had a strong urge to stop it. I don't think that they had enough good songs to actually fill a double album.

What in the heck is this album? it reminds me of a band doing an extended set at a house party. Maybe Partying Will Help fits the vibe. This Ain't No Picnic is also in there.

Not my thing

Pretty wild that they have 43 songs on this album and yet it’s only 70 something minutes. What an interesting combo of punk jazz funk. Not something I really enjoyed but thanks to Jackass I will always like listening to Corona. Their style is quick fast and fun. It’s pretty good. Just not for me. 4.8/10

These guys are like a punk jam band. The songs are all still like 1:30 long, but the singer only sings for maybe 30 seconds of each song, so I guess that's punk's version of a jam band. It's a double album. 43 songs. Still gets done in 1hr 14 mins. They just seem to amble about and not really accomplish much. I mean it's not bad, but it just has no direction. Interestingly, they apparently did the Jack Ass theme song, Corona. Favourite songs: Corona, My Heart and the Real World, Viet Nam, The Roar of the Masses Could Be Farts, #1 Hit Song Least favourite songs: "Take 5, D.", You Need the Glory, Nature Without Man, No Exchange, Jesus and Tequila 2/5

No to the vocals. Some instrumentals ok but overall did not like this very long and short songs album.

Bisschen anstrengender Funk-Rock

Some nice bass lines and guitar but just not my thing. Interesting there were 43 songs and many of them short. Enjoyed the tracks without lyrics a lot more than those with them.

Surprisingly talented for a punk group. But just not really my taste

This album is all over the place! One second I’m bopping like yeah there are some cool guitar riffs here and then the next minute it sounds like a bad recording of the karaoke bar

i was actually quite enjoying this until i realised how fucking long it was. I'd rather eat bees than listen to 45 tracks.

SHACK eats bees whilst watching Dennis Taylor play snooker.

Really jarring having all these 60-90 second songs. It felt like a demo tape in that they had all these ideas that they wanted to record, without really developing them. Maybe that's more a comment on me not being open minded enough, but I didn't like it

i mostly zoned and forgot i was listening to this as i was. could i write poetry to this? n

Where to start with this one? 80s punk, and like very punk-y punk. This thing was 81 minutes and 43 songs, so crunch the numbers and you get a very long album with an average song length under 2 minutes. And they're all a bit chaotic. I'm realizing that I struggle a bit with the more raw, unstructured punk bands, which this felt like to me. I do get the appeal, it's simple and \"real\". They're saying screw the establishment, we're going to have three dudes playing whatever we want and singing about bad shit that's happening. And honestly I appreciate someone doing something different at this time, there was a lot of crap getting made then too. One of the songs on here is literally called \"Do You Want New Wave or Do You Want the Truth?\", I take it they didn't love New Wave, I'm mostly with them). But man, it's hard to listen to an over an hour of this. The singer is really raw, there's not a ton going on musically that's super interesting, it's just a bit tough. I get the appeal, but it's not super \"enjoyable\" to just sit down and listen to, I think you need to be in a real specific headspace for this. It does seem to have had an impact on future punk though, this is still the fairly early-ish days of punk rock so I can see it being influential for what came later. The singer also died a very tragic death in a car accident which led to the band disbanding not long after this, which is a real shame. Favorite song: Corona Other: Viet Nam, Cohesion, Maybe Partying Will Help, The Glory of Man, History Lesson Part 2, No Exchange 12/6/23

Not really my style.

Corona // 1.5/5

3.5/10

Feels like a punk version of a jam band. Eccentric mix of music

Þokkalegt, vantar samt einhvern neista í þetta.

They are referred to as punk but they’re more like political rock. I’m not a fan.

Too long

Not for me

Too much, yet not enough to keep me interested.

43 songs? Seriously?

Quirky post-punk distraction from more serious works. Listen once. Enjoy. Move on.

Wasn’t my style

As a whole I’m not a huge fan of this album. It’s a little aggressive and not very poetic in my opinion. I can respect it for what it is and I understand why people would like this kind of music. The guitar and drums are excellent and the number of awesome riffs they came up with for these songs is impressive.

I will reserve judgment, but this is a 40-track album, and I am not a fan of that. Some of these seem like they just had the band in the studio doing random riffs and whatnot, then decided to just put it in. It's okay, but feels unfinished. A high 2/5

No album should be 75 mins long. At that length you’d think there would some semblance of melody somewhere, but not here. I get that in 1984 that Double Nickels on the Dime must have hit hard for some people, but I’m not sure it’s aged all that well. 5.1/10

3/38, 8%

I appreciate the style that they were trying to do. Acoustic punk is hard to accomplish. Some songs stood out, but the album as a whole fell short.

vocals: 1/5 instrumentals: 4/5 I liked the jazz influence. I'd appreciate the album much, much more if it had only instrumentals.

weird, disjointed and too long. not into this at all.

That was pretty much a slog to get thru. A few great songs aside, it was a mess.

ganz okay, aber viel zu lang und iwie nix besonderes overall

I had never heard of Minutemen befroe and there was only one track (out of 45) from Double Nickels On The Dime that I recognized ("Corona" because it was the theme song for Jackass). There are so many short tracks on this album. It feels like a punk album but not quite the same kind of punk as the Ramones or the Sex Pistols. "June 16th" was my favorite track, perhaps because it wasn't burdened with lyrics. Several tracks got a definite "do not like" because of the lyrics and vocals. A shorter album with a selection of the tracks could have got a higher rating from me. With so many tracks on this album and so many that I would skip on a re-listen, Double Nickels On The Dime does not reach "I guess it was okay".

This has proto RHCP vibes

Have you ever been to an expensive restaurant where they serve a silly amount of very small dishes and your left with a lighter wallet and still feel hungry, this was that in audio form.

Felt like men in a garage —silverlake would like this

Not a fan of this album.

Not amazing. Maybe one or two okay songs

Where has this even come from? It's completely new to me, although I don't think any punk album should ever be a double. Apart from the Rock 'n' Roll Swindle, obvs. Bailed after 14 tracks - the ideal length.

Some stuff sounded cool but never felt as complete songs

It has some interesting bits but overall its way too noisy and way too long.

This semi-funk, semi-almost ska or something was just not for me... "I can make seconds feel hours" - yeah he can.

I did not understand why this album was on the list until..." Jackass," and I finally got the reason. It makes a lot of sense now (🤪). But seriously, I enjoyed the album a little bit; I guess they were a bit ahead of their time when they released this album in 84, but for my 2023 ears, it sounds a little bit old-fashion punk/post-punk that did not get old in the best form. It's enjoyable but forgettable at the same level.

A man shouting over frantic drum beats and guitar fills for an hour and a half, couldn’t finish it

Nenni ekki aftur.

Quite like the scattergun approach with so many ultra-short songs, however the novelty does wear off after a while. Too many songs that are not well developed or tail off. Would have preferred an album with half the songs but twice the length of each song

45 1-2 minute long songs, gone as soon as they started, all quite similar and forgettable for me. Punk just isn't my genre, hey? Or at least not this side of the genre.

The problem with this album is not the music, but how it was delivered to us : 43 little songs over 1h15 duration. Damn. How is it possible to enjoy?

Not my scene

Punk. No me ha enganchado ninguna canción.

Not great. Some interesting moments, but few.

Osa biiseistä ihan jees, mutta enemmän olisin kaivannut kovaa ajoa rytmittämään tätä vähän tarpeettoman pitkää levyä. 2/5.

A double punk album? Such a thing does not exist…. Oh, too bad it’s basic and generic. Meh. I wonder how much money these cats made off of Jackass using that one lick.

Karaoke hangover, zoo (sad), walk home, lunch, exiles, penn state loud, liverpool bad, home, decorate, tired, rally, party, good vibes but kinda a blur, drunk

I wasn't as into it as I thought I might be. The songs were all over the place, and even though they were short, there were so many tracks it felt a mess. Enjoyed some of the songs that were more punk.

two nickels on the dime? Brother, I wouldn't listen to these songs again if they were a penny a piece. I can think of a better way to spend 43 cents. Not only is that too many songs, but they are all basically a minute long. No thanks.

Yikes this one was rough. No flow, just 40+ tracks that all sounded similar and not in a good way. Terrible vocals. Songs so short. An extra star due to the Jackass theme song being a fun surprise. And there were moments when they had good riffs.

This can’t be taken seriously because they didn’t take it seriously. This is sloppy and annoying, way too long, nothing about these songs tells me they were trying to create a meaningful album and I just did not enjoy the sound.

More than 80 minutes of forgettable nonsense. Thanks for nothing

A really weird mish mash of songs and thoughts, lots of short sharp alt-punk guitar heavy tunes that has that typical frenetic pace of a punk album. However this album should have been a quarter of the actual length, it felt way to long for the quick pace of the song lengths. Best: Maybe Partying Will Help; Three Car Jam Worst: Don't Look Now

Talk singy and lacking an enjoyable melody. It’s also really long.

Wat onrustig en raar plaatje, wel verrassend dat ineens het bekende jackass intro geluid voorbij kwam.

Mjah, dit klonk wel interessant ofzo. Maar niet lang genoeg om het hele album vol te houden.

Vervelend.

I get the genius, the jazz influences (very interesting), but not really my style. Goes on and on, and though the band is never not creative, I eventually got tired of it.

Inspired by Price's dream: The loudest zine I've ever read. It's got a home-grown feel. I was able to ease into the latter half of the album, which, while a good sign, also is a symptom of the fact that these 1-2 min experiences just bled into each other

Eh, not great felt very disorganised, but jackass theme was lol

Beyond the art around this album, I dont find it appealing.

som sagt. det är ett bra album men kan inte ta på allvar efter j*ckass

Couldn’t fully get into this album. I like the generally direction of the stripped down punk but I didn’t really identify with it. Also there were just a lot of songs

Enjoyed the bass though sometimes was a bit loud in the mix especially earlier in the Album. Some songs were ok most mediocre. Vocals not great either. Lyrics meh. But I liked the bass

the length was just absolutely horrendous. the music was tolerable at first but it got really annoying after like two hours of it.

There's way too much RHCP vibing going on in this for my liking.

4/10. The song changes every 2 minutes yet the whole thing sounds the same, and like punk music. I was only awakened from my stupor when I realized I was listening to a cover of Doctor Wu. Maybe could justify giving it a 5, because I like some of these instrumentals, but the singing just drags.

I’m glad I listened to it but I’m glad I don’t have to listen to it ever again. 4/10

Interesting, but I don’t think I’d listen to it again

nah didn't like this. Too many tracks and too sporadically good. Would've been better as a condensed single album of the good ones.

Estilo un tanto independiente y mezcla de rock/punk en ocasiones. Canciones cortas y con un mismo estilo. Lo cierto es que no me ha gustado mucho, aun siendo un estilo que me debería gustar.

Again not a record I have ever listened to before so here goes. Ooooh Akronish I think, I am immediately taken to listening to DEVO for the first time when starting to listen to this album. A good punk album with short sharp shock tactics no song longer than 3 minutes! I liked "D's Car Jam/Anxious Mo-Fo" and "Cohesion"

An interesting concept: 43 tracks (on the version on Spotify), mostly between 1 and 2 minutes long. In some places, it seemed like these sort of combined to form longer songs (sort of), or song families linked by a theme. Whilst the format may be interesting insofar as it's unusual, it is not very enjoyable to listen to. Perhaps there is a reason this format hasn't been repeated by others (to my knowledge)? Or maybe the format is fine, but the music and vocals aren't great? I think it is a bit of both. The songs aren’t very good, but you might be able to get away with some of them individually as the 'novelty short song' on a normal album. However, 43 is far too many and really prevents it gaining any flow as each track is over before it gets the chance to establish itself in your consciousness. This album was therefore really hard to get into and ended up being quite a slog to get through. At the point I got really fed up of it, there were still 35 or so tracks left. I still made it to the end though - think I deserve a medal. 1.5/5.

voor ne minuteman weet hij toch niet dat ne minuut uit 60 seconden bestaat. Soms leuke dingen soms is het maar meh. niets dat echt memorabel is

Music old people get mad at me for not liking

Some interesting tracks here and there but missing the unifying element to bring it all together, especially for an album of this length

I enjoyed the vibes, and some songs were fun. A bit long, though, and the quality of the songs varies a lot. Ultimately, I don't really see myself listening to this album again, so I'll have to give it 2 stars.

It was different. Older than I’m used to.

TOO MANY SONGS u don’t need 43 similar sounding songs on an album lol.

Not bad but snippet format makes it hard to get invested in the music

Hold on, there's 43 songs?! Why are they all 2 minutes or less? 2 songs in: It's not necessarily my type of music but I can see why people like it. I don't really like the guy's voice. 9/10 songs in: Ok I know why I'm not really a fan, it sounds too much like both a live album and different subgenres for me to get into it. It also sounds like maybe a bit of unfinished work too since the songs are so short. 18 songs in: I'm still not enjoying it a whole lot. It's ok to have on during work I guess. 20 songs in: Hey, "The Glory of Man" is actually ok. 27 songs in: "The Politics of Time" I bopped my head to a bit. 28 songs in: I don't like this AT ALL. 38 songs in: I'm not having a good time. "Storm in My House" has good instrumentals, but the guy's voice is just not good. This album sounds like it was recorded in someone's basement studio. 40 songs in: WTF even is this song "Dr. Wu"? Are they trying to be a bad ripoff of Bob Dylan? 43 songs in: THANK GOD this is the last song and only 38 seconds long IF YOU DON'T GIVE THIS ALBUM A 1 OR 2 STAR RATING YOU'RE KIDDING YOURSELF.

If less is more, just think how much more, more will be...

Did not like this album. Did not finish it.

absence de talent, 47 sons mais tous similaires, nul, 2/5

After 10 songs I was too bored with it and stopped listening.

Punk garajero y de granja. El disco se hace larguísimo. Molan cuando se dejan llevar por la distorsión y el caos. Curioso al menos.

2/5 nothing to remember.

Korte stukjes chaos.

Meh, too many songs and they're not of enough substance. Jackass, though...

Especie de punk bastante extraño. hipnótico.

Not as good as the old 97s

j'ai aimé les 3 premieres mais ca n'a rienpour m'acrocher

Well, I now know where the theme from “Jackass” came from… I respect a lot of folks who respect Mike Watt, but this ain’t for me. Every now and then (“No Exchange”) I felt like I could squint and almost make out some Fugazi-esque moments. Mostly though I just felt like this is a thing for beefy So. Cal dudes to listen to in their backyards and say the words “bro” and “stoked” a lot. Not sure punk and funk ever needed to really share a bed, especially not for a 44 song double album.

Per i primi 40 minuti l'ho apprezzato molto; hanno uno stile molto vario e che, al mio orecchio, ricorda molti altri gruppi. Dopo un po' però questo continua introduzione di cose diverse mi ha stufato e ho faticato a finirlo

Ah not my type of music

Funk rock?

Better than I was expecting but a double album?! Not fair.

Per quanto l'album non abbia nulla di "sbagliato", non mi convince, risulta poco coerente fra una traccia e l'altra. Sembra un calderone di idee sconnesse fra di loro.

Interminable. Double albums are the worst. Some interesting stuff here but not enough to make it worth it. 2.5

I can understand it change the world of music in the punk/alternative. I can't believe it's in this album de Jackass album!

the idea of punk is kinda cool but its shit for repeat listening tbh

Alternativ punk-rock, højt tempo, politisk, eksperimenterende

1984: Viet Nam, Jesus and Tequila, Corona

I don't care if it is only 45 minutes, it feels like 2 hours. album is a bit grating and exhausting to get through. not my cup of tea

Too long! Corona is a legendary song though!

Meh. Sort of forgettable.

I cannot begin to tell you the sheer horror that filled me when I saw how many tracks were on this album. That horror continued as I listened for over an hour. It was an absolute mess. Shit from an old notebook indeed.

Not my cup of tea. There were a select few that were good, but the album was a large haystack of slop that needed to be combed through in order to get to those songs.

Really didn't like that

Hilariously bad! Favorite song: "Political Song for Michael Jackson To Sing"

minutemen like fallout

Not my fav not my like

not for me

NOT INTO IT

Just wanted it to end

I hated every time I heard the spoken-word singing on this album - and there was 81 minutes of album.

not good punk

Jazz sucks

- this album is just way too long with no significant hits - all the songs sound the same

This was like if Talking Heads were punk and also sucked.

really cool percussion and drums. but my gosh its way too long and most of it sounds the same just over and over again. id never go back and listen to this in full. it felt irritating after a while. yike. 3/10

too long too long too long

Trash.

Another example of putting an entire album on here because of 1 song. This is one of the worst things I've ever wasted my time on.

Not a fan

Instantly forgettable light weight American punk... or something... I've forgotten tbh.

This could've been a solid 3-star rating if it was half as long. Not every half-baked idea has a place on an album.

Nit my sirt of music

annoying

Annoying voice

Good to finally learn where the Jackass theme came from

Sorry I hate this kind of singing All the songs sound the same too
